- 0:21Speaker 1: Hey, everyone, welcome to Bless. This is Southern True Grund podcast.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I don't care who is do, said hay Stu. All right,
- 0:25Speaker 1: we're back, and this week we're doing something a little different.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I think you've already explained that. And then there could
- 0:33Speaker 2: be new.
- 0:34Speaker 1: People, Stu, there could be new listeners. Just tune in, yes,
- 0:38Speaker 1: because it says Scott Peterson. We can have new people.
- 0:41Speaker 2: So this is the other Hunter somebody.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Well, you might not be able to because this is
- 0:45Speaker 1: either going to end up on Dateline on Patreon or
- 0:50Speaker 1: the regular one, depending on how much we get done
- 0:52Speaker 1: recording this weekend, because with everything that's we have going on,
- 0:56Speaker 1: I didn't have time to write a new case. But
- 0:58Speaker 1: we'd already started working on the Scott Peterson stuff, so
- 1:00Speaker 1: we might be able to record. It's three episodes. We
- 1:03Speaker 1: might be able to recorded the first episode and the
- 1:05Speaker 1: second episode. If that's the case, the first episode is
- 1:07Speaker 1: gonna go on the regular feed for everybody, and the
- 1:11Speaker 1: second episode is gonna be Patreon only on the week
- 1:13Speaker 1: we're gone on the cruise.
- 1:15Speaker 2: And then we'll just keep promising the third up. They
- 1:17Speaker 2: will post a third and over the yard and maybe
- 1:20Speaker 2: never put it up.
- 1:22Speaker 1: No I'm gonna We're gonna do good anyways. So anyway,
- 1:27Speaker 1: so we'll see how this goes. Because this is a
- 1:29Speaker 1: new format for us. We don't normally watch a show
- 1:33Speaker 1: and react to it or something, you know. It's more
- 1:36Speaker 1: of us like writing a case and then just reading
- 1:38Speaker 1: it through. So, well, this could be a disaster, or
- 1:42Speaker 1: it could be great. We don't know, we don't.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Know, probably gonna be terrible.
- 1:46Speaker 1: It's Schrodinger's podcast episode, it's not you don't know. It
- 1:50Speaker 1: could be good or it could be bad. You don't
- 1:52Speaker 1: know until you open, until you listen to it, you know.
- 1:54Speaker 1: So anyways, i'd tell you something dark, but I won't,
- 2:06Speaker 1: you know, like whenever we can't hear the baby and
- 2:08Speaker 1: we're like, oh, it's like Schrodinger.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Baby, Oh my god, what's wrong with you? You say
- 2:12Speaker 2: that all the time. I don't know who you're talking.
- 2:15Speaker 2: It's a joke.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Anyways, if you don't have a dark sits of humor,
- 2:20Speaker 1: just disregarded that whole podcast, you're really not gonna like
- 2:25Speaker 1: the fact that I started calling the weekend when we
- 2:27Speaker 1: were watching this so many times. We were having pizza
- 2:30Speaker 1: a couple of nights because we've been busy. So I
- 2:32Speaker 1: started telling my children we were gonna have the Scott
- 2:35Speaker 1: Peterson Special, which was pizza and milk, because that's what
- 2:38Speaker 1: he ate before he or after, yeah, after either before
- 2:44Speaker 1: before he told police, definitely, but possibly after he killed Lacey's.
- 2:47Speaker 1: But the kids don't know. It's it's an inside joke.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Until I get old enough to find out, like sometime
- 2:53Speaker 2: next year.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah. So so yeah, we're gonna we're gonna get into
- 2:58Speaker 1: this and we'll see how this coast it could be.
- 3:01Speaker 1: It could be great, all right. So, with with all
- 3:05Speaker 1: that in mind, check out the Patreon. We appreciate everybody
- 3:09Speaker 1: who's who's been helping us out. We have Facebook, Instagram,
- 3:16Speaker 1: what else, rate review.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Subscribe now, we got MySpace friends.
- 3:20Speaker 1: We don't have MySpace or friends to those are not?
- 3:25Speaker 1: Those are not?
- 3:26Speaker 2: You don't think they're still around?
- 3:27Speaker 1: No, oh, they're probably somewhere in the deep recesses of
- 3:30Speaker 1: the Internet. You can probably find your MySpace page from
- 3:33Speaker 1: back in the day when you used to put like
- 3:35Speaker 1: when people would go to it and have like a
- 3:36Speaker 1: song and and animations and you think that Tom was
- 3:43Speaker 1: your first friend, and oh Tom, Yeah, well I think
- 3:47Speaker 1: they're still out there. And where is he Now, we
- 3:53Speaker 1: don't know, Stu, we don't know. He's definitely poor.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Okay, well he's not a robot. We now that living
- 3:58Speaker 2: his life, he's great, right anyway?
- 4:02Speaker 1: All right, so yeah, check us out on all that
- 4:05Speaker 1: those things, and yeah, I post recipes like sometimes our
- 4:09Speaker 1: day to day life. Yeah, it's just whatever I feel
- 4:13Speaker 1: like recording that day. All right, let's go ahead and
- 4:16Speaker 1: get into So we're watching Oh, I guess I should
- 4:17Speaker 1: tell you guys, we're watching Scott Peterson face to face
- 4:21Speaker 1: on Peacock. That's the one we chose. There's another one
- 4:24Speaker 1: on Netflix, but we chose to go with this one
- 4:27Speaker 1: because it has that's got the interviews with Scott Peterson,
- 4:30Speaker 1: and it seemed like good opportunities to you know, make
- 4:33Speaker 1: fun of him.
- 4:34Speaker 2: So what I thought he was innocent?
- 4:37Speaker 1: No, that's Stewart.
- 4:39Speaker 2: We're gonna talk about that.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yes, we're gonna talk about all right. So let's get
- 4:43Speaker 1: into Scott Peterson and face to face. Let's do it,
- 4:47Speaker 1: which is ironic because they are neither face to face,
- 4:51Speaker 1: nor is there a lot of Scott Peterson in it.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It's they're zoom to zoom. They're using zoom.
- 4:57Speaker 2: He's in prison, and the lady video telephone.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Yes, and the lady is in her apartment and they
- 5:02Speaker 1: have to do this in fifteen minute increments that he
- 5:04Speaker 1: can only talk for fifteen minutes. So this is several
- 5:08Speaker 1: days of talking to Scott Peterson.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yes, and there's anybody behind him, they're gonna blur everything out.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Yeah. So the show opens up with Scott's sister in
- 5:17Speaker 1: law and hashtag number one fan, Janie. We have some
- 5:22Speaker 1: questions about Janie. We have her, yes, her, it's an
- 5:26Speaker 1: odd yeah. So she's she's looking at a photo book
- 5:30Speaker 1: of Scott and Lacy while audio from so it's like
- 5:33Speaker 1: all these happy, pleasant times from when they're you know,
- 5:37Speaker 1: getting married and meeting stuff. But over is the ominous
- 5:41Speaker 1: sound bites from the news cruise. It's like Lacy Peterson
- 5:45Speaker 1: missing eight months pregnant, Lacy Peterson has been charged with
- 5:50Speaker 1: murder of wife, a pregnant wife. So it's this ominous stuff.
- 5:53Speaker 1: And Janey's looking at.
- 5:55Speaker 2: All these these hatchy memories.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yes, and Jane. Yeah, Like we said, Jane, Jane's in
- 6:03Speaker 1: every documentary and she is the sister in law of
- 6:10Speaker 1: Lacy Peterson, but she's married to to Scott's or she's
- 6:14Speaker 1: the sister in law of Scott Peterson. So she's married
- 6:17Speaker 1: to Scott's older half brother who's older because Scott's the youngest,
- 6:23Speaker 1: and she's married to him. But what's weird though, is
- 6:26Speaker 1: that the brothers never on these documentaries like talking about
- 6:30Speaker 1: how Scott's innocent and all this stuff.
- 6:33Speaker 2: No, it's just Janey.
