- 0:00Speaker 1: And now the guardian Angel of talk radio is here.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Curtis Leewah guest host the Mark Simone Show on seven
- 0:09Speaker 1: ten WOO.
- 0:14Speaker 2: And this I final weeks up stooding for Mark Simon.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Nobody better in the business. What a smooth operator. Think
- 0:23Speaker 2: of that song by Shada nineteen eighty four, Think of
- 0:27Speaker 2: that in nineteen eighty four. It's going to come back
- 0:29Speaker 2: when I talk about the two books being written by
- 0:33Speaker 2: Bernard about Bernard Gets that are being published at the
- 0:36Speaker 2: same time the beginning of this year, forty one years
- 0:41Speaker 2: since the Subway Gunman. So we're going to connect all
- 0:44Speaker 2: the dots. But thanks to Mark Simon for giving me
- 0:48Speaker 2: this opportunity, Tom Cuddy, the program director, who I've known
- 0:52Speaker 2: for years from his stage over at WPLJ, and of
- 0:56Speaker 2: course the iHeart group of station's largest in the nation
- 1:03Speaker 2: doesn't get any better than this. This is like a
- 1:05Speaker 2: second birthday present for me, because I got the Christmas
- 1:10Speaker 2: present which was substituting the first week. This will be
- 1:13Speaker 2: my Birthday present March twenty six aries fire. You know,
- 1:19Speaker 2: I don't go over under, I go right through. And
- 1:23Speaker 2: who would have ever thought that I would have made
- 1:25Speaker 2: it to seventy two years old. So I got my
- 1:28Speaker 2: Christmas present substituting for Marquere and I'm getting my pre
- 1:33Speaker 2: birthday present. And then yesterday, because it's always busy in
- 1:37Speaker 2: my life, huge article came out. It had been done
- 1:40Speaker 2: weeks ago when it came out now and all of
- 1:44Speaker 2: a sudden, my phone was like blowing up from Hollywood.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Oh yeah, everybody out there on the West coast, Hollywood
- 1:54Speaker 2: that I've known over the years, I've met over the years,
- 1:56Speaker 2: was calling me about this article the Hollywood Reporter. That's
- 2:01Speaker 2: the bible for their business out there. So whether it's movies, TV,
- 2:07Speaker 2: whether it's streaming music, whatever it is, that's their bible.
- 2:12Speaker 2: And the article was Curtis Leewoo just wants you to know,
- 2:17Speaker 2: wants to know where are you from? Because that's what
- 2:19Speaker 2: I always asked, right is he? I asked you where
- 2:20Speaker 2: you're from from the Bronx. He said, No, Jersey, what
- 2:23Speaker 2: high school to go to? I always have these series
- 2:25Speaker 2: of questions because it tells me a lot about who
- 2:29Speaker 2: you are, where you're from, what your roots are. And
- 2:33Speaker 2: so is a huge article. And I got this one
- 2:36Speaker 2: call from a guy. Now all of a sudden, he's
- 2:39Speaker 2: interested in Courtius slave walk. Can I do this? Can
- 2:43Speaker 2: I do that? Okay? You know they're all they're all
- 2:45Speaker 2: schmoozing you. Uh, they're pulling your chain and chewing your shorts.
- 2:49Speaker 2: And he's like, hey, you remember me. Remember I grew
- 2:53Speaker 2: up in benson Hurst. Yeah, I remember you. Oh man,
- 2:58Speaker 2: I got I got ideas of we can do. I said, really, really, okay, Uh,
- 3:03Speaker 2: could you share a few with me? And he goes
- 3:05Speaker 2: on and on things he'd never be able to do
- 3:07Speaker 2: in a month of Sundays. But he's schnoring me. He
- 3:10Speaker 2: shnoring me, okay. And I know this guy because in
- 3:14Speaker 2: the midst of this mayoral election he became a Cuomo sexual.
- 3:19Speaker 2: He donated a lot of money from Hollywood to Cuomo
- 3:25Speaker 2: and he called me a clown. He thinks I'm gonna
- 3:29Speaker 2: forget that, right. So he's going on and on. He's
- 3:32Speaker 2: on the roll, doing this typical routine they do out
- 3:34Speaker 2: in Hollywood. And I said, cause you hold a second,
- 3:37Speaker 2: I gotta I gotta take a call from mister click.
- 3:42Speaker 2: And I hung up the phone on him. The guy
- 3:45Speaker 2: has no idea what it is, so he must have
- 3:48Speaker 2: assumed that there was a break. He calls me right
- 3:51Speaker 2: back and I said, yeah, I had a great conversation
- 3:55Speaker 2: with mister Click. I'm sorry it took me a little
- 3:57Speaker 2: bit of time to get back to your call, but
- 3:59Speaker 2: I want you to be able to talk to mister
- 4:02Speaker 2: Click now and then hung up on him. You think
- 4:06Speaker 2: that's do not You think he finally understood that you
- 4:11Speaker 2: don't play with Curtis Lee, right, you don't stroke me
- 4:17Speaker 2: and think I'm not gonna remember. I don't forgive and
- 4:19Speaker 2: I don't forget. Oh, by the way, I hope Greg
- 4:22Speaker 2: Kelly is listening over at WABC because his show prep
- 4:26Speaker 2: was always marked simone the best in the business, and
- 4:28Speaker 2: he's sort of been a dollar short in a day late,
- 4:32Speaker 2: not having a routine to be able to pick pocket from.
- 4:35Speaker 2: But that's okay. Why wouldn't you listen to mark someone
- 4:39Speaker 2: the best in the business. I certainly have over the years.
- 4:43Speaker 2: But let's talk about yesterday, because it was a Hollywood day.
- 4:48Speaker 2: My wife, Nancy, as you know animal welfare activists, was
- 4:52Speaker 2: quest for by the loss of Bridgiet Buddo. Now, obviously
- 4:57Speaker 2: my wife is a millennial. She didn't know Bridge Bardeux
- 5:00Speaker 2: from her Liberated sex Bomb era of movies that she
- 5:05Speaker 2: appeared in especially the ones that were made with Roger Vidim,
- 5:09Speaker 2: who then went on to marry years later Jane Fonda,
- 5:13Speaker 2: remember Barbarella. Yeah, okay, but no, let's stick to Bridget
- 5:16Speaker 2: Bardous that one film and God Created Woman. Right now,
- 5:23Speaker 2: these are all in France, so you gotta have subtitles
- 5:26Speaker 2: to them, right God Created Woman. It opens up with
- 5:31Speaker 2: her sun bathing in the new This is nineteen fifty six.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Think about that, nineteen fifty six, and later she emerges
- 5:41Speaker 2: from the sea in a clinging wet dress. I'll never
- 5:44Speaker 2: forget that scene, and at the top of her career,
- 5:49Speaker 2: with the paparazzi chasing her all over. Remember this is
- 5:53Speaker 2: the era Marilyn Monroe, so many other sex bombs, but
- 5:58Speaker 2: there was a certain fair about Bridshard Bardell. So she's
- 6:05Speaker 2: at the can Film Festival right there off the Mediterranean.
- 6:10Speaker 2: She's in demand, and at the top of her movie
- 6:14Speaker 2: making career, she walks away from it. She goes to
- 6:19Speaker 2: Sanchope and she sets up an animal welfare sanctuary. She
- 6:26Speaker 2: goes out to the Arctic and she confronts these barbarians
- 6:31Speaker 2: who are clubbing baby seals to death. Confronts them. Yeah,
- 6:36Speaker 2: I'm sure some of them are like Brigard Bardeaux my day.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Who would ever think you would see Bridget Bardeaux at
- 6:43Speaker 2: the North Pole. But she was a fighter for animal welfare,
- 6:49Speaker 2: and she consistently railed against laboratory experiments against animals which
- 6:56Speaker 2: are being filtered out in the Trump administration in the
- 7:01Speaker 2: Pentagon also and other federal agencies. Imagine it's still and
- 7:08Speaker 2: you know, testing on beagles.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Like that that udscraciata Dr Fauci testing on beagles, sending
- 7:18Speaker 3: them off to Tunisia, third world country, and then putting
- 7:23Speaker 3: cones around their heads and having sand.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Fleas eat the skin off their heads. For what purposes
- 7:32Speaker 2: we spent money on that? It was never explained, doctor Fauci,
- 7:36Speaker 2: you will burn in hell for that and many other things.
- 7:39Speaker 2: By the way, he's a boy from Bench and her
- 7:41Speaker 2: screw up pharmacy. Uh then went to Regi's the most
- 7:44Speaker 2: prestigious of Jesuit high schools, better than the one I
- 7:47Speaker 2: went to Brooklyn Prep. But he was a disgrace for
- 7:51Speaker 2: many many reasons. All right, let's stick with it with
- 7:54Speaker 2: Bridgard parte. And then she says, I don't care about
- 8:00Speaker 2: my past glory. I am taking every franc every euro
- 8:06Speaker 2: that I have, and I'm investing it in adopting unwanted
- 8:10Speaker 2: animal snowkill shelters Spain and neutering. Now, her politics was
- 8:17Speaker 2: extreme right. She was a follower of Lapenn. She hated Muslims.
- 8:22Speaker 2: She was cited for that many times for hate speech.
