- 0:00The problem that we're seeing with peptides nowadays is that people are thinking that peptides
- 0:04are a way to control what I eat or peptides are a way that I can skip a gym and still
- 0:09build muscle.
- 0:10Peptides are a way that I can sleep better.
- 0:13There's no shortcut to just having good health hygiene.
- 0:19So there are some things that need to be done before you really get into this and start
- 0:23paying attention.
- 0:25Hey guys, it's Dr. Mark here with Age Defiantly and I wanted to bring you a message
- 0:31about a topic that I get asked a lot.
- 0:34Okay.
- 0:35We're in our mailing list.
- 0:36I get a lot of people who reply back and ask these questions and it all relates to
- 0:40a topic that everybody's talking about and that's peptides.
- 0:44I want to give you some background information here on peptides, the use of peptides, what
- 0:48it all means.
- 0:49And I specifically want to touch who should be using peptides?
- 0:53Who shouldn't be using peptides?
- 0:55What are the mistakes the people are making with peptides?
- 0:58Because I don't want you to make foolish mistakes.
- 1:00Number one, because of your health, number two, because of the money that you're going
- 1:03to spend doing that and there's no reason to spend the money on something that's going
- 1:07to not do you any benefit anyways.
- 1:09So first thing I want to touch on is this topic of who should be taking peptides and who
- 1:15should not.
- 1:16The first thing I want to point out, so let's talk about what's a peptide though.
- 1:20Peptides are short chain amino acids and amino acids are the building blocks of proteins.
- 1:25So what we're looking at here is you're putting in the ingredients that makes a protein.
- 1:31They are creating bigger strands, bigger strands from that become proteins, right?
- 1:37And proteins control the functions that are in your body.
- 1:40Now your body has about a million different types of proteins.
- 1:42In fact, it's estimated that we don't even know, we've only named about 15% of them.
- 1:47So you can imagine when it comes to peptides, we're really, really ankles deep in this
- 1:53based on what there is to know.
- 1:55But what we're trying to do is use them to manipulate very specific systems in the body.
- 2:00Here's the issue, all peptides.
- 2:02When you start with the basic ingredients of a protein, you're creating building blocks.
- 2:07And building blocks are always going to amplify whatever else is already going out in your
- 2:12system.
- 2:13So starting with who shouldn't be taking peptides?
- 2:17Pretty much anybody who is not already optimized what's going on in their body.
- 2:22If you haven't already dealt with the basics, don't try going for the stretch of a peptide.
- 2:29Think of like back when steroids were such a big deal, right?
- 2:31Well, sure, but it was leading to longer term damage.
- 2:35The problem that we're seeing with peptides nowadays is that people are thinking that peptides
- 2:39are a way to control what I eat or change what I eat or peptides are a way that I can skip
- 2:45a gym and still build build muscle.
- 2:48Peptides are a way that I can sleep better.
- 2:50The reality is guys is there's no shortcut to just having good health hygiene.
- 2:57And by that, I mean things like you need to be eating correctly.
- 3:01You need to be sleeping correctly.
- 3:03You need to be mobile.
- 3:05You need to be lifting heavy things.
- 3:08All of that stuff needs to be in place.
- 3:10Then peptides are a way that you can amplify your results, but you already need to be on
- 3:15the path to results.
- 3:17The one big thing I want to point out here, and this was came to me as news as a matter
- 3:20fact, probably a year or two ago is the first time I heard it and I stopped in my tracks.
- 3:24I'm like, my gosh, that's so true.
- 3:26My belief is that nobody should be using a peptide if they haven't been checked for cancer.
- 3:32And my reasoning behind that is because, again, peptides are building blocks of proteins.
- 3:36And if proteins in your body are already dysfunctional, they are growth agonists.
- 3:42Any time that you're using any type of peptide, it is amplifying whatever else is going
- 3:46on in your body.
- 3:48So while amplifying bad health habits is bad, amplifying cancer cells is worse.
- 3:54So there are some things that need to be done before you really get into this and start
- 3:59paying attention.
- 4:00But I want to take a look at our readiness checklist is what I refer to it as.
- 4:04Let's start with sleep.
- 4:06Sleep is your body's repair mode.