- 6:35Speaker 1: She's on every single one. She even quit her job
- 6:37Speaker 1: to become a lawyer to or something so she could
- 6:40Speaker 1: try to free him and stuff. It's a very odd
- 6:44Speaker 1: close relationship, almost as if she's infatuated with him or something.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Given him the conjugal most. You don't think, No, I
- 6:54Speaker 2: think she.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Just fantasized about him. It's it's weird. So then it
- 6:58Speaker 1: pans to Scott and he says that his goal he's
- 7:01Speaker 1: in prison. On the zoom, he looks pretty rough, he's he.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Is not pretty good for twenty years in prison.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Okay, maybe he definitely looks like a convict now as
- 7:10Speaker 1: opposed to whatever he went in. He definitely looks like
- 7:12Speaker 1: he belongs in prison. So his goal of this interview
- 7:16Speaker 1: is to tell the truth, and it's up to us
- 7:18Speaker 1: to accept it too. It's not he's telling the truth.
- 7:21Speaker 2: The truth.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Yes, it's up to us though, as a as a group,
- 7:24Speaker 1: as a as a public, to accept the truth. We're
- 7:27Speaker 1: not accepting of his truth. So of course they have
- 7:31Speaker 1: to flash to Nancy Grace and she's talking about because
- 7:35Speaker 1: one of the big things about this documentary is that
- 7:37Speaker 1: the Innocence Project has the La Innocent Innocence Project has
- 7:41Speaker 1: taken up his case, which.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Well, Nancy Grace's career probably launched on this anyway, her.
- 7:46Speaker 1: And him in Casey Anthony remember what did he call him?
- 7:52Speaker 1: Something taught something top mom or something like that. Anyways,
- 7:59Speaker 1: so she's talking about that she couldn't even believe in
- 8:01Speaker 1: a million years that Scott Peterson would be part of
- 8:04Speaker 1: the La Innocence Project. So I don't know if he's
- 8:08Speaker 1: really I have I don't know if it's one of
- 8:11Speaker 1: those things his case is so popular, is there really
- 8:13Speaker 1: any new evidence that people believe it, or is it
- 8:16Speaker 1: just like he's got a bunch of groupies that are
- 8:18Speaker 1: trying to get him out because they've become obsessed with
- 8:21Speaker 1: him over.
- 8:21Speaker 2: The kind of like all these people that freed Brittany
- 8:23Speaker 2: and then they're like, oh, maybe we shouldn't have done that.
- 8:25Speaker 2: She was needed a conservatorship.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Mistakes were made, Okay, we can't get them all right.
- 8:32Speaker 2: So they're try you were a free Brittain. I was.
- 8:34Speaker 2: I thought she needed it.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Then after a while it's like maybe she needed someone
- 8:38Speaker 1: other than her father to be the I think he
- 8:40Speaker 1: wasn't doing a good job, but maybe she needed.
- 8:43Speaker 2: A well, she wasn't getting in trouble.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Yeah, this is true. So they're they're taking up his
- 8:49Speaker 1: case to try to argue that Lacey was killed by
- 8:51Speaker 1: burglars rather than Scott. So we're at we flashed in
- 8:55Speaker 1: March twelve, twenty twenty four, and Scott's went in front
- 8:58Speaker 1: of the courts via zoom and they put the little
- 9:01Speaker 1: cursor right over his nose. Yeah, and I felt that
- 9:06Speaker 1: was intentional by the courts. I didn't think that was
- 9:09Speaker 1: an accident. It's like literally just covering the cursor from
- 9:12Speaker 1: his nose, so it's so distracting you can't even pay
- 9:15Speaker 1: attention to him. I thought that was someone who was like,
- 9:18Speaker 1: fuck this guy. So they have various people they paned
- 9:22Speaker 1: to like or they go out to various people talking
- 9:24Speaker 1: about Scott and how he is possibly innocent. And then
- 9:28Speaker 1: we move on to a journalist who is going to
- 9:31Speaker 1: interview him, and her name is Sharene. She's the one
- 9:33Speaker 1: put in this documentary together.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Yeah she seems like a groupie as well.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yeah she does. She talks about how she initially thought
- 9:40Speaker 1: that he was probably guilty, but as she looked at
- 9:43Speaker 1: the evidence, she felt that there was a lot of
- 9:45Speaker 1: questions and that it was mainly circumstantial, which she might
- 9:48Speaker 1: be right now. It was revealed that Shreen contacted the
- 9:50Speaker 1: family back in twenty thirteen to do an interview, but
- 9:53Speaker 1: they decline. However, someone for someone, someone we're all assuming
- 9:59Speaker 1: Janie decided was interested in at least talking to her.
- 10:04Speaker 1: So Janie, I guess, struck up a re or like
- 10:06Speaker 1: a form or relate, you know, speaking relationship with her.
- 10:11Speaker 1: And that's when we go to Janey again, because that's
- 10:13Speaker 1: who we're assuming talk to her, and she's she's back
- 10:19Speaker 1: saying how she wanted. You know, Scott hasn't spoken anybody
- 10:23Speaker 1: in twenty plus years or since he before he went
- 10:26Speaker 1: to prison and everything like that. So we moved on
- 10:29Speaker 1: to Scott in prison. She starts off by asking, you know,
- 10:32Speaker 1: why would anybody want to hear from you? And he
- 10:34Speaker 1: says it's to get some of the burden off of
- 10:36Speaker 1: his family, Jane. So Jane kept bothering me. So I
- 10:41Speaker 1: finally did this and then and that you don't have
- 10:45Speaker 1: to trust him, but you need to look at the evidence.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Well, I mean, they are correct that a lot of
- 10:52Speaker 2: us saw circumstantial.
- 10:53Speaker 1: It is, but it's strong circumstances.
- 10:55Speaker 2: No physical evidence that actually ties him to it.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's very strong circumstantial evidence. Yes, and he's
- 11:02Speaker 1: sketchy as fuck and he's.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Nice cast line many times yes about things.
- 11:07Speaker 1: So now after we've kind of done that intro with
- 11:09Speaker 1: like his main supporters, which is Janie, and I guess
- 11:12Speaker 1: the interviewer, Sharene again looks like she, you know, signed
- 11:16Speaker 1: onto the prison groupie group and she's she was probably
- 11:20Speaker 1: a pen pal pen pals, you know, she's.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Putting money in a commissary.
- 11:25Speaker 1: That's what that's the vibe I get from her. So
- 11:28Speaker 1: we rewind to Christmas Eve two thousand and two. So
- 11:32Speaker 1: this is back before or when Lacey first went missing,
- 11:35Speaker 1: and it's a voice over of Lacey's mother, Sharon Roacha,
- 11:38Speaker 1: and she is walking through the timeline of Lacey going missing,
- 11:43Speaker 1: and it's this is footage of the Today's show as well.
- 11:46Speaker 1: And it's with Lacey's brother, and so she says that
- 11:50Speaker 1: she last spoke to Lacey on eight thirty Monday night,
- 11:54Speaker 1: December twenty third. Now, if you'll recall, she went missing
- 11:57Speaker 1: December twenty fourth, so that's the last time she spoke
- 11:59Speaker 1: to her. They were supposed to come over at Christmas
- 12:02Speaker 1: Eve dinner the next day and everything seemed normal. She
- 12:05Speaker 1: said she didn't hear anything about them arguing or any
- 12:09Speaker 1: problems or anything like that. So the next day, Jane
- 12:14Speaker 1: or not Janey fuck. The next day, Sharon is Lacey's mom.
- 12:20Speaker 1: She hears from Scott and he's asking if Lacey's over there,
- 12:23Speaker 1: and he says she's missing, and she's like, what do
- 12:25Speaker 1: you mean she's missing? She's like, no, I haven't seen her.
- 12:28Speaker 1: So they talk talk about calling her friends and family,
- 12:31Speaker 1: but no one has seen her. So we go back
- 12:33Speaker 1: to Jane. So we're painting back to Janey and the thing,
- 12:36Speaker 1: and she just tears up talking about and she's like
- 12:38Speaker 1: my sister in law, and I'd be so pissed off.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I was the family and this bitch was like my
- 12:43Speaker 1: sister in law.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I was the mom, Miss Roca Roacha whatever, I'd
- 12:47Speaker 2: reach through that screen and just strangle her.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Probably, yeah, telling talking about my sister in law, and
- 12:52Speaker 1: and and like making Lacey like personal. Yeah, it's just
- 12:57Speaker 1: it's I would be so mad.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Yes, every time I hear her name, she reminds me
- 13:02Speaker 2: of the girl from there Elsemith song.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Janie's got a gun, Janie's got a.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Crush, Janie's got a crush for her.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I'd like to know Jane and her husband are still together.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I have questions about Janie's life.
