- 0:01Speaker 1: What did you do to Stoney Blair that makes you
- 0:03Speaker 1: guilty of premeditated murder?
- 0:06Speaker 2: I intentionally f * * * ed her. I mean,
- 0:08Speaker 2: I punched her. I have put a bag over her
- 0:11Speaker 2: head till she lost consciousness. I threw hot water on her,
- 0:18Speaker 2: scalding hot water from the faucet. I don't care what
- 0:22Speaker 2: anybody thinks.
- 0:23Speaker 3: She had to f * * * ing.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Go, period.
- 0:27Speaker 4: This is 35-year-old Michelle Blair. From the hatred and cruelty
- 0:31Speaker 4: in her voice, you'd think she was talking about a monster.
- 0:34Speaker 4: In reality, the person that she has absolutely no remorse
- 0:38Speaker 4: about killing is her daughter, 13-year-old Stoney Blair. Not only
- 0:44Speaker 4: did she murder an innocent child who trusted and relied
- 0:48Speaker 4: on her, but she tortured her for years on end.
- 0:52Speaker 4: And tragically, Stoney wasn't the only victim of this mother
- 0:56Speaker 4: of four.
- 0:57Speaker 5: Everybody want to know? Yes, I did kill her!
- 1:01Speaker 1: After all is said and done, you imposed the death
- 1:04Speaker 1: penalty on your own children. I did.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Where in your house are they?
- 1:10Speaker 5: Freezer.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Who put them in there?
- 1:11Speaker 5: I did.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Why did you take the decision to pile the bodies
- 1:16Speaker 4: on top of each other in a freezer? What do
- 1:18Speaker 4: you mean? Why did you do that?
- 1:22Speaker 2: I only had one deep freezer. We didn't take the
- 1:24Speaker 2: decision to pile the bodies on top of each other.
- 1:27Speaker 4: Teenager Gabby Blair had no idea that nice mothers existed.
- 1:31Speaker 4: For most of her childhood, she believed that all parents
- 1:33Speaker 4: put on a facade. In public, they'd be polite, charming, funny.
- 1:38Speaker 4: In the comfort of their own home, they'd be angry, critical,
- 1:42Speaker 4: and violent. She had never seen any other kind of parenting.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Every time she saw her mother interact with friends, family,
- 1:48Speaker 4: or the public, she was polite, accommodating, and kind. Her
- 1:53Speaker 4: Facebook was peppered with photos and posts declaring how much
- 1:56Speaker 4: she loved her kids. To the outside world, She was
- 1:59Speaker 4: a loving, single mother of four young children. But behind
- 2:03Speaker 4: closed doors, she was a ticking time bomb, ready to
- 2:06Speaker 4: explode at any moment. Love wasn't something she seemed to
- 2:10Speaker 4: know how to show. The only affection she ever showed
- 2:13Speaker 4: her kids was an occasional kiss on the forehead before bed.
- 2:16Speaker 4: There were no hugs, no congratulations, no praise, no comfort.
- 2:22Speaker 4: The only time Gabby remembers her mom cheering for her
- 2:25Speaker 4: kids was when she hit 13-year-old Stoney in the head
- 2:28Speaker 4: with a 2x4 and exclaimed, woo, look at that, at
- 2:31Speaker 4: the b * * * * gushing from the open
- 2:33Speaker 4: wound the impact gave her. To the outside world, Michelle
- 2:37Speaker 4: Blair was a mother. Inside her home, she was a warden.
- 2:42Speaker 4: And to this day, she shows absolutely no regret for that.
- 2:47Speaker 5: You meant to kill her.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I definitely meant to kill her. And I do not
- 2:51Speaker 2: feel any remorse for what I did to Stoney.
- 2:55Speaker 4: What we know about Michelle Blair's childhood is minuscule. She
- 2:59Speaker 4: grew up in the Detroit area, where it seems she
- 3:01Speaker 4: didn't have it easy. In the 10th grade, she left
- 3:04Speaker 4: school altogether and engaged in a life completely lacking in stability.
- 3:08Speaker 4: She bounced from job to job, bartending, waitressing, and often
- 3:11Speaker 4: just staying home. Her aunt, Angela Jordan, repeatedly urged her
- 3:15Speaker 4: to get her GED, but her pleas fell on deaf ears.
