- 2:00I want to welcome to the show of the show. State Agriculture Commission Kent
- 2:02Leonhard, Good morning, sir, Welcome to the show. Good morning,
- 2:06Dave. I'm great to be here, Thanks for having me on. Thank
- 2:07you for being There's been a while since we've had you on. What's new
- 2:10with you, sir. Well, we're obviously in the middle of the legislative
- 2:14session, but at the same time, we are out there working to promote
- 2:17agriculture, and I'm proud to say it's a great time to be in agriculture
- 2:22in West Virginia. The National ad Statistics released some figures last week that were
- 2:28great. One thousand more producers from seventeen twenty seventeen when I first took office
- 2:32to twenty twenty two. Red meat productions up over fifty percent. We've got
- 2:38retail sales sales for retailers up fifty seven percent in that timeframe. Cattle numbers
- 2:45are trending up. Everything's looking great in agriculture, and it's because we have
- 2:50all our partners and at higher education just working together. And speaking of which
- 2:55I know that there were some announcements made about some things going on in the
- 2:59realm of higher education, including over at West Virginia State. There's some exciting
- 3:01things going on there as it relates to agriculture. There's a lot of programs.
- 3:07It's great because you have Parkersburg and WVU and West Virginia State and Potomac
- 3:14all trying to develop agricultural programs. That just shows the enthusiasm that's out there
- 3:19for agriculture in the state of West Virginia. This week is National FFA Week.
- 3:23I visited three schools in the last two days and talked to the students,
- 3:28hopefully inspired them to continue even if they don't stay in agriculture when they
- 3:31leave those programs of the educated consumers. But the neat thing about it,
- 3:36Dave, is we have a record number of students enrolled in FFA in West
- 3:40Virginia of all times. That's awesome. I mean, it really isn't.
- 3:46And I think when you go in and you talk to these students, mister
- 3:47Commissioner, I think that you tell them, look, you don't just have
- 3:51to be a farmer. I mean they are not novig anything wrong with farming,
- 3:53but there are other ways you can get paid, have a good living
- 3:57in the agriculture community. Oh absolutely. Look at some of the economic development
- 4:01we've brought in as since I've been commissioner, like Mountaintop Beverage up in Morgantown.
- 4:05That's to it aseptic milk processing and creating three hundred jobs that help fill
- 4:12that void when we lost my land. Farmers markets have tripled. There's we're
- 4:15working with nonprofits like the Food and Farm Coalition and the Farmers Market Association,
- 4:20and farmers markets have almost tripled since I've been in office. There's a lot
- 4:26of different things. We've got research, you've got chemists, you've got microbiology,
- 4:30you've got economic development, and you've got agritourism. You can't forget that
- 4:33too. That's a big thing right now. Agriturism is becoming a big thing
- 4:36across America. It sure is becoming a big thing. And you know,
- 4:40I like to tell a little bit about you know what makes ag I mean
- 4:43tourism in West Virginia so wonderful. It's our clean waters and our beautiful forests.
- 4:48And your Department of Agriculture plays a big part in that. Talking again
- 4:51with State agricultur Commission knt Lee and hard you mentioned the session. What have
- 4:55you been keeping an eye on as far as the session goes, Well,
- 4:58we're work on trying to get some truth and labeling things, going to make
- 5:02sure that people know what they're eating, you know, because a lot of
- 5:04people are worried about the sale based meats and things of that nature. We
- 5:09hope that gets through the legislature. Obviously, the budget's always a big concern,
- 5:14and we're also trying to make sure that we do something on protecting our
- 5:19farmlands from foreign lands. I know that's a big thing. It wasn't long
- 5:24ago when everybody was touting about China coming in and the oil and gas industry.
