- 0:00Speaker 1: Live from Israel is a special edition of Sharing.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Welcome to the show from the ancient city of Jerusalem.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Here in Israel, Benjaminette Yahoo is trying to kill the terrorists,
- 0:15Speaker 2: while back home, Albinizi is issuing visas to Palestinians with
- 0:19Speaker 2: links to her mus and Palestinian Islamic Jihat. This massive
- 0:24Speaker 2: story exploded in Question Time today.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Prime Minister has the visa for the individual been canceled?
- 0:35Speaker 2: Albinizi is putting Australians in danger through his reckless visa program.
- 0:40Speaker 2: He should visit Israel to look around at the devastation
- 0:44Speaker 2: terrorism can cause. Now I'm going to come back to
- 0:47Speaker 2: this topic in a moment tonight. I'm also going to
- 0:49Speaker 2: bring you the story of a newborn baby who was
- 0:52Speaker 2: only nine days old when her musk stormed his home.
- 0:57Speaker 2: The terrorists set the house alight, but baby Kai's mum
- 1:01Speaker 2: saved him by putting him up on a window seal.
- 1:05Speaker 2: This is a story of a miracle survival, one of
- 1:09Speaker 2: the rare happy endings on that dark day. Joining me
- 1:13Speaker 2: here in Jerusalem on the show tonight, Colonel Richard Kemp,
- 1:16Speaker 2: who commanded British forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. This comes
- 1:20Speaker 2: as Israel weighs its response to the Iranian missile strikes,
- 1:25Speaker 2: while Biden once a cease fire a month out from
- 1:29Speaker 2: the US election. Also joining me here a mother whose
- 1:33Speaker 2: son was murdered at the Nova Music Festival. His dream
- 1:37Speaker 2: was to visit Australia and his mum has honored his
- 1:40Speaker 2: memory by making that trip. Plus Richo and Michael Kroger
- 1:45Speaker 2: will fire up about all the news back home, including
- 1:49Speaker 2: how a high profile restaurant owner has been arrested. No
- 1:53Speaker 2: one will be dining at his restaurants anymore. But first Benjainetta,
- 1:59Speaker 2: who has declared that Israel has taken out the leadership
- 2:03Speaker 2: of Hesbelah in a video message to the Lebanese people, Nettigna,
- 2:07Speaker 2: who said he'd eliminated the leaders of the terror group.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Israel has a right to defend itself. Israel also has
- 2:15Speaker 4: a right to win, and Israel will win. We've degraded
- 2:19Speaker 4: Kbela's capabilities. We took out thousands of terrorists, including Nsuelo
- 2:23Speaker 4: himself and Osuelo's replacement and the replacement of his replacement.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Today Kbela is weaker than it's been for many, many years.
- 2:35Speaker 2: As you heard there, Israel not only took out Hesbelah's
- 2:38Speaker 2: leader of thirty two years, Hassan Nasralla, but his successor,
- 2:42Speaker 2: Hasham Savidin. They also bombed the terror group's intelligence headquarters
- 2:47Speaker 2: in Beirut and three thousand fighters were injured when their
- 2:51Speaker 2: pages exploded well. In his video message last night, Netna
- 2:57Speaker 2: who made an appeal for peace, He implored to Lebanese
- 3:00Speaker 2: people to take back their country from Hezbela control.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Don't let these terrorists destroy your future anymore than they've
- 3:08Speaker 4: already done. Stand up and take your country back. You
- 3:12Speaker 4: have an opportunity that hasn't existed in decades, an opportunity
- 3:17Speaker 4: to take care of the future of your children and grandchildren.
- 3:21Speaker 4: You have an opportunity to save Lebanon before it falls
- 3:24Speaker 4: into the abyss of a long war that will lead
- 3:27Speaker 4: to destruction and suffering like we see in Gaza. It
- 3:31Speaker 4: doesn't have to be that way. Each of you can
- 3:34Speaker 4: take a step for your future, even a small step,
- 3:37Speaker 4: you can make a difference. I say to you, the
- 3:40Speaker 4: people of Lebanon, free your country from Krisbala so that
- 3:44Speaker 4: this war can end. Free your country from Hrisbala. Said
- 3:48Speaker 4: that your country could prosper again, so that future generations
- 3:51Speaker 4: of Lebanese and Israeli children will know neither war nor bloodshed,
- 3:56Speaker 4: but will finally live together in peace.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Israel has no quarrel with Lebanon, only with Hesbela and
- 4:05Speaker 2: its Bacha Iran. Israel's success in decimating the Hesbela leadership
- 4:11Speaker 2: and thousands of terrorists has been swift. It's one of
- 4:15Speaker 2: the incredible military feats of our time. First the pager
- 4:20Speaker 2: and walkie talkie attacks and then the most brilliant of all,
- 4:24Speaker 2: killing Nasrallah while he was watching Netanyahu deliver his United
- 4:28Speaker 2: Nations address. And it appears that israel strikes against the
- 4:32Speaker 2: Hesbela leadership may have achieved a significant breakthrough. The terror
- 4:37Speaker 2: group just last night said it was prepared to enter
- 4:40Speaker 2: cease fire talks. This is an important development. The US
- 4:44Speaker 2: State Department said it showed Hesbela was and I quote,
- 4:48Speaker 2: getting bat it and now on the back foot. So
- 4:52Speaker 2: Israel's focus right now is shifting to Iran. There are
- 4:56Speaker 2: live talks with America about striking Iran in retaliation for
- 5:01Speaker 2: the two hundred ballistic missiles it launched last week against Israel.
- 5:06Speaker 2: There's a push from some Israeli politicians to go hard
- 5:10Speaker 2: and to strike Iran's nuclear facilities. Israeli politicians like Naftali
- 5:15Speaker 2: Bennett and Sharen Haskell told me this needs to be
- 5:18Speaker 2: done before the evil regime develops nuclear weapons.
- 5:24Speaker 5: So Iran is laid open and now is the exact
- 5:29Speaker 5: time that we must attack. We must take out the
- 5:32Speaker 5: nuclear program or at least as severely damage it.
- 5:35Speaker 6: We need to target those nuclear reactors that Iran has
- 5:38Speaker 6: been building.
- 5:39Speaker 1: For years now.
- 5:40Speaker 2: There's been many voices, including mine and my party members
- 5:43Speaker 2: to try and advocate for that, and Canadian Opposition leader
- 5:51Speaker 2: Pierre Poliev agrees.
- 5:54Speaker 7: I think the idea of allowing a genocidal, theocratic, unstable
- 6:03Speaker 7: dictatorship that is desperate to avoid being overthrown by its
- 6:08Speaker 7: own people to develop nuclear weapons is about the most
- 6:12Speaker 7: dangerous and irresponsible thing that the world could ever allow.
