- 0:09Speaker 1: Get your bibles and go to Acts chapter nine, verse
- 0:11Speaker 1: eight through twenty one. That's a lot of verses. But
- 0:15Speaker 1: some of y'all ain't read your Bible all weed and
- 0:21Speaker 1: look at your neighbors, say, I'm in between fights. Just
- 0:32Speaker 1: come out of one and don't know what I have
- 0:36Speaker 1: to fight. But in between fights. Now we're jumping in
- 0:43Speaker 1: in the middle of a Bible story, very common Bible
- 0:47Speaker 1: story to those of you that have been in church
- 0:49Speaker 1: a while. We're on the road to Damascus. We're not
- 0:53Speaker 1: on the Jericho road. We're on the road to Damascus.
- 0:56Speaker 1: We're not on the cobblestone streets of Jerusalem. We're on
- 1:00Speaker 1: the road to Damascus where everybody traveled by foot or
- 1:05Speaker 1: by course or by mule. And we're watching the man
- 1:12Speaker 1: named Saul that you know as Paul have an encounter
- 1:17Speaker 1: with God on the road to Damascus. And I'm going
- 1:22Speaker 1: to set this up for you, but that's why we're
- 1:25Speaker 1: jumping in the middle of it. I want you to understand,
- 1:28Speaker 1: Saul has been knocked off his beast by.
- 1:32Speaker 2: The power of coming.
- 1:34Speaker 1: You ever had God knock you off your beast? And
- 1:38Speaker 1: to get Saul's attention, he knocked him off a beast
- 1:41Speaker 1: and showed a great light and disrupted everything in his life.
- 1:47Speaker 1: And Saul arose from the earth. And when his eyes
- 1:51Speaker 1: were open, he saw no man blind. But they led
- 1:56Speaker 1: him by the hand and brought him into the Damascus.
- 2:01Speaker 1: And he was three days without sight, and neither did
- 2:05Speaker 1: eat nor drink. And there was a certain disciple at
- 2:10Speaker 1: Damascus name Anonius. And to him said the Lord in
- 2:14Speaker 1: a vision Annius. He said, behold, I am here, Lord,
- 2:19Speaker 1: And the Lord said in him, arise and go into
- 2:22Speaker 1: the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the
- 2:27Speaker 1: house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus. From
- 2:32Speaker 1: behold he prayeth, And have seen in a vision a
- 2:38Speaker 1: man named Anonius coming in and putting his hand on him,
- 2:42Speaker 1: that he might receive his sight. We wait, the blind
- 2:47Speaker 1: man still saw in a vision. And that's something. Yeah, insight, Yeah,
- 2:56Speaker 1: no eyesight, but still got insight. He's seen in vision
- 3:00Speaker 1: a man named Man and I is coming in, putting
- 3:02Speaker 1: his hands on him, that he might receive his sight. Then,
- 3:06Speaker 1: and I says the Lord, are you serious? I have
- 3:12Speaker 1: heard by many of this man how much evil he
- 3:16Speaker 1: have done to thy saints at Jerusalem. And here he
- 3:22Speaker 1: have and here he hath authority from the Chief priest
- 3:26Speaker 1: to bind all that call on thy name.
- 3:29Speaker 2: And you want me to go pray for.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Him, But the Lord said, unto him, go thy way,
- 3:36Speaker 1: for he is a chosen vessel, unto me. See, you
- 3:41Speaker 1: don't get to pick who God chooses. Yeah, he is
- 3:47Speaker 1: a chosen vessel under me, to bear my name before
- 3:51Speaker 1: the gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. For
- 3:57Speaker 1: I will show him how great things he must suffer.
- 4:02Speaker 2: For my name's sake.
- 4:05Speaker 1: And Annas went his way and entered into the house,
- 4:08Speaker 1: and putting his hands on him, said look at what
- 4:12Speaker 1: he said. Look at what he said. Look at what
- 4:13Speaker 1: he said To the man he was scared of, and
- 4:16Speaker 1: he called evil. But just because God said that he
- 4:19Speaker 1: belonged to him. He hadn't even laid hands on him yet,
- 4:22Speaker 1: but he just just called him on credit. Brother Saul,
- 4:29Speaker 1: brother Saul. The Lord even Jesus had appeared unto thee
- 4:34Speaker 1: in the way as thou camest have sent me, and
- 4:37Speaker 1: thou mightest received that thou might have received thy sight.
- 4:41Speaker 2: And be felled with the holy ghosts.
- 4:47Speaker 1: And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had
- 4:53Speaker 1: been skills, and he received sight for with and arose
- 4:58Speaker 1: and was baptized. And when he had received meat, he
- 5:03Speaker 1: was strengthened. Then was saw certain days with the disciples
- 5:08Speaker 1: which were at Damascus. And straight way he preached Christ
- 5:14Speaker 1: in the synagogues. Wait a minute, and straightway he preached
- 5:20Speaker 1: Christ in the synagogues that he is the son of God.
- 5:28Speaker 1: But all that heard him were amazed. Has said, is
- 5:32Speaker 1: not this he that destroyed them which called on this
- 5:35Speaker 1: name in Jerusalem. See even back then people would bring
- 5:39Speaker 1: up your pass and came hitherfore that intent, and he
- 5:45Speaker 1: might bring them bound unto the chief priest. That's the
- 5:50Speaker 1: end of the text. The subject is in between fights,
- 5:54Speaker 1: Father God, in the name of Jesus, we approached that
- 5:57Speaker 1: throne humbly. Before you you to move in the midst
- 6:01Speaker 1: of your people.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I thank you in.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Advance for what you're going to do. Have your way,
- 6:06Speaker 1: Great God, that you are in Jesus' name. Someone shout,
- 6:11Speaker 1: a man, you may be seated in the presence of
- 6:14Speaker 1: the Lord. Let's go to work. In order to appreciate
- 6:22Speaker 1: the texts, we have to look at the context in
- 6:27Speaker 1: which the text is extrapolated from the pretext tells us
- 6:33Speaker 1: the atmosphere that exists during this time. It is an
- 6:37Speaker 1: atmosphere of newness, It is an atmosphere of new beginnings.
- 6:44Speaker 2: It is the.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Disciples embarking on Christ's work without Christ physically being there.
- 6:54Speaker 1: And they start the work of the Lord at a
- 6:56Speaker 1: deficit because all through the Synoptic Gospels they are referred
- 7:02Speaker 1: to as a twelve, but now they only have eleven
- 7:08Speaker 1: because in the process of the crucifixion, Judas has hung
- 7:12Speaker 1: himself and his guts have spilled out on the polished field.
- 7:18Speaker 1: So they have the name the twelve, but the reality
- 7:22Speaker 1: is eleven. Sometimes your name can be greater than your situation,
- 7:30Speaker 1: and when your name doesn't have equilibrium with your situation,
- 7:34Speaker 1: you want to fix that thing so that you become
- 7:38Speaker 1: authentically what they call you. And in the process of
- 7:42Speaker 1: them attempting to fix it, they meet together and prayed
- 7:47Speaker 1: and selected two men, and they began to cast lots
- 7:51Speaker 1: to see who would be Judas's replacement. They cast lots,
- 7:58Speaker 1: and they cast lots, and the lots fell on the
- 8:00Speaker 1: lot fell on Matthias, and Matthias became, in their view,
- 8:05Speaker 1: the replacement for Judas. And I'm not saying that he
- 8:09Speaker 1: wasn't the replacement for Judas. But it is interesting to
- 8:13Speaker 1: note that he didn't that there's no recordings of Matthias
- 8:17Speaker 1: doing anything amazing, no books written by their disagreement about
- 8:23Speaker 1: where the churches were founded bying He's not mentioned any
- 8:27Speaker 1: place in all of the epistles, but they had picked
- 8:30Speaker 1: him by casting lots. In total contrast to that, God
- 8:40Speaker 1: has chosen Saul, who we call Paul, to be a
- 8:47Speaker 1: New Testament apostle. Now, Matthias, according to my research, had
- 8:54Speaker 1: been walking with the disciples and around Jesus all the time,
- 8:59Speaker 1: and in my colonel mind, it makes sense that Matthias
- 9:03Speaker 1: would be a replacement because he is a witness to
- 9:07Speaker 1: the miraculous power of God. Saul, on the other hand,
- 9:11Speaker 1: has no real experience with the power of God. But
- 9:16Speaker 1: rather than having experience with the power of God, he
- 9:20Speaker 1: is totally opposed to Christianity. In fact, when he meets
- 9:25Speaker 1: the Lord, he meets the Lord on the way to
- 9:30Speaker 1: capturing more Christians to bring back to Jerusalem, though they
- 9:34Speaker 1: were not yet called Christians. It was called the Way, Yeah,
- 9:39Speaker 1: and he was trying to find people who were in
- 9:41Speaker 1: the way to bring them back to Jerusalem, to persecute
- 9:46Speaker 1: them and yet he has an encounter with God. I
- 9:51Speaker 1: couldn't help but think of the difference between in the
- 9:54Speaker 1: Old Testament between King Saul, who was somebody that got
- 10:00Speaker 1: gave Israel because they desired a king, and David, whom
- 10:05Speaker 1: God chose. Many are called, but feel I chosen, And
- 10:17Speaker 1: in the Old Testament Saul was called.
