Shelter Overflow: Adopt Now Before It’s Too Late | Durham News
Wake County Animal Center is overflowing with over 650 animals, hitting capacity as intake continues to surge daily—especially after the Fourth of July holiday. With 232 adoptable pets ready, including 74 kittens waiting for surgery, the shelter’s “Adoption Cup” is offering slashed fees: $25 for dogs, $5 for cats, since June 11. Already, 218 cats and 129 dogs have found homes thanks to the promotion. Every adoptable pet comes vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and microchipped.