- 6:17Speaker 7: And if Israel were to stop that genocidal, theocratic, unstable
- 6:24Speaker 7: government from acquiring nuclear weapons, it would be a gift
- 6:29Speaker 7: by the Jewish state to humanity.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Well, he has an excellent point, and that's rare strength
- 6:38Speaker 2: from a Western leader, But there's an American election coming up,
- 6:41Speaker 2: and Joe Biden doesn't want to go to war with
- 6:44Speaker 2: Iran less than a month from polling day. Instead, he
- 6:48Speaker 2: reportedly wants a ceasefire. The relationship between Biden and Ettenyahoo
- 6:54Speaker 2: has deteriorated in recent months. Biden telephoned Israeli President Isaaczog
- 7:00Speaker 2: and not Netan Yahoo on the anniversary of October seven,
- 7:04Speaker 2: and a new book by Watergate journalist Bob Woodward claims
- 7:08Speaker 2: that Biden yelled at Netanyahoo after he eliminated a Hesbela commander.
- 7:14Speaker 2: It also claims that Biden called the Israeli Prime Minister
- 7:18Speaker 2: a liar when Israel sent troops into Rafa. And Israel
- 7:22Speaker 2: was right to do that, by the way, because they
- 7:25Speaker 2: rescued hostages in Rafa in a daring mission. But Biden
- 7:29Speaker 2: has been more worried about American politics then bringing home
- 7:33Speaker 2: the hostages, even though some of them are US citizens
- 7:37Speaker 2: or fighting off terrorists. And in Australia, Albanesi is even worse.
- 7:43Speaker 2: While Israel is trying to defeat the terrorists, it seems
- 7:46Speaker 2: Albanzi is bringing people into Australia who have links to Hermas.
- 7:52Speaker 2: The Albanzi government gave a visa to a Palestinian man
- 7:57Speaker 2: who had hosted her Musk leadership, and whose brothers and
- 8:00Speaker 2: sons were active members of Palestinian Islamic jihat. The Coalition
- 8:06Speaker 2: hounded Albinizi over this outrageous decision in Question Time Today.
- 8:12Speaker 3: In two thousand and nineteen, El Hassani reportedly hosted a
- 8:15Speaker 3: summit of terror organization leaders, which he opened by stating,
- 8:20Speaker 3: they must quote I quote confront the occupation by all
- 8:24Speaker 3: possible means. Prime Minister, has the visa of this individual
- 8:30Speaker 3: been canceled?
- 8:31Speaker 8: Have any of the tourist visas granted to those coming
- 8:34Speaker 8: from the terrorist controlled gars of war Zone since October seven,
- 8:39Speaker 8: twenty twenty three being canceled?
- 8:41Speaker 3: Prime Minister, does supporting hamas pass the character test for
- 8:47Speaker 3: an Australian visa?
- 8:51Speaker 2: You can hardly get a more serious issue. But the
- 8:53Speaker 2: Prime Minister didn't bother to answer. He just handed over
- 8:57Speaker 2: to Tony Burke.
- 8:59Speaker 8: The process for all of these visas for people who've
- 9:02Speaker 8: come from Palestine has been exactly the same for every
- 9:05Speaker 8: one of them. If at any point our security agencies
- 9:09Speaker 8: gave advice to the government that a visa should be canceled,
- 9:12Speaker 8: then the government, of course would take seriously that advice.
- 9:17Speaker 8: Security agencies never stopped collecting information.
- 9:21Speaker 2: The Prime Minister is now under pressure to cancel this visa,
- 9:25Speaker 2: but Tony Burke has already made it clear he wouldn't
- 9:27Speaker 2: send anyone back to Gaza. Well, perhaps these muppets should
- 9:31Speaker 2: have thought about this before they issued nearly three thousand
- 9:35Speaker 2: visas to Palestinians without proper security checks. They're just not
- 9:41Speaker 2: that bright in the Albanzi government. Well. Being here in
- 9:45Speaker 2: Israel during this war, visiting the sites of bloody massacres,
- 9:50Speaker 2: seeing the safe rooms riddled with bullet holes, I tell
- 9:54Speaker 2: you it makes me feel even more angry that the
- 9:57Speaker 2: Albanezi government has put us all at risk by issuing
- 10:01Speaker 2: these three thousand visas with inadequate vetting. This is a
- 10:06Speaker 2: government making dangerous and reckless decisions, decisions that are disastrous
- 10:12Speaker 2: for social cohesion. By deliberately bringing people to our country
- 10:16Speaker 2: who may hate Jews and Westerners, who may support a genocidal,
- 10:22Speaker 2: murderous regime. And if there are any Hermas supporters among
- 10:26Speaker 2: the Gohort they've brought to Australia, well this could endanger
- 10:31Speaker 2: all of our lives. Our children deserve better, Australia deserves better.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Now this next story I'm about to bring you is
- 10:47Speaker 2: one of courage, bravery, and resilience. It's how a mum
- 10:52Speaker 2: saved her newborn baby while terrorists were banging on the
- 10:56Speaker 2: door of her safe room. Have a look.
- 11:04Speaker 9: We were around about six thirty in the morning. Sirens
- 11:08Speaker 9: started going off and Amy called me. I was in
- 11:11Speaker 9: another bedroom and she was sleeping in the safe room
- 11:14Speaker 9: and she called me to come, so I picked up
- 11:17Speaker 9: my phone. Funny enough, my little dog got scared and
- 11:21Speaker 9: he ran into the living room under the couch. I
- 11:24Speaker 9: ran to the room and I'm on the bed with
- 11:27Speaker 9: Amy and her husband, Duriel, and I'm laughing because I said, wow, look,
- 11:31Speaker 9: I'm in bed with my daughter and her husband. And
- 11:34Speaker 9: I was asking and Ariel said, don't worry, and ten
- 11:36Speaker 9: minutes we'll be having our early morning coffee. And he
- 11:41Speaker 9: just went on and on and on and at some stage,
- 11:45Speaker 9: I mean very close to then Amy decides to look
- 11:48Speaker 9: at her phone at the camera from the living room
- 11:52Speaker 9: and she said to me, they're trying to get in
- 11:56Speaker 9: the Hamas terrorists are trying to get in.
- 12:00Speaker 10: We felt the house shake when they were trying to
- 12:03Speaker 10: push in the door and break.
- 12:04Speaker 1: It down, but they couldn't.
- 12:06Speaker 11: So what they did, is that they just shot at
- 12:09Speaker 11: the lock of the door.
- 12:10Speaker 10: And that's exactly the same time that the electricity just
- 12:13Speaker 10: went out.
- 12:14Speaker 9: We all went into to do what we had to do.
- 12:17Speaker 9: I took the baby and I put my finger in
- 12:21Speaker 9: his mouth to soothe him and to stop him crying.
- 12:25Speaker 9: And he was only being breastfed, so you know, there
- 12:27Speaker 9: was a bottle or anything. And Amy and Uriel instinctively,
- 12:31Speaker 9: I don't know how new to hold the handle of
- 12:34Speaker 9: the of the safe door up.
- 12:37Speaker 2: They managed to put it just like price, it's just
- 12:40Speaker 2: a crack.
- 12:42Speaker 9: But if you can imagine you've got these monster fighters
- 12:48Speaker 9: on one side, and you've got.
- 12:49Speaker 1: This woman who's just had a babe.
- 12:52Speaker 2: That's what I can't believe that you had the strength
- 12:56Speaker 2: to win in that battle against the terrorists keeping the
- 12:59Speaker 2: door shut.
