- 0:19Turna Glory podcast Hunters Arbadickie, you're battling a little cold here with the code
- 0:23of free tag. No Austin for right now, maybe joining later Austin Ike
- 0:29just be getting kicked off the podcast. I don't really know. Dak Yo,
- 0:34what the heck he's showing up and talk about been shown up late and
- 0:40now he's not showing up at all. I guess you guys don't talk about
- 0:44doing Gabriel in Nebraska, doing Gabriel or the other twenty five quarterbacks that have
- 0:49gotten mentioned so far. I've I've heard maybe thirty five quarterbacks going Nebraska.
- 0:57I think it's unbelievable, every single one of them. It's crazy, and
- 1:03I don't know. I still have like my particular thoughts on the type of
- 1:08quarterback we need. Matt Reule does come out and make an interesting comment about
- 1:15the money and how we have to pay for an elite quarterback, and it
- 1:19was kind of I don't know a jab that maybe people need to donate money
- 1:23if they want a good quarterback. I don't know. There was more money
- 1:27given to Tony White. He got a six hundred thousand dollars raise and we
- 1:32secured him, which I think was very important that that that, to me
- 1:36is the most important news coming out from this week since the last time we
- 1:40were on was that we got Tony White. He's back, He's not going
- 1:42anywhere, and continuing to build on the defense. That's probably bigger news than
- 1:51any quarterback you can get. Is keeping him completely agree, securing him was
- 2:00at the top of the checklist, But I think right below that is getting
- 2:05a quarterback or at least actively searching for one to not maybe not replace,
- 2:12but at least challenge and and go at Heidrich and or Chebba. Not really
- 2:19throwing Jeff Simms in there, but yeah, the latest was today or yesterday
- 2:23was Dylan Gabriel and Kyle McCord from Ohio State both out there. Dak,
- 2:28I guess you tell me what you think, Like, this is a big
- 2:31topic and it's going to be until we secure the quarterback. I think the
- 2:35transfer portal closes January third, so we got basically a month here to to
- 2:43land one of these quarterbacks. What do you what do you think Nebraska needs?
- 2:47Like, what do we need? What kind of guy are we looking
- 2:50for? With the way you want to play. I I've always thought you
- 3:01need like a kJ Jefferson, Like a dude that can run, you don't
- 3:06need the most accurate passion in the world. And the even a guy that
- 3:07just controls the offense makes smart decisions, like I'm with Like you said,
- 3:12Will Howard was your top one, that that'd be a good one, that
- 3:15he's just smart decisions. Just just don't turn it over. Yep, that's
- 3:20mainly what you need. And like I think that there's probably a very common
- 3:25answer to that question from a lot of Husker fans. And yeah, the
- 3:29more I guess playmaking capabilities the person has, the better. But I don't
- 3:34know that Nebraska is a top place for a lot of these transfer quarterbacks.
- 3:39And some of the articles I saw, you know, there's the quarterbacks that
- 3:43we have no shot at getting right, there's the ones that are maybe more
- 3:46realistic, and then the backups to the backups. So there's a lot out
- 3:50there. Yeah, I mean a kJ Jefferson type of guy, a dual
- 3:54threat, a runner, I think. But the main thing is not turning
- 3:58the ball over. Well, the question mark of the problem with that is
- 4:01the guy that Matt Rule picked in year one was the exact opposite of not
- 4:09turning the ball over. And he continued what he knows how to do in
- 4:13turning the ball over. So why do you because I saw the list two
- 4:19of all these top quarterbacks, why do you think Nebraska isn't on the list?
- 4:24Like of all these teams that money or is it? I think it's
- 4:28a combination. Okay, that's a loaded question here. I think it's a
- 4:32good one. We have a offense and the style right now that's not very
- 4:43attractive to a lot of these playmaking quarterbacks. And on top of that that,
- 4:47I think the biggest thing is that we don't win. You haven't won,
- 4:50So what quarterback is going to want to come here to? I mean,
- 4:55think about all these guys that are leaving in Oklahoma, leaving in Ohio
- 4:58State, leaving an LSU league, even in Arkansas even like why why do
- 5:02you? Why do you want to come to Nebraska and quote unquote struggle.
