- 0:00Welcome to Fast Cars, Fast Girls. I'm Abby Meyer. I'm Sarah Proctor.
- 0:04We'll be your host this week.
- 0:06We've got a couple things to talk about. It's been a little over a week since
- 0:09the Battle on the Bricks at IMS, but we're going to talk about some IMSA fun
- 0:13that we had over the weekend.
- 0:15We're going to talk about IndyCar drivers and some things they're doing in their
- 0:19downtime of the offseason.
- 0:21We've had a couple of Indy legends pass away this week, so we're going to talk about them.
- 0:27And of course, we are going to talk about Parkside Cards, one of our new partners,
- 0:31and some fun giveaways that we've had.
- 0:34And of course, looking forward to a big and nasty announcement tomorrow. So...
- 0:38It's going to be a big week, Sarah. Yeah, I know. It's going to be pretty cool.
- 0:42It is. It is. So the IMSA weekend. Oh, so much fun. Rain only got in the way
- 0:47a little bit on Saturday afternoon. Just interfered with some of the qualifying for the main event.
- 0:53But otherwise, we have pretty decent weather. No, it wasn't bad.
- 0:56And I actually got, like, hot on the grid.
- 1:00Honestly, I was going to say, if anything, it was probably too hot for me.
- 1:04I wanted it to be a little cooler since it was September. But yeah, it wasn't too.
- 1:09No, it wasn't like it was 100 or anything. No, I thought it was.
- 1:14Yeah, I have enjoyed the lower temperatures that we've been having since then,
- 1:18though. Been loving that.
- 1:20But yeah, so IMSA was a fun time. Rasmussen won in his class. Yep.
- 1:26And we just had lots of racing the whole time. What was your favorite part of the weekend?
- 1:31I got to hang out with my dad on Sunday, so that was good.
- 1:35He hadn't been to a race since May. So all the same racetrack.
- 1:39Yeah, but still, I'm sure he had a fun time. No, I keep trying to get him to go to some other races.
- 1:45He has gone to like in Ohio and he's gone to St. Louis. But it's been a while.
- 1:50And he even back in the cart days, Michigan and Houston. So excellent.
- 1:57Yeah, he should come to some other ones. We're trying. We're trying.
- 2:00He's actually him and some of our family friends, my parents and some family
- 2:06friends are thinking about St. Pete, so.
- 2:09Ooh. Maybe, maybe. That's a good one to go to. I know. My mom's somewhat like
- 2:13a big racing person, so they would just basically leave her at the beach and...
- 2:20They would go watch the race. I mean, whatever works.
- 2:24Or if somebody rented the tiki boat for a while, I think my mom would be okay
- 2:29just out on the tiki boat while the race was going out, just hanging out.
- 2:32Yeah, 100%. I mean, there is a party barge inside the racetrack that doesn't
- 2:41actually have any TVs that she could hang at the whole day.
- 2:43Yeah, it's just really like she's just gone to a couple 500s.
- 2:50It's just not her thing. We even took her to some F1 stuff when it came in Indy,
- 2:55and it just was not her thing. So it's all right. That's fair. It's all right.
- 2:59But, like, she goes. I mean, Dad took her to Carb Day a few years ago because
- 3:05she had never been and was like, Mom, the people watching will be amazing.
- 3:09I mean, it really is, though. It is some of the best people watching.
- 3:13I convinced some friends to do that.
- 3:15Oh, it's probably been more than 10 years ago, but.
- 3:20It was the year The Journey played. And I had a friend who was a huge Journey
- 3:23fan, and so she'd never been to a carb day, was not an 80-500 fan,
- 3:27was not a race weekend fan, and typically would be out of town for that weekend.
- 3:31Weekend, but I talked during the coming to carb day for Journey.
- 3:34And I was like, listen, we're not going to do like, I know there's a bunch of
- 3:37stuff that other people want to do that you're not going to like because you
- 3:40don't care about any of it. So just come with me.
- 3:43I want to watch practice. And then after that, we'll just post up in the grass,
- 3:48outside of the entrance to the concert area, like on a main drag and just watch
- 3:53everybody stumble their way into the concert for hours.
- 3:57And that's what we did. And it was fantastic. Oh, my gosh. We had camping chairs.
- 4:02We used our coolers as footrests. And we had the time. Sarah,
- 4:06of course, got burned because she always does, no matter how many times she
- 4:09reapplies. Also named Sarah, by the way, but not my co-host, Sarah.
- 4:15But yeah, it was so much fun. It's the best. I love the people watching at Carb
- 4:18Day. I know. It's just good to spend a little family time.
- 4:22That's wonderful. Since we did all of our content shooting on Saturday.
- 4:25Yeah, we did.
- 4:27We did. We got some good shooting done on Saturday.
- 4:29Yep, we did. We did indeed. You had some great ideas. So yeah,
- 4:34so stay posted because we've got fun content that's going to be continuing to
- 4:38come out, even in the off season.
- 4:40You know how we do. Fast and funny, 52 weeks a year.
- 4:43I wouldn't say I'm funny, but that's okay. I would. You're funny.
- 4:46We'll see. So, IMSA, I enjoyed. We had lots of, I say we had like the whole,
- 4:53almost the whole FCFG team together.
- 4:56In-house. The only person who was missing was our blogger, Mike.
