- 0:11Speaker 1: Hi, I'm Adam Green, the director of Hatchet, and you're
- 0:13Speaker 1: listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:27Speaker 2: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:30Speaker 2: Picture Association of America.
- 0:31Speaker 3: It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:45Speaker 4: It's showtime, folks.
- 0:48Speaker 5: Enjoy the show. our nuclear reactor, pumping out one million.
- 0:55Speaker 6: Kilowatts of power. What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:22Speaker 5: I am Brian.
- 1:23Speaker 7: And I'm Greg.
- 1:23Speaker 4: And we are once again coming to you live via digital.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Recording from Fandom Fest.
- 1:27Speaker 6: So.
- 1:46Speaker 8: Surrounded by geeks we are. It's extra geeky because I
- 1:49Speaker 8: said it kind of Yoda-like. Did you want to tell
- 1:53Speaker 8: your superstar story about in the elevator?
- 1:57Speaker 9: Yeah. So coming into the place I used Randy's parking
- 2:04Speaker 9: permit to get in and it took me into this
- 2:07Speaker 9: labyrinth of parking under the gold house here in Lowell
- 2:10Speaker 9: which was broken up and I think it was part
- 2:14Speaker 9: of I don't know, some underground railroad moments.
- 2:19Speaker 8: It might have been. We did have that here.
- 2:21Speaker 9: But it was never really underground. But, you know, anyway.
- 2:23Speaker 8: Figuratively.
- 2:24Speaker 9: Figuratively. I was lost. I was completely lost. And I
- 2:28Speaker 9: came out, like, in a building that wasn't attached to
- 2:32Speaker 9: any of this at all. So I knew there was
- 2:35Speaker 9: a walkway in between. So I was going to take
- 2:38Speaker 9: the elevator up. And there was a gentleman, a well-dressed
- 2:41Speaker 9: gentleman already. But he was carrying his suit and his
- 2:45Speaker 9: nice lady friend, who was attractive as well, and he
- 2:49Speaker 9: was carrying her dress as well. We get on the elevator,
- 2:53Speaker 9: and he says to me, I think he assumes that
- 2:57Speaker 9: I'm coming in like the guest entrance or the celebrity entrance.
- 3:04Speaker 9: And he, I think, might have assumed that I was
- 3:06Speaker 9: somebody on his level. And he looked at me and
- 3:09Speaker 9: he goes, these things are crazy, right? And I was like, yeah.
- 3:11Speaker 9: And he says, well, you got to keep coming to
- 3:14Speaker 9: them because they really do help us make a lot
- 3:16Speaker 9: of money. And this elevator ride went on forever because
- 3:21Speaker 9: I was so awkward. I think he's starting to realize
- 3:24Speaker 9: that I'm not one of him and that I'm not
- 3:28Speaker 9: making money off of this and that I'm probably paying
- 3:31Speaker 9: money to be here, which I'm not.
- 3:33Speaker 8: The extra awkward part.
- 3:35Speaker 10: You have no idea who he is.
- 3:37Speaker 9: Oh, yeah, and he's supposed to be a guy. I
- 3:39Speaker 9: have no clue. I don't know if maybe she's the celebrity.
- 3:42Speaker 9: I'm going to have to go back to the list
- 3:48Speaker 9: and look and see who it is and find out if, again,
- 3:53Speaker 9: they were both attractive. He had nice hair. She had
- 3:56Speaker 9: on a nice pair of shoes, and I'm very happy
- 3:59Speaker 9: for you, but I was just awkward. I was like,
- 4:02Speaker 9: I'm supposed to know who this person is, and now
- 4:04Speaker 9: he feels like a dork because he knows that I
- 4:06Speaker 9: don't know who he is. So it was a great moment.
- 4:11Speaker 9: And I walked out, and I was just kind of walking,
- 4:15Speaker 9: almost laughing to myself, coming across the little skywalk walkway.
- 4:22Speaker 9: And I think people were looking at me. I was
- 4:24Speaker 9: going to say people were thinking I was weird, but
- 4:26Speaker 9: most people are kind of weird.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Especially here.
- 4:28Speaker 8: I mean, most people in the world are pretty weird,
- 4:30Speaker 8: but they cover it up everywhere else here. Everybody's kind
- 4:33Speaker 8: of okay with being weird.
- 4:34Speaker 9: Just do what you want.
- 4:35Speaker 8: Yeah, pretty much.
- 4:36Speaker 9: And, you know, you're universally accepted, though, I think.
- 4:40Speaker 8: I support that, especially here. I mean, it is one
- 4:43Speaker 8: of those, I will make fun of extra dorky people here.
- 4:46Speaker 9: No, don't get me wrong.
- 4:47Speaker 8: We're all kind of dorky. I certainly include myself in that.
- 4:50Speaker 9: There's a hierarchy.
- 4:51Speaker 8: But there's, I mean, there are other people that I'm
- 4:52Speaker 8: just like, what? hell are they wearing? You know, you'll, you'll,
- 4:55Speaker 8: that's our nature. That's what we do. But like, it's
- 4:58Speaker 8: still like, it is funny. Like when I come to
- 5:00Speaker 8: these versus, you know, when I go out into the
- 5:03Speaker 8: regular world, I still feel way more at home here
- 5:08Speaker 8: with like kids wearing fur hats with ears on them.
- 5:11Speaker 8: And like, you know, a guy in an elf suit,
- 5:12Speaker 8: a guy in an elf suit walking around.
- 5:15Speaker 9: And like, Alf had his hat on and he was
- 5:18Speaker 9: crouched down on the floor and quickly eating a sandwich
- 5:21Speaker 9: so that he could get the sandwich down. It was
- 5:24Speaker 9: a ham and cheese.
- 5:25Speaker 8: No, it was Cat, don't lie.
- 5:27Speaker 9: It was Cat? Oh, he was eating Cat. You're right.
- 5:30Speaker 9: Gordon Shumway, is that his name?
- 5:32Speaker 8: From Melmac.
- 5:33Speaker 9: From Melmac.
- 5:34Speaker 8: It's so sad that we know all of that.
- 5:38Speaker 9: Before you know it, he's got his hat back on,
- 5:42Speaker 9: walking around. He had some sign. I don't know what
- 5:46Speaker 9: it was.
- 5:46Speaker 8: I think it said, got Cat. Or something to that effect.
- 5:49Speaker 8: You get where he's going.
- 5:51Speaker 9: So basically, because he's young, he knows what Alf is,
- 5:54Speaker 9: but he probably never watched the show.
- 5:56Speaker 8: Or has tracked them all down from somewhere like this.
- 5:59Speaker 8: Because I don't even think that's on Netflix. I mean,
- 6:01Speaker 8: it's one of those somebody's gotten him copies of all
- 6:04Speaker 8: of them, maybe. Because, yeah, it is funny now that
- 6:07Speaker 8: you mention that. He was, like, what, 20, maybe?
- 6:09Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 6:10Speaker 8: There's no way he watched it originally.
- 6:12Speaker 4: No, no.
- 6:13Speaker 8: Yeah, it is funny how everything sort of comes back around. And, like, kids...
- 6:17Speaker 8: once again get excited about stuff that they shouldn't. They
- 6:22Speaker 8: shouldn't have ever gotten excited about. It's stuff their parents liked,
- 6:24Speaker 8: you know, or should have. Like, again, it's not, it
- 6:27Speaker 8: usually doesn't carry it over. Usually their parents were total squares, and, like,
- 6:30Speaker 8: now they're, like, super geeky, and they're into stuff that
- 6:33Speaker 8: was popular that their parents didn't want anything to do
- 6:35Speaker 8: with when they were that age.
- 6:37Speaker 9: But no matter what, I'm sure that he doesn't know
- 6:41Speaker 9: that it's the Aquamanics that live next door.
- 6:45Speaker 8: That is so sad that you know that.
- 6:47Speaker 9: I used to come home from Boy Scouts and hope
- 6:52Speaker 9: that I could come home early from Boy Scouts. So
- 6:54Speaker 9: it was on 8 o'clock on Monday nights. And I
- 6:57Speaker 9: thought ALF was just hilarious.
- 6:59Speaker 8: And it's not. I mean, it's one of those, like,
- 7:02Speaker 8: I think back on it now and I think how
- 7:05Speaker 8: audacious it was to, like, make that show. To be like, look,
- 7:10Speaker 8: we're going to make a show. The main character is
- 7:12Speaker 8: a puppet. He's going to sit on the couch most
- 7:14Speaker 8: of the time. And a lot of it, we're going
- 7:18Speaker 8: to talk about space. But really, we're just going to
- 7:20Speaker 8: sit in this house all day long.
- 7:22Speaker 9: It was a sci-fi show that had nothing to do
- 7:24Speaker 9: with science fiction.
- 7:25Speaker 8: I mean, they just referenced stuff all day long. They went, ha!
- 7:30Speaker 8: So that's pretty much it. I mean, yeah, at the time,
- 7:34Speaker 8: I remember thinking it was marginally amusing. I don't remember
- 7:38Speaker 8: being the biggest fan in the world, but I do
- 7:40Speaker 8: remember watching it quite a bit.
- 7:42Speaker 9: You know, Mrs. Achmanek's next gig was as Jerry Seinfeld's mom.
- 7:49Speaker 8: That's true. I don't think she changed.
- 7:51Speaker 1: No.
- 7:52Speaker 8: But if you want to get extra geeky on TV here,
- 7:55Speaker 8: if you watch, Jerry's dad changes like maybe three times.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:01Speaker 8: I know there's at least a difference.
- 8:02Speaker 9: There's at least two.
- 8:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:03Speaker 9: I know too.
- 8:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 8: There's at least two, but I'm thinking maybe at one
- 8:06Speaker 8: point it switched to a third guy. It's like they
- 8:08Speaker 8: hadn't made up their mind yet. And like within one season,
- 8:11Speaker 8: it switches like two different times. And then finally they
- 8:14Speaker 8: settle on that guy. And then that guy's dad for
- 8:17Speaker 8: the whole rest of the run of the show. But
- 8:19Speaker 8: it is funny when you hit those weird one-off episodes
- 8:21Speaker 8: that like things don't match up. Like they still hadn't
- 8:23Speaker 8: mapped out where they were going with characters or plot
- 8:26Speaker 8: lines and you get these weird things that look back,
- 8:29Speaker 8: you're like, what the hell's going on here?
- 8:31Speaker 9: Well, it's like the early years of, early two or
- 8:34Speaker 9: three episodes of How I Met Your Mother when Barney
- 8:37Speaker 9: really wasn't a player, and he really didn't have, you know,
- 8:42Speaker 9: fantastic luck with women. He was kind of lame. So,
- 8:45Speaker 9: still wore the suits, but It was, they're still feeling
- 8:49Speaker 9: that character out.
- 8:50Speaker 8: Yeah, it is interesting.
- 8:51Speaker 9: Everything comes back to How I Met Your Mother for me.
- 8:53Speaker 8: Yeah, it's so sad.
- 8:54Speaker 9: I watch it while I wash dishes on my iPad
- 8:56Speaker 9: that I have set up on the ledge in front
- 8:58Speaker 9: of the kitchen sink. So sad, so sad. No, I'm
- 9:02Speaker 9: the lamest person I know. That's okay.
- 9:04Speaker 8: I don't care. I mean, you get to use celebrity entrance.
- 9:07Speaker 8: I mean, you're a pretty big shot around here.
- 9:10Speaker 5: Right.
- 9:10Speaker 9: You know, it's funny how we went from walking around
- 9:13Speaker 9: the convention to talking about Seinfeld. In a very smooth transition.
- 9:19Speaker 8: It's not much different for us. Geek is geek. It
- 9:23Speaker 8: all sort of revolves around the same thing, really.
- 9:26Speaker 9: We're not going to get interrupted by any more body
- 9:28Speaker 9: art people. We're in a room that's supposed to be
- 9:31Speaker 9: for body art.
- 9:32Speaker 8: We claimed it. It's for Movie Meltdown.
- 9:34Speaker 5: Right.
- 9:35Speaker 9: We've got six tables set up for Movie Meltdown and water.
- 9:39Speaker 8: This is our new podcasting station for the moment, and
- 9:42Speaker 8: we'll be making use of it until we're damn good
- 9:44Speaker 8: and ready to leave.
