- 0:38ask the Expert wc HS the voice of Charleson. I'm Deel Cooper, Thanks
- 0:41for tuning in. It is a of course hot Wednesday morning here in the
- 0:45month of June, and that's going to be another scorcher today. Not quite
- 0:49as hot, I think, as what it was yesterday, at least,
- 0:51the humidity is not going to be quite some high, quite so high,
- 0:54but it's still going to be a hot day out there, plus ninety degrees.
- 0:56Want to take care of yourself, take care of your animals, and
- 0:59be careful and all of that stuff. But welcome into the studio this morning
- 1:02from Stephen's Auto of Nitro formerly of Larry Dawson's auto sales, but still Larry
- 1:07Dawson is Larry Dawson. Hey Larry, how you doing this morning? Good
- 1:08morning, good morning. You summed that up pretty good as far as it's
- 1:12going to be slightly core, but just a little bit wow, has it
- 1:17been hot? Hit something else? And you know is a auto former auto
- 1:22dealer? I steal a dealer, but you know it's not what I once.
- 1:26I don't hit like I used to. It's tough out there on the
- 1:30lots this time of year. Actually, you know this is this is like
- 1:34August, September wet. It is. Yeah, And you know, I
- 1:38tell people that I still have a lot of questions. People call me,
- 1:44knows me or text me and say hey, I'm looking around going to do
- 1:47this, or that I can remember of the thirty seven years I spent there
- 1:52on on that one one lot is that you always dreaded that five o'clocks that
- 1:59sun when it gets at that angle, and just it's I mean, from
- 2:02the from the personnel to the consumer. You know, everybody's running just a
- 2:08little bit short on temperament. I mean, I think across the board because
- 2:13of this heat. One thing that you'll find that you'll stop by that.
- 2:20Not much has changed there a Nitro at four eighteen First Avenue, other than
- 2:23the name is Stevens Auto Nitro. Still the same group of people. Jody
- 2:29Johnson heads it up. He's a sales manager there and you know, I
- 2:34maintain an office there and I've watched a lot of cars coming going, moving
- 2:37in, moving out. A nice thing that we've we've expressed over the last
- 2:40few months or this show is the volume of inventory that they have in a
- 2:46selection. And you know, you drive by Nitro and you'll see fifty plus
- 2:52minus cars, but there's another four hundred plus between Princeton. They're MIT's busy
- 2:57store. There's Somersville store, the Oak Hill Store, and the flagship store
- 3:02that is in Danville. So there's a lot of opportunity there as far as
- 3:07shopping for inventory. And if you go in. When I left that building,
- 3:13when they leased that building for me, it had excellent air conditioning,
- 3:16so it's just to be very cool, right, And it was a big
- 3:20old refrigerator that I just kept full of liquid refreshment, you know, whether
- 3:23you wanted a gatorade or water. And I'm sure known Jody that matter of
- 3:28fact, I think I walked past Jody's office the other day. I think
- 3:30I saw another refrigerator right, And I know Donnie has something back, because
- 3:36occasionally I might have to walk over and ask a question or borrow little tool
- 3:39or something ill open as a refrigerator. I'll grab a bottle of water and
- 3:43go. I'll bring you one, get it back. I was in a
- 3:46little research because I was interested in this. Just as we were talking right
- 3:50here. On a ninety degree day, you can expect asphalt temperatures could reach
- 3:53anywhere between one hundred and ten and one hundred and fifty degrees. And you
- 3:57know, as a salesperson in your state, and you've been there eight,
- 4:00ten, twelve hours assisting your clients, and it does become five o'clock or
- 4:06six o'clock in the evening, and you know your potential client may have went
- 4:11home and shired up and had dinner and come on, you know, came
- 4:14back to he or she or they might be freshened up a little bit more
- 4:17than you are sure. And and you know, this time of year,
- 4:23regardless of your profession, I mean, if we were sitting in this building,
- 4:26let's say the ac broke, you know we would we probably would,
- 4:30right, we would have looking for some wood to one here, would I
- 4:33be talking very fast, wanting the alley here. And I think that's just
- 4:38a trend of the human nature. You know. Well, in the same
- 4:41way, when it got very very cold, you know, let's go inside.