- 3:20Speaker 4: By the time Michelle was 19, she had her first daughter, Gabby,
- 3:23Speaker 4: and her boyfriend, Alexander Dorsey. Two years later, their daughter, Stoney, followed.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Gabby's early memories aren't particularly ones of violence or suffering,
- 3:33Speaker 4: but fighting. According to her, her mother would get into
- 3:36Speaker 4: fervent arguments with her father in front of her and
- 3:39Speaker 4: seemed to constantly be trying to force him out of
- 3:41Speaker 4: the house. When her father finally left, Michelle refused to
- 3:44Speaker 4: let him see his daughters. Michelle, however, remembers things differently.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I did and I did it, but that is not
- 3:51Speaker 2: to get to the fact that they were never there
- 3:53Speaker 2: for their children.
- 3:54Speaker 5: I had to struggle with them all the time. They
- 3:56Speaker 5: were never there.
- 3:58Speaker 4: A few years after the separation in 2004, Michelle gave
- 4:01Speaker 4: birth to Stephen Gage Berry. Three years later, she had
- 4:04Speaker 4: another son, who I'll be referring to as Mikey, to
- 4:07Speaker 4: protect his identity. Their father also wasn't around, spending years
- 4:11Speaker 4: in and out of prison. Michelle struggled financing four children
- 4:15Speaker 4: with no job. She allegedly leaned on her great aunt
- 4:18Speaker 4: for support, requesting money from her when she ran out.
- 4:21Speaker 4: When her aunt pushed her to get a job, she'd withdraw,
- 4:24Speaker 4: oftentimes disappearing and breaking contact with the family for months
- 4:27Speaker 4: on end. This disappearing act is part of what allowed
- 4:31Speaker 4: the secrets and violence inside her house to fester. For years,
- 4:35Speaker 4: her three eldest children attended school at Ralph Bunch Preparatory Academy.
- 4:39Speaker 4: By all accounts, they were average kids. Gabby was shy
- 4:44Speaker 4: and kind. Stoney was known to be outgoing, friendly, warm,
- 4:47Speaker 4: and able to talk to anyone and make friends easily.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Gabby was the oldest, but in a lot of ways,
- 4:53Speaker 4: she looked up to and admired Stoney. The kids had
- 4:57Speaker 4: no visible signs of abuse at school. Often, Gabby and
- 5:01Speaker 4: Stoney would ask to eat the leftovers of their classmates,
- 5:03Speaker 4: but no one baddened an eye. If they had known
- 5:06Speaker 4: why they wanted that food, well, things may have been
- 5:10Speaker 4: very different. At home, Michelle was allegedly spending all of
- 5:13Speaker 4: her money on drugs and alcohol. Many days, the kids
- 5:17Speaker 4: would be served canned potatoes for breakfast and dinner. Lunch
- 5:20Speaker 4: at school was oftentimes the only real meal they would get.
- 5:24Speaker 4: And if they complained, asking for more, they were sealing
- 5:28Speaker 4: their fate. If Michelle heard the kids complain or felt
- 5:31Speaker 4: disrespected in any way, she would take the metal end
- 5:34Speaker 4: of her belt to their backs. She was careful not
- 5:37Speaker 4: to leave marks on their legs or arms, reserving the welts, bruises,
- 5:40Speaker 4: and cuts for a place that would always be securely
- 5:42Speaker 4: hidden beneath their shirts. Michelle was a lot of things,
- 5:47Speaker 4: but she wasn't stupid. She was well aware that CPS could,
- 5:51Speaker 4: and would, take her kids for the treatment they were getting.
- 5:55Speaker 4: She didn't want to stop f * * * ing
- 5:56Speaker 4: her kids. She just didn't want to get caught. Sometime
- 6:00Speaker 4: around 2010, Michelle abruptly took her kids out of school.
- 6:04Speaker 4: This type of sudden isolation is hauntingly typical in cases
- 6:06Speaker 4: of child abuse. She told anyone who asked that she
- 6:09Speaker 4: was homeschooling, and soon the public's memory of the children
- 6:12Speaker 4: fell to the wayside. Inside, things were getting worse. Michelle's
- 6:18Speaker 4: anger and violence steadily grew out of control. Her weapons
- 6:21Speaker 4: of choice changed often, from scalding water to the belt
- 6:24Speaker 4: to hot curling irons. At one point, Gabby recalls her
- 6:28Speaker 4: mother hitting her in the face with said curling iron.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Her mouth filled with blood, and she felt a sensation
- 6:33Speaker 4: she can only remember as a crumble. When she looked
- 6:36Speaker 4: in the mirror, she realized that her mother had chipped
- 6:38Speaker 4: her front tooth. Immediately, her mom went into damage control mode.
