Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Mile High Huddle Podcast with your football freeze.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: Chad Jensen and Zach Kilmer.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, Broncos Country is not a geographic location.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's a state of being.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome in everybody to the Mile High Huddle Podcast.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm your host Chad Jensen.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_02]: With me, my fellow football priest, you know I'm your love
- 0:30[SPEAKER_02]: People will recall that on the gut reaction last Sunday, we said, you know what?
- 0:36[SPEAKER_02]: It seemed as if Sean Peyton had learned from his mistake in Cincinnati.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: You know, talking about the two point conversion that big ballsy decision in Philly and how he opted to go for the tying, sent it to overtime in Cincinnati and Joe Burrell made him pay.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: And it turns out from Joe and Barty, the offensive coordinator, that definitely informed at least part of the decision.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like the fact that Sean Peyton we're assuming here based on Lambert his comments that he was reflective of that decision chat He still regrets it and he should have back in the Cincinnati game went for two, but In this Philadelphia game as we talked about on the gut reaction to show a lot of confidence in his play call the offense And also the defense that if they didn't get the two point conversion the defense would get the ball back So I like the aggressiveness because when you coach not to lose more often than not you end up losing he was coaching to win in that moment Exactly
- 1:29[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_02]: You got to love it.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_02]: And also, I loved what Vance Joseph said today about how the Broncos game plan for Jalen Hertz and how the mission was to cage the quarterback and boil boy.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_02]: Did they do a good job?
- 1:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, in recent memory, I can't think of the last time a Broncos defensive front like that Zach had walked that razor's edge of creating the pressure.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_02]: Putting that pressure on, but also staying contained so that he can't break out with his legs and, you know, gas you.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: But if you watch the tape, Nick Benito specifically chatted his speed on the edge, getting around the tackles and beating them one on one is so incredible.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: He leads the NFL in sacks and pressures.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's on his way to depot, but then you book in him with Jonathan Cooper on the defensive line.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: You have Zach Allen, John Franklin Myers, really in the front seven and all the way around with the secondary.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: It is the best defense in the NFL and they showed that in Philadelphia.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_02]: No doubt about it.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: What's up, everybody?
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: How's you doing like the wrong here throwing down a super chat?
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: A deer member saying good evening, Chad and Zach on the mile, a little podcast.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_02]: Go, Bob Broncos, mile high salute right back at you big dog.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: And so many members pop a bear.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: Good to have you my friend.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: We love you.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: We appreciate you.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_02]: He's saying good evening, Broncos country 11 hashtag 11 at six plus plus.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: Plus plus plus.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: So we got a new plus Zach.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_02]: That's good since Philly man.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: I love to see it.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: It looks like we're having some problems connecting to Facebook, but you know what else is new here.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_02]: David Yoke and how are you, buddy?
- 3:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with Beau.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't believe in trap games.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: Neither do I. Broncos 35 10.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: Zach will save our official picks and whatnot.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, do we really need to save him for tomorrow?
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think we both pretty much know.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's going to shock anybody.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: But how do you see this one?
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: kind of pan and out for the Broncos across the pond like Bo Nick said there is still an NFL team they have good players on defense and good players on offense for that matter as well.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos are the better team on paper and in reality, this strikes me as a lot like the Cincinnati game except it's in London chat.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos are just much better and they should enforce that and show that on Sunday.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't look for the Broncos to squeak by, I'm with David here, I think another blowout is in store.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: We shall see bigger and good to see it taught Austin Dorf in the house.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: He says, uh, if I guess green laws not ready to come back yet, but the good news is road returning.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so green law.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: The soonest he can come back is the Giants game is the meagree game, not this Sunday, but the next.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: So let's cross our fingers and hope that he will begin practicing next week.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: And the Broncos will then start his clock.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know what to do about the Facebook thing, but we'll see, but in the meantime, Zach, you got Jonah Ellis.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_02]: has not participated in practice in either of the two practices so far in Britain and he went into the game last week with a ribs injury and then picked up another one I think it's a shoulders so we've got a ribs and a shoulder dnp two days in a row.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: Are we about to see Q Robinson at least dress for a game's act?
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: he should be active for this one.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think they'll give him a chance like they gave Saviour on Jones a chance next week kind of sucks for Ellis though.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's a really really talented player but you wonder he injured his shoulder in that Buffalo playoff game.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: He had surgery on a chat.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: I hope it wasn't a re-injury or anything like that.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: Fingers crossed.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: Casey Nichols in the house.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: What's going on big dog?
- 5:05[SPEAKER_02]: Great to see ya.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: a legendary superstar, a dear member, sandman, just wait till we get green law and who knows maybe a sneaky trade pickup, go Broncos, 31, 10 Sundays, what he's picking, Nick Bonito is, defensive player of the year, see you boys next week for the mean, great case is going to be there, sick do.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: Can't wait, can't wait, it's going to be a gas, we put out the flyer guys, so if you
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: Mile High-Huddle Instagram.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_02]: We put it in the YouTube community tab.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's pinned on Instagram.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's pinned on Mile High-Huddle Twitter.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: All the details you need to find is, but the main thing for the next home game, so October 19th week seven, is a lot D, when in doubt, just look for the big blue tent that says Mile High-Huddle hashtag state of being, we're not hard to find.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_02]: Can't wait to see a
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it feels like the Broncos haven't been home in forever.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: They come home to face a inferior giant steam that they should blow up on.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: So it's going to be fun case.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: You can't wait to see you out there and everyone else is the best meat and agree yet.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, no doubt about it.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be epic.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: Last year was a little bit of a setback in terms of Zach upsetting our undefeated streak at the meat and greets.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: We were three and a no.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: Last year, unfortunately, we suffered a setback in that Pittsburgh game, but we're fixing to get back on track 2025.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: Boss man, Jay and the Hizzy, a dear member, a superstar thrown down a super chat.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, buddy.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: So it's always a great show.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: What do you guys think about moving Talon Noah who found out to inside
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: one safety, I think is what he's saying.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: And, and, and, and, and, move, Baron to, I don't know, Baron to say to just a thought, Chad Zach Broncos country, Denver Broncos for life.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_02]: So, let's just at least, who, who found good to line backers Zach, Baron to safety.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: What are your thoughts?
