- 0:42Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is yeah Tuesday
- 0:47Speaker 1: here in Jillette Stadium. We are back from Frankfurt, Germany. Overall,
- 0:54Speaker 1: I think it was a successful trip except for the game,
- 0:57Speaker 1: but otherwise I think the Patriots made their mark on Frankfurt.
- 1:01Speaker 5: I thought it was tremendous the trip itself. I was
- 1:04Speaker 5: a little curious, Matt, what was that Patriots Unfiltered? Oh
- 1:08Speaker 5: isn't there another?
- 1:09Speaker 6: Oh?
- 1:09Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, play that one.
- 1:12Speaker 5: That's the name of the show. I thought we need
- 1:15Speaker 5: But I thought it was I thought there was some
- 1:19Speaker 5: good time. I think that.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Matt, it's Deuce, it's Evan, it's Paul, it's me, it's
- 1:29Speaker 1: Matt Nabooth, And yes, we have returned. The thing that
- 1:33Speaker 1: I hate the most about the trip was we let
- 1:36Speaker 1: the fans down, like the fans were out, and we
- 1:39Speaker 1: didn't well the organization like we we wanted to come
- 1:42Speaker 1: away with a win. So I know, it's not like
- 1:45Speaker 1: we're not going anywhere this year. We're not going to
- 1:47Speaker 1: the playoffs, but at least those fans from Germany and
- 1:50Speaker 1: around would have said, yeah, I came to the game
- 1:53Speaker 1: and I saw my team win, and we couldn't pull
- 1:56Speaker 1: it off the win, and that's my biggest regret of
- 1:58Speaker 1: the whole week. Otherwise, I think it was a successful trip,
- 2:01Speaker 1: but just not being able to pull that win off
- 2:03Speaker 1: for those fans that were there. I mean, I don't
- 2:05Speaker 1: know if you guys saw it. You see the fan
- 2:07Speaker 1: march on Sunday morning. That was awesome with the marching
- 2:10Speaker 1: band and like a thousand people.
- 2:12Speaker 8: I mean it was great.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that was awesome, and so I I
- 2:17Speaker 1: you know, I want to thank all the fans of
- 2:19Speaker 1: Germany and the surrounding area and sorry we couldn't get
- 2:23Speaker 1: you the win.
- 2:23Speaker 9: That was it's not our fault, Fred, Okay.
- 2:25Speaker 7: It wasn't our fault, but I totally agree.
- 2:27Speaker 10: My favorite part was was that second that and Friday
- 2:29Speaker 10: night at Gibson's with all the Patriots on Filter fans
- 2:31Speaker 10: that came up to us and waited in line to
- 2:34Speaker 10: tell us how much they enjoyed the show.
- 2:35Speaker 9: And there was a line.
- 2:36Speaker 5: There was a line, and that was so cool. I
- 2:39Speaker 5: have to admit that was really cool.
- 2:41Speaker 10: You know, people like, do you mind if I take
- 2:42Speaker 10: a self I'm like, of course, this is the highlight
- 2:44Speaker 10: of my trip. So that for me made it all
- 2:46Speaker 10: meeting all you guys out there, So thank you for
- 2:48Speaker 10: everyone that came out. And I was disappointing couldn't get win,
- 2:51Speaker 10: couln't get a touchdown.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Even that was I think more people recognize me in
- 2:54Speaker 1: Germany than here.
- 2:55Speaker 9: Absolutely, Yeah, yeah, like David Hasselhoff.
- 2:58Speaker 7: Not me, but know I could see that you're bigger
- 3:01Speaker 7: in the UK, Paul. It was.
- 3:03Speaker 5: It was a lot of fun. And that post the
- 3:06Speaker 5: post show portion at Gibson's was that was pretty cool.
- 3:10Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 3:11Speaker 9: Yeah, we.
- 3:13Speaker 5: Were like the Beatles and I try to tell Mike
- 3:16Speaker 5: and Evan that it was going to be and that
- 3:18Speaker 5: exceeded even my expectations. But like I, I try to
- 3:23Speaker 5: tell them that people are going to come up to
- 3:25Speaker 5: you randomly and you just you know, want to talk
- 3:27Speaker 5: and and that's exactly what happened.
- 3:29Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 3:30Speaker 9: I was walking out of the stadium to get to
- 3:31Speaker 9: the buses after the game and people were still stopping me. Like,
- 3:34Speaker 9: as I was walking across the I.
- 3:37Speaker 7: Love you so much, mad We listened to you all
- 3:40Speaker 7: the time.
- 3:41Speaker 9: They're like, can you sign this? I was like, you
- 3:43Speaker 9: want me to sign it? Like why why do you
- 3:44Speaker 9: want me to sign it?
- 3:45Speaker 5: I don't want to devalue.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that was That was great and I lost
- 3:52Speaker 1: Oh about Gibson in that show. We had a lot
- 3:54Speaker 1: of people say, what happened to the show? It didn't
- 3:56Speaker 1: you know, it didn't upload, And that was the plan
- 3:59Speaker 1: going in. We knew there was going to be music
- 4:01Speaker 1: playing in the background, and because of licensing issues, if
- 4:04Speaker 1: it's you know, not from our licensed library, we can't
- 4:08Speaker 1: put it on demand. So you know, we knew going
- 4:11Speaker 1: in that we weren't going to post that show on demand.
- 4:14Speaker 1: But as it turns out, you probably couldn't discern the
- 4:16Speaker 1: music anyway.
- 4:17Speaker 10: That face was like that's not what everybody upstairs told
- 4:20Speaker 10: me today. They said that that show sounded like and
- 4:23Speaker 10: you know, it's it's too bad people missed it because
- 4:25Speaker 10: it was a fast and loose show. Had we had
- 4:28Speaker 10: some silly commentary that that's now lost forever.
- 4:30Speaker 7: So sorry, guys, We'll tell what we.
- 4:32Speaker 5: Do just so you know, Mike was the king of
- 4:33Speaker 5: the fast and loose commentary.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I mean you have to you have to listen live.
- 4:38Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 10: I try to warn people when I put the tweet out,
- 4:40Speaker 10: like listen now or lose it forever.
- 4:41Speaker 9: You know.
- 4:42Speaker 7: Yeah, so a top gun taking.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Yeah, but hey, but great experience for all of us.
- 4:49Speaker 1: The game itself, the fans singing, you know, they no
- 4:55Speaker 1: matter what was going on, they were going to have
- 4:57Speaker 1: a good time. You know, it didn't really I know,
- 4:59Speaker 1: what at it to the pagers fans what happened on
- 5:01Speaker 1: the field, But they were there and they were going
- 5:03Speaker 1: to have a good time regardless, and they really did.
- 5:06Speaker 11: Yea.
- 5:06Speaker 10: Even the media, like the international media came in and
- 5:08Speaker 10: asked questions like the press conference was pretty fun, like
- 5:10Speaker 10: it was loose. It was you know, Bill was good mood.
- 5:12Speaker 10: The players were all in good moods. Some fun questions,
- 5:15Speaker 10: you know, from around the world and people getting a
- 5:17Speaker 10: chance to, you know, ask the coaches and the players
- 5:20Speaker 10: some questions.
- 5:20Speaker 5: For the first time, seven lost his job.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Evan was a children lover. Yeah, quarterback Mack called out
- 5:29Speaker 1: a guy from the UK as an offensive coach, and
- 5:32Speaker 1: right in front of him was the true offensive coach.
- 5:35Speaker 5: Evan, you should have gone to throw your hands up
- 5:37Speaker 5: and discuss that.
- 5:39Speaker 9: Just got up and probably I thought about it, but
- 5:41Speaker 9: you know, I stayed professional. Mac.
- 5:45Speaker 1: How could you storm out?
- 5:47Speaker 5: After all we've been through.
- 5:49Speaker 10: It's funnier if he's like weaving his way through all
- 5:50Speaker 10: those chairs and like making a whole dramatic exit.
- 5:53Speaker 7: That takes way too Like what's.
- 5:55Speaker 5: He doing, I'm trying to storm out?
- 5:57Speaker 7: Excuse me, excuse me, I'm very upset. Excuse me.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Anyway, But you know, we have to talk about the game. Yeah,
- 6:05Speaker 1: it was ridiculous, And to me it was weird because
- 6:11Speaker 1: last night the Bills lost to the Broncos and this
- 6:14Speaker 1: morning they announced they fired their offensive coordinator. Yeah, what
- 6:18Speaker 1: the hell are we doing? I mean, like not to
- 6:21Speaker 1: say anything but Bill o'bright, but like we're worse than that,
- 6:25Speaker 1: you know, and the Bills are like we can't stomach
- 6:27Speaker 1: this anymore. And they made it change right away. Some's
- 6:30Speaker 1: got to give. I mean two field goals, you know,
- 6:34Speaker 1: and you know we're not playing the eighty five Bears here.
- 6:37Speaker 10: Yeah, And I mean it kind of started out like positive,
- 6:40Speaker 10: Like that first drive. It was like they're kind of
- 6:42Speaker 10: stringing some stuff together. It was one of their you know,
- 6:43Speaker 10: better drives. But yeah, it's just it didn't it didn't
- 6:46Speaker 10: really matter.
- 6:47Speaker 5: And yeah, I can't believe that they lost to that team.
- 6:51Speaker 10: He had so many chances to do it, and usually
- 6:53Speaker 10: that's a Patriots game that they win almost every time,
- 6:56Speaker 10: even in these dark days.
- 6:57Speaker 5: Like win on the margins.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Yeah, and they but down to the nine at the
- 7:01Speaker 1: end of the game or what nine or thirteen whatever
- 7:03Speaker 1: it was. But I'm thinking, okay, they're gonna punch this in.
- 7:07Speaker 1: They're gonna do it there, and then that throw and
- 7:09Speaker 1: I you know, it's an outdoor press box in Frankfurt,
- 7:12Speaker 1: and I just yelled out, oh Mac, you know, like
- 7:15Speaker 1: I couldn't help myself.
- 7:17Speaker 5: You really, Yeah, Well, the only one that heard it
- 7:19Speaker 5: on everybody, like I think everybody.
- 7:21Speaker 9: I think everyone in our road did. Yeah, I mean,
- 7:24Speaker 9: I mean it was never do that open air press
- 7:27Speaker 9: boxes Fred is a little bit more.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's a little different because you're blending with
- 7:32Speaker 1: everybody else.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Yeah, it just felt like.
- 7:34Speaker 9: That's why I love him, because it's of him.
- 7:37Speaker 10: It just felt like that pick was the culmination of
- 7:39Speaker 10: so many things, like season long, you know, kind of
- 7:41Speaker 10: Max's career long, we've seen him going down this path
- 7:44Speaker 10: of throwing off his back foot. He hasn't looked comfortable
- 7:46Speaker 10: in the pocket, and you know, the offensive line has
- 7:48Speaker 10: given him good reason not to. But I think the
- 7:50Speaker 10: thing that just stood out with me with Mac is
- 7:51Speaker 10: just like he has no escapability.
- 7:53Speaker 7: He has no ability to extend plays.
- 7:56Speaker 10: It's if pressure is there, he's turtling on it, and
- 7:59Speaker 10: you know, he just and it slowly devolved to the
- 8:01Speaker 10: point where that was probably his, you know, his worst
- 8:04Speaker 10: interception of the year.
- 8:05Speaker 1: And and it was a perfect example or comparison because
- 8:09Speaker 1: they're going up against Gardner Minshew, who he's not that
- 8:11Speaker 1: good at quarterback, yet he was doing what we need
- 8:14Speaker 1: Mac to do, which was extending plays, throwing on the run,
- 8:17Speaker 1: finding guys.
- 8:18Speaker 5: I think those two guys had a competition to see
- 8:20Speaker 5: who could be worse.
- 8:22Speaker 1: But if Mac had made as many plays on the run,
- 8:26Speaker 1: extending plays when you know, flushed out of the pocket
- 8:29Speaker 1: that Minshew did, we would have won that game.
- 8:31Speaker 5: In all serious, just for a split second. I think
- 8:35Speaker 5: they both had the same problem. They both continued to
- 8:38Speaker 5: try to get to move around and make plays off
- 8:41Speaker 5: platform that didn't need to be happening.
- 8:43Speaker 1: And I think it could be true. But he was
- 8:45Speaker 1: hitting Pittman or.
- 8:45Speaker 5: Who he missed way more than he made is the point.
- 8:48Speaker 5: And if he just sat there, and I'm talking about
- 8:50Speaker 5: Minshew now, just sat there and threw the ball, I
- 8:52Speaker 5: think there were plays to be made. I think he
- 8:54Speaker 5: had open guys. Well that's fine, but he also was
- 8:56Speaker 5: victimized by some drops.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'd rather miss the play than get sacked.
- 9:00Speaker 5: I thought, Mac and I'd be curious to see. I know,
- 9:03Speaker 5: you know, we're a couple of days. You move now.
- 9:04Speaker 5: So Evan's you know, all through his film study. Listen,
- 9:08Speaker 5: the pass protection wasn't great. I'm not trying to tell
- 9:10Speaker 5: you that this offensive line is is a great offensive line.
- 9:13Speaker 5: I just didn't think there was that much immediate pressure
- 9:16Speaker 5: that he constantly and I think even down to the
- 9:19Speaker 5: last interception, which was horrific, it was such a combination
- 9:23Speaker 5: of bad everything. Like, I think he felt pressure that
- 9:26Speaker 5: wasn't there. He as Evan has been talking about for
- 9:29Speaker 5: months now, fading away, throwing off his back foot while
- 9:33Speaker 5: falling back, badly under throwing the ball because he doesn't
- 9:37Speaker 5: have the skill set to get it where it wants
- 9:38Speaker 5: to go. And I just think across the board, bad throw,
- 9:42Speaker 5: bad bad decision, bad everything. I mean, he threw it
- 9:45Speaker 5: to the right guy. It was wide open, but.
- 9:48Speaker 1: He was open. He needed to get it.
- 9:49Speaker 5: First to throw it. I didn't think like the five
- 9:54Speaker 5: sacks in the first half, I didn't think it was
- 9:56Speaker 5: a train wreck. Now that certainly indicates it's a train wreck.
- 10:00Speaker 5: And I'm not telling you that they were great. There
- 10:02Speaker 5: was some pressure, and I just thought a good quarterback
- 10:05Speaker 5: would have dealt with that pressure a lot better than
- 10:07Speaker 5: he did. Yeah, I'm not telling you it was all
- 10:08Speaker 5: on Mac. The sack, I will say he might have
- 10:10Speaker 5: all been the fault of the protection. No, but I
- 10:12Speaker 5: just thought a good quarterback handle I will give.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Mac credit for one thing. I thought in his press
- 10:17Speaker 1: conference he had the most human, honest answer I've ever
- 10:20Speaker 1: heard him give. And I you know, when they asked him,
- 10:24Speaker 1: do you think Belichick still has faith in you, and
- 10:26Speaker 1: he says I need to play better. And the way
- 10:28Speaker 1: I played, I don't know that was as honest as
- 10:32Speaker 1: you could be and as human as you could be
- 10:34Speaker 1: in an answer.
- 10:35Speaker 7: Kind of defeated.
- 10:35Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, I'll just say my piece real quick
- 10:38Speaker 10: before Evan jumps in. But I mean I felt, like,
- 10:41Speaker 10: you know, some of the pressures. I mean I went
- 10:42Speaker 10: through watch all those sacks. It's just, yeah, I think
- 10:44Speaker 10: there is pressure there. But like I said, he just
- 10:46Speaker 10: has no ability to avoid the rush. So if there
- 10:48Speaker 10: is pressure, he's going down. There's no ability to get away,
- 10:51Speaker 10: to make a subtle side step and get around a
- 10:53Speaker 10: guy and then deliver it.
- 10:54Speaker 7: It's just if there's pressure, he's done.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Period.
- 10:57Speaker 7: Yeah, go ahead, Evan.
- 10:59Speaker 9: It's over time of death. Fourth quarter, sixteen four minutes
- 11:03Speaker 9: and sixteen seconds. I'm out. I'm all the way.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Out, like like four weeks now.
- 11:10Speaker 9: No, because I gave him as long as a leash
- 11:13Speaker 9: as maybe anybody, right, Like, I kept on trying to
- 11:16Speaker 9: give him a chance and trying to give him a chance.
- 11:19Speaker 9: I said this to you, do so upstairs. This is
- 11:21Speaker 9: one of those games against the backup quarterback in Gardner
- 11:24Speaker 9: minshew who stinks like he's awful that if you're the guy,
- 11:29Speaker 9: if you're a franchise quarterback, I don't care. If you're
- 11:32Speaker 9: under duress, I don't care if you have nobody to
- 11:34Speaker 9: throw to. You find a way to score eleven points
- 11:36Speaker 9: to win the freaking game, right like you just you
- 11:39Speaker 9: have to be able to find a way to win
- 11:40Speaker 9: a game like that. And for all the reasons that
- 11:44Speaker 9: you guys said, you know, you know, in terms of
- 11:46Speaker 9: the actual game itself, I think you guys summed it
- 11:48Speaker 9: up well, and you have the back foot stuff. Just
- 11:51Speaker 9: a deer in the headlights in the pocket just has
- 11:54Speaker 9: absolutely no mobility, no ability, you know, even subtle mobility,
- 11:58Speaker 9: Like it doesn't even have to be these you know,
- 12:02Speaker 9: big like Josh Allen type of like run around plays.
- 12:05Speaker 9: It's just just sides take a step to your left
- 12:08Speaker 9: or right and let the guy drive by you right
- 12:11Speaker 9: like just you know, kind of make some subtle movements
- 12:13Speaker 9: and things like that. It just none of it. He
- 12:16Speaker 9: is a absolute deer in the headlights in the pocket.
- 12:19Speaker 5: I'm glad to hear you say that, because that's how
- 12:21Speaker 5: Mike and I sort of talked about in the post
- 12:23Speaker 5: game and sometimes everybody goes back and they look like
- 12:26Speaker 5: he had no chance, He had no chance. I didn't
- 12:27Speaker 5: see it that way. I didn't think the protection was good.
- 12:30Speaker 5: I'm not I'm not telling you what was good, but
- 12:33Speaker 5: I just thought there were opportunities to like, Okay, you're
- 12:35Speaker 5: gonna get hit when you throw this one. Stand in
- 12:38Speaker 5: you see that guy's coming, make the throw, you know,
- 12:42Speaker 5: And people are like, because even now I still see
- 12:44Speaker 5: these like these still shots on Twitter, which that's the
- 12:47Speaker 5: stills really drive me crazy. No one's even looking back
- 12:50Speaker 5: for a pass, like you have to throw the ball
- 12:55Speaker 5: in anticipation.
- 12:56Speaker 7: I hate that so much.
- 12:57Speaker 5: The no one's even looking for the ball. I'm like,
- 12:59Speaker 5: what what are you doing? You realize that this is
- 13:01Speaker 5: the NFL.
- 13:02Speaker 10: It's not everybody go out in the route, turn around right,
- 13:04Speaker 10: No to you, No to you.
- 13:06Speaker 7: Oh hey, you're still like you throw the ball.
- 13:08Speaker 5: When he's still running the route, Like, but you know
- 13:11Speaker 5: we could go through him.
- 13:11Speaker 10: I mean Buckner on one, I think, I mean you
- 13:13Speaker 10: wrote about with just I mean taking cold strange and
- 13:15Speaker 10: just like.
- 13:17Speaker 7: Little guard, you're trying to block me goodbye, you.
- 13:21Speaker 10: Know, and then you had so get get beat really cleanly, right,
- 13:24Speaker 10: across his face. Vermandre just completely whiffed on trying to
- 13:28Speaker 10: pick up a blitzer. So, you know, it wasn't I
- 13:31Speaker 10: mean I read Greg too, and Greg was just like
- 13:33Speaker 10: it was the pressure.
- 13:34Speaker 7: You know, he kind of was.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Right, and I'm like, enough, yeah, I'm out changed. The
- 13:40Speaker 5: way they do e clips, I can't read him.
- 13:41Speaker 9: Yeah, it was.
- 13:41Speaker 7: It was in the It was in the first paragraph.
- 13:44Speaker 1: The fact that Greg sticks to that, you know mantra, Yeah,
- 13:48Speaker 1: means that Matt's one of his sources. Really well, it
- 13:51Speaker 1: has to be.
- 13:51Speaker 5: I mean, he's an offensive line guy too when he
- 13:53Speaker 5: loves the defensive.
- 13:54Speaker 7: I just I mean, I don't think he's necessarily.
- 13:56Speaker 10: Wrong because the pressure was there, but I just think
- 13:58Speaker 10: that there were opportunities for a savvy quarterback to, like
- 14:01Speaker 10: Evan said, take a step up, take a step to.
- 14:03Speaker 5: The left, you know, to allow the you know how like.
- 14:07Speaker 10: God, I hate doing the Brady comparisons, but you know,
- 14:09Speaker 10: a good quarterback they know how to step up, they
- 14:11Speaker 10: know where the pressures.
- 14:12Speaker 7: They have an innate sense of it. He has no
- 14:14Speaker 7: innate sense of it. And it's Bray didn't.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Run around, but it was, like you said, the subtle
- 14:18Speaker 1: movement left right forward.
- 14:20Speaker 5: I mean, you know, like twenty years into his career
- 14:22Speaker 5: before he started really watching the rush. Because even Brady
- 14:25Speaker 5: at the end started sort of saying, you know, making
- 14:27Speaker 5: some business choices.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Well, I think he did it out of frustration. Yeah,
- 14:31Speaker 1: some of it was performative, you know, throwing the ball
- 14:33Speaker 1: on the ground and all that.
- 14:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not saying I just think at some point
- 14:37Speaker 5: you get tired of taking.
- 14:38Speaker 1: It, That's what i mean. But like he was just upset.
- 14:41Speaker 5: And he performative. I'm no longer trying to win. I'm
- 14:44Speaker 5: just gonna throw the ball into the ground.
- 14:45Speaker 9: There's absolutely no question that the pressure this the pressure
- 14:50Speaker 9: in this game was up there with Dallas and New Orleans.