- 10:21Speaker 2: But David was chosen.
- 10:23Speaker 1: You will remember when the kingdom was rejected from Saul
- 10:27Speaker 1: and Samuel was weeping. God said, why weeps now over
- 10:30Speaker 1: what I have rejected. I have found a man after
- 10:34Speaker 1: my own heart. Look at the contrast between Saul and David.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Saul it looks like a king by all natural rights.
- 10:45Speaker 1: He has every reason to be king. He has his
- 10:48Speaker 1: stature and the demeanor of a king. He is from
- 10:51Speaker 1: the tribe of Benjamin. He comes from the pedigree that
- 10:55Speaker 1: is prophesied that he would be king.
- 10:58Speaker 2: David comes from the house.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Of JETI see he doesn't have the pedigree or the background.
- 11:05Speaker 2: He's from the tribe of Judah.
- 11:07Speaker 1: He doesn't have the history behind him that connotes kingship.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Saul stood ahead and shoulders above all men. He had
- 11:17Speaker 1: the right look, but David had the right annoying. David
- 11:23Speaker 1: had the right annoyingty. And while we pick people that
- 11:26Speaker 1: look good, God will pick people that are anointed for
- 11:33Speaker 1: the service and for the task. And all of a
- 11:37Speaker 1: sudden we find ourselves in this situation that is mirrored
- 11:41Speaker 1: in the New Testament as a reflection of the Old.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Whereas we are talking about Saul versus David in the
- 11:48Speaker 1: Old Testament, in the New Testament, we're talking about Matthias.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Is he the twelfth Apostle or is it Paul.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Some would even argue that Paul is the thirteenth Apostle.
- 12:00Speaker 1: But my concern is I don't see where Matthias ever
- 12:04Speaker 1: did anything. And I'm a living witness the folk I
- 12:09Speaker 1: pick on my own. I'm just gonna let that hang
- 12:16Speaker 1: out there because enough people laugh to let me know
- 12:21Speaker 1: that you know what I'm talking. Is there anybody in
- 12:23Speaker 1: here that ever picks somebody on your own? Cast lots,
- 12:28Speaker 1: pick somebody because your mama was born in May, and
- 12:31Speaker 1: my mama was born in May, and grandma's name was
- 12:34Speaker 1: thell Man. Your grandma's name was Thel And it makes
- 12:37Speaker 1: sense to you. But everything that makes sense to you
- 12:41Speaker 1: isn't what God.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Has for you.
- 12:46Speaker 1: In fact, more times than not, God will pick something
- 12:49Speaker 1: that makes no sense at all and raise it up,
- 12:53Speaker 1: and you'll be scared to receive it, because what God
- 12:57Speaker 1: has in his heart for you doesn't agree with what
- 13:00Speaker 1: you had.
- 13:01Speaker 2: In your mind for you. That's just the case here
- 13:05Speaker 2: in the text.
- 13:06Speaker 1: The very fact that Saul would be chosen was so
- 13:10Speaker 1: shocking that even Ananias and his faithfulness to God did
- 13:14Speaker 1: not really want to go lay hands on Saul, because
- 13:18Speaker 1: Saul was snatching people that followed Jesus and taking them
- 13:23Speaker 1: and persecuting them. And yet Saul has an encounter with God.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Somebody saying an encounter with God. He hasn't an encounter
- 13:35Speaker 1: with God. And it is not wheth somebody witnessed to him.
- 13:39Speaker 1: It is not where somebody preached to him. It is
- 13:42Speaker 1: not where somebody persuaded him. God did not use any
- 13:47Speaker 1: human hand or sticks like lots to choose him. God
- 13:53Speaker 1: stepped into Saul's life. And if you read the whole text,
- 13:57Speaker 1: you will read it was a fight on the road
- 14:00Speaker 1: to the Dabascus. It starts out with a fight. There
- 14:03Speaker 1: is a fight between God and Saul. Now Saul has
- 14:08Speaker 1: gotten permission from the high priests to go down and
- 14:12Speaker 1: attack Christians. He's got permission from the priest, but not
- 14:17Speaker 1: from the one who the priest served, and he is
- 14:21Speaker 1: credentialed to go down there and attack Christians. But God
- 14:27Speaker 1: has another plan. He intervenes in his life. He disrupts
- 14:32Speaker 1: his life, and he starts wrestling with him. A great
- 14:36Speaker 1: light appeared and knocked him off of his beast, and.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Then he said, who is it? Lord?
- 14:44Speaker 1: And he said, it is Jesus, whom thou persecuted? Wait
- 14:48Speaker 1: a minute, I got to talk about that. Of a minute.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Saul had never done anything to Jesus. He had only
- 14:56Speaker 1: attacked those who followed Jesus. But Jesus takes it personal
- 15:01Speaker 1: when you attack his kids. It is Jesus whom thou persecutor.
- 15:11Speaker 1: You think you're just rounding up my disciples, but you're
- 15:14Speaker 1: actually persecuting me. That's why we try to teach you
- 15:17Speaker 1: that the battle is not yours. It belongs to God.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Because people think they're fighting you, but they're not fighting you.
- 15:25Speaker 1: They're fighting the God that annoyed you. The battle is
- 15:29Speaker 1: not yours, and you don't have to get even, and
- 15:32Speaker 1: you don't have to feel bad because you didn't get
- 15:34Speaker 1: the last word in, and you don't have to fend
- 15:37Speaker 1: for yourself, and you don't have to struggle for yourself
- 15:40Speaker 1: because God has a way of dealing with your enemies.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I prophes how to somebody. Your enemy is about to
- 15:46Speaker 1: get knocked off his path. He's about to get knocked
- 15:52Speaker 1: off his beast. This is a radical, warlike conversion. It
- 15:57Speaker 1: is not a nice, easy conversion. It is not a
- 16:00Speaker 1: polite conversion. It is not that somebody gave him a track.
- 16:04Speaker 1: It is not that somebody prayed with him, and it's
- 16:07Speaker 1: not that somebody talked to him. It's not that somebody
- 16:10Speaker 1: intellectualized him. God just came on the road and knocked
- 16:14Speaker 1: it over. Oh God, have mercy, Glory to God. I'm
- 16:18Speaker 1: just in my introduction, I'm trying not to get happy.
- 16:21Speaker 1: But when I started thinking about all the things that
- 16:24Speaker 1: God knocked over, is there anybody in here that's had
- 16:28Speaker 1: God knock over some stuff? Glory to God, that was
- 16:32Speaker 1: coming to get you and you knew it was coming
- 16:35Speaker 1: to get you, and God knocked it over you. It
- 16:39Speaker 1: might not be but ten people in here, but you're
- 16:41Speaker 1: praising God not for a new car or a new house,
- 16:44Speaker 1: or a new job or a new place. You're praising
- 16:47Speaker 1: God because when the enemy was coming at you. God
- 16:51Speaker 1: knocked it over. Nudge somebody and tell them he knocked
- 16:54Speaker 1: it over. They were after me and he knocked it over.