- 4:09It literally is the time that your body is able to shut down all of the systems at once
- 4:14and reboot.
- 4:15So think about it like a computer, right?
- 4:17You've turned your computer off and what does it do?
- 4:19It gives you that message and says, oh, you still have a couple of applications open.
- 4:23What do you want us to do with those?
- 4:25And most of us are like, I restart anyways, right?
- 4:28The reality is is that you damage the program when it doesn't shut down properly.
- 4:32A lot of times you end up with corrupt files, your body runs the same way.
- 4:36It's the reason why we tell you don't eat for about four hours before you go to bed.
- 4:41Why?
- 4:42Well, because if your goal is during sleep to shut down your body and let all of your
- 4:47systems reboot, how does your digestive system actually reboot if it's still active?
- 4:54It's still actually having to run through the night because you fed it too soon before
- 4:58going to bed.
- 5:00So sleep is a huge important thing and probably one of the most underrated biohacks, if I can
- 5:05use that word, biohacks that you can possibly have seven to eight hours, dark rooms.
- 5:12We don't want to be drowning ourselves in melatonin by the way.
- 5:16That is people's new hack for, I'm going to take melatonin and then I'm just going
- 5:20to fall asleep because that's great.
- 5:21And then they wake up groggy and they're miserable and then they end up pounding caffeine
- 5:25all day long.
- 5:26The reality is asleep is a very specific biohack that cannot be minimized.
- 5:35You must be paying attention to that.
- 5:37I recommend wearables.
- 5:38I wear an aura ring and it tracks my sleep.
- 5:41It tells me how often I woke up if I was restless, what was going on, some of my hacks.
- 5:46I make sure that I'm not eating for hours before I go to bed.
- 5:49I make sure that I'm not staring at screens, hours before going to bed because we have
- 5:55messed up our circadian rhythm in such a way that what's happening is our TVs, our artificial
- 6:02lighting in our homes, our cell phones, they're making our brains think it's daytime.
- 6:08When the rest of our body recognizes that it's night and we're falling out of synchrony
- 6:13between those two things, my recommendation is that you need some time, okay, whether
- 6:18that's two hours before you fall asleep, you know, we need to start dimming lights.
- 6:22Perhaps you see people wearing like blue-blocking glasses, but it doesn't even need to be that
- 6:27dramatic.
- 6:28Just you need some time and dimmer lights.
- 6:30Let your body get the signal that it's time to go to bed.
- 6:34Your body's going to naturally create melatonin.
- 6:37You don't need to supplement that if you're winding down the correct way.
- 6:42Read a book.
- 6:43Do something else.
- 6:44I actually have gotten in the habit of turning on the TV in my living room and it has some
- 6:49of those like spa tracks and stuff like that.
- 6:52Literally, I turn one on and it's amazing how I just immediately downregulate.
- 6:56I just downregulate lights in my house.
- 6:59I keep at a softer level so that it's not I've got like my main light in my living room,
- 7:05dining room area.
- 7:06It's on a dimmer.
- 7:07I just turn the dimmer down a little bit.
- 7:09I don't need spotlights in the middle of the house.
- 7:12The second thing I want to point out is the temperature when you sleep.
- 7:16I sleep on a chili pad, which actually keeps my body temperature lower because the colder
- 7:21you are, the easier it is for your body to recuperate.
- 7:25Dark rooms, pull the shades, get the cell phone out of your room like how many people are
- 7:31sleeping with EMF exposure right at your head all night long.
- 7:37Use your body trying to reset and you're pumping magnetic waves through it all night long.
- 7:44That's not fair.
- 7:45Give yourself a chance here.
- 7:47Get the phone out of the room.
- 7:48Nothing is that important.
- 7:49If you need to know if there's an emergency, turn the ring around high and leave it in
- 7:52the kitchen.
- 7:53You can hear it from there.
- 7:54Let's get that sleep dialed in.
- 7:56The second thing I want to pay attention to is protein.
- 8:00Our diets are not accidental.
- 8:03We have this tendency to eat and I always say that we eat with our ears, which is kind
- 8:08of a funny phrase, but my intention behind it is, when the last time you went out with
- 8:12a friend, what is the phrase you use?