- 9:45Speaker 9: We basically keep telling people that the body art's not here.
- 9:50Speaker 8: Well, it's not.
- 9:51Speaker 9: And they're leaving.
- 9:53Speaker 8: Unless we're going to showcase our work. I don't think
- 9:56Speaker 8: this is it.
- 9:56Speaker 9: The body art people are going to come in, and
- 9:58Speaker 9: all the people aren't here. because we've run them off.
- 10:01Speaker 8: Hey all we said is we haven't seen anybody except
- 10:03Speaker 8: the people wandering around looking for a show but they're
- 10:06Speaker 8: looking for a lot of other stuff around here people.
- 10:08Speaker 9: Can stay we didn't ask anybody no i.
- 10:10Speaker 8: Actually wanted to kind of have them come sit down
- 10:12Speaker 8: and start talking to us about you know movies and
- 10:15Speaker 8: Their going's on at the convention this week. But, you know,
- 10:17Speaker 8: what are you going to do?
- 10:18Speaker 9: I wouldn't be surprised if one of the convention staff
- 10:20Speaker 9: does kick us out before.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Too long, though.
- 10:22Speaker 8: I would think it's about to happen.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Right.
- 10:24Speaker 9: It's going to happen.
- 10:26Speaker 8: Well, that being the case, maybe we should lead right
- 10:28Speaker 8: into this week's guest.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Okay.
- 10:31Speaker 8: And our special guest co-host for this segment. And we'll
- 10:37Speaker 8: be watching a movie and discussing it as well. All right.
- 10:41Speaker 8: Hopefully you've done your homework and you've already watched this movie.
- 10:43Speaker 8: So if not, you should have been listening and you
- 10:47Speaker 8: probably should have been paying attention to the Facebook page.
- 10:50Speaker 8: So we will be sitting down with Zach Galligan and
- 10:53Speaker 8: we'll be having a little catch-up session with him and
- 10:57Speaker 8: getting into the movie this week.
- 10:59Speaker 4: All right.
- 11:00Speaker 8: We will take a break and come back with it.
- 11:02Speaker 7: I'm gonna take it all I'm gonna.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Be the last one.
- 11:07Speaker 5: Standing Golden, pure, creamery butter. Rich, flavorful, satisfying. That's what
- 11:34Speaker 5: it takes for the finest buttered popcorn, and that's what
- 11:36Speaker 5: we use. See for yourself why there's no showtime treat
- 11:40Speaker 5: to equal the crisp, delicious flavor of hot popcorn that's
- 11:42Speaker 5: bathed in real melted butter. It's at the concession stand now.
- 11:47Speaker 11: Isaac Hayes is Truck Turner. He's got six deadly pieces
- 11:53Speaker 11: in his arsenal and six sexy ones in his stable.
- 11:57Speaker 3: There ain't no Mac here's man enough to ice Truck Turner.
- 12:02Speaker 11: If he gets you, you're cold meat. If you get him,
- 12:07Speaker 11: you get them. And that ain't cold at all. Isaac
- 12:11Speaker 11: Hayes is Trock Turner. Rated R. Under 17. Not admitted
- 12:16Speaker 11: without parent.

- 13:00Speaker 5: I'm dynamite.
- 13:02Speaker 7: TNT.
- 13:21Speaker 8: All right, so we are back here with Zach. And
- 13:24Speaker 8: I did want to have you, and I don't know
- 13:27Speaker 8: if you remember this, have you back on. Because technically many,
- 13:30Speaker 8: many years ago, it was a very limited little basic interview.
- 13:36Speaker 10: But I had you on, and it happened to be
- 13:39Speaker 10: the very.
- 13:39Speaker 8: First episode of Movie Meltdown. Really?
- 13:42Speaker 1: And what was, and where was I?
- 13:43Speaker 10: You were at, it's one of the Horror Hounds.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Oh, well, I've only been to one, so that's. it's
- 13:50Speaker 1: it was indie 2008.
- 13:51Speaker 8: Yep it was 2008 i do.
- 13:53Speaker 1: September right before the election i remember.
- 13:55Speaker 8: It because we were and it was very minimal i
- 13:57Speaker 8: didn't even have this much because a lot of that
- 13:59Speaker 8: stuff was still we've sort of just gotten into the
- 14:02Speaker 8: audio so we were we were still doing a lot
- 14:05Speaker 8: of print stuff at the time so i wasn't even
- 14:06Speaker 8: sure if it was going to be like a print
- 14:08Speaker 8: piece so it's it's a very minimal little thing but
- 14:11Speaker 8: but it was just enough to realize that you kind
- 14:13Speaker 8: of got how the show went. So I was like, okay,
- 14:15Speaker 8: you would definitely be up to one of the more
- 14:18Speaker 8: in-depth movie discussions.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Oh, I would think so. I would think so, yeah.
- 14:21Speaker 8: But yeah, I thought.
- 14:23Speaker 10: That was kind of cool that you had the honor
- 14:24Speaker 10: of being our first interview.
- 14:26Speaker 8: Wow, cool.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 14:28Speaker 8: And it was a Christmas episode.
- 14:29Speaker 6: Excellent.
- 14:30Speaker 8: I guess you get a lot of Christmassy stuff.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you were thinking ahead in September for December.
- 14:35Speaker 10: All part of the plan.
- 14:36Speaker 1: All part of the plan.
- 14:38Speaker 8: But I guess just a little, like, catch up for people?
- 14:41Speaker 8: You know, what have you been up to since then?
- 14:44Speaker 8: Or tell people what you've got going?
- 14:48Speaker 1: Well, I don't know when you're going to do this,
- 14:49Speaker 1: but by the time this comes out, I would imagine
- 14:52Speaker 1: that Hatchet 3 will be on Blu-ray since it's coming
- 14:56Speaker 1: out on August 13th, 2013. Should be.
- 14:59Speaker 8: So, yeah.
- 15:02Speaker 1: So, you can check me out in that playing Sheriff
- 15:05Speaker 1: Louis Fowler in the pulse-pounding... conclusion to Adam Green's Hatchet
- 15:10Speaker 1: trilogy directed by B.J. McDonald. So that's basically the most
- 15:14Speaker 1: exciting thing filmically I've had in quite some time.
- 15:18Speaker 8: That seemed like it was a pretty sizable role.
- 15:21Speaker 1: You can kind of argue that I'm the lead or
- 15:23Speaker 1: the co-lead along with Caroline Williams. Danielle Harris obviously has
- 15:27Speaker 1: a good part in it and Kane Hodder obviously has
- 15:30Speaker 1: a good part in it too. But I think if
- 15:32Speaker 1: you look at the size, now that the movie's finished,
- 15:35Speaker 1: if you look at the size of the roles... Basically,
- 15:38Speaker 1: it comes down to mine and Caroline's character.
- 15:41Speaker 8: Very cool. We actually just had Adam on recently.
- 15:44Speaker 7: Really?
- 15:45Speaker 8: Yeah, he's awesome, and he speaks highly of BJ. So
- 15:49Speaker 8: I'm interested to see, just as a director, what his
- 15:53Speaker 8: take on it. How was he to work with?
- 15:55Speaker 1: How was he to work with?
- 15:56Speaker 8: He was great.
- 15:57Speaker 1: You're talking about Adam or BJ? Which one?
- 15:59Speaker 5: BJ.
- 16:00Speaker 8: He directed this third one.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Yeah, BJ. I mean, this is his first movie, so
- 16:03Speaker 1: obviously a little nervous in the beginning because it's a
- 16:06Speaker 1: big undertaking for him. But he certainly knows what he's doing.
- 16:08Speaker 1: He knows shot selection. He has a very good visual sense. Obviously,
- 16:12Speaker 1: he's an excellent camera operator. So, you know, they shot
- 16:16Speaker 1: in anamorphic. So I think the picture looks great. Have
- 16:19Speaker 1: you seen it, by the way?
- 16:20Speaker 8: Not the third one yet.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Not the third one.
- 16:22Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:22Speaker 1: It looks fantastic. I mean, it looks noticeably, to me anyway,
- 16:30Speaker 1: it looks kind of larger and bigger than the other two.
- 16:33Speaker 1: And that also comes from shooting on location in Louisiana, California.
- 16:38Speaker 1: And not in a studio.
- 16:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:40Speaker 1: You know?
- 16:41Speaker 8: Well, I guess anything else? Were you, it seemed like
- 16:45Speaker 8: last time you were teaching as well?
- 16:47Speaker 1: Still teaching. I'm teaching tomorrow morning.
- 16:49Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 16:50Speaker 8: You got to get back to work?
- 16:51Speaker 1: That's why I was freaking out. If I wasn't working tomorrow,
- 16:53Speaker 1: I wouldn't care about my flight being canceled. But I
- 16:55Speaker 1: have to be at work at 1030 in the morning.
- 16:57Speaker 1: So I was like, I got to be there.
- 16:59Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 17:00Speaker 8: Is it just straight acting?
- 17:02Speaker 1: It's kind of auditioning. I teach them how to do
- 17:05Speaker 1: commercials and also how to do monologues so that they
- 17:09Speaker 1: can meet agents and managers and kind of get a
- 17:13Speaker 1: foot in the door.
- 17:13Speaker 8: All right. Well, I guess since you've got to get
- 17:19Speaker 8: to work tomorrow, we should get right into the movie.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 17:22Speaker 4: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 17:26Speaker 2: In 1971, William Friedkin directed The French Connection. It received
- 17:31Speaker 2: five Academy Awards, including Best Picture of the Year, In 1974,
- 17:37Speaker 2: he directed The Exorcist. It made history. Since then, Friedkin
- 17:42Speaker 2: has spent over two years in five countries on three continents,
- 17:46Speaker 2: creating his latest film, an unusual adventure into the realm
- 17:50Speaker 2: of suspense. Four men, condemned by their past, robbed of
- 18:00Speaker 2: their future, trapped in a life that was also a death.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Four men take an incredible chance, face an impossible challenge,
- 18:10Speaker 2: and risk the.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Only thing they have left to lose.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Roy Scheider in a new film by William Friedkin, Sorcerer.
- 18:24Speaker 8: This week's Sofa Theater feature is Sorcerer, the year is 1977,
- 18:28Speaker 8: director William Friedkin, and the plot, according to IMDb, which
- 18:32Speaker 8: is always pretty sketchy, I'm just going to cap it
- 18:34Speaker 8: off at about the first sentence because it goes on.
- 18:37Speaker 8: A group of outcasts from different backgrounds and nationalities are
- 18:40Speaker 8: forced by misfortune to work for an oil drilling operation
- 18:44Speaker 8: in South America. And there's a fire and there's dynamite.
- 18:47Speaker 8: Never mind.
- 18:48Speaker 10: Spoiler alert.
- 18:49Speaker 8: We'll get to the rest later. But that's the very
- 18:51Speaker 8: basic overview that they give us. So I'm actually glad
- 18:56Speaker 8: that you chose this movie. So what.
- 18:59Speaker 10: I guess what led you to this one?
- 19:01Speaker 8: I have a feeling it's one of your favorite movies.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's up there. It's an incredibly gritty movie, and
- 19:10Speaker 1: I kind of, from a screenplay standpoint, really like it
- 19:13Speaker 1: because it's interesting how it starts. It's very confusing. You
- 19:18Speaker 1: have just storyline number one, and then storyline number two,
- 19:22Speaker 1: number three, number four, all about four different characters right
- 19:24Speaker 1: at one after another. So after about 25 minutes, you're like,
- 19:27Speaker 1: what is this movie about? Because I don't understand how
- 19:30Speaker 1: any of it kind of is, you know, holds together
- 19:33Speaker 1: and is cohesive.
- 19:34Speaker 10: Yeah, you're a good 15 minutes or more in before
- 19:36Speaker 10: you get to Roy Schreier.
- 19:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:37Speaker 8: And you're like, wait, that's my guy. Exactly.
- 19:40Speaker 1: That's the guy in the front of the box. I
- 19:41Speaker 1: need that guy. Yeah. And then they very wisely follow
- 19:45Speaker 1: him to wherever it's down in, like, you know, it's
- 19:48Speaker 1: supposed to be, I guess, Nicaragua coast or someplace like
- 19:50Speaker 1: that down in Central America. And he shows up. And
- 19:53Speaker 1: then the three people that you saw on the other
- 19:55Speaker 1: storylines show up, too. And you go, oh, I see.