- 5:10I think the money thing is something there. I do think that whoever is
- 5:15going to pay more money is going to attract some of the higher talent.
- 5:19And I don't think that we are on the bottom of that financially, but
- 5:25I don't think we're definitely at the top. It's hard. I don't know,
- 5:29like, do we have enough money to throw at Will Howard to make
- 5:31him happy and want to come here and be the quarterback at Nebraska? I
- 5:34don't know. And on top of that, look at how much pressure our
- 5:38quarterbacks always are under at Nebraska and scrutiny and now I guess it probably goes
- 5:43for a lot of places, but our quarterbacks are hated here. I mean,
- 5:46like we've talked about when was the last quarterback that came out of Nebraska
- 5:49that was liked, we haven't had one a while. It's been a long
- 5:57time, do you well? Yeah, like you Like you said, though
- 6:00all these all these quarterbacks have transferred from like the bigger schools. They're going
- 6:03to win a championship. They're not going to go rebuild a program. That's
- 6:08their main focus is they're going to go dry to go one year and win
- 6:11a title. And that's that's the interesting point to that is what what are
- 6:16what kind of guy is Rule and staff after? Are we after a guy
- 6:20that's just a one and done? Are we after a guy that we want
- 6:24to be here for two or three years and hopefully build something around him in
- 6:29this quote unquote rebuild that we're in right now, I think that's a very
- 6:32valid question. And I don't know what I struggle with that is that today's
- 6:39college football environment maybe is more of with the quarterback position, the one and
- 6:45done. You're gonna need a guy for one or two years, and you
- 6:47know what, if they're not contending for titles, they're gone. I mean
- 6:51the hell, look at Dyllan Gabriel, Like, look at it. He
- 6:53went to Oklahoma and Oklahoma had a solid year. Yeah they didn't get to
- 6:57the Big Twelve title game, but he wants to leave Ohio State. Same
- 7:00way with the Alvicord, Like, it's just one of those deals that you're
- 7:04gonna have guys come and go. What what year is col mccor Is he
- 7:12a sophomore? Yeah, maybe even a freshman. I don't know. I
- 7:16know he's young. That would be, honestly for the Huskers, that would
- 7:24be top my list guy right there. That would be a guy you could
- 7:28build around for for a long time. He'd be very sorry to my list
- 7:32and and the guy that kind of guy that we're describing here, And then
- 7:35I think a lot of Husker fans are after And I heard this on one
- 7:39of the other podcasts I was listening to and I really liked it was a
- 7:42Joe Gans type of guy that again, he's not He's not one of those
- 7:47guys's going to go out and grow for three and fifty yards a game,
- 7:49and we don't want that. He's also just going to be a safe option
- 7:55back there. So again, a lot to talk about and a lot of
- 7:59stuff to come here or over the next month with the quarterback position. But
- 8:03that is probably item number two on the checklist I think here, and it's
- 8:07a big one because the staff messed up on their first one and I'm not
- 8:11gonna say it cost us games, but it did cost us games this year.
- 8:13It cost us at least a couple. The other loaded question with this
- 8:18is Heinrich and Chubba. Are they good enough? Can they still function in
- 8:26this offense that we're trying to do under another year of development. Are they
- 8:31going to be coached properly to get better after a year. That's another question
- 8:35that could be looked at because they both had injuries throughout the year, they
- 8:39both had their opportunities. Heiner Carberg won us five games. I'm not saying
- 8:45I want that, I really don't. I think there needs to be a
- 8:46better option than that, But I don't think it's the end of the world
- 8:52for what we're trying to do. If quote unquote what we're looking for is
- 8:54the process and progress into year two, I wouldn't I wouldn't be mad if
- 9:03Chubble was your starting quarterback going in the year. Like, I don't know
- 9:07if i'd be that mad about that Harbor guy. That's he's got it.