- 5:01But all of our photographers were out and about, so I didn't have to lug my
- 5:05camera around, which was nice for me.
- 5:07So I just got to take some selfies with friends and do that kind of fun stuff
- 5:11on Sunday. I made sure my dad was taking pictures on his nice camera.
- 5:15I had my nice camera with me, but I didn't. It was all thumb shots.
- 5:20I hate when I do that, because then I'm like, why don't I lug this around the
- 5:22whole day if I didn't even use it?
- 5:24Because I like my good camera. Like, my I get it,
- 5:28and I just was making sure because he was gonna leave early he wanted to leave
- 5:32early and I was like no we we're sticking it out we're not doing that I was
- 5:36like no yeah we're not doing I was like no no no no no this is like a two hour and
- 5:4040 minute race like no like yeah we're not leaving early no no and I'm glad
- 5:44we didn't because you know car ran out of fuel and you know yeah.
- 5:50So it's okay there was some action near the end yes but no he got to see everything so it was cool and,
- 5:57you know rexie and spike a fun always i mean,
- 6:02their merch shop was packed with people i saw a ton of kids walking around with
- 6:08with their stuff with their dinos yes
- 6:11yes i mean honestly what a great marketing idea honestly just fantastic and
- 6:17speaking of other merchandise shops shout out to toronto motorsports by the way who,
- 6:23gave us some event stickers and keychain which i really dig that keychain it's
- 6:28super fun the koozie's awesome yeah and a koozie
- 6:32so then i went back and thank you derrick and then and roger i went back and
- 6:37bought some uh stickers too so that was fun oh yeah that was fun and of course
- 6:41if you want any fun tunes um stickers etc,
- 6:45you can find those all on toronto motorsports website,
- 6:48um they in the past have sold fast cars past girls stickers as well so they
- 6:53are definitely friends of the podcast so give them give them some business they do good things,
- 7:00Which was, it was sad, like, Bath only has one more race. I was like, no. I know.
- 7:07Yeah, it is sad. But it was so fun to hear, like, all of, like,
- 7:11the fun different engines, the V12 and something, you know.
- 7:17Yeah, I do love that about the IMSA races. You get to really hear the difference
- 7:20in the different cars and the different classes.
- 7:22And one of the things that our friend Doug of Doug's Garage said before I went
- 7:30to my first Rolex 24 was that at some point you'll get used to the cars enough
- 7:35that you'll be able to fall asleep through them,
- 7:38which was untrue for me unless I am in a vehicle and the sound's a little bit muffled.
- 7:45I found that out when I'm in the infield. If I'm not in the infield, then it's easier.
- 7:50But when they go to a caution because the sound changes, it'll wake you up because
- 7:55you're like, wait a second. Your brain's like, wait, something changed. Something happened.
- 7:59And he was absolutely right. And I find that, especially with the IMSA cars,
- 8:03because there's such a difference in the different engines that especially when
- 8:07they go to caution, it's like there's so many different noises changing at the same time. Yeah.
- 8:11Well, and that's why I like going through the eight hour or two,
- 8:15because I can just a blanket, take a book, sit on the viewing mound and just
- 8:20have the noise of race cars and just enjoy the weather.
- 8:25Absolutely. I know that's weird to take a book to a racetrack.
- 8:28But I mean, for an eight hour race, though, I get it.
- 8:31Because, yes, every hour matters, but people aren't going to be doing racy,
- 8:36stupid shit in hour one or two.
- 8:38So, I mean, it's fun. Yes, I have not been to Rolex. I would like to, that would be a fun one.
- 8:44It is fun. I always like seeing people sleeping in the stands.
- 8:47I have not ever slept in the stands.
- 8:50I would probably sleep in the car, honestly. Yeah, that is the only place that
- 8:54I've been able to sleep is when I've made a little nest in the car or just lay my seat back.
- 9:00I can lay it back pretty far and get comfy. And of course, Duchess has gone
- 9:03with me the last couple of times that I went. And I learned that she does not care for escalators.
- 9:08Yes, they they frighten her. And if I make her use them and she has anxiety
- 9:14diarrhea in the middle of concourse.
- 9:16Yeah, that was really exciting the first year. And like it was so like it should
- 9:22have been a scene in a movie. It was so ridiculous.
- 9:25So I'm trying to walk with her and she's stopping because she knows that she's
- 9:29about to poop. And I'm like, oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 9:33And she starts going. And at the same time, there's like a two and a half year
- 9:36old that sees the dog and is like, hey.
- 9:39And the mom is not looking at the kid and the kid just takes off towards me
- 9:43and the dog. And I'm like, oh, my gosh, all I can see is this kid's going to
- 9:46slip and fall face first into this poop.
- 9:48And so I'm like trying to get the mom's attention. And I was like,
- 9:52get your kid. Don't let your kid over here. And then she thinks the dog's mean
- 9:55and that that's why I'm yelling. And I was like, no, there's just poop on the
- 9:57floor. The dog's perfectly nice. Oh.
- 10:01Yeah, it was a cluster. So, lesson learned. We take the elevator now.
- 10:04She does not mind elevators. Oh, that's fine.
- 10:06Well, and the winners were the Grand Touring Prototype, the number 24 BMW M-Team,
- 10:13WRT BMW Hybrid with Sheldon Vanderling and Dries Vanthor.