- 8:14I don't know what sounds good.
- 8:17What sounds good is irrelevant because that's your body just paying attention to its cravings.
- 8:22That's not your body paying attention to its needs.
- 8:26Diet needs to be intentional.
- 8:28And really, I mentioned protein than necessity of getting and they're estimating 0.7 to one
- 8:34gram of protein for every pound, not every pound that you weigh, but for every pound of
- 8:40your ideal weight.
- 8:42So for me, that calculates my ideal weight is around 180 pounds because I'm a big guy.
- 8:47I'm six foot four.
- 8:49180 pounds means that I need to be eating about 180 grams of protein a day, about 150 grams
- 8:55of protein minimum.
- 8:58And when we talk about longevity and aging defiantly, muscle is the currency of longevity.
- 9:05The more muscle you have, predictably, the longer you live.
- 9:08And I don't need examples of people saying, oh, but bodybuilders, most of that is enhanced.
- 9:13Let's just pay attention to the average human being.
- 9:15And when you're focusing on muscle, you will actually live longer because your systems
- 9:20are getting fed properly.
- 9:22And that's everything from your body's ability to to flush glucose, to keeping insulin resistance
- 9:29down, to stability to actually not fall to muscle feeding bone density.
- 9:34All of these things are true.
- 9:36Get up, move, particularly after you've eaten.
- 9:41The third one I want to pay attention to is that working out, that resistance training
- 9:45really married to this protein intake is the idea that we need to be working out.
- 9:50We need to be there.
- 9:51And for some people, they're like, oh, I just don't like going to the gym.
- 9:54Well, you don't need to work out in the gym.
- 9:56Literally, this can be a matter of somebody going and working out because they walk for
- 10:0230 minutes after dinner or a person who goes and plays tennis or pickle balls a big thing
- 10:07now.
- 10:08Like find an activity that you enjoy, but get off the chair, get off the couch like we
- 10:13sit all day long.
- 10:16I just read a study recently and it was titled so provocatively that sitting is the
- 10:21new smoking that we talked about how smoking was so bad and how are people so stupid because
- 10:26they smoked back in before people knew what was going on and whatever.
- 10:29And it's like, here's the reality like we sit all day long.
- 10:33We have these sedentary lifestyles that just don't get us up and moving.
- 10:37And then we wonder why our body doesn't know how to function in activity or the body
- 10:42stays so sedentary.
- 10:44And then what do we do?
- 10:45We take 45 minutes a day and then we just beat that out of our bodies and call that exercise.
- 10:51Exercise and movement should be part of our daily routine.
- 10:54That's a take dinner, take a walk, make sure that you're getting up and doing something
- 10:58in the morning, stretching squats, something you can do.
- 11:02Get some sunlight, take a walk, walk the dog, whatever it is.
- 11:05I know a lot of people even in our office will go out and walk in the afternoon or have
- 11:10done that.
- 11:11It's lunch and then a couple of the girls will go walk around the building a few times.
- 11:15That's so healthy and it's helping you stay mobile.
- 11:18The fourth thing that I want to pay attention to is blood work.
- 11:22And I know I mentioned earlier about like if you have cancer or any kind of progressive
- 11:26issue, you want to make sure that you know what's going on in your body before you amplify
- 11:30it because if it's great, you amplify great and if it's terrible, you amplify terrible.
- 11:36I recommend to everybody that at least annually, you should be getting panels of your blood
- 11:41work done and storing those results.
- 11:43Now, I know a lot of people actually store those results on you know, spreadsheets or
- 11:48they just keep all the printouts and then they compare them side by side.
- 11:51The reality is is that my my hack to people is find a way to gamify your health.
- 11:58Like literally I change my supplement stack about every six months because something's
- 12:02different in my body.
- 12:04Some of that just may be stress levels.
- 12:06Some of that could be because I've taken enough of a supplement for six months that my
- 12:10body says we're good.
- 12:11I don't need that anymore.
- 12:12Some of it could be a change in my diet.
- 12:14It can be because I traveled extensively during that period of time.
- 12:18It could just be nutrition.
