- 0:18Speaker 1: Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast.
- 0:20Speaker 1: We've been sitting here for the past 45 minutes, you know, with technical issues, but we're back on track.
- 0:24Speaker 1: We're in here.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Rob and I have just been kind of humming that song.
- 0:27Speaker 1: What's the name of that song, rob?
- 0:28Speaker 1: What was it?
- 0:29Speaker 1: You said it was Tom's diner, tom's diner.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Whatever you know, the Do it Do it Do it.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Do it.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Does anybody know the lyrics to that song?
- 0:39Speaker 1: To the lyrics.
- 0:39Speaker 1: That because I don't know.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I feel like I know the lyrics but I don't know the lyrics.
- 0:41Speaker 1: That song I've been sitting by a window with my coffee on the table Like I don't know what it is.
- 0:47Speaker 1: But if you know what it is, put it in the comments, if there is comments I don't know if we have that.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Anyway, we're here on episode I don't know 148 or whatever it is we have.
- 0:55Speaker 2: We're getting up there apparently according in Liam's head anyway.
- 0:58Speaker 1: It's all fucking over the place.
- 1:00Speaker 1: It's so bad.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Next episode will be like a thousand six hundred and forty nine.
- 1:05Speaker 1: And it'll go back down.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Now let's go back down to like four.
- 1:07Speaker 1: All right, we have gaps on this time.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Gabs, why don't you introduce yourself a little bit, because we're not good at that, so you should do it.
- 1:17Speaker 3: OK, my name is Gabriel.
- 1:18Speaker 3: My nickname is Gables.
- 1:20Speaker 3: I'm a registered dietitian.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I've been a registered dietitian for like three years and, yeah, I met both of them on Tick Tock.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I like to debunk as well and I like to talk about good health and everything too.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Yes, and that is what we're going to talk about today.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Because, because, gables, I'm going to be honest with you.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I'm going to be 100 percent honest with you when I'm on the Tick Tock and I see somebody say the Tick Tock when I see somebody say, hey, I'm here to help out with gut health.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Literally every red flag like all the red flags Just when you got to tag red flag guy in that it's.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I just see that it's like the ceiling collapses from the weight of all the red flags.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah, because, like, at the end of the day, we don't really understand so much about the gut microbiome.
- 2:07Speaker 1: So when people say they're like I'm an expert in gut health, I'm like bullshit you are.
- 2:11Speaker 1: But I actually have watched your stuff and I'm like, oh, actually she does know some things and that's awesome.
- 2:17Speaker 1: So I this episode, I definitely want to talk about gut health and the like actual, factual, actual factual.
- 2:25Speaker 1: God, I like that actual, factual information.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I also just feel like that's what kind of sucks for me.
- 2:32Speaker 3: I feel like gut health has become something that I would usually be like I'm not going to listen to this because it's just like a fad.
- 2:39Speaker 3: But in general it's just like I work with gastrointestinal diseases but it's like I understand the gut because of that.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I just think people assume God health is just like.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Oh, I'm not bloated anymore when it's like there's everybody has IVS these days.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so great, so, so OK.
- 2:56Speaker 1: So last time we with with Shiloh last week, we talked a lot about fiber.
- 3:00Speaker 1: We kind of hit the the toilet bowl with the plunger.
- 3:02Speaker 1: You know we weren't backed up with information at all.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Everything just went through other poop puns that I'm missing I don't know 10 out of 10 poop puns and poop puns you know, well done the bat.
- 3:14Speaker 1: So we talked a lot about fiber, but I definitely want to, you know, like talk about some of the other things that's important, like was born with gut health, Rob.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Where do you think we should start with the gut health?
- 3:24Speaker 1: What are you thinking?
- 3:26Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 3:26Speaker 2: We could talk leaky gut, just like leaky.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Everybody is always leaky gut.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Holy shit, Gables.
- 3:32Speaker 1: What the fuck is up with leaky gut and why does everyone have it?
- 3:37Speaker 3: OK, I mean essentially they have it, because essentially, leaky gut is just you have.
- 3:42Speaker 3: So we have good bacteria in our gut and then we sometimes have bad bacteria in our gut, and that's what we are essentially pooping out at the end of the day.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Leaky gut is essentially it's basically saying the bad gut bacteria.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Instead of shitting it out or sweating it out, it's saying where, where your good gut bacteria into us.
- 4:04Speaker 1: They're like leaks into our bodies.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I think that's kind of an obvious question Is where does it leak into us or does it leak out the other?
- 4:13Speaker 1: end, at least everywhere.
- 4:14Speaker 1: It's just leaky.
- 4:15Speaker 1: There's a sink with so many holes.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Like I've learned about this a lot, but I also know it's kind of like we're not quite like quite sure about really the definition of it.
- 4:26Speaker 3: So I kind of just steered away from saying people have leaky gut, because I feel like you can just say anyone has leaky gut.
- 4:30Speaker 3: And I just mean do you have the bad bacteria?
- 4:32Speaker 3: You have more bad bacteria than good gut bacteria in your gut.
- 4:36Speaker 1: It seems like one of those things where there's like maybe some truth to it in a way, but people just take it and blow it out of proportion, like, oh, gluten causes leaky gut because people who have, you know, celiac disease or whatever gluten intolerance you know they have issues with it.
- 4:49Speaker 1: So everyone has issues.
- 4:50Speaker 1: That's what.
- 4:50Speaker 1: That's what I feel like it is.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Yeah, the.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I feel like it's definitely a term that's medically it doesn't really exist, Like it's just this kind of weird symptom that we haven't really defined, but in social media it's become one of those fear mongering terms.
- 5:11Speaker 1: It's something you yell about with your shirt off.
- 5:13Speaker 1: That's basically what leaky gut is, yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like um, so we eat foods.
- 5:20Speaker 3: There's a lot of toxins in our foods.
- 5:22Speaker 3: There's a lot of toxins, literally like right now like breathing in toxins and leaky gut.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Essentially is it's going into bloodstream, not staying in the gut where you can peep it out.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, so at least you got seems kind of nebulous.
- 5:37Speaker 1: You know, whatever I want to go on to, you know I want to ask about probiotics because I get asked about this a lot and from what I've seen, like if in certain situations you know, prescribed by your doctor, yada yada yada, it can be beneficial, but like for everybody, should, should all of us right now just be taking probiotics just like every day?
- 5:56Speaker 1: What's the deal?
- 5:57Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 5:58Speaker 3: No, I think it's.
- 6:00Speaker 3: It's hard because there are some like broad spectrum probiotics that have things like so, like yogurt has lactobacillus and bisonobacterium those are like the two common probiotics that we do want to have a good amount in our gut Right.
- 6:14Speaker 3: So there are more like broad spectrum ones that are just basic, so they're not really going to do anything.
- 6:19Speaker 3: But there's also just like thousands of strains of probiotics that all have different purposes and, without understanding what's going on with your own gut microbiome, just taking a random probiotic might not help you at all.
- 6:31Speaker 3: There's just so many different strains and you need to see, oh, are they digesting their foods Well?
- 6:38Speaker 3: Oh, do they have an issue with gluten?
- 6:39Speaker 3: Do they have an issue with dairy?
- 6:40Speaker 3: And then we kind of look into.
- 6:41Speaker 3: I just don't really feel like probiotics is like really the first thing you would ever need to start with for your gut health.
- 6:47Speaker 3: There's so many other things to look at first, I know personally.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Whenever somebody asks me, I tell them the only time I would personally ever take a probiotic is if I am prescribed antibiotics, because antibiotics and wipe out your gut microbiome and obviously probiotics help to kind of restore that.
