- 0:33Speaker 1: Enjoy the show. Ladies and gentlemen, prepare yourselves.
- 0:45Speaker 6: It's time for the third annual Movie Meltdown Oscar Mile Party.
- 0:54Speaker 7: Thank you very much, thank you very much.
- 1:19Speaker 5: Have you tried the popcorn yet?
- 1:20Speaker 8: Yes, I did.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Me and Aubrey all the time.
- 1:23Speaker 5: Good Lord, I'm getting full. Bacon popcorn. Bacon popcorn.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Bacon popcorn.
- 1:29Speaker 5: I made a little damn cookie.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Damn, you do like that. God damn, I can't have
- 1:33Speaker 1: enough of these fucking cookies. Here, you want another one?
- 1:38Speaker 5: No. I'm taking Wyoming all bad. The bacon is just
- 1:42Speaker 5: too confusing for me. The cookie itself is delicious, but
- 1:44Speaker 5: the bacon is throwing me off.
- 1:47Speaker 9: Microwave on high power for 1-4 minutes 1-4?
- 1:51Speaker 10: That's a huge fucking range in microwave.
- 1:54Speaker 11: Time it can burn in 3 seconds that's like an
- 1:59Speaker 11: insight table point of time we'll be there between 1
- 2:03Speaker 11: and 5 8.
- 2:04Speaker 1: O'clock in the morning and 10.30 at night you just
- 2:07Speaker 1: be there.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Sure what movie was Alec Baldwin in?
- 2:11Speaker 1: I think it's just because he's hosted before. What movie
- 2:14Speaker 1: has he.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Not been in?
- 2:16Speaker 1: Everybody loves Alan Baldwin at this point.
- 2:18Speaker 5: But was he in an Oscar nominated movie?
- 2:20Speaker 1: Except for his daughter. Yeah. Well, he did some fine parenting.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I don't know what.
- 2:27Speaker 11: You're talking about.
- 2:28Speaker 1: What did he call her? A fucking pig? That's fine parenting.
- 2:32Speaker 1: That's fine parenting. By the way, is Back to the
- 2:38Speaker 1: Future nominated this year? Because I might have missed something, but... Yeah.
- 2:43Speaker 1: You guys are just going crazy at this point. And
- 2:46Speaker 1: out of your way to work in a random movie. Hey,
- 2:48Speaker 1: aren't they going to redo this? Don't say that. No,
- 2:52Speaker 1: I thought I heard somewhere they were talking about... They
- 2:54Speaker 1: were talking about it a long time.
- 2:55Speaker 5: Ago, but.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I still think Zac Efron would be great as Marty.
- 2:58Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Actually, yeah. I don't know if he can do the
- 3:04Speaker 1: Marnie thing, though. He's got at least the likable quality
- 3:08Speaker 1: of Michael J. Fox, but he might turn out to
- 3:11Speaker 1: be an Eric Stoltz.
- 3:12Speaker 6: Right.
- 3:13Speaker 1: We need to reshoot this shit. I've liked her.
- 3:18Speaker 5: Dresses the most out of anyone so far.
- 3:21Speaker 12: Oh, yeah, okay.
- 3:22Speaker 5: She had a red dress on earlier.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Are you right? She didn't smile. Ah, there we go.
- 3:32Speaker 1: There's the Meg out. Love that Joker. Love that Joker. Oh,
- 3:39Speaker 1: that head's full of.
- 3:42Speaker 12: Teeth.
- 3:42Speaker 5: As opposed to a mouth, that's not.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Her head is just all full of teeth.
- 3:47Speaker 5: I just want to put some on my plate. You
- 3:49Speaker 5: can see her wisdom teeth when she smiles. He just
- 3:52Speaker 5: looks so dirty all the time and greasy.
- 3:54Speaker 12: Like me.
- 3:55Speaker 5: Yeah, he does look greasy. He can't open his eyelids.
- 3:59Speaker 5: That's the problem.
- 4:00Speaker 1: It's called bacon pop. More than I needed.
- 4:17Speaker 5: I just want a tiny little bit. Wow.
- 4:20Speaker 1: This stuff tastes like... No, it smells like it was...
- 4:23Speaker 1: It smells like a campfire.
- 4:26Speaker 5: That's how we make it?
- 4:27Speaker 13: I know.
- 4:28Speaker 1: It smells like a campfire. Yeah, it does smell... It
- 4:30Speaker 1: does taste slightly worse.
- 4:32Speaker 6: Right.
- 4:34Speaker 1: It's not overpowering. No.
- 4:36Speaker 5: Bacon-aise.
- 4:38Speaker 1: What? Yep. Bacon-aise. Bacon ranch. Big insult.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Do you, like, direction?
- 4:49Speaker 1: No, it's different things you can buy. How come guys
- 4:50Speaker 1: always gotta wear tuxedos to these things? I don't get that.
- 4:53Speaker 1: You see a fucking sea of tuxedos, but the chicks
- 4:55Speaker 1: get to wear different dresses and shit. Why can't guys
- 4:57Speaker 1: wear different types of tuxedos?
- 4:58Speaker 5: I get to wear different tuxedos.
- 4:59Speaker 14: Huh?
- 4:59Speaker 5: I get to do different tuxedos.
- 5:01Speaker 1: They can wear tuxedos if they want. They did, actually.
- 5:04Speaker 1: It was Trey Parker who matched them. He wore the
- 5:07Speaker 1: Jennifer Lopez dress. And you'll notice you never saw that
- 5:11Speaker 1: on the episode.
- 5:11Speaker 5: No.
- 5:12Speaker 15: Really?
- 5:12Speaker 12: No.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Oh yeah they totally.
- 5:15Speaker 5: Cut them out they want to keep the Oscars classy.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I know but I was just like that's why I
- 5:20Speaker 1: wish they would have won that year because they couldn't
- 5:22Speaker 1: have taken it out like they cut them out of
- 5:24Speaker 1: all the red carpet stuff but I'm like if they
- 5:25Speaker 1: would have had to go on stage you guys would
- 5:28Speaker 1: have been fucked.
- 5:29Speaker 5: What year was that when they won for orgasm no.
- 5:32Speaker 16: They would have cut it out no that was for
- 5:33Speaker 16: South Park doesn't work yeah well I like the bacon
- 5:36Speaker 16: popcorn man it tastes pretty.
- 5:37Speaker 11: Good it's not bad yeah If I hadn't had so
- 5:41Speaker 11: much meat tonight, it probably would have been pretty good.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I want jalapeno popcorn. Okay, Selina. I made some the
- 5:49Speaker 1: other night. That's our pickle, actually.
- 5:52Speaker 5: He wouldn't use the pickle juice, but he did.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Do the hot sauce. No, I don't usually use the
- 5:56Speaker 1: pickle juice.
- 5:56Speaker 5: I use the hot sauce.
- 5:58Speaker 8: I should have got Ricky Gervais to toast this.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Wizard of Oz? Wizard of Oz was 39, so yeah.
- 6:07Speaker 5: Oh, is that what that movie is?
- 6:10Speaker 1: I don't know what it is. I don't know what
- 6:14Speaker 1: it is. I don't know what it is.
- 6:15Speaker 15: I think it's James Franco supposed to be playing the
- 6:18Speaker 15: wizard from what I hear now.
- 6:19Speaker 17: What?
- 6:19Speaker 5: Huh?
- 6:20Speaker 1: What are you talking about?
- 6:22Speaker 12: Wizard of Oz.
- 6:23Speaker 1: What about Wizard of Oz?
- 6:24Speaker 8: Franco's supposed to be playing the wizard.
- 6:26Speaker 1: They're remaking Wizard of Oz?
- 6:27Speaker 5: Yep.
- 6:28Speaker 1: What the fuck's all that shit?
- 6:31Speaker 18: What?
- 6:31Speaker 5: No, I'm kidding.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Nobody wants to see a Wizard of Oz remake.
- 6:38Speaker 5: What the fuck's up with that shit? It's going to
- 6:39Speaker 5: be terrible. As long as Tim Burton doesn't get it.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Oh, God. Oh, that would be bad.
- 6:44Speaker 5: I think he probably will, too.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I think one of the two, there's at least two
- 6:47Speaker 1: of them going right now. I think one of them
- 6:48Speaker 1: they were trying to get. Oh, you know Tim Burton
- 6:50Speaker 1: wants that so bad. He's got a heart on it
- 6:52Speaker 1: for that fucking movie. Johnny Depp would be the scarecrow.
- 6:54Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 6:54Speaker 5: No, I think he'd be the Tin Man. He'd be
- 7:01Speaker 5: every character.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Yeah, he'd be all three. He might be Dorothy.
- 7:05Speaker 5: He'd be a flying monkey.
- 7:07Speaker 1: No, he'd be a homewrecker. You were there, and you
- 7:10Speaker 1: were there.
- 7:11Speaker 5: Three at a time.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I know I'm 50, but I'm going to be Dorothy.
- 7:14Speaker 1: You thought Judy Garland was a stretch for a little girl.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Good Lord. Is that Yoda? The white Yoda.
- 7:25Speaker 5: The Yoda.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Wait, isn't that guy dead? I thought we already lost him.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Wasn't he in the montage last year? He came back.
