- Mark: Hey Jack, happy Thursday evening. We are a day late this week. Jack: Yeah, day late, but not a dollar short. Mark: Daylight and a buckshot is always with us too. Jack: We're a few bucks short, no doubt. Mark: That's that's it, man. That's it. Hey, quick question before we kick off, as always. you get a million dollars, but I get to choose what tattoo you get and you have to keep it for life. I get to choose where it goes, what it is. Are you taking the deal? Jack: God. You could really stitch me up here, Mark: Really could, but it's a million bucks. Jack: Look, I think I gotta take it 'cause I could just get it removed, right? I gotta keep Mark: No, you can't get it removed, you've got to keep it for life. Jack: it. Jesus. You could really stitch me up, Mark: The question is, would I? Jack: fuck yeah. Hundred percent good. Imagine if it was the other way around. Mark: mate, I wouldn't take that deal in a heartbeat with you. I'd end up with a dick on my face or something like that. Or a Nazis symbol on my cheek or something like that. It'd be Jack: Yeah, exactly. Well again. What tattoo would you give me? Mark: No, you gotta take the zeal first. Jack: No. Nah na nah man. Mark: look, I don't actually know. I I'd I'd give you to be honest. I hadn't really thought that far about it, but I just didn't think you were gonna take the Jack: Yeah, cool. Mark: deal regardless. Jack: Yeah, no, I don't trust ya. Mark: Alright, now we've discussed that Jack doesn't trust me with a tattoo or a million dollars. welcome back to Fairweather Friday. I'm Mark and that is Jack. We have hit episode five this week. Jack: Unreal. Mark: I know, who would have thought we would have made it past episode one, to be honest with you? Jack: think we'd get to episode one. So here we are. Mark: Here we are. Five episodes in or four episodes in starting our fifth one. Alright, we'll kick off as always with our goal for it. I've got a couple of questions for you this time, Jack. Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: First question of the week. You're on the eighteenth green, putting for your best ever score. Your mate, could be me, could be one of the other mates. Coughs or farts in your backswing and you miss. Do you replay it? Do you accept it? Or do you never invite us again? Or do you beat the shit out of us? Jack: I've actually done this to you, so that's pretty funny. I think you're on on the tea box though. Mark: You did. I was on the T Bug and a look at let's face it, it wasn't gonna be the best score ever, so Jack: No. It was damn funny though. look you'd gotta take it as it comes, right? Like a a bird can sweep you at any time or any noise could happen. there. Mark: Look, I've played with you and your mates before, Jack: Excellent. Mark: and it's a hundred percent gonna happen. You were you will be on your best ever score. You'll Jack: Yeah. Mark: be putting for it on the eighteenth green and someone's gonna someone's gonna throw something at ya. They're gonna fuck you up. Yeah, a hundred Jack: Yeah. Well, Mark: percent. Jack: my best ever score was I think it was eighty one at Minivi and I was on, so I was like withdrawn from the group a little bit, trying to stay in my own head. And I think for like the fifteenth T box and they're just into me, like trying to get in my head. They're Mark: Ha ha ha Jack: like, Jeezy's on for a good money and yeah, they're just into me. Didn't work though, so Yeah, exactly. It's just Mark: Mate, that's how golf should be. They're just setting you up for the pros, right? When you sign up for lift two point 'cause they're gonna be short players. Exactly, yeah. Stop being a pussy. Jack: It's building resilience, right? Mark: Alright, here's here's another one here. it's about the breakfast ball. You're on the first tee off, you slice your ball into the trees, there's no warm up, no driving range. Is taking your second ball acceptable or is it just cheating? Jack: Well, I think if you're just playing with mates, I think it needs to be fair. So if you go Brecky Balls and they say Yep, so you take that one, but you get one per round, right? So you Mark: Yeah. Yeah. Jack: take that one and then you have to give them one at any other time of their choosing. I think that's fair. Mark: Hundred percent, yeah. Do you think you should leave s limit it to the front nine before you've woken up? Like let's say you it's six AM T off, which we do sometimes. Did you get to the front nine to warm up or you know, 'cause I mean if you're taking on the eighteenth hole, is that fair? Yeah. Yeah, you're taking Jack: Yeah. Yeah, come on mate. Yeah. Mark: a piss at that point, aren't you? Jack: Yeah. No, I like that, yeah. Up to the ninth hole. Yeah. Mark: Up ninth all. So you get everyone gets a recky ball up to the ninth hole. I like it. Your mate has a two foot putt par. You tell him it's good but he putts it anyway and misses. Does the gimme count? Jack: No. Hey, Mark: I agree. Jack: if he chooses to put after I've given it to him, that's on him. Mark: Exactly. And then he yeah, 'cause he he's essentially saying, I don't want the gimme, I want to put this out. And he fucks Jack: Yeah. So no. Mark: it up. Yeah, I give I give ya. All right, here's one that we we come across quite often in competitions. What's worse, a bloke who deliberately inflates his handicap to win, so he's really an eight Jack: Mm. Mark: eight handicap but he plays off a twenty f says he plays off twenty five. Or is someone who claims he's off an eight but actually plays like a twenty five. Jack: Yeah, it depends on which side you're on, right? 'Cause Mark: Mm. Jack: if you end up with eight handicap, he says he's twenty five as a playing partner, then off you go, you know. But Mark: Mm. Jack: if you're playing against him I don't know. It's pretty hard to sort of cheat these days, so with your golf number. Yeah. Yeah. Well Mark: Yeah. Except if you're playing a four man four four ball Ambrose and they roll off with a seventeen over eighteen holes. Jack: we've all been there, right? We've we've played the Ambrose Comps and All of a sudden if you're the first groups out, all of a sudden the last groups start hitting birdies for the last six, seven holes, you know. Mark: That's it. Jack: So it's self policing, but you know, we're not out there playing for sheep stations, so Mark: Yeah, maybe we should. That that might fix things up a little bit, Jack: Yeah, maybe. Need some course martials, cameras. Mark: That's it. Lots of cameras, lots of spectators. All right, we'll kick into the fairway. It's the pros, not us. there's a bit of bit of commotion happening around the Liv Golf world at the moment. as we talked about earlier, we've got Live players have till Sunday, the twenty fifth, which is this Sunday, to opt in or out of the league's next proposed phase, Liv two point They haven't discussed or they haven't advertised what's what the next phase of Live looks like. Jack: Mm. Mark: but yeah, basically they have till the end of Sunday to to opt Jack: Yeah. Mark: in. as I think you said there's a few players that have been freed from their contracts and able to seek agency elsewhere. who we got there? I think there's that'll be Duchambeau, obviously, and Johnson and that sort of stuff. Who else we got? Jack: Yep. Yeah, so they're allowed to they're now free, so they're allowed to go and explore contracts with other tours or to renegotiate a contract with Live Two Po. so yeah, Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson's been freed. All the usual names like Cam Smith, Ian Paltar, Lucas Herbert, Bubba Watson, a couple of lesser known Lee Westwood, Harold Varner the Third and Michael Lasasso. Mark: Mm. Jack: have all been freed from their contract, so they are free to move on. John Rahm is the only exception there, where he reached an agreement with Liv to separate from them. So he has actually surrendered a good chunk of his what's left of his three hundred million dollar contract with them, so that's a huge loss for him. Hmm. But Mark: yeah. I mean he's probably not short of a dollar or two, but three hundred million is life changing money, generational changing money for anybody. Hmm. Jack: Yeah. Huge amounts of money. So Yeah, and I don't know why he's done a separation agreement rather than just being freed like the rest, but Mark: Probably because he was one of the last to join. Like he only joined maybe Jack: Yeah, yeah. Mark: a year or two ago, eighteen months ago. It wasn't long ago, so maybe that's why they could they wouldn't weren't gonna give him I don't know what his contract said, but maybe he had to serve out if you know, three or four years or something in his Jack: Mm. Mark: contract to get the full full value, so yeah. Jack: Yeah, you're probably right, yeah. But yeah, huge