- 13:13Speaker 2: I'd like to do.
- 13:15Speaker 1: We need to do an interview on Janie. So she's
- 13:18Speaker 1: tearing up. She's talking about how her husband was getting
- 13:20Speaker 1: a call from Scott and that he headed straight over
- 13:22Speaker 1: there to help him help him look for Lacey. And
- 13:25Speaker 1: then people are called to the home and it was
- 13:28Speaker 1: Lacey's stepfather that actually had contacted police about his missing daughter.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I thought it was Scott that contacted him, but whenever
- 13:35Speaker 1: they played the phone call, it's it's the stepfather was
- 13:38Speaker 1: the first one to call and say we can't find her.
- 13:42Speaker 1: So once police arrive, I guess they immediately see this
- 13:45Speaker 1: as like a serious situation because even if nothing bad
- 13:48Speaker 1: happened to her, like from a person doing something to
- 13:51Speaker 1: her if she's eight months pregnant, she went out for
- 13:53Speaker 1: a walk by herself, she could have passed out, she
- 13:55Speaker 1: could have went into labor. Something could have happened. Yeah,
- 13:59Speaker 1: we don't know. Some thing could have happened.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Mountain lion.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think that's what a mountain lion
- 14:07Speaker 1: in Modesto.
- 14:09Speaker 2: I'm sure they got Bob Kat's mountain lion somewhere, possibly
- 14:12Speaker 2: roaming down a.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Rabid pitbull from next door.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I don't know, what did you do? Not anymore, you've
- 14:18Speaker 2: got it shipped California, a farm in California. Yep.
- 14:22Speaker 1: And so anyway, so they need to take this seriously
- 14:26Speaker 1: right away. So a detective is called in and his
- 14:28Speaker 1: name is al Berlini and this is Christmas Eve. So
- 14:31Speaker 1: he talked about how he's away with his family about
- 14:33Speaker 1: an hour and a half away, but he all his
- 14:35Speaker 1: kids are older, and so he's like, hey, I'll take
- 14:38Speaker 1: one for the team. All come in here. Little did
- 14:40Speaker 1: he know, Well.
- 14:41Speaker 2: He said, if they're calling me, shit is gone south.
- 14:43Speaker 2: But I'm bad has happened on a Christmas Eve? If
- 14:45Speaker 2: they're calling me out.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Well that's what he was saying. They need a detective
- 14:48Speaker 1: and he was the only one with like older kids
- 14:50Speaker 1: that was in the area that it wouldn't be like
- 14:52Speaker 1: so tragic to miss Christmas. But little did know. Little
- 14:56Speaker 1: did Al know is that he would be roped into
- 14:58Speaker 1: something that he would still I'll be talking about twenty plus.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Years later, still making a dollar. Now, I guess he would.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I don't know if they pay him for this. They should.
- 15:08Speaker 1: They're making a ton of money off of it.
- 15:10Speaker 2: They should.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Yeah, So, I mean, that's crazy. He just went to
- 15:13Speaker 1: this call and then now all these police detectives and
- 15:16Speaker 1: everything are I mean, it's still just so well.
- 15:18Speaker 2: I thought, like anybody that worked OJ or Casey Anthony,
- 15:20Speaker 2: they're all going to.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Be I feel like OJ you kind of knew. But
- 15:23Speaker 1: Casey Anthony, Lacy Peterson, you wouldn't have. I don't think
- 15:28Speaker 1: you would have.
- 15:29Speaker 2: No one that you're gonna be famous twenty years later.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Yeah, So he's at So he drives the ninety miles
- 15:37Speaker 1: and he tells officers to lock up the house and
- 15:40Speaker 1: not let let anyone in until he gets there, to
- 15:42Speaker 1: try to secure like the scene in case it is
- 15:44Speaker 1: a crime scene. He pulls up and there are several
- 15:46Speaker 1: people searching for Lacey that even had a helicopter at
- 15:49Speaker 1: this point, as well as dogs looking for her. One
- 15:53Speaker 1: was known to be a rabid pit.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Bull then got evicted from Midland.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Yes, everyone seemed to note that Scott was super laid back,
- 16:02Speaker 1: super nonchalant about this, just very calm, which is you know,
- 16:06Speaker 1: you can't really judge somebody right off the back because
- 16:08Speaker 1: you don't know how they respond to an emergency situation.
- 16:12Speaker 1: You know, even people that are most trained, they could
- 16:14Speaker 1: their personality could not be able to handle it, or
- 16:16Speaker 1: they could go into kind of seclusion and maybe be
- 16:19Speaker 1: more denial.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, like this didn't really happen.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Mm hmm yep. So I feel every day.
- 16:28Speaker 2: About I didn't get married.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Now sometimes I do look around and and we had
- 16:34Speaker 1: children so rapidly. It almost feels like an out of
- 16:37Speaker 1: body experience occasionally when they're all three lined up or
- 16:41Speaker 1: something and you're just looking around and you're like, what
- 16:45Speaker 1: the fuck, how did this happen? Like I don't understand
- 16:48Speaker 1: what happened because London, Yeah, it really was. We had
- 16:53Speaker 1: we've had children so rapidly. I was talking to someone
- 16:57Speaker 1: that didn't that work. It was like he was a
- 16:59Speaker 1: new employee and he was talking to me, and I
- 17:01Speaker 1: was telling you about you know, what I did, what
- 17:03Speaker 1: I did before I got I was moved to this
- 17:05Speaker 1: role in the company, and and how I had these
- 17:08Speaker 1: shown and he's like wow, He's like your change, your
- 17:10Speaker 1: life has really changed in the last four years. And
- 17:13Speaker 1: I just really started thinking about I was like, man,
- 17:16Speaker 1: he's right.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Anyways, So, yeah, four years ago, you were in Africa
- 17:20Speaker 2: or something.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Wasn't I was in Africa four years ago, Stu. I
- 17:25Speaker 1: was in Africa. Yes, I used to work occasionally in Africa. Everybody,
- 17:31Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure I have a husband over there.
- 17:33Speaker 2: But that's I think you do.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Yeah, when I was, when I was leaving this, he
- 17:39Speaker 1: gave me this break So this guy that was that
- 17:41Speaker 1: was a local. He was very insistent that he gave
- 17:45Speaker 1: me this bracelet. But he was very insistent that I
- 17:48Speaker 1: couldn't just take it. He had to like put it
- 17:50Speaker 1: on my left wrist himself. So that's why a joke
- 17:55Speaker 1: was tou that I have a husband in in Africa.
- 18:00Speaker 2: So I don't even know if what's the joke anymore.
- 18:01Speaker 1: I know, I don't know, Stu. We could be he's
- 18:04Speaker 1: waiting for me to come back.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Well, you do go missing for hours during the day.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I just fly casually over to Africa to
- 18:11Speaker 1: see my other husband.
- 18:12Speaker 2: And then well might you might have flown him here.
- 18:14Speaker 2: You might be in his apartment that you're paying for here,
- 18:16Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 18:16Speaker 1: He's okay, you've gone too far with this.
- 18:18Speaker 2: This is wow.
- 18:19Speaker 1: This is what we do. What happens is we sit
- 18:21Speaker 1: there and take a thing and then we go too
- 18:22Speaker 1: far and the next thing, you know, one of us
- 18:24Speaker 1: is mad. And by one of us I mean me, yes,
- 18:26Speaker 1: So Scott seems unaffected. He mentions nothing of a break
- 18:30Speaker 1: in or any suspicious activity in or around the home.
- 18:33Speaker 1: The detective noticed that he has these outdoor umbrellas wrapped
- 18:37Speaker 1: in blue tarps in the back of his truck, so
- 18:39Speaker 1: they asked him about this, and he says he was
- 18:42Speaker 1: preparing them to be stored in the shop for the winner.