- 7:09Speaker 2: With that I want to emphasize people who have never done this before.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Never take them at the same time, because if you do the antibiotics.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Just wipe out the probiotics, right, That'd be good.
- 7:24Speaker 2: You take them like at least space two hours apart, like you, usually a run of antibiotics, right?
- 7:29Speaker 2: Usually a run of antibiotics.
- 7:30Speaker 2: You'll take like two a day.
- 7:31Speaker 2: So you know you take your antibiotic in the morning, you take your probiotic at noon antibiotic supper, probiotic before bed, whatever.
- 7:39Speaker 2: But that's about the only time I would ever take that.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I will say the fucking packaging, though, looks impressive AF OK, because, like I look at the back of the probiotics and it's like 70 quadrillion dillion strains of whatever it is Like it looks impressive and it better look impressive, since it's like $60 or some shit for a bottle, like God damn, especially when you get those fancy ones.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Holy shit.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just going to pass on the probiotics for the most part, maybe in certain situations.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Seed the one Bobby approves.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's got like a shell around it that protects the shell yeah it's got the shell around the shell and it's like that's.
- 8:52Speaker 2: another question we get often is is that even necessary?
- 8:56Speaker 2: Do the bacteria die in the stomach, the probiotics die in the stomach, or what's up with that?
- 9:04Speaker 3: I honestly I don't even know if we know.
- 9:07Speaker 3: I think if we are taking a probiotic we should just do an extended release one, because when we're eating anything our stomach acid is going to release and if that can impact, I mean our stomach acid could kill the bacteria by the time it gets to your small intestine and large intestine.
- 9:22Speaker 3: So I feel like just taking an extended release while we are still researching is smart, I think.
- 9:27Speaker 3: For the antibiotic thing, yes, we are essentially the antibiotics.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Any good gut bacteria you have, the antibiotic isn't.
- 9:34Speaker 3: The antibiotic can't decipher between what you have going on and the good gut bacteria and it's just you're going to try to kill everything.
- 9:40Speaker 3: So taking a probiotic after is good, but the whole dying in the stomach acid, I mean it could make it makes sense to me.
- 9:48Speaker 3: I just don't really think we have like evidence to completely conclude that either.
- 9:54Speaker 1: OK, what about?
- 9:56Speaker 1: So?
- 9:56Speaker 1: What about fermented foods, though?
- 9:57Speaker 1: Because I always hear like this seems like the more from what I've seen, the stuff that we're learning that fermented foods are good for our gut can create, you know, our probiotics in their own way.
- 10:07Speaker 1: What's the relationship with gut health and fermented foods?
- 10:10Speaker 1: What you got, what you got for me.
- 10:12Speaker 3: I love like kimchi sauerkraut.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Fun fact those don't have fiber in them.
- 10:17Speaker 3: I was making a video yesterday about fiber and I was looking at my sauerkraut and I don't know why.
- 10:22Speaker 3: I wasn't sure.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Like no, it's like less than one gram, but it has a lot of it.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Basically is like prebiotics feeding the good gut bacteria.
- 10:29Speaker 3: So probiotics are the good gut bacteria, prebiotics are the food for the probiotics.
- 10:35Speaker 3: So we want to nourish the environment in our gut, and by eating fermented foods we can do that.
- 10:42Speaker 3: A lot of times, though, people are buying like sauerkraut that isn't in the fridge and bacteria is alive.
- 10:51Speaker 3: So if you want it to be actually beneficial for you, then you want to at least get it when it's in the fridge, like it should have, like it needs to be a certain temperature in order for the bacteria.
- 11:00Speaker 3: What's?
- 11:01Speaker 1: your favorite.
- 11:01Speaker 1: What's your favorite fermented food?
- 11:03Speaker 3: I actually like kombucha.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Kombucha man.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I'll tell you it's kombucha's.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Weird one, because even the people that like kombucha I feel like we can all agree that like we're weird, right, like kombucha has this taste to it, this kind of strong I don't know if bitter is the right word it's potent.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Whatever it is, it's very strong and it's something you kind of have to get used to and I've kind of adjusted to it over time, but at first you're kind of you kind of have to hate it, I feel like right.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I agree.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I actually just got a new one that was blue and I liked it and it helps me, but I also know it.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Like some people, it's just so hard to be like, oh, let's drink some kombucha, that's gonna make me have a healthy gut, and some people just don't need those type of bacteria.
- 11:46Speaker 1: That's in the kombucha, and then they just like boil it all down.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Is there anything you would tell people for what type of kombucha to look for?
- 11:51Speaker 1: Is it just like pick your favorite?
- 11:54Speaker 3: Which one do I get?
- 11:55Speaker 3: I honestly just get whatever.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Whatever's on sale.
- 11:59Speaker 1: For me it's whatever's on sale, whatever's in the clear section, like I think it is A lot of times with gut health too.
- 12:04Speaker 3: It's like nutrition in general.
- 12:08Speaker 3: If you're in like the mindset like, oh, this is good for me, oh, I'm gonna feel like especially gut health actually like oh, this is gonna make me feel good Gonna make me happy all this stuff.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Your body's not stressed so you're automatically like, oh, I'm gonna take a sip of kombucha and my gut health, my bloat, is completely gone.
- 12:24Speaker 3: It's like all in your head.
- 12:26Speaker 1: It's placebo man.
- 12:27Speaker 1: The placebo effect is so strong it is absolutely I love it.
- 12:31Speaker 1: If we ever make a drink, we should say it's probiotic, prebiotic and a whole bunch of other things.
- 12:35Speaker 1: It doesn't matter if it is or not.
- 12:36Speaker 1: People will believe that it will work.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Liam's prebiotic probiotic cleansing liver cleansing tincture and no inflammatory 100% has to be on there Right yeah, fight's leaky gut.
- 12:55Speaker 2: There you go.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Crazy, like anything in nutrition.
- 13:00Speaker 3: A lot of times it's just people have the mindset like okay, when it comes to gut health.
- 13:06Speaker 3: If you are stressed about eating a food like, for instance, if you have like disordered eating or eating disorder and you're stressed about eating a potato you're automatically gonna feel like shit when you eat the potato because you're in fight, fight or flight mode.
- 13:19Speaker 3: But if you're eating a potato and you're like, oh, this is good for me, this is satiating, this has fiber in it, this has nutrients in it, you're gonna feel better the second you're in a stress mode it impacts your gut.
- 13:32Speaker 1: How much do you think the kind of your mindset plays into your gut health?
- 13:35Speaker 1: Because I feel like it's like obviously everything's connected, yada, yada.
- 13:38Speaker 1: But like how much do you feel like stress and all that plays into people's gut health?
- 13:43Speaker 3: That is like honestly the biggest thing I think impacts our gut health.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Like I even noticed it in the slightest bit, like if I'm really stressed or if I'm not, if I'm like sitting down for a meal but I'm also standing up and I'm also doing like 18 other things, I never feel good after it because I don't want, I don't even know how much I just ate and I'm also just not even enjoying the suit or thinking about it.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Like your digestion really does.
- 14:05Speaker 3: It technically starts in the mouth, but it also starts in your brain, like once you start, but then your body's like hell, yeah, we're about to get food, and that's how it thinks.
- 14:16Speaker 3: And if you're just automatically fearful of every single food, you're not gonna feel good from eating it.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I want that on a month.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Two Digestion starts in the brain.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I like stress in the brain.
- 14:27Speaker 2: There's an interesting thing with people say that artificial sweeteners spike insulin, which we know they don't.
- 14:36Speaker 2: But the reason that they might in some people is because of that brain connection.
- 14:43Speaker 2: They're thinking, yeah, this is something sweet.