- 12:59Speaker 9: Yeah, and of course she had a difficult birth, so
- 13:02Speaker 9: it wasn't an easy birth. But one has to understand
- 13:05Speaker 9: that Amy is a black built in karate and club maga,
- 13:11Speaker 9: and she was a fighter in the.
- 13:13Speaker 12: Army and probably a mother's survival instinct for her child
- 13:18Speaker 12: and the adrenaline of.
- 13:19Speaker 9: The moment, yeah for sure, for sure.
- 13:22Speaker 12: Clap Kai clap, So they couldn't get into the safe room,
- 13:33Speaker 12: and instead they lit the house on fire.
- 13:35Speaker 1: And they just dragged the furniture to that heard them
- 13:40Speaker 1: do it.
- 13:40Speaker 11: And then suddenly we.
- 13:42Speaker 10: See through the little crowd and see flames, and my
- 13:45Speaker 10: husband says, they're burning the house.
- 13:50Speaker 2: And then I guess they ran out.
- 13:52Speaker 13: We were left to die.
- 13:58Speaker 9: Then, unfortunately, we heard my dog scream and until he died.
- 14:04Speaker 9: I don't know if it was two minutes or ten minutes,
- 14:07Speaker 9: however long it took for them my little dog to die.
- 14:11Speaker 2: You heard him burn to death in the I screamed.
- 14:13Speaker 9: He just screamed and screamed. And after that point, I
- 14:18Speaker 9: just wasn't there anymore. So for the next you have
- 14:24Speaker 9: to ask gaming because I was on the floor, face
- 14:27Speaker 9: sixsels this disassociated with.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Just so distressed.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I think I just.
- 14:35Speaker 9: Prepared myself to die. That if I'd have died, I
- 14:38Speaker 9: wouldn't have felt the pain or the burning or I
- 14:42Speaker 9: don't know. It's what my therapist is helping me deal
- 14:46Speaker 9: with and come to terms with and understand, because I
- 14:50Speaker 9: still don't really understand it.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I don't understand why I couldn't help them.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Why I.
- 15:02Speaker 13: Why I gave up that maybe if I hadn't a
- 15:05Speaker 13: given up, maybe I would have been the one to
- 15:06Speaker 13: jump out the window or freak out. So you don't
- 15:09Speaker 13: know if it was a good thing or a bad thing,
- 15:13Speaker 13: but I do know that I wasn't there to help them.
- 15:15Speaker 13: In fact, Amy, she's not only got to look after
- 15:18Speaker 13: a baby, but she's got to look after a mom
- 15:21Speaker 13: as well.
- 15:21Speaker 2: And drag me to the window.
- 15:23Speaker 12: To breathe and so Amy, what advice did the fire
- 15:29Speaker 12: brigade give you when you spoke.
- 15:30Speaker 10: To them, Well, first of all, you wanted to know
- 15:35Speaker 10: what the situation was with the smoke.
- 15:37Speaker 1: So what he told me was.
- 15:40Speaker 11: If we see the ceiling, we're still okay.
- 15:44Speaker 1: The smoke rises.
- 15:46Speaker 11: So I mean, mainly it's to try and block the
- 15:49Speaker 11: door with anything that was by the door most of
- 15:53Speaker 11: the time because I was afraid that they were going
- 15:55Speaker 11: to try and come in again.
- 15:57Speaker 14: Yeah, so I just kept up so we were still
- 15:59Speaker 14: holding When it got too art, I just took like
- 16:02Speaker 14: clothes and held the handles and clothes and my husband
- 16:06Speaker 14: held Kai by the window.
- 16:08Speaker 10: Eventually the firefighter said, look, you have to get into
- 16:11Speaker 10: fresh air if it's possible.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Cat a little opening in the.
- 16:16Speaker 14: Window and just putting up against.
- 16:19Speaker 1: It and let him breathe.
- 16:21Speaker 10: I mean, there was soot coming out in his mouth
- 16:23Speaker 10: and nose. Every time each of us held him up.
- 16:27Speaker 11: To the window, we would look out to see if
- 16:30Speaker 11: there were any terrorists. And then around two o'clock, maybe
- 16:35Speaker 11: just before two o'clock in the afternoon, there's me in
- 16:39Speaker 11: at the window with Kai.
- 16:42Speaker 10: Too tired to hold him out, so I just lay
- 16:44Speaker 10: him on the window still. That's the famous.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Picture of him on the window still. And then I.
- 16:51Speaker 11: See, oh, I first hear them, I hear.
- 16:53Speaker 10: Hebrew, and then I look at and I see soldiers
- 16:57Speaker 10: going through house to house, and I just take a
- 17:01Speaker 10: beef clothing and I just wave it out the window.
- 17:03Speaker 1: And I didn't say, there they are.
- 17:05Speaker 11: They're at the window, and I just knew that they
- 17:07Speaker 11: were looking for us.
- 17:09Speaker 1: They knew we were there, and they were there for us.
- 17:14Speaker 2: And that must have been the most incredible feeling.
- 17:16Speaker 1: It just made me be. It gave me the ability
- 17:22Speaker 1: to breathe.
- 17:23Speaker 11: You know, if you were holding.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Your breath until that one moment, and.
- 17:27Speaker 11: He knew that they were there for you and they
- 17:30Speaker 11: were going to see you.
- 17:32Speaker 2: So you saved Kay's life by letting him get that
- 17:37Speaker 2: air on the window.
- 17:38Speaker 10: Doing probably the one most dangerous thing we could.
- 17:41Speaker 5: Have got.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Such an incredible story and it's so nice that there's
- 17:53Speaker 2: at least one positive story to come out of October seven.
- 17:57Speaker 10: Well.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Colonel Richard Camp is a distinguished commander who led British
- 18:00Speaker 2: forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. He has in depth experience
- 18:05Speaker 2: dealing with the threat of terror and place to say,
- 18:07Speaker 2: he joins me here in Jerusalem. Now, first of all,
- 18:10Speaker 2: before we get onto Hesbla, I want to ask you
- 18:13Speaker 2: about the Palestinian visa issue. I've been speaking about how
- 18:17Speaker 2: the Albanesi government has issued nearly three thousand visas to
- 18:21Speaker 2: Gazans without adequate security vetting. What do you think about this?
- 18:25Speaker 15: I think it's absolutely shocking. The first duty of any
- 18:28Speaker 15: government is to protect its people, and clearly the Australian
- 18:31Speaker 15: government in this case is betraying its people. Who do
- 18:34Speaker 15: they think is going to get out of Gaza. It
- 18:38Speaker 15: takes a lot of money to get out of Gaza today,
- 18:40Speaker 15: and the people with money in Gaza are the people
- 18:42Speaker 15: connected to Hamas, so you can guarantee I would suggest
- 18:45Speaker 15: that the majority of those people, possibly all of them,
- 18:48Speaker 15: are going to have Hamas connections and probably Hamas sympathies
- 18:52Speaker 15: and therefore they will potentially, at least some of them
- 18:55Speaker 15: will endanger citizens within Australia.