- 5:28I was one of the state leaders that was not in favor of that,
- 5:31and fortunately it did not happen. But now we're trying to get some
- 5:34things codified. Our bill proposal uses Trump's executive order just listing those countries that
- 5:42are on the terrorist state to make sure that they can't come in and buy
- 5:46lands in West Virginia. There is a lot of concern about the matter of
- 5:49fact, Commissioner, I was reading an article about that the other day,
- 5:53about China coming in and buying up. As you said, at one time
- 5:56it was considered to be oil and gas. Now it's farm land that they're
- 5:59trying. That's correct. Fortunately for West Virginia, I've checked. We don't
- 6:03really have any of that going on right at this time, but we want
- 6:09to make sure we're wary of that. You know, there's other states that
- 6:12are bigger in agriculture that are a greater target. I've checked in with the
- 6:15see where the industries are doing their research, and there's folks that want to
- 6:19make sure there's research is protected because some of the foreign companies do do research
- 6:27right here and we want to benefit from that as well. It's a very
- 6:30complicated issue. We don't want to take a person's property rights away from telling
- 6:34to whoever they want, but we also want to make sure we protect agriculture.
- 6:38Very complicated. I don't know if we're going to get that across the
- 6:41finish line this year. I tried last year to get it across something stopped
- 6:46it. We're trying again this year. There's been some debate in of course
- 6:51it's under the dome, but also has been talked about in the media as
- 6:55it pertains this whole raw milk thing. Do you have an opinion on that,
- 6:58you're a farm guy, I don't completely understand it myself, but do
- 7:01you have an opinion on that? Well, my opinion on it is that
- 7:03people have a right to choose and if they want to drink raw milk.
- 7:10Let them go drink. Let them drink raw milk, but they need to
- 7:14know what they're getting into. People do get sick from raw milk. It
- 7:18does need to pre properly labeled and there should be some things on the label
- 7:23that tells when the milk was produced and what the shelf life is and how
- 7:27it should be marketed. I prefer to use the old pasteurization myself. It's
- 7:33worked for a long time. It's worked for a long time. But there
- 7:36are people that are passionate about it, and they should pursue their passion,
- 7:41but just be careful on how you do. Say Agriculture commission can't. Leonhardes

- 8:03Saturday to be exactly annual Winter Blues Farmers Market happening one toll six at Thekyble
- 8:07Seaman Convention Center, So talk about that. Well, this is a great
- 8:11event that we have every year. It's getting bigger and bigger every year,
- 8:15and I want to assure those that showed up. Last year. We had
- 8:18so many people come in, it was very crowded and it was tough to
- 8:22get through. So the space has been expanded, the aisles are wider.
- 8:26We hope you have a better It was a great experience for everybody. We
- 8:30had record sales and we hope to break those records again this year, but
- 8:35it should be a little bit better experience during the high times, and we
- 8:37also extended it an hour for this year's show. We tie it in with
- 8:45the Small Farms Conference where we bring people in and we teach them how to
- 8:48do a small farm in West Virginia. We do this with one of our
- 8:52partners at WVU Extension and it works out great every year. So proud to
- 8:56be hosting this again this year. I want to switch gears here for a
- 9:01moment. You've announced, sir, that you will be running for reelection as
- 9:03Agriculture Commissioner. You have at least two other opponents that I'm aware of.
- 9:07Why should the voters of West Virginia reelect can't leenhard to state agriculture commissioner?
- 9:11Well, obviously probably, I'm already proven. I kept agriculture open during COVID,
- 9:16which was no small chore. Exactly, our stores were fuller than our
- 9:24neighboring states. I talked to these ag commissioners. My peers elected me to
- 9:28be the president of the Southern Association of State Departments of Agriculture Big states.
- 9:31How cool is that West Virginia, not a big ag state as like Georgia,
- 9:37Florida, and Texas, gets elected by those individuals to be the Southern
- 9:41We did that in twenty twenty two. I'm currently vice president of the Southern
- 9:45US Trade Association, again elected unanimously by my peers, and in eighteen months,
- 9:52if re elected, I'll be the president. Now, we don't do
- 9:54a lot of foreign trade, but I want to be able to invite food
- 9:58processing into this like we did with Mountaintop Beverage. And I know others that
- 10:03want to come to the state. We're going to be working on that,
- 10:05and I can look them in the eye and say, if you want to
- 10:07get into foreign trade and help with the economy in West Virginia. I can
- 10:11help you. If I sit back and don't do those type of things,
- 10:13we'll never get anywhere. So that's some of the reasons why they should re
- 10:18elect me. And again we talked about the statistics. It's growing. Even
- 10:22though I don't run FFA, our numbers are growing in FFA because we're partnered
- 10:26with all those the schools, Department of Education, the USDA, got great
- 10:31working relationships with them. I've testified before Congress on chronic wasting disease getting those
- 10:37studies improved. There's an awful lot of things that I do at the national
- 10:41level, and currently I am chair of the Rural Development and Financial Security Committee
- 10:50of the National Association Departments of Agriculture. So we're very much involved. We're
- 10:54very much engaged. We're moving West Virginia agriculture forward. That's why I'm going
- 10:58to ask Beta Real at Kent Leonhardt, you know that just occur to be
- 11:03We'll let you go on this one on a kind of a high note here.