- 19:58Speaker 1: I get it now. Everyone's, we saw a little bit
- 20:01Speaker 1: of this, a little bit of that, a little bit
- 20:02Speaker 1: of that person's life, a little bit of that person's life.
- 20:04Speaker 1: And now they're all ending up in the same place
- 20:06Speaker 1: together as a group of outcasts.
- 20:09Speaker 5: Cool.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Very, very cool.
- 20:10Speaker 4: You're in the workers' hotel. Yeah. I like the southern exposure. Yes.
- 20:18Speaker 2: I thought about it myself. I understand you used to
- 20:25Speaker 2: be in banking.
- 20:28Speaker 4: That's the rumor.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I have no idea it was the subject of rumors.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Carlos here used to be an ex-rights marshal.
- 20:38Speaker 5: Right, Carlos?
- 20:43Speaker 4: What is your profession?
- 20:45Speaker 8: Mister?
- 20:47Speaker 9: Dominguez.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Dominguez.
- 20:50Speaker 9: Ice hockey. Read about this place in a travel brochure?
- 20:56Speaker 4: I heard it had a healthy climate. Not what you expected.
- 21:03Speaker 2: It was exactly what I expected.
- 21:06Speaker 10: It is really interesting structuring.
- 21:07Speaker 8: It is something, yeah, because that's the thing. I had
- 21:10Speaker 8: almost forgotten that very first guy when the hit happens
- 21:13Speaker 8: at the very beginning. And, like, you get midway in,
- 21:16Speaker 8: you're like, oh, yeah, that really is, like, so far
- 21:18Speaker 8: into the movie. You're like, I do have to kind
- 21:20Speaker 8: of go back and realize how much this.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Was all plotted out. It is a little confusing. But
- 21:25Speaker 1: then I think basically by about the 40-minute mark, you're
- 21:29Speaker 1: pretty much clued in. And then you're kind of excited.
- 21:32Speaker 1: And then there's the oil rig explosion fire, which is
- 21:34Speaker 1: another– Another great sequence. That's probably one of the things
- 21:37Speaker 1: that I like about this film is that it's got
- 21:39Speaker 1: some amazing sequences in it. There are bits and pieces
- 21:43Speaker 1: of the movie where you're like, eh, I don't know,
- 21:44Speaker 1: that's not that great, you know, or it's okay. But
- 21:47Speaker 1: the stuff that's good in it is so good. The
- 21:51Speaker 1: truck going over the bridge in this storm is amazing.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Once you see it, you'll never forget it.
- 21:57Speaker 8: Either that's the thing it goes through that smaller bridge
- 21:59Speaker 8: at first you're like oh that was rough and then
- 22:02Speaker 8: like 10 minutes later they end up on that second
- 22:04Speaker 8: really long broken rope bridge i'm just like oh my
- 22:08Speaker 8: god like that yeah it's like they're sort of fake
- 22:11Speaker 8: you out on that first one you're like that was
- 22:13Speaker 8: rough i didn't think he's gonna make it across the
- 22:14Speaker 8: and then like that mess that that second bridge is.
- 22:17Speaker 1: That second bridge is such a disaster and the way
- 22:21Speaker 1: he builds the tension with the cutting and the editing
- 22:24Speaker 1: And the guy in the rain seemingly screaming 50 times,
- 22:28Speaker 1: get back, stop, slow down, slow down. It gets you
- 22:32Speaker 1: so anxious.
- 22:33Speaker 8: He's going to get run over.
- 22:33Speaker 1: It gets you so anxious, that sequence. Then, in a
- 22:38Speaker 1: kind of lesser sequence that's just kind of amazing and badass,
- 22:41Speaker 1: is the massive tree. Almost like a redwood, or I
- 22:46Speaker 1: don't know what kind, just a gigantic tree that's blocking
- 22:48Speaker 1: the road. And they have to figure out a way
- 22:50Speaker 1: to get it off. The way they figure out how
- 22:52Speaker 1: to get it off and the sequence of everything and,
- 22:56Speaker 1: of course, the subsequent destruction of the tree. That whole
- 23:00Speaker 1: sequence is so fantastically shot and edited. It's really... I
- 23:06Speaker 1: don't know who the editor... Do you know who the
- 23:07Speaker 1: editor was on the movie? The editor was fantastic. It is, yeah.
- 23:10Speaker 8: It is so well put together. But then, like, that's
- 23:12Speaker 8: the other thing. It's like it's... I'm glad they came
- 23:15Speaker 8: to that conclusion because that was like as soon as
- 23:17Speaker 8: they got to that tree and Roy's kind of freaking out.
- 23:19Speaker 8: I'm just like, you do know you're sitting on six
- 23:22Speaker 8: boxes of dynamite.
- 23:23Speaker 5: Right.
- 23:24Speaker 8: Granted, they're unstable, but there's got to be a way
- 23:26Speaker 8: to get that out of your way.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure.
- 23:29Speaker 8: I was like, thank God they didn't try to do
- 23:30Speaker 8: something else. I was like, it's just it's too simple.
- 23:33Speaker 8: You got to you're going to get killed doing it
- 23:35Speaker 8: more than likely.
- 23:35Speaker 10: But that's your plan.
- 23:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:37Speaker 8: Right there.
- 23:37Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah.
- 23:38Speaker 1: And you know what's interesting about the film, too, is
- 23:40Speaker 1: there are great performances all the way through the movie
- 23:43Speaker 1: from these other people, like Bruno Kramer and everything. People
- 23:46Speaker 1: you've never even heard of in your life. And they
- 23:49Speaker 1: show up and they do these excellent performances. And then
- 23:52Speaker 1: you never hear from them again.
- 23:53Speaker 8: That's what, yeah. I'm just trying to write down the
- 23:57Speaker 8: basic leads. Yeah, it's like Francisco Rabal.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Francisco Rabal's amazing in it. Bruno Kramer's amazing in it.
- 24:04Speaker 8: Amadou?
- 24:05Speaker 1: Amadou, the guy who just has one name, and I
- 24:07Speaker 1: guess that's all he needs because he kicks ass. He's
- 24:09Speaker 1: awesome in it. And all of these people, and obviously
- 24:12Speaker 1: Roy Scheider is good. I think one of the reasons
- 24:15Speaker 1: also that I have a soft spot in this for
- 24:18Speaker 1: Sorcerer is that I worked with Roy Scheider in 1982.
- 24:21Speaker 1: He played my dad in a movie called Prisoner Without
- 24:23Speaker 1: a Name, Cell Without a Number. And so I got
- 24:27Speaker 1: to spend about three, maybe four weeks. I don't really remember.
- 24:31Speaker 1: About a month. On location. Well, not really on location
- 24:36Speaker 1: because it was in New York and I lived there.
- 24:37Speaker 1: But I spent a month with Shudder and he played
- 24:41Speaker 1: my dad. And he's the only actor that played my
- 24:46Speaker 1: father that ever kissed me on the lips. There's a
- 24:50Speaker 1: scene where he's in prison.
- 24:51Speaker 8: And I haven't seen him in six months.
- 24:57Speaker 1: And my family, you know, I'm like 17 years old,
- 25:00Speaker 1: 18 years old, and I go see my father in prison.
- 25:02Speaker 1: And Roy Scheider, we didn't rehearse it this way, but
- 25:05Speaker 1: I guess he was just in the moment feeling it.
- 25:07Speaker 1: And so I walk into prison and Leif Ullman, the Swedish,
- 25:10Speaker 1: or actually he's actually Norwegian, everyone thinks he's Swedish, Swedish
- 25:13Speaker 1: actress who's playing my mom, walks into the prison and
- 25:16Speaker 1: he kisses her. You know, kisses her right on the lips, obviously,
- 25:18Speaker 1: because it's his wife, right? And then I'm his kid.
- 25:21Speaker 1: So I guess maybe he had kids and he would, like,
- 25:23Speaker 1: you know, as his dad, he would just kiss kids
- 25:25Speaker 1: on the lips because he loved them, you know, not
- 25:26Speaker 1: in a weird way. So he pretended I was his kid.
- 25:29Speaker 1: So he reached up and he grabs me and he
- 25:30Speaker 1: gives me a kiss smack right on the lips. And
- 25:32Speaker 1: he didn't tell me. Take one. And I was like,
- 25:35Speaker 1: the dude from Jaws just made out with me on camera.
- 25:38Speaker 1: And in the movie, you can totally see it because
- 25:41Speaker 1: they went with the first take. And you can see
- 25:43Speaker 1: me sort of like, whoa, I just got kissed by
- 25:46Speaker 1: Roy Scheider. It's like hysterical.
- 25:48Speaker 8: Aside from making out, was he very parental in the
- 25:52Speaker 8: time you were around?
- 25:53Speaker 1: No, he wasn't really all that parental.
- 25:56Speaker 8: Not very parental.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Not very parental. Well, here's the thing about Roy. And
- 26:03Speaker 1: he was a great guy. May he rest in peace
- 26:05Speaker 1: and everything like that. He had a very exciting time
- 26:08Speaker 1: in his career. It was 1982. He had just done
- 26:10Speaker 1: Blue Thunder. And he was kind of convinced that Blue
- 26:13Speaker 1: Thunder was going to come out and make him large.
- 26:17Speaker 10: I mean, it should have on paper.
- 26:19Speaker 8: Like the studio system being what it was, action movies.
- 26:22Speaker 10: I mean, it should have, really.
- 26:24Speaker 1: He thought it was going to come out and it
- 26:26Speaker 1: was going to make him like Bruce Willis. That's what
- 26:29Speaker 1: he thought. And he thought he was going to have
- 26:30Speaker 1: a Bruce Willis career sort of for the rest of
- 26:32Speaker 1: his career. He was going to be... That kind of guy.
- 26:34Speaker 1: You never know. No, you do never know. You never know.
- 26:38Speaker 1: And he had an Oscar nomination in 79, 80, you know,
- 26:43Speaker 1: March of 80, basically. And so that was only two
- 26:47Speaker 1: years ago. So he was, like, feeling really good. He'd
- 26:49Speaker 1: just done the movie that was coming out with him
- 26:52Speaker 1: and Streep in The Still of the Night. So he
- 26:56Speaker 1: was like, I just worked with Meryl. I got an
- 26:58Speaker 1: Oscar nomination. I got Blue Thunder coming out. I'm going
- 27:01Speaker 1: to be humongous.
- 27:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:03Speaker 1: And I think what happened was that he started to
- 27:09Speaker 1: kind of buy into that. So when we were shooting
- 27:12Speaker 1: the movie, he would show up like two, three hours late.
- 27:15Speaker 1: And we'd be like, call time was 8 a.m.? He
- 27:18Speaker 1: was like, not for me. And I was like, wow.
- 27:21Speaker 1: So he was not really that parental. But I will
- 27:24Speaker 1: say this for him. I mean, he gave 1,000% in
- 27:26Speaker 1: the performance. You know, when he showed up and did
- 27:29Speaker 1: his work, he was great. And he was totally cool
- 27:31Speaker 1: to me, you know. I mean, I'm only an 18-year-old kid,
- 27:35Speaker 1: so why on earth does he give a damn about me?
- 27:37Speaker 1: You know what I mean? But he was pretty sweet. So,
- 27:40Speaker 1: you know, he's Roy Scheider from Jaws and from Sorcerer.
- 27:43Speaker 1: So he was badass.
- 27:45Speaker 10: You're in the French Connection. You can do whatever you want, right?
- 27:47Speaker 1: French Connection, yeah.
- 27:49Speaker 5: Cloudy.
- 27:50Speaker 10: Well, that's okay if we're doing that.
- 27:52Speaker 8: And I'll only go into this because I just realized
- 27:55Speaker 8: it today when I was looking through the list. I
- 27:56Speaker 8: guess technically, if we're playing this game, I worked with
- 27:59Speaker 8: William Friedkin. In the most lame pedestrian way. You did?
- 28:03Speaker 10: I forgot. I'm looking through his list.
- 28:05Speaker 8: I forgot he directed Blue Chips.
- 28:08Speaker 5: Oh, right. Are you in that?