- 4:45So once again that that I'm store sure that the store, those air
- 4:48conditioning units are cranking, but it was nice and comfortable inside the environment,
- 4:55and they have not changed much. I noticed that Dakota Lee has got a
- 4:59little different desk and airy ideas beside the fish tank. But when you walk
- 5:02into Steven's Auto Nitro, if you haven't been there in I mean five years,
- 5:08ten years, twenty years, pick a figure, because the last thirty
- 5:11seven years I was there, it has developed into a very nice, comfortable
- 5:15setting. And I believe that that's what attracted them to come and for this
- 5:19deal to take place, because the transition was basically me boxing up a few
- 5:27items going, but they left everything intact and operating as such. And you
- 5:32know, I've said this that, and I've said this on the air,
- 5:35and I'm very sincere. You know, I'm not working like I once did.
- 5:40I'm still in the game somewhat that as a solo practitioner, and I
- 5:45just follow the market I have. You know, this is all I've ever
- 5:47done in my life. And I still want to assist and I still want
- 5:50to help you know, if needed. But if you come in and you
- 5:54see something and this to say that you want to see me, I'm just
- 5:58right. You go through the gate and come over another building there, I
- 6:01walk over. I'll help. You'll do whatever I can that you know that,
- 6:05like Chase and I talked last week or two weeks ago, that when
- 6:10you have transitions of businesses and whether they're least or sold or taken over,
- 6:15whatever word you want to use, is that it's a very good feeling when
- 6:20you keep the communications in the comfort zone together. In other words, you
- 6:28feel very comfortable walking over. I know they have walked over and asked me.
- 6:31Donnie. Donnie is going to do a little help with me on the
- 6:34side beside, I bought Donnie's a technician has been there. I think Donnie
- 6:39and I was together twenty four years. And let me tell you something,
- 6:43Donnie will help you too. Donnie is a great asset, you know when
- 6:46you have when I was operating sometimes a two man band and they have a
- 6:51four man band over there. You have Ray and Larry and Dakota and Jody
- 6:56that sometimes your plate gets full. Well, let me tell you some hon
- 7:00here. Chris isn't shy. Chris is excellent too. They'll walk in and
- 7:02assist you. So everything everybody's over there and just other than Larry, not
- 7:08just across the fence. So you know, what better conditions could you have
- 7:12that if you if you walk in and or maybe just want to have me,
- 7:15have me break the ice, so to speak, I'll do that.
- 7:18That's actually I had a high school friend of mine. I hold he and
- 7:25his family several cars and uh he is a coach down in southern West Virginia.
- 7:30He texts me, I think Sunday looking for a specific car. It's
- 7:34going to be a hard fine. But I told him, I said,
- 7:36you know, I'll watch something comes through. We'll let you know. And
- 7:42I said this two weeks ago. It's I feel I think people feels more
- 7:46comfortable now about approaching me about certain questions because when you were in the game
- 7:51and you were the dealer, that you were hesitant about asking about a certain
- 7:57vehicle because it might not be the one that you were presenting. It might
- 8:01be a different dealership. And you know, I've told people that I've taken
- 8:05many people to different stores to drop them off to get their new car because
- 8:09I want this new car sold. So because they become used cars now a
- 8:13lot better off to have used cars there at Stevens Auto and Nitro. Larry
- 8:18Dawson from Stevens Auto of Nitroe. You can find more information online of course,
- 8:22Stevens of Nitro dot com. Stevens of Nitro dot com located four eighteen
- 8:26for seven New South in Nitro, West Virginia, the longtime location of Larry
- 8:28Dawson Auto Cells. Their phone number twll free now is eight eight eight seven
- 8:31one two eleven sixty two. Eight eight eight seven one two eleven sixty two.