- 11:07When that first Board of Public Works meeting comes up on January twenty twenty
- 11:11five, it's going to be interesting because there's going to be a new governor
- 11:13one way or the other because governor Justice is term limited. At new Secretary
- 11:16of State, Auditor at treasure, Attorney general, all those are going to
- 11:20be new people in those positions. You're the that makes you the veteran,
- 11:24sir, so that means you're in charge, right, Well, it doesn't
- 11:26make me in charge. The new government will be leading those meetings. But
- 11:31that's one of the decisions I made to stay agriculture and be commissioner so that
- 11:37we do have somebody that's with experience that are sitting on that board of Public
- 11:39Works. All right, ad Commissioner Kent Lee Hart. Always a pleasure to
- 11:43have you in the show, sir. Good luck with everything, including the
- 11:46big event at the Kyle sum Of Convention Center this weekend. We'll talk again

- 14:35a little bit later on, but right now I want to walk come into
- 14:37the show from the State Capitol. Brad Michaelhanny, Brad, good morning,
- 14:41how are you? Oh Hi, Dave. I've got to keep it short
- 14:43because these House Finance Committee has taken up some pay raises. I'm hoping to
- 14:48hear your name in mind, Well, that ship sailed with me when I
- 14:52ceased being the same employee a couple of years ago. So I am going
- 14:54to only keep you on here just for a little bit. A couple of
- 14:56quick things. Did you happen to hear the show yesterday with Great Thomas?
- 15:00If not, go back and listen to it, because he went after this
- 15:03legislative session uh, and the term lackluster has has been thrown about. He
- 15:09apparently thinks it's been a lackluster session. Brad, does that surprise you coming
- 15:13from Greg? You know, he is politically aligned with many of the people
- 15:18in charge of uh, the legislature and the chambers and who make decisions about
- 15:24the session. So it does, and that that actually gives it some credibility
- 15:28With me, I will say my thought is always that that the legislature is
- 15:33not here to entertain us, and there frankly, there is an entertainment factor
- 15:37because these are political figures and catching the public's attention is an aspect of what
- 15:43they do. I will say that a lot of when we say it's just
- 15:50between me and you, when we say it's boring, what we mean is
- 15:54I mean they're doing things but it's just not stuff that really catches the I
- 16:00not stuff that captures the imagination. It's just you know, bordler plate,
- 16:03we running the mill stuff. And in between all that is you know,
- 16:11things that that are you know, red meat issues or things that are that
- 16:19are more high in conflict. And so I would tend to agree that that
- 16:26there's been not a lot of ambition, not much that has been imaginative or
- 16:33inspiring out of this session. But to say they haven't been doing anything,
- 16:37which I don't think is the claim Greg May. But to say they have
- 16:41been doing thing is is you know, not entirely fair. Let me let
- 16:45me read to you out. Let me just get rid of all your listeners.
- 16:48They're gonna they're gonna their eyes a blaze over. Let me read you
- 16:52the the things up for passage today in the Senate, Establishing accreditation deadline for
- 16:57convention and visitors, revising service obligations for certain doctoral medical degree programs, Continuing
- 17:06and updating Board of Risk and Insurance Management, Clarifying compensation for county tax collector.
- 17:11So those are examples, and they're doing things, but they are not
- 17:15necessarily the things that capture the public imagination. You're right, Brad Macklheeney's here.
