- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a Bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls gott Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:25Speaker 2: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm
- 0:27Speaker 2: a former Hallmark hater. We're back with one of your
- 0:31Speaker 2: favorite episodes. It is the Listener Mailbag episode. Thank you
- 0:35Speaker 2: to everyone who has emailed us shared your comments with us.
- 0:40Speaker 2: We've got a long list, so we're going to dive
- 0:42Speaker 2: right in with an email from Patty regarding a Bill's
- 0:46Speaker 2: love story. She says, I just listened to your review
- 0:49Speaker 2: about the Buffalo Bills movie. I live in Buffalo and
- 0:51Speaker 2: have some information for you answering some of the questions
- 0:54Speaker 2: that we had. The stadium scenes were filmed May twenty
- 0:58Speaker 2: second and twenty third. The weather was cooler than usual
- 1:01Speaker 2: with a high of fifty three degrees and it was
- 1:03Speaker 2: windy with a light rain. Perfect weather for depicting a
- 1:07Speaker 2: December game. Yeah, we did talk about we thought there
- 1:10Speaker 2: was rain happening, right, Yeah, when they're playing on the field. Yeah,
- 1:15Speaker 2: Hollin's hair gets real wet and wavy, and I was like,
- 1:17Speaker 2: it's June. It was me but still. We also talked
- 1:20Speaker 2: about the ice bikes. She says. An ice bike has
- 1:22Speaker 2: one back tire and blades on the front, and you
- 1:25Speaker 2: steer like a regular bike. She includes a link to
- 1:28Speaker 2: water Bikes of Buffalo, where you can see the ice
- 1:33Speaker 2: bikes in action and see where you can rent them
- 1:37Speaker 2: at the canal side. I wish we had those here.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I do too.
- 1:42Speaker 3: There's a big ice rink by your house. Have you
- 1:44Speaker 3: ever popped in there to see if they have ice bikes.
- 1:47Speaker 2: My daughter used tock ice skating lessons there figure skating lessons,
- 1:51Speaker 2: so I've been there a number of times. My son
- 1:53Speaker 2: was actually just there last week. He was out with
- 1:56Speaker 2: friends and he texted me. He's like, we're going ice skating.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I was like, you're what? And later on I was like,
- 2:01Speaker 2: how was it? He goes it was terrible. I hated it.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Maybe if they had an ice bike, Yeah, I liked
- 2:08Speaker 2: it more. Yeah. Patty says. The team the Bills were
- 2:11Speaker 2: playing was the New England Patriots. We get a little
- 2:13Speaker 2: more information about that in our next email, and Patty
- 2:17Speaker 2: says they didn't mention sponge candy, which is a specialty
- 2:20Speaker 2: in Buffalo. She sends us a website for Park Edge
- 2:24Speaker 2: Sweet Shop, and oh my goodness, here well, it looks
- 2:29Speaker 2: kind of like like a honeycomb a little bit. But
- 2:33Speaker 2: I encourage you able to check out Park Edge Sweetshop
- 2:36Speaker 2: because they've got some fun looking stuff on here. Patty,
- 2:40Speaker 2: thank you for your email. Yeah, I want to try that.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Yuh me? Do they ship? Oh yeah, it's chocolate. They
- 2:49Speaker 2: ship from to California. How do you think chocolate gets
- 2:52Speaker 2: into the stores?
- 2:54Speaker 1: No?
- 2:54Speaker 2: Mom, you can order seize candy online?
- 2:57Speaker 3: Okay, well you might have to do that. You know
- 3:00Speaker 3: what I've been having a hankering for.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Are butter cookies? Do you know what I'm talking about?
- 3:05Speaker 2: I don't know what a butter cookie is? You do okay? Okay?
- 3:09Speaker 2: To order a half pound of dark chocolate peanut butter sponge.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Do it get crazy?
- 3:14Speaker 3: Our next emails from Paula also regarding the Bills movie.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Being a Patriots fan, I didn't want to comment about
- 3:20Speaker 3: the Bills, but I need to respond to your comment
- 3:23Speaker 3: about the game being shown at the end not being
- 3:25Speaker 3: a real game. I just want to say I apologize it.
- 3:28Speaker 3: I was probably watching it on my phone and could.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Not see if. I don't think Paula is coming for you.
- 3:33Speaker 2: I know Paula's moves with good intentions.
- 3:36Speaker 3: It was last December's Patriots game, the twelve to three
- 3:41Speaker 3: Bills eked out a narrow come from behind victory over
- 3:45Speaker 3: the three and twelve Patriots.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Paula throw in shade.