- 14:45Speaker 2: They're thinking, yeah, this is gonna spike my insulin.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I've seen that.
- 14:49Speaker 2: They're equating it to sugar in the brains, triggering to pre-release some of that insulin in preparation for it Even with gut bacteria.
- 14:57Speaker 1: For some people, where it's even shifted the gut bacteria, it's like their brain is like, because they tell them I'm getting this artificial sweetener so I feel like it's going to.
- 15:06Speaker 3: That's so interesting I didn't think about it with artificial sweetener.
- 15:10Speaker 1: It's artificial sweetener.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, no, if you haven't heard, Gabs, that's the reason everyone's dying and has cancer.
- 15:16Speaker 3: I'm good about that, but I haven't heard about the impact of just thinking about it, but it really is the gut-brain access.
- 15:22Speaker 3: I think we've all heard about that.
- 15:24Speaker 3: I really think that impact on things.
- 15:27Speaker 1: So like, yeah, you said I like that.
- 15:28Speaker 1: You said stress.
- 15:28Speaker 1: So like what are, like I don't know, top three, like five tips you'd give for?
- 15:33Speaker 1: Just like I'm an average person, I'm listening to you, I'm just like I just kind of want to be overall healthy and like I want to have good gut health.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Like what should I do?
- 15:40Speaker 1: Like what are a few things that I can just kind of do in my day to day that might help me out?
- 15:44Speaker 1: So you said stress less.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Is that number one?
- 15:47Speaker 1: Is number one, stress less?
- 15:49Speaker 3: Okay, yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Don't worry, be happy.
- 15:52Speaker 3: It's not even like, oh I'm stressed about like work, oh I'm stressed because, like my boyfriend or something like, like your body's in a stress state.
- 16:02Speaker 3: So it could be people like in the hospital that, like their mind, they're not like stressed about something you know minuscule, their stress, their bodies and inflammation, inflammatory state.
- 16:10Speaker 3: But okay, basic, think about digestion as okay, it starts in the brain and it ends when you poop.
- 16:18Speaker 3: So if you aren't fixing anything that's like above it, so you have your brain, your mouth, your esophagus, your stomach, your small intestine, your large intestine.
- 16:29Speaker 3: If you're not fixing anything above it, by the time it gets to anything else, it's not gonna.
- 16:32Speaker 3: If you're screwing it up over here, like, it's gonna be messed up by the time you.
- 16:38Speaker 3: So like one slow down, like literally just slow down.
- 16:43Speaker 3: People are so, especially like in America.
- 16:45Speaker 3: We're all just like we have to do this and this and this and like no one who like fits down and eats and relaxes, like literally just take a breather.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Like cook the food, enjoy the food, smell the food, think about like sensory aspects of the food.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Why do you like the food?
- 16:58Speaker 3: Why is this food?
- 17:00Speaker 3: Do I have a carb?
- 17:01Speaker 3: Do I have a fat?
- 17:02Speaker 3: Do I have a protein?
- 17:02Speaker 3: Just like, think about things like other than everything else.
- 17:05Speaker 3: And then when you sit down like no one shoes their food, they're just like swallowing giant chunks of food Like.
- 17:12Speaker 3: I'm a really slow eater in general, but sometimes when I eat with people, oh, me too.
- 17:16Speaker 3: The food's gone in two seconds by myself.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Yeah, like I'll go do all you can eat buffet with my family or something.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I'm still on plate one when they're on plate three.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like in like the blue zone.
- 17:30Speaker 1: So you look at like the blue zones where people you know longest living people, largest number of people on the hundreds, they all like sit together as a family.
- 17:38Speaker 1: You know like when it's dinner time they eat and they eat for like an hour and they just like talk and you know, yeah, they socialize over food.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not like us where I'm like I gotta get in my car, so I'm gonna shove the whole burrito in my mouth and then I'm just gonna chew it while I'm driving.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Yeah that like none of us I mean I, I work and there's not really I can't wait to like not be at the like I love my job but like I do eat at my desk and I try to be as mindful as I can, but it's hard because it's like I don't want to sit in the cafeteria and eat.
- 18:11Speaker 3: So it's it's definitely hard in like certain situations, but I definitely don't.
- 18:14Speaker 3: I try not to eat in my car because it's just not enjoyable.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Like I like to sit down and I think that's one of the things too when we have like people being like oh, when I'm in Europe, I do this and this and this, it's just so much different in Europe.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Everything is so much different.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Like I lived there for a year and like you sit down and you eat a meal together for like 45 minutes it, or yeah, you walk more, which I know, like walking helps aids and digestion.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Like you're eating smaller meals generally, like their portions aren't as big.
- 18:46Speaker 1: There's a lot of things going on.
- 18:47Speaker 1: It's not just like our horrible ingredients that are written with pesticides or whatever that people come up with.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Yeah, this whole thing plays into a lot of what we talk about how stress really affects all of this stuff.
- 19:02Speaker 2: It's not just the food, it's not just the exercise, it's not all that.
- 19:06Speaker 2: It also is the stress level that people are going through, and the community aspect as well.
- 19:12Speaker 2: You know, sitting down in joint time with people.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Yeah, the last thing you want to do if we're already stressed, because we're all like trying to pay for all of the things we have to pay for and you know relationships and everything Like the last thing you should be stressed about is food, which is like easier said than done, but it's honestly like the best feeling in the world to not be stressed about food and like know what your body needs and understand it, because when you're stressed about it, you're just automatically going to feel like shit all the time.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Okay, so I'm stressing less about food.
- 19:44Speaker 1: What am I doing after that?
- 19:47Speaker 3: I'm stressed less.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Now, what do I do?
- 19:48Speaker 1: Well, I'm freaking out because I don't know what to do next.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Holy shit, I just counteracted step one.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Okay, you chew your food, not to the point of like being disgusting like a smoothie, but to the point where you're not like swallowing in, you're like oh, that was probably like a whole, like part of chicken, like you want to like chew thoroughly.
- 20:06Speaker 3: You don't want to recognize it as it's going down your side.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Enjoy, the mouth feels.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Yeah, because, like, think about it, if you're just swallowing like chickens, then you're, by the time it gets to your stomach, you're just filled with like a chicken line.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Okay, it needs to have some work already done for it by the time it gets to the stomach, and some all destined.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Okay, so I'm stressing less.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I'm chewing my food thoroughly.
- 20:29Speaker 1: What am I doing next?
- 20:31Speaker 3: Okay, let me think.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Well, what about?
- 20:34Speaker 1: Like my meal?
- 20:34Speaker 1: Like what am I looking for in the?
- 20:36Speaker 1: You know, give me a quick tip.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Like what should I be looking for?
- 20:38Speaker 1: All my play here?
- 20:39Speaker 1: What to first?
- 20:40Speaker 3: Okay, Look at your play Understand.
- 20:43Speaker 3: I always just do my play method.
- 20:45Speaker 3: I think that's like the best way, or like the healthy Harvard play, or whatever they want to call it.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Basically, half your plate should be vegetables.
- 20:51Speaker 3: I try to do like two different colors because it's prettier and it makes it more enjoyable.
- 20:56Speaker 2: But it also.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Well, there you go.
- 20:58Speaker 2: I like it.
- 20:58Speaker 3: That's a simple thing, you know pick two colored vegetables, put them on your plate.
- 21:02Speaker 3: A quarter should be protein.
- 21:05Speaker 3: It can be any protein, I don't care.
- 21:07Speaker 2: And then it has to be a pretty protein.
- 21:11Speaker 3: I want it to look good and then a quarter should be grains, and it can be.
- 21:16Speaker 3: I like white rice, but it can also be like a whole grain if you want more fiber.