- 8:26Speaker 2: But yesterday, for those in the animal welfare community, it
- 8:29Speaker 2: was a reminder how so many who have done so
- 8:33Speaker 2: well in Hollywood in a movie making and in TV
- 8:37Speaker 2: production walked away or in their final years bequeath all
- 8:43Speaker 2: their money to animal welfare. Now, the complete opposite of
- 8:47Speaker 2: Richard Bardow at that time was Dori Stay. She was
- 8:49Speaker 2: America's sweetheart. Remember Doris Stay. I remember seeing her in
- 8:53Speaker 2: Pillow Talk I think it was nineteen sixty with Rock Hudson.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Who know that Rock Hudson was gay, but he was.
- 9:00Speaker 2: These were great movies, but she was America's sweetheart. And
- 9:06Speaker 2: then while doing a film in about nineteen seventy one,
- 9:11Speaker 2: she saw some people abusing animals and immediately I think
- 9:19Speaker 2: she was doing the film The Man who Knew Too Much.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Nineteen seventy one, she established actors and others for animals,
- 9:27Speaker 2: no de fur, no defer, and who joined the Mary
- 9:31Speaker 2: Tyler Moore, Angie Dickenson, Jane Meadows, and of course Bob
- 9:34Speaker 2: Barker the price is right. If he saw you Warring
- 9:38Speaker 2: wearing a fur, he would have punched your schnaz right
- 9:41Speaker 2: down your throat. And this became her passion. She lived
- 9:46Speaker 2: by Karmel by the Sea, you know Clint Eastwood where
- 9:49Speaker 2: he became mayor Karmel by the Sea, a lifelong Republican,
- 9:54Speaker 2: died at ninety seven, bequeathed all of her wealth to
- 9:59Speaker 2: her animal sanctuary. And then, of course there was Betty White.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Betty White died at about a hundred. I never forget
- 10:08Speaker 2: seeing her on phil Donague in the afternoons and she
- 10:11Speaker 2: was talking about her animal welfare fund and somebody was
- 10:14Speaker 2: giving her a hard time. Yeah, look, Betty White, Golden
- 10:17Speaker 2: Girls Hot in Cleveland, the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Betty
- 10:21Speaker 2: White an institution, bequeathed all her money to her animal
- 10:28Speaker 2: Wildlife fund. And then, oh yeah, for the guys out there,
- 10:33Speaker 2: there's Wakie Phoenix. Remember that great movie, the first one,
- 10:40Speaker 2: the Joker, not not the second one with Oh god,
- 10:44Speaker 2: that was not a good one. No no, no, no no.
- 10:48Speaker 2: The second movie could not touch the first one. That
- 10:51Speaker 2: was classic. So here's Joaquin Phoenix. He's receiving the Academy award. Uh,
- 10:58Speaker 2: he's speaking gibberish up who knew where his mind was,
- 11:01Speaker 2: like so many of these actors and actresses. And the
- 11:05Speaker 2: very next day he's out rescuing as she was known
- 11:10Speaker 2: to do animals in factory farms. He would actually go there.
- 11:15Speaker 2: He would say to those in charge of the farmers,
- 11:18Speaker 2: how much you want for that mother cow? How much
- 11:20Speaker 2: you want for that new born calf? Spending his wealth
- 11:23Speaker 2: to do that great actor? So many others, and think
- 11:32Speaker 2: of it, people make fun of you. Would you make
- 11:37Speaker 2: fun of Doris Day? Would you make fun of Betty White? Well,
- 11:41Speaker 2: they do make fun of Joaquin Phoenix. They say he
- 11:44Speaker 2: is looney Kazuni from parts on own great actor, no
- 11:48Speaker 2: doubt about it. And Bridget Bardeux, who when they said
- 11:53Speaker 2: are you a recluse, she said, no, I'm not a recluse.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I would rather deal with animals than with people. And
- 12:00Speaker 2: then the most recent maybe we'll get to it in
- 12:03Speaker 2: this week when I'm substituting for Mark Simoon. Pigeons, which,
- 12:13Speaker 2: in my mind, Street pigeons should be the official bird
- 12:17Speaker 2: of New York city. Right, Oh man, you get such battles.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Some people say they're nothing more than rats with wings.
- 12:26Speaker 2: You know, they put up spikes on their windows cells. Hey,
- 12:29Speaker 2: you don't want pigeons coming on your window cells. Put
- 12:31Speaker 2: up plastic owls. That's like a natural nemesis to them.
- 12:36Speaker 2: It sort of like when you go to a cornfield
- 12:38Speaker 2: and they put up scarecrows and keeps the crows who
- 12:40Speaker 2: have very smart. Pigeons very smart, but they will not
- 12:43Speaker 2: land on a window cell or any area that has
- 12:46Speaker 2: a plastic owl in. And boy, a tremendous controversy raging
- 12:54Speaker 2: because another great actress actually came to the support of pigeons,
- 13:05Speaker 2: the actress Sarah Paulson. She did a podcast in what
- 13:10Speaker 2: she was saying, we shouldn't be torturing these street pigeons.
- 13:15Speaker 2: They're a part of our New York City heritage and legacy,
- 13:18Speaker 2: and they are and they have performed so many services
- 13:22Speaker 2: for us over the decades, without which we might have
- 13:27Speaker 2: suffered enormously. And I grew up with pigeons on the
- 13:32Speaker 2: roof of my grandfather and grandmother's house in Knarci. My
- 13:36Speaker 2: uncle Vincenz used to have a pigeon coop There were
- 13:38Speaker 2: a lot of pigeon coops back then, so I nurtured them,
- 13:42Speaker 2: I fed them, I trained them Boston Bulldies and Homer's
- 13:49Speaker 2: so I have a direct infinity for pigeons. But boy,
- 13:53Speaker 2: you talk about mixing ammonian bleach and my own wife.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I'm so proud of her, Nancy, who stood up to
- 14:00Speaker 2: a comrade build a blasio back then, the part time mayor,
- 14:03Speaker 2: the dope from Park Slope, when he said, if you
- 14:06Speaker 2: feed pigeons, we are gonna find you and my wife Nancy,
- 14:14Speaker 2: in classic Clint Eastwood terminology, turned to build a blasio
- 14:21Speaker 2: on the steps of city Hall when he was mayor
- 14:24Speaker 2: unfortunately for eight years, and said make my day as
- 14:30Speaker 2: she and others began feeding the pigeons right there. Oh
- 14:35Speaker 2: you can see all that. Just go to act Curtis Sliwer.
- 14:37Speaker 2: It's all posted there. But what a day following the
- 14:42Speaker 2: Hollywood reporter, I mean, dissing and dismissing somebody of great renown.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Gotta know, you don't play with Curtis Sliwa, You don't
- 14:53Speaker 2: play with me. Coming up next, so we got to
- 14:57Speaker 2: talk about two books that are being published by about
- 15:02Speaker 2: Bernard Getz forty one years later coming out at the
- 15:05Speaker 2: same time by the same publishing house. And I guarantee
- 15:09Speaker 2: you because of that, it'll probably be a movie made
- 15:13Speaker 2: about what occurred forty one years ago in December of
- 15:20Speaker 2: the subways of New York City that I spend most
- 15:22Speaker 2: of my time in. Our number is eight hundred three
- 15:25Speaker 2: two one zero seven ten. That's eight hundred three two
- 15:30Speaker 2: one zero seven ten, because this is the place for
- 15:35Speaker 2: you to be heard. Now if you if you weren't
- 15:38Speaker 2: part of the WOOR seven ten listenership, you need to
- 15:43Speaker 2: now I announce you are, and there are a growing
- 15:46Speaker 2: number of people out there. Just uh dial right in
- 15:51Speaker 2: at eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Curtis Sleewald, guess host for marximon on seven tenor.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Too bad? Is he who left WABC to come here
- 16:09Speaker 2: to be with everybody here at war along with Jacqueline
- 16:13Speaker 2: carl who I heard this morning newsgalp same thing. Great
- 16:18Speaker 2: to see all these people here. Even better is he
- 16:21Speaker 2: if you could have played coming back into this segment
- 16:25Speaker 2: cooling the Gang Hollywood Swinging, Now that's the original cool
- 16:30Speaker 2: in the Gang. Don't don't don't strain your brain? Is
- 16:32Speaker 2: he from Jersey City that was Robert Coolbell, and they
- 16:37Speaker 2: were followers of Schooy Louis friar Kin in the Nation
- 16:41Speaker 2: of Islam. So that becomes a choke because that was
- 16:43Speaker 2: a favorite group of mine. I mean, walking around today,
- 16:46Speaker 2: coming out of the subway with the drizzle, the gray,
- 16:50Speaker 2: it was sort of like Winter Sadness another great song
- 16:52Speaker 2: of this, or Summer Madness, great stuff Old cool in
- 16:55Speaker 2: the gang. But you don't have to do that, because
- 17:00Speaker 2: speaking about coming out of the subways, I'm almost guaranteeing
- 17:05Speaker 2: you out there that there's gonna be a movie being
- 17:08Speaker 2: made soon about the subway gunman Bernard Gets. Now it's
- 17:13Speaker 2: not in the Hollywood Reporter, has been reported anywhere, but
- 17:16Speaker 2: I was on the line with a New York Times
- 17:18Speaker 2: reporter who was telling me, Curtis, how do you make
- 17:21Speaker 2: what do you make of this? Forty one years later,
- 17:24Speaker 2: remember it was in December of nineteen eighty four that
- 17:29Speaker 2: Bernard Gets shot Barry Allen, Troy Kanty, James Ramseur, Daryl
- 17:33Speaker 2: Kaby once a piece as they were surrounding him, almost
- 17:39Speaker 2: like in a cockwork orange and then when Daryl Kby
- 17:43Speaker 2: was on the ground, he shot him once in the
- 17:44Speaker 2: back and said you don't you know, looks so bad Bang,
- 17:48Speaker 2: and then fled into the subway and disappeared to New
- 17:51Speaker 2: Hampshire eventually turned himself in. So he got two books
- 17:54Speaker 2: coming out from the same publishing house at the same time.
