- 0:22Speaker 1: What's going on? I know we just started, but I
- 0:24Speaker 1: hate this episode because the pocket I feel like I'm
- 0:27Speaker 1: in now not being in. Last week you go solo,
- 0:31Speaker 1: and by the way, you guys did a phenomenal job.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I had some great giggles, but you were up a
- 0:36Speaker 1: three hour sod and now it's like sitting here. No,
- 0:41Speaker 1: we got racing with the boys here in a little
- 0:43Speaker 1: bit and we got to keep it around an hour.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I see what you mean. Now, Now I'm just in
- 0:47Speaker 1: a tough pocket to kick off to say good morning
- 0:50Speaker 1: to pop A team six listening in right now. They're
- 0:52Speaker 1: holding their hot coffee, They're already hitting their steering wheel.
- 0:55Speaker 1: It's like, damn it is this will Is he keeping
- 0:57Speaker 1: us around an hour.
- 0:59Speaker 2: It's not well, hey guy, okay, one, I see what
- 1:03Speaker 2: you mean about you hate this SOD. I understand that
- 1:07Speaker 2: there were comments though of hey, they didn't keep it
- 1:12Speaker 2: under an hour, you know, like oh long, soed, But
- 1:16Speaker 2: hidden in there was also like this is nice every
- 1:19Speaker 2: now and then, yeah, you know what I mean, not
- 1:22Speaker 2: like hey, we want this every single week, Like you
- 1:24Speaker 2: could tell, people are like, hey, it's kind of long.
- 1:28Speaker 1: A lot I saw a lot of good praise for
- 1:31Speaker 1: the accents. Good. I'm glad that the fan bases came out.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Sure and keep the accents going. Don't listen to the haters,
- 1:36Speaker 1: don't listen to the naysayers. Mane, the love was in
- 1:41Speaker 1: the air. We missed you dearly.
- 1:44Speaker 2: It was like very it was very felt on set
- 1:48Speaker 2: of trying to find our footing for like that first
- 1:51Speaker 2: fifteen minutes it was going, but it was like, man,
- 1:55Speaker 2: we're missing buddy.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Look. I was in the fetal position. I was wearing sweats,
- 2:00Speaker 1: I was under covers, I was sucking my thumb. I
- 2:03Speaker 1: was praying to God to take this strip throat away.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I oftendn't comment about how raspy your voice is, how
- 2:11Speaker 2: gravelly your voice is. Whenever I impersonate you. Yeah, you
- 2:15Speaker 2: were almost unrecognizable when you called me that Wednesday.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Yeahe with some optimism, with a little OPTI well, I
- 2:23Speaker 1: had a little bit juice coming in and I still
- 2:25Speaker 1: had a little frog going on in my throat. Will
- 2:27Speaker 1: was on the phone. This is what he sounded like.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And this way he told me, I'm actually doing way better.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I actually feel really good.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I was like, oh my god, you sound like you're
- 2:37Speaker 2: getting strangled right now.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Oh dude, it was Can we show the picture of
- 2:42Speaker 1: the tonsil? Absolutely, I'll shoot you the pick right well,
- 2:45Speaker 1: not right now, but after this. A matter of fact,
- 2:47Speaker 1: you're gonna have to annoy me about three or four
- 2:48Speaker 1: times a day to send you the picture. I actually
- 2:50Speaker 1: have the tonsil pick. You can annoy me. There we
- 2:52Speaker 1: go there, Yah, dude. Was it was like a knife
- 2:54Speaker 1: was coming out of my throat and it just it
- 2:57Speaker 1: jumped on me. Number one, I'm will comf in this.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Sherman Young. Welcome for the dads. If you're new here,
- 3:02Speaker 1: we call our audience pop A Team six. This is
- 3:04Speaker 1: just a show for the dads. We're gonna bitch and
- 3:07Speaker 1: complain a lot. This is not a show about being
- 3:09Speaker 1: an expert father. This is not a show about how
- 3:11Speaker 1: we are the greatest dads of all time. This is
- 3:13Speaker 1: actually a show about how we do our best to
- 3:15Speaker 1: stay grounded and the most important in the most during,
- 3:20Speaker 1: the most important responsibility of our lives. Yeah, and just
- 3:24Speaker 1: for an example, like we have an incredible community. We
- 3:27Speaker 1: have a big update on Evy the Brave And if
- 3:30Speaker 1: you guys know, you guys know the lore of Evy
- 3:32Speaker 1: the Brave. She had a tumor near her her spine
- 3:35Speaker 1: that she had to get removed and get operated on.
- 3:37Speaker 1: We have an awesome update there on how she's doing.
- 3:40Speaker 1: We have pt six community. We got shoutouts, we got
- 3:42Speaker 1: follow ups, we got emails, new dads, things that moments
- 3:46Speaker 1: that we crack a cold one two dad lost his
- 3:48Speaker 1: times that we've gotten motherfucked, We've gotten you know, maybe
- 3:51Speaker 1: a little cursed out. But you just know, you took
- 3:53Speaker 1: a massive lump. You took a massive l I actually
- 3:55Speaker 1: had one last night that I can talk about. Oh,
- 3:57Speaker 1: let's go. We have voicemails. You can call into one
- 4:00Speaker 1: of the dads, leave a voicemail. Vent to the boys. Again,
- 4:03Speaker 1: you guys teach us as much, if not more than
- 4:07Speaker 1: we feel like the audience gets from this show because
- 4:09Speaker 1: we have an awesome community and we have reminders. I'm
- 4:12Speaker 1: going to read a lesson here from The Daily Dad
- 4:14Speaker 1: that I read this morning. That was just a good
- 4:16Speaker 1: reminder in staying grounded because there's so many moments, there's
- 4:20Speaker 1: so many times where I feel like I'm not being
- 4:23Speaker 1: the most intentional dad, I'm not being the most intentional husband. Sherman.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I talk at length about a lot of those moments,
- 4:29Speaker 1: and we basically just use these microphones to talk about
- 4:32Speaker 1: dad life.
- 4:33Speaker 2: That's really that's really weird that that is your lesson of.
- 4:37Speaker 1: The week the Daily Dad.
- 4:39Speaker 2: The hint that you just did is pretty much my
- 4:43Speaker 2: my the trenches.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Mine is around like fleeting, how time is fleeting? Okay,
- 4:50Speaker 1: and we're losing them way faster than we think. But
- 4:52Speaker 1: then you don't Then you don't think you're losing that
- 4:54Speaker 1: fast because then you're in the suck. You're arguing before bedtime.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Rue wants a cookie, she melts down, there's music playing,
- 5:00Speaker 1: Scotty's hitting her, Ruse running. Rue pushes Scotti down, and
- 5:03Speaker 1: you're like, buddy, this is the time is ticking slow here? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 5:07Speaker 1: But I digress. Where was I going?
- 5:10Speaker 2: You were going? Basically, you were going with the entry Dad.
- 5:14Speaker 2: It happens on six on one the dads. You can
- 5:16Speaker 2: call in or you could ride an email in six
- 5:18Speaker 2: on one. The dad's at gmail dot com.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Yes, if you're on international soil, you're on international soil.
- 5:24Speaker 1: But your boy was out last week. I had strip throat. Yes,
- 5:27Speaker 1: it jumped on me like a gorilla. So Charo was
- 5:31Speaker 1: doing a company retreat down in Chattanooga, that's right. So
- 5:34Speaker 1: it was me rocking solo with the kiddos, and we
- 5:36Speaker 1: were having a great time. And Saturday night rolls around.
- 5:39Speaker 1: I get them both down and scotti. She wakes up
- 5:44Speaker 1: a couple times before midnight. But I'm in like a
- 5:47Speaker 1: zen zen state. I'm watching some TV. I'm having some time,
- 5:51Speaker 1: some solo dad time that you just cherished. The house
- 5:54Speaker 1: is quiet, you got the kiddos upstairs, you're not going out.
- 5:57Speaker 1: You cherish the times on your couch on the weekends.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Now compared to the goon berets out there, who are
- 6:03Speaker 1: you know? Videos left and right. They're downtown, they're out late,
- 6:06Speaker 1: they're drunk, they're doing all the things. Yeah, I'm cherishing
- 6:09Speaker 1: the solo time on the couch, rooftop, bar versus solo down. Yeah. Oh,
- 6:14Speaker 1: Scotty's up right now. She needs help with pat pass,
- 6:16Speaker 1: she needs help with her pacifire. Let me go help
- 6:18Speaker 1: her out because I'm in a phenomenal mood. Yeah. I
- 6:21Speaker 1: go to bed and Scotti wakes up another time around
- 6:25Speaker 1: one thirty, Go upstairs, get her down. I'm like, man,
- 6:27Speaker 1: it's gonna be a rough. It's already shaping up. She's
- 6:30Speaker 1: woken up three times since bedtime. She's probably gonna wake
- 6:33Speaker 1: up again. She's having a little moment. Rue's sleeping next
- 6:36Speaker 1: to me in the bed. We're doing a sleepover since
- 6:37Speaker 1: mom's out of town. And then Scotty wakes up. Get
- 6:40Speaker 1: up again, and it's around like three forty five, three fifty,
- 6:43Speaker 1: and I feel something in my throat and I feel
- 6:45Speaker 1: like a little bit of a headache, but not much
- 6:48Speaker 1: to where I'm like, oh, what's going on? Hopefully it's nothing.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Go up correct, Scotty, go back downstairs. I can't really
- 6:53Speaker 1: go back to sleep, Like it's like my eyes are closed,
- 6:56Speaker 1: but a TV's just on the entire time in my head. Yeah,
- 6:59Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like you're not forcing your
- 7:00Speaker 1: eyes closed or just closed but the TV still yeah,
- 7:05Speaker 1: brain's still on heavy and dude, I get up the
- 7:08Speaker 1: next morning to kind of get the kiddos up, like
- 7:10Speaker 1: Ru's kind of like in my face, Dad, let's go
- 7:12Speaker 1: get Scotty. Let's go get Scottie. And I'm like, man,
- 7:15Speaker 1: I am just not feeling good right now. Still feel
- 7:18Speaker 1: in my throat like when I'm swallowing and everything else.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I'm like, hopefully this is just something that's fleeting. Because
- 7:22Speaker 1: we got Josh Payton coming on Busting with the Boys.
- 7:24Speaker 1: This is last year. Last week's Oh Rollodex, we had
- 7:27Speaker 1: Josh paid on Bust with the Boys. We went did
- 7:30Speaker 1: the training camp tour where the boys went to out
- 7:33Speaker 1: in LA. We hit the Rams training camp, we hit
- 7:35Speaker 1: the Chargers training camp, and we're gonna hit the Raiders'
- 7:37Speaker 1: training camp. Yep. All within the three day rollod X.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Throughout the week. Oh my, I can't be getting you know,
- 7:43Speaker 1: like Chef always coins, there's no time to get sick.
- 7:46Speaker 1: You don't have time to get sick. Tro doesn't get
- 7:48Speaker 1: home till about one o'clock. So I go on and
- 7:51Speaker 1: I take my temperature and I'm running like a low
- 7:53Speaker 1: grade fever like ninety nine to eight something small chump change. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:58Speaker 1: But as the morning gets go, like I'm just like
- 8:01Speaker 1: drained of energy. And then by the time charg gets home,
- 8:03Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, if I can just get a nap
- 8:05Speaker 1: in Like my garment didn't log any sleep data, if
- 8:08Speaker 1: I could just go and get a nap, And it
- 8:09Speaker 1: was kind of the same thing I just started. I
- 8:11Speaker 1: just got worse. Like as I was taking the nap,
- 8:13Speaker 1: my eyes were closed. But again it's like I was
- 8:15Speaker 1: wide awake, and then I start getting the chills and
- 8:19Speaker 1: then I take my temperature again. I'm one o two
- 8:21Speaker 1: point eight and I just feel like dog shaking. She's like, go,
- 8:25Speaker 1: try to hit one of the walk in clinics. So
- 8:27Speaker 1: I go and hit the walk in clinic, like right
- 8:29Speaker 1: before six o'clock. It's on a Sunday, so about every
- 8:31Speaker 1: pharmacy everything closes around six, if they're not already closed. Yeah,
- 8:35Speaker 1: but I get to uh, it's like care or something
- 8:38Speaker 1: in Nashville, like these like Care now, yeah, Care now,
- 8:41Speaker 1: Care now? Walking there, get logged in and this dock
- 8:44Speaker 1: sees me. They swap me everywhere. I'm doing the COVID test,
- 8:47Speaker 1: I'm doing the SHREP test. I'm doing the culture. I'm
- 8:49Speaker 1: doing everything. They're gagging me. They got the fucking cue
- 8:52Speaker 1: tip down in the back of my throat. I'm starting
- 8:53Speaker 1: to like almost cuts. And then they run the test,
- 8:57Speaker 1: and the test take about thirty minutes, and I'm just
- 8:59Speaker 1: sitting in this in this room, in this doctor's room,
- 9:03Speaker 1: just shivering, bro, cold shorts and T shirt, thinking what
- 9:06Speaker 1: the hell is going on? Like what's taking so long?
- 9:08Speaker 1: I go and step out. I'm like, hey, is there
- 9:10Speaker 1: any update? Like I'm in fucking hell right now. You
- 9:13Speaker 1: checked on your order with that bro.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I'm by myself in the waiting room, like up on
- 9:18Speaker 2: the table the little crinkly white paper. I can't like
- 9:21Speaker 2: lay back and get comfortable. I'm just like shivering. I'm
- 9:24Speaker 2: like cold, where's the stake? I ain't None of y'all
- 9:27Speaker 2: are checking on me.
- 9:27Speaker 1: We got some pedia lte, then we got some water.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Can I get something? You just saw my tomass are
- 9:33Speaker 1: swollen and uh fortunately that spot care? Now? Is that
- 9:40Speaker 1: what you said? Care? Now? They had the antibiotics there
- 9:43Speaker 1: like a max is stilling to start on because like
- 9:45Speaker 1: you tested positive for strapping. I'm like, how in the
- 9:47Speaker 1: fuck did I get strapped? Throat thirty six year old
- 9:51Speaker 1: grown man getting to middle school.
- 9:53Speaker 2: That was like the Voldemort, Voldemort back in the day,
- 9:56Speaker 2: dude before COVID, before swine flew back.
- 9:59Speaker 1: In school man, grade school. Somebody has stripped throat. It's like, oh,
- 10:01Speaker 1: you got to stay away from that dude GTFO for
- 10:04Speaker 1: like a week. Yep, come back. Yeah, And so I
- 10:07Speaker 1: get stripped thrown, I get on antibiotics. I'm hitting the
- 10:09Speaker 1: chats like obviously. I text you guys, you know you're
- 10:13Speaker 1: not gonna be uh, I'm gonna be contagious for at
- 10:16Speaker 1: least twenty four hours, like twenty four to forty eight hours,
- 10:19Speaker 1: depending on how I feel. I started to hit, you know,
- 10:21Speaker 1: turning around around Tuesday is when I started to feel better.
- 10:25Speaker 1: But I was fucking down and out. Bro. Then it
- 10:28Speaker 1: gets to Rue. You know, she's helping take care of
- 10:31Speaker 1: dad Dad, and she knows I'm sick, and she knows
- 10:34Speaker 1: I've been laying around like all day. Yeah. Rue starts, like,
- 10:38Speaker 1: in my opinion, forcing a cough, like Ru has like
- 10:41Speaker 1: mild asthma, and so she'll use her at haler. But she,
- 10:47Speaker 1: you know, she tries a cough, and if Rue's sick,
- 10:49Speaker 1: she gets to watch some TV so I feel like
- 10:52Speaker 1: she's negotiating trying to watch TV by saying like she's
- 10:57Speaker 1: not feeling good, she's sick. We're out of the butterol
- 10:59Speaker 1: or whatever it's called for the UH for the asthma. Yeah,
- 11:04Speaker 1: so Charlo just like, let's just you take her to
- 11:06Speaker 1: the pediatrician on Wednesday. Take her to the pediatrician, see you, like,
- 11:09Speaker 1: just get her checked out, because again, I got striped throat,
- 11:11Speaker 1: highly contagious. I've been kissing on the kiddos, loving on them, yeah,
- 11:14Speaker 1: all weekend long. It can like it can like what
- 11:17Speaker 1: is it incubated? Is an incubating phase like two to
- 11:20Speaker 1: five days before you even get strapped, like you it
- 11:22Speaker 1: could be passed around. Yes, So we're already worried that
- 11:24Speaker 1: the kiddos are going to get sick. We're worried that
- 11:26Speaker 1: Mom's gonna get taken down. We're worried about the whole
- 11:28Speaker 1: thing because again, strep throat. Take her into the pediatrician
- 11:32Speaker 1: on Wednesday.
- 11:34Speaker 2: She tests positive for strep throat. No, yes, did she really?
