- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Just picked one lane.
- 0:01SPEAKER_01: I don't feel like I would have been as successful either.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: Because I think you need to have a couple of different pillars that you enjoy.
- 0:14SPEAKER_03: Hey leaders, I'm Jake, a loan officer obsessed with business growth and finding out what's actually working in our market.
- 0:22SPEAKER_03: If that sounds useful, hit follow.
- 0:24SPEAKER_03: Now, this week's leader.
- 0:32SPEAKER_03: All right, we're recording.
- 0:33SPEAKER_03: Emily, thanks for coming on and doing this with me.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: Happy to be here.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: Thanks for having me.
- 0:39SPEAKER_03: Cool.
- 0:39SPEAKER_03: So you're with the Southern Roots property team at Coldwell Banker.
- 0:45SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 0:45SPEAKER_03: You specialize in relocation, first-time home buyers, and new construction.
- 0:52SPEAKER_03: Um, and you got licensed at the end of 2023.
- 0:56SPEAKER_03: Do I have that all correct?
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: Yes, you do.
- 0:59SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 0:59SPEAKER_03: And you actually closed your first client in January 24.
- 1:04SPEAKER_03: So a pretty quick ramp up.
- 1:06SPEAKER_03: So the first thing I want to do is just go back to, you know, these like early months.
- 1:12SPEAKER_03: And can you just kind of like walk me through how you built up a business so quickly?
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: So um I built up fairly quickly because I also was on a previous team.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: And um, so being on um a team, I was able to have uh access to some of the different like lead platforms you might not have had, um, being on your own, kind of starting off.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Um, and then I also feel like it's just a little bit of luck because even if you have all the leads or you know people, it's really about making those connections.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: So I feel like if I wasn't able to make those connections, it still probably wouldn't have happened as quickly as it did.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: But um definitely I think a little bit of luck went into that.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: And then also just preparing beforehand, doing a lot of the back end work before we stepped into really working with clients.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: So I had a lot of support and I was able to kind of build the back office and really make those connections before that first transaction.
- 2:15SPEAKER_03: There's gotta be something about your personality though.
- 2:17SPEAKER_03: Like I can even tell, like, we hopped on and we just started like laughing about stuff right away.
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: So I don't know if this is intentional or if it's just like organically you.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: Um, there's gotta be something that clients feel comfortable whenever they meet you.
- 2:31SPEAKER_03: Do I have that right?
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, definitely.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm a people person.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: My husband is like, you're the biggest people person, you're very bubbly.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: Like, he's my opposite.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: So like he's a little more introverted, likes to just hang out with his family and his close friends, where I'm like always wanting to meet people and make those connections.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: And community is really important to me.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: So um, that's another reason why I think probably it works out.
- 2:57SPEAKER_03: Very similar with me and my wife, Britt.
- 2:59SPEAKER_03: So actually, just this weekend, we went out to Denver.
- 3:02SPEAKER_03: We were going to a concert and we like met up with some of her friends before it, and we went out and we just we met like their friends were there, and so we met like you know, over a dozen people.
- 3:15SPEAKER_03: But we left this place and I was like, Britt, my social battery is on like zero already, and we haven't even gone to this concert where we're gonna be around 20,000 other people yet.
- 3:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and she's like, Oh my god, I feel so energized right now, you know.
- 3:30SPEAKER_03: So um definitely can relate to that dynamic, but but you you see a lot of people throughout the day.
- 3:37SPEAKER_03: So you're doing this and coaching some fitness as well, right?
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: Correct, yes.
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 3:42SPEAKER_03: So talk to me about the balance of that.
- 3:44SPEAKER_03: How is that working for you right now?
- 3:46SPEAKER_03: Have you always balanced these these two careers since you started in real estate?
- 3:50SPEAKER_03: What does that look like?