- 28:10Speaker 8: They shot the section where Nolte goes to try to
- 28:14Speaker 8: recruit the kid from Indiana. They shot in French Lick, Indiana,
- 28:19Speaker 8: where Larry Bird is from.
- 28:20Speaker 5: Oh, right.
- 28:21Speaker 8: They actually planned this whole little... That scene where they
- 28:23Speaker 8: have that whole parade, they planned this whole thing, and
- 28:26Speaker 8: they brought Nolte in, and Larry Bird was there, and...
- 28:29Speaker 8: I would assume. I mean, freaking would have had to
- 28:31Speaker 8: been on hand unless they sent the second unit to
- 28:34Speaker 8: do everything. But like they shot some other stuff in town.
- 28:36Speaker 8: So it's like I'm standing in a background as an
- 28:40Speaker 8: extra in one of those.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Very visible.
- 28:42Speaker 8: I went. Well, it's actually on Netflix now.
- 28:44Speaker 10: I went today. I didn't realize it was even on there.
- 28:46Speaker 10: And I got to that scene.
- 28:47Speaker 11: I'm like.
- 28:48Speaker 1: There I am.
- 28:49Speaker 8: It's like I can pick me out because I know
- 28:50Speaker 8: where I was standing, but it's a crowd scene. Of course.
- 28:53Speaker 8: There's a whole big shot.
- 28:54Speaker 1: But you're visible.
- 28:55Speaker 5: I'm there.
- 28:56Speaker 10: It's the only time, yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 1: So you're in a picture with Friedkin.
- 28:59Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm in one of those Friedkin movies.
- 29:02Speaker 8: I just thought that was funny because I'd forgotten he
- 29:04Speaker 8: was the director on that. It's so not one of
- 29:06Speaker 8: his kind of movies. It isn't.
- 29:08Speaker 1: It's very strange. It isn't. Well, it seems very much
- 29:11Speaker 1: kind of like a movie for hire.
- 29:13Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 29:13Speaker 1: But you know the thing, if you ask Friedkin... Not
- 29:17Speaker 1: that I have, but people have asked him, because he
- 29:20Speaker 1: does a lot of these Q & A sessions, and
- 29:24Speaker 1: you can find them online. And he says, you know,
- 29:26Speaker 1: there is no such thing as a William Friedkin film.
- 29:29Speaker 1: He hates to be pigeonholed, and he loves to do
- 29:32Speaker 1: all sorts of different movies. So his feeling is like,
- 29:36Speaker 1: you know, Deal of the Century, that movie he did, right?
- 29:38Speaker 1: Or or another, right. Deal of the century or, or
- 29:41Speaker 1: blue chips. He's like, that's just as much or Jade,
- 29:44Speaker 1: just as much a William Friedkin movie as anything else.
- 29:48Speaker 8: I mean, as I look through the list, I was like, well,
- 29:51Speaker 8: he is kind of all over the map. It's just like,
- 29:53Speaker 8: The only ones people really remember are the ones that sort.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Of all go together. And didn't he do Brink's job?
- 29:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Yeah. So he's like, he does some decent comedies too.
- 30:01Speaker 1: He can be funny. Obviously, he's such an intense, serious guy.
- 30:05Speaker 1: If you ever see even two minutes of any kind
- 30:08Speaker 1: of interview with him, he's a very serious and intense person. Yeah.
- 30:12Speaker 1: So it's hardly a surprise.
- 30:15Speaker 8: Well, I guess getting into his style, like it is
- 30:18Speaker 8: funny though that like even in this, which could be
- 30:21Speaker 8: a very like, standard cut and dry kind of like
- 30:24Speaker 8: action movie or whatever you get those scenes by the
- 30:27Speaker 8: end that become really sort of trippy and he does
- 30:30Speaker 8: those layering of shots like at the end when he's
- 30:33Speaker 8: driving the truck by himself and like he starts like
- 30:36Speaker 8: layering images over top of him and like having weird
- 30:38Speaker 8: little flashbacks and it almost hits that like exorcist mood
- 30:42Speaker 8: for a second like you can see those little glimpses
- 30:45Speaker 8: of the This.
- 30:45Speaker 10: Is the guy who just made The Exorcist.
- 30:47Speaker 8: And he has that mood, even in this movie, which
- 30:50Speaker 8: really doesn't call for it.
- 30:51Speaker 10: But it's just him. You can see that kind of
- 30:55Speaker 10: coming through, that he is that kind of filmmaker.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Well, I think the big mistake that they did with
- 31:01Speaker 1: the movie, and I think it came out the week
- 31:03Speaker 1: after Star Wars or something like that. They always claim that.
- 31:06Speaker 1: They always claim that. But I don't think that's the
- 31:08Speaker 1: problem with the movie. I think the problem with the
- 31:09Speaker 1: movie is that Friedkin was the director of The Exorcist.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Then they call the movie Sorcerer. And it has nothing
- 31:16Speaker 1: to do with the supernatural. It has to do with
- 31:19Speaker 1: trucks in Nicaragua. So why do you call it Sorcerer?
- 31:23Speaker 1: It's a total... It's misleading. It's very misleading. It's borderline fraudulent.
- 31:30Speaker 1: And so, yeah, it's the name of the truck. But
- 31:34Speaker 1: it has nothing to do with it. It still seemed
- 31:36Speaker 1: like it was very much.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Chosen.
- 31:40Speaker 8: Somebody at the studio.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Somebody at the studio said, let's get your Exorcist followers
- 31:44Speaker 1: in here to see this.
- 31:45Speaker 8: It's suspenseful.
- 31:45Speaker 1: It's the same thing. It's not even remotely the same thing.
- 31:48Speaker 1: It's totally a different picture. And I think people went
- 31:50Speaker 1: to see it expecting to see something spooky. And they
- 31:53Speaker 1: were like, it's this grim movie that takes place in
- 31:55Speaker 1: the jungle. They would have done a lot better if
- 31:57Speaker 1: they called it Grim Times in the Jungle than Sorcerer.
- 32:00Speaker 8: Death Truck.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Can I tell you something? Death Truck is a much
- 32:05Speaker 1: better title. Then Sorcerer. Because I said to my girlfriend,
- 32:08Speaker 1: I've got to show you Sorcerer. And she's like, oh, cool,
- 32:10Speaker 1: you're ghosting it? I'm like, no, it's about Chugs and
- 32:12Speaker 1: the Jets. So she did that right off the bat.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I said, it's by the guy who did The Exorcist.
- 32:16Speaker 1: And she's like, oh, my gosh, is there a cool
- 32:17Speaker 1: possession movie? I'm like, no. It's about four dead. And
- 32:20Speaker 1: she's like, what are you talking about? I said, yeah,
- 32:24Speaker 1: that was the problem with the movie, the title. It
- 32:26Speaker 1: was a misleading title. And people went to see it
- 32:29Speaker 1: expecting one thing. And they got something totally different. And
- 32:33Speaker 1: they were pissed.
- 32:33Speaker 8: Because even when you asked me the other day, you
- 32:35Speaker 8: were running through stuff we could watch, and you said that.
- 32:38Speaker 8: And that's why I hesitated. It wasn't because I was
- 32:41Speaker 8: trying to remember if I'd seen it. It's because I
- 32:42Speaker 8: was remembering some weird sword and sandal movie that has
- 32:46Speaker 8: something very similar to that title. It already seems like
- 32:50Speaker 8: it's going to fall into that sort of knockoff, straight-to-video
- 32:54Speaker 8: Conan wannabe movie.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 32:55Speaker 10: It seems like that's what it should be.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Totally.
- 32:57Speaker 8: And so, yeah, I mean, that had to hurt it
- 32:59Speaker 8: at the box office because nobody knew what it was.
- 33:01Speaker 8: How could it not hurt it at the box office?
- 33:03Speaker 1: It's almost an impossibility.
- 33:05Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 33:06Speaker 8: I'm also leaning towards my new title, Liquid Dynamite.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Liquid Dynamite. That's a 50 times better title than Sorcerer.
- 33:13Speaker 8: I'm going to start writing that now.
- 33:14Speaker 10: I don't know what's going to happen in Liquid Dynamite,
- 33:16Speaker 10: but it's going.
- 33:16Speaker 8: To be explosive.
- 33:17Speaker 1: It's a thousand times better than Sorcerer. Because Sorcerer, when
- 33:21Speaker 1: you say Sorcerer, you expect some guy in a cave
- 33:24Speaker 1: and he's rubbing something and he's conjuring something.
- 33:27Speaker 10: There's a crystal ball.
- 33:28Speaker 1: A crystal, but something like that. He's looking in the
- 33:30Speaker 1: thing and he's going, I see demons after you. That's
- 33:33Speaker 1: what you see. You don't see a bunch of down
- 33:36Speaker 1: and out foreign film actors. taking a truck through the
- 33:40Speaker 1: jungle full of nitroglycerin. You do not see that.
- 33:42Speaker 10: You don't expect the first 15 minutes to be subtitled.
- 33:45Speaker 1: You do not.
- 33:45Speaker 10: It's in French and it's in Italian or whatever.
- 33:48Speaker 1: It's totally true.
- 33:50Speaker 8: It starts off so weird.
- 33:51Speaker 1: You do not expect that.
- 33:53Speaker 8: It never comes to Sorcerer. It just doesn't.
- 33:54Speaker 10: So yeah, I agree.
- 33:55Speaker 8: That was what I was going to ask to begin with.
- 33:57Speaker 8: It was like, How much did that hurt it? How
- 34:01Speaker 8: about this? A ton. I guess nothing coming up against
- 34:05Speaker 8: Star Wars would have hurt it.
- 34:07Speaker 1: No, but that's not true. If you look at that
- 34:09Speaker 1: summer of 77, there were probably some other films that
- 34:11Speaker 1: were successful, weren't there?
- 34:12Speaker 8: They held their own.
- 34:13Speaker 10: They had to be.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Yeah, of course.
- 34:14Speaker 10: Mom and Dad had to go see something.
- 34:16Speaker 9: Something.
- 34:16Speaker 10: Goofy kids were off looking at this.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Yeah, totally.
- 34:20Speaker 4: That stuff has been sitting in the better part of
- 34:22Speaker 4: the year. It's worthless. What do you mean? It sits
- 34:25Speaker 4: for a.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Long time without being turned. That liquid nitro seeps out
- 34:28Speaker 3: of the sticks and into the bag. If you give
- 34:30Speaker 3: those cases any kind of a bump, it'll blow. It's
- 34:36Speaker 3: risky moving one of those cases 10 feet. That fire
- 34:38Speaker 3: is over.
- 34:39Speaker 9: 200 miles away.
- 34:41Speaker 4: If it were up there, could you use it? I
- 34:45Speaker 4: suppose we could boom load it a little bit.
- 34:46Speaker 8: At a time, yes.
- 34:47Speaker 3: How the hell are you going to get it up?
- 34:49Speaker 4: That's not your problem.
- 34:50Speaker 8: We'll get it up there. We were talking about the bridge.
- 34:54Speaker 8: I wrote down a few. There's a quote from Roy
- 34:57Speaker 8: that he's talking about being on that bridge in the
- 35:00Speaker 8: middle of the storm.
- 35:02Speaker 10: Poised over this lake.
- 35:03Speaker 8: Because they said they did a good amount of their
- 35:04Speaker 8: own stunts, too, which is amazing on that movie.
- 35:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Well, Friedkin, you know, again, is famous that way for he, like,
- 35:12Speaker 1: stunt crew. He's like, he's kind of, you can kind
- 35:13Speaker 1: of see Friedkin with his glasses, right, and his barking
- 35:16Speaker 1: voice going, stuntmen are for pussies. Can't you see him
- 35:19Speaker 1: like that on the set?
- 35:19Speaker 8: That's what I hired you for. Get in there.
- 35:21Speaker 1: You get it. Yeah, exactly. Still, what's the matter with you?
- 35:23Speaker 1: Get in there. Get in there, Nancy boy.
- 35:25Speaker 8: Well, that sounds like what happened because, yeah, the quote
- 35:28Speaker 8: from Roy is, did someone really talk me into doing that?
- 35:31Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 35:32Speaker 8: He's watching the footage after the fact and that's his comment.
- 35:34Speaker 8: It's like, how the hell did I get into this?