- 11:38Speaker 1: And the pediatricians saying that there's like a percentage of
- 11:40Speaker 1: kids like they could operate asymptomatically, like she could have
- 11:43Speaker 1: had this for a week or two and you not
- 11:46Speaker 1: known it. Oh, this was sorry last Wednesday, Last Wednesday,
- 11:50Speaker 1: after I'm coming out of strep. Yeah, and we're kind
- 11:53Speaker 1: of questioning, like, how did I get stripped throat? Like
- 11:55Speaker 1: you guys have talked about being sick in July or
- 11:57Speaker 1: the fourth of July, but nothing that's like strep thrower,
- 12:00Speaker 1: Like char was under the weather before she went to Chattanooga,
- 12:04Speaker 1: but she wasn't like six sick. Oh damn. So like
- 12:07Speaker 1: maybe Charo had it and she was like asymptomatic. Yes,
- 12:10Speaker 1: maybe she's just tough for me in the fucking a gap. Yeah,
- 12:13Speaker 1: and I'm kind of coming to grips with how in
- 12:14Speaker 1: the hell did I get stripped throat? Find out rude
- 12:17Speaker 1: tests are positive for strip throat, Like she had a
- 12:19Speaker 1: red throat, but that's all she had. She didn't really
- 12:21Speaker 1: have any symptoms. She's kind of asymptomatic. And they're like,
- 12:25Speaker 1: has she went any to any camps or parties recently?
- 12:27Speaker 1: I'm like, she went to a fucking birthday party last
- 12:30Speaker 1: week where there was like forty kids. Your own blood,
- 12:33Speaker 1: my own blood. Took me down. But we were also
- 12:36Speaker 1: very thankful that she wasn't experiencing symptoms because.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Obviously it just takes you out. Yeah, but had rude
- 12:43Speaker 2: gave me strip throw.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Give you flowers.
- 12:47Speaker 2: I like, as long as I've worked here, I've seen
- 12:52Speaker 2: you power through. I feel like you and Taylor y'all
- 12:55Speaker 2: powered through like anything, and just y'all go go, go
- 12:59Speaker 2: go constantly. To get the text that we got. I
- 13:03Speaker 2: didn't even need more. You could have literally said, won't
- 13:05Speaker 2: be their strap throughout. It would have been like, oh shit,
- 13:09Speaker 2: that's a bad strap, because will never misses.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I always feel like I have to break it down
- 13:14Speaker 1: because part of me doubts anytime that somebody is sick. Yeah,
- 13:18Speaker 1: I think it's a flaw of mine.
- 13:19Speaker 3: I also said, though, you said there's people there with kids,
- 13:23Speaker 3: so you did take the route Like if it was
- 13:24Speaker 3: just the boys in the shop and none of us
- 13:26Speaker 3: had wives and kids at home, you would have been
- 13:27Speaker 3: in here.
- 13:28Speaker 1: We would have made it work.
- 13:29Speaker 3: But you did send the text for me, like, I
- 13:30Speaker 3: know that there's people like, we're having kids in this office.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Now there's newborn, there's newborns. Run they take it home
- 13:35Speaker 1: like that's a I was. I was thinking about that.
- 13:38Speaker 2: But it's probably also the NFL in you of like
- 13:41Speaker 2: when you're hurt, like, hey, I'm I'm actually hurt, Like
- 13:44Speaker 2: I everybody in this organization to know that I'm actually hurt,
- 13:48Speaker 2: or else I'd be on the field.
- 13:50Speaker 1: My mom also just didn't play that shit. Oh yeah,
- 13:53Speaker 1: like you. We were always going to school no matter
- 13:57Speaker 1: what unless you're truly just down and out like high fever,
- 14:01Speaker 1: all that stuff to where she knows for sure there's
- 14:03Speaker 1: evidence that you could be really sick right now, Yeah,
- 14:05Speaker 1: because there'd be times and you know, hats off to her,
- 14:08Speaker 1: like I would put apple sauce in my mouth at
- 14:11Speaker 1: dinner and then hold it in there and then say
- 14:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna go take a shower and then go in
- 14:17Speaker 1: the shower and then you know, quote unquote like vomit
- 14:21Speaker 1: the apple sauce in the shower and then come out
- 14:23Speaker 1: be like I'm puked everywhere and try to show, you know,
- 14:27Speaker 1: things like get out of going to school the next day.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Probably because I was like ripping around with the Game
- 14:31Speaker 1: Boy yellow version on Pokemon.
- 14:34Speaker 2: My mom's go to him is instantly, oh, oh you're sick,
- 14:38Speaker 2: all right, put some clothes on.
- 14:39Speaker 1: We're going to the doctor.
- 14:41Speaker 2: We're going right now, and we're gonna go, We're gonna
- 14:43Speaker 2: go wait in the waiting room because we don't have
- 14:45Speaker 2: an appointment, and we're gonna wait there all day, and
- 14:48Speaker 2: we're gonna you're gonna go to the doctor. And after
- 14:50Speaker 2: two times of that of me faking it, I was like, Okay,
- 14:53Speaker 2: I don't want to fake sick anymore because I just
- 14:55Speaker 2: sit in a waiting room at a doctor's office and
- 14:58Speaker 2: then the doctor tells my mom, yeah, he's fine, and
- 15:01Speaker 2: it's miserable.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yeah, And you would almost test it because you it's
- 15:05Speaker 1: like you had friends that would like, just have a
- 15:07Speaker 1: cough and they get to stay home. Oh yeah, dude,
- 15:09Speaker 1: what the fuck? How are you pulling that off? You said,
- 15:12Speaker 1: at home playing video games all day? Can you just
- 15:15Speaker 1: have a stuffy nose? Yeah, dude, just just do a
- 15:19Speaker 1: couple of costs.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Go to the school nurse and tell me your throat
- 15:22Speaker 2: hurts really bad, and by be strap and they call
- 15:24Speaker 2: your mom.
- 15:25Speaker 4: You guys, ever experienced the fear of like, you do
- 15:27Speaker 4: feel sick, but you're not like one hundred percent, but
- 15:29Speaker 4: you feel kind of shitty, and you're going to the
- 15:31Speaker 4: doctor and your parents are like, you better be sick. Oh,
- 15:34Speaker 4: I swear to God, you better be you better, you
- 15:39Speaker 4: please test positive for something.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Because now that we're parents, you gonna you can kind
- 15:43Speaker 1: of see it. You're kind of like wasting their time.
- 15:45Speaker 1: They might have to take off work because they're having
- 15:46Speaker 1: to take care of the big time. Like you know, motherfucker,
- 15:49Speaker 1: you're taking my PTO right now. Yes, my mom.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Would be legitimately like loving, caring mother and I love you,
- 15:56Speaker 2: miss saying as she listens to the show. But she
- 15:58Speaker 2: could sniff out a rat and it pissed her off
- 16:02Speaker 2: so much. If we were she knew when we were
- 16:06Speaker 2: faking sick, and so it was her mission to prove
- 16:09Speaker 2: that you were not sick. Take you to the doctor,
- 16:12Speaker 2: and you better test positive for something.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Yeah, like think that they might have like a big
- 16:15Speaker 1: day of work, or there's a big week ahead that
- 16:17Speaker 1: they might be excited about, and you just wake up
- 16:19Speaker 1: on the wrong side of the bed trying to fake sick.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Did in the Zoolander cough And then the parents got
- 16:24Speaker 1: to play the guilt of they don't believe you. But also, man,
- 16:28Speaker 1: I'm a shitty parent if I don't make sure they're
- 16:30Speaker 1: actually not sick. If they actually are sick, So let
- 16:35Speaker 1: me check the boxes of making sure they are sick.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Then you find out they're not, then it fuels the
- 16:39Speaker 1: piste off. This dude, you're fucking lying to me all
- 16:41Speaker 1: the time, you little shit.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and then they're dropping me off at school and going, hey,
- 16:45Speaker 2: extra homework for him, by the way, Yeah, because I
- 16:47Speaker 2: know we missed a lot.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Yeah, walk up to your teachers. Actually asked for some
- 16:51Speaker 1: bonus words. I don't want to report when you get
- 16:54Speaker 1: home from school that you went back to your first
- 16:56Speaker 1: hour and second hour and ask for some extra work.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Yeah, how can I get caught up? So sorry for
- 17:01Speaker 2: visiting your class. I mean really, it did feel like
- 17:03Speaker 2: that chef, that was a great call.
- 17:04Speaker 4: And then there's nothing like when you actually do test
- 17:07Speaker 4: positive and they're like, oh okay, Like I guess he
- 17:09Speaker 4: actually calls my dad would call my mom like, yeah,
- 17:11Speaker 4: he actually is sick, you test spot. I had my
- 17:13Speaker 4: tonsils taken out because I got stripped seven times in.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Two years, seven times.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Seven times, and the doctor said that I took more
- 17:19Speaker 4: antibiotics that it would just stop working. And then it's
- 17:22Speaker 4: like that's a big problem. So I had to get
- 17:24Speaker 4: by the way for a non invasive, super invasive surgery.
- 17:28Speaker 4: The worst like it ruins a month of your life.
- 17:32Speaker 4: Fucking blows dude.
- 17:33Speaker 1: How vulnerable was your immune system?
- 17:35Speaker 4: It was just strip after I got my tonsils taken out.
- 17:38Speaker 4: I think I've gotten sick three times, and that was
- 17:40Speaker 4: in fourth grade, says the thing.
- 17:42Speaker 1: I've never gotten my tonsils taken out.
- 17:45Speaker 2: The immune system is a crazy thing too, like when
- 17:47Speaker 2: you're talking about Rue and her being asymptomatic and how
- 17:52Speaker 2: certain bodies react to certain stuff.
- 17:54Speaker 1: My mom always.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Talked about that we have the same pediatrician, my brother
- 17:59Speaker 2: and I. The doctor would come out with my brother's file,
- 18:04Speaker 2: you know, each time, and it was this big, and
- 18:08Speaker 2: he would come out with my file and it was
- 18:10Speaker 2: this big. Like my brother whenever he got anything, it
- 18:13Speaker 2: would hit him like how strap just hit you? And
- 18:17Speaker 2: then with me, I guess it was like I was
- 18:20Speaker 2: probably getting sick, but just it wasn't all the symptoms
- 18:24Speaker 2: and stuff that would keep you out of school.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I know. It's such a better feeling though, being like
- 18:28Speaker 1: the alpha on the alpha side of it, of like
- 18:30Speaker 1: your immune system can't get penetrated. Yeah, but you and
- 18:34Speaker 1: you get to look at all the sick people like
- 18:35Speaker 1: the there like they're inferior a little bit like all
- 18:38Speaker 1: his voice who get sick and they take it a
- 18:39Speaker 1: little hard buddy like I got a I got a
- 18:43Speaker 1: comment here that made me laugh. I got I gotta
- 18:51Speaker 1: see it. Fine one go ahead, rip one sharm. While
- 18:53Speaker 1: was looking, the.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Boys had Will's back and stood tin toads down against
- 18:58Speaker 2: any slander on his name.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Respect.
- 19:00Speaker 2: That came from DJ pac One on YouTube. We hey,
- 19:04Speaker 2: we did go to go to bath for you?
- 19:06Speaker 1: By the way. Yeah, I know there's some I know,
- 19:09Speaker 1: I appreciate it. There was some.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Crazy shit coming out of intern Chris's mouth, and Chris
- 19:16Speaker 2: is a bit of a shit talker. I miss him
- 19:18Speaker 2: already in the internship program.
- 19:19Speaker 1: I know, Lee, I know you only man, where's this
- 19:23Speaker 1: dude who called who said I had positas? Because I
- 19:31Speaker 1: have one here from Chris Stack. This is Chris Stack
- 19:33Speaker 1: and Walt ninety five zero seven. I'm literally in tears
- 19:36Speaker 1: listening to you guys. Go in on, Chris, hang in there, Chris,
- 19:39Speaker 1: go big red. We'll didn't show up for the pod,
- 19:41Speaker 1: just like he doesn't show up to cut his grass.
- 19:43Speaker 1: That's from Benji Golf's.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Oh come on, Benji, hold on old one.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Oh Darren, you crushed with these deacon sure need to quit. Sorry.
- 20:06Speaker 2: This comes from Franklin pronunciation eight four zero one on YouTube.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Franklin says decon Schermaney to quit meat writing Willie flat tire.
- 20:16Speaker 2: There's zero chance of healthy will Compton can change a
- 20:19Speaker 2: tire without help from YouTube. That's a grown ass man.
- 20:24Speaker 2: That's on www dot internet dot. Why are YouTube shaming people?
- 20:30Speaker 2: To take a little reminder, why are we YouTube shaming people?
- 20:36Speaker 1: My wife checked me. My wife checked me. Yes, I
- 20:41Speaker 1: walked it through hout to change of tires. She said,
- 20:43Speaker 1: just don't forget you want to loosen the lugnuts before
- 20:45Speaker 1: you jack it up. That's a great reminder, sweetheart, she
- 20:50Speaker 1: checked you. She checked me. So to that comment, I say,
- 20:54Speaker 1: that's bullshit, Like I know how to change a tire.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Now.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Would my fleeting brain have forgot to loosen the lugnuts?
- 21:00Speaker 1: I would have went back on YouTube to get reminded. Yes,
- 21:02Speaker 1: but that would have refreshed my mind. Oh yeah, that's
- 21:05Speaker 1: of course, you got to loosen the lugnuts before you
- 21:07Speaker 1: jacked that thing up and change it.
- 21:08Speaker 2: But you also have the brute strength that it probably
- 21:11Speaker 2: wouldn't have even been an issue, right, you would have
- 21:15Speaker 2: And another dad hack you play, you put the jack
- 21:18Speaker 2: on there, or you put the whatever that thing is,
- 21:21Speaker 2: give it a little stomp.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Yeah, get it going, Get it going.
- 21:25Speaker 4: After that episode, Chris came up to me. He was like,
- 21:28Speaker 4: I love that, like whole bit thing that me and
- 21:30Speaker 4: Sherman had about Shirream defending will there. I was like,
- 21:32Speaker 4: it's not a bit, just the mess of them. He was, There's.
- 21:38Speaker 1: It looks a lot of heat my way over the
- 21:41Speaker 1: last week. It's crazy. We have a show called for
- 21:43Speaker 1: the dads. Yeah, you have the clip that chef can
- 21:47Speaker 1: play right now.
- 21:48Speaker 6: I mean, I really wish you'd start cutting some grass,
- 21:50Speaker 6: because when you learn to strike, there ain't nothing better.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Brother.
- 21:54Speaker 6: When I pull up and I see my grass, I'll
- 21:56Speaker 6: be like, and I have to learn the hard way.
- 21:58Speaker 6: He'll make that zero turn of a little bit too tight,
- 22:00Speaker 6: tear up. You got a three point turn. You gotta
- 22:04Speaker 6: take it easy. And now since you move, you got
- 22:06Speaker 6: a couple of acres.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Now you know, I don't I have like an acre,
- 22:09Speaker 2: Willie boy, ain't cutting the grass.
- 22:10Speaker 6: Man, it's just beneath you. Is that what you're saying.
- 22:13Speaker 2: No, it's not beneath me. I just would rather just
- 22:16Speaker 2: not cut the grass. It's crazy, Like I just sit
- 22:18Speaker 2: there and I'm like, man, do I want to put
- 22:20Speaker 2: time and to cutting the grass?
- 22:21Speaker 6: There's something?
- 22:22Speaker 1: Can I pay somebody just cut my grass?
- 22:23Speaker 6: And then you could, But you're missing out on what
- 22:25Speaker 6: it feels like to just it's just different, bro, when
- 22:27Speaker 6: you cut grass, when you spend time out in nature,
- 22:30Speaker 6: like psychologically, I think it speaks to each and every
- 22:32Speaker 6: one of us. That's why they tell you to go
- 22:33Speaker 6: out in the morning and ground stretching, you know, That's
- 22:36Speaker 6: why he says I feel young. I feel young too.
- 22:39Speaker 6: But you, on the other hand, you're like, man, I'm
- 22:40Speaker 6: getting old clay.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Questioning me mowing the yard because I don't mow the
- 22:50Speaker 1: yard anymore, even though when I was a young jed like,
- 22:52Speaker 1: I've done my fair share of mowing the yard. Not
- 22:54Speaker 1: my cup of tea. Like guys writing poems about how
- 22:58Speaker 1: great it is to cut your yard and a fresh
- 23:00Speaker 1: mode lawn and you get done with it, the beer
- 23:03Speaker 1: hits better than this. Look.
- 23:05Speaker 2: I'm with you, but I've done it, and it's like
- 23:07Speaker 2: I don't care to do that every week to I
- 23:10Speaker 2: don't mow the yard.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I'm question on changing attire. One thing you can't question
- 23:13Speaker 1: me on is that boy willy see on the grill?
- 23:19Speaker 1: Is that boy willy see on the grill? Where did
- 23:21Speaker 1: that talk in red meat chicken, whatever it is? Where
- 23:24Speaker 1: did that get born?
- 23:25Speaker 2: Because that happened somewhere on the bus before I started
- 23:29Speaker 2: working here, like I was hearing little things about how
- 23:33Speaker 2: you don't know how to grill?
- 23:34Speaker 1: Who's that you think? That's why? Now are you gaslighting? Meslighting?
- 23:41Speaker 1: You am? I am? I off? By saying off, people
- 23:46Speaker 1: question me on the real question.
- 23:47Speaker 2: They're like, why don't you cut your meat whenever you
- 23:49Speaker 2: take pictures to show it?
- 23:52Speaker 1: You know how? You know how the internet is when
- 23:56Speaker 1: it comes to like everybody's an expert on the internet,
- 23:59Speaker 1: you gotta take shot. Nothing's going to be perfect on
- 24:01Speaker 1: the internet.
- 24:02Speaker 2: We gotta do some kind of grill day, dude. And
- 24:04Speaker 2: it doesn't even have to be a grill off. I'm
- 24:07Speaker 2: talking like a chili like you know those like chili
- 24:09Speaker 2: cookoff things where like everybody kind of wins there is
- 24:13Speaker 2: a best chili, but like at the end of the day,
- 24:15Speaker 2: everybody got to have some chili. Yeah, we need to
- 24:18Speaker 2: have like a meat cookoff here at the office.