- 18:44Speaker 1: So it's he's big. He's got they got a nice
- 18:46Speaker 1: pull out back and they got them big old umbrellas.
- 18:49Speaker 1: They also noted that the rags on top of the
- 18:51Speaker 1: warsher that seemed out of place, Like the house is
- 18:54Speaker 1: pretty clean and everything, and then there's these these dirty
- 18:57Speaker 1: rags just laying on top of the washroom. So Scott
- 18:59Speaker 1: told detective is that when he was out fishing, which
- 19:02Speaker 1: was that morning, it began to rain. So when he
- 19:04Speaker 1: got home, he took the rags out of the wash
- 19:07Speaker 1: the washer and put his clothes in. So that seems
- 19:11Speaker 1: odd to me, like you would remove you had some
- 19:15Speaker 1: wet clothes. I guess you removed them and instead of
- 19:19Speaker 1: like washing the rags or just setting the clothes aside,
- 19:21Speaker 1: you actually take out dirty rags and set them on
- 19:23Speaker 1: top of the washing machine.
- 19:25Speaker 2: And then wash your clothes.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Is it gonna wear them again later that day?
- 19:28Speaker 1: No, Oh, seems weird to me. That seems weird to me. Normally,
- 19:31Speaker 1: once you the clothes are in the washer, whether they've
- 19:33Speaker 1: been started or not, you just progress.
- 19:34Speaker 2: With that load unless you actually need the clothes.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Yeah, unless it's an emergency you're like, oh my god,
- 19:38Speaker 1: I'm having to take these clothes.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Out of the washer because I need to wear these
- 19:41Speaker 2: clothes and I need to wash them now, quick wash,
- 19:43Speaker 2: quick dry.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Yeah, he could have just thrown his wet clothes right
- 19:45Speaker 1: there in the laundry room and then washed the rags
- 19:47Speaker 1: real quick and then done his clothes. It wasn't any
- 19:49Speaker 1: type of emergency situation.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Sounds like somebody was not thinking because then he didn't
- 19:54Speaker 2: wash the rags afterward.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Yeah, you should have washed them.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Or put them in a laundry basket.
- 19:58Speaker 1: So the detect have looked in him. Yeah, because it
- 20:01Speaker 1: also looked like he was in a hurry because he
- 20:03Speaker 1: just like scattered on him on top of the washer.
- 20:05Speaker 1: He didn't take the time to put him back in
- 20:07Speaker 1: the laundry basket. So the detectives they look in his
- 20:11Speaker 1: truck and they noticed that his jacket was in there,
- 20:13Speaker 1: but it was not wet or damp stew. It was
- 20:16Speaker 1: completely dry. So now they're saying, they're thinking, Okay, they
- 20:19Speaker 1: didn't ask him. I don't think they.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Just didn't he wear the coat fishing?
- 20:23Speaker 1: Well, that's what they don't know. That's just what you
- 20:26Speaker 1: would think though. If it was raining and you had
- 20:28Speaker 1: a jacket in the.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Car, maybe you forgot your jacket when you got in
- 20:31Speaker 2: a boat.
- 20:31Speaker 1: In the ring, gotcha, Well, wouldn't you put it on
- 20:33Speaker 1: with when you got out of the car or when
- 20:35Speaker 1: you got to the cars you were cold?
- 20:37Speaker 2: Turn on the head.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Okay, whatever, Okay, you're a you're a Scott Peterson explainer. Away, Okay,
- 20:43Speaker 1: it's it's not solid evidence, but it's there. It looks
- 20:45Speaker 1: a little strange. The rags and everything look a little.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Washer looks stranger than the dry coat.
- 20:51Speaker 1: So the detective, so Detective al said, nothing was making sense.
- 20:55Speaker 1: He seemed to be making excuses for any type of
- 20:57Speaker 1: evidence they may find, like he had a reason before
- 21:00Speaker 1: they even ask Yes, always thinking ahead. So now we
- 21:07Speaker 1: in the documentary were moving on to this attorney legal
- 21:10Speaker 1: analyst and his name is Chris Pixley, and he looks
- 21:14Speaker 1: like he's had quite a bit of plastic surgery. He
- 21:18Speaker 1: must be an LA attorney legal analysts.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Trying to act in this moonlighting time.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Yes, got to pay for this TV. So he talks
- 21:28Speaker 1: about how they were already suspicious of Scott from the jump,
- 21:32Speaker 1: but they had no signs of a violent crime, no
- 21:34Speaker 1: defensive wounds, and no witnesses. They had nothing. But already
- 21:38Speaker 1: they they were going at Scott from the from day one.
- 21:42Speaker 1: When they go back to Scott and so this is
- 21:44Speaker 1: fast rewinding back to two thousand and two. They go
- 21:47Speaker 1: back to Scott and he claims that detective, Oh, I'm sorry,
- 21:51Speaker 1: we don't go back to two to two present day.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I told you this is going to be a mess. Anyways, Yeah,
- 21:57Speaker 1: present day, they jumped around a lot. Okay, sorry, blame
- 22:00Speaker 1: the documentary. So they go back to Scott in prison
- 22:03Speaker 1: and he claims that Detective al Brokini said, we know
- 22:08Speaker 1: what is going on here. It is the husband and
- 22:11Speaker 1: but he didn't know Scott was standing there. But Scott
- 22:13Speaker 1: says that this is a he said he said. Scott
- 22:16Speaker 1: said he said that, So we don't know if that's
- 22:18Speaker 1: true or not. We see, the problem is, once you're
- 22:21Speaker 1: a liar, we can't trust anything you say. Once you've
- 22:24Speaker 1: proven yourself to be a pathological liar, that nothing you
- 22:28Speaker 1: say we have to question, you know. So Scott is
- 22:32Speaker 1: brought to the police state. This is back in two
- 22:34Speaker 1: thousand and two. Scott is brought to the police station
- 22:36Speaker 1: at midnight on Christmas Day and Detective Brokini interviews him. Now,
- 22:41Speaker 1: Scott in his interview says that they were not questions,
- 22:45Speaker 1: they were more like accusations, and the detective said he
- 22:48Speaker 1: was just trying to rule him out. So he said,
- 22:50Speaker 1: I'm just trying to help young Okay, I need to
- 22:51Speaker 1: rule you out so I can move on to other things.
- 22:54Speaker 1: But Scott is sitting there in his interview, and he's
- 22:56Speaker 1: just chill. He's leaned back.
- 22:59Speaker 2: He took a zan went.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Yeah, he's just like laid, not frantic about his Like
- 23:06Speaker 1: it's not just his wife missing like he was. She
- 23:07Speaker 1: was eight months pregnant. That baby could have came out
- 23:10Speaker 1: that day and been fine, you know, like survived or whatever.
- 23:14Speaker 1: It was a full grown baby. And he's over there
- 23:16Speaker 1: just nothing. All right, Stu has corrected me. I initially
- 23:22Speaker 1: said al Brolini, correcttten, Okay, I wrote al Brolini. No,
- 23:28Speaker 1: but then I then I also wrote al Brocchini. So
- 23:31Speaker 1: his name is al Brokini, not al Brolini. I'ms Alberlini.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Alborcini sounds like a Italian plate.
- 23:44Speaker 1: It's like, so al Brokini. We're just gonna call him
- 23:49Speaker 1: detective al for now, one al Bundy. So now we
- 23:53Speaker 1: see footage of Scott and Lacy back in July two
- 23:56Speaker 1: thousand and two, so this is prior to the murder,
- 23:59Speaker 1: and they're talking about Everybody loved Scott. They thought they
- 24:01Speaker 1: were the perfect couple. Lacy's family and friends talked about
- 24:04Speaker 1: how great Scott was at the beginning. He was just
- 24:06Speaker 1: a gentleman, a perfect guy. They could not think of
- 24:09Speaker 1: a more perfect person for their daughter. They met in
- 24:12Speaker 1: college and everything just seemed to be great. Even leading
- 24:17Speaker 1: up to her going missing. Nobody said anything. Nobody's like
- 24:20Speaker 1: finally come out like, oh yeah, she used to tell
- 24:22Speaker 1: me she was scared of him, or she used to
- 24:24Speaker 1: you know, complain about him or anything. Nothing like that.