- 10:21Vanthor. Vanthor. Yeah, hopefully I'm not butchering that too bad. And then an LMP...
- 10:26Two, number 18 ERA Motorsports, Aureka LMP207 was Nick Bouloulou and Rasmussen.
- 10:34Love it. And then GT Pro was the Ford Racing Mustang of Ben Barker and Dennis Olson.
- 10:41GTD was number 96 Tuner Motorsports BMW M4 GT3.
- 10:48EVO was Patrick Gallagher and Robbie Foley.
- 10:52So it was a fun little race. It was. It was indeed.
- 10:56Oh, my. It was, and it was a good weekend. Yep. I do wish it was still a little longer, but...
- 11:01No. But I enjoyed it. And everybody did really well, like, walking, doing the gridwalk.
- 11:07I feel like a couple years ago, it was very, like, claustrophobic.
- 11:10It wasn't as claustrophobic. It was not.
- 11:13So I agree. I was happy about that. Yeah.
- 11:16Well, and I love the access that everybody gets to gridwalk at Emsa Races.
- 11:19And they give out stickers.
- 11:21Like, ugh, it's so awesome. It is awesome. Very, very cool. Any car needs to do more of that.
- 11:27It'd be cool if they did. Yeah. Have stickers out. It'd be super cool. Yeah.
- 11:31I didn't pay extra for pit access in IndyCar. Yeah. Well, and then I talked
- 11:36to a couple of people and they're like, no, I like sports cars better than IndyCar.
- 11:40And I was like, that's fine. Fair.
- 11:42You know, whatever. To each their own. And it was just cool to see them like
- 11:47just getting into racing. So I was very happy about that. Yeah.
- 11:50Agree. It's like, OK, we don't all have to like the same kind of racing,
- 11:53but like we all still like fast cars.
- 11:55And there's a lot of kids, which, you know, that builds a fan base.
- 11:59So it sure does. there's a ton of kids at Imsa Reese's and I love that.
- 12:04I love that they have promoted themselves to be family friendly and that they are family friendly.
- 12:10It was awesome and like I see I'm jealous of those little kids because my parents
- 12:15were not brave enough to take me as kids to places like that.
- 12:20But also my dad did say like IndyCar was not as kid friendly back in the day
- 12:26as it is now. I mean, I can definitely see that. Yeah.
- 12:29I don't think back in the days of like, yeah, the real snake pit and things,
- 12:33it wasn't quite as kid friendly. No, no.
- 12:35But that's been a makeover that has happened. No, but it was so cool.
- 12:40I mean, I was in fifth, sixth grade, my first race. So, yeah.
- 12:45I had to go long enough that I was able to go to the bathroom by myself because
- 12:49my dad was not going to walk me up and down the bleachers all the time.
- 12:52Fair point. I don't I don't know that my mom even thought about that,
- 12:55but I went in sixth grade as well to my first race. But that's funny.
- 13:01He wasn't going to walk up and down back and forth with no.
- 13:04I get it, though. I get it. If I were a parent, I would feel the same way.
- 13:08I'd be like, no, no, you have to be self-sufficient and have a quasi-adult-sized
- 13:12bladder. Yeah, it was fine.
- 13:15It was hot. My first Indy 500, my very first race, was the one that it rained
- 13:21out Sunday and Monday and then ran on Tuesday.
- 13:23It was very interesting weather. It was very Indiana. Indiana.
- 13:28Indiana. Gotta love it. So, speaking of IndyCar, what are some of our drivers
- 13:33doing in the offseason? Well, I saw Kyle Kirkwood was surfing,
- 13:39which was pretty cool. Good for him.
- 13:41Marcus Erickson was at the IMSA race. Nice. Connor Daly went NASCAR truck racing.
- 13:47He sure did. Finished 16th. Good for him. Excellent.
- 13:51Kyle Kirkwood seems to like all the water activities. Yep. Fishes,
- 13:54he surfs. Yeah, and then Alex Plow is at the Colts game this past weekend.
- 14:00Look at him. Really turn into quite the Hoosier. He's getting there,
- 14:04I believe so. It really is.
- 14:06I believe so. I want to see him at an IU game next. Yeah, and then I did see
- 14:11a few of them golfing too. Oh, yes, I have seen that as well.
- 14:15People, you know, golfing.
- 14:17Yes. Oh, which speaking of Indiana football, of course, Indiana football won
- 14:23on Friday night, although they had to fight for it far too hard.
- 14:27But I do want to say a huge congratulations to Notre Dame, who spanked the shit
- 14:31out of Purdue. Yes, Notre Dame. I was there.
- 14:34It was amazing. Oh, God. I'll tell you what.
- 14:37I am one of the few people who actually went to both Purdue and Indiana.
- 14:41And so I can tell you I have tried both and Purdue does suck more. It is worse.
- 14:47I like Ross-Ade Stadium. It's very... It is a nice stadium. It's very cozy.
- 14:55I have not been to IU, so I can't put it there.
- 14:59Notre Dame Stadium is also very much iconic.
- 15:03Oh, it's iconic. Touchdown Jesus.
- 15:06I love Touchdown Jesus. I've seen the big house, not for a game,
- 15:10but walked into that. That's way too big.