- 35:36Speaker 1: Apparently, freaking can talk people into doing a lot of stuff.
- 35:40Speaker 1: A lot of stuff. By the way, I'm not talking
- 35:44Speaker 1: down about freaking. I follow him on Twitter and to
- 35:46Speaker 1: my shock and amazement, he followed me back. It was
- 35:48Speaker 1: one of the great moments of my life.
- 35:49Speaker 8: Yeah, well, that's the thing. It's not like he, like,
- 35:53Speaker 8: went down over the years, it's like, again, looking at
- 35:56Speaker 8: the list, I forgot the movie he just did.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Killer Joe?
- 36:00Speaker 8: Yeah, Killer Joe.
- 36:01Speaker 10: Killer Joe was amazing.
- 36:02Speaker 8: And, like, again, it's not what you would expect from freaking.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Well, again, that goes back to that there's no kind
- 36:09Speaker 1: of such thing as a conventional freaking movie.
- 36:11Speaker 8: And it's like that one is such a pre-existing, like
- 36:14Speaker 8: they based it on that, I think it was a play.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a play.
- 36:17Speaker 10: And so, I mean, the fact that.
- 36:18Speaker 1: He's doing it to someone else's. The movie he did
- 36:21Speaker 1: before that, Bug, was also a Tracy Letts play with
- 36:24Speaker 1: Michael Shannon.
- 36:25Speaker 8: The fact that he can take someone else's idea and
- 36:28Speaker 8: still be able to adapt to it and still put
- 36:30Speaker 8: his own spin on it. Again, he's still turning in
- 36:33Speaker 8: amazing work even now.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. I mean, yeah. I don't know. Here's
- 36:41Speaker 1: the thing that he's got working against him. He's a
- 36:43Speaker 1: classic film director, but he's also 70-something.
- 36:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:46Speaker 1: And Hollywood, for right or wrong, freaks out about that.
- 36:49Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 36:50Speaker 1: They go, he's 70-plus director? Forget it. Why can't we
- 36:53Speaker 1: get some 30-year-old? You know what I mean? So they
- 36:55Speaker 1: freak out about that. But I would have thought, and
- 36:57Speaker 1: it may happen, I haven't checked his IMDb page like
- 36:59Speaker 1: you have, but does he have anything coming up?
- 37:02Speaker 10: I think that was the last one it had listed.
- 37:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:04Speaker 8: It was just Killer Joe. I don't remember seeing stuff
- 37:07Speaker 8: in production.
- 37:08Speaker 1: That movie was a terrific movie and a great performance
- 37:11Speaker 1: by Matthew McConaughey.
- 37:12Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 37:12Speaker 1: And you would have thought, let's put it this way,
- 37:15Speaker 1: if he was 42, his career would be humming right now.
- 37:19Speaker 1: It's only the fact that he's 72 and that, and
- 37:22Speaker 1: maybe he's, I mean, I don't know, maybe from a
- 37:24Speaker 1: certain standpoint, he could potentially be difficult to work with.
- 37:27Speaker 1: I could see him potentially just being like demanding, like
- 37:31Speaker 1: it needs to be, yes. Not just being a dick
- 37:35Speaker 1: for a dick's sake, but just saying like, it's gotta
- 37:37Speaker 1: be this way. I need this. This has to be
- 37:40Speaker 1: that way. If it goes over budget... But, you know,
- 37:42Speaker 1: BJ McDonald was Steadicam operator on Killer Joe. Nice. And
- 37:47Speaker 1: he loved Friedkin, but he said Friedkin did this. Friedkin
- 37:51Speaker 1: worked for either eight hours or ten hours, and if
- 37:55Speaker 1: they were in the middle of setting up for a shot,
- 37:56Speaker 1: he's like, ten hours? Okay, everybody home. So Friedkin does
- 37:59Speaker 1: not work, apparently, work long hours. He comes in, doesn't
- 38:04Speaker 1: rehearse a lot either. Like, does a lot of blocking rehearsal,
- 38:08Speaker 1: and then, like, oftentimes, does it, he's, like, two, three takes,
- 38:13Speaker 1: and that's it. And you either get it or you don't.
- 38:15Speaker 1: He is not a five-take or a ten-take guy, at
- 38:18Speaker 1: least not on Killer Joe. That I know for a
- 38:21Speaker 1: fact from B.J.
- 38:21Speaker 9: McDonald.
- 38:22Speaker 8: Interesting. So I guess, yeah, I mean, there are some
- 38:24Speaker 8: that are super, like, really into working with the actors,
- 38:28Speaker 8: and then there are other guys that are more technical,
- 38:30Speaker 8: and they're like, I hired you to do the performance,
- 38:33Speaker 8: you show up, you bring that end of it, I'll
- 38:35Speaker 8: do a couple, you know, they do seem like I'm
- 38:37Speaker 8: going to do a couple takes, and hopefully you've got it,
- 38:39Speaker 8: because that's what I brought you here for. Exactly. So, yeah,
- 38:42Speaker 8: I mean, that's, I guess, how is that, just from
- 38:45Speaker 8: having done that, how is that to work with, like,
- 38:48Speaker 8: doing both versions of that? Which do you prefer, I.
- 38:51Speaker 12: Guess, as a.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Between which and which?
- 38:53Speaker 10: Between, like, having.
- 38:55Speaker 8: A director that really takes time to work with you
- 38:57Speaker 8: and gives you what he wants out of your performance
- 39:00Speaker 8: versus one that's just more on the technical end that
- 39:03Speaker 8: brings you in and says, okay, hopefully you're ready for
- 39:06Speaker 8: this because I've got the stuff blocked out. You do
- 39:08Speaker 8: the acting.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I would be lying if I didn't
- 39:12Speaker 1: say the former. But the latter is there are advantages
- 39:15Speaker 1: to working with someone who just sets it up and says, listen,
- 39:18Speaker 1: we've got to do this in two or three takes.
- 39:20Speaker 1: First of all, there's something exciting there. Almost every actor
- 39:24Speaker 1: I've ever met hasn't really started as a film actor.
- 39:27Speaker 1: They start as a stage actor, and then they gravitate
- 39:29Speaker 1: to film. and learn how to make the shift and
- 39:32Speaker 1: everything like that. So most actors are not... freaked out by, hey, man,
- 39:38Speaker 1: you've got to do it once or twice and that's it.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Because when you do a play, you only get one chance.
- 39:42Speaker 5: Right.
- 39:43Speaker 1: So that doesn't necessarily freak you out. So there is
- 39:46Speaker 1: an edgy kind of exciting quality to that. At the
- 39:49Speaker 1: end of the day, though, if you're a bit of
- 39:51Speaker 1: a perfectionist, you kind of want more than two cracks
- 39:55Speaker 1: at it because you do think, shoot, you know, I
- 39:57Speaker 1: can– I can do better than that. And, and, and,
- 40:00Speaker 1: and also now I feel like, wow, I've really getting
- 40:03Speaker 1: gotten to the emotional point and they're moving on and
- 40:05Speaker 1: it's over. And like, if you did the third one
- 40:07Speaker 1: now I would be on fire and, and they don't care.
- 40:10Speaker 1: They've moved on.
- 40:10Speaker 8: There's such different approaches to all of this stuff, the
- 40:13Speaker 8: directing and the acting and the fact that they all
- 40:15Speaker 8: have to kind of meet at the right place at
- 40:17Speaker 8: the right time to get that perfect.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 40:20Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Performance.
- 40:21Speaker 5: Oh yeah.
- 40:21Speaker 4: Everybody.
- 40:22Speaker 9: It's, it's interesting.
- 40:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:24Speaker 8: Yeah, it makes it difficult, I guess, to plan any
- 40:26Speaker 8: of that stuff out, not knowing who you're going to
- 40:27Speaker 8: end up working with until you're in the middle of it.
- 40:30Speaker 10: And he's shoving you over a bridge in a rainstorm.
- 40:32Speaker 1: You know, yeah, exactly. You know, the flip side on
- 40:36Speaker 1: what you just mentioned, though, is that sometimes you get
- 40:38Speaker 1: 10 or 15 takes and the take that you thought
- 40:41Speaker 1: was really good on number 12, they look back at
- 40:44Speaker 1: it again, they go, you know, number two actually has
- 40:45Speaker 1: kind of a reality and a freshness and an immediacy
- 40:49Speaker 1: that we kind of didn't notice. But now that we're
- 40:51Speaker 1: looking at it back and it's frozen and you just
- 40:53Speaker 1: look at it, You know, the freshness and the immediacy
- 40:55Speaker 1: of those first takes were pretty good. So it's really
- 40:58Speaker 1: kind of like, it's kind of six of one, half
- 41:00Speaker 1: a dozen of another, to be honest.
- 41:01Speaker 8: And then it comes back to the editing. And then
- 41:03Speaker 8: they're just like, well, artwork's best.
- 41:05Speaker 10: So get a good editing.
- 41:06Speaker 5: Yep.
- 41:07Speaker 8: The other part of this that I wanted to go into,
- 41:09Speaker 8: other than all the super tense and explosive scenes, literally sometimes.
- 41:14Speaker 8: The town that they live in.
- 41:17Speaker 1: The which?
- 41:18Speaker 10: The town that they live in. That little town that they.
- 41:20Speaker 9: All end up in.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Oh, the town, yeah.
- 41:21Speaker 8: It's so amazing because he spends a good amount of
- 41:24Speaker 8: time there and really sort of invests. a decent amount
- 41:28Speaker 8: of the story into just sort of giving you the
- 41:30Speaker 8: sense of, like, we could have just glossed over that
- 41:33Speaker 8: part in, like, five minutes, but he spends a little
- 41:36Speaker 8: part of the movie there where we get a good
- 41:37Speaker 8: sense of that bar that they hang out in, these
- 41:40Speaker 8: horrible little places that they live, the job that they
- 41:43Speaker 8: go to, and, like, you get a real, like, feeling
- 41:46Speaker 8: of how, like, desolate and hopeless that town is.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you know, that also, if you look at Friedkin,
- 41:54Speaker 1: he's such a detailed guy.
- 41:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:56Speaker 1: And so I bet the location scout on Sorcerer was
- 42:00Speaker 1: tearing his or her hair out because I bet he
- 42:03Speaker 1: looked at 40 different villages until he found the one
- 42:07Speaker 1: that he really was like, here we go. This is
- 42:09Speaker 1: exactly what I see in my skull, how kind of
- 42:12Speaker 1: like dilapidated and impoverished and how people were just, you know,
- 42:19Speaker 1: what I always think of it. See, this is the
- 42:21Speaker 1: way I always think. Anytime I see a town like that,
- 42:24Speaker 1: I would think, if I lived down there, I'd spruce
- 42:26Speaker 1: it up. I wouldn't just sit and stare off and
- 42:29Speaker 1: look at the goats and look at everything fall to shit.
- 42:32Speaker 1: I would actually kind of try and spruce up the town,
- 42:36Speaker 1: pick something up, pick some garbage, try and fix the
- 42:38Speaker 1: roads and everything like that. Why don't the people who
- 42:41Speaker 1: live in those towns spruce up their town? I don't know.
- 42:44Speaker 1: I don't understand that.
- 42:45Speaker 10: My favorite thing in the town was.
- 42:47Speaker 8: And again, this is so minor, but it shows somebody
- 42:50Speaker 8: who's really... putting an effort into making this film and
- 42:54Speaker 8: inserting things in there. It's almost like there's this little
- 42:58Speaker 8: ray of hope in this horrible town, and it's Coca-Cola.
- 43:02Speaker 5: Yep.
- 43:02Speaker 10: That shot of him just.
- 43:03Speaker 8: Staring, like he's staring at the girl in the painting
- 43:06Speaker 8: at first, and then he equally as longingly looks at
- 43:11Speaker 8: the Coca-Cola that she's holding.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Well, that was also so much more true back in
- 43:16Speaker 1: the 70s before sort of the corporate explosion where the
- 43:19Speaker 1: tiniest little taste of America and your home and your
- 43:24Speaker 1: previous experiences is like gold, gold nuggets. Now there's Coca-Cola everywhere.
- 43:29Speaker 1: You can get it, yeah. But back then.
- 43:32Speaker 8: But I like that he worked it in like a
- 43:33Speaker 8: little while later when he gets taken into the police station.