amount of money to lose. Mark: Mm. Jack: Yeah, and what a list of names to potentially come back to D P World Tour or P G A, so Mark: Well, yeah, that that when I was reading about this, this posed the question as well, do you think these guys will go back to the PGA? Like the likes of Bryson, obviously he's got his his YouTube golf and everything going on, but he does love the majors. I know we talked about that a bit last week. DJ he may not go back to the PGA. I reckon the rest of them will. Lucas Herbert, I don't know. He might have to qualify again for the PGA because I don't think he was ever on there, was he? Jack: Yeah, that's a good question actually. he might have played a few like wild card sort of things, but yeah, I'll have to have a look at that. But I don't know, Ian Polter, I'm not sure he's sort of he wants to anymore. yeah, he plays well for the the the rider cup, so maybe if he just jumps on the D P World Tour and collects a few points so he's still eligible. Mark: Yep. Look, I'll st I stand corrected so your mate doesn't have to. get up me next week. Lucas Herbert did play on the PGA. So he he probably will go back, yeah. Yep. Jack: You did? Okay. Yeah. like they're getting paid a lot more too now on on the PGA, thanks to Live. so yeah, I guess you gotta do something, right? You may as well kick go play golf and do what Mark: Hmm. Jack: you're good at and Mark: That's it. If you gonna if if you can, why not? I mean if I was still getting money thrown at me I'd still go play. Yeah. Jack: Yeah, exactly. Yeah, a hundred percent. Yeah. Mark: we talked about this the other week, but do they do they just get their tour card put back on? Or do they have to go through and qualify in some way? Do the PGA penalise them for something here? or do they just accept it and go, Yep, let's move on. You guys can have your spot back. Jack: Yeah, I I did read something Rory was saying that earlier in the year they give them the opportunity to come back, on some sort of agreement. which is how Brooks Kepke got back in. but those deals now are off the table, so what that means I'm not sure just yet. I did see the PGA had released an eligibility thing for next year. It was behind a paywall so I couldn't see it, but Mark: Yeah. Jack: so yeah, in a couple of days that'll be released to the rest of us and I'll be able to fill you in next week. But yeah. I don't think they can be reinstated. I think they should be made to qualify. At least play some qualifying round. 'cause yeah, they've been out for a long time, some of these guys. Mark: Yeah, I mean they still obviously play the the majors and stuff like that, but overall they have been out of the PGA tour for some years now, so yeah, do I I I personally think they need to qualify in some way, shape or form. Obviously these guys are world class players. but yeah, some sort of qualifying round or two should be good should should be required for these guys. So Jack: Yeah, definitely. Mark: just to see how they go. that brings the next question. Did Liv improve professional golf or did it just make people richer? I mean, I I love Jack: It just made people richer. Mark: I love the format, I love the team play and whether the P GA tour brings in a couple of teams over this over the years and maybe you know, maybe they do it like they do a couple of rounds of the PGA and then they do like a team event and all the PGA players get put in teams and they go and do it that way. 'cause I I love the team event. I love watching it, you know, I thought it it added that extra level, you know. And I love the atmosphere around the Live games as well, which is different from the PGA, so Jack: Yeah, they just removed that old like there's a lot of history around golf, right? And they they removed a lot of that and you could wear shorts if you wanted to and yeah, you they didn't have to be Crad didn't have to be deathly quiet at all times. as far as improving golf, I'm I'm not convinced. I think it just made Mark: No. Jack: people richer. I think the level of golfer hasn't increased since Liv come about. I think they've made courses harder for the professionals so to stop the you know under thirty scorecards and under twenty scorecards there's still a few getting around but yeah I think there was one May it might have been a major. I think the winning score was even after Mark: Yeah, yeah. Jack: four days, so but that's what you wanna see. You Mark: Yeah. Jack: don't wanna see twenty under all the time, so Mark: Yep, seeing some good rounds. Jack: Yeah. I think it's up to the golf course, isn't he, to make it harder. Mark: Yeah, that's true. Brings me on my next one as well. this one doesn't make it any harder, but did you read that Cole Berkshire, you know, the longest drive champion? Jack: yeah. Mark: Hit a ball five hundred and eighty eight point three yards. So f Jack: You're kidding. Mark: for every normal person, and I'm gonna say this it's not exact, so if anyone out there's listening and and wants to put an off the mark for next week, you're not gonna be able to. It's about four hundred and f sorry, five hundred and forty meters in normal terms. So It's actually about five hundred Jack: Howdy hell. Mark: and thirty eight I think, so yeah. Imagine hitting a ball. Now I'll give you them give him this, it was wind assisted, but saying that, that's still a damn long drive. Five hundred and forty meters. Jack: That's some of the longest par fives you can play, I reckon, and he's just landing it on the green if it goes Mark: Hm. Yeah. Jack: straight. But what a weapon. I saw Mark: I know, right? It's that's a huge drive. So yeah. Jack: his swing speeds like a hundred and fifty five mile an hour. It's just crazy. Nah. Mark: It's insane. I don't know how they generate those speeds, Like that's that's a lot of gym workouts. Jack: I'm getting to I think my max is like one eight kilometers an hour. And I'm I'm turning myself inside out to do that. Mark: You're not even close. Yeah, you don't get to the gym anywhere near as much as him, though. Ever, exactly. let let me ask you this then. Would you rather a five hundred meter drive, like be able to hit that consistently, but you three putt every time? Or would you rather hit it two two hundred meters, but every hole you want only for one part Jack: Not two hundred meters every day. Yeah. Mark: Yeah, I'm I'm there. I'm I'm with you there. There's no point hitting five hundred meters. Like most most of our path fours around here are what, two fifty to let's say three ninety four somewhere just over four hundred. Power fives on most amateur courses are in the five hundreds. If you know, for a long one. There's no need to hit that far, just hit to two hundred. Jack: And there's nothing worse than getting on the green in you know, green in reg and then three button. And it's just p so shit. So Mark: It isn't it. It yeah, it beats you down, doesn't it? Jack: Yeah. Yeah. One putt for the rest of my life, thank you. Mark: That's it. did you hear that TGL as well announced it's twenty twenty seven rosters? I'll go into more detail next week 'cause I haven't got all of them. but basically Tiger Woods and Rory McElroy will be in there. Adam Scott and Xander Shafley departed, so they've pulled out. Jack: okay. Mark: So yeah, but I think they'll release the rosters completely next week. So we'll have to have a look at that and see who's in each team. I actually didn't mind this. I I watched some of the T GL stuff and while it's simulator golf It was interesting how they did it. And some of the holes they got to play as well. Like they weren't just your standard, you know, you know, pebble Jack: Mm. Mark: beach on a sunny morning or anything like that. They they added those extra elements to it. There was one they had to I think it was a par four, they had to hit a stinger underneath the the rocks. Like yeah, Jack: Yeah, yep. Mark: so it's those sort of things that just challenge it a little bit. so yeah, is is simulated golf generally entertaining or is it just expensive indoor golf? Got the big questions Jack: I'm I'm gonna Mark: for you today. Jack: I'm gonna disagree with you on this one 'cause I've watched a few of those T GL events and I do not like Mark: really? Jack: nah. Like I can see the the challenge and all that and they're trying to create like atmosphere in a stadium environment, but I just don't like it. It's Mark: Wha what what about it don't you like? 