- 0:37Speaker 2: Indoors man man.
- 0:41Speaker 1: What is happening? I'm Rob Lundquiz and I'm muse and
- 0:45Speaker 1: we are the avid indoors Man.
- 0:47Speaker 3: How everyone?
- 0:50Speaker 4: Hello?
- 0:51Speaker 1: How are you buddy?
- 0:52Speaker 5: Oh?
- 0:52Speaker 3: You know, I'm doing great. It's fall and I like it.
- 0:57Speaker 3: The tree across the street is fully red, which I
- 1:00Speaker 3: enjoy a lot.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Oh that is fine fun. Yeah. I love the fault
- 1:05Speaker 1: colors too.
- 1:06Speaker 3: How are you?
- 1:07Speaker 1: I'm good. I'm not getting any of that. I'm out
- 1:09Speaker 1: in Cali four I a currently. We did a show
- 1:15Speaker 1: in Anaheim last night went really well, lovely, uh, and
- 1:20Speaker 1: then we were in Mesa. Before that, it was one
- 1:22Speaker 1: hundred and six degrees in Mesa Hell's Belts. That was
- 1:26Speaker 1: very hot.
- 1:27Speaker 4: And then before that was San Diago.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Oh, which was really there. I didn't have any sar crow. No.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Sour Kraw was founded by the Germans. I don't know
- 1:39Speaker 3: if you knew that.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Oh it was mean, Yeah, I think it's called it.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Yeah. It was fun though, because we had two days
- 1:47Speaker 1: off before then, and so Kelsey brought the kiddos down
- 1:52Speaker 1: and we rocked out San Diego for a couple of days.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It was really fun.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Man, that sounds amazing. That is still a place I've
- 1:57Speaker 3: never been. Strangely, it is very much worth checking out.
- 2:02Speaker 3: It's you'd really like it. Every morning was like super foggy.
- 2:08Speaker 1: They have this thing called the Marine Layer, and yeah,
- 2:13Speaker 1: one of the days, like actually, when I was flying in,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I had we had to circle for a while because there.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Was like so much fog. Interesting and I didn't remember.
- 2:21Speaker 1: That about San Diego, but it was pretty intense and
- 2:24Speaker 1: then it would like die off by like whatever, and
- 2:29Speaker 1: it would just be like beautiful. Yeah that's great, but yeah,
- 2:34Speaker 1: it was really cool. We did the San Diego Zoo,
- 2:36Speaker 1: which the kids love.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Like the best one, right, it is, yeah awesome, and.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Just like because of that climate, like so many different
- 2:46Speaker 1: animals that are there that aren't in the Minnesota Zoo.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 1: So they got to see a bunch of cool stuff.
- 2:52Speaker 1: And we did a thing called a seal boat tour,
- 2:56Speaker 1: which is like the duck boat tours in Boston if
- 2:59Speaker 1: you know. Sure, And it was really cool. So that
- 3:04Speaker 1: was that was kind of a highlight. The kids are
- 3:05Speaker 1: a little nervous about it. They're like, so this this
- 3:08Speaker 1: bus goes in the water.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, it's like it is a weird, scary concept.
- 3:13Speaker 3: I bet they were.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Nervous, but it ended up being like the highlight of
- 3:18Speaker 1: the trip. There were a bunch of like sea lions
- 3:20Speaker 1: out fun.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Oh that's delightful. I love to hear.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I had a good little vak in the middle of tour.
- 3:26Speaker 1: It was fun.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I love it man. That's great.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Recharge you guys getting close ish to done with this tour,
- 3:32Speaker 3: don't you like.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Yeah, So we're in like the toughest part of the
- 3:36Speaker 1: tour where just like schedule wise, so it's like ten
- 3:40Speaker 1: shows in eleven days. I think right now we're at
- 3:44Speaker 1: I think there's seven more shows in eight days.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Nice. Nice, Yeah, well that seeing the finish line always
- 3:51Speaker 3: helps and nothing fun, it's just a lot.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, the shows have been so good. And it's
- 3:58Speaker 1: been fun seeing a bunch of doorsy's out there.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Heck, yeah, yeah, lovely pal Yeah yeah, very cool.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Have you been able to see any movies recently?
- 4:08Speaker 3: Yeah, actually, just this very day I watched on Apple TV.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Plus I believe is where it was. I watched that
- 4:15Speaker 3: Wolves movie which you might be.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Which I was going to talk about.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I kind of figured we would right up
- 4:21Speaker 3: both of our alleys. This is, of course, the film
- 4:25Speaker 3: about two fixers played by Colooney mister George Clooney sorry,
- 4:30Speaker 3: and Bradley Pitt.
- 4:31Speaker 1: It's a good thing that you let them know which Coloney.
- 4:34Speaker 3: I know, I figured I should.
- 4:36Speaker 1: It could have been Rosemary, you never know.
- 4:38Speaker 3: I know, I didn't want to be rude. This movie
- 4:43Speaker 3: I thought was super, super fun. It's it's way more
- 4:46Speaker 3: of a comedy than I guess I thought, Like I
- 4:49Speaker 3: guess the trailer was funny, but I sort of thought
- 4:51Speaker 3: it was going to be more maybe more drama. But
- 4:55Speaker 3: it's a I don't know, it felt really funny to
- 4:57Speaker 3: me anyway, like very dark comedy obviously given the context.
- 5:02Speaker 3: But these two are just they're just fantastic together, as
- 5:05Speaker 3: we've seen them in a number of films. At this point,
- 5:09Speaker 3: and I really really liked it. And then I saw
- 5:12Speaker 3: afterward that it's written and directed by the dude who
- 5:14Speaker 3: did all the Spider Man's and I was like, ah,
- 5:17Speaker 3: well that makes sense. I loved all those movies as well.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah, what's that John guy.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Yeah, he's very much in demand right now. I think
- 5:25Speaker 3: he also just signed up to do the Fourth Spider
- 5:27Speaker 3: Man maybe as well, so in the Tom Holland series
- 5:33Speaker 3: of course, the most contemporary one. But yeah, I just
- 5:37Speaker 3: I got nothing bad to say able to this movie
- 5:39Speaker 3: at all. I had a really fun time watching it.
- 5:41Speaker 3: It's like an hour forty so it's not like crazy
- 5:44Speaker 3: long either or anything. I loved it a lot. What
- 5:47Speaker 3: did you think?
- 5:48Speaker 4: I yeah, same takes.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Nice.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I watched it on the way to one of the
- 5:54Speaker 1: places I was flying too, for sure, And yeah, I'm
- 5:59Speaker 1: saying the chemistry is awesome and I love like the bickering,
- 6:05Speaker 1: the back and forth. It's so much fun, like.
- 6:07Speaker 3: My favorite part. Yeah, I'm with you for sure. For sure.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Amy Ryan had a small role in there, and she
- 6:13Speaker 1: was she was fun. It was good seeing her again. Yeah,
- 6:17Speaker 1: but yeah, pretty much all the same takes. I think
- 6:19Speaker 1: it's definitely worth checking out it's not getting like great reviews.
- 6:23Speaker 3: I saw that too, and I don't really get, like,
- 6:26Speaker 3: what's wrong with this movie? I guess I don't super
- 6:29Speaker 3: understand it's it's nothing like incredible, but it's really fun.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I thought, I.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Know, I'm with you, same exact take for sure.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Yeah. I watched it and I was like, yeah, rap's
- 6:40Speaker 3: gonna like this one too. I was like, yep, this
- 6:43Speaker 3: is right up our alley, you know what I mean.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Just loved it fun and silly and yeah.
- 6:47Speaker 1: If I'm if those two are in a movie together,
- 6:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna watch it.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Yeah, And I wonder if they will sort of do
- 6:55Speaker 3: another one maybe or something. I feel like it was, uh.
- 6:59Speaker 1: They could, but I think they were pretty well at least.
- 7:02Speaker 1: George Clooney was not happy that it only went straight
- 7:05Speaker 1: to streaming.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Oh really, see that interesting? I didn't see. Huh.
- 7:09Speaker 1: He wanted a theatrical release, which I get.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess so, and maybe that, you know, he
- 7:15Speaker 3: probably thinks that's part of what it's not doing as
- 7:17Speaker 3: well too, maybe or something. I don't know, Yeah, less
- 7:20Speaker 3: people see it or something. I didn't even know if
- 7:21Speaker 3: that's true. So, but anyway, I liked it a lot.
- 7:24Speaker 3: I'm glad you liked to check it out.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I did too. Yeah, and it's on Apple TV Plus
- 7:28Speaker 1: for if I think you said that, but if I didn't, I.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Should have, so it is.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, But speaking of the streaming machines.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Yes, what have you been streaming? I've been streaming me
- 7:41Speaker 3: hitting my microphone. I finished season two of Lord of
- 7:46Speaker 3: the Rings Rings of Power.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Yeah, you did a lot of times.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I just keep missing the end of it.
- 7:54Speaker 3: That's okay. I won't talk about specifics. I feel like
- 7:58Speaker 3: this one is cheating a little bit for me. It's like,
- 8:00Speaker 3: I am gonna love it probably no matter what, you
- 8:04Speaker 3: know what I mean. It's just fun to see that
- 8:08Speaker 3: universe explored in a thing that has just such a
- 8:11Speaker 3: huge budget and like people that clearly care about it.
- 8:15Speaker 3: I think they've done some really interesting stuff with it.
- 8:18Speaker 3: And the end of the season is wildly good, I
- 8:23Speaker 3: think nice and sets up for some really cool stuff.
- 8:28Speaker 3: It is action packed, I will say that, and I
- 8:30Speaker 3: don't think that's giving anything away. And it's super good
- 8:34Speaker 3: and it's got I think one of the dudes is
- 8:37Speaker 3: going to win an Emmy for sure. Very eligible for
- 8:40Speaker 3: Emmy's right.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Yeah, two of them, probably the dude who plays Halbrand
- 8:48Speaker 3: Cool spoiler alert if you haven't seen the first one,
- 8:50Speaker 3: skip forward if you care, but he's sour. Run him.