- 24:27Speaker 1: They were happy if I miss him first. Yeah, nothing
- 24:30Speaker 1: was ever said like that.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean so like if I were to go
- 24:34Speaker 2: missing and I said, look at Caara first, Stuart, what,
- 24:41Speaker 2: I'm just putting it out there. Okay, well, you know,
- 24:44Speaker 2: as an example, as an example, not not that you
- 24:46Speaker 2: would do anything.
- 24:47Speaker 1: If I go missing, look at you first, jack ass.
- 24:54Speaker 1: All right, so we're back to We're back to Scott
- 24:58Speaker 1: in the interview room, back into two thousand and two,
- 25:01Speaker 1: and he is walking the detective through that morning again.
- 25:04Speaker 1: He's very relaxed, lean back back in his chair. He
- 25:08Speaker 1: said he got up around eight o'clock that morning. He
- 25:10Speaker 1: said Lacey was mopping and that, and the detective asked
- 25:13Speaker 1: why she was mopping on a Tuesday, and Scott said,
- 25:15Speaker 1: what that was just what she did. I'm not really
- 25:17Speaker 1: sure why mopping on a tuesday. It's a weird thing.
- 25:21Speaker 2: No, I don't know what's up with this to take him.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Why whenn't she mopping on a Monday. Everybody knows Monday's
- 25:26Speaker 2: mop day. They both have m's in them.
- 25:29Speaker 1: It's like Christmas Eve too, So she's probably just getting
- 25:31Speaker 1: you know, like you do stuff like that.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm the weird person that tries to clean my
- 25:35Speaker 2: house from top to bottom before I go on vacation
- 25:37Speaker 2: for some reason.
- 25:38Speaker 1: That's not weird. Everybody does that.
- 25:40Speaker 2: It's still weird. Why would you do it?
- 25:41Speaker 1: No, it's not weird. Everybody does it because you want
- 25:43Speaker 1: to come back to a clean house. You're not weird,
- 25:45Speaker 1: You're just normal.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Go overboard when I know.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Here's let me tell you what the problem is with Stewart. Okay,
- 25:51Speaker 1: let me get you. Let me let you guys know what.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I get frustrated. Let's just tell so we have so
- 25:57Speaker 1: we'll just be like cleaning something and we might need
- 26:00Speaker 1: to do just a general I just need a general clean.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I just need the floors cleaned quickly. The counter is clean,
- 26:05Speaker 1: nothing deep clean or anything. The problem with Stu is
- 26:07Speaker 1: he doesn't know how to do that. All he knows
- 26:09Speaker 1: how to do is all of a sudden you ask
- 26:11Speaker 1: him to start cleaning. Next thing you know, he's pulling
- 26:13Speaker 1: everything out and deep cleaning whatever portion of the house.
- 26:17Speaker 1: And I in the amount of time he could do that,
- 26:19Speaker 1: we could have cleaned, like generally cleaned the whole house.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Is it gonna be perfect, No, but it's gonna be
- 26:23Speaker 1: a lot cleaner than it was. But Stu zooms in
- 26:27Speaker 1: on something, focuses in and then that's it. I lost him.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Well, maybe if you wouldn't dump flour all over the
- 26:33Speaker 2: front of the cabinets, I wouldn't have to deep clean
- 26:35Speaker 2: the cabinets.
- 26:36Speaker 1: It's not about no, Stuart, that's not even You could
- 26:38Speaker 1: just generally wipe down, wipe down the flower and then
- 26:42Speaker 1: move on.
- 26:43Speaker 2: You gotta get the liquid gold out.
- 26:45Speaker 1: And wipe I see, this is what I'm talking about.
- 26:48Speaker 2: You can't just have one clean.
- 26:49Speaker 1: You know, it'd be fine if it was a system,
- 26:51Speaker 1: but this is just random deep cleaning. We're not on
- 26:53Speaker 1: a system where he's we were on a system clean
- 26:57Speaker 1: the house on Thursdays.
- 26:59Speaker 2: We have three work house on Thursday.
- 27:02Speaker 1: But life is chaotic, so they're asking He's like, why
- 27:06Speaker 1: is she mopping on a Tuesday? Because there was a
- 27:09Speaker 1: mop out back, and that's why they were questioning about
- 27:12Speaker 1: this mop it imply impossibly he's cleaning clean. Yeah, he
- 27:18Speaker 1: tells police that they were watching her favorite show, Martha Stewart,
- 27:21Speaker 1: and that Martha was he was able to say that
- 27:24Speaker 1: she was making meringe Now. I felt a lot of
- 27:26Speaker 1: people are a lot of the people that were on
- 27:28Speaker 1: his side felt like this was a good thing to
- 27:31Speaker 1: prove that he was telling the truth. However, to me,
- 27:35Speaker 1: it felt like what Stu would never remember what the
- 27:39Speaker 1: Barefoot Contessa was making on TV. Were watching together. But
- 27:43Speaker 1: if he was going to like kill me, he'd be like,
- 27:44Speaker 1: let me make notes she's making a lemon poppy seed cake.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Because he's like, I don't know she was making meringue.
- 27:53Speaker 1: He just said it like it was like he knew
- 27:57Speaker 1: too much, you know. Yeah, I guess he can't do
- 27:59Speaker 1: any right now.
- 28:00Speaker 2: I mean, they'd catch me because they'd be like, oh,
- 28:02Speaker 2: you like The Barefoot Contessa. I'd be like, no, what,
- 28:06Speaker 2: I don't like that show?
- 28:08Speaker 1: But we were, but you would. He doesn't say he
- 28:10Speaker 1: likes Martha. He's just saying that that's what we're watching.
- 28:14Speaker 1: So when I make you watch The Barefoot Contessa and
- 28:17Speaker 1: you don't like it and.
- 28:18Speaker 2: I don't pay attention. Yeah, or if I do, I
- 28:22Speaker 2: wouldn't be able to remember.
- 28:23Speaker 1: But no. But what I'm saying though, is if you
- 28:24Speaker 1: were going to kill me, you would you'd be like,
- 28:26Speaker 1: let me take notes so I can say, oh, we
- 28:27Speaker 1: are watching The Barefoot Contessa where they were making it
- 28:30Speaker 1: a regular salad or something, so it seems seemed fishy
- 28:35Speaker 1: to me.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Now.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Meanwhile, they flashed to Scott in prison and he said
- 28:38Speaker 1: that he was just trying to keep it together. That's
- 28:39Speaker 1: why he was all calm, trying to get the search together.
- 28:42Speaker 1: He said that he did not have the time to
- 28:44Speaker 1: fall apart. Now, the detective then mentions, am I understand that,
- 28:49Speaker 1: Like you're trying to keep together, but everybody, if you're
- 28:51Speaker 1: trying to hold it together, at some point you break
- 28:53Speaker 1: when someone asks you the right question or something like.
- 28:56Speaker 1: You can be trying to hold it together if someone
- 28:58Speaker 1: you know and your family passed the way and you're like, Okay,
- 29:01Speaker 1: I got to keep it together. We got to get
- 29:02Speaker 1: through the funeral. But then it takes just one person
- 29:04Speaker 1: asking you the wrong question, like a question, it just
- 29:07Speaker 1: triggers and all that stuff you've been holding in just
- 29:09Speaker 1: like comes out. He never had that kind of breakdown. Now,
- 29:15Speaker 1: the detectives mention that Scott kept mentioning Lacey in the
- 29:18Speaker 1: past tense. He was saying she was a lot, which
- 29:21Speaker 1: they thought was weird, and he never mentioned this to Scott.