'Cause I was enjoying it. Like I've watched a couple of a couple of and yeah, the atmosphere's pretty good. would I go and watch it? No. Like to Jack: Mm. Mark: an a to a stadium and watch it? No. But I'd watch it on YouTube or whatever I'm watching it on at the time. The atmosphere seems to be pretty good and and you know, you get to watch these guys hit some balls. Jack: Yeah, I I guess I'm a traditionalist, but yeah, girls played over eighteen holes out in the elements. With the wind, the rain, whatever, yeah, the fatigue over walking the eighteen holes. yeah. I just don't like it's like, it's a hundred and ninety meters. Okay, here's my eight iron. Bang, hundred and eighty meters straight shot. I don't even like playing simulators at like X Golf or whatever, so That's good when it's pissing down rain, but I don't enjoy it. Mark: I just wanna see I I I'm with you on the golf being a you know, a traditionless golfer and enjoying the majors, enjoying watching the tournaments and everything like that. But I think golf is missing something for the new generation. Like these guys, you know, ninety percent of have ADHD or can't sit down and watch anything. Jack: Yeah. Mark: They're all they're all used to everything, you know, being, you know, here and now, whereas we we were kids, if you wanted something you had to wait for it, you know. Now you wanna binge you wanna watch a show, you get to sit down in the afternoon and watch it all. Jack: Yeah. Mark: So I think they need to do something to spice up golf a little bit for lack of a better term there. But yeah, I I d I don't mind it. Jack: For me it's too much like a driving range 'cause like you don't have to shape shots or anything like that. You just go, alright, I wanna aim here and then you just hit as straight as you can and land it there. If you can't hit it straight. But Mark: If you're good at it if if you can hit it straight. Jack: it's too much like a driving range for me, so Yeah, Mark: Yeah, that's true. Yeah. Jack: I'm not a fan, but I can see the appeal. but yeah, I won't be watching much TGL, I'm afraid. Mark: well, you're missing out, I'll be watching it for ya. No, I wouldn't worry about that. Jack: You can fill me in. You couldn't anyway. Mark: Exactly. All this segment comes from one of our valued listeners. Jack: Mm. Mark: do you wanna give him a shout out? Jack: Yeah, very valued. yeah, shout out to Adam because this segment might actually stick around. because we are useless at just about Mark: Ha ha. Jack: everything. So, I know, what do you reckon you mate called out the the comeback last episode. We're Mark: Yep. Mm-hmm. Jack: gonna order these hats, send him on. Do you reckon Adam deserves a hat for making a new segment for us? Mark: I think Adam deserves a hat for making a new segment. I also don't think he deserves a hat. just 'cause he was an asshole. Jack: Can't wait to hear about this. Mark: Yeah, that's exactly right. this segment, if you weren't listening last week or haven't listened to last week's episode, go back and listen to it. This segment is called Off the Mark. it comes to us from Adam because he went through everything that we said and pulled out a few of the issues and said that I was off the mark. But ch I like it, Adam. I'm gonna start this one off. This is probably gonna piss a few people off. It's not something that I said incorrectly. I just think this was a very off the mark scenario. and it's gonna piss a few people off, especially if you're a religious person. You might know where I'm going with this one. Jack: Yeah, cheese. Here we go. Mark: the story about the Ecuadorian priest that got hit by that crucifix or it fell off the wall and and took him out. I I don't like the fact that someone did die off from this, but I'm calling this one off the mark because he was a man of God and God didn't Jack: Mm. Mark: save him. Jack: Well, when God has a plan, right? When the when your time's up, your time's up. Yeah. He was obviously Mark: When you times up, you times up. I like that, yeah, yeah. Jack: knocking on the door and he's like, I'm tired of waiting. Mark: It's it's your time now. I just think it's off the mark because yeah, he's a priest, he's a man of God and then Jack: Yeah. Mark: it it it happened to him. I know, right? Yeah. Could you Jack: What a freak accident that I like the video's wild, but some of the comments on those videos are hilarious, do Mark: Yeah, look I I I never want to see anyone go, especially in any any anyway, but the comments the comments were good. So yeah. Jack: No. Yeah. Yeah. But just a freak accident. Just Mark: Yeah. Jack: who saw that coming? You know. Him especially. Mark: no one. you you also had one this week as well? Adam? Did Adam put this one out for you? Jack: Yeah, this is just a no, I found this one myself actually. Listening back through one of our episodes. yeah, when we were talking supercars about the heading into Bathurst, I called the Walk and Shore Androti United team. But that has changed since last year where what's his name? Zach Brown pulled the pin. Mark: Hm. Yeah. Jack: Androti walked away, so it's now Walk and Shore T W G Racing, who is A bloke out of New Zealand, I believe. so yeah. Apologize to the WAU fans or the TWG fans now out there, but yeah, got that wrong. Mark: Are you sure he's from New Zealand? You wanna double check that before we sign off on this one? Jack: No, I'm on it off, he's he's a cuzie bro. Mark: He's like cozzy bro. We're gonna move into the locker room. There's been so much good football over the last week since we were on. I wanna kick off with the Australian New Zealand game and start by what a game that was. Like it was edgy a seat the whole game, backwards and forwards. If if you've never watched a game of rugby league in your life, this is the one to watch. I thought it was brilliant. Jack: Yeah. Had everything. excuse me. geez, what's going on here? but yeah. Mark: Get it get it out of your mouth. Jack: Australia obviously won that one, twenty four twenty two. Yeah, Mark: Yeah. Jack: but it's absolutely sensational game. That was like state of origin level. two of the best teams going head to head. just absolutely brilliant. Some of the football that was played was crazy. Mark: Mm. I'm I'm gonna disagree with you here, actually. it was a better game than watching State of Origin. I I th I think if if you've never watched a game of rugby league in your life, this is the game to watch it. Now, prior to this game happening, I would have said any State of Origin you want to pick. There's a million of them out of there out of there that you could pick to choose and watch. But this one I reckon if this this is the game this this is what Jack: Yeah. Yeah. Mark: the NRL need to be broadcasting across the world to get everyone involved in it. Jack: Yeah, and Mark: It had it had everything in it. Jack: and I guess, you know, a lot of people saying it's they played the grand final in round one. But I don't know, these teams are gonna get better, like as they gel throughout the the World Cup. hopefully Kaylin Punger recovers from his broken arm. Mark: Yeah. Jack: Courtesy of Cam Munster's head. But yeah, I can't wait to see him go head to head again 'cause that game was phenomenal. Mark: It was. It had everything. Like, yeah, Calan Ponga broke his arm. But he broke his arm and then ran the length of the field. Jack: Yeah, he played like another fifteen, twenty minutes or something, didn't he? With a broken heart and that's everyone reckons he's a pussy, but I don't know. But Mark: But if I'd have broken up, I'd be lying on the ground. Ain't no way I'm running the length of Jack: Just Mark: a field at that point. Jack: dig a hole and bury me there, I'm done. Mark: That's it, yeah. And Tedesco, he had a great game too. Jack: I don't think he played, did he? Mark: Was it T no not Tedesco, who was it? Jack: raised Welsh. Mark: Walsh, yeah, I was sorry, I was thinking of wrong fullback. Yeah, Walsh. He had a great game. Him and Ponga, yeah. Yeah. Jack: Yeah. Yeah. Absolute blunder. Yeah. Mark: That was brilliant. Jack: Yeah. Two of the best full backs we got is just going head to head like that was just incredible. yeah. Mark: other. Yeah. Jack: And they'll take play for blade too. Like no one ever really took a win here or there. yeah, it was great to see. But Mitch Moses went off with a a calf injury too, so I think he's Mark: Hm. He did, didn't he? Jack: out for the remainder of the World Cup, but Tom Dearden come in to replace him and I arguably I think they're a better team once Tom Dearden hit the field. So I reckon yeah, I think so. yeah, Mark: Yeah. They just got they just had it together after that, didn't they? Hm. Yeah. Jack: I think Tom Dearden cemented his place there. Mark: Yep. And then even after this game there were a few cracker games as well, like England getting beaten. I never saw that happening to be honest with you. Jack: Yeah. Mark: Like I just didn't think that was gonna happen. Jack: Yeah, especially Tonga's a great side, but you know, England has a lot of stars in it too, so Mark: Yeah. Jack: yeah, rip a game. Great to see