- 14:53Speaker 9: Like it was that bad. I mean, he was under
- 14:56Speaker 9: siege and you met you brought up Cole Strange, who
- 15:00Speaker 9: I had him for six pressures in this game, just
- 15:02Speaker 9: absolutely horrible. And he him and it's him and so
- 15:07Speaker 9: run blocked pretty well. Like I'll give him that. Those
- 15:11Speaker 9: two guys and on when who really were game changers
- 15:13Speaker 9: in the run game in the second half. But in
- 15:16Speaker 9: past this is a passing leak. So if you look
- 15:20Speaker 9: at a guy like So's been okay in pass protection
- 15:22Speaker 9: until this point. This is probably other than the Eagle game,
- 15:25Speaker 9: which was his first game ever. This is probably his
- 15:28Speaker 9: worst game in pass pro. But it was strange. If
- 15:31Speaker 9: you can't pass protect in the NFL in twenty twenty three,
- 15:34Speaker 9: then I can't have You're you're no good to me,
- 15:36Speaker 9: like I don't. I don't care how good of a
- 15:38Speaker 9: run blocker you are. If you can't keep a guy
- 15:41Speaker 9: from harassing your quarterback for four straight quarters, then it's
- 15:45Speaker 9: then it's no good. But there were three plays in
- 15:48Speaker 9: this game and I broke him down and after further review, uh,
- 15:51Speaker 9: you know, one of them was the one that O'Brien
- 15:54Speaker 9: shooed him out on the sideline where he's got three
- 15:56Speaker 9: open receivers, like you just you have to make a throw.
- 15:59Speaker 9: I don't care which throw you decide to make, but
- 16:01Speaker 9: the ball's got to come out, and it certainly can't
- 16:03Speaker 9: come out. And there's like underhand shot put thing that
- 16:06Speaker 9: he did over to Remondra Stevenson that probably should have
- 16:09Speaker 9: been a pick six, but Remandre luckily got a hand
- 16:11Speaker 9: on it to knock the ball down before the corner
- 16:14Speaker 9: got to it. The past to Hunter Henry in the
- 16:16Speaker 9: back of the end zone, just a duck, like an
- 16:19Speaker 9: absolute quail. And then the interception, Oh yeah, thank you
- 16:24Speaker 9: put that in my head. Just ron Club, Like, first
- 16:29Speaker 9: of all, drive the ball in there, right, what are
- 16:31Speaker 9: you floating it up there for? Drive the ball in there?
- 16:35Speaker 9: Totally inaccurate. Through it so early that by the time
- 16:38Speaker 9: Hunter Henry gets his head around to look for the ball,
- 16:40Speaker 9: it's already over his head. And so he's like looking around, like, well,
- 16:43Speaker 9: where the heck is the ball. He knew he was
- 16:45Speaker 9: it was coming to him, but he didn't know where
- 16:46Speaker 9: the football was. And then the interception is the worst
- 16:50Speaker 9: throw I've ever seen a quarterback make. I think it's
- 16:53Speaker 9: up there. I mean it's almost like it was up there.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Throw it like, I don't understand how it doesn't reach
- 17:00Speaker 1: the receiver, not even close. Unless he thought that Colt
- 17:03Speaker 1: was a patriot, like it.
- 17:05Speaker 10: It didn't even have a ship, like he thought magic
- 17:07Speaker 10: was going to get it there somehow, because he's just.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Just like, man, you had to fire it because you
- 17:10Speaker 1: had to get over a layer, you know, where there
- 17:13Speaker 1: were defenders in front. But you've got the tallest guy
- 17:15Speaker 1: in that area. There's a place to put that ball
- 17:18Speaker 1: where Gasiki can catch it and only he can and like,
- 17:23Speaker 1: I don't know what he was thinking.
- 17:24Speaker 9: I honestly say this, and I don't mean to be
- 17:27Speaker 9: like rude. I think Paul can make that throw like that,
- 17:31Speaker 9: That Dad throw is as wide open. I don't care
- 17:34Speaker 9: what level of football you're playing. That is as wide
- 17:37Speaker 9: open as the receiver gets. I think I agree, because yeah,
- 17:40Speaker 9: you could probably make it catching.
- 17:42Speaker 5: That's the kind of throw that you don't need, Like
- 17:44Speaker 5: the arm strength isn't No, you just lob it over
- 17:46Speaker 5: the guy and over the top and just allow you
- 17:49Speaker 5: you know, it's an easy it's an easy throw and catch.
- 17:53Speaker 12: That.
- 17:54Speaker 5: I wanted to go back to the play that he
- 17:56Speaker 5: got wrapped up on and try to underhand shovel it
- 17:58Speaker 5: to to Stevenson because I'm glad Evan brought up the
- 18:01Speaker 5: fact that there were three people open on that play
- 18:04Speaker 5: because a lot of people said, like, if he had
- 18:06Speaker 5: just thrown at the Stevenson right away, he's wide open
- 18:08Speaker 5: up there. Yeah, he was like, he's out in the flat,
- 18:10Speaker 5: he's got an easy first down. But that's not obviously
- 18:13Speaker 5: that's not where his head took him. Yeah, Like whatever
- 18:15Speaker 5: the progression was, it wasn't to start there that's a checkdown.
- 18:19Speaker 5: But he had other options and somehow still allowed the press,
- 18:22Speaker 5: and that was one of the plays. Yeah, there was pressure.
- 18:25Speaker 5: Guys flashed, but to the point where you couldn't find
- 18:30Speaker 5: any receiver that looked like like it looked like he
- 18:33Speaker 5: had options on that play.
- 18:34Speaker 9: He had multiple He had Hunter over the middle. I
- 18:38Speaker 9: think he probably could have made the throw. He's waiting
- 18:40Speaker 9: for the linebacker to declare. You know, he's holding the ball.
- 18:44Speaker 9: Pop Douglas is running like a little shallow cross and
- 18:47Speaker 9: that linebacker's either going to stay back and he's just
- 18:49Speaker 9: gonna dump into Pop Douglas for the first down, or
- 18:52Speaker 9: if that linebacker comes up and jumps Pop Douglas and
- 18:54Speaker 9: he can throw the pass to Hunter Henry between the
- 18:56Speaker 9: two safeties. So he's holding the ball waiting for that
- 18:59Speaker 9: to develop, which I understand his process from that standpoint,
- 19:03Speaker 9: but he just froze like he just froze on the
- 19:05Speaker 9: read and Juju Smith Schuster is open for a touchdown
- 19:09Speaker 9: like all by himself on the right sideline, and then
- 19:12Speaker 9: Remandra is open in the flat just for the little checkdown.
- 19:15Speaker 9: Bill O'Brien, you know, we we haven't gotten to talk
- 19:17Speaker 9: to him yet. This week. Sometimes during the bye week,
- 19:19Speaker 9: we don't.
- 19:20Speaker 1: You may not want to talk on the sideline.
- 19:23Speaker 5: I love that, and not because I'm Mac. I just
- 19:25Speaker 5: think that's Billy Oh. That's how he coaches. Yeah, I
- 19:30Speaker 5: don't know. I don't like to guess at to what
- 19:34Speaker 5: he was reacting to, So I guess it's what you're
- 19:36Speaker 5: talking about, Like, let's assume that's what he was yelling about.
- 19:42Speaker 9: Totally warranted. I mean, it's just it's there, like it's
- 19:45Speaker 9: it's it's there in multiple places, like you just have
- 19:48Speaker 9: to make a throw in that situation. You can't just stay.
- 19:50Speaker 5: I just thought, like the visual Fred, I don't know
- 19:52Speaker 5: if you did you actually catch the visual on.
- 19:54Speaker 1: No, we were actually it's the rare time where we
- 19:56Speaker 1: were sitting behind the Patriots bench, so we didn't have
- 19:59Speaker 1: a good look of what's going usually.
- 20:00Speaker 5: Working, you didn't see the market. Okay, so Billy O
- 20:03Speaker 5: and Mac are on the bench and Billy Oh's got
- 20:05Speaker 5: the surface. You know, he's like showing him and it's
- 20:08Speaker 5: really demonstrative. Anybody with a set of eyes knew what
- 20:12Speaker 5: was going on. Billy Oh. Yeah, Okay, Bill is right
- 20:16Speaker 5: in front. Bill saw that, and it's just kind of
- 20:19Speaker 5: like looking through the polar a.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Nothing's happening, you know, nothing to see.
- 20:23Speaker 5: Here, but you know we can hear it right and
- 20:25Speaker 5: get you know, not surprisingly you know too, you know
- 20:29Speaker 5: two series later they made the move. Now, I I
- 20:33Speaker 5: don't know how you guys feel about the timing of
- 20:35Speaker 5: the move. I'm with Evan one thousand percent. The move
- 20:37Speaker 5: had to make, had to be made. I just think
- 20:39Speaker 5: that he went they waited too long, like once you
- 20:41Speaker 5: get you know, a minute fifty two on your own
- 20:43Speaker 5: fourteen yard line with no timeouts. Yeah, hey hey kid,
- 20:48Speaker 5: call win me again.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Yeah, well I I hear that too late then. But
- 20:52Speaker 1: you know, people on our row were saying, you know,
- 20:54Speaker 1: they got to put in Zappie, and I was thinking, like,
- 20:56Speaker 1: it's not going to get any better with Zappi.
- 20:58Speaker 5: I mean, that's probably what we're gonna be talking about
- 21:01Speaker 5: the rest of the season too. I gotta be honest
- 21:03Speaker 5: with you. He made two throws that I didn't see
- 21:07Speaker 5: from Mac all day, and then he made another. Listen,
- 21:10Speaker 5: you gotta try to try. You're running a play. Was
- 21:12Speaker 5: dumb play, dumb play by Zappi to try like it
- 21:15Speaker 5: wasn't there. It didn't work. You try to fake spike. Yeah,
- 21:18Speaker 5: and what did I say? What did you do? Defensive
- 21:21Speaker 5: team meeting? You can't do that? Throw it away and live.
- 21:24Speaker 9: To fight, and you have to. You have to. After
- 21:27Speaker 9: that interception, you got to bench him. Like I tweeted
- 21:31Speaker 9: at the time, I was like, that is a bench
- 21:32Speaker 9: able turnover, like you you just can't. You can't the
- 21:36Speaker 9: rest surprise though, uh I was, I'm not because that
- 21:41Speaker 9: that to me, that interception and the body language that
- 21:45Speaker 9: Mac had on the field and then walking off the field,
- 21:48Speaker 9: to me, that was curtains on his Patriots career, like
- 21:50Speaker 9: like it's over. But I just I don't think he
- 21:53Speaker 9: plays another snapfell It certainly.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Will be if if Belichick stays like he's I don't
- 21:58Speaker 5: think he'll ever be Belichick. Yeah, I'm gonna do. I'll
- 22:02Speaker 5: do anism. He might start another game this year, He
- 22:04Speaker 5: might be the Patriots starting quarterback in the game. He
- 22:06Speaker 5: will never again be the Patriots starter.
- 22:08Speaker 1: If I hear you, you know, and hopefully you know,
- 22:12Speaker 1: the obituary on Mac will be written. You know at
- 22:15Speaker 1: some point the season no longer quarter from from the
- 22:20Speaker 1: first season. In my opinion, they mishandled him right from
- 22:24Speaker 1: the get go and I said it in year one.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I said, they're managing him too much. They're not letting
- 22:30Speaker 1: him make mistakes. You got to let this guy make
- 22:33Speaker 1: his mistakes, you know, and understand his limits and how
- 22:36Speaker 1: to do things. And I think they managed him too
- 22:38Speaker 1: much that first season, and he got a false sense
- 22:41Speaker 1: of security, you know, a false sense of security. And
- 22:45Speaker 1: then take and then by in year two, we all
- 22:48Speaker 1: know the disaster that was. But I think they mismanaged
- 22:52Speaker 1: him from year one. I go back, He's not Peyton Manning,
- 22:54Speaker 1: but I go back to Peyton Manning. His first year.
- 22:57Speaker 1: He had way more interceptions than he had touchdowns. He
- 22:59Speaker 1: looked terrible, but people knew he's gonna be fine. Just
- 23:03Speaker 1: let him. And he learned that first season how to
- 23:06Speaker 1: be an NFL quarterback. Mac didn't learn in his first
- 23:10Speaker 1: season how to be an NFL quarterback. He was managed
- 23:13Speaker 1: too closely.
- 23:15Speaker 10: Well, do you think, though, he would have had the
- 23:17Speaker 10: same success if he wasn't managed like that in twenty twenty.
- 23:21Speaker 1: All that other stuff is valid, the lack of help,
- 23:24Speaker 1: the lack of offensive line, you know, the Matt Patricia,
- 23:28Speaker 1: all that valid.
- 23:28Speaker 5: Mike is saying, do you think he would have been
- 23:30Speaker 5: any good if they didn't, I think, but at least
- 23:33Speaker 5: I think they coped something out of him.
- 23:36Speaker 1: But look how many people fans included were duped after
- 23:39Speaker 1: that first season. How many times do we get the
- 23:41Speaker 1: email of the Colt Well, we made the playoffs, but
- 23:44Speaker 1: he was the best quarterback down.
- 23:46Speaker 5: I know we know how to break that down.
- 23:47Speaker 10: I just I mean, I the feeling I have is
- 23:50Speaker 10: that I know they didn't do him a lot of
- 23:51Speaker 10: favors and they made it hard on him, But I
- 23:53Speaker 10: think we're ending up. We're always going to end up
- 23:55Speaker 10: at the same place that we're at right now that
- 23:56Speaker 10: he is maybe the guy that he's not. He doesn't
- 23:58Speaker 10: have the toughness and the you know, the ability under.
- 24:01Speaker 5: Pressure to do those things. I'm not saying you wrong, no,
- 24:04Speaker 5: but I think it's just an interesting take. It's a
- 24:06Speaker 5: little different.
- 24:06Speaker 1: I just think from from that first season he was mishandled.
- 24:10Speaker 1: You know, people people look at the second season, but
- 24:13Speaker 1: I'm looking at the first And I said it during
- 24:15Speaker 1: the season, so this is in hindsight, like how they
- 24:17Speaker 1: weren't even allowing him to throw into the end zone
- 24:19Speaker 1: either that or he wasn't doing it on his own,
- 24:21Speaker 1: and that should have been a red flag right there.
- 24:23Speaker 5: But based on what we've seen since, maybe they shouldn't
- 24:26Speaker 5: have been allowing him to throw the ball into the
- 24:27Speaker 5: end zone. But I think that's Mike's point, I know.
- 24:29Speaker 1: But play calling and everything, I think they he was
- 24:32Speaker 1: highly managed to not make mistakes in his first year,
- 24:35Speaker 1: and he didn't.
- 24:36Speaker 10: I mean, I mean, you know, for the most part,
- 24:39Speaker 10: we can talk about down the end of that season.
- 24:41Speaker 7: I mean, I I mean, I see what you're saying.
- 24:43Speaker 10: I just I just wonder if we would even have
- 24:44Speaker 10: gotten past the first season if they hadn't had tight
- 24:47Speaker 10: reins on him, and it would have been like, oh
- 24:48Speaker 10: my god, Mac Jones. And you know, if he had
- 24:51Speaker 10: ten touchdowns and sixteen interceptions, you.
- 24:53Speaker 7: Know, would would what would where we be?
- 24:54Speaker 5: Because I think he gets to that offseason people would
- 24:56Speaker 5: be looking for the quarterback.
- 24:57Speaker 1: He I think he ended that first season thinking he
- 25:00Speaker 1: knew what it was like to be an NFL quarterback
- 25:02Speaker 1: and he didn't be it. To be the guy, you
- 25:04Speaker 1: have to take chances, you have to put the team
- 25:06Speaker 1: on your shoulders and get that eleventh points however you
- 25:11Speaker 1: do it. However you do it because the balls in
- 25:13Speaker 1: your hand on every play, you know whether it's calling
- 25:17Speaker 1: out the plays of the line and changing them because
- 25:20Speaker 1: what you see, you've got to figure out how to
- 25:22Speaker 1: score eleven points in that game. It's not like they
- 25:24Speaker 1: were playing a great defense.
- 25:26Speaker 9: Well, and my point is too, it's like I would
- 25:29Speaker 9: have had his back today if he had to win
- 25:33Speaker 9: a shootout on Sunday under those conditions, if he had
- 25:36Speaker 9: to score twenty seven points to beat the Colts on
- 25:38Speaker 9: Sunday with that protection and the receiver he's got Juju
- 25:42Speaker 9: Smith Schuster is clearly just washed, and he's got two
- 25:45Speaker 9: rookie six round picks playing wide receiver for him. And
- 25:48Speaker 9: if that was the case, with all that conditions, I
- 25:51Speaker 9: would have said, I mean, what do you expect him
- 25:53Speaker 9: to He's not going to score a lot of points
- 25:54Speaker 9: with this type of environment. But he needed eleven points
- 25:58Speaker 9: like they needed one touchdown dry for him. And he
- 26:01Speaker 9: had four trips into the red zone, right and they
- 26:03Speaker 9: went zero for four.
- 26:04Speaker 5: For four in the red zone. That's tough.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Yeah, So it is what it is. We're at the
- 26:10Speaker 1: buy now. The Patriots are two and eight. I mean,
- 26:13Speaker 1: nine and eight is still in the conversation.
- 26:16Speaker 6: Right.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Kid.
- 26:19Speaker 5: I was going to text you that, but I knew,
- 26:21Speaker 5: like coming back from.
- 26:22Speaker 10: Now, we were already here and we were just living
- 26:25Speaker 10: living our best lives.
- 26:26Speaker 9: Well, it's funny because you know a lot of people
- 26:28Speaker 9: are tweeting last night after the Bills lost that the
- 26:31Speaker 9: AFC is is really it's like the Titans in the
- 26:34Speaker 9: Patriots are the only two teams that aren't really in
- 26:37Speaker 9: it in the AFC.
- 26:37Speaker 5: Everybody else is in it. I saw someone tweeted it's
- 26:40Speaker 5: turned into a blood bath, and it's true. I forget
- 26:42Speaker 5: who tweeted that, but that's true. Like the conferences is
- 26:45Speaker 5: really really deep. And it's funny because when we had
- 26:50Speaker 5: the whole DeAndre Hopkins you know debate, there was a
- 26:54Speaker 5: lot of talk like he went to Tennessee. Do you
- 26:57Speaker 5: go to Tennessee for like? And I was like, I
- 27:00Speaker 5: don't know. I think they're kind of the same as up.
- 27:02Speaker 5: Well they are. Yeah, they're the only two teams, as
- 27:05Speaker 5: Evan said, that are really.
- 27:06Speaker 1: And right now because the Broncos loss is the true
- 27:09Speaker 1: the Patriots have the third pick.
- 27:10Speaker 9: Yeah, so that was kind of where I was getting. Yeah, no,
- 27:15Speaker 9: they're they're at three and as much as you can
- 27:18Speaker 9: look at it and say wow, if they just were
- 27:21Speaker 9: able to win a couple of these games that they
- 27:23Speaker 9: should have won, they'd be in it. I'm kind of
- 27:26Speaker 9: glad they're not, because like what to what to what extent,
- 27:29Speaker 9: Like at this point, the only thing that matters is
- 27:32Speaker 9: Drake may or Caleb Williams. That's it. Like, it's the
- 27:36Speaker 9: only thing that matters. When they play the Giants after
- 27:37Speaker 9: things given, they should lose because that's going to be
- 27:40Speaker 9: a really important game when it comes to seating. Like
- 27:42Speaker 9: if you in terms of the tank, like if you
- 27:46Speaker 9: beat the Chiefs and have a really good field goal,
- 27:48Speaker 9: feel good game at the end of the year, I'm
- 27:50Speaker 9: not going to lose much sleepover because that's a fun win.
- 27:52Speaker 9: That's a cool win. It's like right, like the Buffalo game.
- 27:55Speaker 9: But these games against the Giants and stuff like that,
- 27:58Speaker 9: like start Maleie Cunningham, I don't care, Like Tank.
- 28:02Speaker 1: What's gonna happen if last game it's the Jets and
- 28:06Speaker 1: it's Aaron Rodgers, Yeah.
- 28:08Speaker 7: Maybe, and maybe they need to get into the playoffs.
- 28:10Speaker 5: I just think that the Jets, I don't. I don't
- 28:15Speaker 5: think we're going to see Aaron Rodgers play because I
- 28:16Speaker 5: don't think they're going to be in it. And that's
- 28:18Speaker 5: gonna take that. I've been thinking about that, and that's
- 28:21Speaker 5: gonna make that win because I think, you know what's
- 28:24Speaker 5: funny is Zach Wilson's Uh. I don't know if you
- 28:28Speaker 5: guys have watched any of the games, like they played
- 28:30Speaker 5: on Sunday night the previous week, they played on Monday night,
- 28:32Speaker 5: the Sunday night game. I don't think he played terrible.
- 28:35Speaker 5: You know, he threw a terrible pick that costs him
- 28:37Speaker 5: the game. You know, Other than that, I guess I
- 28:43Speaker 5: get right right. But unlike Mac, who I think played
- 28:47Speaker 5: terrible for four quarters, and I know that other people
- 28:49Speaker 5: think that he didn't like I think he made zero
- 28:52Speaker 5: plays in the game, and then he topped it off
- 28:54Speaker 5: with what should have been back to back picks in
- 28:57Speaker 5: the red zone. I think Zach Wilson like they got
- 29:02Speaker 5: I mean through for like two hundred and fifty yards.
- 29:03Speaker 5: They were kind of moving the ball. They were similarly
- 29:06Speaker 5: all for the O for life in the red zone.
- 29:08Speaker 5: They were getting touchdowns called back, two of them called back,
- 29:12Speaker 5: and I just think they they weren't that far away.
- 29:19Speaker 5: But I just I think now that these are the
- 29:22Speaker 5: games they were spoke they had to win, like they
- 29:24Speaker 5: had they had to.
- 29:24Speaker 7: Beat those are running out quick.
- 29:26Speaker 5: I mean they had beat you know, I meant the Jets.