- 8:55Speaker 3: But the dude I loved is oh I didn't say
- 8:58Speaker 3: his name, Charlie Vickers is that dude's name, And he's
- 9:00Speaker 3: been exquisite this whole the whole show basically. But Charles
- 9:05Speaker 3: Edwards who plays Calibrimbour his last like two episodes, really
- 9:12Speaker 3: this whole season, but the last two especially, he's phenomenal
- 9:16Speaker 3: in them. You're really going to like his performance. I
- 9:20Speaker 3: think it's really fun, so nice. I had an awesome
- 9:23Speaker 3: time with it. I love it. It's on Prime I
- 9:25Speaker 3: don't think I said it this time. It was on
- 9:28Speaker 3: Prime ye, but that's a Prime show. So if you
- 9:31Speaker 3: like that world, check it out. They do some really
- 9:34Speaker 3: fun stuff with with really like nebulous source material because
- 9:39Speaker 3: it's all from like the appendices and you know, untold
- 9:42Speaker 3: stories and stuff, which is fun. So check it out. Yeah.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I was finding it lullin a little bit in.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Two and three episodes.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Two and Understandable and yeah, so it was.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Kind of hard to motivate myself to because each episode
- 9:57Speaker 1: is like an hour.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Yeah, they're not short. Yeah, and I can totally see
- 10:03Speaker 3: because you know, I know, like I've read a lot
- 10:06Speaker 3: of those books and stuff, so I'm like the little
- 10:08Speaker 3: tidbits for super fans, which is super fun. But like,
- 10:13Speaker 3: I get it, right, if you're not that invested, you know,
- 10:17Speaker 3: but you should. You should power through a little bit
- 10:19Speaker 3: because it's worth it.
- 10:20Speaker 1: The both both you and Rut have said that really
- 10:24Speaker 1: picks up really good. I'll check it out.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Yeah, sure, nice, you know, I get it. There's a
- 10:28Speaker 3: ton of stuff going on, so I probably haven't seen
- 10:31Speaker 3: what you're going to talk about. What have you been streaming?
- 10:34Speaker 1: I watched the first two episodes of The Penguin on Max.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Oh see, I haven't seen that yet. Tell me everything.
- 10:42Speaker 1: It's awesome, it's really cool.
- 10:43Speaker 3: I've heard it's really well done.
- 10:46Speaker 4: So I'm sure people have seen.
- 10:48Speaker 1: But Colin Ferrell, he's reprised his role as as Oz Cobb. Yeah,
- 10:54Speaker 1: and all the makeup in the body suit he has
- 10:56Speaker 1: to be in. It's really incredible. I mean, it doesn't
- 11:01Speaker 1: right if you didn't know it was Tolin, Like who
- 11:03Speaker 1: is this guy?
- 11:06Speaker 4: But Kristin Malati.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Is uh is kind of the number two in this
- 11:11Speaker 1: and we loved her from Palm Springs. Yeah, but she
- 11:16Speaker 1: plays Sofia Falcone and she is great. She's like a
- 11:21Speaker 1: little unhinged and a really fun role. She's got these
- 11:25Speaker 1: really like big eyes that just they just expressed so much.
- 11:30Speaker 1: And when she's a little like unhinged, like I said,
- 11:32Speaker 1: a little crazy, it's fun.
- 11:35Speaker 3: I've seeing her in something else recently where she got
- 11:37Speaker 3: that way a little bit and I was like, yeah,
- 11:39Speaker 3: that's fun. I like it, I believe, you know.
- 11:43Speaker 1: And there's a it's a pretty good supporting cast to
- 11:45Speaker 1: Some other folks I recognized are Michael Kelly, who played
- 11:48Speaker 1: a big role in House of Cards, Clancy Brown who
- 11:52Speaker 1: played the head guard at Shawshank, who's got that amazing voice. Yes,
- 11:58Speaker 1: and then Theo Rossi who was on Sons of Anarchy
- 12:01Speaker 1: and you definitely recognize him.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Juice, right Juice.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:08Speaker 1: But it's been really fun so far. It's definitely worth
- 12:10Speaker 1: watching for Colin Farrell alone.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Cool.
- 12:13Speaker 1: But this is another series that just has been given
- 12:17Speaker 1: all the money. They're doing a lot of really cool things.
- 12:20Speaker 1: It's it's a dark and gritty version of you know,
- 12:24Speaker 1: the Batman lore, but it's great. I'm into it.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Like it's obviously in that setting, but it basically just
- 12:32Speaker 3: turns into like a crime syndicate show, right, like pretty quick.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's almost like it's almost well and it's funny.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I saw a comparison of Colin Farrell as the Penguin
- 12:45Speaker 1: compared to Tony Soprano. Oh, it's pretty interesting. Yeah, he's
- 12:51Speaker 1: kind of doing a Tony soprano. He's doing a Gandelfini,
- 12:56Speaker 1: you know.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Nice.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I would highly recommend. I've only seen the first
- 13:00Speaker 1: two episodes. I think there are more than that out.
- 13:02Speaker 1: There's probably like four or five episodes out now. But yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 1: it's really fun.
- 13:07Speaker 3: I'm definitely planning on checking that out at some point
- 13:09Speaker 3: because I've heard it's so good. But man, there's a
- 13:11Speaker 3: lot of stuff out right now. There's so much always
- 13:13Speaker 3: I guess I don't know what am I talking about,
- 13:15Speaker 3: but yeah, that's fun man, nice love it. Well, what
- 13:19Speaker 3: do you think should we do if you pluger rooms?
- 13:21Speaker 1: Let's plea all right?
- 13:23Speaker 3: Guess can visit us as always over on the Twitter
- 13:25Speaker 3: machine where we're at avid indoorsmanwit a Z. You can

- 13:33Speaker 3: We're available on Instagram and TikTok at the Avid endorsement

- 13:39Speaker 3: out and be part of the crew, spot to.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Go patreon dot com slash the Avid indoorsman, it's a
- 13:47Speaker 1: great time On Patreon. We like to give them a
- 13:49Speaker 1: lot of perks, and one of those is a shout out.
- 13:52Speaker 1: So let's give it up for Marsha Grisiac, Mary Fox,
- 13:55Speaker 1: Nannette Walkley, Yo Ambrose, the Jackie Houston Devil, and Noel Flora.
- 14:01Speaker 1: We appreciate you so much. Thank you for your patronet.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Another perk we like to give our patrons is an
- 14:09Speaker 1: extended version of every episode that we put out, where
- 14:13Speaker 1: we'll do a top five draft that pertains to the
- 14:15Speaker 1: movie that we're talking about. And for this one, our
- 14:18Speaker 1: guest came up with it our top five this animal
- 14:24Speaker 1: Better Not Die movies.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and maybe expanding out beyond that. I guess,
- 14:31Speaker 3: I don't know. Did we say an animal. I don't remember.
- 14:35Speaker 4: I haven't said insert animal.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Here is what she had on her So I of
- 14:38Speaker 1: course you read that.
- 14:39Speaker 3: I was just you know, explaining further for the people listening.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Yep. Yeah, And so this is just your hoping that
- 14:47Speaker 1: they're not going to It doesn't mean that they aren't.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Yes, so it gives us a little wiggle room.
- 14:53Speaker 1: And I think it'll be fun.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Just like endearing creasures or something. I don't know the
- 14:58Speaker 3: best way to explain it.
- 15:00Speaker 4: It might be a little spoilery.
- 15:01Speaker 1: So if we say something, you know, just just fast
- 15:05Speaker 1: forward to me.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll say that's a good idea before we say spoilers,
- 15:10Speaker 3: will be like from this film, you know, and then
- 15:12Speaker 3: move forward or something.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Give it three seconds then yeah.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yeah, nice. That should be very fun. So stick around
- 15:20Speaker 3: for that. Also, stick around for our next episode. We
- 15:22Speaker 3: don't know what it is yet, but it's gonna be great.
- 15:24Speaker 3: I promise it's gonna be great. It's gonna be fantastic,
- 15:27Speaker 3: so do that. What it's also equally fantastic is our
- 15:31Speaker 3: guest here. We're so happy to have her back. She
- 15:36Speaker 3: has a little something to do with this film that
- 15:38Speaker 3: we're talking about today, and she's just the best in
- 15:41Speaker 3: the whole wide world. She actually when every time I
- 15:44Speaker 3: picture MS, what did you say? I missed her name? Now? Already? Malatti?
- 15:51Speaker 3: Is that her name?
- 15:51Speaker 5: Oh?
- 15:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Kristin Malatti Kristin Malatti.
- 15:54Speaker 3: I always think of Sammy because I feel like they
- 15:56Speaker 3: look a little bit similar, which is fun.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I can see that, I can see that.
- 16:00Speaker 3: This wasn't a great introduction, but let's welcome her in anyway.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Give it up for Sammy.
- 16:06Speaker 4: What's up, Sammy?
- 16:07Speaker 1: Hi, guys, good to see you.
- 16:13Speaker 5: It's so good to see you, guys. I was just
- 16:16Speaker 5: letting them know before we started recording. I am getting
- 16:19Speaker 5: over COVID, so my voice is a little sultry today.
- 16:24Speaker 3: It's deeper than both of ours. It's crazy.
- 16:26Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, me and Adam are going to start a
- 16:30Speaker 5: baritone duo.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Yes, do a Dwarven song together. Immediately the dwarfs had
- 16:38Speaker 3: to sail at some point. You could probably do a
- 16:39Speaker 3: Dwarven sea shanty.
- 16:41Speaker 6: Why not?
- 16:42Speaker 3: That's written his milieu. I love it. Well, that's fun.
- 16:46Speaker 3: I mean, the COVID part's not fun. But I'm chipper,
- 16:51Speaker 3: so good work.
- 16:52Speaker 6: I'm getting past it. We're moving on up.
- 16:55Speaker 3: We're working through.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I love it.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Well. We're here today to talk about a very fun movie.
- 17:02Speaker 3: John Wick. I don't know if you've ever heard of
- 17:04Speaker 3: this one or not.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Yeah, no, never, not once.
- 17:09Speaker 3: This is from the year twenty fourteen, and I.
- 17:12Speaker 4: Feel like she was just talking about her let and
- 17:13Speaker 4: do it right now?
- 17:14Speaker 3: Of course, now you're in it.
- 17:18Speaker 5: Yes, my very first check as an actor was from
- 17:21Speaker 5: Lion's Gate It for being an extra in john Wick
- 17:26Speaker 5: Number one.
- 17:29Speaker 3: But I had so many questions, how long were you
- 17:32Speaker 3: there for? What was it like?
- 17:33Speaker 1: Tell us all about it?
- 17:35Speaker 6: So it was three day.
- 17:37Speaker 5: I don't even remember how I booked it because I
- 17:40Speaker 5: wasn't like doing a lot of auditions back then, especially
- 17:43Speaker 5: not for film and TV. I was doing a lot
- 17:45Speaker 5: more theater auditions back then. I was living in Manhattan,
- 17:50Speaker 5: and I got booked on a three day overnight shoot.
- 17:57Speaker 5: So every day our call time was I think two pm,
- 18:03Speaker 5: and then we would like start getting ready and start
- 18:04Speaker 5: getting wrangled, and we would start filming around five pm
- 18:08Speaker 5: and we would get sent home or anywhere between two
- 18:12Speaker 5: and five am.
- 18:14Speaker 6: Three nights from now.
- 18:16Speaker 3: That's a long time.
- 18:17Speaker 6: It is a long time.