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: I have.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: I've always balanced this.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: Um, since I started, um, even like before I got licensed, I've been balancing this because before I got licensed, I was doing um client care coordinating and then I was also doing social media.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: And then I was like, well, this is kind of silly.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Why don't I just, you know, kind of jump in, get your feet wet, and just do the thing.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: And so I did.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: So I've been balancing it the whole time.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Um, that's actually how I made my connections getting into real estate was through the fitness realm, which is kind of funny.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: It was um another woman that I know and I'm friends with, and um, she'd been taking my classes for years, and she's like approached me and was like, would you ever want to like do this?
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I don't know, maybe like so it just kind of spiraled from there.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: Okay, cool.
- 4:40SPEAKER_03: Um so how often are you still coaching then?
- 4:44SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to like picture your schedule today, you know?
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: So I coach right now three days a week in the morning.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: So I usually um get up super early, get the kids ready, take them to whatever practices they have before school.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: Cause I have a couple of my sons actually practice before school at like 5:15 a.m.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: is one of them.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: The next one's at 7:30 in the morning.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: So like we're like up and moving.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: And so uh I've I have made my coaching schedule to be really flexible for my clients so that way I can coach a few days a week and I'm done by like 10:30 in the morning, and then the rest of the day is like dedicated to um going meeting with my team and um kind of collaborating and then going and be able to do whatever my clients need and to meet with them as well.
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: So tell me more about this 515 practice.
- 5:40SPEAKER_03: What what what sport is this that is practicing?
- 5:42SPEAKER_03: It's swim.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: Um it's uh for yeah, it's for the high school.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: So it's it's swim at 515 in the morning.
- 5:50SPEAKER_03: Oh man.
- 5:51SPEAKER_03: Is that I I'm assuming, and now we're way off track already.
- 5:54SPEAKER_03: Sorry, but no, you're good.
- 5:56SPEAKER_03: Um I'm assuming that's because you can't get the the pool times.
- 5:59SPEAKER_03: There's only so many limited pool times.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so quite a few of our um high schools in the area um practice over at like the North Charleston Aquatic Center.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: And so, yes, because they open up to the public, and then because of school schedule, so the high school doesn't start till 9.15, but these practices are two hours long, so these kids are there from 5:15 to like 7:30.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: So oh man.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: Um they must be in really good shape though.
- 6:27SPEAKER_03: Swimming is no joke, swimming for two hours.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: I after 15 minutes um five to six days a week, yeah.
- 6:33SPEAKER_03: Oh man, they must be in their lung capacity, must be killer.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, like my son's cardio was way better than mine.
- 6:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, holy smokes.
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: So let me dive into the fitness thing.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: So, what uh what kind of fitness coaching do you do?
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: So I'm actually the master trainer for uh Hilo Fitness, the next end location.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: We have a couple of locations, I'm sure you know, West actually in Mount Pleasant.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: And so we have just been here for about two years now.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: And um, so I not only coach, I also train new coaches to coach.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: So that's also my role.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: So I'm involved in the training aspect as well.
- 7:17SPEAKER_03: So my what questions transfer best from working in the fitness space, even coaching coaches to real estate?
- 7:27SPEAKER_03: Because there's gotta be some parallels in how you talk to people, the way you communicate things that you learned in that space that transfer really well to real estate.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: I feel like being able to kind of dig deeper into what might be what someone is really feeling or thinking, and being able to articulate that a little bit better, like a better explanation, or like really dig into maybe why they have a question about something.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: So I feel like the articulation and being able to really explain things well transfers over from the coaching side and from training new trainers is because sometimes I have um young men and women who have never done any type of coaching.
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: So they're like brand new and you're getting them on the mic for the first time, and it's like you're trying to explain these things to them.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: And so I feel like it's almost like a first-time home buyer.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: Like sometimes it's like, hey, it's your first time on the mic, it's your first time buying a home.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: So like now these are the steps.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: This is what we're gonna do, and this is how I'm gonna get you there.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: This is how I'm gonna support you and help you, and you can ask me a million and one questions, and we're gonna get, we're gonna do this together.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: Like we're jointly doing this because I want them to succeed as much as they want to succeed.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: Kind of like I want them to find that perfect house for them, and I'm gonna help them find it.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: And then we're gonna get to the closing table.
- 8:53SPEAKER_03: So that's such a great way of looking at it too.
