- 0:11Good morning, Good morning, good morning, and welcome to show four thousand,
- 0:16nine hundred and seventy six of The Morning Show with Preston Scott Cruising.
- 0:21The show five thousand scheduled tentatively for the day after Labor Day in early September,
- 0:30but we thank you as always for joining us. We try not to
- 0:33ever let you down dutifully running the program over there is Grant Allen in Studio
- 0:38one A. I'm here in Studio one B and I'm thrilled to have back
- 0:41with us for his monthly visit. Lee Williams aka the gun Writer. You
- 0:45can find his work at the gunwriter dot substack dot com. Support the work
- 0:49that he does, and Lee, welcome back to the show. How are
- 0:52you, my brother? Oh man, it has been a month, hasn't
- 0:55it? Yeah? Yeah, it absolutely has. In fact, before I
- 1:00get to some of the stories that you've been covering, because they're so important,
- 1:03and I'm really encouraging people to sign up, get on your email distribution
- 1:10list, get hooked up into the articles that you're writing, because you're covering
- 1:14things that really impact our livelihoods. Because if it impacts the Second Amendment,
- 1:21it impacts the rest of it. If we don't keep the Second Amendment strongly.
- 1:25The rest of it's gone. So let me first get your reaction when
- 1:29you saw the plea deal blow up for Hunter Biden, which included gun charges
- 1:34that some people are sitting in prison over. What was your reaction. I
- 1:40laughed. I knew it was going to explode. I've worked in Delaware.
- 1:42Delaware as a corrupt little state and that everybody knows everybody or is related to
- 1:48everybody, so I knew they're going to try and put a fix in.
- 1:51Thank god, we have a good judge who understood the law and stop that
- 1:56cold. I've never seen a case like this where you have the defense attorneys
- 2:00and the prosecution acting as co conspirators basically to get Hunter off and get him
- 2:07off forever it was. It was disgusting. I'm glad it stop. I'm
- 2:10glad it was called out. Now. I wonder if the prosecution is going
- 2:15to do what they would traditionally do, which would be to charge him with
- 2:19everything they've got. That's what you do. When they plead guilty or when
- 2:22they plead not guilty, justice will step up and say, okay, you
- 2:24want to go to trial, here's the charges. I'm really wondering what they're
- 2:29going to do, if they're going to do that for Hunter. Well,
- 2:30but obviously the justice departments compromise because they work for Joe Biden. And you
- 2:38just have to wonder if the best strategy here is, and I don't know
- 2:42how you employ it, would be to somehow string this thing out until we
- 2:46have a new person in the White House. Yeah, they could, but
- 2:52you know, I'm still hoping. I've still got a little bit of hope
- 2:54left that the people in charge will now realize that, Hey, the whole
- 2:59country's watching. Everybody knows this is a dual standard of justice. Let's do
- 3:02the right thing, Let's charge him up, and let's move forward. Ultimately,
- 3:07I've seen the speculation Joe pardon's Hunter and then steps down and doesn't run.
- 3:13If he truly loves his son he says he does, that's a heck
- 3:16of a possibility. I don't know either way it's going to play out.
- 3:20At least it will be in the public eye right now. I was shocked
- 3:23when I saw that that plea deal that basically offered him immunity for everything under
- 3:28the sun. It's just a complete miscarriage of justice. Unlike anything you or
- 3:32I would ever dream of seeing. I still go back to that young lady
- 3:37in Iowa who lied on her forty four seventy three about her drug abuse,
- 3:42just like Hunter did. She's serving a year and a day in the federal
- 3:45prison. News, Weather, traffic, and the big stories in the press
- 3:50box. The fastest three hours in media. And don't be surprised if you
- 3:54have a chuckle here and there. Just like that, it's the Morning Show
- 4:02with Preston Scott. All right, you're caught up on weather, in traffic.
- 4:11We're joined by Lee Williams, the gunwriter dot substack dot com. You
- 4:15can subscribe easily to the emails and get information you're just not going to find
- 4:20anywhere else, especially as it relates to the Second Amendment, firearms and all
- 4:26of the issues that surrounded Lee. You've been following the ATF and some of
- 4:30the things that they're doing to just sort of lay a little bit of a
- 4:32groundwork for our listeners, explain what a home based gun dealer is. You
- 4:40can get federal firearm license to sell guns without a brick and mortar store.
- 4:46A lot of people do. It was wildly popular, more popular years ago
- 4:49than it is now. But There are a lot of people who have a
- 4:54federal firearms license who sell guns out of their home. They'll either have a
- 4:58space dedicated in their basement or a spare room, and that's where they operate.