- 8:35Can we still give them your local number? Two? Okay? Seeing
- 8:37still give them the local number? Two threes are of four uh seven two
- 8:41seven zero four zero four sixty four almost said seven six seven for some reason.
- 8:45I don't know why. Well, it's funny that you hit on that
- 8:48about the phone number, and we had a chat two weeks ago about technology
- 8:52and you summed it up exactly right. Technology has advanced movement of many,
- 9:00many, many opportunities along the way in the last it is moving so fast.
- 9:07What we're talking about today, we could go down the road to six
- 9:11months and it's advanced. It's it's moving very fast, so fast that you
- 9:18really have to stay up on top. But I have tried, and it
- 9:24seems like it's worked for me. In my profession is to exchange some type
- 9:31of communication outside of that keyboard. In other words, can you get a
- 9:35cell phone number? And Richard text me? Richard Stevens text me, I
- 9:39think one day last week, and we have been trying for six months to
- 9:46and I think I would find it very simple to do. I thought it
- 9:48was very simple to move the internet service from Larry Dawson's out of sales to
- 9:54Steven's automotive Nitro. It is if someone on the other end it is,
- 10:01well, we'll do their job, so to speak. He and I have
- 10:07filled out and signed paperwork. Well, finally he texted me and he said,
- 10:11is it okay for them to call you? And I said absolutely,
- 10:15And I said I do not happen to know somebody in the optimum management field.
- 10:22I said, let me send them a little text and see if we
- 10:26can move this along. Well, I won't Bory the audience with this long
- 10:30story. But and I played golf Friday. It was an all day affair,
- 10:35and we thought we had it, and you know, they're asking me
- 10:37questions. We simply wanted Stevens Auto to take over the optimum account of Larry
- 10:43Dawson's Auto. So sounds simple, doesn't it. Well, this started on
- 10:46January the fifteenth. I think as of Friday. I think as of Friday,
- 10:52we've got this taken care of. And how simple would be if two
- 10:56people could talk. I mean, we spread ita by having a connection with
- 11:03a telephone number. I was able to get someone to call and I talked
- 11:07to him three different times Friday. I do not know who's one the other
- 11:11line. His name's James. But they were asking me a series of questions,
- 11:18and those telephone numbers that you gave out almost I think really got zapped.
- 11:24They did not get transferred. Oh okay, so they were the it
- 11:31for Steven's Automotive. Was able to recognize that situation unbeknownst to me, and
- 11:37and text me and asked me if i'd call that call OpEd him up by
- 11:41idea, and we were able and I believe that we're home safe. Now.
- 11:46This started on January fifteenth, get awful complicated in this technology. It's
- 11:54something else. Yes, it's something else, and I'm not going to once
- 11:56again bore the audience. It's it's with situations I've seen in doing nothing but
- 12:03transferring from one auto dealership or one business, one entity over to one that
- 12:09has taken my spot. I don't remember it being this difficult. You know,
- 12:13I'm a land I'm a landlord. I have I have really least real
- 12:20estate. I own six commercial buildings that has tenants in them. I have
- 12:26always worked hand in hand with this tenant. Maybe one leaves, the other
- 12:28one comes in. You simply call to address the utility issue, uh to
- 12:35to transfer whatever is there may be out one client's name to the other,
- 12:39and sometimes there's a stall or there's there when they move out, you may
- 12:43have to put it back in your name for a period of time. And
- 12:48it was never this hard because you could talk to somebody, Yeah you could,
- 12:54you could switch your utilities, you could do all the things. And
- 12:58through this technology it has become extremely difficult. And I catch when I leave
- 13:05here where I'm going to go work with West Virginia American Water on an issue
- 13:11I've had for six months as well of doing a transfer that they can't seem
- 13:18to get it. So my advice to I think this audience is a little
- 13:24bit older. I don't think we're talking to twenty is that do what I
- 13:28have done is when you introduce yourself and you're talking, if you can get
- 13:33a telephone number and name, write it down automobile dealership, same way you're
- 13:39talking to that salesperson. I used to pass my card out. I use
- 13:43them scratch pads. I still pass my cards out. I do, and
- 13:48I just have to go through from four eighteen to four sixteen. But I
- 13:50said, contact me. This has every number on it that you can reach
- 13:56me at. You know, I'm easy to get a hold of through Facebook.