- 24:22Speaker 1: You're just you're known as a grill guy. When your
- 24:25Speaker 1: wife brings up early in the day, early in the afternoon.
- 24:28Speaker 1: We did it on we did it this past Sunday.
- 24:30Speaker 1: She's like, you want a grill tonight? And right there
- 24:32Speaker 1: that question it's all now on the man, it's all
- 24:37Speaker 1: now on hobby. Yeah, it's like, yeah, what do we
- 24:40Speaker 1: want a girl, sweetheart? What are you feeling? You want burgers?
- 24:42Speaker 1: You want steak, you want chicken, you want veggies? How big?
- 24:45Speaker 1: How much do we want to do this up? Because
- 24:48Speaker 1: she already.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Knows Dad's got it, and if that didn't have it,
- 24:51Speaker 2: you know what her question is, Hey, where are we
- 24:53Speaker 2: getting take out from tonight?
- 24:55Speaker 1: You're right, that's what you don't want to hear. You
- 24:57Speaker 1: don't want to hear. Should we grill tonight? Followed up
- 24:59Speaker 1: with you know what, let's just order out?
- 25:03Speaker 2: Made question too, stops yourself made question to go Actually,
- 25:06Speaker 2: you know what, we could just order out?
- 25:08Speaker 1: That tells you that your wife doesn't actually trust you
- 25:11Speaker 1: on the grill.
- 25:12Speaker 2: Yeah, which I'm in a dangerous spot, guys. I told
- 25:15Speaker 2: you all about my last steak. That was my last
- 25:18Speaker 2: steak that I've made. I've yet to get a new
- 25:22Speaker 2: grade for my grill.
- 25:25Speaker 1: That was the last steak that you made. It was
- 25:27Speaker 1: the one that I tried to do in the oven
- 25:29Speaker 1: and reverse sear. Yeah. Look, you're gonna take losses on
- 25:32Speaker 1: the grill. Like Chef Jack. His name is Chef Jack.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Why because he whips it up in the lap. That's
- 25:37Speaker 1: all I took it. I took an l on a Sunday.
- 25:41Speaker 1: And that's what happens, right, Like, you're never gonna You're
- 25:43Speaker 1: never gonna bat a thousand. You know the analogy with
- 25:46Speaker 1: baseball players and hitting home runs. Yeah, batting averages with
- 25:49Speaker 1: three out of ten. Yeah, No, on the grill, you're
- 25:52Speaker 1: gonna have a higher percentage if you're an actual, if
- 25:53Speaker 1: you know your way around a grill. Yeah, you're gonna
- 25:56Speaker 1: take a couple of losses. Like I had the boys
- 25:58Speaker 1: over a few years ago or a couple of years ago,
- 26:00Speaker 1: and I was fired up about making them my apple
- 26:04Speaker 1: jalapenos smoked ribs. But I overdid them. I overcooked them
- 26:07Speaker 1: a little bit. That's what I think.
- 26:09Speaker 2: That's what it Maybe that's what it was, probably because
- 26:13Speaker 2: that was like one of the times, like one of
- 26:14Speaker 2: the moments.
- 26:15Speaker 1: And dude, there is not a harder critic on themselves
- 26:17Speaker 1: than Willy. See when it comes to my smoking ability
- 26:20Speaker 1: or grilling ability. Yeah, yeah, yeah, And I was bummed. Bro.
- 26:24Speaker 1: You talk about Derek was referring to sitting over here
- 26:27Speaker 1: and the lights getting brighter. You talk about like having
- 26:29Speaker 1: bright lights that day and then not showing up when
- 26:34Speaker 1: the time came, especially, and then all the boys eating.
- 26:37Speaker 1: You're eating yourself. You don't even need to fucking hear
- 26:40Speaker 1: people's opinions. That's what you take it by yourself. And
- 26:43Speaker 1: it's a little too tough, and they're not falling off
- 26:45Speaker 1: the bone like they usually do. I don't even need
- 26:47Speaker 1: to hear you pat me on the back. Oh well,
- 26:50Speaker 1: this is actually really due.
- 26:51Speaker 4: It's it's more insulting when they come at you like no, no,
- 26:55Speaker 4: it's like, it's shut the fuck up.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I know what it is. It's not that bad. It's like, no, man,
- 27:00Speaker 1: you're fucking wrong. It is that bad.
- 27:01Speaker 3: No, dude, I had like four, I had like four
- 27:03Speaker 3: or five of them. They're pretty good, dude. Flip of that.
- 27:06Speaker 3: Best feeling in the world. I got to grill out
- 27:09Speaker 3: at the bachelor party we were at. Everyone fucking loved everything.
- 27:13Speaker 3: There's no better feeling in the better Blackstone too, chef.
- 27:15Speaker 3: So it's a Blackstone dogs, burgers, broccolini with lemon and
- 27:19Speaker 3: cheese over top.
- 27:21Speaker 1: But say, stay out of the you do uh yeah,
- 27:24Speaker 1: you do burgers, You do dogs, Yep, you do. But
- 27:27Speaker 1: your main dish is the smoked ribs when your boy
- 27:32Speaker 1: hits you with when your boy hit you with. Hey,
- 27:37Speaker 1: the burgers are gas, though, and it's like, fuck, dude,
- 27:39Speaker 1: we're talking burgers, like, of course the solid for the
- 27:43Speaker 1: most it's kind of hard to mess.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Up the burgers and dogs as we're talking about burgers, but.
- 27:50Speaker 1: The one you feel most like this is the one
- 27:52Speaker 1: I want to hit. I had.
- 27:54Speaker 3: I had thirteen guys in Tampa talking about broccolini. That's
- 27:57Speaker 3: where I was like, ooh, I kind of got a
- 27:59Speaker 3: thing going on that, you know, everything was there. Yeah,
- 28:01Speaker 3: I feel you though, because like I think, we do
- 28:03Speaker 3: this tradition now with my friends back home when when
- 28:05Speaker 3: I go home for Christmas, I don't see them very often.
- 28:07Speaker 3: So my two high school buddies come over, one guy's wife,
- 28:10Speaker 3: my parents. I cook a huge meal, so we do chicken,
- 28:12Speaker 3: we do steak.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Yaha. First meal I did it.
- 28:13Speaker 3: I tried to do Cat's dats carne asada, then skirt steak,
- 28:17Speaker 3: lemon and everything. We took it with us on the
- 28:19Speaker 3: right back because it was beef jerky. That's how tough
- 28:22Speaker 3: it was. Everyone lied to my face and said it
- 28:25Speaker 3: was good. And I stood up at dinner and I said,
- 28:26Speaker 3: I'm gonna take a toast. I'm gonna say, you guys
- 28:27Speaker 3: got to stop lying.
- 28:28Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 28:29Speaker 1: See, you're beating yourself up enough. You can't live in
- 28:32Speaker 1: this false reality.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, God, and the skirt steak, dude, just that
- 28:39Speaker 2: go lee. The amount of times that I'm like, okay,
- 28:43Speaker 2: I know ten minutes tops, like ten minutes tops, and
- 28:48Speaker 2: I'm gonna do and oh it's raw.
- 28:51Speaker 1: I cut it. It's raw, it needs a little bit more.
- 28:55Speaker 2: And then but you do a little bit more and
- 28:57Speaker 2: now all of a sudden it's it's great, completely gray,
- 29:01Speaker 2: beef jerky.
- 29:04Speaker 1: God, this is just just waxing poetic over the grill.
- 29:08Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. We should do a little a grill.
- 29:10Speaker 2: We had grills here, We could girls, gott are grills?
- 29:14Speaker 1: Got we have? We talked about that on a podcast.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 29:18Speaker 3: I took a journey to find them, dude. I took
- 29:21Speaker 3: a picture of seven girls in the neighborhood that I
- 29:23Speaker 3: found and we came back. None of them were ours.
- 29:25Speaker 3: I went over to the homeless encampment, didn't see anything. Yeah,
- 29:27Speaker 3: package of stuff in it for busting in the grill,
- 29:31Speaker 3: which is a crazy place to drop it off, but yeah, grills.
- 29:33Speaker 1: When you brought that up and then I had because
- 29:35Speaker 1: that was when strep was happening, I was like, oh, yeah,
- 29:37Speaker 1: I drove in on Saturday because I put a I
- 29:40Speaker 1: wanted to get away and do it, got a babysitter,
- 29:42Speaker 1: hit some focus work for a minute. But when I
- 29:44Speaker 1: pulled in, you just I didn't notice the grills there.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I was like, I know they were going on Saturday. Yeah, yeah,
- 29:50Speaker 1: So they must have got sniped on Friday.
- 29:52Speaker 3: So sad because we've talked so many times about cooking
- 29:54Speaker 3: grills out, like Chevin Sherman like, we should just get
- 29:57Speaker 3: some steaks and just cook for the boys we had
- 30:00Speaker 3: and aspirations for those girls, and they're gone.
- 30:03Speaker 2: We still have that weber right there. It's charcoal, right,
- 30:07Speaker 2: charcoal that we I mean, that's that's all we need.
- 30:11Speaker 2: You can do a little little something something.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Yeah, listen, I'm just here to defend my position. On
- 30:17Speaker 1: You can question me on all the other things out there,
- 30:19Speaker 1: don't question Willie one shell, Willie mose, Willie flat tire,
- 30:24Speaker 1: Willie flat tire. When my wife sent me the photo
- 30:27Speaker 1: of her changing the flat tire, first of all, sending
- 30:30Speaker 1: the picture when I was down bad and she had
- 30:34Speaker 1: the flat tire, I was like, oh shit, that sucks,
- 30:37Speaker 1: and then sending the photo I don't know, fifteen twenty
- 30:40Speaker 1: minutes later her changing the tire, like what a superhero.
- 30:44Speaker 1: But also it's another this low key she doesn't know.
- 30:47Speaker 1: She just gave me a fat l on not changing
- 30:49Speaker 1: my wife's tire. And do you like the deep pull
- 30:52Speaker 1: of the Ginner act? By the way, I hit Chris
- 30:54Speaker 1: with the Inner Act.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'd like to see you with the flashlight
- 30:58Speaker 2: fixing your guinner act during ice storm.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Dude, Uh, it's funny bring that up. I forget. Oh
- 31:04Speaker 1: the Raiders. We were out at the Raiders and the alumni.
- 31:07Speaker 1: They were like one of the best alumnizations, like as
- 31:10Speaker 1: far as treating their former players phenomenally, and they brought
- 31:14Speaker 1: up there like when that ice storm hit, we were
- 31:17Speaker 1: talking like we should send you just a Raider logo generator,
- 31:22Speaker 1: just ship it to your house and I was like,
- 31:24Speaker 1: oh my god, you guys think differently. That would have
- 31:26Speaker 1: been so sick, that would have been nuts.
- 31:30Speaker 2: The raidak and injured Chris with the uh couldn't think
- 31:34Speaker 2: of your third team and it was the Raiders. So
- 31:37Speaker 2: he was blanking on you said it, they're black and silver.
- 31:39Speaker 2: He goes, hey didn't play for the Steelers. I heard that.
- 31:43Speaker 2: I know you guys missed the fourth team though it yea,
- 31:48Speaker 2: I think for damfid Atlanta Annual.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Oh yeah, later on, Yeah, I'd be back. I got
- 31:57Speaker 1: no trust me, Charles. She listened to the pot too,
- 31:59Speaker 1: and she was like, they're giving you way too much credit,
- 32:05Speaker 1: like they're thinking, you know how to do everything. Hell yeah,
- 32:10Speaker 1: let the boys battle for me. Right now. You had you,
- 32:13Speaker 1: you were on your deathbed. We had you had to.
- 32:17Speaker 1: I said that you would slash somebody's tired to prove.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Did they come in and say I can mix it?
- 32:24Speaker 1: I got you? Oh man, I should have just came
- 32:28Speaker 1: in on Friday and just just change Chris's tires. Were
- 32:33Speaker 1: you gonna say swirling? You're say change a tire and
- 32:39Speaker 1: then give him a swirly? Do change the tire? Hey, Chris,
- 32:54Speaker 1: you really are a great answer. You can change the tire.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Just keep water board them in the toilet bowl. Call
- 33:01Speaker 1: me Dad.
- 33:04Speaker 2: I really didn't think that your goncais siould come in
- 33:06Speaker 2: on Friday.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Just swirling, man. I have some shout outs here.
- 33:14Speaker 2: I have some shout outs from Nathan Ramirez on Spotify.
- 33:18Speaker 2: He says, hey, boys, just wanted to give a big
- 33:21Speaker 2: shout out to my buddy Keith. Him and his wife
- 33:24Speaker 2: just welcome their baby girl, Nora, to the world on
- 33:27Speaker 2: July twenty four, and let's go, guys. He's going to
- 33:31Speaker 2: be a great father. And I just recommended the pod
- 33:33Speaker 2: to him. It'd be awesome to get him on the
- 33:36Speaker 2: show to help him through the trenches. And remember, take
- 33:40Speaker 2: out the trash.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Take out the trash. I got one here from Jared
- 33:45Speaker 1: rasberry O. What's up, boys, love the show in the community.
- 33:48Speaker 1: You guys have built Miss Willie one shehelf this last episode.
- 33:51Speaker 1: But shrham Deek Chef Chris, you guys crushed it. I
- 33:55Speaker 1: just wanted to give a shout out to my beautiful
- 33:57Speaker 1: wife Ali, who is blessed me with the five beautiful
- 33:59Speaker 1: baby six four, three one and four months. My god,
- 34:04Speaker 1: I know absolutely trench warfare. I have no idea how
- 34:07Speaker 1: she does what she does. On top of being a
- 34:09Speaker 1: stay at a mom to five kids who seem to
- 34:12Speaker 1: be related to Donnie Thornberry, she runs a co op
- 34:15Speaker 1: for other homeschool families in our area, is involved in
- 34:18Speaker 1: our church, and always seems to have a meal ready
- 34:20Speaker 1: for me when I get home. I'll never understand how
- 34:23Speaker 1: you remain so patient and loving during the tantrums, blowouts,
- 34:26Speaker 1: dinner time messes. And I'm so thankful for you. Love you, babe.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Jared Aggie sicko ps last weekend without ball till February.
- 34:35Speaker 1: It is we are getting close to ball season. We are.
- 34:40Speaker 1: That was almost my crack a cold one. This community
- 34:42Speaker 1: getting fired up, like listening to this for the dads
- 34:46Speaker 1: knowing that ball is on the horizon. I oh, but
- 34:50Speaker 1: truly I was writing my.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Little pre show notes and for my crack a cold one,
- 34:58Speaker 2: I had written out like fall is coming, essentially, And
- 35:02Speaker 2: then I was like, this is not a football podcast.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Is not football podcast. It's a dad podcast. It's a
- 35:07Speaker 2: dad podcast.
- 35:08Speaker 1: What do dad's love? We love football, dude, dude, we
- 35:12Speaker 1: love football. You talk about some losses that we're going
- 35:16Speaker 1: to take during the season.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Saturday's Yeah, dude, I know my watch going back.
- 35:24Speaker 1: You've been watching football day long. I got sweetheart. It's
- 35:27Speaker 1: just part of the gig. It's part of the gig
- 35:29Speaker 1: that I'm in.
- 35:30Speaker 2: It's part of the gig we already were prepping accordingly,
- 35:37Speaker 2: Scarlett has her very first cheerleading UH uniform is a
- 35:41Speaker 2: DCC cheer uniform that she was gifted on her first birthday.
- 35:46Speaker 2: It will fit her probably around November ish, would be
- 35:49Speaker 2: my guess.
- 35:51Speaker 1: That's when you start pushing for a title. November. Yes, sir,
- 35:54Speaker 1: you don't win a championship in September, no August, no
- 35:58Speaker 1: October even.
- 36:01Speaker 2: It's in November when the championships are won. And then
- 36:05Speaker 2: that led to now she's getting a TCU uniform, So
- 36:09Speaker 2: now I gotta take action. Dad's gotta be a good
- 36:12Speaker 2: dad for his team. I'll get her a Baylor uniform.
- 36:14Speaker 2: My mom is ordering her in Alabama cheer uniform. So
- 36:19Speaker 2: now it's just the battle of the cheer uniform.
- 36:21Speaker 4: Don't yeah for Charlotte. Don't let it come in. Lose
- 36:24Speaker 4: the package, Scout. The package didn't come in.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Oh honey, oh no, what about the ut one that
- 36:31Speaker 2: you didn't you order both of those together. They both
- 36:34Speaker 2: didn't show these porch pirates. Dude, it's getting crazy. We
- 36:39Speaker 2: have to get a ring, honey.
- 36:41Speaker 1: The only thing we have to be conscious about is
- 36:44Speaker 1: the empty siccos that tune in. We start talking a
- 36:47Speaker 1: little too much ball, they're gonna be like, this isn't why,
- 36:52Speaker 1: this isn't why we tune into the show. Now what
- 36:55Speaker 1: we can do is, I do think we need like
- 36:58Speaker 1: a week one, Like, how whoever families out there are
- 37:01Speaker 1: getting their kiddos ready for football season, because whether your
- 37:05Speaker 1: hubbies is obviously it's the hubby, but I know there's
- 37:07Speaker 1: some empty sicicos that love their ball as well. But however,
- 37:10Speaker 1: you're dressing up the kiddos. Maybe we do like a
- 37:12Speaker 1: roller dex at the end of the sod like shouting
- 37:14Speaker 1: out and showing off all the photos game gear, yeah,
- 37:17Speaker 1: game day gear, the fans that that there are audiences
- 37:20Speaker 1: in I love that idea. Just you gotta embrace the season,
- 37:24Speaker 1: you do. And what hey?