- 17:59Speaker 2: And so there's got to be something that's cole mingling,
- 18:02Speaker 2: conflating out, conflating out there. And the one question he
- 18:07Speaker 2: asked me says, how would New York City treat the
- 18:12Speaker 2: subway gunman? Now if that had occurred this year as
- 18:16Speaker 2: compared to forty one years ago, I saill forget about it.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I mean, Black Lives Matter would be resurrected. You know,
- 18:22Speaker 2: they became big, large mansions, they became a real estate
- 18:25Speaker 2: firm at people's expense with donating money to that fraudulent operation.
- 18:32Speaker 2: But anyway, they'd be back out on the streets. No justice,
- 18:35Speaker 2: no peace, morning, noon and night, every day, every week,
- 18:39Speaker 2: every month. And look at the hard time they gave
- 18:43Speaker 2: Daniel Penny, the marine who unfortunately had to choke Jordan
- 18:49Speaker 2: Neely to stop him from threatening people on that f
- 18:52Speaker 2: train back in May of twenty twenty three. A lot
- 18:55Speaker 2: of people forget that Auxlim Shady Sharpton, who was protesting
- 18:59Speaker 2: against Bernard Gets during that trial, was also urging his
- 19:04Speaker 2: friend Alvin Bragg to charge the two people who helped
- 19:09Speaker 2: restrain Jordan Neely with Daniel Penny. He wanted them charged
- 19:13Speaker 2: with manslaughter, along with aoc all our crazy Alexandria Cassio Cortes.
- 19:19Speaker 2: So the difference is the community was split back then
- 19:23Speaker 2: in nineteen eighty four, had half the people that were
- 19:26Speaker 2: supporting Bernard Gets other half not. No matter it depending
- 19:29Speaker 2: where you went. It became a racially charged issue and
- 19:33Speaker 2: it pitted white versus black, as so many instances that
- 19:38Speaker 2: it affected our city did back then, coming from the
- 19:41Speaker 2: time that Ed Koch was mayor for the last time
- 19:45Speaker 2: and then lost in that Democratic primary to David Dinkins,
- 19:48Speaker 2: it was a racially charged era. Now, how many people
- 19:54Speaker 2: would have been standing up in support of Bernard Gets,
- 19:58Speaker 2: few of any. This city has changed significantly from forty
- 20:05Speaker 2: one years ago, and it's interesting that books coming out now. Also,
- 20:12Speaker 2: I'm going to give you an update. You don't want
- 20:14Speaker 2: to go anywhere. Remember I've been tracking it down how
- 20:17Speaker 2: Republican leadership in Washington and throughout New York State has
- 20:22Speaker 2: forsaken the Republican Party. Yep, they want a uni party.
- 20:27Speaker 2: They want one party, and they're going to try to
- 20:31Speaker 2: convince all of you. In future elections they go with
- 20:34Speaker 2: the moderate Democrat against the socialist Democrat because Republicans don't
- 20:39Speaker 2: have a chance to win in citywide elections and statewide elections.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Remember I spent last week upstate New York and Albany, Renseala, Troy,
- 20:51Speaker 2: Schenectady learning more. Last night I was at a Republican
- 20:55Speaker 2: confab in New York City connecting the dots and oh,
- 21:01Speaker 2: you don't want to go anywhere, because not only did
- 21:05Speaker 2: they stab me in the back and at least Stephonic,
- 21:09Speaker 2: but they're gonna try to convince you if the Schmucker
- 21:13Speaker 2: putts Chucky chies, Schumer decides to run again, and that's
- 21:18Speaker 2: always a possibility because they never quite understand till death,
- 21:22Speaker 2: do you part. They want to stay in office until
- 21:25Speaker 2: their room tempership. Oh no, no, you're gonna have to listen.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Oh man, you'll say never never. Oh yeah, it's already happening,
- 21:37Speaker 2: And I'll connect all the dots of you, and then
- 21:39Speaker 2: who weighs in on our fire Commissioner, Ellen Musk. You
- 21:44Speaker 2: know this is why I say about the billionaires the
- 21:46Speaker 2: masters of the universe. They know what they do. They
- 21:49Speaker 2: need to stay in their lane. Talk about a schmucker
- 21:53Speaker 2: of Putts. Does he not realize? Of course he doesn't.
- 21:56Speaker 2: How many fire commissioners we've had here in New York
- 21:59Speaker 2: City that never put out a basket fire. And I'm
- 22:05Speaker 2: not just talking about with Eric Adams swager Man with
- 22:08Speaker 2: no plan who got wine dining in pocket line. I
- 22:11Speaker 2: can't wait. I can't wait till he's out of here
- 22:14Speaker 2: because he's still cetching. Oh woe is me. I'm such
- 22:22Speaker 2: a victim. But now it's time for you to be hurt.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Call eight hundred three to two one zero seventy ten
- 22:32Speaker 2: your newfound friend. If you haven't listened before this seven
- 22:35Speaker 2: to ten war, that's eight hundred three two one zero
- 22:40Speaker 2: sevent ten.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Curtis sleewa guest hoes for Mark Simone on sevent ten wor.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Very good? Very good? Is he anyway? Coming off of
- 22:59Speaker 2: that article in the Hollywood Reporter that was making my
- 23:02Speaker 2: phone singing ring, not interested? And I introduced them to
- 23:07Speaker 2: mister click. The headline was Curtis LEEO just wants to
- 23:11Speaker 2: know where you're from, So I said to is her
- 23:14Speaker 2: board operator where you're from. He said, West Milford and
- 23:17Speaker 2: I said, oh, that's where Jungle Habitat was. Oh, that
- 23:21Speaker 2: was great Jungle habitat. And then to know how my
- 23:24Speaker 2: mind works, I'm thinking, oh, the other great song from
- 23:27Speaker 2: Cooling the Gang, the original was Jungle Boogie back in
- 23:33Speaker 2: nineteen seventy three, seventy four. They were from Jersey City,
- 23:36Speaker 2: from the Wild and Peaceful album. And that's when is
- 23:40Speaker 2: he walked away from me and said, man, let me
- 23:44Speaker 2: get out of here. Back to the boardroom. Anyway, let's
- 23:47Speaker 2: go to the phones. It's your turn to be heard.
- 23:49Speaker 2: It's Phil calling from Queen's Welcome to Seven to ten
- 23:54Speaker 2: War film.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Hey, best wishes her great happy new year. Thank you
- 23:59Speaker 4: for running. You know you're still a hero to most
- 24:02Speaker 4: New Yorkers. I'm hoping that you will stay on the
- 24:05Speaker 4: case because, as Bob Gregg would say, stake, phony and
- 24:09Speaker 4: fraud is gonna be messing around. I hope a lot
- 24:12Speaker 4: of people will show up.
- 24:15Speaker 5: For peaceful protests at his inauguration.
- 24:17Speaker 4: If you notice, he has a closed party. He's capturing
- 24:22Speaker 4: emails and contacts for future fundraising and future mobilization. And
- 24:29Speaker 4: I just I know you're gonna stay on it. I
- 24:31Speaker 4: just wanted to stay.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Hockey and I appreciate that. Phil understand this. I ain't
- 24:35Speaker 2: going nowhere. I improve, I don't move. I will be
- 24:41Speaker 2: part of that group that says to the barricades. Look,
- 24:44Speaker 2: John MONDAMMI won the election, fair and square. It's a
- 24:48Speaker 2: fair election. He's entitled to have his celebration. Hey, that's
- 24:52Speaker 2: another cool in the game classic celebration. But anyway, the
- 24:56Speaker 2: point being he's entitled everywhere. Oh he's gonna have the blocks.
- 25:02Speaker 2: The guy gets elected, right, the first Muslim man. Oh
- 25:06Speaker 2: my god, let's get rid of it. No, no, no, no,
- 25:09Speaker 2: you can't deport people just because he are Muslim. Okay,
- 25:13Speaker 2: especially naturalized citizens. Right. That means this is it. So
- 25:17Speaker 2: people getting all bent out of shit. He won let
- 25:21Speaker 2: them have this celebrations or nieces. Okay, let's see what
- 25:25Speaker 2: he actually does in running government. But this is a
- 25:32Speaker 2: worldwide network here seven to ten wor and we have
- 25:35Speaker 2: people who are calling from all over America. So let's
- 25:39Speaker 2: immediately go if we can to Bob, who's calling from
- 25:43Speaker 2: San Diego. Your turn to be heard here at seven
- 25:46Speaker 2: to ten. Woar Bob, good.
