Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: time for the 49ers rush podcast.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: and here's your host, John Chapman.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: Oh baby, how are we doing faithful?
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: We have preseason football, butt kicking?
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like the 49ers destroyed the chargers.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna go over, I've got a ridiculous amount of notes, but the overall assessment is this.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it is a preseason game.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: I understand that.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: but when you absolutely destroy an opponent through four quarters, all three phases, second string, some first string, second string, third string backups across all fields, run game, pass game, turnovers, kick off, run return, punt, like, fill goal, extra point, like, there was not an area that the 49ers did not dominate, third downs, pressure, run, like,
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: absolute decimation now that the charges are very very good team.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, Herbert was out there, you know, to start the game, whatever else, like whatever.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers did everything that they needed to do and more.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: And they accomplished that in this game.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: Now there are some injuries.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about that.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: There are negatives, but from the vantage point of just how a preseason football game can go.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: And what you can celebrate learn game from that, you check just about damn near every box.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: You need to play makers, you need solid run game, you need it past rush, check, check, check, check, check.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: All those days came across.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: So excited to get to your point.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: So make sure you throw those in the chat.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate all the Countdown crew.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: This is a milestone, ladies and gentlemen.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: This is episode,
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: 1700 of the 49ers rush podcast 1,700 shows unbelievable in year 10 our executive producers Cory Robbins David Gill 49ers George 365 Thank you guys so much for making that happen I pump to be here with y'all.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: I am freaking stoked how crazy is this man?
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we got Spotify listeners in here.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I love.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: entries let's lead let's not lead but let's get these out of the way right so that we could focus on so many positives because they're there.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: Renardo Green left for the hamstring he got toasted deep by the rookie and they both wound up in the medical tent the rookie wide receiver for Mississippi state, I believe.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Renardo Green left the hamstring played really, really well.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: Got beat deep, could out of phase completely caught up.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: It was still low over throwing ball.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: So it was in complete lead to a pump play.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't see agent zero out there again.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: And it was funny because they're like, oh, he's questionable.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I put in there.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, it's hamstring.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_01]: You turn on those jets chasing down a four to wide receiver.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, oh, man, and we know the saying hamstring a day.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's the 49ers way.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: It just what it is.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I wish the saying as cheesy as it is would have been true.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: Because sadly, there was another hamstring Nick Martin who I thought played very, very well, much better than
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: his first performance, the violence, special teams, closing speed, making faster reads, faster judgment, still needs reps. And I think it was smart to play him a lot.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: But man, this hamstring took place in the fourth quarter.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: He was a starter with four minutes left.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the flip side of that is, well, Nick born, you gotta be able to play a whole freaking game.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: The other side is to get them out.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: You got to play football, he needs reps. Now, the hamstring injury, man, that line back a room, I'm gonna be very, very honest, that line back a room is stacked.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: Injuries, I don't think Nick Martin's on cut watch, but good Lord, you start looking at Tate on Betton, back to back, bad ass, weeks, Garrett, Wallo, awesome, Jaden Dugger's safe, as safe as can be.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: how do you keep six linebackers whenever one of them might be injured.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: So it will see how that goes with Nick Martin.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think just the special teams, what he brings there, makes him safe.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: Larry worth was kind of the outside guy looking in, made some good plays.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: not it made some bad places well so like I don't think there's enough to say like all right you can move on from Nick Martin and even those that are like oh well trade Nick Martin you don't trade interplayers you don't trade interplayers like that does not happen in the NFL really ever so that you kind of got to put to bed and then Austin pleasant you know he he playing left tackle he gets kicked into left guard
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: was awful that guard was horrible that guard.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: And then his knee looked like a really bad knee injury too.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm kind of worried about that.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll have to see how that goes.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: But those are the big three, right?
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: So Ronaldo Green Hamstring, Martin Hamstring, Austin Pleasant's knee, awesome Pleasant trying to just fight his way.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: on to the roster somewhere.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: And let's go with the biggest play that day.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: Jason Cowan spots solidified question mark.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: The answer is yes.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if you've listened to the 49er's rush podcast throughout trading camp, you have heard me talk about Cowan making plays
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: that I think and have thought Jacob Cowan is going to make this tea.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: I have stood by it now.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: I understand he has it done near enough and got entered again with the hip flexor.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: But I kept saying like I think he's making the same I think he's going to be the punt returner.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's had a full year as the 49ers full-time punt returner never led to one turn over.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: That matters, that carries weight.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: Goes out there 83 yard punt return to the house.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: I know it's pre-season, very first, very first, very first point return of 15 seasons.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: All the way back to 2011, that's saying that's 15 years ago, makes me kind of sit in the stomach.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: But it's been that long, it has been that 2026, 15, carry the one.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you carry it in subtraction, maybe you do.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob Cowain is making the damn roster.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: I believe that before this game and I sure as hell believe it now, I don't think it's really really close.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't, now with that play.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a lock, it's just a lock.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: And he even had good kickoff returns.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, made some mistakes out there as wide receivers, not like he's picture perfect, but the upside.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: And you see him just running away from all these players.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're punner, kind of quit on the play, love all that stuff.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: But I asked this question and like, man, who do you cut?