- 3:49Speaker 3: The announcer mentioned Drake May, the Patriots quarterback. As of now,
- 3:54Speaker 3: the Patriots are ten and two and the Bills are
- 3:56Speaker 3: seven and.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Four, Not that it matters. I also find it add
- 3:59Speaker 2: that all the Bills fans' favorite win was a wild
- 4:04Speaker 2: card blowout over the mediocre Patriots team. I'll just leave
- 4:08Speaker 2: it there. The Bills are going to be the Bills. Look,
- 4:11Speaker 2: I again feel like I'm part of Bill's mafia. So
- 4:16Speaker 2: maybe are you taking offense to Paula's email. Maybe Paula
- 4:20Speaker 2: needs to dial it back for Christmas. Paula, I love you,
- 4:24Speaker 2: thank you for your email. As always, I'm going to
- 4:26Speaker 2: buy you a Bills jersey a beanie because you love
- 4:30Speaker 2: hat so much. God stop it.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Well.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I told my husband, I was like, you should watch
- 4:34Speaker 2: this movie. Is a really great movie.
- 4:36Speaker 3: And now my husband and his brother do like a
- 4:38Speaker 3: one trip a year to a stadium they never been,
- 4:42Speaker 3: and he's like, oh, I think I need to put the.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Bills on my list. And I said, I think I
- 4:46Speaker 2: need to go with you because our brand new stadium.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I don't really care about that. I want to go
- 4:51Speaker 2: downtown to Burner's. What's the place called No Spindlers. I
- 4:58Speaker 2: want a peanut stick? And this funny is can can
- 5:04Speaker 2: we both go? And maybe we go on the trip? Yeah?
- 5:10Speaker 2: You know when we were in Kansas City, my husband
- 5:11Speaker 2: said eighteen times, go see the Chiefs, Go see the Chiefs.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I was like, Mandy, you not know me at all.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't really care about the football game. Now
- 5:19Speaker 3: would I go to that bar where Andrew Walker works to.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Watch the bar bill tavern?
- 5:25Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 5:25Speaker 2: I would, Yes, I would. Maggie, she's one of our
- 5:36Speaker 2: Facebook group moderators. She sent a couple of emails. The
- 5:39Speaker 2: first is in regards to The More the Merrier. She says,
- 5:42Speaker 2: I thought i'd share the following excerpt from a People
- 5:44Speaker 2: article that details how Rachel and Brendan ended up getting
- 5:47Speaker 2: cast in The More the Merrier. I love this story.
- 5:52Speaker 2: To quote the article, we met one year ago on
- 5:54Speaker 2: this cruise and we made each other laugh a lot.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Oh interesting they hadn't met before then. No Oh, Boston
- 6:01Speaker 2: tells people from a lounge on the twenty twenty five
- 6:04Speaker 2: Hallmark Christmas Cruise. We did not know each other before
- 6:08Speaker 2: then at all, and we had a really good time
- 6:10Speaker 2: on the cruise. Penny agrees it was the dress up
- 6:13Speaker 2: night that we kind of were like, Hey, let's go
- 6:15Speaker 2: talk to Tan Tiana erasme, who's the head of casting.
- 6:18Speaker 2: And so we threw the idea that we haven't worked
- 6:21Speaker 2: together yet, we'd really love to and that if it
- 6:23Speaker 2: was a possibility to strongly consider it and it landed.
- 6:26Speaker 2: How much do you love the idea that for some reason,
- 6:29Speaker 2: the idea of them being like, hey, we'd like to
- 6:32Speaker 2: work together, can you make that happen?
- 6:34Speaker 3: I kind of love that. I love it too. I
- 6:37Speaker 3: wonder how often that happens?
- 6:39Speaker 2: One and two?
- 6:39Speaker 3: Why doesn't it happen more? And you would feel like
- 6:44Speaker 3: you have access to the casting director, you're on a boat,
- 6:47Speaker 3: You're beal like, hey, can we get in front of you.
- 6:49Speaker 3: We'd really like to work together.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Look, if you haven't listened to our view of the
- 6:53Speaker 2: more of the merry or yet. I thought they had
- 6:56Speaker 2: instant on screen chemistry. So that was a great move.
- 7:00Speaker 3: And so from Mackie she writes in about melting my
- 7:03Speaker 3: heart at Christmas, which btw, I think is a surprise hit.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Megan doesn't want to accept it.
- 7:09Speaker 3: But I saw somebody say, like, that's their number one
- 7:11Speaker 3: movie of the year. It's not my number one movie
- 7:13Speaker 3: of the year, but it's somebody's number one movie.
- 7:17Speaker 2: People really liked it. Uh, you're right.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I'm not people.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I know you're not.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I hate it. I didn't hate It's not my favorite
- 7:25Speaker 3: of the year, but I went in. I think it's
- 7:28Speaker 3: because I went in with super low expectations.
- 7:30Speaker 2: That is truly why.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Okay, let me get back to Mackie's email, she writes
- 7:34Speaker 3: in response to your question in your review about them
- 7:37Speaker 3: where the movie was filmed. Jennifer Wigmore shared in an
- 7:41Speaker 3: interview on the Heart and Motion podcast that it was
- 7:44Speaker 3: filmed in Ottawa in February twenty twenty five, so it
- 7:47Speaker 3: really was.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Freezing on set. Yeah, and that came through. That came through. Yes,
- 7:55Speaker 2: we have a new listener to the podcast. Her name Shannon.
- 7:58Speaker 2: She's from Sydney, Australia, and she says, greet thinks from Sydney.