- 18:18Speaker 5: And if you watch the movie, you see me for
- 18:21Speaker 5: three seconds maybe, And I was one of the little
- 18:24Speaker 5: lucky ones. All the friends I made on that set
- 18:27Speaker 5: are not seen.
- 18:29Speaker 3: So I thought about that dude that's dancing with you,
- 18:34Speaker 3: and I was like, we just see at the back
- 18:36Speaker 3: of his head. Yeah, he was so close.
- 18:38Speaker 6: And that guy got lucky too.
- 18:39Speaker 5: Like there were hundreds of people there, and I remember
- 18:45Speaker 5: maybe I'm jumping ahead too much, but I remember like
- 18:49Speaker 5: the days of filming being a little bit like, do
- 18:54Speaker 5: you guys care about continuity at all? Because they kept
- 18:57Speaker 5: putting me in They kept being like, uh.
- 18:59Speaker 6: You and putting me in scenes.
- 19:02Speaker 5: And it was I learned so much about the movie
- 19:07Speaker 5: making world that that three days, because there was just
- 19:13Speaker 5: all of these scenes that clearly got left on the
- 19:16Speaker 5: cutting room floor because the only one that I was
- 19:18Speaker 5: actually in was you know, the one where he comes
- 19:21Speaker 5: barreling through me. But they put me in all like
- 19:27Speaker 5: so many scenes that night. All my friends were like,
- 19:29Speaker 5: I don't understand, Like how is you're gonna You're gonna
- 19:32Speaker 5: be in the background of every scene?
- 19:34Speaker 6: And I wasn't.
- 19:35Speaker 5: So it was just so enlightening, like how much they
- 19:38Speaker 5: have to shoot just to cover and and so much
- 19:43Speaker 5: just doesn't and so much just doesn't get used. But yeah,
- 19:48Speaker 5: it was. It was three very very long nights. If
- 19:54Speaker 5: you haven't seen John Wick that the big climax of
- 19:58Speaker 5: the movie takes place in this fight club, at fight club,
- 20:02Speaker 5: this nightclub scene where they're and they're fighting in it,
- 20:07Speaker 5: and so yeah, I got hired to be a Russian raver.
- 20:11Speaker 6: That was the role, and.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Uh yeah, And.
- 20:19Speaker 5: It was so much waiting, like literally so much waiting
- 20:23Speaker 5: extras on movie sets like it's it's uh I learned
- 20:28Speaker 5: that it is really really cool and also not for me,
- 20:31Speaker 5: Like I mean, I did other extra work after this,
- 20:37Speaker 5: because this one was like an incredible first experience, and
- 20:40Speaker 5: I learned quickly that not all jobs are like that one,
- 20:44Speaker 5: because that one was really really cool. But it is
- 20:47Speaker 5: so much waiting and so much personality. There's a lot
- 20:52Speaker 5: of personality on set as an extra, and you know,
- 20:58Speaker 5: maybe it's one of the reasons that I got chosen
- 21:00Speaker 5: in to be in like put in so many scenes,
- 21:03Speaker 5: but there are so many people who like believe that
- 21:06Speaker 5: this is gonna be their big break when it's like
- 21:08Speaker 5: you're you're in the background of a scene, and so
- 21:13Speaker 5: I yeah, it was. It was a really it was
- 21:17Speaker 5: a great experience and it was very My favorite part
- 21:22Speaker 5: of the whole thing was watching Keanu work. At the time,
- 21:27Speaker 5: he hadn't acted in years, and I think some pretty
- 21:34Speaker 5: tough stuff went on in his personal life and he
- 21:36Speaker 5: took a hiatus and so this was like his first
- 21:39Speaker 5: movie back, and the focus he had on set was
- 21:43Speaker 5: really cool to watch and like in between every single
- 21:46Speaker 5: take he was rehearsing his his stunt choreography and it
- 21:50Speaker 5: was just it was it was a really cool, uh paycheck.
- 21:54Speaker 3: To get Yeah, I want I have a couple of
- 21:57Speaker 3: pieces of trivia that are specific to that night club scene.
- 22:00Speaker 3: So it'll be fun to talk with you about those
- 22:02Speaker 3: and see if you're like, oh, I wonder if that's
- 22:04Speaker 3: when you know, like when I saw Home or whatever,
- 22:07Speaker 3: because it's there's some interesting stuff that's.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Oh yeah, how cool is it that your first thing
- 22:12Speaker 1: that you did was like such an amazing movie, Like
- 22:17Speaker 1: and that scene is like one of the coolest action
- 22:21Speaker 1: scenes in movies.
- 22:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:24Speaker 5: When I went to see the movie, I had no idea,
- 22:27Speaker 5: Like I was like, I probably wouldn't be seeing this
- 22:29Speaker 5: if it weren't for having been in it. And then
- 22:33Speaker 5: I left the theater like, okay, am I like biased?
- 22:37Speaker 6: Or was that like really full?
- 22:39Speaker 1: It was awesome?
- 22:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I feel.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Like we all have that a little bit. It's gonna
- 22:44Speaker 3: be in my hot take too. But like this one
- 22:45Speaker 3: took me by surprise a little bit right, Like it
- 22:48Speaker 3: was like, oh, like this is cooler than I thought, I.
- 22:51Speaker 6: Guess or something.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Yeah, that's really fun. So two follow up questions and
- 22:56Speaker 3: then I can leave you alone. What did he say, like, oh,
- 23:02Speaker 3: was there an odor specifically good? Bad? Otherwise declined answer
- 23:06Speaker 3: either it was fine.
- 23:07Speaker 6: You know, I don't remember him smelling that.
- 23:11Speaker 3: There's no way he smells bad. I refuse to believe it.
- 23:16Speaker 3: I imagine a lot of petruli. That's what I imagined.
- 23:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel like there was a musk if I
- 23:21Speaker 5: had to, But no, like he definitely wasn't like sweaty
- 23:25Speaker 5: and I was.
- 23:27Speaker 6: I remember being like, how are you.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Like how yeah?
- 23:31Speaker 3: Sure? Sure? And what was the craft services like, because
- 23:36Speaker 3: that's really the only reason I want to ever be
- 23:38Speaker 3: in anything.
- 23:38Speaker 6: It was it was great.
- 23:39Speaker 5: We like got said, we had like a lunch at
- 23:44Speaker 5: eleven pm.
- 23:45Speaker 6: And nice and then we.
- 23:47Speaker 5: They were like snacks just the whole the whole time, wonderful.
- 23:52Speaker 5: I mean we pretty much got paid for three nights
- 23:54Speaker 5: to make friends with strangers and eat and wait and.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Have you kept in touch with anybody?
- 24:01Speaker 5: There were a few people that I was still on
- 24:04Speaker 5: like Instagram with for a while, sure, but and like
- 24:09Speaker 5: when I was living in Manhattan, Like, I saw those
- 24:12Speaker 5: people a few times, but I mean it's been so
- 24:15Speaker 5: long now.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I get that right for sure though.
- 24:18Speaker 6: Yeah it was. It was a really good experience.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Well, very cool. We're very happy to have you here
- 24:25Speaker 3: for all the reasons, but this was just an extra
- 24:27Speaker 3: special reason to get you. Yeah, it's super fun. But
- 24:31Speaker 3: we should get into it now, Rob, what do you
- 24:32Speaker 3: think should we get started with just a rough synopsis?
- 24:35Speaker 1: Yeah, let's do it. Legendary assassin John Wick retired from
- 24:40Speaker 1: his violent career after marrying the love of his life.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Her sudden death leaves John in deep mourning. When sadistic
- 24:47Speaker 1: mobster Eosef Terisov and his thugs stealed John's prized car
- 24:52Speaker 1: and kill the puppy that was a last gift from
- 24:56Speaker 1: his wife, John unleash's the room morseless killing machine within
- 25:02Speaker 1: and seeks vengeance. Meanwhile, Joseph's father, John's former colleague puts
- 25:07Speaker 1: a huge bounty on John's head.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Nice, nice good read, good read. Let's go to rotten
- 25:16Speaker 3: to models near what they had to say. Critics had
- 25:18Speaker 3: this coming in at are pretty solid eighty six percent,
- 25:21Speaker 3: which is very great.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Pretty great.
- 25:23Speaker 3: For an action film, genuinely shocked audiences have it at
- 25:27Speaker 3: eighty one percent, and I don't really get that. I
- 25:30Speaker 3: feel like an audience move.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I feel like for the puppy scene alone, that's gonna
- 25:35Speaker 1: know that is simp points immediately.
- 25:39Speaker 3: That's fair. That was and very violent. It is very
- 25:43Speaker 3: so if you went into it not knowing that, right, like, yeah,
- 25:47Speaker 3: I guess you're right. I could see that. Yeah, I
- 25:49Speaker 3: still hate it, but you know, okay, that's fine.
- 25:52Speaker 1: I feel you.
- 25:53Speaker 3: But yeah, the puppy thing. So let's just get into it.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Let's go into our hot take.
- 25:59Speaker 4: Hot take.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Oh that's a hot take. That's a hot take.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Uh, steam off the dog poop? I forgot we had
- 26:10Speaker 3: to do one of those. Cool, I'll go first. I
- 26:15Speaker 3: like this movie a lot, Like I said, this one
- 26:17Speaker 3: surprised me. I sort of thought it was just gonna
- 26:19Speaker 3: be another action movie that was kind of a throwaway.
- 26:24Speaker 3: I was excited to see Keanu in something again because
- 26:26Speaker 3: I don't that's a good point, Sammy, what was his Like?
- 26:30Speaker 3: Was there a pretty long break? Because I feel like
- 26:32Speaker 3: there was and I know you said that. Let me
- 26:35Speaker 3: pull it up for a movies. Sorry, should have been
- 26:42Speaker 3: prepared let's see, Yeah, because he hadn't really done anything
- 26:47Speaker 3: big since I did a couple things, but the last
- 26:54Speaker 3: big thing was like The lake House maybe and O
- 26:56Speaker 3: six a couple of smaller movie. He did do forty
- 27:03Speaker 3: seven Ronin, which was kind of big, right, Yeah, but yeah,
- 27:07Speaker 3: so he was doing stuff, but nothing like super out
- 27:10Speaker 3: there you know in the world. I remember being like, oh, cool, Keanu,
- 27:14Speaker 3: this will be fun. But I think this movie is
- 27:18Speaker 3: like way cooler than it needed to be. Like it
- 27:21Speaker 3: could have just been an action movie and it is
- 27:24Speaker 3: full of action and hyper violent and all those things.
- 27:26Speaker 3: But I think it's a really fun, like in a
- 27:31Speaker 3: modern day setting cowboy story about a man just going
- 27:34Speaker 3: for revenge and sort of like you know, at the
- 27:36Speaker 3: end of his rope in absence of hope, and like
- 27:39Speaker 3: also having to kind of deal with his past experiences.