- 29:25Speaker 1: It was just something that he noticed and he was like, yeah,
- 29:27Speaker 1: she was, she was whatever she was really into. She
- 29:32Speaker 1: was really like in past tense, not she is.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Yeah. And also during the interview, Scott's telling the detective
- 29:38Speaker 2: that at around ten am he's gonna leave the house
- 29:44Speaker 2: after they watch Martha Stewart making the little meringues and
- 29:47Speaker 2: all the little lovey dovey stuff that they do at
- 29:49Speaker 2: the house or whatever whatever he's saying has happened, And
- 29:52Speaker 2: according to the documentary, at ten oh eight, he's on
- 29:56Speaker 2: the way to the warehouse.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Okay, so we had to pause for a second as
- 29:59Speaker 1: you could hear there was a a large airplane going.
- 30:03Speaker 2: So we live it's air show weekend here in Midland.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Okay, So anyways, we live near the airport, but not
- 30:09Speaker 1: near enough for it to be super annoying, you know,
- 30:12Speaker 1: like we don't live directly under the airport. It's nice
- 30:15Speaker 1: enough that our daughter she loves plane, so she can
- 30:17Speaker 1: see the planes, and she thinks every one of them
- 30:19Speaker 1: because we said, oh, we're going to go on a
- 30:20Speaker 1: plane and go see Mickey Mini, So she thinks everybody
- 30:22Speaker 1: that's on a plane up in the air is going
- 30:24Speaker 1: to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse. So it's it's close
- 30:27Speaker 1: enough the airport that it's not or it's far enough
- 30:29Speaker 1: away the airport that it's not annoying, but close enough
- 30:32Speaker 1: where we can actually see the planes. However, there is
- 30:34Speaker 1: an air show and it's so they're flying these military
- 30:37Speaker 1: type planes and they're very loud, yeah, and they're like
- 30:41Speaker 1: information and stuff. And then sometimes though they do fly
- 30:45Speaker 1: these big ass military there is a in San Angelo.
- 30:48Speaker 1: There's an air Force base, so they practice like coming
- 30:51Speaker 1: in and out of Midland. I guess between the two,
- 30:54Speaker 1: and they'll fly those planes and they're big and they're
- 30:56Speaker 1: so low like it feels it feels like the house
- 31:00Speaker 1: is gonna one.
- 31:03Speaker 2: That sounded like I was gonna come through the front door.
- 31:05Speaker 1: The other day, Yeah, that one, that one was. And
- 31:07Speaker 1: so the other day they flew three of them. A
- 31:09Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago, there was three in a row,
- 31:11Speaker 1: and we me and the kids were out walking or whatever,
- 31:14Speaker 1: and we look up in that airplane. We were watching
- 31:16Speaker 1: it and it was like it was low coming and
- 31:18Speaker 1: they were freaking out, but they were They liked it.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Yeah, they're supposed to fly in a ten I don't
- 31:22Speaker 2: know if it's today or tomorrow.
- 31:24Speaker 1: We're going to try to go to the air stow anyway,
- 31:26Speaker 1: so we're back. We had to go pause. So we
- 31:29Speaker 1: took our daughter out to go look at the airplanes.
- 31:32Speaker 1: And now we're back and Scott Peterson's home and headed
- 31:36Speaker 1: to the warehouse at ten o eight am.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Because that morning he didn't know what he was going
- 31:42Speaker 2: to do with himself on Christmas Eve morning. He didn't
- 31:45Speaker 2: know he was going to go golfing or go fishing.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Well, Stu, this was a they were still in the
- 31:51Speaker 1: they didn't have a child yet, they were she was pregnant,
- 31:53Speaker 1: so that you had that kind of freedom. You're just
- 31:55Speaker 1: gonna what did whatever you wanted for the day.
- 31:59Speaker 2: I don't normally have a plan. If I'm going to
- 32:01Speaker 2: do something that specific, Well, yeah I'm going to go golfing,
- 32:05Speaker 2: I gotta get all my shit together or I'm gonna
- 32:07Speaker 2: go fishing. So I need to have all my shit together.
- 32:08Speaker 2: To go fishing the next day.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Not. I don't know if I'm going to go to
- 32:12Speaker 2: the park or if I'm going to go to the movie,
- 32:15Speaker 2: which can be a whim spur of the moment decision.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Yes, fishing and golfing are two more I would say
- 32:23Speaker 1: dedicated activities. You need to be prepared to go do those.
- 32:27Speaker 2: I guess if your stuff is always in one spot
- 32:29Speaker 2: and it's always ready to go, you could make an
- 32:31Speaker 2: audible that morning which he did, which he decided was fishing.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Yeah, he said it was too cold to go golfing
- 32:39Speaker 1: that morning, but fishing it was not too cold.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Fishing nine miles away in the bay versus a reservoir
- 32:46Speaker 2: which would be closer to the house is fine compared
- 32:49Speaker 2: to golfing.
- 32:51Speaker 1: That sentence you didn't said just didn't make sense because
- 32:54Speaker 1: they didn't just watch the episode. The detective was saying
- 32:59Speaker 1: that he so we haven't even gotten into that. So
- 33:02Speaker 1: he decides to go and go fish. And he had
- 33:07Speaker 1: just bought this boat on December ninth, two thousand and two,
- 33:09Speaker 1: so just two weeks before Lacey was murdered, and he'd
- 33:12Speaker 1: also got hit. So this is supposed to be a
- 33:14Speaker 1: spur of the moment, I decided to go fishing that morning.
- 33:17Speaker 1: But he had a fishing license he produced that was
- 33:20Speaker 1: dated for twelve twenty that he got on the twenty third,
- 33:22Speaker 1: which was the day before.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Well, it was valid for the twenty third.
- 33:25Speaker 1: No, and he got it on the twenty third.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Oh, I got it on the third.
- 33:29Speaker 1: He got on the twenty third, that was valid for
- 33:30Speaker 1: the twenty third and the twenty fourth. And he but
- 33:35Speaker 1: he says, like we said, he said it was a
- 33:37Speaker 1: last minute decision. So it doesn't seem that last minute
- 33:40Speaker 1: unless he should have said if it really was something
- 33:43Speaker 1: he was like, I didn't know if I want to
- 33:44Speaker 1: go golfing or fishing, so I got me a fishing
- 33:46Speaker 1: license just in case. That's what he should have said, not, Oh,
- 33:49Speaker 1: it was a last minute decision. I decided to go
- 33:50Speaker 1: fishing because it was cold.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm not sure how expensive licenses were back then,
- 33:54Speaker 2: but there they are, like five or ten dollars nowadays
- 33:57Speaker 2: for a day or two day fishing or something.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, it's not about the expense, but it's
- 34:01Speaker 1: just he should he should have said, I was preparing
- 34:04Speaker 1: to do either one, depending on how I felt that
- 34:06Speaker 1: morning or how the weather was yes, So he ends
- 34:09Speaker 1: up driving this what Stew's talking about. So he drives
- 34:12Speaker 1: from Modesto to Berkeley Marino, which is ninety miles away,
- 34:16Speaker 1: and this seems odd to detectives because they're like, why
- 34:21Speaker 1: would you He said, he just wanted to get the
- 34:23Speaker 1: boat in the water, So why would you drive to
- 34:26Speaker 1: this specific marina ninety miles away when apparently there was
- 34:29Speaker 1: ten reservoirs or a bunch of reservoirs within ten miles
- 34:33Speaker 1: of Modesto that he could have got the boat wet
- 34:35Speaker 1: that day? What is he getting wet that day?
- 34:40Speaker 2: Oh, I'll tell you what he was getting wet later. Yeah.
- 34:44Speaker 1: But so yeah, so supposedly he so or actually it's
- 34:48Speaker 1: it is. They will say everything that he's doing, the
- 34:50Speaker 1: times that he's saying are true. They're all documented with
- 34:53Speaker 1: his phone, and he has receipts and everything. So he
- 34:56Speaker 1: heads to that boat ramp and he or that Berkeley
- 35:00Speaker 1: and he produces a receipt that was timestamped at twelve
- 35:03Speaker 1: fifty four PM on the twenty four, So that lines
- 35:06Speaker 1: up when with when he what.