- 29:28Speaker 5: They had a beat of Raiders. I think they're gonna
- 29:30Speaker 5: they're gonna be playing Miami. I think, you know, Buffalo
- 29:33Speaker 5: at some point is gonna have to rebound. I think
- 29:36Speaker 5: they're gonna be I think Buffalo is gonna miss the playoffs.
- 29:38Speaker 7: What is Buffalo's problem?
- 29:39Speaker 5: Is it really the offensive coordinator over five?
- 29:42Speaker 9: Yeah, they're just a is really really vanilla. It's like
- 29:46Speaker 9: almost like the Patriots offense last year, but like they
- 29:49Speaker 9: just have Josh Allen playing quarterbacks. So every once in
- 29:51Speaker 9: a while, Josh Allen and Stefan Diggs just are Josh
- 29:54Speaker 9: Allen and Stefan Diggs. But if that's not there, then
- 29:58Speaker 9: it's turnovers. It's inefficial an offense.
- 30:00Speaker 10: It's all table back next year for the Giants, for
- 30:04Speaker 10: the Bills, Bills.
- 30:05Speaker 5: For the Bills, I would know I take him back
- 30:08Speaker 5: as they had all right, but yeah, they they had
- 30:14Speaker 5: in addition that had four turnovers, plus they turned it
- 30:16Speaker 5: over on downs in their own territory, so that's five
- 30:18Speaker 5: turnovers and they were winning. Yeah, and if they didn't.
- 30:23Speaker 9: Have twelve guys on the field on the last back
- 30:24Speaker 9: game on that game, that was so funny. I'm sorry,
- 30:28Speaker 9: Like I know we're not like glasshouses right now, but
- 30:31Speaker 9: that was absolutely.
- 30:32Speaker 5: And I was I was so I was so happy,
- 30:34Speaker 5: Like I know we're not supposed to like route blah
- 30:38Speaker 5: blah blah whatever. I was so happy because Buffalo so
- 30:41Speaker 5: badly did not deserve to win that game, and just
- 30:44Speaker 5: because of what Evan said at some point, like Josh
- 30:47Speaker 5: Allen just made four or five plays, James Cook, despite
- 30:50Speaker 5: fumbling three times, made did.
- 30:54Speaker 9: He fumbled and then bounced on the ground and he
- 30:56Speaker 9: picked it up running.
- 30:59Speaker 5: I found, Yeah, he picked it up. He got like
- 31:01Speaker 5: twenty yards. A guy stripped him. It took a bounce, bump,
- 31:04Speaker 5: hit him in stride and I think he accelerated, yes,
- 31:06Speaker 5: after he recovered, like he drippled. I've never seen anything like.
- 31:10Speaker 5: It was an amazing game to watch. Not particularly well played.
- 31:13Speaker 5: Do you guys think in terms of well played, there's
- 31:16Speaker 5: something about the europe Games, the European games.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Like they were a little less played.
- 31:20Speaker 5: They ever seemed to be crisp.
- 31:23Speaker 7: I don't think I could play a crisp anything.
- 31:25Speaker 10: After like feeling what it was like to get over
- 31:27Speaker 10: there and just to get re established with sleeping and
- 31:30Speaker 10: like hard.
- 31:31Speaker 1: You know, the game itself wasn't crisp, but when the
- 31:34Speaker 1: Patriots played in London, I think they were crisp.
- 31:37Speaker 5: I think they thought it was terrible football.
- 31:39Speaker 1: They destroyed the Rams.
- 31:40Speaker 7: Don't really remember the Rams.
- 31:41Speaker 9: Were terrible maybe just I mean, but I don't.
- 31:43Speaker 5: I don't even think that. Like the first touchdown of
- 31:45Speaker 5: that game, just as a point of comparison, was a
- 31:46Speaker 5: bomb by the Rams for a touchdown. That kind of
- 31:49Speaker 5: stuff never happened to the Patriots. Yeah, not then, let
- 31:53Speaker 5: me reiterate, that was like twenty twelve. I don't know
- 31:55Speaker 5: that stuff didn't always happen to the Patriots.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Yeah, no, they were there. They always seem a little
- 32:00Speaker 1: out of sorts, you know.
- 32:02Speaker 9: I mean I was a little out of sorts.
- 32:03Speaker 5: Like the Chiefs and Dolphins are two really good teams,
- 32:06Speaker 5: and I don't think they played great football. Now, it
- 32:08Speaker 5: was a close game twenty one to fourteen, but I
- 32:11Speaker 5: don't think it was a really well played game if
- 32:13Speaker 5: you watched it.
- 32:14Speaker 9: If you especially if you're you're trying to market the
- 32:17Speaker 9: product to these people and they're just so happy, that's yeah,
- 32:20Speaker 9: And that was you know, I wrote something on Saturday
- 32:23Speaker 9: night before the game, like if they win this game.
- 32:26Speaker 9: That was kind of my biggest takeaway of being there
- 32:28Speaker 9: was sometimes it's okay to just be a fan and
- 32:31Speaker 9: like here, I feel like we're a we're in it,
- 32:34Speaker 9: like we're really in it, but be like the doom
- 32:36Speaker 9: and gloom has just sunk into this region so much
- 32:39Speaker 9: because of the state of the team. Those people were
- 32:42Speaker 9: just happy to be there, and that's there's something to
- 32:44Speaker 9: be said for that that it's sports. It's not this big,
- 32:48Speaker 9: you know, life or death type of thing, and sometimes
- 32:51Speaker 9: it's okay to just be excited to watch your team
- 32:53Speaker 9: play and then the game happened.
- 32:55Speaker 1: You know. Somebody was saying, though, you know, we look
- 32:57Speaker 1: at it as you know, ten six, but for soccer fans,
- 33:01Speaker 1: that's two scores for each team, which is like a
- 33:03Speaker 1: lot of scoring in a game. Yeah.
- 33:05Speaker 5: I was also looking at it as uh, let's say
- 33:09Speaker 5: nine punts they liked when the ball gets kicked.
- 33:12Speaker 7: Yeah, there you go, give them what they want.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Miss miss field goal by the rookie. Yeah, the page.
- 33:18Speaker 5: Close to well, actually, if they had had the things extended,
- 33:20Speaker 5: don't get me started.
- 33:24Speaker 1: We thought you thought that was a field goal.
- 33:26Speaker 5: Well some did, really they did one one.
- 33:29Speaker 9: Did one particular coach did on the sideline, and can
- 33:32Speaker 9: I just like quickly on the special teams? Why are
- 33:36Speaker 9: either of those two guys still here? Okay, like this
- 33:39Speaker 9: is unbelievably ridiculous. They spend so much time, They spend
- 33:44Speaker 9: so much time that they got penalized for how much
- 33:47Speaker 9: time they spend on special teams. Literally, they they literally
- 33:51Speaker 9: got OTAs.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Swift going back to the O t as when they
- 33:55Speaker 1: had because.
- 33:55Speaker 9: They spend too much time on special teams. They have
- 33:58Speaker 9: three dedicated special teams coaches, two who are coordinators are
- 34:02Speaker 9: former coordinators on special teams. They have they drafted two
- 34:07Speaker 9: specialists in the same draft. Nobody's done that in like
- 34:10Speaker 9: thirty years. And on top of that, they have they
- 34:13Speaker 9: have all have you does Chris Board play? I haven't
- 34:17Speaker 9: heard Chris Board's name a single time. O the remember
- 34:19Speaker 9: his name was gonna got called for that penalty. He
- 34:21Speaker 9: got called for a penalty. They have five players I
- 34:24Speaker 9: counted five players if you include Time Montgomery, who I
- 34:27Speaker 9: do because he played one offensive seal teams only that
- 34:31Speaker 9: are special teams only players. And they have the worst
- 34:34Speaker 9: special teams in the NFL, Like, if that doesn't tell
- 34:37Speaker 9: you something about where this team is at right now,
- 34:40Speaker 9: I don't know. The special teams were abhorrent, Like they
- 34:43Speaker 9: were horrible. They missed two field goals, they allowed a
- 34:46Speaker 9: forty one yard kickoff return, they tried to block punt
- 34:49Speaker 9: and I talked to some of the guys after the
- 34:50Speaker 9: game and they were just like, yeah, like we thought
- 34:53Speaker 9: they were gonna do one thing. They just kind of
- 34:54Speaker 9: checked the line of scrimmage to another blocking scheme and
- 34:57Speaker 9: they picked it up. And it's like that, like that's
- 35:00Speaker 9: what you got that that's the best you can do
- 35:03Speaker 9: is you don't have a returner deep you think you
- 35:06Speaker 9: have this wrinkle. They make one simple check at the
- 35:08Speaker 9: line of scrimmage and it's like nothing ever happened, What happened?
- 35:12Speaker 7: How does it get happen?
- 35:13Speaker 9: It was a sixty nine yard punt, right, It completely
- 35:16Speaker 9: flipped the field position, right, and it just you can't
- 35:20Speaker 9: tell me that that they that these coordinators should be
- 35:24Speaker 9: here still and you talk about like, you know, the
- 35:28Speaker 9: Jets or excuse me, the Bills with Ken Dorsey.
- 35:32Speaker 5: So that's what Fred Will made a change, And at
- 35:34Speaker 5: the time I wanted to get into this rant. I
- 35:37Speaker 5: kind of did this a little in the post game,
- 35:39Speaker 5: but then I'm like, you know what, Patriots on filtered
- 35:41Speaker 5: do we have to but like that to me, if
- 35:43Speaker 5: you want to come out of a game and make
- 35:45Speaker 5: a statement, just do something. And I don't care if
- 35:48Speaker 5: it's wrong, Just do something. Like Joe Judd's gotta go,
- 35:50Speaker 5: but he's list.
- 35:51Speaker 1: We're in a bye week. It's not to say something
- 35:54Speaker 1: won't happen in the next two weeks.
- 35:56Speaker 5: I just like, for all the things they Evan said,
- 35:58Speaker 5: and I really got annoyed by the punt by some
- 36:01Speaker 5: people really defending the decision on the punt and build
- 36:04Speaker 5: kind of like we did that last year against them.
- 36:07Speaker 5: We saw something and now you know we blocked punt.
- 36:09Speaker 5: You know, Okay, Like, first of all, I'm gonna trust
- 36:13Speaker 5: that you're not lying to me, which I've checked in
- 36:15Speaker 5: the past, and I found out that you were in
- 36:17Speaker 5: fact lying to me. You did not recount the situations
- 36:20Speaker 5: the same, But I'm gonna trust that that's accurate. I
- 36:22Speaker 5: didn't go back and look like so they're on their
- 36:26Speaker 5: own thirteen yard line with twelve minutes left in the
- 36:29Speaker 5: second quarter, and this is the time that you deemed
- 36:31Speaker 5: to set you know, and if it if it doesn't
- 36:33Speaker 5: work that way, then you just you drop back and
- 36:34Speaker 5: you set up a return. Why don't we got to
- 36:37Speaker 5: set up a return, Like, let's just assume it's like
- 36:39Speaker 5: a forty five yard net on the punt average run
- 36:42Speaker 5: of the mill net.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Right, You're gonna have good, right, decent field.
- 36:45Speaker 5: I'm gonna get the ball at my own forty right, Yeah,
- 36:47Speaker 5: what's wrong with that?
- 36:48Speaker 1: Right?
- 36:49Speaker 5: Like we're gonna take the risk of.
- 36:51Speaker 10: We really need to score our special teams, Like we
- 36:53Speaker 10: really this is the only way we're getting the end
- 36:55Speaker 10: zone today is if we send the house.
- 36:56Speaker 5: Plus the pla you knew that you weren't going to
- 36:58Speaker 5: get in a shootout, and plus they were playing their backup.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Course, we're in a stadium where the punters saying, yeah,
- 37:03Speaker 1: you kind of can't go for the hang time because
- 37:06Speaker 1: of the scoreboard there. So you knew it's going to
- 37:08Speaker 1: be a kick that was going to roll anyway, just because.
- 37:11Speaker 5: That's a good one I think of that.
- 37:13Speaker 9: Yeah, but they were so not close to it that
- 37:16Speaker 9: he's he got all of it right. Like usually when
- 37:18Speaker 9: you send a.
- 37:19Speaker 5: Punch and that's all you had a good punt.
- 37:21Speaker 9: Yeah, oh, because you were closed.
- 37:22Speaker 1: But it wasn't a high punt.
- 37:24Speaker 9: But when you send a punt block like that, you
- 37:27Speaker 9: at least think you're going to alter the punt, like
- 37:29Speaker 9: the guy's going to have to just get it out
- 37:31Speaker 9: of there right right, And that didn't even happen. And
- 37:34Speaker 9: I guess what they thought was going to happen was
- 37:36Speaker 9: the thought that the Colts typically block man blocking right,
- 37:40Speaker 9: just hat on a hat man blocking on the punt,
- 37:42Speaker 9: and they expected them to bring one of the gunners
- 37:45Speaker 9: into even the numbers and the man and then they
- 37:46Speaker 9: were going to overload a side. And I guess apparently
- 37:49Speaker 9: the Colts just checked to a zone blocking scheme and
- 37:51Speaker 9: it just didn't It just wasn't set up. Yeah, And
- 37:55Speaker 9: it was all fine. And I just if that that's
- 37:58Speaker 9: your ace in the hole, is to try to block
- 38:00Speaker 9: a punt.
- 38:00Speaker 1: They've come a long way from the chuck bgano am.
- 38:04Speaker 5: No, And I gotta be honest with your friend. And
- 38:07Speaker 5: someone said that on the radio side. I think there's
- 38:09Speaker 5: not a lot different between those two things. I thought
- 38:11Speaker 5: that was a ridiculous time to try to do that.
- 38:14Speaker 10: You know, you know, it would be perfect as if
- 38:15Speaker 10: they fired cam a Court and promoted Joe Judge now
- 38:18Speaker 10: from offensive assistant to specialty.
- 38:20Speaker 5: But we know he's the special to Evan's point, like
- 38:29Speaker 5: the field goal, the field goal wasn't good. Okay, first
- 38:31Speaker 5: of all, it was on the outside. It was over
- 38:36Speaker 5: the top, but it was on the outside. And to
- 38:40Speaker 5: be like, I don't know what you are so angry about,
- 38:43Speaker 5: Like why is it like that every one of these
- 38:45Speaker 5: games has to has to devolve into we got screwed?
- 38:50Speaker 5: Like after the game, it's we got screwed? Every week?
- 38:53Speaker 7: Who is the coach?
- 38:55Speaker 9: What we're talking about?
- 38:57Speaker 5: And he storms around like I don't know it.
- 39:02Speaker 9: Just two years in a row, last year, last year's
- 39:06Speaker 9: it's him with the quarterbacks. And he's definitely part of
- 39:10Speaker 9: the problem there. And they did the right thing with
- 39:13Speaker 9: Patricia and they said, look, let's just get you out
- 39:16Speaker 9: of the building, like this just isn't gonna work. He
- 39:18Speaker 9: gets to stay. Now he's courting the special teams and
- 39:21Speaker 9: his Special Teams unit is a disaster, despite the fact
- 39:24Speaker 9: that they pay all these guys to come in and
- 39:25Speaker 9: play special teams and they keep all the you know,
- 39:27Speaker 9: Brandon Schoolers of the world and stuff like that on
- 39:29Speaker 9: the roster. You can't tell me that they don't have
- 39:31Speaker 9: good special teams players.
- 39:32Speaker 5: And I keep saying this. Everybody points to the specialists,
- 39:36Speaker 5: and I don't really look at I don't blame the
- 39:38Speaker 5: coaching on the specialists. Much like I never gave credit
- 39:42Speaker 5: for Nick Folk never missing a field goal. I never
- 39:44Speaker 5: gave that credit to the Patriots, even though they were
- 39:47Speaker 5: glad to take it. Okay, I don't blame Chad Ryland's
- 39:52Speaker 5: operation missing. Yeah, they do. Fred, You're right, they do
- 39:55Speaker 5: take credit for it. But to me, that's different. I
- 39:57Speaker 5: don't blame the fact that Berenger again had two touchbacks
- 40:00Speaker 5: out of four punts or five punts wherever he had,
- 40:03Speaker 5: and he remains in the bottom third of punting. I
- 40:06Speaker 5: don't blame that on the coaching.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Although that one that was a bomb seventy year in
- 40:10Speaker 1: the air, he had like a seventy nine yard or
- 40:12Speaker 1: something like that. Yeah, but.
- 40:16Speaker 5: The return, they continue to kick the ball short because
- 40:19Speaker 5: they're smarter than everybody, and they continue to allow the
- 40:21Speaker 5: guy to get beyond the twenty five this one coming
- 40:23Speaker 5: off of your field goal to get within one, allow
- 40:26Speaker 5: them to get to midfield on a forty something yard return.
- 40:29Speaker 9: Well, at least the guy in Time Montgomery, one of
- 40:31Speaker 9: their special teams only guys made the tackle.
- 40:33Speaker 5: Yeah, they saved a touchdown.
- 40:34Speaker 9: He did ernest keep kay, I thought McKenzie was gone.
- 40:37Speaker 5: Now the other way, you know when they do it
- 40:40Speaker 5: the other way in Time Montgomery, and he does this
- 40:43Speaker 5: now virtually once a game. Early in the game, he
- 40:46Speaker 5: tries to take one out and he doesn't even get
- 40:48Speaker 5: to the twenty let alone the twenty five. That's the stuff.
- 40:52Speaker 5: Coupled with the litany of penalties they've had on special
- 40:55Speaker 5: teams all year, that's the stuff that I'm putting on
- 40:58Speaker 5: the special teams coaches, you know that that kind of thing.
- 41:01Speaker 5: So you had one play where you dialed up a
- 41:03Speaker 5: block field goal that was tremendous, And how many of
- 41:06Speaker 5: you are on the other side, all of them, you know,
- 41:09Speaker 5: every other one is on the other side. They haven't
- 41:11Speaker 5: made any impactful play since Week two on special teams positively.
- 41:16Speaker 9: And this is, you know, two weeks in a row.
- 41:18Speaker 9: Now that last week against the Commanders, they completely imploded
- 41:21Speaker 9: on special teams, like.
- 41:22Speaker 5: I mean, it largely cost them the game.
- 41:24Speaker 9: Yeah, and then this week you could make an argument
- 41:26Speaker 9: in a ten six game that these little things absolutely
- 41:29Speaker 9: cost you the game then too. I mean, you make
- 41:31Speaker 9: two field goals, it's twelve to ten and you win
- 41:33Speaker 9: the game. It just I don't know, how what more
- 41:36Speaker 9: evidence you need with those two coaches. I don't all.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Right, well, listen, that was Germany. Now we haven't even
- 41:43Speaker 1: talked about Jack Jones. Yeah, well, yeah, I think we
- 41:46Speaker 1: should talk to I do want to get our listeners involved,
- 41:48Speaker 1: but we should mention. As you said, Jack Jones released,
- 41:51Speaker 1: and Bill's answer was just it was just time, yeah,
- 41:54Speaker 1: to move on. And we all know that this was,
- 41:58Speaker 1: you know, had something to do with a field that
- 42:00Speaker 1: had nothing to do with performance.
- 42:02Speaker 5: Had plenty to do with performance. That was, to me,
- 42:04Speaker 5: the final straw in the last three games in the field,
- 42:07Speaker 5: if you're not going to play well, correct, right, correct? Right,
- 42:10Speaker 5: So he's gone, he's gone.
- 42:12Speaker 7: Fourth round.
- 42:13Speaker 5: Penn coming back like someone someone asked him if he.
- 42:19Speaker 1: No, Yeah, yeah, that was the definitive question.
- 42:23Speaker 9: That's probably the most honest answer he's given in weeks.
- 42:26Speaker 6: Right.
- 42:26Speaker 5: I liked that answer.
- 42:27Speaker 7: I'm not surprised at all. I mean, I don't think anything.
- 42:30Speaker 5: I'm just surprised it took this long, and you guys
- 42:32Speaker 5: know how I felt in June. I would have done
- 42:34Speaker 5: it then, but.
- 42:34Speaker 10: It's like, you know, and Paul, you've been all over this,
- 42:36Speaker 10: like why why are you taking chances on this guy?
- 42:38Speaker 7: Anyway?
- 42:39Speaker 5: Like you know, continue to rely on unreliable players and
- 42:43Speaker 5: this is how you get to two and eight.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Yeah, so okay, So Jack Jones is gone, and like
- 42:50Speaker 1: I said, this is the buye. There's no telling what's
- 42:52Speaker 1: going to happen between now and you know, a week
- 42:55Speaker 1: from next Sunday. There could there could be, there could be.
- 42:59Speaker 10: We're gonna see that we're going I might know something now,
- 43:00Speaker 10: we're gonna have a locker room open this afternoon. I
- 43:03Speaker 10: don't anticipate will glean anything from that particular situation, but
- 43:07Speaker 10: I just he said, everything's on the table. I'm just curious,
- 43:10Speaker 10: like I, you know, knowing how they are, I feel
- 43:12Speaker 10: like they're gonna come back with some significant changes.
- 43:14Speaker 7: And Jack Jones was clearly quarterback.
- 43:18Speaker 9: Bailey's happy.
- 43:19Speaker 1: What about Will Greer?
- 43:21Speaker 9: I mean, I just I wouldn't be surprised if Mac
- 43:23Speaker 9: is completely inactive for the game.
- 43:24Speaker 5: I was thinking Mac would be the third third.
- 43:27Speaker 1: He did go to the X ray room after the game. Yeah,
- 43:30Speaker 1: Bruce but I'm just saying that where that's the setup
- 43:33Speaker 1: for right, Yeah, I.
- 43:34Speaker 5: Can't say that put him on I R yeah.
- 43:38Speaker 7: Show, I mean, yeah, I think Zappy.
- 43:41Speaker 10: I just I think everybody's kind of infatuated with Will
- 43:43Speaker 10: Greer because he's an unknown commodity and you haven't seen
- 43:46Speaker 10: him go out and do the things you've seen like
- 43:47Speaker 10: Bailey's Appy do for better or worse, and it's like, well,
- 43:50Speaker 10: maybe he's amazing.