- 27:42Speaker 3: I'm a real sucker for that like high concept of
- 27:46Speaker 3: I got out of this world and now I'm sort
- 27:48Speaker 3: of being dragged back into it, right, Like, I think
- 27:50Speaker 3: that's always super effective and it makes for really fun
- 27:54Speaker 3: subtexting conversations where it's like you can tell these characters
- 27:58Speaker 3: have such a history and we don't really need to
- 28:00Speaker 3: know what it is. It's just fun to kind of
- 28:02Speaker 3: know and build off that. I think world building wise,
- 28:06Speaker 3: that's really fun. I think this movie and Up have
- 28:10Speaker 3: two of the more crushing opening sequences of any movie,
- 28:15Speaker 3: which I.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Thought it had been a good top five.
- 28:18Speaker 3: I know, I thought of that and I was like,
- 28:20Speaker 3: I not till later, obviously after we had discussed ours,
- 28:23Speaker 3: but I was just like, I was, really, I found
- 28:28Speaker 3: it funny that I found a parallel between Up and
- 28:30Speaker 3: this because.
- 28:30Speaker 1: It is funny.
- 28:31Speaker 3: It's very different films but really effective, like not a
- 28:36Speaker 3: lot of words in their sequences and you know, all
- 28:39Speaker 3: that stuff that really take you on a journey, which
- 28:41Speaker 3: was really fun. I did think it was funny that,
- 28:45Speaker 3: like some of the you can tell it's a lower
- 28:48Speaker 3: budget film because some of the CG stuff doesn't look
- 28:52Speaker 3: particularly great, like specifically that I don't know. This is
- 28:55Speaker 3: the second time I brought it up now, which I
- 28:57Speaker 3: feel gross about. The dog poop is clearly just like
- 29:00Speaker 3: fake uh and is like a perfect like hoop emoji swirl,
- 29:05Speaker 3: which is weird. It looks like soft serve or something.
- 29:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I was gonna say, you mean the chocolate ice
- 29:10Speaker 4: cream emo?
- 29:11Speaker 3: Basically what you mean? Maybe that is what it was.
- 29:14Speaker 3: I don't know, But then like just he's holding the
- 29:17Speaker 3: dog at one point and that looks super fake, probably
- 29:20Speaker 3: because they didn't want the dog to like have to
- 29:21Speaker 3: play dead or whatever. I'm sure there's good reasons, right,
- 29:25Speaker 3: But then there's other stuff, like the practical action sequences
- 29:28Speaker 3: are all like pristine and beautiful and wonderful. Yeah, I
- 29:33Speaker 3: just I really enjoy this movie, and all the movies
- 29:36Speaker 3: that it spawned after that are super fun too. I
- 29:39Speaker 3: actually like genuinely think John Wick four. I know we're
- 29:42Speaker 3: not talking about that, but is a masterpiece, like.
- 29:44Speaker 1: It is that stare, that staircase scene.
- 29:48Speaker 3: It's insane, Like it didn't need to be a piece
- 29:50Speaker 3: of art. It could have just been another like action movie. Again,
- 29:53Speaker 3: but they they bring cool stuff into it. I think
- 29:56Speaker 3: they use some really cool music. I don't like of
- 30:00Speaker 3: Marilyn Manson just in general, but that we kill others
- 30:04Speaker 3: so we don't kill the people we love. Coming back
- 30:07Speaker 3: a couple of times as the song was really cool,
- 30:10Speaker 3: I thought and really said, like that was a that's
- 30:14Speaker 3: such a vibe, right, But yeah, I love characters that
- 30:18Speaker 3: have like questionable morals but also have a code, you know,
- 30:22Speaker 3: that sort of like like a lawful evil kind of
- 30:25Speaker 3: thing or something or lawful neutral maybe, but I just
- 30:29Speaker 3: like that Milieuse. So this this movie really worked for me.
- 30:31Speaker 3: I think it's super well done.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Hot take.
- 30:36Speaker 3: I used to say, we didn't like the puppy suck.
- 30:39Speaker 3: It sucks. Everything that happens with it sucks. Yes, Yeah,
- 30:43Speaker 3: I don't know if it's the same film if they
- 30:45Speaker 3: don't do that though, And that is interesting, like I
- 30:48Speaker 3: don't feel like because part of me thinks, like why
- 30:51Speaker 3: did they do that? And then I'm like, well, he
- 30:53Speaker 3: really did need that motivation, so maybe maybe it had
- 30:57Speaker 3: to be that way, I don't, you know, to like
- 30:59Speaker 3: give him that glimmer of hope or just something to
- 31:02Speaker 3: get up for every day.
- 31:03Speaker 5: And you know, well, I mean if you think, if
- 31:06Speaker 5: you think about it, like there's really it, Like you said,
- 31:09Speaker 5: it's that opening little sequence and then we're right into
- 31:13Speaker 5: the action for the rest of the movie. And with people,
- 31:19Speaker 5: I feel like we as viewers are a lot more
- 31:21Speaker 5: like all right, but.
- 31:22Speaker 6: But was the person good? Was the person bad?
- 31:24Speaker 5: With animals were like no, hardline, like you like.
- 31:29Speaker 3: That puppy is only good. Yeah, We're on.
- 31:32Speaker 5: Board with Keanu from the moment that happens, because it
- 31:35Speaker 5: doesn't you know, it doesn't matter if the puppy was good,
- 31:38Speaker 5: like it's a puppy.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, yeah, one hundred percent agree. It was super effective.
- 31:42Speaker 3: But I think my hot take is like that's the
- 31:45Speaker 3: right choice, which it sucks. I hate it, but yeah,
- 31:49Speaker 3: so that's the hottest take I have. That's a hot take.
- 31:52Speaker 1: That's a hot take thinks puppies should die. Wait a minute. Yeah,
- 32:02Speaker 1: I think this movie kicks ass, and have thought it
- 32:05Speaker 1: since the first time I saw it in the theater.
- 32:08Speaker 1: I clearly remember seeing it in the theater. I was
- 32:10Speaker 1: on tour Austin Brown and I went and saw it
- 32:13Speaker 1: and he this was before I think I met you, Sammy,
- 32:17Speaker 1: because he freaked out when you were on screen. He's like,
- 32:22Speaker 1: that's that's Sammy, oh my, and like he he was
- 32:26Speaker 1: kind of obnoxious in the theater.
- 32:27Speaker 4: I'm like, dude, there are.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Like other people here we got Yeah, but yeah, the same.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Oh for sure, I know I would have too, but yeah,
- 32:39Speaker 1: I'll always remember that. This was Chad the Heelski's directorial debut.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I thought he did a great job. He has so
- 32:47Speaker 1: far only directed four films and they are all the
- 32:50Speaker 1: John Wick films, which is kind of great.
- 32:53Speaker 3: Yeah, why would you ever do anything different? You know?
- 32:55Speaker 1: I see that he has a lot of stuff that's
- 32:58Speaker 1: coming out soon.
- 32:59Speaker 6: But nice, I think wasn't he involved with the Fall Guy.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Probably would make so much sense.
- 33:06Speaker 4: I saw that.
- 33:08Speaker 1: I saw that he was Keanu's stunt man for the Matrix, right,
- 33:13Speaker 1: and the Matrix.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Film that's what it was.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Yeah, and he has switched over to directing
- 33:18Speaker 1: these awesome action films, which makes a lot of sense.
- 33:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 33:21Speaker 1: The action is unbelievable in this I couldn't believe the
- 33:26Speaker 1: kind of things that Keanu Reeves was doing in this movie.
- 33:28Speaker 1: He would have been fifty at the time, yep, and
- 33:32Speaker 1: just doing a lot of really physical, demanding things, and
- 33:34Speaker 1: he kept doing He kind of kept getting more and
- 33:37Speaker 1: more intense throughout this series of films. I love a
- 33:42Speaker 1: revenge movie and loved how he is out for revenge
- 33:46Speaker 1: and will stop at nothing to get it. I thought
- 33:50Speaker 1: that it was shot really cool. Yeah. I really enjoyed
- 33:54Speaker 1: the Continental and how that whole society works. I always
- 33:59Speaker 1: felt like that to have been a good idea for a
- 34:01Speaker 1: TV show, and I saw that they did make it one. Yeah.
- 34:07Speaker 3: I never watched it, but yeah, it's on Peacock.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I guess, and I think that that would be really
- 34:12Speaker 1: fun to check out because ever since I saw that,
- 34:14Speaker 1: I was like, I could watch a whole thing just
- 34:16Speaker 1: like how this works.
- 34:18Speaker 3: It's perfect for that almost Yeah, I love that good call.
- 34:22Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't really have like a hot take.
- 34:24Speaker 1: I think this is super badass, and it's just as
- 34:28Speaker 1: bad ass ten years later, I think, because there is
- 34:32Speaker 1: so much practical effects and hand to hand stuff. But yeah,
- 34:36Speaker 1: it's awesome, big.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Fan, amazing hot take, pal hot. I love it, Sammy,
- 34:42Speaker 3: what you do think, Sammy?
- 34:43Speaker 5: Well, I sort of touched on it, but I you know,
- 34:46Speaker 5: I'm I think probably before John Wick, I wasn't really
- 34:50Speaker 5: you know, like I saw the Pirates of the Caribbean, like,
- 34:53Speaker 5: but I wasn't really into like adventure or action movies
- 35:00Speaker 5: that much before that. And I'm definitely not someone who's like.
- 35:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I love watching people shoot each other.
- 35:06Speaker 5: So so I I really didn't know what to expect
- 35:11Speaker 5: going into it. I thought, oh, this will just be
- 35:13Speaker 5: fun to see a movie that I might see myself in,
- 35:16Speaker 5: because I didn't even know if I would.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Oh, that's always so crazy to me. Too, like no
- 35:22Speaker 3: one ever shoots you as an email or you know,
- 35:26Speaker 3: so funny.
- 35:26Speaker 5: Yeah, so I, like I said, I walked out of
- 35:31Speaker 5: the theater like, okay, wait, that was like actually really good, right,
- 35:35Speaker 5: And like you said, it's it was surprising for me
- 35:40Speaker 5: because I there's not a lot of plot, which is
- 35:44Speaker 5: typically why Like there's the character development, like the that's
- 35:48Speaker 5: usually what draws me to a movie, and there's there's
- 35:51Speaker 5: really none of that. He's pretty much the same guy
- 35:53Speaker 5: he started as, except he's he's.
- 35:57Speaker 6: Just re entering a world he left.
- 35:59Speaker 5: Is really the only difference, and now he has a
- 36:02Speaker 5: stronger purpose maybe, but there's not like some big, you know,
- 36:06Speaker 5: meaning behind all of it.
- 36:08Speaker 6: It's just a.
- 36:09Speaker 5: Really fun, really well made action movie. So it's kind
- 36:15Speaker 5: of surprising that it's been gripping all of us for
- 36:19Speaker 5: four movies, but right they it's just done so well.
