- 1:18Speaker 2: week later. Wow, time travel. If you look at the
- 1:22Speaker 2: description ball, you'll see a legally about to take you
- 1:24Speaker 2: to a link tree. The all stuff will be down

- 1:36Speaker 2: You'll find it. It's there. It's a plane so that
- 1:38Speaker 2: you can see it. No matter what they say, you
- 1:41Speaker 2: can see it. It's there. Well, so when are we
- 1:47Speaker 2: talking about so so.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Last week was the Devin episode, and now we're back
- 1:51Speaker 1: to me. Uh So last week was very like we did.
- 1:54Speaker 1: We did a bit of a deep dive into you know,
- 1:57Speaker 1: one of Devin's obsession which is Marvel and Jing Gray
- 2:01Speaker 1: and Jean Gray Scarlett Witch, you know, like we both
- 2:05Speaker 1: love Marvel. But now we're gonna be back into one
- 2:08Speaker 1: of my main obsessions, which is like Kaiju. You know,
- 2:13Speaker 1: I like, just as Devin is obsessed with Marvel and
- 2:16Speaker 1: superheroes and super hero related genre, I'm obsessed with Kaiju.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Like I am the self proclaimed Kaiju groupie of the group. Okay.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I love giant monsters. I love that niche category of
- 2:29Speaker 1: these like like horrific, like strange, weird creatures, like I
- 2:36Speaker 1: love creature features. I love monster flicks. Okay, and we're
- 2:40Speaker 1: not like we're not talking like just regular monsters like
- 2:43Speaker 1: vampires and were wolves. I love were wolves. But like, no,
- 2:46Speaker 1: give me something unique, all right, like like God's love
- 2:50Speaker 1: of course is number one, al right, Like you can
- 2:54Speaker 1: only see this guy this poster right here, but behind
- 2:57Speaker 1: my camera is my literal shrine of Godzilla like pop figures, posters,
- 3:02Speaker 1: all right. I have every movie conceivable, like every Godzilla movie,
- 3:07Speaker 1: conceivable that you can think of. All right, and I've
- 3:10Speaker 1: seen most. I'm gonna say most because I know I
- 3:13Speaker 1: haven't seen them all, but I've seen most really good
- 3:15Speaker 1: creature feature and like horror monster flicks out there. Like
- 3:20Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago at the time of this recording,
- 3:22Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago was Devin's birthday, and at
- 3:25Speaker 1: his birthday dinner, I was talking with his boyfriend, who
- 3:29Speaker 1: is a bit of a horror like, uh, what's that word, connoisseur.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Kind of the horror genre.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he has like a huge collection of like
- 3:42Speaker 1: horror movies. He's seen them all, but like ironically he
- 3:46Speaker 1: he does not like creature flicks, but he knows he
- 3:49Speaker 1: didn't know of a few, and he even looked up
- 3:51Speaker 1: a few. We were having this topic goes like, guys,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I'm like that dude from Family guy, like if you
- 3:55Speaker 1: if like, who's seen almost who's seen pretty much every
- 3:58Speaker 1: movie out there? Yeah, they got at the gas station.
- 4:02Speaker 1: But instead with me, it's like it's creature features, like horror,
- 4:06Speaker 1: like horror monsters and kaiju flicks. And he started he
- 4:09Speaker 1: started naming off a bunch of them that he could
- 4:11Speaker 1: think of and I'm just sitting there. I like, I've
- 4:12Speaker 1: seen it. I've seen it. I've seen it. I've seen
- 4:16Speaker 1: that one too, I've seen it. Yeah, I've seen it.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And he went and he even deep dive a bit
- 4:20Speaker 1: and he pulled up more and he's like, have you
- 4:21Speaker 1: seen this? Yes? Have you seen that? Yes? Okay, and
- 4:24Speaker 1: he went like to the most niche category he could
- 4:26Speaker 1: think of, like of movies. He's like, I know you
- 4:28Speaker 1: haven't seen this. It was like, oh, yeah, I've seen
- 4:30Speaker 1: that one. And at the end of it was like,
- 4:34Speaker 1: god damn it.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Yeah he got got, he got got, Like.
- 4:38Speaker 1: What can I tell you? And the thing is is
- 4:40Speaker 1: like monster movies are not like like horror. Monsters don't
- 4:44Speaker 1: just like don't stop it, just like digital media like
- 4:49Speaker 1: like movies and video games. I've played a few monster
- 4:51Speaker 1: video games too when they were lit. But they also
- 4:54Speaker 1: they also can be found in move and books too.
- 4:57Speaker 1: All right. There, there are plenty of monsters books that
- 5:01Speaker 1: I've read. We've reviewed a few of them here, Like
- 5:04Speaker 1: we reviewed Incarnate, so that one was like, it's in
- 5:07Speaker 1: a more category of like demons and like demons and cryptids,
- 5:11Speaker 1: but it's still that's that really like it had that
- 5:14Speaker 1: really nice and grotesque like creatures and monsters that I
- 5:18Speaker 1: just loved. We've reviewed the horror, We've reviewed You Weren't
- 5:23Speaker 1: Meant to Be Human, which kind of like falls into
- 5:25Speaker 1: that category annihilation. I don't really count that because it's
- 5:30Speaker 1: more like psychological and uh, and there's so much There
- 5:35Speaker 1: are many others. I can't really name them all, but
- 5:37Speaker 1: I've read, like I have, I've read, I've read a
- 5:40Speaker 1: bunch of other books. And there's one author in particular
- 5:44Speaker 1: who writes like an who has like an entire series
- 5:49Speaker 1: of Kaiju novels, all right, and that author is we're
- 5:53Speaker 1: actually reviewing one of his books today. So the author
- 5:56Speaker 1: is Jeremy Robinson. Jeremy Robinson. He is a bit of
- 5:59Speaker 1: a knee piche author. He's an independent author. He writes
- 6:04Speaker 1: a lot of like paranormal uh like paranormal books. Uh,
- 6:10Speaker 1: mainly about like like exploring like different like not just
- 6:14Speaker 1: like uh like not just cryptids and Kaiju, but also
- 6:18Speaker 1: like some of the books that he writes are based
- 6:20Speaker 1: off of conspiracies, right, like like conspiracies surrounding like like
- 6:27Speaker 1: categories like North Sentinel Islands, the Nazis, uh Atlantis, like
- 6:33Speaker 1: all these like he took like these well known stories
- 6:36Speaker 1: that are like either just urban myth or like just
- 6:40Speaker 1: unproven or just like just total myths, right, like the
- 6:44Speaker 1: myth of Atlantis, and he's wrote he's written entire novels
- 6:47Speaker 1: around them, and it's it's really cool. And for a
- 6:51Speaker 1: long for a good minute, I was obsessed with a
- 6:53Speaker 1: lot of his novels because it was just it was
- 6:56Speaker 1: that fix I didn't know I needed, because it was
- 6:58Speaker 1: just Kaiju and monsters and and like I'm over here.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I was getting into this shit. And one of the
- 7:04Speaker 1: first novels I read from him, which is the novel
- 7:09Speaker 1: we're reviewing today, is Project Nemesis. All right, So Project
- 7:15Speaker 1: Nemesis or the Nemesis Saga is is a five to
- 7:18Speaker 1: six book series centered around what Jeremy Robin Robinson would
- 7:24Speaker 1: describe as the American version of Godzilla. Like he written this,
- 7:29Speaker 1: he wrote this book series as like his attempt to
- 7:32Speaker 1: create and establish a Kaiju franchise centered around a like
- 7:39Speaker 1: a completely original americanized Kaiju. Right, so this is so
- 7:45Speaker 1: like it had its own origin story. Now, of course,
- 7:49Speaker 1: Nemesis design is loosely based on Godzilla. Like there's some
- 7:52Speaker 1: there's certain features that the Kaiju Nemesis has that it
- 7:56Speaker 1: is very like you would look at it and be like, oh, yeah,
- 7:59Speaker 1: I can see that. That's kind of like very Godzilla themes.
- 8:02Speaker 1: But she's not the King of the monsters in this franchise.
- 8:06Speaker 1: She is the Queen of the monsters, all right. She's
- 8:09Speaker 1: an alien Kaiju. So she's not like a result of
- 8:13Speaker 1: human like folly or like radioactive like you know, she's
- 8:18Speaker 1: not born from radioactive like nuclear fallout. She's an alien.
- 8:23Speaker 1: She's an alien that was since earthed thousands of years ago,
- 8:27Speaker 1: and she's actually Nemesis, the original Nemesis, I should say,
- 8:31Speaker 1: was a genetic experiment, creates a genetic creation of an
- 8:36Speaker 1: alien race. And this alien race uses like many different
- 8:41Speaker 1: forms of warfare, and one of those warfare is kaiju warfare,
- 8:44Speaker 1: where they actually like send giant Kaiju to different planets
- 8:48Speaker 1: to either weaken or conquer the planet. So like the
- 8:53Speaker 1: Kaiju that they send, they're very powerful, they're vicious, they're dangerous,
- 8:57Speaker 1: and thousands of years ago, Nemesis or Nemesis Prime, the
- 9:02Speaker 1: original Nemesis, was sent to Earth to destroy the ancient
- 9:06Speaker 1: civilization of Atlantis, and thing is Atlantis defended itself. It
- 9:11Speaker 1: still fell, but they managed to kill that Nemesis, and
- 9:14Speaker 1: about thousands of years later, in the where the story begins,
- 9:18Speaker 1: Humanity discovers the corpse of Nemesis. So Nemesis so now
- 9:25Speaker 1: you actually don't look that was a bit of a spoiler,
- 9:28Speaker 1: So just to kind of like give you an idea,
- 9:30Speaker 1: a little background about the story, because we don't actually
- 9:34Speaker 1: learn about any of that until future novels. And the
- 9:37Speaker 1: thing and I want to say, like the thing about
- 9:39Speaker 1: the Nemesis saga is that it also ties into the Robinson,
- 9:43Speaker 1: the Greater Robinson Robinson Verse, because he has written like
- 9:48Speaker 1: so many other series and some of them actually will
- 9:51Speaker 1: connect to the Nemesis Saga later in the future. So
- 9:55Speaker 1: there's a multiverse. You know. The aliens, the alien that
- 10:00Speaker 1: sent Nemesis to Earth actually are multi versal threats, so
- 10:03Speaker 1: they're not just like they don't just come from outer
- 10:06Speaker 1: space from a different planet. They also come from different realities.