- 37:26Speaker 2: And when I racked my brain and I said that
- 37:28Speaker 2: podcast staff podcasts, what would.
- 37:30Speaker 1: The empty sicicos want to hear about? Guess what?
- 37:32Speaker 2: I pivoted my cracker cold one too. Scarlett is about
- 37:35Speaker 2: to move up a class in daycare.
- 37:37Speaker 1: There you go, yeah, hell, that's gonna get them going.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Talk about the move of the daycons.
- 37:44Speaker 2: She's growing up, she's getting older, and all the moms
- 37:48Speaker 2: are like, that's the ship we're looking for. There we go,
- 37:50Speaker 2: sirp they didn't, but that is my crack. A cold
- 37:54Speaker 2: one can steal your lollipop. Deck good toss, good time,
- 38:01Speaker 2: good tak logo, Oh strawberry vanilla. Scarlett is moving up
- 38:12Speaker 2: a class here very soon.
- 38:13Speaker 1: She has not moved up yet.
- 38:16Speaker 2: I'm talking about it today because I think I'm kind
- 38:19Speaker 2: of I'm mentally preparing myself. The sadness of her growing
- 38:27Speaker 2: up is really starting to hit me in a real way.
- 38:30Speaker 2: She just crawled up our stairs all by herself the
- 38:33Speaker 2: other night, and where you know, obviously on either side
- 38:37Speaker 2: of her there to like make sure that she makes it.
- 38:41Speaker 2: We were spotting, we weren't helping her up the stairs.
- 38:44Speaker 2: She crawled the whole way.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Gets to the top. It's like a hell, Mary just landed, dude.
- 38:49Speaker 1: It was awesome.
- 38:51Speaker 2: It was so sick. I even told her, I was like,
- 38:53Speaker 2: look look at what you just did. Look down there.
- 38:56Speaker 2: You just climb that and just her tea dude, like
- 39:01Speaker 2: her daycare teachers like, we love them.
- 39:06Speaker 1: They love Scarlet.
- 39:07Speaker 2: You have like all these little things that they like
- 39:09Speaker 2: help teach Scarlet in their class. But now she's moving
- 39:12Speaker 2: up to the older class. And it's like, oh, before
- 39:15Speaker 2: she goes up to the older class, she needs to
- 39:16Speaker 2: be only one nap a day. She needs to only
- 39:19Speaker 2: be doing passes when she's napping, and no bottles, she
- 39:23Speaker 2: needs sippy cups with straws, and like there's all these
- 39:27Speaker 2: like benchmarks and I'm like, is this middle school?
- 39:31Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Like I'm like, I'm like, dude, this is crazy. Like
- 39:35Speaker 2: she's moving up a whole grade and she's got to
- 39:38Speaker 2: get her big girl on, which makes me really sad.
- 39:41Speaker 2: But she is getting her big girl on, which is
- 39:42Speaker 2: really cool. I like it in the same breath. But
- 39:46Speaker 2: then I still walk into that, Like even this morning,
- 39:49Speaker 2: I walked into her class and she's a late birthday July,
- 39:53Speaker 2: so a lot of her classmates have also moved up.
- 39:56Speaker 2: She misses her friends and it's like an actual tangible
- 40:00Speaker 2: thing that's crazy that like when she sees her friends
- 40:03Speaker 2: they used to be in her class, she gets excited
- 40:06Speaker 2: and wants to play with them. And now she's in
- 40:09Speaker 2: this room with like a bunch of babies there on
- 40:11Speaker 2: their little half moon donut little pillow thing, yeah, where
- 40:16Speaker 2: they're laying on their backs, starfished out, and it's like, yeah,
- 40:19Speaker 2: you're not that anymore, like you're you're all grown up and.
- 40:25Speaker 1: It's wild.
- 40:27Speaker 2: It's like really it's really sad, but it is a
- 40:30Speaker 2: if you will crack a cold.
- 40:32Speaker 1: One, yeah, absolutely, I feel you, bro. Like yesterday Rue
- 40:36Speaker 1: started theater camp. It's over by the house, but I'm
- 40:40Speaker 1: driving her to drop her off. But it's the kind
- 40:42Speaker 1: of like first camp where there's no friends or people
- 40:45Speaker 1: that she kind of knows. Yeah, and it's drop off,
- 40:48Speaker 1: like they don't let you in the door, you kind
- 40:49Speaker 1: of check in and they walk in the door themselves.
- 40:52Speaker 1: So it's me a bunch of parents and a bunch
- 40:53Speaker 1: of kids kind of standing outside before the door's open
- 40:56Speaker 1: up to check in. But as we're driving over there,
- 40:58Speaker 1: and I'm like, who are you excited theater camp? Like
- 41:00Speaker 1: I'm kind of nervous for her because my damn, she's
- 41:02Speaker 1: going in like rude, being four, Like she's going in
- 41:05Speaker 1: none of her friends or people that she knows, is
- 41:07Speaker 1: going to be there, and I'm like, I wonder how
- 41:08Speaker 1: she's feeling. Yea, like, sweetheart, are you excited for theater camp?
- 41:12Speaker 1: Like how are you feeling right now? Like what are
- 41:13Speaker 1: your emotions? And whe'res driving over and she's like, I'm
- 41:15Speaker 1: She talks about being nervous, like I'm nervous. I'm like, oh, sweetheart,
- 41:19Speaker 1: that's a good thing. That means you got a little fear.
- 41:22Speaker 1: You're also a little excited because it's new and you're
- 41:25Speaker 1: gonna be You're gonna try and make new friends. Yeah,
- 41:28Speaker 1: Like this is a great time to use your confident voice,
- 41:30Speaker 1: like how you've been loving She's she's been on a
- 41:33Speaker 1: kick of introducing herself to people, like saying like like Dad,
- 41:36Speaker 1: I want to say tell them that I'm Rue and
- 41:38Speaker 1: stuff like that, like Hi, I'm Rue and like what's
- 41:41Speaker 1: your name. I'm like, this is a great time to
- 41:42Speaker 1: practice that. And I'm like, Daddy gets Daddad gets nervous
- 41:46Speaker 1: for absolutely everything new that I do. Every time I'm
- 41:50Speaker 1: going to do something new, whether it's a new environment,
- 41:52Speaker 1: a new thing, a new challenge, whatever it is, I'm
- 41:55Speaker 1: always a little scared because I don't know how it's
- 41:58Speaker 1: going to turn out, I'm also a little excited because
- 42:00Speaker 1: I'm just like giddy and happy. I was like, it's
- 42:03Speaker 1: totally fine and totally natural to be nervous, and we
- 42:05Speaker 1: kind of talk through the emotion of it all. But
- 42:07Speaker 1: when we get there at the door, I can tell
- 42:10Speaker 1: she's just being really shy, like to a point to
- 42:11Speaker 1: where she gets a couple tears in her eyes and
- 42:13Speaker 1: she's like wiping her eyes before she walks in, and
- 42:15Speaker 1: I'm just like, God, can I please walk in there
- 42:18Speaker 1: with her, just to make sure. But she's like, uh, hi,
- 42:22Speaker 1: Like what's your name? She's like rue. She hits her room,
- 42:24Speaker 1: I'm like last name. Confidence. She kind of checks her
- 42:26Speaker 1: off the list and goes in, and I was like,
- 42:28Speaker 1: gonna walk in there with her because I could tell
- 42:29Speaker 1: she's just kind of getting over being like just super nervous.
- 42:32Speaker 1: And then the lady kind of just stops me and
- 42:34Speaker 1: she just gives me being super sweet and she's like,
- 42:36Speaker 1: we got it, don't worry, and I'm like, Okay, it's
- 42:38Speaker 1: this is as much for me as it is for me.
- 42:40Speaker 1: I just got to turn around and walk away. Yeah,
- 42:43Speaker 1: she loved it, she had a great time, But I
- 42:45Speaker 1: thought I empathize on them going up to a new
- 42:48Speaker 1: level being around new kids, like just new atmosphere. It's
- 42:51Speaker 1: like just like the emotion that you feel as a
- 42:52Speaker 1: parent them growing up. Like just all the things, man,
- 42:57Speaker 1: all the things. But my crack a cold one this
- 42:59Speaker 1: week and shout out Ollipop, especially the the ras, the
- 43:04Speaker 1: raspberry sorbet, raspberry sir Bert, Oh my crack of cole one.
- 43:10Speaker 1: This week is going to go to Scottie Jolie tough.
- 43:13Speaker 1: This chef rolled the video. Now, if you watched the video, shirm,
- 43:22Speaker 1: Now do you have your phone on you? Yes, I'll
- 43:25Speaker 1: watch the video real quick and then we'll come in.
- 43:30Speaker 8: Here.
- 43:30Speaker 1: You go, Scotty, pump your arms up, your arms.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Okay, oh, welcome to the A gap ready said go go?
- 43:48Speaker 9: Oh my god, yeah.
- 43:56Speaker 1: That's good tough? Yes, yes, yes, how about that one?
- 44:07Speaker 1: Does that get the blood going below the belt? Dude?
- 44:10Speaker 1: Can I? Can I get the blood going even more? Please?
- 44:13Speaker 2: Do lesson of the week? Why do we fall, master
- 44:17Speaker 2: Wain so we can learn to pick ourselves back up again?
- 44:22Speaker 2: I was gonna talk about Scarlet toughness. We're SYNCD, brother,
- 44:29Speaker 2: We're what we're SYNCD up.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Scarlet scarscar had a good tough this moment.
- 44:35Speaker 1: She's just eating ship all the time because she's trying
- 44:37Speaker 1: to learn how to walk and how how is it?
- 44:40Speaker 1: Like uh like in that video when Scotti falls in here,
- 44:43Speaker 1: going up in that in that little felt like a
- 44:48Speaker 1: full minute, and she's like getting up, turn around, doing
- 44:50Speaker 1: all this stuff. I'm just you know, Tron and I
- 44:52Speaker 1: it's like we both like are grabbing ourselves of not
- 44:55Speaker 1: saying any yeah or like having a reaction. Yes. I'm like,
- 44:58Speaker 1: don't say nothing, don't say nothing, don't say I know that.
- 45:00Speaker 1: See how she responds, See how she reacts. Yes, don't
- 45:03Speaker 1: be all scared for because then it might make her cry.
- 45:06Speaker 1: She turns around a mom wipes off her hands, and
- 45:08Speaker 1: she takes off again. I'm like, come on, gokid, there's
- 45:12Speaker 1: no better feeling, no better feeling.
- 45:15Speaker 2: We had a big blow up oyster or clam sorry
- 45:19Speaker 2: at Scarlet's first birthday and the event space and like
- 45:24Speaker 2: some of the family members that got there early to
- 45:26Speaker 2: set up or like putting all this stuff up, I'm
- 45:29Speaker 2: distracting Scarlet while all this is being done. She gets
- 45:33Speaker 2: up on the inflatable clam eats it, but not bad
- 45:37Speaker 2: I've seen her do way worse. And she eats it
- 45:41Speaker 2: and like kind of rolls out onto her stomach and
- 45:45Speaker 2: you could see it was all women in there except
- 45:48Speaker 2: for me, and like four or five of them just
- 45:51Speaker 2: instantly look at Scarlet and everybody's about to be like.
- 45:53Speaker 1: Are you okay? You okay? And I just go whoa, Scarlet, whoa?
- 45:59Speaker 2: That was cool like that and like kind of helping
- 46:02Speaker 2: her up, and she instantly got up and started climbing
- 46:05Speaker 2: back on the clam again.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Yes, sure, yeah, Scarlet, he shoulder and the women there.
- 46:11Speaker 2: Oh, in my head, I was like, oh, that was
- 46:13Speaker 2: so good. That was so good because Jill saw it too.
- 46:17Speaker 2: Jill saw it too, and I've been I've been trying
- 46:19Speaker 2: to kind of preach that what you just talked about,
- 46:22Speaker 2: of like the like they got it yeah.
- 46:25Speaker 1: And Jill's not like, oh honey, you're okay, like every
- 46:29Speaker 1: single time, right, But it's so easy to have just
- 46:31Speaker 1: the natural reaction of like, oh my gosh, are you
- 46:34Speaker 1: are you okay? Yes? Yes, because I got to grab myself.
- 46:38Speaker 1: I've had to grab myself a lot because I'll just
- 46:39Speaker 1: like it's that was in real time in the video
- 46:41Speaker 1: where it's like I'm like, oh, that was and I'm
- 46:45Speaker 1: like I'm hoping it's not loud enough to they hear yeah,
- 46:47Speaker 1: And I'm like, shut up, shut up, like let's see
- 46:49Speaker 1: how is it? Yeah, turn around. And we've also been
- 46:53Speaker 1: teaching her uh oh for little stuff.
- 46:56Speaker 2: Yeah, and the daycare this was this morning. The day
- 47:00Speaker 2: carey said that Scarlet kind of tipped over and fell,
- 47:03Speaker 2: not like a full fall, but lost their balance. It
- 47:05Speaker 2: fell and went oh. Because we've been just teaching that.
- 47:10Speaker 2: I was just like little minor things. I was like,
- 47:13Speaker 2: we haven't even taught her that when you fall over
- 47:17Speaker 2: something that you say uh oh, and that like her
- 47:19Speaker 2: brain just immediately was like, oh that was a mess up.
- 47:23Speaker 2: That's just a little oh. That gets me juiced, It
- 47:28Speaker 2: gets you. It does get the blow for Scotty ate
- 47:31Speaker 2: ship In that just gotta eat shit like Scotti is.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Tough, like Rue not not not so much. I don't
- 47:37Speaker 1: want to say she's a pussy. She's not a pussy.
- 47:39Speaker 1: She's just she's a feeler, she's emotional. I'm trying to
- 47:42Speaker 1: drag my daughter right here on camera. But I see
- 47:47Speaker 1: the iterations of them.
- 47:49Speaker 10: Both hurt people, hurt people, Yeah, and honestly, I see
- 47:55Speaker 10: a lot of myself like in Rue, Like I was
- 47:57Speaker 10: a crier when I was little, Like I was like like.
- 48:00Speaker 1: A lot of things that Rue is. Yeah, Scotti's just
- 48:04Speaker 1: like a bulldog. Scotty's a bulldog. She falls down, she can, dude,
- 48:07Speaker 1: I'm talking pop her head and you're you're doing the
- 48:10Speaker 1: same thing, and she might like you know, start to
- 48:12Speaker 1: cry and get up set or like run over to
- 48:14Speaker 1: you and get a hug and then get back in
- 48:15Speaker 1: almost to where she's mad that she got hurt, yes,
- 48:19Speaker 1: and like oh you do you want me to do whatever?
- 48:21Speaker 1: And they're like no, She's like no, Saudi's turning. Sadi's
- 48:24Speaker 1: turn like, get back down and do it again. Yes,
- 48:26Speaker 1: like Scotty's tough. Yes, you can eat it. That's the
- 48:29Speaker 1: part I want. Because she's bleeding on both knees like
- 48:32Speaker 1: she was from that faont Yeah, she cut up both knees.
- 48:35Speaker 1: That's so sick. Yeah.
- 48:37Speaker 2: The part that I want any listener to hear of
- 48:40Speaker 2: this is it's not like the not crying cry, dude,
- 48:45Speaker 2: cry like ya get it hurt cry.
- 48:48Speaker 1: I want my daughter to like.
- 48:49Speaker 2: Feel missions It's what you just explained, the hunger to
- 48:53Speaker 2: get back in there, is what fires me up.
- 48:56Speaker 1: And that was what I think it was. On this podcast,
- 48:59Speaker 1: I was talking.
- 49:00Speaker 2: About that walker, that huge spill that Scarlet took on
- 49:04Speaker 2: the walker, Yeah, where she literally didn't let go the handlebars,
- 49:07Speaker 2: so she not only hid her head, but she brought
- 49:09Speaker 2: the walker down on her face. And I sat there
- 49:13Speaker 2: for five minutes as Scarlet screaming into Jill's shoulder, being.
- 49:17Speaker 1: Like, honey, we gotta get her back on the walker.
- 49:20Speaker 1: She's gonna be scared of it.
- 49:21Speaker 9: She's never gonna learn to walk.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Yeah, we gotta get her on there.
- 49:25Speaker 2: And before we ever had to force her back on
- 49:27Speaker 2: the walker, as soon as she was done crying, she
- 49:31Speaker 2: wanted right back on that thing and was doing the walker.
- 49:34Speaker 2: And that got me so excited. I was like, dude,
- 49:37Speaker 2: that's like, bottle that up and keep it forever. Yeah,
- 49:41Speaker 2: that needs be so juiced.