- 43:36Speaker 8: That's the only time you ever see is the cops
- 43:39Speaker 8: have one and he's drinking a nice cold Coca-Cola and
- 43:42Speaker 8: I'm like, The cops who are taking a bribe at
- 43:45Speaker 8: that point are the only guys that have any level
- 43:48Speaker 8: of comfort and have any niceties of life. This episode
- 43:54Speaker 8: is not sponsored by Coca-Cola, by the way, but if
- 43:56Speaker 8: they'd like to send a check, feel free. But yeah,
- 43:58Speaker 8: I just thought that was funny that that little touch
- 44:00Speaker 8: that's thrown in there is just like something like that
- 44:03Speaker 8: thrown in this depressing little town. It's something as basic
- 44:08Speaker 8: as a Coke. is like a big deal.
- 44:11Speaker 10: You know, and you have to kind of pay attention
- 44:12Speaker 10: to catch that stuff.
- 44:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:15Speaker 8: I kind of like that. But I guess just, I mean,
- 44:19Speaker 8: when you get to that last half of this movie,
- 44:21Speaker 8: like that's kind of what it's all about. Like all
- 44:23Speaker 8: of those scenes, like it just continually goes from one
- 44:26Speaker 8: tense scene to another. So you get, like, the first
- 44:30Speaker 8: little bridge scene, and you get the road. Like, those
- 44:33Speaker 8: roads crumbling underneath the tires are, like, still, like, that
- 44:37Speaker 8: is so, like, hard to watch. Because I'm like, I
- 44:40Speaker 8: know they actually shot this stuff, and he probably was, like,
- 44:43Speaker 8: that close to killing these guys.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:45Speaker 10: Because they, like, reading on it, they said they actually
- 44:48Speaker 10: had to build some of those roads. They weren't even
- 44:50Speaker 10: there when they got there.
- 44:52Speaker 8: And they built them to fall apart.
- 44:53Speaker 1: That's freaking. Underneath the truck. That's freaking.
- 44:55Speaker 8: That's amazing.
- 44:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 44:57Speaker 8: But, yeah, I mean, then you get through, like, all
- 45:00Speaker 8: of those little scenes. Once you get, like, even through
- 45:02Speaker 8: the bridge, like, then you get through the next, like,
- 45:04Speaker 8: even when they get to the calm part of the drive,
- 45:07Speaker 8: when they start, like, reminiscing about, you know, the wife
- 45:10Speaker 8: back home.
- 45:11Speaker 1: But once they start doing that, you know that something
- 45:14Speaker 1: really bad is going to happen. The soldier just showed
- 45:17Speaker 1: you the picture.
- 45:17Speaker 8: Of his girlfriend back home in this war movie.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Or the cop just said, you know, I only got
- 45:21Speaker 1: seven hours left on the job before I collect my pension.
- 45:23Speaker 8: About to retire.
- 45:25Speaker 1: About to retire.
- 45:26Speaker 8: Oh, no.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Or you're wearing a red shirt and beaming down onto
- 45:30Speaker 1: a planet.
- 45:31Speaker 8: It might have been. As soon as he started talking about.
- 45:33Speaker 1: The wife, I was just like, oh. See, that's why now,
- 45:35Speaker 1: and here's another one that they do now. You watch
- 45:37Speaker 1: television shows, like these kind of grim television shows, like
- 45:41Speaker 1: Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad or Justified or anything
- 45:44Speaker 1: like that that are kind of edgy, and the wife
- 45:46Speaker 1: gets pregnant. You go, oh, no. Here we go. He's
- 45:51Speaker 1: a goner.
- 45:52Speaker 8: But yeah that's but again that's like you really like
- 45:56Speaker 8: that was kind of the next character that I got
- 45:58Speaker 8: so attached to like the French guy is like he
- 46:01Speaker 8: seems like he has this interesting backstory that we really
- 46:04Speaker 8: even with that little intro at the beginning we only
- 46:06Speaker 8: get kind of a glimpse of and you haven't figured
- 46:08Speaker 8: out exactly what all he was involved in.
- 46:11Speaker 10: And the whole like the guy killing.
- 46:13Speaker 8: Himself and like I don't know like the fact that
- 46:15Speaker 8: he just takes off in the middle of dinner with
- 46:17Speaker 8: his wife like it was a pretty heavy situation he
- 46:19Speaker 8: was involved in so it's like I kind of wanted
- 46:22Speaker 8: to see where else it could have gone. But, yeah,
- 46:24Speaker 8: once he started talking about her and bringing the watch out,
- 46:26Speaker 8: I'm like, oh, that's it.
- 46:28Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 46:30Speaker 8: And we knew, like, we knew the fact that they
- 46:33Speaker 8: had two trucks. I mean, they worked into the story
- 46:35Speaker 8: to make it smart. That's their backup. But I'm like, well,
- 46:38Speaker 8: we know we're seeing one of these trucks go up. Like,
- 46:40Speaker 8: that's just, you know, that's good movie making.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Otherwise, what's the point?
- 46:42Speaker 8: Yeah, why would you?
- 46:43Speaker 10: I mean, if you weren't going to show one blow up,
- 46:45Speaker 10: you'd just give them one truck in the plot line.
- 46:46Speaker 8: That's right.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Like, we know one of these trucks is going to
- 46:48Speaker 1: blow up. But you know if you've got two trucks
- 46:50Speaker 1: and they're both filled with nitroglycerin, Can we please see
- 46:52Speaker 1: one explosion?
- 46:53Speaker 8: At least we need one to explode.
- 46:55Speaker 9: Exactly.
- 46:56Speaker 10: We've already seen you blow up an entire tanker area.
- 47:00Speaker 8: Which was massive. Like, that whole explosion scene at the
- 47:02Speaker 8: beginning is... They talk about how much they put into
- 47:06Speaker 8: the whole oil fire explosion.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Wasn't it way bigger than they expected?
- 47:11Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 47:12Speaker 10: They probably took out a few people.
- 47:15Speaker 1: But life's cheap down in Nicaragua, so they're just like,
- 47:18Speaker 1: those Guatemalans just went flying through the air.
- 47:20Speaker 8: Bring in some extras on a freaking movie. You don't
- 47:22Speaker 8: worry about them. They're disposable. Yeah.
- 47:25Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 47:26Speaker 10: Like, that explosion... Like, they talked about how much.
- 47:28Speaker 8: They spent just building that whole yard and then blowing
- 47:32Speaker 8: the hell out of it. And it is funny, as
- 47:35Speaker 8: they went through in total all that stuff, how much
- 47:38Speaker 8: in the hole this movie went. They spent... In reading
- 47:43Speaker 8: about it, they compared it to Star Wars, and it
- 47:45Speaker 8: had a hell of a bigger budget than Star Wars did.
- 47:48Speaker 8: And we all know what Star Wars made, where this
- 47:50Speaker 8: one made.
- 47:51Speaker 1: what I think it made 20 million 15 million started at.
- 47:55Speaker 8: About nine yeah and then like later they added in
- 47:58Speaker 8: all the other stuff but I think box office like
- 48:00Speaker 8: it barely cleared 10 million dollars yeah something they spent
- 48:03Speaker 8: like 23 or 30 million dollars on.
- 48:06Speaker 1: It which was a just a fortune back.
- 48:08Speaker 8: Then I'm like that's so much money to I mean
- 48:10Speaker 8: again if I guess if he didn't have that name
- 48:12Speaker 8: there's no way you could have even gotten that but
- 48:14Speaker 8: that's still that's so much money to invest in this
- 48:17Speaker 8: weird movie about four guys in a truck yeah I
- 48:20Speaker 8: don't know it's it's amazing that they threw that much
- 48:24Speaker 8: money at it and it tanked at the time. Like
- 48:28Speaker 8: it's only now that people, you know, rediscover it and
- 48:30Speaker 8: be like, this is a good movie, but it's amazing
- 48:33Speaker 8: how much they spent on this little movie that nobody remembers.
- 48:36Speaker 5: Yep.
- 48:37Speaker 9: You've got a problem.
- 48:38Speaker 5: Tell me about it.
- 48:40Speaker 9: You're on the hit parade.
- 48:42Speaker 5: What?
- 48:42Speaker 2: I appreciate why it was Carter.
- 48:45Speaker 8: Richie's brother.
- 48:46Speaker 9: Get the heat.
- 48:47Speaker 2: Rich himself was out looking for you. You know, I
- 48:50Speaker 2: never carry a pistol.
- 48:52Speaker 9: Would you like to tell him that in person?
- 48:55Speaker 4: Got any money?
- 48:55Speaker 7: $ 2, 000.
- 48:57Speaker 2: How about a passport?
- 49:01Speaker 9: What for?
- 49:02Speaker 5: The $ 2, 000.
- 49:02Speaker 8: That's your passport.
- 49:05Speaker 9: You mean out of the country?
- 49:07Speaker 7: Uh-huh.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Where?
- 49:11Speaker 9: I can say it's a good place to stay low.
- 49:13Speaker 5: Why?
- 49:13Speaker 2: It's the sort of place nobody wants to go looking.
- 49:17Speaker 5: I guess.
- 49:17Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 49:18Speaker 10: I did want to get into the end.
- 49:20Speaker 8: There and your thoughts on all of it.
- 49:22Speaker 10: I mean, it is interesting that even the truck, our namesake,
- 49:27Speaker 10: breaks down. It still doesn't even make it there, really. So, like,
- 49:30Speaker 10: one more reason it's stupid to name it after the truck.
- 49:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:33Speaker 8: The truck didn't even make it. But we've I mean,
- 49:35Speaker 8: we lost all our guys at that point. It's just
- 49:38Speaker 8: Roy dragging along by himself. So it's like it's it's
- 49:42Speaker 8: an interesting conclusion. And then you almost think like, you know,
- 49:46Speaker 8: they've given him the parade back into town. You kind
- 49:48Speaker 8: of think that's where it's going.
- 49:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 49:50Speaker 1: And then he's going to make it. And you're like, dude,
- 49:52Speaker 1: he's not going to make it.
- 49:54Speaker 8: And then what what is the dance scene on your show? Like,
- 49:57Speaker 8: why do you think, do you think that's just him
- 49:59Speaker 8: knowing that it's coming? So, I don't know, because that.
- 50:03Speaker 10: Seemed very strange at the time he did it.
- 50:04Speaker 8: And then a few minutes later, I'm like, well, maybe
- 50:07Speaker 8: that all plays into it.
- 50:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he had a feeling that the boom
- 50:11Speaker 1: was coming down. And so he thought he'd go out
- 50:14Speaker 1: with like at least one kind of fun thing.
- 50:16Speaker 8: Go out dancing. With the wash woman.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he kind of knew the boom was
- 50:21Speaker 1: coming down and he was just like going out with
- 50:24Speaker 1: a happy finale.
- 50:27Speaker 10: That is a weird, grim way to end, especially this movie.
- 50:30Speaker 8: Like, it's such a heavy, gritty movie anyway that, like,
- 50:33Speaker 8: you don't even get, yeah, it's like he doesn't even
- 50:35Speaker 8: pull out a semi, you know, maybe he'll get back
- 50:37Speaker 8: to America ending.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Well, but I think that was another thing that really
- 50:40Speaker 1: doomed the movie was, you know, the year before was Rocky,
- 50:44Speaker 1: and that is the beginning of the there's no more,
- 50:47Speaker 1: the Downing Enders must cease.
- 50:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 50:50Speaker 1: And he went against the grain with that. People were like,
- 50:53Speaker 1: I like movies like Rocky where he comes in and
- 50:55Speaker 1: loses the fight, but it's kind of wins a moral victory.
- 50:58Speaker 1: And here, what are you telling me? He just dead?
- 51:00Speaker 1: Then what the fuck did I watch this for? And
- 51:02Speaker 1: I think a lot that they so bad name, bloated budget,
- 51:06Speaker 1: misleading sort of ad campaign, too. And and super downbeat
- 51:12Speaker 1: ending and no women.
- 51:14Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 51:15Speaker 1: No love story. The closest thing we get to any
- 51:20Speaker 1: kind of a love interest. So basically half the human
- 51:22Speaker 1: race stayed away.
- 51:23Speaker 8: Although, I have to say, the guy's wife with the watch,
- 51:27Speaker 8: kind of attractive.
