Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Now here's your host, that's a Chobe. Welcome into another
- 0:12Speaker 2: edition of Hawk Talk. The Seahawks get it done in
- 0:14Speaker 2: five time, beating the Commanders thirty eight to fourteen. Bump
- 0:17Speaker 2: And it really wasn't that close.
- 0:19Speaker 3: No, I wasn't that.
- 0:20Speaker 4: Fourteen is a is a facade that thirty eight really
- 0:23Speaker 4: should be like a forty five, you know what I mean.
- 0:25Speaker 3: But second half slow down a bit.
- 0:27Speaker 4: But when you start the way that they started, man,
- 0:29Speaker 4: it's hard to come back from now one thousand percent.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I started the podcast against the Texans last week or
- 0:34Speaker 2: two weeks ago, I guess with the same thing. I
- 0:35Speaker 2: just reiterating things that coach McDonald says. Yes, style, nobody
- 0:38Speaker 2: wants to play through, not around, decisive, relentless, shocking. They
- 0:43Speaker 2: are embodying those words each and every week now, and
- 0:45Speaker 2: they're gonna be scary good because I'm telling you that
- 0:47Speaker 2: was domination from the first nap to the last. And
- 0:50Speaker 2: here's an invitation out to everybody. You can join the bandwagon.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Join it now. I'm just telling you, I want you
- 0:55Speaker 2: to get on the train with clarific question. You know
- 0:57Speaker 2: what I'm saying, the ticket and we'll keep it around
- 1:00Speaker 2: because I want people to enjoy this football team, because
- 1:02Speaker 2: we're seeing a really good one. But I'm telling you
- 1:03Speaker 2: something special that's happening here in Seattle. So I'm excited.
- 1:06Speaker 2: The Hawks extend their franchise record to ten consecutive road winds. Insane.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Coach McDonald now approuves to eleven to one on the
- 1:13Speaker 2: road and becomes the third head coach in NFL history
- 1:16Speaker 2: to win eleven on his first twelve road games. Insane.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I mean, this team is rolling right now, so we'll
- 1:21Speaker 2: jump right into it.
- 1:22Speaker 4: What had happened, See what happened was what had happened
- 1:27Speaker 4: at first was what had happened was on Hawk Talk.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Hawks forced the punt on the Washington's first possession and
- 1:34Speaker 2: went on a super impressive twelve play ninety yard drive
- 1:37Speaker 2: ending with a Tory Horton four yard touchdown. The Seahawks
- 1:40Speaker 2: overcame penalties on the drive, which was really impressive. They
- 1:42Speaker 2: had a first and twenty five second and seventeen penalty
- 1:45Speaker 2: on that third and one. No problem, they figured out
- 1:48Speaker 2: get it done. Then on the very next drive, Jaydon
- 1:50Speaker 2: Daniels was intercepted by Tyle Katta. He's got balance it.
- 1:52Speaker 2: For those who don't know Tory, there you go. Come on, man,
- 1:55Speaker 2: look at his pro day. He's bawling out. We'll talk
- 1:57Speaker 2: about him a little bit later. But really great to
- 1:59Speaker 2: see time doing what he's doing. And Devin Weatherspoon helped
- 2:02Speaker 2: force that play with that pressure on the edge.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I liked it too, man.
- 2:05Speaker 4: It was a blitz from the slot and the way
- 2:08Speaker 4: he did it, it was like he hid behind the tackle
- 2:10Speaker 4: and then the last minute shot off the b gap
- 2:11Speaker 4: and Daniels was just not ready for it.
- 2:14Speaker 3: And then the Hawks came right back with another great drive.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Seven plays, sixty yards and it went a twenty five
- 2:18Speaker 4: yard touchdown to who Tory Horton once again, making the
- 2:21Speaker 4: score fourteen to zero.
- 2:23Speaker 3: He just entered the offensive rookie of the year.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Chat, I'm the same Chat insults injury on the insuing kickoff,
- 2:29Speaker 4: Brandon Peeley. Let's go force a fumble and it was
- 2:32Speaker 4: a cover by Connor O'Toole, something that has not been
- 2:34Speaker 4: done all year for the Seahawks force of fumble and recovery.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Love to see it happening on special teams. Love to
- 2:38Speaker 2: see it happen to Brandon Peely. He was just on
- 2:40Speaker 2: the huddle last week, so love what we're seeing from him.