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I wouldn't, and thank you, boss man for the super.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't fix what isn't broken right now.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, if you look at the tape, uh, about who found that he is, he might be the best free agent pick up the Broncos made, even
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: JK Dobbins.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's like the rover.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: He plays up near the line of scrimmage.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: He falls back in past coverage.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's always around the football.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: He really is Troy Palomolo 2.0 and he's succeeding in past defense.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think I would compensate by moving him there.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: I would keep well enough alone.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, especially no one how close you are ostensibly to get in green law back.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: Now, if it was a different situation, Jay, and let's say all the bad news we've had on green law up to this point wasn't and you're going to be getting a backs at some point in the season, but like he was done for the season and you really had to start thinking differently on a permanent basis, maybe it's something you consider.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's big enough.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: That's one thing that I think gets missed.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: Like,
- 8:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, he gets compared a lot to Troy Palo Maloo's at for obvious reasons, right?
- 8:10[SPEAKER_02]: But he seems much, much bigger, although I'll admit, I haven't taken a measurements comparison look at Hufanga and Palo Maloo.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, he has an injury history, too.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: So do you want to convert him to lineback or expose him to more unnecessary hits?
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's also a consideration there.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: Again, like Chad was saying, though, they've kind of gotten by with Singleton and Sternard for now, I wish they would call up Leville Bailey, but fingers crossed that gray green law makes his debut in just a few weeks.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: Jay, buddy.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, pal.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: Real quick.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: We got Sam Bam throwin' down, jumpin' in, Sam.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_02]: He's a superstar, everybody knows Sam Bam.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's a dear member.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, buddy, for your support.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: Means the world to us.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_02]: He says, even in guys, looking forward to watching the Broncos game at 730.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_02]: Sunday morning.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos need to take care of business, plain and simple.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: Go Broncos.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, guys, in case you missed it, it is, in fact, taking place in a different country that is many hours ahead of the US, let alone Mountain Standard Time or Mountain Daylight Time.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_02]: So the
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: Let me see.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_02]: Broncos jets.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: So kicks off it.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I got to do the conversion.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_02]: Is it 730 mountain time or is it 630 mountain time?
- 9:31[SPEAKER_02]: I got to double check that.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_02]: But either way, guys get ready to wake up early on Sunday.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: And it's saying to say here the bigger point I don't care if the game picked off at four o'clock in the morning they have to go out there and take care of business We're looking for hopefully an easy win that we're not stressing too much a lot like the bankals game Sam, but thank you so much for your generosity as always I'm double checking it here real quick Yes, 730 mountain, so thank you Sam, thank you buddy So yeah, no sleeping in this Sunday game no sleeping in it's gonna be fun Ralph what's going on
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: The yamp of fireman in the house, dude, gonna be seeing you soon.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_02]: You and the fellas, I'm assuming.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_02]: Gonna be awesome, buddy.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for the super chat.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: You guys are probably watching it on the big screen.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: So what's up, everybody?
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: Shouts to everybody.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_02]: Gene William.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: Bro, we gotta see the whole crew.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_02]: We gotta see the whole crew and also thank you for being a member and give a shout out to the misses.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, thank you, Ralph.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, let me see, we also have some hello's here from Albert and Michelle Noppers in the house.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_02]: They've been members of this community and dear friends for a long, long time.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's good to see the two of you in the chat.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: Saying, how do y'all defense needs to stop the jets run offense?
- 10:48[SPEAKER_02]: And better believe if that happens, it'll be a blowout in favor of the Broncos.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: Well said, we hope maybe this is a year you guys can make it back to the meet and greet.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_02]: If not, we understand it's all good.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: We miss you guys.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_02]: Hope you're doing well.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: Zach, what do you say about this?
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: The thought here that the Broncos, if they stop that run, the jets run game.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_02]: Big time blow out for the Broncos.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's basically the only thing they do right.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: I was looking up to stats, kind of surprised me.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: They were top five in rushing offense.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't surprise me though, considering how much fields runs the ball.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: They have briefs, halls, well, they have Isaiah Davis behind him.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: They just lost Braille and Allen, the backup running back.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: They can't run and fields likes to obviously use his legs, but if they can contain him, similar to Jalen Hertz, Albert, you got nothing to worry about.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: It will be a blow out on Sunday.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_02]: So we're going to be doing the head to head comparison a little bit later in this episode.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_02]: to illustrate the Broncos leading Russia is of course JK Dobbins with 402 rush yards this season.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_02]: RJ Harvey ranked second on the team with 150.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: Bonyx, the quarterback with 100 yards, third on the team.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_02]: You look at the jets.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_02]: Hall is the leading Russia with 351 rush yards.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: Then it is Justin Fields who has double,
- 12:09[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the inverted aspect of that Zach is yeah, they're formidable, especially if you let fields get out and start doing his thing with his legs, but you just had that experience last week of Caging to use Vance Joseph's verbiage.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: A very mobile dual threat quarterback, can you do it again with just in fields, especially I think what's helpful here to Zach is knowing that yeah, different scheme different team, but you faced him, a lot of these guys on this defense saw him last last year, week two.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'll straw man what I just said, a lot of the jets numbers and the stats they put up comes in garbage time chat when the game is at a reach.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: If you look at the Cowboys game, it wasn't competitive for three and a half quarters before the jets kind of got a few meaningless touchdowns.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: So they're still, that's still the best thing they can do, but they're not this unstoppable rushing offense.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: The broccoli should be able to take care of them.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: I have.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_02]: I have very high confidence in this real quick.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: I want to grab this Scott from String Guy from Raj.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: So is the gut reaction going to be at noon central time chat?