- 10:09Speaker 1: So it's really interesting that comes into play later on.
- 10:14Speaker 1: But Project Nemesis itself focuses around the birth or I
- 10:18Speaker 1: should say the rebirth of Nemesis and her rampage across
- 10:23Speaker 1: the northeastern United States. So just to jump into it,
- 10:29Speaker 1: the book itself starts starts the prologue. It's a two
- 10:34Speaker 1: part prologue. So the first part of it is it
- 10:36Speaker 1: starts in the training during a military service survival exercise
- 10:41Speaker 1: up in northern Alaska. So they're in the frozen tundra
- 10:44Speaker 1: that you have some you have, some ranger you have like, uh,
- 10:47Speaker 1: you know these are military you have like these?
- 10:50Speaker 4: Uh?
- 10:51Speaker 1: I think they were. I'm getting ahead of myself. I'm sorry,
- 10:54Speaker 1: doesn't cut that off. Coffee high is coming down. So
- 11:02Speaker 1: during a military survival exercise, some trainees come across a cave.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Some across a cave and inside the cave they discover
- 11:10Speaker 1: the corpse of this massive creature and it's unlike anything
- 11:15Speaker 1: they've that anyone has ever seen on Earth. They call,
- 11:18Speaker 1: they report it, They report the carcass, and a certain
- 11:25Speaker 1: military general comes in and he and after seeing the
- 11:30Speaker 1: alien this, the general decides to cover it up and
- 11:34Speaker 1: he executes the He executes the soldiers that discovered it
- 11:38Speaker 1: except one one guy. Uh want this one dude? He
- 11:42Speaker 1: was like a kind of like an exchange student from Japan. So, uh.
- 11:47Speaker 1: The US military does occasionally have like exchange programs with
- 11:50Speaker 1: allied nations so that way they can like learn and
- 11:54Speaker 1: trade like certain like battle tactics and you know, helped
- 11:58Speaker 1: build like stronger relationships. And uh, so this guy was
- 12:02Speaker 1: part of that program. And the thing is is that
- 12:05Speaker 1: he was he was very interested in the fact that
- 12:08Speaker 1: they found a kaiju, right, like a literal kaiju, something
- 12:11Speaker 1: out of like Japan, that original like the kaiju genre
- 12:15Speaker 1: originated in Japan. So they like, this guy was very
- 12:19Speaker 1: interested in it, and he was and he wanted to
- 12:21Speaker 1: like he actually cut a deal with the with that
- 12:24Speaker 1: with the general to cover it up. He he ends
- 12:27Speaker 1: up executing the other soldiers that discovered the carcass, and
- 12:31Speaker 1: the general begins, uh, begins a process of removing the
- 12:37Speaker 1: carcass into a secure location and also begins to study it. Uh.
- 12:41Speaker 1: And then the second half of the prologue actually goes
- 12:45Speaker 1: through the perspective of a little girl, a young little girl.
- 12:50Speaker 1: She's from a wealthy.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Family that lives in Boston, and the problem is is
- 12:57Speaker 4: that she is dead or actually like when it gets
- 13:01Speaker 4: to her perspective, she is dying because what had happened
- 13:04Speaker 4: is is that she had come home early from school
- 13:07Speaker 4: and when she walked through the door.
- 13:08Speaker 1: She walked in on her father, who had just murdered
- 13:11Speaker 1: her mother. Her father was like this rich businessman. They
- 13:14Speaker 1: lived businessman. They lived in a penthouse and like down
- 13:18Speaker 1: in like downtown Boston, and like super wealthy, and a
- 13:23Speaker 1: little bit of like cheese, A little bit of the
- 13:25Speaker 1: cheese man is that this guy was having an affair
- 13:29Speaker 1: and his wife caught him and to keep just to
- 13:32Speaker 1: shut her up, and just to shut her up, he
- 13:35Speaker 1: ends up killing her and was trying to and he
- 13:38Speaker 1: was gonna make it. He was going to make it
- 13:40Speaker 1: out to be a suicide. And but then his daughter
- 13:45Speaker 1: walks in. He's like, oh, well shit, and then he
- 13:48Speaker 1: shot her. Damn killed. So he killed his own wife
- 13:53Speaker 1: and his own daughter. And he because of how wealthy
- 13:56Speaker 1: and how influential he was, he was able to, uh,
- 14:00Speaker 1: he was able to twist the whole scene out as
- 14:02Speaker 1: a murder suicide. So his wife like discovered like either
- 14:06Speaker 1: like just to like protect his own image, like I guess,
- 14:08Speaker 1: like she was having like a psychotic break. He made
- 14:11Speaker 1: it seem like she was on medication, which she fell
- 14:13Speaker 1: off of and ended up like committing committing murder. She
- 14:17Speaker 1: killed her her daughter. He made it, he wound it up.
- 14:21Speaker 1: He twisted the story to make it look like his
- 14:24Speaker 1: wife killed their daughter and then took her own life
- 14:28Speaker 1: just to cover her up his own shady affairs, right,
- 14:32Speaker 1: and it's not. And the thing is is that it's
- 14:35Speaker 1: not long after this that that very same general that
- 14:38Speaker 1: created Actually, let me look up the general's name, because
- 14:40Speaker 1: this guy is gonna be important. Well, it's like this
- 14:46Speaker 1: guy is just not important at all. Let me pull
- 14:48Speaker 1: out the actual book because I have. I bought all
- 14:53Speaker 1: of these books. When I first read these books, I
- 14:55Speaker 1: read them all on iTunes. I bought them on iTunes.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Mm hmmm.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Because the thing about Jeremy Robin. The thing about Jeremy
- 15:03Speaker 1: Jeremy Robinson is he was mostly self Yeah, he was
- 15:08Speaker 1: mostly self published, so he published his books mostly on
- 15:11Speaker 1: Amazon and on iTunes. Occasionally he would get like he
- 15:15Speaker 1: would publish like physical copies, but most of his physical
- 15:19Speaker 1: copies were like printed as ordered, like as I said,
- 15:22Speaker 1: they're being ordered. So if someone ordered a physical copy,
- 15:24Speaker 1: they would print and like find the book and then
- 15:27Speaker 1: send it to the person and bought it, which is
- 15:28Speaker 1: pretty much what the books. The physical copies that I
- 15:30Speaker 1: have are like printed as needed. Uh, let's see. So
- 15:37Speaker 1: Endo is the name of the guy that joined the
- 15:39Speaker 1: General Gordon. General Gordon, that's his name.
- 15:50Speaker 5: Yeah anyway, so General Gordon so after So the reason
- 15:56Speaker 5: why we bring up, the reason why the.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Prologue includes this little snippet of this little girl named
- 16:04Speaker 1: Migo and her murder was because General Gordon, the guy
- 16:08Speaker 1: that the general that discovered Nemesis's corpse and covered it up.
- 16:15Speaker 1: He is pretty much on his he is dying, just
- 16:19Speaker 1: just push straight out there. He suffers from congenital heart disease,
- 16:22Speaker 1: and he had begun funding and doing extensive research into
- 16:27Speaker 1: organ is, into like organ transplants, so trying to find
- 16:31Speaker 1: ways to mass produce viable organs or people like him
- 16:35Speaker 1: who need organ replacements. So in his case, he needed
- 16:39Speaker 1: a new heart because of his heart disease. And if
- 16:44Speaker 1: he is not careful, the next time he has a
- 16:46Speaker 1: heart attack, that's it dead lights out right. So he
- 16:53Speaker 1: when they discovered Nemesis, he believed that there are at
- 16:56Speaker 1: least the corpse of Nemes of Nemesis prime. They he
- 17:00Speaker 1: believed that the d N that this creature's DNA may
- 17:03Speaker 1: hold the secrets to cellular regeneration and possibly uh allow
- 17:09Speaker 1: them to mass produce clones. So the idea was to
- 17:12Speaker 1: mass produce clones people who like mainly rich and wealthy
- 17:17Speaker 1: people who can afford it, mass produce these clones so
- 17:21Speaker 1: that way their organs can be harvested and used in
- 17:25Speaker 1: transplant for the people who need it. So like a
- 17:28Speaker 1: better way to get a transplant than from a clone
- 17:31Speaker 1: that from like a perfect clone of yourself, there would
- 17:33Speaker 1: be there will be zero chance of rejection, and it
- 17:36Speaker 1: was so perfectly working, you'll have a perfectly working replacement organ. Right.
- 17:41Speaker 1: So after covering up the after covering up the uh,
- 17:47Speaker 1: the discovery of this kaiju's corpse, uh, they began, uh,
- 17:52Speaker 1: they began their research in full. They mapped up, they
- 17:55Speaker 1: mapped out Nemesis' DNA, and they realized, like, well, this
- 17:59Speaker 1: DNA is on like any we've ever seen on Earth.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Its structure and its complexity, its structure is completely like
- 18:06Speaker 1: out of this world. And the DNA itself is unlike
- 18:10Speaker 1: anything found on Earth. But they figured out that. But
- 18:13Speaker 1: they of course, since it was found in the corpse
- 18:15Speaker 1: of a kaiju that's been dead for thousands of years,
- 18:19Speaker 1: it's been degraded it's not necessarily uh, it's not like
- 18:25Speaker 1: it's damaged pretty much like years of decay have damaged it.
- 18:29Speaker 1: And even though it was it was mostly preserved in
- 18:31Speaker 1: the Alaskan tundra, it's still like there's still gaps in it.
