- 0:01Speaker 1: What's up everybody. Hope you are doing well. We wanted
- 0:03Speaker 1: to let you know. This podcast episode was recorded on Wednesday,
- 0:07Speaker 1: September third, twenty twenty five. By the time you hear this,
- 0:10Speaker 1: some things may have changed here there, but we hope
- 0:11Speaker 1: you enjoyed the show. Welcome to the Philadelphia Sports Table
- 0:55Speaker 1: podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly sports podcast show
- 0:59Speaker 1: in the world, twelve years strong. We've got a great
- 1:01Speaker 1: show coming your way. It is our Eagles season preview show.
- 1:05Speaker 1: As this twenty twenty five, twenty twenty six Eagles season
- 1:08Speaker 1: is just about underway here. If you're listening to this,
- 1:11Speaker 1: it might already have been underway. The Thursday night game
- 1:14Speaker 1: against the Eagles and Cowboys may have already taken place
- 1:16Speaker 1: by the time you're listening to this. I'm Jeff Warren.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Here are my good buddy, Len Hunt sicker buddy, how
- 1:21Speaker 1: are you, man?
- 1:22Speaker 2: I'm good. I'm I'm ready to see some Eagles football,
- 1:25Speaker 2: ready to see how they follow up on a on
- 1:28Speaker 2: a title defense.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Absolutely, and we're gonna get into some NFL predictions as well.
- 1:34Speaker 1: We're gonna talk division winners, wild card winners as well.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I think this is gonna be a fantastic show. It
- 1:40Speaker 1: is all football basically this week, except for our listener feedback,
- 1:45Speaker 1: which we are going to get into in the plaint department.
- 1:48Speaker 1: It really is like that's what that's basically what it is.
- 1:51Speaker 1: It is the complaint I love that, the complaint department.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Why don't we call it that? It shouldn't even be
- 1:57Speaker 1: listener feedback anymore.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Well, I mean they're not complaining about us, which is good.
- 2:02Speaker 2: That's true, you know, So as long as that's the case,
- 2:04Speaker 2: then we're doing what we're supposed to do.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I guess I love the complaint department aspect of this.
- 2:10Speaker 1: We're gonna get into that. But again, again really quick
- 2:13Speaker 1: in terms of the show outline for this week, get
- 2:17Speaker 1: getting some listener feedback with regard to Major League Baseball,
- 2:21Speaker 1: how people have to watch it as well as the Phillies. Then,
- 2:24Speaker 1: like I said, our NFL predictions for this upcoming season,
- 2:27Speaker 1: all division winners, wild card, who's going to win the
- 2:30Speaker 1: NFC and AFC championship games, the Super Bowl matchup super
- 2:33Speaker 1: Bowl winner. Gonna dive into those predictions, and then we're
- 2:36Speaker 1: gonna get into the Eagles fifty three man roster, talk
- 2:38Speaker 1: about concerns on offense and defense. What we're most excited
- 2:42Speaker 1: for about the offense and defense as well this year.
- 2:45Speaker 1: But then we're gonna get into the Eagles season predictions,
- 2:48Speaker 1: which is who's going to be the breakout guy on
- 2:50Speaker 1: the team this year, who is going to be the
- 2:52Speaker 1: Eagles rising star player, who's going to be the guy
- 2:54Speaker 1: that needs to rebound this year, the defensive player of
- 2:58Speaker 1: the year, the offensive player of the year, the Eagles
- 3:00Speaker 1: regular season record. We're gonna give all those predictions, and then,
- 3:04Speaker 1: as we do every year, it is a tradition here
- 3:07Speaker 1: at the PSD podcast show to talk to our good
- 3:09Speaker 1: friend Brandon Lee Gouten from Bleedinggreen Nation dot com to
- 3:12Speaker 1: get his take on what we can expect from the
- 3:14Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles this coming season. Is part of our Eagle
- 3:17Speaker 1: season preview show. So lend buddy, why don't we get
- 3:20Speaker 1: into our listener feedback really quick here, and we are
- 3:25Speaker 1: going to start off with one of our good friends, April,
- 3:29Speaker 1: who lives down south, and she's responding actually to something
- 3:32Speaker 1: that Eric and I this past week, I should say,
- 3:36Speaker 1: on last week's show talked about. She said, hey, guys,
- 3:38Speaker 1: in response to this past week's show, I totally agree
- 3:41Speaker 1: with your ramp. My dad and I have a special
- 3:43Speaker 1: extra issue that we both live outside the greater Philadelphia area.
- 3:47Speaker 1: We pay for Major League Baseball MLB Network, but we
- 3:51Speaker 1: are blocked out for Atlanta Braves games. Do I need
- 3:55Speaker 1: to mention that we are two hundred and ten miles
- 3:56Speaker 1: from Truest Park and we pay to watch every MLB
- 4:00Speaker 1: game of choice, but cannot watch our preferred team, the
- 4:03Speaker 1: Philadelphia Phillies whenever they play the Braves, regardless of where
- 4:07Speaker 1: they play. And do not get me started on the commercials.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I am absolutely ready to buy a Defender just so
- 4:16Speaker 1: I don't have to watch another single commercial about that
- 4:18Speaker 1: damn car. So that that was part one of the
- 4:22Speaker 1: complaint Department len part two. As we get into this,
- 4:26Speaker 1: it's more of a compliment to Eric. She says, always
- 4:29Speaker 1: love Eric, especially his hair. Ooh la la boy oh
- 4:34Speaker 1: la la. But I am head about that Eric exactly exactly.
- 4:39Speaker 1: But I've never loved him more than his take on
- 4:41Speaker 1: Jordan Romano. Every time he steps on the mound, I
- 4:43Speaker 1: lose a year off of my life. A la count
- 4:47Speaker 1: Rugan's life sucking machine from The Princess Bride Always loved
- 4:52Speaker 1: the Top three list guys, even if they are the
- 4:54Speaker 1: worst of keep up the awesome work and therapy that
- 4:57Speaker 1: is your show. So thanks so much for the email. April. Again, Len,
- 5:00Speaker 1: I love how you said it's the complaint department, but look,
- 5:04Speaker 1: she absolutely has a point. Major League Baseball. Like, I
- 5:07Speaker 1: was actually watching something online today where they're talking about
- 5:10Speaker 1: all the streaming services. They're talking about how sports are
- 5:13Speaker 1: being watched anymore, and specifically what's gonna be happening with
- 5:16Speaker 1: the NBA as well, and that people are just gonna
- 5:19Speaker 1: have to purchase every freaking streaming service out there in
- 5:22Speaker 1: order to watch their teams play, just these leagues and
- 5:26Speaker 1: associations if they want to enjoy the sport anymore. It's
- 5:29Speaker 1: it's really getting sad, it's getting pathetic, it's getting expensive,
- 5:32Speaker 1: and these these folks at the higher ups, they really
- 5:36Speaker 1: don't give a shit.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Well and and if you guys talked about this at all,
- 5:42Speaker 2: by all means let me know. But I have a
- 5:46Speaker 2: you mean you didn't listen to the show. I did
- 5:49Speaker 2: not listen to it this past week, kidding, that is correct. So,
- 5:55Speaker 2: and I hate to be dooming gloom here, but there
- 5:59Speaker 2: is a war coming down the pike. The owners won
- 6:04Speaker 2: a salary cap. The MLB Players Association had said, we'll
- 6:08Speaker 2: never do a salary cap. So the the CBA runs
- 6:13Speaker 2: out after the twenty twenty sixth season, after next season,
- 6:17Speaker 2: after that happens, there will By the way everybody's talking,
- 6:21Speaker 2: I'm guessing we're looking at probably another strike or another
- 6:25Speaker 2: lockout or another something. And if that cuts into any time.
- 6:29Speaker 2: I feel like we've had a few of these just
- 6:31Speaker 2: since we've started the show. And maybe I'm wrong. I
- 6:33Speaker 2: know we've had at least one. Now we're close close, yeah, yeah,
- 6:39Speaker 2: So at that point, like you're really like, you know,
- 6:44Speaker 2: more than more than ever. People don't have a lot
- 6:47Speaker 2: of money, so now the millionaires are fighting the billionaires
- 6:52Speaker 2: and guess who doesn't care. So they if they do
- 6:56Speaker 2: that and they alien out, alienate their audience. And my
- 7:00Speaker 2: hope is that they okay, as a concession, whenever we
- 7:05Speaker 2: do come back, they say, all right, major League Baseball
- 7:08Speaker 2: app have no blackouts everybody. Because where I live right
- 7:12Speaker 2: now in central Pennsylvania, I can't watch the Phillies, I
- 7:15Speaker 2: can't watch the Pirates, I can't watch the Orioles, and
- 7:18Speaker 2: I can't watch the Nationals. That's four teams I can't
- 7:21Speaker 2: watch their games. So if they go down that route,
- 7:25Speaker 2: if they do a strike, I'm already ready to walk.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I'm already thinking ahead and I'm getting myself ready to walk.
- 7:34Speaker 2: So if you want to get me back, guess what
- 7:36Speaker 2: that MLB app it's all free or not all free? Okay,
- 7:40Speaker 2: I get you know you're going to have people, you know,
- 7:42Speaker 2: subscribeing to a service. But that blackout shit that I
- 7:46Speaker 2: can't watch my team, any of that stuff that's over
- 7:50Speaker 2: or else you that has to be if this happens,
- 7:53Speaker 2: that has to be a give back to the fans.
- 7:57Speaker 2: It has to be non negotiable because a man, you
- 8:01Speaker 2: were really playing with fire with, you know, doing another
- 8:04Speaker 2: one of these things. If it happens, and based on
- 8:07Speaker 2: the animosity between owners and players and the tough talk,
- 8:11Speaker 2: I've been here and I don't see a scenario in
- 8:15Speaker 2: which they get that hammered out. So that's that's my hope.
- 8:20Speaker 2: If they do it, and and when they come back,
- 8:23Speaker 2: you better get rid of the blackouts.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Otherwise there's gonna be a lot of pissed off people,
- 8:29Speaker 1: and there's gonna be a lot of people leaving watching it.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I'm serious, Like I remember us talking about it before, like,
- 8:34Speaker 1: are people actually going to leave?
- 8:37Speaker 2: Because strike it's already a sport that's you know, you're, you're, you're,
- 8:41Speaker 2: it's a sport that requires attention, and more and more
- 8:44Speaker 2: and more people have less of an attention span. Great
- 8:47Speaker 2: point because of all that stuff. So you're trying like
- 8:50Speaker 2: hell to bring people back. If you go away again,
- 8:54Speaker 2: you better be ready to hand it over because that's
- 8:58Speaker 2: the only way you're getting people back. It's definitely the
- 9:01Speaker 2: only way they're getting me back if it goes down
- 9:03Speaker 2: that route. I should be able to go on that
- 9:05Speaker 2: app that I go on, and it shouldn't just be
- 9:08Speaker 2: you know, Padres versus Brewer as I'm watching it right
- 9:10Speaker 2: I should be able to watch every Phillies game right
- 9:13Speaker 2: there on that app.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Absolutely, absolutely great feedback there, April and Len. That's pretty
- 9:19Speaker 1: good analysis about what we may be seeing in the future,
- 9:21Speaker 1: for sure. But moving along with listener feedback, we had
- 9:24Speaker 1: another email from longtime listener Francis and this is a
- 9:29Speaker 1: very simple email, Len, simple, straight to the point. He
- 9:33Speaker 1: wasn't screwing around at all. Francis is not screwing around
- 9:37Speaker 1: at all. Shot us an email off right after the
- 9:40Speaker 1: Phillies lost three games to the Mets in a row.