- 8:56SPEAKER_03: And especially you mentioned first-time home buyers, because sometimes what they ask, and I see this on the loan side too, you know, they're asking a question that they think they have a question about, but it's really, you know, they're feeling something else, you know?
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: So really breaking through that.
- 9:15SPEAKER_03: Um, I I think that's such a huge thing.
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: Um, and it's it's really hard, you know, without, you know, it's because you want to be like, no, you're actually asking about this.
- 9:25SPEAKER_03: Let me talk about this.
- 9:26SPEAKER_03: And then they feel like you're talking over them, you know.
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: 100%.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: So man, that's such a great skill to be able to, you know, adapt a conversation and really guide somewhere without you know, steering, obviously.
- 9:39SPEAKER_03: That's not yeah, obviously, yeah.
- 9:42SPEAKER_03: That's not what we're talking about.
- 9:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, I think that's such a great sales thing as well, you know, being able to present something clearly and articulately, like you mentioned there, even when they don't know that they have that question, you know?
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, definitely.
- 9:59SPEAKER_03: So, did you have sales experience then too?
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: Because it sounds like you have kind of walked through some of these things before, or was it all just coaching?
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: No, honestly, I feel like it's come mostly from coaching because I've been doing that for so long.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: Um, and you do do like I guess you kind of have a little bit of sales stuff as far as um, you know, memberships, but really I didn't, that was not my realm or my scope.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: I really just was one-on-one with the clients or the members or the participants that came in.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: Um a little bit probably came from I did vendor coordinating years and years and years ago for the Arizona Quarter Horse Association.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: So I think some of it came from that because I had to deal with vendors in big horse shows.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: And so I think maybe that's where that came from.
- 10:52SPEAKER_03: Wait, wait, the Arizona Quarter horse?
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Yes, association.
- 10:58SPEAKER_03: I have no idea what's a quarter horse.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: I know, right?
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: Okay, so if you're not a horse person, some horse people would know.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: Um so we were in the horse industry when we lived in Arizona.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: And um, so training horses, showing horses, things like that.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: And so um I got involved on the back end stuff um with the vendors and awards to some larger events that were in the area.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: And so I would help facilitate getting all of the vendors coordinated, setting them up, making sure that they had all their paperwork in, and then like making sure the event ran really smoothly and making sure all the awards got to all of our winners so that there was no confusion.
- 11:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 11:40SPEAKER_03: So you must be a very like detailed, I like spreadsheets kind of person.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: Okay, so like I will tell you.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: I'm not well, okay.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: So I do love a spreadsheet, okay, but I'm not like OCD about my spreadsheets.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: Like I have them and like I update them, but I'm not like constantly updating them every day.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: But I do like, I like to keep things organized so I know where everything is as far as like Google Drive and different folders and things like that.
- 12:11SPEAKER_03: So it sounds like you're in the perfect spot because I am like OCD about like things that need to be color coded in in the spreadsheet.
- 12:18SPEAKER_03: And literally I have spreadsheets pulled up all day.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: And there are times when I Okay, my if you looked at my screen right now though, you'd see like literally 20 tabs open.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: So like I'm not like I do have that my calendar's color coded.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: Every kid has a different color, every sport has a different color.
- 12:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:35SPEAKER_03: Well, let's actually talk about that.
- 12:36SPEAKER_03: That's one of the things that I wanted to hit on because we mentioned five kids.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 12:41SPEAKER_03: Running a real estate business, running a coaching business.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 12:44SPEAKER_03: I mean, I mean, it just walk me through how this even works on a day-to-day aspect.
- 12:50SPEAKER_03: You you've got to be incredibly organized and really great at your time blocking.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I have to time block.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Um, because if I didn't, things wouldn't get done.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: As far as, you know, I think that I always make sure that my family's taken care of and like everything is done almost the night before as far as like if uniforms are washed, what they need for the day, their meals are planned, and then I know when I get up exactly what I'm gonna do to get them where they need to be.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: Um, I would get up in the middle of the night if I thought somebody didn't have a swim trunk ready for the next day because I would rather have it out then than try and search for it at like 4 a.m., you know?