- 15:13Yeah. I mean, it's like math. I mean, that's why they call it.
- 15:16Right? It's massive. It's massive.
- 15:19So. Yeah. But yeah, so...
- 15:22Good weekend for most of the Indiana school football teams. Yeah,
- 15:25and I think, I hope Purdue eventually turns it around.
- 15:29They just got to get it together. Maybe Drew Brees can coach,
- 15:33maybe down the line. I don't know.
- 15:34Yeah, wouldn't be a bad idea. Nope. Wouldn't be a bad idea.
- 15:38Well, we have two different former drivers that we're going to talk about. We did.
- 15:44And they both passed away, actually. and one of them just broke right before,
- 15:51we're recording. But earlier last week, Jigar Shawari passed away.
- 15:59His real name was Lenny Duray Shawari. Drew his first spot in the qualifying
- 16:05line in the 1969 Indianapolis 500.
- 16:08The crew waved off as he was coming off of turn four on the final lap of his first attempt.
- 16:14The rain fell during the next qualifying attempt.
- 16:18Had the crew not waived the attempt off, Sarari would have qualified on the
- 16:22pole position for the race because the rest of the pole day was a washout.
- 16:27Wow. Yeah. Second attempt was too slow. Third attempt had a mechanical issue.
- 16:31Back then, each car had only three attempts for the whole month.
- 16:35Sarari never made the 500 despite years of trying.
- 16:38Had Sarari made the race, His unofficial speed would have been the 28th fastest
- 16:44of the 33-car field that year, which would have set a record for being the slowest
- 16:49rink pole speed in Indy 500.
- 16:52The American Auto Racing Riders and Broadcast Association gave out the Jigger
- 16:57Award for the most hard luck driver and team during the Indy 500 qualifying.
- 17:03Well, that's pretty cool. Yeah. Quite the folklore for somebody who actually
- 17:07never made the race. I know, but this is the stuff that makes Indy, Indy.
- 17:12Exactly, because somebody can try that hard, and we still talk about them because
- 17:17we know how hard it is. Right, yes.
- 17:20You know, good stuff. And then right before we started recording tonight.
- 17:26Jordan Johncoff passed away.
- 17:28He did. And so Jiggy was 91 and Gordon Johncoff was 90. Yeah.
- 17:36Jordan Johncoff was born in Hastings, Michigan. He was a rookie of the year
- 17:40in 1965 and drove for Gordon Weinberger.
- 17:44He completed the 1966 Indy 500 in a faster elapsed time than the winner Graham
- 17:49Hill, but because he started so far behind after the opening lap accident was
- 17:55only classified in fourth place, he won the.
- 17:58500 in 1973 and 82 driving for Patrick's team.
- 18:03The 1973 race was marred by the tragedy during the month.
- 18:07Looking up online, not going to go into that.
- 18:10The race only went to 332.5 miles.
- 18:15The 1982 Indianapolis 500 had a winning margin of 0.16 seconds,
- 18:221,600 of a second over Rick Mears, which is the closest finish at the time.
- 18:28The former closest finish was in 1937 with Wilbershaw by just over two seconds.
- 18:35He won the first race in kart history, the 1979 race at Phoenix.
- 18:40He also won the Michigan 500 in 1982 after winning the 500 that same year.
- 18:46He didn't complete the Triple Crown that year as he finished sixth at Pocono that season.
- 18:52The final win was 1983 at Atlanta, also the final win for the Wildcat Chassis,
- 18:57the in-house developed by Patrick Racing.
- 19:01He temporarily retired ahead of the 1985 500 and was actually a driver expert
- 19:08on that year's IMS Radio Network broadcast of the 500 alongside of Roger Ward.
- 19:13He came back for the 1987 Indianapolis 500.
- 19:18After winning the 1982 Indianapolis 500, John Kock only finished the race in
- 19:23time, which was sixth in 1991 for Helmogarn Racing.
- 19:30John Kock was sick leading up to the race, but kept the car running to finish.
- 19:35His final Indy 500 was in 1992 and retired with engine failure.
- 19:40He ran 24 Indy 500s. Wow. Yes.
- 19:46Thanks to my in-house historian. Yes.
- 19:50My husband for those facts about John Cock and Sherroy.
- 19:55So, yeah, it's crazy. Like all these legends that I've heard about are like,
- 20:01passing and I'm, I don't know, I'm just not okay. Like, I know.
- 20:05I'm with you. It's weird. It's weird. Because. I'm with you. I'm with you.
- 20:11Well, speaking of legends and drivers and things, moving on to Parkside Cards,
- 20:17which have cool photos of drivers and teams and podiums.
- 20:22And what are all the other fancy words that the cards are? There's a hit in each pack.
- 20:27Yeah, there's a bunch of different hits. You can get autographs,
- 20:31you can get parallels, different, you know, things.
- 20:35It's really fun. And, you know, I knew about them before we partnered with them,
- 20:42opened a few boxes myself, and they're very fun.
- 20:45And actually they were very fun i did not i knew about them but i didn't participate
- 20:50before we partnered with them but opening packets with you is super fun like
- 20:55it's exciting to see who you're going to get
- 20:57and you want to open it really fast but you also want to be careful because
- 21:00you don't want to mess up the cards yes oh yes um
- 21:03that's like my husband's very much has taught me do not touch the corners i have fat fingers yeah,
- 21:11It gives them the heebie-jeebies sometimes when I open, but it's not bad.