- 9:13He's got to prove past me a little bit more. But Chubby, I
- 9:16wouldn't be mad about it if he's a starter. Yeah, And I guess
- 9:20passing and decision making, I guess is what we're looking for. So we'll
- 9:24keep an eye on that here over the next few weeks. Also got to
- 9:31mention we're heading towards the top of our off season Natty title rankings. We
- 9:35are every year already landed a force to our offensive lineman, Grant Bricks.
- 9:41It's great, just it's just a great Dad got We're not even we're barely
- 9:45a week out from our season being over, and all the media is just
- 9:50we're just we're just fired up about next year already. Well, how that
- 9:56that kick from Mile was basically noting through the upright Y Compton was ready tweeting
- 10:01about hearing him in the next six games next year. It wasn't That game
- 10:05wasn't even over, and he was, Oh, yeah, that's what we
- 10:09do. We're having a quarterback. You guys just win. Yep. Well,
- 10:16we have a lot to touch on today. There's actually quite a bit
- 10:18going on. Should we talk Let's talk college football playoff here because that's hot
- 10:26off the press. On Sunday they announced the four teams in everybody probably knows
- 10:31who they are, but Florida State getting left out at the five spot,
- 10:35and then Georgia obviously the sixth. Still a four team playoff this year.
- 10:41Initial thoughts, well, I heard about Texas way too much on the way
- 10:50before the rankings team started. I got three phone calls for my brother just
- 10:54about it, just before the rankings even came out. I was like,
- 10:56I was like, dude, how many times is can I hear about Texas?
- 10:58I don't care anyway, Well ship Orange right now too, the actress
- 11:07go big go. But anyway, I thought, no, no, I
- 11:16hope they gets smacked all day long or since yesterday. I've been back and
- 11:20forth on a Florida station made or not. They're undefeated and it's tough.
- 11:26I don't know it's definitely even undefeated team out, but they do say they
- 11:31ranked the best four teams and can you say Florida State's one of the top
- 11:37four. Nope. I I one hundred percent think they got it right.
- 11:41I really do. I think they they did exactly what they needed to do.
- 11:46And I know some people really disagree with the Power five champion going undefeated,
- 11:50and it shouldn't be about style points, but you have to read the
- 11:54criteria of what they're talking about, and just the general message is what you
- 11:58just say. They talk about getting the best four teams in. And there's
- 12:03no doubt in my mind that if you put Alabama and Forest Date on a
- 12:07neutral field, who would be favored in that game? And who would you
- 12:11pick? Is ask you to ask yourself that question, who would you pick
- 12:15in that game? If you had to put your life on you had to
- 12:18put one thousand dollars on it? Which team are you picking on a neutral
- 12:20site field? You're picking Alabama, That's not it, not a question.
- 12:26So I understand the frustration that, well, what else could afford a state
- 12:31done well? I mean, yeah, you probably just needed to win more
- 12:35impressively. Yeah, and Yeah, it does suck that you lose your quarterback.