- 43:51Speaker 7: If you just give him a chance. Let's see Will
- 43:52Speaker 7: gear I think it's probably SAP.
- 43:53Speaker 5: I was so starved for any kind of offensive production
- 43:56Speaker 5: that I actually I said to do he threw the
- 43:59Speaker 5: one to Henry five. That's how starved I was for anything.
- 44:08Speaker 5: Oh yes, you could hear it.
- 44:09Speaker 1: I mean, but it wasn't until he was in.
- 44:11Speaker 9: Yeah. Yeah, at that point they were just trying to
- 44:13Speaker 9: support them.
- 44:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 44:15Speaker 10: But that's why I'm kind of glad, Like the Giants
- 44:17Speaker 10: game is at the Giants, so you can just kind
- 44:19Speaker 10: of not have to worry about the Patriots.
- 44:20Speaker 9: I just don't like So Tommy DeVito is going to
- 44:22Speaker 9: start for the Giants, I'm assuming, and it's like, how
- 44:26Speaker 9: you it might be really hard to lose to Tommy DeVito.
- 44:29Speaker 5: I can't see them losing. I know I've picked them
- 44:32Speaker 5: the last two weeks and I've been wrong the last
- 44:33Speaker 5: two weeks. But but what it looks like zappy like,
- 44:35Speaker 5: I mean, that's I cannot look worse than it was.
- 44:40Speaker 1: One question I have is, what is you know, the
- 44:44Speaker 1: mood in the locker room at the Giants compared to
- 44:46Speaker 1: the Patriots, because like we're hearing some things, it's not
- 44:51Speaker 1: good right now here. I don't like, are they still
- 44:53Speaker 1: playing for Dable in the other In another word, it's
- 44:57Speaker 1: a good question.
- 44:57Speaker 5: That's probably a deep dive over the next couple of weeks.
- 44:59Speaker 10: Are they're playing this week? The Giants that they have
- 45:01Speaker 10: a game this week? As anybody know off the top
- 45:03Speaker 10: of their their skulls now, I do not. Yeah, I
- 45:06Speaker 10: don't know if Giants.
- 45:08Speaker 5: It's just such an commands Oh boy.
- 45:10Speaker 10: It's just such a different dynamic though, when you have
- 45:12Speaker 10: a backup quarterback and the Patriots are rolling out a
- 45:14Speaker 10: first round pick who you know is supposed to be
- 45:16Speaker 10: the guy. I mean that I think to me, that's
- 45:19Speaker 10: a major impact on what the move is when it
- 45:21Speaker 10: teams like, look, we got our backup quarterback, like we
- 45:23Speaker 10: don't have to take.
- 45:24Speaker 5: It too tire. We're playing in this game.
- 45:26Speaker 7: That's good.
- 45:26Speaker 5: I don't think that they would be to Giants Stavn's point,
- 45:28Speaker 5: but I think Tommy DeVito. They tried to play an
- 45:31Speaker 5: NFL game the other day without really throwing passes, kind
- 45:34Speaker 5: of indoors. You know, I don't think you can do that.
- 45:38Speaker 1: What I mean, the Patriots made history. I mean they
- 45:40Speaker 1: managed to take a six round quarterback and he turned
- 45:42Speaker 1: into the greatest of all time. And they took a
- 45:44Speaker 1: first round quarterback and he should have been in the
- 45:46Speaker 1: sixth round.
- 45:47Speaker 5: So you know, you have a lot of tone today.
- 45:49Speaker 5: I like it.
- 45:50Speaker 9: Well, I think we're all like it.
- 45:51Speaker 1: A little tired, a little angry. This morning was testy.
- 45:56Speaker 5: Today was the first day I woke up and I
- 45:58Speaker 5: felt normal.
- 45:59Speaker 1: Yeah, me too, Yeah, I have to wit. I slept
- 46:01Speaker 1: well last night. I got in a little after nine o'clock.
- 46:04Speaker 7: I'm still getting them.
- 46:05Speaker 5: You got home nine o'clock last night. Yeah, Oh you
- 46:07Speaker 5: sound great for that. I thought you were home earlier
- 46:09Speaker 5: than that.
- 46:10Speaker 1: But yeah, that's fine, nine o'clock. Got a good night's sleep.
- 46:14Speaker 9: Yeah, I purposely stayed up on the plane on the
- 46:17Speaker 9: way back on Sunday.
- 46:18Speaker 5: So I three movies.
- 46:19Speaker 9: Yeah, I watched three movies too, and I was sitting
- 46:22Speaker 9: with two people. I don't know if they want me
- 46:24Speaker 9: to say their names over there, but we were like,
- 46:26Speaker 9: let's watch movies together. Well, then we'll we'll talk about
- 46:28Speaker 9: We're all stay awake, the two of them, like an
- 46:31Speaker 9: hour into the flight and I'm just like, nope, I'm
- 46:33Speaker 9: staying up like I'm doing. It.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Sounds like you guys had a pajama party.
- 46:37Speaker 9: It was pretty That was the Bradley couldn't no, it
- 46:41Speaker 9: wasn't Bradley, but he was jealous that it wasn't Bradley.
- 46:45Speaker 9: He was like, you guys are all sitting together except me.
- 46:49Speaker 5: We had a good uh yeah, we had a good trip.
- 46:51Speaker 5: It's a good trip. Yeah, good experience.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Let's go to the phones. Eight five five pass five
- 46:55Speaker 1: hundred is the ACE ticket houtline web radio at pages
- 46:58Speaker 1: dot com as the email address US. Both phones and
- 47:02Speaker 1: email is lit up. Let's go to Christian in LA.
- 47:04Speaker 1: What's up Christian?
- 47:06Speaker 3: Hey, you guys tell you just today? Okay, welcome back
- 47:09Speaker 3: from Germany and that thing. So three quick comments and
- 47:15Speaker 3: here we go on Bill Belichick, I think nine times
- 47:19Speaker 3: out of ten when the coaches on the verge of
- 47:21Speaker 3: getting fired or the thing is collapsing, it's because that
- 47:26Speaker 3: coach has attached himself, whether of his own or someone else's,
- 47:29Speaker 3: to a quarterback who can't play. Quarterbacks are coach killers.
- 47:33Speaker 9: Ye, that's number one.
- 47:35Speaker 3: Two runs Mac Jones. Apparently we got the run of
- 47:40Speaker 3: the litter of the Alabama quarterbacks of late. I think
- 47:43Speaker 3: it's time. Obviously from the go we're not going to
- 47:45Speaker 3: exercise his fifty year option, but I do think we
- 47:48Speaker 3: owe him a soft landing. I think to apologize for
- 47:52Speaker 3: sort of the mismanagement of his early development. I think
- 47:55Speaker 3: that was on us, So we owe him a soft landing.
- 47:58Speaker 3: But I think it's time to move on. Here's my
- 48:00Speaker 3: big idea. I think over his next two weeks, we
- 48:05Speaker 3: bring in Malik, let him put together some packages for him,
- 48:10Speaker 3: and at the same time start looking at Dallas to
- 48:12Speaker 3: trade for Trey Lance. Matt Jones would be a great
- 48:15Speaker 3: replacement for Dak. They sort of play a stimul style
- 48:18Speaker 3: of football, and that would be a great soft landing
- 48:20Speaker 3: for Max. We have the rest of this year for
- 48:22Speaker 3: Bill to develop the offense around, you know, the elite
- 48:25Speaker 3: type quarterback, and then we have Trey Lance developing the
- 48:28Speaker 3: rest of this year and all in the offseason. He's
- 48:31Speaker 3: got the tools to be one of these new age quarterbacks.
- 48:34Speaker 3: That's my big idea.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Okay, all right, talk about it a little bit. That's Christian.
- 48:40Speaker 9: The only idea quarterback is is it Drake mayor Caleb Williams.
- 48:44Speaker 9: That's it.
- 48:46Speaker 1: If you can get somebody like Trey Lance or we
- 48:48Speaker 1: were talking about justin fields and you can get Marvin Harrison.
- 48:53Speaker 9: I know you're just like offering the other side of
- 48:55Speaker 9: the coin. But it's now, if you don't have the quarterback,
- 48:59Speaker 9: you don't have any Yeah, that simple.
- 49:01Speaker 5: But what if all right, hypothetical third pick and you
- 49:05Speaker 5: can't get them.
- 49:06Speaker 9: Exactly, that's the only reason, Like, that's the only way
- 49:08Speaker 9: I'm taking Marvin Harrison is like, but if you.
- 49:10Speaker 5: Can't get those two guys. I don't hate the idea
- 49:13Speaker 5: of Trey Lance. I don't really. I I'm just scratching
- 49:19Speaker 5: my head trying to figure out one similarity between Mac
- 49:21Speaker 5: Jones and Dak Prescott. Like, I don't really know of
- 49:23Speaker 5: one similarity. I was gonna let that there's nothing. There's
- 49:27Speaker 5: nothing physically similar about here. We go any of any
- 49:31Speaker 5: of them you can't do the cadence.
- 49:34Speaker 9: You keep laughing.
- 49:37Speaker 5: Mean, I'm not mean. I might be snarky, but I'm
- 49:43Speaker 5: not mean. You're mean. But seriously, what is the physical
- 49:48Speaker 5: similarity between Dak Prescott and Jones?
- 49:51Speaker 13: No?
- 49:51Speaker 7: No, no, And.
- 49:52Speaker 5: I'm just looking forward to playing these games for the
- 49:54Speaker 5: next six months. So, in other words, I don't really
- 49:56Speaker 5: understand why why Mac Jones would be valuable to Dallas
- 49:59Speaker 5: in this trade. The we obviously looked into Lance as
- 50:02Speaker 5: a reclamation kind of project.
- 50:04Speaker 9: You know, plays a similar style out to Dak Prescotte, right,
- 50:07Speaker 9: and if we can rehab him. Yeah, you know, Dax
- 50:10Speaker 9: had some injury problems. Maybe his career is not going
- 50:12Speaker 9: to be one of these twenty plus year careers that
- 50:15Speaker 9: some of the others have.
- 50:16Speaker 5: We have Trey Lance. I don't really see anything about
- 50:18Speaker 5: Mac Jones that's like, no, Trey Lance.
- 50:20Speaker 10: If he's shown any promise at Dallas since he's been there,
- 50:23Speaker 10: why would they want to get rid of him. The
- 50:24Speaker 10: only reason they want to give him to you is
- 50:25Speaker 10: if they got him in their building and they said
- 50:27Speaker 10: this kid can't play.
- 50:28Speaker 7: They've got a close look like, yeah, fine, take them.
- 50:31Speaker 5: But yeah, I do worry that even though they are
- 50:34Speaker 5: seemingly ticketed for the top five. Do you need to
- 50:37Speaker 5: be one or two to get one of those? Right guys?
- 50:40Speaker 9: You know, I I totally hear that. I just to me,
- 50:44Speaker 9: they they need a new starting quarterback in twenty twenty four.
- 50:48Speaker 9: However they get there, I guess we can deliberate over
- 50:51Speaker 9: the next week six months, which I'm sure.
- 50:53Speaker 5: And we had a guy, we had a guy call
- 50:55Speaker 5: in saying, like, you know, it's done, deal, you can't
- 50:57Speaker 5: get one of those to it. I was like, well, why,
- 50:59Speaker 5: like yeah, that they're in the top five now, and
- 51:02Speaker 5: like I just still I still think there's this notion
- 51:05Speaker 5: of people that think they will not finish with the
- 51:07Speaker 5: top five pick, because that's blasphemous around here, Like they're
- 51:10Speaker 5: two and eight. Everything is on the table. And I
- 51:13Speaker 5: gotta tell you, I watched a good portion of that
- 51:15Speaker 5: Atlanta Arizona game. Kyler Murray is going to win a
- 51:20Speaker 5: couple of games for them. That might be one less
- 51:23Speaker 5: team you have to worry about finishing.
- 51:25Speaker 9: Behind, and they might also just not take a quarterback
- 51:27Speaker 9: to take a quarterback.
- 51:27Speaker 5: No, no, I know that, but I don't think you
- 51:30Speaker 5: know if you had to ask me right now, who's
- 51:32Speaker 5: gonna win more games the rest of the way, Arizona
- 51:34Speaker 5: or Patriots. I wouldn't think twice of who I was
- 51:37Speaker 5: betting on.
- 51:37Speaker 9: Yeah, I understand the arguments of you know, and I've
- 51:41Speaker 9: been there the whole season. The next quarterback has to
- 51:44Speaker 9: have a better supporting cast than this. That's apparent, But
- 51:49Speaker 9: in my mind, like you have ninety million dollars in
- 51:52Speaker 9: cap space to work with in the veteran market, like
- 51:54Speaker 9: why not just sign t Higgins or you know, it's
- 51:57Speaker 9: trade for somebody that comes Brandon Iuk, wherever comes available,
- 52:01Speaker 9: and build it the supporting cast in the veteran market
- 52:05Speaker 9: and draft the quarterback like that, That to me.
- 52:07Speaker 7: Is just twenty one twenty one?
- 52:09Speaker 9: What do you say?
- 52:10Speaker 5: Like, so if Carolina gets the number one pick, that
- 52:15Speaker 5: would be Chicago, right, yep, So it's Chicago's one, and
- 52:19Speaker 5: let's say the Giants are two, Yeah, the Patriots are
- 52:22Speaker 5: three and Arizona's behind something like that, or if you know,
- 52:27Speaker 5: some other words, the Patriots can't get may or Williams.
- 52:31Speaker 5: I wonder if that opens the door for them to
- 52:33Speaker 5: maybe trade with somebody and then you get maybe Kyler
- 52:35Speaker 5: Murray in that trade, and you know, try to work
- 52:39Speaker 5: it that way. If Arizona just decides we're going to
- 52:41Speaker 5: just take the next quarterback, I think that's unlikely because
- 52:45Speaker 5: if you're not going to be able to get one
- 52:46Speaker 5: of those one of those top two. Now I'm with Evan,
- 52:49Speaker 5: I don't know which one they're going to fall in
- 52:52Speaker 5: love with, but I got to think one of those
- 52:53Speaker 5: two guys is good enough for you to take Williams
- 52:56Speaker 5: or May.
- 52:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 52:57Speaker 5: I mean, I can't believe that all of these guys
- 52:59Speaker 5: are wrong about these two guys.
- 53:00Speaker 9: I mean, there's gonna be a good argument to be
- 53:02Speaker 9: made that they could make a trade like that and
- 53:04Speaker 9: maybe acquire another top fifty pick this year, so now
- 53:09Speaker 9: they would have three top fifty picks. Or even if
- 53:12Speaker 9: like they trade with Chicago for example, and they get
- 53:15Speaker 9: both their picks or something like that, then that that
- 53:18Speaker 9: that would be a good trade probably, But I just
- 53:22Speaker 9: you can't. You can't keep spinning the dial at quarterback
- 53:25Speaker 9: like you have to have an answer at that spot.
- 53:27Speaker 1: Let's see Rashad's in Baltimore. Hey, yeah, line three, yep, Okay.
- 53:36Speaker 14: All right, I'm not I'm not gonna try to be
- 53:39Speaker 14: too long, but I know last week I called and said,
- 53:43Speaker 14: I don't want Zafy, but.
- 53:45Speaker 13: I think we gotta start Zafy.
- 53:47Speaker 14: If we want to chance that that.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Pick, we gotta.
- 53:51Speaker 14: We gotta, like, we gotta just like if we're going
- 53:53Speaker 14: to tank, we gotta fully tank. And that giant next
- 53:57Speaker 14: week that that definitely not like we have to lose
- 54:02Speaker 14: that game. We have to lose that game, like all
- 54:04Speaker 14: these games he could have won this year, that can't
- 54:08Speaker 14: be the one game that we're going to win. We
- 54:10Speaker 14: gotta lose it.
- 54:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I get the theory. I just don't
- 54:13Speaker 5: think it's realistic that they're gonna shot. They're gonna roll
- 54:16Speaker 5: over and not win on purpose. Now, who knows, maybe
- 54:19Speaker 5: they'll decide after the bye week. Well, we think mac
- 54:21Speaker 5: gives us the best chance because that that would be
- 54:23Speaker 5: kind of tanking if Macots tried it out there again,
- 54:26Speaker 5: that's kind of an indication that you're tanking.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Or or throwing making a human sacrifice.
- 54:31Speaker 7: Jesus uh.
- 54:33Speaker 1: I think for his own benefit, you don't start.
- 54:36Speaker 5: I mean, that's kind of and I wrote this this morning.
- 54:39Speaker 5: I in my note. It's it's as much about like
- 54:42Speaker 5: let him just take some time off, like give him something,
- 54:45Speaker 5: you know. I think Evan's point about the possibility of
- 54:48Speaker 5: him not being active in the game is valid. I
- 54:51Speaker 5: think that you might see Zappi and Career, you know,
- 54:55Speaker 5: both both actors.
- 54:56Speaker 1: Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall,
- 54:59Speaker 1: you know, the next two weeks in practices and in
- 55:03Speaker 1: the position rooms. Not particularly, I would just like to
- 55:07Speaker 1: know how they're coaching this week enough film, you know,
- 55:10Speaker 1: I think that, and I know that other people have
- 55:14Speaker 1: brought this up.
- 55:15Speaker 9: I think one of the bigger problems is that they
- 55:18Speaker 9: are coaching the same way. And I think that some
- 55:21Speaker 9: people would say, oh, well that what else would you
- 55:23Speaker 9: do besides? But what I mean by it is like
- 55:25Speaker 9: these players are it's hard to play here. Like these
- 55:29Speaker 9: players are going through these practices, they're staying late, They're
- 55:33Speaker 9: in these meetings for hours on end. They're getting showed
- 55:36Speaker 9: out in film sessions by the coaching staff because they're
- 55:39Speaker 9: brutally honest, like worse than us, and they're they're going
- 55:42Speaker 9: through all these things to be two and eight And
- 55:46Speaker 9: at this point, like that's why I you know, I
- 55:49Speaker 9: said last week that I wouldn't fire Bill midseason out
- 55:52Speaker 9: of respect to what he's accomplished here. And I still
- 55:55Speaker 9: largely feel that way, but at the same time it
- 56:01Speaker 9: now does set up as a nice time with the
- 56:03Speaker 9: bye week that if you're already gonna do it at
- 56:06Speaker 9: the end of the year, and I don't know, but
- 56:08Speaker 9: if you are already going to do it at the
- 56:09Speaker 9: end of the year, I do think it's maybe worth
- 56:12Speaker 9: seeing how they respond to Grod Mayo and just how
- 56:16Speaker 9: he takes over the room and how guys you know,
- 56:21Speaker 9: what's the rules under his regime and how do guys
- 56:23Speaker 9: feel about it and that sort of thing and get
- 56:27Speaker 9: the pulse of the locker room of is this better?
- 56:30Speaker 9: You know, is this easier? And I say easier, I
- 56:33Speaker 9: don't mean you work less hard, but just easier. But
- 56:36Speaker 9: the kind of like with the Raiders, like right now.
- 56:39Speaker 10: But kind of along the lines of what they did
- 56:40Speaker 10: to Bailey Zappi is a fair to Mayo, you know.
- 56:42Speaker 7: Like like the Zappi all right, go fix it.
- 56:44Speaker 10: It's a mess and you know it like is it
- 56:47Speaker 10: I'm not saying I don't think it is.
- 56:48Speaker 5: I just like the way you ever put it. Though,
- 56:50Speaker 5: I don't think they would be looking for him to
- 56:52Speaker 5: go fix it. I think they're looking to see how
- 56:54Speaker 5: they respond to him. You know, some of the players respond. Now,
- 56:56Speaker 5: Fred makes a good point too. There might not be
- 56:58Speaker 5: a lot of guys in there that you care or
- 56:59Speaker 5: how they respond to anybody, right, but there's just there
- 57:02Speaker 5: should be enough. I mean, all your guys that are
- 57:04Speaker 5: on rookie contracts are going to be here next year.
- 57:06Speaker 9: It's just a good it's a good opportunity to basically
- 57:09Speaker 9: have him audition for the job and to see how
- 57:13Speaker 9: it goes. I just this to me is like almost
- 57:17Speaker 9: worst in some ways. It's almost worse to to.
- 57:20Speaker 5: Bill because it's just like we we we know you're
- 57:24Speaker 5: just gonna keep losing like that, right exactly. It just
- 57:28Speaker 5: it makes you want.
- 57:30Speaker 1: Tim's and Caroline I hate Tim.
- 57:33Speaker 13: Hey, guys, how you're doing good?
- 57:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 57:36Speaker 13: So I kind of just looking at the Jets schedule
- 57:39Speaker 13: down the you know, for the rest of the season,
- 57:41Speaker 13: and looking at the Giants the rest of the season,
- 57:43Speaker 13: I actually think both those teams could end up with
- 57:45Speaker 13: a higher pick than the Patriots just based on strength
- 57:49Speaker 13: of schedule.
- 57:49Speaker 5: I think the Jets already have enough wins to not
- 57:51Speaker 5: finish behind the Patriots.
- 57:53Speaker 1: Yeah, just have what four wins?
- 57:54Speaker 13: They have four wins and if the Patriots them and
- 57:58Speaker 13: the Patriots.
- 58:01Speaker 5: Now, the Giants I think are going to finish with
- 58:02Speaker 5: the worst record than the Patriots. I think you're right
- 58:04Speaker 5: on that one. The Jets are gonna win one or
- 58:06Speaker 5: two more, just like you will, and then they'll be
- 58:09Speaker 5: ahead of you. I don't think you have to worry.
- 58:11Speaker 5: I don't. I don't worry. I don't worry as much
- 58:13Speaker 5: about the Jets. I worry about the Giants either way.
- 58:17Speaker 13: I don't think they're gonna have a top one or
- 58:19Speaker 13: two pick, and I actually think they're gonna miss out
- 58:21Speaker 13: on both of those quarterbacks. Just maybe I have this feeling,
- 58:25Speaker 13: and I don't see I mean, if Bill's in charge
- 58:29Speaker 13: at draft, at the draft, we're not trading up. We're
- 58:32Speaker 13: not We're not doing the Kyle Shanahan three first rounders
- 58:36Speaker 13: trade up. I just don't see that happening either.