- 21:20Speaker 3: But if you're getting fiber in your diet elsewhere, then I mean it's fine.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Just make sure you actually like the food.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Yeah, enjoy your food.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Yeah, and then drink enough water.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Right, yeah, I was going to ask.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Water and that helps our digestion as well, and you're not going to drink enough water to dilute your digestive enzymes because that's just dumb.
- 21:43Speaker 3: I don't understand.
- 21:44Speaker 1: They don't understand it, they just yell it because it sounds scary.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Okay, yeah.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Like your hydrochloric acid is probably fine If you drink some water like you can have a couple sips like in your meal.
- 21:55Speaker 3: It's not going to be the end of the world.
- 21:57Speaker 2: It's almost like you can create more and bring the the acidity level back up.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Yeah, so drink more water.
- 22:06Speaker 3: I would say.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Another thing is if people are having like a lot of stomach issues and they're feeling like they're really bloated or they're just feeling like shit, like okay, no one's going to take caffeine out, but like carbonated drinks, carbonated drinks, you're just going to add more air into your stomach.
- 22:25Speaker 3: So if you're already like bloated and gassy, just drinking carbonated drinks is not really helpful yeah.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Because I know people will ask like are other drinks so like I can have like a flavor and ounce?
- 22:34Speaker 1: Answer in the water.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Or you could do like some juice, or like I don't know milk or whatever it is, or kombucha no, that's carbonated.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Fuck, they have that.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Never mind, Forget that One.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Focus on water.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Yeah, the people ask is there a reason why you shouldn't drink sodas or anything like that?
- 22:55Speaker 2: The two reasons would be simply the acidity wearing down the enamel of your teeth.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Make sure you brush your teeth and Listen.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Don't look at me when you say that.
- 23:06Speaker 2: I know I don't brush my teeth ever.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Okay, it's not.
- 23:09Speaker 1: I've been genetics.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I rely on that.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Leave me alone.
- 23:15Speaker 2: The other thing being that excessive consumption of carbonated beverages is going to make you gassy because it's got gas in it.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Yeah, they get me every time.
- 23:24Speaker 3: I hate.
- 23:24Speaker 3: I've had like companies send me energy drinks and they're like please, like they're not like, they're fine.
- 23:31Speaker 3: But like I'm looking for.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I'd rather have like an electrolyte stick or something, but then I'll just get it and then I have them because, like everyone feels tired, Everyone's going to ask all drink and I'm immediately like yeah, I shouldn't have done that.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Like it all immediately makes my stomach like cramp up.
- 23:44Speaker 3: I can't.
- 23:45Speaker 1: So yeah, basically, find what works for you, find what troubles you.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I forgot that exactly.
- 23:50Speaker 3: And like, and every product can be different too.
- 23:52Speaker 3: It's not necessarily like I mean carbonation in general is going to cause air, but there are some products that are probably going to be.
- 23:59Speaker 1: What about movement?
- 24:01Speaker 1: Just because I've seen that a lot like it can help with like gas trick empty, empty, that's stuff we're to say Like, just like a small walk after dinner stuff.
- 24:10Speaker 1: I see that happen.
- 24:10Speaker 1: A lot of different cultures they walk after eating.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Walking after eating is going to help your digestion.
- 24:16Speaker 3: If you're just sitting around, your digestion is like going to be slow, automatically Slow down.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Okay, so you're saying the large Dijorno pizza I ate with a soda and then sat around and watched Game of Thrones season eight because I hate myself.
- 24:28Speaker 1: That wasn't good, for that was.
- 24:30Speaker 1: That was bad.
- 24:31Speaker 1: That was bad for digestion, for mental health and just good phrase.
- 24:37Speaker 1: It's worse for everything.
- 24:38Speaker 1: It's in watching season eight Game of Thrones.
- 24:39Speaker 1: It's horrible for my mental health.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Why did you have to root?
- 24:42Speaker 1: I'm not getting onto that train.
- 24:43Speaker 1: It's fine.
- 24:44Speaker 1: It's fine.
- 24:44Speaker 3: It is one of those need that and then other times it does make you feel really like garbage.
- 24:49Speaker 3: So a good mix of both walking definitely always will make someone feel better.
- 24:54Speaker 2: That's one of the reasons that somebody can vomit when they're exercise is they had a big meal and then they go exercise and the exercise is taking blood away from the stomach, because you need the blood and the muscles and stuff and your stomach needs blood as part of the digestion process.
- 25:13Speaker 1: That's the worst.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Have you ever had a big ass meal and then went to the gym?
- 25:16Speaker 1: It's awful, it's terrible.
- 25:19Speaker 3: The opposite, to like people that aren't feeling hungry after they work out.
- 25:23Speaker 3: That's because half your like all your blood is in your muscles.
- 25:25Speaker 3: It's not even like in your gut.
- 25:26Speaker 3: It's not focused on your gut right now, so you're not even thinking about food.
- 25:29Speaker 3: I'm never hungry.
- 25:30Speaker 1: You got the sympathetic system.
- 25:31Speaker 1: There was that fight or flight and then parasympathetic system, rest and digest.
- 25:36Speaker 1: I remember the basic words from middle school or whatever it is.
- 25:41Speaker 3: So ask for stress.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Sympathetic is stress, fight or flight, parasympathetic is rest and digest.
- 25:49Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that's Neal.
- 25:53Speaker 3: When I talk about that and they're like like they'll ask me about gut health and I'm honestly, just like that is where it starts.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Honestly, think about like when you're traveling to, when you travel, your body's under stress and whenever, like if I'm traveling, like my gut is I always bring like more good things for me, like I always pack like fruits and vegetables or something.
- 26:13Speaker 1: So I can at least vomit.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Really good, because whenever I travel my body's like what the hell is going on, like your whole routine's off, like what?
- 26:19Speaker 3: Yeah, aren't you?
- 26:21Speaker 1: like so when you travel, you're eating different foods, right.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Two, because you're going to eat a whole bunch of different things that you're not used to.
- 26:25Speaker 1: So obviously you're going to be like what the fuck is this?
- 26:27Speaker 1: And then you're also stressed out, probably because you're traveling, so it feels recipe for disaster.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Yeah, your body's like where's my bed, where's my toilet, where's like everything?
- 26:36Speaker 1: Where's my cat?
- 26:36Speaker 1: I like that we both went the cat.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Then there's Liam over here, the dogs.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Asson dogs all the way.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Okay, yes, you have to pick up their poop, but it's not that big.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Well, I guess you can pick up as well.
- 26:51Speaker 1: It's just in the box.
- 26:54Speaker 1: That's why I don't have Okay, so yeah, all right.
- 27:01Speaker 1: So I'm stressing less.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I'm drinking water.
- 27:03Speaker 1: I'm trying to get a balance plate.
- 27:05Speaker 1: As much as I can, chew your food thoroughly.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Go for a walk afterwards.
- 27:09Speaker 1: I'm just trying to round everything out.
- 27:11Speaker 1: So, people who already forgot from five minutes ago, is that pretty much sum it up?
- 27:16Speaker 1: Is there anything else you're thinking of?
- 27:17Speaker 1: I'm just saying anything else out there, throw it away.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Think start, yeah, focus, just focus on your food more and eat sitting down a lot more basic and slow, like the simple thing you can do for yeah.
- 27:33Speaker 1: I like it.
- 27:33Speaker 1: I like it.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Okay, now I need to go back to what I told you earlier.
- 27:37Speaker 1: What's up with these fucking dragon fruit things that I'm seeing, with people who are like eating these whole dragon fruit seeds or whatever.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Then they're shitting their brains out, like I've seen.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I've been seeing a few of that around and apparently it's like they also poop out parasites, which are also just the seeds that they've eaten, like there's so much to it it's like, got levels.