- 18:36Speaker 1: So they got this idea, why not splice it into
- 18:40Speaker 1: the DNA of human to try to test to see
- 18:42Speaker 1: if maybe this DNA, this creature's DNA could it's nominally
- 18:46Speaker 1: accelerate the growth the growth of a clone, but unlock
- 18:50Speaker 1: this the the like fill in the gaps needed for
- 18:54Speaker 1: cellular regeneration, like self self repairing cells. Right. So, after
- 19:01Speaker 1: Mago was murdered, they found they figured, well, the girl
- 19:04Speaker 1: is dead, so we can use her DNA as part
- 19:08Speaker 1: of the experiment because like, who's gonna like, what problem
- 19:12Speaker 1: is it going to cause she's there's already a dead girl, right,
- 19:15Speaker 1: And this whole operation was completely off the books after
- 19:19Speaker 1: the after Nemesis Primes corpse was discovered, General Gordon went underground.
- 19:27Speaker 1: He left, he broke ties with the US government, started
- 19:29Speaker 1: this whole project using what they describe as like the
- 19:33Speaker 1: Pentagon's blacklist like blacklist budget, which is like a budget
- 19:37Speaker 1: basically like a majority of the military budget goes like
- 19:41Speaker 1: like I was missing, I should say, but that's neither
- 19:44Speaker 1: here or there for this. That's just like the way
- 19:47Speaker 1: the story was like like written around it. But so yeah,
- 19:53Speaker 1: we'll coming we'll come back to them later getting into
- 19:56Speaker 1: the actual story. So the story fall. So the story
- 19:59Speaker 1: of Probably Nemesis follows main The main character guy named
- 20:03Speaker 1: John Hudson. So John is an agent of the of
- 20:08Speaker 1: the DHS, but he is part of a specific, a
- 20:12Speaker 1: specific branch of the DHS, which is uh, the Paranormal
- 20:17Speaker 1: Research Division. So the way that it's described in the
- 20:22Speaker 1: book is that in the wake of the nine to
- 20:24Speaker 1: eleven terrorist attacks, there was a lot of like overhaul
- 20:27Speaker 1: in the DHS, right, so like new but like a
- 20:29Speaker 1: new bigger budget was introduced, and the budget was used
- 20:33Speaker 1: for many different like DHS projects and realms of investigations.
- 20:38Speaker 1: All the intent were all of them were intended to
- 20:41Speaker 1: help increase national security, right, especially like you know, investigating
- 20:45Speaker 1: terrorism and other potential threats. And somewhere along the line
- 20:49Speaker 1: someone wrote in like a specific like a small little
- 20:53Speaker 1: charter for paranormal research like investigating cryptids and like other
- 20:59Speaker 1: potential non human threats. Right, So so the of course,
- 21:05Speaker 1: like with many like government like you know, budgets like that,
- 21:09Speaker 1: no one really read through it, and they signed it
- 21:11Speaker 1: into effect, and it's like, oh okay, cool. So now
- 21:14Speaker 1: there is a paranormal division, but it's small, it doesn't
- 21:17Speaker 1: really get as much funding, and nobody really takes it seriously,
- 21:21Speaker 1: not even John Hudson. So here's a job. He investigates,
- 21:27Speaker 1: mostly signings of sasquatch and other cryptids, and that's what
- 21:32Speaker 1: brings him here. So John was sent is investigating potential
- 21:36Speaker 1: sasquatch sidings in northern Maine, and this takes him out.
- 21:41Speaker 1: It's pretty much into like the wilderness, like the more
- 21:45Speaker 1: remote areas of Maine.
- 21:47Speaker 4: And uh.
- 21:50Speaker 1: It's there in Maine that he meets one of our
- 21:52Speaker 1: other main characters, Ashley Collins. She was a local sheriff
- 21:55Speaker 1: of Uh. She was a local county sheriff, and she
- 21:59Speaker 1: was the one who called in, who had called in
- 22:01Speaker 1: the reports of strange sightings deep in the wilderness. So
- 22:06Speaker 1: the two together, the two of them, and to go
- 22:09Speaker 1: to investigate, and they actually stumble across a They actually
- 22:14Speaker 1: stumble across a military what they assume is some form
- 22:18Speaker 1: of military operation, and the thing is is that when
- 22:22Speaker 1: they come, when they stumble across it, they do come
- 22:24Speaker 1: across some of the guards. The guards turn them away.
- 22:27Speaker 1: And uh, what led what had led them to that
- 22:31Speaker 1: facility was that the low was one of the main
- 22:34Speaker 1: locals had called it in, had called in this these
- 22:36Speaker 1: reports of Sasquatch because he had actually seen some of
- 22:40Speaker 1: the some of the military guard, some of the military
- 22:43Speaker 1: guards patrolling the area. And this took them from Sasquatch.
- 22:47Speaker 1: So Hudson and though Hudson and Collins and uh, Hudson
- 22:53Speaker 1: and Collins accidentally doomed that man, doomed that man because
- 22:57Speaker 1: they let slit the oh we a local had a
- 23:00Speaker 1: local nearby had seen you guys running around and called
- 23:02Speaker 1: in a fall like a bogus report. We'll get out
- 23:06Speaker 1: of your hair. But the thing is that this military
- 23:08Speaker 1: operation was not a military operation, and they are very secretive.
- 23:15Speaker 1: And because this mant that that local had called him in,
- 23:19Speaker 1: they sent they sent some of their guards over to
- 23:23Speaker 1: that man's house and they killed him. So when but
- 23:27Speaker 1: they sent them ahead of Hudson and Collins. So while
- 23:29Speaker 1: the two of them were heading back to uh, we're
- 23:32Speaker 1: just heading back, they come across that guy's house again,
- 23:35Speaker 1: because this is out in the wilderness, so like this,
- 23:37Speaker 1: these are houses that are like deep in the forest,
- 23:39Speaker 1: you know, their own properties and lands. And when they've
- 23:42Speaker 1: come across the dudes property again, they noticed that the
- 23:45Speaker 1: guy's dead and the very same the very same guard,
- 23:49Speaker 1: so called military guards, are now chasing them down, trying
- 23:53Speaker 1: to kill them, and Hudson and Collins managed to avoid them,
- 23:57Speaker 1: but they noticed that after a time, after some on
- 24:00Speaker 1: these military guards get are they managed to lose the
- 24:03Speaker 1: military guard, lose these let's go. I'm just gonna call
- 24:07Speaker 1: like go with mercenaries because that's pretty much what they are.
- 24:12Speaker 1: And uh, the mercenaries end up getting called off, and
- 24:17Speaker 1: Hudson and Collins, realizing they've stumbled onto something big, decide
- 24:21Speaker 1: to circle backgrounds to the complex and investigate further. And
- 24:26Speaker 1: when they arrived there, they find those guards again, but
- 24:30Speaker 1: they have been completely torn to shreds and the gate
- 24:34Speaker 1: that they came across, the gate that they came across
- 24:36Speaker 1: in the facility they see, has been demolished. So they
- 24:42Speaker 1: had already come across the they'd come across the the perimeter,
- 24:47Speaker 1: the gate, the gated perimeter. They saw the building right
- 24:50Speaker 1: all was intact when they first saw it. But then
- 24:52Speaker 1: when they got chased off and they circled back around,
- 24:54Speaker 1: everything is in ruins. And as they got a closer look,
- 24:57Speaker 1: they see that they were there are people like science,
- 25:00Speaker 1: this civil like other civilian like other civilian contractors, and
- 25:05Speaker 1: and the mercenary guards. All of them were torn to pieces.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Makes sense.
- 25:10Speaker 1: And they hear some yeah, and then they hear something
- 25:14Speaker 1: behind them, something big and growling. Oh dear, Before I
- 25:20Speaker 1: go to the big reveal, We're gonna circle back to
- 25:22Speaker 1: what what is actually going on in the facility. So
- 25:26Speaker 1: General Gordon, as I said, was he had funded a research,
- 25:33Speaker 1: like an illegal research into genetic cloning and also splicing
- 25:38Speaker 1: alien DNA with these clones. And this this DNA came
- 25:42Speaker 1: from the corpse of the kaiju discovered in Alaska. And uh,
- 25:47Speaker 1: the result they it's what they had done, is they'd
- 25:49Speaker 1: taken that alien DNA and spliced it together with the
- 25:51Speaker 1: DNA of that murdered girl, my goo, and over a
- 25:55Speaker 1: course of a matter of a few weeks, that little
- 25:59Speaker 1: embryo that they had managed to that successful embryo they created,
- 26:03Speaker 1: had grown from just a little embryo to a fully
- 26:08Speaker 1: formed person within a matter of weeks. But the more shocking,
- 26:14Speaker 1: The most shocking development was is that at first, while
- 26:17Speaker 1: the child, while the child, as it developed, it looked
- 26:20Speaker 1: human at first, but as it got older and began
- 26:22Speaker 1: to mature within the tank, they noticed that it began
- 26:25Speaker 1: to develop more grotesque features, like its hands grew into
- 26:31Speaker 1: like talent clause, it grew a freaking tail, and other
- 26:36Speaker 1: parts of its body became less human and more monstrous.
- 26:41Speaker 1: So for the most part, it looked like when it
- 26:43Speaker 1: by the time it had matured enough, they had matured enough,
- 26:47Speaker 1: it was like for the most part, it looked like
- 26:50Speaker 1: a normal young woman, but her hands and feet were
- 26:54Speaker 1: talent claws. She had a long, prehensile tail growing out
- 26:58Speaker 1: of her And while General Gordon had just brushed it
- 27:05Speaker 1: off as like, well, we feel we knew something like
- 27:09Speaker 1: this could happen, considering that we're dealing with alien DNA,
- 27:14Speaker 1: and everything else looks fine, Like it's heart is fine.