- 16:58Speaker 1: They were after my job. He knocked it over. They
- 17:01Speaker 1: were after my mind and he knocked it over. They
- 17:04Speaker 1: were after my peace and he knocked it over. They
- 17:06Speaker 1: were after my sanity and he knocked it over. They
- 17:09Speaker 1: were after my family, and he knocked it over. And
- 17:12Speaker 1: I'm still praising God. How God can overthrow the plans
- 17:17Speaker 1: of the enemy, the tactics of the enemy, the wilds
- 17:20Speaker 1: of the devil. When God gets ready to do it,
- 17:23Speaker 1: you don't have to run out to the middle of
- 17:25Speaker 1: Damascus road God, or meet him in the middle of
- 17:28Speaker 1: the road and knock them off their beasts. Can I
- 17:31Speaker 1: get about ten seconds of praise for a knockover? Oh,
- 17:36Speaker 1: it's gonna be a knockover. I knock over, I knock over,
- 17:39Speaker 1: A knock over, I knock over.
- 17:41Speaker 2: God can knock it over.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Threw him on this back, knocked him to the floor,
- 17:51Speaker 1: and he says, who is it, Lord? And the Lord said,
- 17:54Speaker 1: it is Jesus, whom thou persecuted. This Lord is enough
- 18:00Speaker 1: to make you be careful about who you attack, because
- 18:07Speaker 1: you can inadvertently be attacking Jesus, fighting people and get
- 18:19Speaker 1: knocked over because you didn't even realize who you was
- 18:24Speaker 1: fooling with. Saul has no idea that it is Jesus
- 18:32Speaker 1: that he is persecuting. Anytime you get in the way
- 18:36Speaker 1: of God's purpose with your opinion, your opinion does not
- 18:44Speaker 1: equate to God's purpose. God has a purpose, and when
- 18:49Speaker 1: God has a purpose, your opinion don't amount to God's purpose.
- 18:54Speaker 1: And if you put your opinion in the way of
- 18:56Speaker 1: God's purpose, God's gonna knock it over. It is Jesus,
- 19:04Speaker 1: so loud persecuted. And the Bible said that when Saul
- 19:09Speaker 1: humbled himself that he when he got up, he saw
- 19:13Speaker 1: no man. So watch, watch, watches, because you got to
- 19:16Speaker 1: see this. This is a radical This is a radical
- 19:20Speaker 1: fight out here on the road to Damascus between a
- 19:24Speaker 1: belligerent individual who is courageous enough to snatch people out
- 19:30Speaker 1: of their house and drag them back to Jerusalem, and
- 19:34Speaker 1: a God who don't care nothing about his personality, says
- 19:39Speaker 1: I will come against you. I don't care how tough
- 19:42Speaker 1: you think you are, and knocked him right over. It
- 19:45Speaker 1: reminds me of Jacob being on penial, and how he
- 19:48Speaker 1: comes to penial, and how God dealt with him and
- 19:52Speaker 1: wrestled with him and brought him down and changed everything
- 19:56Speaker 1: he thought about himself, his name, his destiny, his background.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Jacob had that kind of radical conversion. There are some
- 20:10Speaker 1: people in this room that had a radical conversion. God
- 20:14Speaker 1: just came into your life. You wasn't planning for it,
- 20:17Speaker 1: You weren't expecting it, You had no intentions of doing it.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Some of y'all used to talk about church folk, never
- 20:24Speaker 1: thinking in your life that you would end up clapping
- 20:27Speaker 1: your hands and jumping around in church today. Can we
- 20:30Speaker 1: be real for a minute. Some of you never thought
- 20:33Speaker 1: you'd be in the Potter's house, and here you are
- 20:36Speaker 1: sitting in the Potter's House clapping your hand because God
- 20:39Speaker 1: did something radical in your life to turn you around.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Glory to God, Glory to God. Glory to God, Glory
- 20:47Speaker 1: to God. Some of you never thought you belonged to
- 20:49Speaker 1: a big church. You said, I don't like big churches.
- 20:52Speaker 1: I don't like being in crowd. But God has a
- 20:54Speaker 1: way of knocking you off of your beach and sending
- 20:57Speaker 1: you in a completely different direction. Anybody that can be
- 21:01Speaker 1: real in here and be honest ARide call a ridical converse,
- 21:13Speaker 1: a radical converse, a radical converse. We don't use the
- 21:17Speaker 1: word conversion much in church. We don't talk about conversion,
- 21:23Speaker 1: and we don't talk about conviction. It used to be
- 21:27Speaker 1: in the church they talked about conviction. People would come
- 21:30Speaker 1: to the altar convicted. Now they come to the altar
- 21:33Speaker 1: taking pictures. Now people come to the altar facetiming you
- 21:41Speaker 1: and doing u Facebook life.
- 21:45Speaker 2: You had the altar.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Supposed to be looking for Jesus, and you do. You
- 21:49Speaker 1: think you're a film producer, But when conviction gets a
- 21:53Speaker 1: hold of your life, you cut your camera off and
- 21:57Speaker 1: lay down on the altar with tears running down your
- 22:00Speaker 1: faith because you've had a radical encounter with God. I'm
- 22:04Speaker 1: not talking about coming up to the altar because your
- 22:06Speaker 1: dress is cute. I'm not coming up to the altar
- 22:08Speaker 1: because you want a picture to take home to show
- 22:11Speaker 1: your friends who were there. You don't come to see me.
- 22:14Speaker 1: You come to see Jesus. You don't come to see people.
- 22:18Speaker 1: You come to see Jesus. You don't come because you're
- 22:20Speaker 1: a film producer. You come to see Jesus faradic converge,
- 22:29Speaker 1: cold it up. I want all the folks who got
- 22:33Speaker 1: convicted about your life and your mess and your stuff
- 22:36Speaker 1: and the way you live, to jump up on your
- 22:38Speaker 1: feet and just fair witness that there's still some conviction
- 22:42Speaker 1: left in the church. Conviction about sin, conviction about evil,
- 22:47Speaker 1: conviction about wicked. There still exists a convicting Holy Spirit.
- 22:52Speaker 1: It's not just a dancing Holy Spirit. There's a convicting
- 22:55Speaker 1: Holy Spirit. They're the holy Spirit that will knock you
- 22:58Speaker 1: off your beast, bring you down to your knees, make
- 23:03Speaker 1: you surrender, make you sell out. There's a convicting Holy
- 23:07Speaker 1: Spirit that will make you walk away from people you
- 23:10Speaker 1: thought you couldn't live without. A convicting Holy Spirit that
- 23:14Speaker 1: will disrupt you, that will change your life, that will
- 23:17Speaker 1: make you uncomfortable with stuff you like. A convicting Holy
- 23:21Speaker 1: Spirit that all come into your life and speak to
- 23:23Speaker 1: you about your nasty, sendingful way. A convicting Holy Spirit
- 23:28Speaker 1: that will bring you down to your knees and make
- 23:30Speaker 1: you surrender to God and say yes to God.
- 23:33Speaker 3: I don't care how.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Long you've been doing it. And because we have little conviction,
- 23:44Speaker 1: we have little conversion, because you can't have true conversion
- 23:49Speaker 1: until you have true conviction. Glory to God. I can't
- 23:54Speaker 1: make you be convicted. I can't talk you into being convicted.
- 23:58Speaker 1: You have to have an encounter with God that shows
- 24:01Speaker 1: you yourself. And all of a sudden you see him
- 24:07Speaker 1: like you've never seen him before. Who is it? It's Jesus,
- 24:12Speaker 1: whom thou persecuted. And he shows up as light. Jesus
- 24:20Speaker 1: shows up as light. In him was life and the life.
- 24:24Speaker 1: What's the light of men? Jesus shows up as light.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Stop making choices in the dark. Jesus shows up as light.