- 2:43Speaker 2: And also the new kickoff rules. Maybe in the olden times,
- 2:45Speaker 2: I don't think Brandon is running down Oh gosh. I
- 2:48Speaker 2: love the way he can be out there now. If
- 2:50Speaker 2: you watch that play, super physical, good luck blocking him
- 2:52Speaker 2: from a five yards out and be like, okay, good luck.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Dean linman are going to be prime on that team
- 2:57Speaker 4: now because they're big enough to run through a man
- 3:00Speaker 4: and they're quick enough to give you a good fifteen
- 3:02Speaker 4: twenty yard sprint. This just provided more job opportunities for
- 3:05Speaker 4: a big defensive lineman.
- 3:06Speaker 2: No, I love it. And Jay Harbrough's obviously ahead of
- 3:08Speaker 2: the curve. They've been looking at this stuff and you
- 3:10Speaker 2: can mix it up because before it was a very
- 3:12Speaker 2: certain type of people that were on the kickoff team.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Now to your point, that can absolutely change. But after
- 3:17Speaker 2: that bump on, then the very next play, Sam Darnold
- 3:20Speaker 2: hits Elijah Royle absolute dark twenty six stars touchdown that
- 3:23Speaker 2: made the score twenty one zero, and the route was on.
- 3:25Speaker 2: And we'll break that play down a little bit later.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Yeah, the Commanders will go three and out on the
- 3:29Speaker 4: next drive, and the Seagous came right back with yet
- 3:31Speaker 4: another touchdown, this time a sixty yard bomb to who
- 3:34Speaker 4: Cody White. We got Cody White scoring his first touchdown.
- 3:37Speaker 4: You got a royal score in his first touchdown touchdown.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Then Tyle Katta get his first interception, so Cody White.
- 3:42Speaker 4: That made the score twenty eight to zero. The Commanders
- 3:44Speaker 4: will finally get on the board with a ten play,
- 3:46Speaker 4: sixty nine year drive that ended with a one yard
- 3:49Speaker 4: touchdown run by Jaden Daniels.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and that was literally the only thing that happened.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Ernest Jones gets a little banged up and things change
- 3:55Speaker 2: a little bit there. The Hawks would get the ball
- 3:57Speaker 2: back though fifty three seconds up in the half, and
- 3:59Speaker 2: I love this part. Tim Donald winks up with JSN
- 4:01Speaker 2: for two clutch catchers. We're and talk about him because
- 4:03Speaker 2: he continues to do stuff that has literally never been
- 4:05Speaker 2: done in this franchise history. So we'll get into that
- 4:08Speaker 2: with JSN. But that led you a forty one yard
- 4:10Speaker 2: field goal from Jason Myers, and the halftimes scorer is
- 4:12Speaker 2: thirty one to seven Seahawks. Now the third quarter started
- 4:15Speaker 2: with two punts. Then Sam Donald made his only mistake
- 4:18Speaker 2: of the night. He threw an interception to Cody White.
- 4:20Speaker 2: This is how I justify this interception. You're up thirty
- 4:24Speaker 2: one to seven, You're having a heck of a day.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Everything is flowing.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Say you know what, I'm gonna roll left and try
- 4:29Speaker 4: to just squeeze this one in there real quick, throw
- 4:31Speaker 4: it behind Cody White. I think he doesn't take that
- 4:33Speaker 4: risk if it wasn't thirty one to seven. But nonetheless,
- 4:36Speaker 4: you got to take care of the football. The Commanders
- 4:38Speaker 4: would not take advantage, as they turned the ball over
- 4:40Speaker 4: on downs the following possession. Then the Seahawks would put
- 4:44Speaker 4: the final nail on the coffin as they would nine
- 4:46Speaker 4: plays sixty yards and he with a one yard run
- 4:48Speaker 4: from not K nine now Isaac Sharbonde, a Jay barner
- 4:53Speaker 4: the barnyard man that made the score thirty eight to seven.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Yeah, the right was on. I mean this game and
- 4:57Speaker 2: no point felt close because the Seahawks put it on
- 4:59Speaker 2: it from the jump. Commanders will get a garbage time
- 5:01Speaker 2: touchdown late in the game to make the final score
- 5:03Speaker 2: thirty eight fourteen, and then, man, you hate to see
- 5:05Speaker 2: it Jaydon Daniels goes down bad leader, his elbow dislocation.
- 5:08Speaker 2: There need to be helped off the field. He rejected
- 5:10Speaker 2: the cart, so praying for a speedy recovery for him.
- 5:13Speaker 2: So you hate to see that. You know, dan Quinn's
- 5:15Speaker 2: getting a lot of heat for that. It's football. That
- 5:17Speaker 2: is a play that happens so often. It's hard to
- 5:19Speaker 2: really fault him for being in the game. It is
- 5:21Speaker 2: what it is. And then also bad luck. Looks like
- 5:23Speaker 2: they lost their corner for the year. He lose mccaffor
- 5:25Speaker 2: for the year. So a tough time down there in Washington.