- 27:57Speaker 1: It's got levels of nonsense to it that I love and hate.
- 28:00Speaker 1: So what's up with the seeds and the fiber thing?
- 28:03Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Okay, I made a video about that and it did really well and honestly, it's like any other fruit and vegetable Like okay, we have soluble fiber and insoluble fiber.
- 28:12Speaker 3: The soluble fiber bulks up our stool.
- 28:15Speaker 3: It dissolves in water, it's like oatmeal.
- 28:18Speaker 3: But then we have insoluble fiber that does speed up digestion more and it absorbs water.
- 28:24Speaker 3: And it doesn't absorb water.
- 28:25Speaker 3: No, it absorbs water.
- 28:27Speaker 3: I'm sorry, okay, that was messy.
- 28:29Speaker 3: It absorbs water.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Okay, the seeds and the skins, like all fruits and vegetables, are automatically going to have both those fibers and no one needs to know the difference between either.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Any of those for the most part, Like, just eat fiber.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Yeah, we started this last week.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Just get both, it's fine, whatever, just eat.
- 28:45Speaker 3: It's both fruits and vegetables.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Have both.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Yes.
- 28:48Speaker 3: But the skins and the seeds have more insoluble fiber, and insoluble fiber is what can.
- 28:52Speaker 3: If you're constipated, that's what helps you go to the bathroom more.
- 28:55Speaker 3: So the people that are eating all the seeds and those fruits, one.
- 28:59Speaker 3: They probably aren't used to eating a whole fruit at once, because you're eating the entire fruit, it's like a whole trend.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Like you eat the whole fruit.
- 29:05Speaker 3: That's a lot more fiber than you're probably getting in one sitting in general, but you're also eating all the seeds that have all the insoluble fiber.
- 29:11Speaker 3: So, yeah, it's just causing you to your body's like I'm not used to this and then you have diarrhea because it's a lot of.
- 29:18Speaker 3: It's a lot more insoluble fire because there are more seeds in it.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Essentially, your butt is like hey, remember that dragon fruit you ate.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Well, we're gonna go spit fire now.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's always like in the comment section.
- 29:31Speaker 1: People are like I know what I'm doing with my weekend.
- 29:32Speaker 1: I'm like what is your idea of fun?
- 29:35Speaker 1: Like this is very strange, but I guess some people are just real packed up.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Hey, hey, they're on tiktok.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Their idea of fun is sitting on the toilet scrolling tiktok.
- 29:44Speaker 1: They're probably constipated on the toilet right and they see this.
- 29:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know why people want to do that.
- 29:51Speaker 3: I think they just assume, like I Mean, they're just assuming they're bloated, but they might not be bloated.
- 29:56Speaker 3: I mean just like I don't know.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Like if you really, if you go to the bathroom and you really just feel like it's not Satisfying and there's still something there, you probably are constipated like you can go to the bathroom every single day, but you're still constipated if you're feeling like you're not going.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I think that's good advice.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Yeah, like that.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like Go to the doctor, like, or just Honestly, just try it.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Like it's like that's such a common Thing and like I don't want people to be taking like mirror locks every day, but like it's little things like that, and I think a lot of people just aren't getting enough fiber.
- 30:28Speaker 3: So if you're really just feeling like shit, it can help.
- 30:31Speaker 3: The other thing, though, is like people with like inflammatory bowel disease, ibd a lot of people are like diverticulitis.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Diverticulitis they Don't necessarily need more fiber and like sometimes people need to Eat more bland and like peel.
- 30:49Speaker 3: That's why people might say, like heal the skin on the fruit, peel the skin on the potato, because the potato Skin and everything's gonna be more insoluble fiber it's just an animal cyber and you don't need it and like cooking your vegetables.
- 31:01Speaker 3: A lot of people don't do well with raw veggies because yeah, your body has to break it down.
- 31:05Speaker 3: So if you cook it it's kind of breaking it down a little bit more for you and it's a little like gentler on your GI job.
- 31:10Speaker 1: I've had a lot of people ask me for like hey, I have IBS, I have Crohn's, I have all these different things and I'm like I'm not an expert in this and also everyone's different, so I feel like you should talk to your doctor.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Do you have any just kind of like yeah, just general tips?
- 31:22Speaker 1: Or like cook your vegetables, maybe try something like peeling fruits or vegetables.
- 31:29Speaker 3: When it comes to IBD, like one go get diagnosed if you have it, because like you are either gonna start out on a Medication or they're going to have you on.
- 31:37Speaker 3: If you're like in a flare-up, you need to be on a very bland diet.
- 31:40Speaker 3: So bland diet, like brat diet that I don't know if everyone really knows about, but like the brat diet when we were sick.
- 31:46Speaker 3: So just like rice, bananas, apples, like very bland food You're picking.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Like white rice, white pasta, white bread, because if it's white doesn't have fiber in it.
- 31:56Speaker 2: So food that doesn't look pretty.
- 31:58Speaker 3: Yes, just eat very bland boiled potatoes, chick-plane chicken breast, things like that, things that are not going to cause any movement or anything in your body, like, just bland.
- 32:10Speaker 3: But when you're not in a flare-up, you do need fiber.
- 32:13Speaker 3: So it's very tricky and like even people that are diagnosed are just so confused because People are like oh well, yeah, eat the Mediterranean diet, eat that, it's good.
- 32:22Speaker 3: And they're like well, aren't I'm not supposed to eat seeds and nuts?
- 32:25Speaker 3: I'm like well, it depends if you're in a flare-up or not.
- 32:27Speaker 3: If you're in a flare-up, bland.
- 32:28Speaker 3: If you're not in flare-up, you do want to eat like a balanced, nutritious diet.
- 32:33Speaker 3: So it really is like that's the biggest thing.
- 32:35Speaker 3: It's like it's so hard to be on social media and try to give advice.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, about someone.
- 32:43Speaker 3: So all the questions and stuff, it's like I it really depends.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Like I feel like I have to answer that so much people ask me like what about this?
- 32:51Speaker 1: Okay, so I have this incredibly rare disorder that causes these incredibly rare conditions.
- 32:55Speaker 1: What should I do?
- 32:55Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, I wouldn't even know what to start talk with your doctor, like I'm sorry, I just I don't.
- 33:01Speaker 1: This is social media.
- 33:02Speaker 2: That's exactly where you start is talk to your doctor.
- 33:06Speaker 1: I'm sorry I can't help out.
- 33:07Speaker 1: I'd love to, I just can't.
- 33:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and like I'll get a lot of people saying like if I talk about gluten or something like that, they'll be like, oh, I'm allergic to gluten.
- 33:16Speaker 3: And then I'm like, are you?
- 33:18Speaker 3: Oh, that's the only act and it's.
- 33:21Speaker 3: I never can really get over that barrier because I just feel like sometimes Like the terminology is confusing, so like I never really know if it's like oh, I took a food set to be test online.
- 33:31Speaker 2: That it said I was we've gone over those, yeah, you know.
- 33:35Speaker 3: So it's like you.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Only I just think it's hard for people to like grasp the fact that, like anyone that's on the internet telling you like this is how you should eat, it doesn't know what they're talking about, because it's like, honestly, it's dangerous.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Yeah, any.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Any real Dietitian or nutritionist or any anybody that's talking about food.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Any real one is going to always answer.
- 34:01Speaker 2: It depends on the person.
- 34:04Speaker 1: There's no wants people Jesus.
- 34:07Speaker 3: That's how it works, and also like we have license, like a license, like we're trying to not like Jeopardize anything, we're not trying to hurt anyone.