- 58:39Speaker 5: Well, they also wouldn't have to do that. If they're
- 58:42Speaker 5: like three, you don't have to trade three three first
- 58:44Speaker 5: rounders to move to two. Like if you're twelve, you
- 58:47Speaker 5: have to trade three first rounds to move to two.
- 58:50Speaker 5: But that's that's a little different.
- 58:51Speaker 15: I do.
- 58:52Speaker 13: I don't even see them trading one.
- 58:54Speaker 1: I could if you love the quarterback you better.
- 58:56Speaker 5: I could, Yeah, I absolutely could. But you know, we'll
- 59:00Speaker 5: see I don't think, you know, I mean, we'll see
- 59:02Speaker 5: who's making the decisions too.
- 59:05Speaker 13: Do you guys watch the college games?
- 59:08Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 59:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm hi amara feeling.
- 59:14Speaker 13: I don't know if you guys watched Michael Pennix play
- 59:16Speaker 13: this weekend. But the wind was whipping there in Washington,
- 59:22Speaker 13: unbelievable arm in bad weather. Yea kid play. Yeah, I thought,
- 59:29Speaker 13: you know, he'd be a nice consolation prize if they
- 59:32Speaker 13: miss out on the first two.
- 59:33Speaker 5: You want to take him with like the third, third,
- 59:35Speaker 5: or fourth pick.
- 59:39Speaker 13: If you're looking at the draft board, I would look
- 59:41Speaker 13: at you know, who can you if you can trade
- 59:43Speaker 13: down and there aren't people that there aren't other teams
- 59:45Speaker 13: that are looking for a quarterback, Like maybe you can
- 59:49Speaker 13: trade down two or three spots and get an additional
- 59:52Speaker 13: pick in there and then pick up the quarterback.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, okay, thank him.
- 59:58Speaker 5: I'm not interested in my pix in the top ten.
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: Me neither, I'm not. I mean, if you want to say,
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: like you're gonna be picking with the third or fourth
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: pick of the second round and you want to maybe
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: move up into the bottom of the first round to
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: get someone like that, like Panix or JJ McCarthy even
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: like I don't really love him either, but that I
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: could be sold on. But I'm gonna maneuver around to
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: reach for a quarterback that I don't think a lot
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: of people think it's a top ten guy. Now, maybe
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: I'm dead wrong on that. He's a little older.
- 1:00:30Speaker 9: He's twenty four to two in the knee, lefty, but
- 1:00:35Speaker 9: he does have a good arm.
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: Killer though a lot of lefties don't have strong arms.
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: He does. He's right, the caller Tim is right about
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: why do you say that? I don't know, but it's
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: I'm just telling you. Michael Vick had a pretty strong
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: Michael Vick was another exception. He drew the ball as
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: well as anybody.
- 1:00:53Speaker 9: I just with Penix. I I'm still waiting to see
- 1:00:57Speaker 9: if Penix can like hit anything at the second first
- 1:01:01Speaker 9: level of the defense. Like every time I watch just
- 1:01:03Speaker 9: have really good receivers in college. Yeah, so his, uh,
- 1:01:08Speaker 9: I'm gonna butcher his name. He's going to be a
- 1:01:11Speaker 9: first round pick. Yeah, his his top receiver at Washington
- 1:01:14Speaker 9: is going to be a first round pick. I just
- 1:01:17Speaker 9: with Penis. He throws a pretty deep ball. And he
- 1:01:20Speaker 9: can move a little bit, and he can throw on
- 1:01:22Speaker 9: the run, he can do all that kind of stuff.
- 1:01:24Speaker 9: I like, yeah, yeah, I worry about like the instructure
- 1:01:27Speaker 9: stuff though, like is he going to be able to
- 1:01:30Speaker 9: read out the field and make those types of throws
- 1:01:32Speaker 9: from the pocket? And I worry about that with Caleb
- 1:01:34Speaker 9: Williams too. Also, have you guys done any research on that,
- 1:01:37Speaker 9: like this mocks that are already out, like where's Penis? Like,
- 1:01:41Speaker 9: am I way off on that? Penis can be a
- 1:01:43Speaker 9: first round pick?
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: That's but top but top five?
- 1:01:46Speaker 9: Top five?
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: He wants to go into the top five?
- 1:01:48Speaker 9: Well, I mean it depends all this stuff always depends
- 1:01:50Speaker 9: on the pre draft. I've been thinking of him as
- 1:01:52Speaker 9: the bottom half of the first round kind of no no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:01:55Speaker 9: top half of the first round.
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: I think, okay, all right, I mean just because he
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: plays quarterback, you got him. I'm not interested in him
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: that I mean.
- 1:02:02Speaker 9: I shouldn't say that, like you know, who knows, like
- 1:02:04Speaker 9: will Levis was supposed to be a first round pick
- 1:02:06Speaker 9: and he ended up falling to the first pick of
- 1:02:07Speaker 9: the second round, so you just you never know.
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: But but but that's see, I would say that's fine. Like,
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: is there a huge difference between like twenty six and
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: thirty three? No, like, but there's a huge difference between
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: four and thirty three.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Nah.
- 1:02:21Speaker 9: Yeah, I would look at Penix as a guy that's
- 1:02:23Speaker 9: like probably in like I don't know, like the the
- 1:02:27Speaker 9: eight to fifteen range, like he's he's a.
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: Deepone has him as number twenty one overall, Yeah.
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: That's where I that's my mind.
- 1:02:35Speaker 13: Now.
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: I don't want to be luck step with Blue Jerny,
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: but my mind that's where I right.
- 1:02:39Speaker 9: But if they have him twenty one overall and he
- 1:02:42Speaker 9: has a good pre draft and he's a quarterback, he's
- 1:02:45Speaker 9: gonna go ten picks higher than twenty one.
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: Yep So, and it's gonna be like the teams. Yeah,
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: it's gonna be the team exactly. I wouldn't have taken
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: it now, but they don't have to relegislate that.
- 1:02:55Speaker 9: I think this one, like not is like a little
- 1:02:57Speaker 9: bit more, you know, Zach wilsony where like he's gonna
- 1:03:01Speaker 9: like Penix is gonna look really good throwing the ball
- 1:03:04Speaker 9: at his pro day because he's got hell of an arm,
- 1:03:07Speaker 9: so it's gonna look good in shorts and a T
- 1:03:10Speaker 9: shirt no matter where he's at.
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: That's what people say about JJ McCarthy, But I don't
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: see that when I watch the Michigan play.
- 1:03:16Speaker 16: No.
- 1:03:16Speaker 9: JJ McCarthy I think has a little He's definitely more
- 1:03:19Speaker 9: tools than Mac. He can move around more than Mac.
- 1:03:22Speaker 9: But he worries me because it's it's similar where like
- 1:03:26Speaker 9: Michigan's just loaded. So like he's standing behind an offensive
- 1:03:29Speaker 9: line that never allows pressure. He's got an incredible run game,
- 1:03:32Speaker 9: incredible defense, Like he what does he really have to
- 1:03:35Speaker 9: do in a lot of these games?
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: What do you think of the comparison to Pennix Junior
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: to Tagabaloa.
- 1:03:41Speaker 9: Well, they're both lefties. I think that that's like kind
- 1:03:43Speaker 9: of where it ends for me. Yeah, you know, I
- 1:03:46Speaker 9: mean maybe like pre hip injury to a had had
- 1:03:49Speaker 9: an arm like Penix, But I think two is a
- 1:03:52Speaker 9: much much better anticipatory thrower, Like he's much better at
- 1:03:55Speaker 9: playing quarterback. And that's like my whole thing with this
- 1:03:58Speaker 9: draft is like when we start looking at the qbs,
- 1:04:01Speaker 9: who plays quarterback and who's just an athlete playing quarterback?
- 1:04:04Speaker 9: And I want the quarterback athlete.
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: The other thing I would say with those two is,
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: you know, Tua played a couple of years at Alabama.
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: Pennock has been in college football for like seven years,
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: six years, Like he should be at a level higher
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: at this point. Now he's playing against you know, kids
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: that he has three times as much experience as you
- 1:04:23Speaker 5: know what I mean, Like that's a big difference. I
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: think he spent three years at Indiana and three at
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: Washington or something like that.
- 1:04:29Speaker 9: I get why people draw the comparisons because they're both lefties,
- 1:04:33Speaker 9: but I think twas his straints are much different than Penix's.
- 1:04:36Speaker 9: Penix is a raw talent, whereas Tua has you know,
- 1:04:38Speaker 9: all those little and you.
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: Know, it's funny. Even though I think Tua has been successful,
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: I don't think he would have gone as high had
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: people not felt that he could be the dual threat.
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: Because I loved him at Alabama. I thought he was,
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: you know, another dual threat kind of guy who could
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: really throw. To Evan's point, with the anticipation and stuff
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: like that, that's what he's brought to the NFL. But
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: he doesn't really bring the running element at all. And
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: he's small, so he shouldn't be running around a ton
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: with all the injuries that he's had. But I'm not
- 1:05:08Speaker 5: sure you would have been the fifth pick if people
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: realized he wasn't don't think it's a thread guy.
- 1:05:12Speaker 9: He definitely doesn't go over Herbert if they'd realize that.
- 1:05:16Speaker 9: I the one guy that's really intriguing to me. I'm
- 1:05:18Speaker 9: not a big Penis guy. Bars a little bit higher
- 1:05:21Speaker 9: on Pennix than I am, I think, but Jaden Daniels.
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: From LSU's I love him.
- 1:05:25Speaker 9: That's the one guy that I really If you're not
- 1:05:28Speaker 9: going to get the Tier one guys, which is Caleb
- 1:05:30Speaker 9: and Drake May, Jaden Daniels, as you get him in
- 1:05:34Speaker 9: the bottom in the first round, maybe I think that
- 1:05:36Speaker 9: there's a possibility. And if you have like.
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: He's like six foot right six ' four, oh he's
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: oh yeah, if he is.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Who's the other Daniels for what?
- 1:05:46Speaker 7: Mark Daniels?
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: Mark, are you thinking of Jordan Travis from Florida State?
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: Because I get those two mixed up all the time,
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: and Travis is small. Jaden Daniels has got good.
- 1:05:55Speaker 9: I forget who they were playing, but there was a
- 1:05:57Speaker 9: conference game he had six hundred total yards of offense.
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: Yeah, that's been in college for a while. He should
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: be dominating. But yeah, I do like the skills yet there.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: All right, so at this time, we welcome Tamara Brown
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: to the show. No matter how you doing. How was
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: your Germany experience.
- 1:06:15Speaker 6: I'm definitely jet lagged, still recovering from the time difference,
- 1:06:19Speaker 6: but overall, I was blown away by Patriots Nation in Frankfurt.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:06:25Speaker 6: I kind of went into Germany with no expectation, so
- 1:06:28Speaker 6: I think that might have been it too, but just
- 1:06:30Speaker 6: to support throughout the week, just seeing there were so
- 1:06:34Speaker 6: many more Patriots fans there than Colts fans. Like all
- 1:06:37Speaker 6: week long, people were like, you have you seen any
- 1:06:39Speaker 6: Colts fans? I'm like, no, the only thing I've seen
- 1:06:41Speaker 6: Colts is the Colts cheerleaders. That was the only thing
- 1:06:43Speaker 6: that I saw downtown. Other than that, it was a
- 1:06:45Speaker 6: bunch of Patriots jerseys. Patriot fans were everywhere. They were
- 1:06:49Speaker 6: so welcoming, they were so excited. I don't know if
- 1:06:52Speaker 6: it was for PU specifically or you know, Patriots, it
- 1:06:55Speaker 6: was Patriots specifically, but just blown away. I mean, even
- 1:06:59Speaker 6: with the loss, I felt like Patriot's Nation there was incredible.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it was great, and you enjoyed yourself.
- 1:07:06Speaker 6: You did have really great food. I went back to
- 1:07:08Speaker 6: that restaurant that you took me to, like, I had
- 1:07:10Speaker 6: to go back there again. I think that was my
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: last meal in Germany. But I really enjoyed it. Ever,
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: I really enjoyed it. It was pretty cold there.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: Though, Yeah, it was chilly.
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: I was a little cold the last day, like everybody's
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: bundled looked like it was really cold day.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: It was the coldest day, okay, Monday. I was there
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: afterwards and it was pouring, so we were lucky to
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: not get any of that. You know.
- 1:07:32Speaker 9: The weather was exactly what I thought it would be.
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I was just watching watching the game. It looked
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: like it was colder than when Mike.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: And I my fingers, like because it's you're completely outdoors
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: and my fingers were working slow.
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: Is that why you had to take a break?
- 1:07:48Speaker 6: No?
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: I well, when it's cold out, you have to, you know,
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: go to the bathroom a little bit more.
- 1:07:52Speaker 9: Is that also?
- 1:07:54Speaker 6: There was nothing for him to be reporting on in
- 1:07:56Speaker 6: that game, I.
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: Know, but someone sent a screenshot of the be back
- 1:07:59Speaker 5: in five minutes.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: And the press there. They don't have their own bathroom.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: You have to go down the stairs and out to
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: the concourt, so you're in the same bathroom as all the.
- 1:08:08Speaker 5: Fans the steering room.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: Yeah, so that was different, but you sat in the stands. Yeah,
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: how was that experience?
- 1:08:19Speaker 9: Wild?
- 1:08:19Speaker 6: So the ushers the crazy thing. I have a video
- 1:08:22Speaker 6: the ushers like they pumped the fans up, so they're
- 1:08:25Speaker 6: they're ushering, you know, people to their seats, but they're
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: also pumping up the fans, like making them get loud
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: and stuff. I'm like, they don't do that here. Like,
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: it was incredible, Alex and I got a good video
- 1:08:34Speaker 6: of it. I'd never seen that before.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: But you like it when they sang Yeah.
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: Yeah, country Roads is a little bit weird considering like
- 1:08:42Speaker 6: the Cults and New England are not Country Roads.
- 1:08:45Speaker 9: They every game, Yeah, but it's just one of their songs.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: They love it.
- 1:08:48Speaker 6: It was interesting.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: It was the way they did it and they you know,
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: they all had their camera lights on and I got
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: a little choked ups.
- 1:08:56Speaker 10: You really when you say they always sing, what do
- 1:08:58Speaker 10: you mean like just fans general for this for the games?
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: And they did it last week for the Miami and
- 1:09:03Speaker 5: that was in.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Munich last year they did it. Yeah, they you know,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: because I was in the bar last year in Munich
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: and the you know. They we had a German DJ,
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: and he was playing like all classic rock from the
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: eighties and they love they love all that music.
- 1:09:17Speaker 9: That was what I was really surprised about was that
- 1:09:20Speaker 9: they didn't play like I was thinking that we were
- 1:09:23Speaker 9: gonna go sear some du none of that. It's just
- 1:09:30Speaker 9: but like no, like Gibson, like the Gipson. You know.
- 1:09:34Speaker 9: After the show we were there, it was like Rihanna,
- 1:09:38Speaker 9: like they were playing like American music and like every
- 1:09:41Speaker 9: once in a while they would mix in some like
- 1:09:43Speaker 9: German house song or something, and I had to ask,
- 1:09:45Speaker 9: like what they were saying, and it was not not
- 1:09:47Speaker 9: safe for our biggest.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Our biggest export is entertainment, movies, music. That's what we explained.
- 1:09:54Speaker 9: And all the like the German people that were there,
- 1:09:56Speaker 9: they all knew the words like they were they were
- 1:09:58Speaker 9: all into it, like that was the music they wanted
- 1:10:00Speaker 9: to hear.
- 1:10:00Speaker 10: There must just be a bunch of Germans that have
- 1:10:02Speaker 10: this like glowing impression of West Virginia.
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: Though, like, man, that must be the best over there.
- 1:10:05Speaker 9: West Virginia, hor do not recommend.
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: Unfortunately, I've spent time there. Yeah, I would put it
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: in the bottom bottom three of states.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: Let's go to Nik in Australia. What's up, Nick, Nick?
- 1:10:22Speaker 17: Yes, I just got a question for Evan and Mike.
- 1:10:27Speaker 17: My first of all, do you think Billy o'brown will
- 1:10:30Speaker 17: be back next year? And if so, do you want
- 1:10:31Speaker 17: him to return? And Evan, if we do end up
- 1:10:34Speaker 17: with the top peak, who would you take? Would you
- 1:10:36Speaker 17: take May or would you take Williams? You know that
- 1:10:39Speaker 17: obviously it's probably the consents, not one peak, but one
- 1:10:42Speaker 17: your opinion on it.
- 1:10:43Speaker 7: I'd just say I'd be open to Billy Oh coming back.
- 1:10:46Speaker 10: I mean, I don't think he's gotten you know, totally
- 1:10:47Speaker 10: fair shaken. I think he's you know, modern we talked
- 1:10:50Speaker 10: last year things that you know, modern teams are doing.
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: I think he's on that tip. I still like Billy Oh.
- 1:10:55Speaker 7: I haven't lost faith in him.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: But here's the thing. If let's say you have you know,
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: the first or second pick, and you can choose your quarterback,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Billy Oh is eventually going to leave for a head
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: coaching job, do you want to, like, you know, rather
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: that get a get a head coach who chooses his
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: offensive coordinator, but it's his offense, it's the head coach's offense.
- 1:11:18Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean we've had those conversations.
- 1:11:20Speaker 10: I mean, it's just it's something I think you got
- 1:11:21Speaker 10: to make peace with if if you're not going to
- 1:11:23Speaker 10: choose an offensive coordinator as your coach, I mean, unless
- 1:11:25Speaker 10: you want to just cut it down the middle and say, look,
- 1:11:27Speaker 10: we're only looking at offensive coaches and he's going.
- 1:11:29Speaker 7: To bring his own guy and that.
- 1:11:31Speaker 5: But I don't know if you if you want to
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: limit yourself that much.
- 1:11:33Speaker 7: I mean, it's just part of life.
- 1:11:34Speaker 10: I mean, even if you have, you know, a great
- 1:11:36Speaker 10: head coach and there's gonna be a coordinator that comes
- 1:11:39Speaker 10: in and I mean you're looking at it with Buffalo
- 1:11:40Speaker 10: a little bit right now, where they, you know, have
- 1:11:42Speaker 10: the defensive coach.
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: That's what happened. It's it's it's tough to navigate.
- 1:11:45Speaker 10: I just don't know if there's that perfect offensive mind
- 1:11:48Speaker 10: that you you're ready to hand.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: The keys to just yet, Thanks Nate, hold On, hold On, Yeah,
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: Heaven Drake. Drake Thomas writes in fun fact, Country Roads
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: was initially written about Western mass but they decided that
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: West Virginia sounded better than Massachusetts, so they changed a
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: bunch of words, and he cites Wikipedia.
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: Must be true.
- 1:12:09Speaker 10: Then Denver I was surprised it wasn't about Colorado because
- 1:12:15Speaker 10: John Denver is Colorado guy, right, like that was always
- 1:12:18Speaker 10: what he missed me up.
- 1:12:19Speaker 9: You know, it was nice, fun fact. I love a
- 1:12:23Speaker 9: good country sing along.
- 1:12:25Speaker 6: I hear that all the time in Blacksburg, Virginia, but
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: not in Frankfurt, Germany. I wasn't expecting that.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: Yeah, Uh, Eldred in North Carolina? What's up Eldred?
- 1:12:35Speaker 15: Hey, fellow lady, how y'all doing good? Two questions? Uh,
- 1:12:41Speaker 15: just take o rid of Jack Jones? Any chance Bolan
- 1:12:44Speaker 15: coming back?
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: He's going the whole.
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: Are Yeah, he's too much for that one.
- 1:12:51Speaker 8: And yes, sir, I agree with Bart.
- 1:12:54Speaker 15: I disagree with you on on Michael Pennick also him
- 1:12:58Speaker 15: place Sunday and he did Starity and they playing again
- 1:13:04Speaker 15: this Thearity and Drake. Uh that Caleb William guy, he
- 1:13:08Speaker 15: didn't drop them in the pole. So they got him,
- 1:13:10Speaker 15: may I mean they got Pinnick. May Uh that was
- 1:13:14Speaker 15: a guy from U C. L A. And my guy
- 1:13:16Speaker 15: Jordan Travis top runners for the Hoisting Trophy and he's
- 1:13:20Speaker 15: going up with the pig. So no that that that
- 1:13:23Speaker 15: was that that was showed up there. So I would
- 1:13:25Speaker 15: I want to take Caleb william with a can't put pole. Okay,
- 1:13:29Speaker 15: I don't know how you feel about it.
- 1:13:30Speaker 9: Yeah, I think I'm definitely skeptical of Caleb Williams at
- 1:13:35Speaker 9: this point, I think is the way to put it.
- 1:13:37Speaker 9: I feel very very concerned about his attitude, his father,
- 1:13:42Speaker 9: all of it. Very concerned, Like I I do not
- 1:13:46Speaker 9: want LeVar ball here in New England. I have no
- 1:13:48Speaker 9: time for it. Like if you're gonna go run your mouth,
- 1:13:50Speaker 9: if you're gonna go on ESPN and say that it's
- 1:13:53Speaker 9: all you know, the coach's fault and you know he
- 1:13:55Speaker 9: has nobody to throw to and YadA, YadA, YadA, Like
- 1:13:58Speaker 9: I got no time for that, like least like the
- 1:14:01Speaker 9: leak it anominously like the current quarterback, you know, like
- 1:14:03Speaker 9: don't actually like put your face on it. So I
- 1:14:06Speaker 9: just I'm concerned about that with Caleb Williams for sure.
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: Why Why isn't Jordan Travis him actually bring it up?
- 1:14:14Speaker 9: Just think of it.
- 1:14:15Speaker 6: Why isn't Florida State's quarterback getting as much I guess
- 1:14:18Speaker 6: talk even though they're undefeated and you.
- 1:14:20Speaker 9: Know he's candidate, Yeah, yes, he's the Heisman Trophy candidate.