- 17:19I know you're on a time cratch, but I did want to ask
- 17:22you about this. You had alluded to this, and I read the story
- 17:25at wv metronews dot com that there could be a big honor coming for the
- 17:29late great Woody Williams. Talk about that. Yeah, every state gets two
- 17:33people to honor at the US Capital in Statuary Hall. One of your regular
- 17:38listeners, Derek Evans, may be aware of the contents of Statuary Hall and
- 17:44the kind of respect that is deserved by those honored there. There are two
- 17:48statues by West Virginia Francis Pierpont, who was founding father of the state,
- 17:55as well as Jonathan Kenna John Ken John Kenna, who was a political figure
- 18:03from West Virginia both in Congress and in the US Senate in the late eighteen
- 18:07hundreds. States can differ up who they put to honor there. And Woody
- 18:14Williams, who died two years ago, America's last living US Medal of Honor
- 18:18recipient, is well deserving, admired just across the board by people, both
- 18:27for his World War II heroics as well as his work to honor veterans in
- 18:33the years after that. So the Senate resolution is going to potentially switch out
- 18:42the John Kenna statue for a Woody William statue, and it would be there
- 18:47in perpetuity, not only for West Virginias to admire, but more broadly for
- 18:52people who enter the US Capital under routine, calm and approved can psicians to
- 19:00also admire. Finally, Brad, before we let you go to the Jimmy
- 19:03Riston story, and I'm going to talk about an end detail for the biggest
- 19:07part of the rest of the show lead STORYEWV Metronews dot com. Again,
- 19:11I've got a lot more information I want to get out there to the public
- 19:12about this, but from the surface. Before we let you go and listen
- 19:15to budget hearings, Brad, what are you hearing from the Capitol? You
- 19:21know, I think it's wait and see, and in fairness, that is
- 19:26probably appropriate. We do know that Secretary Riston was pulled over for some reason.
- 19:34The initial call was described as erratic driving on Carlton East End. The
- 19:38pullover was actually shortly outside of that on I seventy seven. Apparently a state
- 19:45vehicle was involved, and it was maybe eleven o'clock at night. So typically
- 19:48that will be after hours, even for a secretary. And we finally know
- 19:56that the Charleston police are having a look at their procedures, so they're they're
- 20:03scrutinizing themselves. And beyond that, you know, we don't know if it
- 20:07was if a blood alcohol test was administered. It's always possible that somebody could
- 20:12be having like a low blood sugar situation. It could be that nothing was
- 20:18going on at all. We just don't know yet. But Riston has been
- 20:22a high profile member of the Justice administration because people care about their highways,
- 20:29So you know, everybody's kind of waiting to see what we can find out
- 20:33that is bankable information, you know, information you can trust, and we
- 20:38just don't. For the most part, we don't have that except for the
- 20:41basic outline. All right, Rad, go and enjoy the rest of your
- 20:45day at the Capitol. I know you will. If you are up for
- 20:48a raised, Dave, if there's a bonus or any more money being changed
- 20:55to your hands through an active state law, I will let you know it's
- 21:00probably not gonna happen. But okay, all right, Brad, I appreciate
- 21:02it. Man. We'll talk soon. Thanks a lot, Brad, McIlhenny

- 23:03the end of the Jimmy Riston story. And and quite frankly, I'll be
- 23:07honest with you, it is kind of a bizarre story when it first broke
- 23:15yesterday morning. And even the way that this story broke was kind of strange
- 23:22within itself. I'll get to that here a little bit later on. So
- 23:26it looked like a simple story yesterday. And again, everything I'm saying are
- 23:32all allegations. Everybody's innocential proven guilty. Let's please throw that out there now
- 23:36to keep the lawyers happy and whatnot. But you know, someone has perhaps
- 23:40perhaps being the key word, a little too much to drink, attempts to
- 23:44drive drives radically, and it is and it's pulled over. Sadly, it
- 23:49happens all the time, but it is. It is a little different when
- 23:55your name is Jimmy Riston and you are the state Transportation director and you're driving
- 24:00a state vehicle. So let's review a call to Metro nine to one one
- 24:08late Tuesday night at around eleven o'clock or so, had said that the witness
- 24:15that witnesses or the person that called had seen someone in a state vehicle driving
- 24:25erradically on the east end of Charleston. So Charleston Police were dispatched and jimmy
- 24:34Riston was stopped on seventy seven near Leon Sullivan Way. And according to the
- 24:42statement that was released by the Charleston PD, the driver was identified as State
- 24:51Transportation Director jimmy Riston. Now, the release said he was not charged or
- 24:59sighted at the time. Now here is where it gets a little interesting.