- 14:00But if you make that available, but it's not available unless you ask
- 14:05for And my advice is, people you're out there shopping for these automobiles,
- 14:09go to Stevens. I'm telling you Jody will probably give you his home address.
- 14:15You know you will find somebody will talk to you and share and exchange
- 14:18numbers with you. And that is a complaint that I have people come to
- 14:22me that previously see built from me asking for advice. Is they said,
- 14:28we can't communicate. We try to call these stores and time we get through
- 14:33punching the departments we're in and they loop our calls around. You won't have
- 14:39that at seven two seven four sixty four. They don't answer that phone.
- 14:43I hear the phone ring. I'm that close to my old store that I
- 14:48can hear the outside ring. That frustration level. I don't think that corporations
- 14:54realize the frustration level of the consumer or the buyer. It highly frustrates when
- 15:03you're trying to make a connection. And I know that now as being let's
- 15:09say a civilian, let's call me a civilion, that what people are really
- 15:13sharing with me said, man, I've tried to call service, I've tried
- 15:16to call parts. I've tried to do this, it said, it's this
- 15:20relentless loop, over and over and over. I have a it's not a
- 15:24conspiracy, but a thought when it comes to a lot of this stuff sometimes
- 15:28and that is that what we've ended up, what we've ended up getting with
- 15:33this with the circle of technology is no accountability because you can keep on chasing
- 15:37the computer around with what the problem was, and so you know it was
- 15:41the systems problem, it was this problem. It was that problem. We've
- 15:45talked about different things like this before. One of the my mom has been
- 15:50she recently, she shares a piece of property with her with her sister.
- 15:54Her sister passed away last year, so there's this, you know, this
- 15:58estate that they're dealing with and things like that. But my mom, they
- 16:00shared a piece of property. There's two houses on my My mom just wanted
- 16:03to move from one house over to the other house. Yes, do sound
- 16:07simple. They they're on the same bills and stuff. So all my mom
- 16:10wanted to do was take the phone number, same bill, take the phone
- 16:12number that was at her house, and move it to the phone number that
- 16:15was two hundred yards away to the house that was over there. Same bill,
- 16:18same bill. And they whiffed one several of the appointments to show up
- 16:26to help because there's an internet transfer and stuff that came along with us.
- 16:30They whiffed. And this is the company that has been responsible for our last
- 16:33mile in the state for a decade and a half and has done such a
- 16:37great job at getting our last mouth, which is why fifteen years later,
- 16:40we're still trying to fix the last moule. Anyway, so they finally show
- 16:45up for the service call and they don't have any of this information right.
- 16:48They're like, this is a disconnect. This is It's like She's like,
- 16:51this isn't a disconnect, it's a transfer of service. I'm just trying to
- 16:53move my number over there, and you want to do away with your internet
- 16:56is I'm not trying to do away with my internet. I'm just transferred.
- 17:00They had the entire thing wrong. What she usually runs into is apathy.
- 17:03You know, it's like, well, I need a call and we have
- 17:06to reschedule your point whatever. She finally got a worker who basically, and
- 17:10I think literally through his clipboard, was like this happens so much. And
- 17:12he just said, okay, tell me what it is that I'm supposed to
- 17:15be doing for you, and he sat down with her, walked her through
- 17:18what they were supposed to do, and got it set up for her the
- 17:21way it was supposed to be. The thing is, it took that person
- 17:23individually, on his own. It wasn't a supervisor that was making him do
- 17:27it or anything else that decided to have empathy for my seventy two year old
- 17:32mother for a minute and help her get this stuff done. I see it
- 17:34every day I dress it every day, and you were right, and I
- 17:38didn't realize how much of a problem it was until the dealership exchanged hands.