- 8:01Speaker 2: My name is Shan and I'm a longtime lover of
- 8:03Speaker 2: Hallmark movies, but most have been living under a Rock
- 8:06Speaker 2: because I didn't know there were podcast about Hallmark And
- 8:08Speaker 2: to that, I say, if you are listening to this podcast,
- 8:12Speaker 2: your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to
- 8:15Speaker 2: share us with a friend, make sure people know that
- 8:18Speaker 2: we exist. So far this count out to Christmas. My
- 8:22Speaker 2: favorites have been Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper. I laughed so
- 8:25Speaker 2: hard and loved that they were all betting on poor
- 8:27Speaker 2: Ted's misfortunes. It was a classic and one I'm sure
- 8:30Speaker 2: I'll be watching again. I also really loved Christmas Above
- 8:33Speaker 2: the Clouds. The Christmas Carol theme was a hit. It
- 8:36Speaker 2: made me laugh, it made me cry. Now that's a
- 8:37Speaker 2: good combination. My all time favorite Christmas movie is A
- 8:41Speaker 2: Biltmore Christmas. I've lost count how many times I've seen it.
- 8:45Speaker 2: It's magical and Christopher Polaha is just swoon worthy.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Can I tell you I read this email myself originally,
- 8:54Speaker 3: like when it came through and I was like, oh,
- 8:55Speaker 3: listener from Australia, leave a review. Shan, You know how
- 8:59Speaker 3: excited I am that somebody down under across the world
- 9:03Speaker 3: listens to us. We're sitting at our freaking kitchen table
- 9:06Speaker 3: talking about Hallmark movies and somebody's like, I just.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Bout you and I love you down under. I have
- 9:13Speaker 2: a quick story to tell.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Yeah, my husband was recently in Singapore for work and
- 9:19Speaker 3: they had to do like a icebreaker, and he's like, so,
- 9:23Speaker 3: if you have any new listeners from Singapore, And I
- 9:25Speaker 3: was like, wait a minute, an icebreaker is about yourself,
- 9:28Speaker 3: not about your wife who has a Hallmark podcast. And
- 9:31Speaker 3: he goes, but what happened is he told these people
- 9:35Speaker 3: in this room that we have a Hallmark podcast. And
- 9:39Speaker 3: he's like, so if you've see an uptick from.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Singapore, Singaporean downloads, Yeah, but I look to Hallmark doesn't air,
- 9:46Speaker 2: It doesn't Hamewark channel does not exist in Singapore. It
- 9:51Speaker 2: may show on another network. I don't know. The last
- 9:54Speaker 2: thirty days from Singapore, point zero eight percent of our
- 9:58Speaker 2: downloads came from Well that's.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Better than zero, that's right, So thank you very much.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Listener Jail writes in regarding a Newport Christmas For the
- 10:08Speaker 3: Newport Christmas movie, I thought the relationship between the museum
- 10:11Speaker 3: executive and the employee was unrealistic. I know we're supposed
- 10:16Speaker 3: to suspend disbelief, but that being said, that would be
- 10:19Speaker 3: a huge hr issue if a boss stated an employee,
- 10:24Speaker 3: she goes on to ask what was the executive doing
- 10:27Speaker 3: making flower arrangements? Shouldn't she be fundraising or working with
- 10:31Speaker 3: the border directors? Where were the volunteers on this committee
- 10:34Speaker 3: or hired help such as a floral designer and events staff.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Sometimes homework doesn't get it right with some of the
- 10:41Speaker 3: basic things, and it distracts me from my viewing experience.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Can you relate to this well? I have a long
- 10:50Speaker 3: history of working in nonprofit.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Special event fundraising, and while I do think that there
- 10:56Speaker 2: should be some volunteers here, it's an all hands on
- 10:59Speaker 2: deck situation. There probably wasn't floral designer and event staff.
- 11:04Speaker 2: They're working with a small skeleton crew. I have worked
- 11:07Speaker 2: on big and small special events, and I have been,
- 11:11Speaker 2: as a twenty one year old fresh out of college,
- 11:14Speaker 2: the point person on large events, driving our rented rider
- 11:18Speaker 2: truck through the streets of downtown LA and having to
- 11:22Speaker 2: find a place to park it in my no parking
- 11:25Speaker 2: available Los Angeles neighborhood. So all that to say, sometimes
- 11:30Speaker 2: we're working with a really small crew. But I was
- 11:35Speaker 2: the volunteer coordinator at the National MS Society, and my
- 11:38Speaker 2: superpower was activating the volunteers. So yeah, they really needed
- 11:42Speaker 2: to find a volunteer network. Here, got it. Would you
- 11:44Speaker 2: like to talk more about nonprofit special events? Email is
- 11:47Speaker 2: at Girls Class Markets femail dot com. Our next email
- 11:50Speaker 2: is from listener Chantal regarding the television show Family Law,
- 11:54Speaker 2: which has come up in our news and notes a
- 11:56Speaker 2: number of times. Yeah, she says, ladies, you should definitely
- 12:00Speaker 2: watch this if you can find it. It's so good
- 12:02Speaker 2: and there are so many Hallmark stars that come through
- 12:04Speaker 2: along with some very familiar faces. As a Canadian girl
- 12:08Speaker 2: who works in Family Lot, it's very interesting for me
- 12:11Speaker 2: to watch as the court process and terminology is accurate,
- 12:14Speaker 2: I mean, aside from the usual courtroom antics you see
- 12:16Speaker 2: and legal shows like Surprise, Witnesses, et cetera. Anyway, I
- 12:20Speaker 2: started it for the Hallmark stars and stayed for the story.