- 27:17Speaker 1: It's it's heart is functioning like it should so, and
- 27:20Speaker 1: it's for other internal as far as they can tell,
- 27:22Speaker 1: it's other internal organs are functioning and still for the
- 27:28Speaker 1: most part human like, compatible with the human so not
- 27:33Speaker 1: wanting to let this opportunity slip past them. Gordon orders
- 27:38Speaker 1: the clone to be removed from its uh, removed from
- 27:42Speaker 1: its too, from its tube, and it's it's heart harvested
- 27:48Speaker 1: for the surgery. So they harvest its heart and they
- 27:52Speaker 1: transplant it and put Gordon into into surgery, transplant the
- 27:56Speaker 1: heart into them, and the transplant is success, and he
- 28:01Speaker 1: orders the clone's body to be disposed of because at
- 28:04Speaker 1: that point it has no heart, so it should be dead, right.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Yeah, no, of course not.
- 28:11Speaker 1: It wakes up, oh dear, yep. So the lead scientists
- 28:15Speaker 1: that had created the clone, she took the body down
- 28:19Speaker 1: to their morg to the down to the morgue, and
- 28:23Speaker 1: she was working on getting it disposed but just as
- 28:25Speaker 1: she turns her back on it, it looked it gets up.
- 28:30Speaker 1: And when it gets up, its form had become less
- 28:33Speaker 1: human and had began to transform into something more alien
- 28:37Speaker 1: and more grotesque looking. If you guys want imaging like like,
- 28:42Speaker 1: if you guys want a good image like Devin will
- 28:44Speaker 1: will put up like, well, well there's no video on
- 28:47Speaker 1: this image in this right. Are you gonna do something
- 28:49Speaker 1: like a little animated sequence or just we're just doing
- 28:52Speaker 1: all audio.
- 28:53Speaker 2: I mean i'm gonna have the I'm gonna have an
- 28:55Speaker 2: image for like the thumbnail, so they'll put that image
- 28:59Speaker 2: in the thumbnail.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Just put the original like cover, Like look at product
- 29:03Speaker 1: Project Nemesis by Jeremy Robinson in that cover. Just use that.
- 29:06Speaker 1: But if you guys want a good like image, look
- 29:09Speaker 1: up the Project Nemesis comic series, because there was a
- 29:12Speaker 1: comic series that Jeremy Robinson did. The comic artist Matt
- 29:16Speaker 1: Frank did the cover and most of the part for that,
- 29:21Speaker 1: and it was a really cool comic. They never actually
- 29:23Speaker 1: got to finish it because something happened and they weren't
- 29:26Speaker 1: and the production on that comic number got finished. But
- 29:28Speaker 1: if you want a good idea of what the Clone
- 29:31Speaker 1: ends up turning into, definitely look up that comic. You'll
- 29:34Speaker 1: get some good imagery on it. But yeah, the Clone
- 29:38Speaker 1: gets up. Its body has now completely started to transform
- 29:42Speaker 1: into something more alien, it becomes less human looking, and
- 29:47Speaker 1: it goes on a complete rampage, all right, and it's
- 29:51Speaker 1: eating every living soul in that facility. So anything living,
- 29:57Speaker 1: it just devours them, rips them to pieces, and just
- 30:00Speaker 1: swallows the hole and swallows the chunks hole. And as
- 30:03Speaker 1: it's eating it's growing at an exponential rate. So by
- 30:07Speaker 1: the time Hudson and Collins stumble across the facility again,
- 30:15Speaker 1: it's already the size of an elephant. So we're talking.
- 30:22Speaker 1: It went from the size of a small of a
- 30:24Speaker 1: like an average sized adult like young woman to the
- 30:29Speaker 1: size of an elephant in a matter of hours. Jesus
- 30:35Speaker 1: and when they went So when Hudson and Collins here
- 30:38Speaker 1: that growling behind them, they turn around and they see
- 30:41Speaker 1: this bipedal creature with glowing, like glowing organs going down
- 30:47Speaker 1: its chest and stomach. All right, it has wickedly sharp teeth,
- 30:52Speaker 1: it has like hooked claws, and it has a long
- 30:56Speaker 1: prehensile tail with a trident like with a trident barb
- 30:59Speaker 1: on it, and it's ferocious and immediately starts chasing them,
- 31:06Speaker 1: trying to devour them. They managed to escape it, but
- 31:09Speaker 1: they can the only way they're able to escape it
- 31:10Speaker 1: is by running into the facility because the facility, while
- 31:13Speaker 1: it's been like really fucked up, it's still standing, and
- 31:16Speaker 1: they managed to avoid it at least temporarily, but they
- 31:19Speaker 1: end up running into Gordon and Endo. Endo was the
- 31:23Speaker 1: was the Japanese guy that sided with Gordon and help
- 31:26Speaker 1: him like cover up the Kaiju discovery. Gordon, strangely enough,
- 31:33Speaker 1: after just coming out of surgery, has already fully recovered
- 31:36Speaker 1: and is standing, and it seems it looks like the
- 31:40Speaker 1: heart itself, these alien human heart that's transplanted into his body,
- 31:45Speaker 1: has begun mutating him. So while he's still human, he's
- 31:49Speaker 1: now he now has monstrous levels of strength, strength that
- 31:54Speaker 1: he uses to throw Collins and Gordon around with, and
- 31:57Speaker 1: he's becoming more aggressive and more like, I don't want
- 32:03Speaker 1: to say analystic, but definitely more monstrous. He still retains
- 32:06Speaker 1: his higher human thoughts and functioning, but now he's like
- 32:10Speaker 1: in a more aggressive state. But the thing is is
- 32:14Speaker 1: that before Gordon and Endo can like kill and do
- 32:17Speaker 1: any more damage to Hudson and Collins nemesis, the creature
- 32:20Speaker 1: itself comes up and attacks they and they're forced to escape,
- 32:26Speaker 1: So they escape by helicopter, and Collins and Hudson are
- 32:30Speaker 1: forced to like hide, are forced to hide deep in
- 32:34Speaker 1: the basement of the facility, and that's where they discovered
- 32:37Speaker 1: all like pretty much where like the rampage itself had begun,
- 32:41Speaker 1: and they had to hide basically with all the other
- 32:46Speaker 1: dead bodies to hide their scent from Nemesis and they
- 32:49Speaker 1: only know they only figure out what to call it
- 32:54Speaker 1: fusion centers, so they can try to so they can
- 32:58Speaker 1: try to decipher it. They managed, so they managed to
- 33:01Speaker 1: hide from Nemesis and because Nemesis can't wasn't able to
- 33:05Speaker 1: send like catch their scent among all the other dead bodies,
- 33:08Speaker 1: and ends up, uh, breaking out of the facility again
- 33:11Speaker 1: and runs wild into goes running wild into the wilderness.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Hudson and Gordon Hudson, excuse me, Hudson and Collins managed
- 33:19Speaker 1: to get back to get back to civilization, and uh,
- 33:23Speaker 1: they decide they're going to try to track this thing
- 33:25Speaker 1: down while it's still small. Yeah, And as they're tracking
- 33:28Speaker 1: it through the woods, they come across a truck from
- 33:32Speaker 1: some some local kids, and they discover a group like
- 33:36Speaker 1: a pretty grotesque scene. Like they discover definitely the root,
- 33:39Speaker 1: Like they discover evidence that that Nemesis had killed one
- 33:42Speaker 1: that had killed some had killed them. There was two kids,
- 33:45Speaker 1: one of the like two teenage kids. One of them, Uh,
- 33:49Speaker 1: they clearly find the remains of his corpse, but they
- 33:52Speaker 1: find another one just standing there looking like it looked
- 33:55Speaker 1: basically looked like a statue. It was the statue was
- 34:01Speaker 1: of a young woman, and they clearly they can see
- 34:05Speaker 1: the melted remains of a gun in her hands, but
- 34:08Speaker 1: she's just standing there like frozen like she's been so
- 34:12Speaker 1: basically looking at her, she had been completely flash fried like,
- 34:17Speaker 1: meaning that whatever killed her, like whatever phenomenon had killed her,
- 34:22Speaker 1: had been with such immense amount of heat and it
- 34:26Speaker 1: had happened like like so fast that it flash fried
- 34:30Speaker 1: her and turned her into a living statue. Damn like
- 34:34Speaker 1: completely cooked her. So what had happened is is that
- 34:37Speaker 1: these two kids were falling around in the neighborhood, like
- 34:40Speaker 1: falling around the woods, and Nemesis came across them and
- 34:43Speaker 1: ate one of them. The other one who the other
- 34:46Speaker 1: one who managed to find the shotgun in the in
- 34:49Speaker 1: the truck, had turned the gun on on Nemesis on
- 34:52Speaker 1: the creature. Okay, I want to preface preferences. I'm sorry, guys.
- 34:57Speaker 1: They don't know what this is yet, they don't even
- 34:58Speaker 1: have a name for it yet, so it's still just
- 35:01Speaker 1: the creature, right, this monster. The girl had grabbed the shotgun,
- 35:07Speaker 1: turned it on the creature and fired, but when she fired,
- 35:10Speaker 1: she had hit the round hit one of the glowing
- 35:12Speaker 1: membranes on the creature's chest, and as soon as that
- 35:16Speaker 1: membrane popped, there was a violent explosive reaction. So the
- 35:23Speaker 1: reaction created a explosion of heat, of like such insanely
- 35:28Speaker 1: hot heat that when the girl was struck by the heat,
- 35:31Speaker 1: it flash cooked her and melted the gun in her hands.
- 35:36Speaker 1: So the gun was all melted, but she's still standing there.
- 35:39Speaker 1: But it cooked her so thoroughly and all the moisture
- 35:41Speaker 1: left her body. All that was left was just this
- 35:43Speaker 1: charred husk. Yeah, So Nemesis has these glowing orbs and
- 35:51Speaker 1: membranes on her all over her body, but the most
- 35:55Speaker 1: she has the densest concentration on her chest and stomach.
