- 0:00SPEAKER_00: This is Tony Boucheros and this is the Reborn Podcast where we talk about self-improvement, mindset, and motivation.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: I hope you guys are having a great morning.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Today I wanted to talk about time.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: You see, time is the one resource we can never replenish.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: It's a true currency of our life.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Most people think money is the currency.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: But money you can earn and pay and earn and pay and earn and pay and get it back.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: But time you will never get back.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: You will never get time back.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Making this video, making this episode, I will never get this 10-15 minutes back.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: See, today I want to touch on the benefits of providing free value.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: The value of time for rich people versus broke individuals.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: And the ego's role in this context, because believe it or not, the ego's role actually plays a massive part.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: You see, first I want to touch on the concept of providing free value, both in business but also personal relationships.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: I want to highlight how offering free value can not only build trust and credibility, but also it can build long-term relationships.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: And these long-term relationships are worth a lot more than a hundred bucks, thousand bucks, ten thousand bucks you could have charged for what you did for free.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: See, imagine you do something for free, they come back to you 10 more times, or they send you 10 other paying clients.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: When we are of service of others, we are fully fulfilling our purpose.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: We are in touch with who we truly are rather than being misguided by other people.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Mahatma Gandhi said the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Now you can interpret that in a couple different ways, but the way I interpret that is when you are truly servicing others, when you're truly doing something to benefit and impact others, you're gonna be pulled in by certain things that will help you find yourself and find your purpose.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Another little fact for you is did you know businesses that provide free value through content marketing often see higher customer retention and increased brand loyalty?
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: So if you're trying to build a business and you're like, I don't have time to do anything for free.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Anything, like my time is worth money.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Plain and simple, my time is worth money.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: You're forgetting that you will make more money in the long run.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: So you you really just need to re- you need to reframe it.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: You need to think about it from the long run, not just from the short run.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Not just from the here and now, not just from today.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: How much money did I make today?
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Instead, think how much money did I make the next year, the next three years, the next five years, the next ten years.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: How much money am I gonna make from this one thing?
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Now, sure, can you charge for something that you could give away for free?
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Of course, you can, and people will pay.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: But I think for most people, they want to increase their customer attention.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: And if you're trying to build something truly big, you want to also increase your brand loyalty.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: See, the immediate person who comes to mind from me is Alex Hermozzi, the king of free value.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Courses, books, guides.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: So much free value.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: And yet at the back end of it, he's making tons of money.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: Because of his brand loyalty.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Because he only caters to a specific avatar.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: And for everyone else who's not that avatar, he gives you so much free value to become that avatar.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: And once you get to that level, he helps you even more, but he also monetizes all of you.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Now I hope you're beginning to see the benefits of providing free value.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: The next topic I want to touch on is the value of time for the rich versus the poor.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: And see, some of you guys, depending on where you're at in your career, you might get mad at me.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Because the truth is, rich people, they'll pay anything, anything to save time, to get some time back.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: They will pay you thousands, maybe even millions of dollars.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, you think about Uber, you think about Instacart, you think about Doordash.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: What do they do?
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Yes, they deliver, they deliver groceries, they deliver food, they deliver different things to you.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: And that's awesome.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: But the service is not delivering groceries.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Rather, I would argue their service, their primary service is delivering you your time back.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Imagine what you're doing with that hour that you could have been, that you would have been at the store shopping.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Instead, you you might be hanging out with your family, you might be getting a workout in, you might be doing other more valuable things because you're able to save this time from Instacart and Doordash and Uber.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Rich people are willing and eager to invest in services and tools that save them time because they understand it's immense value.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: On the other hand, sometimes broke individuals they can undervalue their time and do things that just aren't moving the needle.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: They need to shift their mindset to prioritize the main things.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: What can I do right now, today, tomorrow, this week, this month, this year that will move the needle?
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: Will going to get my own groceries be worth it?
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: Or can I do something higher leverage with my time?
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: However, there's a flip side of it.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: Because the truth is, a lot of broke people also, unfortunately, have no skills.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: They have no skills that someone would truly pay for.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: And so because of that, they are not worth much.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: They might be genuinely worth minimum wage.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: And I hate to say it, some people, some broke people overvalue their time and they're like, work for free?
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Lord, I work for free.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Makes no sense to me.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: Well, why would I work for free?
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Tell me.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: And because of that ego, they're always gonna be in that same position because they have no skills, they have this ego, they have no willingness to work for free.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: So how are they expected to move forward to advance in life?
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: Jim Rohn said, time is more valuable than money.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: You can get more money, but you cannot get more time.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: I want you to really process that.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: Time is more valuable than money.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: I feel like when you don't have money, all you can think about is money and the value of money.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: But what if you could save yourself time and make yourself money in the meanwhile?
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: You see, research shows that wealthy individuals are more likely to outsource tasks that can be done by others to free up their time for high value activities.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: What this tells me is that you really have to learn what tasks need me.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: What tasks require my skill set?
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: If you look at your day and you're seeing this task, this task, this task, this task that don't require you, that could be outsourced by using money but saving time, why not do it?
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: If you're not doing it, then most likely you're in the scarcity mindset.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: And the scarcity mindset is gonna keep you in the same position you're in right now forever.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Dropping the ego for personal growth can hinder both personal and financial growth by preventing individuals from seeking help or outsourcing tasks.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: I encourage you to drop the ego and focus on leveraging your time effectively.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: Brian Holliday said, ego is the enemy of successful leadership.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: It blinds strategic and rational thinking.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: So if you are letting your ego do the thinking for you, do the talking for you, you are gonna blind your strategic and your rational thinking.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: So you're gonna be irrational, you're gonna not gonna have any strategy, and I think we can all agree that if you don't have a strategy, if you're not rational, you're not gonna be successful.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Plain and simple.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: In fact, studies suggest that ego can lead to poor decision making and impede personal development.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: So now I hope you see the difference between the mindset of the poor versus the rich when it comes to time.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Providing free value or thinking that you're above free value.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: There's a stark difference in time perception between the rich and the broke in the importance of ego management.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: And ego management is crucial.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: If you let your ego take the wheel, you will not get very far.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: I encourage you to reflect on your own relationship with time and consider how you can make the most of this valuable resource.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Are you doing only the tasks that require you, your skill set, and are urgent?
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Or are you doing tasks such as video editing or other tasks that you may not need to do yourself but are still crucial?
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: What are you doing with your time?