- 35:09Speaker 2: He says what the cell phone records saying.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Yeah, So he's out there, he gets there at twelve
- 35:13Speaker 1: fifty four, and he said he's out there about an
- 35:15Speaker 1: hour and a half. And like I said, everything is
- 35:17Speaker 1: matching up, phone records, receipts for his timeline.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Then in the documentary they play the voicemail that Scott
- 35:27Speaker 2: left at two fifteen home on his way home from
- 35:32Speaker 2: fishing to Lacey's phone, and this is gonna make me
- 35:36Speaker 2: throw open my mouth a little bit. I'll try and
- 35:38Speaker 2: say it the way that he said it on the Stude.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Said that if Stu left this voice fail for me,
- 35:43Speaker 1: I'd be.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Like, he definitely did something.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Yeah, Because sometimes whenever he's too happy, I'm like, why
- 35:48Speaker 1: the fuck are you so happy?
- 35:49Speaker 2: Like you're cheating on me, you drunk, doing drugs?
- 35:52Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 35:53Speaker 2: Like why are you so concerned about it?
- 35:55Speaker 1: I asked him that's multiple times on random chair, like
- 35:58Speaker 1: why are you so Why are you in such a
- 36:00Speaker 1: good mood?
- 36:00Speaker 2: And I'm like, why don't you want me to be happy?
- 36:04Speaker 2: So Scott says, hey, beautiful, I won't be able to
- 36:08Speaker 2: get to Bella Farms to get the basket for Papa.
- 36:12Speaker 2: I'm leaving Berkeley. Love you honey. Now, The detective said,
- 36:16Speaker 2: I think I just threw up in my mouth. Detectives say,
- 36:19Speaker 2: he feels that it was overly loving, like they were newly.
- 36:22Speaker 1: With They weren't even like if newlyweds that means to
- 36:26Speaker 1: have never spoke, but we're not that. I guess some
- 36:28Speaker 1: people are more loving.
- 36:29Speaker 2: More gooey.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I just don't have it, he called it. Yeah,
- 36:34Speaker 1: I don't have that in me, so I can't relate
- 36:36Speaker 1: to this. This does seem fake to me. But maybe
- 36:39Speaker 1: that's who they were.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Oh schniockels, Oh my god, no no, So, like we said,
- 36:46Speaker 2: the detective thinks it's overly loving. Then we go to
- 36:49Speaker 2: Scott in prison, saying that it was normal for them
- 36:52Speaker 2: to talk this way, and that she called him cutie
- 36:56Speaker 2: and he called her beautiful and god, I can't even
- 37:02Speaker 2: imagine what that would be like if I had to
- 37:04Speaker 2: do that every day. It'd be like eating sugar all
- 37:07Speaker 2: day long, every day.
- 37:09Speaker 1: M hmm.
- 37:10Speaker 2: At some point you would just get sick. Yeah, that's
- 37:13Speaker 2: all you got to say about that.
- 37:17Speaker 1: I'm just like, I don't know what's kind of kind
- 37:20Speaker 1: of analogy that is.
- 37:23Speaker 2: But okay, Scott said that they I was gonna.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Say, it feels like being stabbed in your foot multiple
- 37:28Speaker 1: times a day and oh finally you're just like I
- 37:30Speaker 1: can't stand it anymore.
- 37:31Speaker 2: In your foot or your eyeball.
- 37:32Speaker 1: And your eyeball and then you snap, you stop, beautiful,
- 37:35Speaker 1: Stop call duty.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Scott said that they enjoyed and loved one another and
- 37:40Speaker 2: that they were great friends, and that he couldn't believe
- 37:43Speaker 2: that they thought it was so sweet. Scott said, I
- 37:46Speaker 2: bet they have really sad marriages if they think that,
- 37:50Speaker 2: and that he feels bad for people.
- 37:52Speaker 1: So he think he feels bad for them.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Like to it feels bad for me and you too, but.
- 37:57Speaker 1: He also feels bad for the officer's face family because
- 38:01Speaker 1: he thinks that they think it's like what kills me
- 38:03Speaker 1: is he actually is.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Like everybody should be this way.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Well no, but what he no what kills me is
- 38:08Speaker 1: he's saying, I feel they have sad marriages. You killed
- 38:11Speaker 1: your wife like then he okay, well he also let's
- 38:17Speaker 1: also let's also keep in mind he's saying that they
- 38:19Speaker 1: have sad marriages and judging their marriages based on because
- 38:22Speaker 1: they think this was too overly sweet. He cheated on
- 38:25Speaker 1: his wife if he didn't even kill her, not that
- 38:27Speaker 1: far yet, he at least cheated on her, which means
- 38:29Speaker 1: that his marriage is sad.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Now. After all that, Scott goes on to tell him
- 38:34Speaker 2: why he got the boat two weeks before Lacey disappeared,
- 38:38Speaker 2: and he says that he bought it for his father
- 38:39Speaker 2: in law, Lacey's stepfather, and that he thought it would
- 38:44Speaker 2: be great memories as a grandpa, so that he could
- 38:46Speaker 2: take Connor fishing, who's not even born yet.
- 38:50Speaker 1: But and then also they were saying this because apparently
- 38:54Speaker 1: nobody knew he owned a boat. He kept it in
- 38:56Speaker 1: his warehouse, and they were questioning. The family started questioning
- 39:00Speaker 1: whether even the Lacey knew about the boat. They don't
- 39:04Speaker 1: even think she knew about that he had a boat,
- 39:06Speaker 1: because she never mentioned it. But that's why he's saying
- 39:07Speaker 1: it was a present, so it would be a secret.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Did she even know he had the warehouse.
- 39:12Speaker 1: I think she knew he had the warehouse because they
- 39:14Speaker 1: stored stuff in it, But whether she went there or not,
- 39:17Speaker 1: I do not know.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Yeah, so you're gonna get a boat. This is a
- 39:20Speaker 2: scar your unborn child, so.
- 39:22Speaker 1: His grandpa for his grandpa, for the baby. This would
- 39:27Speaker 1: be something that maybe you'd buy when the kid was
- 39:28Speaker 1: like seven or eight, maybe for the grandpa, so they
- 39:31Speaker 1: can start going out and hose.
- 39:32Speaker 2: I mean, you could take the three and a half
- 39:34Speaker 2: year old we got now out on the boat. She'd
- 39:35Speaker 2: think it's great, but that's still three and a half
- 39:37Speaker 2: years down the road. The kid won't actually know how
- 39:39Speaker 2: to fish until it's probably.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Sex or And why are you taking someone else's present
- 39:43Speaker 1: out into the water if it really is a present
- 39:46Speaker 1: for somebody.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Else, there's no holes in it. You can't give him
- 39:49Speaker 2: a boat with holes and holes in it. His story
- 39:52Speaker 2: sets you up for that one.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so Scott arrives home around we're I don't I
- 39:57Speaker 1: feel like I am being overly critical of everything he
- 40:00Speaker 1: says because I feel like he did kill his wife.
- 40:03Speaker 1: But yeah, but some of this stuff just doesn't make sense,
- 40:09Speaker 1: even on if I was trying to look at it
- 40:10Speaker 1: from a reasonable let's play the Devil's atticate kid. Maybe
- 40:14Speaker 1: he is getting the gift for on. What doesn't add
- 40:16Speaker 1: up to me is the taking it out like it's
- 40:19Speaker 1: his own, like.
- 40:20Speaker 2: He yeah, we're not sure a La even knows that.
- 40:23Speaker 2: And a lot of times he bought a boat for
- 40:25Speaker 2: her stepfather.
- 40:26Speaker 1: And a lot of times when you buy something like that,
- 40:29Speaker 1: the person that you bought it for may not know
- 40:31Speaker 1: that you bought it for him, but usually the spouse knows.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Because something big like that that they're going to have
- 40:35Speaker 1: to store and stuff, usually run it by the mother.
- 40:39Speaker 1: The mother and say, hey, I was going to get
- 40:41Speaker 1: ro on this boat. You think he'd like that or
- 40:43Speaker 1: do you have guys? Would that be a good idea?
- 40:45Speaker 1: You know, like you would think normally you would run
- 40:47Speaker 1: a bigger purchase like that by the spouse, even if
- 40:50Speaker 1: the person didn't know about it, like if they were
- 40:53Speaker 1: going to get you if if like my brother was
- 40:54Speaker 1: going to get you a boat, he'd be like, hey, Carroy,
- 40:56Speaker 1: do you think getting steal a boat.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Is kind of bass boat, pontoon boat, suntracker.