- 12:24Speaker 2: It's so good. Ten out of ten recommend I'm going
- 12:27Speaker 2: to check right now where, if anywhere, it is streaming
- 12:33Speaker 2: in the US Family Lots on the CW I think
- 12:38Speaker 2: is available on It is on the CW also on
- 12:41Speaker 2: Prime Video.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Cool. You want to review this in January? Guys, we
- 12:45Speaker 3: haven't even talked about January yet. Do you want to
- 12:47Speaker 3: review this in January.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Last January we were reviewing The Way Home.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Yeah, we do need a series. We need something in January.
- 12:57Speaker 2: All right, folks, girls gone Hallmark at gmail dot com,
- 13:00Speaker 2: start your campaigns for what we should review. It's December first,
- 13:04Speaker 2: we got to figure it out.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Yeah, and we don't know what Hallmarks putting out in
- 13:07Speaker 3: January in terms of movies, and we will not be
- 13:11Speaker 3: doing when calls the Heart, thank you. Yeah.
- 13:13Speaker 2: I could not think of the name of that show
- 13:15Speaker 2: to save my life. So we gotta do something. Yeah, something.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Can't just take a break, because that's not how podcasting works.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Listener Lisa writes in the subject says follow up Comma keller,
- 13:30Speaker 3: comma brackets.
- 13:32Speaker 2: That's my subject. Oh those are my notes. These are not.
- 13:36Speaker 2: This is not that's the too long, didn't read summary.
- 13:39Speaker 2: So when we're going.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Through it, Okay, that's what's happening, Lisa wrote, I met
- 13:42Speaker 3: Jordan Belfie in Waikiki about four years ago.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Yes, last time we talked.
- 13:47Speaker 3: She met him on an elevator and we were like,
- 13:50Speaker 3: is was this reason?
- 13:51Speaker 2: Yeah, Jordan Belfie of the movie Snowbride, which if you
- 13:55Speaker 2: haven't seen it, you should go and watch because it
- 13:57Speaker 2: was surprisingly good. Lisa continues, I was really surprised that
- 14:01Speaker 2: you guys didn't mention and you did you see that
- 14:04Speaker 2: on a Killer Christmas Vacation that the dad's very early
- 14:08Speaker 2: on on the ships, hands were very shaky and he
- 14:11Speaker 2: spilled hot tea while pouring from a kettle. Being a nurse,
- 14:14Speaker 2: I immediately knew it was Parkinson's, but I didn't figure
- 14:18Speaker 2: out that was the problem with William until the kids
- 14:22Speaker 2: were about to find out. I saw the Parkinson's storyline
- 14:25Speaker 2: coming a mile away. But you're right.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I did.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I did. I did, but I did not put
- 14:31Speaker 2: it in. Did you see that?
- 14:32Speaker 3: You're right?
- 14:33Speaker 2: And lastly, are you doing the brackets this year? I
- 14:35Speaker 2: heard you talk about them when I listened to some
- 14:37Speaker 2: old podcasts from last year, and it sounds really fun.
- 14:40Speaker 2: But I think I heard you saying there were some
- 14:43Speaker 2: issues last year. Let's run it down, let's unpack that.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Go ahead. Wendy is the point person on the brackets
- 14:51Speaker 2: just because it was her idea, not because I'm unwilling
- 14:53Speaker 2: to help. He is kind of a hard job to share. Yes,
- 14:58Speaker 2: behind the scenes, folks, this is episode six of the
- 15:01Speaker 2: day and even the dogs have gone a little punch drunk.
- 15:05Speaker 2: So it's a ton of work. These things that you
- 15:08Speaker 2: just see pop up on your Instagram stories and that
- 15:10Speaker 2: are just a blip. It's a lot of work. You
- 15:12Speaker 2: gotta create all the images every single day. You gotta
- 15:14Speaker 2: post this sounds silly, it's time consuming, yeah, And it's
- 15:18Speaker 2: time consuming in a busy time of year, and it's
- 15:20Speaker 2: time consuming over a short period of time after a
- 15:23Speaker 2: very long season here. That's phase one.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:25Speaker 2: The pro of that, if I may, is the community
- 15:29Speaker 2: by and large really enjoys it. Typically we get some
- 15:33Speaker 2: fun buy in from cast and Crewe. It's always kind
- 15:37Speaker 2: of fun to see who gets in on it, and
- 15:40Speaker 2: the fans start really like rooting for their own team.