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: I have to really need some depth inside linebacker, especially green line isn't ready.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_02]: So it's whenever the game gets over.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, usually it's like, yeah, it's going to be at about noon central.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: Some maybe even a little bit earlier, depending on, you know, the flow of the game's at.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it should be a lot of running between the two teams and it starts at 930 Eastern and so I would assume it'd be over about 1230 Eastern.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: So we should be live before one Eastern Roger.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_02]: David Junkin, he's a superstar.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_02]: He's a member.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_02]: He's in the house, sounding off to say, I would love to go to one of the me and Greeks, but can't do no flying.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_02]: Now, no flying because you don't like to fly, type thing, because I feel your pain.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: There was a time, Zach knows about this, Scott knows about this.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: There was a time I used to be deathly afraid of flying, which is really weird, quick anecdote, because I flew a lot as a child and as a young man, a lot.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: And I never even had a second thought about flying.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_02]: And then I went about eight years without flying and over that span, I had started a family.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_02]: And then all of a sudden I had to go on a business flight and I was like waking up in the night the night before I was like my heart was beaten I was like what's going on?
- 14:24[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know what's then I got to the airport my heart's going like this and I'm like what the heck?
- 14:29[SPEAKER_02]: And that whole flight dude, I felt like imminent doom was coming but after subjecting myself to it many times over I've been able to tamp it down it's still not my favorite thing David but now I can, I'm not losing sleep let's put it that way.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe one day if that's your deal,
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: David was saying it was health issues is the reason that he can't fly and I totally suck David we we understand that we'll have plenty of content though coming out of the meeting great that we hope that you'll enjoy.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes the what do you call it the pressure change in flights can can have negative effects depending on a person's health situation like you know I recall when my wife was well I don't know try third try master
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: It was a total no no to fly no, but she was advised not to not to fly with our last baby anyway.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway David, we'll miss you big dog.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: We'll miss you my brother.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, where are we at?
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: We're at 15 minutes.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: We're doing good.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_02]: We're making good time.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_02]: We got Phil McLaughlin in the house, Tucson Phil checking in, sounding off, saying good evening, Chad Zach and Deacon Scott.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_02]: Great to see Nick Bonito getting some recognition.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's nice to have roach back.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm hoping that Ellis can play.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: It'll be nice to if Q Robinson can contribute.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: Hashtag Buckeham, Broncos for life, M.H.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: for life.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's going to be nice getting roach back, especially as that rotational guy to step in.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_02]: And just make sure like when DJ Jones is catching a breather that there's no regression upfront and they've had to rely on guys like who was a reke and you know, save you on got a little bit of actions act one game he suited up one game, but having roach there's going to be it's going to be nice for the Broncos.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: It also had a lean on Jordan Jackson who is not Malcolm Roach and that could be a major major upgrade.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: Q Robinson also as you mentioned a couple of pods to go Chad, premier special teamer in college.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: That should help out the Broncos special team's coverage units that have looked a little leaky this season feel so far, but he's not Jonah Ellis Q. He's going to get some welcome to the NFL moments.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully the Broncos can mitigate that in London.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_02]: Defensive player of the week.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_02]: You love to see it.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_02]: He's leading the NFL Zach in sacks on a defense that also as a collective unit is leading the NFL in sacks.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: So the Benito profile is rising.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: And last year, I submit that if he doesn't have maybe one of those games, but I'll just throw it out there.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_02]: So if he doesn't have those back to back games with defensive touchdowns, does he get a probable nod?
- 17:12[SPEAKER_02]: Does he become a second team all pro?
- 17:14[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe they save it for let's see if he can do it next year, but those two plays were like undeniable and on top of his sack production whatever was 13 and a half He got the accolades and this year's Zach.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't have those huge huge yet anyway Take away is returning it to the house, but do it if he even gets one of those and he stays on this pace Even if he doesn't get one he stays on this pace of sacks.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean he's on pace for what is it?
- 17:40[SPEAKER_02]: I did I did them.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: I did them at home
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: He's on pace for 24 sacks this season.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'll break the record, right?
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, by a full second half, um, he's on a defensive player of the year trajectory right now and he had to do all that last season, Chad, so he gets a proble status.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't have the name recognition.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't have the cliche in the NFL.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: He does have that now, also with the mega extension.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: So as long as he stays healthy, he'll be a perennial proble.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: If he wants to make a d-boy, though, like PS2, like you said, he's going to have to have those interception returns and more crocks grabbing.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: No doubt.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_02]: No doubt.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you Phil for bringing that up.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: We wanted a chance to talk about it.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_02]: We hadn't Zack and I anyway had a chance to talk about Benito.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: Sam jumping in again to say also I've got my tickets and flights for the Cowboys game October 26 and then for the Texans game on November 2nd in Houston.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry I'm missing the meeting greet will make it some day go Broncos.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_02]: Hey dude, sometimes the stars don't align stoked to hear though that you're getting a chance twice this year to catch the team live.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: So good for you big dog.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: That's going to be a blast.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you picked two of the better games on the schedule.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: Sam, those should be bangers.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate the super again.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: No doubt, no doubt.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_02]: And that Texan's game as they continue to kind of inch forward and get better offensively.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: It could be a little bit stiffer than it looked just a couple weeks ago, but Camden, what's up, dude?
