Transcript
- 0:06Speaker 1: Hey, welcome back to Vanity Farrah. My name is Chris
- 0:09Speaker 1: and this is my podcast, and I am so incredibly
- 0:12Speaker 1: excited to bring to you a collab episode. This is
- 0:17Speaker 1: a catch all Sister Wives end of season twenty collab.
- 0:21Speaker 1: We talk about the one on ones of course season twenty,
- 0:24Speaker 1: but you can't talk about Sister Wives without talking about
- 0:27Speaker 1: everything that brought us up to here. So it is
- 0:30Speaker 1: a full breakdown. I could have spoke with this person
- 0:33Speaker 1: for ten hours about this with doctor Adam of the
- 0:37Speaker 1: Sister Wives Professor podcast. So doctor Adam, if you know
- 0:42Speaker 1: this podcast, is a professor of interpersonal and family communication.
- 0:47Speaker 1: He uses academic concepts, commentary, and the occasional bad joke
- 0:51Speaker 1: to explore the relationship dynamics in the show Sister Wives
- 0:55Speaker 1: and others. He was incredibly lovely, warm, gracious in this conversation. Also, uh,
- 1:04Speaker 1: super fan, I mean so knowledgeable. On the Sister Wives
- 1:10Speaker 1: Professor podcast, there are a couple episodes that there's so
- 1:14Speaker 1: many episodes you can really jump into, but for season
- 1:17Speaker 1: twenty he did a full interview with Suki and in
- 1:21Speaker 1: that interview she really lets us know her PLV on
- 1:27Speaker 1: that process with Cody and how she has to dance
- 1:31Speaker 1: in between what the viewers want, but also the fact
- 1:34Speaker 1: the family gets to sign off on who interviews them
- 1:37Speaker 1: and how she has to make sure she's delicate enough
- 1:40Speaker 1: to get answers. Anyway, that's alone a great episode. Also,
- 1:44Speaker 1: there's a member's only episode that dives into the catfish scandal,
- 1:48Speaker 1: which is you know, just so ripe. However, other than that,
- 1:54Speaker 1: please check out his Sister Wives Professor podcast. And at
- 1:59Speaker 1: the same time, have you given Vanity Farah five stars yet?
- 2:04Speaker 2: Like?
- 2:04Speaker 3: Have you thought about it?
- 2:06Speaker 1: If you thought about it, great, if you've done it
- 2:08Speaker 1: even better if you've thought about it. Listen, I'm into
- 2:11Speaker 1: it because just like how I don't make a purchase
- 2:14Speaker 1: from a brand unless I've like considered it, added it
- 2:16Speaker 1: to Kart, and then like close that browser and then
- 2:20Speaker 1: like came back like a week later, I, you know,
- 2:22Speaker 1: sometimes remember to buy it. So at some point I'm
- 2:26Speaker 1: asking you to pay no money to me. But just
- 2:28Speaker 1: when you're scrolling and you pick up your phone and
- 2:31Speaker 1: you open Instagram and you're like what am I doing here,
- 2:33Speaker 1: be like, oh, you know what I can do. I
- 2:35Speaker 1: can open up wherever I listen to podcasts and go
- 2:39Speaker 1: ahead and give Vanity Farah five stars in a great
- 2:41Speaker 1: review or a shitty review, as long as it's five stars.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. Do whatever you want to do. However,
- 2:47Speaker 1: I really would appreciate that. Of course, my socials remain
- 2:50Speaker 1: the same. You can follow at Chris sel Farah everywhere
- 2:53Speaker 1: or subscribe to Patreon. Other than that, enjoy this episode
- 2:57Speaker 1: and thank you.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Hello everybody. Hope you're owing a great day. Hello to you, Chris.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Hi my gosh, Hi doctor Adam, how are you.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I am so excited. We have never done this before,
- 3:12Speaker 2: which is weird. Welcome, Oh my gosh, this is so
- 3:15Speaker 2: much fun. So yeah, folks, me and Chris have never
- 3:18Speaker 2: collaborated before, and we are here just to talk to
- 3:21Speaker 2: you about Imagine that, right, We're here to talk to
- 3:23Speaker 2: you about sister I mean you talk about many many things, yes,
- 3:25Speaker 2: but Sister Wives included.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Yes.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I was so thankful that you had known my podcast.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I had done Doky Sweety's with my friend Waw and
- 3:33Speaker 1: now I'm doing Vanity Faarra on my own, and I
- 3:35Speaker 1: cover a lot of different shows, like the entire ninety
- 3:40Speaker 1: day Multiverse, but also Love is Blind, I'm doing Traders.
- 3:44Speaker 3: I love Sister Wives.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Like it is my Roman empire, you know what I'm saying,
- 3:47Speaker 1: It's my Polygamus empire.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Like I do. I do love it, and not a
- 3:51Speaker 3: lot of people in my life watch it.
- 3:54Speaker 1: And I don't know any podcasters in real life that
- 3:58Speaker 1: talk about it like I do, like the Reality Gaze
- 4:00Speaker 1: or like you know, Pink Shade people who die and
- 4:04Speaker 1: breathe day Fiance. Now, for someone like you, who is
- 4:09Speaker 1: like so well versed in human behavior, I would salivate
- 4:15Speaker 1: the idea of thinking I could hear your thoughts on
- 4:18Speaker 1: the ninety Day multiverse. And I don't know what's going
- 4:21Speaker 1: to happen in Sister Wives, but I'm going to hardcore
- 4:24Speaker 1: pressure you to get into it, you know, get into something,
- 4:28Speaker 1: because I needed, I need to know your thoughts.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Well, you were lucky that I am super humanly susceptible
- 4:35Speaker 2: to peer pressure. So that sounds great, no you. I
- 4:38Speaker 2: was doing a live earlier today on Instagram and somebody
- 4:42Speaker 2: asked me, you know, are you going to do ninety Day?
- 4:43Speaker 2: And I think, like, I've got to it someday. I mean,
- 4:46Speaker 2: Adam cannot survive on Sister Wives alone forever. The show
- 4:50Speaker 2: I think it's got We could talk about this. I
- 4:52Speaker 2: think the show's probably got one more, and I think
- 4:54Speaker 2: it's got one more, but I don't know that. I
- 4:57Speaker 2: don't know that. So I also too for folks that
- 5:00Speaker 2: don't know me like I do, talk about Welcome to
- 5:01Speaker 2: Platfill and seeking Sister Wife and all kinds of other
- 5:03Speaker 2: stuff like I love this stuff. I do. I do love,
- 5:06Speaker 2: genuinely love reality as much as I'm a sister wise guy.
- 5:09Speaker 1: First and foremost, so do you have and I do
- 5:13Speaker 1: to have a fascination with either Mormon culture or polygamous culture,
- 5:17Speaker 1: or fundamentalist Christian culture or that kind of traditionalist extremist situations,
- 5:23Speaker 1: Because I do, I do.
- 5:24Speaker 3: I'm not, you know, hardcore, I do you know?
- 5:26Speaker 2: Excellent question kind of, but more as a symptom of
- 5:29Speaker 2: a larger issue, of which is you know. When I
- 5:33Speaker 2: started going to graduate school in two thousand and nine,
- 5:36Speaker 2: I started my masters, and I wanted to study stigma.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I wanted to study identities that socially are considered off
- 5:44Speaker 2: putting or negative but maybe don't need to be so,
- 5:48Speaker 2: like studying addiction recovery, studying weight gain, weight loss, sexuality certainly,
- 5:54Speaker 2: And so I fell into Sister Wives because I thought
- 5:58Speaker 2: my God, this is perfect. I was writing my master's thesis.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I was looking for someone to binge on Netflix because
- 6:03Speaker 2: I didn't have kids or a relationships, so I could
- 6:05Speaker 2: just watch TV all day and write, which was amazing.
- 6:07Speaker 3: What a dream I had a dream.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I mean, I don't have those things out there. I
- 6:10Speaker 1: kind of do that, Ben, It's my dream.
- 6:11Speaker 3: I live that.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm very happy now too. But I had a
- 6:14Speaker 2: lot of freedom to watch and that's how I fell
- 6:16Speaker 2: in the Sister Wives and I thought, I'm my god,
- 6:17Speaker 2: this is great. I didn't want to. I've never done
- 6:19Speaker 2: research on it. People ask me that sometimes I like to.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Previously I used to keep that completely separate from my
- 6:23Speaker 2: professional life. So yes, but it's funny because I am
- 6:27Speaker 2: in the middle of reading a book on Warren Jeff's
- 6:30Speaker 2: and his cult right now, and needless to say, I
- 6:34Speaker 2: struggling emotionally with the raw realities of it. But yeah,
- 6:38Speaker 2: so I've become not even that well because you know,
- 6:41Speaker 2: this the thing with Sister Wives or any of this stuff.
- 6:43Speaker 2: As much as I think I know, there are always
- 6:45Speaker 2: people that know way more than me, which I like.
- 6:48Speaker 2: But so yes, to answer your question, I do have
- 6:51Speaker 2: a growing still interest in that kind of stuff.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, you're right.
- 6:57Speaker 1: It's always so interesting because I think that I know
- 6:59Speaker 1: more than anyone in in my friend group. But if
- 7:01Speaker 1: I go live, of course there's people that are like,
- 7:02Speaker 1: actually it was you know so, and so you're like
- 7:05Speaker 1: it was pain and You're like, oh my god, yeah, no,
- 7:06Speaker 1: I got it. And of course they're right, you know,
- 7:09Speaker 1: and I'm like, no, thank you for being here, thank
- 7:10Speaker 1: you for correcting me, like steer that ship, honey. But yeah,
- 7:14Speaker 1: that's and also I'm gonna say, like, have you ever
- 7:16Speaker 1: seen like stay Sweet in Obey, Like, have you ever
- 7:18Speaker 1: seen those docuseries that are also on these kinds of shows,
- 7:21Speaker 1: because like the other part of like these kind of
- 7:23Speaker 1: insular cultures, it's not just Mormon polygam it's like I
- 7:26Speaker 1: was also obsessed with another TLC staple, like the you know,
- 7:30Speaker 1: Romaine the Traveler shows, and so there's like the they
- 7:34Speaker 1: use the G word, which I don't want to use
- 7:37Speaker 1: in case that's offensive for someone. The names of the
- 7:40Speaker 1: show that was like my big fat, blabbaty blue you know,
- 7:43Speaker 1: wedding I love. But yeah, all that to say cultures
- 7:45Speaker 1: that don't usually let people in, but all but have
- 7:48Speaker 1: like such specificity and such you know, wild similarities in
- 7:54Speaker 1: their in their aesthetics, Like I I.
- 7:57Speaker 3: I can't not watch it. I love it too much,
- 8:00Speaker 3: which you.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Know, yeah, well that to me is the beauty of
- 8:02Speaker 2: reality TV, though is reality TV is for smart people.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Reality TV is for people that are inquisitive. Reality TV
- 8:08Speaker 2: is for people that can go outside of themselves. And
- 8:11Speaker 2: yet it looks be real like anything that is primarily
- 8:14Speaker 2: enjoyed by women's society stigmatizes it as being flippant and unnecessary.
- 8:19Speaker 2: You know, it's reality TV is the pumpkin spice lattes
- 8:22Speaker 2: of television, and that well, mostly women like it, so
- 8:24Speaker 2: it can't be taken seriously. And I find that offensive
- 8:27Speaker 2: as a guy. Whatever, But like, I'm happily married to
- 8:31Speaker 2: a woman who has gotten my wife and multiple other
- 8:34Speaker 2: women I dated into sister Wives and into reality and going, hey,
- 8:37Speaker 2: you sit down and watch this. It wasn't the other
- 8:39Speaker 2: way around, you know. I find that so problematic and
- 8:42Speaker 2: unfortunate because every I'm sure you do too, Every month
- 8:45Speaker 2: at least I get an email from somebody going apologetically, Adam,
- 8:49Speaker 2: I don't know why I watch this? Can you tell me? Like,
- 8:51Speaker 2: is this okay, or do you know I'm a smart person?