- 1:14:25Speaker 9: I'm not I don't know. I'm not as familiar with
- 1:14:27Speaker 9: him as the other guys just because he isn't in
- 1:14:29Speaker 9: that conversation as like a first round guy. But he
- 1:14:33Speaker 9: is a little bit on the smaller side, a little
- 1:14:35Speaker 9: bit on the older side, I think, too right. We
- 1:14:37Speaker 9: looked this up the other day. Yeah, I don't know exactly,
- 1:14:40Speaker 9: like from a football standpoint why he's not higher. But
- 1:14:44Speaker 9: my guess is one of those guys, whether it's him
- 1:14:47Speaker 9: Bo Nicks, you know, I think you know. Bart just
- 1:14:50Speaker 9: texted me that Ubers might go back to Texas, which
- 1:14:53Speaker 9: is a little surprising because they have arch manning there.
- 1:14:56Speaker 9: One of those guys get end up being my favorite
- 1:14:58Speaker 9: day to guy. I don't know who it's going to be,
- 1:15:00Speaker 9: but one of one of them is. Yeah, one of
- 1:15:03Speaker 9: those guys is gonna be, like, you know, the guy
- 1:15:05Speaker 9: that I'm I'm putting the flag pole in for. Like,
- 1:15:07Speaker 9: if you have to take one on day two, this
- 1:15:09Speaker 9: is who I would take.
- 1:15:10Speaker 6: Question would you take two? Like would you find a
- 1:15:13Speaker 6: new backup? Because like because you don't love you don't
- 1:15:17Speaker 6: love Zappy.
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: Like Robert Griffin too hot, I would not do that.
- 1:15:21Speaker 6: No, not too high like one early.
- 1:15:23Speaker 8: Like like r G.
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: Three. Like Mike said, first and fourth round, I would
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: not do that.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: I do like first and sixth would.
- 1:15:32Speaker 9: I know he's hurt, But if they were to do that.
- 1:15:34Speaker 9: The the duke quarterback is kind of interesting. I don't
- 1:15:37Speaker 9: know who they depends on who they draft quarter If
- 1:15:43Speaker 9: they draft a guy, yeah, if they if they draft
- 1:15:46Speaker 9: a guy that's like super athletic and that's not like
- 1:15:48Speaker 9: you know, Riley Leonard, I don't think it's going to
- 1:15:50Speaker 9: be a great transition back up to that. But if
- 1:15:54Speaker 9: they still have a guy that they hope in an
- 1:15:55Speaker 9: offense that they hope is going to be more of
- 1:15:57Speaker 9: like a pocket passing, you know, traditional offense. And I've
- 1:16:01Speaker 9: liked what I saw from him before he got hurt.
- 1:16:02Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not big on like rookie backup quarterback. I
- 1:16:05Speaker 5: want a guy who's been around a little bit.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: Chris with a t A n is calling and what's up, Christian.
- 1:16:12Speaker 18: Hey lady, Hey guys, how's it going right?
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: Hey man?
- 1:16:16Speaker 18: I had a question about the possibility of Bill returning
- 1:16:22Speaker 18: next year, and would you ever see a scenario where
- 1:16:24Speaker 18: at the end of the year, Bill says to Robert,
- 1:16:28Speaker 18: you know, I'm seventy two. I got both my kids
- 1:16:32Speaker 18: on the staff. I really don't want to start over.
- 1:16:34Speaker 18: I really want to leave here, you know, on good terms,
- 1:16:39Speaker 18: and lead the team in a good place. I'll you know,
- 1:16:44Speaker 18: welcome a GM and defer to GM on on the roster.
- 1:16:48Speaker 18: Do you ever envision any scenario where that could happen?
- 1:16:50Speaker 18: And do you ever see Robert considering that, you know,
- 1:16:54Speaker 18: saying geez, yeah, I want him here too, Like I mean,
- 1:16:58Speaker 18: is there ever I mean, me person want to thought over.
- 1:17:01Speaker 18: I want to clean him with twos the whole way.
- 1:17:03Speaker 18: But do you guys ever see Bill doing that?
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: You know, I can't rule it out. I'd say I
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: bet heavily against it. However, by the time the season's
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: over and Bill kind of reflects on things, maybe he
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: would be like willing to do that. But right now,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: you know, telling me I have to put my money on,
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: I say, no way.
- 1:17:24Speaker 10: I just would like, how could he expect to be
- 1:17:27Speaker 10: successful suddenly allowing someone else to pick his players for him? Like,
- 1:17:31Speaker 10: it just doesn't seem like it's a it's a setup
- 1:17:34Speaker 10: for success that way.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: I well, you still collab, but it's someone else's final decision.
- 1:17:39Speaker 7: I hate collapse so much.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: It's such a big word these days, though, but it's
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: it's someone someone else has final say. But you know,
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: of course they're going to listen to Bill Belichick.
- 1:17:49Speaker 9: Yeah are they?
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: They should?
- 1:17:51Speaker 9: They should?
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: I think if you're going to ask him to coach,
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: he should be on board.
- 1:17:56Speaker 9: Oh yeah, that I just I don't I don't know
- 1:17:58Speaker 9: why we're listening to him in period, but I I
- 1:18:01Speaker 9: have no interest in that setup. Like I understand where
- 1:18:03Speaker 9: the point is. I'm not trying to like it's not it,
- 1:18:05Speaker 9: but you want to keep question is would Bill be
- 1:18:08Speaker 9: open to it? I just think that the the issue is,
- 1:18:11Speaker 9: and I've had this issue with Macro in the past.
- 1:18:13Speaker 9: It's like it depends on who I guess, because like
- 1:18:16Speaker 9: if it's just one of these guys that owes their
- 1:18:18Speaker 9: career to build, and what difference does it make if
- 1:18:20Speaker 9: they just hand it over to Macro and they say, oh,
- 1:18:22Speaker 9: well now you have final say. But Bill's like his
- 1:18:25Speaker 9: dad's best friend and he's got it. You know, tell
- 1:18:27Speaker 9: Bill put him Bill in his place, Like he's not
- 1:18:30Speaker 9: gonna do that.
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fair.
- 1:18:31Speaker 9: So it's just it depends on who it is, I guess.
- 1:18:34Speaker 9: But like it would have to be somebody with some
- 1:18:36Speaker 9: serious clout like that's done it for years and done
- 1:18:40Speaker 9: it successfully and someone that that can really stand up
- 1:18:44Speaker 9: to Bill And I don't know if any of the
- 1:18:45Speaker 9: guys that have been through here are going to do that.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: Thanks all right now.
- 1:18:51Speaker 18: But I was thinking a guy like Ernie just point
- 1:18:54Speaker 18: like somebody really established that it's been a bunch of
- 1:18:56Speaker 18: places that you know that that that could be that.
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: Type of isn't he retired.
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: Like twenty five years right? Like you just meant somebody
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: like oh like that?
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, oh yeah, somebody with Cashet, Thanks Christian, But.
- 1:19:12Speaker 5: I kind of want to go the other way. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:19:15Speaker 5: It's it's hard because you have to identify someone who
- 1:19:18Speaker 5: hasn't done it or like doesn't have a track record.
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: But I think they need to be a little bit
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: innovative in what they do.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: Adam's in London. Hello Adam, Hey everyone.
- 1:19:29Speaker 19: I just wanted to thanks all. I mean, I rang
- 1:19:32Speaker 19: into the postgame. I thanked all of Mike for the
- 1:19:34Speaker 19: event it gives them, but it was great to meet
- 1:19:36Speaker 19: the rest of you as well. On Friday. I never
- 1:19:39Speaker 19: thought I'd be doing the worm on a dance stuff
- 1:19:41Speaker 19: and getting on stage.
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: Was that you was that you doing the work. Oh wow, Yeah,
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: you came out there and just blew everyone away.
- 1:19:50Speaker 5: Yeah, quite impressive.
- 1:19:53Speaker 19: Yeah that's not positivity though. Okay, I think hasn't got
- 1:19:59Speaker 19: the role. Like I said, what I called it on
- 1:20:01Speaker 19: the post game. I think I was still in the
- 1:20:03Speaker 19: high of being in Frankfort and going to the game,
- 1:20:06Speaker 19: but now back home in the UK, I think the
- 1:20:08Speaker 19: headsn't got the role. I don't think that we will
- 1:20:12Speaker 19: get rid of film mid season. You know, we're not
- 1:20:14Speaker 19: that team kind of thing. I think everything he's done
- 1:20:16Speaker 19: for us the end of the year, maybe we kind
- 1:20:19Speaker 19: of stay, thank you and goodbye. But Evan, I think
- 1:20:21Speaker 19: I'm with you, Camra Cord or Joe Judge. I mean,
- 1:20:24Speaker 19: a special team just needs to be changed. We have
- 1:20:27Speaker 19: all these core special teamers don't really play a role
- 1:20:31Speaker 19: offensively or defensively. We've preached about being so great in it,
- 1:20:35Speaker 19: and it's just failing. I mean I watched with my
- 1:20:38Speaker 19: mouth wide open at that punk block, you know, a
- 1:20:41Speaker 19: sixty seven yard field flipper. I get what they were
- 1:20:44Speaker 19: trying to do, but still I was just perplexed. And
- 1:20:47Speaker 19: you know, today we've seen Buffalo have seen an issue.
- 1:20:50Speaker 19: It hates me talking about complementing the bills, but Buffalo
- 1:20:52Speaker 19: have identified an issue and they've reacted. I just think,
- 1:20:57Speaker 19: what are we telling the fan base if we're rolling
- 1:21:01Speaker 19: out the same thing that clearly isn't working.
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: I think we met, But I'll think, all right, thanks Adam,
- 1:21:08Speaker 5: Thanks Adam like that.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: You know when when when a coach does that, like
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: you know, all right, uh fired the offensive coordinator this morning.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: Do you think you know that is an owner that says, hey,
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: you gotta you gotta do something, this is unacceptable.
- 1:21:25Speaker 9: It might be ye I think is trying to save
- 1:21:27Speaker 9: his own but honestly.
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: That might be that it's also been in the works
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: for like a better part of a year and a half.
- 1:21:33Speaker 9: Yeah, honestly, they still have a shot.
- 1:21:35Speaker 5: I mean, oh yeah, that's why. That's why I would
- 1:21:38Speaker 5: do it. Yeah, I mean why I think it was
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: the right thing to do. They have more than a shot. Like,
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: you know, they get Josh Allen playing like Josh Allen again,
- 1:21:44Speaker 5: and they're gonna be like, I know, we joke around
- 1:21:45Speaker 5: like nine and was still in play. I told you
- 1:21:48Speaker 5: that was going to be a problem with But you
- 1:21:49Speaker 5: know that's all over their message boards.
- 1:21:51Speaker 7: Right Oh really?
- 1:21:51Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: No, yeah, it's just just like it.
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: Al's like you that think that's why the ball went
- 1:21:55Speaker 5: through gave Davis's hands, it.
- 1:21:57Speaker 7: Is, I have proof of it.
- 1:21:58Speaker 9: It's not that though, But you know the attention to detail, Paul,
- 1:22:01Speaker 9: it hasn't been there.
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: He did drop one of those fumbles last night that
- 1:22:03Speaker 5: was on him. One of the hand James Cook, he
- 1:22:06Speaker 5: dropping fault was coming out of his hands and then
- 1:22:08Speaker 5: the pick at the end of the half.
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: Was is the OCS fault? Do you blame him for
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: the too many men on the field that last play?
- 1:22:14Speaker 9: No, That's why I think that this is a scapegoat.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: Who's whose fault is that?
- 1:22:17Speaker 5: That was DeMar Hamlin's fault because he came in his
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: n injury replacement and didn't get off the field okay,
- 1:22:24Speaker 5: which is sad because it was like his first defensive
- 1:22:27Speaker 5: snap since he came back. And then I think he
- 1:22:30Speaker 5: was the guy that was out there too long. But
- 1:22:35Speaker 5: what I don't like is when we you know, it's
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: I get the respect thing for Bill because he won
- 1:22:40Speaker 5: six titles and all the all that he's done for
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: the organization that I understand. I don't understand, like you
- 1:22:45Speaker 5: don't want to make those kind of reactionary moves. You
- 1:22:47Speaker 5: don't want to be one of those teams. Like, so
- 1:22:49Speaker 5: every team that's ever fired a guy was the wrong
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: thing to do because it was reactionary. Like, you don't
- 1:22:54Speaker 5: want to be one of those teams that's on the
- 1:22:55Speaker 5: quarterback counsel because and I keep using the Jets as.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: You don't want to be. But sometimes you find yourself.
- 1:23:01Speaker 5: Honest, Sometimes you draft Sam Darnold and it doesn't work out, right,
- 1:23:04Speaker 5: and you realize he's not working out. I'm gonna change.
- 1:23:06Speaker 5: Then I'm gonna draft Zach Wilson, and you realize it's
- 1:23:08Speaker 5: not working out, I'm gonna go and make a trade
- 1:23:11Speaker 5: for Aaron Rodgers, right, Like, I don't think that it's
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: necessarily a bad thing. It's it's bad that you're missing,
- 1:23:18Speaker 5: but I don't think it's bad that you're saying, I
- 1:23:20Speaker 5: identified this guy, he can't do it.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: You don't want to be one of those teams without
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: a franchise quarterback. Yeah, you don't know, but it's not
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: everyone can have him.
- 1:23:27Speaker 5: But when you recognize that you don't have one, the
- 1:23:30Speaker 5: longer you wait, the more you set the process back.
- 1:23:32Speaker 7: And that's what I think we all kind of figured
- 1:23:34Speaker 7: out this weekend.
- 1:23:34Speaker 9: I think that's kind of how I feel like about
- 1:23:37Speaker 9: the either ors of like, Okay, Marvin Harrison or a
- 1:23:40Speaker 9: quarterback is like, all you're doing is kicking the quarterback
- 1:23:43Speaker 9: can down the road.
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: And I just think it's so I think everybody looks
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: at that San Francisco thing and says, let's do it
- 1:23:49Speaker 5: that way. Well, and it's so much harder to do
- 1:23:52Speaker 5: it that way.
- 1:23:52Speaker 10: So ev how much do you think you'll be And
- 1:23:55Speaker 10: I mean I might be right there with you. But
- 1:23:56Speaker 10: if they're picking third overall and it seems like May's
- 1:23:59Speaker 10: gonna go first, to are repounding the table to try
- 1:24:01Speaker 10: to get up and get them a chance to get
- 1:24:03Speaker 10: them like.
- 1:24:04Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean what it depends like obvious.
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: So you like both these guys, Well May's gone and
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: you can get Williams.
- 1:24:15Speaker 9: You're saying, ghettum, Oh yeah, I'd run the card up there.
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: So you're not afraid to take Williams.
- 1:24:19Speaker 9: No, I'm not afraid to take them. It's just given
- 1:24:21Speaker 9: the situation, I would prefer to take May. But and
- 1:24:25Speaker 9: I know that there's a lot of draft analysts now
- 1:24:26Speaker 9: that are starting to sway to me.
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: With that, because if you because I think Williams is
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: the most talented quarterback, but if you're afraid to take them,
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: then don't take them.
- 1:24:37Speaker 6: I think his baggage, I think is yeah problem.
- 1:24:40Speaker 5: I think that's why May is leapfrogging him is because
- 1:24:42Speaker 5: of the ball I haven't talked.
- 1:24:45Speaker 9: I have to. This is one of the hardest parts
- 1:24:47Speaker 9: for us about the draft is like we unfortunately we
- 1:24:50Speaker 9: can't interview these guys like the teams do, and we
- 1:24:53Speaker 9: don't do the you know, the background like the teams
- 1:24:55Speaker 9: do and stuff like that. You have to find out
- 1:24:58Speaker 9: about Caleb Williams, like what, you know, what is he
- 1:25:01Speaker 9: really like? You know what is he what what it
- 1:25:03Speaker 9: was teammates think about him? What it was? You know,
- 1:25:05Speaker 9: Lincoln Riley, what does he think about him?
- 1:25:07Speaker 5: You know what?
- 1:25:07Speaker 9: What do people in his outer inner circle think about him?
- 1:25:11Speaker 9: Because on the outside looking in, there's been comments to
- 1:25:15Speaker 9: the media that he's made that I haven't really loved that,
- 1:25:18Speaker 9: you know, earlier this year that were a little bit spotty.
- 1:25:21Speaker 9: His dad is is very very LeVar ball like, and
- 1:25:24Speaker 9: then he's crying in his mom's arms at the end
- 1:25:26Speaker 9: of the game the other night, Like I just I
- 1:25:30Speaker 9: don't know if I like any of that. But like
- 1:25:32Speaker 9: you said, Fred, I think just all things equal, he's
- 1:25:35Speaker 9: probably the most talented guy.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: Okay, how about speaking of West Virginia and the Cody's
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: on the line. What's up to Cody? All right?
- 1:25:45Speaker 16: Hey, that's I got two things heavan whenever you get
- 1:25:49Speaker 16: into the draft watching that, take a look at Beanie Bishop.
- 1:25:54Speaker 16: He's a corner from which virginiay does lead the nation
- 1:25:57Speaker 16: and pass breakup just you know, they round thing.
- 1:26:00Speaker 9: How about this. I actually saw him play live Oklahoma
- 1:26:05Speaker 9: against TCU. Oh yep, saw him play live. It was
- 1:26:09Speaker 9: good there. They had a TCU had a corner too though.
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: That I probably had like two or three of them.
- 1:26:15Speaker 9: That that is going to be drafted and uh yeah
- 1:26:18Speaker 9: he stood out he did.
- 1:26:20Speaker 16: And uh instead of like say, if May is gone
- 1:26:24Speaker 16: and I'm not really high on Williams taking Marvin Harrison
- 1:26:29Speaker 16: and then maybe moving up and taking Jaydon Daniels in
- 1:26:33Speaker 16: the late first round, what do you think about that?
- 1:26:37Speaker 9: I'm okay, like I I hear the argument. I think
- 1:26:40Speaker 9: the concern that I have with it is is Mac
- 1:26:43Speaker 9: Jones can't be here.
- 1:26:45Speaker 5: I like it on I like it, but it's hard.
- 1:26:48Speaker 9: So then you're you're counting on Daniels being ready to
- 1:26:51Speaker 9: start right away, or you're signing like a stop gap
- 1:26:54Speaker 9: like a Jacobe Brissette maybe or someone like that to
- 1:26:57Speaker 9: like start a few games for you if you can't mads.
- 1:27:00Speaker 5: Theory of Davis Mills sure four thousand times. Just its
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: like that's Matt Jones. Yeah, I just only bigger.
- 1:27:08Speaker 9: I just have concerns about that because you you have
- 1:27:11Speaker 9: to find a stop gap at that point. I think
- 1:27:13Speaker 9: I don't think you can count on you know, look
- 1:27:15Speaker 9: at like the Jalen Hurts like he didn't start right
- 1:27:18Speaker 9: away and it wasn't what it is now right away
- 1:27:21Speaker 9: either for him. Like it's gonna take some time with
- 1:27:23Speaker 9: a guy like that.
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, it's We're almost an hour and a
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: half into the show. Paul's food just arrived, so let's
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: get to that. We'll be right back after this.

- 1:28:36Speaker 12: Get everyone a very pleasant good afternoon in here from
- 1:28:40Speaker 12: Deutgia Banks Stadium and Frankfurt, Germany. The stabbed to Jones
- 1:28:45Speaker 12: back in the bocket, throws down Pay on a crab
- 1:28:47Speaker 12: bot bike is sect to throat.
- 1:28:49Speaker 8: He ships one in across.
- 1:28:50Speaker 12: The middle between the hashmatch at the thirty five and
- 1:28:53Speaker 12: Mike makes the grab in front of the quarterback Jalen Jones.
- 1:28:56Speaker 22: It's a nice job, Plimandre Stevenson. He's your scam back,
- 1:29:00Speaker 22: so he steps up. But then he's helping you on
- 1:29:02Speaker 22: the blitz pick guy, but he's right over the left guard.
- 1:29:04Speaker 22: And this is an eleven yard dart. That's a little game.
- 1:29:07Speaker 22: They run in the middle and it's a really good
- 1:29:08Speaker 22: throw by Jones to get the ball.
- 1:29:10Speaker 7: Get sick.
- 1:29:10Speaker 12: Jones fake's right back by right, loves it left here
- 1:29:13Speaker 12: in the flats, caught by Elliot, runs right all the
- 1:29:15Speaker 12: venders here sideline bow hand. He's night down in the
- 1:29:18Speaker 12: open field from the saving tackle made by a diving
- 1:29:21Speaker 12: Jalen Jones.
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: It's a little flip. There was no fake in the backfilm.
- 1:29:25Speaker 8: Mack Jones is looking to give a little fake.
- 1:29:27Speaker 22: It's pump right gets it backside to Elliott, and I
- 1:29:30Speaker 22: thought Elliott had a chance to be gone, but it's
- 1:29:32Speaker 22: the guy that comes back onto the field from the
- 1:29:35Speaker 22: outside the clips down seat.
- 1:29:37Speaker 8: He thought he was gone. Gives it to Elliott pig
- 1:29:39Speaker 8: Hole up the middle.
- 1:29:40Speaker 12: Shep's a tackle at the twenty five and he's tackled
- 1:29:43Speaker 12: from behind, brought down by Tyler.
- 1:29:45Speaker 8: Let's given. See Kayshawn Boody in the game.
- 1:29:47Speaker 22: Here his first drive out there walking on the edge,
- 1:29:50Speaker 22: Matt looks to his right.
- 1:29:51Speaker 8: He's pressured.
- 1:29:52Speaker 12: He moves up. Handy spun down covers that Mack's his
- 1:29:55Speaker 12: way into the sack. Dioe o'dangbo there for Gidian Appolo.
- 1:30:00Speaker 22: See this is this is the problem with Juju has
- 1:30:02Speaker 22: to be elevated to beer number one. He's got nothing,
- 1:30:05Speaker 22: He's got nothing in the lakes right now.