- 25:50Speaker 5: To hear you back on the air. Curtis, I live
- 25:53Speaker 5: out here in San Diego, but I'm in New Yorker.
- 25:55Speaker 5: I've moved here three years ago. Helped the family out
- 26:00Speaker 5: I had. I helped erase a grandchild out here. But
- 26:05Speaker 5: it's nice idea, but I really missed New York and
- 26:07Speaker 5: hearing you back on the air. You're a New York institution,
- 26:11Speaker 5: but we have so much in common. On the same
- 26:13Speaker 5: age as you. I also went to a Catholic high
- 26:16Speaker 5: school and I remember seeing you, maybe your senior year.
- 26:21Speaker 5: You were rather swimming meet at Brooklyn Prep. My school
- 26:24Speaker 5: was swimming against your school. I remember seeing you, and
- 26:28Speaker 5: a friend of mine told me you had been suspended
- 26:31Speaker 5: and you were the class president.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Now let me ask you a question, Bob, in
- 26:36Speaker 2: normal gym class, when your school had pools, because a
- 26:40Speaker 2: lot of the Catholic high schools had pools, and so
- 26:42Speaker 2: the public high schools have pools, I could never figure
- 26:46Speaker 2: out when you had to go to your gym class,
- 26:49Speaker 2: which was pool once a week, you had to take
- 26:52Speaker 2: your trunks off. You had to swim nude. The physical
- 26:59Speaker 2: I guess education teacher they called him, said, oh no,
- 27:02Speaker 2: you can't swim in the pool wearing trunks. Now, I
- 27:06Speaker 2: thought that was pretty pervy, especially with all that chlorine
- 27:11Speaker 2: in there. I mean you could die from the chlorine
- 27:15Speaker 2: sort of a pool that hung over the pool, and
- 27:19Speaker 2: yet they demanded that you had to take your chunks
- 27:21Speaker 2: off when you dived into the pool. I thought that
- 27:23Speaker 2: was a bit freaky. Deekeey Bob.
- 27:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I kind of remember that my school, Manta Christie,
- 27:30Speaker 5: we were a diocesus in high school in Queens. We
- 27:33Speaker 5: didn't have a pool, so we had to go work
- 27:36Speaker 5: out at the Kipsbay Boys Club in Manhattan, and they
- 27:40Speaker 5: had that policy there. You couldn't wear a suit.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Yeah, no, no, no, there's something there's something very very
- 27:47Speaker 2: Epstein about that. If you get to drift Ah, that's weird. Now,
- 27:54Speaker 2: Manti Christie, which are now Saint John's Prep there in
- 27:57Speaker 2: that story which is the land of Zoran Mandami. See
- 28:01Speaker 2: see how my mind works. A lot of calls they're
- 28:06Speaker 2: blazing away. But don't be glazing me in these calls.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Let's be talking about what's happening out there. Let's go
- 28:15Speaker 2: to Frank. I call it Little Dublin. He's calling from
- 28:20Speaker 2: Woodlawn right south of the Westchester border. McLean Avenue, your
- 28:26Speaker 2: turn to be heard here at seven to ten wo
- 28:28Speaker 2: or Frankie.
- 28:31Speaker 6: Hi Curtis, Minnesota is not the only place that has
- 28:34Speaker 6: problem with these charity frauds. If you go through any
- 28:37Speaker 6: neighborhood in the Bronx Queens, Brooklyn, you'll see storefront daycare center,
- 28:43Speaker 6: storefront tutoring learning centers. They're all scams that the Democrats
- 28:49Speaker 6: have set up to send money to their hacks in
- 28:51Speaker 6: the community. There's nothing going on at those places other
- 28:54Speaker 6: than stealing the money.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Well look, look, we've had medicaid mills here for you years,
- 29:01Speaker 2: in all different kinds of communities. They go in, they
- 29:04Speaker 2: write your script doctors whatever you want, and you become
- 29:08Speaker 2: a pill freak and they charge the taxpayers. And this
- 29:13Speaker 2: gone on for years. And oh the Somalians are ripping
- 29:17Speaker 2: them off in Minnesota. No, no, no, no, New York,
- 29:21Speaker 2: New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania. They get taken into all these places,
- 29:30Speaker 2: don't ask surprise. There is no oversight. There is no
- 29:34Speaker 2: oversight to most of the government. What they do is
- 29:39Speaker 2: they tax us from the cradle to the grave, and
- 29:41Speaker 2: there's no oversight. And then occasionally they determine, oh there's
- 29:44Speaker 2: corruption there. Let's see how many people actually get prosecuted
- 29:50Speaker 2: and the fall through the cracks, and how many politicians
- 29:54Speaker 2: elected officials should go down for the count on that.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Our numbers one eight hundred and three to two, one
- 30:04Speaker 2: zero seven ten. For many of you, I know you
- 30:07Speaker 2: used to listen to WABC, which I was on always
- 30:10Speaker 2: broadcasting Curtis became always blaming Curtis for the election of Zohanmandami.
- 30:17Speaker 2: It's just just not the case. I understand that from
- 30:21Speaker 2: some people very close to Andrew Cuomo over the weekend.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I call them como sexuals that as the new year
- 30:30Speaker 2: is upon us, he's still crying. If only Curticians jomped down,
- 30:35Speaker 2: it could have been the mayor. Come on you, mama, Luke,
- 30:37Speaker 2: it's over. Just stay out in the Hamptons with your
- 30:42Speaker 2: billionaire friends. Just leave the subways and streets to me.
- 30:48Speaker 2: I got some stories about that coming up.
- 30:50Speaker 1: You know.
- 30:50Speaker 2: With the end of the Metro card, the scammers were
- 30:54Speaker 2: out in force this morning in the subways, taking advantage
- 30:58Speaker 2: of tourists and the empty money taking agency. They don't care.
- 31:03Speaker 2: They don't care. They rip us off. Might as well
- 31:05Speaker 2: rip off the tourists too.
- 31:08Speaker 1: And now more with New York's iconic straight shooter Curtis
- 31:13Speaker 1: Leewah guest hosting from Mark Simone on sevent ten woor.
- 31:22Speaker 2: So, now you've heard a lot about the phasing out
- 31:25Speaker 2: of the metro card to do your swipe into the
- 31:30Speaker 2: subway system, and obviously they're going to, uh, what can
- 31:35Speaker 2: we call that? The tap and run, you know, with
- 31:38Speaker 2: your debut card, your credit card and the Omni card.
- 31:43Speaker 2: I'm a token guy myself, I try. I love it
- 31:46Speaker 2: when during the age of crack in the eighties you
- 31:49Speaker 2: had the token suckers. They would actually go up to
- 31:53Speaker 2: the portal where you put your subway token in. They
- 31:57Speaker 2: would stuff it with paper or paper clips so that
- 32:00Speaker 2: if we get caught, you wouldn't be able to go
- 32:02Speaker 2: through the turnstiles. You'd scream over to the boardop, excuse me,
- 32:07Speaker 2: to the token booth clerk who was always asleep in
- 32:09Speaker 2: the booths. Hey, yeah, go ahead through, and then then
- 32:14Speaker 2: all of a sudden the crackhead would come and suck
- 32:16Speaker 2: the token right out of the portal and then sell
- 32:21Speaker 2: it to people for like half price. I mean that
- 32:23Speaker 2: used to be all over the place. So then they
- 32:26Speaker 2: went metro card and then guys would bend the Metro
- 32:30Speaker 2: card and sell you swipes there because they figured out
- 32:35Speaker 2: how to steal money from us through the MTA money
- 32:39Speaker 2: taking agency. There's always been rusters, just like you have
- 32:42Speaker 2: the turnstiles. Now they say, oh we have flippers here,
- 32:46Speaker 2: we have guardrails here, and people are still avoiding paying
- 32:49Speaker 2: the fare. It's fair evasion galore everywhere I go. But
- 32:53Speaker 2: this morning, on my way here to war seven to ten,
- 32:58Speaker 2: I'm looking at the these guys, these hustlers, and they're
- 33:02Speaker 2: taking advantage of tourists in the subway because where they
- 33:06Speaker 2: in front of the machine that would give them their
- 33:10Speaker 2: final Metro card or their Omni card right to get
- 33:14Speaker 2: into the subway. So these huss that you give me
- 33:16Speaker 2: the money and I'll swipe you win. I go up
- 33:18Speaker 2: to them and say, yo, man, get the hell out
- 33:22Speaker 2: of this station again. Talking with clerk's doing nothing, not
- 33:27Speaker 2: my business as tourists are getting ripped off. And then
- 33:31Speaker 2: the guy has the nerve to say to me, I
- 33:34Speaker 2: voted for you. Could all of you do me a favor.
- 33:38Speaker 2: If all of you who have come up to me
- 33:40Speaker 2: actually voted for me, I would be sworn in as
- 33:43Speaker 2: the mayor and not Zoran Mandami. This coming January. First,
- 33:47Speaker 2: please stop it already. Most of you did not vote
- 33:52Speaker 2: for me, but I guess you feel like, Oh, I'm
- 33:55Speaker 2: gonna make them feel good. Yeah, I voted for you.
- 33:58Speaker 2: What And then I ask you where you from? And
- 34:00Speaker 2: you tell me Scarsdale in Westchester. How did you do that?