- 7:38Speaker 1: That's impressive.
- 7:40Speaker 5: It's like his face is burned off in a fire.
- 7:44Speaker 1: You know, don't parade yourself out there if you can
- 7:46Speaker 1: barely do it. He's got dollsy Mary Loves.
- 7:50Speaker 5: I bet if that's what his earlobes look like, imagine
- 7:53Speaker 5: what his.
- 7:54Speaker 19: Balls look like.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Let's just leave it at that because I don't want
- 7:59Speaker 1: to find out. I just need myself in the balls.
- 8:03Speaker 1: That happens. So obviously, we are still here watching the
- 8:23Speaker 1: Oscars and making our snarky comments as always. So welcome
- 8:29Speaker 1: back to Movie Meltdown's Oscar Meltdown 3D. Once again, I
- 8:33Speaker 1: am Brian.
- 8:34Speaker 5: I am still Misty and still awesome.
- 8:36Speaker 8: I'm Jay.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I'm Greg and I'm slightly less awesome.
- 8:41Speaker 5: I've had more pork fries.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I'm greasier.
- 8:45Speaker 5: I'm Marlena and I'm sweating pork through my pores.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Oh, we just, you know, busted into the microwave popcorn
- 8:53Speaker 1: pork flavored. We've got our bacon flavored microwave popcorn and we're,
- 8:57Speaker 1: you know, we're ready to go. Bacon cookies. Bacon cookies and, yeah,
- 9:01Speaker 1: so it's, you know, it's a bacon festival as... Well,
- 9:04Speaker 1: as we expected going into this. It's a porcupalooza.
- 9:07Speaker 8: Do people still have their 3D glasses on?
- 9:10Speaker 1: Oh, you know. Don't take them off. They've had them
- 9:14Speaker 1: on a week. You've been going to work with them
- 9:16Speaker 1: on a week. You've been driving with them and people
- 9:19Speaker 1: are like, what the fuck are you doing? They told
- 9:21Speaker 1: me I couldn't take them off until the end of
- 9:23Speaker 1: the show. You can't name us in the police report
- 9:26Speaker 1: from the accident. There were voices in my head and
- 9:29Speaker 1: they said to wear these glasses.
- 9:30Speaker 6: So, yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Please continue to wear your glasses throughout the rest of
- 9:34Speaker 1: this episode.
- 9:34Speaker 5: Forever.
- 9:35Speaker 1: And possibly forever. That's questionable.
- 9:38Speaker 6: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 9:41Speaker 14: You know, I've always been known for showing you well,
- 9:45Speaker 14: lots of things. Anyway, I'm also famous for showing you
- 9:49Speaker 14: really bad movies. You know, the Cram de la Crap.
- 9:53Speaker 14: But today, I'm proud to present a film written and
- 9:56Speaker 14: directed by one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.
- 9:59Speaker 19: See if you can guess who it is. I'll make
- 10:01Speaker 19: him an offer he can't refuse.
- 10:03Speaker 5: Now, this is ridiculous.
- 10:05Speaker 1: No, no.
- 10:05Speaker 19: Okay, here's another one. I love the smell of napalm
- 10:08Speaker 19: in the morning.
- 10:09Speaker 5: You're all being ridiculous.
- 10:11Speaker 19: Well, excuse me, lady wet blanket. Okay, last clue. Fredo,
- 10:18Speaker 19: you broke my heart.
- 10:20Speaker 8: Come back.
- 10:21Speaker 12: Come back.
- 10:21Speaker 19: I'll tell you. It's Francis Ford Coppola. I am so excited.
- 10:27Speaker 19: I wonder which one of his classic hits we're going
- 10:29Speaker 19: to see tonight. The Godfather? Godfather 2? Apocalypse Now? Dementia 13?
- 10:36Speaker 1: Ah, yes.
- 10:37Speaker 20: That was a sad thing, that one.
- 10:41Speaker 18: Oh, yeah.
- 10:42Speaker 14: You're telling me. Boy, it was almost as bad as
- 10:44Speaker 14: The Godfather 3. I mean, even I have to draw
- 10:47Speaker 14: the line somewhere.
- 11:04Speaker 5: Alright, we're talking about the movie now.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Hush up, sir. What movie? Dementia 13. Oh, when I
- 11:09Speaker 1: slept through?
- 11:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I know. You were snoring like a crazy cat.
- 11:14Speaker 5: Hell yeah, I was fucking tired.
- 11:16Speaker 15: You stay up for days playing fucking Castlevania, but God
- 11:19Speaker 15: forbid you stay up for, according to my.
- 11:21Speaker 1: DVD cases, an hour.
- 11:22Speaker 17: Alright, so we are back with this week's Sova Theater.
- 11:28Speaker 17: This week's Oscar Meltdown edition of the Sova Theater, we
- 11:31Speaker 17: will be discussing Dementia 13.
- 11:34Speaker 1: The year is 1963. The director, Francis Ford Coppola. Misty,
- 11:39Speaker 1: do you prefer your back-of-the-box description?
- 11:42Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 11:43Speaker 1: This one, it's equally as lengthy and, I don't know,
- 11:47Speaker 1: go ahead and go for that one. You want me
- 11:49Speaker 1: to read mine?
- 11:50Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 11:50Speaker 5: Oh, I gotta read?
- 11:51Speaker 1: We're going with the ghetto, was it Big Lots, you said?
- 11:55Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure it's the Dollar Tree.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Oh, Dollar Tree, even better. This is obviously the highest
- 11:59Speaker 1: quality film.
- 12:00Speaker 5: So why is it, it tells you the movie's.
- 12:02Speaker 8: Only 60 minutes.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Which it's not, by the way.
- 12:05Speaker 5: It says this DVD is compatible with all DVD.
- 12:07Speaker 8: Players, though.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Good to know.
- 12:08Speaker 8: All right, are we ready for Dimension 13, the breakdown?
- 12:13Speaker 1: All right.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Each year, a dysfunctional woman, Lady Halloran, calls her family
- 12:18Speaker 3: together to mourn over the death of her young daughter, Kathleen,
- 12:23Speaker 3: who drowned in L.A.
- 12:24Speaker 8: Seven years earlier.
- 12:25Speaker 15: Meanwhile, this morbid ceremonial becomes problematic when a stranger begins
- 12:30Speaker 15: hacking family members one by one with an axe.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Follow this horror thriller as all the clues begin to
- 12:36Speaker 3: lead them to Kathleen's watery grave.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Dun dun dun.
- 12:40Speaker 5: Which one is the killer?
- 12:44Speaker 1: Oh, with that spoiler alert.
- 12:46Speaker 15: I'm pretty sure it wasn't her because when she's the
- 12:48Speaker 15: first one to die.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Now you really spoil it.
- 12:51Speaker 11: No, we know who the first one to die is
- 12:54Speaker 11: in the first five minutes of the movie.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Well, she's the second one to die.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Well, I just loved the opening.
- 13:02Speaker 11: I loved how He's dying, having a heart attack, and
- 13:07Speaker 11: he's laughing at her because she's not going to be
- 13:09Speaker 11: in the world. I was like, maybe this is going
- 13:11Speaker 11: to be a good movie. He's dying and laughing at
- 13:14Speaker 11: his wife for being a bitch. He's taunting her. It's like,
- 13:18Speaker 11: get me back. You're not going to get any money.
- 13:21Speaker 1: He's just playing with her as she's rowing a boat.
- 13:25Speaker 1: And it went down from there. For me, at least.
- 13:28Speaker 1: And that's the only movie that I watched.
- 13:30Speaker 16: So it was pretty good to you yeah it was
- 13:33Speaker 16: good for me I was awake.
- 13:35Speaker 1: For the very beginning and awake for the very end
- 13:39Speaker 1: she kept elbowing me I was really tired you.
- 13:42Speaker 8: Know You're exhausted from your many journeys in Pennsylvania.
- 13:45Speaker 1: What the hell is this?
- 13:47Speaker 3: He's going to break his little people arms off.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Who is this old guy? Isn't that Kirk?
- 13:54Speaker 20: It's Douglas.
- 13:54Speaker 15: Is it?
- 13:55Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 13:55Speaker 1: It looks like it used to be Kirk Douglas. He's
- 13:57Speaker 1: a decomposed Kirk Douglas. It's a shame because he was
- 14:00Speaker 1: awesome back in the day. Don't give it to Helen.
- 14:03Speaker 5: Helen O'Connor?
- 14:04Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 14:05Speaker 5: Give it to the little girl. She's cute.
- 14:06Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 14:09Speaker 1: He probably can't even read it.
- 14:10Speaker 5: Oh, my God. You guys should hear him talk now.
- 14:14Speaker 1: God.
- 14:14Speaker 5: I can't even tell who it is.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Oh, Kirk Douglas got old.
- 14:20Speaker 5: A long time ago.
- 14:22Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 14:23Speaker 1: What?
- 14:23Speaker 8: I think he said.
- 14:25Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I thought he said Homewrecker. It's not Homewrecker or The
- 14:29Speaker 1: Little Girl, so whatever. Hey, all right.