- 17:48Is it's an epidemic. I plugged Richard Stevens. If he's listening. He
- 17:53had the patience and we worked this one out. But it started during January
- 17:57fifteenth. I think we've got it. But let me tell you about this
- 18:03about not being able to communicate. If you go to dig, you know
- 18:08they ask you to call misutility. There's an area which I'm moving a canopy
- 18:15that the motor home sits under. We're going to try to get it moved
- 18:18here in the next couple of weeks. But we had to form or set
- 18:22a base for it to set on. That required drilling, auguring eight holes
- 18:27to put mounting device in. Was this called a mounting device? It's six
- 18:33to six timbers. I call misutility. I square off the area they asked.
- 18:38I did everything Misutility told me to do. They came and marked a
- 18:44water line in the sewer line before we drilled twelve inch auger four feet deep,
- 18:51eight of them. We went seven feet and they'll tell you that give
- 18:56them two feet either way. I understand that because they're following trace lines and
- 19:00whatever. We went seven feet first, boar hit a dead center gas line,
- 19:07dead center called Mountaineer gas. Gentleman showed up. Nice guy, he
- 19:14had empathy. He saw what happened. I said, I've done everything right.
- 19:19He's kind of like the guy through the clipboard because this was in first
- 19:23time. Second time might have been a ten thousand times. He has seen
- 19:27this, so hey was there. I said, listen, I've got a
- 19:30worker here, I've got a piece of rental machine. We have seven other
- 19:34holes to bore. We're seven foot off and we've hit this. The other
- 19:40one is much further away, he said, drill four out of the eight
- 19:45we hit gas line. I don't understand it. And it was in a
- 19:53straight line, and it was not marked. And this is not old gas
- 19:59line. This is a This building that I occupy is about ten years old.
- 20:03You could we found a traceer wire. I mean it was right there
- 20:07and it was marked fifteen feet away. But this gentleman was there and we're
- 20:17able to communicate. I was able to look him in the eye like I'm
- 20:19looking you in display that I did everything right. I guess I hate to
- 20:26say it's not my fault, but I don't know whose fault it was,
- 20:30other than the instructions that we were giving. Well, this all started about
- 20:33one eight one one, someone that's not even our state. I gave him
- 20:37the best direction. I did everything, white spray paint, did the squares,
- 20:41good everything. Thank goodness, this gentleman shows up with empathy, and
- 20:47that's what you almost have to seek now to get empathy to when you get
- 20:52in this world. Technology were in because you're right, you just passed it
- 20:56off. I don't know what we would have done. I mean, I
- 20:59mean, I couldn't fix the pierced gas line. There was he knew where
- 21:03the meter was, he turned off, he repaired it. We're good,
- 21:06it's you know, it's all the work is accomplished. But this job that
- 21:11should have taken maybe two hours maybe started early in the morning and went till
- 21:18almost evening time, and it all once again was on technology, I mean,
- 21:23instead of coming and I guess showing empathy and doing I don't know how
- 21:29this line got marked. I mean, I just don't understand it. And
- 21:33I really don't understand why misutility, if they're that far off, why they
- 21:38advertise their goods so much that this is what you have to do, because
- 21:44in this case, this isn't a second this isn't the first case. For
- 21:47Larry Dawson. This also happened on another piece of property with offens that happened
- 21:52to be adjacent to the stevens Autoi own on both sides of it. Same
- 21:57thing hit it three times. So in this world of technology, if this
- 22:03is the way we're going to go, and if this is the way we're
- 22:06headed, is find that individual with empathy and put them in charge as far
- 22:11as the communication. Now the workers, the worker. But you know,
- 22:17I struggle being at my age in the sixties, and I can only imagine
- 22:22people like your mother that's a decade older than me, and people it's two
- 22:26and three decades older, because there's human beings they want to be talked to.