- 19:05[SPEAKER_02]: Good to see you, hey, you're a long time super star.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_02]: We value you, we appreciate you.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_02]: We don't take you for granted.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_02]: But we do want to invite you to become a member on YouTube buddy.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_02]: We need you in the inner sanctum.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_02]: He says, what's up, Broncos Country?
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'm hoping that the run game doesn't progress without powers.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_02]: And the Broncos offense can start clicking after the Eagles game.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm hoping something kind of broke loose there, because what we saw from them in the fourth quarter, and if they could do that, even like half the time,
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: They'd be forced to be reckoned with offensively, you know, but it starts with staying committed to that ground game and, you know, this early in the season.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: So how much do you want to use JK Dobbins?
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think right now Zach beggars can't be choosers in the sense that you drop two games that you very well could have won.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_02]: So now you're at three and two, but yes, you're over 500, but at the same time, you'd start taking anything for granted and letting it slip, not playing your best guys, you could easily swing the other direction.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: So I want to see JK Dobbins, but at the same time, let's start working our J in a little bit
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: the burden off a J.K.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_02]: Dobbins who's been pushing 20, 20 carries a last couple of weeks.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: The fully agree with that.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: And the thing with power is that's a valid concern because he's been blocking so well up front even if he doesn't get the kudos like a Quinn minors, but looks like Matt Pairt is going to be starting in place at him.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a downgrade of some sort.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: We just have to hope the rest of the offensive line can compensate and J.K.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: can and RJ for that matter can bully their way through against that tough jets front seven.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think bowls let that slip.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: Uh-huh.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_02]: Payton's like dang it, Garrett.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: We're trying to keep that from the enemy, man.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_02]: We're trying for that to be a surprise, but uh, kind of a, might surprise still people going wait.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he's a tackle, but
- 21:01[SPEAKER_02]: They played him wasn't Nick.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think had the breakdown.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_02]: He played, he's played per 78 snaps at left guard in the precies and over the past two years, he's been a Broncos.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_02]: So he is not inexperienced playing there.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_02]: Is he Ben Powers?
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: Probably not.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: What I'm most worried about Zack is not how it's going to affect Garibolt's, but how's it going to affect Luke Wattenberg?
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, perking definitely play inside and outside.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: They also, the Broncos did.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: People forget they signed him to a two year, $7 million extension before for agency began.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: So obviously, they like him.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's been in the pipeline with Zach Streep and Sean Payton.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: They'll just have to mitigate the one on one.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to face on Sunday with Quinn and Williams and the rest of that just defensive line.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_02]: No doubt.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: Let me grab this real quick.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: Scott from Adventure Soldier.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: Saying is the meat inside the actual stadium or is it a tailgate party man.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to go to one hashtag bucket list.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_02]: So it's outside the stadium.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's in the tailgate tailgate opens at 10 a.m.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_02]: And that's when we show up and get set up.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_02]: So you know what the goal of having everything ready and set up to start meeting and greeting folks and hanging out as of about 11.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_02]: So a lot D.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_02]: one of these days big dog hope to see you there.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for being a member as well, Solja.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, let me see here.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: We got Sam, we got Camden, Phil.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, Scott.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: Man, our management has made some great contract signings, Benito, and Sutton are getting more and more expensive.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I mean, both of them right now are looking like bargains like, you know, you kind of,
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: Eat your hat when you go Nick Benito's getting whatever was four years, 100 was 102 and something million, whatever.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: And even Sutton four years 92.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: But both of them, maybe a little less so Sutton's act, but especially Benito right now.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's the 10th highest paid adressor in the NFL.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_02]: And he leads the league in Sax.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Micah Parsons currently is the highest
- 23:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I said it before.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: It sounds crazy, but Benito might be the most underpaid $120 million player in NFL history.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's actually gotten better after signing that mega deal than he was last season.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people were worried that it was a flash on the pan or he would regress after getting the bag.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: He hasn't done that.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's actually looking like,
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: Von Miller out there on Sundays, but that is why Phil, we've been hammering it on this podcast and I'll pat ourselves on the back a little bit chat.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's why you pay players early because they only get more expensive if you wait and that is also why George Peyton is a top five GM in the NFL
- 23:44[SPEAKER_02]: Man, but Benito, as you guys know, I was kind of on the fence on when to pay him.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: Do you pay him before the season of risk, you know, the blown up in your face is a one year wonder, et cetera, et cetera.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_02]: Or do you get ahead of like Zaxi and get ahead of the curve on the never-ending rise in contract values, but they ultimately get paid the big bucks to make those decisions.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_02]: And they clearly in that case made the right one because boy, oh boy, Nick Benito has been an absolute,
- 24:13[SPEAKER_02]: animal this season, and I think it was Todd, who was it asking is, yeah, is the better comp for Benito Elvis Dumerville or Shack Barrett neither?