- 14:31Speaker 5: Who's that lady? Is it from.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Yeah, from The Fighter. Yeah. From when I hear you
- 14:37Speaker 1: did a good job, but we've got a movie to
- 14:38Speaker 1: talk about soon. We don't watch real movies. We don't
- 14:41Speaker 1: watch real movies. We watch movies from 1963 about people
- 14:44Speaker 1: getting hacked up with an axe. All right. Yeah.
- 14:48Speaker 5: I didn't hate this movie.
- 14:49Speaker 8: I guess I don't know why I didn't hate this movie.
- 14:51Speaker 1: No, I really kind of liked it.
- 14:52Speaker 18: Did people hate it?
- 14:53Speaker 1: Because from what I saw... They hated it.
- 14:54Speaker 8: Oh, really?
- 14:55Speaker 1: There was a whole lot of it that I hated.
- 14:58Speaker 5: It's bad enough for Elvira to deem like... Worthy to
- 15:03Speaker 5: make fun of.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Yeah, based on our little intro there, Elvira's not thrilled
- 15:07Speaker 1: with it. For once, I kind of disagree with Elvira.
- 15:09Speaker 1: I didn't think it was that bad. I thought it
- 15:12Speaker 1: seemed like Make Me a Psycho. Okay, I was going
- 15:16Speaker 1: to ask that. Did anybody else get that on their own?
- 15:20Speaker 5: It seemed like that.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Because it was one of those, I got midway into it,
- 15:24Speaker 1: and I hadn't really, again, I knew of it for years,
- 15:27Speaker 1: and I was meant to watch it, but I hadn't
- 15:28Speaker 1: really watched it or seen much on it. And got
- 15:31Speaker 1: midway into it, and that's what I was... Like, it
- 15:34Speaker 1: just occurred to me all on my own, this is
- 15:36Speaker 1: kind of a psycho-like structure to the plot. And then
- 15:39Speaker 1: when I went online, it's like, just to get the
- 15:41Speaker 1: info on it, it was like, everybody was like, oh,
- 15:43Speaker 1: it's a psycho ripoff! And that's, like, all they talked about.
- 15:46Speaker 1: And I was like, well... I mean, I feel like.
- 15:48Speaker 12: I see that.
- 15:49Speaker 5: I can see that. I feel like if it were
- 15:50Speaker 5: going to be a psycho ripoff, it'd be a lot
- 15:52Speaker 5: closer to the plot of Psycho.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:54Speaker 5: Because he was dressing up like his sister.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, but see, you know, it's the mother... Is
- 15:59Speaker 1: the mother insane? It's this... There's a family problem.
- 16:02Speaker 11: There's the son that's, you know, the crazy one that
- 16:05Speaker 11: seemed like he might have had it put together. the
- 16:07Speaker 11: actress that dies, you think this is the lead actress
- 16:10Speaker 11: that dies halfway through the movie.
- 16:12Speaker 1: That's what I was thinking. And that's what did it
- 16:14Speaker 1: for me. That was like the structure of the story.
- 16:17Speaker 1: After that, it changes. But to me, yeah, that whole
- 16:19Speaker 1: first part, it starts off with this woman. She commits
- 16:23Speaker 1: this questionable act, not really evil in either of the stories.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I mean, she just makes a bad judgment call, basically.
- 16:30Speaker 1: And then she enters into this other situation where And
- 16:33Speaker 1: there she's kind of got to deal with other people
- 16:35Speaker 1: that somebody turns out to be even crazier, you know.
- 16:39Speaker 1: She enters into this weird, questionable situation, and then she
- 16:42Speaker 1: finds people that are, like, even more sinister than her,
- 16:45Speaker 1: and she becomes the victim. Spoiler alert. Mother's probably waiting.
- 16:48Speaker 5: Is Richard ready for the ceremony?
- 16:50Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 16:50Speaker 5: I think he's in his studio.
- 16:52Speaker 1: He said he had a sudden inspiration.
- 16:54Speaker 20: Something about wanting to finish a statue before.
- 16:57Speaker 1: All right, Simon, I've seen you. Come out of there now.
- 17:00Speaker 21: I give up.
- 17:03Speaker 2: You caught me fair and square, Master Billy. I give
- 17:05Speaker 2: me self up.
- 17:07Speaker 11: So, it's poaching again, are you, Simon?
- 17:10Speaker 20: Well, let me tell you, you just about scared the
- 17:12Speaker 20: wits out of poor Miss Kane here.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Shame on you, Simon.
- 17:15Speaker 22: Shame on you.
- 17:16Speaker 12: It was only old Bushy Taylor, Master.
- 17:19Speaker 5: Me a soul rot.
- 17:21Speaker 4: I swear by the shade of Finn the Cool, Master Billy,
- 17:24Speaker 4: I'm not poaching your legal game. No, it was only
- 17:27Speaker 4: that no-good rabbit-stealing fox what brings me here.
- 17:30Speaker 20: Please, Master Billy.
- 17:32Speaker 1: For the memory of your late great father, God rest
- 17:35Speaker 1: his soul.
- 17:36Speaker 13: Don't turn me over to the bulls.
- 17:38Speaker 16: They just spend so much time on... Since everybody else
- 17:43Speaker 16: sounds like they kind of liked it, things that bothered
- 17:45Speaker 16: me is they spent so much time on a short movie...
- 17:49Speaker 16: Like the hunter that was trying to figure out what
- 17:52Speaker 16: was in the woods.
- 17:53Speaker 5: There was a really bad Scottish or Ireland, whatever.
- 17:56Speaker 11: Right, Irish accent. First of all, no one in this
- 17:59Speaker 11: movie was Irish and they were supposed to be in Ireland.
- 18:02Speaker 11: That fucking bothered me. That's fun. You couldn't see anything.
- 18:07Speaker 11: I mean, I know it's produced by Roger Corman. But
- 18:11Speaker 11: you spent five minutes on this guy crawling through the
- 18:14Speaker 11: woods trying to figure out what this is. And it
- 18:17Speaker 11: really went nowhere. That whole scene, there was no reason
- 18:20Speaker 11: for it. Or the old man washing the car.
- 18:23Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 18:24Speaker 11: There was so much. I was like, is this filler?
- 18:26Speaker 11: Does somebody not know how to write? So, yeah, I
- 18:28Speaker 11: hated it.
- 18:30Speaker 15: Well, I'm pretty sure the only reason they shot it
- 18:33Speaker 15: there was because wasn't that where... Roger Corman was already
- 18:37Speaker 15: shooting a movie and he produced this one.
- 18:38Speaker 1: That's pretty much how most of his shoots went.
- 18:42Speaker 15: I forget what movie he was shooting at the time,
- 18:43Speaker 15: but he let Francis Ford Coppola use half of his cast.
- 18:46Speaker 15: So it's like in between breaks of the movie that.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Was it The Terror? Because both the guys on this
- 18:52Speaker 1: are also questionably credited as directing and or creating The Terror.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Which is another one of those that got shot because
- 19:01Speaker 1: they had three extra days on a set. And they
- 19:02Speaker 1: were just like, here, go to town. So... That's just
- 19:06Speaker 1: kind of how Corman operates, which... Yeah.
- 19:09Speaker 5: One thing I found interesting about this movie is that it's, like,
- 19:14Speaker 5: 75% internal monologue, which is just, like, not a lot
- 19:18Speaker 5: of movies do that, so it was very weird. And
- 19:20Speaker 5: it was interesting. It wasn't extremely fascinating in this movie's case, but,
- 19:26Speaker 5: I mean, I think in a different, better, more, like,
- 19:29Speaker 5: better written movie, it could be really... Her cleavage is
- 19:33Speaker 5: very distracting. Yeah, it is.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Wait, who is this? Is this a... It's like a... Oh, yeah, Mila.
- 19:39Speaker 5: It's a cruise ship kind of cleavage.
- 19:42Speaker 8: Cleavage is a cruise ship.
- 19:45Speaker 15: She's got big flower-shaped nipples trying to escape from her.
- 19:50Speaker 11: Like that that's What did they say on Signing Out Live?
- 20:04Speaker 11: I'm Mila Herkoudis.
- 20:07Speaker 8: Classy.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it is classy. Right up our alley.
- 20:09Speaker 18: I'll pack the things he would have taken.
- 20:12Speaker 19: A suit.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Some shirts. I've finally rid of him.
- 20:17Speaker 18: I know I can handle his mother without him around.
- 20:22Speaker 18: I know I can handle his mother without him around.
- 20:27Speaker 18: She's half crazy anyway. I can get rid of her,
- 20:31Speaker 18: one way or the other. I'd better watch out for
- 20:34Speaker 18: his brothers, though. Especially the older one, Richard.
- 20:42Speaker 1: So, you're talking about the internal monologue on the blonde chick?
- 20:45Speaker 12: Everybody.
- 20:45Speaker 5: Even the mother has it.
- 20:46Speaker 1: See, that's what I was thinking. It's weird that it
- 20:49Speaker 1: jumps character. Usually you get that with one character throughout
- 20:53Speaker 1: the movie, or like a... faceless voiceover that kind of
- 20:57Speaker 1: wraps things up or something. But to be in the
- 21:00Speaker 1: head of different people in the same movie is kind
- 21:03Speaker 1: of weird, actually.