- 8:54Speaker 2: Why do I watch this? And I always going you
- 8:55Speaker 2: watch this because you're a smart person, because you have
- 8:58Speaker 2: the wherewithal and the emotional churity to look outside of
- 9:01Speaker 2: yourself and wanderler. The same thing is watching documentaries. You know,
- 9:04Speaker 2: nobody ever says, like, nobody ever says, what are you
- 9:06Speaker 2: wasting your time watching those documentaries? You know? And well
- 9:08Speaker 2: maybe not nobody, but not like reality TV? Right, So no,
- 9:12Speaker 2: I love this stuff. I love it.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I completely agree. I'm completely obsessed. And also, so let's
- 9:18Speaker 1: talk about this. This is season twenties of Sister Wives,
- 9:22Speaker 1: and obviously love has been divided, you know, it has
- 9:25Speaker 1: not been multiplied.
- 9:26Speaker 2: So like, so we wanted the family, we just got
- 9:29Speaker 2: the man.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we were. There's one there was one common
- 9:32Speaker 3: denominator literally that divided the entirety of the family. That's Cody.
- 9:37Speaker 3: And now I'm not even good at math, but like
- 9:39Speaker 3: that's where we are now.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And so you sort of said this, you believe there's
- 9:44Speaker 1: maybe one more season left in the franchise, and I'm guessing.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I don't know, I know nothing nobody tells me. I'm
- 9:51Speaker 2: guessing based upon what I wouldn't hold you to that,
- 9:54Speaker 2: and that's based upon mickelty Pa. Joan has said they
- 9:57Speaker 2: filmed it, and so who knows you know filmed, doesn't
- 10:00Speaker 2: I mean released. I've been saying I think that TLC
- 10:02Speaker 2: is savvy enough for this popular show. They would want
- 10:04Speaker 2: to market the final season and really get I agree
- 10:07Speaker 2: something out of that if they could. But I don't know.
- 10:09Speaker 2: That's me hip. I hope so what and maybe we
- 10:12Speaker 2: could talk about this, maybe towards because we do want
- 10:14Speaker 2: to talk about obviously season twenty I have my wish
- 10:17Speaker 2: list for season twenty one, and spoilers, we will get
- 10:21Speaker 2: none of it because no, I've got some Chris, I've
- 10:25Speaker 2: got some big ticket items on my wish list.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I want to hear them. Tell me now I would.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Let's please tell me what you want to know and
- 10:31Speaker 1: see in twenty one.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Number one, I want Cody and Robin to take on
- 10:35Speaker 2: a new wife. That's my dream. That's the biggest one.
- 10:39Speaker 2: I'm I'm what is the opposite of barying the lead?
- 10:42Speaker 2: I'm throwing the lead way out front. That's what I Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 10:45Speaker 2: probably won't happen, But do.
- 10:46Speaker 1: WoT now in this fantasy who wants it more Cody
- 10:49Speaker 1: or Robin because we.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Know it's not going to happen.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Is this your first day?
- 10:55Speaker 1: Because here's the thing, we know that Cody, Cody has
- 10:58Speaker 1: the propensity to fall in love with someone who's obviously
- 11:01Speaker 1: like younger and makes him feel great. Now, Robin wants
- 11:05Speaker 1: us to believe, has always wanted us to believe that
- 11:08Speaker 1: she has wanted a big family and she would only
- 11:11Speaker 1: be too happy if other people could just be around
- 11:13Speaker 1: and sharing the love they have with Cody.
- 11:15Speaker 3: And then the Cody passes work Like I know, so I know,
- 11:18Speaker 3: But what I'm asking is I want to hear it
- 11:19Speaker 3: from your mouth.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Here's why I don't think it could happen, and god,
- 11:25Speaker 2: I hope I'm wrong.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:26Speaker 2: The appeal of polygamy and you just said it. The
- 11:28Speaker 2: ap peal of polygamy is Robin can be the best,
- 11:31Speaker 2: She can be the first among equals. If somebody comes in,
- 11:34Speaker 2: Robin no longer was the best. The completion of the
- 11:37Speaker 2: family was Robin, and it was, by the way, prior
- 11:40Speaker 2: to that Christine. That was an important foundational identity piece
- 11:43Speaker 2: for Christine. So it's only fair i'd point that out
- 11:46Speaker 2: Robin could not do that for Robin to have a
- 11:48Speaker 2: young because she'd be younger. You know what, she'd be prettier.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I don't talk about appearances, but probably to Cody, she
- 11:53Speaker 2: would be more physically attractive, which that's the important thing.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sorry, and that's how you That's exactly how
- 11:58Speaker 1: I wanted to frameant to.
- 12:00Speaker 2: He would see it that way and Robin would know that,
- 12:02Speaker 2: and that would be hard for Robin. The appeal of
- 12:04Speaker 2: polygamy is I get to come in and be chosen
- 12:06Speaker 2: above everyone else. Because that's also what Robin gives to Cody,
- 12:10Speaker 2: is I had another husband, you are the much better husband.
- 12:13Speaker 2: You know, my kids they'd rather you be their father
- 12:16Speaker 2: than their father. That's that fuel that gives Cody. You know,
- 12:20Speaker 2: why does Cody choose them? And there are many, many reasons,
- 12:22Speaker 2: but that's part of it. For Robin, it would be
- 12:25Speaker 2: anthetical to what she wants from polygamy, and yet that's
- 12:29Speaker 2: all I want. Well that Okay, I am infamous for
- 12:33Speaker 2: how much I want more Rontent. I can never get
- 12:35Speaker 2: enough of him because he's just there and he's so handsome,
- 12:40Speaker 2: and I just think sweet, I think I get people
- 12:44Speaker 2: think of joking. I just think Ron seems so sweet.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I want that for everybody. Can I just say that,
- 12:48Speaker 2: not just Mary, anybody that wants a partner, I want
- 12:51Speaker 2: them to have a partner that's just like I think
- 12:52Speaker 2: you're wonderful. I think I want that for.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Everyone, validating and stuff.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Ron has a backstory, And every time Ron would like
- 12:58Speaker 1: hint at you know, like because he was obviously in
- 13:00Speaker 1: a fundamentalist Christian lifestyle, you know he's hinted at like
- 13:04Speaker 1: wanting to be able to make decisions and feel good
- 13:08Speaker 1: about them without other people involved in the car. They
- 13:11Speaker 1: had like little conversations like this when when they were driving.
- 13:14Speaker 1: I wish I knew more about like what Ron's actual
- 13:18Speaker 1: life was from, Like I wish because we never got
- 13:19Speaker 1: to go to Ron's house see Ron's actual setting, Like
- 13:23Speaker 1: Ron kept coming being in other locations, which made us
- 13:26Speaker 1: feel a little bit like Ron is such a supporting character,
- 13:31Speaker 1: like and I mean, they they didn't have a lot
- 13:34Speaker 1: they could have leaned into showing us who this person
- 13:38Speaker 1: was more if he was like an actual romantic interest.
- 13:41Speaker 3: And I think it's weird that they didn't.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Yeah serious saying you want like a whole Ron tent dump,
- 13:46Speaker 2: like you want you will.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Yes, think of it. Okay, if she was the Baceorette,
- 13:50Speaker 3: there'd be a home.
- 13:50Speaker 2: You're not wrong.
- 13:51Speaker 3: You're not wrong, thank you, and in your validation means
- 13:55Speaker 3: the world to me.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Like I would want to see his hometown visit uh huh,
- 13:58Speaker 1: like you know, like how he lived, you know, like
- 14:00Speaker 1: you know, does does he have a cool room with
- 14:02Speaker 1: a bunch of like cool toys and like you know,
- 14:04Speaker 1: video games with like a.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Really like interesting color background that really like showcases, like
- 14:09Speaker 3: you know, a warmth and also like an interest. You know,
- 14:13Speaker 3: you just know so much when you see someone how
- 14:15Speaker 3: someone lives, you know, like who knows what's happening here?
- 14:17Speaker 1: But anyway, I like that didn't happen. But I'll tell
- 14:20Speaker 1: you what did happen with in season twenty one. What
- 14:23Speaker 1: you could see which I showed you is Mary and
- 14:26Speaker 1: Jen's new matchmaking business. Honey match major matchmaker, make me
- 14:30Speaker 1: a match?
- 14:31Speaker 3: It's them. What do you think?
- 14:32Speaker 2: God willing? I will never be single again. I'm just
- 14:35Speaker 2: saying if I was, I would be there. I would
- 14:37Speaker 2: be there all day long. Everything about that other than
- 14:42Speaker 2: you know, I'm very happily married and so that would
- 14:44Speaker 2: be inappropriate. Everything else about that is so foundationally appealing
- 14:48Speaker 2: to me because I'll love Mary. I'm a huge gen booster.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I think everybody needs a gen Jen to me in
- 14:53Speaker 2: all seriousness, because I come from a place of relational communication.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Jen is such an effective communicator. Jen is really skilled
- 15:01Speaker 2: at She knows the conclusion she wants Mary to come to,
- 15:05Speaker 2: and she asks open ended questions to lead Mary to
- 15:09Speaker 2: a conclusion rather than telling Mary what to do. You
- 15:12Speaker 2: saw that, especially with the talkbacks, look backs, whatever the
- 15:15Speaker 2: heck they were, or she's sitting on a couch. And
- 15:17Speaker 2: before that though, where she would go, Okay, well Mary,
- 15:19Speaker 2: do you feel like that's good friendship from Robin and
- 15:22Speaker 2: she would let Mary come to that conclusion instead of saying,
- 15:25Speaker 2: you know. And Jen's gotten a lot more over as
- 15:27Speaker 2: she should, and I think that's appropriate. But I like Jen,
- 15:31Speaker 2: no I would go. I have really enjoyed Mary's season twenty,
- 15:35Speaker 2: especially her kind of found family, the Fantastic Four as
- 15:37Speaker 2: I call him, Mary and her friends. I think that
- 15:39Speaker 2: it's great. Mary has really found her people, and you've
- 15:42Speaker 2: seen the strength that gives Mary with the picnic table
- 15:45Speaker 2: of Doom, conversation with Cody during the and we're getting
- 15:48Speaker 2: ahead of ourselves. I think we were going to talk
- 15:50Speaker 2: kind of chronologically about this stuff, but man, Mary has
- 15:52Speaker 2: such a We'll.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Start with Mary though. Yeah, well you're right, No, there
- 15:56Speaker 1: was a perfect transition. I was going to get into it. Yes,
- 15:58Speaker 1: Jen As you're right, has credible communication skills, especially for
- 16:02Speaker 1: someone who came into their lives as like the wife
- 16:05Speaker 1: and or business owner of a pest control company.
- 16:07Speaker 3: You know, like in the sense that.
- 16:08Speaker 1: She I mean, she has almost like a therapist's way
- 16:12Speaker 1: of being present and like softly allowing someone to say
- 16:20Speaker 1: the thing that they obviously are having a hard time saying,
- 16:23Speaker 1: you know, Like it's really a big skill, especially because
- 16:26Speaker 1: someone like me. Okay, if I'm someone's best friend and
- 16:30Speaker 1: I feel like I have an opinion about their lives,
- 16:32Speaker 1: it is hard for me to allow them to have
- 16:34Speaker 1: the space because.
- 16:36Speaker 3: I'm like, no, it suns like Mary say, sends stuck.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Just okay, okay, Mary, just fine. But communis also anyway,
- 16:42Speaker 3: but you know what I'm saying, you know, just like sorry, I.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Love you, but like you know, you're just like because
- 16:46Speaker 1: I guess my point of the story is I'm highly
- 16:48Speaker 1: reactive and I'm an emotional person, and if I'm watching
- 16:51Speaker 1: someone I love go through it.
- 16:53Speaker 3: I do have a hard time being like Chris, just
- 16:55Speaker 3: check check yourself, assignment about you and.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Be there for your friends. But yeah, and Jen does
- 17:01Speaker 1: in a way that I can obviously do. But yeah,
- 17:05Speaker 1: let's talk with Mary. Let's go through what happened in
- 17:08Speaker 1: this season. Then we'll go through through the tell all.