- 9:44Speaker 1: He says, dropping three straight against the Mets fucked them,
- 9:48Speaker 1: lazy motherfuckers. That's it. Nothing else to really say it all.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Appreciate you guys, Hope you have a great holiday weekend.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Thank you so much. It was so just in your face,
- 10:01Speaker 1: like you know what, I hate this team, but I
- 10:03Speaker 1: do what really quick, Lynn, I want to say, Francis,
- 10:05Speaker 1: that was like the most that's like the most Philly
- 10:08Speaker 1: sports type of email that you could have given to
- 10:11Speaker 1: the complaint department and to the listener feedback portion of
- 10:14Speaker 1: this show. I mean, it was so Philly of you
- 10:17Speaker 1: in that moment to do that. I loved it, Lynn.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and he's not wrong. I mean they better hope,
- 10:23Speaker 2: like hell, the Mets don't make the playoffs because if
- 10:26Speaker 2: they have to play the Mets again in the playoffs, sorry,
- 10:30Speaker 2: I'm not picking them, Yeah I can't. I mean, look,
- 10:33Speaker 2: based on what's happened this season, based on how it
- 10:35Speaker 2: ended last season, there's something about that team where there's
- 10:38Speaker 2: just some kind of bugaboo where they just swing it
- 10:42Speaker 2: awful shit. I just I don't know what happens when
- 10:45Speaker 2: they play that team, yep, but I just I have
- 10:49Speaker 2: no faith in them against the Mets.
- 10:51Speaker 1: It's you can't at this point, you can't, you know.
- 10:55Speaker 1: I mean, we've seen what we have seen. It's whether
- 10:58Speaker 1: it's they're getting in their head. And I'm talking about
- 11:00Speaker 1: the Phillies players, whether they are in their own heads,
- 11:03Speaker 1: especially when they're at City Field. It is absolutely astonishing
- 11:07Speaker 1: what this team goes through when playing the New York Mets.
- 11:10Speaker 1: So great, great emails, folks. We really appreciate you reaching out,
- 11:15Speaker 1: and if you are interested in writing us, sending us
- 11:18Speaker 1: an email Philadelphia Sports Table at gmail dot com. We
- 11:21Speaker 1: would love to read your email here on the show
- 11:23Speaker 1: and respond to it, as we did with Francis's email
- 11:27Speaker 1: and aprils as well. So, len, let's get into our
- 11:33Speaker 1: discussion this week about the professional football. We're going to
- 11:37Speaker 1: talk NFL predictions here for this upcoming season, then get
- 11:41Speaker 1: into some Eagles predictions as well. So let's start off
- 11:45Speaker 1: our NFL predictions here for this as my mic, I
- 11:49Speaker 1: hit my mic and it just picking went everywhere. Did
- 11:51Speaker 1: you see that? Holy crap?
- 11:52Speaker 2: I did.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Let's go through each division. We're gonna pick division winners
- 11:57Speaker 1: and the wildcard winners. At point lend. I mean, hey,
- 12:01Speaker 1: why don't we start off with the Let's start off
- 12:04Speaker 1: with the NFC. Let's go with the NFC North. Who
- 12:07Speaker 1: do you like in the NFC North to win the division?
- 12:11Speaker 2: I feel like this is going to be such a
- 12:13Speaker 2: trendy pick since they got Micah Parsons, But I'm gonna
- 12:17Speaker 2: go Green Bay.
- 12:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Green Bay as well. I think that
- 12:20Speaker 1: they are definitely the favorites. And yes, Michael Parsons really
- 12:24Speaker 1: does put them over the edge. And do I think
- 12:27Speaker 1: Jordan Love is going to be a better quarterback this season?
- 12:29Speaker 1: I absolutely do. He's has a young wide receiver corps
- 12:32Speaker 1: who I think is going to continue to develop with him.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Green Bay Packers for sure for me, So we're definitely
- 12:38Speaker 1: in agreement on that one. Is it Michaeh Parsons with
- 12:41Speaker 1: you in particular? Is that why you're thinking that he's
- 12:44Speaker 1: gonna be able to put them over the edge.
- 12:45Speaker 2: I feel like Jordan Love is going to take a
- 12:49Speaker 2: little bit more of a step forward this year. Parsons
- 12:51Speaker 2: is obviously going to help the defense. Yeah, And I
- 12:54Speaker 2: just feel like, you know, even though I'm going to
- 12:56Speaker 2: pick them spoiler alert is one of my wildcard teams.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I feel like there's got to be some kind of
- 13:02Speaker 2: come back to earth with Detroit, and I think that
- 13:07Speaker 2: I think the Green Bay takes that division.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Okay, let's move over to the NFC West. Let's do
- 13:13Speaker 1: the NFC West. I am going to be picking the
- 13:17Speaker 1: San Francisco forty nine ers to win this division. I
- 13:21Speaker 1: think this is a team that has remained quote consistent
- 13:24Speaker 1: when they don't have injuries. I cannot imagine this team
- 13:27Speaker 1: having as many injuries as they have had the past
- 13:30Speaker 1: couple of seasons.
- 13:31Speaker 2: They really took it on the chin last year.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Really yeah, But I think if they if they are
- 13:36Speaker 1: healthy and are able to stay healthy, I would imagine
- 13:39Speaker 1: they probably would. I cannot imagine them having a season
- 13:41Speaker 1: like last year from an injury perspective. I'm picking the
- 13:43Speaker 1: San Francisco forty nine ers. Do you have in the
- 13:45Speaker 1: NFC West?
- 13:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm also going forty nine ers and again, and
- 13:51Speaker 2: that's just basically because I just can't believe that's going
- 13:54Speaker 2: to happen to them with all those injuries two years
- 13:57Speaker 2: in a row. I just don't see it.
- 14:00Speaker 1: All Right, let's move to the NFC South. Who are
- 14:02Speaker 1: you thinking here? Oh my gosh, I I I gotta
- 14:06Speaker 1: read erics as well. I completely forgot about erics. Well,
- 14:10Speaker 1: why don't you dive into the NFC South at this point,
- 14:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna get Eric's picks up here that he shot
- 14:17Speaker 1: us off a little earlier today.
- 14:20Speaker 2: So the South, I don't know what to make of it.
- 14:24Speaker 2: I don't believe in Carolina yet. The Saints, I think
- 14:28Speaker 2: might end up being one of the worst teams in
- 14:30Speaker 2: football this year. So I think it's a two horse race.
- 14:36Speaker 2: I mean, man, Michael Pennix might be one of the
- 14:40Speaker 2: more interesting players in Niagara football this year because I
- 14:45Speaker 2: think if he does what he can do what I
- 14:49Speaker 2: think he can do. I think Atlanta's got a good
- 14:51Speaker 2: shot at winning that division only because like isn't is
- 14:56Speaker 2: Tristan Wurfs. Is he out for the year for Tampa.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I don't know if he's out for the year. I'll
- 15:01Speaker 1: have to look that up. I don't know if it's this, he's.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Got an injury, Chris Godwins coming back from an injury. Yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 2: there's just a lot going on there. I'm gonna go Atlanta,
- 15:12Speaker 2: but I don't feel great about it. I could if
- 15:15Speaker 2: Tampa wins that division, it wouldn't shock me at all.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Yeah, Tristan Wurf's his return is uncertain. He's going to
- 15:21Speaker 1: miss at least the beginning of this season, So I
- 15:24Speaker 1: do think he'll be back at some point. And guess what,
- 15:27Speaker 1: I'm going with the Atlanta Falcons as well, just because
- 15:29Speaker 1: of what I said with Michael Pennix, and and you know,
- 15:32Speaker 1: I think if if if, oh my gosh, he's their
- 15:35Speaker 1: tight end. Uh pick Kyle Pitts. This guy has so
- 15:39Speaker 1: much talent and has been through the ringer with how
- 15:42Speaker 1: many quarterbacks during his young career.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember when he was how like people were
- 15:47Speaker 2: just going up like, oh man, this guy's going to
- 15:48Speaker 2: be kind of revolutionized the tight end position and all this.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Yeah, he actually has a quarterback that's able to throw
- 15:54Speaker 1: the ball to him. The thing about Michael Pennix was
- 15:58Speaker 1: he didn't always handle the rush well when it came
- 16:01Speaker 1: to that. That last game is last college game ever
- 16:04Speaker 1: against Michigan, he was on the run. He didn't have
- 16:07Speaker 1: a lot of pass pass rushing throughout the course of
- 16:10Speaker 1: his senior year when he was playing, and I think
- 16:13Speaker 1: that could be a bit a bit troublesome for him.
- 16:17Speaker 1: But still I think the Atlanta Falcons are gonna take
- 16:19Speaker 1: that division for sure. I'd be remissed if I didn't
- 16:23Speaker 1: read Eric's predictions here so far. In terms of the
- 16:27Speaker 1: NFC North, he also picked Green Bay. Lynn. He also
- 16:30Speaker 1: or I shouldn't say also, but he actually picked Tampa
- 16:33Speaker 1: Bay to win the NFC North. Okay, And he picked
- 16:36Speaker 1: the Seattle Seahawks. He thinks, uh, Sam Darnold's gonna gonna
- 16:40Speaker 1: maybe put on a bit of a show there and
- 16:41Speaker 1: get them to the playoffs.
- 16:43Speaker 2: It's I mean, certainly possible.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Yeah, possible, for sure. I guess let's move to the
- 16:48Speaker 1: NFC East. Now, do you think it's gonna be the
- 16:51Speaker 1: Washington Commanders, Lynn? Do you think it is? What do
- 16:53Speaker 1: you think about the NFC East?
- 16:55Speaker 2: The whole uh no team has won the division? Yeah,
- 17:00Speaker 2: back to back years since what was it, three to four?
- 17:04Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 17:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that that makes me like, hmm, but I.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I think, yes, that ship's gonna end.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I I it's I just don't see enough. And
- 17:20Speaker 2: I think Daniels is a hell of a quarterback. But
- 17:25Speaker 2: I I feel like everybody is just waiting to crown him,
- 17:29Speaker 2: waiting to make him like the next Oh, he's the
- 17:32Speaker 2: best quarterback at least in the NFC.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I think there's gonna be some regression with him, to
- 17:36Speaker 1: be honest.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I could. I could see a world in which
- 17:39Speaker 2: there's a step back, and that's you know, look, I'm
- 17:43Speaker 2: not saying the Eagles are going to be a juggernaut.
- 17:45Speaker 2: I I there's some stuff with them that scares me.
- 17:48Speaker 2: I think they've got some holes, particularly defensively that I
- 17:52Speaker 2: think we're gonna have a couple of games here and
- 17:54Speaker 2: there where we're pretty damn frustrated with what we see.
- 17:57Speaker 2: We're going to get into that for sure, absolutely, yeah, yeah, so,
- 18:01Speaker 2: But I just I don't see enough for any of
- 18:03Speaker 2: these other teams to make me go away from the
- 18:06Speaker 2: Eagles unless they have like a forty nine ers type
- 18:09Speaker 2: season with injury. Absolutely, I'm going with the Philadelphia Eagles too.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I think that that streak of not having a back
- 18:16Speaker 2: to back division winner, that shit ends this season.
- 18:20Speaker 1: It's done, So it's done. All right, Let's move over
- 18:23Speaker 1: to the AFC. Now, let's start with the AFC North.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Who do you think is going to be winning the
- 18:29Speaker 1: AFC North this this coming season.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I can't imagine there's gonna be too many people not
- 18:35Speaker 2: picking the Bills.
- 18:36Speaker 1: It's gonna be uh well, that's the that's the AFC East. Oh,
- 18:40Speaker 1: I'm sorry, what did you say AFC North? I mean
- 18:43Speaker 1: IFC North. Yeah, I'm sorry, I'm I'm blacking. Well, okay,
- 18:46Speaker 1: same deal. Just swap out the Ravens for the Bills.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Why don't we Why don't we just do the AFC
- 18:53Speaker 1: East and the AFC North right now? Because you and
- 18:55Speaker 1: I have the same exact yes for these And guess what,
- 18:58Speaker 1: so does everybody else? So does that? Everybody else? Buffalo
- 19:01Speaker 1: winning the AFC East, Baltimore winning the AFC North. Eric
- 19:06Speaker 1: has the same as well. What are your thoughts on
- 19:09Speaker 1: the AFC South.
- 19:11Speaker 2: You know, let's put it this way. The AFC South
- 19:14Speaker 2: is the only division where not everybody is going to
- 19:17Speaker 2: have the same team, right, I mean we can we
- 19:21Speaker 2: agree on that, I think so yep, Oh man, you
- 19:26Speaker 2: want to talk about a division that, I mean talk
- 19:29Speaker 2: about pooty Shards. Don't know what to make of these teams.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Jacksonville seems perpetually like tripping over themselves. The Colts quarterback
- 19:39Speaker 2: situation is abysmal. Yeah, I mean Ward over in Tennessee.