- 34:15Speaker 3: I feel like people that are just oh, this is how you do it.
- 34:17Speaker 2: It's like well, no, that just means you're part of the government mind controls.
- 34:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I care about no one, but all the money I'm getting.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Yeah which yeah.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Big pharma.
- 34:30Speaker 1: I just opened my check last week and, holy shit, there's so many zeros.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Like all zeros.
- 34:38Speaker 2: It's just all zeros.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Like so, all zero if there was only a single different number, I'd be in the green right, you know.
- 34:47Speaker 2: I'm like a like, a nice one at the start of those zeros or two.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Yeah, like even that Reaction to gluten that could simply just be psychosomatic from put somebody stressing over eating something that contains wheat.
- 35:10Speaker 3: Exactly, and the Europe thing versus yeah.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Erica, like we do like have different wheat we use yeah as a higher gluten content in in Europe that use soft wheat.
- 35:22Speaker 3: But trust me, you are eating pasta every single day if you are living in Italy like, you are eating it and it has gluten in it.
- 35:28Speaker 3: So if you see that disease, you can't eat it.
- 35:31Speaker 3: But yeah.
- 35:32Speaker 3: It is interesting, though, just the difference between like soft and hard wheat and how one has less gluten than the other.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Well, even like within those recipes, a lot of the Pasta kid might end up being made with the hard wheat anyway, or, like Durham wheat does have plenty of gluten in it Mm-hmm, like it's not magically gluten-free or anything.
- 36:00Speaker 2: And the softer wheat, sir, usually used for like pastries and stuff, just because, again, less gluten.
- 36:07Speaker 2: You don't need it as much in a softer pastry.
- 36:11Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's just like everything else in our diet.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Like I mean, a lot of people are just not eating right, so they're just not gonna feel as good, but I think it's like People assume that if I eat gluten-free it's healthier.
- 36:23Speaker 3: when it's like, yeah, I think it's kind of goes into the whole demonizing carbs thing and people not really understanding what carbs are and not understanding what gluten is, so they're just putting them all in the same category, like, oh, it's cars, yeah, but it's like no, carbs are like fruit carbs or milk like if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend looking up the South Park gluten episode.
- 36:45Speaker 1: It's so great.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Oh that it, that was so good.
- 36:48Speaker 1: It's so.
- 36:49Speaker 1: It just makes your dick fly off like that's.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Gluten.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Off into the sunset.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Everyone, nobody realized what's in it.
- 36:56Speaker 1: People are eating soy sauce and drinking beer like, yeah, fucking gluten sucks.
- 37:00Speaker 1: That's why I avoid it.
- 37:03Speaker 2: It's so great like people just like it was an amazing episode.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Hang on.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Very time I I work with like newly diagnosed celiac patients all the time.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Or I also like just work with people.
- 37:14Speaker 3: They're like, yeah, I took out gluten because it makes me feel better.
- 37:17Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, what is gluten to you?
- 37:18Speaker 3: Because have you looked at like your condiments, like if it's just bread?
- 37:23Speaker 1: if the answer is bread, then we need to go in a little deeper, because it isn't everything, but it's and so, okay, here I've this, it's, I've this theory, basically like okay, so we always demonize something, right, and so let's just take we're gonna take gluten for an example, right?
- 37:39Speaker 1: So people say I'm gonna remove all gluten.
- 37:41Speaker 1: So what are they?
- 37:42Speaker 1: What are they?
- 37:42Speaker 1: Less stuff, less of.
- 37:43Speaker 1: You know cookies, cakes, you know, like all of the, you know those, ultra processed, delicious with muffins, whatever it is.
- 37:51Speaker 1: And then they feel better and they're like, oh, it's because of the gluten, when really they just started eating more of a balanced diet.
- 37:56Speaker 1: But yeah, this is where, like and I think we all agree on that, but this is when companies are like, oh, people are eating gluten-free, so we're gonna make gluten-free Oreos, we're gonna make gluten-free muffins, we're gonna make gluten-free bread, we're gonna make all these things gluten-free.
- 38:09Speaker 1: And then people start, you know, eating those, and then they just again, they're doubt, their diet becomes less balanced and they feel like shit, and so we have to move on to the next thing now.
- 38:17Speaker 1: Now we have to figure out what the next thing that's killing us, so that will then eat a more balanced diet.
- 38:23Speaker 2: It always just comes back to a fucking cycle.
- 38:25Speaker 2: So you click thing, yeah, I.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Don't even know why companies would do that.
- 38:29Speaker 3: It's more expensive for them and also like it's like honestly for your gut health, like eating gluten, like snack, like foods, those like gums and stuff we're not really sure like they could cause like an issue for people with, like IBD.
- 38:44Speaker 3: They can also just like make you not feel good, like I know they cause a lot more like gas and stuff for me, like I don't do that usually, but like they put fillers in it to mimic Bread or mimic, the, to make it that texture exactly and it's like fairly better for you.
- 39:02Speaker 3: You're just putting more additives in it.
- 39:04Speaker 3: It's like same with, like Dairy free milk, like it's not that it's bad for you, but it's also just like you don't really need to have the gums in it when you could just be eating, drinking milk from a cow or eating.
- 39:14Speaker 3: And I think it really depends on the person because, like with gums and stuff.
- 39:18Speaker 1: I've never had a problem.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I've used like Santham gum and gore gum and things.
- 39:20Speaker 1: I have no problems.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Then again I can eat like 100 plus grams of fiber and eat basically anything and be totally okay.
- 39:24Speaker 1: But you know you have you know some gums whatever and like I've talked to people like that destroys my gut.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I'm like yeah, so I would not recommend that.
- 39:35Speaker 2: I had, like I had literally two packages of those smart sweets.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Today yeah, I know, I'm just going to tell myself it's like 20-20-20 grams of fiber.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:44Speaker 3: Oh, those are gummies.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Yeah, they look good.
- 39:48Speaker 3: I meant to look those up Interesting.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Well, no, so the gummies?
- 39:51Speaker 1: So the sugar-free gummy bears use multital and stuff like that, which is sugar alcohols, and that fucks people up.
- 39:57Speaker 1: For a different reason, the smart sweets in the lilies' gummies is high in fiber, and that fucks people up because people are eating like 10 grams of fiber in a day.
- 40:04Speaker 1: And then you triple that with one package.
- 40:06Speaker 1: So everything's fucking.
- 40:08Speaker 1: It's just.
- 40:11Speaker 3: My body just does better with fiber from real food than like the added to fiber.
- 40:17Speaker 3: A lot of people in my comments.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Tell that to me as soon as I try those fiber-added things, whether it's a greens powder or whatever.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Oh, that's what we got to talk about Gaps.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Can you tell everyone just to avoid the greens powder?
- 40:29Speaker 1: I need backup because I go after greens powders a lot and people come after me Not a lot.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Most people are on my side, but there's some people that are not, so I need you to tell them to fuck off and that greens powder is our dog shit and they should avoid them.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Please go ahead, oh man, in your own terms.
- 40:45Speaker 3: Shit if you drink greens powder or not, but don't think it's going to do anything for you, it's just you're drinking water.
- 40:51Speaker 1: It's a fucking vitamin Like holy shit.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I need to drink water.
- 40:57Speaker 2: So, funny enough, when I was talking to Brian Littlefield of Jocko Fuel about our upcoming 25th episode which, spoiler alert Jocko Fuel is sponsoring a giveaway for our 25th episode coming up here and everybody who is a member of our Patreon is automatically entered.
- 41:23Speaker 2: You don't even have to buy membership on the Patreon.
- 41:26Speaker 2: That includes the free people Everybody that's a member of our Patreon.