- 34:04Speaker 2: Don't go anywhere. Up next, the Republican leadership do not
- 34:08Speaker 2: want Republicans to win citywide, a statewide ever again in
- 34:12Speaker 2: New York State. I'm gonna connect all the dots for
- 34:14Speaker 2: you now.
- 34:16Speaker 1: The Red Beret has returned to radio. Curtis Leewall guest
- 34:21Speaker 1: host The Mark Simone Show on sevent ten woor.
- 34:32Speaker 2: I had my Christmas present last week substooting for Mark Simon.
- 34:37Speaker 2: He's the best in the business. And then I get
- 34:40Speaker 2: my pre birthday gift substooting for Mark this week up
- 34:45Speaker 2: until the second and that birthday March twenty six. I'll
- 34:49Speaker 2: be seventy two, and I know more about New York
- 34:53Speaker 2: City and politics and anybody alive. There's no doubt about it.
- 34:58Speaker 2: I challenge anybody because I know where all the bones
- 35:01Speaker 2: are buried in who bury them? And I don't mince
- 35:04Speaker 2: my language. We are going to get into subject matter
- 35:08Speaker 2: that is of incredible importance to all of you if
- 35:13Speaker 2: you happen to live within New York State, and the
- 35:16Speaker 2: same philosophy could be coming to a state where you
- 35:20Speaker 2: live or near you. Because I've spent incredible amount of
- 35:27Speaker 2: time since losing the election to Zoran Mondomi, and yes
- 35:30Speaker 2: he is the may he won fair and square. He
- 35:33Speaker 2: is going to have his celebration after he is sworn
- 35:37Speaker 2: in by Bernie the out the Coca Sanders, originally from Brooklyn,
- 35:42Speaker 2: who went to Madison High School, which is also where
- 35:46Speaker 2: Chuck Schumer went. By the way, update on Chuck Schumer.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah, a lot of you are not gonna like it.
- 35:56Speaker 2: But the masters of the universe, the billionaires, they just
- 36:00Speaker 2: can't stop themselves from getting involved in things they know
- 36:03Speaker 2: absolutely nothing about. Big story, We're gonna get into it
- 36:09Speaker 2: in this hour. It's how Elon Musk decides to weigh
- 36:14Speaker 2: in on the new fire commissioner, who he claims, as
- 36:20Speaker 2: a result of Zarhon Mondami's appointment, that people will die
- 36:26Speaker 2: as a result. Now he knows nothing at all about
- 36:28Speaker 2: New York City. He happens to see somebody else who
- 36:30Speaker 2: posted this, who themselves know nothing at all about the
- 36:35Speaker 2: history of the fire Department and fire commissioners in New
- 36:37Speaker 2: York City, and he reposts it and obviously he's in
- 36:41Speaker 2: charge of accent. He's getting millions of hits like he
- 36:43Speaker 2: somehow knows all about this about the only thing he
- 36:48Speaker 2: doesn't know is how to put out those fires from
- 36:52Speaker 2: his Tesla batteries in his electric cars, because when they
- 36:56Speaker 2: go on fire, Oh, it takes words to put him out.
- 37:01Speaker 2: He hasn't even yet figured that out. But we'll talk
- 37:04Speaker 2: about that momentarily, because he couldn't be more hopelessly wrong.
- 37:10Speaker 2: And once again, I'll explain it from a historical performance.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Most of the fire commissioners of late most I'm not
- 37:18Speaker 2: just talking about those appointed by Eric Adams Swaggerman with
- 37:22Speaker 2: no plan and I can't wait for him to get
- 37:25Speaker 2: get out of here, get out of our lives.
- 37:28Speaker 7: But prior yeah, let's see Bloombert Giuliani think it's nobody's
- 37:37Speaker 7: even mentioning all the fire commissioners who served for those
- 37:40Speaker 7: mayors who had never put out a waste paper basket fire.
- 37:45Speaker 2: But do you think that a guy like Elon Mosk,
- 37:49Speaker 2: who's omnipotent, thinks he knows everything like all those billionaires
- 37:53Speaker 2: and millionaires because they've succeeded in business. They're very wealthy.
- 37:57Speaker 2: You think he'll apologize, of course not they do. Like
- 38:02Speaker 2: Trump yesterday, I had to turn it off in the
- 38:04Speaker 2: wee hours of the morning. He's he's standing there with
- 38:07Speaker 2: Zelensky and he's saying, yeah, Russia really wants to see
- 38:12Speaker 2: the Ukraine succeed. Man, they's no way. Yeah, if Russia
- 38:18Speaker 2: takes over the Ukraine again. By the way, the Ukraine
- 38:21Speaker 2: gave up it's nuclear arsenal. They had more nuclear weapons
- 38:26Speaker 2: than anyone else other than the United States, and the
- 38:29Speaker 2: old Soviet Union isn't. Back in nineteen ninety one, Bill
- 38:33Speaker 2: Clinton was president and he convinced him give up your
- 38:36Speaker 2: nuclear payload. Yeah, how did that work out? But when
- 38:41Speaker 2: all of a sudden, Trump is saying, oh, yeah, Russia.
- 38:43Speaker 2: I just spoke to Putin earlier today on the phone, Yeah,
- 38:46Speaker 2: Russia really wants to see the Ukraine succeed. And I'm like,
- 38:50Speaker 2: Zelensky say something. Of course, Ain' isn't gonna say anything
- 38:55Speaker 2: because nobody can ever challenge Donald Trump. I believe you
- 38:59Speaker 2: challenge authority no matter who's in charge. And when somebody
- 39:03Speaker 2: makes absolutely ridiculous comments, you must challenge it, like when
- 39:08Speaker 2: Trump said that it was the Ukraine that started the war.
- 39:14Speaker 2: How many Republicans challenge him. We're getting into Republican leadership,
- 39:19Speaker 2: and how so many Republicans are just afraid to challenge
- 39:23Speaker 2: authority at any level, local, regional, state, national. It's not
- 39:30Speaker 2: you know it. Don't make a big deal about it.
- 39:31Speaker 2: I always make big deals about it, because I believe
- 39:34Speaker 2: you have to question authority, especially when it doesn't make sense,
- 39:40Speaker 2: like that ridiculous statement yesterday of mar Lago where the
- 39:43Speaker 2: President says, yeah, Zonski, Russia really wants you to be
- 39:47Speaker 2: successful in the Ukraine, and Zelenski, you bite your tongue,
- 39:53Speaker 2: don't say anything, or Trump and the administration will go
- 39:58Speaker 2: on a rampage against you, all right, pu Teta side.
- 40:02Speaker 2: As you know, I've spent a lot of time bisecting
- 40:05Speaker 2: and dissecting the fact that Republican leadership here in the
- 40:09Speaker 2: state of New York has decided they want a UNI party,
- 40:12Speaker 2: they don't want a two party system. They have convinced
- 40:15Speaker 2: themselves and they have convinced a lot of the Republican
- 40:19Speaker 2: registered voters that Republicans cannot win a city wide election
- 40:23Speaker 2: or a state wide election Now for some of you,
- 40:26Speaker 2: you may say, well, that sounds pretty personal. It is
- 40:29Speaker 2: because I went through that from the highest levels of
- 40:33Speaker 2: the White House to Elon Musk himself as soon to
- 40:37Speaker 2: be a trillionaire, the world's richest guy, to a guy
- 40:41Speaker 2: named Akman. Who the hell is this guy? Ackman? Every
- 40:44Speaker 2: day he was tweeting Curtis, you can't win, drop out,
- 40:47Speaker 2: drop out, drop out travel and you know how that went.
- 40:51Speaker 2: And then in the waning days of the campaign, Republican
- 40:55Speaker 2: leaders Republicans decided vote for slendamivofa Cuomo. U Discratsiata in
- 41:03Speaker 2: every which way. I mean, we could spend the rest
- 41:05Speaker 2: of this program just talking about what a disgrace that
- 41:09Speaker 2: guy was, because in their minds, there are two parties
- 41:14Speaker 2: in New York State. Now there are moderate Democrats and
- 41:19Speaker 2: there are socialist Democrats, and Republicans don't have a chance
- 41:23Speaker 2: to beat them citywide or in statewide elections. Now put
- 41:26Speaker 2: my election aside. Still with at least Stephonic we talked
- 41:31Speaker 2: about her last week. Suddenly she drops out and says,
- 41:35Speaker 2: not only is she dropping out of a Republican primary
- 41:38Speaker 2: against Bruce Plateman, but she's not gonna run for reelection
- 41:43Speaker 2: in the House. We lose a superstar because Republican leadership
- 41:48Speaker 2: was working behind the scenes to throw her under the bus.
- 41:52Speaker 2: You see, as much as Donald Trump, the President, threw
- 41:57Speaker 2: her under the bus. The worst part was is that
- 42:01Speaker 2: Alista Phonic had put together a campaign team mostly from
- 42:05Speaker 2: upstate New York, people that she knew, people that she trusted.