- 36:00Speaker 1: And the thing is about these orbs that they contain
- 36:02Speaker 1: a chemical. They contained a chemical that violently reacts to
- 36:06Speaker 1: when exposed to air, and the reaction, especially when she
- 36:10Speaker 1: is her full grown size, like full four hundred foot size,
- 36:13Speaker 1: the reaction is so violent and so explosive that it's
- 36:17Speaker 1: described as like the as like the most powerful non
- 36:21Speaker 1: nuclear explosion, and Nemesis does use it in the future,
- 36:26Speaker 1: but we'll get to that. So Hudson and Collins realized
- 36:33Speaker 1: that they realized that the direction that the creature's heading
- 36:37Speaker 1: is going to eventually take it to some other populated area,
- 36:40Speaker 1: so they quickly try to track it down. As they
- 36:44Speaker 1: do their best to try to track it down, and
- 36:46Speaker 1: they do come across another small town, but the town
- 36:49Speaker 1: is in ruins. So what it happened was is that
- 36:52Speaker 1: this town was in the middle of some sort of
- 36:54Speaker 1: like local holiday. They had like a small parade going on,
- 36:57Speaker 1: and that's when the creature attacks. It went rampaging through
- 37:01Speaker 1: the parade, eating everybody that it could get its hands on.
- 37:05Speaker 1: It's still growing and by the time Collins and Hudson
- 37:08Speaker 1: shows up, everything's in ruined. There's people are like almost
- 37:11Speaker 1: everyone in the town is dead. Because this is a
- 37:13Speaker 1: it's a tiny town. There wasn't a lot of people
- 37:15Speaker 1: to eat in the beginning in the first place, but
- 37:17Speaker 1: there was still several hundred people in that town. There
- 37:19Speaker 1: were few survivors, which they managed to get them to evacuate.
- 37:23Speaker 1: But uh, they see over in like the cat like
- 37:27Speaker 1: the town's like city hall like, there was like a
- 37:30Speaker 1: church that was in ruins, and out of the ruins,
- 37:32Speaker 1: they see an even bigger creature rising up and it
- 37:36Speaker 1: chases them down. But they managed to get away because
- 37:38Speaker 1: they were in a car. They had managed to get
- 37:40Speaker 1: into their into their vehicle and commandeer a vehicle, and
- 37:44Speaker 1: they took off down the highway. Uh Nemesis. They managed
- 37:49Speaker 1: to lose Nemesis, but damn was that bitch fast and
- 37:54Speaker 1: they managed to lose her and they get they get
- 37:57Speaker 1: They make their way further east of Maine to plan
- 38:00Speaker 1: uh down into I think they got into Plymouth. Uh.
- 38:08Speaker 1: I didn't need to study maps more because I know
- 38:13Speaker 1: where they went, but I just can't remember, like the name. Yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 1: I gotta look up a map. Yeah, they were in
- 38:24Speaker 1: main Oh they actually sorry, I'm thinking I get Portland
- 38:32Speaker 1: and Plymouth. Confused all the time. So they head further
- 38:38Speaker 1: east and they managed to reach to the outskirts of Portland.
- 38:42Speaker 1: But when they and that when they get there, John
- 38:44Speaker 1: advantaged Hudson had managed to get established connection with his
- 38:48Speaker 1: fusion center and he warns them that they've got uh,
- 38:52Speaker 1: they got the real deal. So basically the scene is
- 38:55Speaker 1: basically like the scene out of Ghostbusters when they get
- 38:58Speaker 1: their first call for real ghost sighting and their secretary
- 39:03Speaker 1: is like, we got one prests of the alarm button.
- 39:07Speaker 1: So he ends up calling in like a massive response
- 39:10Speaker 1: for US because the thing is clearly within the DHS charter.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Whenever there's a certain like major paranormal event, like Fusion
- 39:19Speaker 1: Center p gets US like now has the acting authority
- 39:25Speaker 1: to utilize national resources to establish and conduct a response,
- 39:30Speaker 1: like a defensive response against whatever paranormal event is going on.
- 39:34Speaker 1: And because Hudson had had encountered and documented a clear
- 39:38Speaker 1: case of some form of paranormal phenomenon, in this case
- 39:41Speaker 1: a massive creature that is rampaging across a US state,
- 39:46Speaker 1: killing people and eating people. All right, this clearly falls
- 39:50Speaker 1: within Fusion Center piece guid like within their purview. So
- 39:57Speaker 1: he calls in a response he now. And the problem
- 40:00Speaker 1: is that Fusion Fusion Center PE is not that far
- 40:04Speaker 1: from like the FBI and like other and other DHS
- 40:07Speaker 1: and the other DHS centers. And as soon as Hudson
- 40:11Speaker 1: calls in and organizes a response, the other Fusion the
- 40:14Speaker 1: other DHS centers actually like start stonewalling him and they
- 40:17Speaker 1: start taking over everything. And like one guy from one
- 40:21Speaker 1: of the other DHS center shows up and basically says
- 40:24Speaker 1: like he's full of shit, and Huston's like, oh am,
- 40:27Speaker 1: I am I full of shit right now here. He
- 40:30Speaker 1: pulls up a he grabs a tallet from one of
- 40:32Speaker 1: the other aid from one of the troops that he
- 40:34Speaker 1: uh that he called in, pulled up like a satellite
- 40:39Speaker 1: thermal imagery of the main countryside and shows them like
- 40:42Speaker 1: the basically shows him the path of destruction that Nemesis
- 40:45Speaker 1: had left. And he shows it to the guys like,
- 40:51Speaker 1: you see that this is a satellite image of a
- 40:53Speaker 1: town of a small town several miles from here. It's gone,
- 40:59Speaker 1: and you can send you can say, choppers to verify yourself.
- 41:01Speaker 1: And they do, and the guy starts getting confused, like,
- 41:03Speaker 1: wait a second, what's going on? This can't be but
- 41:05Speaker 1: this can't be some monster, Like this isn't like paranormal,
- 41:08Speaker 1: is it? That shit's not real? He's like, oh yeah, well,
- 41:11Speaker 1: thermal images shows it's coming up to us right now.
- 41:14Speaker 1: And they could see clearly see that there's like a
- 41:16Speaker 1: big like glowing dot heading their way. And when they
- 41:20Speaker 1: look and when they look out into the into the woods,
- 41:23Speaker 1: because they're like and they the response team had set
- 41:27Speaker 1: up on a highway just outside of like the countryside,
- 41:31Speaker 1: right and so like behind them is portland. In front
- 41:34Speaker 1: of them is the woods leading into the countryside, and
- 41:36Speaker 1: out from the woods comes an even bigger Nemesis. At
- 41:40Speaker 1: this point, Nemesis is over fifty feet tall. She's she's
- 41:45Speaker 1: gotten pretty huge, and the DHS response team freaks out
- 41:51Speaker 1: at first but immediately starts engaging her and they start
- 41:54Speaker 1: taking shots at her, but Nemesis one, Nemesis is not
- 41:59Speaker 1: really a by the small arms fire, and two in
- 42:02Speaker 1: her response, she lets out of really massive, high pitch
- 42:06Speaker 1: howl at them, and like it's such a like high
- 42:09Speaker 1: screeching sound that it drops everyone because of the just
- 42:12Speaker 1: because of how like harsh and like just it's like
- 42:16Speaker 1: you know, like some creatures have like a use a
- 42:18Speaker 1: specific sound to like DEI like deter predators. Well, she
- 42:24Speaker 1: just does that. She basically screams at them. They all
- 42:27Speaker 1: drop in confusion and like pain. She runs past them,
- 42:30Speaker 1: gobbling up a couple of guys in the process, and
- 42:33Speaker 1: she escapes into the Portland Harbor. So after this, now
- 42:40Speaker 1: the DHS has confirmed video evidence of a massive monster
- 42:45Speaker 1: that had just rampaged across the US and now the
- 42:49Speaker 1: response is okay, well looks like so it looks like
- 42:53Speaker 1: the gut those cookes from Fusion Center p were actually
- 42:56Speaker 1: not cookes at all. And we got a real paranormal
- 42:59Speaker 1: situation on our hand.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Yeah, we got a whole fie like we got an
- 43:05Speaker 3: Ugiti spooky causing a fucking wukie not spooky. Yeah, you're
- 43:13Speaker 3: not wrong though, yep.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Huh yeah. So Hudson and now Collins, who has has
- 43:23Speaker 1: decided to join them on there, uh joined them because
- 43:26Speaker 1: since this is it may now it may no longer
- 43:28Speaker 1: be a part of like with like in her jurisdiction
- 43:31Speaker 1: because they're outside of her county. Now, she decides like, no,
- 43:34Speaker 1: I'm not going anywhere all right. That thing killed people
- 43:38Speaker 1: the government, and the government tried to cover it up, period.
- 43:41Speaker 1: I want to know what's going on, so so they
- 43:45Speaker 1: so he basically deputies her and takes her back to
- 43:49Speaker 1: the Fusion Center Pee, which is set which is sitting
- 43:51Speaker 1: in a basically an old colony, which is like set
- 43:54Speaker 1: up in an old colonial house outside of Boston. And uh,
- 44:01Speaker 1: when they're there, they when they get to the Fusion Center,
- 44:03Speaker 1: really the Fusion Center only has like three other people.
- 44:06Speaker 1: They're a pilot guy named Woodstock and uh there I
- 44:13Speaker 1: forgot their names.
- 44:14Speaker 6: Hold on, okay, Yeah, so pretty much the Fusion Center
- 44:42Speaker 6: has just a small team and pretty much is just
- 44:45Speaker 6: like one guy, one I T guy, and one secretary.