- 21:15I know. He's so nuts about it. Yeah. It's okay. I mean, I get it.
- 21:20Yeah. No, but they're super fun. But we went to the card shop.
- 21:24He bought a hobby box, and he opened that up, and he got a bunch of cool hits,
- 21:32and then I bought two little packs. And I got, like, a fun little Pato thing, Pato card.
- 21:38So, I mean, they're fun. And then the little kid next to me,
- 21:41I gave him like all the cards that I know we had and I gave them to him and
- 21:46he didn't know who they were. So I kind of like told him who they were. Oh, very cool.
- 21:51We have a ton of them lying around the house. So we also gave them the card
- 21:55shop because they're doing a big thing at the Speedway Saturday for the kids.
- 21:59So if your kids are part of the Indie Card Exchange Kids Card Program,
- 22:04they're doing a you had to sign
- 22:06up for it. So make sure you check on their Instagram and sign up for it.
- 22:12They're having a big thing at the Speedway this weekend.
- 22:15Heck yeah. I was like, here, the kids can grab those extra cards that we don't need.
- 22:19Absolutely. Oh, yeah. But, I mean, they're fun. They love to share.
- 22:23They're really fun. And I actually saw somebody online pulled a relic card from Parkside.
- 22:31And it was a piece of the brick. And I was like, it was like a one of one.
- 22:35And I was like oh that's awesome yeah and that's the cool thing about Parkside
- 22:40cards you can also like pull insane autographs.
- 22:45They have a paint and you can get one of the like hand painted ones if you hit
- 22:50those and those are really neat they're very and
- 22:53I have not pulled those before and we have not pulled one of those yet but oh
- 22:59I would love that it'd be really really cool it would be Honestly,
- 23:02they're more fun and they're cooler than I thought they were going to be.
- 23:05I will 100% say that. Well, and Justin. And I also want to say the people at
- 23:10Parkside are absolutely awesome.
- 23:13Yeah. Yeah. Like they've been awesome.
- 23:16Awesome to work with. Yes. And Justin Vinning is the painter that paints those
- 23:22Indie card cards that you can chase in those. And I saw him painting in Milwaukee and it's so cool.
- 23:28It is cool. Yes. So, I mean, check them out, guys. You can give them at a card
- 23:33shop. Some of the stores sell them to.
- 23:36The gift shop at the museum has them. Very cool. I mean, they're just fun.
- 23:43Also, the holidays are coming up. Great stocking stuffers.
- 23:48They sure are. Great stocking stuffers and things. My youngest niece and nephew
- 23:52are like at the age where they'd be into it somewhat, but not the age where
- 23:57they would not ruin the cards yet.
- 23:59So they're not quite ready. No. Because it would kill me because they would
- 24:03open and they would get like a piece of the brick and then like leave it on the floor.
- 24:06No, but I mean, they're very, it's very...
- 24:09Very fun. So definitely. It is very fun.
- 24:14I mean, it's something fun. And I knew somebody, they used to own a card shop
- 24:20back in the day and they would give me like little Disney cards.
- 24:23And so I collected a little bit of them, but I didn't like do the big like baseball,
- 24:28hockey, basketball cards. But they are really fun.
- 24:31And they actually have a Parkside has a Disney box.
- 24:35And they're super expensive if you buy the hobby box because you can get autographs
- 24:41from tom hanks oh shit yeah like that's awesome but they're really cool like in cards that is so cool.
- 24:49It's really cool i've been to a few trading card games like don't worry guys
- 24:52fast cards fast girls is not turning totally into trading cards so don't freak
- 24:57out but i mean we're not there it's just fun but But we have turned into,
- 25:03like a trading card fan page.
- 25:06Yeah. For a little bit. Just a little bit. For a little bit.
- 25:09But they're fun. Just a little bit. They're fun, though. Like. They're super fun.
- 25:13No, they really are. So if you haven't gotten into it and you want to,
- 25:1610 out of 10 recommend. Check out Parkside Cards. They're on social media.
- 25:20Check out our videos with their stuff. It's fun. Yeah. Like,
- 25:24they truly are, and it truly is fun. It's truly like, you know,
- 25:28they say in Forrest Gump, life's a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get.
- 25:31Every card box. It's true. You never know what you're going to get.
- 25:34That is true. Very true. Very true. It is. That's some of the excitement.
- 25:38See, I wish they would. This is just me.
- 25:41I wish they would do it a little bit with the IndyCard. Like,
- 25:45get some of the older legends that are still around.