- 17:10Speaker 1: But basically, as we know, Mary gets Amber, as you said,
- 17:14Speaker 1: a roommate in she's turning the Airbnb, which, by the way,
- 17:17Speaker 1: I don't know if you know this. I drove through
- 17:20Speaker 1: periwan Utah and took a picture right outside of the Airbnb.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Oh, I want to do that. I want to go
- 17:25Speaker 2: to Proowin really bad. Because Jen has been doing Instagram
- 17:28Speaker 2: lives with her bike shop and she's got almost this
- 17:31Speaker 2: Magnolia Farms type set up with all these Wese crafts
- 17:33Speaker 2: and this amazing stuff. I just thought, oh my gosh,
- 17:36Speaker 2: everything about it is my wife's aesthetic, so meaning everything
- 17:40Speaker 2: is beautiful. So that's even more incentive for me to
- 17:44Speaker 2: go to Peowin, Parowan and Para ron as I like
- 17:46Speaker 2: to call it.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Ha haha. You should.
- 17:49Speaker 1: By the way, it's so easy to get to, like
- 17:50Speaker 1: especially where we Oh actually I lied, we don't live
- 17:53Speaker 1: in the same place, but for me it was ha
- 17:54Speaker 1: ha ha.
- 17:55Speaker 3: And it's also such beautiful.
- 17:56Speaker 1: I'm in California. I felt bad because I was listening
- 17:58Speaker 1: to your podcast. You're like, oh, or so cold here,
- 18:00Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh, it's so hot outside.
- 18:02Speaker 3: I literally had their cognitioning on.
- 18:04Speaker 1: It's Utah's so gorgeous and the red rocks are so beautiful, like,
- 18:08Speaker 1: and there's different obviously parts of it or whatever, like
- 18:10Speaker 1: where down in Moab, you know, like looks different. But
- 18:13Speaker 1: I almost wished we had more like Parowan charming townsfolk
- 18:20Speaker 1: content like and it got better a little bit.
- 18:22Speaker 3: But Mary, you know, in the.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Early scenes are having like her sip and pain where
- 18:26Speaker 1: they're all doing like eggplant paintings, and I thought that
- 18:28Speaker 1: was a little dumb.
- 18:29Speaker 3: I thought it was.
- 18:29Speaker 2: To be honest with think, I was gonna say, oh,
- 18:31Speaker 2: I loved it, but fair enough.
- 18:32Speaker 1: You know why I didn't love it because I tell
- 18:34Speaker 1: me I don't because I feel like I.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Was also her friend.
- 18:36Speaker 1: At some point I'd be like, let's not draw cony, like,
- 18:40Speaker 1: let's just move let her move on.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Okay, yep, agreed. Can't fault you on that. Yeah, I
- 18:44Speaker 2: was gonna say, if you're talking about doing a if
- 18:46Speaker 2: you're talking about sip and wine and painting for fun
- 18:49Speaker 2: and like all day, all the livelong day, you just
- 18:51Speaker 2: make my mind juice. But yeah, I do think And
- 18:54Speaker 2: some of that, I'm sure is the pull the gravity
- 18:56Speaker 2: of the show, because as much as you and I
- 18:58Speaker 2: feel that way, a lot of people will go, why
- 19:00Speaker 2: am I watching the scene? This has nothing to do
- 19:02Speaker 2: with Cody or the larger family, you know, and so
- 19:05Speaker 2: like that wouldn't bother me. But I also, I don't know,
- 19:07Speaker 2: I thought that painting. Those paintings were hilarious. The egg plants,
- 19:10Speaker 2: I don't know, man, it made me laugh. I'm a
- 19:11Speaker 2: big emoji guy, though.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I don't find Ron wildly attractive, but I think that
- 19:18Speaker 1: I should.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Well if that makes one of us good looking. Man,
- 19:23Speaker 2: that's a song.
- 19:24Speaker 1: As you're saying, I think, okay, as I mean, I'm like,
- 19:27Speaker 1: there's something wrong with me, and I'm I think that
- 19:29Speaker 1: I pick something emotionally unavailable. Man, oh, and Ron is
- 19:35Speaker 1: only too available and his like, I think that I
- 19:38Speaker 1: have a I think that this is I wish it
- 19:40Speaker 1: was an emoji for that there kind of is I
- 19:42Speaker 1: feel like Actually my emoji is a little bit for
- 19:45Speaker 1: this exact conversation, which is, yes, I just keep picking
- 19:48Speaker 1: wrong person after wrong person, and I think that like
- 19:50Speaker 1: there's something energetically about them that I must find interesting,
- 19:54Speaker 1: and then then upon further inspection, they are not great
- 19:58Speaker 1: for me. But kind of like that, if it was
- 20:01Speaker 1: an emoji, would be just that head, like the yellow
- 20:05Speaker 1: face that it's just melting into the ground, kind of
- 20:08Speaker 1: like what is this world?
- 20:09Speaker 2: What can we do?
- 20:10Speaker 3: You know?
- 20:10Speaker 1: Like I do love that emoji because it can be
- 20:14Speaker 1: used in so many ways, just like face melting off, Just.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Like I use it every day that in the crying
- 20:18Speaker 2: with like the streams of tears.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Oh god, Yeah, I love that for when I'm laughing.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that for all day. But can I
- 20:27Speaker 2: say this though, can I say this before we move
- 20:29Speaker 2: before we move round? Here's what I like about in
- 20:34Speaker 2: all seriousness, if I was looking to date Ron, he
- 20:38Speaker 2: puts effort into his look. He's curated, you know, he
- 20:42Speaker 2: cares about his appearance, especially around Mary. He wants to
- 20:45Speaker 2: look good for her. That's good. I mean, look at Chris,
- 20:48Speaker 2: look at this.
- 20:48Speaker 3: You know, give a baby, huh, give a baby.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Well, first of all, my wife loves this. My wife
- 20:53Speaker 2: chose this. We watched the documentary on the Eagles and
- 20:55Speaker 2: she saw seventies Glenn Fry and she said, look like that,
- 20:58Speaker 2: and I said, anything you want. So it took me
- 21:00Speaker 2: a couple of years when I got there. Likes She
- 21:02Speaker 2: likes the seventies dirt bag look, thankfully. But he does that.
- 21:05Speaker 2: And Ron, he's what in my household we call a
- 21:08Speaker 2: Christoph christof from Frozen, which is just a sturdy looking
- 21:12Speaker 2: guy that's there to help. Like he's not gonna make
- 21:14Speaker 2: things about himself. He's there to help. And Chris, I
- 21:16Speaker 2: feel like you need a Christoph in your life. I
- 21:18Speaker 2: think you need a guy. I know. I've known you
- 21:20Speaker 2: for twenty two minutes, so I think I'm qualified to
- 21:22Speaker 2: tell you what kind of person you want. So, folks,
- 21:24Speaker 2: I'm joking, don't take this right. Don't take me out.
- 21:26Speaker 2: A man's plaining things to Chris. I would never do that.
- 21:28Speaker 2: But you got to let them in though, as as
- 21:31Speaker 2: a helper, as a as a labrador myself or golden retriever.
- 21:34Speaker 2: I think that's what they call guys like me. You
- 21:36Speaker 2: gotta let him, gotta let him help, gotta let them
- 21:38Speaker 2: help because you deserve that, you deserve consistency.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I'm gonna really just marinate in this conversation,
- 21:46Speaker 1: which is like so perfectly timed in my life and
- 21:49Speaker 1: also bringing up the times in which I have like
- 21:51Speaker 1: a nice guy that actually offered to do something for
- 21:53Speaker 1: me and I was like mmmmm, no, you know whatever,
- 21:55Speaker 1: and then now, yeah, it's just so funny. Yeah, Like
- 21:58Speaker 1: it's it's very actually few and far between that people,
- 22:01Speaker 1: I think offer to do things for me, Like I
- 22:04Speaker 1: almost so that like, but at the same time, going
- 22:07Speaker 1: back to being present kind of like how Jen is
- 22:09Speaker 1: with her conversations with Mary, Like I think you have
- 22:12Speaker 1: to really not be in your head about things so
- 22:14Speaker 1: that you can pick up on when people are offering,
- 22:17Speaker 1: because you can also not even see it when you're
- 22:21Speaker 1: in your own With Mary and Ron, it's so interesting,
- 22:24Speaker 1: and I guess what I want to ask to you
- 22:26Speaker 1: is why isn't Mary at the end of this tell
- 22:30Speaker 1: all like, oh, yeah, Ron and I are dating right now. Yeah,
- 22:33Speaker 1: it's been it's obviously been a year's it's because you know,
- 22:36Speaker 1: like we it's been a long time since we've seen
- 22:39Speaker 1: this footage, like what is happening? Because the streets of
- 22:41Speaker 1: Reddit will give you everything from he's a paid actor
- 22:44Speaker 1: to you know, like she's not in him. Even Sukie
- 22:48Speaker 1: who's like, wait, so are you gonna go out with
- 22:51Speaker 1: him again? Are you dating him? We hang out? Oh,
- 22:54Speaker 1: Like what is happening? Why is she so vague about it?
- 22:58Speaker 2: If I were to guess, And that's all I'm doing
- 23:00Speaker 2: is guessing, and I'm trying to be respectful, especially because
- 23:02Speaker 2: I'm talking about people that clearly did not want to
- 23:04Speaker 2: be on TV. You know, Mary was in a relationship
- 23:06Speaker 2: with that gentleman Amos and that ended however it ended.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I don't know none of my business. I could see
- 23:12Speaker 2: that making Mary very cautious and going, you know what,
- 23:14Speaker 2: maybe I don't want to publicly announce this big thing.
- 23:17Speaker 2: I mean, he's on the show. The other thing could
- 23:19Speaker 2: be like, we don't know. I don't know Ron's if
- 23:23Speaker 2: Ron has children. I don't know what kind of parameters
- 23:25Speaker 2: Ron keeps in place, Like Ron's locked down, very lockdown,
- 23:28Speaker 2: which I support, if that's what he needs. I don't
- 23:32Speaker 2: know what his life is like. It could be a
- 23:34Speaker 2: matter because you look at David and I like David,
- 23:37Speaker 2: but David had a very harsh spotlight put on him
- 23:41Speaker 2: the passing of his wife. His children have been on
- 23:43Speaker 2: TikTok talking about, Wow, you guys do not know my mother,
- 23:46Speaker 2: You do not know my father, you don't know me
- 23:48Speaker 2: that I couldn't do it. I could not if I
- 23:51Speaker 2: fell in love, you know, if I'd fall in love
- 23:53Speaker 2: with my wife and she was on reality TV, like,
- 23:55Speaker 2: we wouldn't make I don't have that kind of constitution.
- 23:58Speaker 2: So those are my guesses. I think it's it's Mary's savvy.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Mary's a smart lady. I think Mary kind of knows
- 24:07Speaker 2: people want people want this and so and I could
- 24:11Speaker 2: see too. And again this is probably me making stuff up.
- 24:15Speaker 2: So folks don't take this seriously because Chris and I
- 24:17Speaker 2: are just having fun. If I were Mary, I could see, like,
- 24:20Speaker 2: y'all know everything. Y'all want to talk about my cat fishing,
- 24:22Speaker 2: y'all want to talk about why didn't you leave Cody?
- 24:24Speaker 2: Tell you what. I'm gonna sit on this.
- 24:25Speaker 3: For a while.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Maybe you can't have this yet until I'm ready. I
- 24:28Speaker 2: could see that. I'm not saying I think that's what
- 24:29Speaker 2: she's doing. I'm saying if she did, I would have like.
- 24:31Speaker 1: You kind of said like or she uses this as
- 24:34Speaker 1: like guess what's happening season one or season twenty one?
- 24:36Speaker 2: Yeah, Ron Mance.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Yeah, because the truth.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Of the matter is when we go and talk about
- 24:41Speaker 1: other people, like you're you brought up that you wanted
- 24:43Speaker 1: Cody and Robin to bring on obviously like a you know,
- 24:46Speaker 1: a second wife would and that would be great for them.
- 24:48Speaker 1: And besides that, they have like not anything else that
- 24:51Speaker 1: was that would be interesting that could possibly happen, like
- 24:54Speaker 1: you know, like he's been on Special Forces, you know,
- 24:57Speaker 1: like I have wanted him to go on Dancing with
- 24:59Speaker 1: the Stars, but then or conversations, I'm like, he won't
- 25:01Speaker 1: touch another woman.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I don't think.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I don't know how he would get up around having
- 25:05Speaker 1: to sexy dance. But you know, dance in itself is sexy.