- 36:22Speaker 5: And Chad Stahowski, I think is a huge, huge reason
- 36:26Speaker 5: for that.
- 36:28Speaker 6: And I think.
- 36:30Speaker 5: Movie a movie like The Fall Guy is testament to
- 36:33Speaker 5: that when someone is so passionate.
- 36:35Speaker 6: About stunts and.
- 36:38Speaker 5: Doing it right like that is something that I can
- 36:40Speaker 5: say from being on the set during like the biggest
- 36:43Speaker 5: fight scene in the whole movie.
- 36:45Speaker 6: It was there was so much care put into every.
- 36:49Speaker 5: Punch, like everything, and I think that you can feel
- 36:53Speaker 5: that when you watch this movie.
- 36:54Speaker 6: It's it's sure, it's there was so much thought and
- 36:58Speaker 6: care put into it. And yeah, I just I don't.
- 37:01Speaker 6: I don't have a hot take either.
- 37:02Speaker 5: I just who knew I would love a movie with
- 37:05Speaker 5: so much guns?
- 37:09Speaker 3: Yeah, no gun enthusiasts, Sammy, I love it. Well hot takes, y'all.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Let's go in and talk about our favorite acting performance.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Let's name the dude the dude.
- 37:22Speaker 7: I'm the dude, So that's what you call me, you
- 37:25Speaker 7: know that or his duds or duder or you know
- 37:31Speaker 7: eldud reno if you're not into the whole brevity.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Thing, I mean other than Sammy, Right, Sammy, Yes, she
- 37:40Speaker 3: was dancing and swaying. You owned it, get it.
- 37:43Speaker 6: I'm the dude.
- 37:44Speaker 1: That's what you call me, exactly.
- 37:49Speaker 3: I'm going to put that in the intro now, Yes,
- 37:52Speaker 3: excited Sammy, who's your what's your favorite acting performance?
- 37:56Speaker 6: I mean I literally didn't even think about it. I
- 37:59Speaker 6: just put it. I just cook on it down.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Same.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a movie, like I mean.
- 38:06Speaker 5: I know, I don't have more than three days of
- 38:11Speaker 5: knowledge that anyone else doesn't have. But like, seriously, I
- 38:16Speaker 5: the one thing I took away and I talk about
- 38:18Speaker 5: to everyone is like his like concentration and dedication watching
- 38:24Speaker 5: him those three days. He cared so much about it,
- 38:28Speaker 5: and you know, like it's not the biggest emotional arc
- 38:33Speaker 5: for him to have played in the world, but like
- 38:36Speaker 5: he just he is John Wick now to me, you know, yeah,
- 38:41Speaker 5: I just thought I thought he was incredible in this.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Also, like one of our few super famous actors that
- 38:50Speaker 3: I don't think I've ever heard a negative thing about
- 38:52Speaker 3: even once, you know what I mean, Like everyone's just
- 38:55Speaker 3: like lovely human being.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Yeah. I had actually heard one time he was in
- 39:01Speaker 1: that movie. It was Bram Stoker's Dracula, and he had
- 39:04Speaker 1: got a lot of flak for not being very good
- 39:07Speaker 1: in that movie. But the director of it was like,
- 39:11Speaker 1: he's just like so nice. I couldn't like give him
- 39:16Speaker 1: to give him direction.
- 39:17Speaker 3: That's hilarious.
- 39:18Speaker 6: Wow.
- 39:22Speaker 1: But yeah, he's absolutely incredible in this. And what you
- 39:27Speaker 1: can tell that he dedicated a lot of time to
- 39:31Speaker 1: figuring out how to fight like that, how to shoot
- 39:34Speaker 1: like that. I just can't even imagine the prep that
- 39:39Speaker 1: it took yeah, yeah, he was incredible.
- 39:43Speaker 3: He's super duper believable as like this almost you know,
- 39:47Speaker 3: superhero like character, which is pretty wild, Like that's that
- 39:50Speaker 3: can't be easy to do. Yeah, I'm with you, guys,
- 39:52Speaker 3: one hundred percent. I think he's wonderful and I think
- 39:55Speaker 3: I feel like he does get Listen, he's thrown out
- 39:58Speaker 3: some stinkers, you know, or movie that aren't like maybe amazing.
- 40:01Speaker 3: I think he's a really good actor though overall, you know,
- 40:05Speaker 3: like again, some things don't hit, but I just don't
- 40:08Speaker 3: think everything can hit always either, you know, so it
- 40:12Speaker 3: just is what it is. But I think he's wonderful.
- 40:14Speaker 3: I love him.
- 40:15Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I think so.
- 40:17Speaker 3: Nice. Well, let's talk about there's a lot of other
- 40:19Speaker 3: folks in this movie. Let's go on to the Tucci Award,
- 40:25Speaker 3: whichever this one, Sammy I put on.
- 40:29Speaker 6: The wrong page. I put Oh, Lance Reddick.
- 40:33Speaker 3: I love yes, I love it.
- 40:37Speaker 6: What is he like the concierge at the Continental? Yeah, yeah, yeah, he.
- 40:44Speaker 5: I think the first time I watched it, I didn't
- 40:48Speaker 5: really pay that part of the movie, like those parts
- 40:53Speaker 5: of the movie as much attention. And then when he
- 40:56Speaker 5: passed away, Adam was like, you know, he was in
- 40:59Speaker 5: John Wick and I was like, who and he was
- 41:02Speaker 5: in your movie?
- 41:03Speaker 1: You know.
- 41:04Speaker 5: I was like, if he's not Alfie Allen or Keanu Reeves,
- 41:07Speaker 5: I don't, I don't know, I shouldn't, but uh we
- 41:12Speaker 5: rewatched all of the movies, you know, when the fourth
- 41:14Speaker 5: one was coming out, and uh, I paid a lot
- 41:18Speaker 5: more attention to him, and I was like, I just love.
- 41:21Speaker 6: His subtle tea and his Yes, he brought a lot
- 41:25Speaker 6: of like.
- 41:27Speaker 5: A different flavor of like what you what your personality
- 41:31Speaker 5: can be like and still be in this world. Like
- 41:34Speaker 5: he's not hard like john Wick, but he's got like
- 41:38Speaker 5: softness and subtle tea.
- 41:40Speaker 6: It was, it was I I, Yeah, I love him.
- 41:43Speaker 1: And I was just gonna say, he's got such a
- 41:46Speaker 1: soothing voice.
- 41:49Speaker 4: Yeah, he always seems so calm.
- 41:51Speaker 1: And like cool and collected. I remember that from The
- 41:55Speaker 1: Wire too. Yes, we had a couple of Wire guys,
- 41:58Speaker 1: him and Peters, who also has a great voice.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right for sure.
- 42:05Speaker 1: But yeah, that's that's a good call. I definitely put
- 42:07Speaker 1: him down.
- 42:08Speaker 4: I actually I put down Michael Nyquist.
- 42:13Speaker 1: He was vego. Yeah, and pretty much just for his
- 42:18Speaker 1: monologue explaining who John Wick is to his son like,
- 42:22Speaker 1: do you realize who you have messed with?
- 42:25Speaker 3: Yeah, and it was.
- 42:27Speaker 1: It was pretty cool and it was kind of the
- 42:29Speaker 1: It wasn't just his performance. I thought the the filmmaking
- 42:32Speaker 1: in that sequence is pretty great too.
- 42:35Speaker 3: But he's also passed away. Did you know that?
- 42:38Speaker 1: Because I didn't know that looked this time. Yeah, and
- 42:41Speaker 1: he was. I was familiar with him because he was
- 42:45Speaker 1: the the in the Swedish version of The Girl with
- 42:50Speaker 1: the Dragon till Yeah, he was Michil Ankvist. Yeah.
- 42:56Speaker 3: He was also the bad guy in one of the
- 42:57Speaker 3: Ghost Products or in one of the Mission Impops movies. Right,
- 43:01Speaker 3: maybe maybe I don't know if he was a bad guy.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't remember. Yeah, I thought I thought he was.
- 43:09Speaker 1: I thought he was pretty great in this. And I
- 43:11Speaker 1: love that they didn't they didn't try and because you know,
- 43:15Speaker 1: they have like a showdown at the end, and it's
- 43:18Speaker 1: not like a lot of times they'll take a guy
- 43:21Speaker 1: who clearly can't beat up the main guy but make
- 43:24Speaker 1: it like really close. Yeah, and I'm glad that they
- 43:27Speaker 1: didn't do that with this, you know.
- 43:30Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, I love that. Those are both great picks
- 43:35Speaker 3: going down the list. I love John Leguizamo, so much
- 43:38Speaker 3: in so many things, but he's fun and he doesn't
- 43:42Speaker 3: get to do a ton in this, but man, he's
- 43:45Speaker 3: good in it, like him having the drink ready and
- 43:48Speaker 3: like immediately knowing John's going to show up, but you know,
- 43:51Speaker 3: just all the things right of just like I just
- 43:54Speaker 3: want you to know it wasn't me, and like because
- 43:56Speaker 3: he really sets the table too for us, being like,
- 43:59Speaker 3: oh ship, John's like a guy, Like he's a dude
- 44:02Speaker 3: in this world and that's interesting, you know, like him
- 44:06Speaker 3: and obviously Neckquist as well, like you said, Rob for sure,
- 44:08Speaker 3: but uh, I really loved what he brought to the table.
- 44:12Speaker 3: I thought it was really fun for sure. Ian McShane,
- 44:17Speaker 3: what a what a dream?
- 44:18Speaker 1: Another great voice.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Another great voice, and he's so fun and he gets
- 44:23Speaker 3: to like really shine I feel like in later movies
- 44:26Speaker 3: even more obviously, but man, he's he's so fun. And
- 44:31Speaker 3: then a special shout out to Kevin Nash, who is
- 44:35Speaker 3: a WWE wrestler. He is Francis the guy who he's
- 44:40Speaker 3: like outside the club. Yeah, he's the bouncer outside the
- 44:44Speaker 3: club that he's like, maybe you take the night off,
- 44:46Speaker 3: you know, and all that stuff. But he's an old
- 44:49Speaker 3: school wrestler who I love, and I thought he was
- 44:51Speaker 3: pretty good for one line, you know.
- 44:55Speaker 1: So one of the runner ups, did you guys have
- 44:58Speaker 1: I mean, Willem Dafoe you gotta talk him was amazing.
- 45:01Speaker 1: I was kind of honestly forgot that he was in
- 45:04Speaker 1: this movie. They have been a while since i'd seen it. Yeah,
- 45:09Speaker 1: but yeah, he's he's always good. He's always solid and
- 45:13Speaker 1: honestly kind of underutilized. He you know, isn't in it
- 45:17Speaker 1: that much.
- 45:17Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good call.