- 6:43Speaker 4: This wasn't a bruise on her back that was going
- 6:44Speaker 4: to disappear before anyone saw it. This was permanent, and
- 6:48Speaker 4: she needed a cover story. Within minutes of knocking out
- 6:51Speaker 4: part of her daughter's tooth, Michelle taught Gabby what she
- 6:54Speaker 4: was to recite if anyone asked. Her brother hit her
- 6:57Speaker 4: in the face with a toy car. Of course, Gabby
- 7:00Speaker 4: didn't say no to this. When a relative came over
- 7:03Speaker 4: for a rare visit hours later, Gabby told the fake
- 7:06Speaker 4: story of what happened to her tooth. Tragically, no one
- 7:09Speaker 4: suspected a thing. By then, all the kids had been
- 7:13Speaker 4: trained to do exactly as their mother said. Gabby recalls
- 7:17Speaker 4: incidents where she and her siblings were forced to stand
- 7:19Speaker 4: in scalding hot water in the shower for minor transgressions. Oftentimes,
- 7:23Speaker 4: they were forced in just because their mother was in
- 7:25Speaker 4: a mood. On one occasion, one of the boys was
- 7:28Speaker 4: f * * * ed with an iron. Michelle then
- 7:30Speaker 4: poured rubbing alcohol over the burn, only adding to the
- 7:33Speaker 4: already excruciating pain. This was daily life for Michelle Blair's
- 7:39Speaker 4: children for at least two years. Then, things took an
- 7:44Speaker 4: even more sinister turn. In August of 2012, five-year-old Mikey
- 7:49Speaker 4: was playing with two toy wrestling figures. He rubbed the
- 7:52Speaker 4: dolls together in a fashion that his mother believed was sexual.
- 7:56Speaker 4: In that instant, everything changed. The idea that Mikey had
- 8:00Speaker 4: been inappropriately touched became an obsession of Michelle's. It's not
- 8:04Speaker 4: uncommon for children who have been exploited to show signs
- 8:07Speaker 4: through play. However, there is no corroborating evidence to support
- 8:11Speaker 4: the theory that Mikey was sexually exploited. Immediately, Michelle demanded
- 8:16Speaker 4: to know who had touched Mikey that way. According to Stoney,
- 8:20Speaker 4: who was watching helplessly nearby, she demanded an answer for
- 8:22Speaker 4: several minutes, becoming increasingly irate until Mikey finally cracked and said, Stephen.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Stephen was just nine, and suddenly he was faced with
- 8:32Speaker 4: the wrath of an adult woman convinced of her own delusion.
- 8:36Speaker 4: For the next two weeks, Stephen was kept in his
- 8:38Speaker 4: mother's room, completely isolated from his siblings. If any of
- 8:42Speaker 4: them tried to go in to check on him, they
- 8:45Speaker 4: were beaten and screamed at. Stephen was repeatedly beaten in
- 8:49Speaker 4: unimaginable ways. He was hit with a 2x4 so many
- 8:53Speaker 4: times that his head became severely misshapen. He was forced
- 8:56Speaker 4: to drink window cleaner, deprived of food, and suffocated repeatedly
- 9:00Speaker 4: by plastic bags being held over his head by his mother.
- 9:04Speaker 4: At one point, when he managed to break through the
- 9:06Speaker 4: bag to gasp for air, she immediately grabbed a stronger bat.
- 9:10Speaker 4: and suffocated him until he fell unconscious. Then, not done
- 9:15Speaker 4: with her torture, she slapped him awake. The violence unleashed
- 9:20Speaker 4: on that little boy is beyond words. And tragically, it
- 9:25Speaker 4: lasted until the very end. Gabby recalls being called into
- 9:29Speaker 4: her mother's room sometime around August 30th, 2012. There, she
- 9:33Speaker 4: discovered her mother holding Stephen in her arms.
- 9:36Speaker 5: He was weak.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Blood and vomit were on his lips. Michelle told all
- 9:41Speaker 4: of the siblings to say goodbye to Stephen. Gabby kissed
- 9:44Speaker 4: her brother on the forehead for the very last time.