- 1:30:07Speaker 12: Now the rookie Chad Ryland to kick it out of
- 1:30:09Speaker 12: a mold of the rookie.
- 1:30:10Speaker 8: Barringer from straight on.
- 1:30:11Speaker 12: This kick from thirty eight yards and the kick is
- 1:30:13Speaker 12: airborne of the uprights and the kick is good. So
- 1:30:16Speaker 12: the Patriots get the game's first lead on the game's
- 1:30:20Speaker 12: opening possession, but they settle for three instead of six.
- 1:30:25Speaker 5: From the half yard line across the.
- 1:30:27Speaker 12: Leven Mount the mind shooting on a huddle, the ver
- 1:30:30Speaker 12: race with Taylor behind it, heavy set to the right.
- 1:30:33Speaker 12: Toss goes like Taylor, touch it under the right arm,
- 1:30:35Speaker 12: bouncing outside, Courts on bitside in the end zone, out
- 1:30:38Speaker 12: its feet a touchdown of the lead for Indianapolis.
- 1:30:44Speaker 8: No chance here.
- 1:30:46Speaker 22: Sean Wade on a pick the tight end, the third
- 1:30:50Speaker 22: tight end they bring in, everyone has toss sweep it's
- 1:30:53Speaker 22: Katie bar the door that's a lead block and just
- 1:30:55Speaker 22: completely spit. Stop wade around, easy flip. This is why
- 1:30:59Speaker 22: you run ball instead of sneaking in. You have backs
- 1:31:02Speaker 22: that the how to get it in. Give it to them,
- 1:31:04Speaker 22: want to drive by. The Colts got your on your
- 1:31:07Speaker 22: heels well led by Gardner Minch and he had the
- 1:31:09Speaker 22: big throat to get it. Play on a third down j.
- 1:31:13Speaker 12: Stas a yard deep and then the pickers come with
- 1:31:15Speaker 12: it all out rush and he puts it away and
- 1:31:17Speaker 12: then with nobody.
- 1:31:18Speaker 15: Back to return the ball.
- 1:31:19Speaker 12: Lad Shy of the thirty five bounces inside the twenty
- 1:31:22Speaker 12: five rules, across the twenty and comes to a stop
- 1:31:25Speaker 12: between the hashmarks at the seventeen of New England.
- 1:31:29Speaker 8: He expins me, what they know what we're doing, all right?
- 1:31:32Speaker 8: So you not have enough people on the field. That's
- 1:31:34Speaker 8: when hid to run the cycle. It's up to the
- 1:31:36Speaker 8: twenty five because I.
- 1:31:37Speaker 12: Think they took schooler from the jammer.
- 1:31:42Speaker 8: To try to block, and he spun dout.
- 1:31:45Speaker 12: Sack backs his way into the sack and Mack goes down,
- 1:31:49Speaker 12: shripped up as he got away from the initial defender
- 1:31:52Speaker 12: and then just lost his balance and Mac is gonna
- 1:31:54Speaker 12: be sacked again. Jones dropping back, We're gonna throw. He's
- 1:31:57Speaker 12: pressured another sack on third down, gonna be.
- 1:32:00Speaker 7: Hit a gag.
- 1:32:01Speaker 8: He tries to escape. Let's go six feet pushing forward,
- 1:32:04Speaker 8: but he has brought down at the lattest scrimmage away
- 1:32:07Speaker 8: not Ti fighting.
- 1:32:07Speaker 12: Up his sack.
- 1:32:08Speaker 22: Here's getting your tails, got just passed her picked down,
- 1:32:12Speaker 22: then rush Year.
- 1:32:13Speaker 12: They will saying, hey sack because there was no game,
- 1:32:16Speaker 12: so a sack freighting out. This is a team that
- 1:32:19Speaker 12: came in, by the way, with twenty two sacks in
- 1:32:21Speaker 12: nine games and now has.
- 1:32:23Speaker 8: Five sacks in five series. I just sucks more fired
- 1:32:26Speaker 8: up for playing wonder off shot.
- 1:32:29Speaker 12: That snap showed her high a four man rush. Minshew
- 1:32:32Speaker 12: moves up, throws on the go, ball's timpting.
- 1:32:34Speaker 11: It does Bryan to timpting, Brian pitching and he has
- 1:32:38Speaker 11: a him midfield take away to New.
- 1:32:40Speaker 8: England the second time this year. Tomorro's got it off
- 1:32:42Speaker 8: the tip right, talk about.
- 1:32:44Speaker 22: Gilatnie Toby Police in the middle, finds the zone. Boy
- 1:32:48Speaker 22: was he open? Mitchen could have raid it even picked
- 1:32:50Speaker 22: it up. He decided to throw it to Vie with
- 1:32:52Speaker 22: the tip and Brian with the pick.
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: Get him do something.
- 1:32:55Speaker 8: Now got the ball of midfield, snaps it back to Jones.
- 1:32:58Speaker 8: He stands in the fox. I'm on hash out.
- 1:33:00Speaker 12: Jonson now shovels it up, her hand on out and
- 1:33:02Speaker 12: Stevens angel on the mess.
- 1:33:05Speaker 8: He's in complain landing on the.
- 1:33:06Speaker 22: Turf at the twenty nine line, the critical juncture. It
- 1:33:12Speaker 22: is third down and you're filling the pressure again. Ball
- 1:33:14Speaker 22: should have been gone.
- 1:33:15Speaker 8: Clocking your head. It's gotta be ticking.
- 1:33:18Speaker 7: We've got to have an inturnal clock.
- 1:33:19Speaker 9: It's a quarterback down there.
- 1:33:21Speaker 22: Thing street up, one, two, three, balls gotta be gone. Nope,
- 1:33:23Speaker 22: you step up and then you did for a flip,
- 1:33:26Speaker 22: a dangerous one and for Mandre's.
- 1:33:29Speaker 8: Tips to Stevens and chipped the ball away. Andre Stevens
- 1:33:32Speaker 8: in safest till two hands. He shoveled this ball in
- 1:33:35Speaker 8: the air falling to the ground. It's in it. It's
- 1:33:37Speaker 8: you can't explain it.
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: It's in explain inexplicable what he just.
- 1:33:41Speaker 12: Did playing fake by Jones dropping back, Tom Jones.
- 1:33:46Speaker 11: Blow SAPs, put back foot long and black Man, who
- 1:33:50Speaker 11: missed an opportunity for an in zone figure air, takes
- 1:33:54Speaker 11: it away just short of the end zone and the
- 1:33:57Speaker 11: Colts take over inside the five.
- 1:34:00Speaker 8: I got to ask at some point, the repetitive.
- 1:34:04Speaker 22: The reoccurring, critical, backbreaking mistake. You could be thirteen to fifteen,
- 1:34:12Speaker 22: you could be control of the game, and you just
- 1:34:16Speaker 22: can't do this. It is a backthrow, non pressure, absolute
- 1:34:22Speaker 22: gift he gives the Colts.
- 1:34:23Speaker 8: So it's not competitive.
- 1:34:25Speaker 12: He ain't get sicky running behind the new put in
- 1:34:28Speaker 12: the back end zone in step.
- 1:34:29Speaker 8: What's he's looking at? You gotta make a move, Bill,
- 1:34:34Speaker 8: you gotta make a move.
- 1:34:36Speaker 12: Five weeks here and here comes Bailey's Applets go, kid,
- 1:34:40Speaker 12: you're here for the Patriots.
- 1:34:41Speaker 8: It's the right call to make here, the right call.
- 1:34:44Speaker 8: I knew when pick happened. He said, you gotta set
- 1:34:46Speaker 8: it down.
- 1:34:48Speaker 12: Sappy played thirty snaps in seven series. In the weeks
- 1:34:51Speaker 12: four and five. You're leaving Jones late versus Dallas and
- 1:34:55Speaker 12: New Orleans, both runaway losses. Now he's got a chance
- 1:34:58Speaker 12: to engineer heroics. Put a long field to navigate down
- 1:35:01Speaker 12: for it from the fourteen. Zappi in his third appearance
- 1:35:04Speaker 12: of this season. Two l was a starter last year.
- 1:35:07Speaker 12: Now when a relief he snaps it, takes the snap,
- 1:35:09Speaker 12: he faked it, He throws down, pass it off, a
- 1:35:12Speaker 12: break up the ball and an interception by Rodney Thomas,
- 1:35:15Speaker 12: the Patriots trying to fake the spike. Sappy quoted one
- 1:35:22Speaker 12: down the middle and Thomas rented all the.
- 1:35:24Speaker 8: Way in center field. And the Golds are gonna celebrate
- 1:35:28Speaker 8: in Frankfurt. Whether it was the starter or the reliever
- 1:35:33Speaker 8: the last two series for the Patriots.
- 1:35:36Speaker 22: And in an interception, Oh, I think we're at the
- 1:35:40Speaker 22: point it's a hope de prier for the reliever at
- 1:35:42Speaker 22: that point. The problem is you see too much for
- 1:35:44Speaker 22: the starter in a way that's gone at too many
- 1:35:46Speaker 22: of those opportunities and games.
- 1:35:48Speaker 8: We're head to the buy and it's time to make
- 1:35:50Speaker 8: a switch. And now the Golds at victory formation.
- 1:35:55Speaker 12: Let me ask about that decision though, to call that
- 1:35:57Speaker 12: play in that situation that those are the guy who's
- 1:35:59Speaker 12: just coming in of the game.
- 1:36:00Speaker 22: Like I said, you're climbing them out here at that point,
- 1:36:03Speaker 22: you know, no prep going in and all.
- 1:36:04Speaker 12: That, but minshew taking the knee and the final snap
- 1:36:07Speaker 12: in Frankfurt, where the Patriots and the Colts in the.
- 1:36:11Speaker 8: NFL fun in Germany with your Buddy concludes its schedule
- 1:36:15Speaker 8: in Germany. Here it's twenty twenty three.
- 1:36:21Speaker 12: The site, the atmosphere, the fandom all lived up two,
- 1:36:27Speaker 12: if not exceeded expectations, and the Patriots who came here
- 1:36:34Speaker 12: hoping to turn things around at least for the second
- 1:36:37Speaker 12: half of the season to avoid a three game losing streak.
- 1:36:43Speaker 8: As a home team in Frankfurt.
- 1:36:46Speaker 12: Fall in a fashion all too similar in twenty twenty three,
- 1:36:53Speaker 12: so many of us. They dropped the decision ten to
- 1:36:56Speaker 12: six to the Indianapolis Colts.
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: All right back here in Patriots Unfiltered eight five five
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: pass five hundred is the a sticking outline web radio
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: at Patriots dot com. Is the email address. It's deuced Tamara,
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: Evan Paul, myself back from Germany. We're talking, you know,
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: it's we've quickly moved on from the game, and you know,
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: we're really kind of talking about the buy and what's next.
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: So let's get to some of these emails that are
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: coming in, lots of them. And you know, again, thank
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: you for all the fans that are sticking with us,
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: both calling, emailing, coming to the games, watching on TV,
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: buying the apparel. Uh that that's the best part of
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: this whole thing is is the fans. And that's why
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: I was most. The thing that upset me the most
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: of not winning in Germany is that we let down
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: those fans. So can't get that back. Let's see Mike
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: writes in he says, love the show. Outside of the
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: two blowout losses, the other lie were within one score.
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: I was really hoping for wins against the Colts, Raiders,
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: and Commanders. If we had taken those winnable games, we
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: would actually be in contention for a playoff spot. So
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: what is the reason it seems traditional Patriots strengths like
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: special teams, attention to detail in other words, no dumb penalties,
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: receivers in the right spots, etc. And strong situational football
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: are no longer the norm. Definitely some very poor drafting,
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: but is it also because of some poor work by
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: the more junior assistant coaches as well? Our Belichick's kids
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: good coaches. Is there a scouting problem Hubris by the
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: head coach thoughts.
- 1:38:39Speaker 9: I would say that for the most part, for the
- 1:38:42Speaker 9: most part, if you look at teams that are bad,
- 1:38:46Speaker 9: this is how it looks. Not every game is going
- 1:38:48Speaker 9: to be a thirty point blowout.
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: Most games in the league are not.
- 1:38:52Speaker 9: Right, So a lot of the time, even when a
- 1:38:55Speaker 9: team finishes two and fifteen or three and fourteen or
- 1:38:58Speaker 9: something like that, there's probably a handful of games that
- 1:39:01Speaker 9: are were coin flips and they and they could have
- 1:39:03Speaker 9: gone the other way had a couple of bounces or
- 1:39:06Speaker 9: a couple of things gone in their direction. But that
- 1:39:09Speaker 9: that's just the way it is. Like, I don't I
- 1:39:11Speaker 9: don't think that that's too uncommon that a team that's
- 1:39:14Speaker 9: two and a has like three or four games that
- 1:39:17Speaker 9: they probably could say, oh, well, you know, if Kai
- 1:39:20Speaker 9: Shan Boody gets his foot in bounds in week one,
- 1:39:22Speaker 9: or if you know, they may they pick up that
- 1:39:25Speaker 9: lateral thing on fourth down against the Dolphins or like
- 1:39:28Speaker 9: what I think a lot of teams could.
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: Probably do that.
- 1:39:30Speaker 5: Yeah, And in three of their eight losses were blowouts.
- 1:39:33Speaker 5: They lost by multiple scores in three three games that's
- 1:39:37Speaker 5: a lot. You know that that means that you're probably
- 1:39:40Speaker 5: one of the lower echelon teams. And yeah, I agree
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: with Evan. I think you could talk yourself into having
- 1:39:45Speaker 5: a chance to win games. If you miraculously have a
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: lateral to alignment down a touchdown in the last thirty
- 1:39:52Speaker 5: seconds of a game, you can say that what we
- 1:39:55Speaker 5: could have won, that we should have won that game.
- 1:39:58Speaker 5: I'd argue you were a lot closer to losing one
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: of the games you won than winning that one.
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: Yeah, be careful about what you say about one score
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: games because pretty much every Super Bowl was that.
- 1:40:07Speaker 5: Pretty much every game in the league is going to
- 1:40:10Speaker 5: lead into that. I want to say seventy eight percent
- 1:40:12Speaker 5: of the games in League one score.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: Most of these games are like that, you know. And
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: the difference between the good teams and the bad teams
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: is when the pressures down the stretch, they make the
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: plays and and the bad teams don't. And that's where
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: the Patriots are these days. They used to be a
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: good team and they'd make those plays, and now they don't.
- 1:40:31Speaker 10: I think that was what's most surprising, just that they
- 1:40:33Speaker 10: didn't take advantage of those opportunities down the end. I
- 1:40:35Speaker 10: mean I felt pretty sure they were going to win
- 1:40:36Speaker 10: the game, you know, in regards to the defense. So
- 1:40:39Speaker 10: I I which game the game.
- 1:40:42Speaker 7: Did I win?
- 1:40:42Speaker 5: Which game? Did you say you felt pretty sure they
- 1:40:44Speaker 5: were going to win?
- 1:40:45Speaker 10: When they were sitting on the goal line with like
- 1:40:46Speaker 10: two minutes left and Mac was about to throw an
- 1:40:48Speaker 10: interception right before that pretty you know what's at that moment,
- 1:40:51Speaker 10: I was like, I thought they were going to score
- 1:40:53Speaker 10: a touchdown.
- 1:40:53Speaker 5: I didn't think they were going to Wait, there was
- 1:40:54Speaker 5: a lot of time left still. Yeah, I would say
- 1:40:57Speaker 5: to the defense, like five and a half minutes left
- 1:40:59Speaker 5: when that happened, was.
- 1:41:00Speaker 9: It really yeah?
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: Yeah, because the Colts took over.
- 1:41:03Speaker 5: And got a first down.
- 1:41:05Speaker 6: When the big happened, it was elevens.
- 1:41:08Speaker 10: Haven't really done anything right the rest of the game.
- 1:41:10Speaker 10: You thought, you felt pretty good the Colts were going
- 1:41:12Speaker 10: to put thought.
- 1:41:13Speaker 5: I thought the Colts scored after every time the Patriots scored,
- 1:41:15Speaker 5: and I think they would have done it again.
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: He I know, he's like that. I felt that the
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: Patriots had got a touchdown, they were going to win.
- 1:41:22Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:41:22Speaker 5: I think the best they would have had was overtime.
- 1:41:25Speaker 5: They might have held him to a field goal, but
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: I have no doubt that they would have gone down, And.
- 1:41:29Speaker 7: I'm surprised that you're so sure about that.
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: I just watched, I mean, because he thinks the defense stinks.
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: That's his way of saying.
- 1:41:35Speaker 5: I didn't think. First of all, I didn't think they
- 1:41:37Speaker 5: stunk on Sunday. I thought the defense played pretty well
- 1:41:40Speaker 5: on Sunday. But I think that there were opportunities that
- 1:41:43Speaker 5: the Colts had every time they had the ball to
- 1:41:45Speaker 5: move more than they did, and I think that they
- 1:41:49Speaker 5: would have probably moved. I'm judging on the last three years,
- 1:41:52Speaker 5: not like just nothing, not like waiting for something bad.
- 1:41:57Speaker 9: I'm interesting to see what you're said about the defense
- 1:41:59Speaker 9: because I have we haven't talked anything about the d Yeah.
- 1:42:01Speaker 10: Well, I mean I said, I still, you know, I
- 1:42:03Speaker 10: kind of have confidence still in the defensive coaching staff.
- 1:42:05Speaker 10: I just think that they don't have game changers upfront,
- 1:42:08Speaker 10: and they don't have a pass rush guy who can.
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: Win, and they couldn't finish.
- 1:42:11Speaker 7: Yeah, and then that was that was the biggest thing.
- 1:42:13Speaker 18: You know.
- 1:42:13Speaker 10: It's just it's they're trying their hardest, you know, with
- 1:42:16Speaker 10: key On White and I mean, but Barbour is really
- 1:42:17Speaker 10: the only pass rusher I feel like they have right
- 1:42:19Speaker 10: now who can win a one on one matchup and
- 1:42:21Speaker 10: actually get to the quarterback.
- 1:42:22Speaker 7: It's not try to block him.
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: He's not a rusher.
- 1:42:25Speaker 5: No, he's a past Yeah.
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: I mean he's the only one who he's not a
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: sack guy.
- 1:42:30Speaker 10: But I you know, digging like yesterday, I kind of
- 1:42:32Speaker 10: nerded out on a bunch of stats, but it just
- 1:42:34Speaker 10: it feels all like the twenty twenty defense to me
- 1:42:35Speaker 10: that they just they don't really have a stud upfront,
- 1:42:38Speaker 10: and I think, you know, if they did, they probably
- 1:42:40Speaker 10: would have finished out Garderon Minshew a couple of times.
- 1:42:42Speaker 10: But overall, I still think that they're playing pretty hard.
- 1:42:44Speaker 10: They're they're they're doing pretty good job against the run.
- 1:42:46Speaker 5: I think they're doing really well.
- 1:42:47Speaker 10: They just don't have the horses right now, and I
- 1:42:49Speaker 10: think that that's you know, what what this defense is at.
- 1:42:51Speaker 10: But you know, put Jude On and Gonzales back in
- 1:42:53Speaker 10: the mix and I think you'd really, you know, start
- 1:42:55Speaker 10: to see a defense that's capable.
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: If you're if you're a sack guy, Barmore is your
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: best friend, yeah, because he's gonna disrupt and he's gonna
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: the quarterback is gonna fall in just him.
- 1:43:04Speaker 10: And doesn't move the needle. I mean, Evan and I
- 1:43:07Speaker 10: were talking about him. I mean we both kind of
- 1:43:09Speaker 10: saw the same thing with It's like, why is trying to.
- 1:43:11Speaker 7: Power through guys like that is not his game.
- 1:43:13Speaker 10: It's like he's small, he's quick, he should be trying
- 1:43:15Speaker 10: to get around guys and get the edge. But you know,
- 1:43:17Speaker 10: Evan and I'll let him expound upon it, but he
- 1:43:19Speaker 10: had the point. A lot of times you couldn't tell
- 1:43:21Speaker 10: if they just had so little pass rush juice or
- 1:43:23Speaker 10: if they're really just trying to keep Gardner Minshew in
- 1:43:25Speaker 10: the pocket because they were that scared of letting him
- 1:43:27Speaker 10: get out, which is kind of curious.
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: I know, I know, it doesn't know, it doesn't make sense,
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: but they was gonna make a mistake. Yeah, I just
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: did once.
- 1:43:35Speaker 9: I just thought that with I worry that he knows
- 1:43:39Speaker 9: that they want fundamentally sound edge setters, like guys that
- 1:43:43Speaker 9: are gonna keep contained and guys that are gonna set
- 1:43:46Speaker 9: the edge of the defense and things like that. And
- 1:43:48Speaker 9: when I watch him rush now, I just don't see
- 1:43:51Speaker 9: last year he had all these finesse moves, like like
- 1:43:53Speaker 9: he had a full Repertoirey yeah, like the yeah, I
- 1:43:57Speaker 9: mean exactly.
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:43:59Speaker 9: You know, speed rush was obviously like his base, his foundation,
- 1:44:02Speaker 9: but he had all sorts of stuff off of the speed.
- 1:44:05Speaker 9: And now this year it's just like it's like a
- 1:44:07Speaker 9: speed to power bull.
- 1:44:08Speaker 10: Run into the wall and the guy just takes like
- 1:44:10Speaker 10: one step and is like, Okay, you're not going anywhere.
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:44:13Speaker 9: And I just wonder if Dad has to do with
- 1:44:14Speaker 9: the fact that he's being coached to keep the guy
- 1:44:17Speaker 9: in the pocket and play that kind of football. And
- 1:44:20Speaker 9: if I was the Patriots at this point, I just
- 1:44:22Speaker 9: let him loose, like just like, get him, get after
- 1:44:24Speaker 9: the quarterback. If you lose contain, you lose contain.
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: Like Minshew doesn't seem like the guy that you have
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: to worry about that, No, just get it. I don't
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: get him.
- 1:44:32Speaker 5: And I do think they played well on Sunday for
- 1:44:34Speaker 5: they kept them in the game. I mean, they gave
- 1:44:35Speaker 5: ten points.