- 25:09Speaker 2: It's intimate, it's intimate.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, the closeness and like especially you know, certain
- 25:13Speaker 1: dances whatever. So like then he wouldn't be able to
- 25:16Speaker 1: do it. I don't know how, even though he does
- 25:18Speaker 1: want to be famous.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Can you imagine him doing that wedding, the COVID wedding
- 25:22Speaker 2: where he's he's Elaine Bennis dancing around.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Right, it's genius casting.
- 25:27Speaker 2: I would just love for him to be there and
- 25:29Speaker 2: Alfonso Rubio or somebody's just standing off on the corner
- 25:31Speaker 2: just checking their head, like what are you doing? All
- 25:33Speaker 2: my money I don't have much, but all my money
- 25:36Speaker 2: to watch that happen.
- 25:37Speaker 1: He's such a weird dancer, and they've talked about it
- 25:39Speaker 1: so much. It's just like I would just be so
- 25:43Speaker 1: it would be such a huge platform. He'd be so happy,
- 25:45Speaker 1: you know. It's like, I don't know, that's like what,
- 25:48Speaker 1: that's my dream, even though it's not really what happened
- 25:50Speaker 1: in the tent on season twenty one, unless it was
- 25:53Speaker 1: and they got to like somehow film his experience of
- 25:56Speaker 1: doing it, you know, because you also know if he
- 25:58Speaker 1: was and this is again an absolute fools paradise because
- 26:02Speaker 1: he wouldn't be able to be on it because how
- 26:03Speaker 1: intimate dancing is. But like he let's just say he
- 26:06Speaker 1: was on it, he would not be on it for long,
- 26:08Speaker 1: you know, like because he would be voted off. He
- 26:10Speaker 1: would have he would be voted off, Like I'm not
- 26:12Speaker 1: saying because of any of the reason, just that he
- 26:15Speaker 1: can't dance.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I thought he was gonna be all Special Forces in
- 26:17Speaker 2: two episodes, So I don't know anything. I thought he
- 26:20Speaker 2: was going to get cooked.
- 26:21Speaker 3: He is that kind of like.
- 26:25Speaker 1: He has a you know, a militant masculine desire to perform.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it turns out, m M, yeah, I misread the
- 26:33Speaker 2: whole thing.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I you know, because when he talks about his dad,
- 26:36Speaker 1: he talks about like, my dad was this cowboy, you know,
- 26:39Speaker 1: and when I would watch women watch my dad, you know,
- 26:42Speaker 1: he could do no wrong. He could just cut off
- 26:44Speaker 1: that horse, but he would just treat three women horribly
- 26:48Speaker 1: and then treat Janelle's mom great because she was brand
- 26:52Speaker 1: new and like, you know, the robin of the group,
- 26:54Speaker 1: like you know, and everyone be like okay with how
- 26:56Speaker 1: he did it, because his masculinity was so loud, like
- 26:59Speaker 1: this is cody thing, obviously, He's this is how I
- 27:02Speaker 1: feel like a piece together, Cody's idea of what it
- 27:05Speaker 1: meant to be a successful head of the house, and
- 27:08Speaker 1: you know, and how he saw it happen with his dad,
- 27:10Speaker 1: how it didn't work out for him. And then to
- 27:13Speaker 1: be on the only other show he's been on beside
- 27:15Speaker 1: Sister Wise, which is you know, Special Ops, Special Forces,
- 27:18Speaker 1: which is.
- 27:18Speaker 3: So you know, masculine coded in that way.
- 27:23Speaker 1: It's just it it's so interesting to me, and I
- 27:25Speaker 1: watched did you watch all the episodes by the.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Way, Oh god, yeah, oh yeah.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Yeah, Like I mean when first of all, it was
- 27:33Speaker 3: so interesting to.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Have like those dudes, I don't I never never watched
- 27:39Speaker 1: the show, by the way, so like who those three
- 27:41Speaker 1: hadn't watched it before? Yeah, Like those three main military
- 27:44Speaker 1: men just stare at him like like as if he
- 27:48Speaker 1: was an alien, you know, as if they did not
- 27:51Speaker 1: understand the.
- 27:51Speaker 3: Words coming out of his mouth.
- 27:53Speaker 1: You know, like they were so baffled by him, like
- 27:56Speaker 1: by his existence or whatever.
- 27:58Speaker 3: It was so interesting.
- 28:00Speaker 2: It was an interesting study in Cody and masculinity and
- 28:04Speaker 2: his reaction to not being the only man in the room,
- 28:06Speaker 2: certainly not the most mask I mean, Cody's facing down
- 28:09Speaker 2: men that are either the scariest, the hottest, or both
- 28:14Speaker 2: men on the planet. And to watch Cody process this
- 28:18Speaker 2: was fascinating because Cody kind of reverted. There's some debate
- 28:22Speaker 2: and now we're talking about special Forces, but it's relevant.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Some debate on was Cody's breakdown genuine? My thesis was
- 28:28Speaker 2: that Cody's breakdown was genuine because he respected those men
- 28:32Speaker 2: and the force, no pun intended of that respect was
- 28:35Speaker 2: such that all of his walls that he constructs mentally
- 28:39Speaker 2: with Robin were torn down, and he was faced with
- 28:42Speaker 2: the grief and the reality, and people wanted to think, well,
- 28:46Speaker 2: Cody's never genuine. To me, the worst thing is Cody
- 28:50Speaker 2: is capable of being genuine. But one he only did
- 28:52Speaker 2: it because there were these men he respected, and two,
- 28:55Speaker 2: as soon as the pressure was off, he retreated, which
- 28:57Speaker 2: is worse to me to have that capacity. I can
- 29:01Speaker 2: not forgive, but conceptualize and understand. Somebody that is incapable
- 29:05Speaker 2: of something cannot do it differently than somebody who is
- 29:09Speaker 2: capable but does not do it. To me, that is worse.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Does that make sense?
- 29:13Speaker 3: Of course it does to me.
- 29:14Speaker 1: It means like wanting to I guess it's like if
- 29:17Speaker 1: we had seen those breakdowns and then we had known
- 29:20Speaker 1: that from that moment he left and just started the
- 29:25Speaker 1: phone list, honey, going down and saying, I am so
- 29:28Speaker 1: sorry to every child, like you know, like no camera
- 29:32Speaker 1: from leon down, you know what I'm saying, Like you know,
- 29:34Speaker 1: just like the ones that don't talk to each other,
- 29:36Speaker 1: the ones that won't like I don't even care if
- 29:37Speaker 1: you make voicemails, you know, like you just beg people
- 29:41Speaker 1: to forgive you and to let them have a moment
- 29:47Speaker 1: to see that you have done a one a day
- 29:50Speaker 1: and acknowledged it, like if he had come from that
- 29:52Speaker 1: show and done instead of the wife apology tour, a
- 29:56Speaker 1: children apology tour, which is the last thing I'll say.
- 29:58Speaker 3: I think that could be the season twenty one too.
- 30:00Speaker 2: That's what I think we're gonna get. It's not necessarily
- 30:02Speaker 2: what I want. I'm not going to be mad about it,
- 30:04Speaker 2: but I just want more wives. I mean, the show's
- 30:06Speaker 2: called sister Can we get a sister wife? The show
- 30:08Speaker 2: is called Sister Wives? Can we have a sister I
- 30:10Speaker 2: don't think it's too much to ask. I got to
- 30:12Speaker 2: ask you though, because we're going down the list here.
- 30:15Speaker 2: This has been a bit of a rubicon, certainly for
- 30:18Speaker 2: Janelle and we'll get there, but for David. People are
- 30:21Speaker 2: starting to separate in camps with David more clearly based
- 30:26Speaker 2: upon the one on one on one on ones. Have
- 30:28Speaker 2: you noticed this as well?
- 30:30Speaker 3: Well?
- 30:30Speaker 1: Because of the comment people, I think, to me, are
- 30:32Speaker 1: you talking about I think that David's saying that Christine
- 30:36Speaker 1: cuts him off and that he wants to talk more
- 30:38Speaker 1: at the tellaws to me, as a Sister Wives fan, I.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Was like, oh, not necessary, buddy, Oh no, no, no, I'm
- 30:44Speaker 3: so sorry. It's so weird. You're a moot point like
- 30:46Speaker 3: you you know, you could be here or there, you're
- 30:49Speaker 3: there owing it hot. I don't think you're necessary. Your
- 30:52Speaker 3: point of view.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Is the least the least important thing that's going to
- 30:57Speaker 1: be said by anyone, like an I don't even like
- 31:00Speaker 1: as much as I you know, Robin is a villain,
- 31:03Speaker 1: Like I would rather watch Robin's face move and dance
- 31:08Speaker 1: around as she has to react to like questions than
- 31:11Speaker 1: watch and hear David talk period.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Well never mind, No, I want your opinion, please, don't kidding.
- 31:18Speaker 3: I first want I love different opinions.
- 31:20Speaker 2: I'm kidding me, tell me no, no. I David is
- 31:24Speaker 2: an enigma to me, and as somebody that likes to
- 31:28Speaker 2: figure people out professionally, and I have my whole everything.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Part of that's just grown up with like kind of
- 31:33Speaker 2: a weird brain. I learned how to. I had to
- 31:35Speaker 2: kind of overcompensate and figure people out out because they
- 31:38Speaker 2: were not going to figure me out, if that makes sense,
- 31:40Speaker 2: And so that's part of It's not a bad thing.
- 31:42Speaker 2: It's not a bad thing. And there are a lot
- 31:43Speaker 2: of people like me out there and we're very we're
- 31:45Speaker 2: very nice people. You should talk to us. But David
- 31:49Speaker 2: is hard to figure out. And so David interests me
- 31:52Speaker 2: because I think I get him wrong the most. And
- 31:54Speaker 2: I met David briefly at Christine's book signing, and he
- 31:57Speaker 2: couldn't have been sweeter. And I'm a big so if
- 32:00Speaker 2: you're nice to me, or especially if you're nice to
- 32:02Speaker 2: me in person, like, I will forgive way too much
- 32:04Speaker 2: and so take that as a flaw if you need to.
- 32:06Speaker 2: It probably is. But again, I'm Midwestern, like, I'm hardcore
- 32:10Speaker 2: Midwestern nice. Everybody must be nice until they're aggressively awful,
- 32:14Speaker 2: and then it takes me a while. I was a
- 32:16Speaker 2: Robin apologist for years, Cody apologist for years. I've atoned
- 32:21Speaker 2: folks right, people know this, but I wanted to believe
- 32:24Speaker 2: the good things, and so with David, I'm coming up against.
- 32:27Speaker 2: What put me off about David was some of the
- 32:29Speaker 2: terminology that came out where it was like, she's not
- 32:32Speaker 2: your wife, she's my wife, which is true. But what
- 32:36Speaker 2: I saw in David that that bugged me more was
- 32:38Speaker 2: what I saw as maybe some revisionist history, which is
- 32:42Speaker 2: a red flag for me and anybody where David seemed
- 32:45Speaker 2: in the one on one on one on ones way
- 32:48Speaker 2: more upset at Cody's statement of you know, I really
- 32:51Speaker 2: did love you than he was in the moment. And
- 32:54Speaker 2: I'm saying this to you now countering because as you know,
- 32:57Speaker 2: this happens sometimes countering my own takes because I have
- 33:00Speaker 2: thought and processed as I should other people's opinions and
- 33:03Speaker 2: taking them into account and grown and changed. So if
- 33:06Speaker 2: I'm countering what I said on my own podcast, it's
- 33:08Speaker 2: because I have changed my mind, which I should do.
- 33:10Speaker 2: I think that David was I feel like they got
- 33:13Speaker 2: out of that conversation because David was like, yeah, come
- 33:16Speaker 2: to Moab like and then he was like, no, I
- 33:18Speaker 2: would never do that. I think he meant it in
- 33:19Speaker 2: the moment, and I think what happens is he and
- 33:21Speaker 2: Christine got home and they unpacked it. And by the way, Chris,
- 33:25Speaker 2: they are allowed to do this. They reflected on it
- 33:27Speaker 2: became upset later as they because I don't know about
- 33:30Speaker 2: you too, how many times I've had a conversation that
- 33:32Speaker 2: I thought well, at work especially, I thought well, that
- 33:34Speaker 2: was fine, and then I go back and like I'm
- 33:35Speaker 2: in the shower two days later, I'm like, oh, that
- 33:37Speaker 2: was really mean, but I didn't realize it until later
- 33:41Speaker 2: or wait a minute, I'm offended by that, even though
- 33:43Speaker 2: I wasn't in the moment. So I think they got together.