- 24:37Speaker 1: He illuminates situations. He'll show you perspectives. See the problem.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Now all the prophets can see everybody but themselves. I'm
- 24:50Speaker 1: a little bit leer on people who know what you
- 24:52Speaker 1: ought to do but don't know what they ought to do.
- 24:55Speaker 1: How come you can see my life and you can't
- 24:57Speaker 1: see your life? How come you can see my child
- 24:59Speaker 1: but you I can't see your child? There you are
- 25:01Speaker 1: talking about my child. Your child was out there with
- 25:04Speaker 1: my child? Shut up? Did I say that out loud? Oh?
- 25:16Speaker 2: I did?
- 25:17Speaker 1: I said it out loud. I said it out loud.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I said it out loud. I said it out loud.
- 25:22Speaker 1: He had a moment with God. I'm going to talk
- 25:25Speaker 1: to you about four things. I'm gonna talk about the moment,
- 25:28Speaker 1: the misfit, the messenger, and the message. The moment, the moment,
- 25:35Speaker 1: the moment, the moment. It's a moment. It's a moment.
- 25:43Speaker 1: That's how salvation reaches you. Boom, It's a moment, the moment,
- 25:48Speaker 1: the misfit, the messenger, and the message.
- 25:54Speaker 2: He had a moment with God, a moment.
- 25:57Speaker 1: With God that disrupted every everything he knew about himself.
- 26:03Speaker 1: He was of the tribe of Benjamin. He knew that
- 26:06Speaker 1: about himself. He was a Pharisee. He was a Pharisee,
- 26:11Speaker 1: the most conservative group. He was a Pharisee. Concerning the law.
- 26:17Speaker 1: He was zealous. He was committed to what he believed.
- 26:23Speaker 1: He had lived all over his life up under the law,
- 26:28Speaker 1: and in one moment, it was all disrupted. Do you know,
- 26:33Speaker 1: I don't care how long you've been in a religion.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I don't care how long you've been following an idea.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I don't care how many generations it's been in your fireman,
- 26:41Speaker 1: one moment with Jesus can radically revolutionize your life. Somebody
- 26:47Speaker 1: listening at me. You're trying to hold on to your
- 26:50Speaker 1: traditions and get a little bit of Jesus. And you
- 26:53Speaker 1: like some of the stuff Jesus said, and you think
- 26:55Speaker 1: that religion as a smorgast. Boy, I have a coup
- 26:58Speaker 1: of this and a little bit of that, had a
- 27:00Speaker 1: little bit of than other, and I'll mix it all
- 27:02Speaker 1: up together. Me and God got my own thing. No,
- 27:05Speaker 1: if you encountered Jesus, you got to give up everything
- 27:09Speaker 1: you encountered before had walked away from it. That's why
- 27:13Speaker 1: Paul said, I counted all as dung. Everything I knew, everything,
- 27:17Speaker 1: I learned, everything I lived for. I had a radical
- 27:21Speaker 1: moment with God that changed my value system. My values
- 27:31Speaker 1: have been misaligned. And all of a sudden, Paul, who
- 27:36Speaker 1: was leading men, ends up being led by the men
- 27:41Speaker 1: he was leading, and they had to lead him because
- 27:44Speaker 1: he was blind. Because God said, I'm gonsa shut your
- 27:48Speaker 1: eyes till you get this right. I'm gonna shut you
- 27:52Speaker 1: down till you get this right. I'm gonna shut up
- 27:55Speaker 1: your finances till you get it right. I'm gonna shut
- 27:58Speaker 1: up your strength until you get it right. God has
- 28:01Speaker 1: a habit of shutting you down till you get it right.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Especially when you're stubborn, especially when your heart headed, especially
- 28:08Speaker 1: when you like to fight. God knows how to shut
- 28:10Speaker 1: you down. He said, I'm gonna bring you to a
- 28:12Speaker 1: place of vulnerability where you're gonna need the people that
- 28:16Speaker 1: you used to lead, and they're gonna have to lead
- 28:19Speaker 1: you as I bring you into the truth.
- 28:23Speaker 2: It was some moment.
- 28:25Speaker 1: It was some moment that change the rest of the
- 28:28Speaker 1: moments for the next two thousand years. And God didn't
- 28:34Speaker 1: trust no evangelist to do it. He appeared unto Saul
- 28:41Speaker 1: on the road to the Matxis.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Now.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Part of the criteria of being an apostle is to
- 28:46Speaker 1: be an eyewitness to the resurrection, and Saul wasn't at
- 28:51Speaker 1: the tomb. So Jesus did a special appearance. Oh God,
- 28:59Speaker 1: God will do us special appearance. He'll come in your room,
- 29:02Speaker 1: He'll come in your hotel. He'll come in the club,
- 29:04Speaker 1: he'll come in the bar. God will do a special appearance.
- 29:07Speaker 1: He'll come right where you are and just shut.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Up, go reay to God. Somebody holler. He shot up.
- 29:17Speaker 1: He showed up in my life. I wasn't planning to
- 29:21Speaker 1: get saved. He showed up when I came back to
- 29:25Speaker 1: the club. I went to Columbus. I brought two sets
- 29:27Speaker 1: of clothes. I said, I'm gonna go to the convocation
- 29:30Speaker 1: and at night, I'm going to the club. I never
- 29:33Speaker 1: got to use the second set because he's shout up.
- 29:44Speaker 1: I had packed all my sharp stuff too. I was
- 29:46Speaker 1: gonna be clean, baby, I was gonna be clean. I
- 29:50Speaker 1: put a couple of suits in there. You know, give
- 29:52Speaker 1: God a nod. How you doing, Jesus, Yeah, I'm going
- 29:58Speaker 1: to the club, quick change out to church. Never made
- 30:10Speaker 1: it to the club because he's.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Next thing.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I know. I'm walking down now with tears running down
- 30:18Speaker 1: my face and Mother Macassle singing all of my life.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I'll say yes, Lord, and I'm crying in an offering,
- 30:27Speaker 1: coming back to the Lord. Have you had a moment
- 30:32Speaker 1: with Jesus or do you just go to church?
- 30:40Speaker 2: Have you had a moment with Jesus?
- 30:42Speaker 1: Or is there a nice looking girl in his church
- 30:44Speaker 1: and you're coming over here because you're trying to convince
- 30:47Speaker 1: her that you you and Jesus are you cool?
- 30:50Speaker 2: Were cool? I'm giving Jesus a nod. Now it's really you.
- 30:54Speaker 2: I'm out to.
- 30:59Speaker 1: You can experience suppont his house and not experience Jesus.
- 31:04Speaker 1: You can experience me and not experience Jesus. If you
- 31:07Speaker 1: have a moment with Jesus, it will radically change your prospectives,
- 31:13Speaker 1: your attitude. And look at how look at how how
- 31:16Speaker 1: Jesus wrecked everything that that Saul's life was built on
- 31:23Speaker 1: it Suddenly, in one moment, it's gone. You can't be
- 31:27Speaker 1: a member of the sand heedron and preach Jesus. You
- 31:31Speaker 1: can't be a pharisee and preach Jesus. You can't be
- 31:37Speaker 1: zealous concerning the law and teach grace. Wow. It changed
- 31:44Speaker 1: his head, It changed his identity, It changed his personhood,
- 31:49Speaker 1: It changed everything about him. He wiped the God wiped
- 31:53Speaker 1: the slate clean, completely clean. This is why you here.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Paul s ain't over. I profess to know nothing but
- 32:02Speaker 1: Christ and him crucified. He is not going to fall
- 32:06Speaker 1: into the trap of thinking he's smart again. He's spoke
- 32:11Speaker 1: in five different languages and he says, I am a
- 32:15Speaker 1: fool for Christ.
- 32:19Speaker 2: He's call what I'm saying.
- 32:22Speaker 1: And he has a moment with God alone, with nobody
- 32:28Speaker 1: there but the men who were with him, and they're
- 32:30Speaker 1: leading him. They're leading him into Damascus. And this is
- 32:34Speaker 1: not how he planned to go into Damascus. He didn't
- 32:37Speaker 1: plan to come into Damascus blind being led by men.