- 45:20Speaker 1: But yeah, there's other people.
- 45:21Speaker 3: I mean, Wow, I guess I really like him a lot.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Probably we mentioned him earlier.
- 45:28Speaker 3: But yeah, yeah, he is wonderfully hateable.
- 45:32Speaker 1: That guy just like.
- 45:37Speaker 3: Like lovable somehow, you know what I mean. I don't know,
- 45:40Speaker 3: it's interesting he was right, that was his Yeah yeah,
- 45:44Speaker 3: great joy.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Great joy. Yeah.
- 45:49Speaker 3: But yeah, I thought he was good in this. He didn't.
- 45:52Speaker 3: It's funny because he is like a bigger part in this.
- 45:54Speaker 3: But I don't feel like he gets to do a
- 45:56Speaker 3: whole lot, to be honest, you know, like he's mostly
- 45:59Speaker 3: treaty acted. You know, it's.
- 46:01Speaker 4: Pretty one notey.
- 46:02Speaker 1: He's he's real uh, privileged and spoiled and pretty horrible clearly, Yeah.
- 46:11Speaker 3: But he's good. Like I'm not, you know, trying to
- 46:13Speaker 3: take away from him, but it's just kind of like
- 46:15Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, that's that's who he is, and
- 46:17Speaker 3: that's about all we get from him, you know. Yeah,
- 46:19Speaker 3: and even his dad is like not my favorite, you know, yeah,
- 46:24Speaker 3: that great of a cant or whatever. I love him.
- 46:27Speaker 3: Did you have any other runners up?
- 46:29Speaker 6: Sammy, you guys said it.
- 46:31Speaker 5: I was going to say Willem Dafoe because I love
- 46:33Speaker 5: him and everything he's so.
- 46:35Speaker 6: Yeah, he's one of my favorite actors I think probably,
- 46:38Speaker 6: and he.
- 46:38Speaker 1: Picks a lot of a lot of cool stuff too.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a wonderful Yeah, yes, I agree.
- 46:48Speaker 1: But just to mention other people, Bridget moynihan is the
- 46:51Speaker 1: wife that passed away a very small role for her.
- 46:57Speaker 1: I recognized Dean Winters. He's in the commercials where he's
- 47:02Speaker 1: always I remember, which he's always beat up.
- 47:06Speaker 6: Oh yes, yes, yes, insurance insurance.
- 47:11Speaker 3: Character. Yeah, that poor guy, because he's good. But it's
- 47:16Speaker 3: like that's all I picture anytime I see.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, he's Mayhem, which.
- 47:21Speaker 3: A golden you know, golden goose thing to have.
- 47:24Speaker 1: He's doing also, yeah, he's doing very well. And then
- 47:28Speaker 1: that Adrian Plicki, who was what was her name? Perkins? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 47:36Speaker 1: so a lot of very recognizable people in very very
- 47:39Speaker 1: small roles. Yeah, it was great. Why don't we move
- 47:44Speaker 1: on to our favorite scene and let's choose the dingus
- 47:50Speaker 1: son is quite simple, really, Dingus Dingus.
- 47:53Speaker 3: I could talk about my dingus all night long.
- 47:56Speaker 1: This one seems pretty easy. But we'll let Sammy go first.
- 47:59Speaker 6: Yes, Sammy, I mean I wrote only one. I just
- 48:03Speaker 6: wrote the club scene.
- 48:06Speaker 3: There's like whichever scene I'm meant that's the most ic scene. No,
- 48:10Speaker 3: I'm just kidding. No, it's got to be that, right.
- 48:13Speaker 5: I mean I can't even remember. I feel like it's
- 48:15Speaker 5: like twenty minute long scene and.
- 48:17Speaker 1: It might be long, yeah, but it's like the whole act.
- 48:21Speaker 5: Twenty minutes of like just like you're just like yeah,
- 48:25Speaker 5: and you know me, I'm watching like this because it's
- 48:28Speaker 5: so gory and like wow tense, but uh yeah, I
- 48:33Speaker 5: mean it's just so.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Fun it is, and it's I mean, there's a lot
- 48:40Speaker 1: of great action scenes in these movies. This is for
- 48:43Speaker 1: sure the top two or three scenes, and it just
- 48:47Speaker 1: starts it off so well, like he takes down so
- 48:52Speaker 1: many dudes in this I mean, there's got to be
- 48:54Speaker 1: like twenty kills just in that nightclub, like it was.
- 48:59Speaker 1: It was pretty nuts.
- 49:00Speaker 6: It's like, you know what's interesting to me.
- 49:03Speaker 5: In a lot of action movies, I get like I
- 49:05Speaker 5: rolly because they'll have a sequence where like, like I
- 49:12Speaker 5: love Star Wars so much, but sometimes it's like a
- 49:14Speaker 5: stormtrooper against a you know, like a little guy, and
- 49:18Speaker 5: the little guy like punches the stormtrooper.
- 49:21Speaker 6: And they go down, and I'm.
- 49:23Speaker 5: Like, right, yeah, but every every hit everything in this sequence,
- 49:30Speaker 5: I'm like, yeah, buy that.
- 49:31Speaker 6: Yeah, I buy that. He's incapacitated now right.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not just like one punch and he's knocked out. Yeah.
- 49:38Speaker 3: And also, like John Wick gets hit a lot, right,
- 49:40Speaker 3: which helps, you know, so he's not like invulnerable. He's unstoppable,
- 49:45Speaker 3: but not invulnerable. I think it's very important.
- 49:48Speaker 6: That Sorry I interrupted you, Bukes.
- 49:51Speaker 3: No, it's okay. I'm sure it was nothing important. I
- 49:53Speaker 3: don't remember what it was. I agree.
- 49:59Speaker 1: I mean, that's for sure. The Red Circle scene, The
- 50:02Speaker 1: Red Circle Absolutely, that's number one.
- 50:07Speaker 4: I guess.
- 50:07Speaker 1: A runner up for me is when he's tied up
- 50:11Speaker 1: and he's yeah, I'm thinking I'm back and amazing it's cool.
- 50:19Speaker 1: It gets you pumped up for sure. Then William Defoe
- 50:22Speaker 1: helps him get out of the situation, and it's, uh yeah,
- 50:26Speaker 1: I just love that just because we finally see like
- 50:30Speaker 1: him really get pissed, Like, yeah, it was fun.
- 50:36Speaker 3: Yeah, those are great. I feel like I already said
- 50:43Speaker 3: this too, But my runner up would be the the
- 50:46Speaker 3: scene where we're getting like the world building of like,
- 50:50Speaker 3: oh John Wick, you know, like and he's explaining like
- 50:54Speaker 3: he's Baba Jega and explaining all the things he's done.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Yeah twist you're talking about talking to I love that
- 51:02Speaker 1: scene so much.
- 51:04Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just really like you can feel the tension
- 51:07Speaker 3: being ratcheted up, right, and then the rest of it
- 51:10Speaker 3: is kind of just that being unspooled. I feel like
- 51:12Speaker 3: almost you know, was that so great?
- 51:16Speaker 1: Was John Wick a comic series? I don't think so,
- 51:21Speaker 1: or like a graphic novel series it should be.
- 51:23Speaker 3: Though.
- 51:24Speaker 6: The other reason I.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Ask is because the when in that scene and they
- 51:30Speaker 1: have like, uh, the little subtitles, it's almost in like
- 51:35Speaker 1: comic book. It's cool, right, Yeah, it's cool. I like that.
- 51:40Speaker 3: It does seem like it's that style. I mean, it's
- 51:43Speaker 3: not dissimilar to like the Ronan stories that we've seen before,
- 51:47Speaker 3: and those are definitely I mean, there's a number of
- 51:50Speaker 3: them that are kind of that style. So it's probably,
- 51:55Speaker 3: you know, heavily based on some of these things, but
- 51:58Speaker 3: I don't think it's direct like an adaptation cool from
- 52:03Speaker 3: what anything I read anyway, And.
- 52:04Speaker 1: I could absolutely be wrong, but yeah, it's not. You're right.
- 52:11Speaker 3: Just to say a difference. I love when they bring
- 52:13Speaker 3: Miss Perkins to the what is that place in It's
- 52:17Speaker 3: in New York.
- 52:17Speaker 1: City in Central Park, Yeah, with the big like Yeah,
- 52:24Speaker 1: I've been in that structure before for sure. I've like
- 52:27Speaker 1: seen people get they go there. Yeah, I've seen people
- 52:31Speaker 1: like taking marriage photos and stuff or like wedding photos.
- 52:35Speaker 3: There the bridge, Yeah, where they go underneath and Miss
- 52:39Speaker 3: Perkins gets shot by Ian McShane and the Four Dudes
- 52:43Speaker 3: or whatever.
- 52:43Speaker 6: I've taken photos there. It's Yeah, it's beautiful.
- 52:47Speaker 3: You know what that's called? Like, does it have a
- 52:48Speaker 3: specific name? It probably does. I just don't know.
- 52:51Speaker 6: It probably does. Yeah, I have no idea.
- 52:53Speaker 3: Well look it up. It's in Central Park.
- 52:55Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:57Speaker 3: I just like that scene just again from the like
- 53:01Speaker 3: a group of people who aren't you know, they don't
- 53:05Speaker 3: believe in the laws that all the rest of us believe,
- 53:07Speaker 3: but they still have laws, you know, and guidelines for themselves.
- 53:10Speaker 3: I always think that's fun, So I just like that scene.
- 53:13Speaker 3: But yeah, it's the crazy nightclub stuff for me. The
- 53:17Speaker 3: red Circle, nice red Circle, the red Dingus. I guess
- 53:22Speaker 3: that seems there. It is like that was necessary to say,
- 53:25Speaker 3: let's go on to our favorite quote. It's time to
- 53:28Speaker 3: show me the money, show me. Not a ton of
- 53:37Speaker 3: lines in this movie, so this will be interesting, Sammy,
- 53:40Speaker 3: what do you got for your favorite quote?
- 53:43Speaker 5: I mean literally, I was like, it's not a not
- 53:45Speaker 5: a lot of memorable quotes in this one. The only
- 53:50Speaker 5: one I put is, yeah, I'm thinking I'm back, Right, that's.
- 53:54Speaker 3: For sure so good that man, that whole that whole scene,
- 54:00Speaker 3: like that monologue that he does there is so fun.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Or you could die with it, you know.
- 54:05Speaker 3: It's like, yeah, you're scary, so.
- 54:08Speaker 1: You can either hand over your son or you can
- 54:10Speaker 1: die screaming alongside him.
- 54:12Speaker 3: Is pretty Yeah, but yeah, the I'm thinking I'm back
- 54:17Speaker 3: is just it's wonderfully unhinged.
- 54:20Speaker 1: I love that. That's a great call. That is definitely
- 54:22Speaker 1: the one I think of with this movie, for sure.