- 12:39That's just the reality of what happened. I actually thought that maybe they'd
- 12:46put Georgia in over Texas for that same reason and same logic. Only problem
- 12:50with that was that you had to then justify not putting Texas in who beat
- 12:56Alabama head to head? So I think this was the safe way for the
- 13:01committee to go. Yeah, a little bit of controversy there, but you
- 13:05also have to remember the money thing. And I know people don't want to
- 13:07hear that reason, but think about how much money that this group passed with
- 13:13the SEC. And I know that's kind of hate that, but it's true,
- 13:18Like the SEC generates unser revenue, so like you think they're just gonna
- 13:22leave out an SEC team, Like, that's not going to happen. So
- 13:26I think they hit it on money. I think they did exactly what they
- 13:30needed to do. The only place that I would I would question is maybe
- 13:35putting Washington ahead of Michigan at the one spot I would have you know,
- 13:41I was thinking about that earlier. I was like, I'm like, why
- 13:43did they not put Washington ahead of Michigan there? They should have I think,
- 13:48I mean, what Mischian. I wish I would have watched more of
- 13:50that. I have a Michigan game, but anyway, from the scoring the
- 13:54status, it did not look like that's not impressive. Did you did you
- 13:56really want to watch more of that? No? I really didn't. Honestly,
- 14:03I'm watch enough, but I'm watching about five plays that day. But
- 14:07it wasn't from a resume standpoint, like I think Washington has the more impressive
- 14:13wins. I get it, Michigan's beat Ohio State and Penn State, but
- 14:16I mean, including Nebraska, some of the teams that Michigan beat are not
- 14:20very good at all, including their conference championship points. So that was my
- 14:24one thing that I thought maybe they'd slide Washington ahead of them, but they
- 14:28didn't. But we do have some good games here here for the final four,
- 14:33and I'm excited for it. I think again, the committee got it
- 14:35right. I don't think there's any question on that right now. And the
- 14:39only other thing that I thought of, well, watching the selection so on
- 14:43show on Sunday, wouldn't it be awesome if they just came out and said
- 14:48we're putting six in this year and said f all the contracts and stuff,
- 14:50we had and hope we're just gonna do six. We're making it a six
- 14:54teamer. That'd be awesome. It crossed my mind to I don't know,
- 15:01it would have made people happen. I never because pasts the top six there's
- 15:07zero controversy. If you put just those six in, everyone would have been
- 15:11fine. Yeah, that crossed my mind. I'm like, huh, I'm
- 15:15like they could have did that. And then there were again, there are
- 15:16four that people are kind of questioning a little bit. I think Washington and
- 15:20Michigan were the two locks, so you could have gave them both buys,
- 15:24and then I don't know. I thought that would have been kind of fun
- 15:26if they would have just unscrew everything we're doing this. It's the last year
- 15:30before we get moved to twelve. Let's just make it a six teamer and
- 15:33add two more games. But obviously it didn't happen, and that was probably
- 15:39never gonna happen or even crossed anybody's mind on the committee. But we are
- 15:43here, so Alabama and Michigan. Dak who's going to be maybe the lines
- 15:48are already out. I haven't looked at him much. It means Alabama going
- 15:54to be favored in that game. It's Michigan by one and a half,
- 15:58right now, Okay, I don't know. I think I think that tells
- 16:03you a lot though, again, going back to the Alabama Florida state thing,
- 16:07Michigan would have been a lot higher favorite of Florida State. Well did
- 16:11you see the reaction. Yeah, yeah, Michigan's piss yep, God damn
- 16:18it. They won in Florida State. And you know what, I thought
- 16:22that they were gonna get Florida State because Michigan's ad is on the committee.
- 16:29Yeah, and I don't know. I think I think Bama. I think
- 16:37bam Wall wins that game. But it's gonna be a hell of a game
- 16:40though. I think it'll be very low scoring. Yeah, I agree,
- 16:45it's gonna be a fun I don't know which one I'm more excited for.
- 16:49Because Texas Washington I think could be the opposite and be very high schooling.
- 16:55That would be a really fun game. You know, whe on that one.
- 16:57I do not Texas by four and a half. Okay, I thought
- 17:04that was surprising. Yeah, that is interesting. Hey, you know what,
- 17:10you know, who should pick? This is what? This is what
- 17:11everybody should do. The gambling world Vegas should just pick the top four.
- 17:18Yeah, I mean which which I think it would have been. I think
- 17:22it would have been the same top four if they picked it, it would
- 17:25have But the rank I think Alabama would have been one, Well, I
- 17:27don't know. You know what if they backed it, I bet Georgia would
- 17:30have been in. Yeah, which I think about them? Are we?