- 49:42Speaker 1: And then it just builds and builds and they just
- 49:44Speaker 1: you just see you just see the resilience built over time. Yeah. Yeah,
- 49:49Speaker 1: that rolled into my dad loss kind of I'm not
- 49:52Speaker 1: gonna say, motherfucked. That was a motherfucked. Talked to me
- 49:55Speaker 1: very calmly. This is what happened yesterday. Yesterday after this
- 49:58Speaker 1: walk because we were what is that cheek wood? Yeah,
- 50:01Speaker 1: going around cheek wood. We go home. It's probably seven
- 50:04Speaker 1: thirty when we get home, so a little like it's
- 50:06Speaker 1: past Scotty's bedtime, like you can just tell. Like they
- 50:08Speaker 1: were run around. Rue's on her scooter the whole time,
- 50:10Speaker 1: like their energy's low. Rue wanted to hear a Little Mermaid,
- 50:14Speaker 1: the Little Mermaid Song when we got in the house,
- 50:16Speaker 1: so we're playing a Little Mermaid song. A lot of
- 50:18Speaker 1: noise is happening. Scotty and Rue aren't getting along. Scotty's
- 50:21Speaker 1: trying to swing on Rue. Rue kind of pushes you
- 50:24Speaker 1: down because she's trying to keep your distance, but then
- 50:26Speaker 1: two hands are and push you down. Scottie gets mad
- 50:28Speaker 1: and she's just chasing. Rue's running from Scottie and Scotty
- 50:32Speaker 1: just got her like little arms and little body shit
- 50:34Speaker 1: got no quiz. She ain't got no quiz. Chaos is
- 50:38Speaker 1: kind of happening. We left the dishes out after dinner
- 50:42Speaker 1: because Charl's like, we can just do when we get home.
- 50:43Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, sweetheart, and not wanting to hit the
- 50:45Speaker 1: dishes like right after dinner time, not like her holding
- 50:49Speaker 1: something off. Yeah, I can kind of vibe on that.
- 50:52Speaker 1: But it's my turn to do rue for bedtime, Charles
- 50:55Speaker 1: turning to do Scottie Charos starts doing the dishes and
- 50:58Speaker 1: cleaning while the chaos is happening. I'm kind of putting
- 51:02Speaker 1: myself in there by telling them they like, hey, stop
- 51:04Speaker 1: blah blah blah. Yeah, but I'm consuming football content on
- 51:09Speaker 1: the phone. I'm on my phone, okay, so I'm not
- 51:13Speaker 1: like sue him. Yeah. Well, we go upstairs. Ru has
- 51:19Speaker 1: a moment because she wants a cookie and loses her
- 51:22Speaker 1: fucking mind. We end up giving her a piece of
- 51:25Speaker 1: a cookie, which we hated to do because she's crying
- 51:28Speaker 1: to get the fucking cookie, like, hey, we don't operate
- 51:30Speaker 1: that way. We go upstairs and rou wants Oh, she
- 51:32Speaker 1: just tells me that I want to hug Okay, let's
- 51:34Speaker 1: sit here, have the huggy at the cookie. Now. I'm
- 51:36Speaker 1: talking with her about, hey, this shit isn't happening again
- 51:38Speaker 1: to where you cry and get the cookie. I promise you,
- 51:41Speaker 1: I prompt Look at me, I promise you. You cry
- 51:45Speaker 1: again to get a cookie. You're not getting a cookie.
- 51:47Speaker 1: You're gonna be very upset, very mad, very angry, and
- 51:49Speaker 1: you're gonna go up to your room and you're gonna
- 51:51Speaker 1: be upset at us because we're not going to give
- 51:52Speaker 1: you a cookie, because we give you a cookie after
- 51:54Speaker 1: or we give you what you want after you cry.
- 51:57Speaker 1: You're gonna just think all I need to do is cry,
- 51:59Speaker 1: cry for it. That's not happening. What's she saying in
- 52:01Speaker 1: this moment? She's looking at me, she's not and I'm like,
- 52:04Speaker 1: do you understand? And she's like yes. Then she stacks
- 52:06Speaker 1: by the cookie, loving the cookie, the fucking cookie. Yeah,
- 52:10Speaker 1: the fucking cookie. Charlo comes up, she's getting Scottie ready
- 52:13Speaker 1: for bed. Charle comes over because Charle kind of snaps
- 52:16Speaker 1: at Rue when she's crying about the cookie. Charle's like,
- 52:19Speaker 1: stand up, come over here, here's your cookie. Like gets it,
- 52:21Speaker 1: gets mad at her, gets in her ass a little bit.
- 52:24Speaker 1: Charle comes out from cleaning Scottie up and just telling
- 52:27Speaker 1: to like, hey, I'm sorry for snapping on you. There's
- 52:29Speaker 1: a lot of stuff going on. Then Charles looks to me, Okay, yeah,
- 52:33Speaker 1: it's me and Rue were sitting there cuddled on the couch.
- 52:36Speaker 1: You know, I kind of my back and forth with Rue.
- 52:39Speaker 1: She goes saying, hey, I'm sorry for snapping on you.
- 52:41Speaker 1: There's a lot happening. She's like, hey, babe, it's nobody's fault.
- 52:48Speaker 1: But in my brain, when I was doing the dishes,
- 52:52Speaker 1: I'm thinking, Okay, i'll do the dishes. You'll take the
- 52:54Speaker 1: kids upstairs and get them ready for bed, because clearly
- 52:57Speaker 1: they're all yelling, they're all screaming, they're not getting along.
- 53:00Speaker 1: Music's playing like it's past their bedtime. So I assumed
- 53:04Speaker 1: I shouldn't have assumed. Next time, i'll communicate. And I'm like, fuck,
- 53:09Speaker 1: because you're already like I need to be thinking. We
- 53:11Speaker 1: need to be on the same wavelengths. She's like, but
- 53:12Speaker 1: I need you to be a better teammate and just
- 53:14Speaker 1: get the kids upstairs to get ready for bed. Like
- 53:17Speaker 1: I don't know what you were doing, she could assume,
- 53:19Speaker 1: And I'm already in my head like, fuck, I was watching.
- 53:21Speaker 1: While I was watching, I was on my phone. Yeah,
- 53:24Speaker 1: She's like, I'm handling dishes and you're kind of just
- 53:26Speaker 1: waiting for I don't know what, and then we're both
- 53:30Speaker 1: getting the kids upstairs. But I just I need you
- 53:33Speaker 1: to be a better teammate and kind of see that
- 53:35Speaker 1: ahead of time. Yeah, because She's like, if you would
- 53:37Speaker 1: have done the dishes, I would have got the kids
- 53:38Speaker 1: going upstairs like we normally do. And I'm like, I
- 53:41Speaker 1: feel a little bit of like anger in my body
- 53:45Speaker 1: because again I'm getting checked, and in that moment, I
- 53:48Speaker 1: like feel this fizzle of like I was waiting on,
- 53:51Speaker 1: like you're on Scotty. Like Scotty's clearly that passed her bedtime.
- 53:54Speaker 1: I'm not going to take a route before Scotty because
- 53:56Speaker 1: it should be I'm like making shit up in my
- 53:58Speaker 1: head but feeling it anything, and I'm just like, Okay,
- 54:02Speaker 1: I'm sorry and we just go. But I felt like
- 54:06Speaker 1: I had a a very calm, stern talking to yeah,
- 54:10Speaker 1: where my wife hits rue and then she slowly turns
- 54:13Speaker 1: to me and she's like, I'm babe, now you honey. Yeah,
- 54:18Speaker 1: that's a good dad boss. That's a good dad boss
- 54:22Speaker 1: to learn for sure.
- 54:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's a good learn You quite literally just
- 54:27Speaker 2: explained a situation three four nights ago for me.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Yeah, of almost. You know how some of those can
- 54:33Speaker 1: go sideways, Like yes, I'm happy that she did calmly
- 54:38Speaker 1: talk to me, because that can go you know, that
- 54:39Speaker 1: can go a million different directions. You just kind of
- 54:42Speaker 1: start arguing back and forth, but I was getting talking
- 54:45Speaker 1: to on the couch just like rue us. Yeah. Yeah's
- 54:51Speaker 1: like in my arm. Charle walks off to go back
- 54:53Speaker 1: in there, and I was like, we kind of both
- 54:54Speaker 1: got to talking to you there, didn't we. And She's like,
- 54:57Speaker 1: yeah that dad.
- 55:02Speaker 2: Oh man, that's a good dad loss. That's a good
- 55:06Speaker 2: dad loss.
- 55:07Speaker 1: But anyway, that was my uh, that was my my
- 55:10Speaker 1: dad loss of the week, My dad laws. Oh dude,
- 55:16Speaker 1: dogs dogs, dogs is what I wrote down? Yeah, I
- 55:20Speaker 1: wrote down dogs.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Dogs dogs, Dude. There were some This is such. This
- 55:26Speaker 2: is probably one of those types of conversations that gets
- 55:28Speaker 2: you in trouble on a podcast. But I'll just go
- 55:31Speaker 2: ahead and dog's got in a way this morning. Yeah, dude, dogs.
- 55:34Speaker 2: Yeah it uh. It was brought up that the dogs
- 55:39Speaker 2: need to go on vacation to their grandma's house in Texas.
- 55:42Speaker 1: For vacation, like permanent vacation. That's what I freestrained that.
- 55:48Speaker 2: And the way he just asked that question, my exact
- 55:51Speaker 2: response to my wife. My exact response to my wife
- 55:57Speaker 2: because a part of the so lay this out.
- 56:00Speaker 1: Something happened with the dogs and you and Jill sitting
- 56:02Speaker 1: down and she goes, maybe the dogs need to go
- 56:03Speaker 1: on vacation to Grandma's, like.
- 56:05Speaker 2: A permanent vacation, and I go, I Jill, because this
- 56:13Speaker 2: question was asked when Scarlett was only a couple weeks
- 56:15Speaker 2: old and Lisa was in town, and we have the kennels,
- 56:18Speaker 2: and Lisa could have driven back with them.
- 56:19Speaker 1: Lisa is my mother in law.
- 56:21Speaker 2: Love you, Lisa, And I had to like really stand
- 56:29Speaker 2: up and puff my chest out.
- 56:30Speaker 1: To keep the dogs, which they do you.
- 56:34Speaker 2: Maybe saying they're scratching your nog and saying, Sherman, I
- 56:37Speaker 2: thought you told your wife these are her dogs and
- 56:40Speaker 2: it got you in the doghouse not two weeks ago. Yes,
- 56:44Speaker 2: you're right on that, but I feel obligated of like
- 56:50Speaker 2: almost like a marriage pact of like I said that
- 56:53Speaker 2: these are my dogs. I said that I'm going to
- 56:56Speaker 2: take care of these damn dogs until their last breath.
- 57:00Speaker 2: And I'm quitting on these dogs. If I send him
- 57:03Speaker 2: back to Texas. It's ripping my heart out. I don't
- 57:08Speaker 2: want to send him back to Texas. So just for clarity,
- 57:12Speaker 2: Jill's like, yes, permanent vacation. Yeah, but Jill, and sorry,
- 57:18Speaker 2: this isn't like a Jill versus Sherman. This is just
- 57:21Speaker 2: a conversation that Jill and I are having. Yeah, we
- 57:23Speaker 2: are in the midst of this conversation, and you're.
- 57:26Speaker 1: In your head thinking of all, like, man, I'm quitting
- 57:29Speaker 1: my dogs right now.
- 57:29Speaker 2: If I yeads, Dude, I like feel like I'm a
- 57:32Speaker 2: really bad dog owner.
- 57:33Speaker 1: What's the problem? Like what had happened that? What thing
- 57:37Speaker 1: happened that led to that converse?
- 57:38Speaker 2: Dude, It's just constant. It's just constant with the dog stuff.
- 57:42Speaker 2: Like it's a ton of added responsibility. They're both really
- 57:46Speaker 2: small breeds. They require a lot of attention. Jill's putting
- 57:51Speaker 2: a ton of attention into Scarlet, as am I. But
- 57:54Speaker 2: also like dogs are kind of my assignment. Yeah, a
- 57:58Speaker 2: new house, new issues with else yeah, or scheduling, yes, Scarlet, yes, dude.
- 58:05Speaker 2: And I mean truthfully, I was fifteen minutes late today
- 58:08Speaker 2: because of Wrigley. Like I went outside and God forbid
- 58:12Speaker 2: that fucking animal net. He got underneath the animal net somehow,
- 58:18Speaker 2: And I've gone back to the animal net three times
- 58:21Speaker 2: to like patch places where like he has gotten out
- 58:24Speaker 2: and he's just finding these ways to get out, and
- 58:28Speaker 2: I'm running around the house. I have scarlet in my arms.
- 58:30Speaker 2: I've called his name five million times. I'm about to
- 58:35Speaker 2: give up.
- 58:36Speaker 3: I do think you need to invest a little thought
- 58:39Speaker 3: into the invisible fence shot calling. Yeah, because the amount
- 58:43Speaker 3: of effort, energy, money you got to see Blake shirtless,
- 58:47Speaker 3: all the stuff that has come from you putting this
- 58:49Speaker 3: fence in.
- 58:49Speaker 4: Now.
- 58:50Speaker 3: I have heard from people we've never done. I heard
- 58:52Speaker 3: from people that the invisible fence shot caller. Yeah, it
- 58:56Speaker 3: just genuinely is the one for you.
- 58:58Speaker 1: And they're not the expensive anymore more. Yeah you can,
- 59:01Speaker 1: Yeah you can.
- 59:01Speaker 4: They're very very cheap options out there that that is
- 59:06Speaker 4: the ultimate, Like, hey, you don't want to run off And.
- 59:09Speaker 1: When this fence is a recurring theme on this show,
- 59:12Speaker 1: you bring up the fence, every fence.
- 59:14Speaker 3: When this is becoming your new airport, the dogs are
- 59:17Speaker 3: becoming his new airport.
- 59:18Speaker 1: The new raccoon.
- 59:19Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, sure, you put one in. Regley
- 59:23Speaker 4: tries to get out twice. He'll never try to get
- 59:24Speaker 4: out again. It just takes it takes two.
- 59:26Speaker 1: It takes.
- 59:27Speaker 4: Yeah, no fun getting shocked, But I promise you won't
- 59:30Speaker 4: try to run out again.
- 59:31Speaker 1: You'll even test it on yourself. Yeah, yeah, we should,
- 59:34Speaker 1: We should test it. Oh yeah, we had one for uh,
- 59:37Speaker 1: for our dogs growing up. I had one for Tazoul
- 59:41Speaker 1: fucking Sometimes he'd eat it and keep walking through.
- 59:45Speaker 2: That's where that's where sugar our yellow labs. She got
- 59:48Speaker 2: to the age where she was like, I just.
- 59:49Speaker 1: Don't give a ship.
- 59:50Speaker 2: Yeah, don't give a ship, like I feel like Waffle
- 59:53Speaker 2: would eat it.
- 59:53Speaker 1: Well, no, Waffle doesn't wander off at all. Yeah, but yeah,
- 59:57Speaker 1: Taz would fucking eat that. Shouldn't keep going through And
- 59:59Speaker 1: we do with me and the boys, like we putting
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: the shot collar on it. We'll go go over there
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: and do it.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Well, it's like a cop you you're not able to
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: hold a taser on your belt until you have been tased. Yeah,
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: I think the same should apply for me.
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: There's also a very clear I didn't realize delineation between
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: when you send the dog on vacation, you're sending them
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: with a loved one, when you send them to the
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: farm the other thing.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, didn't know the difference, not a farm, going.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: To grandma's house, which they lived at grandma's house for
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: like five years, so like they love Grandma's house. That's
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: where Jill first brought him home. I appreciate just the
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: like literally, the conversation that we just had right now
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: brought my stress levels down. It provided me with an answer,
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: It provided me with something that I should try.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: Sure, sorry, go ahead, Well, I was just gonna say.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: I think the dogs also provide a little bit of
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: a challenge in responsibility for me and I it feels
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: like I am not only quitting the dogs, but it
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: feels like I'm quitting because that was the easiest thing
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: to do. That was just the easiest solution, is just
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: send them to fort work.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: As dog lovers listen, I love dogs for me A
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: chip and the Grandma's not a bad take. If I
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: could be the age that people are gonna beat six
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: like people are like, bro, people are gonna lose their mind.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: I know, I know, I know, I know they're going
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: to lose their minds.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: If you win this internal battle with your head, may
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: I mind shift you real quick? Yeah, you are presenting
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: your daughter with a childhood with dogs, in which I
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: believe is the best childhood. So by you trying the
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: invisible fence, I do believe you are sending your beautiful
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: daughter on a projected path to grow up with dogs,
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: which I don't know your two dogs. That is my
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: I loved all the dogs we had growing up. I
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: get your opinion, Will and I don't think that if
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: the electric fence doesn't work, let's have another conversation. I
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: think that if you win this internal battle of these
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: dogs in your head, you're providing your family with a fun,
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: awesome experience.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Other thing that I left out, other thing that I
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: left out.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: I'm becoming a cranky dad. You're you're just still sick, dude.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: It's not your fault. I don't what you just said. Yeah,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: you are right. Like, we had this conan Rottwiler that
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: I grew up with until about ten. Then we had
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: three other dogs in the house of this until I
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: left for college.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: Here here's the kicker that I did not include or
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: that I forgot to mention. Wrigley snipped at Scarlett. He
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: did not try to bite her, but he did a
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: full on snip at her and like a and.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: I was like, bro, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: You're about to punch your ticket, about to punch your
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: ticket back to Texas to doing shit like that. And
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: then we're hanging out with one of our nurse friends
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: like family, friends and we were telling them about the
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: dog situation, and she showed us a friend of theirs
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: was back home that their little three year old got
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: attacked by their dog and showed me the face of
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: the little three year old girl in the hospital.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: Bro, I was like, Waffle, remember when Waffle Scottie? Yes, bro,
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: like over her eyes or like on her head. Yes,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: she got cut from it. Did I remember when I
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: came home and Audrey was telling me about it, And
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: I'm just thinking to myself, God, part of me like almost, well,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: it's probably good that I wasn't there, but like wishes
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: I would have been there, because there are times where
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I just I joke. It's like a running joke with Charro.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: I'm like, you just let me know when Yeah, I
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: mean that's kind of that's like like something wall jumping
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: on the front, like all the stuff that dogs can
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: irritate you with.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: And so now Wrigley's just behind a baby gate like
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: at all times when Scarlet's like on the ground because
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: I don't want to interacting with Scarlet.