- 15:43Speaker 2: It gets people engaged. It's a fun way because everyone
- 15:46Speaker 2: kind of gets a little bit of the post holiday
- 15:49Speaker 2: movie letdown. This kind of keeps that going for a
- 15:52Speaker 2: little while. Back to the cons, a few bad apples
- 15:58Speaker 2: spoil the whole bunch, and by that I mean a
- 16:01Speaker 2: couple things happen. One, everyone has an opinion about the
- 16:05Speaker 2: way it should be run. Two, some people get real
- 16:08Speaker 2: mad about the way the votes go. Just the way
- 16:10Speaker 2: the cookie crumbles, folks.
- 16:11Speaker 3: I think we were threatened to be sued last year.
- 16:14Speaker 2: No no, no, no, no no oh. That was for the
- 16:15Speaker 2: Way Home, where we threatened to be sued over a
- 16:18Speaker 2: single Instagram story asking people to vote over whether they
- 16:22Speaker 2: were Team Elliott or Team Thomas. That's right, and then
- 16:25Speaker 2: someone bought bots to game the system. Whatever. Nobody threatened
- 16:31Speaker 2: us to us over the brackets. However, people get really
- 16:34Speaker 2: upset the seeding is is random. Yeah.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Also, it's a fake competition. There's no price, there's nothing
- 16:46Speaker 4: at stake, it's just fun. So some people get really
- 16:50Speaker 4: upset and at the very end of last year's competition,
- 16:55Speaker 4: while nobody purchased bots last year, I am afraid that
- 16:59Speaker 4: might happen this year because there were a number of
- 17:02Speaker 4: fake accounts maybe fakes the wrong word, extra accounts that
- 17:06Speaker 4: were created to fin the votes in one direction, and
- 17:10Speaker 4: it came down to us like, honestly.
- 17:13Speaker 2: One vote, one vote, Yeah, and it kind of was
- 17:15Speaker 2: frustrating that it came down to one vote when there
- 17:18Speaker 2: were many fake accounts. Made kind of sucks the fun
- 17:22Speaker 2: out of it, Yeah, it does. So, I don't know.
- 17:24Speaker 2: It's December first, as we're recording this. No final decision
- 17:28Speaker 2: has been made, but that is the nuts and bolts
- 17:32Speaker 2: of the bracket.
- 17:33Speaker 3: I will tell you the origin story of the bracket,
- 17:38Speaker 3: because we did.
- 17:39Speaker 2: It's been done three years now, right.
- 17:42Speaker 3: I think we had just launched our Instagram and I
- 17:45Speaker 3: was like trying to come up with ngate, trying to
- 17:48Speaker 3: come up with ways to get more engagement in our Instagram,
- 17:52Speaker 3: and I think that's where it came from. Of course,
- 17:56Speaker 3: it's like fun, it's it's a lot of fun. I
- 17:59Speaker 3: enjoyed doing it, but at the end of last year,
- 18:02Speaker 3: I was like, I don't know if I can do
- 18:03Speaker 3: it again, simply because there was so much criticism about
- 18:10Speaker 3: how it was being done. And I was like, oh,
- 18:12Speaker 3: this is supposed to be fun. Like you said, there's
- 18:15Speaker 3: nothing to gain out of it. With that said, the
- 18:18Speaker 3: other night, I was laying in bed and I was like,
- 18:20Speaker 3: if I don't do it, I bet somebody else does,
- 18:24Speaker 3: and I don't want them to take it away from us.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I hear you. We also last year we were
- 18:29Speaker 2: contending with we had homework plus yeah, these that we
- 18:33Speaker 2: made a decision not to include. We also had a
- 18:35Speaker 2: ton of movies. We had a play in around this year,
- 18:38Speaker 2: with fewer movies. If we just did the twenty four
- 18:41Speaker 2: brand new movies, it would be a little bit of
- 18:43Speaker 2: an easier situation. Yeah.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I would need to like map it out and
- 18:48Speaker 3: look at it and see and see what it's going
- 18:51Speaker 3: to take.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm leaning towards doing it. If you don't, I
- 18:55Speaker 2: would take it on. I just the fomo in me.
- 19:00Speaker 3: I'm not worried about the fomo. I don't want somebody
- 19:02Speaker 3: to steal it. Yeah, of course, of course, And I
- 19:05Speaker 3: think people somebody would.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I think you're right, not that like you can't have
- 19:10Speaker 2: your bracket. Anybody can have a.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Bracket, right, But I think maybe we might be synonymous
- 19:17Speaker 3: with it for this for Hallmark.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Correct. So moving on? Time will tell Okay, before we
- 19:26Speaker 2: keep going, we should probably talk about that little seven
- 19:28Speaker 2: day magic mind experiment we did last week.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that thing that I thought would absolutely do nothing,
- 19:34Speaker 3: and somehow I did something.
- 19:36Speaker 2: I tried it because my afternoons have been rough, like
- 19:39Speaker 2: I'll sit down to work and immediately think Nope, not today.
- 19:43Speaker 2: And I tried.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Because my brain fog has been real. I can start
- 19:49Speaker 3: the day feeling like I'm on top of things, and
- 19:51Speaker 3: then by noon I'm like staring at the screen going
- 19:54Speaker 3: like what.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Was I doing?