- 17:37Are we sure they shouldn't have been in Overbama? Well, I you can't
- 17:41put them in Overbama. But if you're truly just telling me I want the
- 17:47best four teams, don't take I mean, take all the wins, losses,
- 17:52whatever, whoever you played out of it. Who are the best four
- 17:53teams in college football? I put Georgia in, I put Alabama in,
- 17:59and I probably you probably probably go Michigan and you probably go Washington. But
- 18:07I mean, to me, those are the best four. I don't know
- 18:14if if Vegas were to rank them based on that, Like if Vegas wanted
- 18:18to get their best four based on people putting money in, that's what I
- 18:22think would happen. Maybe I'm wrong on that. Maybe people think that Texas
- 18:25would beat Georgia on a neutral site. I don't know, would that happen.
- 18:30I mean, that's how you determine it. You go every head to
- 18:33head matchup, you go, Texas, Georgia. Put a line on it
- 18:37all right, then you go, uh, Georgia by six and a half.
- 18:40You go, you go, Michigan, Texas, you go. You
- 18:42go through all the scenarios and you Okay, who's the best teams in?
- 18:47And that's another way of thinking about it and doing it. If you want
- 18:51the best four teams in, take everything else out. But they do have
- 18:53criteria, and I think the way they laid out their criteria they hit it
- 18:57the best they could from a viewer standpoint. I'm I'm glad the way they
- 19:03did though, because it'll be a lot more fun watching Michigan BAMA than freaking
- 19:07Florida State. Michigan agreed, agreed, And I know that's not one of
- 19:12their criteria, but bottom line is, that's just a true statement. And
- 19:15nobody wanted to watch Florida State. They didn't. That quarterback was eight for
- 19:19twenty one with fifty five yards. If I'm being honest, I think,
- 19:26I honestly think ESPN might have that might have been some underground work going on
- 19:30there. ESPN would never do that for a playoff committee. You dot,
- 19:37you don't think that's all I got talked about the last few years that ESPN
- 19:42just is tied up with the SEC. And yeah, no, I think
- 19:47there was a little something going on there because I read today last night or
- 19:52a Saturday night after all the games went on, Florida State was minus six
- 19:56hundred to go to the playoffs and then about ten minutes before the show that
- 20:02everything flipped and it went fifty to fifty. Huh, Well, I've not
- 20:06heard that. I didn't realize Florida State was that favored to get there.
- 20:10Yeah, right after all the games got over, I was like, huh,
- 20:12I think there's a little something going on there. That's my conference now
- 20:18though your conference, your SEC conference, yep, SCC. At least I
- 20:26don't got to worry about not getting in anymore. I don't find anyway and
- 20:30hell of it put an SEC team in. Well, any other final thoughts
- 20:38on the playoffs. We'll do it. We'll do a bull preview episode here
- 20:41uh in about a week before the games get kicked off. We'll talk about
- 20:45some of the games we'd like. Maybe we'll do a little trivia on some
- 20:51of the Bowl game names like we've done in the past. We better talk
- 20:56Husker basketball, or maybe we shouldn't talk about it basketball against Create. Dak
- 21:02went to the game yesterday. It looked like a great atmosphere from the beginning
- 21:07from what I could tell on TV. What were your initial takeaways watching that
- 21:11game and we lost, Dak? I think, oh, and he's back
- 21:26there he is. Dak didn't want to give his initial takes on the game.
- 21:30Hello, there we go. I don't know what happened there, but
- 21:34no, that was I don't know. At the beginning of the game,
- 21:38Like you said, the atmosphere was awesome. When Case they hit that and
- 21:42won, I was that place about blue open and then right after that she
- 21:48hit the fan. It was awful to me that game did not come down
- 21:56to Creighton having better players us. I really don't. There's one stat that
- 22:03everybody who watched the game or looked at this tabs No, it's it's a
- 22:06three point percentage. Crayton shot the ship out of the ball, and we
- 22:11did the opposite and did not. There's a stat in the middle of the
- 22:17game that it was just blaringly bad for Nebraska. So the the hard part
- 22:25with that is I didn't feel like we were that much. Whatever it ended
- 22:30up, I didn't think we were that worse than them, But I do
- 22:33think we got out coached from a schematic standpoint, and Creighton did a great
- 22:37job of attacking our defensive scheme, which is very much force baseline. Trapped
- 22:48posts make teams basically shoot threes, and Creyton can do that, and they
- 22:52did that well, and sure enough, that is what cost us the game.