- 12:20Any of those things can affect what's going on in my blood work and I need to be very cognizant
- 12:24of it.
- 12:25And I'll tell you what recently I had blood work done and it was a result I didn't like
- 12:29and a couple of categories and I'm like, wow, like that completely caught me off guard.
- 12:34But here's the way I do it.
- 12:35I'm like, okay, I'm going to make some very fast fixes in that area and I'm going to have
- 12:40my blood read down in about two weeks because two things.
- 12:44Blood work is only a one snapshot in time.
- 12:48And the second thing is I want to know if my decisions are actually getting to a better
- 12:53outcome.
- 12:54So I'm going to make those fast fixes.
- 12:56I'm going to test again.
- 12:57And then I'm going to test again.
- 12:58And I have mine done about every six months because I want to know what's going on inside
- 13:03of me.
- 13:04And part of that is you've all been there like over the holidays this year.
- 13:06I was terrible.
- 13:08And I'm like, I'm used to feeling really good.
- 13:10And man, coming out of the holidays, I felt like garbage.
- 13:14And as I hate that feeling, I don't want to grow old feeling like garbage.
- 13:18I want to age, but I want to do it in a defiant manner that keeps my energy, keeps everything
- 13:25about me.
- 13:26My mindset, my clarity, all of that I want at top performance.
- 13:29In fact, I use a lot of AI tools to actually track a lot of my own health results.
- 13:34And my AI knows that everything about me needs to be measured against a 30 year old, not
- 13:39a 50 year old because I want to function like a 30 year old.
- 13:42And you know, and it's funny because my health assistant in my AI world is always asking
- 13:46like, well, what do you mean by that?
- 13:47Do you mean energy?
- 13:48Do you mean libido?
- 13:49Like, what does that all mean?
- 13:50Like, all of it.
- 13:51All of it.
- 13:52I don't want to be baseline to get someone my age.
- 13:56I want to be baseline to get someone 20 years younger than me because that's how I think.
- 14:01That's how I choose to show up in the world.
- 14:03And I want to know everything there is to get me there.
- 14:06So I want to talk a little bit now like these things that I'm going to tell you, we need
- 14:09to make sure that all of this is functioning.
- 14:11We need to make sure that you're moving that you're diet and everything else.
- 14:15And now I kind of want to move into what are we talking about with peptides?
- 14:19What are the ones that everybody's talking about and what do they really matter?
- 14:22The obvious.
- 14:23I'd be remiss in not calling out GLP ones, right?
- 14:26Everyone's talking about GLP one agonist.
- 14:29The latest is retractitude, which is the redder GLP3, which is a triple agonist.
- 14:35These are great.
- 14:36I'm going to be honest with you and say, I'm a big fan.
- 14:37A lot of people talk about how they don't like them.
- 14:40I'm going to tell you I'm a big fan of GLP ones, but probably for a different reason.
- 14:45And I'm not a big fan because they just happened to curb appetite and possibly increase metabolism
- 14:50on a one definitely on a three.
- 14:52My reason for liking GLP ones is because I don't know about you, but sometimes life runs
- 14:57off the rails and I just want to push a reset button.
- 15:01And not too often in life do you get to do that?
- 15:03Like, could you imagine just not having to pay the rent for six months?
- 15:06Like that would be amazing.
- 15:07Like, not pay the rent for six months, catch up, put some money in the bank and now you
- 15:11can breathe a little better.
- 15:13Same thing happens with our diet.
- 15:14Same thing happened with our exercise.
- 15:16Like I would love to just have a period of time that I'm like, man, I wish I just didn't
- 15:20have to eat for three months because that would make me really reset a lot of my habits.
- 15:25Kind of GLP ones are giving us that opportunity.
- 15:28They're actually slowing down our digestive system.
- 15:31They are causing in some people some problems because they're getting gastrointestinal back
- 15:35up.
- 15:36And a lot of people, about 60% of people are having some issues with them.
- 15:41I'll say side effects, you know, things like reflux, things like I'm going to say anxiety,
- 15:45but maybe a little bit of that too, but people are getting nausea.
- 15:49That sort of stuff is happening with these, but it's still worth it.
- 15:53My opinion, however, is that it should give you a pause on your habits.