- 9:48Speaker 4: Michelle allegedly sobbed and told Stephen she loved him. Stephen's
- 9:52Speaker 4: final words were, Then, after telling the woman who had
- 9:58Speaker 4: killed him that he loved her, Stephen said, took a
- 10:00Speaker 4: shaky breath and died in her arms. Moments later, Michelle
- 10:05Speaker 4: ordered her daughter Gabby to stand up and help her
- 10:07Speaker 4: with the body. Gabby was just 14. She had no
- 10:11Speaker 4: choice but to help her mother carry the body downstairs
- 10:13Speaker 4: where a chest freezer sat in the middle of their
- 10:15Speaker 4: living room. Gabby knew that if she refused to She
- 10:20Speaker 4: would be the next person to go in the freezer.
- 10:23Speaker 4: With seemingly no remorse, Michelle dropped her son into the
- 10:26Speaker 4: freezer and closed it shut. He would remain there for
- 10:30Speaker 4: the next three years. Though he wasn't alone. Michelle's paranoia
- 10:36Speaker 4: about her children suffering from sexual exploitation didn't disappear with
- 10:40Speaker 4: the death of her son. It was simply transferred to
- 10:43Speaker 4: her 13-year-old daughter, Stoney. Michelle became convinced that Stoney had
- 10:47Speaker 4: harmed her 5-year-old brother. To get confirmation of her delusion,
- 10:51Speaker 4: she threatened to hurt Mikey until he told her the
- 10:54Speaker 4: truth about Stoney touching him. Of course, the five-year-old conceded,
- 10:58Speaker 4: saying Stoney had harmed him. With Michelle's accusations of her
- 11:02Speaker 4: children and her intricate stories of their actions, she did
- 11:05Speaker 4: what she sought out to do. She took the blame
- 11:07Speaker 4: away from herself and placed it on them. The story
- 11:11Speaker 4: she spun grew more and more outlandish with every passing day.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Would tell me different things because she was doing this
- 11:19Speaker 2: to him for years and I did not know that
- 11:22Speaker 2: you get what I'm saying and I didn't find out
- 11:23Speaker 2: until nine months later she had started with Steven she
- 11:26Speaker 2: ruined my son okay she started with Steven before he
- 11:29Speaker 2: even started so yes I put a bag over her
- 11:36Speaker 2: head but um it got worse that day yes I
- 11:39Speaker 2: did it got worse that day because he would tell
- 11:42Speaker 2: me how she would take her pad her menstrual pad
- 11:47Speaker 2: and squeeze her blood out in his mouth okay and
- 11:52Speaker 2: it was just it was over with after that it
- 11:55Speaker 2: was over.
- 11:55Speaker 4: With her daughter was just 13 again there is absolutely
- 12:01Speaker 4: no evidence that her daughter did any of the horrible
- 12:04Speaker 4: things her mother is accusing her of but if she
- 12:07Speaker 4: had this kind of behavior wouldn't just come from nowhere
- 12:11Speaker 4: it would have to have had been learned from someone Regardless,
- 12:15Speaker 4: Michelle became completely enraptured with the delusion that her daughter
- 12:18Speaker 4: was evil, corrupting, and torturing Mikey. And the violence that
- 12:23Speaker 4: Stoney faced escalated beyond belief.
- 12:27Speaker 5: Did you hit her in the head with a wooden stick?
- 12:28Speaker 2: Yes, I hit her in the head multiple times, over
- 12:31Speaker 2: and over.
- 12:32Speaker 5: Was that shortly before she died?
- 12:33Speaker 2: That was actually days before she died and the day
- 12:36Speaker 2: she died.
- 12:37Speaker 5: Okay.
- 12:42Speaker 2: I hit on her back, like on her tailbone.
- 12:48Speaker 4: I kicked her. For weeks and weeks, Stoney was imprisoned
- 12:52Speaker 4: here by a life of nothing but sheer pain and
- 12:55Speaker 4: torture at the hands of the very woman who was
- 12:58Speaker 4: supposed to protect her. At one point, very shortly before
- 13:02Speaker 4: Stoney's death, Michelle hit her in the head with a
- 13:04Speaker 4: two by four and cheered as gushed from her head.
- 13:09Speaker 4: This time, when Michelle demanded that Gabby help her hide
- 13:12Speaker 4: the body, Stoney was still breathing. The terrified, wounded child
- 13:17Speaker 4: was put inside the freezer on top of the body
- 13:20Speaker 4: of her brother, completely aware of what was happening to her.