- 22:57And then on the other side of the ball, we could not get
- 23:02a clean look at the rim. And that's dude to freaking calf Brenner being
- 23:06a huge motherfucker down there, and and he is, but rank Mass struggled
- 23:11early and then we couldn't hden outside shot and then there went the game just
- 23:15slowly away from us starting the first half and then obviously into the second half.
- 23:25All they had was really a kids came down to the two players dominating.
- 23:27That's it, freaking Shireman and say, calcul Brenner whatever his name is,
- 23:34guy, that guy has no skill. He's just tall and I hate
- 23:38that guy. He had no skill, I Shireman was It was frustrating.
- 23:48I think you tied whatever Division One record for threes in the first half or
- 23:52maybe I don't know what the official record was that he tied, but he
- 23:55couldn't miss He couldn't miss it, and it just felt like our defensive scheme
- 23:59and straight did not was not keyed in on him. I do think a
- 24:03lot of that too, comes from when we beat him last year up in
- 24:07Omaha. Creighton shot like shit like it was horrible. They did not shoot
- 24:11it well, and I don't know if we were just expecting that to happen
- 24:15again, but it was the exact opposite, and Shireman was a big part
- 24:19of that. But Van Craig's got a lot of shooters. We knew that.
- 24:22That's why their models let it fly. They've they've always done that,
- 24:26so it was no surprise when it happened. It just felt like we never
- 24:29adjusted and Creighton had a very good game plan of swinging the ball on our
- 24:33rotations when we did trap down and getting an open look. So I guess
- 24:37props to McDermott and staff are out coaching Toiberg and I just don't feel like
- 24:44we were that much worse than what the final score showed. You know,
- 24:51if I had a team to bet ten million dollars on them, not winning
- 24:53the title, it'd be crazy because they are just do or die on threes
- 24:57and I don't think you can win title like that. Yeah, and I
- 25:00think from a physicality standpoint, I don't think they're going to be able to
- 25:03do it. I mean, yeah, sweet sixteen maybe for something like that,
- 25:07but I think it's tough to win six in a row in the tournament
- 25:12with what they have. I just wasn't I wasn't impressed by any of their
- 25:17like studs, even Tyshawn Alexander, Like he was fine, Like he's a
- 25:26solid guard, but he's not one of the elite guys that you need to
- 25:27win at all there. So it's not the end of the world for nebrasketball
- 25:33by any means. But the big I mean a really big game here this
- 25:37Wednesday against Minnesota. That's when you gotta win. If we are who we
- 25:41think we are and have potential to maybe make a run to make the tournament
- 25:44this year, you gotta win again against Minnesota, who's one of the worst
- 25:47teams in the Big Ten. You have to do it. And then we
- 25:49play Michigan State on Sunday at home, which don't expect to win that one,
- 25:52but it'll be another test to see how we match up with one of
- 25:56the top teams in the Big Ten. I think there's still a lot to
- 26:02be very hopeful for with this team, even the way that game went,
- 26:06and that would have been a huge resume game for sure. But I think
- 26:11these next two are, especially the next one, that's a resume loss.
- 26:15If you don't if you don't win this one, I don't think Minnesota's gonna
- 26:18be doing anything spectacular in the Big Ten. Yeah, it was just a
- 26:25buzz kill because you walk in now was like, God, damn, this
- 26:29feels like the biggest game the Brass Basketball's had maybe ever. The stadium was
- 26:33rocking, and then I mean it was it was still going midway through the
- 26:37first half, and then once Timon got high and the refts, good god,
- 26:42I've never saw a raft get boot out of the stadium like that.