- 18:58Speaker 2: And even without that, I mean, we're seeing such extraordinary
- 19:01Speaker 2: levels of hatred, of violence, of anti Semitism. The idea
- 19:04Speaker 2: of importing the conflicts from here to peaceful Australia is shocking.
- 19:09Speaker 15: Exactly, and we're seeing that the world. Oh we're seeing
- 19:12Speaker 15: in Britain as well as in Australia and other countries
- 19:14Speaker 15: around the world, where people who have sympathy they don't
- 19:18Speaker 15: care about democracy, they don't care about peace, they have
- 19:21Speaker 15: sympathy with terrorists, and they are intimidating Jewish populations because
- 19:27Speaker 15: of their affinity themselves with Israel.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Now I want to talk to you about the news overnight. Basically,
- 19:33Speaker 2: Hezbla has been beaten into submission. It's now calling for
- 19:36Speaker 2: a cease fire without Israel moving away from Gaza, which
- 19:41Speaker 2: is a huge development.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Isn't it.
- 19:44Speaker 15: It shows the immense damage that the Israelis have done
- 19:48Speaker 15: to his Blah, even just in the last few days,
- 19:51Speaker 15: but certainly over the last year. They've been hitting his
- 19:54Speaker 15: blog very hard in southern Lebanon in particular, but also
- 19:57Speaker 15: in Beirut ever since his blow began its war aggression
- 20:00Speaker 15: against Israel on the eighth of October last year, and
- 20:04Speaker 15: they've effectively decapitated Hisbelot, They've taken out the leader of
- 20:07Speaker 15: his Bol ISRAELA, They've taken up many of the other
- 20:10Speaker 15: senior leaders. And I think in this case, I've never
- 20:13Speaker 15: seen such a widespread and effective campaign of attack against
- 20:18Speaker 15: leadership of an enemy force. I think Prime Minister Netanyahu
- 20:21Speaker 15: here is rewriting the book on targeted warfare.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been utterly extraordinary. There's now debate and it
- 20:28Speaker 2: seems like disagreement between the United States and Israel about
- 20:32Speaker 2: exactly what the retaliation strikes against Iran should look like.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Do you think Israel should be targeting the nuclear sites
- 20:40Speaker 2: to stop Iran developing nuclear weapons.
- 20:43Speaker 15: Israel certainly should do that. Whether it's whether now is
- 20:45Speaker 15: the time or not is an open question, Because, of course,
- 20:49Speaker 15: to do the maximum damage to Iran's nuclear program, it
- 20:52Speaker 15: does need military support from the US. It can do damage,
- 20:55Speaker 15: and I think it should try and do some damage.
- 20:57Speaker 15: But there are other targets as well that can be hit,
- 21:00Speaker 15: and those include energy installations like oil and gas. They
- 21:03Speaker 15: include military bases, military facilities and capabilities, and all of
- 21:07Speaker 15: these should be among the target raiser Israel choosers. Whatever
- 21:11Speaker 15: they decide to hit, they should hit them very very hard.
- 21:14Speaker 15: Last April, after Iran fired about three hundred plus missiles
- 21:20Speaker 15: and drones at Israel, Israel responded with a light touch.
- 21:24Speaker 15: It didn't have the right effect because they not at all.
- 21:28Speaker 15: So now they've got to deter and they've got to
- 21:30Speaker 15: hit them, in my view, very very hard.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Indeed, it doesn't seem to be the appetite from international leadership,
- 21:36Speaker 2: whether it's Joe Biden in the United States and his
- 21:39Speaker 2: VP Kamala Harris, whether it's in Britain, in France and Germany, Canada, Australia.
- 21:44Speaker 2: What's your comment on the international leadership we're seeing at
- 21:47Speaker 2: the moment in the face of this very real terror threat.
- 21:50Speaker 15: The leaders in these Western countries understand the threat, they
- 21:53Speaker 15: know that Israel's doing the right thing. They're just afraid
- 21:57Speaker 15: of a country standing up for itself. They've forgotten how
- 22:01Speaker 15: a country needs to stand up for itself to survive.
- 22:03Speaker 15: It hasn't been a problem for most of these countries
- 22:05Speaker 15: so many years, and their priority now is to appease
- 22:09Speaker 15: the anti Israel mobs who are in the minority in
- 22:13Speaker 15: our countries, but they're allowed and vocal minority, and they
- 22:16Speaker 15: want to appease them, and particularly so in the United
- 22:19Speaker 15: States where the election is coming up.
- 22:20Speaker 2: It's amazing how strong Benjamin Netti, who looks compared to
- 22:25Speaker 2: some of these other leaders.
- 22:27Speaker 15: I haven't got the exact quote, but somebody in Australia
- 22:31Speaker 15: said yesterday, I believe that Netanya who is the Churchill
- 22:35Speaker 15: of our day, not the Chamberlain of our day, And
- 22:38Speaker 15: I think that's absolutely right. He's an extremely strong leader.
- 22:42Speaker 15: He's been criticized and vilified around the world by other leaders,
- 22:45Speaker 15: including President Biden, but everything he's done has shown to
- 22:49Speaker 15: be right and proved to be right. And when you
- 22:51Speaker 15: have his ballaar almost offering to have a ceasefire, when
- 22:55Speaker 15: you have, for example, I think President is Sad in
- 22:58Speaker 15: Syria has spoken about getting Iranian militias out of his country.
- 23:03Speaker 15: You know, you have a very very nervous Iran now
- 23:06Speaker 15: which doesn't really know what to do. This shows that
- 23:10Speaker 15: Netanyahu's strategy is on the right foot. And you know, okay,
- 23:15Speaker 15: Gaza has gone on for a long time now that
- 23:17Speaker 15: war has gone a long time. But it's a very
- 23:19Speaker 15: complex war. But Israel's been extremely successful in that war.
- 23:23Speaker 2: I mean, a lot of international leaders are urging YETNYA
- 23:25Speaker 2: who to wrap up the war, but the fact remains
- 23:28Speaker 2: there are one hundred hostages still being held in Gaza,
- 23:31Speaker 2: so Israel needs to bring those hostages home before it
- 23:34Speaker 2: can pack up and go home.
- 23:36Speaker 15: Israel must do everything it can. But I believe it's
- 23:39Speaker 15: been doing everything it can to both defeat Hamas and
- 23:42Speaker 15: bring the hostages back, and it must continue that campaign.
- 23:45Speaker 15: There's obviously a friction between those two objectives, but they
- 23:49Speaker 15: are potentially both achievable and as far as his Blas concerned,
- 23:53Speaker 15: As far as Lebanon's concerned, we're hearing also from politicians
- 23:57Speaker 15: in Lebanon huge dissatisfaction now with Iran actually with his
- 24:00Speaker 15: blare and speaking out against it. Now is not the time,
- 24:03Speaker 15: in my view, to come to any cease foreign level,
- 24:06Speaker 15: and now is the time to smash the hell out
- 24:09Speaker 15: of his BLA as effectively and as violently as they can,
- 24:13Speaker 15: because if you don't, if you have a ceasefire now
- 24:15Speaker 15: without having guarantees of withdrawal of his balla to the North,
- 24:19Speaker 15: without having guarantees of disarmament of his BLA. All you're
- 24:22Speaker 15: doing is kicking the can down the road instead of
- 24:24Speaker 15: doing what you need to do is just to smash
- 24:26Speaker 15: the caunterpieces.