- 19:44Speaker 2: I just he's a rookie it's an awful lot to
- 19:47Speaker 2: put on him. It's Texans by default for.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Me, Okay, Texans by default. I'm actually going to go
- 19:54Speaker 1: with what Eric Eric thought too. I think Jacksonville is
- 19:57Speaker 1: going to take that next step. I do. I mean,
- 20:00Speaker 1: I believe it's going to happen finally, maybe one of
- 20:02Speaker 1: these years. Christ I keep picking him every freaking year.
- 20:06Speaker 1: It doesn't happen. It's gonna happen one of these years eventually, right, Yes, Look,
- 20:11Speaker 1: I think Trevor Lawrence. Yes, he is a very high
- 20:13Speaker 1: paid quarterback for the type of productivity that he gives
- 20:16Speaker 1: this team way too many interceptions a year after a year.
- 20:19Speaker 1: But I do think that Trevor Lawrence is going to
- 20:21Speaker 1: really help this offense in a lot of ways this year.
- 20:23Speaker 1: From a jority standpoint, He's going to be able to
- 20:26Speaker 1: get the ball downfield in my opinion.
- 20:27Speaker 2: So yeah, he's a guy that, you know, if you're
- 20:30Speaker 2: looking for a leap candidate, a guy to really take
- 20:32Speaker 2: a step forward this year. Yeah, if he happens to
- 20:35Speaker 2: be that guy, then yeah, they're a slammed uck.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I think in the South, well, Eric and I may
- 20:39Speaker 1: be talking about the Houston Texans at some point Okay,
- 20:43Speaker 1: that's where we're moving along with our predictions. So let's
- 20:45Speaker 1: go now with the uh the AFC West at this point,
- 20:49Speaker 1: I mean, the Chiefs I think are still going to
- 20:52Speaker 1: remain on top. Patrick Mahomes, Yeah, he's taking some steps back,
- 20:56Speaker 1: and certainly against Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, but
- 20:59Speaker 1: I think gets the Chief's division to lose here at
- 21:02Speaker 1: this point. Are you think of the same thing, I.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Mean until just like I won't pick Penn State to
- 21:08Speaker 2: be Ohio beat Ohio State until they actually do, right,
- 21:10Speaker 2: I'm not picking anybody to win the AFC West until
- 21:13Speaker 2: they actually do so. Yeah, Kansas City, for me, I
- 21:17Speaker 2: think that that Super Bowl against the Eagles is probably
- 21:21Speaker 2: gonna leave a pretty nasty taste in their mouth. And
- 21:24Speaker 2: I think there's gonna be a lot of guys on
- 21:25Speaker 2: that team that are motivated to come back and say, hey,
- 21:29Speaker 2: we're not dead yet.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Yep.
- 21:31Speaker 2: So I think that they're gonna I think they may
- 21:34Speaker 2: have more of a chip on their shoulder than any
- 21:36Speaker 2: team in football.
- 21:37Speaker 1: All right, very good, and I think I think that's
- 21:40Speaker 1: absolutely valid, of course, given the way that their season
- 21:43Speaker 1: ended against the Eagles. So Eric also picked the Kansas
- 21:46Speaker 1: City Chiefs. I forget if I had mentioned that. So
- 21:49Speaker 1: let's go through the wild Yeah, let's go through the
- 21:51Speaker 1: wild card here, NFC wild card Eric actually has the
- 21:56Speaker 1: Detroit Lions, San Francisco forty nine Ers, and Chicago Bears.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Who do you have for your wild card? I'm gonna
- 22:04Speaker 1: say Detroit, Yep, I'm going to say the Rams. Detroit's
- 22:09Speaker 1: actually one of mine as well for the wild cards.
- 22:11Speaker 1: So Rams, okay, yeph.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Like I I like everything about the Vikings except the
- 22:19Speaker 2: fact that they've got a rookie quarterback.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Yeah, so I don't think it's that's a pretty good quarterback.
- 22:25Speaker 2: I mean, he's heard all last year, so who's who's
- 22:28Speaker 2: really to say? Yeah? Man, none of these other teams
- 22:32Speaker 2: really looks. I'll I feel like they made a lot
- 22:37Speaker 2: of strides on the defensive end in terms of people
- 22:40Speaker 2: they brought in. I am terrified to gamble on Kyler Murray,
- 22:45Speaker 2: but I'll go Arizona.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Okay, all right, I like the pick. I like. I
- 22:49Speaker 1: think it's bold for sure.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, I like, I don't want to pick all
- 22:53Speaker 2: the same teams. Yeah.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Well, look, like I mentioned before, Detroit Lions I think
- 22:58Speaker 1: are going to make the wild card spot. I do
- 23:00Speaker 1: think the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are gonna get Bucky Irving.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I think is one of the one of the is
- 23:06Speaker 1: gonna be one of the premier running backs in this league.
- 23:09Speaker 1: They're going to rely on him heavily, especially within the
- 23:12Speaker 1: red zone. And I I think Tampa Bay is gonna
- 23:16Speaker 1: it's gonna be really close that Tampa Bay Atlanta Falcons
- 23:19Speaker 1: uh uh rivalry that they have and who is gonna
- 23:22Speaker 1: win that division? Again, I think the Atlanta Falcons are
- 23:24Speaker 1: gonna win, but Tampa Bay gets in with a wild card.
- 23:27Speaker 1: And believe it or not, Len, I think the Chicago
- 23:29Speaker 1: Bears are going to be getting into the wild card spot.
- 23:33Speaker 2: A lot of a lot of people are buying. And
- 23:35Speaker 2: I know they got you know, Ben Johnson from the Lions,
- 23:38Speaker 2: and I know it's another year in Call Williams development.
- 23:42Speaker 2: And yeah, I mean there's there's a lot to like there. So, yeah,
- 23:45Speaker 2: that'll be a very interesting division, I think, from top
- 23:48Speaker 2: to bottom of the North absolutely.
- 23:50Speaker 1: All right, well let's go to the AFC wildcard spots.
- 23:53Speaker 1: What do you think that's gonna look like? Well, right
- 23:58Speaker 1: off the bat, I'm gonna go charge. Okay, so that
- 24:02Speaker 1: the Chargers are gonna get there. All right.
- 24:04Speaker 2: There's a part of me that wants to say the
- 24:06Speaker 2: Bengals just because offensively they're just so loaded, but then
- 24:10Speaker 2: defensively they're just so not.
- 24:12Speaker 1: And they're not gonna get anywhere in the playoffs without defense.
- 24:15Speaker 2: It's it's yeah, I mean, I'm just talking about getting there. Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 2: So I'm gonna go Chargers. I'm gonna go, uh Broncos
- 24:27Speaker 2: because I like what's going on there with Boonex. By default,
- 24:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna go Bengals. But I don't love that pick.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Okay, all right, Uh Eric is going with Cincy, just
- 24:43Speaker 1: like you picking Cincony, Cincony, Cincy, Cinsony. Yeah, he's going
- 24:47Speaker 1: with the Houston Texans as well, and the Denver Broncos.
- 24:51Speaker 1: I gotta tell you right now, I said I was
- 24:53Speaker 1: gonna we may be hearing more about the Texans. Texans
- 24:56Speaker 1: I think are absolutely gonna be there, Denver Broncos absolutely
- 24:59Speaker 1: gonna be there. And I also actually think the Las
- 25:03Speaker 1: Vegas Raiders. I think when one of our recent opposition
- 25:07Speaker 1: Territory pods where we're talking about the Raiders, I think
- 25:11Speaker 1: we could see some Chip Kelly resurgence this coming season.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Since he is their offensive coordinator, and with Pete Carroll there,
- 25:19Speaker 1: I think Las Vegas is gonna surprise some folks this year.
- 25:23Speaker 1: They actually have a quarterback with Gino Smith now good
- 25:25Speaker 1: relationship with Pete Carroll. It's gonna be It's gonna be
- 25:28Speaker 1: really interesting to uh to watch for sure. What do
- 25:31Speaker 1: you think, Lenn, the NFC Championship Game is gonna be
- 25:35Speaker 1: When it's all said and done.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I'm gonna go Green Bay Detroit. I'm gonna go all
- 25:39Speaker 2: NFC North matches.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Oh, green Bay Detroit Eagles do not make it back
- 25:44Speaker 1: to the super Bowl. According to l.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Hard to do it is. I look, I hope I'm wrong.
- 25:50Speaker 2: I super hope I'm wrong.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Yes, you know I'm gonna be. I'm gonna be going
- 25:56Speaker 1: Eagles Green Bay Packers for my NFC Championship game. In fact,
- 26:02Speaker 1: Eric has the Eric has the same thing Eagles Green
- 26:05Speaker 1: Bay as well. Just reading here on his text to
- 26:08Speaker 1: US and AFC Championship Game, what are your thoughts and
- 26:12Speaker 1: predictions there?
- 26:13Speaker 2: I just I don't want to be picking chalk all
- 26:16Speaker 2: the time, So I'm gonna go Bill's ravens.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Okay ooh, I like it. I like that Eric has
- 26:24Speaker 1: Bills Kansas City again. Another another rematch, you know with
- 26:29Speaker 1: these two teams. But for me, I like how you
- 26:31Speaker 1: went with the Ravens. I'm gonna be going different too here.
- 26:34Speaker 1: I'm actually gonna be going Bills Broncos. I think the
- 26:37Speaker 1: Denver Broncos are going to be a really, really good.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Team this season. I can say it.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely, absolutely, one of the best defenses in the league.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Bo Nicks, I think is going to be going absolutely
- 26:48Speaker 1: crazy this year. He's got He's got some really good
- 26:51Speaker 1: wide receivers up there. I think they're gonna have a
- 26:53Speaker 1: one to two punch with their running back situation R. J.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Harvey and JK. Dobbins as well as he is now healthy.
- 27:00Speaker 1: So that's what I'm thinking for the AFC Championship Game.
- 27:03Speaker 1: What do you think the Super Bowl is gonna be.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Buddy, I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna call this the Sophie's
- 27:09Speaker 2: Choice Bowl. I'm gonna say Bill's Lions to two franchised,
- 27:14Speaker 2: the two franchises that like if they were playing anybody
- 27:17Speaker 2: other than your team, you would be rooting for them
- 27:20Speaker 2: in the Super Bowl, like like just two like America's
- 27:24Speaker 2: team candidates playing each other and in an underdog super Bowl,
- 27:28Speaker 2: all right or right? Underdog city super Bowl?
- 27:31Speaker 1: Eric has in the Super Bowl Bills versus Green Bay.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Eric also thinks the Eagles are not getting back to
- 27:37Speaker 1: the super Bowl. Here, I'm actually gonna be going with
- 27:42Speaker 1: an Eagles Bill's super Bowl. There you go, Homer, buddy,
- 27:49Speaker 1: And who will be the super Bowl champion? Len? What
- 27:51Speaker 1: are your thoughts there?
- 27:52Speaker 2: Ah, I'm gonna say the Bills finally do it. They
- 27:57Speaker 2: find Buffalo, finally, God bless those people. They finally have
- 28:01Speaker 2: something to cheer about. You and Eric are on the
- 28:03Speaker 2: same page. You and Eric are absolutely on the same page. Well,
- 28:06Speaker 2: I know why Eric's picking Buffalo.
- 28:07Speaker 1: I mean, his daughter's going to the University of Buffalo. Now,
- 28:10Speaker 1: he's just up there. They are the city.
- 28:12Speaker 2: They are officially his AFC team. I don't think there's
- 28:15Speaker 2: any doubt.
- 28:16Speaker 1: If the Eagles and Bills get into the super Bowl.