- 21:03Speaker 8: Right.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I don't think you ever get in the head of
- 21:06Speaker 1: the brothers. No. Yeah, just the women.
- 21:11Speaker 6: And the doctor, maybe?
- 21:12Speaker 1: I can't remember if the doctor. Yeah, he was... Usually
- 21:17Speaker 1: everybody likes him from what I've seen. He's like the
- 21:19Speaker 1: big name in it. I mean, he's also in Clockwork Orange.
- 21:23Speaker 1: So he's kind of their big star, I guess, if
- 21:25Speaker 1: you want to call it. I don't know. William Campbell
- 21:29Speaker 1: was in a lot of stuff, too.
- 21:31Speaker 19: Yeah, he.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I don't know. He did a little bit of overacting.
- 21:35Speaker 23: Yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 1: See, that's what I thought. Everybody really liked him. I
- 21:38Speaker 1: was like, he's kind of overselling this crazy doctor thing.
- 21:41Speaker 1: I really... Yeah, I like the brothers. I thought both
- 21:44Speaker 1: the brothers, especially the younger one. I think the younger
- 21:46Speaker 1: one definitely....
- 21:48Speaker 5: Billy.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Yeah, Billy is the sort of messed up kid.
- 21:52Speaker 8: See, I paid attention to you.
- 21:53Speaker 5: I said wait.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Oh, wait, wait. You can do that on movies? I
- 21:59Speaker 1: watch mine online.
- 22:01Speaker 11: You can watch it on YouTube. And I fell asleep
- 22:04Speaker 11: during the commercial. That's how tired I was. So, the
- 22:08Speaker 11: 15-second commercial.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Well, I don't know. I think what works... on this
- 22:13Speaker 1: is mostly, and maybe some of it stems from it
- 22:16Speaker 1: just being super low budget, but I think it almost
- 22:18Speaker 1: works to its advantage. Just again, it's an atmosphere thing.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I think it's kind of creepy. Some of it is
- 22:25Speaker 1: hard to see, but again, when you're dealing with the
- 22:27Speaker 1: limited budget that they were, that doesn't surprise me. And
- 22:29Speaker 1: a lot of night shoots, which is usually a bad
- 22:32Speaker 1: idea when you've got limited budget, but still, I think
- 22:35Speaker 1: it comes through as this really atmospheric kind of thing.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I think it, which works with, you know, the location and,
- 22:43Speaker 1: I think a lot of that is the visual stuff
- 22:46Speaker 1: is kind of what works. And I think you can
- 22:47Speaker 1: actually see it being Coppola. It's like you can actually see,
- 22:52Speaker 1: especially for this, it's, again, arguable whether this is his
- 22:55Speaker 1: first movie. This is certainly one of his first movies.
- 22:57Speaker 1: And for it to be this early in his career,
- 22:59Speaker 1: you can already see how well he can just stage shots.
- 23:03Speaker 1: I mean, just basic stuff like the way that he
- 23:05Speaker 1: sets up a scene or the way that he puts
- 23:07Speaker 1: things in frame is already kind of, pretty impressive for
- 23:10Speaker 1: somebody as early on as he was in his career.
- 23:13Speaker 1: It doesn't feel like somebody stumbling through a shoot. It
- 23:16Speaker 1: already feels like somebody who's at least done enough to
- 23:19Speaker 1: know basic setup, and on top of that has some
- 23:22Speaker 1: creative stuff along the way. Yeah, and that first scene
- 23:25Speaker 1: when he's On top of the dock.
- 23:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:28Speaker 11: That's what I was going to say. You know, there's
- 23:29Speaker 11: no other place. You know, why would you think to
- 23:31Speaker 11: shoot that up there?
- 23:32Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 23:32Speaker 1: That's a pretty good shot.
- 23:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 23:34Speaker 5: I had high hopes for the movie going into that. Yeah.
- 23:37Speaker 5: That's interesting.
- 23:38Speaker 11: And the underwater shots were ones that I did like.
- 23:42Speaker 11: Because you could see, you know, you're not going to
- 23:45Speaker 11: be able to see underwater at night. But you could
- 23:47Speaker 11: see enough and there was enough lighting there. other than
- 23:51Speaker 11: I couldn't figure out what she saw. That was my problem.
- 23:54Speaker 11: I was like, oh, there's this big reveal, big shock,
- 23:57Speaker 11: but you can't figure out what she's seen.
- 23:59Speaker 1: I kind of saw what it was, but I wasn't
- 24:02Speaker 1: sure if there was something else going on that she
- 24:04Speaker 1: was so freaked out by, which, as it turns out,
- 24:06Speaker 1: I guess not. They made it seem like there was,
- 24:09Speaker 1: the way they presented.
- 24:10Speaker 6: It, but.
- 24:11Speaker 1: That was one of the things I was going to mention, too,
- 24:13Speaker 1: is the fact that they had underwater shots. I mean,
- 24:16Speaker 1: in something this low budget, and again, being a director
- 24:19Speaker 1: who barely knows what the hell they're doing, I sure
- 24:22Speaker 1: as hell wouldn't want to be shooting underwater shots, especially
- 24:25Speaker 1: in my first movie.
- 24:27Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 24:27Speaker 5: She saw the girl under the water.
- 24:28Speaker 8: I thought that was why she got so freaked out.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that's what it was.
- 24:31Speaker 15: Was it the girl?
- 24:31Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it's the tomb. It's her little headstone.
- 24:34Speaker 5: No, it's the tombstone, but I thought the doll looked
- 24:36Speaker 5: like the girl. I think so.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Yeah. I thought she saw the girl. Okay, that would
- 24:39Speaker 1: make more sense. But it was also kind of moving, too.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I think that was the water, but it kind of
- 24:45Speaker 1: looked very zombie-like that first time I saw it, which
- 24:48Speaker 1: matched her freaking out. It had a weird, creepy busting
- 24:53Speaker 1: on out of the tombstone there, so I don't know.
- 24:56Speaker 5: I wonder if Tom Petty liked this movie. There's a
- 25:00Speaker 5: line in it, in one of his songs.
- 25:04Speaker 1: What?
- 25:04Speaker 15: He was talking about the girl that they brought down,
- 25:06Speaker 15: and she's like, especially with an American girl, you can
- 25:09Speaker 15: tell she was raised on promises.
- 25:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I do.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Remember that now. Yeah, that's right. I thought it was
- 25:16Speaker 1: Last Dance with Mary Jean. That's all about a dead blonde.
- 25:19Speaker 5: Girl, isn't it?
- 25:20Speaker 1: Right. Maybe he took it. Maybe he loves this movie
- 25:23Speaker 1: and all of his songs are based on this movie.
- 25:25Speaker 5: That line was pretty much ripped right out of that movie.
- 25:28Speaker 14: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:29Speaker 8: So I'm a completely random thing.
- 25:31Speaker 11: She was just thinking on a higher level than we
- 25:34Speaker 11: are right now.
- 25:35Speaker 1: As I watched it, I'm like, oh my god! She
- 25:37Speaker 1: turned to me and goes... She goes, isn't that Tom Petty?
- 25:40Speaker 8: And I was like.
- 25:41Speaker 1: You're like, what? You're like....
- 25:45Speaker 5: I had to wake him up. I did that once.
- 25:47Speaker 5: I was watching Holy Mountain, and there's a comic that
- 25:50Speaker 5: they put out on one of the random pieces in
- 25:52Speaker 5: that movie, which is the whole movie, but it's called
- 25:54Speaker 5: Against the Peruvian Monster, and I started screaming, that's a
- 25:59Speaker 5: Man Man song! That's a Man Man song! No one
- 26:04Speaker 5: knew who Man Man was other than.
- 26:07Speaker 20: Me, so.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Where are we?
- 26:09Speaker 5: I was watching it at a friend's house. No one
- 26:12Speaker 5: knew who Man-Man was.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Man-Man's pretty cool.
- 26:14Speaker 5: I know. I've listened to a lot of their stuff. Yeah,
- 26:17Speaker 5: they're really good.
- 26:17Speaker 18: I like them.
- 26:18Speaker 19: All right.
- 26:19Speaker 5: Tom Petty liked this movie.
- 26:20Speaker 1: What else? Tom Petty liked this movie.
- 26:22Speaker 6: I have to be.
- 26:23Speaker 11: You know, another thing that bothered me, and this is
- 26:25Speaker 11: a really little thing, and this must be a budget thing,
- 26:28Speaker 11: but it described the ceremony that they have every year
- 26:32Speaker 11: for the Daughters. and the black umbrellas that they have
- 26:35Speaker 11: to have, and one of the fucking umbrellas is white,
- 26:38Speaker 11: I'm like, you know, really, if you're writing it into
- 26:41Speaker 11: the script that it has to be black umbrellas, at
- 26:44Speaker 11: least make it black.
- 26:45Speaker 1: And it's not like it was like 50 black umbrellas.
- 26:47Speaker 1: You only had to come up with three. Come on, Frances.
- 26:50Speaker 5: Borrow one from someone.
- 26:52Speaker 1: The part I was awake for, too, is.
- 26:55Speaker 5: Like she passes out. They know she's going.
- 26:57Speaker 19: To pass out.