- 1:44:37Speaker 9: I thought they didn't play very well to be honest, Okay.
- 1:44:40Speaker 5: I you know what I think of as a whole,
- 1:44:42Speaker 5: And I thought, I don't want a nitpick because Fred
- 1:44:45Speaker 5: just gets mad at me and we get in Samantha arguments. Yeah,
- 1:44:48Speaker 5: I thought the reason they only scored ten points is
- 1:44:49Speaker 5: because either Minshew miss guys or they dropped the pass
- 1:44:52Speaker 5: when he actually got it there.
- 1:44:53Speaker 9: I watching it back, I sort of felt the same way.
- 1:44:56Speaker 12: Now.
- 1:44:56Speaker 5: They were excellent against the Run.
- 1:44:57Speaker 9: I couldn't agree more that they really shut down Run.
- 1:45:01Speaker 9: They built the wall all game long, Guy God, show Wise,
- 1:45:05Speaker 9: bar More. All those guys deserve a ton of credit
- 1:45:09Speaker 9: for how they held the line of scrimmage all and
- 1:45:11Speaker 9: did it all without Juwan Bentley.
- 1:45:13Speaker 5: So a point that Mike and I hammered in the
- 1:45:16Speaker 5: postgame show how impressive it was without the one guy.
- 1:45:19Speaker 9: Yeah, that you'd expect to be a huge party. They
- 1:45:21Speaker 9: were really good upfront in this game, played really well.
- 1:45:24Speaker 9: I thought the past defense exactly the same as it
- 1:45:26Speaker 9: did against the Commanders. And you know, Sam Howell just
- 1:45:30Speaker 9: made a few more plays than than Gardner made.
- 1:45:32Speaker 5: There was opportunities for half dozen twenty plus yard plays
- 1:45:36Speaker 5: in that game that either Minch you missed or like
- 1:45:38Speaker 5: the tight end dropped down the sideline.
- 1:45:40Speaker 10: Yeah, but but how many of those do you feel
- 1:45:42Speaker 10: like we're like four seconds into the down because he
- 1:45:44Speaker 10: had been like scurrying and guys.
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: But how many of them did you watch the replay
- 1:45:48Speaker 5: and see, why didn't you just throw it to this
- 1:45:50Speaker 5: guy right away? Oh yeah, And then he would scramble
- 1:45:52Speaker 5: and say, well, why did he throw it to that guy?
- 1:45:54Speaker 5: He's not open? Yeah, like I thought they could have
- 1:45:56Speaker 5: right down to the you know, you need you need
- 1:45:58Speaker 5: a three and out after you after you throw the
- 1:46:02Speaker 5: pick right, you want to get the ball back after
- 1:46:05Speaker 5: that three and out And it's third in less than
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: one and they call a fakacta center violation for no
- 1:46:11Speaker 5: reason at all. They showed the replay. You didn't move
- 1:46:13Speaker 5: the ball at all. Now it's third and six, you
- 1:46:17Speaker 5: gotta get off the field. Yeah, they got like a
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: thirty yard play to Josh down eight.
- 1:46:20Speaker 9: Yeah, that was that was the one that I highlighted.
- 1:46:22Speaker 9: That's down.
- 1:46:23Speaker 5: That's why I think if they gone ahead thirteen to ten,
- 1:46:26Speaker 5: the best they would have had was overtime, because I
- 1:46:27Speaker 5: think now they're gonna throw the ball in every play.
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: They're not gonna waste downs by running into a brick wall.
- 1:46:33Speaker 5: They're gonna throw it in every play. They're gonna move
- 1:46:35Speaker 5: fifty yards and kick a field goal at minimum.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: Terrence from Colt's territories, I just want to say the
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: trip over to Frankfurt was awesome. Too bad we had
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: to witness that crappy product on the field. We definitely
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: need a new quarterback because Mac is broken. It needs
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: a new change of scenery. Unlike most Patriots fans, I'm
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: putting all of these issues at the foot of the
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: head coach, who most most people continue to give a pass.
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: I know you as many people give him a pass,
- 1:47:02Speaker 5: is give maca pass.
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: I know you all can't say it because you work
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: for the Patriots, but I know deep down you have
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: to believe it's time for a change. Bill needs to go.
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: I'm all for having a new voice within the organization
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: because this team will never evolve with his cheap and
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: stubborn way of doing things. I'll be totally happy with
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: an offensive minded coach to pair with the next quarterback.
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: If Bill stays with the new quarterback, it will be
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: more of the same, trust me.
- 1:47:26Speaker 7: So hopefully a free wheel in spending offensive.
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: On the other hand, Rich and Santa Cruz, right Zin.
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: Sorry if you've already covered this, but as a fan,
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: I do not want to get rid of Bill. Being
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: a fan is about wins, sure, but it's also about
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: the characters. The people. Didn't we learn or listen about
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: kicking Brady out the door? Yes, Bill struggled with drafting
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: for the last decade, but there is so many factors
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: in that luck injury staff. If Brock Purdy doesn't show
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: that drafting can be a crapshoot, then I don't know
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: what does. Being a fan is not just wearing a
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: Patriots jersey. Keep Bill, keep Billy, Oh, sit Mac now,
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: and let's draft and empty the bank and draft picks
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: and trade draft picks for known players that have proven
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: themselves in the NFL. Still trusting Bill and loving having
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: our jerky, morose, cranky leader. He is the Patriots and
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: I love it. And I want to fly or drown
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: on this ship that has given us the best ride
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: we've had in football history and see if he can
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: turn it around.
- 1:48:21Speaker 6: I just.
- 1:48:23Speaker 5: Admirable loyalty.
- 1:48:24Speaker 9: Yeah, how many more?
- 1:48:26Speaker 5: No, I'm dead serious. How much more admirable loyalty?
- 1:48:28Speaker 9: How many more losing seasons do we have to get
- 1:48:30Speaker 9: until we realized that he wasn't it? Can I just
- 1:48:32Speaker 9: like it wasn't him? Sorry, obviously, I.
- 1:48:35Speaker 5: Think we all disagree with the sentiment, but I'm just
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: gonna pick up one particular part. Okay, so brock Purdy
- 1:48:43Speaker 5: is obviously shows you what a crapshoot it is, so
- 1:48:47Speaker 5: has nothing to do with anybody that works with brock
- 1:48:49Speaker 5: Purdy after that. Okay, So then why are we in
- 1:48:52Speaker 5: love with Bill Belichick, who had the same crapshoot come
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: in on Tom Brady? Because if we're not going to
- 1:48:57Speaker 5: give Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco staff any credit
- 1:49:00Speaker 5: for what they're doing with brock Purty, then why are
- 1:49:03Speaker 5: we giving it to Bill for winning six titles with
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: a crap shoot at one ninety nine?
- 1:49:07Speaker 10: Yeah, I tell you that crap shoot in the twenty
- 1:49:09Speaker 10: twenty two draft is just an absolute train wreck right now.
- 1:49:12Speaker 10: I mean, I just Bill barn Yes, and he doesn't
- 1:49:16Speaker 10: even watch the games because he just refers to him
- 1:49:18Speaker 10: as like he refers to Cole Strange as like, oh,
- 1:49:20Speaker 10: he's been in and out of the lineup, and like
- 1:49:22Speaker 10: you don't have any clue what you're talking about if
- 1:49:24Speaker 10: that's all you're seeing with Cole Strange, Like he can't
- 1:49:26Speaker 10: play guards, Like that's the problem, not that he was in.
- 1:49:28Speaker 9: And out of this somebody else.
- 1:49:30Speaker 5: I ang Reduce is my new family.
- 1:49:33Speaker 10: I mean he's standing next to DeForest Buckner. It looks
- 1:49:35Speaker 10: like his son, you know, like and that's how big
- 1:49:36Speaker 10: DeForest Buckner is. And he was just like just keep
- 1:49:38Speaker 10: going like he's giving him lessons, Like I'm sorry. Like
- 1:49:41Speaker 10: that whole draft class other than whatever Marcus Jones gives
- 1:49:44Speaker 10: you on punk returns is almost a complete and total wash.
- 1:49:47Speaker 9: But we could have told you that at the time.
- 1:49:49Speaker 5: But I liked about the Barnwell thing. It was eight years.
- 1:49:53Speaker 5: It's not like, oh, he missed on that draft class
- 1:49:54Speaker 5: last year.
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: It's eight years.
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: They had like two players in the top three rounds.
- 1:50:00Speaker 9: Other than Marcus Jones. They they overdrafted every single player
- 1:50:04Speaker 9: in that draft, Like Cole Strange was really a Day
- 1:50:07Speaker 9: two guy that they drafted in the first round, Taekwon
- 1:50:09Speaker 9: was really a Day three guy that they drafted in
- 1:50:11Speaker 9: the second round. And Marcus Jones was the only pick
- 1:50:13Speaker 9: that they went with the consensus guy. And he's the
- 1:50:15Speaker 9: best player that you got in the draft.
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: And really he's kind of just a punt returner, right yeah.
- 1:50:20Speaker 9: And that's what as like a third round pick, Like
- 1:50:23Speaker 9: you'll you'll take what he's given you when he's healthy.
- 1:50:25Speaker 9: But everybody else on that board was like we were
- 1:50:29Speaker 9: like a surprise, Like Paekwan was like, really like this
- 1:50:31Speaker 9: guy at fiftieth overall, and that wouldn't.
- 1:50:34Speaker 10: Be surprised to see all of those people we just
- 1:50:36Speaker 10: named out of the mix next year if there was
- 1:50:38Speaker 10: you know, a complete like kind of reduce, so none
- 1:50:40Speaker 10: of those guys.
- 1:50:41Speaker 9: With cold strange. I could not agree with you more.
- 1:50:44Speaker 9: I mean, it's it's bad. I What I do wonder
- 1:50:46Speaker 9: with him is if he's a center. Yeah, and maybe
- 1:50:49Speaker 9: like when Andrews retires, if he takes over at center,
- 1:50:52Speaker 9: because at center you can be as small.
- 1:50:53Speaker 7: It's the last resort, right, That's that.
- 1:50:55Speaker 5: I mean, there's nowhere else he's going, and he's not
- 1:50:56Speaker 5: going to running back.
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: Friend of the show frequent email caller spiin Fresno is
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: getting open heart surgery tomorrow. Yes, good luck to you.
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: Thoughts with you, he writes an he sees I felt
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: bad for Mac. He looked like a tortured soul on
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: the sidelines after the pick, even more than normal. I
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: figured Bill saw that and determined Mac was mentally too
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: checked out to see the field anyway. Last week, on
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: Catch twenty two, Evant pointed to coaching points not getting
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: through the players as a problem with the players. Yes,
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: the receivers are running five and a half yards when
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: they've been told to run six, that's their fault. But
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: communication is a two way street. Maybe Bill is stretched
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: too thin, or maybe he's delegating to the wrong people,
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: But it's plausible that somewhere along the line the coaches
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: aren't the sort of communicators they need to be for
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: the players of today. That's a big reason to root
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: for a younger, modern coaching regime.
- 1:51:47Speaker 9: REGINI yeah, I mean that was my That was my
- 1:51:49Speaker 9: entire point was like I think that people we have
- 1:51:52Speaker 9: callers that call in an emailers that that say, why
- 1:51:56Speaker 9: not just get a GM and pair him with Bill?
- 1:51:59Speaker 9: And it's like I've watched this entire year and even
- 1:52:02Speaker 9: mostly last year too, What what is Bill good at
- 1:52:06Speaker 9: coaching anymore? Like where what about this team over the
- 1:52:09Speaker 9: last two years says that coach is pretty good? Like
- 1:52:13Speaker 9: where where on the field have they been a well
- 1:52:15Speaker 9: coached team?
- 1:52:16Speaker 10: They're an eerr repeating team, which I think is probably
- 1:52:18Speaker 10: like the biggest indictment of what he's usually standing.
- 1:52:21Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean on defense, if they send another like
- 1:52:23Speaker 9: nickel Blitz, where the guy just flies right by the
- 1:52:26Speaker 9: quarterback and doesn't actually bring him down. I'm gonna lose
- 1:52:28Speaker 9: my mind. They can't. They don't tackle well on defense.
- 1:52:31Speaker 9: They don't play like smart, fundamentally sound defense, you know,
- 1:52:35Speaker 9: before the half, to Paul's point, like there's a wheel
- 1:52:37Speaker 9: route down the sideline that Jalen Mills just lets go.
- 1:52:40Speaker 9: Like everybody else is playing main coverage except Jalen Mills,
- 1:52:43Speaker 9: and they're all looking around at him after the play
- 1:52:46Speaker 9: like that that was your guy, dude, Like what do
- 1:52:48Speaker 9: you what are you doing? He thinks it's zone, so
- 1:52:50Speaker 9: he like plays the flat there the tight end just
- 1:52:52Speaker 9: runs right by him. That should have been a touchdown.
- 1:52:54Speaker 5: I thought my my take on the defense was gonna
- 1:52:57Speaker 5: get attacked by evidently being too.
- 1:53:00Speaker 6: And then also special teams is a disaster.
- 1:53:02Speaker 9: Special teams is a disaster. They run zero blitzes now,
- 1:53:05Speaker 9: where like there's just six guys open, like it's just
- 1:53:08Speaker 9: everybody's open on the play and there's no effect.
- 1:53:11Speaker 5: I printed out some of the league stats, so do
- 1:53:13Speaker 5: you know that? I love that the twenty third their
- 1:53:16Speaker 5: receiving team. So their average starting drive is twenty third.
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: In the league.
- 1:53:20Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, Uh there, that's their receiving team. They're kicking team.
- 1:53:25Speaker 5: They average allowing the twenty seventh bet like they're not
- 1:53:30Speaker 5: good on kick return or kick off their punter. I
- 1:53:34Speaker 5: probably won't be able to find that. Now is down
- 1:53:38Speaker 5: in the lower third. Let's put that way. He is
- 1:53:40Speaker 5: on the he is on the way up a little bit.
- 1:53:42Speaker 7: I see one on your back of your thing. There
- 1:53:43Speaker 7: there's a highlight. Did you highlight something?
- 1:53:45Speaker 5: No, those are just highlighted when the You never look
- 1:53:47Speaker 5: at the stats when they send the Patriot. I don't
- 1:53:49Speaker 5: have a color printer. They but they still highlights.
- 1:53:53Speaker 7: That's what confused me. I thought you did extra work.
- 1:53:55Speaker 5: I don't.
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: I don't do any work.
- 1:53:57Speaker 5: I just like for a team. Again, I know everybody
- 1:53:59Speaker 5: said this, but for a team that carries itself like
- 1:54:04Speaker 5: treating that third phase of the game as important as
- 1:54:07Speaker 5: the other two.
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: It's not.
- 1:54:08Speaker 5: But they treat it that way and they still lag behind.
- 1:54:12Speaker 9: If you can just tell me where, point to me
- 1:54:15Speaker 9: where they're well coached. Yeah, point to me where they're
- 1:54:19Speaker 9: a well coached team in any of the three phases the.
- 1:54:22Speaker 5: Stout in two, gapping up front and stopping the run.
- 1:54:24Speaker 9: There it is thank good job to Marcus can.
- 1:54:28Speaker 5: I make one more point two about the twenty twenty
- 1:54:30Speaker 5: two JAFT class.
- 1:54:30Speaker 10: You know how he always you know, he always are like, well,
- 1:54:32Speaker 10: you really got to wait three years, Like we don't
- 1:54:35Speaker 10: have to wait through it. Like I'm like a year
- 1:54:36Speaker 10: and a half, we're done. Like that draft class is done.
- 1:54:39Speaker 10: It's Marcus Jones and what it does.
- 1:54:42Speaker 5: Last year, how people talked about this draft class, Well,
- 1:54:45Speaker 5: you gotta starting guard. He's gonna plug plug and play
- 1:54:47Speaker 5: to plug and play. And you got Thornton, he can fly.
- 1:54:50Speaker 5: Look what he was doing before he got it slow start,
- 1:54:52Speaker 5: but then look what he did against Cleveland. Another hit,
- 1:54:54Speaker 5: Marcus Jones, dynamic all pearl Putt returner, won a game
- 1:54:57Speaker 5: for you look at him. Jack Jones picked six on
- 1:55:00Speaker 5: on Aaron Rodgers. That was the draft class. And we
- 1:55:02Speaker 5: didn't have to wait three years then, right, we don't
- 1:55:05Speaker 5: know now Deuce has gotta.
- 1:55:11Speaker 9: Right now.
- 1:55:12Speaker 5: But everybody was telling us how negative we were last year.
- 1:55:17Speaker 9: I'm too harsh on cold Strange. It's like, do you
- 1:55:19Speaker 9: watch the game?
- 1:55:20Speaker 10: I mean, you feel pretty confident about he will not
- 1:55:23Speaker 10: be a starting guard for the team next year.
- 1:55:24Speaker 9: He will not be the start he shouldn't be. I
- 1:55:26Speaker 9: mean the guy, the guy that they drafted in the
- 1:55:28Speaker 9: fourth round is already better than he is.
- 1:55:30Speaker 5: Right, So you think it'd be Mafi and so I
- 1:55:33Speaker 5: don't know, but it ain't gonna be him.
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: Jeffrey and Canada, I get it. I get a lot
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: of the talk will be Mack this week, which is deserved. However,
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: I think ownership needs to stay focused on the root
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: cause of all this, which for me is Belichick. Mike
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: is right. It's the drafts, where he has been picking
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: the wrong players over and over for about a decade.
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: It's defenders will name the two to three good players
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: he's got like a blind squirrel, but ten years, six
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: plus picks per year, and almost nothing to show for it.
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: It's been mentioned on this show that Bill despises the
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: current college game, but news flash, ninety nine percent of
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: the players who play NFL football come from college football. Now,
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: ten years later, all the other teams have evolved and
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: know what players to draft that will work. Based on
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: his track record, Bill can't you can't miss on ninety
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: percent of your picks and say you know what you're doing.
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: Does anyone in this show see any way? Bill is
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: still with the Patriots next year.
- 1:56:26Speaker 5: It's getting harder to think that, but yeah, I don't know.
- 1:56:30Speaker 5: Be interesting. And just to be clear, Bill has always
- 1:56:32Speaker 5: hated the college game. That's not a new phenomenon. He
- 1:56:35Speaker 5: doesn't hate the he doesn't hate the current college game.
- 1:56:38Speaker 5: He's always hated college football. Screens, go routes. That's what
- 1:56:42Speaker 5: he used to say all the time. This is back
- 1:56:43Speaker 5: in like three when he would talk to him big plays, turnovers.
- 1:56:47Speaker 9: Yeah, that's like, I'm a product to college football, not
- 1:56:50Speaker 9: a fan. I agree with that.
- 1:56:51Speaker 10: The pageantry you need the professional football players who are
- 1:56:54Speaker 10: going to take it.
- 1:56:55Speaker 5: So I got to tell you, what do you mean?
- 1:56:56Speaker 5: This is probably not good to bring up in one
- 1:56:58Speaker 5: fifty seven, but I think the current game right now
- 1:57:02Speaker 5: this season hasn't been.
- 1:57:03Speaker 7: Great, the scoring being down.
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: I don't find the scoring.
- 1:57:06Speaker 5: Being down because I'm not a big I gotta have
- 1:57:08Speaker 5: like a forty one to thirty. I mean Detroit, the
- 1:57:10Speaker 5: Detroit Chargers game was fantastic to watch the other day,
- 1:57:13Speaker 5: But I don't want every game like that. That was
- 1:57:16Speaker 5: like a one off, two good offenses going head to head,
- 1:57:19Speaker 5: making plays all over the place. Now, part of me
- 1:57:22Speaker 5: was still sitting there saying, why the hell are they
- 1:57:24Speaker 5: not double team in Keenan Allen. You know, why are
- 1:57:26Speaker 5: you letting him catch like thirteen balls from one hundred
- 1:57:28Speaker 5: and eighty yards and two touchdowns or whatever it was.
- 1:57:30Speaker 9: Guy still play as well, you know, but like one hamstring.
- 1:57:36Speaker 9: I agree.
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: I don't think the league. I don't think the games
- 1:57:38Speaker 5: have been great now.
- 1:57:39Speaker 9: There's not enough padded practices, Like I know that people
- 1:57:41Speaker 9: don't want it, Like I understand everybody's got the same
- 1:57:44Speaker 9: playing field. Yeah, everybody's got the same playing field, so
- 1:57:46Speaker 9: they all stink like you got the offensive line player
- 1:57:49Speaker 9: around the around the league is an epidemic, like they
- 1:57:52Speaker 9: nobody can block anybody. They they have to find a
- 1:57:54Speaker 9: way in the summertime to have more padded practices, obviously safely,
- 1:57:59Speaker 9: like no one wants to get hurt, No one wants.
- 1:58:01Speaker 5: The injuries have also been huge this year, and I
- 1:58:03Speaker 5: know it's probably the same as always, but it just
- 1:58:05Speaker 5: seems like there's been a lot of serious injuries this year.
- 1:58:08Speaker 10: I mean, do you think that this is a red
- 1:58:09Speaker 10: flag to the league of how do we pick scoring
- 1:58:12Speaker 10: back up? I mean, it seemed like they've been so
- 1:58:13Speaker 10: intent on that la.
- 1:58:14Speaker 5: I don't know, I don't I don't necessarily. Like I said,
- 1:58:16Speaker 5: I'm not necessarily upset with the caliber play because the
- 1:58:19Speaker 5: scoring is down. I just don't think that it's been,
- 1:58:23Speaker 5: you know, down, because the defenses are really good.
- 1:58:26Speaker 10: The games have probably been close though to there's got
- 1:58:28Speaker 10: to be a stat out there about how games have
- 1:58:30Speaker 10: probably been.
- 1:58:30Speaker 5: I mean, there was six there were six game winning
- 1:58:33Speaker 5: walk off field goals. That's a record this weekend, just
- 1:58:36Speaker 5: this weekend. So maybe they are going to get any
- 1:58:38Speaker 5: of these people on the phone.
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: We don't have time, but I appreciate everyone calling an emailing.