- 41:32Speaker 2: We're just going to randomly select one member to receive this gift package when we go to record our 25th episode, which will be at the end of the month here.
- 41:43Speaker 1: It's a button, but I was talking to click it Like it's not.
- 41:46Speaker 1: I know you're lazy, but goddamn guys like go like, click.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Okay, now I'm entered.
- 41:49Speaker 1: That's all you got to do.
- 41:50Speaker 1: It's not hard.
- 41:52Speaker 2: All you got to do, you know.
- 41:52Speaker 2: So I was talking to Brian and one of the things we talked about was greens powders, and we were talking about, like, if the first ingredient on the list of these green powders is soy lecithin, it's garbage, just a filler.
- 42:10Speaker 2: It's just filler, yeah.
- 42:13Speaker 3: I will say I do have like I've never bought greens powder but I do like like Jocko Fuel stuff and I got greens powder from them because I was curious and it tastes really good and it's.
- 42:26Speaker 3: The first ingredient is not soy lecithin.
- 42:27Speaker 3: I think the issue with a lot of the greens patterns is there, the whole proprietary blend, where they're just a bunch of random shit in there and it's like all and it's not really doing anything.
- 42:38Speaker 3: But I also will say when I traveled I went to travel and like visit my friend and I.
- 42:47Speaker 3: It's been a long time since I've like had other people feed me, where I don't really have much control.
- 42:52Speaker 3: And I wasn't like hand or just like they just say come on not going to go in there for edge and start eating carrot.
- 43:01Speaker 3: Weird.
- 43:02Speaker 3: So like I wasn't eating as many veggies and I did have it with me and like, trust me, I wasn't really getting a lot of vegetables, but like the mindset, that's where it comes in again.
- 43:11Speaker 3: So it's like sometimes if you want to waste your money on a greens powder, it's going to make you feel better, like go for it, but it's also just like understand that it's probably.
- 43:18Speaker 3: Well, it's definitely not the equivalent to like fruits and vegetables.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Not even close, like it's a different stratosphere, like a whole shit.
- 43:28Speaker 2: And if it's got proprietary blends on it, throw it in the trash.
- 43:32Speaker 1: I will never buy anything that says proprietary blend on it.
- 43:35Speaker 1: For anybody listening, proprietary blends.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Just they have like a number, a big number, it's like 8,000 milligrams, and then they got 8,000 things below it, so it's like one milligram of each.
- 43:44Speaker 1: It's nonsense.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Yeah, like I'm going to go ahead and call out athletic greens here.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Because, like if you ever look at their thing?
- 43:50Speaker 2: I know off the top of my head they've got the, the mushroom proprietary blend, and it's like all of these mushrooms and the entire thing is like two grams, three grams one or the other, and the effective dose of shiitake mushrooms alone is one to two grams.
- 44:09Speaker 2: So the entire mushroom complex is two grams.
- 44:13Speaker 2: There's no way you can have an effective dose of the shiitake mushrooms and all these other mushrooms.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Yeah, they're picking things that are like whatever's up and coming, whatever they want to talk about, like Zhang Sierlina Kale, I don't know.
- 44:29Speaker 1: Fucking cordyceps like you become fucking the last of us.
- 44:31Speaker 1: It's nonsense.
- 44:32Speaker 1: This bullshit is what it is.
- 44:34Speaker 3: And put them in there and like the longer the list.
- 44:36Speaker 3: It's just so scary.
- 44:36Speaker 3: But there's a reason why there's like research on each of those ingredients.
- 44:40Speaker 3: There's a clinical dose to have the effect that they're like claiming.
- 44:43Speaker 1: It just doesn't make sense and it's always a minuscule amount on the thing compared to what the effective dose is.
- 44:47Speaker 1: It's not, and it costs like a hundred and fifty dollars.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Who is buying this?
- 44:52Speaker 1: Who has all of this money but no brains?
- 44:56Speaker 1: How are they still in business?
- 44:57Speaker 1: I have so many questions when it comes to athletics and people still defend them.
- 45:01Speaker 1: I went after them.
- 45:03Speaker 1: I had somebody stitch me and go it's for athletes, not for you, dummy.
- 45:07Speaker 1: I'm like fuck you, these athletes.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Yeah, they have money.
- 45:10Speaker 1: That's why they buy it, because they have fucking money and no brains to go along with it.
- 45:15Speaker 1: It's bullshit.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Athletic Boom athletic.
- 45:16Speaker 1: If you can't get my nuance, I don't like them.
- 45:22Speaker 1: That's, that's basically yeah.
- 45:25Speaker 3: And then they'll put like probiotics and prebiotics and it's like you're it's fine, but it's just not like you want to waste your money on it.
- 45:32Speaker 3: It's just kind of crazy to me because I'm like sometimes I sit back and I'm like I can make so much money.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Oh fuck Guys guys, Listen, listen to me.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Listen to me If I ever sell athletic greens.
- 45:42Speaker 1: It's a call for help.
- 45:42Speaker 1: They asked me to blink twice.
- 45:45Speaker 1: There's someone in my house.
- 45:46Speaker 1: I need you to come rescue me.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Some shit has gone down, got it.
- 45:51Speaker 3: But even just like making a supplement like or making some like random diet plan.
- 45:56Speaker 3: I said I'm like it could be so easy because I just the people, things, people think and I would never do that to people.
- 46:02Speaker 3: But it's like a lot of people that are selling these things have no like nutrition background.
- 46:06Speaker 3: That is business and they're smart.
- 46:09Speaker 1: They're just selling money.
- 46:10Speaker 1: It's just about making money, all money.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking speaking of making money, there's those gut microbiome tests that some people sell, like the.
- 46:22Speaker 2: I was thinking it was last episode with Shaila got my life 50 cent or the 50 cell brain brain challenge.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah 50 cell brain challenge, whatever it is, it's not that hard.
- 46:40Speaker 2: You've already lost all your brain cells.
- 46:42Speaker 3: You can't even say what, it's already lost.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Brain cell challenge, where you only have 50 brain cells and you lose brain cell for every ingredient or two brain cells.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Whenever you come up with that guy, that guy Josh, josh, whatever Josh something Well, he also.
- 46:56Speaker 2: He.
- 46:57Speaker 2: One of his main things he sells is gut microbiome testing.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Oh, that's smart.
- 47:02Speaker 2: That's smart lost whatever is in, just sell a test for it.
- 47:06Speaker 1: So it's like gut microbiome is in, just sell a test for it.
- 47:09Speaker 1: That's genius.
- 47:11Speaker 2: And there is literally no evidence as to what a healthy gut microbiome is supposed to look like.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Like what is he?
- 47:22Speaker 2: What are you measuring?
- 47:23Speaker 1: it against.
- 47:23Speaker 1: You know what I would start selling, because I know what's going to come in.
- 47:26Speaker 1: You know what?
- 47:27Speaker 1: I'd start selling Healthy people's poop.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I would totally get like the healthiest people, attractive people to, because they got to be attractive, obviously, and then I would sell their poop because I need to say that's actually a thing.
- 47:38Speaker 1: No, I know it's like anybody listening?
- 47:41Speaker 1: No, no, no, poop, poop, transplants, I don't know.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Whatever they call it, it's a vehicle transplants.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Vehicle transplants is 100 percent of the thing and there actually is like some evidence that like, if you take somebody who's got all fucked up and then you give them the bacteria that's in the poop of the people and they don't just like shove poop up.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that's for somebody who's like completely fucked up, oh yeah.
- 47:59Speaker 1: No.
- 47:59Speaker 1: So they there's and they put, like they distill it down to do things I don't know Sciencey stuff, and then they put the poop up there with with other sciencey things and then they feel better.