- 25:48Yes. Get them to sign some stuff. it'd be really really cool and just like shove
- 25:52it in there and not know and they could be one of ones or like one of five or
- 25:56something totally it'd be really cool but yeah there's like a ton of legends
- 26:01who would absolutely still do that yes
- 26:02like rick mears he'll sign an autograph any day of the week johnny rutherford
- 26:06has the nicest signature of anybody a and b will sign a sign will sign anything
- 26:12for anybody any day of the week he's so nice well and i would also like getting
- 26:16a roger penske signed card
- 26:19one of one oh that'd be insane that would be insane it'd be really,
- 26:22a doug bowles card would be fun a parallel of doug bowles would be awesome to
- 26:27collect too yes yes yes and then like a firehawk,
- 26:32i don't know how we could do it but we need firehawk in there absolutely yeah
- 26:36but yeah on in parkside would have to work that out but yes yeah we need a firehawk
- 26:41card for sure it'd be sick it would be very sick it would be it'd be fun
- 26:46and like i know like in the f1 ones they have like pieces of fire suits
- 26:52or they have like pieces of actual like cars i think they should start doing
- 26:56that too it'd be cool or like maybe,
- 26:59ribbon from like the victory or something,
- 27:03okay i'm loving all of these ideas yeah so i you know it'd be cool very cool.
- 27:10It'd be when you see people,
- 27:14At certain places, they're actually, like, signing the cards.
- 27:17So, that'd be cool. They're just fun. It's something to do.
- 27:22At a race, we'll go buy, like, my husband and I will just buy a box and just
- 27:25open it just to kind of see what we get.
- 27:28Yeah. Yeah, it's kind of our little thing that we do. Aww, that's cute.
- 27:32So, you know, they're just fun.
- 27:35They are just fun. They're just fun. And congratulations. we did do a giveaway,
- 27:40and somebody found one of our um,
- 27:44little gift bags so congratulations whoever you were it's okay there was i gave
- 27:48away there's like three of them so not everybody posted so,
- 27:52just make sure next time guys that's okay yeah it's okay um we understand some
- 27:57people are a little more shy and don't really want to like post big stuff like
- 28:00that and that's okay yeah no worries at all we just hope that you enjoy it yes and so
- 28:05keep an eye out we might do something later this coming month as a giveaway.
- 28:11Absolutely. For our North American friends. Sorry for our overseas friends.
- 28:17It's a little too expensive.
- 28:18For us to ship. To ship. We've looked it up. We apologize for that.
- 28:22We do. So our online giveaways are just for North America.
- 28:26So show our sugar in. Yeah. Yeah. I know.
- 28:30I even was like, maybe we'll just... No, it's a lot. Because I would totally like, you know.
- 28:36But don't worry, they will be fun, I promise. That is true. There's lots of fun to be had.
- 28:42So, speaking of fun to be had, tomorrow, of course, after we record,
- 28:48Ganassi is going to make the announcement of who's going to be in the ninth.
- 28:51Well, I think so, because they were teasing it with a putt.
- 28:56It was posted today, and it was putting with an orange ball.
- 29:00Which, like, is that an Easter egg? Is that not?
- 29:04You know because a lot of people think that it's going to be lungard of course
- 29:07nothing's set in stone nobody's confirmed or denied that,
- 29:10but you know is the orange ball alluding to him coming from papaya or does it
- 29:14have to does it have to do with the nine car having orange on it i don't know who knows we'll see
- 29:19i mean we're getting everybody situated so this is when i look like that scene
- 29:24like charlie and it's always sunny in philadelphia,
- 29:27with the conspiracy theories i think most of those were proven wrong so we'll see,
- 29:32i feel like that though in my head i'm like but if this person goes here and this person goes here,
- 29:38so hopefully we learn tomorrow because we all know i hate waiting for a surprise
- 29:42yeah i know i know but whatever whatever happens you know it's gonna happen
- 29:47and i'm gonna be busy so i'm gonna like miss it by like a couple minutes.
- 29:53Well, it's better than me. It'll happen while I'm asleep and I'll miss it for
- 29:57like five. I don't know. We'll see.
- 30:00If they announce it at like eight or nine in the morning, that's prime time for me to be asleep.
- 30:04So whenever you see it is perfect timing as far as I'm concerned.
- 30:08Hopefully. Hopefully. So I don't know.
- 30:12So, yeah, but watch out on our socials as well as, of course,
- 30:14Ganassi socials because we'll repost everything.
- 30:17And of course, you can follow us everywhere by just searching Fast Cars, Fast Girls.
- 30:22And you can listen to us anywhere that you like to listen to podcasts.
- 30:25Oh, but we're not done. That's right. We're not done.
- 30:28Because we got a grade. We have report cards. We do have report cards.
- 30:34Now, Abby does not know how I graded these guys.
- 30:37So Abby is going in blind on this.
- 30:40I'm going in blind. These are going to be real-time reactions. All right.
- 30:44Andretti Global. A-. Yes. Kyle won three races. Marcus won one.
- 30:48Will had some podiums in a row. So that's why they're not A+.
- 30:53Sure. You know, pretty good. Okay. CGR, A+.
- 30:57I mean, below. Yeah. Kif, silently going into the top 10, a bunch. Yeah.
- 31:03And Lungard, rumored to go into that nine spot. So. Yeah.
- 31:09McLaren. I probably would have docked them a little more. Oh, okay.
- 31:13For the nine. I probably would have also given them like an A-,
- 31:15just because the nine car didn't do anything this season. Okay. Fair. Fair.
- 31:19But they did get the... But they did win the championship, so...
- 31:23And then Lungard, driving up Lungard, we're a merge, so...
- 31:26Yeah, that's an A plus move. Okay, McLaren, A on track, B off track. Okay, why?
- 31:33Well, I'm still not getting rid of Lungard. Yeah.
- 31:40That's why. Well, and honestly, I wouldn't even give them an A.