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: out of these three.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: I put this up on Twitter.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's an instant reaction poll.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: There's been a little over 700 votes.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's only been up for like an hour.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: But if you had to cut one of the following the three wide receivers, right?
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob Cowell and Jordan Walkins Christian Kirk, what's one do you cut?
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: Chris Kirk has it finished one practice, not OTAs, not training Kent, not preseason.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: He led this one and I agree.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: I would cut Christian Kirk 76%.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Walkin' second with 16%, I'm not a Jordan Walkins guy.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he offers anything in the return game whatsoever.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: He is terrible at puttin' attorneys, terrible.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: I kick off return, he barely got to the 20.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Missed some major blocks again, but I will say there was a concerted effort by Jordan Walkins in the first quarter to actually try and block in the run game.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was sincere McCormick with like his big run.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: Jorda Walker's man, huge block to a spree, like just free that.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's huge.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: Now, still not good and we'll wait till we get to the tape on the whole thing.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: They have to drop touchdown, but then he caught a touchdown later.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: And then Jacob County got seven percent.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: So Jorda Walker's cut him 60 percent, 16 percent, Christian Kirk, 76 percent.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: I would follow this metric a little bit.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob Cowling's safe in my mind, and I know somebody's like, man, one play in the preseason, it's not that.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: The eye test shows you.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: They throw a little screen past to him.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: He makes one miss quick.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: get some extra yards, he's not perfect.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not like a cowing believer, but I'm a cowing believer, whatever you look at this roster that needs a punt return kick return.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Debo got his first couple reps at punt return, didn't look good.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: Let one of the points hit the ground.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: It definitely should have filled with that one, but fair catch it is funny, because I'm watching the broadcast and like, oh, smart choice by Debo, and I was like, dude, special team coach got to be pissed off that he let that hit the ground right there.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: At the 20, you don't let a ball hit the,
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: It grouted the 20 on a pun, and you kidding me, but the idea was, yeah, maybe Depot will be the part returner, and like that's cool if if he has the electric capillate all those things, but now if counting who I think should be the part returner.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Debo gets to focus on kickoff return.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: My two returners would be Jacob Cowan and Debo, Samuel, those are my two kick returners.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to throw Caitlin Black or if you want to throw Jordan James back there, I'm cool with that as well.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: But the putter returner is Jacob Cowan, then Debo.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's what it should be.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, in my opinion, I think it's safe for Jacob Cowan.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Walk is I would not call safe.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: There are still way too many holes in this game.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's just too soft of a player, but I think he is in as of now.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: If Christian Kirk comes back and practices, that's a different story.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: And so like if you get a couple weeks, you got two weeks now till cut down date.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: Man, about 10 days till cut down date to be honest with you.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, not even.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's got to practice before then or he's not making it.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: And so if he doesn't, then I'm like, all right, yep.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the way that it's looking.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob Cowings in.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care what anybody says.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: Now, let me just say this, like every single year, one of my favorite things we do, we do a zoom hanging out where we go through and we predict the 53 man roster series.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: This is already posted at the 49ers rush.com and it's posted on our Patreon page.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: So we have a zoom hanging out Saturday.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: at 2 p.m.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: They bumped up the cut day used to be on Tuesdays.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's on Sundays.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: So we have to do our zoom hang out before.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: So Saturday 2 p.m. Pacific time.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're doing our Jerry Rice tier zoom hang out.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be an absolute blast.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: If you've never participated in one of these, it's fun to sell.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: So come out join us and if you, you know, if you're nervous, you don't want to turn your camera on or whatever else or your house is dirty, man, keep your camera off, turn your audio off and just watch it, hang out with us, learn about the community, make sure you feel comfortable, but if you're looking for a group.

- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: But if you want to go check it out.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: that is going to be up starting tomorrow.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now I do have to do this.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: My cousin who's in the Air Force.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's a pilot.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's awesome.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be in town for like six hours.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: Tomorrow is going to lay over in the area.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: So my my video breakdowns might not be out.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: super soon tomorrow.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm hoping to get one done depends on when the NFL releases the tape.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to set my alarm early and I just have to keep refreshing till the tape loads.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: Once the tape loads breakdowns will happen, we'll have a show tomorrow at some point.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: Stay tuned for that.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: But give me a little grace.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't get to see my cousin very often.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's like one of the few family members that.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: isn't in jail.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: So I got to take advantage of that.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's cool dude.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, that's going to be taking place tomorrow.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: So sign up 49ers rush.com, check it out, check it out, check it out, check it out.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'll look at this Kimbro in the chat.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate the super chat my friend.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of positives.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: While I look good, Jack Jones was amazing, dribbling.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know, in the regular season when they do wins, we do kind of like game balls or MVP conversation.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, those three are off the charts.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: It will just go in order.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: Garrett Wallow, he row of the playoff game defensively against Billy, set them home packet.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: Been on the team for like two weeks.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: Do just does everything.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: First preseason game he plays Will, then Sam, this game he plays Mike flashes everywhere.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: pretty good in his own drops, man coverage is a problem.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: He got toasted on a wheel route.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I don't think it was a rail route, not a wheel route, but uh, penalty.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: It got called back, but man, the way wall of feels the B gap to the play side.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's, like, it's violent.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: You can't move off of guys like that.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: And Garrett Wallow is kind of the epitome.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: Whenever you look at the roster last year for the 49ers first this year.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's nine day difference because you have quality depth across a lot of positions.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Jones encompasses that as well.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: Renardo Green goes down.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: Your cornerback four is Jack Jones.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: Who is it?
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: Two years starter.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: Two years starter goes out there.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: Moxie out the wazoo, almost got an interception.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: Ball skills are incredible.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Jones would be a cornerback three on a lot of teams.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: He'd be a cornerback two on a few teams for us.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers, he's quarterback four.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: But if Ronaldo misses time and Jack Jones has to start week one, not overly concerned.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're going to love and hate Jack Jones because he will get penalties.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's a grabby grabby corner.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: He will tackle white receivers on routes.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: But he's going to lead to interceptions and turnovers.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like he is a moxie moxie moxie tight player.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Jones, man, the depth at that corner back room.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: I thought was great.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Jones, like I have the utmost confidence in him as a starter.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: It has been a long time since the 40 years have had corner back depth like this.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: And then the Sean Strive, like, come on, man.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's the real deal was he perfect, no drop to touch down.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: Him and Jordan walk into drop, not one, but two.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: Matt Jones touched on the out of you guys watching the broadcast.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: Matt Jones was pissed.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't want to talk to anybody on sidelines.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: Pulling his helmet off, cussing to himself.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: He was red hot.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: Got to catch the day of ball.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the difference is just Sean scribbling just passes every eye test.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: They pulled him right after the second series.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: Not quite brought pretty treatment, right?
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: But he's getting cold to McKinvits treatment.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: And you just go play two series then you're out.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: It says a lot about the confidence that they have it.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: And four catches, 46 yards for the Sean Stubbling on five targets.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: Nice come back route catch from Perti, just posting up on players using his body.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's awesome.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: Slant route elite separation.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: Dude had three first down, three, third down conversions for first.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: And the only play two series.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: Only play two series.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I understand because he's a big body wide receiver that wears 15 that converts third down.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: I understand why people say, oh, it's new Joanne Jennings, like I get it.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: I understand those, those days are simple.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: Let me say this very clearly.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Joanne Jennings has a wonderful NFL career, and I hope that he keeps playing.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: It is awesome what he has accomplished.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: To Sean Stribley's talent, does not allow those two to be compared.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that is a flawed argument.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: He is nothing like Joanne Jennings, because he plays multiple positions at the wide receiver spot and stretches the field vertically.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: If they had a foot race, you could start to John Jennings at the 32 yard line.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: You start to John Stiblin at the 40 yard line.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: And guess what?
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: To Sean's gonna win.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: They are not the same.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: They are not comparable.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: They are physical.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: They are big.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: That is the end of the comparison.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: They were the same number.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: That is the end of the comparison.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: Completely different players, one with an elite ceiling, high end, speed, good lore.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if thank you, fish, right there, man, right there.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: And so we're just gonna keep cruising through these.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: If you got comments, don't'm up in there, but so many damn pauses.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so thank you, Suwa.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: That dude, look like he was planning it.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like, do you ever have like the like the dream like, man, dude, I wish I could go back, if like could you match it if we play football against like middle schoolers or whatever else?