- 24:27Speaker 2: It's fascinating how they continually call for a ceasepy and
- 24:31Speaker 2: for you know, abiding by international agreements. But the reality
- 24:35Speaker 2: is after the Second Lebanon Will there was the United
- 24:37Speaker 2: Nations seven oh one resolution which said that Hezbela needs
- 24:41Speaker 2: to remain north of the Latiny River. They haven't done that.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Instead they militarize the south. Yet the media around the
- 24:48Speaker 2: world presented as somehow Israel being the aggressor. I mean,
- 24:52Speaker 2: being here in Israel, and you've been in Israel for
- 24:54Speaker 2: most of the past year, you see that there are
- 24:57Speaker 2: hundreds of rockets a day target Israel in the north,
- 25:01Speaker 2: targeting families in the north.
- 25:03Speaker 15: There was a massive barrage only yesterday against Haifa further
- 25:07Speaker 15: south in Israel. Fortunately the idea of for got the
- 25:10Speaker 15: capability of intercepting most of these missiles. But you can't
- 25:15Speaker 15: be it can never be one hundred percent. And I
- 25:18Speaker 15: think you know the key issue here is not just
- 25:22Speaker 15: Resolution seventeen seventy one, which you mentioned which requires his
- 25:27Speaker 15: blat to withdraw north of the Litani River, about eighteen
- 25:30Speaker 15: miles north of the Israeli border. There's also a previous resolution,
- 25:34Speaker 15: I think it's fifteen fifty nine something like that, which
- 25:36Speaker 15: required the disarmament of Isbela. Neither of these two things
- 25:40Speaker 15: have happened. And the UNIFIL United Nations Peacekeeping Organization has
- 25:45Speaker 15: twelve thousand peacekeepers or had twelve thousand peacekeepers in Lebanon
- 25:49Speaker 15: whose job is to enforce it. Yet it hasn't happened.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Yeah, and no cause for a ceasefire.
- 25:54Speaker 2: By the way, while Hezbela was firing, Israel or anyone's
- 25:57Speaker 2: rostouts response. Good to see you, klonelpreciate your time, Jimmy Jerusalem,
- 26:01Speaker 2: thank you very much. Well, plenty more to come. How
- 26:04Speaker 2: damaged is alban easy? After his humiliating apology over at
- 26:08Speaker 2: Tourette's syndrome insult in Parliament, Rich Oh and Michael Kroger
- 26:13Speaker 2: would join me shortly. Plus, a mother whose son was
- 26:16Speaker 2: murdered at the Nova Music Festival will be on the show.
- 26:20Speaker 2: She'll tell us about her trip to Australia in her
- 26:23Speaker 2: son's honor. That's after this quick break. Welcome back well. Mum.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Tully Kishner's son Segev, just twenty two, was killed by
- 26:36Speaker 2: hermas at the Nova Music Festival. Tully woke up in
- 26:40Speaker 2: the morning, heard something was wrong and was madly texting
- 26:44Speaker 2: her son, but he never answered. He'd sadly been murdered,
- 26:49Speaker 2: and Tully joins me here now, thank you very much
- 26:52Speaker 2: for being here. Tell me what happened to Segev on
- 26:55Speaker 2: the morning of October seven.
- 26:58Speaker 6: It took us about four days to understand what happened.
- 27:04Speaker 1: At first, we had no clue. We were seeking for
- 27:07Speaker 1: any piece of information.
- 27:09Speaker 6: Getting very terrifying, horrifying messages from the media, and you know,
- 27:18Speaker 6: people were trying to understand what's going on. Where my
- 27:22Speaker 6: husband went to the hospitals and we knew that he
- 27:26Speaker 6: was not wounded. So after two days we understood that
- 27:30Speaker 6: either he has been killed or maybe he was kidnapped
- 27:35Speaker 6: and he's kept us a hostage. But on the fourth day,
- 27:40Speaker 6: his friend that was together with him knocked on the door.
- 27:44Speaker 6: He was very heavily wounded, early standing and he told
- 27:51Speaker 6: us that he was.
- 27:54Speaker 1: With in this shelter and he.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Was lying under the sag of his body for six
- 28:02Speaker 2: hours and say.
- 28:05Speaker 6: It was it was Dad, for sure, and that was
- 28:10Speaker 6: the way that we got them.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Use so sorry, Tally, so so tough, and especially one
- 28:16Speaker 2: year on and you're reliving it all and retelling the stories.
- 28:21Speaker 1: You managed to retrieve.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Some recordings from the shelter. Can you tell us about
- 28:25Speaker 2: those recordings now?
- 28:28Speaker 6: At every opportunity, I'm saying that we're really privileged. There
- 28:33Speaker 6: were privileged in the way that we had an opportunity
- 28:36Speaker 6: to see the last goodbye to our son. We privileged
- 28:41Speaker 6: because we had the grieve to come and quiet, and
- 28:45Speaker 6: we're privileged that we had a precious opportunity to know
- 28:50Speaker 6: me by minute what happened to him, because it's the
- 28:53Speaker 6: courage of his friends, one of his friends who is survivor,
- 28:58Speaker 6: Ima Shapir, and another friend who was tragically killed near him.
- 29:05Speaker 6: I yelled, and she was a young reporter, uh and
- 29:09Speaker 6: and she just went when this horri final texts started,
- 29:12Speaker 6: she pressed the button and she has recorded.
- 29:16Speaker 1: All the event, minute by minute of this horror says So.
- 29:25Speaker 2: It must be so hard to listen to that.
- 29:27Speaker 1: It's another difficult Yeah.
- 29:28Speaker 6: Yeah, I couldn't, of course listen for all the recorded once.
- 29:34Speaker 6: It took me a lot of time and of course
- 29:36Speaker 6: I couldn't. I couldn't listen to this at home. I
- 29:40Speaker 6: was taking my phone to the cemetery and just being
- 29:43Speaker 6: with Saga together, was trying to listen to this. And
- 29:47Speaker 6: you know, the main thing is there there were twenty
- 29:50Speaker 6: seven people there in the bone shelter. There were different
- 29:55Speaker 6: people from difficult different political around.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Different political views. There were Muslims, there were Jews.
- 30:05Speaker 16: They were really very precious Israel, very small Israel in
- 30:11Speaker 16: this bone shelter, and they were so respectful to each other.
- 30:16Speaker 6: They were so loving, caring and and unbelievably human to
- 30:22Speaker 6: each other. They were taking care and Annel Shapire was
- 30:27Speaker 6: throwing the grenades outside the bone shelter and when he
- 30:32Speaker 6: when he was killed, my son was just behind.
- 30:38Speaker 1: He was taking care of.
- 30:40Speaker 6: This, uh, you know interaction here they were trying to
- 30:43Speaker 6: kill the police.