- 15:58If you come off of a GLP one at whatever weight you come off of a GLP one and you aren't
- 16:05better suited to go have better habits in the world, you're making a huge mistake because
- 16:13all you've done is gotten thinner and now you're going to go back to your old way of life
- 16:16and you're going to put all that weight back on because those are the same habits that
- 16:19got it there to begin with.
- 16:21The goal of the GLP one is to give yourself a hiatus from your habits to reprogram them,
- 16:28restructure them, find different things that you can do and you get the reward of pretty
- 16:33rapid weight loss.
- 16:35But the biggest thing is that it allows you to fix the habits.
- 16:38The same goes for physical fitness, the same goes for sleep.
- 16:42All of these things need an interrupt if there are a problem.
- 16:46The GLP ones that I'm referring to the ozempics, the manjaros, the semeglotides, all of that
- 16:52stuff, whether it's a prescription brand or an off-label peptide, the reality is they're
- 16:57doing the same thing.
- 16:58I'm a big fan.
- 17:00Some of my other favorites, which are for muscle gain, are things like C.J.C., E.P.
- 17:04Moralin, Tessamoralin, all great things, all muscle growth agonist.
- 17:09All of these things actually trigger greater production of human growth hormones.
- 17:16You're getting a growth hormone boost while you're on these, but again, here's the problem.
- 17:22You can't grow if you're not working out.
- 17:26These are going to trigger greater muscle growth only if you are growing muscle already.
- 17:33There isn't an end between there.
- 17:35Those are the big categories that people look at.
- 17:38There's plenty of other peptides I have a tendency to use Melanitane 2.
- 17:43Why do I use Melanitane 2?
- 17:44Well, simply because I like having darker skin.
- 17:48Melanitane actually will trigger tanning.
- 17:50It actually increases melanin production in the skin.
- 17:52I live in South Florida.
- 17:53It's really easy for me to walk out in sunlight and get a tan naturally.
- 17:57Melanitane doesn't really fast.
- 17:58I like the way I look.
- 18:00Great.
- 18:01I've biohacked my way into a tan.
- 18:03Here's the problem.
- 18:04I shouldn't be doing it in exchange of spending time in actual sunlight.
- 18:10Because being in the sunlight is good for you.
- 18:13For me, I use it as a protective measure because I do spend time in the sunlight.
- 18:16So if I already have a tan being out in the sunlight, I don't burn as easily.
- 18:20I love that.
- 18:21When I'm out playing beach volleyball, that I'm the only person who's not on the beach
- 18:24slathering myself in sunblock because I'm okay.
- 18:28That's a good use of a peptide.
- 18:30Something I want to talk about now, though, is this idea of sourcing?
- 18:34It's a big issue right now.
- 18:36In January of 2026, everything seemed to change because at the end of 2025, the government
- 18:41put a lot of restrictions on what peptides could be sold.
- 18:45We're also seeing that a lot of the major peptides, such as GLP3s, patents to them are now
- 18:51owned by things like Lilly Pharmaceuticals, so we're getting pharma companies that are shutting
- 18:55them.
- 18:56We're getting the government coming in to shut things down.
- 18:58My opinion right now is I'm happy to see that Bobby Kennedy Jr. is stepping in and
- 19:03saying, no, no, no, we need to get peptides available to people because these are a way
- 19:07that people could actually control their own health.
- 19:10Here's my one issue with that, and it's the entire reason why I'm having this conversation
- 19:15with you right now.
- 19:16I'm a big fan of things being available to people so that they can actually experiment
- 19:21and control their own health decisions.
- 19:24My problem with it is I think people make a lot of mistakes for lack of information,
- 19:29but we live in a world where information is absolutely everywhere.
- 19:35My goal is to tell you, I'm a big fan of peptides, I think peptides are a great way to magnify
- 19:39the good things that are already going on in your life, hopefully not the bad things,
- 19:43but education about safety, education about the proper sourcing that are being used in
- 19:49making these peptides.
- 19:51Further, using the correct dosages is probably one of my biggest fears for people.
- 19:56That is, peptides are most actually labeled for not for human use, so there is no specific
- 20:02dosing because you're buying them over the shelf or online and this type of stuff, and
- 20:09because of that, it doesn't tell you how much to take.