- 13:32SPEAKER_03: So yeah, don't blame you.
- 13:35SPEAKER_03: So military relo, which you special specialize in, correct?
- 13:39SPEAKER_03: Correct.
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: Um, it can be like a really specific niche.
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: Um, so for an agent who doesn't understand maybe that the specific details that are going into that, um, what do you find in the process that maybe somebody who's a general realtor might not understand about that specific spot?
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: Um, I think they might not understand maybe like the VA loan aspect of it or like, you know, because you haven't dealt with that before and what the expectation is for a VA loan and what things go along with it sometimes when it comes to um let's say repairs, for instance.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, you know, they want certain things done and they need to hit a certain standard.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: So it's not always smooth sailing, but for the most part, I think in my experience, um it's been great.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: It's been pretty smooth sailing as far as on the VA side.
- 14:43SPEAKER_03: Good, good.
- 14:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and sometimes those mindsets that come into the those transactions too are so overblown.
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: And I think even agents have this like, oh God, like here's a VA or even an FHA, you know, oh my gosh, we're doing an FHA appraisal, like everybody freak out, and it's like things it's gonna be fine.
- 15:03SPEAKER_03: Like, you know, um I agree.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: I think there's a lot of like maybe not fear, but there's a lot of doubts that might go in as some agents just kind of get a little bit nervous um with stepping into that if they haven't before.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: But honestly, I never really felt that way.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: Um, I felt like no matter if you are on the military side or you, this is your 10th house you've bought.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: I we're gonna treat you all the same, you know, like and go through the process together.
- 15:37SPEAKER_03: And there's definitely baggage that just comes with it too.
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: And, you know, we're in this spot where there's so much information available to people that some people just come in with bad information or even bad expectations, you know.
- 15:52SPEAKER_03: And that comes back to the conversation that we were having too about guiding people through these things, you know, when they might be thinking one thing but actually needing something else, you know.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: I mean, educating our clients as well as you know is so important, even educating before they're even a client, educating the people that you meet that you maybe you just have a phone call with and they're asking all these questions because they don't know, because chat GPT is a thing.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: And you know, like the internet is is ever present.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: And so I think a lot of people do get some really crazy things off the internet that aren't always true.
- 16:36SPEAKER_03: Thousand percent.
- 16:38SPEAKER_03: So going along with the kind of like specializing thing, I you know, a lot of people give the advice of pick a lane.
- 16:45SPEAKER_03: So for you, it could be, you know, go go a thousand percent in on the VA relo clients and don't alter from that.
- 16:54SPEAKER_03: But you're also working with some new construction folks.
- 16:56SPEAKER_03: Yes, you're also working with some first-time home buyers and you're finding success in a few different pots.
- 17:03SPEAKER_03: So I'm curious as to why this works for you um working in these different areas as opposed to I'm going hard into one lane.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: Um, so I think it works best for me too, because actually the funny thing about it is a lot of time a military buyer is a first-time home buyer, and then they tend to want to lean towards something that might be new construction.
- 17:29SPEAKER_01: Um, so especially in our area, well, you know, in the in the Charleston area, it's like, I mean, there's so much new construction, it's booming.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: And so um it's kind of all like ebbed and flowed into being able to work on all aspects.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: And then you build those relationships with the other builders and the um the agents that work for them too, and it's great for networking.
- 17:54SPEAKER_01: And I think that had I just picked one lane, I don't feel like I would have been as successful either.
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: Because I think you need to have a couple of different pillars that you enjoy.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: Like I the new construction is great.
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: I also I love working in the first-time homebuyers because it's really neat.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: Cause I was a first-time homebuyer.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: You know, so like I can go back to being like, man, I think that that is so cool to be part of someone's journey when they're just like stepping into something because it's a huge decision.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: I mean, you know that on the lending side, like, yeah.
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, it's the exact same.
- 18:32SPEAKER_03: So I work really well.
- 18:34SPEAKER_03: I feel like my process fits really well with first-time home buyers, you know, like we're meeting on Zoom and going through numbers just like this.