- 30:45Speaker 1: They were superheroes. They were simply super so.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Brave, so brave.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Tali.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Now you've done an incredible installation at the airport here
- 30:55Speaker 2: in Tel Aviv in honor of your son Angels. Can
- 30:58Speaker 2: you tell us about this artwork.
- 31:00Speaker 17: Yeah, I think that our Israel is bleeding, and the
- 31:06Speaker 17: main thing we need to do is stand together and.
- 31:10Speaker 2: You know, the.
- 31:13Speaker 6: Loss is incredible, and it started on the October sevens
- 31:17Speaker 6: but it's going on every day. We have funerals, we
- 31:20Speaker 6: have memorial services, and it's a great strategy, and we
- 31:27Speaker 6: wanted to show to the people the beauty of themselves.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Everybody.
- 31:36Speaker 6: They're almost in one thousand and seven hundred people that
- 31:40Speaker 6: were lost during this terrible year, and in their memory,
- 31:45Speaker 6: we want to be united together.
- 31:49Speaker 2: It's so beautiful. Telligence very quickly and tell us you
- 31:52Speaker 2: visited Australia and it had always been your son's dream
- 31:55Speaker 2: to come to our beautiful country.
- 31:57Speaker 17: You have an incredible country, you have so much, so
- 32:01Speaker 17: many loving people and beautiful views, and I really fell.
- 32:06Speaker 6: In love with your country. And I'm worrying all the time.
- 32:09Speaker 6: This one, this is the heart to sell. The director
- 32:12Speaker 6: that had got in Sydney. Bade Silvia and thank you.
- 32:15Speaker 17: So much for being such a great friends of Israel
- 32:19Speaker 17: and stand with us in this very difficult time.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Thank you Tully for being here. Really really appreciate it.
- 32:24Speaker 2: All right, still to come on the show. Albanezi's humiliating
- 32:28Speaker 2: apology over a Turette insult in parliament, plus the high
- 32:32Speaker 2: profile restaurant are charged after holding an anti Semitic sign. Well,
- 32:36Speaker 2: Richo and Michael Kroger will fire up with their views
- 32:39Speaker 2: on this after the break. Okay, let's have a look
- 32:46Speaker 2: at a couple of the big issues dominating Australian politics.
- 32:49Speaker 2: The Prime Minister has been forced to eat a big
- 32:52Speaker 2: slice of humble pie after he was accused of mocking
- 32:55Speaker 2: people with disabilities. Here were his original comments in question time.
- 33:00Speaker 18: The idea that where have you got tourets or something?
- 33:09Speaker 1: You know, you know, you see.
- 33:11Speaker 4: The bamble bamble bab order.
- 33:13Speaker 18: Are we drawing, mister speaker?
- 33:14Speaker 17: Are we draw?
- 33:15Speaker 1: Are we drink? We join and apologize.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Alban Easy returned to the Lower House later and this
- 33:25Speaker 2: is how he apologized.
- 33:27Speaker 18: I made comments that were unkind and hurtful. I knew
- 33:30Speaker 18: it was wrong as soon as I made the comment.
- 33:33Speaker 18: I apologized and I withdrew as soon as I said it.
- 33:37Speaker 18: But it shouldn't have happened. And I also want to
- 33:39Speaker 18: apologize to all Australians who suffer from this disability.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Well, let's bring in now farmer Victorian Liberal Party President
- 33:49Speaker 2: of Michael Kroger and Farmer Labor Minister Gray and Richardson
- 33:53Speaker 2: Welcome gentleman, Michael, this is hypocritical, coming from the man
- 33:57Speaker 2: who promised during the election campaign to do politics differently.
- 34:04Speaker 19: Well, first of all, congratulations show on your extraordinary reporting
- 34:06Speaker 19: from Israel. We've just been outstanding. But on this issue, Look,
- 34:12Speaker 19: it was very unprime ministerial. It was silly, it was childish,
- 34:16Speaker 19: and you know, people with disabilities are not to be mocked.
- 34:19Speaker 19: I mean, that's you know, I mean a number of
- 34:23Speaker 19: people made this point. Jane Hu made this point, I
- 34:25Speaker 19: mean seriously, to make fun of it in Parliament. Yes,
- 34:29Speaker 19: he apologize, but boy, this guy's under a lot of
- 34:32Speaker 19: pressure and it's showing, and it's unfortunately. It's something he'll
- 34:37Speaker 19: never live down, and nor should Penny Wong, who said
- 34:39Speaker 19: the same thing in the Senate a decade ago.
- 34:41Speaker 2: As we know, rich O, surely not even you are
- 34:47Speaker 2: made of elbows, can defend this one.
- 34:50Speaker 20: Now, no one can defend this one. He made a mistake,
- 34:53Speaker 20: he stuffed up, and he's paid a bit of a
- 34:55Speaker 20: penalty for it.
- 35:01Speaker 2: All right, Well, let's turn to this story. This is
- 35:03Speaker 2: a big front page story today and I know it's
- 35:05Speaker 2: shocked a lot of people. I've been shocked by it.
- 35:07Speaker 2: A prominent restaurant. The owner of Nomad in Sydney has
- 35:11Speaker 2: been charged with holding an anti Semitic sign at a
- 35:14Speaker 2: pro Palestinian rally over the weekend. Now New Southeles police
- 35:18Speaker 2: have charged Alan Yasbeck for allegedly holding a sign of
- 35:22Speaker 2: the Israeli flag with the Nazi swastika in the center.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Michael Kroger, everyone has to boycott his restaurants now, Shirley.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Well, I'd hope so.
- 35:34Speaker 19: I mean, this is a man who's equating Jews with Nazis.
- 35:38Speaker 19: What a profoundly ignorant foolless guy is. And his restaurant
- 35:42Speaker 19: on the corner of Collin Street and Queen Street in
- 35:44Speaker 19: Melbourne is a very high and well known restaurant which
- 35:47Speaker 19: I've been to. I'll never be going back there, and
- 35:50Speaker 19: I'll be telling anyone that I know who's been there
- 35:53Speaker 19: never to go again. If this type of Jewish hating
- 35:57Speaker 19: racism is the view of the owner of that restaurant,
- 36:01Speaker 19: I don't know about his wife's view, but it's certainly
- 36:03Speaker 19: his view to hold that disgusting flag never again in
- 36:07Speaker 19: his restaurants, and shame on him for this disgusting display
- 36:13Speaker 19: of historical ignorance and inhumanity, absolutely disgusting performance by this guy.
- 36:25Speaker 2: And rich Are the Australians already reporting that there have
- 36:28Speaker 2: been cancelations at Nomad?
- 36:31Speaker 20: Well, I hope there have been cancelations at Nomad, and
- 36:34Speaker 20: I hope there'll be many more. This is an unforgivable act,
- 36:38Speaker 20: a disgraceful act, beneath the dignity of any decent person.
- 36:43Speaker 20: As far as I'm concerned, I would never go to
- 36:46Speaker 20: this restaurant, and I have there's a lot of people
- 36:49Speaker 20: have got that same view.
- 36:54Speaker 1: All right, well, let's.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Talk about the front page of the Daily Telegraph today.