- 26:58Speaker 1: They know she's going to pass out. Why do they
- 27:00Speaker 1: fucking pass out?
- 27:00Speaker 8: I'm like, surprise.
- 27:01Speaker 1: You have to catch her ass.
- 27:03Speaker 5: You have to catch her.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Because they're fucking tired of catching her. Every damn year
- 27:07Speaker 1: she passes out. Oh, there goes mom.
- 27:08Speaker 12: Overdramatic.
- 27:09Speaker 11: That's why she doesn't want to give them any money
- 27:11Speaker 11: from the will if they won't catch her ass.
- 27:12Speaker 1: They won't catch her.
- 27:13Speaker 5: Six years now.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Well, she's passed out. She doesn't know they're not catching her.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I caught you. I had to lay you on the ground.
- 27:20Speaker 1: I just kept, I saw it lead up to that
- 27:22Speaker 1: and I was like, wait for it. Wait for it.
- 27:24Speaker 12: Bam.
- 27:25Speaker 1: There she goes.
- 27:25Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 27:28Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 27:29Speaker 1: And then I fell asleep.
- 27:30Speaker 15: And then I elbowed you and then I just gave,
- 27:32Speaker 15: I woke you up again when you started snoring.
- 27:34Speaker 3: I'm like, if you're not going to stay awake, can
- 27:36Speaker 3: you at least not fucking snore, Darian?
- 27:39Speaker 11: I also didn't like the cop out when he went
- 27:41Speaker 11: into town and they had one or two guys that
- 27:43Speaker 11: could actually sound like an Irish accent. And he goes, well,
- 27:46Speaker 11: that's you going to those American schools that you don't
- 27:48Speaker 11: sound Irish anymore.
- 27:49Speaker 3: I'm like, you don't.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Beat it out of you a little after a little education.
- 27:53Speaker 8: Once in a year, you still can't speak.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Yeah, sometimes.
- 27:56Speaker 11: I've heard better Irish accents than a used car salesman
- 28:00Speaker 11: on Channel 41 during St.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Paddy's Day. His accent was just, she even pointed out,
- 28:07Speaker 1: she was like, is he supposed to be Irish or Scottish?
- 28:10Speaker 5: His accent was as fake as his mustache.
- 28:12Speaker 1: It was Irish, right. Yeah.
- 28:15Speaker 5: His mustache was ridiculous, too.
- 28:18Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 28:19Speaker 5: The quarter vending machine.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, my mustache last week? That's true. This also
- 28:27Speaker 1: had some classy dialogue along the way. I was trying
- 28:31Speaker 1: to keep track of some of the really good ones. Like,
- 28:34Speaker 1: if you're going to be my wife, you'll be... Oh, yeah.
- 28:37Speaker 1: I wanted to remember that, even. It says, if you're
- 28:40Speaker 1: going to be my wife, you'll have to be one
- 28:42Speaker 1: of the trusty and silent type. Mm-hmm. Shut the fuck up, bitch.
- 28:46Speaker 1: That's right. Because she said, I thought you were going
- 28:48Speaker 1: to work today. You just shut up. I'll do what
- 28:51Speaker 1: I want.
- 28:52Speaker 5: Right.
- 28:52Speaker 1: And then, like the doctor, he told the woman to, like,
- 28:56Speaker 1: hurry up and get her lunch or whatever the fuck
- 28:59Speaker 1: he did. And then he said, or I wish five
- 29:00Speaker 1: years of spinsterhood on you. I was like, wow.
- 29:04Speaker 5: That was harsh.
- 29:06Speaker 14: Right.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Isn't it bad enough this chick's a maid?
- 29:08Speaker 5: You want to know what part pissed me off?
- 29:10Speaker 8: Oh, God. Alright, when the blonde.
- 29:13Speaker 5: Decides she wants to.
- 29:14Speaker 15: You know, fuck with people and she takes the little
- 29:16Speaker 15: dolls and she ties them to a wrench or whatever.
- 29:19Speaker 5: Why didn't she just throw them in the pond? Why
- 29:22Speaker 5: did she have to strip down?
- 29:24Speaker 1: I think you answered your question right there. Really, that's
- 29:27Speaker 1: just not practical.
- 29:28Speaker 8: Just, you know, get a wine and throw them. Like,
- 29:30Speaker 8: fling that shit in there.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Well, I thought she was trying to keep them underwater.
- 29:34Speaker 18: Now what?
- 29:34Speaker 8: She kind of tied them to a wrench. They're going
- 29:35Speaker 8: to sink anyway.
- 29:36Speaker 1: What killed me is the fact that they just magically
- 29:39Speaker 1: popped up at the right time when they were standing
- 29:40Speaker 1: on the dock.
- 29:41Speaker 5: They were tied in a rope.
- 29:44Speaker 1: She put something on the rope to eat through it,
- 29:47Speaker 1: whatever that was. Yeah, I was still trying to figure
- 29:49Speaker 1: out what she was doing there and how that was
- 29:51Speaker 1: going to work.
- 29:52Speaker 11: It was Coppola's first writing job, supposedly, so he.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Yeah. He's like, yeah, it's something that eats through it underwater.
- 30:01Speaker 1: It's a rope eater. You buy it at the hardware store.
- 30:03Speaker 11: And she timed it so it would pop up at
- 30:04Speaker 11: lunch that they were having out there the next day.
- 30:06Speaker 1: She planned all this out. She's an evil genius, I
- 30:08Speaker 1: tell you. Right, right.
- 30:09Speaker 8: But the fact that she had to strip down.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Well, yeah. Once again, I mean, this is a B-movie.
- 30:14Speaker 1: They knew what they were bringing in. Her underpants changed colors.
- 30:17Speaker 1: I did notice when she got in the water. I
- 30:19Speaker 1: was like, now her panties don't match her bra. They
- 30:23Speaker 1: were hyper-colored. They were hyper-colored. Nice.
- 30:28Speaker 5: I don't ever notice things like that. I don't, I
- 30:30Speaker 5: didn't notice the, the white umbrella or her black to white.
- 30:33Speaker 1: How about the, how about the boom mic dipping into
- 30:35Speaker 1: the scene?
- 30:37Speaker 5: See, I didn't either.
- 30:38Speaker 12: That's the thing.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I was like, you know, I don't notice that a
- 30:40Speaker 1: lot of the time, but then, you know, we, we
- 30:42Speaker 1: also had a copy of the Elvira version where she
- 30:45Speaker 1: stops to point out the fact that the boom mic
- 30:47Speaker 1: comes crashing on into the scene.
- 30:49Speaker 5: I don't ever notice things like that. Like for instance,
- 30:51Speaker 5: the other day, um, I was at work and Indiana
- 30:54Speaker 5: Jones happened to be on the TV.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Which one?
- 30:57Speaker 5: Uh, Temple of Duma thing. Alright.
- 30:59Speaker 1: That's Indiana Jones.
- 31:00Speaker 5: When's the new one or anything like that? And... Someone
- 31:04Speaker 5: at the bar yells, monkey penis!
- 31:08Speaker 1: And made us rewind. This wasn't you?
- 31:10Speaker 5: No, it wasn't me. Made us rewind it and put
- 31:13Speaker 5: it in slow motion so you could see the little
- 31:15Speaker 5: tip of the monkey's penis. And everyone was chanting, monkey penis!
- 31:19Speaker 5: Monkey penis!
- 31:20Speaker 1: It was really weird. Yeah, I'm staying away from your word.
- 31:25Speaker 1: That was the special moment. Oh, God. What kind of
- 31:31Speaker 1: pasta do you work that into?
- 31:32Speaker 11: What's up with Marky Mark and Hugh Jackman?
- 31:40Speaker 18: Wow.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Lord. So, I don't know. I still think it's shot
- 31:46Speaker 1: pretty well. I think the shots of the creepy toys,
- 31:50Speaker 1: that was like foggy. The monkey with the axe. That
- 31:53Speaker 1: was the creepiest part.
- 31:55Speaker 5: That's what made me think of Alfred Hitchcock. That's the
- 31:57Speaker 5: first part that I realized that when he's like, hitting
- 32:00Speaker 5: the axe, and it's going, dun, dun, you know, the
- 32:04Speaker 5: music is falling in line with this.
- 32:06Speaker 11: Some of the, some of the soundtrack was very cliche,
- 32:09Speaker 11: and I mean, you could tell, it's like, okay, give
- 32:11Speaker 11: it your horror soundtrack, and, you know, from the back,
- 32:14Speaker 11: in the background, maybe it's cliche, since it's been so long,
- 32:18Speaker 11: but it sounded like, the spooky parts of Scooby-Doo, you know,
- 32:22Speaker 11: and I, You know, it's the creepy old castle.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:27Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 32:29Speaker 6: So.
- 32:30Speaker 1: What was the room?
- 32:32Speaker 11: I mean, the kids' room that she had to crawl
- 32:34Speaker 11: up into.
- 32:35Speaker 1: What was that about? There were a.
- 32:37Speaker 5: Couple rooms like that. When she went and saw her.
- 32:40Speaker 15: when the one girl followed her husband after remember when
- 32:43Speaker 15: he started yelling at her.