- 5:01And there's nothing wrong with that. It's one hundred percent legal. Now,
- 5:05what's the ATF been doing. They've been abusing them. They've been trying
- 5:12to force them out of business. They'll hit him with a swat. They
- 5:15hit this poor guy in Oklahoma. He's a high school teacher. He's also
- 5:19an ordained Baptist pastor. They hit his house with a twelve man ATF SWAT
- 5:24team, cuffed him in front of his thirteen year old son, yelled and
- 5:28berated him on the porch until finally he said, well, do you want
- 5:31my FFL? That bad? Here it is, and he voluntarily quote unquote
- 5:35surrendered his federal firearms license. This is what they're doing because Joe Biden said
- 5:42two years ago the country's overrun with quote rogue gun dealers. Of course there
- 5:47aren't any, so the ATF is going out of their way to try and
- 5:51get him scolts. They're trying to get FFLs. They're revoking them, or
- 5:57they're going to these kitchen table guys as they used to be called, home
- 6:00based gun dealers, and they're trying to intimidate them into surrendering their license,
- 6:04and unfortunately it's working. A couple times, they tried the same crap to
- 6:10a guy in Texas who's been a home based gun dealer for thirty years,
- 6:14and he said, no, he's fighting. But yeah, they're trying to
- 6:17intimidate them through force of arms preston into surrendering their federal firem's license. It's
- 6:23a huge civil rights violation. It is a pattern and practice of civil rights
- 6:28violations. I hope there will be a lawsuit, probably a class action coming
- 6:32soon against the after doing this, because this is wrong, and most importantly,
- 6:38they're gonna get somebody killed, gonna get somebody killed. Let's use the
- 6:43guy in Oklahoma as an example. After the shock of what happened and I
- 6:47get it, I mean I get the shock, and you're just you're in
- 6:53a total panic after it wears off. What has he said in the in
- 6:58the aftermath of it. Is he thinking about a lawsuit? He may,
- 7:02I think we're going to have a heck of a lot of more plainests in
- 7:05his situation. So it wouldn't be just him. You know, he was
- 7:11scared. He's a good man, talking him at like he's a great guy,
- 7:15but he's you know, he's a high school teacher, he has a
- 7:19he's got a church. That scared the hell out of him, especially since
- 7:24his kid was there. And the thing is, the ATF phone was in
- 7:28a dent said hey, we're going to come over. So he thought he
- 7:30was going to see a couple agents, maybe a couple inspectors, and then
- 7:32they hit him with the swat team. I mean, he was legitimately scared.
- 7:39And of course then they take all his guns. And we don't know
- 7:42why because he hasn't been charged with anything, but they took all his guns.
- 7:46Anyway, Lee, if there, if there were such a thing as
- 7:53a rogue gun dealer, wouldn't that in fact fall right back on the federal
- 7:59government Because it's a federal firearms license, right, So they've they've gone through
- 8:05the steps that the federal government has required of them to establish their their credibility
- 8:11and their lawfulness to obtain the license. So isn't this in fact an indictment
- 8:16on them? It is? It is, And here's the here's the strange
- 8:22part. You know, I everybody I know says, if we truly have
- 8:26a rogue, if we have somebody who's not running background checks or who's transferring
- 8:30firearms to prohibited people with felony records, mine take them out, charge them,
- 8:33do whatever you got to do. But they had, they had to
- 8:35change the standards so substantially to be able to start revoking f FFLs before.
- 8:41If an FFL made an f a gun dealer made a clerical error on a
- 8:46forum, you know that was what it is. It was a clerical error.
- 8:48Now ATF considers it a willful violation and ATF rules and your license is
- 8:54forfeit. It sounds incredible, It sounds unbelievable, but it's true. Tell
- 9:00me FLA on your phone with the iHeart radio app and on hundreds of devices
- 9:03like Electa, Google Home, Xbox, and Sosharts Radioization twenty one passed the
- 9:15hour back with Lee Williams The gun Writer again. It's really easy to find
- 9:20his work The gun Writer dot substack dot com. That's it, and you
- 9:26can subscribe and you'll get notified with stories throughout the week, newsletters, really
- 9:33good information. Lead back a couple It was a few years ago in fact
- 9:37more, it was before COVID. In fact, it was in the wake
- 9:41of one of these shootings that Dick Sporting Goods Academy Sports started to say no
- 9:48to carrying certain firearms. And we always kind of said, okay, bass
- 9:52Pro shops hanging in there, But what what am I seeing here as far
- 9:58as their background check policies? What's changed? This kind of freaked us out
- 10:03a lot of us. I'm totally with you, support your local gun shop.
- 10:07I do not buy guns at the big box gun stores. Sometimes guys
- 10:11will go there just because they have more more selection. A guy from Tampa,
- 10:16Cecil Tremble, thirty five year old manages a restaurant, went to Basspro
- 10:20to get some fishing year taking care of sauce sig sixty five x Macro that
- 10:26he'd been looking for eight hundred bucks for it. That's not a bad price.