- 5:28Speaker 2: But anyway, Bump, this was a beatdown on national television.
- 5:31Speaker 2: And I'm so happy the Seahawks. I think the rest
- 5:33Speaker 2: of the nation has now. I'm being like, oh, bus
- 5:34Speaker 2: team in Seattle that's playing ball again, and it's welcome
- 5:38Speaker 2: to the party. I'm happy everyone is now seeing how
- 5:39Speaker 2: good this football team is.
- 5:41Speaker 4: They out gained the Commanders four eighteen to two ninety
- 5:44Speaker 4: one the turnover battle two to one, scored on every
- 5:47Speaker 4: possession in the first half.
- 5:48Speaker 3: The Hawks were seven four eleven on third downs.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Thank you, baby Jesus, because before that there were three
- 5:53Speaker 4: for twenty six two previous weeks. Nice to see the
- 5:57Speaker 4: third down get changed and the nice to hear on
- 5:59Speaker 4: a Monday National voices talking about what's going on in Seattle.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Yeah and saying the right thing Like we were in
- 6:05Speaker 2: an NFL network a couple weeks ago. They're calling them
- 6:07Speaker 2: Mike McDaniel, they're not knowing about guys. Take note. This
- 6:11Speaker 2: team is doing some really good things. But at the
- 6:13Speaker 2: end of the day, what's the biggest thing you learned
- 6:14Speaker 2: from this game?
- 6:15Speaker 4: The biggest thing I learned is that when you have
- 6:19Speaker 4: certain pieces, you're allowed to do certain things. And Mike
- 6:21Speaker 4: McDonald is still getting creative with this defense. We saw
- 6:24Speaker 4: Leo in a two point stands a bunch of times.
- 6:26Speaker 4: I love seeing that. That's creative.
- 6:27Speaker 5: Now.
- 6:28Speaker 4: It's not like it's never happened before, right, but for
- 6:30Speaker 4: him to say, you know what, Leo has a good
- 6:33Speaker 4: pass rush, we don't have to put him in a
- 6:34Speaker 4: two point on the outside.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Let's do it on the inside.
- 6:36Speaker 4: And also love the pick plays he was running with
- 6:39Speaker 4: that defensive line as well. It's these aren't things that
- 6:41Speaker 4: Mike McDonald hasn't been doing. But the more you get
- 6:44Speaker 4: into the season, the more you see these wrinkles happening
- 6:48Speaker 4: a bit more often. So just the defense is still
- 6:50Speaker 4: getting better and evolving. That's what I learned it and
- 6:53Speaker 4: like to see, which just scary good in this offense.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Again, we were not talking about this offense being as
- 6:57Speaker 2: good as they are, and they're scary good all three
- 7:00Speaker 2: phases of this team. We don't talk about special teams
- 7:02Speaker 2: a time, but special teams continues to make plays. So
- 7:04Speaker 2: this team, when all three phases are working well, you're
- 7:07Speaker 2: seeing what you're seeing. You're seeing a six and two
- 7:08Speaker 2: football team who's leading their division. So let's get into
- 7:11Speaker 2: people who made plays all over the field.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Touchdown playmakers told him what time Holy cat gotta star
- 7:24Speaker 1: with Sam Donald again, he's leading this thing on offense.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Twenty one to twenty four, three hundred and thirty yards,
- 7:29Speaker 2: four touchdowns, just won an interception. Started to game with
- 7:33Speaker 2: seventeen straight completions that tid wardn Moon's franchise record for
- 7:37Speaker 2: consecutive completed passes. Unfortunately the next one was incomplete, but
- 7:40Speaker 2: he was balling out first half. He was perfect sixteen
- 7:43Speaker 2: to sixteen, two hundred and eighty two yards, four touchdowns,
- 7:45Speaker 2: a perfect one point fifty eight point three passer rating.
- 7:48Speaker 2: He now has eighteen games with one hundred plus passer
- 7:50Speaker 2: rating since twenty twenty four. That's the most in the NFL.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Donald shown once again he should be MVP consideration because
- 7:56Speaker 2: he's doing everything. This offensive line is protecting him super well,
- 7:59Speaker 2: so I don't want to take any credit away from that.