- 33:45Speaker 2: I think they unpacked it. They got kind of mad
- 33:48Speaker 2: and coming on to the one on one on ones
- 33:51Speaker 2: and he was kind of cavemanny me man, me wife,
- 33:55Speaker 2: not talk other man, And it kind of made me
- 33:57Speaker 2: feel like, hmm, this isn't it. This isn't it. And
- 34:00Speaker 2: so I don't know. I don't know if Okay, one
- 34:03Speaker 2: more thing, and I really want you to talk. But
- 34:05Speaker 2: I think that this again, as the relational communication guy,
- 34:08Speaker 2: some relationships function when they have a shared enemy. Have
- 34:12Speaker 2: you ever been in that relationship or known people like
- 34:14Speaker 2: that where they kind of didn't.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Know that romantically okay, surely, yeah, surely, friend wise absolutely yeah.
- 34:21Speaker 2: And then one or one person sometimes can go can
- 34:24Speaker 2: we can we move on from? Like how much we
- 34:26Speaker 2: hate this person? Like don't we have something else that
- 34:27Speaker 2: we could talk about? And I don't think Christina and
- 34:29Speaker 2: David are doing that, but it gave me shape flavors
- 34:31Speaker 2: of that of is your relationship to some degree founded
- 34:35Speaker 2: on and maybe it's not, But is your relationship to
- 34:38Speaker 2: some degree founded on like Cody bad? Because Cody is bad?
- 34:41Speaker 2: But it made me wonder if, like, were they bonding
- 34:43Speaker 2: together by retroactively getting more upset about that situation. I
- 34:47Speaker 2: don't know that was my and I don't know. Those
- 34:50Speaker 2: are just my thoughts.
- 34:51Speaker 3: I love your thoughts, you think, I think they're really interesting.
- 34:53Speaker 3: Here's the thing.
- 34:54Speaker 1: It a lot of things happen season twenty where Janelle
- 34:57Speaker 1: would say things like.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Yeah, David just always has to be right. I like David. No,
- 35:01Speaker 3: I like David a lot, it's just that he's a
- 35:03Speaker 3: little And they've also, like even somewhat, you know, gave
- 35:09Speaker 3: us flavors that there are similarities between Cody and David,
- 35:13Speaker 3: you know, like and that is so interesting, right, Like
- 35:17Speaker 3: that's fact, like they of course, if Cody was listening
- 35:20Speaker 3: to this right now, he and again he doesn't but
- 35:23Speaker 3: to Lisa my podcast, he uh, yours maybe, but he
- 35:27Speaker 3: would be so upset, right. He feels he's so much
- 35:29Speaker 3: more sophisticated than David.
- 35:31Speaker 1: To hear Cody be like, well, he's a construction worker,
- 35:35Speaker 1: Like it was almost classiest kind of like in the
- 35:37Speaker 1: tell also like these.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Not almost you're right.
- 35:40Speaker 1: He feels like he is so much more above David.
- 35:43Speaker 1: He's also like sort of accused David of thinking that
- 35:45Speaker 1: Robin was hot, which I like that was the Remember
- 35:48Speaker 1: when when he was like, yeah, you know, he didn't
- 35:50Speaker 1: want to talk to me, but he kept looking at
- 35:51Speaker 1: Robin when they first met, Like there was a lot
- 35:54Speaker 1: of moments like that. It's the weird thing about it
- 35:56Speaker 1: is you're absolutely right, like this set down happened. Then
- 35:59Speaker 1: the next day they go racing. They don't ever talk
- 36:02Speaker 1: about how awkward this moment is.
- 36:04Speaker 3: And I don't even want to give Cody grace, but
- 36:07Speaker 3: I'm just going to say this, in any other situation,
- 36:10Speaker 3: I would understand that it'd be super awkward to have
- 36:13Speaker 3: a man be like I did love you. Now.
- 36:16Speaker 4: It's just that in the culture these people were in,
- 36:20Speaker 4: they're in a culture where a man can tell someone
- 36:23Speaker 4: they loved someone in front of the romantic partner, because
- 36:27Speaker 4: that's what already happened all day long.
- 36:28Speaker 3: Like it's it's you know, like Cody is used.
- 36:32Speaker 1: To telling someone that he loved or didn't love them
- 36:35Speaker 1: in front of someone else that may or may not
- 36:37Speaker 1: be affected his whole life, you.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Know, like the boundaries of that to him.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Because especially he was raised in polygamy, probably weren't like
- 36:47Speaker 1: as concrete as this, like real possessive kind of monogamous,
- 36:51Speaker 1: like how dare you even look at my woman?
- 36:53Speaker 3: Like? Well he was he had children.
- 36:55Speaker 1: With her, you know, like it's I don't know, I
- 36:57Speaker 1: felt like this again, I'll finish a sense. I felt
- 37:00Speaker 1: like this militant kind of extremist reaction didn't feel natural
- 37:04Speaker 1: to me as someone who wasn't raising polygamist pligamy.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Did you feel that way?
- 37:08Speaker 2: I am rarely over the person giving Cody Brown less
- 37:11Speaker 2: credit than someone else, So this is weird for me.
- 37:13Speaker 2: I kind of didn't. What I took from that is
- 37:16Speaker 2: Cody's the world's most special boy. Cody must must must
- 37:20Speaker 2: give this woman who's been happily married for five hundred years.
- 37:26Speaker 2: I must allow you to now be happy, even though
- 37:31Speaker 2: you're loving on your bald, solid husband for years, having
- 37:35Speaker 2: a great time glowing up. I must release you somehow.
- 37:40Speaker 2: That's was to me the whole and and Chris more importantly,
- 37:45Speaker 2: he tried it out on Janelle and it worked beyond
- 37:49Speaker 2: his wildest expressage.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Yes, Suddie, he had never seen the magic work. I mean,
- 37:52Speaker 1: Janelle gave him the exact rolled out a red carpet
- 37:55Speaker 1: for the apology.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Tour, everything, everything he wanted. He got out of that interaction.
- 38:01Speaker 2: And that's her right if that's how she felt. But
- 38:04Speaker 2: he took from that. Oh I got this down because
- 38:06Speaker 2: he wrote he had a script and he thought. I
- 38:08Speaker 2: think I think Cody he did. He did, he had
- 38:11Speaker 2: it pretty. He's not He's not stupid, but he's not complex.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Does that make sense? And so I think Cody thought, Okay,
- 38:16Speaker 2: I'll push the same buttons the next two wives and
- 38:18Speaker 2: this will work. And then it was like system error
- 38:20Speaker 2: kind of thing. I think it's.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Almost like a standum comedian who like has like who
- 38:24Speaker 1: just kills Opening night, has their bits like Okay, I'll
- 38:28Speaker 1: open with the eye was wrong, I did love you
- 38:30Speaker 1: bit and then I'll you know, like but if you
- 38:32Speaker 1: know that's his modus, and then he gets you know,
- 38:34Speaker 1: he bombs the second night. It's so interesting. The last
- 38:37Speaker 1: thing I'll say about giving him grace because I don't
- 38:40Speaker 1: want to do it.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Okay, I'm mad about it.
- 38:41Speaker 1: Okay, It's just that when I listened to your podcast
- 38:45Speaker 1: and you had Suki on she said, I learned about
- 38:49Speaker 1: the importance of covenants between people or whatever. Okay, And
- 38:52Speaker 1: obviously you know they were in a covenant marriage or whatever,
- 38:55Speaker 1: and that's why Janelle wanted to get a release and
- 38:57Speaker 1: so having me thought of it, and I only thought
- 38:59Speaker 1: of this as listen to your podcast, because if I
- 39:02Speaker 1: don't think of it that way, then I see a
- 39:03Speaker 1: man running around America being like, I need to release
- 39:08Speaker 1: you and agreeing with all these women that he's doing
- 39:10Speaker 1: this for himself so he can release himself of whatever
- 39:14Speaker 1: guilt burden he has because God bless you.
- 39:17Speaker 2: That's what it's about.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Sure, I agree, Okay, at my heart of hearts, I
- 39:20Speaker 1: know that that is what it is.
- 39:21Speaker 3: But I also feel like they didn't quite let.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Us understand that maybe in his mind he's like I
- 39:27Speaker 1: as the head of the household that people. At one point,
- 39:30Speaker 1: I'll believe they were going to gather around me like
- 39:32Speaker 1: a fire marshal when we all get to heaven and
- 39:35Speaker 1: the celestial angels would be around Cody.
- 39:37Speaker 3: This is Team Cody, and you would all come to me.
- 39:39Speaker 3: And so is this my way of being like, I'm sorry,
- 39:44Speaker 3: I no longer okay, have that over.
- 39:47Speaker 1: When we get to heaven. We don't know each other.
- 39:49Speaker 1: We just the strangers passing each other in heaven. Honey,
- 39:52Speaker 1: you know, maybe a smile, you.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Know, like, I'll give him that.
- 39:55Speaker 1: If that's what he was trying to do, you would
- 39:58Speaker 1: have had to have given us information. But they are
- 40:01Speaker 1: not forthcoming with all of their religious beliefs. And I
- 40:04Speaker 1: don't blame them, because no, they're out there. Most religions are,
- 40:08Speaker 1: but you know that's one of them. So yeah, but
- 40:10Speaker 1: it's like it would give me a little more understanding
- 40:12Speaker 1: of what his idea was, because it does look like
- 40:14Speaker 1: he was just like, it's only on me to give
- 40:17Speaker 1: this woman away to this new man when she's when
- 40:19Speaker 1: you're right, she's like, I've been married to him already
- 40:21Speaker 1: for years. Okay, So so basically has Okay, so as
- 40:25Speaker 1: we know, we're talking a little bit. So Christine's whole
- 40:28Speaker 1: thing that happened this season are the following things. A.
- 40:30Speaker 3: She's no longer the matriarch of the family.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Mattie is by way of the farm, and also Janelle is,
- 40:37Speaker 1: but matt it's like Janelle and Maddie taking it up
- 40:39Speaker 1: or whatever.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Yep.
- 40:41Speaker 1: And it's been hard for Christine, who loves to host
- 40:44Speaker 1: things who you know, who's now gets to really only
- 40:46Speaker 1: host like one baby shower and like, you know, a
- 40:49Speaker 1: divorce party for Janelle. The Janelle shows up at with
- 40:52Speaker 1: you know, all of the other basic sister wives that
- 40:55Speaker 1: we can get on the show, like that's your only
- 40:57Speaker 1: version now. Literally the sisters of these wives her in
- 41:00Speaker 1: various stages of marriages, both monogamous and polygamous.
- 41:03Speaker 3: But like there was the German one, honey, I mean,
- 41:05Speaker 3: you know, like so many Christine's sister that was just like,
- 41:07Speaker 3: what is like who? I didn't mind this scene. I
- 41:10Speaker 3: liked Christine.
- 41:10Speaker 2: I loved it. No, David, No, David. I yeah, okay,
- 41:15Speaker 2: I mean it's filler. It's filler, but it's pleasant filler.
- 41:18Speaker 2: You know. It didn't bother me. I like, you know,
- 41:20Speaker 2: Janelle's sister who looks just like Janelle, like like she's
- 41:24Speaker 2: she's beautiful. I mean, they're all beautiful ladies. But I thought,
- 41:26Speaker 2: my gosh, look get this family resemblance, you know. And No,
- 41:29Speaker 2: it was interesting. And Christine, you're right because Christine's mini
- 41:33Speaker 2: arc she had early on in the season, right was
- 41:35Speaker 2: why are my kids moving away?
- 41:36Speaker 3: Kelty and paid and just like yeah, and.
- 41:39Speaker 2: I've they've spoken out. M Kelty's spoken out on that,
- 41:43Speaker 2: and so I'll leave her to that because that's her right.