- 36:57Speaker 2: I mentioned it earlier in the show. I spoke about
- 36:59Speaker 2: it with Colonel Richard Camp, and now Peter Darton is
- 37:02Speaker 2: demanding an explanation for how a Palestinian man was granted
- 37:06Speaker 2: a visa to Australia despite associating with political members of
- 37:11Speaker 2: Hamas and other terror organizations in Gaza. As we've been saying,
- 37:16Speaker 2: Fayeza Hassani has been in Australia since July. We don't
- 37:20Speaker 2: know whether his application was even referred to. Asio Michael,
- 37:24Speaker 2: this isn't a surprise. We've been warning this would happen
- 37:27Speaker 2: if you bring three thousand people in from Gaza without
- 37:29Speaker 2: doing any security checks.
- 37:33Speaker 19: Well, absolutely, and we can't get any answers in the parliament.
- 37:37Speaker 19: Tony Burke, who stocks had risen in certainly labor circles
- 37:42Speaker 19: after his performance in his previous ministry. They loved him
- 37:45Speaker 19: and the press did. But certainly in this portfolio Burke
- 37:49Speaker 19: has not done well and you'd have expected him to
- 37:53Speaker 19: be more fulsome and explaining in the Australian public what's
- 37:55Speaker 19: going on. No, he's fallen into that terrible trap of
- 37:58Speaker 19: just saying, you know, we rely on the you know,
- 38:01Speaker 19: security agencies and you know if you don't support them,
- 38:04Speaker 19: well that's up to you. Well that's not an answer.
- 38:06Speaker 19: I mean, that's not an answer. This is exactly what
- 38:08Speaker 19: people want to know. Are people coming to this country
- 38:12Speaker 19: who have associations with terrorists? And this person clearly does.
- 38:16Speaker 19: Why are they coming into Australia. Why because Burke and
- 38:19Speaker 19: a few people want to hang on to their seats
- 38:21Speaker 19: in Western Sydney. I mean, this is this is appalling.
- 38:25Speaker 19: As Greg Shearan has said, this government lacks any moral
- 38:28Speaker 19: clarity in relation to these issues. In relation to Israel
- 38:31Speaker 19: in the Middle East and now in relation to this
- 38:34Speaker 19: three thousand visas. You know, we can't find any country
- 38:37Speaker 19: in the world has issued more than a couple of hundred,
- 38:39Speaker 19: Yet three thousand to Australia.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Why not Egypt?
- 38:42Speaker 19: Why didn't you get a visa to Egypt or Jordan
- 38:46Speaker 19: or somewhere else. No, he comes here. So this is
- 38:50Speaker 19: a shocking black mark against the government. It's profoundly ignorant
- 38:53Speaker 19: of them to be taking so many people without proper
- 38:55Speaker 19: security checks. Obviously, Shari he did not have a security
- 38:59Speaker 19: check and he should not be in this country.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Absolutely, our government has utterly failed us here. Rich the
- 39:08Speaker 2: Prime Minister is going to have to cancel this visa.
- 39:11Speaker 2: But the difficulty is that Tony Burke has said publicly
- 39:14Speaker 2: no one is being sent back to Gaza, So what
- 39:17Speaker 2: are they What are they going to do now? What
- 39:18Speaker 2: are they going to do when it does emerge like
- 39:21Speaker 2: in this case that someone has links to her mus.
- 39:24Speaker 20: Well, it really is you can't transfer him unto the ether,
- 39:29Speaker 20: so you've got to do something with him that's that's
- 39:34Speaker 20: tangible and that everyone can see. Seems to me that
- 39:39Speaker 20: Australians overwhelmingly don't want this kind of person in Australia
- 39:44Speaker 20: have to say neither to Why and as far as
- 39:47Speaker 20: I'm concerned, he should be booted.
- 39:53Speaker 2: I'll tell you what I think. Anthony Albanezi and Penny
- 39:56Speaker 2: Wang and certainly Tony Burke need to come here. They
- 39:58Speaker 2: need to do what I did and walk through Kidbootzberri,
- 40:02Speaker 2: which was one of the hardest hit. See the burnt
- 40:05Speaker 2: out houses, See the safe rooms that are riddled with bullets,
- 40:09Speaker 2: See the fact that little children and babies were murdered,
- 40:13Speaker 2: were slaughtered. They need to go to the side of
- 40:15Speaker 2: the music festival and then maybe they will start to
- 40:18Speaker 2: understand what a serious threat he Muss is because at
- 40:20Speaker 2: the moment they clearly just don't get it. Now, let's
- 40:24Speaker 2: talk about former Labor senator and activist Fatima Payment. She's
- 40:29Speaker 2: officially announced that she's got a new policy party. It's
- 40:33Speaker 2: called Australia's Voice. She's an independent senator now, she's no
- 40:37Speaker 2: longer sitting with Labor. We don't know any details, Michael Kroger.
- 40:41Speaker 2: We can only assume that she's going to target some
- 40:44Speaker 2: seats across the country where there are high Muslim populations.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Do you think that Labour needs to be worried about
- 40:50Speaker 2: her new political party.
- 40:53Speaker 19: No, I don't. I don't think they need to be
- 40:55Speaker 19: worried about her at all. She resigned from the Labor
- 40:58Speaker 19: Party because the Labor Party extreme enough on the Middle East,
- 41:02Speaker 19: so you know, hello, So that means she's just appealing
- 41:06Speaker 19: to a small number of Australians who basically attend those
- 41:10Speaker 19: rallies and demonstrations. She said she's broader than that. She's
- 41:14Speaker 19: not just a Muslim party. She's got all sorts of
- 41:17Speaker 19: other views, none of which we know about. She won't
- 41:20Speaker 19: win any rep seats, she's got zero chance of that,
- 41:22Speaker 19: and I doubt she'll win a Senate seat. And you know,
- 41:26Speaker 19: taking the name of the Voice is quite clever because
- 41:29Speaker 19: she's even though she denied this, she's very clearly trying
- 41:32Speaker 19: to make people think, well, well, this has got something
- 41:34Speaker 19: to do with the Voice, which forty per cent of
- 41:36Speaker 19: the country voted for. So there will be people that
- 41:38Speaker 19: donkey vote and think this has something to do with
- 41:40Speaker 19: the Voice and vote for for that reason. But otherwise
- 41:44Speaker 19: I don't think there's any Reasonaby anying would vote for
- 41:46Speaker 19: her party at all, to be.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Quite frank, no, yeah, kind of strange. Richard. What do
- 41:52Speaker 2: you think about or what can you tell us from
- 41:55Speaker 2: your internal conversations with senior Labor figures about how worried
- 42:00Speaker 2: labor is not just about Fatima Payman, but about these
- 42:03Speaker 2: other Muslim candidates that are running in Western Sydney marginal seats.
- 42:07Speaker 20: I don't think labour's too worried. I've had conversations with
- 42:11Speaker 20: a number of people about this, and I think the
- 42:14Speaker 20: view most generally is that very few of these candidates
- 42:18Speaker 20: will draw many votes, and most of them will just
- 42:22Speaker 20: get a few votes and disappear into history, and I
- 42:27Speaker 20: think no one will remember their names, and that's a good.