- 22:32The thing that gets me. I'm fifty and or I will be in
- 22:34August. And I'm not a technical luddite. I mean, I had my
- 22:40first computer in nineteen eighty four. I got hired in here for it when
- 22:41I first got hired in full time, not broadcast originally, and even at
- 22:48this age, and I'll probably present a little younger than what I actually am,
- 22:51but I will get into situations with people that are working with a proprietary
- 22:53system of some sort of technology, proprietary technology. There's no way I know
- 22:57anything about techechnology. I don't care who I am. I don't care if
- 23:00I'm Bill Gates. I don't know anything about that technology because it's not part
- 23:03of what I do. I know about technology, but not your technology.
- 23:07You know, And the kind of smarmy attitude you get sometimes because you don't
- 23:11know exactly what it is that they're doing. It's like, brother, I
- 23:12had a computer in nineteen eighty four, like a decade before you were born.
- 23:17I just don't know your software. Man, Just chill out with the
- 23:19chip on your shoulder and let's communicate a little bit so we can help each
- 23:22other out here. You don't have to get that attitude with me. I
- 23:25get a little bit fussy with that stuff. How am I supposed to know
- 23:27what you know? I don't know what you know. You want to come
- 23:30and talk host a talk radio show, but you can't do it, can
- 23:33you? That stuff makes me so mad. Well, there's a world full
- 23:37of experts now because of because of the Internet, and just because you see
- 23:42it, and just because you might watch a video on YouTube, you're not
- 23:47living it. You know, the guys over the dealership at Steven's, you
- 23:52know that they've all been at it a long time. They're full of information,
- 23:56and they're willing to talk to you. They're willing to look at you
- 24:00any eyes, shake your hand, A dress you you know, sets you
- 24:03in the right direction as far as your automotive needs. I'm on a blog
- 24:11and I have been on for quite some time, and I'll read the ins
- 24:15and outs of audio auctions. I watch auto auctions. I mean, I'm
- 24:19a car guy. You know, I'm not working like I once did.
- 24:23It's physically, but I'm still in the game. And I watch because I
- 24:27watched a trend, I didn't go home and just sit down. I am
- 24:32amazed with the complaints one from Carvana. It is it. If someone would
- 24:37go in and read the blog and see what people went through, you would
- 24:42run from that platform back over to your small independent, your small franchise,
- 24:48your your you don't have to be small, but where you can see somebody,
- 24:52you can talk to somebody, and if you have an issue with your
- 24:55title or your registration, you can go in and communicate. Another piece of
- 25:00technology that maybe it would work, but there's a whole chain of people in
- 25:03there that that are lazy, and they then they pushed the work to the
- 25:07technology, and the technology is imperfect in getting it done, and it just
- 25:10causes a huge screw up all the way down the line. Correct, maybe
- 25:14the technology would work, maybe it doesn't have to be such a terrible company,
- 25:18But the fact of the matter is they rely on the technology too much,
- 25:19or the people they put in charge of deploying the technology aren't responsible enough.
- 25:23You can make it work, but you have to have the right people
- 25:26making it work, and those people have to have the empathy, the ability
- 25:29to reach out and stuff like. We we skipped a whole generation of transferring
- 25:33the power. We skipped the whole generation. There should have been information brokers
- 25:37that were helping hand off between one generation the next, one generation of technology
- 25:42in the next. We haven't had that. We've went straight from sort of
- 25:45what we all grew up with to this next level. And if you don't
- 25:48come along, you're you're kind of shamed for it for some reason or another.
- 25:52I don't like that at all. We don't like to take it off
- 25:52right. Yeah, let's take a break. Larry Dawson is here from Stevens

- 27:57Yesterday, Kim, my fiance is, she went to the beach with
- 28:03the grandkids and she left her car and asked me if i'd get a service.