- 48:07Speaker 1: But me I would just be like, listen, I'm just going to send you a bag of somebody's attractive, healthy person's poop.
- 48:13Speaker 1: You throw it up there and you feel better.
- 48:15Speaker 1: That's I mean.
- 48:16Speaker 3: I might get troubles in FDA or something I don't know.
- 48:19Speaker 1: I don't know what the deal is with that, but that's, that's good, I would make me money.
- 48:22Speaker 1: It would make me money.
- 48:24Speaker 3: Oh, so you're supposed to avoid anything with more than three ingredients?
- 48:28Speaker 2: Is what you're looking up to.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Oh, anything with more than three ingredients.
- 48:32Speaker 1: So salsa is out.
- 48:33Speaker 1: I can't.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty much anything that has flavor is out OK, because every single spice you put in something is an ingredient.
- 48:42Speaker 1: So can I have mixed spices Gables, or can I only have spices that have one spice?
- 48:46Speaker 3: Well, well, I'm surprised you didn't like highlight.
- 48:49Speaker 3: I'm going to butcher this pronunciation Karin, Karin, you got Karin, Fuck what's it called Karadinen.
- 48:56Speaker 3: Karadinen.
- 48:57Speaker 3: I was looking like he didn't highlight that, but he highlighted, like everything.
- 49:02Speaker 1: You?
- 49:02Speaker 1: Normally people go after Karadinen hard.
- 49:04Speaker 1: That's interesting yeah.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think it's really hard.
- 49:08Speaker 3: Anything like testing wise.
- 49:10Speaker 3: You really have to be careful where like getting it, because it's sometimes people will like do oh, like feets and stupid testing, oh, everly well, or whatever.
- 49:20Speaker 3: Like the people like sometimes you just get it and they just assume that you're going to take out everything red, but it's not necessarily one like your body might have just reacted to that at different time in your life and you just have built antibodies for it and you're fine now and it's like that's why I'm saying like chew your fucking food and like stop stressing out, because it's like start there, like you don't necessarily get a whole food group.
- 49:44Speaker 1: I love you to get like a shirt games you need to be like fuck greens powders, chew your food and relax motherfucker Like that's what you need, because it has like no one will ever do it.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Oh man For greens powders.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Chew your food and sit down, motherfucker.
- 50:00Speaker 1: That's what I want.
- 50:01Speaker 1: I want that on a T shirt.
- 50:03Speaker 1: I'll buy it, I'll pay for it.
- 50:06Speaker 3: There are mug or something they like.
- 50:09Speaker 3: Don't need to take out a food group you might like you might feel better out.
- 50:14Speaker 3: If you feel better Like, that's fine.
- 50:15Speaker 3: We don't need to take out multiple food groups when you're going to miss.
- 50:18Speaker 3: Just don't listen to anything just randomly that you're getting.
- 50:22Speaker 3: If someone's giving you a test and they can't even explain the test, then I would say don't do it.
- 50:28Speaker 1: No, they told me the test would be good for anti inflammation and leaky gut.
- 50:32Speaker 1: That's so.
- 50:34Speaker 1: It's good.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Like I said, there's there's no evidence as to what you're measuring this against, and people from different areas of the world are naturally going to have different gut microbiomes because they are living ecosystems that diversify based on what you're eating.
- 50:51Speaker 2: I'm telling you guys we are all this.
- 50:53Speaker 1: This entire podcast really just comes down to teaching people how to make money off bullshit Like I think whether it's us or somebody listening that every week, they're going to be like oh wait, a gut microbiome test.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Add that to the list, Check no greens.
- 51:09Speaker 1: Yeah, food sensitivity, absolutely.
- 51:12Speaker 1: And then they're just going to get rich.
- 51:14Speaker 2: That's make it rain, that money.
- 51:16Speaker 1: They're going to shout us out when they're a fucking millionaire off selling bullshit.
- 51:20Speaker 2: They're like.
- 51:20Speaker 1: I listen in moderation and they just told me everything I needed to do to make money off of nonsense.
- 51:25Speaker 3: And it's like I would be much better off with more variety in it, because there's different nutrients in every food and we want to feed our gut bacteria.
- 51:32Speaker 3: If we don't, if we're not getting enough food, we're not feeding our gut at all.
- 51:37Speaker 3: So it's like why are you taking out?
- 51:38Speaker 3: Like I honestly love the name podcast.
- 51:41Speaker 3: I feel like I probably like upset some people because every time I say like, oh, eat moderation.
- 51:45Speaker 3: They're like shut the fuck up.
- 51:46Speaker 3: But like I really do like it.
- 51:47Speaker 3: I just feel like people don't get it.
- 51:50Speaker 2: Like I think it's so important.
- 51:52Speaker 1: No, that's why we made the podcast, so people would sit down and get it.
- 51:57Speaker 3: It could be so much more for people and they are just stressing over and thinking there's like one right way, when there's just not and it's all individual.
- 52:07Speaker 2: Everything ends up being in black and white to a lot of people.
- 52:11Speaker 2: They can't see that middle ground that exists.
- 52:14Speaker 3: Yeah, that's like one thing I feel like I learned in like school.
- 52:17Speaker 3: I was always so annoyed when I had like I don't know where you're at in school land, but like case studies for like patients, because you would learn about all these diseases and then get case study and be like, oh the diseases.
- 52:27Speaker 3: And you'd be like, oh my God.
- 52:27Speaker 3: So you get really stressed and then my teacher is like, yeah, it's just not going to be black and white and it's never, ever going to be black and white and I was like, ok, oh yeah.
- 52:34Speaker 2: You know, it really is just never nothing.
- 52:37Speaker 2: No, no.
- 52:39Speaker 1: I love that the end of every podcast, every end of every end of every episode.
- 52:42Speaker 1: We just end up just like complaining about the bullshit at the end that we see.
- 52:46Speaker 1: It's just like also here's how to eat in moderation, but here's all the fuck weasels that will tell you that you have to do this.
- 52:51Speaker 1: And it's just us.
- 52:52Speaker 1: This is, but it's cathartic in a way.
- 52:54Speaker 1: It's just being like fuck those people.
- 52:56Speaker 1: I need to say something because it just drives me crazy.
- 53:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's like yeah.
- 53:02Speaker 3: They're not.
- 53:02Speaker 3: They're not sure about things.
- 53:04Speaker 3: They're just as scared of the food as you are now.
- 53:07Speaker 3: Like they are fearful in their brain, their fear on other people, and it's like you're.
- 53:11Speaker 3: If we're going to be fearing food so much, we're not even helping our gut one and you're just relationship with food in general.
- 53:18Speaker 3: Like you don't need to be stressed about food.
- 53:19Speaker 3: There's not like, oh, I have to eat this, I have to eat this, and like if I eat this I'm screwed, you're probably fine.
- 53:24Speaker 3: Yeah, like people just don't realize how the human body I'm going to go.
- 53:29Speaker 1: right now you eat some peanut M&M's to get my different colors in.
- 53:36Speaker 2: I got a bag of skittles right here All the rainbow tastes the rain.
- 53:42Speaker 1: I like peanut M&M's.
- 53:43Speaker 1: I need the peanut in there.
- 53:44Speaker 1: It's got that crunch.
- 53:45Speaker 1: I like that, I like that I do like?
- 53:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I do like the.
- 53:48Speaker 1: M&m's best M&M.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Let's end the podcast with that.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Everybody, if there's one thing you take from that, it's peanut M&M best M&M.
- 53:56Speaker 1: Good night, good night.
- 54:03Speaker 2: Never mind any other topics that we might want to get to.
- 54:06Speaker 1: No, we're done.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Peanut M&M done.