- 32:42Speaker 1: He planned to come into Damascus strong, attacking men, snatching
- 32:48Speaker 1: women out of the house. But it doesn't always end
- 32:52Speaker 1: up like you thought. Just because you think something right
- 32:57Speaker 1: now doesn't make it true. He comes into Damascus helpless.
- 33:07Speaker 1: The powerful man is now helpless, blind, groping, depending on.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Them to lead him.
- 33:17Speaker 1: And God tells him to go to a man he
- 33:19Speaker 1: doesn't even know, name Anonius. And there he is on
- 33:25Speaker 1: a street called street. Doesn't even know anoniusis address. Y'all,
- 33:31Speaker 1: don't hear what I'm saying. And Annius, when God tells
- 33:36Speaker 1: Anonaius to pray for Saul, he says, are you serious,
- 33:42Speaker 1: Saul of Tarsus? You want me to pray for him?
- 33:48Speaker 1: You want me to go pray for him. See, we
- 33:51Speaker 1: get in these cliques and sometimes we won't pray for
- 33:56Speaker 1: people because they're not in our clique. I'm not praying
- 34:02Speaker 1: for no Democrat. I'm not praying for no Republican. I'm
- 34:06Speaker 1: not praying for no white folks. I'm not praying for
- 34:09Speaker 1: no black folks. I went through something y'all know what
- 34:11Speaker 1: I went through. I don't care what you went through
- 34:14Speaker 1: when you was a child. God will humble you down.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Because God does not promise to always use who looks
- 34:27Speaker 1: like you, votes like you, dresses like you to bless you.
- 34:36Speaker 1: God uses whoever he wants to use. He don't meet
- 34:40Speaker 1: with you. He doesn't do a poll, he doesn't do
- 34:43Speaker 1: a census, he doesn't meet with the committee. He doesn't
- 34:45Speaker 1: need board approval. When God gets ready to snatch or
- 34:49Speaker 1: y'all got quiet. When God gets ready to snatch somebody,
- 34:52Speaker 1: he will snatch somebody.
- 34:56Speaker 2: And and I just doesn't want to be seen with Saul.
- 35:01Speaker 1: It's bad for his brand, it's bad for his reputation,
- 35:07Speaker 1: it could be bad for his life. And yet God says,
- 35:15Speaker 1: he prayeth now, there ought not be nothing that supersedes
- 35:23Speaker 1: the command of God in your life. When God says, forgive, forgive,
- 35:32Speaker 1: When God says, let it go, let it go. When
- 35:35Speaker 1: God says it'll all be over in the morning, It'll
- 35:38Speaker 1: all be over in the morning. When God says, we've
- 35:41Speaker 1: been made to do it for tonight, but joy comes
- 35:43Speaker 1: in the morning, he don't ask you how you feel
- 35:46Speaker 1: about it. Well, Lord, I just don't feel like and
- 35:52Speaker 1: I don't feel like this morning. It don't feel like
- 35:54Speaker 1: morning to me. Shut out. If God says this morning,
- 35:57Speaker 1: this morning, it may still be dark out this morning.
- 36:01Speaker 1: You do know that morning starts in the dark. When
- 36:04Speaker 1: God says it's morning, it's morning. So he wants you
- 36:07Speaker 1: to rejoice like this morning. He wants you to shout
- 36:10Speaker 1: like this morning. He wants you to move like his morning,
- 36:12Speaker 1: and that anias, he wants you to go down to
- 36:16Speaker 1: a street called straight and pray for a man who
- 36:20Speaker 1: was coming to kill you.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Cardon us. How do you pray for a man.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Who is coming to kill you, a man you have
- 36:40Speaker 1: art against. That's why God won't accept your gift if
- 36:46Speaker 1: you have malice in your heart. He said, leave your
- 36:51Speaker 1: gift at the altar and reconcile yourself with your brother.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Because whatever they did, it ain't worth you losing your
- 37:00Speaker 1: authority with God. Whatever they said, it ain't worth you
- 37:03Speaker 1: losing your power with God. No matter how it hurts you,
- 37:07Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. You still got to do what you
- 37:10Speaker 1: got to do. And if God says do it, you
- 37:13Speaker 1: gotta do it. See, we don't use this word any word,
- 37:15Speaker 1: the old word obedience obedience It's better than sacrificing. Obedience
- 37:20Speaker 1: is better than sacrificing. I appreciate whatever you sould, but obedience,
- 37:24Speaker 1: it's better than sacrificing. You can't give your way, it
- 37:28Speaker 1: does getting your license to do wrong. So Anna and
- 37:38Speaker 1: I its obeyed God. And he goes down there and
- 37:41Speaker 1: he lays hands on the man who was gonna lay
- 37:45Speaker 1: hands on him.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Can you do it? No?
- 37:55Speaker 1: Serious, can you do it? Can you lay hands on
- 37:59Speaker 1: the person who was coming to hurt you? And an
- 38:09Speaker 1: Ice lays hands on Saul who was gonna lay hands
- 38:16Speaker 1: on him, and the power of his obedience casts the
- 38:23Speaker 1: scales to fall from Saul's eyes. I don't know who
- 38:29Speaker 1: I'm preaching to, but I'm talking to somebody that if
- 38:32Speaker 1: you would just do what God says do and stop
- 38:35Speaker 1: wrestling with your ego and your pride and to humble
- 38:38Speaker 1: yourself the power you would have the scales fall from
- 38:46Speaker 1: his eyes. And suddenly Saul can see and he goes
- 38:53Speaker 1: from having a moment with God to a moment as
- 38:58Speaker 1: a misfit. I want you to feel this. How can
- 39:06Speaker 1: he go back to the Sanhedrin court and tell him
- 39:11Speaker 1: about Jesus because he is no longer one of them.
- 39:17Speaker 1: There is no seat for him amongst the Sanhedron. He's
- 39:22Speaker 1: lost all of that. He's lost all credibility with Thehedron
- 39:29Speaker 1: because he has taking on this Jesus philosophy that they hated.
- 39:37Speaker 4: They have empowered him to attack what he has become.
- 39:50Speaker 4: So he she got to think, so he can't.
- 39:55Speaker 5: He can't go back. There is a point in God.
- 40:07Speaker 5: It's not that you don't want.
- 40:08Speaker 2: To go back.
- 40:10Speaker 1: It's not that you ain't tempted to go back. It
- 40:13Speaker 1: ain't that your flesh don't want to go back. But
- 40:16Speaker 1: there is a point in God where you cannot go back.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Not somebody's word watching right now. You cannot go back.
- 40:29Speaker 1: You can't go back and undo what God has done
- 40:33Speaker 1: in your life. You can't unknow what you know once
- 40:37Speaker 1: you know who Jesus he is. You can't unknow that.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I don't care how you drink, how much weed you smoke,
- 40:44Speaker 1: how high you get, I don't care how many light
- 40:47Speaker 1: dances you get. Once you know Jesus, there's a mark
- 40:51Speaker 1: on your life that something is always gonna be missing
- 40:56Speaker 1: until you say yes, you can't go back. The problem, however,
- 41:10Speaker 1: is not just that he can't go back because I
- 41:12Speaker 1: can leave one group if I connect with the other,
- 41:20Speaker 1: I can. I can I can be rejected by this
- 41:23Speaker 1: group if I'm accepted by the other. The problem with
- 41:27Speaker 1: Saul is when he comes to the Apostles, they don't
- 41:36Speaker 1: believe in him. They don't believe him. They don't believe
- 41:42Speaker 1: in him. They don't like him, they don't accept him,
- 41:50Speaker 1: and so he has to accept being a misfit. You
- 42:03Speaker 1: have to accept being a misfit. You can change your hair,
- 42:12Speaker 1: you can change your clothes, you can change your style,
- 42:15Speaker 1: you can change your walk. They still not gonna like you,
- 42:19Speaker 1: because when God has called you out, you can't go
- 42:23Speaker 1: back in. You have to accept being a misfit. Look
- 42:28Speaker 1: at somebody, say I'm different. I'm different. You ain't never
- 42:31Speaker 1: seen nobody like me before. You're never gonna see anybody
- 42:35Speaker 1: like me again. I'm different. And after years and years
- 42:38Speaker 1: of low self esteem and crying about it, I'm finally
- 42:42Speaker 1: starting to accept that I'm different. I'm cool with it.
