- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, friend.
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back to Bible Track Decos.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Mike McCurray.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_00]: You're host.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: I want to thank you so much for taking your time and joining me right here today.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: I want to share with you a gospel tract that our founder, Dr. Paul Levine, the wrote many years ago.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: Now, he wrote this gospel tract about a specific person.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: Some of our gospel tracks, they contain stories, they contain illustrations, of course, they all have a Bible in them.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: But this gospel tract, I'm about to share with you.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's called a tribute to Mother.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: Now, you say, Brother Micah,
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: That gospel track.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's just a mother's dead gospel track, isn't it?
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: No, actually, it's a great gospel track to use all year round.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: I've actually got one in my track to wallet right now.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: And if I don't give it away, which I'll be looking to in the near future, it'll be there next time I see you.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: But if I'm in a diner, maybe a restaurant, or maybe I'm just...
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: And out in the hustle and bustle of life, I travel a good bit as the director of Bible tracks in corporate.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: You'll see mothers.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: And this gospel tract is a marvelous gospel tract to hand out.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe just with a quick word, hey, I love my mom and I know my mother isn't always easy, but I just want to give this to you.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: a friend of mine, Paul Ving was a friend with everybody.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think it's too much of a fib to say a friend of mine.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: If you've heard about Paul Ving, and we'll be talking more about him in the days to come, I'm excited about some things that the Lord has allowed us to do to lift up the legacy of Paul Ving, not man worship, but just giving honor to whom honor is due.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: Some things we'll talk about in the future.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: But a friend of mine wrote this gospel tractor wrote this, a friend of mine wrote this, if you would have mind reading when you have a chance.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: And just as right there on the front, a tribute to Mother has beautiful design there, says Mom, M.O.M.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: And if you turn that upside down, it says, wow, doesn't it?
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: But Proverbs 31, 28 says this, her children arise up and call her blessing.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: Paul Levine said this, my mother went home to heaven at age 91, to this day, I can't describe her godly life adequately and all that her memory means to me.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: She gave me to God before I was born, and as soon as I was able to understand the plan of salvation, she led me to the Savior.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: Mother never graduated from high school.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: But she taught me many things I could never have learned in our institutions of higher learning.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: She never sang in the choir, but at home where it really counted her life was a constant song.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: She was sweet, cheerful, and supremely happy in the Lord.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: My mother told me, Paul, when you grow up and get married, be good to your wife.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: Tell her often that you love her.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: Paul, don't ever borrow money unless you have to.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: If you want something you can get along without, don't buy it on credit, wait until you can pay for it.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: Then buy it.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: She taught me that promises that could not be kept should not be made.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: In other words, she believed it was better to act without promising than to promise without acting.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: However, she made allowance for unforeseen difficulties in this way.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: She said always try to pay her debts before they are due, but if you find that you owe someone on a certain date and can't pay it, walk right up to that person and pay something, even if it's only a dollar or two.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: Tell him you're sorry you can't pay it all and pay it as soon as possible.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: I used to come home from church and practice preaching as a little boy.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: Pastor Fred Nilsson used to have a lot of steam in the pulpit and I secretly wanted to preach just like he did.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: I had to wake up a pulpit of some chairs or a box out of holler and yell and wave my arms.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: Mother never ridiculed this preaching instead she always encouraged me and in this way brought me up to be a preacher.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: When I left home at 14, mother made it easy for me, she made it easy for me to go.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: She didn't allow me to see her weep.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: She just padded me on the back and said, God bless your son, remember?