- 19:56Speaker 3: So around day three of the Magic Mind, I remember
- 19:59Speaker 3: thinking I'm like, oh, I'm just doing my thing.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I'm not pausing, going what are you doing? Wendy? Do
- 20:06Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 20:07Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 20:07Speaker 2: The biggest thing for me was that I wasn't scrambling
- 20:09Speaker 2: to find my focus. It's like my attention span stopped
- 20:12Speaker 2: fighting with me. And because it's not coffee level intensity,
- 20:16Speaker 2: I wasn't jittery. I could just sit and do the thing.
- 20:18Speaker 3: I know, you're the kind of girl that's like I
- 20:21Speaker 3: can't drink a coffee in the afternoon.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Here's the thing for me.
- 20:23Speaker 3: It didn't like change my personality or fix my life
- 20:27Speaker 3: in any way, but it did make the week feel
- 20:30Speaker 3: a little bit easier, especially towards the end of the week, where.
- 20:34Speaker 2: I'm like done, Yeah, just through the edges, a little
- 20:37Speaker 2: bit less fog, more focus, And if your brain feels
- 20:41Speaker 2: like a little cluttered browser window most days, this might help.
- 20:45Speaker 2: So if you are curious, we do have a link.
- 20:47Speaker 2: It's Magicmind dot com. Slash Girls Gone twenty and the
- 20:52Speaker 2: code Girls Gone twenty gets you a discount.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Try it for seven days and see if it does
- 20:57Speaker 3: anything for you. We were surprised in a good way way.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Megan emails regarding a Keller Christmas Vacation. Megan says, somewhat
- 21:07Speaker 2: newer listener here, but I'm making my way through your
- 21:09Speaker 2: archives pretty much on a daily basis, so the parasocial
- 21:13Speaker 2: relationship is fully realized. We've made it, Megan, we haven't
- 21:18Speaker 2: made it. I love the podcast. You're always entertaining, and
- 21:22Speaker 2: we often not always have similar takes on the movies.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Welcome Megan. I'm linked to the new movies as always,
- 21:29Speaker 2: but finally watched Keller Christmas Vacation this past weekend and
- 21:31Speaker 2: listened to your podcast on it this morning. If you
- 21:34Speaker 2: talked about this and I was distracted, then ignore me
- 21:36Speaker 2: for sure. I don't remember hearing this anywhere and had
- 21:41Speaker 2: to bring it up. When they're in the square listening
- 21:43Speaker 2: to the choir about an hour and fifteen into the
- 21:46Speaker 2: movie If played with commercials, cal is standing behind Emory
- 21:50Speaker 2: and talking to her about the photos she's taking. He
- 21:53Speaker 2: says something about her taking a shot at love and
- 21:55Speaker 2: you just got to get your head in the game,
- 21:56Speaker 2: and she replies, thanks. Coach Bolton, a high school musical
- 22:00Speaker 2: friends that I was fully entertained by That's it. That's
- 22:04Speaker 2: the whole comment. Thank you both for the daily entertainment
- 22:07Speaker 2: on my morning walks. I don't know what I'll do
- 22:10Speaker 2: once I'm all caught up on the archives. I mean, Megan,
- 22:12Speaker 2: we're not going anywhere. I also join the patreons. You
- 22:16Speaker 2: beat me to it.
- 22:17Speaker 1: There's so many back episodes to dig through there. Although
- 22:23Speaker 1: if you want to talk parasocial, they could go off
- 22:24Speaker 1: the rails in there. It's so much more personal, much
- 22:27Speaker 1: more personal. But yes, at patreon dot com slash.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Megan and Wendy, it's right there for you. Come join us.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Some people lock down their archives. I don't know. It'd
- 22:37Speaker 2: be too much work. Honestly, it's so much work.
- 22:40Speaker 3: But I'm I get a little like weird feeling in
- 22:43Speaker 3: my stomach when they're like, I go back and listen
- 22:45Speaker 3: to the archives.
- 22:46Speaker 2: I'm like, oh boy, oh, don't do.
- 22:50Speaker 3: That, you know, because in our early days of Hallmark
- 22:54Speaker 3: reviews they were not great.
- 22:57Speaker 2: They were so you're worried that our Patreon might not
- 23:01Speaker 2: be great. Oh I don't care if they Oh you're
- 23:04Speaker 2: saying people go back to listen to our old Hallmark reviews. Yeah, yeah, Yeah,
- 23:09Speaker 2: you can really see the evolution over the podcast for sure.
- 23:13Speaker 3: No, I've come listen to our Patreon like, I think
- 23:16Speaker 3: there's great stuff there, crash out of epic measure, crying, laughing,
- 23:24Speaker 3: times of laughing a lot.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I think.
- 23:27Speaker 3: It's a good place. I think it's a great place. Also,
- 23:30Speaker 3: if you didn't know, we have a YouTube channel.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Oh gosh, if you want to go way back, there's
- 23:35Speaker 2: six years of YouTube videos there.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Yeah, kind of the same content, same idea as Patreon.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I had this thought the other night.