- 54:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that. Any others, Well, maybe we should
- 54:30Speaker 3: do one each and then do more.
- 54:32Speaker 1: Yeah, seriously. Yeah. The next one I did was just
- 54:39Speaker 1: after Vigo is talking to Johnny's trying to like be like, hey,
- 54:45Speaker 1: let's be civilized, and he hangs up and his like
- 54:48Speaker 1: henchman is like what do you say enough? He's like,
- 54:51Speaker 1: oh god, he said task your crew. He's like, huh
- 54:54Speaker 1: how many? It's like, how many do you have?
- 54:58Speaker 3: Love that?
- 54:58Speaker 1: Ye?
- 54:59Speaker 3: Love the That's really great. I wrote for one of mine,
- 55:04Speaker 3: the phone call between uh, what's what's his name? The
- 55:09Speaker 3: video niquist and and John Leguizamo when he calls him
- 55:15Speaker 3: and he's like, I heard you struck my son, Yes, sir,
- 55:17Speaker 3: I did? May I ask why? Well, because he sold
- 55:21Speaker 3: John wicks car, sir, and he killed his dog and
- 55:23Speaker 3: he just goes, oh it hangs up. I just love
- 55:27Speaker 3: that line so much. Yeah, just again the like building
- 55:32Speaker 3: of like oh yeah, just like oh no.
- 55:36Speaker 1: Yeah. When he's explaining it to his son, he's like, well,
- 55:40Speaker 1: John wasn't exactly the boogeyman. He was the one you
- 55:43Speaker 1: sent to kill the boogey man.
- 55:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought that for sure. I also had Freid
- 55:51Speaker 3: so Francis, Why don't you take the night off? Which
- 55:57Speaker 3: I love. And apparently what he says to him before
- 55:59Speaker 3: then is he says something about twenty, which is how
- 56:03Speaker 3: many people are in the building, like how many guards,
- 56:06Speaker 3: and so they people think that's why he let him go.
- 56:09Speaker 1: So I saw that in the trivia as well. But
- 56:12Speaker 1: so it said twenty kilograms or something.
- 56:16Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm pretty sure weight or something, right, but.
- 56:19Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure he said sixty pounds, which then is
- 56:23Speaker 1: that twenty is at twenty kilograms, And so he did
- 56:27Speaker 1: the twenty like he did the conversion in his head,
- 56:31Speaker 1: just like.
- 56:32Speaker 3: Yeah, that's interesting. I don't know either.
- 56:34Speaker 1: Yeah, anyway, that's good. I saw that in the trivia.
- 56:38Speaker 1: I was like, but that's not what he said. But
- 56:40Speaker 1: anyway it is.
- 56:41Speaker 3: I mean that would be roughly right right, It's like, yeah, but.
- 56:46Speaker 4: Yeah, it seemed like a stretch to me.
- 56:48Speaker 3: That's fairh that's fair. Did we have any other lines?
- 56:54Speaker 1: I didn't. Those are the ones I wrote down again
- 56:56Speaker 1: not known for analog and.
- 56:59Speaker 3: These super talky. Uh. Should we move on then to
- 57:04Speaker 3: bugs boo who moment?
- 57:07Speaker 6: Wow?
- 57:07Speaker 1: Yes, I picked three, and they're all very early in
- 57:11Speaker 1: the movie when we see that his wife had died
- 57:16Speaker 1: during the flashback.
- 57:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not a monster, of course.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Of course.
- 57:21Speaker 3: Uh, they were like, you need to make them care.
- 57:24Speaker 3: We'll get for sure, for sure.
- 57:28Speaker 1: And then when when Daisy arrives and he breaks down
- 57:33Speaker 1: like reading the letter.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Yes, that's great, puppy name day it.
- 57:38Speaker 1: Is, that's what Tim and Jenna name there dog. So cute,
- 57:42Speaker 1: so cute. And then when the dog dies and he's
- 57:48Speaker 1: buried it yep, and then it's just revenge and unhinge
- 57:56Speaker 1: and yeah. So I think those are the three times.
- 57:59Speaker 3: I love it, Sammy, did you have any others that
- 58:02Speaker 3: you thought were there?
- 58:04Speaker 6: Those are the three I would have said.
- 58:06Speaker 3: You guys nailed it. It's just three again, there exactly
- 58:09Speaker 3: those three. Good work.
- 58:10Speaker 1: Boom.
- 58:11Speaker 3: I thought when he found the dog at the end
- 58:13Speaker 3: it would get me, but it didn't.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:15Speaker 4: Same, same, I did, like, I mean.
- 58:17Speaker 1: I liked it, yeah, same.
- 58:19Speaker 3: Yeah, let's go home.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Yeah, crying home, that's fun.
- 58:24Speaker 3: I love that. Well, great work. Uh that is more
- 58:28Speaker 3: than the number of movies we've done recently, which is
- 58:31Speaker 3: kind of fun.
- 58:31Speaker 1: So yeah, we were due for some boohoos.
- 58:34Speaker 3: Indeed, indeed, let's go ahead and do some movie trivia now.
- 58:39Speaker 3: According to Keanu Reeves he did ninety percent of his
- 58:42Speaker 3: own stunts for this film, which is a lot. That's
- 58:44Speaker 3: pretty impressive and sounds like that tracks with what you saw, Sammy.
- 58:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I was.
- 58:51Speaker 5: I was trying to think of if I watched any
- 58:55Speaker 5: that he didn't do. And yes, there was the you
- 59:00Speaker 5: know the part where he gets thrown off the.
- 59:05Speaker 3: Dance floor.
- 59:06Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah they did. He did do it, so
- 59:12Speaker 6: he like he did it.
- 59:14Speaker 5: But then the stunt double also did it to like
- 59:17Speaker 5: so they could you know.
- 59:19Speaker 3: Splice stump or something or whatever.
- 59:21Speaker 5: Ye, yeah, while the body was falling, they could splice
- 59:25Speaker 5: between Okay, so like.
- 59:28Speaker 6: Even that, he still did it, but they just was.
- 59:31Speaker 1: It onto like a mat or something, yes, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 59:36Speaker 5: And then they had the stunt double like drop. I
- 59:39Speaker 5: can't remember exactly how they did it, but they.
- 59:41Speaker 3: He like a shorter distance made to actually hit the ground.
- 59:45Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, that's cool.
- 59:47Speaker 6: It was wild. It was so cool.
- 59:49Speaker 3: Yeah, that's yeah.
- 59:50Speaker 6: He even he did it. He just they had to.
- 59:54Speaker 6: He didn't do like the most dangerous part.
- 59:56Speaker 3: That is a brutal shot.
- 59:57Speaker 1: I'm always just like, yeah, yeah, you're going to feel
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: that one in the morning.
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: Sure, Yeah, ouch, what's crazy? About stunts to me too,
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: is like they have to be hurt like it. Yes,
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: they're doing it in a safe way, but like I
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: was watching them like, yeah, this can't be like nice.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: It's not like it's a hundred percent safe right now?
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: There was Did you ever watch that? And I don't
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: know that I recommend it because it is very sad.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: But the Harry Potter Stunt Guy documentary did you watch that? Sammy?
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: You want to boohoo? Man?
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: I cried for days.
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: I feel like like, oh yeah, I like the whole time.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: But it's really cool, I mean super interesting. Maybe it
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: cools the wrong descriptor yeah, but yeah. Adrian Uh Adrian
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Adrian uh Policki, who plays Perkins, also did all of
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: her own stunts, which I.
- 1:00:55Speaker 6: Thought was that's cool.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: Yeah, she was a badass in that so that was fun. Yeah. See,
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: Keanu learned and memorized the nightclub fight sequence the day
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: that the scene was filmed. So he learned that and
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: then did it that same day, And that seems I mean,
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: I've tried to learn, you know, some very light choreography
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: in my time, and a day would not do it
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: for me.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: Well, I mean, we know it was three days right that.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: Yeah, so just must have been one specific sequence or something.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: Maybe they had to change something or who knows. I guess.
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: Well, I mean it makes sense for like what I remember,
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: because I said like in between every take he was
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: rehearsing it, So that would make sense if he had
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: just learned it, and he was because it literally, I
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: mean cameras are off, he goes into a safe space
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: and he is just like literally doing it.
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: Yeah, that's really cool.
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: Which I can't let this episode end without talking about
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: the best story that I have.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: I oh, yes, do yes, it's.
- 1:01:58Speaker 6: Like my talk show story. So they in between.
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: Shots, they're you know, like wrangling everybody. They've set the
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: lights up so they're ready to get the extras in.
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: So some PA grabs me and they're like, okay you
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: and they're moving me, and Keanu is in this corner,
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: you know, rehearsing like this, and.
- 1:02:24Speaker 6: I mean yeah, but he's.
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: You know, like punching and rehearsing, and this PA is
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: moving me kind of appsent mindedly. They have to move quickly,
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: and she's moving me past him because they're setting up this.
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: I mean it's like a two second moment because everything
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: moves so fast.
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: But there's a scene.
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: They're on the second floor and he's shooting down the
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: staircase down, so there's like a bunch of extras running
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: down the staircase. They're setting up for that scene and
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: he's at the top of the staircase and they're trying
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: to place me on the staircase and he like goes
- 1:03:04Speaker 5: to punch and like hits me right in my right
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: on my left boob. O.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: How delightful?
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Have I never told you guys? I had heard.
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: I thought it was like a grade. I didn't know
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: he punched your No.
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: Okay, okay, it was a great because he wasn't he
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: was practicing.
- 1:03:27Speaker 6: And he did.
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: He great, that's it was a great. But he hit
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: me and I just like I didn't know what to do.
- 1:03:37Speaker 6: And he was so like I said, he was so focused.
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: He was so in it that like instead of like
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: breaking being like, oh my god, I'm so sorry, he
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: like I think he like came to and looked at me.
- 1:03:49Speaker 6: It was like he said, is that your boob?
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: And I said yes, it was.
- 1:03:58Speaker 6: He was like I'm sorry, and I was like, that's okay.
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: It was the best.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: It was the best ever. Yeah, that's a great moment.
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: What if you'd have gotten like full soccer player and
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: just collapsed to the ground and just been like he
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: killed me?
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: That make it happen, right?
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: Yeah? I love that. Thank you for sharing that.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: Of course, of course whoa exactly exactly?
- 1:04:34Speaker 5: I also, I also, I don't know if I should
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: be admitting this, but from that scene, there were like
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: actual I mean it was fake bullets, but they were
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: like blanks coming out of it, And I took a
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: bullet and I snuck it in my dress and I
- 1:04:49Speaker 5: still have it.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: I love that. That's cool, super cool, allegedly cool. That
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: is allegedly cool.