- 32:44Speaker 24: You weren't supposed to follow me yeah i don't know
- 32:49Speaker 24: what that one the other one i thought she was
- 32:50Speaker 24: like in the attic getting the stuff but yeah the
- 32:53Speaker 24: other one i and then like why are they standing
- 32:55Speaker 24: there but they don't notice that right the body laying
- 32:59Speaker 24: there because if it's the first setup again they're doing
- 33:01Speaker 24: the fake out so you almost think they're part of
- 33:04Speaker 24: it and they know that she's there but then going
- 33:06Speaker 24: back and watch it i'm like They're standing right next
- 33:08Speaker 24: to her.
- 33:09Speaker 1: It's not even like there's anything blocking it. There's like
- 33:11Speaker 1: sheets and stuff thrown around there, but it's not like
- 33:13Speaker 1: there's a wall. It's pretty much within view of where
- 33:16Speaker 1: they're standing, but they don't notice this dead girl laying there.
- 33:19Speaker 5: I guess they just happen to not look to their left.
- 33:21Speaker 6: I guess.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Once again, there's a lot of convenient situations that pop
- 33:25Speaker 1: up in this movie, but I don't know. I still
- 33:28Speaker 1: think it's pretty entertaining for what it is. I think
- 33:31Speaker 1: it definitely, I mean, a lot of people say it is, again,
- 33:35Speaker 1: they talk about it constantly ripping off Hitchcock, There's also
- 33:38Speaker 1: a lot of William Castle-esque stuff that they sort of
- 33:41Speaker 1: steal from. But to me, it's like you've got... How
- 33:45Speaker 1: can you really lose out on this? Because you've got
- 33:48Speaker 1: not only Coppola directing it, but it's produced by Roger
- 33:51Speaker 1: Corman and the assistant and arguably co-creator of this is
- 33:56Speaker 1: Jack Hill. So, I mean, you're going in with this
- 33:58Speaker 1: drive-in movie dream team here. So it's like, really, you've
- 34:02Speaker 1: got to come out with something that's at least pretty fun.
- 34:04Speaker 1: And I felt like it was. I mean, it's... it's
- 34:07Speaker 1: definitely a lot, you know, the first half is pretty
- 34:10Speaker 1: familiar again, especially three years after psycho. But I think
- 34:14Speaker 1: that second half, it sort of comes into its own.
- 34:16Speaker 1: And I think it really does sort of do its
- 34:19Speaker 1: own thing at that point. I mean, I can see,
- 34:22Speaker 1: I mean, Roger Corman was always one that was like,
- 34:24Speaker 1: you know, he knew what he was doing at that point.
- 34:27Speaker 1: It's like, he was definitely not much like the William
- 34:29Speaker 1: Castle setup. It's like, You can base it on a gimmick.
- 34:32Speaker 1: You can go with a poster shot or just a
- 34:35Speaker 1: concept of something, and then you base the whole movie
- 34:37Speaker 1: around that. But I think what usually put him above–
- 34:40Speaker 1: and William Castle made some fun movies. But what I
- 34:42Speaker 1: think Roger Corman would actually then give somebody who had
- 34:46Speaker 1: a little talent the reins and let them do something
- 34:49Speaker 1: creative with it. And I think this one still has
- 34:52Speaker 1: a lot of creative shots to it. I think the
- 34:54Speaker 1: last half of the plot– It has moments where it's confusing,
- 34:58Speaker 1: but I think in the parts that you do kind
- 35:00Speaker 1: of piece together, it's still a little more original, or
- 35:03Speaker 1: at least at the time, I could say. Once you
- 35:05Speaker 1: get away from the stuff that is stole, the last
- 35:07Speaker 1: half of it, the wrap-up of it, is something I
- 35:09Speaker 1: don't remember seeing a lot of times at that point.
- 35:13Speaker 11: I'm not going to completely panic, because there were moments
- 35:15Speaker 11: where I was like, okay, I do want to know
- 35:17Speaker 11: who it is.
- 35:18Speaker 1: I had a feeling that it was the younger brother, but.
- 35:21Speaker 6: Sorry.
- 35:22Speaker 13: We already.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Totally spoiled. I was just going to go there anyway. Because,
- 35:25Speaker 1: I mean, it really is like... They do set it
- 35:28Speaker 1: up where... I mean... because that's the thing everybody uh
- 35:31Speaker 1: in you know reading stuff online everybody's like oh they
- 35:34Speaker 1: set it up like it's gonna be the doctor i
- 35:36Speaker 1: never for a minute thought it was too obvious that
- 35:38Speaker 1: it was gonna be the doctor it was well i
- 35:40Speaker 1: mean even in the setup i was like it's got
- 35:41Speaker 1: to be one of the brothers you know and and
- 35:44Speaker 1: the way they shot it almost made it look like
- 35:46Speaker 1: the older brother the whole time so i'm like well
- 35:48Speaker 1: they're almost setting it up too easy for it to
- 35:50Speaker 1: be right and then he was kind of aggressive and
- 35:52Speaker 1: yeah he was aggressive and then they set that thing
- 35:54Speaker 1: up the shot of him and her and they're like
- 35:57Speaker 1: they'll you know never stop us now and so they
- 35:59Speaker 1: really are red herring you on this like older brother
- 36:02Speaker 1: so I'm like well I guess then it's probably gonna
- 36:04Speaker 1: be the younger brother right you rip off the mask
- 36:06Speaker 1: and it's you know yeah the younger brother by then
- 36:09Speaker 1: it's not really a shot you crazy kid you know
- 36:13Speaker 1: I would've got away with it too yeah.
- 36:15Speaker 5: Um See, one thing, I mean, I kind of stopped
- 36:18Speaker 5: paying attention towards the end of the movie. Or towards
- 36:21Speaker 5: the middle of the movie.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Especially since you reviewed it. Yeah.
- 36:25Speaker 5: And did it ever matter that the first brother died?
- 36:30Speaker 5: Did anyone ever notice or care about that?
- 36:32Speaker 14: No.
- 36:33Speaker 5: No.
- 36:33Speaker 1: It doesn't even come up.
- 36:35Speaker 5: That's what I was saying. That's weird that it was
- 36:38Speaker 5: such an integral part at the beginning of the movie
- 36:40Speaker 5: and you think that's going to lead to something that's
- 36:42Speaker 5: going to be this huge part of the plot, but no.
- 36:45Speaker 5: Even when they drain the lake, they don't find it,
- 36:47Speaker 5: do they?
- 36:47Speaker 8: No.
- 36:48Speaker 1: They've been eaten by fishes by then.
- 36:49Speaker 5: It was only like a day or two.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Was it that lake?
- 36:51Speaker 5: I thought it was somewhere else and she drove.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Or was it even in America? I was thinking that
- 36:59Speaker 1: she went to Ireland to be with his family.
- 37:01Speaker 5: See, that's what.
- 37:02Speaker 1: It said online, and it looks like... I was confused.
- 37:07Speaker 11: It looks like she was already visiting, because she even
- 37:09Speaker 11: says he had to leave. Almost like she's there, and
- 37:13Speaker 11: she says, so I'm going to stay for a while
- 37:16Speaker 11: since he had to leave.
- 37:17Speaker 1: This definitely has some confusing plot points along the way, Francis.
- 37:22Speaker 1: But I don't know. I think it's still... Definitely just
- 37:27Speaker 1: kind of creepy and atmospheric. And if you like movies
- 37:30Speaker 1: of this era, it's a lot slower paced than most
- 37:33Speaker 1: horror movies. Again, it's 1963. So there you go. And
- 37:36Speaker 1: there's no budget. But again, I think them trying to
- 37:40Speaker 1: play on that schlocky drive-in movie crowd, they also upped
- 37:43Speaker 1: the gore and horror as much as they could for 1963.
- 37:46Speaker 1: I mean, we do get a beheading in it. That's true.
- 37:51Speaker 1: A very clean beheading. Yeah. And just a And just
- 37:56Speaker 1: merciless axing that we really don't see. But he's just
- 37:59Speaker 1: wailing on her by the water there. Then she doesn't
- 38:03Speaker 1: seem to be all that messed up as he drags
- 38:04Speaker 1: her off. Right, she had a little bit of blood
- 38:06Speaker 1: on her shoulder. But that's still a creepy scene. That
- 38:08Speaker 1: shot of him picking her up and dragging her. Well,
- 38:11Speaker 1: her hands on the shore. Sorry to interrupt you.
- 38:14Speaker 5: Oh, it's okay.
- 38:15Speaker 8: Go ahead.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Her hands on the shore, muddy and reaching for it.
- 38:18Speaker 1: That was a good shot.
- 38:19Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 38:19Speaker 1: So, I mean, there's definitely a lot of redeeming qualities
- 38:22Speaker 1: to this movie. It's far from perfect, but... You know,
- 38:26Speaker 1: it's right out of the gate for Coppola, so, you know.
- 38:29Speaker 5: My favorite part of the whole movie, I think, and
- 38:30Speaker 5: this is probably really strange, but when he's dragging her
- 38:33Speaker 5: dead body through the woods, it was just so, like, realistic. Like,
- 38:38Speaker 5: normally when someone's being dragged, you can tell they're still alive,
- 38:41Speaker 5: but she was just so limp and so dead-looking. And
- 38:45Speaker 5: at that moment, I was like, wow, she's a pretty
- 38:46Speaker 5: good actress, you know?