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's what it looked like with Oso de Izuma.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: Look like he was out there against middle school kids.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's like he did not belong the amount of pressure in the speed that he just shot through the A-gap and B-gap every single play he was out there.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, the 49er's have not had a defensive tackle that look like that in a very long time, a very long time.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: Osa Odigizu, whoo!
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: Oh boy!
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I'm pretty excited about that one, man.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: Ain't gonna, yeah, right there.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Steve, yeah, Osa was the backfield that will.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: It was incredible just see I was like, who the hell was that?
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: It was like a blur, the broadcast film, you know, moves with the past and I was just like, whoa, oh, go back, go back, go back.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so like, a little people behind the curtain here.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: Whenever I'm at home, I have multiple, I have the game on at three different time periods, right?
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: So I offset by 10 seconds.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I watch the play, then I watch the play again, then I watch the play again.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: So like I'm trying to watch the play three times, like,
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: in standard time and so like I'll watch the play and I usually like pick a play on the outside.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: I usually don't focus on interior guards, centers, defensive tackles ever on the broadcast state.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's just a mesh mess from where the angle is on the broadcast state.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: I always wait to evaluate players once you get that inzone coaches state.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: Behind the the quarterback or behind the safety, you just get to see everything.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: So when I'm watching game tape or even wherever I sit on the stance like I try to sit Closes to where the cameras that filled the game are because that's the best angle because you can see everything But again, whenever I'm there, I don't really pay attention to the center guards defensive tackles unless something stands out and something jumps out That's never my pre-snap go to
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: But on the second or third, rewatch, right, first one, then second one, second, second, second, second, third one, second, second, second, second, later.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: If a player flashes, then I'll try to glance inside and I get mad because it's always a mess.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: Also, you can't help it.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: You just can't help it.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: The dude just jumps off the tape.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: it's it's incredible.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's incredible.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, right here, Kate and, you know, AC 95 didn't look great.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: I was it again, I was at highlighting Collins because I'm waiting on the other tape.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: The few plays I saw didn't look bad.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't see any, you know, major snap-oos like we've seen in the past.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: Stop the run whenever he was in there pretty damn consistently that's his job.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to look good in past research.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: I did see a good hustle play out in the flats, but we'll wait.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: We'll Alfred Collins step up again coming off to show their surgery.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: This is how he looked last year.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to wait.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to wait.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to let him get to snaps coming back from that injury.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: I wish it wasn't that way, but that's just what it is.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's what it is now.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, left guard is not certain.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: it's it's really really not that that's the major issue.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: Carver will us got the start.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: Then you saw us in pleasants.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: He gets injured.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: They put Carver will us back in the third.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: Then they shift over Connor Colby who started at right guard back to left guard in the fourth quarter.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I don't watch a lot of the interior during the game day broadcast, but not a lot of major negatives outside of Austin Pleasant.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: He was horrible.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: Never play him at guard again, we have to see what his injuries look like with his knee, but like, yeah, that guard process for him.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: not bro.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's just not a thing.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: You can't put him there.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like he was so bad.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: Even the pick six play was his fault.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: It was just like four plays a row, just some of the worst guard.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: He now also plus it's still better than Robert Jones who didn't dress today.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: I said,
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: After watching the game tape, I wouldn't be shocked if Robert Jones retired.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't dress today.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what the situation is.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he's injured, but left guard still majorly concerned.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the few plays that I did watch, you know, inside, not a lot.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: Carver Willis and Connor Colby did not look bad.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: I still think it's a major concern.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what the answer is, but it's going to be between Carver Willis and Connor Colby.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what that is, still a whole another game coming, but again, hold those interior offensive line takes till we watch the tape.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: And once I watch the tape, I'll watch them every single play.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'll come back and tell you, consistent, good, bad, all that stuff, and that's why the coaches always say, yeah, we're going to have to wait until we see the tape.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're going to have to wait until we see the tape.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: With the broadcast for you, try to measure guards the defense of tackles and centers.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: man being on the sidelines.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's even worse.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like from a coaching standpoint, it's difficult.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's why she had it.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: It stands all the way down on the other side.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: But if you're a old line coach, you can't because you've got to sub those line men in.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: So you've got to be next to the ball to shorten the distance so they could run in.