- 28:10It was time, and it was within fifty miles. And I'm a
- 28:12big, big believer in every five thousand miles. So I called a friend
- 28:18of mine, John's garage, his son Chase, Chase board excellent, excellent
- 28:25mechanic, and I said, Chase, I said, I'd like to get
- 28:26Kim's car service, got to bring it down and said sure. Well Kim
- 28:30had told me, and I drove it in at night and the headlights need
- 28:37aimed. That makes it the cross out here. Yeah, yeah, so
- 28:40you know. But now I'm talking to the gentleman that's going to be doing
- 28:44the repair like I'm talking to you. So we're communicating. Well at old
- 28:48school, we're using words, not texting each other. We're not texting,
- 28:52we're speaking. And so he texted me by or he called me back,
- 28:57excuse me, and he said, cars ready and I said okay. I
- 29:00said text me Bill, I'll get a check. I'll come down and see
- 29:03you. And he said okay. So when I went down, his dad,
- 29:07which is friend of mine, was pulling the car around and he said,
- 29:12man, he said, these headlights. He said, now, get
- 29:15this aiming headlights. He said, we had to put it on a computer.
- 29:21And it runs a series of whatever through this computer, and these headlights
- 29:26move and go this way and that way, and it does a variety of
- 29:30different functions to aim headlights. And I said, well, John, I
- 29:37guess I'm going to have to wait until it gets dark to see and drive
- 29:41it, you know, and really get dark til ten o'clock. So I
- 29:45said, it's you know, and I'm in bed at ten. So I
- 29:48said, we'll figure this out. But we were able to communicate, and
- 29:52he gave me the play by play. How did that? I mean,
- 29:56I had no idea. I don't think he had an idea. It's the
- 30:00Lexus r X three point fifty. But you plug it into a computer and
- 30:04the computer runs a series of functions and to make the headlights aim, I
- 30:11guess properly. So I found I was, you know, every day,
- 30:17and I being in the sixties, I still want to learn. I want
- 30:21to learn something every day. So I learned something. I learned that you
- 30:25don't take a screwdriver out there and you drop in like the old days and
- 30:27you move the headlights. You let the computer do it. But that computer
- 30:32is only as good as the operator. And let me tell you something.
- 30:33That operator is only as good as it can share the information with the client.
- 30:40That that computer couldn't tell me that. Now you know how many how
- 30:44many stores would you go to that you wouldn't got that information carried over to
- 30:49you. You got your piece of paper called a receipt, and you got
- 30:53to figure it all out. And that's why that this networking and stay close
- 30:59and don't shop price, shop service individual one on one, you know,
- 31:07get to know that person and and just I'm telling you in the end game,
- 31:12you will be much much better off. I know your frustration. You've
- 31:17told me some things we've talked off air before we went on here. We
- 31:21could take all day. We are not here to trash individuals. We are
- 31:26here with the same issues, and it's communication, and it's so simple to
- 31:32resolve by talking. Yeah, and you always share the stories and I try
- 31:37to mimicate where there is a resolution at this We're not just spitting into the
- 31:40wind here. It's like this happened, and this is how you overcome it.
- 31:42And almost every time the answer is some sort of communication. Richard and
- 31:47I solved this with together, or I finally threw a hell. Mary,
- 31:51I said, Richard, I know someone in the Optimum Management. Let me
- 31:55send them what you're sending me. I said, because you're right. We
- 31:59started on January the fifteenth, and we have not yet got this result.
- 32:04And just how simple it could be if there wasn't layers of technology, if
- 32:10it was just one on one. And I really don't think, I truly
- 32:15don't think that's too much to ask for this communication. Yesterday evening, I
- 32:22look at cars re line. It's just what I do, and I occasionally
- 32:24buy a few cars on line. I went to a platform I'm familiar with.
- 32:29It's called ACV. It's a platform where wholesale dealers can trade inventory.
- 32:34When I trade purchase and sell, I get on I mean it's hot.
- 32:38Yesterday evening. So I thought i'd look at some automobiles. I'll get on
- 32:40a tournament. And it comes up that I'm no longer in business. And
- 32:47so I called the one eight hate number and I get a hold of a
- 32:51gentleman. I said, you, sir, I've been in business since nineteen
- 32:53eighty seven. You know I don't use and do what I once did,
- 32:58but I'm still a license auto dealer. And I was just one of your
- 33:00platform a month or so ago. Who told you I was out of business?