- 24:24[SPEAKER_02]: He's very different than either those guys know fence Todd.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like Dumerville, he won with those long ass arms he had.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: Dude, he had ridiculous arms.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_02]: Nick would probably like rattle off to you off the top of the set, how long his arms were.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_02]: Shack Barrett had long
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: arms to, but he was both of them are a little bit more pudgy.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: Both of them could also, you know, put their hand in the dirt and be a four, three defensive end, but needles more like a Von Miller, maybe a little bit less strong in terms of power and the point of attack, but he's much closer to a guy like Bonzack than he is a Duma Villora Barrett, and he talked about how he wants to be like Von Miller and one day make it to the Hall of Fame.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_02]: So, let's go.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's exactly what I was going to say.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: If there's a comp for him, I know it seems pretty gaudy, but it's Von Miller.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: The bend, the speed off the edge, I haven't seen that.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: Since Von Miller, even when Demarkis where was playing opposite him, only Von can do that.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: Now, he's not as bulky as Von.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's on his all around good as a defensive player as Von was, but as a pass rusher, that's who I see on Sundays.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos play on my birthday, Chad mentioned it on Monday.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: So guys,
- 25:34[SPEAKER_02]: I got it in my calendar, do you guys have it in yours because we're going to be celebrating the rocks birthday on the twelfth, just a couple of days, really stoked for you big duck.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_02]: Don't worry, you'll be getting some happy birthdays on the gut reaction, do not doubt it for a second.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_02]: if you wouldn't mind and while you're doing that, Zach, I wanted to get your thoughts on something John L.A.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_02]: said, and then we'll get to the head to head.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: And this was in a, an interview given to Forbes magazine.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_02]: And mostly it was him kind of reacting to the Broncos big upset
- 26:31[SPEAKER_02]: high expectations.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_02]: I want to win the Super Bowl every year guy.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_02]: Those of you follow it along and we're part of Broncos Book Club on the L way years.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, son of bum, real quick.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry for the, I just remembered if I didn't remember now, probably wouldn't have forgotten.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully you guys got your next book for Broncos Book Club members on YouTube, son of bum, and tomorrow is supposed to be the first episode of son of bum, but
- 26:55[SPEAKER_02]: something came up today that is going to cause me to be away from the office at that time.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: So it's going to be the same day or the same time Saturday this time.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: So just Broncos book clubbers, Saturday noon mountain time instead of Friday this week only.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_02]: But back to the point, John L.A.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_02]: Zach, he's got the high high expectations.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_02]: Here's what he said, quote, even though the Broncos made the playoffs last year, it's been 2015 since we've been to a Super Bowl.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_02]: So he's going, yeah, playoffs cool, but like it's, we saw him back to a Super Bowl.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_02]: quote, working our way back to that, you don't like to say regular season games are signature wins, but I think with where the Broncos are, I think it's a good win for them as far as just confidence close close.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: So he he's reluctant to call it a signature win because it's a regular season game.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: What do you make of that?
- 27:48[SPEAKER_01]: He just sounds like someone who's very old school Chad who played football in the 80s and the 90s and it's seeing the game change.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: It also sounds like he might be living off of 2016, 2015.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's still a little bit.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to say sour grapes, but I'll just say that's his opinion.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think, I mean, I get it the high kind of expectations and we're talking about a guy who's been at the top of the mountain many, many times.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: But for a team, yes, the Broncos made the playoffs last year
- 28:18[SPEAKER_02]: But dude, they needed that.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_02]: And it was, I mean, we talked about it Sunday.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_02]: I think we got asked about it.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_02]: Was this the biggest game for Sean Payton of the Sean Payton era?
- 28:28[SPEAKER_02]: And you could compare the chiefs win in 2023, right, break in the streak with Russell Wilson.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_02]: And the clincher last season to get into the playoffs against the chiefs backups, but in terms of like really
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe it's not a signature win in John L. is definition, but at least I could think it's safe to call it a statement win.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: This point, it sounds like we're splitting hairs though.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand, always problem with that word.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: The brakko's did make a statement.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: They went into the house of the raining Super Bowl champions and a historically bad time slot for them.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: One o'clock Eastern Chad and they took a tool in a fourth quarter come back at an epic fashion.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: The brakko's snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: How is that not a statement made to the NFL?
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: No doubt about it, and it's also symbolic that the last time the Broncos had one in Philly was with L.A.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_02]: as quarterback going all the way back nearly 40 years, 1986.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: So you got to love those parallels, right?
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: Bonix, the first rookie quarterback to start week one since John L.A.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_02]: Many other L.A.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_02]: marks he's already met or exceeded as a second year guy.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_01]: of what he said though, you know?
- 29:46[SPEAKER_02]: For sure.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: For sure.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: Let's do it.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: Scott, let's do the head to head as everybody knows.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_02]: The green stands for top 10 ranking red means bottom 10.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_02]: Your Denver Broncos are three and two.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_02]: The jets are windless.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, Owen Fibesack, but just like a corner of animal that's wounded, right?
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: They're wounded, you corner them.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_02]: Man, that's when they're at their most dangerous.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_02]: And that's a cautionary word relative to how the Broncos should be viewing the jets.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_02]: But you look at these two head to head.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_02]: Broncos have started to improve their, well, I guess they haven't improved the turnover margin because there was no giveaways last week or takeaways that I recall.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_02]: But either way,
- 30:30[SPEAKER_02]: minus two, it's not terrible.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_02]: It's not great.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's middle of the pack.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: The jets, those Zach, look at this.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_02]: They're dead last in the NFL.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_02]: They've given the ball away eight times more than they've taken it.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_02]: So they're minus eight.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: They're ranked 30 second time of possession.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_02]: They're middle of the pack.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_02]: Broncos are ranked 10th.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_02]: So that's good.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_02]: Offense, you look at the Broncos.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_02]: They're 10th.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_02]: They're fourth in rushing yards.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_02]: So a couple of all off the cuff, a couple of top 10 rankings.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_02]: And there's that mark that Zach talked about a few
- 31:00[SPEAKER_02]: the one calling card the jets have offensively.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_02]: They are the third ranked rushing offense.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_02]: One spot ahead of your Denver Broncos, fourth ranked rushing offense.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_02]: But the Broncos act their middle of the pack in terms of passing, but they could easily get into the top 10 with one prolific game from Bo points.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_02]: This is a middle of the pack Broncos team.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_02]: The jets look, they're only averaging one point fewer
- 31:26[SPEAKER_02]: than the Broncos, so they ranked 19th, the Broncos ranked 18th in scoring, but the interceptions, well, really, it's the fumbles lost.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_02]: Fills, I think, only one pick or maybe no picks.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_02]: What was I reading earlier?