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: It makes it harder.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: It really, really does.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: Be fish.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: Love seeing K-Lon plaques vision and strength hitting those hosts.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: We said it when he was drafted.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't like to pick didn't even have a draftable grade on them.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's on us.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: He has looked apart.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_01]: He is the first.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to break the mold.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's the chosen one of all the third round running backs that Kyle Shetty and his picked.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: Katelyn Black is Neil.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: Look good out there.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: The most impressive thing for me with Katelyn Black.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: was the pass protection.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: One play in particular, there was a blitz, and man, he came up and filled in that BGAP eight grass, which is important, methamathaline scrimmage and didn't give up ground after that.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: That is huge.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: And now he had a couple good pass protection reps. That's gonna help the rookie C play time.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_01]: Still haven't seen any of the receiving to that.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: They split them out in a empty set, they motioned them out one time.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, ooh, watch the route was a very, very good.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: But if you can pass protect and keep Brock party up right, that's going to give you an opportunity to stay in on three downs, which is huge.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: So I love that.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: He had eight Russian attempts for 33 yards, four yards per average, 4.1, nothing that's like, oh, this is amazing or electric.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_01]: But sometimes the eye test is enough and whenever you're watching.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: All these running backs and see your McCormick Patrick Taylor Jr. who got placed on IR, which I hate, you bring back Khalil Herbert who you cut, then, you know, now gets a place to mirror white.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: There's just something different, and I think they all played well, by the way, since here look great.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: I thought, see, mirror white look great.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like hayland plaques just looks the part.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's playing in mostly against twos, but man, nice five yard run against, you know, no wasted movements, one cut runner, not wasting time falling forward.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: And there was one run, probably my favorite run of hayland plaques, which was like a half yard gain, probably should've been a tackle for loss.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: The power in which he runs, he's a small back, but dude is jacked.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the things eliminating the negatives.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: You hear me say it all the time, I want consistency.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: You're the 49ers, coach of say it.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: We want consistency.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: Kaelyn Black looks to show that.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't see negatives.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: I did not see one negative play.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: Probably played about 15 snaps, maybe a little more.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: What we'll get through the tape, we'll see what the holes look like, all that stuff, the decisions.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: But man, nice third and one run to get the first down.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: The past pro pickup though.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: That is the thing that I love.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: Look at the fill in the house.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: Katelyn Black, my draft crush, go kid, go, I love it.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: I love it, I love it.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: That is awesome.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: Now, let me just say this.

- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: Look at this, Phillip.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: He said, literally said, Neo, as soon as he started breaking some runs, like that is awesome.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's the inside jokes that we got going on.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: That is always fun.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_01]: So let's go through, man, I have so many notes.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: We've got to dive into some of these.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, look at this, Phil.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate the super chat, my man.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: Off topic, good to see trail ants for team himself as the decent quarterback, too.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's getting paid.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_01]: Good quarterback to money.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: I love that great kid had those runs still can't operate efficient offense down, you know, the field.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of his issue.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: But man, he is athletic.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: He is a hard worker.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's a good kid.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_01]: He is a, he's in a good spot with hardball.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think he said a good spot.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_01]: It was cool.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_01]: See, you know, yeah, you know, you get back to those memories.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just like man,
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: trailians.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's what it was.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: So let's go through some of these players.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: Ramello Heights got to start at defense event.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: Man, had an awesome tackle for loss on the inside stunt and like I don't want to back up from the player perspective right now and talk about the defensive coordinator.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: Rahim Morris was putting the players in a place of advantage consistently.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: And my coaching meetings all the time with like my staff and whenever I was under like the whole idea is I would say we have to give our players an advantage because where their coaches and not the other guys if we're not doing that we're not doing our damn job as coaches.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_01]: Rahim Morris was scheming the hell out of Mike Medanio.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: And this is what I said now, it's pre-season, whatever.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_01]: Take this by the wayside.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: And I talked about this with Larry on Wednesday night.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: I said this many times.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: The difference between Robert Sala and Rahim Morris is Rahim Morris can outskim top tier play colors.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: Robbers solid never has done that.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_01]: Robbers solid simple.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to win with talent.