- 25:04Originally, originally it was thought that the person who called nine to one one
- 25:12to report the erratic driving was an off duty police officer. Well, it
- 25:22was later learned that that wasn't the case and that the person who made the
- 25:32call to nine one one was not in fact a police officer at all.
- 25:37Now this came out like late last night and in a big picture of things,
- 25:45folks, you know, it shouldn't matter who reported it, but it
- 25:49does matter if said person is misidentifying themselves as a police officer. I'm not
- 26:00an attorney. I heard Tom Payton, we asked of law your saving with
- 26:03Jeff last hour talking a little bit about it. But if you call nine
- 26:07one one and you identify yourself as a police officer, as I think this
- 26:12person did. And again, this story is changing right up to the minute.
- 26:18Then that that's a crime in and of itself. Now, the governor
- 26:25addressed the situation during his press or yesterday, and with all due respect to
- 26:32our governor and candidate for state Senate Senate, he didn't get the story totally
- 26:37right himself. The Governor alluded to mister Ristin being allowed to drive away once
- 26:48it was determined that no charges were going to be filed. That's that part
- 26:56of it. In fact, according to my sources, and I did a
- 27:00little digging on this myself, that apparently was not the case. Now I
- 27:06spoke with someone last night, completely off the record, but someone who is
- 27:11close to the investigation, who told me that mister Risten did not drive away
- 27:19and that in fact, someone came to pick him up. And I'm supposing
- 27:26someone else came to drive his vehicle away. So that part of it,
- 27:32in the initial reporting, or at least what the governor said in the press
- 27:34y yesterday, was incorrect. That's where it looked. That's the way it
- 27:38looks right now. New information has become available because originally, again it was
- 27:42stated that the police officer investigated, and the police officer just let him drive
- 27:48away. That's what the governor said. Well, apparently that wasn't that wasn't
- 27:52the case. That someone came and picked him up, drove his car to
- 27:56where the state car by the way, it is a state car to where
- 28:00to go. So the media in the Charleston area was alerted to this yesterday
- 28:06after receiving emails, photos, and videos from the traffic stop, not not
- 28:18from the police, but from someone that alerted the media in Charleston about this
- 28:26yesterday. Now, an internal investigation has been launched by the Charleston Police Department
- 28:33as to whether or not proper police procedure was followed in allowing mister Ristin to
- 28:42leave with no charges being filed. Now I'm told, for what it's worth,
- 28:51I'm told by my source that mister Ristin did not tried to play the
- 28:57do you know who I am card, as many many in the public guy
- 29:02have done in the past and will continue to do. But apparently that wasn't
- 29:04the case from what I'm told. In fact, I'm told again off the
- 29:08record, that the police actually had no idea who he was and just were
- 29:18following up on the nine to one one call, and they did not know
- 29:21who he was. There saw a lot of explaining to do with this story.
- 29:30He was apparently the driver apparently was driving erradically, perhaps perhaps intoxicated.