- 18:42SPEAKER_03: Um, and I I do feel like the loan officers that aren't doing that, I mean, that are just like sending a blanket email and like, here's some figures.
- 18:51SPEAKER_03: It there's just so much that goes into it at this point, you know.
- 18:55SPEAKER_03: And we both got into this industry after COVID.
- 18:58SPEAKER_03: Um so from what I've gathered, things really changed a lot then, you know, and it's really a massive undertaking at this point.
- 19:08SPEAKER_03: Um, I just I was on the phone with a client um at the end of last week, he was actually closing today.
- 19:14SPEAKER_03: Um, and I called him, he's like, dude, I am so over real estate transactions.
- 19:20SPEAKER_03: So he was selling a house in Virginia, moving down here, and he was just so burnt out.
- 19:25SPEAKER_03: He wasn't even a first-time home buyer or anything.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:27SPEAKER_03: But the process is just so convoluted.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: The process has been and also coming from a like a state move, like state to state, because things were different.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: I mean, um, I just um had a a client tell me that it took them, I think they were in New York, and it took months for them to close.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: And like, oh, that's normal.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, wait, what?
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: Like, she goes, so when they came here, it was 30 days, and they're like, that was so fast.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: Like, it's just it's so it's just different.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: State to state is different, yeah.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: And I think they they they don't set like a closing date in New York, they just give them a range, and they're like, Yeah, well, I think there's a couple, there's a couple like that, and I yeah, I don't know about that.
- 20:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, um, and I was just having the conversation too, I think it was Indiana.
- 20:19SPEAKER_03: So I mentioned being out of state this weekend, and the friends of mine they're making a purchase in Indiana, and they're like, Yeah, you don't go through the attorney at all.
- 20:27SPEAKER_03: So the realtor is handling all this stuff, and I was like, Oh god, I would be so terrified to let some of these people handle all of these, you know, assertive deeds, but like you're saying, it's just different.
- 20:39SPEAKER_03: Um it's so different.
- 20:41SPEAKER_01: Um, so South Carolina, I don't know if we're doing it right or wrong compared to some of these other states, but you know, I don't know because I haven't been licensed in another state, so I really wouldn't know, you know, like what to expect from states.
- 20:54SPEAKER_03: There's so many hands in the pot is the problem.
- 20:57SPEAKER_03: There's just so many people involved with one transaction.
- 21:01SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 21:02SPEAKER_03: And there's just so many details that can get lost when you're communicating from person to person to person to person.
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: Um, but anyways, a whole different rabbit hole that we could that we could go down.
- 21:13SPEAKER_03: Um when you look and you see some of the other agents that maybe started around the same time that you did, but might not be having this ramp up that you're, you know, still going through right now as business continues to build.
- 21:28SPEAKER_03: What is maybe one of the mistakes that you see them making that might be holding them back from some of the success that you're that you're finding?
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: Uh, follow-ups, like the powers in following up.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: And even if some time has passed, don't let it deter you.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: Just pick up the phone, make a phone call.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: I know it's awkward.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: We're in the world of like land of texting is a thing.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm not saying don't text people because that's a great way of communication, but still I'm like a little bit old school and I love to pick up the phone.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: Hmm.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, a thousand percent agree.
- 22:04SPEAKER_03: Um, when you say follow up, do you have like a system that you're following?
- 22:09SPEAKER_03: Cause I I know, like for me still, I'm like, oh, I let too many people slide through the cracks, you know?
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I do.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: Um, but you know, sometimes even with the systems in place, because like you'll have different alerts that go off.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: It's almost like, you know, like your phone's always going off, or email's always going off.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: So it's like you almost miss those.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: I really I'm old school.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: I love just a good paper calendar that I have out, and I have like notes in it and dates in it so that way I can flip it open and I can look at that too.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: Like I do save stuff on my phone too, as like tasks or different things in my Google calendar, but for the most part, I'm like a paper in like an old school calendar.
- 22:49SPEAKER_03: That's awesome.
- 22:50SPEAKER_03: Do you keep like handwritten with clients with like client lists and things like that too?