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to win by not giving up the big play that is not what he more does and so you're slanting your manufacturing pressure you're doing zone fire blitz is fire zone blitz is definitely dyslexic like you're bringing five man pressure you're rolling coverage is you're doing all these things.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: and it worked really really well from the start.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: The first two drives defensively were a tackle for loss by Jayden Tugger on the very first play of the game.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: And then the second drive was a tackle for loss by Ramello High on the inside stunt play.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: Putting players in an advantage position, getting the opposing offense behind the chains.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: Now you're at second to 12, nobody wants to be at second to 12 by the way.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_01]: And then you're getting off the field.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: They could not convert on third downs because they were so far behind the chains consistently, really, and shout out to the broadcast spotlighting Jerry Gray going through that little history spell in the 1980s, if I draft love that by the way, hooking baby, but like the defensive coaches,
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: doing a job to make these young books, have the answers to the test.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: And if they don't, you sure as hell cheated them up enough so that they looked good.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, man.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was freaking awesome, man.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I loved, absolutely loved.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: What, you know, where he Morris was able to cook up.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: Ramelahite didn't really play a lot, but flash, jaded dugger,
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: me and he had some really good plays.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_01]: He had some really tackle for loss start the game and then there was a will route by a tight end that was spread out.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: You did a quick out and then fade up and jaded Doug was out of phase.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's so the idea is phase in phase out.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: There's two different coverages for corners, backers, safeties, whatever.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: If you could touch the hip and man coverage, then you turn around and play the ball.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's just what you do.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if you can't, then you sprint your ass to the guy till you get there.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_01]: Once you touch his hit, then you turn around and play the ball.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's the idea.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's out of face, meaning he's a couple steps behind.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: So what you've got to do is just hot-tell it, Johnny on the hot spot, get there before the ball gets there.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you're talking about.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't get some past breakup.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: It was perfect out of face technique
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's huge.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: And then there was one part where he was correcting Jacob Robertson pre-snap because he was lying up wrong.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I do think Jacob Robertson played very, very well.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: Right here from BTW, Robinson over Looter.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: Looter, it didn't look bad again.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's so good for a serrun.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: And they don't even play the same spot.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Robinson plays outside and nickel.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: But this year, he's played predominantly inside and nickel.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: Dorel Lutter just plays outside corner.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think the conversation is this player of that player.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're kind of two different spots, but Robinson has played some outside.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob Robinson was the lowest graded player against the rut in the preseason last, not for the 40 hours for the entire NFL.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: He had just too small missed too many tackles to this kid,
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: And he's worked his way up, added some more weight, and it shows, got a tackle for loss for your next play against a pass break up.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: Not perfect tape.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's making the 53.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think Doreal Looter's making the 53 either to be honest.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: Well, if Nate Hobbs don't come back and start practicing, he's kind of in that Christian Kirk territory.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't see Robinson making the 53.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: I do see Robinson making the practice squad.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: Derell Looter, very good on special teams, A plus against the run, got a lot of quality snaps last year, built up confidence.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's on the outside looking in right now, but I wouldn't be shocked if he made the 53 years way more pedigree.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's the last year of his rookie contract.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_01]: You don't really get anything besides the spot by cutting them.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_01]: I might be,
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: Now, price sock Ephesians, bad ass name.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's funny.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, what do you go with Ephesians in my wife's like, send their play on her phone?
- 34:20[SPEAKER_01]: She goes, somebody's names Ephesians.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Ephesians price sock, of course.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_01]: Who could forget Ephesians price sock?
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: He had an up and down game made and back to back weeks with the past break up gave up outside contain not once but twice on some big runs probably to the biggest runs of the day for the chargers both against 35 made some awesome plays on special teams it's just so inconsistent but the upside like he's making the roster.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: But it's like, this guy, like if you needed a corner to play now, I would prefer to rail looter.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: I would prefer probably even Jacob Robinson, but long term, and that's what Ephesians Christophe was, this is a long term investment.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: This is what can he become?
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that he's there now.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah,
- 35:15[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, uh, Phil John admit it.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: You were all I was so behind Lance like I yeah, I was Dude, yeah, we bet so big that the pick was going to be Lance.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: I bought a car with that with our best
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: I was all in on it, but yeah, anyway, do with that what you will.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, D-Rub, back to him, he's making it, he started tonight in three wide receiver sets.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: It was D-Bo, dribbling, and to Marcus Robinson, those were your three.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I think the starting three wide receivers for the 49ers, talking about dribbling, getting, you know, starter treatment,
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: Those are your three white outs to start week one, barring no injuries to Marcus Robinson's year four, right?