- 28:18Speaker 1: I really do believe, Lenn, that the Eagles are repeating
- 28:22Speaker 1: you better of course, are repeating you are the ultimate Homer.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Well, I mean, be ready to wear that black hat,
- 28:31Speaker 2: because if they play the Bills, nobody outside of the
- 28:35Speaker 2: Greater Philadelphia area is gonna be rooting.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Absolutely that is absolutely true, absolutely true. I love going
- 28:44Speaker 1: through these predictions with your body. This was this is fun,
- 28:47Speaker 1: this was great. We are going to take a break, folks,
- 28:49Speaker 1: but if you're new to watching us on YouTube, you

- 29:28Speaker 1: take a break and we're gonna be back in a
- 29:31Speaker 1: bit to dive into a ton of Eagles talk here
- 29:35Speaker 1: on our Eagles season preview. Stick with us, all right,
- 29:39Speaker 1: we are back and let's dive into this Eagles team.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Len want to dive into really quick and just let
- 29:47Speaker 1: everybody know what this fifty three man roster looks like
- 29:50Speaker 1: for the Philadelphia Eagles. Okay, I'm gonna run through the
- 29:53Speaker 1: offense first, then get into the defense, just so everybody's
- 29:56Speaker 1: on the same page. Here at quarterback, we've got Jalen Hurts,
- 30:00Speaker 1: Anna McKee, Sam Howell running back, Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley,
- 30:04Speaker 1: and AJ Dillon. On the wide receiver standpoint, we have
- 30:09Speaker 1: Aj Brown, John Metchi, Davonte Smith, Darius Cooper, Johan Dotson,
- 30:15Speaker 1: and Johnny Wilson's on IR now at this point. For
- 30:18Speaker 1: the tight end position, Dallas Goddard, Grant cal Katara, and
- 30:22Speaker 1: Kylon Granson. Ben Van Simerin he's technically the fullback on
- 30:29Speaker 1: the team.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Here.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Offensive lineman Jordan Mailatta, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen
- 30:35Speaker 1: at right guard, Lane Johnson one of the best in
- 30:38Speaker 1: the league at right tackle. Also Cameron Williams, Matt Pryor,
- 30:41Speaker 1: Brett Toth, Kenyon Green, Fred Johnson, Drew Kendall, and Willie Limpkins.
- 30:47Speaker 1: On IR. Miles Hinton is also on IR. Let's go
- 30:51Speaker 1: over to the defense here, I'm gonna run through the starters,
- 30:54Speaker 1: Maro Ojomo, Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Junior. We've
- 30:59Speaker 1: got in the line backers room here Zach Bond, Jeremiah
- 31:03Speaker 1: Trotter Junior, Jaylex Hunt, and we also have got in
- 31:06Speaker 1: the secondary Quinon Mitchell, read Blank and Ship, Sidney Brown,
- 31:10Speaker 1: adri Jackson, Cooper Dejen and now to round out this defense,
- 31:15Speaker 1: Mac Williams, Keeley Ringo, Andrew mccouba, Jacorey and Bennett, Joshua
- 31:20Speaker 1: Ooja and also Jihad Campbell, smel Mondan and Aziz Ojelari
- 31:26Speaker 1: as well Gabe hall Ty Robinson Byron Young. And we've
- 31:31Speaker 1: also got Nikobe Dean who is going to be out
- 31:34Speaker 1: for a bit more nursing his injury. Lewis is it
- 31:38Speaker 1: sign scene C I n E. I'm not even honestly,
- 31:43Speaker 1: I'm not even sure he's on I R at this point.
- 31:45Speaker 1: And yeah, ogbo U can. Of course I'm gonna screw
- 31:50Speaker 1: his name, you know, double Oh baby.
- 31:54Speaker 2: I know it's gonna happen. And I was just waiting
- 31:57Speaker 2: for it, and man, that makes me happy.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Boy, I saved it for And guess what, oh boy,
- 32:03Speaker 1: I just.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Have this picture of you in a mirror, like twenty
- 32:06Speaker 2: minutes before the show starting, just practicing your practicing and
- 32:10Speaker 2: then just as soon as you get up to it,
- 32:12Speaker 2: just falling down a flight of stairs.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Ogbo og bo ogbo og bow in the mirror, Yes,
- 32:20Speaker 1: real quick. Special teams folks, Jake Elliot, Braden Man, Cooper
- 32:25Speaker 1: dejen Is punt returner. I already mentioned him, but Charlie
- 32:30Speaker 1: Hewlett is going to be the long snapper as well.
- 32:33Speaker 1: So that's our fifty three man roster heading into this season.
- 32:37Speaker 1: But Len, it's you know, there are concerns, certainly with
- 32:41Speaker 1: this team. There are definitely concerns with the Philadelphia Eagles
- 32:45Speaker 1: heading into this season. Mainly we've been talking about a
- 32:48Speaker 1: lot on the show. The secondary. It is one of
- 32:50Speaker 1: the youngest in the entire NFL. Let's really dive into
- 32:55Speaker 1: the concerns on offense and defense. I guess we'll start
- 32:57Speaker 1: off with the defense. I mean, you're concerned about the
- 32:59Speaker 1: secondary well at this point, right, yeah.
- 33:01Speaker 2: And I'm sure anybody that follows this this team with
- 33:07Speaker 2: any kind of like, you know, just more than a passing,
- 33:10Speaker 2: you know, interest, knows that there's you know, that whole
- 33:14Speaker 2: other side of the outside corner outside of on the
- 33:18Speaker 2: other side of Quinn on Mitchell is scary and not
- 33:21Speaker 2: in a good way. So yeah, I don't know. I
- 33:25Speaker 2: think teams are going to be able to throw on them.
- 33:27Speaker 2: It's going to be on Jackson and Bennett to really
- 33:31Speaker 2: show that. Show teams, hey, you can't throw on me. Yeah,
- 33:35Speaker 2: because okay, you moved the gene over there to the outside,
- 33:39Speaker 2: then what happened on the nickel? Like, so you know,
- 33:42Speaker 2: you pick your poison. You got to have an opening
- 33:45Speaker 2: somewhere there. And I have a feeling that teams are
- 33:48Speaker 2: going to game plan for that. And when when you know,
- 33:52Speaker 2: they're going to see where those guys are, where where
- 33:55Speaker 2: Mitchell and the Gene are, and they're going to go
- 33:57Speaker 2: away from them. So Vic Fangio is gonna have to
- 34:00Speaker 2: scheme for that, and it'll be interesting to see what
- 34:02Speaker 2: he does there.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Absolutely, and and look, my hope, all of our hope
- 34:06Speaker 1: is that one of these cornerbacks really start to develop
- 34:09Speaker 1: this year. Whether it's Jae Coryan Bennett or you know,
- 34:12Speaker 1: whether it is Keeley Ringo. It could potentially happen, even
- 34:15Speaker 1: though he's really fallen out of grace. But I just
- 34:19Speaker 1: I just don't think of Dori Jackson, is it. I Mean,
- 34:21Speaker 1: I've seen him in this league way too many times,
- 34:23Speaker 1: especially when he's on the New York Giants, just getting
- 34:26Speaker 1: getting getting overtaken, you know. Anyway, it's that's definitely a concern.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Yeah. And also defensively, just want to get your get
- 34:36Speaker 2: your opinion on this. The edge rushers, Nolan Smith, Jelex Hunt. Yeah,
- 34:43Speaker 2: I mean, they're young, they're mean. I know they've they've
- 34:46Speaker 2: they've you know, have flashed here and there. But are
- 34:49Speaker 2: you sold on them?
- 34:51Speaker 1: No, I'm not. This goes back to.
- 34:54Speaker 2: The interior of the defensive line. I'm I'm solid on that.
- 34:57Speaker 2: But the edge rushers, I just I I gotta see it.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, Look, and this is a this is a
- 35:04Speaker 1: league too where you got a lot of mobile quarterbacks.
- 35:06Speaker 1: You got a lot of fast quarterbacks who are getting
- 35:08Speaker 1: outside of the pocket and able to make plays. You know,
- 35:11Speaker 1: if Nolan Smith is able to continue what he did
- 35:14Speaker 1: throughout the postseason last year, I'm feeling a little bit better.
- 35:17Speaker 1: But you don't lose a veteran presence like this team
- 35:20Speaker 1: did during the offseason and you're just able to pick
- 35:23Speaker 1: things back up. It doesn't necessarily work like that. It's
- 35:26Speaker 1: another major concern for me too. I'm glad you brought
- 35:28Speaker 1: it up, so all right, Well, moving over to concerns
- 35:33Speaker 1: about the offense. Len For me, there's two concerns I have.
- 35:38Speaker 1: If Dallas Goddard goes down. Yes, last year it happened,
- 35:41Speaker 1: Grant Calcata stepped up and he was okay. He was
- 35:44Speaker 1: an okay tight end, But this team wasn't the same
- 35:47Speaker 1: without Dallas Goddard. Dallas Goddard is what I mean. Look,
- 35:50Speaker 1: Saquon Barkley is one of the reasons why this team
- 35:53Speaker 1: super Bowl champions, AJ Brown, Jalen Hurts, Davonte Smith, but
- 35:58Speaker 1: Dallas Goddard is all someone has been a key component
- 36:02Speaker 1: to this team. I really want them to stay healthy
- 36:04Speaker 1: for all seventeen games. Probably not gonna happen, But my
- 36:07Speaker 1: concern is the depth at tight end. And it's also
- 36:10Speaker 1: another concern I have is also Landon Dickerson, whether it's
- 36:14Speaker 1: his back injury, the knee injury that he has been
- 36:16Speaker 1: nursing during the course of camp. Landon Dickerson goes down,
- 36:19Speaker 1: that could be a real situation here for the offensive
- 36:22Speaker 1: line and how this offense performs consequently.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and I also have two concerns offensively, and you
- 36:31Speaker 2: just mentioned one of them, Landon Dickerson. We don't know
- 36:34Speaker 2: how serious that injury is. And I feel like maybe
- 36:37Speaker 2: his Eagles fans were kind of maybe a little bit
- 36:41Speaker 2: spoiled and we're just ready to go, Oh Staltland University,
- 36:44Speaker 2: next man up, and you know, just assume that whoever
- 36:47Speaker 2: they plug in there is, they're just gonna be fine.
- 36:51Speaker 2: And maybe that'll happen. I don't know, But do you
- 36:55Speaker 2: really wanna do you really want to bank on that
- 36:58Speaker 2: if you don't have to? And Dickerson's just he's such
- 37:01Speaker 2: a damn good player, yeah, and just one of my
- 37:05Speaker 2: favorites on this team.
- 37:07Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean, I don't know if Kenyon Green
- 37:09Speaker 1: is it. You know, I don't know if he's going
- 37:10Speaker 1: to be able to fill those shoes. He won't. I mean,
- 37:12Speaker 1: he won't be able to fill those shoes. So how
- 37:14Speaker 1: then does Kevin Patulo go about scheming and and the
- 37:19Speaker 1: play calling If Lindon Dickerson's not out, there could be
- 37:22Speaker 1: a real big issue. I mean, the medical staff is
- 37:24Speaker 1: going to have to be spot on this year with
- 37:27Speaker 1: Landon Dickerson. Yeah, absolutely.
- 37:30Speaker 2: And then the other concern I have, and it's you know,
- 37:33Speaker 2: maybe I'm just you know, being fearful for no reason,
- 37:39Speaker 2: but they they put some Miles on Saquan last year.
- 37:43Speaker 2: I'm not saying he's old. I'm not saying, you know,
- 37:45Speaker 2: he still you know, seems as you know, like he's
- 37:48Speaker 2: going to be as explosive as ever. But it just
- 37:50Speaker 2: feel like they leaned awful heavy on him last year
- 37:54Speaker 2: and are they gonna overdo it?
- 37:58Speaker 1: Makes sense? Makes sense though.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Yeah, And I your your tight end thing is totally
- 38:03Speaker 2: valid as well, you know, absolutely, but yeah, just yeah,
- 38:06Speaker 2: that kind of worries me a little bit.
- 38:08Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, you're concerned with Saquon valid and
- 38:11Speaker 1: I know I'm gonna get into more of a discussion
- 38:14Speaker 1: about Saquon and that expectation of what he did last year,
- 38:18Speaker 1: could he do it again this year? With blg in
- 38:21Speaker 1: just a little bit, Len, I'm actually not concerned about it.