Tonga get up. All the passionate fans over there. That was played in Perth that one, so Mark: Yep. Jack: yeah, it was great to see. Mark: What I'm loving to see here as well this year is that all these South Pacific Island teams, they're actually playing quite well. Some mole player had a cracker of a game too. Like, Jack: Hmm. Yeah. Mark: yeah, there's some there's some well some well good players in these teams as well, some well known pla Jack: Well good. Mark: well good, yeah. Couldn't get my words out there, so I just threw together. Jack: But yeah that's some more in France game, bloody hell. Like there's gotta be a mercy rule, right? At some point. Mark: Yeah. Jack: If you're that far ahead, just Rhino boys, but let's call it here. That's seventy eight four, that's a crazy Mark: Give up. No. play till the finals, Lauren. Yeah. Jack: score. Mark: That's sc that's a score line, isn't it? It's gonna be interesting the next few games as well, because obviously New Zealand went onto the other side of the table now. so they'll be matched up again against some of these other teams as well, and so will Australia. So yeah, let's let's see what happens in the next couple of rounds. what are the Jack: Mm. Yeah, yeah. Mark: just give us a quick rundown that you you said you the scores up. What what else we got on the scores? Jack: Yeah, so twenty four twenty two, Australia beat New Zealand. the other close ish games, there wasn't any. They're all pretty well blowouts. PNG forty two beat Lebanon eighteen. Tonga beat Mark: Yeah. Jack: England thirty twelve and Fiji beat Cook Islands forty twelve. So Mark: Yeah. Jack: a couple of flogins handed out there. But this week coming up, starting we're recording this on the twenty second, so Starting tomorrow we have Tonga and Lebanon and then Mark: what time's that one on? Jack: that's seven five. again, daylight savings, I'm not sure what time it's gonna be. Mark: You gotta say Tonga's gonna win that one. Jack: yeah, I think so. I don't think Lemon have it. Mark: Yeah. No, don't think so either. Jack: this could be a good one though. First game Saturday, PNG versus Samoa. Mark: yeah. Jack: PNG are paying nine dollars, so obviously there's a firm favourite, but I don't know, I don't think that's that's quite fair on PNG. Mark: No, I think they've got some good players in there. that could could yeah, could do it over Samoa. What's Samoa paying? Jack: Hm. Yep. A dollar seven. So Yeah, firm favourites. Mark: Yeah, okay, fair enough. Still, fan favourites, yeah, yeah. Jack: then second game Saturday is England, France. yeah, Mark: England have to have that one right. Jack: the old enemies going again. Mark: That's it. Jack: England's paying a dollar, so France is paying fifty one. So, you know. Mark: All right, I was saying I might put a dollar on France. Jack: Well, if you chuck ten bucks on you y yeah, it's only ten bucks, right? and then Sunday two games we got New Zealand versus Cook Islands. Again Mark: Mm-hmm. Cook Islands might win that one. Jack: Cook Islands paying thirty four dollars. and the last game Sunday, Australia versus Fiji. And Fiji are also paying thirty four dollars. Mark: Look, I I wanna see that game. I I think that that'll be a good game to watch. I think Australia will dominate. but I think Fiji, if they pull their heads out and they get it together, I think they've got some big lads in that team, man. Yeah. Jack: yeah. I'm actually considering going to that game on Sunday, so yeah. We'll see how we go. Yeah, weather permitting. Mark: Okay. Weather permitting. You it it might be water polo by then. Jack: Yeah, well, Sunquil's been underwater a couple of times, so we'll see how that goes. Mark: Hmm. That's it. So that's the NRL World Cup at the moment. what do we got? Cricket on at the moment as well. rain delays have forced mm. Jack: yeah, lots of rain. I had it on just before. I think their rain delayed again. Mark: Jesus. Jack: so I'll just bring up some scores real quick because South Africa have absolutely pulled their finger out this one. Mark: Yeah. Jack: so South Africa got four hundred and twenty five for nine, they declared in the first innings. they just could not get Bavoomer out. He was just just stuck there. and then Australia went into bat, all out for ninety nine. Mark: I did I did read that. Yeah. Jack: Absolute disgrace. so they enforced the follow-on, so Australia just went back out to bat straight away again. and they are currently 203 for four, so a little bit better. They still trail by 123 runs. it is the last day, I think they had nearly two days off for rain. but I believe this is just gonna head to a draw. Mark: Yeah, this one will be a tie. There's no way they're gonna finish off their innings in that. And then there's you know, obviously South South Africa still need to get in there, so it'll just this be a draw. Be a washout this one. Still got a couple more Jack: Yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah, so Mark: rounds after that, so there's what, three more games? yeah, Jack: No, only one. it's a three test series that one. Mark: okay. Yep. Jack: So but yeah. Where they plan? They changed the name of the city to something totally random. I don't even know how to say it. but it's Mark: Yeah, right. Give it a go. Go on. Jack: it's the old Port Elizabeth, that's a much easier name Mark: Yeah. Jack: to say. I can't even find it here. It there it is. It's G Q E B E R H A. How the hell do you say that? Mark: yeah. Give it a go. Give it a go. Jack: Gerber? Get me Gebra? Mark: Looks you've just upset some Sapphas Jack: Well, make your names easy to say, Jesus. Mark: Look, I'm not even gonna give that a go. Nah, I've I've fucked up too many things already in the last last week. Like my Eng my English Jack: Yeah, you're gonna get us cancelled. Mark: accent for sure. we've got some motorsport on this weekend. as you pointed out earlier, the Moto GP is on at Phillip Island this weekend and so is the supercars on the Gold Coast. Jack: Yeah, same weekend, so I'd like to know who fucked that schedule up, but Mark: But I think with all the rain that we're having the I think they're just gonna put the supercars away and maybe pull out some jet skis and some little baggies and just do what the Jack: Yeah. Mark: normal Gold Coast would do on the weekend. Jack: the the jet ski five hundred at the Gold Coast. yeah, the rain's gonna be awful for the supercars. great weather for ducks, but like wanna mention or ask you a question. I don't know if you remember last year with the Gold Coast how we had that awesome image of cars flying through the air Mark: Yes. Jack: when they hit the chicane. That went worldwide. Like the most views supercars ever had with our sport. Those cars are just flying, it was super cool, super aggressive. So this year they decide, you know what? We're gonna change it and put tire bundles in the way, so they can't do the super cool jumps anymore. Thoughts? Yeah. Mark: No. Ruined it. Ruined it. Jack: But why would you go from absolutely hitting breaking records for viewership because these cars are just flying through the air to Alright, let's put tire bundles there. Mark: Nah. Y you leave the tire bundles out, you let the fans have their fun, you let watch the f cars fly. No. No, I don't agree with put obviously the safety measures, you don't wanna you wanna make sure everyone's safe and whatnot, but they managed to get through last year without any issues, right? I mean they're still at their crashes, but not a not on that section. I know the section you're talking about. That was great watching them jump that. Jack: Yeah. it like both ways I can see it. Adds jeopardy, right? So they're flying through the air, components can break as they they land. or the tire bundle, if you cut the corner by a few inches, you've half written your car off. 