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: He could play all three spots.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: You've got Cowling who can step in and do whatever and then if you keep Jordan Walkins, he could back up the X roll because that's pretty much all he plays.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that's kind of the wide receiver room.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: whatever you look at it.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: The rook of Ephesians.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_01]: I like that, Jolly.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm very, very nice.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_01]: Striples and bits of dude.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: You guys, we got some good names going on in here.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Luke Feral kind of continues to just do Luke Feral things, drop pass, third down contested catch.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like you keep hearing all these positives about Luke Feral.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I've seen it with my own eyes at practice.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_01]: Improved Improved Improved Improved, but then you get to the game and it's like, man, it's the same, just yikes.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_01]: Now, more positive reports out on George kiddo.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's really anything new.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: Just resurface old reports saying there's a possibility to play week one.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to say, again, I'm saying he's got to play week three, which is way up from I was saying middle October, Halloween.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm like, I think week three he'll be out there.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_01]: George kiddo plays week three.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: That is huge win.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_01]: that is a huge win.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: Now, one of the things I did not predict.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: He says, do you think crimes will make this team if they take seven receivers?
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: No, crimes got like no playing time and whatever he did get in.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: They were just running the ball to, you know, kind of whine the clock down and whatever else.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: Grimes has not been afforded any opportunities as a returner.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: Will Pauling got more chances continues to show he's not it did have one decent
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: Grimes I really like, but they're not giving them an opportunity, maybe one of those guys will be a practice squad.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe both.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe both, but I think it's, I don't think it's there.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really don't.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: So kind of do with that, what you will now scrolling down a couple other things that I thought were kind of cool and not cool and wreak a cruise.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_01]: And they did this whole spotlight on them, which I thought was like, awesome, man.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_01]: It was like, yeah, look at giving the rookie his flowers and highlight them.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: The next two plays, he gets blown up into the quarterback.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: The next two plays in Rikai Cruz, Jr. Just gets destroyed into the quarterback, which we saw a lot last time.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, it's hard, that's hard.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_01]: So, Enrique Cruz, I think he's cutable.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: I really don't think we're gonna really see, man, it's hard to cut a fifth round pick.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: I just cannot, I don't think they keep them.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's technique is so bad.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I've see it other people talk about, put them at guard, like, I don't know, man.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: You draft a guy with those traits, and he can't anchor out there at the tackle spot.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: What makes you think he's going to anchor at the guard spot?
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: And he saw it with Austin Pleasants and Carver Willis having a hard time with the two.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and shoot.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: Adrian Martinez, the most frustrated I got with Adrian Martinez is his fourth and goal.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: And you throw the ball out of the in zone.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_01]: That is like murder's row.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: Now, there was a penalty.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_01]: They got, you know, first didn't go and they scored all that possession, but like, it's fourth and go and you throw the ball out of the end zone.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like, ah, not that just shows lack of football like you.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: It just scared.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that is not, I do in that, like,
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, the turnover is putting the ball on jeopardy, the pick six, not snapping the ball on time.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_01]: That was Jordan Walkins fault.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and that's the thing with Jordan Walkins and Jacob County.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_01]: It consistent.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_01]: There was one drive where Jordan Walkins misses this block leads to a TFL.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: Now, it's third down.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: They run a slant to Jacob County ball hits of the Jesse drops it.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like their approach is so inconsistent.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: So why do I like Jacob County so much more
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: Cowin can be the punt returner, Cowin can be a kickoff returner.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_01]: Walkets cannot do those things.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he gets reps there, he sucks there.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_01]: Two games in a row, absolutely nothing.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_01]: Now, walkets cannot block, he blocks some of this game.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_01]: Cowin can't block either.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's an issue, that is an issue.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: But you can't have an X that doesn't block.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like that,
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't happen to the NFL, like because you're playing against your bigger corners, that's an issue, too.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_01]: I saw somebody say that, let's see if I can find the, yeah, here we go.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, newer acts.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_01]: He says John puts too much stock at wide receiver blocking.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_01]: That is true.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: I completely agree with that.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: One point returned for a touchdown isn't more valuable than a touchdown.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: It is way more valuable.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it is.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: Special teams touchdowns worth way more because that is an entire drive in and of itself.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: That you don't have to do.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, special teams touchdowns worth way more, not on the scoreboard, obviously.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, there's been one point return for the 49ers for a touchdown in 15 seasons.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_01]: way more stock, special teams.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I do.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_01]: But yes, I do value.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_01]: Why do receiver blocking too much?