- 41:03Speaker 1: So I feel like there should have been some sort
- 41:04Speaker 1: of talk about it, or even the family saying, oh,
- 41:07Speaker 1: we had talked about really wanting a boat so that
- 41:09Speaker 1: he could have these memories with Connor. So that makes
- 41:11Speaker 1: sense that he bought the boat like it may if
- 41:14Speaker 1: he had been talking about getting this boat, possibly, but
- 41:17Speaker 1: there was no talk. Everybody's like, we had no clue
- 41:19Speaker 1: he even had a boat. We had no idea he
- 41:21Speaker 1: was purchasing a boat. Nothing. So Scott so then they
- 41:26Speaker 1: go back to the story where Scott he's He's saying
- 41:30Speaker 1: that he arrives home around four thirty PM but does
- 41:33Speaker 1: not feel like anything is wrong immediately when he comes
- 41:36Speaker 1: to the house. He just assumes that Lacey is out
- 41:38Speaker 1: with friends or something. He said, that is when he
- 41:41Speaker 1: jumped in the shower. He ate some pizza and drink
- 41:43Speaker 1: some milk. Again the Scott Peterson Special.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Pizza and milk. Yeah, I love milk, but I'm not
- 41:48Speaker 2: eating pizza and drinking milk.
- 41:50Speaker 1: But see our children do. That's why it's the Scott
- 41:51Speaker 1: Peterson Special. So he got dressed. He you know, he
- 41:57Speaker 1: dumped out that mop bucket that was out on the
- 41:59Speaker 1: back porch that Lacy was mopping that morning, that the
- 42:02Speaker 1: detective thought was weird.
- 42:03Speaker 2: Well it's not weird. I mean she couldn't take the
- 42:05Speaker 2: bucket out after she got done mopping, just leaving that
- 42:07Speaker 2: stinky water in the house.
- 42:09Speaker 1: She was pregnant. She was eight months pregnant.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Then why was she mopping?
- 42:16Speaker 1: Because you still I painted an entire bedroom eight months pregnant.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Okay, well, then she could have taken out the mop
- 42:22Speaker 2: water and dumped it.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Let me tell you what I would sit there and
- 42:26Speaker 1: be like, I'll mob the force. But that's I still
- 42:28Speaker 1: do that to this day. I'll just leave something un that's.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Going to be the end of our marriage. Is he
- 42:33Speaker 2: not wrapping the vacuum in the vacuum? I just.
- 42:38Speaker 1: No. The towilve paper is whatever. But I do drive
- 42:40Speaker 1: him crazy with the cord on the vacuum because I
- 42:42Speaker 1: just kind of casually roll it up and then hang it,
- 42:44Speaker 1: and he wants it.
- 42:45Speaker 2: You don't casually hang it. You balance it so that
- 42:48Speaker 2: as soon as you grab it, the whole thing just
- 42:50Speaker 2: falls off onto the floor and it has to be
- 42:51Speaker 2: picked up.
- 42:52Speaker 1: At least I have a vacuumed. So he's he's getting dressed,
- 42:56Speaker 1: he's jump dumping on the mob bucket, he's washing his clothes,
- 42:59Speaker 1: he's taking those rags out of the water. He's laying
- 43:01Speaker 1: him on there. He forgot to, you know, put those
- 43:05Speaker 1: rags in the laundry basket, which was a red flag
- 43:07Speaker 1: to police. And when he still has not heard from Lacey,
- 43:11Speaker 1: around five seventeen PM, he finally calls Lacey's mom and
- 43:15Speaker 1: says she was missing. So this is only to give
- 43:17Speaker 1: him credit for his storyline. It's only forty five minutes
- 43:21Speaker 1: from when he got home to he's like, Okay, I
- 43:23Speaker 1: haven't seen her. This is weird, and he did. So
- 43:25Speaker 1: it wasn't a long time from when he got home
- 43:28Speaker 1: he called, assuming he didn't.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Kill her, but assuming that he had nothing to do
- 43:32Speaker 2: with it.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it wouldn't be that crazy to wait forty five
- 43:35Speaker 1: minutes to call and have the Scott Peterson Special for
- 43:38Speaker 1: a little snacky snack. All right, So this episode's already
- 43:42Speaker 1: gone on for a long time and we haven't even
- 43:44Speaker 1: made it through episode one. So we're gonna stop here
- 43:47Speaker 1: in the middle, right here, and we will put out
- 43:50Speaker 1: part two of this on Patreon. So that's what we're
- 43:57Speaker 1: gonna do, because frankly.
- 43:59Speaker 2: So for all of you listen, none of this for free.
- 44:01Speaker 2: The first taste is free.
- 44:03Speaker 1: After that you got, and we wouldn't have done We
- 44:06Speaker 1: didn't plan on doing it this way, but the fact
- 44:08Speaker 1: is that we got overrun with life and we couldn't
- 44:12Speaker 1: get another episode written to put out on the normal feed.
- 44:15Speaker 1: So the original plan was to put this out just
- 44:17Speaker 1: on the Patreon, but like I said at the beginning
- 44:20Speaker 1: of the episode, we just ran on time. So it's
- 44:22Speaker 1: either you get part of this and then the second
- 44:24Speaker 1: part on patron or you get nothing. Those are your
- 44:26Speaker 1: two options.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Yes, we've already canceled like four different things for this weekend. Yes,
- 44:30Speaker 2: possibly their show for tomorrow. We're not going.
- 44:33Speaker 1: What did we cancel?
- 44:34Speaker 2: Huh?
- 44:34Speaker 1: What did we cancel this weekend?
- 44:36Speaker 2: The supper Club was canceled.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I didn't do supper club. No, it was
- 44:40Speaker 1: all supper Club was also just like there's too much
- 44:42Speaker 1: going on because we're leaving next week.
- 44:44Speaker 2: So yeah, we still haven't finished.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Back We still have finished backing.
- 44:51Speaker 2: All the stuff is not even here.
- 44:53Speaker 1: No, we had to do our last minute like panic
- 44:56Speaker 1: Amazon shopping to make sure. Because that's the other thing
- 44:58Speaker 1: is our kids don't go to daycare, so they don't
- 45:00Speaker 1: have any clothes anymore. They run around their pajamas ninety
- 45:03Speaker 1: percent of the time, and they go to a little
- 45:04Speaker 1: gym and stuff on the weekends. But the leaving the
- 45:08Speaker 1: house every day, so some of their stuff, like we
- 45:10Speaker 1: just wear they wear the same old clothes and everything,
- 45:12Speaker 1: but some of them are getting a little little I've
- 45:15Speaker 1: got my daughter, she's on today to go to a
- 45:16Speaker 1: little gym and like, oh, her toes are.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Look like a can of busted discuits. Girl, let's go.
- 45:22Speaker 1: Stewart, don't say that.
- 45:24Speaker 2: It's not that bad.
- 45:25Speaker 1: No, don't be saying that about toddler.
- 45:30Speaker 2: Just because they're in clothes that are too small for them.
- 45:32Speaker 1: But the Canna busted biscuit sounds like.
- 45:34Speaker 2: You're being mad and busting at Yes.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Yes, that's what I look like.
- 45:39Speaker 2: That's what I look like.
- 45:40Speaker 1: No, they're just everything's too short and too like her
- 45:43Speaker 1: she's got like her little pajamas she was wearing her.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Like got the brinckles, Brittany Middrift show ankles.
- 45:49Speaker 1: And then yeah, she's running around with her stomach poking
- 45:52Speaker 1: out because everything's.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Just and she won't quite wearing and we had to
- 45:55Speaker 2: hide those pajamas.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, so we'll we'll see you on the
- 46:01Speaker 1: Patreon with the second part of this.
- 46:03Speaker 2: The second part of episode one of Peacocks.
- 46:09Speaker 1: I didn't realize it was going to take us as
- 46:10Speaker 1: long to get through this, but we apparently are very
- 46:12Speaker 1: opinionated about everything.
- 46:14Speaker 2: You are, per Husue.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Well, what are they way to do?
- 46:17Speaker 2: Just read it?