- 23:44Speaker 3: I was like, how long?
- 23:45Speaker 2: How long are we going to be doing this Hallmark podcast?
- 23:48Speaker 3: I turned fifty this year and I was like, and
- 23:51Speaker 3: we've been working together a long time.
- 23:53Speaker 2: I'm so worried about what the next part of this.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Oh.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Megan always gets afraid, like at the I'm like, it's December,
- 23:58Speaker 2: it's almost January. I always want to quit.
- 24:02Speaker 3: No, because how long have we been working together? Now?
- 24:06Speaker 3: By the way, this is what you would get on Patrion.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Twelve years.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, am I gonna be sixty two still doing this?
- 24:12Speaker 3: Can you imagine we're still gonna be doing this another
- 24:14Speaker 3: twelve years?
- 24:15Speaker 2: You say that like it's a bad thing. No, I'm not.
- 24:18Speaker 2: But I'm like, am I who's gonna listen.
- 24:20Speaker 3: To a sixty two year old talk about a Hallmark movie?
- 24:22Speaker 2: I mean, I think there's a sixty two year old
- 24:24Speaker 2: listening to this episode right now who's offended at the
- 24:27Speaker 2: idea that a sixty two year old's opinion isn't valuable
- 24:31Speaker 2: and entertaining. That is fair. I know. I just have
- 24:34Speaker 2: like a spin out the other day. I'm like, no,
- 24:36Speaker 2: getting too old. I need to join a pickle pickleball group.
- 24:43Speaker 2: I don't know, but I'm not done yet. I'm not
- 24:46Speaker 2: done yet either. Okay, what's next? No, I'm not looking
- 24:49Speaker 2: to quit right now?
- 24:50Speaker 3: Have I said too much?
- 24:54Speaker 2: Can I go forward with our next email?
- 24:56Speaker 3: Mary Louise writes, the only part of the movie A
- 25:00Speaker 3: Newport Christmas that was shot in Newport were the dock scenes.
- 25:05Speaker 2: They kuld fooled me. I thought they filmed not on
- 25:07Speaker 2: a Windows ninety five computer. Not the wom the ocean. Yeah,
- 25:13Speaker 2: like running along the dock when she first arrives that
- 25:16Speaker 2: area of the dock. Gotcha. The rest of the movie
- 25:19Speaker 2: was shot in Western New York, including Buffalo, Akron and Lewiston. Well,
- 25:25Speaker 2: we did get some feedback on social media too about
- 25:28Speaker 2: that as well, because we talked about how it was
- 25:30Speaker 2: filmed on location. Why couldn't it look more like water? Well,
- 25:34Speaker 2: that's because it wasn't.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Got it?
- 25:36Speaker 2: Got it, Mary says, regarding The Three Wisest Men, just
- 25:39Speaker 2: a quick bright spot in an otherwise not so hot movie.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Hot take. Send your emails to Mary the mom's brilliant
- 25:48Speaker 2: defense of her son at the dinner table. Well written,
- 25:52Speaker 2: well timed, and well said. Mary did send this before
- 25:56Speaker 2: our review of that movie came out. Got it?
- 25:59Speaker 3: Ooh King's Hawaiian Sorry every time. I'm never gonna forget.
- 26:04Speaker 2: That Neubrin little yep yellow. Mary goes on to say,
- 26:09Speaker 2: I have been a fan of Margaret Colin barb Ma.
- 26:13Speaker 2: I don't know what that means. Oh, I think it means.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I think it's touched and it's Tyler. Yeah, I got it.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Since As the World Turns, where she played Margo and
- 26:22Speaker 2: ended up marrying her real life co star Justin Deis,
- 26:26Speaker 2: she was also great in Independence Day. Mary goes on
- 26:28Speaker 2: to say, I also loved Kim's line about everyone loving
- 26:31Speaker 2: a trilogy at the end in the hospital waiting room,
- 26:33Speaker 2: and Paul's muffled reaction. It kind of goes from Jamie
- 26:38Speaker 2: in regards to a variety of topics. Jamie starts by saying,
- 26:41Speaker 2: one of you admitted to not seeing real genius, and
- 26:44Speaker 2: to that, I say, what you need to stop what
- 26:46Speaker 2: you're doing and watch it. Megan, you've seen real genius
- 26:51Speaker 2: like eighty in the eighties. Yeah, it's a movie. Yes,
- 26:55Speaker 2: you don't remember talking about this.
- 26:56Speaker 3: No, it has Val Kilmer in it, like a golden
- 27:00Speaker 3: rip Ohl in the castle.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Oh look a castle. That's me Lindy Boose. She does
- 27:06Speaker 2: tend to play the same character and is a bit grating. Yikes.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Have you seen the twenty fourteen series The Librarians, where
- 27:12Speaker 2: she plays a lead named Cassandra. No, but we talk
- 27:16Speaker 2: about this The Librarians. It's not ringing a bell. I
- 27:21Speaker 2: thought we talked about it. Maybe, Oh, there's a new
- 27:25Speaker 2: spinoff The Librarians the next chapter. I do think we
- 27:28Speaker 2: talked about this series perhaps when we did Holidays and
- 27:31Speaker 2: I was like, I could get into a show about librarians.