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: So I have like little notes, yeah, like on the date or something.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: Like let's say it was a closing, and then it's like a year later, I want to make sure that I've talked to them or I know it's um a birthday or they they have something really special coming up.
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, I have a client right now that um they have a baby shower coming up.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: So, you know, it's just it's the little things and just staying connected with everybody.
- 23:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:17SPEAKER_03: Well, you've done an incredible job.
- 23:19SPEAKER_03: Um just to kind of get to the last couple things here.
- 23:23SPEAKER_03: If there's one thing that you would want agents who are listening to this, if there's one thing that you would want them to walk away with, what would that be?
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: That would be to don't put yourself in a box.
- 23:40SPEAKER_01: Be willing to explore and it's okay to have another passion and pursue it.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: It's I don't I feel like so many people think they can only pursue one thing, but I think that you can pursue multiple things and be really good at it.
- 24:02SPEAKER_03: You know, it's interesting, like even talking to you over Zoom here, you know, you bring such a really great energy to your conversation.
- 24:12SPEAKER_03: And I'm sure clients feel that as well.
- 24:16SPEAKER_03: But I'm thinking one of the reasons is because you're not only doing real estate and are feeling like this crushing weight of the burnout, you know.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, burnout is real.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, it can be, especially when you see, you know, when when the industry and times get tough, it's you know, you can start to feel that panicky feeling.
- 24:40SPEAKER_01: And um, yeah, it's kind of it is definitely nice to to have that balance.
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: And it's also something that fulfills you in a different way.
- 24:50SPEAKER_03: And what a great thing to do on the side too, the the fitness aspect of it.
- 24:56SPEAKER_03: Because as I mentioned, like bringing the energy, you know, like that's one of the things that fills your cup, you know, as far as energy goes.
- 25:04SPEAKER_03: So I I don't know.
- 25:06SPEAKER_03: I don't know if I can think of a better like side hustle, side project, whatever you want to call it.
- 25:12SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, something that you're going to feel refreshed after it, you know, and you're gonna feel like you can go into these conversations and and bring, you know, positive vibes to it.
- 25:24SPEAKER_03: So what what a cool thing to like balance between the two worlds.
- 25:28SPEAKER_03: You've done such a good job.
- 25:29SPEAKER_03: That's awesome.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: Oh, thank you.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's been it's been great.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: Um, it's just it's a passion to mine both things and um being able to just connect with people and watching different communities grow is just it's pretty incredible.
- 25:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: We all need to unplug.
- 25:45SPEAKER_03: So whether it's going fishing or I played beer league hockey up at the up at the rink here at the ice palace for the phone.
- 25:53SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: My husband would do the fish, the fishing.
- 25:55SPEAKER_01: That's his that's his thing.
- 25:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:57SPEAKER_03: Get out on the water, get outside, whatever we need to do to unplug and spend some time.
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, it's funny how those clients they're always still there.
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: You know, you can unplug for an afternoon on a Saturday and be okay, you know.
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, absolutely, 100%.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: And I think that's important too.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: You need to be able to unplug.
- 26:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:17SPEAKER_03: Um, to wrap us up, thinking back to the Emily that just got licensed at the end of 2023.
- 26:26SPEAKER_03: Um, you don't know that you're gonna go into, you know, this real estate world and dive in like you have and balance all of these things with the five kids and all of these different things in your life.
- 26:37SPEAKER_03: What's one thing that you would tell that version of Emily at the end of 2023?
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: Don't give up.
- 26:46SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: Just keep going.
- 26:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:49SPEAKER_03: We still need that reminder to this day.
- 26:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: We do.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:54SPEAKER_03: Cool.
- 26:54SPEAKER_03: Well, this has been great.
- 26:56SPEAKER_03: You brought so much good advice.
- 26:58SPEAKER_03: Um, if anybody is listening wants to reach out to you, just ask follow-up questions, get in touch at all.
- 27:04SPEAKER_03: How can they find you?
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: Um, you can uh find me at um Emily Fraser Fitness on Instagram and shoot me a message.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: I'd love to connect.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: And yeah, give me a call.