- 38:48Speaker 1: Or they killed her. Or they really did. Or she
- 38:50Speaker 1: was on a lot of drugs. It was the 60s.
- 38:52Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 38:55Speaker 1: I think if nothing else, my favorite part probably was
- 38:58Speaker 1: just the use of this term, or this phrase, and
- 39:01Speaker 1: I really, if nothing else, hope that, you know, much
- 39:04Speaker 1: like the hunter out there, this becomes my goal in life.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Track down old bushy tail. That's right. And they don't
- 39:11Speaker 1: believe there's a bushy tail. I don't know why that
- 39:13Speaker 1: struck me so funny. Old bushy tail. Oh, I don't know.
- 39:18Speaker 6: Yeah, that was a dumb.
- 39:19Speaker 1: That was what... It was pointless. I didn't... They pretended
- 39:24Speaker 1: like he was an old man, He was 30, probably,
- 39:28Speaker 1: with a mustache. He's been here for years. He's the
- 39:32Speaker 1: last man in Ireland that still... No, he's not. No.
- 39:36Speaker 1: He doesn't have an Irish accent. I don't know. That's okay.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Maybe it was late and I was tired.
- 39:42Speaker 11: That might have been the reason why I really didn't
- 39:44Speaker 11: like it.
- 39:45Speaker 1: I don't know. I ended up liking it a lot
- 39:47Speaker 1: more than I thought. I figured it was going to
- 39:49Speaker 1: be super cheap, and I was afraid it wasn't even
- 39:51Speaker 1: going to have enough plot to piece something together going
- 39:54Speaker 1: into it. So the fact that it did have some
- 39:57Speaker 1: redeeming qualities, and definitely visually it's got a lot to offer,
- 40:00Speaker 1: that yeah, I ended up liking it a lot more
- 40:03Speaker 1: than kind of expected going in.
- 40:05Speaker 5: Wait, why was it called DaVinci 13?
- 40:07Speaker 1: That's arguable. Technically, it was just going to be Dementia,
- 40:11Speaker 1: and then there was already a movie called Dementia, so
- 40:13Speaker 1: they had to slap something on there so they could
- 40:15Speaker 1: call it that. I don't know. Unlucky 13. There's not
- 40:19Speaker 1: really any reason. I mean, Dementia, I guess you can
- 40:21Speaker 1: come up with some craziness, but, you know. 13, it
- 40:25Speaker 1: just got slapped on there so they could have a
- 40:26Speaker 1: title and not get into legal trouble or not be
- 40:30Speaker 1: able to distribute it. Yeah, you know, stuff like that.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Just like a letter in Part 6. There you go.
- 40:35Speaker 1: A letter in Part 6. Man, I hated part 12.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Dementia 12 sucked.
- 40:47Speaker 5: I think there's a dessert.
- 40:47Speaker 1: There's still dessert. What is it? Pork pie. Mincemeat pie.
- 40:54Speaker 1: It's like mincemeat, but it's barbecued pulled pork.
- 40:58Speaker 5: Should we go ahead and leave before dessert? Yeah.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Finally, no pastry crack for you. Too bad. You said
- 41:06Speaker 1: you don't want any. More for us.
- 41:07Speaker 5: I want pastry crack.
- 41:08Speaker 1: I really want pastry crack. Alright, so that pretty much
- 41:14Speaker 1: rounds out Dementia 13. So, we will take a break
- 41:17Speaker 1: here and come back with dessert, pastry crack, and the
- 41:19Speaker 1: rest of the show. I listened to pastry crack last year.
- 41:24Speaker 1: I don't even know what it is. I don't know
- 41:25Speaker 1: what it is.
- 41:31Speaker 7: Sweet Kathleen, the match of the day.
- 41:34Speaker 12: Sweet Kathleen, the match.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Of the day.
- 41:36Speaker 5: No.
- 41:38Speaker 12: Axe murderer.
- 41:39Speaker 8: No.
- 41:40Speaker 12: Axe murderer.
- 41:41Speaker 18: No.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Axe murderer. Conrad, Conrad.
- 41:45Speaker 12: Yeah, I heard.
- 41:47Speaker 1: You drown in the pond.
- 41:50Speaker 12: Yeah, I heard you.
- 41:51Speaker 7: Drown in the pond.
- 41:53Speaker 5: Sweet Kathleen, the match of the day.
- 41:55Speaker 7: Sweet Kathleen, the match of the day.
- 41:58Speaker 8: No.
- 41:59Speaker 18: Axe murderer.
- 42:23Speaker 19: Popcorn freshly popped and buttered.
- 42:26Speaker 12: Look good? Sure, it looks good and it tastes even better.
- 42:30Speaker 5: Get some now. 3D.
- 42:35Speaker 4: The movie fantasy of yesterday is now the terrifying film
- 42:38Speaker 4: experience of the future. For technical reasons, the preview you
- 42:42Speaker 4: are about to see is not three-dimensional. Be assured, Parasite
- 42:48Speaker 4: is the most gripping and frightening movie you will ever see.
- 42:51Speaker 4: And in 3D, you will be part of the terror.
- 42:56Speaker 4: You are about to witness the future.
- 42:58Speaker 15: Be warned.
- 42:59Speaker 4: It is a shocking sight. 3D, the ultimate sensation of
- 43:04Speaker 4: visual art, now creates the newest, most terrifying form of fear, parasite.
- 43:11Speaker 4: That thing on your stomach.
- 43:13Speaker 6: A new strain of parasite.
- 43:15Speaker 3: When it reproduces, it will cast millions of microscopic spores
- 43:19Speaker 3: into the air.
- 43:20Speaker 12: Just move your legs towards me real slow. Real slow.
- 43:26Speaker 4: Experience the living, breathing, terrifying vision of modern 3D.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Parasite.
- 43:34Speaker 4: You have only seen the preview. In 3D, you will
- 43:38Speaker 4: live the film. Parasite. The first futuristic monster movie in 3D. Parasite.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Choosing a family movie is tough. It seems like all
- 43:51Speaker 2: Hollywood can do is make mindless drivel that rots kids' brains.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Who wants to see a movie like.
- 43:56Speaker 25: What my dad watched when he was a kid. Those
- 43:59Speaker 25: films are so boring and the special effects are horrible.
- 44:02Speaker 25: The movies he grew up with are.
- 44:04Speaker 5: Sometimes a big surprise.
- 44:05Speaker 3: I at times feel uncomfortable watching movies I loved when
- 44:09Speaker 3: I was younger with my own kids because I forgot
- 44:11Speaker 3: how much cursing, sex, and violence they showed back then.
- 44:14Speaker 25: All we want to do is watch a fun movie
- 44:16Speaker 25: that we all like.
- 44:17Speaker 2: That's why we created Family Movie Night. A podcast where
- 44:21Speaker 2: we review movies from an adult perspective.
- 44:24Speaker 25: And from a kid's perspective.
- 44:25Speaker 2: So you can find movies for your whole family to enjoy.
- 44:28Speaker 25: We review new movies.
- 44:30Speaker 5: Old childhood favorites.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Cult and foreign films.
- 44:33Speaker 25: And Godzilla. So check out Family Movie Night on the
- 44:37Speaker 25: web at fmnpodcast.com or find us on iTunes.
- 44:40Speaker 7: Bye.
- 44:41Speaker 12: Sweet dreams.
- 44:49Speaker 20: This is John Wilson, the creator of the Razzie Awards,
- 45:03Speaker 20: and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.

- 45:17Speaker 2: You haven't seen enough movies.
- 45:19Speaker 13: All of life's riddles are answered in the movies.
- 45:23Speaker 4: And now, on with the show.
- 45:37Speaker 13: Matinees, watching all the movies What a year 2010 has
- 45:46Speaker 13: been Got to see Mark Wahlberg as a fighter Christian
- 45:53Speaker 13: Bale so thin Who can dream, having seen Inception.
- 46:02Speaker 1: Only wish it had been 3D What was this for?
- 46:09Speaker 1: I don't know. I still haven't seen that movie. My
- 46:12Speaker 1: kid loves that fucking movie. I just can't take her
- 46:15Speaker 1: big fucking head. I don't want to look at it
- 46:17Speaker 1: for however long she's on screen. Every head is really
- 46:21Speaker 1: that big. It's like Colin Quinn.
- 46:26Speaker 8: He died.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Colin Quinn died?
- 46:29Speaker 5: A couple years ago, didn't he?
- 46:31Speaker 8: Really?
- 46:31Speaker 12: That's sad.
- 46:32Speaker 5: He does look like Colin Quinn, though. Maybe I'm thinking
- 46:34Speaker 5: of somebody else. Is he the MTV guy?
- 46:36Speaker 1: No, that's Ken Ober. Ken Ober died, wasn't it?
- 46:39Speaker 5: He was on Who's Line Is It Anyway.
- 46:41Speaker 1: You're thinking of Colin Lockery. No, I'm talking about Colin Quinn,
- 46:44Speaker 1: Saturday Night Live.
- 46:46Speaker 26: Oh, yeah.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Remote control. Remote control, exactly. He was a stand-up, and yeah,
- 46:50Speaker 1: as far as I know, he's still alive.