- 8:00Speaker 2: But the times there is pressure, he's making plays with
- 8:02Speaker 2: his feet, doing everything right. Sandarnald is just out of
- 8:05Speaker 2: his mind right now.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Did you hear the story about he felt like he
- 8:08Speaker 3: was jinxed.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it's going to beat the record when someone
- 8:11Speaker 4: said something to him about it and he said he
- 8:13Speaker 4: jinks him. But now that's great to see and to hear.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Man he's putting up historic numbers and it shouldn't be ignored.
- 8:19Speaker 4: So I'm happy that he did it on the national stage,
- 8:22Speaker 4: rocking with or going against the commanders. Now let's talk
- 8:24Speaker 4: about JSN eight receptions one hundred and twenty nine yards.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Became the first player in franchise history to record four
- 8:30Speaker 4: consecutive one hundred yard receiving games.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Still blows my mind.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Steve Larger, dk metcalf Title Lockett, Doug Baldwin, Bobby Ingram,
- 8:38Speaker 4: I mean, the list goes on and on the good
- 8:39Speaker 4: receivers that have been through here. He also tied Steve
- 8:43Speaker 4: Larger for the most one hundred yard receiving games in
- 8:45Speaker 4: a single season in franchise history with the six. Something
- 8:48Speaker 4: tells me he's probably gonna break that too, past dk
- 8:50Speaker 4: Metcalf for the most receptions in the player's first three
- 8:52Speaker 4: seasons in franchise history with two hundred and twenty one
- 8:56Speaker 4: of those things. Now, Jayson joined Hall of Famer Isaac
- 9:00Speaker 4: Bruce as the only player under the age of twenty
- 9:02Speaker 4: five with nine hundred plus receiving yards in their first
- 9:05Speaker 4: eight games of the season.
- 9:07Speaker 3: I'm not done.
- 9:08Speaker 4: He also became the fifth player in the Super Bowl
- 9:10Speaker 4: ARA with at least seventy five receiving yards in each
- 9:12Speaker 4: of his first eight games of the season, joining Adam
- 9:15Speaker 4: Theenam Thelem, theling Goodness, gra Adam I Bad theling Man.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I know you, you know me.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Let's go Antonio Brown, Michael Irving, and Dwight Clark. He
- 9:24Speaker 4: now has nine hundred and forty eight receiving yards on
- 9:26Speaker 4: the season, just fifty two yards away from the one
- 9:29Speaker 4: thousand yard mark. The franchise record is thirteen oh three,
- 9:32Speaker 4: all right, that's done.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean this is unreal. This is every week
- 9:36Speaker 2: you're waiting for some team to take this away. It's
- 9:38Speaker 2: not rocket science in terms of people know coming in
- 9:41Speaker 2: the game, hey we gotta take away Jason can't get
- 9:43Speaker 2: beat over the top all this stuff. Teams are trying
- 9:45Speaker 2: to do it every single week and they can't do it.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Any's working.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Jason is on a whole nother level. And I love
- 9:50Speaker 2: what we're seeing because we could be watching history. Is
- 9:52Speaker 2: he gonna break the record of two thousand? Who knows?
- 9:55Speaker 2: But it's just fun watching this. I'm just gonna enjoy
- 9:56Speaker 2: every single week of what we're seeing. You mentioned earlier,
- 9:59Speaker 2: Tory Horton put his name in the half a Rookie
- 10:01Speaker 2: of the Year. Four receptions, forty yards, two touchdowns. What
- 10:04Speaker 2: I loved about him is that you know, Cooper Cup
- 10:06Speaker 2: was not playing last week, so who steps up Tory Horton.
- 10:08Speaker 2: We've seen stuff from him each and every week, whether
- 10:10Speaker 2: it's in the special teams game or as a wide receiver.
- 10:13Speaker 2: So level we're seeing from Tory Horton. And then Cody White.
- 10:15Speaker 2: You have just the one reception, but for sixty yards
- 10:18Speaker 2: in touchdown. He was elevated from the practice squad because
- 10:20Speaker 2: the injuries in our receiver room. Every time that man
- 10:23Speaker 2: is given an opportunity, he balls out. Last year he
- 10:26Speaker 2: gets activated against the Rams, blocks of punt, has a
- 10:28Speaker 2: nice long catch up the sideline. He's a great athlete.
- 10:31Speaker 2: We've talked about this. He's one of the best sneaky
- 10:32Speaker 2: athletes on the team. I'm just super happy for those
- 10:35Speaker 2: guys going out.
- 10:36Speaker 4: I want to say Cody had a return too in
- 10:38Speaker 4: this game. I remember him giving a little high step
- 10:41Speaker 4: on the side day. Yeah, okay, Cody, go get it.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Next up, Tyo Kata five tackles, one pass defended, one interception.