'Cause Mark: Yeah, that's your thing. Jack: you know, they they strap those things down pretty well, so I'm a bit disappointed. I was pretty excited to see cars flying through the air again. But yeah. Mark: I'm I'm gonna mention it for ya. You did put a post up on our Facebook page, of that particular corner or chicane area, where they are about to put the tire bundle. So if anyone's out there listening and you g on Facebook, jump on Fairweather Friday and take a look. It was probably what did you put it up today? Or was it yesterday? Yesterday, Jack: Yesterday I put that one up. Mark: yeah. Take a look. I'll see if we can get we'll get our social media manager onto this one and see if we can get some Jack: Mm. Mark: videos of the cars flying from last year. just in case anyone hasn't seen that. and we'll get them up there as well for that's sh just to show you what they were doing last year and to see if you're just as disappointed as we are that we're not gonna see that this year. Jack: Especially the slow motion shots. That was so cool. As they're coming down to land, you see the suspension, take the hit. It was poetry emotion. Mark: Do you reckon the drivers enjoyed doing that too? I reckon they were g I reckon they were having a blast jumping over those chicanes. Jack: I don't know, you see the in car footage and they're getting rattled around in there a fair bit. I think it was pretty hard on the body, but hey, it's fast, so Yeah. That's Mark: Yeah, it's fast and you get through the little jump. How cool is that? Yeah. Jack: what you wanna see. You d wanna see drivers absolutely ragging it every lap. Then Mark: Hm. That's it. Jack: they're taking that away from us, so bit disappointed, but Mark: Hm. Look, I've got a question for you. Given that it's you know, we've got a wet weekend coming up. we're meant to get a torrential downpour tomorrow or tonight tomorrow. Do Jack: Mm. Mark: you reckon we'll see more crashes over the weekend? Jack: look rainy Gold Coast, definitely. there's plenty of crashes at Gold Coast anyway. But Mark: That's that's not even on the street circuit. Jack: Yeah. The other thing I'm a bit scared of really is they pull the pin on races on street circuits when it rains too much, so Mark: Yeah. Jack: I'm a little bit worried that they might just can the race altogether. So Mark: well then then you just tune back into the Moto GP, don't you? Jack: Yeah. Hopefully this rain bug is off and we can get some racing in, but yeah, bit concerned about that. Mark: Yeah, look we'll have to wait and see what happens this weekend, Hm. Jack: The only thing is that south side's been spared a lot of this rain, so it's mainly hit the north side. Mark: Yeah. Jack: So, yeah, we'll see. Hmm. Mark: We'll see, we'll see. F one, I was reading today or yesterday, that there's a potential for the Mercedes driver Kimmy Antonelli to become the youngest F one world champion. 'cause he won No, they're they're racing in the United States this week. He needs to Jack: They are, yep. Mark: he needs to win this and Russell and Hamilton need to finish fifth or worse. And then this kid who's twenty becomes Jack: Mm. Mark: a champion. Man, it's How would you feel being Kimmy Antonelli at twenty, potentially winning the world championship as and being the youngest to do it? Like what a dream, Jack: Yeah. Mark: right? Jack: Yeah. I think it was his early in the year he won his first race and his dad is pretty brutal. He's like the reporter's like, how do you feel about him winning his first race? Like, yeah, he's not a world champion yet, so you Mark: Ha. Jack: know, and now he's going to prove it, so good on him. I think I I've heard people throw around the word false champion because it's very much a AI driven race these days with how the cars behave. So I think it was just a the old V ten, straight out, fast as you can drive. I don't think he's anywhere near the front. But with the cars the way they have to slow down to recharge the battery in certain corners to go faster in the straights and all that. I think he's just got that nailed. So you know. Mark: Yeah. Look, we talked about this last week as well, like i and and the same thing goes for the F ones is what we talked about for the supercars. Are they too over engineered? And does driver skill still become a part of this? As as I said last week, y yeah, I think driver skill is still is a huge part of this. They can you know, one momentary lapse in judgment and you're in a wall, you're in a sand trap, your car's no longer racing, you know, they don't have, you know, AI assistance to turn the car. round the corner, right, at two hundred kilometers an hour, you know? That's still driver skill. Sure they've got the technology in there to recharge the batteries as they break, you know, to go faster on the straights, all that sort of stuff. But mate, you s you're still a good driver. There's still skill involved in this. Yeah. Jack: Yeah. The only like I totally agree with that 'cause yeah, these guys are next level. The way they prepare for races and everything else is just crazy. But yeah, I just I think the way the cars are set up, I think it was just a old school here's a car, go and rag it. I I just don't think it's anywhere near there. But happy to be proven wrong as well. Mark: Well, sam same thing we talked about this last week as well, with like the likes of Brocky and and DJ and his prime Jack: Mm. Mark: and everything like that, you know, put those guys in these new cars. Are th are they as good as the drivers that we've got now in these new cars? And vice versa. Are these new drivers as good as what those old boys were in those old cars? Or is it a case it's it's like apples and oranges, you know, you c you can't compare old cars versus new cars because the technology's different. Is the driver more skilled in the old days or versus now or are they equally skilled because of the cars that they drive? Jack: Hm. I think I think the drivers these days, especially Formula One, have extra bandwidth that they can use in their own head, you know, they're rather than just absolutely hanging on for dear life for those V ten monsters. They've actually they're thinking four, five, six corners ahead, twenty laps ahead. They're they're really planning out their entire race while they're driving the car. so yeah, I think yeah, you're right, apples and oranges. Yeah, I'd like to see him go back to just naturally aspirated, get rid of that hybrid shit, just convert dinosaurs into noise. Mark: Yeah, look, I'd love to see that as well. there's there's a there's a there's a dude on I wanna say it's on he's probably on TikTok too, but I've only ever seen him on Instagram and he's reels and he talks about all the, you know, rule changes to F one and, you know, how they were all just the engineers are now just trying to find loopholes in these rules to make their cars go faster and do different things. Like I think it was Adam might be able to correct me on this one. It it Jack: Ha ha. Mark: might be Mercedes or it might be Red Bull that basically as the car drives that so basically the wheels are turned in at the front to be able to corner like slow down the corners. But as they drive, the driver can pull back on the steering wheel to straighten the tires up for when they're on the straights. So there's those those sort of things in there that they're they're they're not breaking the rules, they're just bending the rules because they're allowed to, Jack: Hmm. Mark: so you know. Jack: Yeah, that was a couple of years ago I think and they other teams picked up on it and they pretty much canned it straight away. so I don't think that happens anymore. But there's there's certain things I'm gonna have to read up on this 'cause like AI learns how they race around the track. And then if they do something differently one lap, the AI can't handle it and it like accelerates for them or brakes for them or or does something weird to the car. there's been a couple of instances where something's happened in the lap and it's changed the moment where they AI thinks they are. And does something weird to the car and the car has crashed. So I'm definitely gonna have to do some research on that so I get it right. But yeah, I'd I don't think computers should be driving F one cars. Mark: No, definitely the the driver should. A hundred percent. And yeah, bring back the old V tens, you know, straight V tens, you know, no technology in and just see what happens. Br Jack: Mm. Yeah. Mark: that's how it should be. But yeah, obviously they they want to do things differently. So Jack: Hmm. Yep. But yeah, Antonelli, yeah, good on him if he does manage to win it. 