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: You belong to him, and whatever he wants you to do, do it.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: She never hindered me as I sought to do God's will to the best of my understanding.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: I never saw her much after that, only when I'd come home for brief visits.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: She heard me preach my first sermon when I was 15 to see her in the audience was a tremendous incentive to serve God to the best of my ability.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: I could always count on my mother's prayers.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: When I was small, she would take me by the hand and say, let's pray.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: Then she'd start and I mean she would pray.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Many times I watched the tears stream down her face as she'd intercede for a salvation of her children.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: God's word was precious to her.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: She loved the Bible.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: When we presented her with a new one, she gave me her old one with its broken binding, loose covers and well-marked passages.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: All the pages are so fingered many verses underlined, places worn where mother lingered, where she left a
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: is a short verse by John Peterson that Dr. Paul included.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: No, Dr. Paul says she wasn't perfect.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: I understand that no human is.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: I never heard her swear, though, read dirty books or look at filthy magazines instead.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: I heard her pray and feed on the scriptures.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: She took me to sunny school and church and made me sit still.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: When I got a little fidgety, she pinched me just above the knee and twisted when I thought was a 90 degree angle.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: that settled me down.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: Mother also took me to church on some nights into the midweek prayer services.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: And when there were special meetings at the church, we went every night.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: School or no school, homework or no homework, God and the church were first.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: Once, when I was about eight years old, someone gave me a dime, I felt like a millionaire.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: On the way home, I dropped my dime and it rolled into the grass, I started to hunt for it frantically.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: But Mother said, let's go home and pray about it.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Then come down on the morning, and God will help you find your dime.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: So we went home and both pray that I'd find it the following day wasn't a kind of her to take such a such an interest in a little old time, but that was mother.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: She taught me to pray about everything.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: Well, in the morning, I could hardly wait to go down to the corner and search for my dime and believe you're not.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: I found two dimes.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: While mother didn't leave us a lot of worldly goods, she left behind something that all the bulging bank accounts of all the world's multi-millionaires couldn't buy.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: Faith in God as taught by a sweet, godly Christian mother.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: How about you?
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: What have you taught your children mother?
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: Will they be able to say this to you?
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: When I arrive in that heavenly city where it never comes sorrow or care, I'll say to my dear, precious mother, it was you who invited me here to Christ alone be the glory.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: He my sins and his body did bear, yet to heaven, I might not have come, had you not invited me here.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: That poem, anonymous, not sure who wrote it, but Dr. Paul included it, and what a pulling it thought.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: He goes on to conclude this gospel tract, a grief-stricken mother said to me, please pray for my daughters.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: When they were small, they wanted to be saved, and they wanted me to be saved too, but I was not interested.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: They're not saved, and now they're not interested.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: Mother, the salvation of your children is the most important thing.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: Other things are fine in their places, but seek first to be a good Christian mother and bring up your children to no God.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: A hundred years from now, it won't make much difference what kind of food you prepare for them or what clothes they wear.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: It won't matter from what university they graduated.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: But through a long and less eternity, it will matter greatly what kind of mother you were.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: If you've never trusted Christ as your personal Savior,
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: Come to him, as my mother did, Dr. Paul invites.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: He loves you.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: He died for you.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: He is now seated at the right hand of God.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: He wants to save you.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: You can receive him now.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: He cleans you from your sins and make you a child of God.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: John 1, 12 says, but as many as received him to them, gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: God loves you.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: He loves your children.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: The Lord wants them to be saved while they're young.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: He wants them to become strong, but who are dedicated Christians and good, law-binding citizens.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: God may even call them the full-time Christian work.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: The only way you can be the mother you should be is to receive the Lord Jesus and trust him to forgive your sins and give you eternal life.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: then go all out to be a godly example to your children.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: Read the Bible, pray every day, join an excellent Bible-centered, Christ-exulting church that believes in separation from sin and unbelief.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: Have you made a decision today?
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you're not a mother.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you just heard this plea that Dr. Paul put in the written form so many decades ago.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: His mother's name was Holda, H-U-L-D-A.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Bible tracks we have what we call the Holda Living Prayer Band.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Just an opportunity for people to pray as Miss Holda did for the Ministry of Bible
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: Once a week or so I'll send out a prayer request.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't every single week, but often I will, and just let people know what they can pray for for Bible tracks and corporate it.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: If you'd like to join that, you can text me, text the word prayer, P-R-A-Y-E-R.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: The word prayer, to this number, 3-0-9.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: 3, 1, 6, 7, 2, 4, 0.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: Again, that's 3, 0, 9, 3, 1, 6, 7, 2, 4, 0.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'd love for you to join in.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it's the memory of hold a Levine, but I wonder.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: what prayers, though the memories are just that.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: They don't necessarily have any power today, but prayers do outlive those that pray them.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: I wonder what prayers she prayed for her son and her and his ministry, a ministry that's spanned over 60 years.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: His first message
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: 15 years old, and he was in full-time evangelism for over 60 years, passed away in 1996 Dr. Paul did, and he had such great respect for his mother.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: Now friend, if you'd like to get this gospel tract, it meant so much to Dr. Paul that he immortalized it in the written word.