- 10:48Speaker 4: The man has vert and keeping his toes in two
- 10:52Speaker 4: on the sideline. That was that was crucial. The space
- 10:54Speaker 4: awareness has been on point for that dude. He's played
- 10:57Speaker 4: more snaps than Jay Love this year. He's out there,
- 11:00Speaker 4: He's in them streets. And also Drake Thomas had eight tackles,
- 11:03Speaker 4: one SAG, one QB him, one TfL and one pass defended.
- 11:07Speaker 4: This young man has taken that linebacker spot and ran
- 11:10Speaker 4: with it. And last finale's no you you finished with
- 11:13Speaker 4: with the big cat.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I mean he is unblockable, like literally it's it's shocking
- 11:17Speaker 2: that he doesn't make every single play because you're watching
- 11:19Speaker 2: these offensive linemen just have a terrible time trying to
- 11:22Speaker 2: block this dude. Five tackles, one sack, one TfL, one
- 11:24Speaker 2: quarterback hit. But his impact in the game goes well
- 11:27Speaker 2: beyond the stat sheet. It's it's unreal. And going back
- 11:30Speaker 2: to Tye and Drake, you know, at one point it
- 11:33Speaker 2: was a feel good story. We're happy, you know, they're
- 11:35Speaker 2: that they're succeeding the NFL. We hear so beyond that,
- 11:37Speaker 2: these are legitimate starters in the National Football League making play.
- 11:40Speaker 2: So I love what they're doing each and every week.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Bum whatc from the receivers?
- 11:45Speaker 3: All right, wide out round up.
- 11:46Speaker 4: We already talked about one JSN one hundred and twenty
- 11:49Speaker 4: nine yards, no touchdowns, but it's all good. The homie
- 11:52Speaker 4: took care of that for him. He had only had
- 11:54Speaker 4: a twenty six yard long only aow man. That's the
- 11:57Speaker 4: first game without going at least thirty six. Yeah, I'm like,
- 11:59Speaker 4: all right, man, guy nine er, he's good to go.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Cody White, we talked about him. He had one big
- 12:05Speaker 4: reception for sixty and a touchdown. Tory Horton had four
- 12:07Speaker 4: for forty eight, two touchdowns. Elijah Arroyo had himself a
- 12:11Speaker 4: decent game, two catches, one touchdown. AJ Barnet had three
- 12:14Speaker 4: for twenty four.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Is that?
- 12:15Speaker 4: Sharbonda one for twenty one, K nine to two for nineteen. Overall,
- 12:19Speaker 4: this group produced three hundred and thirty yards and four touchdowns.
- 12:22Speaker 4: That's what out Jason crossing the goal line getting to
- 12:26Speaker 4: the ping.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, they're spreading the wealth out even though
- 12:29Speaker 2: you know Jasi is always gonna lead the team in
- 12:31Speaker 2: receive him because he's the best in the league. Right now,
- 12:34Speaker 2: just love what we're seeing from that. But again, we're
- 12:35Speaker 2: gonna get back to some of our favorite plays of
- 12:37Speaker 2: the game, and there's a lot of good plays going
- 12:39Speaker 2: on right now, but we're gonna focus on Sam Donald
- 12:42Speaker 2: connecting with Tory Horton for twenty five yard touchdown.
- 12:45Speaker 5: Looking at a third down and eight, sharbon A stands
- 12:48Speaker 5: beside Sam Donald in the shot gun. Donald takes the snap.
- 12:51Speaker 5: He's gonna let him fly. He's got a man in
- 12:53Speaker 5: the end zone.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Touchdown.
- 12:55Speaker 5: Shayhawks HiT's Tory Horton his second touchdown catch of the
- 13:00Speaker 5: night from twenty five yards out, and that was just
- 13:03Speaker 5: a beautiful lofted pass into the back corner of the
- 13:07Speaker 5: right side of the end zone. Tory Horton comes up big.
- 13:11Speaker 5: Injuries have hurt this receiving corps. It hasn't hurt Tory
- 13:15Speaker 5: Horton nor Jackson Smith and Jigba. The Seahawks on top
- 13:19Speaker 5: now thirteen nothing all.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Right, So the Seahawks come out in an empty formation, right.
- 13:24Speaker 4: You have Zach Charvina outside as well. But before the
- 13:27Speaker 4: snap you get into another motion. You got Cody White
- 13:30Speaker 4: that comes down to the bottom of the screen, makes
- 13:31Speaker 4: it trips on the bottom and gets Zach Scharbnay in
- 13:33Speaker 4: the backfield. Once again, the motion shows or tail Sam Darnold.