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: Have you done like have you done like any kind
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: of like active training or no. See, that's a big
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: thing because when we got Scotty. Alex had two cats.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: Scotty wanted to go see the cats, and we were like,
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: this is a big issue because we didn't know how
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: they're gonna interact. It took us thirty minutes with like
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: one training exercise we searched on YouTube with food. Scotty
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: has never touched a cat, like not a problem. So
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: there's certain things like if you're having issues, maybe a
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: little YouTube, little Google, Like there's a lot of people
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: that are experts. They will teach you like food training exercises,
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: different things you can do to like mitigate problems. For us,
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: it took thirty minutes of like basically just making sure
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: Scotti stopped looking at the cats.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Every time she stopped looking, we gave her a treat.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: It never but also think about not having the responsibility anymore.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: Dude, Well, by no weak, I know, and I know
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: Chef you need Mick in your back and I know Chef.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: I'll leave us at that because we can uh break
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: and then hit voicemails like immediately after.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Yeah, we can get into voicemails. This could be an
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: ongoing conversation. I do kind of enjoy playing the heel
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: of you playing the heel.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: I appreciate you playing the heel because like a part
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: of me does hear that.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: And they're going to Grandma's like they're going to They're
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: going they've lived there for five years before. You're not
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: sending them again. You're not just kind of giving them away,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: No give it. You're tting them go to Grandma's. You're
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: they're going to have a better life, have a better life. Yeah,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: you're gonna have a better marriage. Dude. Just watch the
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: comments though, Just watch the gu I know already Deeke
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: is probably a lot of the comments, Like I know,
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Deeke is a you got dogs at europsessed with, don't
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: you Deeke? Like I know like dog lovers, Like, yeah,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: they're they're gonna be swinging the sword for keeping the animals. Yeah.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: I've like for ninety percent of my life probably out
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: outside of what college, college and then the first couple
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: of years in the NFL, Like I didn't have a dog,
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: but I've always had a dog. I've always loved dogs.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: But now then I'm a parent. I just it's I
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: feel like it's all different for me now, especially when
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: the whole snipping and the whole territorial stuff like I
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: have a bulldog, So waffles, like Waffle can be territorial
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: if they want Waffle to move on the couch or
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: Waffle helps herself up to the stepping stool that they're
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: eating on, trying to like get the scraps or get
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: the food. Yeah, like Waffle and I go toes often,
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: you know how, jumping on pressure and not getting down
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: when I'm telling her off. Yeah, when we've trained her
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: with the treats and everything else and she starts like growling. Yeah,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: you know how.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: Like in books and movies and stuff, like back in
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: the fifties and sixties, like if someone got pregnant out
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: of wedlock, it was like, oh, they went to school,
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: like in the Northeast, Like they went to a boarding
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: school for a year, sure, and then all of a
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: sudden they're back to like hide the pregnancy. That's how
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: I feel about Like when people send their dogs to
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: grandma's house, Like no one wants to talk about it,
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: because we have had a couple of friends that have
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: done that.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like, oh, where's you know, where's hang on?
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: Hang on?
- 1:07:42Speaker 11: That?
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: Would they say, like, what's their experience been sending them
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: to grandma's I mean it's been great for them, sad,
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: and they're like one of the best decisions we've ever made.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: Yeah, but they also hardly talk about it because they're like, well, yeah,
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: they're really.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: To get shunned, Like, think of the people that I
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: be battling swinging this for. I look, I love animals.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: Yeah it doesn't sound like it. I know because I
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: love I get.
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: I get where you're coming, like it's taking care of
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: a dog is not. It's a hard thing. And they're
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: constantly like.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: I love my own freedoms more than I love.
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: You have to go out of your own way to
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: care for them like a lot. Yeah, also a lot
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: of responsibility. Well yeah, it's a good learning lesson to
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: your daughters that hey, just because something's hard, we are
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: helping take care of this. Awesome awesome, But right.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: Now the kids would get more out of it when
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: they're older and they have like responsibility involved with the animal.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: That's fair and you go in there like getting a
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: dog and teaching them and showing them how to take
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: care for a dog, and then it feels like a
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: tribal thing, like right now when they're young and there
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: really is nothing that they can do it's you're just
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: juggling extra responsibilities that you start to question, like why
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: are we even doing this to ourselves? And it's not
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: like you're giving the dog away to random people.
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: Like for example, if I had something like I have
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: been my Fances River, if something happened with the dogs,
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: I would talk to my parents about it because they
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: just lost their dog last year. Yeah, and so my
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: mom has said like, hey, I will take Bean for
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: like three months and hang out like she really wants
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: it up if they don't want a new dog. So
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: I don't think you're gonna get as bast as you
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: believe you are, because this isn't you going that's it.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: We're taking them to the pound. We'll put them up
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: for adoption, like you're.
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: Putting them in a situation they've already been in that
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: they love that you will still be a part of
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: them and see them.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: You can FaceTime all the time, and the and the
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: end conversation dogs have phone.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: That is true that Grandma, hey, hey, put on the phone.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Hey buddy, god, I miss was just in the corner.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: Two birds up. I'm a king here. I love it,
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: but fuck you.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: That's the other thing I've done a really bad job
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: of telling this story. There's also the not like permanent vacation,
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: but just vacation. It's also another thing that has been
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: thrown out. And Jill's not like staunchly sit there like
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: get the dogs out of here.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: She's bringing it up. Okay, we all feel the chaos. Yeah,
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: like I stead of just building up resentment over time
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: having little separate thoughts, just sit down and have a conversation. Yeah,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: would it be insane to think that we could send
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: the dogs on a vacation and permanent not I either won.
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: Lisa has brought it up. My parents have brought it up.
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: They can tell how much the dogs like way, if
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: that makes sense, Yeah, yeah, yeah man.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: And so I'm just in this internal battle git a
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: package deal both.
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: I also brought that up because I was like, Goose
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: would never hurt a fly, he would never snip at Scarlett,
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: and you gotta separate him. That's what Jill said. Jill
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: was like, all they've ever known is each other.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: I said, that's not true.
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: Wriggley lived there for like three years without.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Goose and he hates Goose.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: She's like they were playing this morning. It's like that
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: is true. They were playing this morning. But Wrigley does.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: Though, like the top dog, he's getting moved out of
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: the rotation. Yeah, well, dude, we talk about resentment on Goose,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: like Cam Newton said it, the Reaper comes for all
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: of us.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: Man, Yeah, truly, really, that poor guy. It was just
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: him and Jill and then Jill brings me into the
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: picture and he's like, I guess, I mean he's cool.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: He gives me rubs. I'll like this Sherman guy. We
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: end up having a great bond. Then all of a sudden,
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Goose comes into the picture and he's like, wtf, question
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: Mark is going on with this dude? This guy sucks.
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: And then like started coming around to that. And then
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: we bring Scarlet into the picture. And if it weren't
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: for the food scraps that fall on my dog every
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: single night and morning, he would hate Scarlet. Yeah, and
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: he's not fully territorial, but we do. We do need
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: to take all the little dogs. Get that little dogs
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: enter guy. Yeah, yeah, they get that little dog syndrome.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: He's got that little dogs in.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: Let's hit some voicemails. Let's hit some voicemails. V mail
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: six and one. The dads you want to call in

- 1:12:37Speaker 1: Earlier today.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: I don't think there is a drink that has taken
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: over my taste buds quite like Ollipop, A guiltless drink
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: as well, one that I feel good when I pick
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: up an Ollipop.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: When I choose Ollipop.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: I truly am like, man, what a great decision I
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: just made, not only taste wise, but I just feel

- 1:15:25Speaker 2: wait just a second before we get in the voicemails.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: We do. As I alluded to early in the episode,
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: we have an update from Heavy the Brave. This is
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: from our dad, Dylan Payne, he emailed in Heavy the
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: Brave update, what's up, fellas. I hope this message finds
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: you well, which means Will has overcome his bout. This
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: is He's the one who said Possidis, oh no, overcome
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: his bout.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: With Posidas and Shurham hasn't slept on the couch for
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: three or more days.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: Come on, hey, I'm joking here, freaking sue me, he said,
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: Jersey accent. He said Jersey accent. Dylan already starting off
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: with some hot fire legend. I'm writing in with an
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: Eavy the Brave update for all those who heard Everly's
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: story and especially to those who showed us love and support,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: that's just a cough and helped forge our tiny warrior's
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: sword and shield two months ago as she geared up
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: for what ended up being a nine hour battle on
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: the operating table. And again, just to remind you guys,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: Evy the Brave had a tumor right next to her spine.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: Every the Brave not only understood the assignment, she rewrote
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: the whole damn syllabus. This sweet little girl showed us
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: that expectations are only there so she can shatter them,
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: and recovery timelines don't mean diddy shit to the bravest
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: and baddest now three years old little girl either side
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: of the Mississippi, Everly walked out of Memorial Sloan Kettering
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: Hospital five days after her surgery. We were told to
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: expect ten to fourteen days, and we were cleared to
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: fly home five days after that. Every speedy recovery was
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: not only miraculous to my wife and myself, but it
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: even had surgeons and doctors in awe. That confirms what
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: I've been saying all along. This little girl is built different,
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: built for the a gap, a couple of anxiety field.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: Weeks after returning home, we received the pathology of the tumor.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: It was the news that we were hoping for. Results
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: were all favorable and no further treatment is needing for
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: the foreseeable future. Why although her tumor was not one
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: hundred percent removed, Everly has been one hundred percent cleared
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: to be a little normal kid again. And nothing gets
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: my pit hodder the knowing we can start signing her
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: up for some gymnastics or soccer or whatever her brave
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: little heart desires. For now, all she can expect is
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: an MRI every three months to make sure nothing has changed.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: For now, life is great. My wife and I wish
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: we could hug and thank each sixer for every Siko
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: who poured into our pink carts, prayers, words of encouragement
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: and positivity in the comments in our inbox. For the
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: dads in this community will forever hold a special play
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: in our hearts. All of you rip so freaking hard,
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: will Sherman the boys in the back can't thank you
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: guys enough for being a part of Evy's journey and
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: rallying the troops, keep cracking Allie's failing to keep it
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: under an hour, and for the love of God, don't
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: stop using accents. Sure him doing his mom's impersonation might
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: be my favorite. Much gratitude and love the Pains, Dylan,
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: thank you. I want to say we got a final
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: here hack from Heavy the Brave with the fam I
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: have a I have a video too from them. I
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: have a video too.
- 1:18:40Speaker 5: It's loading, It's loading, Let's.
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: Go hit the bomb. Wait wait, wait, wait.
- 1:19:17Speaker 11: Oh Bro, I've never laughed that hard and cried at
- 1:19:24Speaker 11: the exact time.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: Quick tears. Bro, I was about to be like, that
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: is medicine for the soul, just getting to like hear
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: about her.
- 1:19:36Speaker 9: Yeah, it's the bog, Bro.
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: That's why we dad man, this is why we did.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: Oh my god, Oh that broke me. That really did
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: just break me. Dylan, thanks for the updates. Brother.
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: We are we are stoked for Evy Heavy. If you
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: are watching, you are a warrior. You are built for

- 1:22:06Speaker 2: not a creep.
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: Sounds like a creep, Trust me, he's not boys.
- 1:22:19Speaker 12: Hey, this might be the last voicemail I leave before prison,
- 1:22:23Speaker 12: so I'll explain. Uh So, earlier today, I am at
- 1:22:30Speaker 12: daycare picking up my daughter, she's three, and she we
- 1:22:38Speaker 12: get her in the car and she's like, Dad, I
- 1:22:39Speaker 12: need to go potty.
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: And I'm like, okay, that's fine.
- 1:22:41Speaker 7: So we go back inside and there's no like boys
- 1:22:46Speaker 7: and girls side, like, nothing's marked.
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: It's all just like potties everywhere. But it's behind the.
- 1:22:52Speaker 13: Wall, right, So so my daughter runs back there and
- 1:22:57Speaker 13: she still need to help going potty. So I run
- 1:23:01Speaker 13: back there and I turned the corner and there is
- 1:23:06Speaker 13: a probably twelve year old girl, somebody's older sibling, and
- 1:23:14Speaker 13: she is going potty.
- 1:23:17Speaker 8: She is sitting on the toilet and she looks up
- 1:23:21Speaker 8: and we make eye contact and there's.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: No like stalls or anything.
- 1:23:27Speaker 8: And I mean, I feel like the biggest griep in
- 1:23:32Speaker 8: the world. So I like this, I was bold, and
- 1:23:36Speaker 8: I am sweating. And then what makes it worse is
- 1:23:40Speaker 8: so I still need to wait there because I need
- 1:23:42Speaker 8: to wait for my daughter to finish.
- 1:23:44Speaker 7: And I mean, there's just this one tiny area to wait.
- 1:23:51Speaker 7: And then this girl finishes and she comes outside and
- 1:23:56Speaker 7: it's still the tiny area to wait because she's got
- 1:23:59Speaker 7: to wait for her other for dad to pick up
- 1:24:01Speaker 7: her brother. And I'm just sitting there, like racking my
- 1:24:07Speaker 7: brain and sweating immensely because I'm like, I'm going to
- 1:24:12Speaker 7: jail for.
- 1:24:13Speaker 8: Being a pervert. Clarifying not a pervert, and I'm like,
- 1:24:21Speaker 8: I do I tell the girl's dad, like, hey, not
- 1:24:24Speaker 8: a pervert. Didn't mean to do this, and it was
- 1:24:29Speaker 8: all bad and I was sweating, and I still had
- 1:24:32Speaker 8: to wait for my daughter to finish.
- 1:24:34Speaker 7: But so she comes out and I see.
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: So that's part one really quick. I don't want to
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: interrupt this story too much. I have a good friend
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: named Scott that listens to the show. Did he say
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: his name was Scott at the beginning?
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: I swear this is my buddy, Scott. I don't think
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: you said a name. Boys. Hey, this might be the
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: last voicemail I leave Kai Kai call Scott.
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: I do that after Yeah, I mean just we're we're
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: mid voice, we're mid voicema. We got no way. Is
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: he a creepy berth or is he a conversation with dad?
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: If this is sir, I'm sorry.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: I walked in your daughter was going to the bathroom.
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: I knew it felt creepy, so I was gonna leave
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: right away, but we locked eyes before I could leave
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: right away. And you know what, I'm talking a little
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: too much right now. Let me just listen. I'm not
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: a perv. I'm not a perth. And that's all you
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: need to know anyway.
- 1:25:29Speaker 12: Uh sorry, second message, not a pervert, uh Scott.
- 1:25:35Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: And I knew it.
- 1:25:38Speaker 14: I knew it by as we leave, They're getting in
- 1:25:42Speaker 14: their car at the same time, and the whole time
- 1:25:44Speaker 14: I'm like literally like right next to this girl and
- 1:25:47Speaker 14: we've not addressed it.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: I haven't told her dad, and I just.
- 1:25:51Speaker 7: Know that tonight she's gonna go home and she's gonna
- 1:25:54Speaker 7: be like dad, Scotty, I'll tell you about what happened,
- 1:25:57Speaker 7: and then they're gonna go back to the school and
- 1:25:59Speaker 7: they're gonna look up the cameras.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: It's gonna be Collin's dad and I'm going to jail.
- 1:26:04Speaker 8: Uh So, anyway, I hope that they let me listen
- 1:26:08Speaker 8: to this podcast in prison.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: I swear I'm innocent. Anyway, Love you voice. I love
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: you too, Scott, Love you Scott. I think it was
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: just a quick there's no stalls. He walked in and
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: was like, oh, sorry, and then maybe he was getting
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: his daughter set up. I could see that.
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: I can see that, But I see where Scott's head
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: is at too. Yeah, because I've known Scott for quite
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: a while. There's actually a really long story on Scott.
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: It's a really good dude. I was on a hunting
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: trip in Oklahoma, and unbeknownst to me, uh, I was
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: invited on what was told to me to be a
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: guided hunt. Uh, we were poaching the entire time, unbeknownst
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: to me. So after a day of hunt and finding
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: out that we were poaching, I start calling around because
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: I'm on the border of Kansas and Oklahoma.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: I rode with these people up there.
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: I have nobody in my world that lives on the
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: border of Kansas, Oklahoma, except for I'll leave his last
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: name Outbat Scott, who lived in Tulsa at the time,
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: And he drove all the way like four hours to
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: pick me up and then drove me all the way
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: back down to uh the border of Texas, Oklahoma to
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: my car in the middle of the night to get
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: me out of the poaching situation.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: Good dude, did you tell the boys you were dipping?
- 1:27:37Speaker 10: Oh?
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: Yeah, bro, I was pissed. I was pissed.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: There was like one thing that I was brought up
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: on and was like, you do not poach, Like that
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: is the lowest of the low poach. You don't do that.