- 44:48Speaker 1: Like she's the one that handles like the like more
- 44:51Speaker 1: bureaucratic side of things. She signs the paperwork, like if
- 44:55Speaker 1: Hudson needs something done, she'll get it done. And then
- 44:57Speaker 1: and then the I T. Guy. He's just basically the
- 45:00Speaker 1: man in the chair. He's the one that monitors the
- 45:02Speaker 1: DHS channels, the one who sends out like basically pulls
- 45:05Speaker 1: up mission logs and reports and can give him like
- 45:08Speaker 1: situation like the community. He coordinates with the with the
- 45:13Speaker 1: rest of the He's the one that basically coordinates with
- 45:15Speaker 1: the rest of the DHS from like in terms of
- 45:17Speaker 1: like the digital side, like satellite imagery, like doing research
- 45:21Speaker 1: on like certain cases. And when they get back to
- 45:23Speaker 1: the Fusion Center, he pulls up the report that he
- 45:26Speaker 1: he pulls up the translation of that text that they
- 45:29Speaker 1: saw written in blood, and pretty much he tells them
- 45:32Speaker 1: that the text for the most part, the text is
- 45:35Speaker 1: an ancient Greek prayer for a specific goddess of vengeance,
- 45:43Speaker 1: of course, and the big word in the the one
- 45:46Speaker 1: word that was written in bold at the top of
- 45:50Speaker 1: the prayer is U is the name of that said
- 45:53Speaker 1: goddess of vengeance, and that goddess is Nemesis. So now
- 45:58Speaker 1: they know that this creature is somehow related to an
- 46:02Speaker 1: ancient like to an ancient Greek deity of vengeance, and
- 46:05Speaker 1: they do more research and while like well for the
- 46:09Speaker 1: most part, like Nemesis is described as like this, like
- 46:13Speaker 1: as like this, the feminine figure that is responsible for
- 46:19Speaker 1: like people would pray for if they out of vengeance,
- 46:22Speaker 1: if they wanted vengeance on their enemies, they would pray
- 46:25Speaker 1: to Nemesis. But as they do a bit of a
- 46:27Speaker 1: deep dive, like the earliest records of Nemesis describes this
- 46:31Speaker 1: monstrous figure that that would seek out the sinners of
- 46:36Speaker 1: the world, people who have pretty much the people who
- 46:39Speaker 1: have done the worst, who've committed the worst crimes like murder, rape, pillaging,
- 46:46Speaker 1: things like that, and she and she was like this
- 46:49Speaker 1: ventraful figure that would destroy entire civilizations just to just
- 46:55Speaker 1: to purge the world of sinners. So, with nothing better
- 46:58Speaker 1: to go off of and what little information they could
- 47:02Speaker 1: have gotten from that, uh, from that black site organization,
- 47:07Speaker 1: they decide, all right, well, the creature's name is Nemesis,
- 47:09Speaker 1: and we need to figure they need to figure out
- 47:11Speaker 1: a way to prepare the country for the response. And
- 47:18Speaker 1: the thing is that they did manage to get like
- 47:20Speaker 1: some pull up some like seal some files from the
- 47:24Speaker 1: from that black site organization, and they learned that somehow
- 47:28Speaker 1: they learned that the creature was created from the clone
- 47:31Speaker 1: of a deceased girl Migo and some other and some
- 47:35Speaker 1: and news it was created with the DNA of an
- 47:37Speaker 1: alien creature that they have no idea where like this
- 47:40Speaker 1: alien creature comes from. They don't have any more information
- 47:42Speaker 1: about it.
- 47:43Speaker 5: Uh.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Hudson decides to to like do some more research into
- 47:46Speaker 1: the death of mygo like the person she was the
- 47:49Speaker 1: creature was clone from, learns about how like to the public.
- 47:53Speaker 1: He sees the official the official like criminal report about
- 47:56Speaker 1: how she was a little girl that was murdered by
- 47:58Speaker 1: her mother. But there was some there were some inconsistencies
- 48:01Speaker 1: with the report because it seemed like the the that
- 48:05Speaker 1: very clearly what was tying back to the father. And
- 48:09Speaker 1: he had an idea that it's quite possible that the
- 48:12Speaker 1: father was the was the real murderer, but he doesn't
- 48:16Speaker 1: he doesn't have time to worry about that because because
- 48:19Speaker 1: eventually Nemesis herself pops up again, but this time because
- 48:24Speaker 1: she had because she had gone into the ocean, she
- 48:28Speaker 1: had started feeding on bigger animals in the ocean, like fish, sharks,
- 48:34Speaker 1: small wells. Eventually starts eating bigger whales, until finally she
- 48:37Speaker 1: emerges from the water at her full size of like
- 48:40Speaker 1: four hundred feet. Her hook like more human like features
- 48:44Speaker 1: are completely gone. She looks more like monstrous. She has
- 48:48Speaker 1: these sharp sickle like spikes going down her back, and
- 48:53Speaker 1: then she has her like long prehensible trident tail, and
- 48:58Speaker 1: her hooked clawed hands have now like fused together into
- 49:02Speaker 1: more like bladed hands, so like she has like four
- 49:06Speaker 1: like like three or four like sci felike clause. So
- 49:10Speaker 1: they're not really like made for like gripping, but they're
- 49:13Speaker 1: definitely it's clear that they're made for like slicing through shit.
- 49:16Speaker 1: And Nemesis goes on a rampage through Boston, so she's attacking,
- 49:23Speaker 1: and she makes her way to a small part of
- 49:25Speaker 1: the downtown Boston area. And while so while the military
- 49:30Speaker 1: begins their response and starts attacking Nemesis. At some point,
- 49:34Speaker 1: Nemesis uses her clause and stabs her claws into her
- 49:40Speaker 1: membrane and rips them out. Oh, and this causes a
- 49:46Speaker 1: massive explosion that wipes out a good chunk of the
- 49:49Speaker 1: downtown Boston area and also destroys a good chunk of
- 49:53Speaker 1: the military response. John while observing her, notices observing her movement.
- 50:00Speaker 1: So he notices that she seems to be focused in
- 50:02Speaker 1: one small area of the downtown of that downtown Boston area,
- 50:05Speaker 1: and it's mainly like business condos and penthouses, all these
- 50:10Speaker 1: kind of things, And he refers, he thinks back to
- 50:13Speaker 1: the report to the what he knows about the clone
- 50:18Speaker 1: of Migo, and he realizes that it's possible that like
- 50:22Speaker 1: like there's like something's there's something that's adding up and
- 50:25Speaker 1: not adding up, Like why is Nemesis focusing on this
- 50:29Speaker 1: small part of the city, Like what it looks It
- 50:31Speaker 1: looks like she's looking for something. And then he realizes
- 50:34Speaker 1: he looks back to like the research they did on
- 50:36Speaker 1: Nemesis herself, and then also the criminal reports about the
- 50:40Speaker 1: girl that was murdered about Migo. He realizes that Nemesis,
- 50:46Speaker 1: it's quite realistically possible that Nemesis is being drawn is
- 50:50Speaker 1: literally seeking out a sinner, someone who is committed a
- 50:55Speaker 1: heinous crime. But because of her because of her human DNA,
- 51:01Speaker 1: which for the most part has already been like overtaken
- 51:05Speaker 1: by the Nemesis DNA. It's still being influenced by the
- 51:10Speaker 1: genetic memories of this of this little girl. A right,
- 51:15Speaker 1: this little girl was murdered by her father, and Nemesis
- 51:18Speaker 1: is being driven by those human emotions to find her
- 51:22Speaker 1: murderous father. Thinking and now that he has a working theory,
- 51:27Speaker 1: John uh John Hudson goes into the downtown area, Fine
- 51:33Speaker 1: goes to the penthouse that he knows that her father,
- 51:36Speaker 1: that her mom MHM. And when he Nemesis sees Hudson first,
- 51:41Speaker 1: and then Hudson steps out of the way, and there
- 51:44Speaker 1: is Migo's father, and he'd caught Miao's father while he
- 51:48Speaker 1: was still in his boxers. So like the dude is
- 51:50Speaker 1: practically naked on this on this rooftop, and Nemesis locks
- 51:56Speaker 1: in on that one man and like she lets out
- 52:00Speaker 1: a massive cride sounds this oddly sounds human like, and
- 52:05Speaker 1: like it's full of rage and pain, and Nemesis begins
- 52:11Speaker 1: to transform herself. So Nemesis is covered in this very
- 52:16Speaker 1: like this dark hard light like very hard carapas. It's
- 52:20Speaker 1: flexible but it's virtually unbreakable. But during the attack when
- 52:24Speaker 1: the when the US military attacks her, they started noticing
- 52:28Speaker 1: that their cracks appearing on the carapas. As it aboats damage,
- 52:32Speaker 1: it begins to become more rigid and it starts to
- 52:33Speaker 1: flake off, and she Nemesis begins to shed the carapas,
- 52:38Speaker 1: revealing a pure white like like it's just this pure white,
- 52:44Speaker 1: softer like skin and like basically her true body right
- 52:50Speaker 1: and from her from her back, these large winglike appendages
- 52:54Speaker 1: spread out after the carapis is completely shed, and uh,
- 52:59Speaker 1: these wings like have like these large reflective scale like
- 53:04Speaker 1: feathers on them, and they're kind of like they're not
- 53:07Speaker 1: only reflective but also semi transparent. So like, she has
- 53:11Speaker 1: like four wings that spread out, and she kind of
- 53:13Speaker 1: like Nemesis, spreads them and angles them in a certain way,
- 53:17Speaker 1: and as the sun hits her back, the the light
- 53:21Speaker 1: that gets refracted through the scales begins to focus until
- 53:25Speaker 1: they're all like all of these like fractal light light
- 53:29Speaker 1: points get focused right on Migo's father and completely incinerates
- 53:35Speaker 1: them and the and the light. This basically she creates
- 53:40Speaker 1: a solar beam yeah of using her using her reflective
- 53:44Speaker 1: wings to create like a solar beam, completely incinerates Migo's father,
- 53:49Speaker 1: cutting through the pen the penthouse, almost killing Hudson in
- 53:52Speaker 1: the process. And after that, Nemesis, like after killing uh
- 54:00Speaker 1: Migo's father, Nemesis turns and runs back into the ocean.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Now the military continues to hit her with everything they got,
- 54:08Speaker 1: but even in her more vulnerable form, it doesn't do
- 54:10Speaker 1: as much damage as they would like, but still it
- 54:14Speaker 1: drives her off and she goes into the ocean. Yeah,
- 54:20Speaker 1: the end of this is like we're pretty much at
- 54:21Speaker 1: the end of the book. At this point, Nemesis has
- 54:24Speaker 1: gone into the ocean, and now Hudson has to focus on. Now,
- 54:30Speaker 1: Hudson is focusing on investigating Nemesis further and the organization
- 54:36Speaker 1: that created her, and now the DHS and the and
- 54:40Speaker 1: the Pentagon are are funneling more and more money into
- 54:44Speaker 1: the into the Fusion, into the his Fusion Center to
- 54:47Speaker 1: expand the paranormal division because now, well, ship like this
- 54:52Speaker 1: is they could prove shit like this exists. And uh
- 54:57Speaker 1: So the book kind of ends on a bit of
- 54:59Speaker 1: a funny note because like a lot of like a
- 55:01Speaker 1: lot of Jeremy Robinson's books has like a little bit
- 55:04Speaker 1: of humor in it. Like, yeah, there's like some there's thrillers,
- 55:06Speaker 1: there's like horrific scenes, but there's also a little bit
- 55:09Speaker 1: of like there's a little bit of humor in it too.