- 13:37Speaker 4: They are in a man defense. Now the focus is
- 13:39Speaker 4: going to be on Tory Horton. But this is the
- 13:42Speaker 4: Jason effect as well, all right, Jayssen attracts two defenders.
- 13:45Speaker 3: He is being double team.
- 13:47Speaker 4: So that's why Tory Horton is able to inside release
- 13:49Speaker 4: and it looks like no one's there because you know what,
- 13:51Speaker 4: no one is there. They committed a safety NADB to Jysm.
- 13:56Speaker 4: But let's focus on Tory Horton. Good job with the
- 13:58Speaker 4: inside speed release. Didn't spend a lot of time on
- 14:00Speaker 4: his release because he knows I got space and opportunity
- 14:03Speaker 4: over there. All I have to do is inside release
- 14:05Speaker 4: and get vertical. It does exactly that doesn't allow the
- 14:07Speaker 4: defender to get his hands on him. Gets inside, gets
- 14:09Speaker 4: on the hash. And what I love about it too
- 14:11Speaker 4: is that he stays vertical. A lot of times young
- 14:14Speaker 4: receivers getting patient, they want to break this off early
- 14:16Speaker 4: and the timing's all jacked up. Gets inside, stays vertical,
- 14:20Speaker 4: snaps it out of forty five. This is going to
- 14:22Speaker 4: be the easiest touchdown of his career, honestly. But all
- 14:24Speaker 4: this happens because of what happens beneath him. Got JSN
- 14:27Speaker 4: was just running a little stopbrout. The safety in the
- 14:30Speaker 4: corner stays with him, allowing this to look like essentially
- 14:33Speaker 4: a cover zero pourting over the top. Way to stay vertical,
- 14:37Speaker 4: easy throw and catch, and you look up the offensive line.
- 14:40Speaker 4: You get some protection there as well. Sam Donald gets
- 14:42Speaker 4: into his drop. The right side collapse a little bit,
- 14:44Speaker 4: but now this is where Abe wins. You wash him,
- 14:47Speaker 4: You wash him, he gets too deep, you put him
- 14:49Speaker 4: in the dirt. You got Bradford who has good protection
- 14:51Speaker 4: as well. The left side is good. Sam Donalds nice
- 14:53Speaker 4: and comfy, easy toss.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Yeah. When looking at this, I'm just shot how much
- 14:57Speaker 2: man the Commander's played against this team, the strengths. It's
- 15:02Speaker 2: just surprising to me looking at it. To a great
- 15:04Speaker 2: release by Horton, just runs away from the dB there.
- 15:07Speaker 2: It doesn't get a hand on. He's almost suppressed. His
- 15:08Speaker 2: feet are kind of in quick standing there. He gets
- 15:10Speaker 2: beat and then you look shout out to Grey's Abel
- 15:14Speaker 2: finding work right out there. Just fit good rush by
- 15:17Speaker 2: former Seahawks Jacob Martin. He gets up, feel a little bit.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Grey's Abel comes over. Boom, go to the ground. We're
- 15:22Speaker 2: done here, cleaning it up. Next clean pocket for Sam
- 15:25Speaker 2: Donald to just do do what he's been doing. And
- 15:27Speaker 2: it's again, I would love for teams to play this
- 15:31Speaker 2: much man against the Seahawks because they will win each
- 15:34Speaker 2: and every single week. So love to see what we're
- 15:36Speaker 2: seeing there. And again I don't blame them. If I'm
- 15:38Speaker 2: the safety, I'm putting two guys on jays. Sure if
- 15:41Speaker 2: it's a man, look underneath it. I'm free. I'm finding
- 15:43Speaker 2: where eleven is. It makes sense. But again that's how
- 15:46Speaker 2: dangerous his team can because Tory Horton keeps doing that.
- 15:48Speaker 2: They're gonna talk teams out of playing man. All right,
- 15:51Speaker 2: Our next play that we're gonna look at. Sam Donald
- 15:53Speaker 2: finds Elijah Royo for a twenty six yard touchdown.
- 15:55Speaker 5: JSN is wide right, looks like he has some double coverage.
- 15:58Speaker 5: Sam is under center, He's looking back to the left side.
- 16:01Speaker 5: He's gonna throw down.
- 16:01Speaker 3: The scene, got a man out there.
- 16:03Speaker 5: The ball is caught, touchdown, Shayhawks. The rookies are going
- 16:08Speaker 5: nuts tonight. It's a Royal who makes the catch, the
- 16:12Speaker 5: touchdown reception from twenty six yards out, and Elijah Royo,
- 16:17Speaker 5: the rookie out of Miami who can do so many things.