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: And it was like the very end of the first
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: day and this landowner comes out.
- 1:27:54Speaker 9: He's like, ore call the day more and he come
- 1:27:56Speaker 9: and he gonna get you blah blah blah.
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: And I'm like, dude, that guy was crazy because like
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: we're on the like we paid for this hunt. Like
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: that's crazy that he's like coming out and saying we're
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: poaching on stuff.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: And you're like, well, you know, and the boys were like, oh,
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: we kind of are. And I was like, what are
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: you serious?
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: And they're like yeah. I was like, I'm not going
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: to hunt anymore. They're like what, And I just like
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: get in the truck and I'm just like, I'm like,
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: I'm not hunting anymore. I've never been phleasant hunting. I
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: was so excited to go peasant hunting. And I just
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: put my shotgun down and I sat in the back
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: of the truck the rest of the day. And then
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: we got to the motel and they were like, dude,
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: it's a really far drive just to like drive you
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: down and then drive back up to like hunt.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: So we're not going to drive you. You just like hang.
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: Out the motel while we hunt for the next three days.
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: And Scott was the only guy that I could think
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: of that like he went to Oklahoma State. I'm giving
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: away too much about him, but he went to Oklahoma State,
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: and I was like, maybe he lives in Oklahoma.
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: Guy writes in about not being a pervert, and Sherman
- 1:28:58Speaker 4: is just giving multiple details, says he's still on that
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: slightly dodgy story.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: I'm just saying he's a good dude.
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: So I see where his head dad, and I would
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: be in my head just as much.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: He should have gone up to the dad. That's my
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: only note.
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I would have gone up to the
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: dad and been like, hey, lizen or just.
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: That the girl walk said, hey, you know my fault
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: my girls three. I had no clue.
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: We were looking for bathrooms the whole time. We're looking
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: for potties, Mike, I have a kid. I'm here with
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: my kid who need to go partty, Just need to
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: go party.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: That's it. Girl doesn't say a word, and he's like,
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: are we good? You want to desert or something? You know,
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: I shouldn't even say that. I shouldn't even ask the question.
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: I mean that I'm gonna go talk to your father
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: right now. But then what was he saying to the dad? Oh, hey,
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: I don't know what your daughter's gonna say. He's alread
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: putting himself in a bad spot. Mister callaway, I just
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: want you to know, man and man Dad to dad,
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: I had a three year old. We were looking for
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: the bathroom. We walked back in the bathroom. I had
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: to get her set up. Your daughter was in there,
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: and it was very much like oh shit, moment, kind
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: of didn't know what to do. I scream up to
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: get her on. I immediately went outside, stood there waiting
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: on my daughter. Maybe maybe you don't even care, and
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: I'm more nervous. I just feel like I had this
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: on my chest. I had to get it off because
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: I felt like I'm a perver. But I'm I'm not a.
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: P And when my head hits the pillow the night,
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: nobody's gonna be checking footage here at the school, going, oh,
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: that's Cade's dad. Yeah, that would have worked, That would
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: work on me.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: Can I get you guys desert? Maybe a lolly bump
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: or something I happened to have in my car right down.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: But I'm not here.
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: I'm not a candy in my truck that came off
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: from It's from work, Yes, Mary, it's from my daughter.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: She's three, sweetheart, come over here. Agnorable, abnormal. She runs
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: screaming the mom. I where that's my kid? Honey? Can
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: you speak up? Can you help me out?
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: No?
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: I hate you? That's my kid. That's she's funny. She's
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: really funny.
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: Oh man, Yes, Scott said a predicament shout out.
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: Scott. Thanks for calling in, bro, thank you for calling in.
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: I'll be calling you shortly. Emails. Oh we only have
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: one call?

- 1:31:24Speaker 1: we have another V.

- 1:31:26Speaker 2: being stuffed up every week.
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: I don't even want to say the title of this.
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: Don't say the title. Just let it, just let it roll.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: God damn it. My wife took the trash out. I'm
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: a piece of ship, you see, you see what I mean. Yeah,
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: we got back from Italy. I missed the trash that week. Hey,
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: there you go, there you go.

- 1:32:08Speaker 1: Recycling, and guess it, I missed that two weeks ago.
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: Oh actually, when I forgot to take out the recycle
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: that come back. My neighbor has a seven year old daughter.
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: She's out playing behind the house with her dad. Oh,
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: we're so glad you're back from vacation. Blah blah blah.
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: Intern Chris was watching the house. I saw he put
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: out the trash. He did such a good job. His
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: daughter then comes up and goes, yeah, why.
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: Do you trash?
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: Backs fell out though, and it had a bunch of
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: maggots in it.
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: I go, oh good, thank you for the note, Thank
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: you so much. Now I'm gonna be known as gross
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: maggot guy. Don't get the trash out on time, maggots
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: built up? Is that the deal, that's what, that's the deal.
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: Especially with the poopy diapers. Oh god, how's shitty? Do
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: the do the diaper bag smell?
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: Bro? So bad?
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: Do you double bag your diaper bags? I've started doing
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: diaper bag in a scented track?
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: How bad times? I mean ours are pretty locked in tight, yeah,
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: because it's a fight. It's a war to get him out.
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: You have to pay exact same one I have with
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: the circle ring, with the circle ring, and then you
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: have to yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, And then when it's down,
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: you just slide it back and forth.
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: I can see. And then it's like when you're when
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: you're when you're about to change right, or you get
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: the diaper rolled up, get together, you try to go
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: as fasts, you can't because you know the smell is
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: just gonna get in the air for a moment. Bro,
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: it's so bad, so bad.
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: Or when you slide, when you slide it and you
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: just see a diaper right at the very dog, oh I.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: Know, and you gotta kind of push it down, say
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: taking it out right away.
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: Let's see how much more room we got. You try
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: to do it like your fingertips to not touch anything else.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: You're likelease, god, wife, to take this out. Is somebody
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: gonna see this. She has to have seen this. She
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: does majority of the diapers. This is crazy. Oh my god.
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: But yeah, I've been doing the diaper bag into sended
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: trash bag. I don't have a full review on it yet. Okay,
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: but let you know. Yeah, we'll wait for the reason.
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: If that's a dad hack speaking up, dude, So many
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: flies right now?
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: What's going on? We've been getting them at the house, bro,
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: What is going on? I heard our emails fly season.
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: I heard our emails are fun this week? Okay, deep
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: promised you want me to kick it off? Yes, sir,
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: Caleb Gross. My name is Caleb Gross from Central Nebraska,
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: go big red.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: What's up? Fellas curly? Four am sitting in the hospital
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: riding this deep in the trenches. But not for a
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: reason you may think. Yesterday, at about six pm, I
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: was mowing our backyard hill with a push mower. Grass
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: was a little wet, so I slipped and boom. I
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: knew better, but I did it. Anyways. The vision I
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: had in my head became reality. I lost my big toe.
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: Whoa shit? What yelled my wife's name, and she came running.
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: She's ten weeks pregnant. Also, luckily as city worker watch
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: it happen, so he was right there right away to assist.
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: First ride in an ambulance and first overnight stay in
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: a hospital other than kids, haha. Had the first surgery
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: last night to clean it up. What lots of grass
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: and sock remnants in the wound. My wife and I
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: have two kids. My daughter is almost four come September
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: and my son just turned two earlier this summer, and
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: we have one on the way. We are very active,
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: so this will be tough. Got along road to recovery.
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: Lots of physical theory to learn how to walk, is
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: what I'm being told. When my spirits are high, as
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: high as they can be with God on her side,
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: I'm just thankful it wasn't worse than it is. We
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: had plans to go to the lake with some friends
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: this weekend, So the way I look at it is
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: God was protecting us from something this weekend. Thankful for
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: the great neighbors and volunteers on the response team. Going
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: to dig deep for the next few months. Love the boys,
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: Love the pod, don't forget the trash. I attached an
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: X ray pick. As you can see, the big Piggy
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: went to the market and he's never coming back Levet.
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: Oh no, oh wow. Update, I'll attach another photo of
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: the X ray. They had to take more off of
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: it in the second surgery. We'll be nightfour in the hospital.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: The painted times has been the worst I've ever felt
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: in my life. Still can't fathom. I don't have a
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: big tone anymore, and we'll essentially have to learn how
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: to do everyday things again. Don't take the small things
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: for granted. Fellas. Kids have been with my parents and
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: have come to see us a couple of times. Now
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: missed them like crazy once again, Love the pod. Oh ps,
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: what's that say? Willy C's right? Don't mow your yard?
- 1:36:51Speaker 9: Oh what do you know?
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: Funny funny to come at willye cee for not mowing
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: the yard. There is risk when mowing the yard. You
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: can lose your fucking big toe. Boys, big biggie could
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: go to the market. You lose the big biggie. That sucks.
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: Man that sucks. Yeah, holy shit, A.
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: New guy, shit new guy in college sending he was
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: working at a golf course. One of those like flyover mowers.
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: It's not like a push one yeah on a hill,
- 1:37:22Speaker 4: big toe not fun?
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: What yeah? What was a dangerous man? Dude? That's what
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: I have to talking about. Mowing the yard.
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: Shit, everybody all excited. Take it before and after pictures.
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: Leave it up to the experts. Man, wait till you're
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: do local landscapers, Wait till you do it before and
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: after pictures of your big.
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: Dough not be thinking. Damn, I wish I would have
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: paid the local economy.
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: That one guy that I called an idiot on the
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: internet last year, Maybe he wasn't so dumb, maybe he was.
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: Actually really or something.
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: But oh man, this came from anonymous. This is one
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: of our first anonymous in a while. Hi Boys, Day
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: one listener, first time ride in love the pod and
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: the dad community that you have created for all of
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: us to share. Sorry to advance, Sorry in advance for
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: the long email. Would like to keep this anonymous as
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: this is an ongoing dad loss. We can title this
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: conversation how long is too long? And I'm hoping it
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: can be a good conversation starter for the pod on
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: situations that involve are in laws, both current and future.
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: H I'm a proud dad of two kiddos, a.
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: Two a half year old and a seven week old girl,
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: and we recently welcomed in early June. Congratulations. This is
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: unfortunately where my dad loss comes in. My wife and
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: her mom are in all caps, very close. She usually
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: comes to visit from out of state about once a
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: week every month to see us and watch our son
- 1:39:00Speaker 2: grow up. When our first was born, she ended up
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: staying with us for almost two months. As newborn parents
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: who were nervous about the transition to parenthood. This was
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: a blessing and we were truly grateful for the help.
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: She kept up the laundry, helped with the bottles, helped
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: keep the house clean, and helped be there for my
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: wife when I couldn't. I ended up delaying my paternity
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: leave to extend our son's time at home before going
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: to daycare, but admittedly it did feel like she overstayed
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: her welcome towards the end of her time here. Since then,
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: my personal relationship with my mother in law has been strained,
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: to say the least. As a dad, I take immense
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: pride in being the best husband, father, and family man
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: I can be. However, when my mother in law visits,
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: it feels like I've become more of a third wheel
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: in my own home, which can get frustrating and has
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: resulted in some tension that brings me to my ongoing
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: dad loss. Our baby girl arrived in early June. Despite
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: conversations with my wife on setting boundaries for how long
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: her mom would stay with us, she ended up staying
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: at our home for a little over two months, followed
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: by a ten day trip without me back home to
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: introduce our daughter to the extended family. The dad boss
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: comes in because is obvious that my frustration with my
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: mother in law has been a stressor for my wife
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: and our relationship. This realization sucks to live with, but
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: I'm finding it incredibly difficult to deal with an in
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: law who I've communicated by my boundaries with not parenting
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: my child, allowing me to perform my regular duties around
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: the house, giving me the space to interact with my
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: children on my own with my wife, etc. But it
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: has repeatedly been crossed. Anyways, she openly acknowledged that she
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: understands the boundaries I've tried to set, but believes what
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: she is doing is right and thinks that because I
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: was not raising a home that had the support of grandparents,
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: that I essentially don't know any better. I just finished
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: up listening to the most recent Fat Stafford solo Great job,
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: by the way, thank you Anonymous, and his message on
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: being a good teammate really resonated. That's my number one goal,
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: But with any relationship, it's hard to achieve that goal
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: of communication is strained and what we want may not
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: line up. So with that in mind, I'm curious to
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: know everyone's opinion on this. Basically, what is your boundary
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: for in law visits and how do you slash would
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: you and your partner approaches this situation, especially if your
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: boundaries are different. Not looking for advice, that's what the
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: therapist is for, but genuinely curious to know how this
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: situation looks from an outside perspective. As we navigate in
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: real time, all the boys are at different stages of
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: their relationships, so I would think there may be different
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: views that would be good to discuss.
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: Oh, buddy, that's a tough one.
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: I mean, like take some balls to write that. By
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: the way, even anonymously.
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: Absolutely absolutely well done there, I'm getting My marriage is
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: my wife. Doesn't seem like the relationship that his wife
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: has with her mom is similar to the one that
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: my wife has with my mother in law. Not that
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: it's different, worse, better, whatever it is. But yeah, as
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: far as like staying for months at a time or
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: for weeks at a time, that's the dude, that's a
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: tough one. My first like instinct is you know, how
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: much of a real conversation have you had with your wife?
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: Sounds like maybe he has, sounds like he's even had
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: a conversation with the mother in law. What I'm hearing
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: on his version with the mother in law is that
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: mother in law wasn't necessarily hearing what he was saying. Yeah,
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: something that we talk about in communication and one on
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: ones here at the shop, at home, whatever it is.
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: But a technique that I learned about from Chris Voss,
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: who's like a negotiator, was the FBI like feelings, behavior
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: and impact, And essentially what that is wrapped up in
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: that acronym is you're telling mother in law, hey, when
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: you do X, you're describing the behavior. It makes me
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: feel like a third wheel. And what I'm worried about
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: is whatever you feel like that impact is going to
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: have on the relationship, so let's try to make one up.
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: I feel like when you come in and you I'm
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: not going to say overstay, maybe we need to have
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: better expectation of what staying looks like at the house.
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: And I don't know if these are your exact words demand,
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: because I don't know how mother in law is in
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: that communication. But when these things happen and I come home,
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: or you take care of my duties, or I feel
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: like I'm not getting the right amount of one on
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: one time, or i feel like I'm wanting to do
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: something with my daughter and you think this other way
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: is better, and you kind of I feel like you're
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: overstepping me, and it makes me feel like shit. I
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: feel it is me off. But I also know you
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: want to be a very intentional grandmother and you're in
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: massive help. But what I'm worried about is if I
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: feel like it creates this resentment because we don't have
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: clear expectations and clear boundaries with each other. Not only
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: with each other, but it also creates a little bit
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: of friction with my wife because we go back and
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: forth at each with each other, and I'm worried that's
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: going to continue to happen if we can't figure out
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: what these clear expectations are. If she's hitting you with
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: you know, you didn't grow up with grandparents, you don't
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: really know what you're talking about, or you don't really
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: know any different to me, that tells me you're not
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: really being listened to.
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: You know what I mean, He's not being listened to
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: in that situation, Like if you are, it'll be a
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: very productive conversation because if somebody were to tell me
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: like something like that, like, hey, will your behavior makes
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: me feel this way.
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: Therefore, here's the impact I'm worried about if we don't
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: get it corrected. If I'm fully digesting what you're saying,
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: say we're in a one on one, I need to
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: fully listen to you and understand you and be in
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: your shoes for us to start finding any kind of
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: solve versus you don't know any better because I'm kind
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: of just shutting you down.
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: It sounds like he feels like he's being shut down.
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: And again we only know his version.
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: His version like you, you also can't be somebody like
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: you have this you're looking for confirmation bias anytime you
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: step in the room and say, Grandma's playing with the kids,
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: and that just fuels the there's goes Grandma getting playing
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: with the kids, they know I don't want her to
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: do that, or whatever it is, whatever you're making up
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: in your mind to build this resentment, that's obviously that's
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: not going to be helpful for you or the relationship
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: you have with your with your wife or grandma. Yeah,
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: but all of mine completely stems from the root of
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: If that was happening with me and I was feeling
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: a resentment or a buildup of grandma overstepping or my
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: wife's parents kind of overstepping, it would very much start
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: with a real conversation with my wife in a calm
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: tone to be heard articulated the best way you can
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: to where you're not looking for an argument, you're looking
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: to strictly say when this behavior happens, it makes me
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: feel like this. And here's what I'm worried about. Because
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: what the other position can't do then, right is tell
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: you how you feel. If you go in and say
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: you do this, not when this behavior happens, you do this,
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: always do it? Yeah, when you you always do X,
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: Y and Z, And it pisses me off because blah
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: blah blah blah. You're putting them on the opposition. Their
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: guard goes up because you're telling them, Yeah, you're telling
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: them what they do and how they feel from it. Yep,
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: because I know when your mom does this, she's thinking
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: this because I've already had this conversation. Well, that doesn't
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: work because you're talking about somebody else. You can't tell
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: somebody else telling them how they If you can speak
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: strictly from how you're feeling, the other person can't tell
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: you how you're feeling. You're just laying out, dude, this
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: is what I'm worried about. Obviously, I care. Like we're
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: a family, we're a tribe. You're my wife, like this
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: is this is my family as we like as much
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: as it is. You are, Like all that stuff where
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: you're speaking strictly from your shoes and what you're worried
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: about happen if something doesn't get corrected.
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: You also have the opportunity to ask your and this
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: we're talking. The person that wrote in made it sound
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: like they're the husband and speaking to the wife.