- 42:46Speaker 1: I'm okay with it. I can live with it. I
- 42:48Speaker 1: understand that I've been trained in it. I learned how
- 42:52Speaker 1: to be a misfit. It doesn't matter that you don't
- 42:55Speaker 1: like me, and It doesn't matter that you don't believe
- 42:58Speaker 1: in me. I can stand on my own because I
- 43:01Speaker 1: had an encounter with Jesus. And so when Saul, who
- 43:13Speaker 1: is now called Paul, starts to minister, he ministers from
- 43:18Speaker 1: the place of a misfit. All my misfit people hear me.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Good.
- 43:26Speaker 1: The reason you have the annointing is because you're a misfit.
- 43:33Speaker 1: The reason you have your anointing is because you're a misfit.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Had they accepted you, you wouldn't have had the annointing.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Had they embraced you, you wouldn't have had the annoyingty
- 43:46Speaker 1: Because Paul was a misfit, he gives us most of
- 43:50Speaker 1: the New Testament epistles because he does not fit in
- 43:55Speaker 1: with either groove. He's an outcast on both sides. But
- 44:00Speaker 1: when you're an outcast with men, you are in cast
- 44:03Speaker 1: with God. Until you hear what I'm saying, I'm talking
- 44:07Speaker 1: to somebody I don't even know who it is. You
- 44:11Speaker 1: a misfit. Stop fighting it, Stop changing yourself, stop redoing
- 44:16Speaker 1: your philosophy. Stop trying to be what everybody else wants
- 44:19Speaker 1: you to be. You were meant to be a misfit.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Your Savior was a misfit. The stone that the builders
- 44:26Speaker 1: rejected has been made the chief corner stone. Stop crying
- 44:30Speaker 1: about it, Stop worrying about it, Stop being frustrated about it.
- 44:34Speaker 1: You don't want to be in with them. God saved
- 44:37Speaker 1: you from being in with them. He meant for you
- 44:40Speaker 1: to be different. Look at your neigh and introduce him.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Say hello, I'm different. Yeah, my name is different. My
- 44:48Speaker 1: name is that, my walk is different, my talk is different.
- 44:51Speaker 1: The way I think it is different, the way I
- 44:54Speaker 1: believe is different, the way I flow is different. I
- 44:58Speaker 1: understand it if you don't like me. Everybody can't walk
- 45:01Speaker 1: with a misfit. You have to be a misfit yourself
- 45:05Speaker 1: to understand another misfiting when you see it. I want
- 45:08Speaker 1: some misfits in this room to give God a pray.
- 45:12Speaker 1: You don't fit in with your family, you don't fit
- 45:14Speaker 1: in with your community, you don't fit in with your neighborhood.
- 45:18Speaker 2: You just a misfit for Jesus.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Often it takes half your life to accept being a misfit,
- 45:39Speaker 1: because we are always advertised, marketed, modeled, and promoted fitting in,
- 45:50Speaker 1: and it hurts to not quite be either.
- 46:01Speaker 2: One.
- 46:03Speaker 1: It's lonely. It's lonely being a misfit. When you are
- 46:15Speaker 1: a misfit, you are misunderstood. They accuse you of being arrogant.
- 46:23Speaker 1: They accuse you of being high minded. They accuse you,
- 46:26Speaker 1: we used to say, are being such a much. They
- 46:29Speaker 1: accuse you of walking around with your head up in
- 46:31Speaker 1: the air. They accuse you of forgetting where you came from.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Come on, misfits, back me up on this. Being a
- 46:41Speaker 1: misfit means that you have to learn to be okay
- 46:47Speaker 1: with being misunderstood.
- 46:48Speaker 2: That ain't easy. That ain't easy.
- 46:56Speaker 1: That ain't easy. It was not to be the apostle Paul.
- 47:02Speaker 1: It was not easy to be shunn by your future
- 47:10Speaker 1: and rejected by your past. It'll make you pray harder
- 47:19Speaker 1: because you don't have nobody to depend on.
- 47:25Speaker 2: But the Lord.
- 47:27Speaker 1: It'll make you get up and come to church on
- 47:29Speaker 1: Sunday morning. I don't care how cold it is outside.
- 47:34Speaker 1: You wrapped up and came to church because this is
- 47:37Speaker 1: the only place you fit. Not the building, the presence
- 47:41Speaker 1: of the Lord, the glory of the Lord, the annoying
- 47:45Speaker 1: of the Lord. This is a place where we feed
- 47:48Speaker 1: the misfits. Hey, misfits. Dinner is served and the minos
- 48:19Speaker 1: says that immediately Paul started preaching immediately, Ain't that's something.
- 48:30Speaker 1: Immediately he starts preaching in the synagogue, he doesn't come
- 48:38Speaker 1: back to the synagogue to be accepted. He knows they
- 48:43Speaker 1: think he's crazy, but he's preaching in the synagogue. He
- 48:51Speaker 1: has to fight all of his life, but in between
- 48:56Speaker 1: the fights he's writing most of the New Testament. In
- 49:02Speaker 1: between fights. He came to Listra and they threw rocks
- 49:09Speaker 1: at him, and they stoned him till his head was
- 49:13Speaker 1: busted and his back was bleeding, and they drug him
- 49:17Speaker 1: out of the city as half dead. But as soon
- 49:22Speaker 1: as he woke up, he got in between the fight
- 49:26Speaker 1: and started preaching again, saying stuff like, there is therefore
- 49:31Speaker 1: now no condemnation to them that are in Christ, Jesus
- 49:36Speaker 1: who walk no longer after the flesh, but after the spirit.
- 49:40Speaker 1: If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.
- 49:46Speaker 1: All old things have passed away, the whole old things
- 49:50Speaker 1: have become new.
- 49:52Speaker 2: For we know, if this earthly house or tabernacle.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Shall be dissolved, we have another building eternally in the heavens.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Having this assurance that God, who has begun a good
- 50:06Speaker 1: work in you, shall perform it unto the day of
- 50:10Speaker 1: Jesus Christ. I want to talk to everybody in here
- 50:14Speaker 1: that's been in the fight. Out to fight, out to fight,
- 50:17Speaker 1: the Lord said, in between the fights, preached the gospel,
- 50:21Speaker 1: lay hands on the sick, open up blinded eyes, rebuilt
- 50:26Speaker 1: the devil, and keep on going. That put him on
- 50:30Speaker 1: the boat, and the boat fell apart. He survived, the shipwrecked,
- 50:35Speaker 1: and the snake bid him. But in between the fights
- 50:39Speaker 1: he come on, telling them Jesus is Lord, to the
- 50:42Speaker 1: glory of God. I wish I had a hundred people
- 50:47Speaker 1: that would praise God in between the fight. You're still God,
- 51:01Speaker 1: your steal God. The ship has wrecked, but your steal God.
- 51:08Speaker 1: The snake has bid me, but your steal God. The
- 51:13Speaker 1: rocks made me bleed, but your steal God. See, it
- 51:17Speaker 1: ain't no praise till your praising God with blood running
- 51:22Speaker 1: down your face. There ain't no praise till your praising God.
- 51:27Speaker 1: In the middle of rejection and pain. Let the redeemed
- 51:31Speaker 1: of the Lord say, soul. I'll give you thirty seconds
- 51:36Speaker 1: to give God a praise like you lost your man.
- 51:57Speaker 1: You got ten seconds to open your hour. Every misfit
- 52:02Speaker 1: in the building here every misfit online, every misfit in
- 52:07Speaker 1: the mouth.
- 52:07Speaker 2: For that.
- 52:08Speaker 1: You got five seconds, though, and you're my house, and
- 52:12Speaker 1: give God some praise and settle in. I'm being disliked,
- 52:18Speaker 1: settle in, I'm being controversial, settle in, I'm being mistreated.
- 52:24Speaker 3: It's okay.