- 41:45Speaker 2: But as far as the content on the show, that's
- 41:47Speaker 2: a really big identity loss for Christine, because Christine pre
- 41:51Speaker 2: the show, Christine was her space, was the space. It
- 41:54Speaker 2: was sort of the I mean the brown self safe
- 41:56Speaker 2: but like safe space. They had the hangout space, and
- 41:58Speaker 2: Christine was the hangout mom and Christine was the active
- 42:00Speaker 2: mom and the present mom and the teacher and all
- 42:03Speaker 2: that other stuff. And so I do feel for her
- 42:05Speaker 2: because anytime you have that kind of identity loss or
- 42:08Speaker 2: role loss, as the case, maybe even if you welcome it,
- 42:10Speaker 2: you know, even if you want to leave something behind it,
- 42:12Speaker 2: and I don't think Christine did, it's still is hard
- 42:15Speaker 2: anybody gives up a hobby or a sport, or a
- 42:17Speaker 2: career or a location or a relationship, even if you
- 42:20Speaker 2: know I've gotten out of relationships that I was desperate
- 42:23Speaker 2: to get out of and knew I had to get
- 42:25Speaker 2: out of, and I still felt like I mourned it
- 42:28Speaker 2: of I'm so glad that's over, but I'm still sad.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Now.
- 42:31Speaker 2: I might be sad because I thought, wow, I wasted
- 42:33Speaker 2: X amount of years of my life. But or you know,
- 42:35Speaker 2: it's still is like, well, who am I now? If
- 42:36Speaker 2: I'm not with you? I have to figure out who
- 42:39Speaker 2: am I now? If I am not this, if I'm
- 42:41Speaker 2: not an athlete, if I'm not an artist, if I
- 42:42Speaker 2: don't own my own business, if I don't have my podcast,
- 42:45Speaker 2: who am I? And so Christine I was set up
- 42:48Speaker 2: to get more of that, and I think it just
- 42:50Speaker 2: kind of went YadA, YadA, YadA, Let's get in a
- 42:52Speaker 2: weird go kart and drive around. And I thought, okay, okay, fine,
- 42:58Speaker 2: But Christine is pretty settled into what she's doing, and
- 43:01Speaker 2: she's settled into David. And so that's I think part
- 43:04Speaker 2: of why I'm hoping for more Ron content or even
- 43:06Speaker 2: Janelle dating. Not to your point that we keep coming
- 43:09Speaker 2: back to is what is there? Is Aurora? I can't
- 43:11Speaker 2: say her name, Aurora Gonna get married? Would I watch that?
- 43:16Speaker 3: God?
- 43:17Speaker 2: Yes, I would watch that. Okay you wouldn't, Well, I
- 43:18Speaker 2: would watch I'll watch anything. I'll watch Christine Woolly do
- 43:23Speaker 2: the dishes. I don't care like I'm sick, Okay, I'm invested.
- 43:27Speaker 2: I am come. I'm the pig come slop me oink oink.
- 43:30Speaker 2: I don't care. But I'm saying that's me, not with everything,
- 43:33Speaker 2: but with this show. But yeah, Christine and David, I'm
- 43:36Speaker 2: just trying to say, I guess have been other than
- 43:38Speaker 2: the apology tour. They don't mean this negatively, but they
- 43:41Speaker 2: just kind of been there. I felt like this season
- 43:42Speaker 2: they were just kind of there.
- 43:43Speaker 3: I don't have a lot of notes on them, because
- 43:45Speaker 3: you're right, not a lot happened.
- 43:46Speaker 1: They just dressed similar now at well, you know, at
- 43:49Speaker 1: one point she says, he looks nice.
- 43:50Speaker 3: He wears the worst shirts. I really like a.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Na of his shirts that he wears, you know, and
- 43:54Speaker 1: when they're wearing matching shirts, I'm even more upset about it.
- 43:57Speaker 2: This is my surviving Sister Wives blanket. By the way,
- 43:59Speaker 2: if anybody's watching this on video anyway.
- 44:01Speaker 3: I love it. Look at these lambs.
- 44:04Speaker 1: She's not going to talk about a big part of
- 44:06Speaker 1: her life, which is plexus, which is.
- 44:09Speaker 3: Here's a thing.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Doesn't it get weird? Yeah?
- 44:12Speaker 1: The MLM part of Sister Wives is like the like
- 44:15Speaker 1: Basement's Sister Wife that like permeates a lot of the storylines,
- 44:20Speaker 1: but we don't talk about it. So like, for instance,
- 44:22Speaker 1: I had done the deep dive. And you can say
- 44:25Speaker 1: this to be true or not. The reason why Mary
- 44:29Speaker 1: met the person that was the catfish was because that
- 44:32Speaker 1: person was brought to Mary's house by Robin's friend who
- 44:38Speaker 1: was a part of the MLM they were doing at
- 44:41Speaker 1: the time.
- 44:42Speaker 2: I heard that.
- 44:43Speaker 3: Something called like ivy something.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Right.
- 44:46Speaker 3: I don't.
- 44:46Speaker 2: I don't know what any of this stuff. I just
- 44:47Speaker 2: know the pink drink. That's all I know. Plexus, right,
- 44:49Speaker 2: that's the pink drink.
- 44:50Speaker 3: Kink drink is plexus.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Yes, And then we know that, you know, because Mary
- 44:52Speaker 1: does the little Roo roof leggings and yeah, so it's.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Like buttery buttery leggings. You ever owned any of that?
- 44:59Speaker 4: Not?
- 44:59Speaker 3: Never? I don't. Yeah, that's like, yeah, for the reason
- 45:03Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 45:03Speaker 1: I yeah, I don't support imagine not any I don't.
- 45:07Speaker 3: I've never bought any of the MLMs.
- 45:09Speaker 2: I'm not a Lovett, I'm a rube. I'm a mark.
- 45:12Speaker 3: I am also just this is you know what it is? Okay.
- 45:15Speaker 3: First of all, I am above it. I am I
- 45:17Speaker 3: am above it. I'm above it because I don't know
- 45:19Speaker 3: any of the MLMs that have products that I wouldn't
- 45:21Speaker 3: just know a better version of like I can't imagine
- 45:24Speaker 3: the the leggings are better than any like you know,
- 45:28Speaker 3: like Lululemon leggings I would get.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Or I don't think the colors or patterns I've ever
- 45:33Speaker 1: seen are like attractive and then like our bond or
- 45:36Speaker 1: like Mary Kay or any of those like Rodent and Fields,
- 45:39Speaker 1: like I know what skincare and makeup I use honey,
- 45:41Speaker 1: I'm fine, like you know, like I don't need some
- 45:44Speaker 1: older lady in the Midwest and tell me about I'm sorry,
- 45:49Speaker 1: not at all.
- 45:49Speaker 3: I think it's but gobbled.
- 45:51Speaker 2: I'll tell you my very favorite thing, well, one of
- 45:52Speaker 2: my very favorite things about you is you're like me.
- 45:55Speaker 2: I can, I can. I can just put a nickel
- 45:57Speaker 2: on you on something and you go, You're just like me,
- 45:59Speaker 2: Like ask me a question about anything unrelated, I'll see
- 46:03Speaker 2: in ten minutes. I'm good. I so relate to you
- 46:06Speaker 2: about that. I love that. And when I say I'm
- 46:08Speaker 2: not above it, what I mean is I would probably.
- 46:11Speaker 2: I'm the kind of person that it's really lucky I
- 46:13Speaker 2: didn't somehow join a cult because I could just see
- 46:15Speaker 2: myself with the best of intentions accident am I somebody
- 46:18Speaker 2: that would accidentally join a cult. It's really just happenstance
- 46:22Speaker 2: that I didn't. Nobody's tried because it probably would have worked,
- 46:26Speaker 2: That's what I mean. So anyway, that's fun to who
- 46:31Speaker 2: are we talking about now? Who are we talking about? Now?
- 46:32Speaker 2: I'm having fun.
- 46:33Speaker 1: We know where we're getting off of Christina David. We've
- 46:36Speaker 1: talked about Mary, talk about Christina David. Obviously, there's not
- 46:38Speaker 1: that much to talk about, and so let's move on
- 46:41Speaker 1: to Janelle and then we'll finish up.
- 46:42Speaker 3: With the Cody and Robins.
- 46:44Speaker 1: So basically with Janelle, you know, the very beginning is
- 46:48Speaker 1: we know that she's moving on with Maddie to the farm.
- 46:51Speaker 1: The farm looks great, and she gets to like, you know,
- 46:52Speaker 1: give up the Coiddie pass life and just put just
- 46:54Speaker 1: transfer that whole dream to North Carolina. But you know,
- 46:58Speaker 1: it's it's longer to get the permits than she wants.
- 47:01Speaker 1: We get introduced to two of her friends that are
- 47:03Speaker 1: obviously from an MLM this season, people that you're like,
- 47:07Speaker 1: well that, you know, how would you be friends? You know,
- 47:09Speaker 1: like just but we never talk about that. They're just
- 47:11Speaker 1: friends from Arizona, Like Okay, one tragically passes away.
- 47:15Speaker 3: I know, but we see those people. Oh my god, No,
- 47:18Speaker 3: you didn't know that. No, Ab the nod As Chatty one.
- 47:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh that's so sad.
- 47:26Speaker 3: Yeah it really is anyway, so so sad.
- 47:30Speaker 1: So but Janelle, like you know, hangs out with them
- 47:33Speaker 1: and they're like, you got to get back out there,
- 47:34Speaker 1: and Janelle's like, I, you know, I would like to
- 47:37Speaker 1: maybe be a little more spontaneous or whatever. She wants
- 47:40Speaker 1: to get the spiritual release. Now she has had the
- 47:43Speaker 1: following She's had a FaceTime with Cody and Mary in
- 47:46Speaker 1: the beginning, and we know that they're trying to sell
- 47:47Speaker 1: Coyote Pass even though Robin keeps going out there and
- 47:50Speaker 1: putting her good juju, which we just know is the
- 47:52Speaker 1: opposite of what that is. But at the same time,
- 47:55Speaker 1: Janelle now wants to have a conversation with Mary that
- 47:58Speaker 1: I find fascinating, which is, I know we're not really close.
- 48:02Speaker 1: In fact, I barely talked to you, and a lot
- 48:05Speaker 1: of my kids don't like you, but I need you
- 48:09Speaker 1: to make the first phone call to get me this
- 48:11Speaker 1: spiritual release. And Mary is loving, very loving towards Janelle
- 48:15Speaker 1: on this phone call and absolutely does for this whole
- 48:18Speaker 1: backdoor deal.
- 48:19Speaker 3: To suddenly be the last next part of their situation.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Like, I feel like this is such an interesting timeline,
- 48:25Speaker 1: Like Christine the way that is, Christine Mary don't talk.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Obviously they don't like each other. Janelle Christine obviously talk,
- 48:32Speaker 1: but they've moved on from how close they were in
- 48:35Speaker 1: the last season to this season, where as we said,
- 48:37Speaker 1: Janelle has moved half the family across and has taken
- 48:40Speaker 1: the matriarch of role away from Christine. They also worked
- 48:44Speaker 1: in an MLM together, and so when Christine says that
- 48:47Speaker 1: Janelle left and they had some business deals and business
- 48:50Speaker 1: workings that they've had to stop, it's the MLM. So
- 48:53Speaker 1: I feel like they've also had a shift in their
- 48:55Speaker 1: relationship Mary. You know, so Mary is talking to Janelle
- 48:58Speaker 1: at this point, is the only sister Whey she's talking to,
- 49:00Speaker 1: because she's not talking to Robin. And obviously they used
- 49:03Speaker 1: to be close as well. And obviously we had ended
- 49:05Speaker 1: on Janelle and Cody being closed last season, and obviously
- 49:08Speaker 1: now because of the conversations about jen Cody and Robin aren't.
- 49:12Speaker 1: So it's just to have Mary and Janelle have this
- 49:15Speaker 1: conversation with the spiritual release in such a loving way
- 49:18Speaker 1: was kind of like a little surprising to me, especially
- 49:21Speaker 1: how we know it turns out.
- 49:22Speaker 3: How about to you?