- 29:37Perhaps important to note no charges were filed and it was in a state vehicle
- 29:48after hours. Now, as I alluded to and talking to Brad, I
- 29:52was a state employee for a time, and they pounded upon us the usage
- 29:59of state VA vehicles, or even how to behave when we're on the clock,
- 30:03when we're driving our own personal vehicles or a rental car, whatever the
- 30:07case may be. Of course, let's be fair. I was never to
- 30:11the level of transportation director, far from being anything. I had a title
- 30:18in an office, but that was pretty much it. This story, though,
- 30:23again, is just plain plain weird. I mean, it's not Commissioner
- 30:32Carper in a park story weird, but it is weird nonetheless, and it
- 30:37is an ever evolving story. As I said, it just broke yesterday about
- 30:41twenty four hours or so ago, and then the governor had the press her,
- 30:45which kind of mucked things up a little bit. And then late last
- 30:49night Charleston Police Department comes out with a release, and then late later last
- 30:55night they came out with another release. So apparently what they are doing is
- 31:00they are going to investigate themselves as to whether or not proper procedure was followed
- 31:07in the case. It is very important to remember, folks, and again
- 31:11not a lawyer, don't play one on TV or even the radio. It
- 31:15is very important to remember that no charges were filed in this case. Done
- 31:19zero zilch. So that's kind of where we are right now. Jeff has
- 31:25a story, and I think Jeff will probably have more stories and more stories
- 31:29posted as well. All the media Charleston Ours of course is the most important
- 31:33WV Metro News dot com, but all of them, all of us are

- 37:35you, probably when I first heard it twenty four hours or so ago,
- 37:37I thought, well, okay, you know, this is not an unfortunate
- 37:39situation. It's happened. But then when this story comes out though, okay,
- 37:44the person is not a police officer that said that they were, I
- 37:51mean, it just it all seems the whole story itself just seems a whole
- 37:55lot more than just someone. And I'm not trying to diminish what is being
- 38:00alleged here, that someone had a few drinks, perhaps had a few drinks
- 38:02and drove. The governor actually said that yesterday. It seems like there's a
- 38:06whole lot more to this story. I mean, I don't know. Maybe
- 38:07I'm not a conspiracy theory kind of guy. But it just seems to me

- 38:45old the public some more honest explanations, and as always I have a pretty

- 38:55I don't always agree on everything, but we've been friends long before before she

- 39:05this, I have an open door policy here on this show, and anybody

- 39:37And the people in the city know that, and the people in the governor's

- 39:58yesterday passed a bill that would allow teachers and other staffs to carry guns if
- 40:02they choose to. Now. The bill passed eighty nine to eleven yesterday after
- 40:07an hour or so of debate. It'll now head to the Senate. A
- 40:10lot of back and forth on this one, as you may expect. It
- 40:13was the Democrats primarily against and then the Republicans for it. Delegate Kaylee Young
- 40:16from here in Kanawa County was no vote, citing her fears of safety.
- 40:21A delegate at Nietra Hamilton from Montaguelia County, a delicate Sean Hornbuckle of Cabal
- 40:25County spoke out against it. One of the folks who spoke for it was
- 40:30delegated de Foggin out of Wood County, who himself was a high school teacher.
- 40:36The teachers and staff would have to undergo training to be able to carry
- 40:40if they choose to. And getting back to Delegant Hornbuckle, he asked,
- 40:46what if the gun would accidentally be left lying around somewhere? He used example,
- 40:52teacher sets it down to go help another teacher with something, or to
- 40:58under the restroom, or whatever the case may be. Still a lot of
- 41:00unanswered questions in this The debate will continue, but again for now it has

- 42:23show yesterday, and he was calling out at least a little the legislature.
- 42:30Brad and I talked about it a little bit earlier. I'll be honest.
- 42:35When Greg first reached out to me and said he wanted to talk about the
- 42:39lackluster performance his words, lackluster or the legislature of this session, I thought,
- 42:45to be honest with you, I thought maybe he was being just a
- 42:49little facetious. It turns out though he was serious. And the one thing
- 42:53I have learned about Greg Thomas when having him on this show off and on
- 43:00for the last four years or so, is that just when you think you've
- 43:04got him figured out, he goes in the opposite direction. And he does.
- 43:09He's his own guy. I mean, he really really is. Did
- 43:14you happen to catch his disdain for Patrick Morrissey, who is now the leading
- 43:19candidate for governor A Texter On the show yesterday, asked Greg point blank who
- 43:24he was supporting for governor and he just came out and said, anyone but
- 43:30Patrick Morrissey. That's what he said. And it's not like that was the
- 43:36first time that he had said something like that anyway. Mister Thomas had sent
- 43:43me one of what he called sent me what he called the top ten reasons
- 43:50for the lackluster session, kind of going all David Letterman with the top ten
- 43:53list, and I'll give you just a couple of them in case you missed
- 43:57it yesterday. One a lame duck governor. And again, as he pointed
- 44:02out, that is not the fault of Governor Jim Justice. He is.
- 44:07He is a lame duck governor because he is term limited out by state code.