- 55:12Speaker 1: And like now that so Hudson is like aside from investigating,
- 55:16Speaker 1: like continue his investigation into Nemesis, he's also still responding
- 55:19Speaker 1: to other cryptics like paranormal sightings. And at the end
- 55:23Speaker 1: of the book, they go on and they going to
- 55:25Speaker 1: investigate like potential sasquatch report up in uh, like out
- 55:33Speaker 1: in the Midwest, and they actually find sasquatch. They actually
- 55:36Speaker 1: find him, but they just mark They just basically they
- 55:40Speaker 1: just tag him and they're like, all right, we're just
- 55:41Speaker 1: gonna leave him alone. We know he's there, but we're
- 55:44Speaker 1: not gonna like bring too much attention to him because
- 55:46Speaker 1: then you know, all the kooks were gonna come out. Yeah,
- 55:51Speaker 1: but that's pretty much the end of the book. So
- 55:54Speaker 1: like initially Robinson did not leave did not really write
- 55:59Speaker 1: this book to with the intention like he was planning
- 56:03Speaker 1: on like expanding into Nemesis further, but he definitely read
- 56:06Speaker 1: it in a way that like it leaves it open ended.
- 56:08Speaker 1: So like it could definitely end right here and never
- 56:11Speaker 1: happen he never continues the series or like or he
- 56:15Speaker 1: could come back and completely like like continue the story
- 56:19Speaker 1: and he and he does. So there are there are
- 56:24Speaker 1: six books. There are six books in these series. You're
- 56:28Speaker 1: forgetting some on the seven thirty one.
- 56:31Speaker 2: No, that's kind of on seven thirty one, there's zero. Well,
- 56:34Speaker 2: Island seven thy one is technically zero, yes, but the
- 56:38Speaker 2: total six whatever, six books, yes, But like.
- 56:45Speaker 1: In the Nemesisaga, there's actually more books that go into
- 56:47Speaker 1: the greater story because after this book, like as the
- 56:51Speaker 1: story goes further and further down, it actually ties in
- 56:54Speaker 1: not only to other stories within like this one universe,
- 56:58Speaker 1: but other stories throughout the Robinson verse. All right, So
- 57:04Speaker 1: there's actually a prequel to this book. It's called Island
- 57:07Speaker 1: seven thirty one. So, as I said before, he like
- 57:10Speaker 1: he writes a lot of books based off of like
- 57:12Speaker 1: either conspiracy theories like retelling, like old myths, cryptids like
- 57:18Speaker 1: urban legends, things like that. What like he wrote, he wrote,
- 57:22Speaker 1: like he wrote a book called Island seven thirty one.
- 57:28Speaker 1: Island seven thirty one is based around a Japanese a
- 57:33Speaker 1: Japanese biochemical research division.
- 57:37Speaker 4: That is.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Yes, Oh my god. So for those of you who
- 57:42Speaker 1: don't know, back in World War two, the Japan YEP,
- 57:46Speaker 1: the Japanese had a biochemical research division called Unit seven
- 57:50Speaker 1: thirty one. They were the Japanese equivalent of the SS. Right.
- 57:55Speaker 1: They conducted horrific chemical and biological experiments on people, mainly
- 58:01Speaker 1: the Chinese people, because Japan had expanded into China and
- 58:04Speaker 1: parts of Southeast other parts of Southeast Asia, and there
- 58:08Speaker 1: the people that they had essentially conquered, they begun to
- 58:13Speaker 1: they began to do horrific experiments on them, uh, testing
- 58:17Speaker 1: things like chemicals on them, uh, other biological agents like
- 58:23Speaker 1: like certain like flesh eating bacteria viruses. They even there
- 58:27Speaker 1: were even rumors that they conducted what was considered chimera
- 58:30Speaker 1: experiments where they were taking like where they would cut
- 58:34Speaker 1: appendages from certain from like start like they would cut
- 58:37Speaker 1: off limbs from other uh, from other experiments and graph
- 58:42Speaker 1: them onto other living experiments. Because and like after the war,
- 58:47Speaker 1: like when as we were cleaning up their mess, we
- 58:50Speaker 1: discovered there were rumors that we discovered graveyards, like mass
- 58:53Speaker 1: graveyards of these experiments, and you can see and we
- 58:56Speaker 1: were finding bodies of just like mangled and just grotesque
- 59:01Speaker 1: in like people looked like they were like like they
- 59:05Speaker 1: had extra limbs grafted off to them, and other things
- 59:08Speaker 1: that were like other like horrific experiments were conducted on them.
- 59:12Speaker 1: So Island seven thirty one like takes place like in
- 59:15Speaker 1: the modern day, like at like like decades after World
- 59:19Speaker 1: War Two, and the island itself was believed to have
- 59:22Speaker 1: been like an island where they conducted some of their
- 59:24Speaker 1: more like advanced chimera experiments. So that book directly ties
- 59:30Speaker 1: into Project Nemesis. For like the later Project Nemesis books,
- 59:33Speaker 1: like some of the main characters from Island seven thirty
- 59:36Speaker 1: one come will make an appearance in Actually in the
- 59:38Speaker 1: next book, the sequel to Project Nemesis is called Project Mago,
- 59:44Speaker 1: so it explores more of Mago's background, the girl that
- 59:47Speaker 1: was cloned, the girl that was cloned, that was they
- 59:51Speaker 1: cloned Nemesis from, yeah, and also like explores a bit
- 59:57Speaker 1: more of the story of Island seven thirty one. So
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: some of the character main characters that came from Island
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: seven thirty one are going to appear in Project Mago.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: And then there are other novels that will eventually tie
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: into the story of Project of the Project's Nemesis series,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: there's there's a book called Second World, so that is
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: another Robinson novel. That one is more of a standalone,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: but in the later books, Second World is going to
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: tie into a bit to Project Nemesis, because the thing
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: is Second World actually takes place in a separate universe.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: But their thing is is that the Nazis works like
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: in that one, the Nazis. It's basically like a scenario
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: like from The Winter Soldier, where like even though the
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Nazis were defeated, they actually went underground and infiltrated our
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: society through Project paper Clip. Because a lot of people
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: know about Project paper Clip, US government pardoned dozens of
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: Nazi former Nazi signcientists in exchange for them sharing their
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: like their research with us. Right.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: They they did the same thing for Units seven thirty
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: one as.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: Well, yep, Unit seven thirty one, And then in Second
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: World it explores that more except not from like seven
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: thirty one, but from the SS Like basically, the Nazis
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: that were brought over in Projects seven thirty one, they
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: infiltrated our government. They continued with they continued with sharing
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: not only sharing their their research, but their Nazi ideology.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: They built up a whole secret society and then eventually
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: like once they gained enough power, they committed like a
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: massive like government takeover and start like and they unleashed
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: a super weapon based off of one of like based
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: off of a Nazi super weapon that was rumored that
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: they were being that they were trying to develop. This
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: superweapon was called Diaglock, So Diglock, like if you look
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: it up, it was like it wasn't really so much
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: as supposed to be a super weapon, but like an
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: experiment into like uh, discovering other methods of like anti
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: gravitational flight, So it was meant to have been like
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: some form of electromagnetic or anti gravity, but it was
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: also there was also like supposedly applications into like some
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: form of like super weapon. So di Block is like
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: really like the main focus of Second World. And that's
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: how like the Nazis like like a were able to
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: like re emerge and start like attacking and trying to
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: overthrow like made like different major governments, especially the the
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: US government, because they had gotten really embedded deep into
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: the US government in that story. So that will eventually
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: like tie in that will later tie into the Nemesis Saga,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: and then there was a few others, like there's a
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: few other stories. There's like though most of these stories
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: don't actually tie into this Nemesis saga, And so like
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: the later books Project Maigo, We're actually going to start
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: seeing another series tie into it, and that is called
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Raising the Past. Another book called Raising the Pass. Raising
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: the Past was about the discovery of alien artifacts on
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: Earth and it turns out these aliens call it who
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: are called the Eros, they were the ones that sent
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Nemesis to Earth. And Raising the Past it introduces the
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Eros and also another advers another alien race called the Ferrous,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: and these two aliens have been at war with each
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: other for millions of years, and Raising the Past is
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: basically like Earth is getting caught up between their conflict.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: They're like near endless conflict. The character that the character
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: or characters that ended up tying into Nemesis Saga were
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: so minor that I was like, Eh, I've already like
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: like already like fell deep into this rabbit hole. I
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: don't think I want to go any deeper.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: Yeah. The only yeah, the books that are outside of
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: sharing characters are actually that are part part of the
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: Nemesis Saga. You got where we see.