- 16:21Speaker 5: Just put the Seahawks up now twenty to nothing awaiting
- 16:25Speaker 5: the twenty first point. And the locals are not happy
- 16:30Speaker 5: here outside of Washington, DC.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Yeah, the locals ain't gonna be happy about what they
- 16:35Speaker 4: see at the bottom of the screen neither.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I know.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Royal scores his touchdown.
- 16:38Speaker 4: We'll get to him, but down below you got JSN
- 16:41Speaker 4: with one of the most filthy releases I've seen since
- 16:44Speaker 4: eight nine.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Was over here, Dug Ballwin doing his thing.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Man coverage gives him an in gives him an out
- 16:50Speaker 4: and he is gone.
- 16:50Speaker 3: But also look at that safety.
- 16:52Speaker 4: All right, the ball is in the middle of the field,
- 16:54Speaker 4: and that safety is cheated over to whoside. Jaysn once again,
- 16:58Speaker 4: and what Sam Donald does a great job of doing it.
- 17:00Speaker 4: When the ball is snaped safety. I'm staring that side
- 17:02Speaker 4: because I know why you're over there. I know they're
- 17:05Speaker 4: and men. I know you're gonna try to say over
- 17:06Speaker 4: the top there, so I'm gonna keep you there with
- 17:08Speaker 4: my eyes. Gets in to that drawback, looks to the right.
- 17:11Speaker 4: So now let's focus on Arroyo handing the dirt. Does
- 17:13Speaker 4: a good job outside releasing clean. These guys played a
- 17:16Speaker 4: lot of man, but they didn't get hands on nobody.
- 17:18Speaker 4: It was like press free release as a receiver. Thank you,
- 17:21Speaker 4: come again. I'll do this every single time. So what
- 17:24Speaker 4: a royal does is he gets to his landmark. I
- 17:26Speaker 4: guarantee you his landmark was top of the numbers. Outside
- 17:29Speaker 4: release gets to the top of the numbers and now
- 17:31Speaker 4: stays skinny. That safety is already taken. Care about the
- 17:33Speaker 4: eyes of Sam Donald. Sam Donald tosses a dime. B
- 17:36Speaker 4: Walt said this during the broadcast. The ball caught Arroyo
- 17:40Speaker 4: and landed right between his bicep and his forearm, and
- 17:43Speaker 4: all he had to do was not drop that thing,
- 17:46Speaker 4: thread the needle. Three defenders around him when it's all
- 17:48Speaker 4: said and done. But it's all pre snap recognition, keeping
- 17:50Speaker 4: his safety there with his eyes and the rest is history.
- 17:54Speaker 2: You started with Jayson. That is one of the most
- 17:56Speaker 2: filthy releases you mentioned. Eighty nine. Doug Baldman was the
- 17:59Speaker 2: best I've ever seen you to getting off the ball.
- 18:00Speaker 2: If you're gonna mean this much, man and your deth
- 18:03Speaker 2: line of scrimmage, de press and you don't touch anybody,
- 18:04Speaker 2: good luck, especially against Jackson Myth and Jigba or anyone
- 18:07Speaker 2: else for that matter. Number twenty three tray a miss
- 18:09Speaker 2: had a tough day. He had a tough day on
- 18:12Speaker 2: that side. Absolutely cooked on that first one. And then
- 18:14Speaker 2: you know, I love the clean pocket again for Sam Darnold.
- 18:17Speaker 2: No pressure there and that's an absolute dart. That is
- 18:20Speaker 2: amazing play, pretty good coverage on Royo like that ball,
- 18:23Speaker 2: he's right there. And just again a better throw, better
- 18:26Speaker 2: offense beats good defense, and my goodness, I mean this
- 18:29Speaker 2: is just this is what you want to see. Yeah,
- 18:31Speaker 2: we're so spoiled right now. Where this football team is
- 18:34Speaker 2: and how they're playing. But this is tape again once again.
- 18:38Speaker 2: If you're gonna play man, good luck, you better get
- 18:41Speaker 2: hands on, like you said, because if you don't, at
- 18:43Speaker 2: that point, you might as well grab him. But here's
- 18:45Speaker 2: the thing about they couldn't grab him if they tried.
- 18:49Speaker 2: That's how much separation Jason is causing right there. He
- 18:53Speaker 2: gets it done the Seahawks, obviously, Laza Royo gets it done.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Everywhere around the board level, We're seeing this offense is
- 18:58Speaker 2: hitting on all cylinders, and that brings us to how
- 19:01Speaker 2: they got it done. Our favorite formation, victory formation.