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: About the mother in law. This can totally go the
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: other way too.
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: Of a Milk Team sixer at home that needs to
- 1:47:22Speaker 2: have this conversation with their husband about mother or father
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: in law, whatever. Yeah, this is across the board advice
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: that I would give of.
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: More oft than not.
- 1:47:36Speaker 2: I think that his spouse or somebody's spouse in this
- 1:47:39Speaker 2: situation would actually feel exactly how they feel.
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: Most of the time in this situation.
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: And I think that while you're also saying how you feel,
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: ask them how it makes them feel when said action
- 1:47:56Speaker 2: is being done, When said behavior is being done, does
- 1:47:59Speaker 2: that make you feel uncomfortable? Does that make you feel stressed?
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: Does that make you feel upset? And really pick their
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: brain on it. Not only to get to see what
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: your partner's feeling, it brings them into this situation of
- 1:48:14Speaker 2: y'all are a team. At the end of the day,
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: y'all are a team. You are not married to your
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: in law, your parents, are not married to your wife
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: or your husband. Like those are separate relationships. The core
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: of this is you and your partner.
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: The number one relationship us you and your wife, and
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: you have to get aligned. You have to get aligned and.
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: Be open to not only sharing your feelings, but see
- 1:48:39Speaker 2: what their feelings are. See if even though y'all don't
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: see eyed eye. If your feelings are aligned on stuff,
- 1:48:46Speaker 2: go ooh, that makes both of us uncomfortable. Let's dive
- 1:48:50Speaker 2: into that. Why would that make us uncomfortable? What are
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: some solves we can do there? Now we're working together
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: to solve the problem. And then there's the age old
- 1:48:59Speaker 2: saying of blood, deal with blood, which I think, no.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: Go ahead, that's exactly what I was good.
- 1:49:06Speaker 2: I think that that is a very smart saying. I
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: think you can totally speak up for yourself in situations
- 1:49:12Speaker 2: of like hey, you know, like making yourself heard to
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: the in law or to like anybody in your spouse's family.
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: But always smart to first go to wife, like Will said,
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: and be like, hey, this I'm feeling.
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: This is what's going on that, and if.
- 1:49:32Speaker 2: They agree strongly, it's like can you can you please
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: have that conversation with them about this?
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:49:40Speaker 2: And I know that that then, you know, can muddy
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: the water sometimes within laws because it's like, oh well,
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: it sounds like you're sherman talked to his wife again
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: about like maybe you could like maybe you can start
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: with mom and daughter and then they could be all
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: through them, send down even that even that and just
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: be like we're aligned on this. We're team on this
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: decision on how we.
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: Feel right because again we don't know any anything about
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: the situation other than from the right end. So there
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: could be a lot of steps to this. There could
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: be a couple steps. Maybe it's not as big of
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: a deal as he's making a sound. Maybe it's a
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: deal where it's going to take a little bit of
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: time to make happen. But to your point, you're right too,
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: Like after you do the sitting down and completely talking
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: from your shoes and how something like makes you feel
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: and what you're worried about happening, you will then be
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: able to figure out if your wife is aligned or
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: sees that happening or with you to where you guys
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: are already kind of starting on a similar page, and
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: then you guys are wanting to kind of figure out
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: the solve. Maybe your wife has a different perspective to
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: where she throws out a different perspective and it's like, okay, well,
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: how can we figure this out? Like can your rise
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: what's your biggest pain point with the situation, whether it's
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: something I'm doing, whether it's something's mom's doing, or it's
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: something I can alleviate for you because I'm sure it's
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: stressful having mom helicopter over you or telling you things
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: that you need to be doing as a mother, like
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: mom could be carrying a lot of stress too, one
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: hundred percent.
- 1:51:04Speaker 4: Also, I get a point in terms of like, if
- 1:51:09Speaker 4: you come to an agreement with your significant other, shouldn't
- 1:51:12Speaker 4: if you do it right, it should never be like, well,
- 1:51:14Speaker 4: it sounds like you're speaking for them, because I feel
- 1:51:16Speaker 4: like with me, it would be like, once we come
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: to an agreement and I'm going to go have the
- 1:51:19Speaker 4: conversation with my parents, if it's if let's say I'm
- 1:51:22Speaker 4: the my parents in this situation, once we're aligned, we're aligned,
- 1:51:26Speaker 4: and it's no more like, oh, I'm speaking for you.
- 1:51:28Speaker 4: It's like no, no, no, I see the we both see
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: it this way. Once you come to that understanding, I
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: feel like that would be a big point of it.
- 1:51:35Speaker 4: I'm also I'm kind of I'm writing notes just for
- 1:51:39Speaker 4: I don't have this issue, but it's like I don't
- 1:51:41Speaker 4: have to deal with it in this way. But I'm like,
- 1:51:43Speaker 4: I feel like that's something where I if if it
- 1:51:47Speaker 4: was towards my parents, I was on the wife side
- 1:51:49Speaker 4: of the ball, I would be like, once we figure
- 1:51:51Speaker 4: it out. I'm going there and I want to be
- 1:51:53Speaker 4: the one that handles it and not put her in
- 1:51:56Speaker 4: that spot because that's a very I feel like in laws,
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: that's tough spot to have this kind of conversation.
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: It's a tough spot, but it's a uh that is
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: without going into any detail, just knowing out of a situation.
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: That is something that in laws can say pretty often
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: of like this doesn't sound like you or the type
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: of decision that you would make, Like did Charo.
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: Tell you to say that? Will like this?
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: You know, like I'm just surprised that, like is this
- 1:52:26Speaker 2: how Charo feels? Or is this how you feel? And
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: almost like kind of putting you in a spot where
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: like you then have to stand on ten toes and
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: be like this is how we feel Toorro and I
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: will Compton feel this way.
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: Right when you look at me and you talk to me,
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: you're also talking to my wife and talking to my wife,
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: I going behind your back and see something crazy.
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and she's sure certainly isn't going you're my mouthpiece,
- 1:52:54Speaker 2: go do it even reluctantly, you know.
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: So that's that's where that can come from. Gotcha.
- 1:53:02Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean the way that he wrote in
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: he sounds like an extremely reasonable, uh, looking for different
- 1:53:13Speaker 2: avenues to try and solve this type of person. I
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: hope he gets it, figure it out. I would say
- 1:53:21Speaker 2: start with wifey.
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Number one is definitely wifey and talking through the
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: situation with her, yeah, and trying to get aligned. I
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: appreciate him right in, Dude that it takes balls, because
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: sometimes it's hard, Like you, you care so much about something,
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: and sometimes it's hard to go about it the right
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: way because it's just like emotion emotional driven and sometimes
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: like I know what helps myself when I'm trying to
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: find answers for handling a conversation one way, it's like
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: coming across stuff like when I learned about the FBI
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: stuff like, oh man, this would help me so much
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: in a lot of day to day conversations versus something
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: weighing so heavy on my mind and you don't necessarily
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: know how to articulate it, just that it's like festering up.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: But then you just butt heads. Your lid gets flipped there,
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: lid gets flipped, and you're not really handling anything.
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: Yeah, And that's why it all comes down to you,
- 1:54:14Speaker 2: is it's not like at the end of the two
- 1:54:17Speaker 2: months that it's like, Okay, she overstayed or welcome, and
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: that all of a sudden comes out of nowhere. For
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: the guy that rode in, he's probably feeling that like
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: week three, Yeah, wait, we're doing three more weeks of this,
- 1:54:30Speaker 2: four more weeks of this?
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: Yeah dang. Yeah, you're just being involved with the decision
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: making of how long a family member might stay or not.
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: Even everybody comes in town. Roll yes, it's like, oh, hey,
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: they're planning on stay and they want to stay like
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: two weeks. Like if it feels just between say it
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: was me and you, I'm like, buddy, you could stay
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: at my house for two weeks and I'm not even
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: checking in with the wife. It's just you're gonna come
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: and stay at the house for two weeks. Will then
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: Trol and I are having our own little side battle
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: because I'm like, it's my boy, I say all the time.
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: And the point what that they're trying to make is
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: like not that they're only pissed that they're staying two weeks,
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: but dude, you didn't console me. Yeah, include me in
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: your conversation, include me in the solft, Like what's going
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: on to where he needs a stay to. And it's
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: not that I'm not wanting him this stake in two weeks.
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: I just want to be a part of the conversation
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: because you feel like you're just keeping me out to
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: the side and you're gonna make all the decisions for
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: the house. That is chef.
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: If you are taking notes, that is numero.
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: Who solve that? Jill and I really.
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: Had to identify made that wait, not even within laws, just.
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: Yeah in general, yeah, anything, made that mistake. You bring
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: up the idea maybe I can come stay a couple
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: of weeks, like, well, let me talk with my wife
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: and I can get back to you. Oh yeah, I
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: can go to that.
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, put me down absolutely, two hundred dollars deposit
- 1:55:42Speaker 2: perfect pay two hundred dollars. Hey, honey, I'm going to
- 1:55:45Speaker 2: this thing. What what are you talking about?
- 1:55:48Speaker 4: You just all those Yeah, I made that mistake. Did
- 1:55:51Speaker 4: a dinner as without saying anything. I was just like, Hey,
- 1:55:55Speaker 4: we're going to this this with friends. She was just like,
- 1:55:58Speaker 4: how do you not tell me this?
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:56:00Speaker 4: And I was like, itting clear. I feel like a
- 1:56:02Speaker 4: lot of times it's not intentional. You're just like, hey, no,
- 1:56:05Speaker 4: we're doing dinner. I got to find a place and
- 1:56:06Speaker 4: then you just forget.
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it's part of the learning curve with like marriage
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: and marriage and stuff. I'm still doing. It's just going
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: from us. You were were completely selfish being to you are.
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: Now you share one heart. Yeah, you're not both one
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: person and you got to kind of operate that way.
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: That's what the ring symbolizes. Man, even you get married,
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: it's like conjoining into one heart. Deek's about to do it.
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: I mean deep, you guys, you know it.
- 1:56:40Speaker 3: I disagree with something said and agree with other things
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: that have been said about the topic.
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: You guys are discussing the anonymous email.
- 1:56:49Speaker 3: Oh yeah, laws reading think that one is tough because
- 1:56:52Speaker 3: it's like I see his point a trillion percent, but
- 1:56:54Speaker 3: I also know those are significant people in their lives,
- 1:56:58Speaker 3: and so that's what you guys are doing. Well delicate combo.
- 1:57:01Speaker 3: Yeah I'm getting married. Forget what the original point was,
- 1:57:03Speaker 3: but congrats to you.
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you. Sherman and I we were hedging. We're like, yeah,
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: well we know that the hedge was just like we
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: only know what he's writing in.
- 1:57:13Speaker 3: Oh for sure, for sure, I think he's looking for
- 1:57:16Speaker 3: help from us and I thought the email itself, I
- 1:57:19Speaker 3: thought was really worded in a way of like here's
- 1:57:21Speaker 3: the situation. It's not really much biased to it. Like
- 1:57:24Speaker 3: I can I can feel the tensity. H Yeah, there's
- 1:57:26Speaker 3: a lot of angles you can go. The biggest one
- 1:57:28Speaker 3: is communication.
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, starting to step one, just starting with wifey, Yeah,
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: get one email the show, step two.
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: And if there's anything about this podcast that I've learned
- 1:57:38Speaker 2: is that, like everybody has opinions on really difficult stuff
- 1:57:45Speaker 2: to talk about. And so like with in laws, there
- 1:57:48Speaker 2: is probably somebody listening to the show right now going
- 1:57:52Speaker 2: this this guy's freaking out over nothing, like my mom
- 1:57:56Speaker 2: lives at our house or you know, blah blah blah, Like.
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: Somebody might not have any laws. It's like, man, what
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: a blessing it is? Heaving in what a but yeah.
- 1:58:03Speaker 3: Are stayed with us for two months there, Cat's parents
- 1:58:07Speaker 3: stayed with us, and it was awesome. But we knew
- 1:58:09Speaker 3: the time, and we had a conversation up front before
- 1:58:12Speaker 3: about if it extends, here's what needs to happen. If
- 1:58:15Speaker 3: it's shortened, here's what needs to happen. So communication, good colms,
- 1:58:19Speaker 3: good coms. It's all calmed and you're right too. It's
- 1:58:21Speaker 3: like somebody lays up something where they're seeking advice. We're
- 1:58:24Speaker 3: not like an advice giving show on a on a
- 1:58:28Speaker 3: lot of a lot of things. We just kind of
- 1:58:29Speaker 3: talk about what goes on in our lives and in
- 1:58:31Speaker 3: our worlds. Yeah, that's one where it's like there could
- 1:58:33Speaker 3: be so many different opinions.
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:58:37Speaker 2: And then also that selfish part of him that probably
- 1:58:39Speaker 2: wants to hear that that's that's fucking crazy.
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: You're right, yeah, that is like you want to get
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: in the garage back, yo, that's fucking the nuts, man,
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: Like for another month?
- 1:58:48Speaker 2: Are you fucking giddy? She does let you take your
- 1:58:51Speaker 2: shut off in the living room. Yeah, and she overstays
- 1:58:55Speaker 2: that that's bullshit. You're right for being pissed off. That's
- 1:58:58Speaker 2: your house, man, that's your house. You're the man at
- 1:59:03Speaker 2: that house. She's trying to push you around.
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: You're gonna let her do that in your house.
- 1:59:08Speaker 2: Man, Just drink a lot of stuff that make you burpy,
- 1:59:12Speaker 2: lot of stuff that make you fat, and just kind
- 1:59:14Speaker 2: of hang around it.
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: My wife would never.
- 1:59:17Speaker 2: Do something like that, Like I know how I'd handle it,
- 1:59:21Speaker 2: but my wife wouldn't even go there because she knows
- 1:59:25Speaker 2: I got a trade. I gotta I nipped that real quick. Yeah,
- 1:59:32Speaker 2: I've heard about that whole thing. I nipped that real quick.
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: There you go. We gave you that. Ye give you
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: that too. There you go. Good said great, So did
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: you the brave? Yeah?
- 1:59:45Speaker 2: Updated the brave to be the brave? Will had an
- 1:59:51Speaker 2: al Teimer. By the way, I heard a lot of
- 1:59:53Speaker 2: laughter that was like.
- 1:59:54Speaker 1: What was the ald timer to hit the bongstead of
- 1:59:57Speaker 1: hit the gong and hit the dog. Oh he it's
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: a hit the bond. He's sick. Hey, you want to
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: hit the lesson? You want to hit the lesson?
- 2:00:05Speaker 2: We can roll, yes, sir, I already kind of said,
- 2:00:08Speaker 2: mind of the why do we fall?
- 2:00:10Speaker 1: To learn how to get back up? But oh just
- 2:00:13Speaker 1: a simple quote.
- 2:00:14Speaker 2: That was my simple quote by what's the butler's name
- 2:00:19Speaker 2: in Batman? Oh my gosh, yeah, Alfred Alfred.
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: I got one here from the Daily Dad. I got
- 2:00:25Speaker 1: to have a awesome subscription that you can subscribe to
- 2:00:29Speaker 1: via email. This one came across a few days ago,
- 2:00:33Speaker 1: but it's around like time being fleeting. Obviously, you know
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: that sometime were on their late teens early twenties, they'll
- 2:00:39Speaker 1: move out obviously, you know that in their mid teens,
- 2:00:42Speaker 1: they're probably they'll probably start driving. These are big milestones,
- 2:00:46Speaker 1: moments when you suddenly, heartbreakingly you'll get to see so
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: much less of them because they'll be independent, because they'll
- 2:00:52Speaker 1: be in control. But maybe probably this will all happen
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: even sooner than you think, Well before they're sixteen, and
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: they'll be riding their bike to their friend's houses. Well
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: before sixteen, they'll be basically living at their friend's houses.
- 2:01:06Speaker 1: We all wrongly think of these milestones as point of
- 2:01:08Speaker 1: our kids, as points of our kids will reach some day,
- 2:01:12Speaker 1: as opposed to transitions that are already ongoing. We all
- 2:01:16Speaker 1: think we have more time than we do. We are
- 2:01:18Speaker 1: losing our children right now. They are moving out and
- 2:01:22Speaker 1: on as you read this, they are pulling away, becoming
- 2:01:24Speaker 1: independent from the very moment they start to crawl. Don't
- 2:01:28Speaker 1: fool yourself. You're not losing You're not losing them someday
- 2:01:32Speaker 1: in the future. You are, in fact losing them now
- 2:01:34Speaker 1: every day. It's ongoing. So be present, be here with
- 2:01:37Speaker 1: them in the moment, every moment. They're growing up before
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: your eyes. Make sure you see it. Boom and he
- 2:01:47Speaker 1: talks about this medallion, tempest fugit, fujit a tempes fugit. Yeah,
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: appreciating the fleeting time aayway, Just another one, just to
- 2:01:59Speaker 1: remind ever out there, we all got kids growing up,
- 2:02:01Speaker 1: we all got things going on, we all got stresses
- 2:02:03Speaker 1: in our lives. Yeah, enjoy all the little moments, man,
- 2:02:07Speaker 1: enjoy them. Uh maybe for Everlea.
- 2:02:10Speaker 2: Some pink cards, just to shout out everly in the comments.
- 2:02:13Speaker 1: Pink cards, man, some pink cards.
- 2:02:16Speaker 9: Bong maybe if there's a bong emoj the bog in there.
- 2:02:22Speaker 1: I love you guys. They got your trash