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: That is whenever I'm doing draft tape, whenever I'm breaking down tape, it is a major like flaw of mine.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I also put too much stock in corners that can come up and support run the run game.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's a flaw of mine.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: But I was to say, whatever I coached, I like we're not playing seven on seven.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: We're not this is man's game.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: This is a physical game.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't have the physical component, I can't trust you.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_01]: I can't now if you are a Hall of Fame talent like Deon Sanders and like I ain't doing that.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_01]: You roll the dice with that.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: You put your strong safety to his side all the time because you ain't got to worry about him getting beat.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_01]: I get it if they're that talented.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: But you go all the way through and I shrug with offensive line and they can't run, blah, like I get there.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like I've got flaws to my grading scheme or whatever you want to say, no doubt about that.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, and so like disagreements are great.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: And there are NFL teams that don't value.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like Emmanuel Forbes is playing in the NFL for the Rams who are pretty damn good.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: but like the ramps will take flawed players they don't give a shit like they don't care we'll take line then they can't pass pro we'll take corners that won't tackle we'll take wide receivers that know that is wrong make way once wide receiver plus blockers all the time had to stop myself with that but anyway that they'll just make stuff work everywhere else
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: Now back to the 49ers and some more positives shout out to Dimo, you know, he didn't play much just that first series, but blanketed lad Maconkey who torched the Niners, Ed that joint practice.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's like congratulations to the chargers.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: You won the joint practice.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: Got your ass kicked tonight.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: Up and down the field, first team, second team, third team.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: Don't give a damn got your ass kicked.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: Dioma during the norr shutting down lad Maconkey.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_01]: That was pretty awesome.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_01]: To force the three and out, I was pretty excited.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: Another back end guy that I really liked tonight, Quentin Bell, the defensive end, just a couple great plays in the run game.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: I was just like nice, even Gyer Brown, who again, not a fan of made a nice tackle on third and long on a screen kind of an open field tackle thought that was awesome.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_01]: Give him his flowers didn't play a lot.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: It did.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_01]: giant crowds over there break it down the team to start the game and I'm just like to just make this guy coach like why are we I don't know but he made a play so positive didn't give up anything major negative that's okay Samo consistent consistent like your perfect defensive defensive in five or four you know what I mean not a starter he can start if you need
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: Positive plays consistently that's not a playmaker helps the team defense out all the time not a playmaker not going to get a lot of sex not going to get a lot of TFLs get the damn job done.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's see special teams that he was good.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_01]: Coreless waitman love our punter.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: Touchback, you know, got it got to touch back on a punt that landed at the four and then bounced in dude keep doing that will be all right nice 48 yard point with the three yard return.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely, love it.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: Now, other things I love.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: If you're going to any 49er game this year, you've got to come party with us.

- 46:26[SPEAKER_01]: All right, just a couple of entry updates coming across the Twitter sphere, Renato Green hamstring imaging schedule for tomorrow to determine the extent hamstring can be kind of 10 days to eight weeks.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_01]: There's a wide variance.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_01]: So the fact they're doing an MRI, not great.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_01]: Not great Bob.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: Not great.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: Austin Pleasant's knee.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_01]: Not thought to be an ACL, but not sure how serious it is.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what that is.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Martin hamstring to be determined and then right here.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_01]: This is interesting to me.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Jones has an unspecified injury that will keep him out next week too.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: I told y'all that tape was bad and I said, don't be shocked if Robert Jones retires didn't dress tonight.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that it's like I'm not trying to throw shade.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_01]: I just saw somebody that wasn't ready to come back to the NFL after taking a year off.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's kind of what it's going to be and so might have an injury designation.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_01]: He gets waved on an injury thing.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_01]: The Niners do them solid, put them on IR and he gets paid a little cash and just rides off into the sunset, but like not shaming him publicly.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's what it's going to be.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_01]: He looks really bad.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I just could go watch our breakdown if you want to.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, and you know, if
- 47:55[SPEAKER_01]: Ronaldo Green who's had a great camp is out.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's next man out.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_01]: Do you move stout outside?
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: Or do you just keep him at nickel where he flers and just put Jack Jones in the spot?
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's probably what I would do.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of moving, man, I want up to the stout out there.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, I love it.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, so a lot of fun, man, this is episode 1,700.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_01]: I can't wait to get to the tape.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: I hope it comes across in the morning.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_01]: So join us the 49ers rush.com.

- 48:27[SPEAKER_01]: But that's going to do it for us.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_01]: You guys are incredible.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_01]: The nighters wasted the chargers.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: Put the smack down all three phases.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: So many positives, couple entry negatives.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to do it for us tonight.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_01]: And until next time,