- 13:25Speaker 4: For the next two years, Gabby was convinced that she
- 13:28Speaker 4: was next. And in March of 2015, she was certain
- 13:32Speaker 4: of it. After failing to pay rent for several months,
- 13:35Speaker 4: Michelle received an eviction notice in the mail. She began
- 13:38Speaker 4: to panic, not just about losing their home, but about
- 13:41Speaker 4: the realization that she had nowhere to hide the horrific
- 13:43Speaker 4: crimes she had committed. On multiple occasions, she had threatened Gabby,
- 13:48Speaker 4: telling her that if she told anyone what had happened,
- 13:50Speaker 4: she'd f * * * her brother, then Gabby, and
- 13:53Speaker 4: finally herself. After so many months of these threats, Gabby
- 13:57Speaker 4: was sure her mother was going to do it. But
- 14:00Speaker 4: to her shock, her mother told her to gather her things. Hastily,
- 14:05Speaker 4: she asked a neighbor to watch her two remaining children,
- 14:07Speaker 4: and as the kids watched on, she told her neighbor everything.
- 14:12Speaker 4: The court officers performing the eviction looked inside the freezer
- 14:14Speaker 4: and What they discovered would horrify them for the rest
- 14:17Speaker 4: of their lives. Initial reports stated that the officers believed
- 14:22Speaker 4: the bodies were that of a young boy and an
- 14:24Speaker 4: old woman. Stoney's b * * * * was so
- 14:26Speaker 4: fragile and worn at the time of her death that
- 14:29Speaker 4: it wasn't even thought possible that she was a young girl.
- 14:33Speaker 4: Michelle was arrested next door without incident, seemingly accepting her fate.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Gabby and Mikey were taken into the custody of their
- 14:40Speaker 4: great aunt, who quickly put the two into therapy and
- 14:42Speaker 4: got them the care they so desperately needed. After committing
- 14:46Speaker 4: such horrific crimes for the whole world to see, you
- 14:48Speaker 4: would think that Michelle would be apologetic. Tragically, she wasn't.
- 14:54Speaker 4: At least. She used her extensive court appearances to further
- 14:58Speaker 4: drag her children's names through the mud. Specifically, Stoney's.
- 15:03Speaker 3: That there is no evidence in this case that any
- 15:06Speaker 3: of the younger children or the younger child was sexually abused.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Abundant evidence that the surviving children were physically abused by
- 15:17Speaker 3: this defendant.
- 15:19Speaker 5: That's a lie. My son, oh my.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
- 15:23Speaker 5: No, no, no, Ms. Blair. You notice the speaker that
- 15:26Speaker 5: we had set up in the back.
- 15:27Speaker 2: If you can't behave yourself, you're going to get an.
- 15:33Speaker 5: Opportunity to speak. If you can't behave yourself, I'm going
- 15:36Speaker 5: to put you in the back. We'll finish our portion
- 15:38Speaker 5: of the proceeding. I can bring you back out here
- 15:40Speaker 5: to speak because you're going to get an opportunity. But
- 15:43Speaker 5: if you interrupt people, I have to put you in
- 15:45Speaker 5: the back. So it's just your son. Okay. Go ahead, Ms. Goldfarb.
- 15:48Speaker 3: That's the evidence, Your Honor. No physical evidence that that
- 15:52Speaker 3: younger child was physically abused. No eyewitness to physical abuse
- 15:58Speaker 3: or sexual abuse in that child, but abundant evidence that
- 16:02Speaker 3: he was physically abused, as was his surviving sister, by
- 16:05Speaker 3: this defendant.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Ms.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Blair, if she ever.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Actually saw or witnessed any of these acts with regard.
- 16:11Speaker 1: To Did you ever actually see anything of any sexual
- 16:24Speaker 1: abuse of any kind between either Stephen and Stoney?
- 16:30Speaker 2: I reject her question, but I will answer it because
- 16:33Speaker 2: no one will say that this did not happen because
- 16:35Speaker 2: it actually did.
- 16:36Speaker 5: I just want to have a clear record. Because so far,
- 16:39Speaker 5: all you've told me was that you just heard it.
- 16:41Speaker 5: And that they admitted it.
- 16:43Speaker 3: No, I did not.
- 16:43Speaker 2: You get what I'm saying?
- 16:44Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I understand.
- 16:46Speaker 2: But as I went back in my head and thought
- 16:48Speaker 2: back to all the many things that was wrong with
- 16:52Speaker 2: you over the years, and I'm like, that's what was
- 16:53Speaker 2: wrong with you? He'll use the bathroom and say, Mom,
- 16:56Speaker 2: my butt hurts from my poop.