- 33:04And why am I disconnected? Here? Gentleman looked through it, and
- 33:08he says, I cannot give you an answer. I said, okay,
- 33:13he said, but I tell you what I see. He's brought up who
- 33:16I was, and he said, you've done a lot of business. PLATFORM
- 33:19said probably, but I can't. I'm locked out. He sent me his
- 33:23cell phone number. Nice. He said, when you go to your office,
- 33:27I said, I'm not. He said, u's your office. I
- 33:29said, no, sir, I'm home. I said, I'll be there
- 33:30tomorrow. He said, send me a copy of your dealer license. He
- 33:35said that's all we need. And I thought, how simple this gentleman.
- 33:38I caught to I mean, what's the odds. I caught the right guy,
- 33:42the right person the song that I had a legit complaint and was willing
- 33:46to work with me. And he texted me his cell phone number with an
- 33:52explain and you know what I sent him, Thank you very much? Yeah
- 33:54right, yeah, let me tell you those words, sir, ma'am,
- 33:58thank you. I appreciate shade. It will go a long ways because when
- 34:02you're striving to keep up this technology, and I don't I don't believe that
- 34:08if you paused for six months and you're a twenty one year old born with
- 34:14a phone in your hand, it's going to leave you that soon. So
- 34:17I don't know how we possibly could keep up unlessen, this is what you
- 34:21are. You're an IT person that you're constantly at it. And it's so
- 34:25nice to be able to have one on one, to be able to communicate,
- 34:29to go in at a familiar surroundings and you know, once again,
- 34:32I build a business in Nitro. It's one on one. Steven's Auto Nitro
- 34:37now occupies it. You can go in and you can get that attention,
- 34:40you can get communication, you can look at someone in the eye. And
- 34:45I've watched Donnie many times or Chris, go out and explain maybe something that
- 34:51someone didn't quite understand. And it wasn't no fault of them or the automobile.
- 34:55It was not familiar. You just told me about the six CA that's
- 35:00very easy to jump in and to follow along through. Asked they could go
- 35:05in there and probably find her way through it. Put her in a twenty
- 35:09twenty four Camra and see if she will with you will not need a lot
- 35:14of sisters. Well, she'll probably need to explain it to me at sometimes
- 35:16she already like was looking over my shoulder the other night and I was struggling
- 35:20to do something. She's like, it's right here, daddy. I was
- 35:22like, how did you know that? Exactly? Because these automobiles are changing
- 35:27and we have to change with the times, and you have to be instructed
- 35:31how to do it. Could you imagine throwing the keys to somebody in a
- 35:35twenty twenty four and said there's your car? Yeah right? You know in
- 35:39some cases I remember I bought that's a good point. I bought Thor Meek's
- 35:44Mercedes. Thor's the Timmy's son down Tays Valley and good family, excellent family.
- 35:50And I said, and struggled, is a Mercedes Hi and Mercedes I
- 35:54struggled at in that parking lot get figure out how to put that car and
- 35:58reverse. It's a great point because twenty years ago, whether it was a
- 36:01Cadillac or a Cavalier, car was bigger. Gas might be on a different
- 36:07side, different things like that, but generally speaking, you got in,
- 36:09you turn the ignition, you drove the car. You know, it's not
- 36:12like that necessarily anymore. Well, this had the key fob with with a
- 36:15labor or a dish, and I just, you know, I just wasn't
- 36:19familiar with it, and I banged around and finally got that thing in reverse.
- 36:22Those things are so far I don't know why we have to keep reinventing
- 36:23the wheel now, you know, I mean, these shifters work, why
- 36:25do we Well, they want that. They want that real estate is what
- 36:29they want to put in more computers. So they're trying to find the shifter
- 36:30was like the little knob. Now they could just turn like a volume mob.
- 36:34I don't get it, man, that like tactically, that doesn't feel
- 36:37right to me to just turn a little knob like you're turning the volume.
- 36:42I know, man, to get off my lawn, get off my line.