- 38:24Speaker 1: I honestly, I'm not. I think I hope you're right, guy. Yeah,
- 38:28Speaker 1: I just believe that when you see that greatness, it's
- 38:32Speaker 1: not going to drop.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Off too much.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I really don't because of what is in front of him. Again,
- 38:38Speaker 1: going back to Landon Dickerson, that needs that guy needs
- 38:41Speaker 1: to be in place though for it to happen. In
- 38:43Speaker 1: my opinion, he is such a key to that left
- 38:46Speaker 1: side of the field. And uh, I don't know, but
- 38:51Speaker 1: I do actually do not share that same concern with
- 38:55Speaker 1: I think he's gonna kill another two thousand, two thousand
- 38:58Speaker 1: yard season.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Here we go. You are out of your mind that,
- 39:02Speaker 2: like seriously, and there's gonna be people that like just
- 39:04Speaker 2: assume that's gonna and just like it's like winning the
- 39:07Speaker 2: lottery for a million dollars and then the next day
- 39:09Speaker 2: going out and buying another ticket for another million dollars.
- 39:12Speaker 2: It's just like, oh, I just win it again. Just like, Okay,
- 39:17Speaker 2: I mean I do I think he can get fifteen
- 39:20Speaker 2: hundred yards this year? Yeah? I do, And that would
- 39:23Speaker 2: be a perfectly damn good season. Yeah. But yeah, I
- 39:26Speaker 2: just feel like and we I think we've talked about
- 39:29Speaker 2: this at some point on the show where it's like, oh,
- 39:31Speaker 2: he only rushed for fourteen fifteen hundred yards this year.
- 39:34Speaker 2: I wonder what's wrong with him? Like, yeah, is that?
- 39:36Speaker 2: Am I going to hear that sentence this year?
- 39:38Speaker 1: So that'll be interesting for sure. All Right, Well, let's
- 39:41Speaker 1: move on to you know what we're most excited about
- 39:44Speaker 1: with the offense and defense. I mean we're kind of
- 39:46Speaker 1: I mean, this is kind of obvious, I think. I mean,
- 39:49Speaker 1: I'm excited again to see Saquon I'm excited to see
- 39:52Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts maybe take some steps forward in terms of
- 39:56Speaker 1: over the field or over the middle of the field,
- 39:58Speaker 1: passing those inner immediate routes that year after year we're saying, Okay,
- 40:02Speaker 1: we want to see this from him. I'm really excited
- 40:05Speaker 1: about that. From an offensive perspective, what are you excited about?
- 40:09Speaker 2: I am too. I am I like, I don't know
- 40:13Speaker 2: if he thinks about stuff like this, because I don't
- 40:15Speaker 2: know if he genuinely cares, But is there a part
- 40:18Speaker 2: of him that's been like, Okay, I've been in the
- 40:22Speaker 2: league a couple of years. I've been improving every year
- 40:25Speaker 2: I won a Super Bowl. I was the goddamn Super
- 40:28Speaker 2: Bowl Envy. What why am I still like the ninth
- 40:32Speaker 2: best quarterback in the league according to you people? Right?
- 40:35Speaker 2: And again, he doesn't seem like the kind of guy
- 40:38Speaker 2: that thinks about stuff like that or yeah yeah, But
- 40:42Speaker 2: it would be interesting to see if he has a
- 40:45Speaker 2: moment in this year where he's like, yeah, ninth best,
- 40:48Speaker 2: huh yeah, like does something great and then you know,
- 40:51Speaker 2: kind of says something to that effect. Again, I don't
- 40:53Speaker 2: see it happening, But I'm looking forward to seeing his growth,
- 40:57Speaker 2: his continued growth. I mean, I think the world of
- 41:00Speaker 2: him as a leader. I just I mean, man, you
- 41:03Speaker 2: want to talk about a guy that I just think
- 41:04Speaker 2: gets it and I just have no concerns about as
- 41:08Speaker 2: a person whatsoever. I mean, Jalen Hurts is more than
- 41:13Speaker 2: anybody could ever ask for. Yeah, So I mean, if
- 41:16Speaker 2: the if the guy on the field can't get anywhere
- 41:18Speaker 2: close to the leader and the guy off the field, man,
- 41:22Speaker 2: you're gonna have something special.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Absolutely, let's move over the defense. What we're most excited
- 41:27Speaker 1: for over there. I got to tell you from my standpoint,
- 41:30Speaker 1: the dominance once again from a linebacker corps is what
- 41:33Speaker 1: I am really looking forward to seeing how these guys grow.
- 41:37Speaker 1: I don't think Zach Bond is going to be taking
- 41:38Speaker 1: any steps back, you know. I think Jehad Campbell is
- 41:42Speaker 1: going to be a forced guy.
- 41:44Speaker 2: I'm really looking forward to seeing him because man, it
- 41:48Speaker 2: just seems like just from the moment they drafted him,
- 41:50Speaker 2: people are like Jesus Christ, they did it again. And
- 41:54Speaker 2: and just from everything you've heard about him in camp,
- 41:56Speaker 2: you're just like, oh man, they they might really have
- 42:00Speaker 2: something here, and if you can have him and Bond
- 42:04Speaker 2: at that linebacker position just causing havoc. Yeah, I just
- 42:08Speaker 2: think it's gonna be just so fun to watch.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Yeah, And I'm also excited for the refs to hopefully
- 42:14Speaker 1: be throwing more flags when Jalen Carter is being held
- 42:17Speaker 1: on every single play. Look, some of these Eagles games
- 42:19Speaker 1: might go five hours because he's being held on every
- 42:22Speaker 1: play and it's not getting it's not getting called. So
- 42:26Speaker 1: I'm excited for more holding calls against Jayalen Card not
- 42:30Speaker 1: against but you know, in favor of the Eagle, I.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Don't want to see many of Yes, exactly exactly, I
- 42:36Speaker 2: get what you're saying.
- 42:37Speaker 1: All right, Well, let's move on now to our last
- 42:39Speaker 1: segment here, where we're gonna get into even more Eagles predictions.
- 42:44Speaker 1: But we're gonna talk about the breakout guy, rising star guy,
- 42:47Speaker 1: who needs to rebound, who defensive and offensive players of
- 42:51Speaker 1: the year will be in the Eagles regular season record.
- 42:54Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about those predictions here. Then let's get
- 42:58Speaker 1: into who you who you think is going to be
- 43:00Speaker 1: the breakout guy this year. And I'm going to also
- 43:04Speaker 1: read off some of Eric's uh uh thoughts on this
- 43:08Speaker 1: as well, who do you who do you think is
- 43:09Speaker 1: going to be the breakout guy?
- 43:12Speaker 2: So there's a there's a part of me that wouldn't
- 43:15Speaker 2: be surprised if all three of us have the same
- 43:17Speaker 2: breakout guy. And I am basing mine off of leg
- 43:21Speaker 2: Just a thing that this question was posed to the
- 43:23Speaker 2: Eagles players and and the and my pick is I'm
- 43:28Speaker 2: going to go with what they say, and so many
- 43:31Speaker 2: of them picked Moro a Jomo and so I'm that's
- 43:36Speaker 2: my They're the ones seeing him in camp every day.
- 43:38Speaker 2: So if they're seeing something camp, then I'm going to
- 43:41Speaker 2: pay attention to it, and I'm looking forward to seeing
- 43:44Speaker 2: him play and seeing, you know, what he can do.
- 43:46Speaker 2: And that's my guy.
- 43:48Speaker 1: That's that's who my guy is as well. Believe it
- 43:50Speaker 1: or not, Eric pick Nolan Smith. So Eric believes that
- 43:53Speaker 1: this pass rush is not going to drop off too
- 43:56Speaker 1: too much. Obviously with that, yes, but Moro Ojomo, you know,
- 44:00Speaker 1: I think he's going to really not even just replace
- 44:05Speaker 1: what we saw with Milton Williams last year. I think
- 44:07Speaker 1: we're gonna see more productivity from that particular position because
- 44:11Speaker 1: of Moro Ojomo and just his his that motor. I
- 44:16Speaker 1: think he's gonna be getting into the backfield. I think
- 44:18Speaker 1: he's gonna make quarterbacks just get out of the pocket quickly.
- 44:22Speaker 1: So I'm with you with Moro Jomo. What about the
- 44:27Speaker 1: the rising star player on this Eagles team? Who do
- 44:30Speaker 1: you Who do you think that's gonna be? So, I mean,
- 44:33Speaker 1: I want to say the obvious, which is Jihad Campbell.
- 44:38Speaker 1: I'm going to go away from that a little bit,
- 44:41Speaker 1: and my pick for this particular thing and the next
- 44:46Speaker 1: thing are kind of related.
- 44:47Speaker 2: I'm gonna go Darius Cooper based on Oh, he's another
- 44:50Speaker 2: guy that everybody in camp has been like, Holy hell. Yeah.
- 44:54Speaker 2: So that's where I'm gonna go.
- 44:56Speaker 1: You know, you know who I'm actually gonna pick because
- 44:59Speaker 1: he's been on this team for a while. People actually
- 45:02Speaker 1: think that he he is a veteran at this point.
- 45:06Speaker 1: He gets some crap every now and then, but he
- 45:09Speaker 1: has come up big in big time spots, and I
- 45:11Speaker 1: think he understands the game from a defensive standpoint in
- 45:14Speaker 1: terms of understanding and knowing the secondary. Vic Fangio loves him,
- 45:18Speaker 1: and that's actually read blank and Ship. I think read
- 45:21Speaker 1: Blank and Ship as the rising star as one of
- 45:24Speaker 1: the better safeties in the league, in the entire league.
- 45:27Speaker 1: We're talking like up there with Buddha Baker and other
- 45:32Speaker 1: some of those other stars. I think Read Blankenship is
- 45:34Speaker 1: definitely going to be the rising star.
- 45:36Speaker 2: So okay, all.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Right, let's move over now to the guy who needs
- 45:41Speaker 1: to rebound.
- 45:42Speaker 2: Well, who did Eric say for rising stars? O?
- 45:45Speaker 1: Rising star? I'm sorry? Yeah, Quinon Mitchell actually okay, which
- 45:48Speaker 1: I think, which I think is interesting because like I
- 45:51Speaker 1: think he's already there as a star.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Ye, what he did, I would tend to agree. But hey,
- 45:55Speaker 2: if if there's another level there to unlock, then I'm.
- 45:58Speaker 1: All for it, absolutely right. And the guy who needs
- 46:02Speaker 1: to rebound, what are your thoughts here, Well, I.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Told you they were related. I'm going to say, Johan Dotson.
- 46:07Speaker 2: I'm going to say that that wide receiver three position
- 46:11Speaker 2: is if he doesn't come out and perform, I think
- 46:15Speaker 2: he's in jeopardy of losing it.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Yeah. Eric has Nakobe Dean, which I think is a
- 46:22Speaker 1: very interesting pick.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Well, I mean that's just like from the injury stealthy,
- 46:27Speaker 2: I mean, he just needs to not get hurt. Yes, yeah, yeah.
- 46:30Speaker 1: For me, it's actually going to be the start. The
- 46:33Speaker 1: guy who's going to be starting cornerback across from Quinnon Mitchell,
- 46:38Speaker 1: and that's a Dori Jackson. Yes, he's not been on
- 46:40Speaker 1: this team, but man, Dori Jackson needs to have a
- 46:43Speaker 1: rebound year if this secondary is going to be productive.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Dory Jackson definitely is my pick because man, he just
- 46:52Speaker 1: I am so freaking concerned when you've got.
- 46:54Speaker 2: Needs to have a breakthrough year. Has he ever been not?
- 46:57Speaker 2: Has he ever been like good to begin with?
- 46:59Speaker 1: Yeah, he's struggled every now and then. He's played some
- 47:02Speaker 1: decent games when he was with the Titans many years ago.