- 20:12Being able to reconstitute a peptide in the exact way that even the instructions are
- 20:16given can be confusing for people.
- 20:18I get those calls all the time, safety first.
- 20:22When you're using a peptide, I definitely recommend that if you're new to this, you need to
- 20:26get in touch with a friend or someone you trust to health coach, even if it's not a doctor,
- 20:32but I want you to get a hold of somebody that can help you titrate on to these things so
- 20:36that you are actually pacing yourself to go.
- 20:39Guys, I'm specifically talking to you when I tell you, I completely understand if one
- 20:44is good, 12 is better, right?
- 20:46That's just the way our brains work.
- 20:48If 25ccs of semeglotide helps curb my appetite, well, 50, you'll just shut it right down.
- 20:56True.
- 20:57It may also shut down your entire digestive system to the point that you can't even have
- 21:01a stomach that works.
- 21:02We're getting people that are getting super bloated, getting intestinal backups and all
- 21:06this because they're shutting their bodies down.
- 21:10All this is meant to do is slow things.
- 21:12In the case of muscle growth, you're getting guys that are getting completely sick.
- 21:16Here's the thing.
- 21:17I'm a fan of things like CJC, test moral and whatnot.
- 21:20I'm a fan of exogenous testosterone.
- 21:23Here's the thing.
- 21:25When you introduce things to your body that already are natural to your body, your body
- 21:31reads it as that it doesn't have to produce its own anymore because we must be okay.
- 21:36There's plenty here.
- 21:38Imagine the case that you were the chef, but all everybody was already full because they
- 21:42already had food on the table.
- 21:43You'd quit cooking.
- 21:45There was no one left to feed.
- 21:47The same thing is happening with GLP1 users who are on it for too long.
- 21:51GLP naturally exists in your body.
- 21:55When you're taking a GLP1 that's shorthand, it's a GLP1 agonist, which literally means
- 22:02that you are triggering GLP production in your body, the natural kind.
- 22:08When you're doing that, your body will over time stop producing its own GLP1 or significantly
- 22:14slow it.
- 22:16My recommendation to friends is if you're going to use a GLP1 two weeks on, one week off,
- 22:21pace that, cadence it so your body doesn't forget how to do what it should.
- 22:26But all of that to say, titrating, making sure that you're slow on, you're slow off,
- 22:32making sure that you're dosing is correct, making sure that you are responsibly buying only
- 22:36peptides that are high quality, making sure that you are having a conversation with people
- 22:41in your life that you are taking this type of stuff who can help you make those decisions.
- 22:46But further, we need to make sure, as an example, if something were to happen negative
- 22:51to you, that somebody would be able to tell a doctor or a hospital what else you had in
- 22:56your body aside from dinner.
- 22:58We need to make sure that that information is shared, if not with your doctor, somewhere
- 23:02someone needs to know what you're on so that that stuff can be treated in a medical environment.
- 23:08The goal of this guy is that peptides are amazing.
- 23:10peptides are doing some amazing things.
- 23:12I'm a huge fan, I regularly use things like BPC157 for tissue regrowth and GHKCU for
- 23:22for skin and for hair and nail health, like all of that stuff is important.
- 23:27That's just copper.
- 23:29You're introducing things to your body that are normal to your body.
- 23:32I'm a big fan, but I'm just going to go on record to saying, be careful.
- 23:38Reach out to me.
- 23:39I'll gladly help you in any way that I can.
- 23:42Find friends in your community that are already doing this.
- 23:44Let's keep it safe, but here's we're going to go back to the basics here, right?
- 23:47Four things.
- 23:48I need to make sure that your sleep is under control, that your diets under control, that
- 23:52your workouts are under control, and that you actually have labs to know where your current
- 23:57body is so that you can make smart decisions.
- 24:00Safety first, making sure that you're watching out for this stuff, and I encourage you, do
- 24:04your reading, jump on ChadGPT, do what you got to do, but know what you're talking about
- 24:09before you go introducing things into your body, all right?
- 24:12Encourage you, age defiantly, and stick with us for next time, we'll see you soon.
