- 0:01Speaker 1: All right, Well, we're gonna take a moment and talk
- 0:03Speaker 1: some baseball, because as you know, it's part of my passion.
- 0:06Speaker 1: And we'll get back to eighty eight thirty five next episode.
- 0:09Speaker 1: But I have to shout out Justin Time Baseball, who
- 0:13Speaker 1: was at Yankee Stadium this week and an event put
- 0:16Speaker 1: on by Double Play Sports Events and the Yankees where
- 0:19Speaker 1: premium licensees were able to take batting practice fielding practice
- 0:23Speaker 1: at Yankee Stadium. How cool is that? And here's what
- 0:26Speaker 1: Justin said from right field this past week. Of course,
- 0:32Speaker 1: right field is where the captain, Aaron Judge, reigns, and
- 0:36Speaker 1: great defense by him this year, by the way, But
- 0:38Speaker 1: here's what Justin Time had to say from Yankee Stadium
- 0:41Speaker 1: earlier this week. Hey everybody, I'm here at Yankee Stadium
- 0:45Speaker 1: in right field where the captain plays, Aaron Judge. Little
- 0:50Speaker 1: outfield tip for you. When you're taking a fly ball,
- 0:55Speaker 1: your first step is back and we're doing a drop step.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Much easier to come in then to go out. Tip
- 1:03Speaker 1: of the day. And so very honored that he continues
- 1:09Speaker 1: to partner with us at the show and that we
- 1:11Speaker 1: get to play his clips for you in case you
- 1:14Speaker 1: didn't catch it. On his social media just in Time Baseball.
- 1:17Speaker 1: But he is a guy like so many others that
- 1:20Speaker 1: care about fundamentals of the game. And when you watch
- 1:24Speaker 1: last night's Yankee game and you see that they kept
- 1:27Speaker 1: climbing back and then they eventually do lose the series
- 1:30Speaker 1: to the Blue Jays, I have to wonder when will
- 1:34Speaker 1: these issues be addressed. I told Jimmy Randezo this and
- 1:37Speaker 1: he reposted me posted the Yankees pot of course, I said.
- 1:43Speaker 1: The Yanks seem to just get by on the wins
- 1:45Speaker 1: they have. The day after a fundamental disaster happened, it's like, oh, well,
- 1:51Speaker 1: we lost to Atlanta by misrunning the bases. Yet Trent
- 1:54Speaker 1: Grisham Bales is out the next night with a grand slap. Great,
- 1:58Speaker 1: let's talk about what's really going on here in October.
- 2:02Speaker 1: You need to be sharp as attack. I don't care
- 2:04Speaker 1: what baseball team you are. And these errors that are happening.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I think Steve, my friend, said it was like two
- 2:10Speaker 1: errors in one inning at one point. I mean it's
- 2:13Speaker 1: a disaster in the field. Four errors and two wild
- 2:19Speaker 1: pitches is what he told me. That's unacceptable. And I
- 2:24Speaker 1: love the Yankees, but at what point do we as
- 2:27Speaker 1: fans start to say, hey, let's focus on this team
- 2:31Speaker 1: addressing let's push for this team to address the issues
- 2:34Speaker 1: of fundamentals, because you can get by on winning the
- 2:40Speaker 1: next night after a disaster, or you can just clamp
- 2:44Speaker 1: down focus on these issues and then all of a
- 2:48Speaker 1: sudden play better baseball. I'm very ticked off that we
- 2:55Speaker 1: lost the series to Toronto. I thought we could have
- 2:57Speaker 1: had a chance after Monday. Ben Rice, who struck out
- 3:01Speaker 1: to end the game on Monday night, goes back and
- 3:05Speaker 1: hits a clutch game winner on Tuesday night to snap
- 3:09Speaker 1: the Blue Jays eleven game home win streak, by the way,
- 3:11Speaker 1: and four game win streak posts all Star Break. Then
- 3:16Speaker 1: last night, you know, and by by, I gotta give