- 1:04:18Speaker 7: The list Island Set seventy one, Project Nemesis, Project mang My,
- 1:04:26Speaker 7: Project seven thirty one, Project Hyperion, and Project Legion.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: So those are the main books in the Netssis Saga.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Then the Iron books are Raising the Past. Yeah, Second World. Uh,
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: there's one book that got written and rewritten. But there
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: was one book that like had was written under a
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: certain name, but then it got renamed. It's called Zombie,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: but it's like spelled it's spelled like X and then
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: mob like XM and B then hyphen b so or
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: x O M and then hyphen b Zombie, but then
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: it get it got renamed to Uprising. That one's about
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: like it's kind of like basically a terminator where like
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: like Robot Uprising. And then there's another one called Mirror
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: World about a character who gains the ability to uh
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: see into a mirror dimension filled with these grotenus creatures
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: that are the source of human fear. So there's them.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: There's a then another series it's more of like a
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: soft time mainly because of the characters that eventually come
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: into the into the Nemesissauga and that's the Jack Siegler series,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: so like, uh, the this is more of like a
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: Jack Siegler is kind of like based off of the
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: Jack Reacher series, but it's like about a group of
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: Army rangers who are who are tasked with taking care
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: of like certain like world ending uh like taking on
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: certain world ending missions or so like they have to
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: prevent like bad scientists from discovering the secrets of immortality,
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: from resurrecting features like the hydra, dealing with an ancient
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: mythological feature, figures like hercules, you know, rediscovering an ancient
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: language that allows you to literally control the fabric of reality.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: All this shit, right, And then there's another series called
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: the ant called Antarctos Rising, so that one's like a
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: whole separate series. Like the main character of that series
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: eventually shows up in the Nemesis Saga. Like I read
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: all of these, like most of not all these books.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: There was one character that was introduced who had like
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: a special watch that let him time travel. I didn't
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: read that one because I kind of read up a
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: like just a little bit of a like a summary
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: on that book, and I was like time travel. The
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: main character is trying to prevent his wife from being killed,
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: but you know, keeps failing, creating a time loop and shit,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: and I'm like, eh, no, I you've I've already. I've
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: watched Time Machine. It's like time travel movies like that
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: don't really I don't. I don't funk with time travel
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: movies like that or books like that, because time travel,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: especially like when you're stuck in a time loop where
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: you're repeating certain events, it's just like I get bored
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: of it really fast. So and then not to say
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: I'm not saying don't read them, I'm saying like this personally,
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: I didn't read them. But a lot of these books
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: I did read, and uh, they were interesting, so they're
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: some of them can be pretty campy. Uh, Like Second
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: World had a sequel called Nazi Hunter, and it was
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: like one of the it was a it was centered
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: around it, like a wacky side character from from Second World.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: He's like a dude from the Czech Republic. But he
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: was like a huge fanboy of American cowboy culture, so
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: he dresses himself up like a cowboy. Like, Okay, this
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: dude is kind of dumb, but it's kind of campy.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: But there's but that also that book tied into the
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: Nemesissauga a lot more than Second World did. But Second
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: World like set the premise for like certain for like
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: certain characters in certain parts of the story that eventually
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: led into the Nemesissaga. So there's a lot that goes
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: into the Nemesis Saga. It it does officially end with
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: Project Legion, but Jeremy Robinson actually went back and wrote
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: a standalone novel called Nemesis, So it's with the same monster,
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: it's Nemesis herself, but it's from like a like a
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: basically a retelling where like Nemesis does get resurrected through cloning,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: but it's not through like cloning from like cloning my go.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: But still it's it's a separate story still somewhat kind
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: of runs along the same idea as Project Nemesis, but
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: it's just like a different story, a different retelling, and
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: it introduces like new monsters that were actually really cool.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: But that was Project Nemesis. We may end up reviewing
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: some of those other side novels for the that tie
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: into Nemesis Saga, but for now we're just going to
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: focus on the main Nemesis books. So we did Project
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: Nemesis first, but we may come back and read review
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: Island seven thirty one. I think we'll either do that
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: before we reviewed Project Maigo or at the very least
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: Project seven thirty one. I think it would be best
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: if we did we did it before Project seven thirty
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: one because in Project seven thirty one, it introduces these
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: monsters that actually appeared in Island seven thirty one. So
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: if you want to like understand what like where these
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: creatures come from, we would definitely review Island seven thirty
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: one first, but that's gonna come later. I personally loved
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: I love Project Nemesis. It was like it was one
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: of the very first like Kaijun I've read that I read,
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: because it was like there's not that many Kaiju novels
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: out there, like before Project Nemesis, like the only other
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: Kaiju novel I had read at the time was this
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: book was old book written by Mark Sarasini called Godzilla
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: two thousand. Like this is how old the book is,
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: Like it's so old that the one the copy I
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: managed to get ahold of it was paperback. It's falling apart,
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: and like there's I'm sad to say that parts of
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: it got like torn and they're frying. And I've only
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: read this book once and it was a good book,
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: really good book. The I'm gonna be honest with you,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure the who's the director of God's Looking
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: at the Monsters the Monster Verse movie? It was Matt Doherty, Right, Yes,
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure he read this book because when I
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: read I read this book like over ten years ago,
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: and and then I watched Gods the Looking at the
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Monsters and I was like, wait, the premise of this.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Of those two stories are very simp of these two
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: are similar because just like in God's The Looking of
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: the Monsters, in this book Godzilla, this is like based
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: off of the Haysaver version of Godzilla. Godzilla fights Kingidora,
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: but Authros in it, Wrotdan is in it, Kama Curis
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: is in it. And for those of you who don't know,
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: Kama Curis is a giant praying mantis kaiju that Godzilla
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: fought like a long time ago. Wasn't really that big
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: de graade of a monster, but he still appears in
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: this Varon appears in it, which is another to host
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: called Monster and it also introduces like certain mechs like
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: special fighter mechs that they used to fight Godzilla and
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: fight some of the other Kaiju. Reading this book and
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: then watching King of the Monsters, I'm like, you know,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: the premise is very similar, like monsters start like rising
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: up all over the world. Kingidora is a big bad guy.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: Mathra comes helps Godzilla fight Kingidora, and rot Dad makes
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: an appearance too, although Rodad doesn't really like fight or
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: doesn't he doesn't really like going in none of the fight.
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: It's just mostly Godzilla and Kingidora. But it was very
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: This was like a like this was a fix for me,
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: and I'm glad that my brother actually found this book
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: in a used bookstore and got it for me. There's
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: actually more books in this same series, and uh, while
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: before we started the recording, I was looking I was
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: looking them up because I've forgot about this book, and
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: I realized like, oh, hey, I have this book, and
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: I thought like, huh, let me see if there's a look.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: So we were talking about like some other Kaiju novels
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: that I could have read, or like how hard it
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: is to find other like novels or like in the
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: Kaiju genre, and the list that you like Devin had
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: sent me a list on Goodreads like with like over
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: fifty different like Creature Feature and Kaiju novels, and one
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: of them was this one, and there were others by
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: the same by the same author, and I was like, wait,
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: he wrote other Godsla books like this, So I looked
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: them up and I found three of them on Amazon,
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: and uh, I just got my text return and just
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: before recording I ordered them. Yeah, because they're being sold.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: They're being sold by a used book company on there
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: by a used bookstore. I don't know where the bookstore is,
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: but it's on but they had the these, they had
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: the other three books in this series, like they were
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: selling them all together for like one hundred bucks. And
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: I was like at a cart at to Cark because
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: like I was thininking, like, well, maybe I can find
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: these on ebooks, right, Nope, Sarah Scene has not has
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: not like Kindle and iTunes has not. Gotten those are
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: the two platforms I read ebooks on. They do not
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: have the cop the license to have these, and I
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: don't know if they have any of these anywhere, but
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: I got them. So, like, if you were look hoping
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: to find these books too late, so it's gonna be
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: like another week before I get them in uh in
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: the mail hopefully, like I really hope they like do
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: come in because they were still listed on Amazon and
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: said there was like they were there was only one
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: like left in stock, right, so it's a bundle of
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: all three books. So I'm like, that's a grect. That's
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: a great.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: But okay, but thank you all for listening. Today's episode
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: on Project Emphis catches next time as we continue on
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: them on this for the next couple of weeks, it's
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: gonna be and then Mississauga and then two weeks before June,
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: I'm going to do some episodes and then of course yeah,
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: gay June. So my catch is the next week as
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: we're doing it's gonna be, it's gonna be May Island
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: seven thirty one next week. Right, you said you want
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: to do that one before Project.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: Yeah, we can do that before Project Mago because some
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: of the character characters from Project from Island seven thirty
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: one appear in Project Mago.
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: Well yeah, well Ireland seven thirty one is considered the
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: prequel to Yeah.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: We technically should have done that, but I decided to
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: do Well, it was.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: Released after Project Nemesis, so it makes sense to do
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: it that way.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: Yeah, we're doing in this case, we're doing it not
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: in like sequence of like the actual story, but like
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: probably order yeah, yeah, release order. Project Nemesis came first,
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: It turned out to be more popular. It turned out
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: to be popular, so he expanded a bit more. Came
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: up with Island seventy seven thirty one, Project Mago, Island
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: seven thirty Project seven thirty one, and then I'm sorry
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: I said Project seven thirty one twice, so Island seven
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: thirty one, Project Mago, Project seventy thirty one, Project Computer,
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: and then Project Legion. And I actually, like I have
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: all of those books on ebooks, but the very last
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: book I decided I wanted to a physical copy, so
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: I got Project Legion in a paperback format. Look at
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: that cover. Look at that like, guy, you can't see it.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: But we're gonna release the when we post the episode,
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: the actual book cover will be the for each novel,
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: be the thumbnail, so like when we get Project Legion,
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: eventually you'll see the cover. But yeah, I have to say,
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: I really I have to thank Jeremy Robinson for feeding
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: into my Kaiju, my Kaiju obsession, because.
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: Scream anyway, well way, demon.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: Again.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: Now she's just she's been screaming for the last like
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: fifteen minutes. Leave stop your screaming. You've been fed demon
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: You've been fed demon spawn. Anyway, the girl for listening
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: to hiss absercussion. Next time as we talk about Ireland
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: seven thirty one. Until then, Bye,