- 49:23Speaker 2: I mean I liked it surprising. Yeah, I think that
- 49:26Speaker 2: Mary genuinely wanted to help Janelle. I think Mary probably
- 49:30Speaker 2: I like many people like me, when somebody wants to
- 49:33Speaker 2: pursue a similar life change that you have already done,
- 49:36Speaker 2: that feels good and you want to shepherd them through
- 49:37Speaker 2: it because a you care about them, be you want
- 49:40Speaker 2: what's best for them. And also see, it's validating of
- 49:42Speaker 2: your own choices. Everybody likes that. That does not make
- 49:46Speaker 2: you a bit, validating of your heath. That does not
- 49:47Speaker 2: make you a bad person. That's okay. I don't think
- 49:51Speaker 2: it's the primary the only reason, but I think Mary
- 49:53Speaker 2: felt because you saw this also somewhat with Christine, where
- 49:55Speaker 2: Christine would kind of say to Janelle, for Mary, well,
- 49:58Speaker 2: you need to get picked back out there, like it's
- 49:59Speaker 2: so good, it's so good to get out there and date.
- 50:01Speaker 2: You really need to do that. I think I think
- 50:03Speaker 2: it was last season and I think at the Sprinkle
- 50:05Speaker 2: or whatever, and I think Christine meant that. I also
- 50:07Speaker 2: think on some level Christine was trying to validate her
- 50:10Speaker 2: own life choices, which people do. Again, that is not bad, folks,
- 50:14Speaker 2: but it's okay to talk about, and it's okay to
- 50:17Speaker 2: acknowledge because I've done that. It's like when I have
- 50:21Speaker 2: people that are asking should they go to graduate school?
- 50:23Speaker 2: I have to temper part of my enthusiasm because and
- 50:26Speaker 2: I have to look clear eyed of like is that
- 50:28Speaker 2: good for you? Because there's a part of me that's like, Okay,
- 50:30Speaker 2: this was so good for me, it must be good
- 50:31Speaker 2: for you. I'm going to give you the hard sell.
- 50:33Speaker 2: And I'm aware that I shouldn't do that because I
- 50:36Speaker 2: don't want to position anybody to not have what they need.
- 50:38Speaker 2: And so that's just one example. So I think those
- 50:41Speaker 2: part of it, as Mary is like absolutely because this
- 50:44Speaker 2: was so good for me and it's validating and that
- 50:46Speaker 2: was so interesting. And I said this on my podcast,
- 50:49Speaker 2: I really appreciate it to your earlier point because they
- 50:51Speaker 2: don't talk about this. I appreciate it how frank Janelle was.
- 50:54Speaker 2: And we'll get into the things about Janell I did
- 50:56Speaker 2: not appreciate this season, because there's a few, but I
- 50:58Speaker 2: appreciated how frank she was. Of look, just in case
- 51:00Speaker 2: I don't want to be tied spiritually. I love that
- 51:03Speaker 2: she was open about her spiritual concerns. I thought that
- 51:06Speaker 2: was vulnerable, and I appreciated the transparency because we don't
- 51:10Speaker 2: typically get that about the AUB, about the tenets of
- 51:14Speaker 2: their faith. Ninety nine percent of what I know I've
- 51:17Speaker 2: learned from notes to sell four four four on YouTube,
- 51:19Speaker 2: So it was nice to hear Janelle be frank about
- 51:22Speaker 2: her spiritual concerns. You know, I don't relate that. I
- 51:24Speaker 2: appreciated that vulnerability, and I have to talk about Janelle.
- 51:29Speaker 2: So I'm a backdoor, backdoor Dell Truther. This is my
- 51:33Speaker 2: current hyperfixation. Here's my view and it folks, it's only
- 51:36Speaker 2: my view, and I'm wrong a lot. I think. One
- 51:40Speaker 2: Janelle pitched to Cody in a moment of frustration because
- 51:43Speaker 2: she felt Mary was dragging her feet, and Janelle felt,
- 51:46Speaker 2: we're going to lose this deal. I think Janelle said
- 51:48Speaker 2: to Cody, listen, we can just force this deal, give
- 51:51Speaker 2: Mary her money, give her everything that's owed, and we
- 51:54Speaker 2: can just do it without Mary, because Mary is always
- 51:56Speaker 2: dragging her feet. Mary always does this. This is my
- 52:00Speaker 2: money too. We're not going to cut her out of
- 52:02Speaker 2: any money. Let's just push it through Cody took that
- 52:06Speaker 2: to Robin. Robin took that to Cody. They weaponized it.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Janelle is savvy enough to go, there's no backdoor deal. Yes,
- 52:13Speaker 2: but that's what she said. Yeah, I mean yeah, I brought
- 52:15Speaker 2: it up to Cody because I think she did, and
- 52:17Speaker 2: I don't think. I think two things can be true.
- 52:19Speaker 2: Janelle brought up can we force this sale? And also
- 52:22Speaker 2: Janelle was not going to cut Mary out of any money?
- 52:25Speaker 2: So is that kind of crappy? Yeah, but Janelle is
- 52:28Speaker 2: a pragmatist. Janelle's not an emotional thinker. Janelle's a pragmatic
- 52:33Speaker 2: thinker to a fault. Some people would say, that's my
- 52:36Speaker 2: view on it. What do you think?
- 52:37Speaker 3: I love it. She's honey, She's tefloon queen, She's the
- 52:40Speaker 3: teflong queen.
- 52:42Speaker 1: I agree, Like I think, you know, Mary's name wasn't
- 52:45Speaker 1: on the properties the way it should be. It was
- 52:48Speaker 1: such a messy situation of how they decided to do
- 52:51Speaker 1: the percentages that I think there was a part of Cody,
- 52:54Speaker 1: who also, you know, like doesn't love to think literally,
- 52:59Speaker 1: I can't even talk this word linear.
- 53:02Speaker 3: He's not a linear person. He doesn't think that way.
- 53:05Speaker 1: He's a little you know, no diversion, So am I
- 53:07Speaker 1: So I think that Cody's all over the place and
- 53:08Speaker 1: so yeah, so I think that Cody to have to
- 53:10Speaker 1: do all the things work, get the deeds right, that
- 53:12Speaker 1: I have to like put all the money right and
- 53:13Speaker 1: get make sure that everything, Like I think that was
- 53:15Speaker 1: so much so that if there was let's just say
- 53:18Speaker 1: this is not the numbers, let's just sell all of
- 53:20Speaker 1: it together. Let's get twelve million, and let's just divide
- 53:23Speaker 1: twelve million more than me. Having to do all the
- 53:25Speaker 1: paperwork of this, this right, and this right because of the
- 53:27Speaker 1: equity and breocracy of all the paperwork could have been
- 53:29Speaker 1: a little overwhelming for him, he b During the tell all,
- 53:33Speaker 1: it becomes clear that during the marriage that both Janelle
- 53:38Speaker 1: and Cody had an understanding that for them it was
- 53:44Speaker 1: difficult to deal with Mary, like right, like this is
- 53:48Speaker 1: this brings up like so during the tell alls we really.
- 53:50Speaker 3: Get into this.
- 53:51Speaker 1: Mary's obviously the first wife Janelle gets, you know involved.
- 53:55Speaker 1: The way that Janelle gets involved is that Janelle was
- 53:57Speaker 1: married to Mary's brother and they breakup. He dies later
- 54:01Speaker 1: but not before they break up, and then Janelle sees
- 54:05Speaker 1: Cody and Mary around they kind of talk to the
- 54:09Speaker 1: elders of the church is how Janelle describes it, which
- 54:11Speaker 1: is like, you know, she has to let people know
- 54:16Speaker 1: that she's available in the church, and then people make
- 54:20Speaker 1: their appropriate decisions, and there's a little scent in the
- 54:25Speaker 1: air for the church to know that people are interested
- 54:29Speaker 1: in each other. And then of course Janelle marys Cody.
- 54:32Speaker 1: Mary is upset because it's going to happen on her birthday,
- 54:36Speaker 1: and she is like, live it about that. When Janelle
- 54:38Speaker 1: gets into the family, they start to fight because Janelle
- 54:43Speaker 1: doesn't always want to wash all of the dishes by
- 54:47Speaker 1: nightfall and then I'll do the next morning and then
- 54:50Speaker 1: that's and then yeah, obviously they would fight about it.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Mary and Janelle and Cody would hear it, and Cody
- 54:57Speaker 1: would not be like, you know what, let's sit down,
- 54:59Speaker 1: ladies and have a conversation. As the head of household,
- 55:02Speaker 1: as the person that has to facilitate communications.
- 55:04Speaker 2: That is so irritating to me, by the way, No, yes, sorry.
- 55:07Speaker 1: This is I mean, this is his view, like he
- 55:09Speaker 1: he knows, Hey, I'm not saying this is good or bad,
- 55:11Speaker 1: but in his mind he knows he should do this.
- 55:14Speaker 1: Like in his mind, I'm assuming he understands that in
- 55:17Speaker 1: this traditional gender role, he is the head of household, okay,
- 55:20Speaker 1: like in a big brother way, and he is kind
- 55:21Speaker 1: of like supposed to be the judge. Let's see, Mary,
- 55:25Speaker 1: do you know Okay, what I'm hearing is you want
- 55:28Speaker 1: to have a clean house to go to bed, Janelle,
- 55:30Speaker 1: is there a reason why you don't always get the dishes?
- 55:32Speaker 1: You need more help doing that? Like, he didn't do
- 55:35Speaker 1: any of that. Instead, he was like, I don't want
- 55:36Speaker 1: to deal with you guys. You guys, deal with you guys,
- 55:38Speaker 1: hash it out, and he left and they didn't hash
- 55:40Speaker 1: it out and so all but no, but Cody knows
- 55:44Speaker 1: that Mary yells a lot, and so over the years
- 55:47Speaker 1: Janelle has let things go. Cody's realized that Janelle is
- 55:50Speaker 1: the least hard, hard one to deal with. And so
- 55:53Speaker 1: I think that when we get to the Cody pass deal,
- 55:56Speaker 1: there's just years of Janelle and you know, Cody being like, iky,
- 56:00Speaker 1: how do we do it? So it's just easy, especially
- 56:02Speaker 1: with Mary.
- 56:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so too. I think they wanted it
- 56:05Speaker 2: done and Mary, whether it's the NDA and I don't
- 56:08Speaker 2: even you know the NDA, whatever?
- 56:11Speaker 3: Can you talk about that? Can you just explain that
- 56:13Speaker 3: in your idea of what that was.
- 56:14Speaker 2: I don't know. It's weird.
- 56:18Speaker 3: It's why would only be married signing?
- 56:20Speaker 2: I don't think it was only married, didn't Janelle kind
- 56:23Speaker 2: of say, yeah, I signed it, but I had to
- 56:24Speaker 2: get them to change a couple of things. But because
- 56:26Speaker 2: she said something like, I mean, we're all talking about
- 56:27Speaker 2: it now, so I guess I'm not held to it anymore.
- 56:29Speaker 2: I think she said that. And one of the one
- 56:31Speaker 2: on one on one on ones. Yeah, but there's a lot.
- 56:33Speaker 3: Of did Christine have does Christine wrote a book?
- 56:35Speaker 2: So? Did Christine? Wasn't a part of the sale she had?
- 56:38Speaker 3: It was only about the part of the sale, Okay.
- 56:39Speaker 2: Yeah, because that was part of it. And I think
- 56:42Speaker 2: it's books. I think it's I don't know, it's something, Robin.
- 56:46Speaker 2: I don't know. They're they're trying to avoid something getting out.
- 56:51Speaker 2: They don't and what I don't know, And I don't
- 56:53Speaker 2: even I don't even know what to hypothesize. I don't
- 56:55Speaker 2: even know what to guess. I have no idea.