- 19:05Speaker 5: Here comes the Seahawks offense on to the field and
- 19:08Speaker 5: the Vikings defense trudging out there knowing that one meal
- 19:13Speaker 5: down and the Seahawks are gonna line the clock down.
- 19:16Speaker 3: And win this one. It's the victory formation.
- 19:19Speaker 2: On Hawk Talk, domination from the start. You scored in
- 19:23Speaker 2: the first five possessions of the first half. That connection
- 19:26Speaker 2: between seeing Darnald Jason we were just talking about it
- 19:28Speaker 2: is elite. Darnald perfect in the first half, four touchdowns.
- 19:32Speaker 2: I mean, you can fight over who's the MVP between
- 19:33Speaker 2: those two. I mean, it's it's unreal. Obviously, we know
- 19:36Speaker 2: it's not a receiver award, that's not gonna happen, but
- 19:39Speaker 2: they're playing at that level and it's fun to watch.
- 19:41Speaker 4: Yeah, four touchdowns, Sam locking smooth, Jason licking smooth.
- 19:47Speaker 3: What's their not to love? And Jason rewriting the record books. Man.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Week after week he continues to show why he is
- 19:52Speaker 4: among the best in the NFL at his position.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Man. Teams they want to try to take him away,
- 19:57Speaker 3: but they can.
- 19:58Speaker 4: We prime example, we saw safeties over the We saw
- 20:01Speaker 4: a tight bracket, a bracket from deep.
- 20:02Speaker 3: It don't matter.
- 20:03Speaker 4: He's gonna get his He's gonna get a dim and
- 20:05Speaker 4: biggest sa Koobiak too. Like he's designing these concepts and
- 20:09Speaker 4: other receivers are doing their job, which kind of helped
- 20:12Speaker 4: spread the love around.
- 20:13Speaker 3: No Cooper cub dodn't warr about it.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Tory Harden, he stepped up in this place Man two
- 20:17Speaker 4: touchdowns and continues to show how he can help this team.
- 20:20Speaker 4: He was a fifth round pick, all right, I had
- 20:21Speaker 4: him at a second round grade. This dude is better
- 20:23Speaker 4: than where he was drafted, and he's showing that so
- 20:26Speaker 4: far this year.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Without question. I think the Seahawks said that same thing too.
- 20:28Speaker 2: If he doesn't get injured at Colorado State, he's probably
- 20:31Speaker 2: in the second round. Yeah, but again level re seeing
- 20:33Speaker 2: from him defensively. Tyla Cotta stepped up huge with Julian
- 20:36Speaker 2: Love and I are can't wait for Julian to come
- 20:38Speaker 2: back because we know how good he is. And that's
- 20:40Speaker 2: the thing. This team is still not healthy. Yeah, this
- 20:42Speaker 2: team is still not healthy. You had an injury to
- 20:44Speaker 2: Josh Job, had a concussion, Greek One came back in there,
- 20:46Speaker 2: played good football level received from twenty seven. So everyone,
- 20:49Speaker 2: I mean everyone is playing good football. The Hawks have
- 20:52Speaker 2: playmakers bump on every level of the defense, and completely
- 20:56Speaker 2: blown out expectations on offense.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 20:59Speaker 4: It's it's too early, got a lot of season left,
- 21:03Speaker 4: but you're taking the right steps. I described it as
- 21:06Speaker 4: this was like the test before the mid term. It's
- 21:09Speaker 4: like a chapter test. Okay, get pass the chapter test.
- 21:12Speaker 4: You get the mid term coming up in a couple
- 21:14Speaker 4: of weeks. Got a pop quiz next week against Arizona Cardinals.
- 21:17Speaker 4: Just keep passing the test and keep proving people wrong.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I love and again, this coaching staff, this
- 21:23Speaker 2: building's gonna be ready. The Seahawks are not gonna look
- 21:25Speaker 2: past the Cardinals because despite their two I mean, they're
- 21:27Speaker 2: gonna play to night, but despite their record, they're not
- 21:29Speaker 2: getting blown out.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Nah, they're close.
- 21:31Speaker 2: It's the NFL, this NFC West again once again went
- 21:33Speaker 2: the toughest division in football. So each week there's gonna
- 21:36Speaker 2: be a test. But the Seahawks, they are playing great football.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Six and two in first place. Hopefully keep that going.
- 21:41Speaker 2: We'll be talking to you guys on Thursday preview on
- 21:43Speaker 2: those Arizona Cardinals. He's back. Obamas to Massa, Chobe. This
- 21:46Speaker 2: has been HOWK Talk