- 42:10Speaker 2: And the Park Avenue crowd down here, most of whom
- 42:14Speaker 2: are not Republicans, but they act like they can tell
- 42:17Speaker 2: Republicans what to do. And it's not Park Avenue in
- 42:21Speaker 2: Brooklyn and Park Avenue in the Bronx, which they've never
- 42:23Speaker 2: traveled to. It's Park Avenue in Manhattan. Decided there's nobody
- 42:29Speaker 2: from downstate involved in Alista phonics campaign. We're gonna go
- 42:34Speaker 2: all on board with Bruce Blakeman because Bruce Blakeman is
- 42:38Speaker 2: a winner. This is what they said. And he won
- 42:40Speaker 2: very convincingly the Nassau County executive position re election against
- 42:45Speaker 2: his Democratic opponent. And then I hear them tell the yeah,
- 42:50Speaker 2: and he's a winner. He's a winner said. If you've
- 42:53Speaker 2: been around long enough in politics, you've probably lost more
- 42:57Speaker 2: than you won. Remember, Donald Trump was an exception to
- 43:00Speaker 2: the rule. Of twenty sixteen, he's on the stage the
- 43:03Speaker 2: announcements the president. He shot Hillary Rodham. Clinton was in
- 43:06Speaker 2: a fetal position at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, spent
- 43:11Speaker 2: maybe a month in a fetal position that couldn't accept
- 43:15Speaker 2: the fact that she had lost. Very unusual. So I'm saying, look,
- 43:19Speaker 2: I know Bruce Blakeman. I like the guy, But let's
- 43:24Speaker 2: face it, who would you want to be running against
- 43:27Speaker 2: Kathy Hockel. I mean, I remember Bruce Blakeman. He ran
- 43:30Speaker 2: for state Controller as a Republican ninety eight against Carl
- 43:33Speaker 2: McCole loss. He ran for the Nassau County Legislature ninety
- 43:37Speaker 2: nine loss, ran for the US Senate special election twenty ten,
- 43:42Speaker 2: remember when Hillary decided she would become Secretary of State
- 43:46Speaker 2: and he lost the primary to Joe the Aguardi. And
- 43:50Speaker 2: in twenty fourteen he ran for the House and lost
- 43:53Speaker 2: to Kathleen Rice. So that doesn't disqualify him, because you know,
- 43:57Speaker 2: people say, well, well you got all no, no, no, no.
- 44:01Speaker 2: If you can run, he should run. But why did
- 44:05Speaker 2: all of a sudden you notice people of great influence
- 44:08Speaker 2: surround Kathy Hokel and we're meeting with her and they
- 44:16Speaker 2: have come to the conclusion, and I know because people
- 44:19Speaker 2: have shared the conversations with me that rather than put
- 44:23Speaker 2: all of their fiscal resource and support behind Bruce Blakeman,
- 44:30Speaker 2: that they're actually going to work for Kathy Hokel to
- 44:32Speaker 2: get reelected because she'll keep Zora Mandami and the Democratic
- 44:36Speaker 2: Socialist in check. Yeah. Right, but they figure they'll have
- 44:40Speaker 2: more control with her because they don't think a Republican
- 44:43Speaker 2: can win. This is coming off the mayoral election, and
- 44:46Speaker 2: by the way, President Donald Trump did Elie Stefaniki disservice,
- 44:51Speaker 2: throwing her under the bus on a number of occasions
- 44:53Speaker 2: that led to her unexpected dropping out. Although I kind
- 44:57Speaker 2: of felt it, I kind of felt it was coming.
- 45:01Speaker 2: And now we have what you're really not going to like,
- 45:05Speaker 2: and that's why we got to stop this. I was
- 45:07Speaker 2: at a major gathering of Republicans yesterday in Midtown and
- 45:13Speaker 2: I broke the news to all of them who had
- 45:16Speaker 2: gathered for their holiday party, is that there are Republican
- 45:20Speaker 2: leaders now, and there are Republican business people Park Avenue
- 45:25Speaker 2: people who are meeting with Chuck Schumer despise loath Right
- 45:30Speaker 2: the lowest of ratings of any major political figure in
- 45:34Speaker 2: the country, it's down to about twenty eight percent. And
- 45:38Speaker 2: they have come to the conclusion that if he decides
- 45:41Speaker 2: to run for reelection, and let's face it, all these
- 45:44Speaker 2: guys and gals, that's why you need term limits. It's
- 45:46Speaker 2: until death do they part. They'll run forever. Get the
- 45:49Speaker 2: defibriator next to them. They could be in the ICU.
- 45:53Speaker 2: They want to run. But if Chuck Schuma decides to run,
- 46:00Speaker 2: already Republican leaders and people, you know, the Acmans of
- 46:06Speaker 2: the world, who know nothing about politics. You know, they
- 46:09Speaker 2: know a lot about Wall Street, a lot about hedge funds.
- 46:12Speaker 2: They've done very well in business, but they know nothing
- 46:14Speaker 2: about nothing when it comes to politics because they made
- 46:17Speaker 2: all the wrong choices. Are now meeting privately with Chuck
- 46:20Speaker 2: Schumer and saying, you know, you probably can't win a
- 46:24Speaker 2: Democratic primary if you run like CuMo, but they'll probably
- 46:30Speaker 2: either be AOC running against you in a Democratic primary,
- 46:33Speaker 2: or if she decides to run for the presidency the
- 46:35Speaker 2: Democratic primary, there'll be somebody else from the socialist wing
- 46:40Speaker 2: of the Democratic Party and you'll lose. But then in
- 46:42Speaker 2: the general election, we'll do like we did for Cromo.
- 46:45Speaker 2: We'll get Republicans to support you independence Conservatives and moderate
- 46:50Speaker 2: Democrats to stop a socialist from becoming a US Senate.
- 46:55Speaker 2: He's entertaining that why would they be doing that, because
- 47:01Speaker 2: they have already cast their lot into a UNI party.
- 47:05Speaker 2: They don't think that Republicans can win in statewide elections
- 47:10Speaker 2: or city wide elections. So they are the masters of
- 47:14Speaker 2: the universe. They think they know everything, and they know
- 47:17Speaker 2: nothing about nothing, as you will learn when we discuss
- 47:22Speaker 2: the how can we be kind to him? The very
- 47:25Speaker 2: eccentric Elon Musk who decided to tweet his way into
- 47:31Speaker 2: New York politics a second time, because remember he had
- 47:33Speaker 2: tweeted to his massive following on x a vo for
- 47:37Speaker 2: SLEI is a voasamandami voa Cuomo. Why wouldn't he He
- 47:42Speaker 2: got a billion dollars from the Buffalo billion and did
- 47:45Speaker 2: nothing up there, a billion dollars to do nothing, and
- 47:48Speaker 2: seven Cuomo cronies went to jail for that cause he
- 47:52Speaker 2: likes Cuomo. But now he's tweeted into something that he
- 47:57Speaker 2: knows nothing about the fire department in New York City.
- 48:01Speaker 2: And you will not have heard this analogy from anybody.
- 48:05Speaker 2: That's why I know where all the bones are buried
- 48:08Speaker 2: and who buried them? Right now on my station, at
- 48:12Speaker 2: the station that I listened to along with Nancy seven
- 48:15Speaker 2: ten woar and it should be yours too. Our numbers
- 48:20Speaker 2: one eight hundred three two one zero seven ten one
- 48:23Speaker 2: eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Curtis leewa guest host for Mark Simone on sevent ten woo.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Well, well Ellen Musk. I'll be kind to him. He's eccentric,
- 48:41Speaker 2: done very well in his businesses, no doubt. But I
- 48:44Speaker 2: predict since our theme today has been Hollywood because of
- 48:52Speaker 2: the story in the Hollywood Reporter about me today, Curtis
- 48:57Speaker 2: Leewo just wants to know where you're from. But we
- 49:02Speaker 2: know where Elon Musk is from. He's from South Africa.
- 49:05Speaker 2: He convinced the President of the United States we was
- 49:09Speaker 2: friends with and he was no longer friends with, and
- 49:11Speaker 2: he was friends with the Afrikaaners are under siege in
- 49:16Speaker 2: South Africa and that they should be the only people
- 49:19Speaker 2: able to come into the United States. Well, number one,
- 49:21Speaker 2: that's wrong. I had Guardian angels in Cape Town. There's
- 49:26Speaker 2: crime everywhere, and the people who are the victims of
- 49:29Speaker 2: the crime of most are Black Africans. In South Africa
- 49:32Speaker 2: will save that for a different thing. But remember it's
- 49:34Speaker 2: a year since those Remember he took out that chainsaw.
- 49:40Speaker 2: He was going to cut all the waste. Well what waste?
- 49:43Speaker 2: He did nothing. We're spending more money than ever before,
- 49:46Speaker 2: thirty eight trillion dollar debt and it's growing. Both parties responsible.
- 49:50Speaker 2: But let's talk about what he decided to do. Yesterday,
- 49:53Speaker 2: somebody had tweeted out there that with zarn Mondami's appointment
- 49:57Speaker 2: of Lilian mon as a brand new fire commissioner, that
- 50:03Speaker 2: people will die. So he knows nothing about this, but
- 50:07Speaker 2: he decides, Hey, I'm going to pimp that ride and
- 50:14Speaker 2: actually millions ended up looking at it on accident. I'm
- 50:17Speaker 2: saying to myself, Hell, I'm ask you, you don't know anything
- 50:20Speaker 2: about the fire department. You have these electric batteries of
- 50:24Speaker 2: you as Tesla batteries. When they go on fire, it
- 50:27Speaker 2: takes hours to put them out. Very difficult, I might add.
