- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for Back to the Basics in Healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Balanced Life Chiropractic. We're here with Dr.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Harley.
- 0:04Speaker 1: We're going to talk about T2 today, right?
- 0:06Speaker 2: Yeah, we are on thoracic segment number two.
- 0:09Speaker 1: So when I was a kid, T2 went to Terminator 2.
- 0:12Speaker 1: That was like the movie. They promoted it as T2.
- 0:14Speaker 1: So when I see T2, I think of that. But
- 0:17Speaker 1: we're not going to talk about Terminator. We're going to
- 0:18Speaker 1: talk about your back. And the T2 is connected to
- 0:21Speaker 1: which areas of your body?
- 0:23Speaker 2: T1 and T2.
- 0:26Speaker 1: See, I was going to throw in an I'll be
- 0:27Speaker 1: back joke, but I was trying to think of how
- 0:29Speaker 1: I would connect that to everything else because it's got
- 0:32Speaker 1: the word back in it and everything.
- 0:33Speaker 2: So as we get through our thoracic spine, we actually
- 0:36Speaker 2: start seeing more organ issue as those nerves don't just
- 0:40Speaker 2: control all the muscles and sensory aspect, but also our
- 0:43Speaker 2: organ control and organ function. So T2 has nerve innervations
- 0:48Speaker 2: going to our heart, actually. So we can see high
- 0:51Speaker 2: and low blood pressure type issues, arrhythmias, That kind of stuff.
- 0:55Speaker 2: We started thinking, oh, I didn't know my back could
- 0:57Speaker 2: cause heart problems.
- 0:59Speaker 1: And that's important. Most people use their heart every day.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Right. Yeah, it's kind of a big, vital, important organ.
- 1:04Speaker 1: It's a pretty important one.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Yeah, so we have two types of our nervous system,
- 1:07Speaker 2: and we've talked about this. We have the sympathetics, which
- 1:09Speaker 2: is kind of like the go, go, go aspect, and
- 1:11Speaker 2: we have the parasympathetics. So the parasympathetic, the slowdown aspect
- 1:15Speaker 2: of our heart, actually comes up from our brain, so
- 1:18Speaker 2: kind of C1, C2 area. That's the vagus nerve. Probably
- 1:21Speaker 2: heard of that one. So the thoracics is actually more
- 1:24Speaker 2: the sympathetic part of the nervous system, so the go, go,
- 1:27Speaker 2: go aspect. So that's where we talk about we can
- 1:30Speaker 2: see heart problems and arrhythmia-type issues. If that area is overstimulated,
- 1:35Speaker 2: it's constantly sending messages to your heart. So we can
- 1:38Speaker 2: see the elevated blood pressure. We can see a higher
- 1:41Speaker 2: heart rate as well.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Very nice. And that's the T2. And again, we're working
- 1:46Speaker 1: our way down the spine. We started at the very
- 1:48Speaker 1: top with C1. Are we going to L5 or are
- 1:51Speaker 1: we going further than that?
- 1:52Speaker 2: We'll talk about the sacrum and the coccyx as well.
- 1:56Speaker 2: I don't know how to say those. Coccyx. That's fun
- 1:59Speaker 2: to say.
- 2:00Speaker 1: So, yeah, we're going to work our way down. But
- 2:01Speaker 1: we're not even halfway. There's a lot involved when it
- 2:04Speaker 1: comes to the spine. There's a lot of different bones
- 2:06Speaker 1: and things connected there.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Right. There's 33 segments in our spine. So there's seven
- 2:10Speaker 2: in our neck. There's 12 in our thoracic spine. There's
- 2:13Speaker 2: five in our lumbar. And you're probably adding up. It's like, well,
- 2:15Speaker 2: that's not 33. Well, our sacrum is broken up into
- 2:19Speaker 2: five segments, and our coccyx actually has three segments.
- 2:23Speaker 1: She knows all this. She's not even reading notes. If
- 2:26Speaker 1: somebody listening is going, man, I am having some issues
- 2:28Speaker 1: that I could use some help with, whether it happens
- 2:30Speaker 1: to be their T2, which we're talking about today, or
- 2:32Speaker 1: if it's anywhere from the top all the way to
- 2:34Speaker 1: the bottom. If they've got questions and they're going, hey,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I'm having this little issue. I'm not really sure if
- 2:38Speaker 1: it's connected. I encourage them to reach out to you
- 2:40Speaker 1: because that would be a good conversation. And I can
- 2:43Speaker 1: also tell you, if you go, I don't think that
- 2:45Speaker 1: I'm going to be able to help, she would do that.
- 2:46Speaker 1: She would say that because she's awesome. But so many times,
- 2:50Speaker 1: I'm amazed at the things that are connected to your
- 2:53Speaker 1: spine and how many times that that could be the answer.
- 2:56Speaker 1: How does somebody connect with you? How do they get
- 2:58Speaker 1: this whole process started to work with Balanced Life Chiropractic?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's amazing how interconnected our body is. And it's
- 3:05Speaker 2: kind of mind-boggling how one little issue, T2, we're like,
- 3:09Speaker 2: how is that going to affect my heart? How can
- 3:11Speaker 2: that have problems? And maybe you've never heard this kind
- 3:13Speaker 2: of thing before. And you're like, I want to know more,
- 3:15Speaker 2: or maybe I have having heart issues and I want
- 3:17Speaker 2: to know, could chiropractic help me? The simplest thing is
- 3:21Speaker 2: just come in, sit down with us, talk. You know,
- 3:23Speaker 2: we do a lot of education and your first visit
- 3:25Speaker 2: to make sure that, you know, you understand a little
- 3:27Speaker 2: bit more about what's going on, you know, what you're
- 3:29Speaker 2: dealing with, how chiropractic could be a potential for helping
- 3:33Speaker 2: with those problems. So As simple as a phone call
- 3:35Speaker 2: is really the easiest way to get in contact with us.