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: If anyone, yeah, I don't know, we'll be upset, but
- 1:05:01Speaker 6: I don't think so.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: I think we'll be okay. The tens of people that
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: listen to this will be just fine, no worries. I
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: love that. That's a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing. Man,
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: that's crazy. Let's see, we already said the matrix Chad
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: was his stunt double. Uh, we said the pounds thing.
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: Oh oh this, I thought this was interesting. According to
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: the director's commentary, when they shot the top Level nightclub
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: fight sequence, Keanu Reeves had the flu and was running
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: one hundred and four degree fever and they said you
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: couldn't even get him to sit down. He just did
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: take after take.
- 1:05:44Speaker 6: Yes, well that's true. I did not know that he
- 1:05:46Speaker 6: is fever. But he didn't sit down, so.
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: Maybe he thought he was actually filming when he was
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: off in the corner.
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: You can its moves just like so out of it.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: Just delirious.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: Man, that's I mean, in one hundred and four yucky.
- 1:06:02Speaker 6: Oh my god, Wow, that's even more impressive.
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: That's that's what I was thinking when you were saying that.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: I was like, I wonder if that was the same time, Like,
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: good for him, that's amazing. Wow, let's see. Oh this
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: is crazy. While shooting a scene with a stuntman, Michael
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: nikefist cut his head so badly that his ear was
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: apparently resting on his shoulder and it resulted in eighty
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: stitches and they even had to like reshoot some things
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: to hide his his scar.
- 1:06:35Speaker 6: That's wild, goose bumps.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: Yeah, eighty stitches. There's a lot of stitches for your ear. Yeah,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: there's not a lot of real estate there, no ouchy.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: Yeah, so that couldn't have been for a while. Yeah, sorry,
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: I should have had a warning there for you. UHO
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: did eight hours a day for four months of preparation,
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: including weapons and martial arts training for this movie.
- 1:07:06Speaker 8: Wild Yeah, and I feel like I've seen since he's
- 1:07:11Speaker 8: done so many John Wicks like he would do like
- 1:07:14Speaker 8: Swat Team, you know, like training.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: And stuff like that too, So he must like doing
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: that too. Like think that's interesting because he sure does
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: a lot of it and he's really good at it,
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: so yeah, that's probably why, right, But yeah, I thought
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: this was interesting from a person who doesn't know the
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: film industry very well. But Eva Longoria was a producer
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: on the film, and the directors, I guess during like
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: media and stuff, were repeatedly asked about her involvement and
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: all they they just kept saying, we've actually never met her,
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: but we thank her for writing the check. So apparently
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: she was not directly involved other than finance, but good
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: for her money. Yeah, that's amazing. This had to be
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: a hit, I would think, given how many people love.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: It, for sure, so that's a three more films hit.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: They're doing pretty good.
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: The tattoos shown on John Wick's back during the shower
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: scene is fordis fortuna at uvat. I think it's how
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: you would say that, which translates to fortune favors the
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: strong or fortune favors the bold. I know I've heard
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: it both ways, so I just thought that was fun.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: That comes up in a separate movie. I don't remember
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: if it's two or three, but oh, I thought this
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: was so cute and will help us all heal from
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: the doggy trauma. O Mayor Omyor Barnea, who played Gregory
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: the Man or Gregory probably the man responsible for Daisy's death,
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: apparently genuinely felt horrible when shooting the scene, and so
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: the first thing he'd do when the camera stopped filming
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: was cuddling Pet, the precious puppy. And I was like,
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: that's nice, thank you. That would suck to have to
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: do that, to be like and then I kill it.
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: It was like, no, I don't want you guys.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: I mean this movie.
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: Check out my role.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: It's great.
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: You're a monster. Don't lose my number right now. The
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: scene where Wick is attacked in his room by Perkins
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: originally had Wick in his suit, but Keanu Reeves suggested
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: he should be in his boxers because he wanted to
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: feel vulnerable and I would just like to personally thank
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: him for that. I appreciate it so much. Let's see
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: what else we got. Lance Reddick plays the hotel concierge
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: whose name is Sharon or Charon. I guess is that?
- 1:09:32Speaker 6: What is Charon?
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: But in Greek mythology, Charon is the ferryman of Hades,
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: whom you have to pay for safe passage. So a
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: lot of people think when he gets the gold coin
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: in his pocket at the hotel, John is in essence
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: paying for safe passage back into the underworld, as it were.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: So I thought that was cool.
- 1:09:52Speaker 6: That is cool.
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I just thought this was fun. In Slavic, your
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: Slavic lore, Baba Yega usually portrayed as a witch that
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: lives in a.
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: House standing on chicken legs.
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: Which is funny, and if you look up pictures, it's
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: really silly and great and also scary. She's often portrayed
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: in a scary way, but tends to act more like
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: a trickster, and she also is known to be helpful
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: to those who are pure of heart. So I feel
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: like they wove a little bit of that in there, right.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: This is loosely inspired. This kind of speaks to your
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: comic book question. Rob but it's loosely inspired by an
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: actual incident in Texas involving a former Navy seal, Marcus Lutrelle,
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: who wrote the Lone Survivor book. Apparently, he was given
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: a yellow Labrador puppy whom he named Daisy, and it
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: was one of the members of his fire team when
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: he was over in Afghanistan. But he brought the dog
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: home with him, which often happens right when when the
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: dogies get to retire. He was awakened by a gunshot
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: at his house and four men driving away, and Daisy
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: had been shot in his yard. He armed himself with
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: his two Brettas and chased them through four counties in
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: his truck until police apprehended them. And they taunted Latreille
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: and threatened to kill him and didn't have any remorse
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: for his actions, but he The part where it diverges, obviously,
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: is he didn't end up doing anything to them. He
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: was like, I spared them because I've killed enough people already,
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: which is sad enough in its own right. But yeah,
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: pretty crazy story. People are the worst, let's see. The
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: director Chad Stahelski, was concerned about how the audience would
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: react to all the death in the scene or in
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: the film, especially the puppy. So when they were casting
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: the character of Joseph tear us off, they wanted someone
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: who looked like a complete prick and come quickly they
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: met Elfie and thought he was perfect for the role,
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: which is can't be great to read, I wouldn't expect, right,
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: they make a note to say, and also a very
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: nice person. So poor Elfie, you're perfect. You're a monster.
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: John Wick kills seventy seven people in this film, So
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: that's a thing. Yeah, that both seems like a lot
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: and not enough somehow, which is weird, and that's it's
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: a lot. Originally there was an alternate ending for the film,
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: which had John simply shooting Vigo and killing him, but
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: they decided to use the other ending where the two
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: men fight, and I think either could work, but I
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: kind of like the intimacy of it.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: Well, how horrible would it be after you know, he
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: ends up getting eighty stitches and his ear almost falls
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: off and all of that gets cut out?
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: Is that where it happened? I guess I read that's
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: like his biggest stuff.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: Yeah, good lord, dude, but that would be really Yeah,
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: we went through all.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: This for that, right, just like the Indiana Jones treatment,
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: it just ends up.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: That's all the stuff.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: That was all I had for trivia, rob, Did you
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: have anything?
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: I had a couple of things about actors. I saw
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: that Ian McShane actually replaced Jason Isaacs as Winston. Really
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: you don't see that very often.
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: That's Harry Potter guy, right.
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: Harry Potter guy with the piercing blue eyes that role too.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: Yeah, nice cool.
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: I saw that.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: I saw that there were a lot of people that
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: were considered for John Wick, which you know, I always
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: kind of take with a grain of salt because you
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: can consider anybody. But apparently producer Derek Coles that originally
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: wanted Johnny Depp for the role, and Johnny Depp actually
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: turned it down, and so then about it.
- 1:13:57Speaker 6: I can't even imagine that.
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: Me neither has ever anything like that. I mean, he's
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: done action movies like Pirates, like you were saying, but
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: he certainly wasn't like kicking ass right, Yeah, you interesting, so,
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: But yeah, that was all I had.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: Nice, Sammy, Did you have any other trivia? You're not
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: required to.
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: But just if you know, I mean, I just my
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: stories of the top of the day You've.
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: Been like, for sure, it's amazing.
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: Whoa he turns into his character from Bill and Ted.
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: Well, Josh, will there be a sequel?
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: We know, we've talked about it several I guess right,
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: and then a couple offshoots, one TV series and I
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: think one series another movie too, like.
- 1:14:48Speaker 5: A and maybe the Olympic gunman will will make an appearance.
- 1:14:52Speaker 6: Amazing to see that guy.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: No, I don't know what you mean, what that is?
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: Which kind tell me everything?
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: I'm so sorry.
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: I know everything about the Olympics, but there there is
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: shooting in the Olympics and this man, that guy dude, yes,
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: I can't I can't remember. He was from somewhere and
- 1:15:14Speaker 5: I think it was Turkey.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: I was gonna say, he.
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: Just like had no gear like everybody else has all
- 1:15:21Speaker 5: this protective gear. He's just like a guy with a
- 1:15:24Speaker 5: gun in his hand, and he was just and he
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: was incredible, but he had like no no, like.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: He was just like yeah, closing one eye, one hand
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: in a pocket, and the other just shooting.
- 1:15:41Speaker 6: And the internet was like, that's a good call.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a great call. If another one, I hope
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: is it? That's funny like that's great. Well, would you
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: guys like to play a game? Yes, I did a
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: starting five. Pretty sure you've done this before, Sammy. So
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: it's where I'm to name my five favorite actors from
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: a film. Yes, once you know the name of the film,
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: you ring in with your name. If there are more
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: names remaining, you can guess those for more points, and
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: if you get any of those wrong, the other person
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: can steal. All of these have something in common, so
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: there's a theme. When you know it, you can ring
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: in at any time for another point. And uh, I'm
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: just gonna level with you. There's a couple pretty easy
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: ones and there's a lot of tough ones on this,
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: so this should help. Uh yeah, yeah, yeah, we should
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: get the brain's brain's going good. Great, Then if you
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: don't get them, they're hard, they're they're pretty tough. I'
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: there you go do it.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: You need too, I'll get COVID and blame it.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: Blame it. I think we can always blame COVID.
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree, all right, cool, Well let's start it off.

- 1:17:37Speaker 1: of the easy ones, So buckle up, Sammy, Sammy.
- 1:17:45Speaker 6: Is the theme just a man's name?
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: I will give it to you.
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: It's not just a man's name, it's just a main
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: character's name. Is in the title. It's fun. It's not
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: like the whole title.
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: It's just in there. Makes the whole title.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: I don't know. No, it's just in there. Because there
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: are a couple where it's not just the name, but
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: the name, the full name is mentioned. It is always
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: a full name. I'll give you that.
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: I write points down.

- 1:29:17Speaker 1: animal better not dye movies, right, that's right.
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: But that's only for patrons. So if you want to
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: hear that and go to patreon dot com slash, they
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: have an endorsement right now and sign up. It's very
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: reasonable and it would help us out a bunch. Thanks