- 44:12So he's done regardless that he's gonna run for State Center and some of
- 44:15the major changes he's gonna win. So that's part of it. According to
- 44:19Greg, the constitutional officeholders, the Attorney General, Secretary of State, all
- 44:23of those are all running for other offices. All except the AG commissioner who
- 44:28you heard from earlier. Can't Leonhart, So they I'm not saying that they're
- 44:34not doing their jobs, because I'm sure they are. But Riley Moore is
- 44:37running for something else. J. B. Mcuskey's running for something else.
- 44:39Mac Warner is running for something else. Leonhardt's the only one that's left in
- 44:43that room. So that's one of the reasons Greg's words. He referred to
- 44:46a fractured, unprofessional socially conservative agenda, Ding Ding Ding. They have a
- 44:54winner there, Alex. In my opinion, you get the point. I
- 44:59would urge you to go back and listen to Greg's appearance on the show yesterday.
- 45:02Must listen to radio. Matter of fact, we even made a promo
- 45:06out of it yesterday with some of the words that Greg, that's how you
- 45:08know it's good. And Ryan will tell you that's how you know it's good
- 45:10is when we make a promo out of it, and we did, and
- 45:13it's running as a promo for the show. I'm using Greg Thomas for my

- 49:24couple of guys locally, Leo Browning and Drew Cook, wanted to pay tribute
- 49:29to one of their favorite places by holding a candlelight vigil tomorrow night. Now
- 49:35this whole thing again is being done very very tongue in cheek, just trying
- 49:39to have a little fun. Well, the story took on a life of
- 49:45its own. In fact, it's not only gone viral and is being talked
- 49:50about in our part of the world, it's gone nation and now world wide.
- 49:55Now I was told by someone in the building, someone smarter than me
- 49:59that acts reads the London Times, that this was covered by the London Times,
- 50:04you know London, the big city in England. It was on Fox
- 50:08News, etc. Etc. Well, this is the perfect, the single
- 50:14perfect event to be covered by Steve animal on our sister station ninety eight to
- 50:17seven A Mountain, Wild, Wonderful Classic Rock. In fact, the Mountain
- 50:22myself included. Ryan will be there tomorrow night for the visual for the soon
- 50:28to be torn down Hooters restaurant in Kenau City. Now, this candlelight vigil
- 50:34starts at six point thirty tomorrow night, and I have been in contact with
- 50:43one of the organizers of the event. Didn't know either one of these gentlemen,
- 50:46but I got to know him. Had a couple of lengthy phone conversations
- 50:50yesterday with one of the guys organizing, and it's a guy named Leo Brownie,
- 50:53and he is scheduled to join me on the show tomorrow to talk about
- 50:58this. And I know for a fact he's also going to be on a
- 51:00Steve Animals show tomorrow morning on nine eight seven A Mountain Wild, Wonderful Classic
- 51:05Rock. Bottom line in all this is is sometimes folks, you just got
- 51:07to have a little fun. And I've seen chatter on social media people say
- 51:13it's embarrassing to West Virginia, blah blah blah. You know, it's it's
- 51:16supposed to be a little fun. And I don't think that either one of
- 51:20these organizers. In talking to one of them, Leo yesterday, I don't
- 51:22think he realized that it would be as big. He said. Look,
- 51:25he said, look, Dave, I liked it. I just wanted to
- 51:31have a little fun, gather some people together, talk about the good times
- 51:35that we had at Hooters over the years. That's pretty much it, and
- 51:38it's gone. I did a search. As I said on social media,
- 51:42this story is huge and it's going to be a big deal apparently tomorrow night,
- 51:45six thirty at the old Hooters location in Kenall City, and yes,
- 51:51the Mountain will be there. Fun fact, I think I mentioned this on
- 51:52the show yesterday. Steve Animal from our sister station nine eighty seven, A
- 51:57Mountain, Wild, wonderful classic rock did a live broadcast at Hooters the day
- 52:00it opened, and now he's gonna close it down tomorrow night. All right,
- 52:07quick, says Dave. Jimmy was probably just dodging potholes, or it
- 52:10could have been a reaction to raw milk. All Right, we gotta go,
- 52:15thank you so much to a chimistry. Can't Lee and Hart Brad mcilhanney
- 52:17to Hoppies Live the Capitol coming up on tomorrow, We're gonna talk more about
- 52:21this thing in can All Sity with Hooters. District two congressional candidate Chris Walker