- 51:29Speaker 10: And then when he gives him the letter, I'm like, well,
- 51:31Speaker 10: she's a widow now. I mean, you make it back
- 51:33Speaker 10: to America.
- 51:34Speaker 8: You're in France, I guess. It's like, you have to
- 51:36Speaker 8: go look this woman up.
- 51:38Speaker 10: It didn't pan out.
- 51:39Speaker 8: But I'm like, for a second there, I was like, well,
- 51:40Speaker 8: that's what we need to do.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Well, now they would do that. Now he would go
- 51:44Speaker 1: back to France. And he would deliver the letter. and
- 51:47Speaker 1: then she's like would you like to sit down and
- 51:48Speaker 1: have a coffee with me and he'd go yes and
- 51:50Speaker 1: they'd pull back from the cafe and you'd go he
- 51:53Speaker 1: made it and he's gonna end up with a wife
- 51:54Speaker 1: and the women are all smiling and that's great and.
- 51:56Speaker 8: That woman she's not gonna be a sad widow now exactly.
- 51:59Speaker 1: But this is freaking freaking it's like everybody dies everyone
- 52:05Speaker 1: suffers everybody.
- 52:06Speaker 8: Dies But I don't know. I did also want to ask,
- 52:10Speaker 8: what is your take on the journey of it? It
- 52:13Speaker 8: does seem like it's such.
- 52:14Speaker 10: An epic story.
- 52:17Speaker 8: There is sort of a little something that's a little
- 52:19Speaker 8: heavier there of these characters and them going on this
- 52:22Speaker 8: whole journey along the way. I think it's more than
- 52:25Speaker 8: just we have to blow up this fire.
- 52:27Speaker 1: I think it's a pretty nihilistic movie, though. I think
- 52:30Speaker 1: it's basically like, this is life. Struggle, sweat, strain, followed
- 52:34Speaker 1: by death. Thank you very much. And so it's just
- 52:37Speaker 1: a super... What it is, is it's like a leftover
- 52:41Speaker 1: 70s downer. Like the Parallax View. all of these movies
- 52:46Speaker 1: that just ended, like Tulane Blacktop, movies that just end
- 52:50Speaker 1: with Bonnie and Clyde. That's kind of a 60s one,
- 52:54Speaker 1: but still same thing. It starts with Bonnie and Clyde,
- 52:58Speaker 1: goes through Easy Rider, and this is kind of like,
- 53:01Speaker 1: you can argue this is the last super nihilistic ending
- 53:04Speaker 1: that a studio ever made.
- 53:06Speaker 8: It's funny, in that same little thing where they were
- 53:08Speaker 8: breaking it down and comparing it to Star Wars, they
- 53:10Speaker 8: said this is the summer. This is the last... of
- 53:13Speaker 8: those little indie movies backed by a director that's an
- 53:17Speaker 8: arty kind of director, and then the birth of the blockbuster.
- 53:20Speaker 8: From that point on, everything was how to make that
- 53:23Speaker 8: next summer movie.
- 53:24Speaker 1: There was still a little bit of overlap, like there
- 53:26Speaker 1: always is. Nirvana comes in 91, and you still have
- 53:30Speaker 1: Hair Metal in 92. They're clinging on to it. They're
- 53:33Speaker 1: clinging on to it, but by 93, it's done. You
- 53:35Speaker 1: just see there's that overlap. And this was basically the
- 53:38Speaker 1: end of that Easy Bulls, Easy Rider, Raging Bull, Easy
- 53:43Speaker 1: Rider era.
- 53:44Speaker 10: That indie film.
- 53:45Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe Raging Bull. I suppose Raging Bull could be
- 53:47Speaker 1: the last one.
- 53:48Speaker 8: But yeah, that kind of is the last of that era, really.
- 53:51Speaker 8: And everything at that point becomes sequel and blockbuster.
- 53:55Speaker 1: So yeah, so that's my take on Sorcerer. And I'm
- 53:58Speaker 1: glad you enjoyed it.
- 53:59Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm glad you picked it. It was definitely one
- 54:01Speaker 8: I needed to see anyway. Anything else you need to
- 54:04Speaker 8: tell people? Anything to send them off with?
- 54:05Speaker 1: I don't think so. I did my Hatchet 3 plug,
- 54:08Speaker 1: didn't I?
- 54:08Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 54:09Speaker 10: Nothing else for them to look for on the horizon.
- 54:11Speaker 1: Not at the moment. Not at the moment. Follow me
- 54:14Speaker 1: on Twitter at ZWGMAN. At ZWGMAN.
- 54:19Speaker 8: And if you see him at conventions, you really don't
- 54:22Speaker 8: have to do the Gremlin voice.
- 54:25Speaker 1: No. I've actually heard it done several times.
- 54:29Speaker 8: Just once or twice.
- 54:29Speaker 1: You can probably refrain from Gremlin voices.
- 54:33Speaker 8: Just my suggestion as well.
- 54:34Speaker 1: All right, gang. See you next time.
- 54:36Speaker 8: Thank you for sitting in with us. Yeah, definitely.
- 54:40Speaker 7: Thanks for having me. Okay, cool.
- 54:52Speaker 8: I can't take your hand and lead you to the water.
- 54:57Speaker 5: I can't make you feel what you don't feel. But
- 55:01Speaker 5: you know you.
- 55:02Speaker 12: Wanna find out how.
- 55:05Speaker 5: To grab me. Log in, try to have me.
- 55:09Speaker 12: Underneath the surface, there's so much you need to know.
- 55:14Speaker 5: And you might feel like you're drowning.
- 55:19Speaker 7: Tell me what you got to break down the walls.
- 55:24Speaker 7: You're just my new dynamite. Tell me what you got
- 55:30Speaker 7: to break down the walls. Existence minus business. Tell me
- 55:35Speaker 7: what you're going to do.
- 55:36Speaker 1: I need you.
- 55:37Speaker 5: I love you.
- 55:37Speaker 7: Tell me what.
- 55:38Speaker 4: You got to break down the walls.
- 55:42Speaker 5: You're just my new dynamite. I can't paint this picture.
- 55:54Speaker 8: Man, you ain't it is going wild on the internet.
- 55:56Speaker 8: It's blowing up. It's the squared circle of knowledge. You
- 56:00Speaker 8: ain't a podcast.com makes it easy to stream.
- 56:03Speaker 9: You can start an argument.
- 56:04Speaker 8: In the comments. I'd rather send a nasty email to
- 56:08Speaker 8: you ain't it at gmail.com.
- 56:10Speaker 10: I'm going to tweet out you ain't it and yell.
- 56:13Speaker 8: You can even subscribe on iTunes and Stitcher. Make sure
- 56:16Speaker 8: to like the Facebook page. Leave a good review or
- 56:19Speaker 8: we'll hurt you.
- 56:21Speaker 6: Tell a friend about the show.
- 56:23Speaker 8: Yeah. Awesome.
- 56:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 56:26Speaker 8: That's Y-O-U-E-I-G-H-T-I-G.
- 56:31Speaker 5: You ate it.
- 56:32Speaker 1: Education has never been so wild.
- 56:46Speaker 8: Hey, this is Danielle Harris. So I am now maybe,
- 56:49Speaker 8: quite possibly, one of the newest members of Movie Meltdown.
- 56:53Speaker 8: If I can ever actually get to the movies. But
- 56:57Speaker 8: I'll review some old 80s rom-coms for you. See ya.
- 57:03Speaker 12: It had to be you It had to be you.
- 57:10Speaker 8: I wandered around and finally found the somebody who.
- 57:17Speaker 10: Could make me be true.
- 57:21Speaker 8: Could make me be blue.
- 57:25Speaker 5: It's part of your problem, you know. You haven't seen
- 57:27Speaker 5: enough movies. All of life's riddles are answered in the movies.
- 57:32Speaker 5: And now, on with the show.
- 57:55Speaker 8: All right, we are back. So thank you once again
- 57:57Speaker 8: to Zach for sitting in with us and for picking
- 58:00Speaker 8: that movie. So that was a good choice, I think,
- 58:05Speaker 8: of our movie talk. What have you seen lately yourself, Greg?
- 58:10Speaker 8: What's your Herzog movie?
- 58:12Speaker 9: Oh, it's Happy People. And he spends a year in.
- 58:20Speaker 9: The Taiga, I think, is about as remote in the U.S.
- 58:24Speaker 4: As you can get.
- 58:26Speaker 9: And it's cold as it can get, pretty much. And
- 58:30Speaker 9: it's all hunters and trappers that are in this town.
- 58:33Speaker 9: And for half of the year, they're gone and they're
- 58:37Speaker 9: alone off in the wilderness. And so he and his,
- 58:43Speaker 9: it was co-directed, and forgive me, I don't know. I
- 58:46Speaker 9: wasn't even prepared for this. I don't even know who
- 58:48Speaker 9: the co-director was. But there are definite moments, if you've
- 58:52Speaker 9: seen Herzog enough, that you can tell, oh, he's... Because
- 59:01Speaker 9: he's very much... You point the camera at something, you
- 59:04Speaker 9: ask a couple questions, and you let it develop. And
- 59:07Speaker 9: you let the characters give them.
- 59:10Speaker 4: them.
- 59:12Speaker 9: And he's very fluid in, he's not coming into the
- 59:17Speaker 9: documentary with any preconceived notions of what he wants to
- 59:20Speaker 9: get out of it. And when he finds the story,
- 59:22Speaker 9: he latches onto it. And there's one moment that is fantastic.
- 59:27Speaker 9: There's the Native Indians are... Um, uh, they're not even Indian.
- 59:31Speaker 9: I mean, the native Russians or Siberians, I guess, in
- 59:34Speaker 9: that area are, um, they work the meager jobs in town,
- 59:41Speaker 9: you know, throwing wood, cleaning fish, that kind of stuff.
- 59:45Speaker 9: And nearly all of them are alcoholics and, um, they
- 59:49Speaker 9: blame everything on the Russians, uh, the Soviets in Moscow.
- 59:55Speaker 9: And you can see one guy, he stops and is
- 59:57Speaker 9: getting interviewed. And you can tell that this interview is
- 59:59Speaker 9: being conducted by Herzog because it's different than a lot
- 1:00:02Speaker 9: of the rest of them. And he, and the guy
- 1:00:06Speaker 9: is just, he gives his little, you know, two minute
- 1:00:09Speaker 9: talk that's translated. And then he just, it, it, the
- 1:00:14Speaker 9: camera holds again, like he does, especially in grizzly man.
- 1:00:17Speaker 9: You can see where people are being interviewed and he
- 1:00:20Speaker 9: holds it a little longer and And there's a brief
- 1:00:22Speaker 9: uncomfortable pause and then they just spill. And then he
- 1:00:26Speaker 9: just goes off on, it's, it's horrible. This is why
- 1:00:30Speaker 9: it happens. This is what's going on. And then one
- 1:00:33Speaker 9: of the older guys that's, you know, kind of trying
- 1:00:35Speaker 9: to get the guy to go back to work is
- 1:00:37Speaker 9: basically telling him to shut up and comes in and
- 1:00:40Speaker 9: you can see this, this struggle. And you almost wonder
- 1:00:44Speaker 9: if Herzog thought maybe he was being held back, that
- 1:00:47Speaker 9: this was the, this was the real story of this,
- 1:00:50Speaker 9: of this documentary. And I was like, oh, give me,
- 1:00:52Speaker 9: it's like you get a taste of something really good.
- 1:00:54Speaker 9: It's like, I want more of that. I want more
- 1:00:56Speaker 9: of that part. And it was so different from where
- 1:00:58Speaker 9: the story, you know, it obviously wasn't going to turn
- 1:01:02Speaker 9: into a trapper story anymore. Also, there's a moment where,
- 1:01:09Speaker 9: you know, they spend a lot of time with the dogs, right?