- 47:06Speaker 1: But really, I am so freaking concerned about having Terry
- 47:11Speaker 1: McLaurin in the division. Molik neighbors ceede Lamb. These guys
- 47:15Speaker 1: who when they're in motion, they're gonna be motioning out
- 47:17Speaker 1: to have that cornerback two covering them.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Yeah, or look at like in look no further than
- 47:23Speaker 2: tomorrow night's game against Dallas, I mean Pickens, I mean
- 47:28Speaker 2: you know, if you're doing the whole fantasy thing, I'd
- 47:31Speaker 2: be looking at him because you know they're gonna have
- 47:33Speaker 2: Mitchell on Lamb. Yep, So Pickens might run wild and
- 47:37Speaker 2: have a good game against the Eagles.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Absolutely, all right, Well, let's see. Wait, did I do
- 47:43Speaker 1: my needs to be rebound? You said, well, you said
- 47:46Speaker 1: Jackson didn't. Oh I did say jet Jesus man, I'm
- 47:49Speaker 1: losing my mind here. All right, you got three more
- 47:52Speaker 1: predictions folks here Eagles Defensive player of the Year and
- 47:55Speaker 1: Offensive player of the Year. For Eric, it's a Jalen
- 48:00Speaker 1: Harder for defensive player of the year. Who's your defensive player.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Of the year?
- 48:03Speaker 1: Oh, man, I mean I'm going with Jalen Carter myself.
- 48:07Speaker 1: That's who my pick was.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't want to kind of go with everybody else,
- 48:12Speaker 2: but man, he's he's such a force. Dude.
- 48:15Speaker 1: He's so he's so yeah.
- 48:18Speaker 2: I and and he's he's gonna be one of those
- 48:20Speaker 2: players that, like, even if he doesn't give the stats
- 48:22Speaker 2: because he's getting double teamed and triple teamed, he's just
- 48:25Speaker 2: gonna take up so much that you can't help but
- 48:28Speaker 2: notice it it's happening. Yeah, And I think people around
- 48:31Speaker 2: the league, even if he's not pulling up numbers, people
- 48:33Speaker 2: are going to recognize that and be like, yeah, but
- 48:35Speaker 2: look at all he's right, he's occupying for the for
- 48:38Speaker 2: the rest of the Eagles defense. So yeah, it's hard
- 48:41Speaker 2: not to say Jalen Carter.
- 48:43Speaker 1: All right, offensive player of the year. I'm going with
- 48:45Speaker 1: Saquon Barkley based on what I said earlier. I know
- 48:48Speaker 1: you have your concerns and not I shouldn't say concerns,
- 48:51Speaker 1: but that whole, that whole idea of him being able
- 48:54Speaker 1: to get two thousand yards again, and look, do I
- 48:57Speaker 1: think it could happen. I actually really do think it
- 48:59Speaker 1: could happen again. And I know him crazy. You said
- 49:02Speaker 1: I was crazy for it. I'm going to remain crazy
- 49:04Speaker 1: here with that prediction. But I think Saquon Barkley is
- 49:07Speaker 1: going to be the offensive player of the Year for
- 49:09Speaker 1: this team. Who do you think it's going to be?
- 49:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I would like to go in a
- 49:14Speaker 2: different direction, just to be contrarian, but I mean the
- 49:17Speaker 2: Eagles have really shown last year that they operate best
- 49:22Speaker 2: as a run first team. Yeah, and it I mean,
- 49:26Speaker 2: unless you know, my worst fear has come to reality
- 49:29Speaker 2: and he gets hurt, everything goes through him, So I mean,
- 49:34Speaker 2: and not just as a runner, but I mean, you
- 49:37Speaker 2: know he can do stuff out of the passing game too,
- 49:39Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean, I I mean, unless they move
- 49:43Speaker 2: away from their offensive philosophy, which I think would be
- 49:46Speaker 2: silly to do. How can it not be Saquon?
- 49:48Speaker 1: Okay, Eric has Jalen Hurts actually as as the offensive
- 49:53Speaker 1: player of the year.
- 49:55Speaker 2: I'd be cool with that. I mean, you know, it's
- 49:58Speaker 2: going with the quarterbacks never a bad op.
- 50:00Speaker 1: That means he's growing. If Eric's correct, that means he's growing.
- 50:03Speaker 1: And Jalen Hurts is also his MVP of this team
- 50:07Speaker 1: as well. But I'm going with Saquon Barkley again, That's
- 50:10Speaker 1: what I'm going for with MVP of the team. Who
- 50:12Speaker 1: are you going for?
- 50:13Speaker 2: If the defense holds up and all that happens, and
- 50:18Speaker 2: you know, the guy does what we all think he's
- 50:21Speaker 2: gonna do, I'm gonna I'm gonna go Jalen Carter just
- 50:23Speaker 2: to be different.
- 50:23Speaker 1: All right, Very good. I think that's very fair, very fair.
- 50:27Speaker 1: And then to close us out here, buddy, before we
- 50:30Speaker 1: go to our break and before we get to what
- 50:32Speaker 1: we're thrown down on the table at Brandon le gouton
- 50:34Speaker 1: that great discussion the Eagles regular season record, what do
- 50:38Speaker 1: you think the regular season record is gonna be? Ill,
- 50:40Speaker 1: let's you say just for a second, Eric is saying
- 50:42Speaker 1: twelve and five. I am at thirteen and four. That's
- 50:47Speaker 1: what I think is gonna.
- 50:48Speaker 2: Be based on some of your predictions so far. I
- 50:50Speaker 2: can't believe you're not at seventeen and now.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Yes, you know what, they might be that next Dolphin
- 50:58Speaker 1: team that just I was undefeated, They might they might
- 51:02Speaker 1: do it. Lynn, this is a powerhouse team.
- 51:05Speaker 2: You're gonna give me a goddamn aneurism. I mean, the
- 51:12Speaker 2: schedule is, you know, they've got some some tough games,
- 51:16Speaker 2: got very tough games. You're at Kansas City, You're at Buffalo,
- 51:20Speaker 2: You're at LA facing the Chargers team that I think
- 51:23Speaker 2: is going to be a playoff team. Detroit's coming to Philly,
- 51:28Speaker 2: so they're I mean, that's a good team. You're at
- 51:30Speaker 2: Green Bay. I mean, this is a tough schedule. I'm
- 51:33Speaker 2: gonna go. I'm gonna go eleven and six.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Okay, all right, wow, all right.
- 51:39Speaker 2: Which again, I think his step I think is good
- 51:43Speaker 2: enough to still win this division because I do think
- 51:46Speaker 2: that I do think that Washington well, I do think
- 51:49Speaker 2: that they end up in second place. I think they
- 51:51Speaker 2: take a bit of a step back, just because I
- 51:53Speaker 2: feel like that just happens so often. The teams like
- 51:56Speaker 2: they they reach this level and they're like, oh man,
- 51:59Speaker 2: they're for greatness, and then yeah, something always seems to happen.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Something seems to happen. I just I think it's gonna
- 52:05Speaker 2: happen to Washington this year. So but I still think
- 52:09Speaker 2: eleven and six is healthy to win the NFC East.
- 52:13Speaker 1: God forbid, Jalen Hurts could go down with an ACL
- 52:16Speaker 1: injury and in the game against the Chiefs, and then
- 52:20Speaker 1: we we got either Tanner McKee or Sam Hallett quarterback
- 52:23Speaker 1: for the year. You know, And that's that's a situation.
- 52:26Speaker 2: Right, isn't he. I mean it seems to be pretty
- 52:30Speaker 2: happy with him.
- 52:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, yes, it's still not terrible, but it's
- 52:34Speaker 1: not yet hurt exactly exactly. All right, buddy, gonna let
- 52:38Speaker 1: you go. But first and foremost, folks, if you're watching
- 52:41Speaker 1: on YouTube, like and subscribe to us, we greatly greatly
- 52:44Speaker 1: appreciate that spread the word about the Philadelphia Sports Table
- 52:47Speaker 1: podcast show on YouTube, as we've been on that platform.
- 52:50Speaker 1: On this platform. If you're watching us since April, and
- 52:53Speaker 1: if you're listening to us long time listeners, thanks so
- 52:55Speaker 1: much for sticking around again. We are going to be
- 52:57Speaker 1: doing our Eagles postgame podcast show after every game this season,
- 53:01Speaker 1: whether it's Lenn or Eric or some of our good
- 53:04Speaker 1: friends that have joined us over the years as well,
- 53:06Speaker 1: we're gonna have that content coming your way. Any final words, buddy,
- 53:09Speaker 1: before I let you go, before we get to BLG
- 53:12Speaker 1: go birds. All right, perfect, We're gonna take a break.
- 53:15Speaker 1: We'll be back in just a bit, folks, and now
- 53:19Speaker 1: on the same and joining us to continue discussing this
- 53:25Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles team and what we may be seeing this
- 53:29Speaker 1: season from the defending Super Bowl champions we have from
- 53:32Speaker 1: Bleedinggreen Nation dot com. He's one of our favorites. He's
- 53:35Speaker 1: been coming on for years and years and years, the
- 53:37Speaker 1: one and only brandedly gout and BLG.
- 53:38Speaker 3: How you doing, buddy, I'm excited. Jeff the Eagles Cowboys
- 53:42Speaker 3: Week one. I've been calling for this for years. I've
- 53:44Speaker 3: been saying, how are we not getting this game in
- 53:47Speaker 3: a week one spot when you have all these games
- 53:49Speaker 3: between the Cowboys and Eagles where either Jalen Hurts is
- 53:52Speaker 3: injured or Dak Prescott is injured. Yep, And finally, after
- 53:55Speaker 3: twenty five years, it only take twenty five years we
- 53:57Speaker 3: get an Eagles Cowboys a Week one game.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Absolutely, it's it's going to be great. The banner is
- 54:01Speaker 1: going to be raised. I look, if you're listening to
- 54:04Speaker 1: the what I mean by banner Super Bowl banner, unless
- 54:06Speaker 1: you're you know, living under a rock and you're you're
- 54:08Speaker 1: going to get a chance to see that buddy right
- 54:10Speaker 1: from the press box. That is going to be incredible.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Do you remember those feels from back in like twenty
- 54:15Speaker 1: eighteen when it happened.
- 54:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I was so curious. I was like, what does
- 54:18Speaker 3: it look like? Because I didn't know what to expect.
- 54:21Speaker 3: I also didn't realize that they were going to be
- 54:23Speaker 3: going it's basically double the width of all the other
- 54:25Speaker 3: banners that they hang. Okayre in the rafts, yep, for
- 54:28Speaker 3: you know, conference wins, division wins, stuff like that. Didn't
- 54:31Speaker 3: expect that either.
- 54:32Speaker 2: This time.
- 54:33Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure from some of the things that leaked
- 54:35Speaker 3: it's going to be pretty similar to the twenty seventeen one.
- 54:38Speaker 3: But the fact that there's going to be two of
- 54:40Speaker 3: those hanging up there again is pretty unreal. Yes, if
- 54:43Speaker 3: we could go back in time to the beginning, you know,
- 54:45Speaker 3: the twenty seventeen season, I don't think we were expecting.
- 54:48Speaker 1: That exactly exactly, all right, Yeah, that was a magical
- 54:51Speaker 1: season for sure, given the injuries that year. We talk
- 54:53Speaker 1: about that forever. But we want to get into what
- 54:56Speaker 1: this upcoming Eagle season may look like. And I really
- 54:59Speaker 1: want to to start off the conversation with you here
- 55:02Speaker 1: is we're doing our Eagle season preview BLG. With you know,
- 55:06Speaker 1: the offense. I really want to talk about what we
- 55:08Speaker 1: are going to see and specifically with Jalen Hurts. Look,
- 55:11Speaker 1: we know what type of player he is. He was
- 55:13Speaker 1: the MVP of the Super Bowl last year. The discipline,
- 55:16Speaker 1: the work he puts in consistently week after week even
- 55:20Speaker 1: during the course of the off season, those stories are
- 55:23Speaker 1: out there. But the question that I have is can
- 55:27Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts actually continue to grow as a quarterback in
- 55:31Speaker 1: this league and within this Eagles organization? And what might
- 55:34Speaker 1: that actually look like as we're heading into this season again,
- 55:38Speaker 1: him coming off a Super Bowl where he was the MVP,
- 55:41Speaker 1: what does this look like? I mean, can he continue
- 55:44Speaker 1: to grow as a quarterback?
- 55:45Speaker 2: BLG? I think he can.