'Cause yeah, youngest ever. And he's just taken it any straw, just doesn't care. Mark: look, you'd have to, right? And and that's a dad's job, as you mentioned before, you know, keeping his son level headed and being like he's not a champion yet. He's not a champion yet. And if you let him believe he was a champion right at this, you know, final crucial stage, it gets in his own head, right? Just keep it real with him. Jack: Hm. Yep. And he's kept it real 'cause I just saw just then he's got eight wins and fourteen podiums for the season, which is yeah, incredible. So yeah. Mark: That's pretty decent. Yeah, look, could could you imagine Dad saying to us, you know, yeah, you're a champion, son. Exactly right. Yeah. Jack: Fucking don't call me champ. Mark: Dad'd definitely be one of those dads that'd just keep us in check. He always has. Yeah. Jack: A hundred percent, yep. Mark: That's the way it should be too. Jack: yep. Mark: I'm just trying to keep this in the front of our minds. the variety bash. Over the last week Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: we yes you sent us a couple of cars that we should look at. I think my favorite at the moment is that Subaru Brumby. The nineteen ninety Jack: Yes. Mark: seven Subaru Brumby. I'll see if I can get a picture and put it up on here for anyone watching on YouTube. And then you sent us the XF Falcon with the canopy on the back. That looked sick. I love both of those. So yeah. Jack: I saw a couple of Shag and Wagons getting around as well. and I did Mark: nice. Jack: find an old Jag as well. which is super cheap. But yeah, I'm I'm pretty pretty keen on the Brumby actually. Yeah. I actually Mark: that looked awesome, I reckon, Yeah. Jack: forgot about the Brumby when we were talking about it the other week. yeah, I reckon that'd be a sick car. Mark: Yeah, I reckon it would be too a little bit small, but I think reckon we could do it. Yeah, smaller things. Yeah. Th Jack: yeah, and it's only two of us. So yeah. Mark: throw the swags in the back and we'd be good to go. Yeah. Jack: Yeah, that's right. but yeah, we're definitely gonna keep it at the forefront of mind, but I think we need to sort of decide sooner rather than later because all the work that needs to be done to the car. so yeah, I think we need to decide sooner rather than later which one we're doing. Mark: Look, should we should we potentially set up a GoFundMe here? And get our Yeah, Jack: Yeah, can do. Mark: and Jack: Yeah. I don't mind it, but there's a lot of fundraising to do for the event as well, so yeah. Mark: That is true. And we've got s we've got a little looseness at the moment, so Jack: Yeah, we do. All five of us. Mark: all five. No, saying that, we're going off top off topic here, but we've hit over two hundred streams on the four episodes so far across the multiple platforms, which, you know, for two dudes who don't really know what they're doing and having a go at something Jack: Yeah. Mark: and don't really know that many people, we're actually not doing too bad. Hmm. Jack: Yeah, I'm not upset about it, that's for sure. YouTube has got a few views on it now too. Mark: nice. I haven't looked at YouTube for the last couple of days. Jack: so yeah, pretty happy with how that one's going. yeah, it's what are we up to? Twenty four views, so I'm pretty happy with that. Mark: That's not that's not bad after the trouble we had put it all up there, so it was frustrating as all shit. But anyway, off topic. So we want to look at Subaru Bromby or the XF Falcon. That that's we'll narrow it down to those two, yeah. All Jack: Yep, I think so. Yeah. Mark: right. any listeners, viewers out there that got a an idea for a car outside of those two or if you like those two, let us know. Jack: Yeah, please. Mark: please let us know. We're keen. Alright, the pub question. I love this segment to be honest with you. I just love the questions that I can come up with. Jack: Mm. It's so good. Mark: I've got I've got one for you and I've got a I've got an answer for you as well. Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: You have a personal theme song that plays every time you enter a room. Jack: Mm. Mm-hmm. Mark: What is it? Now I've got two for ya. Yours is gonna be either Pink Pony Club or Dude Looks Like a Lady Jack: Yeah, there's a good backstory for that, but maybe not appropriate for here. Mark: it always is appropriate. Yeah. You wanna tell the story? Yeah. Jack: Yeah. yeah, basically the story I was Mark was helping me move into a new house one day and this poor Telstra technician turned up to do the internet for me and we're a little bit confused as to what this person identified as. And so I just started singing a song, Dude Looks Like a Lady and And Mark: It's stuck. Jack: it stuck. The poor person I'd Now that I think back, I feel pretty bad for that one, but yeah, hilarious at the time. Mark: It was pretty funny. It was good. It was just one of the spur of the moment, had to be there type things, but it was great. Yeah. Jack: Yeah. Yeah. Mark: So what's your theme song? Outside of those two. Pink Pony Club probably definitely for you. Jack: That's a definitely, yeah. I'd definitely rock that. That's a really tough question, hey, 'cause geez there's some damn good songs out there, but I know. Anything chili peppers I reckon it's a pretty good way to go. I quite like Chris Stapleton, bit of a country music fan, so Mark: Yeah, yeah. Jack: fun of his songs, yeah. Mark: Yeah. I would have thought you would have gone fix a drink by Chris Jensen. Jack: There's also one called drinking problem which yeah. Yeah. all of these. Mark: That's true. Buy me a boat even. Hey. Yeah. We could just go on for ages. I'm I'm I'm gonna ask that same question again next week, so have a think about what your actual theme song would be. yeah. 'Cause I think it'd be interesting it'd actually have come up with a song that plays every time you enter a room. yeah, I think that'd be pretty cool. Jack: Well, for those who don't know, Mark doesn't tell me what these questions are beforehand, so I'm doing it on the fly. But you've obviously Mark: Look, there is a there is a few. Jack: thought about it. What's yours? Mark: look, I haven't thought too far into it either, but I I went as far as yeah, definitely something from the Chili Peppers or or even A C D C. There's a couple of bangers in there. But yeah, look, I'll that's why I said like we'll think about it over the week and then next week we'll come back and I'll I'll give you my answer there. Jack: Anything from the village people for you, I reckon? Yeah. Mark: Y MCA, yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely. Yeah. Maybe a little bit from Prince too. Raspberry Jack: Yeah. All the above. Mark: Beret. I saw this one today. I'm gonna ask you this one. Only stupid people Jack: Mm. Mark: say no? Are you one of them? Jack: Yes. Mark: That what w yeah it is. Jack: That's a good one. That's a good one. Mark: When I saw that one, it reminded me of that TikTok that was gone around that time where there's those two dudes on it and he goes, I'm gonna snap my fingers and you'll forget that you were ever gay and he snaps his finger and his mate goes, But I was never gay And he's getting really defensive about it. Yeah. That reminded me of that one. I thought it was brilliant. Jack: No I was never go. Exactly. so good. Yeah, I like it. Mark: Yeah. this is a random segment that I want to put in this week. I just thought it was it was pretty cool and they do a lot of good for the community and a a lot of good for men in general. and I want to talk about this sort of thing later on as well in the in the program or in the sh in the show. So during COVID, I built a coffee table with my boys. it was an epoxy river table, so basically we to t timber slab, cut it down, put in a mould, poured some epoxy in. It actually looks really cool. but at the time I didn't have large enough machinery to level it and plan it down and get it all set ready to go. So I did the best I could with it with the tools that I had at the time. I finally got around to looking into finding a larger thicknesser or CNC machine that the slab could go into. The slab's probably like seventy five centimeters wide by you me maybe a meter long, so it's quite a big piece. And it's probably an inch and a half thick. So I needed a big machine for this. Finally got some time. I thought, fuck it, I'll find out if I can find one. turns out the men shed near me actually has a thicknesser and a C and C machine that would fit perfectly for this. So Jack: Yeah, excellent. Mark: went down there last Saturday. I actually I called him up during the week and said, look here, you guys have got a thicknesser or a CNC machine. I said, I've got this timber slab that I did some work on. The guy named Alan was down there and he was awesome. Like he's like, you're coming down on Saturday? No big deal, come on down, come and have a chat to me, I'll see what we can do for you. So I took it down there. Alan was at the back in one of the there's like four sheds down here. It's the place is massive. They've got every every machine under the sun that you could want, and use. And yeah, a couple of guys as I walked into the first shed said, who are you looking for? And I like, Alan. Two dudes got up straight away, ran down the back. we'll get in for you while they were there, you a couple of other guys were talking to me and everything like that. It was such a community place. Like it was a really cool feel in this in this place. Alan came up and we had a bit of a chat and everyone loved the slab and loved the look of it and everything like that. So They're all pretty happy with it. and so I'm gonna go back on Saturday, pick it up. Alan look, I've got some things on this week, leave it with me, come back next Saturday. And so I