- 1:01:14Speaker 9: that are the trapper's best friend and really tool that
- 1:01:17Speaker 9: they have to have. And he really humanizes them extremely
- 1:01:25Speaker 9: well just by pointing the camera at them and then
- 1:01:28Speaker 9: pointing out the differences. And this one moment where one
- 1:01:32Speaker 9: of the husbands comes back for New Year's. New Year's
- 1:01:36Speaker 9: Eve is they all come back for one night for
- 1:01:38Speaker 9: the entire eight-month run that they're out. And he has
- 1:01:42Speaker 9: to travel over 24 hours, 100 miles, and he's got
- 1:01:47Speaker 9: a sled, a snowmobile, snow machine sled, and the dog
- 1:01:52Speaker 9: is not allowed on it. He runs alongside the entire way.
- 1:01:56Speaker 9: And then he just points the camera, riding along, points
- 1:02:02Speaker 9: the camera on this dog, and you're just– it's kind
- 1:02:06Speaker 9: of sinking in that these people really do see it
- 1:02:08Speaker 9: as a tool and they don't really care. Even though
- 1:02:11Speaker 9: this dog is really the only thing that cares about
- 1:02:14Speaker 9: the man for months, doesn't really care about the dog,
- 1:02:17Speaker 9: you know. And the dog gets bagged. The kids greet
- 1:02:21Speaker 9: the dog and, you know, throw out some food and everything.
- 1:02:24Speaker 9: And then the kids say, I'm going to get him
- 1:02:28Speaker 9: some food. And the husband's like, yeah, he's probably hungry.
- 1:02:31Speaker 9: He hasn't eaten in 40 hours. You're like, what an
- 1:02:35Speaker 9: asshole these guys are. So as a dog lover, it
- 1:02:37Speaker 9: was harsh, but it was a very Herzog moment that
- 1:02:40Speaker 9: you're getting all of this out of it. So it's
- 1:02:43Speaker 9: a good watch. It's a slow process, but it's fascinating,
- 1:02:48Speaker 9: some of the stuff you get to see.
- 1:02:49Speaker 8: Out of it.
- 1:02:50Speaker 9: So I enjoyed it quite a bit.
- 1:02:53Speaker 8: I guess to counter the Herzog film I watched, this
- 1:02:57Speaker 8: is the end.
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: Oh, nice.
- 1:03:00Speaker 8: So switch gears to dumb comedy. And that's one of
- 1:03:05Speaker 8: those things, like, I don't normally like comedies now. Like,
- 1:03:09Speaker 8: I just, I don't set out to like that. Like,
- 1:03:13Speaker 8: I like comedies. They're all, I've realized this time's gone on,
- 1:03:16Speaker 8: older comedies, like, 80s and before, I still find things funny, but, like,
- 1:03:22Speaker 8: the stuff that's supposed to be comedies now usually does
- 1:03:25Speaker 8: not hit the mark for me. Like, it's just most
- 1:03:29Speaker 8: of the time way too dumb, just way too watered
- 1:03:34Speaker 8: down and stupid and made for masses that don't deserve
- 1:03:39Speaker 8: a comedy made for them. Like they're just so dumb. So, um,
- 1:03:45Speaker 8: I don't know. This one looked a little different and
- 1:03:47Speaker 8: it's made by people who have made some pretty dumb
- 1:03:49Speaker 8: comedies in the past, but I was kind of like,
- 1:03:52Speaker 8: all right, it at least looks like they're trying for
- 1:03:54Speaker 8: something different. And it looks like they're trying like first
- 1:03:57Speaker 8: and foremost, it looks like they, took this upon themselves
- 1:04:00Speaker 8: to make this movie and they want to do something
- 1:04:03Speaker 8: with it. So I, I saw it and I have
- 1:04:06Speaker 8: to say, I did laugh probably more than most comedies
- 1:04:09Speaker 8: of recent years. I, I mean, by the end it
- 1:04:14Speaker 8: is like, it hits moments where it is so juvenile
- 1:04:20Speaker 8: and like 12 year old boy, because they are a
- 1:04:23Speaker 8: bunch of 12 year old boys, essentially. I mean, granted
- 1:04:26Speaker 8: they're all probably in their forties, but, Like, it's just so,
- 1:04:29Speaker 8: I mean, it hits those moments where it's pretty dumb again.
- 1:04:33Speaker 8: But along the way, like, you really can tell they
- 1:04:37Speaker 8: had this fun idea. And it's not just like the
- 1:04:42Speaker 8: let's go to Hawaii and shoot a movie because I
- 1:04:43Speaker 8: want a free vacation kind of thing.
- 1:04:45Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:04:46Speaker 8: But what works about this one, because that's just they
- 1:04:48Speaker 8: wanted to go hang out in Hawaii.
- 1:04:49Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:04:50Speaker 8: Like in this movie, it is like a bunch of
- 1:04:52Speaker 8: friends that get together and decide they want to make
- 1:04:54Speaker 8: a movie. And it comes off on screen like a
- 1:04:56Speaker 8: bunch of friends have gotten together. And like there is
- 1:04:59Speaker 8: so much of it that's pretty genuine about just them
- 1:05:02Speaker 8: hanging out. And so much of it is just such,
- 1:05:04Speaker 8: I mean, them playing with all this downtime that they
- 1:05:07Speaker 8: have in this, you know, end of the world situation
- 1:05:11Speaker 8: that like it's just sort of them hanging out and
- 1:05:13Speaker 8: they can't get out of the house. So it's them together.
- 1:05:15Speaker 8: And it kind of works because you can tell they
- 1:05:18Speaker 8: are all friends and like, this is one shade away
- 1:05:21Speaker 8: from being a real hangout session with them. You know,
- 1:05:24Speaker 8: it's thrown into this ridiculous circumstance and like, it's there.
- 1:05:29Speaker 8: And the thing I probably like the most is the
- 1:05:32Speaker 8: fact that they're not exactly playing themselves. They're playing a
- 1:05:36Speaker 8: version of themselves. Like they're playing some pretty close version
- 1:05:41Speaker 8: on some of them. Like, you know, Seth is probably
- 1:05:43Speaker 8: not far from that, but like, James Franco is making
- 1:05:46Speaker 8: a very specific choice with the way that he plays
- 1:05:48Speaker 8: James Franco. And what's the super bad? Not Jonah, the
- 1:05:54Speaker 8: other dude.
- 1:05:55Speaker 9: Oh, Sarah?
- 1:05:57Speaker 8: Yeah, Michael Sarah is hilarious. Michael Sarah makes a real
- 1:06:02Speaker 8: choice of how he wants to play. And so, I mean,
- 1:06:07Speaker 8: just that kind of stuff that they're like, really having
- 1:06:11Speaker 8: fun with their own persona. And like, you've got, you know,
- 1:06:15Speaker 8: a guy at the airport in the very beginning that
- 1:06:17Speaker 8: like is asking Seth, you know, how come all your
- 1:06:19Speaker 8: movies are the same?
- 1:06:20Speaker 10: How come you don't ever play a different character?
- 1:06:22Speaker 8: Like he wrote that line, you know, like they're, they
- 1:06:25Speaker 8: play a lot with how they're perceived. And like, I
- 1:06:27Speaker 8: think that part is interesting and honest. And then sometimes
- 1:06:30Speaker 8: they fall right back into the dumb 12 year old boy.
- 1:06:33Speaker 8: I'm jerking off jokes. Then that scene goes on way
- 1:06:36Speaker 8: too long. But like, there's so much other stuff that,
- 1:06:39Speaker 8: that actually kind of works. And I am surprised that
- 1:06:43Speaker 8: they sort of went the direction they did with the plot. Like,
- 1:06:47Speaker 8: I won't even go into all of it, but like,
- 1:06:50Speaker 8: they don't half-ass it. Like at first I thought they
- 1:06:52Speaker 8: were just going to go very general with, Oh, something
- 1:06:54Speaker 8: horrible happens. But by the end, they're.
- 1:06:56Speaker 10: Very specific about what's going on.
- 1:06:58Speaker 8: And like, it can, like, at least they picked the direction.
- 1:07:01Speaker 8: Like I was afraid they were going to be really
- 1:07:03Speaker 8: wussy and be like, we don't want to commit to
- 1:07:04Speaker 8: one thing or the other. And, Nope, they totally commit.
- 1:07:07Speaker 8: And by the end, they follow through with the scenario.
- 1:07:12Speaker 8: And I give them credit for that too. So I
- 1:07:15Speaker 8: kind of wish it across the board could have been
- 1:07:17Speaker 8: a little smarter and thrown out some of those jokes
- 1:07:20Speaker 8: along the way that are just so juvenile. But there's
- 1:07:24Speaker 8: some great moments. Emma Watson's badass in it. So yeah,
- 1:07:29Speaker 8: for any Emma Watson fans, definitely look for her. Also,
- 1:07:32Speaker 8: you'll have a whole new perspective of Channing Tatum.
- 1:07:35Speaker 9: Oh, really?
- 1:07:36Speaker 8: There's a lot of really good, like there's, they get so,
- 1:07:38Speaker 8: cause they have a big party at Franco's house and like,
- 1:07:41Speaker 8: there's so many cameos. It's amazing. So from that angle,
- 1:07:45Speaker 8: it kind of works like again, and probably just from
- 1:07:47Speaker 8: being a movie geek, it's like, you like seeing these
- 1:07:50Speaker 8: people in a project that's not what they're normally in.
- 1:07:53Speaker 8: And like, they're sort of playing themselves, but not really
- 1:07:56Speaker 8: like they're playing around with that. So for me, all
- 1:07:58Speaker 8: that stuff worked and it was definitely worth watching. And
- 1:08:01Speaker 8: there's some really big laughs in it. It's not perfect,
- 1:08:04Speaker 8: but it's, it's probably better than anything most of those
- 1:08:07Speaker 8: guys have done in years. Like it's, it seems like
- 1:08:09Speaker 8: they really tried for something and, and I give them
- 1:08:13Speaker 8: bonus points for that just because they put a lot
- 1:08:15Speaker 8: of effort in it. You can tell, and then a
- 1:08:17Speaker 8: little bit of heart towards it. So it's, yeah, it's
- 1:08:20Speaker 8: better than I expected. So not perfect, but fun.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: I love that.
- 1:08:25Speaker 9: I love that. The, uh, Voted confidence better than I expected.
- 1:08:29Speaker 9: That's a good review.
- 1:08:30Speaker 8: Especially for a comedy now.
- 1:08:32Speaker 9: No, that's one I was wondering how it was going
- 1:08:36Speaker 9: to be. So, yeah, that sounds like.
- 1:08:37Speaker 8: It's entertaining. Let's put it that way. It's definitely entertaining.
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: Good.
- 1:08:41Speaker 8: Not one for the kids. The gross-out humor is plenty
- 1:08:43Speaker 8: of gross-out humor.
- 1:08:44Speaker 9: I show them all that.
- 1:08:46Speaker 6: Oh, Lord.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: No, I don't.
- 1:08:47Speaker 8: You're in trouble then.
- 1:08:48Speaker 5: No, I don't.
- 1:08:50Speaker 8: But, no, it's entertaining. We'll go with that.
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: Good. All right.
- 1:08:56Speaker 8: I think. Maybe this is the end of the world
- 1:08:59Speaker 8: here in this big empty room.
- 1:09:00Speaker 9: I win the body art contest.
- 1:09:04Speaker 8: Let's see about that.
- 1:09:05Speaker 9: You're going to.
- 1:09:06Speaker 8: Have to show it off then. Otherwise, I'm taking this
- 1:09:10Speaker 8: trophy home.
- 1:09:12Speaker 9: This cup of water that they left out?
- 1:09:14Speaker 8: This cup of water that they left for us. I'm
- 1:09:15Speaker 8: taking it home.
- 1:09:17Speaker 9: All right.
- 1:09:18Speaker 8: Otherwise, that about does it. We will return next week.
- 1:09:20Speaker 8: Same geek time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:09:31Speaker 12: I'm tired I'm thirsty I'm wild eyed In my misery.
- 1:09:45Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:51Speaker 12: In your finery, hey, hey It's a high price For
- 1:09:59Speaker 12: your luxury.
- 1:10:00Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah Sorcerer, who is the master? A man and woman.
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: On a star stream.

- 1:13:02Speaker 5: Lady from the mountains.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: Because I was clumsy.
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 1:14:11Speaker 8: I blame Feldman.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: Feldman really did it.
- 1:14:13Speaker 8: It's all Feldman's fault. The downfall of humanity. Trust me,
- 1:14:17Speaker 8: a lot of problems have to do with Corey Feldman.