- 55:47Speaker 3: I mean he just turned twenty seven in August, so
- 55:50Speaker 3: it so he's like kind of entering his prime here. Yeah,
- 55:53Speaker 3: for your general average NFL player, obviously you know who
- 55:56Speaker 3: knows Tom Brady playing into his mid forties, you know,
- 55:59Speaker 3: right now, right for the normal player, I think, you know,
- 56:02Speaker 3: he's in a good spot now, entering his prime, not
- 56:04Speaker 3: only physically, but I think from a maturity standpoint too.
- 56:08Speaker 3: And obviously Jalen Hurts has always come off as extremely mature,
- 56:11Speaker 3: but it's different, you know, in terms of, like, you know,
- 56:13Speaker 3: having a serious attitude versus having life experience. And I
- 56:16Speaker 3: think that's a big thing to factor in here. All
- 56:18Speaker 3: the talk about is how Jalen Hurts is feeling more
- 56:20Speaker 3: confident than he has before, because I think he feels
- 56:23Speaker 3: extremely validated, as he should by winning a Super Bowl,
- 56:25Speaker 3: being Super Bowl MVP, and I think that can help
- 56:29Speaker 3: him a lot. Not that he lacked confidence before, but
- 56:32Speaker 3: this is like a new level and it's also a comfort.
- 56:34Speaker 3: It's something to kind of maybe fall back on when
- 56:37Speaker 3: you're doubting yourself or because anyone is naturally going to
- 56:39Speaker 3: do that at some point in time, whether they show
- 56:41Speaker 3: it or not. I think the big progression we see
- 56:44Speaker 3: from Jalen Hurts this year is going to be having
- 56:48Speaker 3: more of a role than he did last year in
- 56:50Speaker 3: the passing attack. Obviously, the Eagles tried to do that
- 56:53Speaker 3: early on in twenty twenty four it was not going
- 56:56Speaker 3: too well. There's a lot of turnovers. They pivoted away
- 56:58Speaker 3: from that that I think it's fair to say is
- 57:01Speaker 3: because they were obviously there's limitations there that they didn't
- 57:05Speaker 3: want to try to expose, and they're trying to hide
- 57:08Speaker 3: a little bit. At the same time, we saw when
- 57:09Speaker 3: Jaleen Hurts needed to pass, especially in the biggest games
- 57:12Speaker 3: of the season, he was so it's not as simple
- 57:14Speaker 3: as he can't do it at all. So probably going
- 57:16Speaker 3: to try to look this stright the balance of that
- 57:18Speaker 3: in theory a little bit more this year. Just the
- 57:21Speaker 3: fact that Saklin Barkley touched the ball so much last season, YEP.
- 57:24Speaker 3: I don't think it means they're going to go away
- 57:25Speaker 3: from that by any means, but just by virtue of
- 57:28Speaker 3: they're probably not going to be able to do that
- 57:30Speaker 3: to the same extent. They're also probably not going to
- 57:33Speaker 3: be in games where the script is always favorable. It's
- 57:36Speaker 3: a tougher schedule, they're going to have to pass the
- 57:37Speaker 3: ball wards naturally, and that onus is going to be
- 57:40Speaker 3: on Jailen Hurts to kind of really step up and
- 57:43Speaker 3: take ownership of the passing attack and improve in that regard.
- 57:47Speaker 1: Stepping up in terms of the intermediate routes is something
- 57:49Speaker 1: that I'm going to be looking at early on in
- 57:51Speaker 1: this season to see if he has grown in that
- 57:53Speaker 1: regard and especially over the middle. How many times have
- 57:55Speaker 1: we heard and how many times have we been talking
- 57:58Speaker 1: about those storylines? Is he going to be able to
- 58:00Speaker 1: over the middle? We know that he loves throwing outside
- 58:02Speaker 1: the hashes, he loves throwing towards the sidelines. That that
- 58:05Speaker 1: is what I'm going to be looking at. But BLG,
- 58:07Speaker 1: you mentioned one particular individual and Saquon Barkley, and you
- 58:12Speaker 1: know what we may see from him, and I wanted
- 58:13Speaker 1: to dive into that a little bit more. Of course,
- 58:16Speaker 1: he was named on the NFL network the you know,
- 58:18Speaker 1: the number one player in the league, rightfully so, and
- 58:22Speaker 1: you know I saw your tweet recently about how he
- 58:24Speaker 1: probably should have been named MVP of the league last season.
- 58:28Speaker 1: I totally agree, absolutely, But the question is, you know,
- 58:31Speaker 1: can he replicate what he actually did last season and
- 58:34Speaker 1: does he need to replicate what he did last season
- 58:37Speaker 1: for this Eagles offense to really have success to get
- 58:40Speaker 1: to the playoffs and possibly repeat here because of who
- 58:44Speaker 1: he was on the field, what are your thoughts here?
- 58:48Speaker 3: Obviously how the season ends, like the playoffs and everything
- 58:51Speaker 3: in the Super Bowl. You know that that can't be
- 58:53Speaker 3: factored into the MVP award that's voted on before that.
- 58:56Speaker 3: But I still think even before that, we should have
- 58:59Speaker 3: been able to say, hey, Sekwon Barkley is the main
- 59:02Speaker 3: character of the twenty twenty four NFL season. Yeah, and
- 59:06Speaker 3: MVP is a narrative award, and I feel like at
- 59:08Speaker 3: some level you should think about it as like, wow,
- 59:11Speaker 3: when we look back on twenty twenty four, let's say
- 59:13Speaker 3: ten years or whatever from now, like, what was really
- 59:16Speaker 3: the story of that season? It wasn't Josh Allen. Josh
- 59:18Speaker 3: Allen's an incredible player. I'm this is you know, no
- 59:20Speaker 3: shade to him. Obviously he is an MVP deserving kind
- 59:24Speaker 3: of talent. No one's arguing otherwise, But there was not
- 59:27Speaker 3: like his season. There was not the story of the
- 59:29Speaker 3: twenty twenty four NFL season. It should have been Saklon
- 59:31Speaker 3: Barkley spinning it forward to twenty twenty five. Here, maybe
- 59:36Speaker 3: I'm a sucker. Maybe I shouldn't really be putting so
- 59:41Speaker 3: much faith into a player coming off of a historically
- 59:44Speaker 3: big workload, and you look at how those players perform
- 59:47Speaker 3: after those seasons.
- 59:48Speaker 2: Typically.
- 59:49Speaker 3: We obviously have the recent example of Christian McCaffrey, you know,
- 59:52Speaker 3: and what happened last year for the forty nine ers,
- 59:54Speaker 3: and he just, you know, never was right for them.
- 59:57Speaker 3: Is entirely possible that Seklin Barkley is coming off massive
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: workload and it's just not the same thing as we
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: saw last year.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: But that's honestly not how I feel. So I can't
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: just that's not how.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: I feel either. I'm so glad you said that, actually,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: because I'm tired of this narrative. I think it can
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: be replicated, maybe not exactly exactly, but right in the realm.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: I'm so glad you said it.
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: He looked great in training camp.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: And it's not just me saying this.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: I've heard other people say, other Beat reporters say, including
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: my good friend John McMullen, Saquon looks better this year
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: in training camp than he did last year. And like,
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: that's not really that crazy to me from a standpoint
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: of we see these freak running backs in the NFL,
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: and they are very much the exception.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: Not the rule.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: But you look at Derrick Henry and how he's able
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: to just somehow endlessly churn out keep going yard season
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: just being ageless. Basically, and by all accounts, Saquon takes
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: extremely good care of his body. A lot of NFL
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: players do, not all of them, a lot of them,
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: but I think even like of the players who take
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: care of themselves really well, I think Saquon's like at
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: the top level of that kind of conditioning and kind
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: of just obsessive about being great and wanting to do this,
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: and he is very much like a student of the game,
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: and he really understands NFL history and values that He's
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: very aware that no one has gone back to back
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: two K seasons and I think he would love to
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: be the first player to do that. Obviously, again, a
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: lot of players would have loved to do that, but
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: I think his want to is different than those guys,
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: and he is more motivated and driven and just outright
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: talented than allow those other players in those positions. And
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: also from the Eagles offensive standpoint, I think, like I
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: said earlier, they're probably ideally going to want to not
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: have him touch the ball as much, but the reality
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: that we'll face them is that probably He's just going
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: to be the best answer, and they're going to have
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: to do it because they want to win football games.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: And in a perfect world, you would like to manage
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: the touches, but it doesn't work like that in the
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: heat of the moment when you're in the game and
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: you need a big play or you need your offense
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: to get going, and there are times in training camp
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: where the passing game would be out of singhs sometimes,
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: And in fairness, they're missing Devontae Smith, they're missing aj
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: Brown at different stretches. Those guys are healthy. It's obviously
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: a big factor. But my point is I think there
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: will be times throughout the season or the passing game
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: I'm not that as terrible all around, but just might
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: not be quite what you want it to be. And
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: when you're in those situations, the easy button the press
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: is going to be Saquon Barkley over and over and over.
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: So I think it's going to be another big time
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: year for Saquon Barkley.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a really good segue blg into the next
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: topic here too, because of what the offense could be,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: what it should be, what we may see right out
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: of the gate, because we're talking about Jalen Hurts, talking
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: about Saquon Barkley, those expectations. But I do wonder if
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: we're going to see any alterations to the offense under
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: Kevin Patulo. I do wonder if we will. And yes,
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: he's been in the system, the Egle system here for
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: a while, been working with Nick Sirianni for quite some time.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: I'm wondering, though, do you think we will end up
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: seeing any type of changes based on preserving Saquon, like
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: you were just talking about, even what you know may
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: happen with, say, with Landon Dickerson. I mean, we've been
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: talking about that storyline on this show for a while now.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: It's I'm concerned about the left guard position just from
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: a health standpoint and what that means to the offense
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: in general in terms of the productivity getting the ball
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: down the field in the run game, in the passing
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: game as well. I don't know, do you think we're
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: going to see the alterations here right out of the
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: gate or is it going to be just you know,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: same old, same old what we've been used to seeing.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I do believe that Kevin Petulo is going to
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: bring his own ideas to this offense. Okay, that's kind
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: of been slept on a little bit from the standpoint
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: of people. Just look at Kevin Petulo and the fact
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: that he's been Nick Sirianni's right hand man and he
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: almost has like no identity outside of it, all right,
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: And I just don't agree with that, because he was
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: in the NFL at other stops before he worked with
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: Nick Sirianni. He worked notably with Chang Yily, so he
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: has his own ideas. And also when you hear Kevin
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: Batula talk, and this doesn't mean he's going to be
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: a great or even good offensive coordinator, because there's plenty
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: of like smart sounding people who might not be good
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: at their job, especially in this circumstance. So uh, I
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: think just because Evian Botulo comes off well in his
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: press conferences again, doesn't mean he's going to be a
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: great OC. But as far as what we know now
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: before I see his track recer to play calling, he
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: seems like a pretty bright guy. So I'm willing to
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: give that guy some benefit of the doubt here, and
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: I think he's going to have his own ideas. I
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: don't think it's just oh, we're going to continue to
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: do what we did last year, and I'm not going
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: to put any kind of twists on it. We will
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: those twists be, and there's been speculation it could be
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: more shots down the field. That would seem natural from
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: the standpoint of just not doing that much at all
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: last year, and in part because they wanted to play
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: such a you know, kee, take care of the ball,
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: don't turn the ball over, don't risk turning them all
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: over with Jealen Hurts. But they're probably going to have
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: to go a little bit more in that direction than
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: they did last year, as I just don't think they're
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: going to be able to replicate exactly what they did
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: once again. So you know, I don't think it's reinventing
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: the wheel because they've had so much suc sense on
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: offense that they're just not going to be like, oh,
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: let's scrap everything we used to and try a bunch
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: of new ideas. But I do think they realize that
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: coming off of the twenty twenty two Super Bowl appearance
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: season and maybe not kind of inventing the offense enough
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: and by Jeffrey Lury talking about needing fresh ideas, Nickureianni
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: kind of emitting the offense went stale at one point
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: there they realized I think they're going to have to
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: introduce some things here that freshen it up.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I think we're definitely going to see that for sure.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: It's gonna be real interesting. And again, folks, we're talking
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: to BLG Brandley Gouton from Bleedinggreen Nation dot com. If
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: they're what am I talking about? I always say this
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: to you. If folks aren't following you, you know, get
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: your socials out. Everybody's following BLG out there. But just
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: for the sake of it, my friend, let everybody know
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: where they can find you on the interwebs.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: Oh yeah, at Brandon Gouton on Twitter. I believe on
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: threads as well. I think it's Brandon leg out in
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: a loose sky, So anywhere on social media probably just
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: you know, search by first and last name and that
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: should that should pop up. And then also you know,
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: beating your nation dot com check that out. Make sure
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: you sign up for an account, by the way, if
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: you don't want to see as many ads. That's a
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: nice little perk that going on.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: It's free.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: You don't have to do anything to sign up into
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: your account. If you want to comment, go ahead it'd
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: be great to have you on board, but if you
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: just want to lurk and read the articles and you're
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: signed in, you'll see fewer ads. So that's just a
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: nice little bonus we have going as well.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: Awesome folks. We got to take a break, gotta pay
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: some bills, but when we get back, we got much
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: more Eagles talk coming your way. Stick with us, all right.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: We are back with our good friend Brandon Lee Goutin
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: from Bleedinggreen Nation dot com at Brandon Gouten over on
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: the Twitter slash x, And I wanted to get into
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: a topic we've gotten into every now and again when
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: you are on BLG because I absolutely love talking about
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: special teams. It's a critically important part of the game,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: but it's always towards the bottom of the ladder in
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: terms of importance. But I want to get into Jake
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Elliott here because Jake had his worst regular season last year.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: He only made seventy seven point eight percent of his
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: kicks and was ranked twenty sixth in the league during
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: the course of the regular season. I'm wondering, man, is
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: there a possibility from anything that you have heard of? Mean,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: is there a possibility that if he struggles this season
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: kind of like he did last year, that he could
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: potentially be on the chopping block here, you what are
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: you thinking?