- 26:45Holy boot them the whole way out. Yeah, it was. It was
- 26:49pretty evident on TV that's what was happening. And yeah, especially basketball officials,
- 26:56but it is very difficult, I think, to officiate a lot of
- 26:59games. All you can ask for his consistency. It just got very out
- 27:04of control. I think early on it was in Nebraska's quote unquote favor and
- 27:10and McDermott let him here, and then it flipped pretty quickly there in the
- 27:14first half to the other side, and and then Fred got mad it.
- 27:21We knew it was going to be a very high intensity game between two Nebraska
- 27:26teams, and yeah, neither side was gonna be pleasant with the officiating.
- 27:33But I just thought that it was funny because you could hear the booze.
- 27:36I don't I mean, I don't think it obviously made an impact on the
- 27:37outcome of the game. It was clearly Creighton's game that they won because of
- 27:45all the reasons we just said, But it was funny just to hear those
- 27:48guys get boomed. I cannot stands because I guarantee you go ask every one
- 27:56of them in that stadium who their very football team is they Nebraska. I
- 28:03bet there's more Iowa fans that you think. Probably there's a lot more than
- 28:10we think. I don't. I think yeah, because they're from Nebraska.
- 28:11I think we just kind of assumed they're Jayskers. But I I'll bet there's
- 28:17a lot more Iowa's. Like when I lived in Omaha, I was surprised
- 28:22the amount of Iowa fans that lived and worked in the Omaha metro area.
- 28:26So yeah, I thought. My biggest takeaway I guess was was basically,
- 28:34I'm not too worried, still moving forward. I just it wasn't like I
- 28:37watched that game and go ship creating it's like so much better than us.
- 28:41No, they just shot it and we did. I think that was the
- 28:45big storyline of the game, and that's that. Honestly, thank you Creyton
- 28:52for blowing the air out of the stadium because my head was pounding, so
- 28:53I didn't really want it to be that loud. Yeah, Sunday was.
- 29:00It was rough. It was rough for Dak and I when we first sat
- 29:06down and it was just roaring, and they're like, oh no, it's
- 29:11not gonna be fun. I had the option to either go to that game
- 29:14or the Michigan State game, and part of me was regretting it. And
- 29:17then I woke up Sunday morning and I'm like, Okay, I'm glad I
- 29:18chose the Michigan State game next week. This, yeah, that one will
- 29:23be fun. I the Minnesota games. That that that's massive, It's huge.
- 29:30I mean, it's the biggest game of the year so far. We
- 29:32cannot come out and lay an egg on that. Okay, Husker volleyball touch
- 29:37on that here. Don't have a whole lot. Besides, we won our
- 29:45first two games as expected, swept both it was it Long Island? Is
- 29:52that right? I really don't know sure? And then Missouri. We got
- 29:56Georgia Tech coming up this weekend and don't know a lot about them. But
- 30:02we are in the sweet sixteen again this year, as expected, and I
- 30:07think our path looks pretty good here to get to the final four. Obviously,
- 30:11we got to play well, but the volleyball team took care of business.
- 30:15I saw Wisconsin and Penn State have to play each other in the sweet
- 30:18sixteen. That's kind of funny. Yeah, what did they so? They
- 30:22play Thursday at one o'clock? I saw. I think that's right, yeah,
- 30:29little little midday volleyball. But yeah, I don't I honestly didn't even
- 30:33know they won until yesterday yesterday night. Yeah, I didn't watch either of
- 30:42the games. I did follow along and saw that we were winning the sets.
- 30:45I think Set three against Long Island was a little bit shaky, but
- 30:49we got it done and got the dub So all right, well what else
- 30:57we got? Dak We got fun updates on your Celtics. You know,
- 31:06no. The only question I got what times Peat play tonight? I thought,
- 31:12I don't they play next? But they got to be in the quarterfinals.
- 31:19Actually, when do the Lakers play? Are they tomorrow night? Yeah?
- 31:22They are tomorrow night nine thirty. I think yep against the Suns.