- 31:44Like, Pato won the Milwaukee races, and then what other race did he win?
- 31:49Well, Lungard got some wins in there too, so. Oh, that's true.
- 31:54But like Seagull didn't do shit, so I might just give them a B poll. Like I said, A on track.
- 32:00B off track. Yeah. Myers-Shank, a B+.
- 32:04Yes. That's solid. They won the 500, but then what did they do?
- 32:08Armstrong had chances to win and then disaster, which wasn't always their fault.
- 32:17But still. Yunkos, a B. Yeah. They had some podiums and some top fives. They did. They did.
- 32:24Arenas did good things for them this year. I hope they keep him. Dale Coyne, a C+.
- 32:29They did win Rookie of the Year.
- 32:32They had two races where two of their drivers didn't start.
- 32:36Grosjean in Phoenix and Hauger in St. Louis. Yeah.
- 32:42Yeah, that hits you hard when you're a small team like that.
- 32:45Ray Hong, I'm going to give a B-.
- 32:48Okay. Rams podiums, Louis pool.
- 32:51Yep. They decided, hey, three cars is not us. Let's sell that away. Yep. So, B-.
- 32:59I think that's a fair grade. You know, this one might be a little controversial. Ooh, yes.
- 33:04B-plus. I mean, they earned it. So, Joseph won.
- 33:09McLaughlin won one. Mm-hmm. Malukas, how many times did he finish second?
- 33:15Ask him. I think he'd love to talk about it. Yeah. So, B-plus.
- 33:19Yeah. No, we didn't see much of Penske Perfect this year. And that's why they did not get an A-plus.
- 33:25Maybe I probably should have done like a B-minus, but they still had wins. So that's why I was...
- 33:31Yeah, they did still have some wins. I agree.
- 33:34Foyt, C-minus. That's fair. Ferrucci regressed horribly this year.
- 33:39Yeah, it was not his best year, that's for sure. And I feel like Kaio had moments
- 33:44of brilliance, but then crashed. Flashes.
- 33:47Flashes of brilliance, yeah. Yeah. But couldn't put together a whole race.
- 33:51Yeah, so C-minus there. Yeah. Yeah.
- 33:54And then ECR, B-. I probably would have given them a C or C-.
- 33:59But they turned it around at the end of the season.
- 34:01They did, but they had so many dismal results. But they picked their driver
- 34:05to test the IR-28. So, I don't know. B-.
- 34:10I couldn't do a C. That's fair. A B-. So, do you think I graded them fairly?
- 34:18Would you change any of them?
- 34:21Just a couple I mentioned. I'd probably just adjust like by a plus or a minus
- 34:26or like, you know, A minus to a B plus, B plus to an A minus,
- 34:29you know, like, but I wouldn't change any like egregiously.
- 34:32None of them would be a big change. I think that's I think that's pretty fair assessment. Yeah.
- 34:36And then like IndyCar as a whole, I would say this season was a decent A minus. Yes. Yes.
- 34:46Definitely a good season, especially we're growing with fans.
- 34:51We're growing with viewership, streaming, etc.
- 34:55We're moving in the right direction, but we still have room to grow.
- 34:57Yes. And then Fox, of course. Yeah.
- 35:01A. They're doing a bang-up job. A, for sure.
- 35:04Firestone, still doing A, as always. Yep. Fonda Chevy. Solidays. Solidays, so.
- 35:12For the most part, I don't know. Why do we keep having to replace so many damn engines?
- 35:15I'm just saying, at some point, if I were a team owner who keeps having drivers
- 35:19get penalized for replacing engines when I'm not the one making the engine,
- 35:23I'm going to start talking to the people who make the fucking engines and just
- 35:26be like, why do these keep breaking when I'm supposed to only need X amount of them per season?
- 35:32Just a thought. So just my thoughts, what I thought.
- 35:35Like I said, like I said, like I'm not...
- 35:39I'm just a fan turned podcaster, so I don't drive these cars.
- 35:43I just see it how I see it. Right.
- 35:45You know, you can agree or disagree. That's true. And if you would grade them
- 35:48different, we want to hear about it. Yeah.
- 35:50Hit us up on social media. Yeah, totally. I'm fine with it. Yeah.
- 35:54We'd love to hear how you guys would grade them. Ooh, maybe that should be instead
- 35:58of trivia. Well, I got to do trivia. We cannot not do trivia.
- 36:03Okay, well, maybe we'll just do a poll. We'll do poll maybe Wednesday.
- 36:06I'll do a poll on Wednesday.
- 36:07I'll do a poll on Wednesday. Yeah, we can do it for each team.
- 36:09Like, yeah, draw it out a couple days.
- 36:11Yeah. We don't have to do them all at once. No, we can see how,
- 36:15or we can just do an open-ended question. They don't really, they don't always.
- 36:19So, but, well, if I give them the options, A, B, C, and D, they can, they'll do it.
- 36:26I know. You guys don't like open-ended questions.
- 36:30It makes me sad at times. It's okay. It's, you know, when you're scrolling,
- 36:33you just want to do it easy. It's okay.
- 36:35Right. It's fine. It's fine. You got to think easy and quick. Yes.
- 36:38And i do want to apologize guys some of the the trivia lately has been a little
- 36:44late being posted just because i've been super busy during the day so no worries
- 36:49dude i still post it it's just.