- 50:31Speaker 2: But let's deal with the substance of what he said.
- 50:34Speaker 2: And everybody immediately, well, you know, Eric Adams, he had
- 50:37Speaker 2: two fire commissioners, Laura Kavanaugh and Tucker, who were not firefighters.
- 50:45Speaker 2: That is true. I didn't really like either, but You know,
- 50:49Speaker 2: the fire department is a department that can run on
- 50:52Speaker 2: its own. They don't need a fire commissioner. You know
- 50:54Speaker 2: everything there civil service. You work your way up. It's
- 50:58Speaker 2: not as political as the Police Apartment and other agencies.
- 51:01Speaker 2: But let me give you an idea of all the people.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Maybe if somebody can alert Elon Musk all the people
- 51:08Speaker 2: who have served as fire commissioner in New York City
- 51:12Speaker 2: under different mayors. Can we go back to David Dinkins.
- 51:17Speaker 2: That wasn't that Eric Adams favorite mayor? Not Rudy right, David? Okay,
- 51:21Speaker 2: Charlie Hines was the fire commissioner. Charlie Hines. I never
- 51:25Speaker 2: knew Charlie Hines to be a firefighter. He ended up
- 51:28Speaker 2: becoming the King's County DA. Remember he was a special
- 51:32Speaker 2: prosecutor assigned by Mario Cuomo to deal with the Howard
- 51:37Speaker 2: Beach situation. That was a volatile, racially charged situation. Love
- 51:44Speaker 2: that that was Charlie Hines. Was he a firefighter?
- 51:48Speaker 5: No?
- 51:49Speaker 2: Then in the aftermath of nine to eleven, Michael Bloomberg
- 51:54Speaker 2: was elected because we said we needed a businessman. Who
- 51:57Speaker 2: did he appoint to be the fire commissioner? Nickis Scapetta.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Now I had had conversations with Nicholas Scapetta down in
- 52:06Speaker 2: Metro Tech. I would run a stickball contest every year
- 52:09Speaker 2: between the firefighters and the NYPD. Boy. This guy was
- 52:13Speaker 2: quite a stickball player. He had gone to Seward Park
- 52:15Speaker 2: High School. Told me he had lived in an orphanage
- 52:17Speaker 2: for a while. His mother had been put into jail
- 52:21Speaker 2: for stealing welfare checks for a while, speaking about Somalia
- 52:25Speaker 2: and Minnesota, and then when she was released, the family
- 52:28Speaker 2: was brought back together. I think a great guy. He
- 52:31Speaker 2: had served under four different mayors, Department of Investigation, Deputy Mayor.
- 52:37Speaker 2: He served under Rudy Giuliani and put the child welfare
- 52:41Speaker 2: agency back together again and was having problems, and then
- 52:45Speaker 2: Bloomberg made him the fire commissioner. He had never put
- 52:49Speaker 2: out a fire before. You know what, because the guy
- 52:52Speaker 2: who had served before him, Tommy van Essen, was the
- 52:56Speaker 2: ultimate firefighter A. He was the president of the firefighter
- 53:00Speaker 2: his union. Rudy decided to make him his fire department commissioner.
- 53:06Speaker 2: He was the whirling Dutchman again, very good stickball player.
- 53:10Speaker 2: I saw him play from Ozone Park. But the men
- 53:15Speaker 2: and the women hated him because they said he was
- 53:19Speaker 2: responsible for the faulty new digital radios, the broken repeater systems,
- 53:25Speaker 2: the crowded channel congestion, the plague firefighting during the attack
- 53:31Speaker 2: of nine to eleven, and that many of the firefighters
- 53:33Speaker 2: who were up in towers won in towers two had
- 53:37Speaker 2: no radio communication at all with their colleagues, and more
- 53:42Speaker 2: importantly any of the Office of Emergency Management personnel or
- 53:46Speaker 2: the cops. So they hate Tommy Vanessen. Now could you
- 53:50Speaker 2: get any more of a firefighter than Tommy van Essen?
- 53:53Speaker 2: Actually fought fires, was the head of the union, the UFA,
- 53:57Speaker 2: and went on to become the fire commissioner. Wait doesn't
- 54:01Speaker 2: stop there. Who also became fire commissioner under Rudy Howard's safer.
- 54:08Speaker 2: That's one tough jew from the Bronx. He joined the DEA.
- 54:12Speaker 2: He was busting drug dealers. You know, we're talking now.
- 54:15Speaker 2: All of a sudden, Trump wants to go after the
- 54:16Speaker 2: president of Columbia. He's a drug dealer. But he freed
- 54:19Speaker 2: the former president of Honduras who he had in jail
- 54:24Speaker 2: for being a drug dealer. All right, well, we'll talk
- 54:26Speaker 2: about that maybe tomorrow. Howard's Safe for one tough Jew
- 54:31Speaker 2: went on to become the police commissioner after Bill Bratton,
- 54:34Speaker 2: but was first the commissioner of the fire Department in
- 54:38Speaker 2: New York never put out a fire. So do you
- 54:43Speaker 2: think Elon Musk, facing all of this ack Act going
- 54:48Speaker 2: back at him blowback, would pull that tweet and say, hey,
- 54:52Speaker 2: I made a mistake. I should never have waked into
- 54:55Speaker 2: that conversation about who should be the fire commis. By
- 55:00Speaker 2: the way, Lillian Bunsenira thirty one years with the EMS,
- 55:06Speaker 2: they're like add seventy percent of their responses to fire
- 55:10Speaker 2: calls at ems Man, they got one of the toughest
- 55:13Speaker 2: jobs in the city, along with correctional officers. It's like
- 55:16Speaker 2: a perpetual nine to one one call. It can't even
- 55:19Speaker 2: stop to get a cup of coffee. They're racing from
- 55:21Speaker 2: one call to another, many of them emotionally disturbed persons.
- 55:25Speaker 2: Elon Musk, stay in your lane. Another example from Ackman
- 55:29Speaker 2: to Elon Musk, where billionaires the masters of the universe,
- 55:34Speaker 2: talk about things as if there are authorities and they
- 55:37Speaker 2: know nothing about nothing. But do you think Elon Musk
- 55:41Speaker 2: will apologize? Of course he won't. Our numbers one eight
- 55:45Speaker 2: hundred three two, one zero seven ten because they all
- 55:49Speaker 2: think they're omnipotent, all knowing one eight hundred three two
- 55:53Speaker 2: one zero seven ten on this it should be your
- 55:57Speaker 2: place to be from now on as it is for
- 55:59Speaker 2: me and Nan See sevent ten war the Voice of New.
- 56:03Speaker 1: York Curtis Slaywad joined sevent ten WOOR to guest os
- 56:08Speaker 1: from Mark Samore.
- 56:12Speaker 2: Well, well I got some snail mail here. That's good
- 56:17Speaker 2: to see. And right away I went to is he
- 56:19Speaker 2: who was a little dizzy or board operator also escape
- 56:23Speaker 2: eat from WABC, not his place to be? And I say,
- 56:26Speaker 2: is he, We're friends right from our WABC days. Once
- 56:30Speaker 2: you open it up, who knows? You know? I got
- 56:34Speaker 2: many many enemies out there, as many of the listeners know.
- 56:39Speaker 2: Could take me back to like remember two thousand and one,
- 56:42Speaker 2: supposedly some guy in Trenton was selling sending out mail
- 56:48Speaker 2: that had cipro in it, or possibly Sippro not zipro.
- 56:52Speaker 2: Excuse me antras the antrax sports remember you inhale those
- 56:56Speaker 2: that's it. You're dead on a I remember at the
- 57:02Speaker 2: time the Pataki administration decided for he and his staff
- 57:07Speaker 2: to be on the safe side because they were getting
- 57:09Speaker 2: nefarious mail along with people over at the Fox News
- 57:12Speaker 2: Channel and some other places that they would take cipro
- 57:16Speaker 2: as a prophylactic, you know, to prevent it. God forbid
- 57:22Speaker 2: they did Inhale any of those anthrax spores. I said,
- 57:27Speaker 2: is he you know, just you know, for old time sake? No,
- 57:29Speaker 2: it's quite all right, Quite all right, Curtis, friendship only
- 57:35Speaker 2: goes so far, h is he? You weren't going to
- 57:38Speaker 2: touch that, were you? But it does remind me about
- 57:41Speaker 2: George Vataki, the greatest governor we've had in our lifetime,
- 57:47Speaker 2: without a doubt, three terms, no corruption, no chaos, beat
- 57:53Speaker 2: Mario Cuomo, who thought he was on his way possibly
- 57:56Speaker 2: to becoming the first Italian American president of the United States.
- 58:00Speaker 2: And nobody knew who George Battacky was. Nobody knew there
- 58:03Speaker 2: were six Republicans vying to run against Mario Cromo at
- 58:07Speaker 2: that time, seeking a fourth term, and he superseded them.
- 58:12Speaker 2: He had been the mayor of p skill Semimen state senator.
- 58:17Speaker 2: I remember giving a speech for him at the Yale
- 58:19Speaker 2: Club on the day that I got fired in the
- 58:23Speaker 2: morning Angels in the morning with my wife Lisa at
- 58:26Speaker 2: the time. But he had committed to his campaign manager
- 58:28Speaker 2: I would go to the Yale Club speak on his behalf.