- 3:20Speaker 1: Jazz and Belly credit as well for hitting those homers
- 3:25Speaker 1: in Tuesday's game as well. But last night Volpie homers.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Judge gets a homer, and then that was kind of it,
- 3:34Speaker 1: And I was saying to talking Yanks, Look, a healthy
- 3:39Speaker 1: Max Freed could be a key to the Yankee success.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I'm also gonna add in there. I'm also gonna add
- 3:45Speaker 1: in there, a healthy fundamentals, a solid fundamental game will
- 3:51Speaker 1: also be key. The Dodgers as I said before, had
- 3:54Speaker 1: a playbook somehow of what the Yanks demise was gonna
- 4:02Speaker 1: be that World Series, and they were just waiting to
- 4:04Speaker 1: pounds in Game five, that five to nothing lead that
- 4:08Speaker 1: got erased because of those fundamental errors. But at what
- 4:13Speaker 1: point do we stop yelling at talking Yanks for questioning
- 4:17Speaker 1: this and actually addressing the issues. Aaron Boone, you and
- 4:23Speaker 1: Blake get thrown out that that's great you want to
- 4:25Speaker 1: stand up for your guys. I understand that, but you
- 4:28Speaker 1: know you also stand up for your guys. You manage them,
- 4:31Speaker 1: You get them back on that field and focus on
- 4:33Speaker 1: the fundamentals of the game. If you don't have one
- 4:39Speaker 1: leg up on fundamentals, or as Keith Namers say, the
- 4:42Speaker 1: fundies of the game, you're gonna screw yourself. And I'm
- 4:49Speaker 1: tired of watching this team climb all the way back
- 4:52Speaker 1: just to fail an inning later or two innings later.
- 4:58Speaker 1: And by the way, this we going to be a
- 5:00Speaker 1: perfect way to ship shape the defense the fundamentals, because
- 5:04Speaker 1: the Phillies are not coming in messing around. Kyle Schwarber
- 5:07Speaker 1: looks like he's found himself after that swing off, hitting
- 5:10Speaker 1: homer after homer again, and the Phillies, though they've been
- 5:15Speaker 1: struggling going into the break, seem to have really needed
- 5:17Speaker 1: that All Star break and they're coming in well, I
- 5:20Speaker 1: know they lost last night to the Red Sox, but
- 5:23Speaker 1: come on, they look better than they did the first
- 5:25Speaker 1: part of the season. And you know why, it's also
- 5:29Speaker 1: important to get the ship shop shave defense because that's
- 5:34Speaker 1: a great way to honor C. C. Sabathia's induction into
- 5:37Speaker 1: Cooperstown this weekend. I the MLB know what they did,
- 5:41Speaker 1: know what they were doing when they scheduled the Phillies
- 5:43Speaker 1: and the Yankees for induction weekend, because that's the team
- 5:46Speaker 1: the Yanks beat. That's the team CC beat to get
- 5:49Speaker 1: the ring in two thousand and nine. How fitting is that?
- 5:53Speaker 1: And to truly honor this induction, it's not just by
- 5:57Speaker 1: maybe playing on the big screen, you know, because the
- 6:00Speaker 1: games at one point thirty maybe they'll play before. But
- 6:04Speaker 1: but it's to play clean baseball. It's to capitalize on
- 6:09Speaker 1: mistakes from the other side. But more importantly, it's to
- 6:12Speaker 1: play clean baseball. CC's career, he played it pretty damn good.
- 6:20Speaker 1: He I think he was a good fielder too, if
- 6:22Speaker 1: I'm not mistaken. But he played clean baseball so much
- 6:26Speaker 1: that he's a Hall of Famer now and we need
- 6:30Speaker 1: that CC type energy where that guy came to the
- 6:33Speaker 1: rotation in two thousand and nine really led the Yanks
- 6:36Speaker 1: to beyond just the playoffs. He led them in the
- 6:38Speaker 1: World Series in nine and beyond. He's a franchise turner arounder.