- 52:36Speaker 1: This is why it's okay, said it said out. This
- 52:40Speaker 1: is this is why it's okay to be a misfit
- 52:44Speaker 1: because number three, you're the messenger, and you can't be
- 52:52Speaker 1: the messenger if you fit in.
- 52:57Speaker 2: That's what's wrong. Now.
- 53:00Speaker 1: We got too many folks trying to fit in, too
- 53:02Speaker 1: many preachers trying to fit in. If you're gonna be
- 53:07Speaker 1: the messenger, you gotta be willing to be the misfit
- 53:11Speaker 1: glory there. You can't be common with the people that
- 53:14Speaker 1: you're trying to lead. That's why we don't have parents
- 53:20Speaker 1: no more, because they're too busy trying to be friends
- 53:22Speaker 1: with their kids. You so busy trying to be friends
- 53:26Speaker 1: that the kid ain't got no parent. And now if
- 53:29Speaker 1: you're not a friend, you're not a parent. The devil
- 53:31Speaker 1: is a lie. You gotta understand that you gotta be
- 53:33Speaker 1: a misfit. You gotta be a misfit. If you're gonna
- 53:36Speaker 1: win this battle. If you're gonna be a boss, you
- 53:39Speaker 1: gotta be a misfit. You can still be nice, but
- 53:42Speaker 1: you ain't got no business chasing them behind people trying
- 53:45Speaker 1: to make them like you.
- 53:47Speaker 2: This ain't no election. Your paycheck voted me boss.
- 53:50Speaker 3: I'm the boss.
- 53:55Speaker 1: You can't cash the check and not recognize who signed it.
- 54:05Speaker 1: Come on, we might as well clean it up in here.
- 54:08Speaker 1: Look at somebody saying clean it up. You are the messenger.
- 54:14Speaker 1: You are the messenger. You are the messenger. I don't
- 54:17Speaker 1: care whether you're a preacher or not. You're the messenger.
- 54:20Speaker 1: You're still a witness. You're a soul winner. Stop trying
- 54:23Speaker 1: to be an undercover agent on your job. You don't
- 54:26Speaker 1: want nobody to know that you saved so that you
- 54:29Speaker 1: still got permission to live out your own life. Go
- 54:32Speaker 1: ahead and be a messenger. Start praying for people on break.
- 54:36Speaker 1: You're a messenger. God didn't put you on the job
- 54:39Speaker 1: to make money. He puts you on the job to
- 54:42Speaker 1: change lives. You could have made money anywhere. You're on
- 54:46Speaker 1: an assignment. You're a messenger. You got a message. You're
- 54:50Speaker 1: on a mission. That's why the enemy keeps fighting you
- 54:53Speaker 1: it's because you're a messenger. He wouldn't try to shut
- 54:56Speaker 1: you down if you didn't have something to say. He said,
- 55:00Speaker 1: he's attacking you. It's because you're a messenger. I want
- 55:04Speaker 1: every messenger in here to clop your hands. I'm a messenger.
- 55:08Speaker 1: I'm a messenger. I'm a messenger. I'm a messenger. I'm
- 55:12Speaker 1: a messenger. I'm a messenger. But messengers get fought with
- 55:22Speaker 1: being misfits because being a messenger means saying yes to
- 55:34Speaker 1: being a misfit. So when the enemy wants to shut
- 55:39Speaker 1: down your message, he'll show you how bad you don't fit.
- 55:49Speaker 1: I'm a preaching right, I say, I am preaching right. You
- 55:56Speaker 1: are a messenger. Most what we know about church, about
- 56:03Speaker 1: the fivefold ministry, about the resurrection from the dead, about
- 56:08Speaker 1: the mystery of the Godhead, about the peace that passes
- 56:12Speaker 1: all understanding, about having peace with God, about no condemnation.
- 56:19Speaker 1: Most of what we know about the resurrection came from Paul,
- 56:24Speaker 1: not Matthias. Stop worrying about who they picked. God picked you.
- 56:37Speaker 1: God pigged you. I'm gonna say it again. God pigs you.
- 56:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it again. God pig you. And you
- 56:49Speaker 1: don't have to be eighty, and you don't have to
- 56:51Speaker 1: be seventy, and you don't have to be sixty. You
- 56:53Speaker 1: don't have to be fifty. Jesus started ministering when he
- 56:57Speaker 1: was twelve because God pigged. You have to understand that
- 57:02Speaker 1: God picks you, and it's not because your past is
- 57:06Speaker 1: in alignment. It's because you had a unique moment with God.
- 57:19Speaker 1: And stop being frustrated because you can't teach people how
- 57:24Speaker 1: to have a moment that they didn't have. Oh God,
- 57:32Speaker 1: that's so good, Thank you Jesus. I'm gonna watch this
- 57:36Speaker 1: on YouTube again myself. Some of you that are messagers
- 57:40Speaker 1: are frustrated because in your loneliness, you are trying to
- 57:43Speaker 1: make disciples out of people who do not have your moment.
- 57:52Speaker 1: And if they did not have your moment, they cannot
- 57:57Speaker 1: have your mantle. Let me tell it to the people
- 58:03Speaker 1: over here. If they did not have your moment, they
- 58:07Speaker 1: cannot have your mantle. That's why Elijah told Elisha, if
- 58:12Speaker 1: you see me when I'm taken up, you can have
- 58:15Speaker 1: my mantle.
- 58:16Speaker 2: You can't get my mantle just.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Because you want it, just because you think you got
- 58:20Speaker 1: a write to it, just because you gave me a
- 58:22Speaker 1: love offering. You can't buy me off and get this
- 58:26Speaker 1: until you've been knocked off your beast, until you've had
- 58:29Speaker 1: an encounter with God, until you walked around blind, and
- 58:33Speaker 1: until you're willing to be a misfit. You can't teach
- 58:41Speaker 1: people how to be what they didn't see. So forgive
- 58:48Speaker 1: yourself for not being able to reduplicate yourself when Jesus
- 59:00Speaker 1: picks out twelve to say, y'all pull it at me. Now,
- 59:03Speaker 1: when Jesus picks out twelve disciples, you know the first
- 59:05Speaker 1: thing he tells them, take up your cross and follow
- 59:09Speaker 1: me because.
- 59:11Speaker 2: You're gonna hear me.
- 59:12Speaker 1: Teach all you want to, but you're not gonna get
- 59:16Speaker 1: my mantle off of what I teach. You're gonna get
- 59:20Speaker 1: my mantle off of what I suffer. So the invitation
- 59:27Speaker 1: is until you have a shared experience, you cannot receive
- 59:37Speaker 1: my spirit without receiving my cross. Most of us are
- 59:46Speaker 1: stuck in the misfit stage, hindering our message because we
- 59:53Speaker 1: are still grieving over not fitting.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: And until you resolve.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: And say yes not only to God, but yes to
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: not quite fitting in with either group, Yes to being peculiar,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: yes to thinking different, Yes, to having a flow that's
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: different from other people's flow. You will never discover your message,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: your message, which is your purpose, number for your message,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: because you are a messenger. Your purpose is predicated on
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: your message, not your emotions. God didn't call you for
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: your feelings. He called you for your message, because you
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: are a messenger to a dying world.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: To model.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: What love looks like, what strength looks like, what maturity
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: looks like, what diligence looks like, what commitment looks like,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: what fortitude looks like. In between fights, you gotta keep
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: teaching people how to be survivors.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: How to walk alone.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Sometimes am I helping anybody?