just want to give a shout out to the men shed, around Australia. these guys, you know, it's such a good thing. I've never actually been into one before. I thought it was for old men. but talking to these guys, they're like, you know, the whole idea of this is that guys can go in and talk about the troubles of life while using their hands to take that stigma away. from men's mental health, you know, not many guys will sit down and, you know, hold hands and have a cry and everything like that about it and talk about things that are going on their lives. but the association sort of came up with this idea that men would rather talk about things when they're busy. You know, you'd be out in the tools, building something, whatever, having a chat, that sort of thing. That's what it's about. Now, there is a lot of older guys that run that go in the men's shed because they're at that time of their life, they're retired, they can help each other out, that sort of stuff. but it's not just for old men, you know. Like the the guys, everyone down there were so good. It's seventy bucks a year to sign up. You and then you pay thirty five dollars for a shirt, you get your name embroidered on it, and you can go down there whenever you want. You got free use of all the tools, all the equipment, anything in there, it's all paid for. As long as you know how to use the equipment, you can use it. If you don't know how to use it, there's always someone there to to teach you how to use it. So I am thinking about signing up. think it'll be cool and then I can keep building my stuff and then take it down there and use all their tools and everything like that, all the bigger machinery that I don't have. So when I went down there they've got like laser cutters, they've got CNC drills, you know, lathes, metal lathes, wood lathes, you you name it, these guys have it. It's it's amazing. Jack: Yeah. Incredible organization. I've been to one, I think, up on the sunny coast. yeah, same setup. Absolutely decked out with everything. Amazing guys there. really good for people who are retired and all of a sudden they've got all the spare time and don't know what to do. good for people who are injured or, you know, off work for whatever reason or just anyone struggling mental health wise. just If you're feeling alone one day, just find one, pop down. They're they're amazing. Mark: Yeah, they've got beers, they got coffee, tea, whatever you want. As I said, I walked in there on Saturday, not knowing anyone or anything about the place. Bunch of guys stood up, had a good chat with me. You know, and I was just there to talk to one dude, but end up talking about thirty of them, I think. So some stats from the first started in Australia, in a shed in Gulwa in South Australia. Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: There's now thirteen hundred of around Australia, and there's a couple across the world as well. There's sixty nine, they're in sixty nine countries now. Jack: hell. Mark: Yeah. So that's pretty cool. and it's it's Jack: Yeah, nice. Mark: started in the backyard in in Australia. So if you're interested, menshed dot org is the website. So I suggest jumping on there and have a look. even if you just want to go down for any reason, just pop down and have a chat with these guys. Like they're all they're all pretty keen, all pretty pretty happy to talk to anyone as well. So yeah. Jack: Yeah. And yeah, you and I big advocates for mental health for especially for men, so yeah, get on down there, have a chat. Mark: Hundred percent. And that's something I like to talk about. I know we've got November coming up, November. obviously I won't 'cause I've got the beard in the mail already. Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: but yeah, we'll we'll bring up mental health, mental mental health challenges probably next month, I think. Which is like two weeks away. Jack: Yeah, definitely. Yeah, it's not far. Mark: Yeah. business talk. we were gonna talk a bit further about some of the stuff we talked about last week. but we haven't got it all set up yet, so there's a fair bit in there. I do want to talk about some business stuff that I came across this week, from my side of things, so along those sort of lines. but before we get into that, you wanted to say something about business this week? Jack: Yeah, just wanna mention one of the the challenges of running a business. especially a business like mine where I'm outside all day. The weather this week has been awful. I think I Mark: It's been terrible I Jack: think some places have had over two hundred mil in a day, so you know, just water everywhere. Which totally rules me out for doing any work, so I'm pushing people back to the week after the week after yeah, it's great on one hand because everything was so dry that we needed the rain to get things to grow again, but on the other hand, I didn't do anything today. I did two jobs yesterday, nothing today, probably nothing tomorrow. hopefully Monday I might be able to get back into it, but time will tell, so I'm definitely at the the whim of Mother Nature, so yeah, just another challenge. Mark: Yeah, that's it. It's it's it it's understanding those challenges before you start a business as well. you know, especially s especially when we work outside and you're at, you know you're at the whim of mother nature. You know, some day she's gonna be nice Jack: Yeah. Mark: and some day she's not. Jack: and you know, you gotta put that money aside for the rainy day, literally, because you're gonna have days, weeks, especially in South East Queensland when you're not getting paid. So yeah, it's yeah, it's gonna be a challenging week. Mark: That is a good segue, what you just mentioned then about putting money aside for the Jack: Mm. Mark: rainy days. My challenge in business is putting money aside for paying company tax, GST and PAYG. So Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: I've got I've had invoices be paid. I did my BAS statement for the July quarter today, paid all that, got all that sorted out. But in the process of doing that, I've set up spreadsheets and everything like that to track or my invoices that come in, how much DST needs to be paid, how much tax needs to be paid, and then obviously my PAYG when I pay myself every fortnight. So because what I don't want to do is at the end of the year turnaround or at the end of the quarter and the government say, you owe us so much in tax and PAYG and all that sort of stuff. And then I go, Ooh shit, I didn't think of that. Jack: Yeah. Mark: So it's just another added element that you need to think about when you're starting a business is making sure you've got separate accounts set up to deposit your tax, your G P A Y G tax and your GST. so that way when the taxman comes with his hand out, you've got that money there to pay it. Now the government do give you leeways, like when you do submit your BAS and all that sort of stuff, you do get some time frames to make those payments. Me, I'd rather just go, right, this I owe X amount of dollars. I'm gonna pay that straight away. Gets it off my hands. Jack: Straight away. Yep. That's the way to do it. Mark: Don't owe the tax man anything 'cause if you owe the tax man something, they will come for it. Jack: Hundred percent. They never forget. One question for ya. Are you paying yourself super? Mark: Yeah, I'm paying myself super. Yeah. Yeah. Mm. Jack: 'Cause I think a lot of people forget that you need to pay yourself Subar as well. Well, you don't need to, but you're not setting yourself up to success later on, so Mark: Look, working working in the companies that I have worked in, I've I've do have a fair bit of super behind me. and sound of sacrificing super for so many years has helped with that. Jack: Yes. Mark: but saying that, I'm still young, relatively young. I've still got a lot of time ahead of me. But also, even if I don't get to use my super, I might pass away early, whatever. Who knows what's gonna happen in the future. I've got a good chunk of money there for the family to be able to live comfortably. you know, be able to live after I go. When and if I do get to retirement age, then I can live comfortably there too. So I'm always gonna pay myself super here. Jack: Yeah. Mark: the good thing about Zero is you can set up the single touch payroll. So you when you hit payroll, it'll automatically pay you super. I think you've got to click another button but it'll then pay super. So my super gets paid at the same time as I do payroll. So I'll click the button, report back to the government, or the P A Y G, what I've earned, all that sort of stuff. Super then gets taken out and sent to the processing house, whatever they call it, before it goes into my account there and then I transfer the