- 31:26What we haven't talked much about this, We've touched on it a little bit,
- 31:30But what are your thoughts I guess on this NBA playing tournament or not
- 31:37playing tournament mid season tournament in format they did this year. We started out
- 31:41at first, I was like, this is kind of dumb, but it's
- 31:45just come along. I kind of really like it just because it's it gives
- 31:48the regular season a little bit more juice. And and like that Celtics Facers
- 31:53game night, that crowd was rocking. It felt like a playoff game,
- 31:56and for mid December to give them more regular season more juice. It's awesome
- 32:01what I love from a business standpoint that Adam Silver did. And I still
- 32:08think he is a genius. He's gonna go down I think at some point
- 32:12as one of the best commissioners of any professional sports league. He it's just
- 32:16so smart. Because when this topic came up last year, two years,
- 32:20three years ago, whenever it did, everybody was like, no, it's
- 32:22stupid, like don't do this, No one's gonna care about it. To
- 32:25me, it's gone about the exact opposite. And when we say care about
- 32:30it doesn't have to be in a positive or negative way. It draws attention
- 32:34to the sports in general. Yep. And the middle of or towards the
- 32:37end of football season that has tooken over or taken over America for years now.
- 32:43There are people that I that I you know that I just talked to
- 32:45and just hear talking on sports radio that are engaged to the NBA in late
- 32:52November early December, and I think that is the goal. Like everybody was
- 32:57like laughing at the court and how bad the courts were for all these games,
- 33:00Like who gives a shit? How bad they are? I love it
- 33:02people are talking about that's the thing. People are talking about them and seeing
- 33:06them and what good or negative press like that's what that's what they wanted.
- 33:10And the NBA was once again hit on another successful new new implementation of something
- 33:20in their league. And so yeah, shout out to them and we'll see
- 33:22I guess what kind of attention it gets over time and how many adjustments they
- 33:28make. I think, you know, if you change it too much,
- 33:30then it's hard to keep track of wins and records. And like you know,
- 33:35the the Celtics have five have won five of the mid season tournament games
- 33:40over the last ten years. Like, if you adjusted too much, you're
- 33:43not going to get that. But I think right now it did what it
- 33:46needed to do this first year as far as getting viewership during a different sport
- 33:52that usually has taken over America at this point. It had me pissed off
- 33:59on it night mid of December by NBA, that's for sure. Yeah,
- 34:02And that's like normally how I am with NBA. I you know, you
- 34:06watched I watched them the first week games and I kind of get fall football
- 34:12postseason. Then obviously Christmas Day NBA games are always fun to watch and and
- 34:16those matchups, and then you kind of tune it off again and and let
- 34:21kind of college basketball ramp up, and then you tune NBA back on April
- 34:24May June when postseason gets back up. Well, this is this is keeping
- 34:29you engaged throughout the whole year. And the NBA is a long season.
- 34:31It's it's not short, it's eight nine months. It's of the year.
- 34:37Way too long, well, way too long. But they're doing a good
- 34:39job of filling it, I think with with content. So again, shout
- 34:44out to Commissioner Silver, doing a great job. Better best commissioner in our
- 34:49lifetime, I think for sure. Now not if you can just rig it
- 34:53a little bit and make Boston win championship. Yeah, well, they gotta
- 34:58be paid. Gotta find a way we pay. Yeah, you know,
- 35:05bad game, that sounds a bad game. All right, we'll be back
- 35:12this weekend, probably on Sunday. Hopefully maybe we have a quarterback or at
- 35:17least discussion. I'm sure there'll be discussion by then, and hopefully Nebraska ball
- 35:22and Nebraska volleyball still alive with a couple of wins there heading into next week.
- 35:30Did not go ahead? One more one more warning here, dealing Gabriel,
- 35:35I know you're listening. If you go to USC, I will not
- 35:37here for you. Any other team I'll here for yet USC I won't.
- 35:42So pick your poison. You better listen to him, Gabriel. All right,
- 35:50go big Red, We're sooner. Dif