- 36:52It wasn't at the i think people understand that like we do the podcast in our
- 36:56free time like nobody pays us for this we have other jobs like,
- 37:01I think people understand that. I do try to be pretty consistent, so. We do.
- 37:06We try. We try. So I do apologize if you're like, oh, it's this time and then
- 37:10nothing was there. So I'm apologizing now because, you know.
- 37:13And thanking you for your patience.
- 37:15Yes. I started doing that rather than apologizing for things being led.
- 37:19I just be like, thank you for your patience. Yes. Thank you for your patience.
- 37:22So. All right. Well, I think that wraps it up for this week.
- 37:25It does. Hey, cool, guys. Enjoy.
- 37:29Enjoy the fall weather. All the fall things have started again,
- 37:32so I had my first pumpkin spice chai latte today.
- 37:37Oh, jealous. And it was fucking delicious. I do have pumpkin spice in my coffee now.
- 37:43I've lit a pumpkin candle in the house a couple of times already.
- 37:48I got all my pumpkin decor together in the basement, and when we got off this
- 37:53call, it's coming upstairs to be put out. So it is it's time for fall,
- 37:57which, as everybody knows, is basic bitch white girl season.
- 38:02And I will be fully participating as I usually do.
- 38:06I yeah, I'm I get sad because I having the lights. I'm driving home.
- 38:12Yes. In the dark and coming home in the dark that I don't. I don't I don't like
- 38:17that. But I do love the weather.
- 38:19Yes. I like the boss season. Give me a nice day at a football game.
- 38:24Um yes no and i like and crisp breeze and a blue sky going to a pumpkin patch which,
- 38:31i need to take my husband to i don't think he's ever done the pumpkin patch
- 38:35oh you should i i need to i need to yeah you do yeah we'll we'll have to do
- 38:40that it'll be fine it'll be fine.
- 38:44No that's i mean the bow that and you know,
- 38:49Just trying to take care of myself. Like right now I have hair oil in my hair,
- 38:53you know. Good for you. You know. Self-care. Self-care.
- 38:56Sometime I need to do a face mask here and there. Very nice. You know.
- 39:01One of my favorite self-care, like skin care products I accidentally left in
- 39:05my car when it was a thousand degrees. And so now I need to buy another one
- 39:09because it melted and eked out.
- 39:11Yeah. It was like a soothing stick that I could put on your like your T-zone.
- 39:16No, no. See, I really, I really need to get an eyebrow, like an eyebrow tint,
- 39:22and lamination. And I know I could do those at home, but I do not want to end
- 39:27up like a cartoon. I mean, that's the truth.
- 39:31I, yes, if I knew I could do it myself, I would do it to save me some money.
- 39:36I get it. But I've also been seeing a lot of girls with fun,
- 39:39like pumpkin spice nails.
- 39:41Oh, I love the fall nails. So I'm like, I really want that.
- 39:45I really, really want that. We went to the fashion mall because I had,
- 39:48I finally replaced my air pod that I lost during the mini.
- 39:52Oh, nice. And I went in to Kendra Scott and they had one of their Halloween
- 39:58necklaces on clearance and I got it.
- 40:02But they have like super cute like ghost stuff their new halloween collection is super cute oh,
- 40:10yes and also guys if you haven't if you're a race girly and you haven't got
- 40:15the kindred scott checkered flag necklace get on that
- 40:19get on it i need to get one i don't have one yet oh they're so they're so cool
- 40:23so pretty they need earrings to go with it though
- 40:26they do They absolutely need earrings and, frankly, a bracelet.
- 40:30Yes. I'd buy the whole set.
- 40:32Yes. Well, and I want them to do, like, a helmet. Ooh.
- 40:35Or, like, a... Yes. That would be very cool. Yeah.
- 40:40Being girly, you know. Sorry, guys, if you're listening.
- 40:45The guys have all checked out by now. Yeah, they're like, you know,
- 40:47eyebrow lamination. They're like, nope. See ya. And I'm out.
- 40:52See ya. All right, ladies. Now for what we're really here to talk about.
- 40:56Now that the guys are gone.
- 40:58Yeah. Yeah. I don't think that I would mess with tinting my own eyebrows either.
- 41:02Like, I'm going to color my own hair tonight, but, like, the hair on your head
- 41:05is very different than the hair on your face. Oh, no.
- 41:07I keep it to the professionals. Yeah. On everything, because I would be the
- 41:11one to, like, turn my hair orange or something. Well, I've got some professionals
- 41:16in my family that I consult with.
- 41:18Yes. That's the only reason that I feel like I'm okay to do it. Yeah.
- 41:22So, I just, yeah. Yeah. I play it safe.
- 41:27You can't go wrong with that. No, no. I just, yeah, I don't.
- 41:31I spend too much money on my hair to screw it up.
- 41:34I hear that. I hear that.
- 41:37Yeah, yeah, I get it. No, but yes.
- 41:42All the Olaplex I buy. Oh, God, I love Olaplex. It's the best.
- 41:46Save my hair. It's the best.
- 41:48Save my hair. But yes, but yeah, but no. I wish. No.
- 41:53All right, well, that'll do it for Sarah. I'm Abby Meyer, and we'll see you at the racetrack.