- 58:30Speaker 2: There were eight people there, four family members and four
- 58:34Speaker 2: of his Yale graduate friends. That was it, and he
- 58:39Speaker 2: beat Marioconmo and turned out to be our greatest mayor.
- 58:43Speaker 2: He does a great story. The chauffeur knows everything I know.
- 58:48Speaker 2: There's a phone calls of blazing. I'll get to them momentarily.
- 58:51Speaker 2: The chauffeur knows everything. You know. Who was the chauffeur
- 58:54Speaker 2: for Nelson Rockefeller for a while, the world's richest man,
- 58:57Speaker 2: former Governor George Batacki and his job When Nelson Rockefeller
- 59:03Speaker 2: was traveling the state and spending time at a five
- 59:06Speaker 2: star hotel, you know, meeting up with as many gumatas
- 59:11Speaker 2: Jeudge Fortaki had to bring him a bottle of Dubena
- 59:17Speaker 2: and Oreo cookies. The world's richest man at that time
- 59:22Speaker 2: was drinking Dubenat tells you all you need to know.
- 59:26Speaker 2: The chauffeurs know everything. Let's get to the phones. I
- 59:31Speaker 2: don't want to delay any longer. It's Norman who's calling
- 59:34Speaker 2: from Long Island. Your turn to be heard at seven
- 59:37Speaker 2: to ten?
- 59:37Speaker 8: Wor Hi, Curtis, I'm also Canarsie boy. I grew up
- 59:43Speaker 8: in Bayview, and I had some famous people in my class,
- 59:47Speaker 8: like Jim McMillan, the basketball player John Brockington who played
- 59:51Speaker 8: for the Packers.
- 59:53Speaker 5: But I have I have.
- 59:54Speaker 8: Two questions for you. One question, do you think we
- 59:57Speaker 8: can somehow where the Republicans can get find Alista Flonic
- 1:00:01Speaker 8: to run for Senate against Schuma?
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Uh? First off, you would think so. Now you had
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: mentioned McMillan went to Columbia, but he went to Jefferson first,
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: right in Pennsylvania Avenue. Along with Right.
- 1:00:13Speaker 8: I had him in my class in Jefferson. He was
- 1:00:15Speaker 8: in my chemistry class.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Right. And then then you mentioned the great running back
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: John Brockington, Well, I think went on to uh run right,
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: went to Green Bay Green Bay Packers, and you failed
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: to mention they're great. Coach Moe Finkelstein, Oh yeah, Mo,
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: I had Bo.
- 1:00:34Speaker 8: He's my health teacher. He used to walk around. You
- 1:00:38Speaker 8: had to buy tickets for the football game every week.
- 1:00:41Speaker 8: I mean we didn't learn any health there. We used
- 1:00:44Speaker 8: to watch the films from the games.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: What they used to have was the game of the
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: week will be on Channel eleven. High school, whether it
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: was PSA, L or CHSL And Jefferson was a powerhouse then,
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: so they on a lot. You know who the broadcaster was,
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Marty Klickman, who was broadcasting New York Giant football games.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Marty Klickman. And do you know who was on the sidelines?
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: Who is the reporter on the sidelines? Not the way
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: they do it now, some drop dead gorgeous woman that
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: they go to, you know during the breaks, Elston Howard
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: who had been the catcher MVP for the New York Yankees.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: This is what you used to get high school football
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: broadcasts on Channel eleven Saturday mornings, and you'd always see
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: Mo Finkelstein. You'd see all the said Marty clickman, Mo,
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: tell us, how did you beat boys and girls high
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: this week? Tell us? And Mo would go on and
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: on and on. Boy, those are great memories. But I
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: know that's not why you were called.
- 1:01:49Speaker 8: Football was king with Mo.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: That's for sure. All the memories. By the way, who
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: was the other famous alumni of the projects, so with
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: two others. One went on not to own but to
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: run Starbucks three times three times? And I have no
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: love for this guy. I'll share that with you momentarily.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: And another great NBA ball player. I went to Canarsie
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: High school went on to success with the Detroit Pistons
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: and the LA Lakers and became quite a broadcaster and
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: handle the sports talk show. A little bit of trivia
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: here one eight hundred and three to two one zero
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: seven ten. Let's go if we can to Mike, who
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: I believe is calling from Long Island, your turn to
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: be heard here at seven ten wor Mikey.
- 1:02:49Speaker 6: Hike Curtis.
- 1:02:50Speaker 8: I'm glad to hear you back on the radio. I
- 1:02:54Speaker 8: want to weigh in on the new fire commissioner.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: Now, can you speak up a bit, Mikey, speak up
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: a bit.
- 1:03:00Speaker 8: I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:02Speaker 8: Kavanaugh on the Adams was the first DEI commissioner. She
- 1:03:06Speaker 8: couldn't handle the job, so they had that retired chief.
- 1:03:09Speaker 8: I shall come back to run things now. I know
- 1:03:13Speaker 8: the same thing is gonna happen with this thing that
- 1:03:15Speaker 8: he's gonna put I mean, listen, I don't know. Hopefully
- 1:03:17Speaker 8: she'll be good, but if not, I hope defied. It's
- 1:03:22Speaker 8: active and retired elicited to me. Do not step up
- 1:03:27Speaker 8: to run the department for this guy. Mendanny. If he
- 1:03:30Speaker 8: wants this to be the commissioner, let him do it now.
- 1:03:35Speaker 8: Let her run it well, whatever it is, But you
- 1:03:38Speaker 8: named those other commissioners, but they had they were credible
- 1:03:41Speaker 8: administrators who hold.
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: On the incredible administrators. But again, what did Ellen Musk
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: tweet out as a result of Lillian bon Signori being
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: a signed fire commissioner by Johan Mandami thirty one years
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: EMS people will yet I just went to a litany
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: of former fire commissioners who served under Dinkins, Giuliani, Bloomberg,
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: and none of them had ever even put out a
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: waste paper basket, but they were good administrators. Well is
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: that what makes say fire commissioner? And by the way,
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: the fire department can run on itself. Again, it's civil
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: service to the highest level. The political appointment is the
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: fire commissioner. But I will tell you this, she deserves
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: an opportunity. And again I speak on behalf of EMS
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: workers that I know work real hard constant calls. They
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: don't have enough personnel. They only make about thirty five
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: thousand to start, They don't have pay parody with the
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: other uniform services who started about fifty two thousand. They
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: have to deal with everybody that nobody else wants to
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: deal with to take to the hospital. Many of them
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: don't want to go to the hospital, and they fight
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: them in the back of the wagon. How do I know,
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: Iron Guardian angels have had to go in there and
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: help the EMS people who immediately have to fight with somebody.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: They just put an IV into their arm and as
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: soon as they drop that patient off, they're running to
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: another nine to one. But oh no, Elon Muska, he's
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: an expert, right, He's gonna turn out to be the
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Howard Hughes of our generation. Watch. Very successful in business,
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: but very eccentric.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: Two the Beret is Batch Curtis leewa guest host The
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: Mark Simone Show on seven to ten.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: Woo. And as we approach the starting the new year,
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: the dropping of the ball in Times Square, I've met
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: many people from Mexico City to Montreal to Lagos, Nigeria
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: who were here to watch. If you're from New York,
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: you're really gonna be down there in the manners, of
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: course not. We'll talk about that as we get closer
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: to the end of the week. But I want to
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: give a shout out because so often we in talk
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: radio are negative about political figures and what they promised
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: to do and don't do. I gotta give a shout
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: out to Vinnie Ignizio. Now some of you might know
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: him in Staten Island. He was the assemblyman, he was
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: city council member. And in the election of twenty twenty one,
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: I remember when I was going to vote. Remember I
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: had that little kit in my hand, Gizmo, who Nancy
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: had rescued from the shelter like she's rescued dozens of
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: others who would have been euthanized. And Gizmo became the
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: most famous cat in the world. It was featured on
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: Stephen Colbert went viral. They made fun of me, but
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: Gizmo became a star. Remember they wouldn't let me take
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: Gizmo in to vote. But when I did go in
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: to vote, when Nancy writing me a brand High school
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: on the Upper West Side, the machine was not working,
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: the scanning machine, so they had to call with the
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: call a engineer on call. The engineer showed up like
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: a half hour later, and instead of adjusting things so
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: that it could accept my ballot, remember the ballot had
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: to be filled out on both sides. The engineer in
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: front of all the TV cameras that were there to
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: record my vote. Karate chopped the machine. The director of
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: the Board of Elections said, man, you can't do that.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: And that's when Vinnie Ignizio was hired as the deputy
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: executive director of the Board of Elections and said to me, oh,
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: we're going to reform things from these missteps, and he
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: delivered on that promise. Do you realize we just went
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: to an election cycle where there were two million, one
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: hundred thousand votes casts. There haven't been that many votes
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: casts since nineteen sixty five, the election to John Lindsay
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: and no problems. And I haven't heard anybody out there,
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: not in the media or anyone else praise those people
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: I've been at odds with it before who did an
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: absolutely outstanding job to process that vote. So my breve's
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: off to Vintie Ignisio and everyone who was involved in
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: that long election process to determine who the next mayor
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: of the City of New York was. Any other down
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: ballot votes that you made