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: That would be pretty concerning. I do think he's going
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: to bounce back. I've been bullish on that just from
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: a standpoint of even like last year, during the season,
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: I was like, this is probably just one of those
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: down years that kickers ten and a half. It's not
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: abnormal for even good kickers in the NFL to just
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: have a down year mixed in there. And you looked
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: at last year's or last The last time Jake Elliott
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: had a down year like this, it was in twenty
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: twenty and he bounced back with his only Pro Bowl
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: season the next year in twenty twenty one. So I'm
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: expecting a bounce back from Jake. He looked good in
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: training camp. Didn't really see any issues there. I believe
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: he had two kicks from fifty plus just in the
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: final preseason game, yes.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: It's the Jets.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: That's one more than he had all of last year
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: in the regular season, when he was one to seven
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: from fifty plus. So I think I've seen enough there
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: to believe that, you know, to what extent he bounces back.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: I don't know, but I feel like he's going to
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: be better at least than he was last year.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Well let's move over to the defense here, BLG,
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: because I think a lot a lot of us here
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: are a bit skeptical about cornerback two, what that position
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: is going to be filling those roles throughout the early
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: part of the season, how it's really going to shake out,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: and if it will be a shaky position for the defense.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: I mean, I am concerned at this point about it.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Although based on what Vic Fangio has done with this defense,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: especially what he did last year after Week four, I
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: think we have to trust him for sure. But I mean,
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: are we going to see some tough times with such
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: a young secondary right out of the gate this season?
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: What are your thoughts about these concerns that a lot
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: of us are talking about here.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: I think it's a legitimate concern. Watching the cornerback two
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: battle in training camp, there really wasn't a winner. It
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: wasn't like Ray Jackson outshined Healthy Ringo. It's more of
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: like Health Ringo totally lost the job. Got to that
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: by the end of the training camp, had and currently
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: on the Eagle's own depth chart. It's like fallen out
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: of starting contention, which is really unfortunate because I think
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: they were counting on him to make a leap. Yeah,
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: and they brought in a Dory Jackson basically to be like, hey, Keeley,
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: this is your competition. Beat this guy out. It's not
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: a very high bar to clear. Doeory Jackson is not terrible.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: You know, he's been okay.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: I mean, I've seen him playing those Giants games BLG
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: and there's some dead there's some heat, broken coverages, and
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: just some not good play in terms of secondary play.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: I think the specific weakness with him that has stood
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: out here, especially more recently in his career. This will
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: be his age thirty season. I think he's a little
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: not trusting of his speed, so I think he tends
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: to play off a little bit more than he probably should.
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: And you know, worst case scenario not getting beat over
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: the top, like you can kind of live with that.
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: It's obviously what they want to do. They want to
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: eliminate big explosive plays like that. At the same time,
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: if it's just like easy for the other team to
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: go and beat your guy because he's giving up so
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: much underneath, Like, yeah, teams are going to expose that,
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: They're going to find a way to march down the
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: field and continue to take advantage of that. So Doriy
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: Jackson is your Week one starter. I think that's okay.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: I don't think that means that he's even the starter
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: by the second half. If things are going poorly, he
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: could flip the switch there to Jakouri and Bennett, but
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: that he goes traded for If Georgie Jackson makes it
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: through great and then maybe at some point down the road,
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: it's likely that Bennett probably takes over. It's possible that
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: keithy Ringo works his way back into the mix. I
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: don't feel optimistic about keithy Ringo's outlook after the summer
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: he had, but I will say we weren't feeling great
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: about Nolan Smith at this time last year either.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: That's great.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: Yeah, it's on Apple's Apple situation. Yeah, But the point
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: is sometimes over the course of a season, things can
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: happen and players can get better. So and I think
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: that's how the Eagles view. I don't think they've written
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: off keithy Ringo forever. I obviously think they don't want
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: him to play right now doesn't mean he can't be
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: a factor later on if struggles of injuries, you know,
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: give him an opportunity to play. But in the short term,
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: to answer the question, I absolutely think it's a concern.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: There's some mitigating factors that egals have in terms of
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: like you mentioned, they have big fangio that gives him
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: a way to kind of work around that. You have
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: situations where Doroy Jackson probably not going to be on
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: the field in base defense, which don't play a ton right,
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: but still it's you know, not recounting on him to
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: play one hundred percent of the snaps or will be
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: snaps there where it could be Koper's gene on the
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: outside when the hegles are in that base defense. So
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: there are some things you can kind of do to
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: like work around it to some extent, But obviously it
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: is a big concern.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: When you have receivers like Ceedee Lamb Malik neighbors in
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: the division along with Terry McLaurin. You know, it's concerning,
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: you know, how other offenses may scheme to make sure
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: that their matchups are against one of Dori Jackson or
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Keeley Ringo. Quite frankly, so it's gonna be gonna be
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: interesting to see how that pans out too. But before
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: I let you go, buddy, just continuing to talk about
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: the defense and some more of the strength of this defense.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: I mean, Jalen Carter is certainly going to be that
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: dominant guy right in the middle of this field, you know,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: given that he stays healthy. But I'm hoping, you know,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: as we're concluding our discussion here, we can go through
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: this defense and if you can give me a guy
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: that you think or that you're actually keeping your eyes
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: on this season to really have tremendous impact given the
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: changes that we've actually seen with this defense since the
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: Super Bowl. So let's start off with the defensive line here, Like,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: who do you think is really going to have a
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: tremendous impact Again, maybe outside of Jalen Carter, because we
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: know what he is and who he what he means
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: to this defense. Who is that for you on the
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: defensive line that you think is going to have tremendous impact.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna go with Moro. Ojomo have a great
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: training camp.
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: He was awesome, just consistently getting into the backfield both
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: as a pass rusher and against the run. Really reminded
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: me of what we saw from Milton Williams in training
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: camp last year. Just incredibly disruptive, Like you're not even
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: watching him before the play and you're watching him by
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: the end of the play because he just keeps popping
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: up over and over. And I don't think that's just
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: because there's some concern like, oh, he's going up against
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: Tyler Steen and smoking him.
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: Wasn't the case.
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: He goes up against Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens at
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: times too. It wasn't about them being terrible. It was
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: about Moro Jomo just being a really good player. So
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: I think that's big and another thing I'll add in there.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: Early in training camp, John Carter wasn't practicing due to
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: a shoulder injury, Maura Jomo was still having all that success. Yeah,
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: so that tells you too, this isn't just a matter
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: of like, oh, it doesn't matter who you stick next to.
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: Jim Carter, that guy can be awesome. No, Like Maura Jomo,
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: I think's going to be a very good player. And
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: certainly we'll benefit from Joe Carter getting a lot of attention.
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: So I think that's the big name on the defensive
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: line that I feel good about.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: All Right, Well, let's move to the linebacker corp here.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: I mean, who is that one tremendous impact player that
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: you're going to be keeping your eyes on.
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I love Zach Bond. So but he's
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: already we already know. I think we already know what
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: Zach Bond is. He's awesome, is awesome, This is awesome
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: last year. I think he could have a case to
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: be the best off ball linebacker in the NFL after
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: this season, depending on what we see from Fred Warner,
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: who's obviously very great as well. So you could be
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: splitting hairs there. But and no again, no disrespect to him.
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: I just think Zach Bond is that good. But I'm
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: going to go with John Campbell just from the standpoint
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: of it's so much more interesting to.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: See what he will be.
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: It's one of the youngest players on the Eagles roster
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: at twenty one years old, and we saw him win
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: a starting job at linebacker this training camp. And that
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: wasn't just because like, oh, they gave it to him. Obviously,
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: he's the first round pick. He's going to start, not
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: the case. Jeremiah Chrotter Junior had a really good summer
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: and got a lot of the first team reps there
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: until late in training camp. It was actually the final
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: practice that they had when Zach Bond and Johd Campbell
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: were finally together for the first time. Part of that
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: was Bond missed some a big period of training camp. Still,
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: the fact that Johd Campbell has outperformed Jeremiah Chrotter junior
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: and has earned that starting job as a rookie, just
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: just an intriguing player to like physically look at. It's
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: so big, he's athletic as well, and then when you
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: just pair him with Zach Bond, you can think about, like, oh,
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: the different things they might be able to do with
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: those guys. And sometimes they're going to be rushing the
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: passer are sometimes it's going to be dropping in the coverage.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: They're just that's a really intriguing duo and I can't
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: wait to see.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: Them helping to generate turnovers too. I mean, that's what
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: we need to see with this defense for sure this season.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: So what about the secondary. A tremendous impact player from
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: the secondary this year? What are your thoughts?
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: I think you know, so sometimes you look at a
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: player who's already good, and it's not like the most
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: fun thing to say they're good already. I know, we
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: already know Quentyon Mitchell is really good. I think it's
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: a different level for him this year. I think he's
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: going to make a leap from what he was, which
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: is already pretty amazing in year one two being like
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: all pro kind of quarterback, lockdown guy in year two.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: Like again, he looked great last year and even in
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: training camp, but it was a different level this summer
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: where he's going up against A J. Brown and he's
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: going against DeVante Smith, right, and let me be clear,
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: like no one you know, like is able to slow
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: down a J.
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: Brown.
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: Typically you could have a picture perfect coverage, it doesn't matter.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: Like AJ Brown is just going to win because he
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: is awesome. And yet Quenton Mitchell a number of times
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: this summer like shut him down, and I think that
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: speaks to how good Quinnon can be. He also had
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: a couple of interceptions in training camp. You would like
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: to see that ball production take up here, and you know,
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: the concern is really not about him as much as
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: it's you know, how much will the other teams be
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: able to take advantage of the cornerback two s and
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: then maybe just throw away from Queen On Mitchell. So
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: maybe he doesn't see targets because of that, but obviously
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: that's also a testament to him. They're not gonna test him, right,
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: and certainly the Eagles will will take that if they
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: totally the team just totally ignore the guy he's covering
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: and try to figure it out otherwise, it gives you
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: options to kind of work around that. But yeah, I
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: think Queen On Mitchell is gonna just take another leap
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: forward this year and be talked about as one of
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: these kind of lockdown corners, like you know, Revis Island,
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: kind of just totally dominant. You don't test that guy, right.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: It's gonna be wonderful to see. Cannot believe this season
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: is here. Dallas Cowboys this week, Week one, Kansas City