- 31:38[SPEAKER_02]: But either way, look at that.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: Zack, seven fumbles last, that's dead last, eight giveaways, 16 sacks, 25, that's the 25th most in the NFL.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_02]: They suck on third down.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos mean while they're second fused in sacks aloud, even though they gave up two last week, the second fused, 24th on third down.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_02]: That's a numbers act that, hey, you love to see the Broncos or top 10 in red zone offense, but you got to see those third
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: You mentioned that just being a wounded animal, they might be wounded shed, but they're more likely to knock off their own tail than they are your face because they can't do anything right, except run the ball.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: And what's even worse for them is, again, if they're windless for a reason, a lot of their numbers have come in garbage time.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: So if they were competitive games, they would look even worse in these rankings.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: All they can really do is run the football with brief hauling fields, but even then they're down by three, four touch sounds at that point.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't really matter that Broko's defense should feast T off from the opening whistle.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so thank you Scott for checking on that real quick.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_02]: I thought I'd read that right from Luke's keys to victory today.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_02]: So Justin Fields has not been picked off, but he's got three lost fumbles and his Scott says, yeah, what, they run the ball well, but when they run it, they fumble it, right?
- 32:54[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, a little bit of a problem.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_02]: So Broncos basically guys you stop the run here.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's curtains for the jets offense.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_02]: So that's going to be the mandate for Vance Joseph's defense, which we get to here Scott on the look at all this greenery boys and girls.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean fifth are the Broncos in yards six than yards per play second in scoring.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_02]: So they're giving up 16.8 points per game.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_02]: That second few is
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: fifth in rushing, eighth in passing.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_02]: They only have one pick though, which is tied for the 27th fewest in the NFL, but they have three fumble recoveries.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_02]: That's been a slight saving grace.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_02]: 21 sacks, as we mentioned earlier when we were talking about Benito, that ranks for the most in the NFL.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: Well, look at the jets.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_02]: 20 second yardage, 26 in yards per play.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_02]: One team only Zach is worse that given up points than the Jets.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_02]: They rank the 31st, given up 31.4 points.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_02]: They can't stop the run.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_02]: They're modestly, they're plausible in terms of their passing defense, but teams aren't really trying to throw it all that much on the Jets because they can just run it will.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: But they don't have a takeaway Zach.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_02]: They're five games into this season.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: They don't have a takeaway, which reminds me it's slightly different, but it reminds me Vic Fangio's coming from that.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_02]: Narlie Bears defense that was went deep into the playoffs.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yada Yada led the NFL in Sacks year one.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_02]: He's got Vaughn Miller.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_02]: He's got Bradley Chub, the first four games, zero Sacks.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_02]: They got, I think they finally got Usack in the fourth game.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_02]: And then Bradley Chub tours ACL or was it Vaughn?
- 34:31[SPEAKER_02]: I can't recall which one was that year.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_02]: But either way,
- 34:33[SPEAKER_02]: Kind of reminds me of that, but their five games in Zach, zero takeaways.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_02]: They're solid on third down as a defense.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_02]: They're solid in the red zone as a defense, whereas the Broncos are elite.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I love to see too.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: Even more so than Sachs and all the other numbers chat how well they are in third downs and how well they are in the red zone.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: The jets they literally can't do anything right on defense and it's funny that Nick Benito alone has as many Sachs as the jets do as a team.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: Put it that way.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_02]: So, I mean, we're seeing it special teams here.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_02]: Where do the Broncos have some greenery right now?
- 35:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's really just their punt returns for Marvin Mims.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_02]: You'll notice as the Eagles did last week, they can't really kick away.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they can, but you start losing control of where the ball's going.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_02]: You can't kick away from the punt returners per se.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_02]: You can on kick returns.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_02]: And you saw them
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: the average right now for the Broncos.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_02]: not so good.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: They're still struggling Zack to cover kick returns.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: This is why it's like, hey, man, it might be for the best that Q Robinson could be getting his number called and suits up this time.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_02]: Not to say, it should ever come at the expense of Jonah Ellis.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying Jonah Ellis, you know, should take it back seat to Q Robinson because of special teams don't get me wrong here.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying might be a silver lining here because their return coverage, whether it's punt or
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'll amend what I said, the Jets do two things right.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: They can also kick field goals.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: They can run the ball and they can kick field goals pretty well.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's basically it.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_02]: They're decent in returning the kick so far, third most, third highest average, I should say.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_02]: And there's just a good containing punt returns, only a 4.1 yard average.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_02]: So that's going to be interesting to see how Marvin Mims does going up against that stingy of a return unit.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: And hopefully it won't even matter chat, you know, hopefully, no matter where the Broncos start on the field, they can march down the field and score points.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: This should be a very easy game for them.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: Should be.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_02]: Then we look at penalties.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos, guys, only couple teams are worse.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_02]: They have committed 43 that's tied for 30th, whereas opponents have been penalized 47 times, which is the second most in the NFL for opponents.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_02]: So as Zach likes to talk about, man, when the Broncos are on the field, it's champagne, those refs have their laundry quick at hand, their hair trigger on throwing that laundry.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_02]: But you look at the jets, they're not that much better.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they only have one fewer penalty, which ties in for 24th.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a lot of teams, in other words, right there at 42 penalties.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_02]: And like the Broncos, too, their opponents are getting a lot of penalties called on them as well.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_01]: See, this pisses me off though, there's no reason why the Broncos should have 43 penalties shed.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: And the jets having 42 is one thing considering they have a rookie head coach.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos have to cut that out if they want to seriously compete in the AFC.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_02]: No doubt.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_02]: You brought up Zack, the field goal percentage for the jets right now be in a hundred percent.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_02]: Nick Folk, he's been one of their only weapons, nine for nine.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_02]: and from 50 MB on Zach, he's four for four.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_02]: So don't let this become a field goal game and you'll probably be okay.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it shouldn't even be.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_01]: Again, they could put up some numbers in garbage time to make the score look better, but this should not be competitive at all.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: So there we have it.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_02]: The Denver Broncos and Jets head to head.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_02]: What do you think, guys?