- 27:35Speaker 2: You could, Jamie says, Robert Buckley, not Junior. I legit
- 27:40Speaker 2: think that in real life he is essentially Ted Cooper,
- 27:43Speaker 2: so likable and real. It was a great movie. I
- 27:45Speaker 2: would rewatch it even during non holiday times. He has
- 27:49Speaker 2: been a co host on drama Queens a One Tree
- 27:52Speaker 2: Hill rewatch podcast for seasons seven to nine, the seasons
- 27:55Speaker 2: he was a part of and he is one hundred
- 27:58Speaker 2: percent the best part of the potos. If you have
- 28:00Speaker 2: some spare time, lol. Thank you Jamie for seeing us.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Yes for the lol. Listen to a few episodes. I
- 28:08Speaker 2: did see that they did like a live final episode.
- 28:11Speaker 2: I've never seen One Tree Hill. I have watched One
- 28:13Speaker 2: Tree Hill.
- 28:14Speaker 3: I did listen to that podcast in the early days
- 28:17Speaker 3: when they first launched, but I haven't.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Listened One Tree Hill. Hold up on rewatch Bummer. So
- 28:23Speaker 2: it's nice. I mean it does.
- 28:24Speaker 3: It's highly sexualized for teenage girls. I didn't watch it
- 28:32Speaker 3: through that lands when I initially watched it, But now
- 28:34Speaker 3: as a fifty year old woman, I'm.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Like, you know, I'm glad we've come around to the
- 28:37Speaker 2: place we are. My husband and a neighbor we're talking
- 28:39Speaker 2: about back to the future the other day and my
- 28:42Speaker 2: neighbor was like, you know, I was rewatching that and
- 28:45Speaker 2: Biff is basically assaulting her back that. I was like, absolutely, Yeah.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Back to Jamie, who says on Misslete Murders, I am
- 28:55Speaker 2: super glad I watched She's in one based on your recommendation.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Thank you. So now my only complaint is I must
- 29:01Speaker 2: made a week for the new episodes to drop. This was,
- 29:04Speaker 2: of course said before all episodes had dropped. Too bad,
- 29:06Speaker 2: it's such a limited seasonal release. I did post, may
- 29:10Speaker 2: I share, I posted, I just saw the suggestion that
- 29:13Speaker 2: we get a summer season of Missiletoe Murders for Christmas
- 29:15Speaker 2: in July, and honestly, don't hate it. Six episodes in
- 29:18Speaker 2: the summer six during countdown to Christmas? What say you
- 29:21Speaker 2: at Ken Cooperri's and Ken himself responded, Emily runs a
- 29:27Speaker 2: year round Christmas store. There are story possibilities for all
- 29:30Speaker 2: four seasons, and I would absolutely love to tell them.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Oh m G.
- 29:38Speaker 3: Yes, I could get down with six episodes in the summertime. Yeah, Hallmark,
- 29:44Speaker 3: are you listening?
- 29:44Speaker 2: Wouldn't that be great? Yes? Christmas in July and then
- 29:47Speaker 2: we still get the six. We still get the six
- 29:50Speaker 2: at Christmas time. I agree, we want it, you know,
- 29:52Speaker 2: it's your primetime. I get it, but this would do well.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Jamie finishes by saying, I have a question, how do
- 29:58Speaker 2: we think Sue feels about Violet c literally not loving
- 30:01Speaker 2: working at the diner. Could she have asked Emily one
- 30:03Speaker 2: more time for her old job back while working at
- 30:05Speaker 2: the diner? Made me laugh? That's funny. I think they
- 30:08Speaker 2: just I mean, Sue's reaction to it all is just Sue.
- 30:12Speaker 2: I love it. She's like, thanks for stealing my employee. Yeah, great,
- 30:15Speaker 2: it's great, It's perfect. Yeah. Yeah. Finally, from Adam on
- 30:19Speaker 2: Blue Sky, he says, if you haven't already recorded, you're
- 30:21Speaker 2: the more the merrier episode. Here's a dig you see
- 30:24Speaker 2: that pause. First of all, I love it when listeners
- 30:28Speaker 2: are like, I got my own did you see that? Yeah,
- 30:30Speaker 2: me too, Adam, we have already recorded it, and so
- 30:32Speaker 2: I told him I'm gonna include this in our mail bag.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Adam says early on, the hospital staff mentioned a neighboring town,
- 30:39Speaker 2: North Haverbrook, which is from the Simpsons Marge versus the Monorail.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Adam goes on to say, having finished the movie, there's
- 30:46Speaker 2: another Simpsons reference later as they ask about borrowing an
- 30:50Speaker 2: ambulance from Shelbyville, which is the rival town of the
- 30:53Speaker 2: Simpsons Springfield. Great hey, this was a really fun episode.
- 30:59Speaker 2: It was I Love Listener mail back episode. We love
- 31:01Speaker 2: hearing from you. Thank you for your emails and for