money over for myself for pay. So that's how I do it. But yeah, I always make sure I'm paying myself super. Jack: Yeah. yeah, it's just something we haven't spoken about actually. So, I just wanted to mention that because I have heard some horror stories of people not paying themselves super at the end of twenty years of running a business and they're like, shit. I got nothing to retire on, so Mark: Yeah. No, look, I've got a good chunk of super there and I want to make sure I keep keep building on it as well, so yeah. Yeah. Jack: Yeah. Yeah, it's a good thing. Yeah. Mark: All right, this is the best segment I reckon. Weird shit of the week. We are running long, but we're near nearly at the end. So if you've been listening, appreciate that. Jack: Yeah, thanks for sticking around. Mark: that's it, mate, that's it. I want to start with mine first. I didn't put this one in when Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: I sent you the the template earlier for our talking points. this I thought was awesome, and I know you're gonna be behind this. two men in London dressed up as knights and held Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: a jousting event on rental e bikes. Jack: Yes. Mark: Hundreds of people turned up to watch this. hundreds and Jack: Hundreds. yes. Mark: just to tell you, I'll I'll drop the name. It was a Lime bike. Well they were Lime bikes. Jack: Yeah. Mark: Lime obviously had to come out and ruin everyone's fun and say the bikes weren't designed for jousting. But actually Jack: No shit. Mark: it was awesome. Jack: That's are you good. Mark: Yeah. Jack: Gonna have to have a look at this. Mark: Yeah, I'll have to find it for you and I'll send it over to you. But it was so good. But yeah, two dudes dressed up, as knights, on e bikes, jousting with each other. How cool. Yeah. I thought Jack: That's so good. I love it. We should do the same thing here with those motorised SKIs. Mark: That's a good idea. Except instead of jousting poles, you just take beer cans together like they did at Bathurst and use them as the jousting poles. Yeah. Hmm. Did did you have one this week? Jack: And crunch Yeah. I love it. Yeah. Yeah, just a bit of a random one. So man from Virginia, the United States, has been Yeah, Mark: Of course it is. Jack: of course, has been arrested for taping his wife to a chair so he can watch football in peace. Now I don't hate the idea. Mark: Is that a crime though? Jack: The execution was obviously off because someone found out about it and he now he's arrested. But yeah, he's been charged with felony abduction and misdemeanour assault on a family member. So obviously she wasn't stoked with the the idea. But maybe that's why she got tied to a chair as well, so. Mark: Hey look, I I I don't hate the idea. Jack: I don't hate it, but there's probably better ways to execute that. Mark: Yeah, like hey love, how about you go out for a couple of hours while I watch this game? That's Jack: Yeah. well. Mark: that gets you your peace. Jack: Just go to the pub for a couple of hours on your own and watch the game. Yeah. Mark: Yeah, all that too, yeah. Jack: So Mark: Definitely a better way to handle it. Still funny. Yeah. Jack: It's quite funny though. Hilarious. Mark: All right. birdie and bogey segment. Birdie being a good thing that happened in the week, Bodie being a bad thing. I'll go first. I've got mine ready to go. Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: my birdie this week is I'm learning more and more about running a business each week. Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: and I think that's I think that's pretty cool. I'm enjoying that. I'm enjoying the business learning the business aspect of it as well. it's a it's a steep learning curve, but and it's it's Jack: shit, yeah. Mark: it's it's hard, but I'm enjoying it. Jack: Good fun. Mark: yeah, it is a My bogey this week is this fucking rain. Man, it's Jack: No. Mark: it's been relentless pretty much all week. We had three hours of sun on Wednesday where it was like fifty degrees in the shade. The sun was killer for about three hours and then it turned to be like fifteen degrees twenty minutes later. The other side of thing with this rain is the dog. Obviously, you know I've got a medium sized dog who's very energetic, Jack: Mm. Mark: he's a beautiful dog, absolutely love him. But he can't go I don't take him out in the rain. Because he does get quite smelly 'cause he's quite a furry dog. And Jack: He's a bit fluffy. Mark: he's going absolute batshit crazy this week. Like he's just got so Jack: Yeah. Poor bagger. Mark: much energy. I need to find a way to be able to take him out when it's raining. or maybe buy a treadmill and put him on the treadmill for a few hours. He loves to run, he loves to chase, Jack: Yeah. Mark: so yeah, I just need to find something for him to do. Jack: Yeah. The other side of that rain is we're supposed to play golf tomorrow, but Mark: Yes. Jack: I looked at some photos from the Beerware Golf Club and it is looking more like a swimming pool than a golf course. Mark: Yeah. Jack: So that is out. Mark: we can't play water polo. No, I'm about to. I d I don't particularly Jack: I've never played, but let's go. Mark: feel like getting getting too drenched. I Jack: No, no, definitely not. Mark: don't mind playing in a little bit of rain, but the rain that we've had this week has just been nuts. Jack: not like this, yeah. well my birdie this week is my young fella's birthday's in a couple of days. So he is eleven, so Mark: Mm, it is. Jack: happy birthday. did a little thing for him tonight because his birthday is handover day for us. Goes back to his mum, so we did something tonight and give him a chance to enjoy his cake throughout the week and play with all these presents and that, so yeah, it was a good little night. Mark: Yeah, sweet, that's good. Yeah. Happy birthday to the little fella. Jack: And the bogey, what do I have? Look, probably the rain as well, to be honest. It's 'cause it's ruined my work for the business while I'm on middays off, so yeah, it's just throwing a huge spanner in the works. Luckily I have my next round of work, full time job, off, so I some have some time to catch up, but yeah, this rain can bugger off. Mark: Slight bit of catch up there on the jobs. That'll be good. Mm. Jack: yeah. Yeah. Mark: Yeah. Alright, well I guess that's a wrap for this week. just wanna say that everyone as well, like YouTube is a go, so if you wanna see our ugly mugs Jack: Mm. Mark: on you know, while we're talking about all this shit, you can. on YouTube Fairway Two Friday is our handle on YouTube. Like and subscribe. Jack: Yep. And you did a great job of editing that as well, by the way. Mark: thank you, appreciate that. It takes a bit actually. Like I'm Jack: Mm. Mark: getting better at it each time. Did fuck a little bit last week, but you know, that's it's part of the learning curve. Jack: That's right. That's right. Mark: So yeah, like and subscribe to us on all platforms. I'm gonna say this, but Jack made a good point earlier on. just hit play, mute and walk away. But we are looking for sponsors as well. and also we want to increase our listeners and viewers, so we would love for you to listen to us as well. Jack: Yeah. Share with your friends and family. Tell we're awesome, even if we're not. Mark: Or better still, just say, Hey, there's these two dickheads that are trying a podcast. Have a listen to Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. Jack: Yeah. And just lie to everyone you know, basically. Yeah. Mark: what's come up for you this week? Jack: Yeah, like I just said, I got my a round off from my full time job, so yeah, not much over the weekend. Hopefully maybe go to that World Cup game. but yeah, next week will be full noise with the business to catch up from this rainy weather. Mark: Perfect. One thing I want to say before I go, is wanna shout out to your niece again. it Jack: Mm-hmm. Mark: is her birthday today on the twenty second. So happy birthday to her. I Jack: It is. Yep. Happy birthday. Mark: she mustn't have listen to last week's episode yet because she hasn't commented. Jack: Ooh. Mark: so I thought I'd throw this one in at the end to just say happy birthday and if she's gonna listen, maybe I can redeem myself, get some brownie points back. Jack: Well, she did mess message her for her birthday today and she replied saying I'm the world's shittest uncle so you know. Look, Mark: Like you woke up, you yeah. Jack: she's not wrong, but that still hurts my feeling. The one I have left. Mark: well. The one you have left it's now hurt. So Jack: Yeah. Mark: All right, well on that note everyone, keep it real and we shall see you all next week. Jack: Thank you very much. See us later. Mark: Peace out.