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Let me tell you something.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Most of the divorces that we're having we should have
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: never had, because we are trying to get something out
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: of marriage that it is not designed to give you.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: You're taking marriage for therapy, and when you don't get
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: therapy out of it, you get out of it. If
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: you want therapy, go to a therapist. It is not
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: my job to fix you. It is my job to
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: love you. The reason I can't fix you is that
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: I'm trying to fix me, and it is wrong of
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: me to expect you to fix me. Because whatever's broke
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: in me was broke when you bought me. I'm the
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: house you bought as is. I'm a fixer upper. The
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: drain don't work, and the lights flash on and off,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: and when it rains real hard, I leak in the kitchen.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: But I'm still your house, y'all don't hear me? And
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: you are angry with me over stuff I don't know
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: nothing about. You're trying to work out in me stuff
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: you had going on with your daddy. I'm trying to
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: work out in you stuff I had going on with
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: my mama that ain't even fair.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: You wasn't even married. You don't even know what happened.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: And if I tell you, you only get my side. And yes,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: I got a devil to fight. How many people in
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: here are honest enough to say you got a devil
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: to fight. That's why I'm at church this morning, because
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I got a devil to fight. That's why I was
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: wipping my hands and praising God when you were singing,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: because I got a devil to fight. That's why your
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: job is so important, because you helped me fight my devil.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: That's why I can't cross my legs and look cute
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: in church, because I got a devil to fight, and
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: I came to here this morning to get some ammunition to.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: Help me the fight.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Because when I leave this place, I'm going back to
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: the front lines, and I'm gonna have to do battle.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: I'm not talking about going battle with people.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: I'm talking about going battle with me, doing battle with
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: my own head, doing battle with my own pain, going
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: battle with my own self, sometimes doing battle with my prophecy,
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: with my destiny. Am I ready? Can I handle it?
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: Can I pull it off? Am I enough? No?
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: I'm not enough? But with God, I'm more than enough.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: Can I get a praise in this place? Can I
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: get a praise in this place? So?
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: When no.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: Gets down to the end of his life, he sends
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: a message to his mentee. He does not tell Timothy
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: about all his revelations. He does not tell Timothy about
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: all the places he traveled. He does not tell Timothy
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: how he was trained at the feet of Gamil. He
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: does not tell Timothy how many languages he spoke in.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: He does not tell Timothy that he is solely responsible
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: for the Gospel reaching the Greeks, that he preached the
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: Gospel on Mars Hill until a whole nation got saved.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: He does not tell Timothy that it was not Peter
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: alone that brought the Gospel to Rome. But that's why
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: the shipwrecked, was to keep him from getting to Rome.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: Because when Paul got to Rome, the whole game change
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: and the headquarters of Christianity slipped over from Jeru It
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: was a little over to Rome. He didn't tell him
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: any of that. You know what he tells him, I
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: thought a good fight.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: I fought.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: A good fighter. I did it when I felt like it.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: I did it when I didn't feel like it. I
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: did it when things were going good. I did it
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: when things were going bad. I did it when I
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: was on the mountain. I did it when I was
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: in the valley. I did it when people liked me.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: I did it when people hated me. I did it
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: when they understood. I did it when they didn't understand.
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: I have fought a.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: Good fight, and you got to learn how to clock
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: for yourself and say I have fought somebody clopped for yourself.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: I thought a good fight. I raised the kids by myself.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: I'm a single mother, but I fought a good fight.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: Holly low Yah. I divorced some mother, but I kept
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: on taking care of my children. I fought a good fight.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: I met people who didn't like me. I came to
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: work where they talked about me. I kept on going
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: to work, even though the person I trained ended up
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: getting the job I should have gone, But I still
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: came to work, and I fought a good fight. I
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: want to talk to some people that have been into
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: some fight. I don't want to talk to these cutie
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: people that ain't been through nothing yet. I want to
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: talk to some real soldiers that's been in some real fights.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: Paul tells Tim a time I fought, I fought. I
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: fought a good fight.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: I fought fights other people wouldn't even take up. I
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: fought fights I could have avoided. I fought a good fight.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: You know what. I kept the faith.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Yeah, sometimes that was the fight.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Some of that.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: See y'all think I'm fighting with people. Sometimes the fight
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: is to keep the I fought a good fight. I
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: kept the faith. Wait on this, here's what you've been
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: waiting on.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: Laid up for me is a crown of righteousness. Didn't
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: get it when I wanted it, didn't get it where
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: I worked at it, some stuff only God can give you.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: Now laid up for me is a crown of righteousness.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: We used to sing stuff like we shall behold Him.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: Or that other song.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: The marketplace is empty, no more selling in the streets.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: The King is coming. We don't sing about heaven right
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: now because we got better cars.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: We don't think.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: About heaven because we got air conditioning. We don't think
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: about heaven cause we got dishwashers and garbage supposals and
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: stuff like that. But the truth of the Mighty is
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: nothing you own is your crown. None of it is
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: a crown. There is a crown for those of you
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: who have fought a good fight. And it ain't down here.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: It ain't down here, bro, it ain't down here. Why
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: would you appreciate Because every time I open up the paper,
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: somebody else has committed suicide. You know why most people
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: commit suicide because they never got the crowd. They put
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: in the fight, and they didn't get the crown. But
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Paul tells Timothy, now laid up.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: For me is a crown.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Of righteousness, and not for me only, but for all
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: of those who await.
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: His appearing.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: Stand to your feet. If God spoke to you today.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: Give him some kind of praise.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: Quick.
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: Teacher's review is make your life count in between fights.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: Don't survive a fight only to be in misery about
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: an old fight. You wasting your free time talking about
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: your old time in between fights. Makes your life count.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: Do something purposeful. That's what the fight was about in
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: the first place. In between fights, do what you were
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: created to do. This is a teacher's review. The power
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: of obedience. Understanding that sometimes you have to go against
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: your feelings and obey God and lay hands on people
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: who were trying to lay hands on you. Because this
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: is not your business. This is God's business.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: You do it.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: Do you hear what I'm saying? Teachers review? I want
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: you to understand. You didn't choose God. God chose you.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: Teacher's review. Fitting in is overrated.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: Be okay with being different.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: Nobody writes books about ordinary, only extraordinary.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: Be cool with it.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: All of not all, but most of our heroes were
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: lauded after they died. If you demand payment up front,
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: you are distracted from your destiny. Who am I talking to?
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: When you worry about being a misfit? You put your
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: happiness in the hands of someone else means I can
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: only be happy if you like me. That's too much
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: power to give to any clique, any group, any crowd,
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: any coworkers. That's too much power to give anybody. You
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: gotta be cool with doing you, y'all. I often joke
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: talking about how my wife loves Christmas. And she got
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: the house. You know, it looked like Santa Claus lived.
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: There, and uh and and the one.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: Who always teasing her about it? I said, how come
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: you ain't playing your music?
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: You know why.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: It ain't my thing, but it's hers. And if it
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: gives you joy, turn the music off. It takes a
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: long time to stop trying to change people and just
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: love them like they are. It ain't nothing wrong with that,
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: I thought, I let me turn the music on, let
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: me help, let me do something. Stop trying to make
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: people into you, because.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: Can we be honest a minute.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: You ain't that happy being you, so why are you
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: trying to make me.
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: Be you?
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Early in the message, I used two words that I've
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: said we don't use much conversion and conviction. Conversion the
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: right to change, the right to be somebody else is important.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: Don't walk yourself into situations you can't get out of
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: because your conversion is a process, and conviction is the
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: decision that I need to change directions. Now. I'm not sure,
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: but I believe that somebody in this room or watching
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: online has been knocked off your beasts, the wind knocked
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: out of you, blackout, you can't see your way clear.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: And God has disrupted your life because He's got something
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: for you that's different than where you were headed. And
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: you can be hard headed and come to him on
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: a cart Lord down through the roof, or come to
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: him in a dread disease, or you can come to
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: him now.
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: And say, Lord, I need to make some changes.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: Ain't no need of me having a new year if
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: I'm not going to be a new man, even if
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: I am despised, if I have to leave my clique,
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: my gang, even if I have to change jobs, whatever
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: I have to do to fulfill what you created me
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: to do.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: I'm tired of fighting you. God.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: It's enough to fight me. You know what Jesus told
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: Paul that I left out. He said, it is hard
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: for you to kick against the pricks. The prick was
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: something that they put at the end of the stall
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: to stop the mule from kicking the stall, trying to
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: get away. It was a sharp object that the more
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: you kicked against it, the more it hurt you. And
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: when God says it's hard for you to kick against
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: the pricks, he said, you kicking against me
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: And hurting you,