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: How are you feeling?
- 38:14[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I doubt anything we just saw there is gonna,
- 38:17[SPEAKER_02]: change anyone's take or view, whatever it may have been prior to the head to head to head.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_02]: The Broncos are quite clearly zacked this superior team here, but you still have to be where all of the traditional trappings of a trapping.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, we saw two instances so far of the season where the Broncos were on paper, the much better team, week one and the filly game last week.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: Excuse me, this Cincinnati game.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: In week one, the Broncos struggled.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't look like the better team for a lot of that game.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: Cincinnati, they did though.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: They were just in different classes.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I want to see this Sunday in London.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see the Broncos play a different brand of football, different planet than the Jets are on.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_02]: And while we're live here, the Philadelphia Eagles got kind of in a little bit of a whole 10 points against the giants, but they have battled back and have narrowed the margin to three.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: people are going to the Broncos break the Eagles and saying, no, there's been a little something kind of stinky about them since the season started.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_02]: Their four-note star Zach was very fortuitous in all the same ways that the Broncos came out on the wrong end of a couple of close ones.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_02]: They were the team that came out on the right.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_02]: The right end thanks to their experience in such high stakes games and situation of football and all that, but I think the biggest thing, not, you know, just real quick that's hurting the Eagles right now, it's not personnel, it's the fact that it's a new offense, yep, again, for Jalen Hertz and this time in particular, it's taking them some time to figure out things and getting to a rhythm clearly.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of Eagles fans do not like the O.C.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: Kevin Patulo, I think his name is, yeah, Chad.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: If I was covering them, though, I would be very dismayed about how they started this game so far.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_01]: They should take care of the Giants, but it's a short week.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: You're coming off a tough loss.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_01]: This is your time to get that taste out of your mouth, and you should be able to beat up on an inferior Giants team.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: In the fact that they haven't yet, a little concerning.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_02]: a string guy let's let's see what's on the mind of the chat and especially the members here Roger says I think L way going back to that quote I had earlier just wishes he was still a part of the team in some capacity I think he got his feelings hurt when he was not allowed to get in on minority ownership like Brady is with the Raiders well really always opportunity to get in was
- 40:41[SPEAKER_02]: But the previous owner, I'm brain-farting his name.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_02]: We learned about this in the O.A.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_02]: years book, my class.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_02]: Dang it, I'm going to bring forth the previous, but he had a clause when he sold the team to Pat Bowlin that if Bowlin ever sought to sell either the majority share or a minority share of the ownership, he would get first right or refusal.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_02]: And so he took,
- 41:04[SPEAKER_02]: ball into court when Bowling was trying to sell a piece to L.A.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_02]: and that it got tied up so long in the courts, Bowling eventually prevailed, but it got tied up for so long that L.A.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_02]: kind of moved on.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_02]: But Zack, just the general principle here with Rodgers trying to say, do you think he's got some kind of sour grapes that he wishes he was still part of things?
- 41:22[SPEAKER_02]: Because I don't necessarily get that feeling.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's kind of how I stopped short of saying that Roger that it was sour grapes, but it does seem like it is a little, I don't know, he's a little salty about it in some way and trying to tamp it down.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: And when someone goes out of their way to try to belittle you or bring you down, there's usually a reason behind that.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe it's like you said, Chad, the last time they beat the Eagles in Philly, L.A.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: was there.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he wanted that record for himself.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_01]: He is that egotistical.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_02]: Edgar Kaiser, by the way, that that was the name I was searching for the pre pre Bowen owner.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_02]: Pro 16, a deer member saying the Broncos are seven and six against the Giants all time.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_02]: They always play us tough, but we're gonna smoke him this time.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I just, you got to love it, Zach, the opportunity for this defense at any point to go against a rookie quarterback, like, you know, you look forward to that, you lap that up, but in terms of
- 42:18[SPEAKER_02]: one of the what what to watch for uh well we'll we'll we'll see about the giants next week right now we're still we're still got to figure out these jets.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_01]: There are a lot like the jets the giants are they have a scrambling type of quarterback who's not the greatest pass or even though he hasn't excused because he's a rookie they don't have many weapons and offense and they have a couple players in the front seven on defense other than that the Broncos should take
- 42:49[SPEAKER_02]: to say, guys, what penalties being called the most against us?
- 42:54[SPEAKER_02]: Also, I can't remember being called off-sides on offense, once the last time we got called for that previous years.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_02]: Not sure exactly when that was, but the Broncos have been penalized.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_02]: Here's how it breaks down, you're ready.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_02]: The penalty they've been flagged for the most thus far is holding offensive holding eight penalties against.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_02]: then it's defensive passener clearance 7, then it's 5 fall starts, then it's 4 delay of game, 4 delay of game, Sean Payton's fallen on one or two of those swords, but come on man, but that's also on bone X, off-sides on the defense three times, offensive PI,
- 43:38[SPEAKER_02]: two of them, illegal contact two of them, defensive holding two of them, face mask, two of them, and an unnecessary roughness, which was the Talonoa who found a suplex in whatever loss that was, was that the chargers.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_02]: So there you have it, Phil, the answer to your question is holding eight.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was surprised Peyton showed a little humility Chad the other day in his press conference.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: He said that the lay of game was on me.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: I had trouble spitting it out, the play call in the, in the huddle.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_01]: So got to get better with that.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: These procedural penalties.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_02]: Dude, stoked, Ron, he says I got the book, Chad, for Broncos Book Club.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_02]: Son of Bum, this is a book I've read before.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's really good for the members who might be interested in joining in on Book Club.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_02]: Even if you don't fall along and read the book,
- 44:27[SPEAKER_02]: streams covering the, whatever the week's assignment is, because it's a lot of fun, good conversation.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_02]: We always talk about whatever the current events are and then we get to the book, but this book, son of bum.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, you get a lot of non- Broncos stuff, especially early learning the story of Wade Phillips and, you know, some backstory of his father, Bum Phillips, and how, but he spends so much time of his coaching career and the pinnacle moments of his career, at least when this, especially when this book was written, with the Broncos that a good portion of this book is Broncos' centric, but the best part about it is the focus and breakdown of the Super Bowl 50 season.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's gonna be a lot of fun.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_02]: Zach's like, I don't read books.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_02]: What do you want me to look for me over here?