- 10:31So he plunks down his concealed weapon license support bills out of forty four
- 10:37seventy three expects to walk out of there with that pistol within fifteen twenty minutes.
- 10:41And the clerk came over to him and I'm quoting here. The ATF
- 10:45has approved you, but we're denying the purchase life told them, yeah,
- 10:50I know. Right. Turns out they maintain a list of addresses of people
- 10:54who have been denied on a background check, and Trimble's brother in law,
- 11:01who lived with him years ago, had been in there about a month ago,
- 11:05and he'd never updated his driver's license, so he's still got Trimble's address
- 11:11on there, and he self denies on a forty four or seventy three,
- 11:15meaning he's screwed up one of the questions, which is kind of easy to
- 11:18do if you're in a hurry. Are you refuse you too from justice?
- 11:20Yes? Or something like that. So because they had the same address,
- 11:26Trimble was told it's store policy that they would not sell it to him.
- 11:30Now, of course they're thinking of a straw purchase, right, But a
- 11:33straw purchase usually happens within seventy two hours. Somebody goes in, they want
- 11:37to buy a block, they get denied. Somebody comes in same address,
- 11:41like five hours later they want to buy the same block. That's a that's
- 11:43a straw purchase, buying for somebody else. But Trimble's brother in law tried
- 11:48to buy a crappy two hundred dollars revolver. He was trying to buy an
- 11:50eight hundred dollars and I know meiter manager said nothing we could do. It's
- 11:56a store policy. And mister Trimble correctly pointed out out that as it stands
- 12:01now, neither he nor anybody at his address could ever buy another gun from
- 12:05bass Pro. Ever again, and I should point out, his brother in
- 12:09law's not a prohibited person retired military has his own CWFL. So I called
- 12:15a bass Pro and everybody at bass Pro, from corporate comm staff to the
- 12:22manager of the store in Tampa, nobody would talk. Finally got this guy
- 12:26named Joe in guns and he said, quote, we do keep a datalogue
- 12:33on this, however, this is nothing that he can talk about it at
- 12:37the store level. Now, you got to keep in mind, Preston,
- 12:41a gun dealer can refuse a sail for they don't even need a reason,
- 12:46right, And I've seen good gun dealers do this, good local gun dealers,
- 12:50you know, the guys acting hinky. Guys acting hinky, they don't
- 12:54have to make a sale. But these big box stores, I mean,
- 13:00this is wrong, this is wrong, and bass Pro really needs to rethink
- 13:05what they're doing, I mean, or they're going to go down the same
- 13:09road that Dix went down. Okay, so we're going to become just another
- 13:15anti gun whatever. So you covered this a week ago, you release this
- 13:20story a week ago. Surely by now it's made its way to the upper
- 13:26echelons of Bass Pro Shop and no one's reached out to you. Nope,
- 13:33not at all. It's the bunker mode. Man, Oh my god,
- 13:35there's bad news. Let's go into the bunker door. Yeah, it's stupid.
- 13:43So what are you working on now that We won't go into details,
- 13:48but you can tease for us. Let's just say this. We are not
- 13:52letting go of what the ATF is doing to gun dealers. I mean,
- 13:56these are friends of mine, these are friends of yours. These are small
- 14:01businessmen and small businesswomen who aren't getting rich, they're just getting by, and
- 14:07the federal government is going after them because Joe wants gun dealers put out of
- 14:13business. So we've got a couple more things coming on ATF and how stupid
- 14:18and how illegal and how unconstitutional their actions are becoming. And it's there's no
- 14:26standard here, Preston. That's the that's the big thing. What they'll do
- 14:30to force one gun dealer out of business is different compared to what they'll do
- 14:33to force another out. The bottom line is there, it's an overreach,
- 14:37it's unconstitutional, and it will not stand and it won't hold up to public
- 14:43scrutiny either. That's the big thing in closing. Circling back to where we
- 14:46started in Oklahoma. What's the What was the charge on this guy? What
- 14:50was he being accused of doing? There wasn't any charge on this guy.
- 14:56That's the big thing. They just say that too many of his guns had
- 15:00showing up in traces and they're worried that he's selling guns at gun shows.
- 15:05There's no definite you did this wrong. He has yet to be charged with
- 15:09a crime, probably never will be because they got what they want. They
- 15:13actually told him, if you just forfeit your license and forfeit your guns,
- 15:18all this can go away. Wow. Yeah, And these are guys who
- 15:22don't have one hundred grand in the bank to fight the HF in court.
- 15:26Yep, yep. All right. Well, I know we're going to stay
- 15:30in touch and we'll talk again next month and maybe we'll have some developments and
- 15:33maybe we'll have the beginnings of a class action lawsuit. Lee. Thanks for
- 15:37the work you're doing. Brother. I appreciate it, my pleasure. Thanks
- 15:41for helping get the word out. Thank you, sir Lee Williams. It's