- 6:46Speaker 1: He turned around the Indians franchise, he turned around the
- 6:48Speaker 1: Brewers franchise, and he turned on the Aanks franchise as ours.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I'm concerned. So now at the perfect time for a
- 6:55Speaker 1: turnaround energy where we sit down, we take our fielding practice,
- 7:01Speaker 1: and we don't look sloppy. It would be a terrible
- 7:04Speaker 1: thing on the day seasons about the of the weekend season,
- 7:07Speaker 1: Abat is inductive to play sloppy baseball. That would that
- 7:11Speaker 1: would really uh make the Boss spin in his grave,
- 7:16Speaker 1: if you will. Because it's time. It's clutch time. The Yanks.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Avoiding a sleep a sweep is huge, but then they
- 7:27Speaker 1: fell asleep yesterday. But avoiding a sweep was huge. You
- 7:31Speaker 1: don't want to go into Toronto losing all seven games,
- 7:35Speaker 1: after losing all four the first weekend of July, first
- 7:38Speaker 1: week of July, so you're now one in in a month,
- 7:44Speaker 1: you're what one in six against the Blue Jays. That's
- 7:48Speaker 1: still not to me acceptable. But at least they didn't
- 7:52Speaker 1: get swept this time. At least they snapped a home
- 7:54Speaker 1: win streak which was kind of started by the Yanks
- 7:56Speaker 1: getting swept in Toronto back in early July. But now
- 8:04Speaker 1: is the time to shape up and turn around the
- 8:07Speaker 1: season as you honor a man who turned around your franchise,
- 8:11Speaker 1: even if it was just that wondering year. Look what
- 8:14Speaker 1: he did for the Yankees. He even earned his two
- 8:19Speaker 1: hundred and fifty eighth and two hundred and fifty first
- 8:21Speaker 1: career wins with you guys. And to play ship shape
- 8:26Speaker 1: tip top baseball and fundamentally win would be a great
- 8:31Speaker 1: way to honor him. And I would say honor the
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yankees franchise. What does mister Steibaner say? What did he say?
- 8:39Speaker 1: He said it, And I'll play it again. When you
- 8:41Speaker 1: put the pin stripes on, you're not just putting a
- 8:43Speaker 1: baseball uniform on. You're wearing tradition and you're wearing pride,
- 8:48Speaker 1: and you're gonna wear it the right way. And four
- 8:51Speaker 1: errors is not Yankees' pride. So it's time to get
- 8:56Speaker 1: tip chop shaped ahead of this weekend, and then I
- 8:59Speaker 1: guess should say ahead of old timers weekend as well,
- 9:02Speaker 1: because you don't want to put up a bad performance
- 9:04Speaker 1: in front of the veterans of the team that have
- 9:06Speaker 1: continued the Yankee legacy. And one last note, and I'll
- 9:13Speaker 1: say it again un till I'm bluing the face. Josane leadoff.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Something happens. It magically sparks this team when he's a leadoff.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Why isn't there consistency at the top. I keep coming
- 9:24Speaker 1: back to this, but it feels right. It feels right
- 9:30Speaker 1: to say Jason should still be lead off, but he
- 9:32Speaker 1: had a homer last night. It's time. It's time to
- 9:38Speaker 1: just choose him his lead off and get everybody together
- 9:41Speaker 1: and not just get by on the wins you get,
- 9:43Speaker 1: but actually sit down as a uniform group, as a core,
- 9:48Speaker 1: and say, let's play clean baseball, let's play sharp baseball,
- 9:57Speaker 1: and let's have one leg up on fundamentals. As really
- 10:01Speaker 1: we're right near the playoff push coming soon. Ti time
- 10:07Speaker 1: is now to get those one leg up un fundamentals.