- 56:57Speaker 3: It's weird, rob or about what is it? Or about
- 57:01Speaker 3: both of them.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Bought their money. I think it was they didn't want
- 57:05Speaker 2: Mary coming back and making any kind of claim to
- 57:08Speaker 2: manisphere manner where they are right now, the house they
- 57:11Speaker 2: built on the sulfur fart mine. I think that Mary
- 57:15Speaker 2: gave them all that money which went into as I
- 57:18Speaker 2: call it, the Animal Crossing Chateau, their previous home, because
- 57:22Speaker 2: it looks like my house in Animal Crossing with all
- 57:23Speaker 2: the random paintings and statues and crab that's the deep
- 57:26Speaker 2: level podcast reference. Sorry, and that's my assumption, and it's
- 57:30Speaker 2: not a very good one. But is Robin wanted, basically
- 57:33Speaker 2: Mary to never ever bring up that Mary gave them
- 57:36Speaker 2: a butt whack of money that is the only reason
- 57:39Speaker 2: why they have their previous home and therefore use the
- 57:42Speaker 2: equity to get in their current home, which are now
- 57:44Speaker 2: using the equity to take out a three quarter of
- 57:47Speaker 2: a million dollar lean. I guess I don't know. I've
- 57:50Speaker 2: never been the biggest Brown Family finances guy. There are
- 57:53Speaker 2: people like Amanda in particular, if we love to hate everything,
- 57:56Speaker 2: that just did an entire breakdown of the Brown Family
- 57:58Speaker 2: finances because she's brilliant that kind of brain. I'm a dabbler,
- 58:02Speaker 2: and the finances I'm not the expert. But as you know,
- 58:05Speaker 2: as we talked about on this podcast and off Chris.
- 58:07Speaker 2: You can get as deep into this as you want.
- 58:09Speaker 2: There is law upon law upon law with Sister Wise.
- 58:14Speaker 2: It's not about the show, it's about everything else. You know.
- 58:17Speaker 2: The show is the hook. It's the puzzles that you
- 58:20Speaker 2: get to puzzle through on the internet with your friends
- 58:22Speaker 2: that really makes What is your favorite law preston Robin's X.
- 58:27Speaker 1: Like whether he yeah, who he was, like why he
- 58:30Speaker 1: gave up the fatherhood, paternity like all that stuff.
- 58:34Speaker 2: Yeah, but I also don't want to know because he
- 58:38Speaker 2: has been silent and good for him. I respect that.
- 58:41Speaker 2: I respect his silence selfishly, and I'm not proud of this.
- 58:46Speaker 2: I want to know everything. I want to know what
- 58:47Speaker 2: was Robin, like, what was their finances? Like what was
- 58:50Speaker 2: was the victorious secret credit card? She was maxing out
- 58:53Speaker 2: because she in season I've just started rewatching season five
- 58:57Speaker 2: and she's crying, going, I was abused. He abused me.
- 59:00Speaker 2: And I'm not going to come out here in front
- 59:01Speaker 2: of God and everybody and say a woman saying she
- 59:03Speaker 2: was abused wasn't. But okay, that's a bold statement. The
- 59:06Speaker 2: purity talk where he begged and begged for her purity
- 59:10Speaker 2: and ruined it and all this other stuff. She's had
- 59:14Speaker 2: a platform in front of millions of people to give
- 59:16Speaker 2: a very one sided, as Robin always does, very one
- 59:19Speaker 2: sided account of that.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Man.
- 59:20Speaker 2: I just would like to know what his side of
- 59:22Speaker 2: it is, and I never will, and again good for him,
- 59:25Speaker 2: he does not owe me that. But again, selfishly, that's
- 59:28Speaker 2: what I want to know.
- 59:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's hard because one thought of is like, well,
- 59:33Speaker 1: if that's not sure, you could sue, but then you
- 59:34Speaker 1: would have to then you know, showcase every morsel of
- 59:37Speaker 1: your marriage.
- 59:38Speaker 3: This in a very you know, related situation.
- 59:41Speaker 1: I'm obsessed with the Etsy dolls or the American Girl dolls,
- 59:44Speaker 1: like my Dream twenty first.
- 59:46Speaker 2: Season, You're in good company.
- 59:48Speaker 1: I wish that she would go through every doll and
- 59:52Speaker 1: tell us about them and play with them in front
- 59:55Speaker 1: of us, and like, you know, like and in the
- 59:57Speaker 1: season when we got to see just like the armoir
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: with the doll inside, like I am obsessed with, like
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: taking screenshots and looking at the dolls and the armor.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: There's a lot of moments of Robin that I have
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: and where I put the pictures on my YouTube in
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: past episodes where she's standing in front of the armoir
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: with the doll there, and what she's doing is like
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: pulling down what you know, I have deep insecurity about
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: my turkey neck or whatever. But like what she's doing
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: is this like the ways in which Robin has to
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: you know, ground herself, I wonder in order to move
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: through her daily life with Cody and everything I find fascinating.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: As to move on to their last parts, the parts
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: of the season with Cody and Robin. Yes, as you know,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: as we've kind of said, they pack and move from
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: your animal crossing home to on the solfur to like
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: it's a very nineties looking brownwood castle, you know, like
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: that's how I would describe it, you know, like, yeah,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: they Besides this one packing situation, they also go on
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: many awkward dates to different restaurants. One was like a
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: whole naked woman's behind Cody, Like I don't know why
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: they decided to sit them at that table, like an
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: artistic piece of naked womanhood. I like the naked womanhood.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: But hilarious to me that the cameraman's like this is
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: the entire shot of this entire scene is like Cody's
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: back to this naked woman like looking at Robin making
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: awkward sexual jokes, and Robin has to constantly be like,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I don't like it when he does this in public.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: I'm much more demure.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: I hate it, but he he doesn't find it as
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: uncomfortable as me.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: He always does it.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: They the ways in which they express romance for each
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: other is so interesting, but the ways in which they
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: also feed into each other is.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: Yes, these are in most ways seemingly foundationally incompatible human beings.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: That's what's so weird. They do not seem compatible in
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: any way other. They do not talk the same, act
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: the same, display affection the same. The thing is, they
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: absolve each other of responsibility for everything, and maybe when
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: the cameras are off they have a great old time
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: and she's the best customer and no thank you, daddy.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: But you know, it's it is what it is they
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: have been for me. It's so funny because you know
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: this when I drop Robin and or Cody content to
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: promote my podcast ten to one hundred times better than
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: anything else I do, and yet to me, they are
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: the part of the show that I'm always like, Okay,
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: I have a joke, and it's not a joke. But
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: when Robin first comes on screen, every time every episode,
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: I just kind.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: Of go oh.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: I don't mean to I'm not trying to be mean.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: I just kind of go oh, I don't want to
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: hear this. But they drive the show. People's dislike for
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: them drives the show.
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: Mm hmm. Yeah, that is a toxic part.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: But yeah, because she is always negative, She's always upset.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: Her face is always in a frown, you know, like
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: and she you know, she's always talking about the real
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: dill and the big picture and like, you know, who
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: knows if she's ever known any of those true things.
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: To see the.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Difference in how she used to look at Cody, how
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: her eyes used to do this thing where she would
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: flirt with him. He was so obvious, like she would
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: she really would like bat And I like, looking back
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: at how textbook her like flirtatiousness with him is, it's
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: so different now, like she frowns and rolls her eyes
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: and can't stand him so obviously that it's palpable. Like
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: you said this, they don't act at all like each other.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: And I'm even gonna say since they've been married, and
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: since they've obviously picked each other so hardcore, they've gotten.
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: More and more different.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: And Cody has like put her higher and higher on
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: a pedestal, where at first maybe she was like, you know,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: like the new hot wife and the shy pretty wife,
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: and now she's like the compass of the entire family.
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: And he himself always feels like that she.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Has abandoned him and that she hates him for his choices,
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: like she somehow manipulated him to a point now where
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: he feels like he needs her approval over Andy.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: Well, he's afraid. He's terrified to be left by Robin.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: Her.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: The grip that she's had on him is my like
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: absolute utter fascination.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: I wish I could like study it with her.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: I wish you could, Like I wish she would just
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: be one hundred percent owning of it and then just
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: be like, Okay, this is what happened. I saw him
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: in church, and I knew I looked hot that day,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: so I gave him the eye and I let him
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: think that like he had seen me first one obviously
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: I did. And then after that I started talking to
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: Mary at the brunch because I knew I had to
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: get to Mary, like, you know, you're just like, okay,
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: You're just like I think that's so interesting, Okay, so
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: as you know, you brought it up, or or was
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: going to get married, and so some of the other
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: things had happened through.
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: Robin know that.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: I don't know that.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Robin is like, let me tell you about men. Every
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: single lady sees married men and they drool. That's what
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: happened to me. When I first saw Cody and he
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: was already married in church, honey, I.
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: Was just like, give me that.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: And once he did. Once, God was like, you know what,
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: why don't you get with that one. I couldn't talk
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: for thirty minutes.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: What was that?
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: I need your I need now, I need your opinion.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: Please prison, They should all be in prison. Gross. What
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: do you want me to say to that?
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: I couldn't you.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: But but okay, but this is my point. Robin likes
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: and is passionate about Cody as a story. Cody is
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: a person I think she finds off putting in most
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: of all, exhausting. When Robin talks about the Cody of
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: the past as an illustrative tool to shape her daughter,
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: Cody is amazing when she talks about Cody in the
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: past to the cameras though she was on defense and
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: she was you know, victimized in certain ways by various people.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: Robin's reality is so malleable, it's so fluid, it's whatever
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: it needs to be to serve any kind of discordant purpose,
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: completely different from her other purposes. I just think she's
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: done with him. I think she's done with him. I
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: think she's sick of him. I think she's done. So
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: I really can't wait complete one to eighty from where
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: we started this an hour ago. I'm ready for season
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: twenty one now. I just talked myself into it. I'm ready.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: Do you think that she would leave him? And do
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: you think he would leave her first?
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: I think she would have to leave him unless they
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: took on another wife, which I don't think they will.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: I do not see Cody leaving her. I do not
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: not now, no way. I think Cody's biggest fear is
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: being left by her, because then what is he The
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: only thing worse than being divorced three times for Cody
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: is divorced four times. That's that's the only way is
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: life can get worse in terms of his marital relationships.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: Are not going to allude to anything else.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: Right, because, like the truth of the matter is, at
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: this point, they can just be like we chose each other. Okay,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: So to wrap this up, obviously, Robin gets a lot
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: of like, I don't play these girl games, and the
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: girl games are Janelle and Mary just basically being like.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: Can you believe that we had to deal with this one?
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: Sometimes like they're not They're just talking and that is
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: supposed to be like Robin not subscribing. And I mean Robin, no,
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: I as I said, Mary, all the wives are have
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: different places with each other. You know, Robin and Mary
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: used to be close, and Mary, you know, knew about
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: the cat fish situation and also told Cody and or
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: maybe her friend that knew the catfish person, and therefore
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: Mary would find out things that she had only told Robin.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: And then also Cody came at Mary, and so no
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: one trusts Robin. But but Cody's like, my wife's cheating
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: on me and how to deal with that? And the
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: Calfish thing happened before the Dark Time that happened in Vegas.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: So if Cody had not abandoned Mary, maybe the Cafish
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: situation would have happened, or would it. Leon knew about
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: the caf Ash situation being a catfish before and told
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Mary and Mary was like, no, and that's why they
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: had issues.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: That is it.
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: I mean I don't there's not that's not it, obviously,
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: But I mean, how much longer can I keep you?
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: You know, like we could talk about this show and
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: the possibilities and the cycle cycle, analyze everyone and their choices,
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: and I really would like and we'd't even get on
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: to like how Leon and Maddie don't even talk and want,
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: you know, like and who lets each other. But like,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: I know, there's literally so much. I do think they
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: should have a season twenty one, but I think they're
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: going to have to find ways to get people together.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: I hope. So we've been saying that for five years,
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: so I don't know. I hope, So we'll see. I'm
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: holding out hope. I'll watch whatever they I'll watch whatever
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: they give me. But anybody listen to this. If you disagree,
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: good by all means, in all seriousness, because I get
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: comments every day and I hate the show. I wish
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: they cancel it. And if you feel that way, I understand,
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: So just don't engage. That's the best thing you can do,
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: is if it's doesn't if you don't like it, don't engage.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: And I understand because most people don't want the show over.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: They want the show to be good. That's what they mean.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: I think it's not I don't want the show to end.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: Is that I want the show to be enjoyable. That's
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: what I want. And so maybe you know, think about
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: that if you feel that way, because maybe I'm right,
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: maybe I'm not.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: What a pleasure it was to do like a special
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: collab episode where we get to discuss the entire season,
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: the tell alls and let's just be honest, the entire
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: universe that is Sister Wives.
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: It's been an absolute gift. Thank you so much.