- 45:15[SPEAKER_02]: Dude.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: No, the show.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't read books, but the show is good.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'll coastline that.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: Check it out, guys.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_02]: All right, guys.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_02]: Let me grab a couple more.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_02]: Call this the two minute warning before we get out of here.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_02]: Any burning questions.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_02]: Get them in the chat.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_02]: So Zach Bob had an article that published this morning.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_02]: just kind of looking at possible trade scenarios for the Broncos because the deadline we're now inside a month.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's November 4th off the top of my head if I recall.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_02]: And in his article, potential mid-season trade options that are emerging for the Broncos.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_02]: He mainly focuses on players that the team could trade for, so like not players, but positions
- 46:04[SPEAKER_02]: because of powers, but the position to your kind of in a strength he argues to trade away would be running back.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_02]: This is another option.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: I do not co-sign that McMillan should be dealt because he's been an absolute stud for the Broncos this year.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_02]: And he took that the Shadei Barron pick as definitely a shot across the bow and he's played well.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_02]: He's already got two sacks this season, which gives him five by the way for his career.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_02]: Why is that important?
- 46:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's the most by an undrafted Broncos cornerback in team history.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_02]: So if you were to trade, jacquan McMillan,
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: could you think you could get a second round pick?
- 46:46[SPEAKER_01]: No, core, I'll answer the question.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that like Jalen Rams, you're anyone would go for a first round pick or a second round pick right now.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe mid-round pick, conditional mid-round pick for someone like that, but he's worth more to the Broncos than he then getting back a draft pick.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't trade him either.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Pearl, good to see you.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_02]: Good to have you.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_02]: Even if it's late, my friend.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I think let me double check something here.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think was there any others.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_02]: I started that we haven't gone to you.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_02]: I got that one.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, shout out Joe Anthony on Facebook.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_02]: What's up, buddy.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_02]: Good to have you in the chat, my friend.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_02]: Hope it's been a good show for you.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_02]: All right, I'm taking Zach.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_02]: Why don't you do this.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'll all look at a couple of member comments questions while you go through our little callouts at the end and then we'll hit him before we did.

- 48:18[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, before we dip on out of here,
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: Let me grab a couple here.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_02]: So William says, a deer member says, this team gives me PTSD.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_02]: I keep thinking of ways that jets will beat us.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I would take will out and put could.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think the Broncos are gonna let that happen.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_02]: Even if it's ugly, they're not gonna lose this game.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_02]: So I wouldn't worry too much about the jets.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, at some point, we have to realize this is a new Broncos team we can't get heard anymore.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_01]: We can't allow the old Broncos ghosts to hurt us.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_01]: This is a much happier memory, soon to be Roy, dude, it's going to be a gas.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_02]: He says, can't wait to see you guys next week.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_02]: Same here, dude.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_02]: Really looking forward to it.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_02]: Make sure anyone who's traveling the Denver that safe travels and whatnot, Jake, a deer member, says anyone know if I can watch the game on local TV or do I have to have
- 49:14[SPEAKER_02]: NFL Network.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_02]: So the game is being broadcast on NFL Network.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure yet, Zach, do you have an answer to?
- 49:24[SPEAKER_02]: Do you know the answer to this?
- 49:25[SPEAKER_02]: If there is going to be a local, I don't think so.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's what do you know?
- 49:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think you have to have NFL Network.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_01]: Don't quote me.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty sure though.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'm looking at the official, um,
- 49:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking at the Broncos gamecastle that they send out to us and they send out to like the broadcast and let's you know where it's going to be that who's broadcasting it on television, national radio, local radio.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_02]: And in this instance, they only list one broadcaster Zach and that is NFL Network play by play, richizing color commentary, Kurt Warner sideline Sarah Walsh.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_02]: So there you have it.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you Scott.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_02]: We'll be Simon cast.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, there you go.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_02]: KMGH, so it's going to be on ABC local and WNBC for New York.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_02]: So you should be able to find it, guys.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_02]: You should be able to find it.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_02]: And we'll be going live immediately after, of course, for the gut reaction.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_02]: It'll be a different time of the day than you're used to seeing us on a Sunday.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_02]: But,
- 50:28[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, lunchtime gut reaction.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_02]: Mile high salute, special shout out to all the great super chat superstars, supporters, members, helping us keep the lights on.

- 51:03[SPEAKER_02]: I love logging in Zach and we're rolling live on stream yard and we see so many names on our end It lets you know who's a member because their name is in green and then it has that circle symbol with the slashes in it.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_02]: So I just love that.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you guys.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_02]: Appreciate you
- 51:18[SPEAKER_02]: We'll be seeing Zach and I together, Sunday for the gut and like I said, Broncos Book Club will still be going on this week, but it'll be Saturday at noon instead of Friday this time.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_01]: We will see an early Sunday for the gut reaction.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_01]: Have a great start to your weekend.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_01]: Take care and as always, go Broncos.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_00]: Head on over to mylhyhuddle.com for all things, Broncos.