- 42:30Speaker 2: Thing, all right, all right, Well, that's all we've got
- 42:35Speaker 2: time for. Michael Kroger. Thank you for your kind words
- 42:38Speaker 2: at the start. Gray and Richardson, I'll see you both
- 42:40Speaker 2: back in Australia next week now still to come in
- 42:43Speaker 2: the show. The World shed tears when Israeli hostage Carmel
- 42:47Speaker 2: gat was executed by Hermas because Israeli forces had been
- 42:51Speaker 2: on the verge of rescuing her or her cousin would
- 42:55Speaker 2: join me here next welcome back well. On October seven,
- 43:03Speaker 2: Carmel Gatt was visiting her parents at Kibbutz Barri when
- 43:07Speaker 2: she was abducted by her mus There was hope for
- 43:11Speaker 2: Carmel's safe return. But there on September first this year,
- 43:15Speaker 2: her body was recovered by the IDF in a tunnel
- 43:19Speaker 2: in Gaza, along with five other hostages. She'd been executed
- 43:24Speaker 2: in cold blood, and her cousin Shae Dickman joins me here. Now, Shaye,
- 43:29Speaker 2: this is devastating because Israeli forces were so close by,
- 43:34Speaker 2: and we believe that is why Hermas decided to execute them.
- 43:38Speaker 21: What can you tell us, Yes, the terrorists for the trigger,
- 43:43Speaker 21: this is what we were afraid for. All this same
- 43:47Speaker 21: we knew there is a gun pointed at Carmel's head
- 43:51Speaker 21: for three hundred and twenty eight days, and we knew
- 43:54Speaker 21: that she was holding on the two hostages, two teenagers
- 43:58Speaker 21: that came back on November in the deal. Told that's
- 44:01Speaker 21: that Carmel was the guardian angel, She was a source
- 44:05Speaker 21: of hope. She was doing yoga with them and trying
- 44:10Speaker 21: to save their souls and their minds until the woman.
- 44:14Speaker 21: They were released, but Carmel was left behind. And all
- 44:21Speaker 21: along this time we were pushing for a deal, a
- 44:23Speaker 21: deal that would save lives, and we knew that Carmel
- 44:28Speaker 21: is still in the hands of the same terrorists that
- 44:31Speaker 21: torn her from her family that murdered her mother, and
- 44:35Speaker 21: we were afraid just from this moment that happened.
- 44:39Speaker 2: In the end, I'm so sorry what your family spent her.
- 44:42Speaker 2: It's just so horrific. Now you mentioned Carmel's mother was
- 44:47Speaker 2: murdered sound October seven. She was visiting her parents at
- 44:50Speaker 2: Kidboards Array. That take us through the story, because it's
- 44:53Speaker 2: quite extraordinary. Her mother saw her mass approaching from the
- 44:57Speaker 2: kitchen window and then what happened.
- 44:59Speaker 21: Right, So, Carmel was in the safe room with all
- 45:04Speaker 21: of the family. You can see her beautiful niece and
- 45:08Speaker 21: her niece is covering her ears because of the bombing,
- 45:11Speaker 21: and Carmel, inside this horror and terror, found the inner
- 45:15Speaker 21: power to take a book from the shelf and read
- 45:18Speaker 21: to her three and a half year old niece. And
- 45:21Speaker 21: just at ten thirty, Kine and her mother went to
- 45:26Speaker 21: the kitchen to bring some food and water to everybody,
- 45:29Speaker 21: and then from the window of the kitchen she saw
- 45:33Speaker 21: the terrorists and the last thing that she managed to
- 45:36Speaker 21: do is to warn her husband, Eschel, and she saved
- 45:40Speaker 21: his life.
- 45:41Speaker 1: He went to hide in the toilet.
- 45:43Speaker 21: No one could have known that the toilet would be
- 45:46Speaker 21: the one room that the terrorists would not invade. And
- 45:50Speaker 21: Eschel saw one by one how his kids and his
- 45:54Speaker 21: granddaughter are taken by the terrorists.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Sausage, and there was nothing he could do to say
- 45:59Speaker 2: he was helpless. Yes, and so the three and a
- 46:02Speaker 2: half year old Camel's nace. You just showed us a
- 46:05Speaker 2: picture of such a beautiful little girl. So she was
- 46:07Speaker 2: taken hostage, is that right?
- 46:09Speaker 10: Right?
- 46:10Speaker 21: So Alone Carmel's brother, he was taken with his wife
- 46:16Speaker 21: and child, three and a half year old Geffen. They
- 46:20Speaker 21: were put in a car and taken by the terrorists
- 46:23Speaker 21: with another guy from the Kibbutz who was put in
- 46:25Speaker 21: the trunk, and four terrorists inside this tiny car. And
- 46:30Speaker 21: the car was driving, and at a certain point a
- 46:33Speaker 21: tank came by and three of the four terrorists just
- 46:38Speaker 21: took off. They were afraid from the tank and alone
- 46:42Speaker 21: your then Geffen and Tal were left with the driver.
- 46:46Speaker 21: The car was driving, and Alone said to her, then
- 46:50Speaker 21: this is the time we're taking off, and they.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Took off from the car.
- 46:54Speaker 2: They escaped.
- 46:55Speaker 21: They escaped while the car was driving. Then was holding
- 46:58Speaker 21: Geffen and they started running. And then realized that her
- 47:04Speaker 21: daughter's best chance to survive is if she passes her
- 47:08Speaker 21: to Alan who's running faster, and she passed Geffen and
- 47:11Speaker 21: she told him save our daughter, even though she stayed behind.
- 47:16Speaker 21: And this is what alone did, and he managed, he managed,
- 47:19Speaker 21: He saved his daughter. Rden was kidnapped, taken hostage into Gaza.
- 47:27Speaker 2: So so tough. So she was then released in that
- 47:30Speaker 2: first negotiated deal in Bember last year.
- 47:33Speaker 21: I'd like to show you this beautiful picture was taken
- 47:38Speaker 21: after her mom coming home to her, her mom coming
- 47:41Speaker 21: home to her, and we told Geffen that even though
- 47:45Speaker 21: she saw she saw everything in her own eyes. We
- 47:49Speaker 21: told her that the bad guys took her. She saw
- 47:52Speaker 21: the bad guys. They took her, and we lost her.
- 47:56Speaker 21: But we're going to find her. And we did. We
- 47:59Speaker 21: found mom and today we'll get some fitting in the
- 48:04Speaker 21: Friday dinner table and she calls mom, Mom is coming
- 48:08Speaker 21: and this is what we are waiting for for dozens
- 48:11Speaker 21: of hugs.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Still one hundred and one hostages remaining. All right, Shaye,
- 48:14Speaker 2: thank you so much for joining us. Really appreciate you
- 48:17Speaker 2: sharing your story with Australia.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Thank you, Sherry, And that's.
- 48:20Speaker 2: All we have time for. Tonight Tomorrow is my last
- 48:24Speaker 2: show from Israel. So don't miss at eight o'clock tomorrow
- 48:27Speaker 2: night live from Jerusalem. But right now, here's Paul Murray.