- 16:58Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 16:58Speaker 2: So I started giving him 100% juice to make his
- 17:02Speaker 2: stool softer, maybe to help him use it. But that
- 17:05Speaker 2: wasn't the problem.
- 17:06Speaker 4: It wasn't his stool.
- 17:06Speaker 2: It was that he was being raped, okay?
- 17:09Speaker 4: When asked for the details of her crimes... She didn't
- 17:12Speaker 4: spare a single one.
- 17:14Speaker 2: I assaulted her every time he told me what she
- 17:17Speaker 2: did to him. By assault, I mean I punched her.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I put a bag over her head until she lost consciousness.
- 17:27Speaker 2: I threw hot water on her, scalding hot water from
- 17:31Speaker 2: the faucet.
- 17:33Speaker 3: So, man, I don't.
- 17:34Speaker 5: Regret none of this. I don't regret any of it.
- 17:37Speaker 5: is my son. That's my baby.
- 17:39Speaker 2: There's no way that his brother and sister should know
- 17:42Speaker 2: what he feels like inside.
- 17:44Speaker 5: There's no way.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Understood.
- 17:46Speaker 5: I don't feel no remorse for the death of them demons. Okay.
- 17:49Speaker 4: Fortunately, at her sentencing, the judge didn't hide her disdain.
- 17:53Speaker 5: It's my turn to talk. It's my turn to talk.
- 17:56Speaker 5: I gave you an opportunity to speak.
- 18:01Speaker 1: As a mother, one of your primary responsibilities was to
- 18:04Speaker 1: protect your kids. And.
- 18:07Speaker 5: In that respect, you failed in the worst possible way.
- 18:10Speaker 5: There's nothing that can be done at this point to
- 18:13Speaker 5: change what happened.
- 18:13Speaker 1: True.
- 18:14Speaker 5: That's why I'm asking for life. I know.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Thankfully, that house of horrors that you created is no
- 18:22Speaker 1: longer in existence.
- 18:24Speaker 5: I do pray that your remaining children.
- 18:25Speaker 3: They will.
- 18:26Speaker 5: Will recover.
- 18:27Speaker 3: They will.
- 18:28Speaker 5: From what they saw and endured in that household. What
- 18:32Speaker 5: struck me as rather unnerving was that you stated... that
- 18:36Speaker 5: your kids got it better than what you had.
- 18:39Speaker 1: I fail to see how that's possible.
- 18:41Speaker 5: When you're still here. You're talking about the deceased children? No.
- 18:47Speaker 5: Let me talk. This may well happen to you. When
- 18:53Speaker 5: you were a child, you had the opportunity to grow up.
- 18:55Speaker 3: True.
- 18:56Speaker 5: You had the opportunity to become an adult.
- 18:57Speaker 1: You had the opportunity to make your own decisions with
- 19:01Speaker 1: respect to running your own life.
- 19:04Speaker 5: And you were blessed with four children. Stoney and Stephen
- 19:07Speaker 5: are never going to have that. They don't have those
- 19:09Speaker 5: same opportunities.
- 19:11Speaker 1: And when I think about all of the possible joys
- 19:15Speaker 1: that they could be missing out on, one thing that
- 19:18Speaker 1: strikes me as the greatest tragedy here is that they
- 19:21Speaker 1: will never know what a life is like without experiencing.
- 19:25Speaker 5: Fearing their mother.
- 19:26Speaker 1: They will never know the joy of what could have
- 19:29Speaker 1: been in their life without having you in it. They
- 19:33Speaker 1: lived in terrible fear of you. And I find that
- 19:36Speaker 1: just so sad in this case. After all is said
- 19:41Speaker 1: and done, you imposed the death penalty on your own children.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I did.
- 19:45Speaker 4: For the murder and torture of her children, Michelle Blair
- 19:48Speaker 4: was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Since landing behind bars, she has only escalated her charges.
- 19:55Speaker 4: She's received over 30 counts of misconduct and in 2017
- 19:59Speaker 4: was charged with assaulting an officer for spitting on, throwing
- 20:02Speaker 4: urine at, and throwing food at a guard on multiple occasions.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Her daughter Gabby has gone on to graduate from high
- 20:08Speaker 4: school and has been outspoken about her mother's crimes. Fortunately,
- 20:12Speaker 4: she seems to have a good head on her shoulders
- 20:15Speaker 4: and a bright future ahead of her.