- 46:51Speaker 8: No, the remote control guy.
- 46:52Speaker 5: I thought he died.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Ken Ober died.
- 46:53Speaker 14: The host.
- 46:54Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 46:54Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 46:56Speaker 1: He died, which that did suck. I was confused.
- 46:58Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 46:59Speaker 1: It's okay. But Kari's okay. Thank God. As long as
- 47:03Speaker 1: Kari's okay.
- 47:06Speaker 5: Who?
- 47:06Speaker 1: The second female dancer. Kari were, yeah. I was a
- 47:10Speaker 1: little more partial to Marisol.
- 47:12Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 47:13Speaker 1: Marisol was so goth. She was gonna be goth one day.
- 47:18Speaker 1: She seemed like a square, really.
- 47:20Speaker 24: Really?
- 47:20Speaker 1: I thought she was like, yeah, I could... my hair
- 47:23Speaker 1: that's just because she's a slacker it was everybody in
- 47:26Speaker 1: MTV at that point I guess so and forever really
- 47:31Speaker 1: how's Lisa Marie doing I wonder she got a really
- 47:35Speaker 1: cool husband yeah join the convention next month you can
- 47:38Speaker 1: ask her I will.
- 47:39Speaker 10: Because you know what I think she's pretty hot I
- 47:42Speaker 10: think she's pretty awesome what I'm just saying I think
- 47:47Speaker 10: she's awesome I don't understand why Tim Burton I mean
- 47:49Speaker 10: they seem like a pretty decent couple.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Together but you know whatever She should punch.
- 47:53Speaker 5: Homewrecker!
- 47:55Speaker 1: Yeah, she should get a fight.
- 47:57Speaker 8: Homewrecker's ugly. Okay.
- 47:59Speaker 5: Fight him.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Bust her up. Yeah. What was this for? Yay! Who won?
- 48:09Speaker 1: Inception won, it looks like.
- 48:11Speaker 8: Hey!
- 48:11Speaker 1: Classes don't do you any good when they're on top
- 48:13Speaker 1: of your head. Yeah, that's kind of tool-ish. I'll pull
- 48:17Speaker 1: them down when I get ready to read my acceptance speech.
- 48:22Speaker 11: No, he won't.
- 48:23Speaker 5: No.
- 48:23Speaker 14: Oh, yeah.
- 48:23Speaker 1: It's like I got shades on. Wally Pfister. At least
- 48:29Speaker 1: it's not Willie Pfister.
- 48:31Speaker 5: It's his twin brother. Willie Pfister?
- 48:33Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 48:40Speaker 5: Holy shit.
- 48:42Speaker 1: Is she related to Jay Leno? She's the moon man
- 48:47Speaker 1: from the Mac Tonight. The Mac Tonight.
- 48:49Speaker 5: The McDLT.
- 48:49Speaker 1: Show our age. I remember that. Wally Pfister, Brian. What?
- 49:07Speaker 1: What's the dude's name? The photographer on Inception. Yeah, he
- 49:13Speaker 1: made fun of it. Academy Award winner, Wally Pfister. Somebody
- 49:17Speaker 1: needs to smack his parents.
- 49:18Speaker 5: You know, my best friend growing up, his name was
- 49:21Speaker 5: Dustin Fist. Isn't that the coolest name ever?
- 49:24Speaker 12: No.
- 49:25Speaker 11: I like Wally Pfister better.
- 49:29Speaker 23: What was the names from that vampire book you were
- 49:32Speaker 23: reading to me last night?
- 49:33Speaker 1: Offline, what was that guy's name? I don't remember. Fucking, like,
- 49:38Speaker 1: Brock Stonehenge or some bullshit like that. Written by, like,
- 49:42Speaker 1: Nina Bangs. Nina Bangs, yeah.
- 49:44Speaker 23: It was some vampire sex book. Basically, it was like,
- 49:48Speaker 23: it's like.
- 49:48Speaker 1: The old Fabio books.
- 49:49Speaker 5: Rafe, it was Rafe.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Rafe, Rafe Finestone or Rafe.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Something stone. Cockstone.
- 50:00Speaker 26: Right?
- 50:02Speaker 12: Cockstone?
- 50:02Speaker 6: I know.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Cockstone. I think I've seen those movies, but they're in
- 50:05Speaker 1: a special room at the store.
- 50:07Speaker 11: Speaking of, last night, I met a woman who writes erotica.
- 50:11Speaker 1: For a living. This isn't just a fan page. Yeah,
- 50:16Speaker 1: you're a fan.
- 50:16Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 50:17Speaker 1: When you tell your kids you do, that's.
- 50:19Speaker 5: What I'm like.
- 50:20Speaker 1: I write adult. Stuff. Something.
- 50:23Speaker 12: Oh.
- 50:24Speaker 23: That's about as bad as us driving that huge sign
- 50:29Speaker 23: that's on the side of the road when you're heading
- 50:30Speaker 23: up I-65 right when you cross the bridge and you
- 50:33Speaker 23: go into Indiana.
- 50:34Speaker 1: And there's the XXX bookstore.
- 50:36Speaker 5: Toys! Adult toys.
- 50:38Speaker 1: And your kid's like, I don't know. I mean, that's
- 50:41Speaker 1: not that kind of toy store.
- 50:43Speaker 8: All right, boys, let me focus.
- 50:45Speaker 25: I can't deny the fact that you like me right now.
- 50:49Speaker 12: You like me.
- 50:50Speaker 1: You can react to something.
- 50:53Speaker 5: Can I just say something?
- 50:54Speaker 26: Alrighty.
- 50:55Speaker 5: I'm afraid of pigs. I think everyone knows this.
- 50:59Speaker 1: I didn't. You didn't?
- 51:00Speaker 20: No.
- 51:01Speaker 1: I thought it was butterflies that you were afraid of.
- 51:03Speaker 5: I'm afraid of butterflies and moths too. But I'm also
- 51:06Speaker 5: very afraid of pigs. I was attacked by a pig
- 51:10Speaker 5: once when I was younger.
- 51:11Speaker 1: I don't remember any of this nonsense.
- 51:13Speaker 20: And in the.
- 51:13Speaker 5: Last year, I don't know what it is, but something
- 51:17Speaker 5: rekindled that fear of pigs. So every time I see
- 51:21Speaker 5: a pig... Or a statue of a pig, or a
- 51:24Speaker 5: picture of a pig, or a cute little piggy bank,
- 51:27Speaker 5: or a cute little piggy salt and pepper shaker. I, like,
- 51:29Speaker 5: involuntarily shudder. I just, I do not like pigs. They,
- 51:33Speaker 5: I can eat the shit out of some bacon. But
- 51:37Speaker 5: a real pig, get it the fuck away from me.
- 51:40Speaker 26: Which, she brings this up because what you guys don't
- 51:42Speaker 26: know is, as the geek that I am, decided to
- 51:46Speaker 26: make a centerpiece, a display, if you will, for our
- 51:50Speaker 26: party here.
- 51:51Speaker 1: So I've purchased myself two wooden... Actually, we've decided they're
- 51:56Speaker 1: probably resin. But they look like they're wooden carved pigs.
- 52:00Speaker 1: And they're sitting here staring at Marlena right now because
- 52:03Speaker 1: I stuck them in the center of the table.
- 52:04Speaker 5: Yeah, but I covered their disgusting pig faces up in
- 52:08Speaker 5: dirty paper towels. Because I can't bear to look at
- 52:12Speaker 5: these gross fucking pigs.
- 52:14Speaker 1: But it makes it totally fit the mood because in
- 52:17Speaker 1: between them I jammed the Oscar that I won. Mm-hmm.
- 52:20Speaker 1: I won that as Best Actor for Maudie in 1955.
- 52:24Speaker 27: Everybody knows what won Best Fucking Picture in 1955.
- 52:28Speaker 1: All right, so, well, we've decided to come back, and
- 52:31Speaker 1: we've tied Misty and Jay up in the other room,
- 52:34Speaker 1: and we're keeping them at bay until they can come
- 52:37Speaker 1: back in the second half of the show. What we're
- 52:39Speaker 1: going to discuss, last night was the official ceremony for
- 52:44Speaker 1: the 31st Annual Golden Raspberry Awards.
- 52:47Speaker 12: Oh, yeah.
- 52:47Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 52:48Speaker 1: So I figured usually we do a little recap of
- 52:51Speaker 1: the winners slash losers, depending on how you look at it,
- 52:54Speaker 1: I suppose. So just to give you the rundown and
- 52:58Speaker 1: see what you guys think, it's pretty much a sweep
- 53:01Speaker 1: for two movies. They kind of split it, but it
- 53:05Speaker 1: seems to be a running theme here for most of them.
- 53:08Speaker 1: Worst picture would be The Last Airbender. Can you argue
- 53:13Speaker 1: that really? I've never saw it. I haven't either, but
- 53:15Speaker 1: I know it's, I mean, come on.
- 53:18Speaker 11: It's Shyamalan. I actually was interested in seeing it. But
- 53:24Speaker 11: obviously I didn't.
- 53:25Speaker 1: I mean, again, if there was never a show that
- 53:30Speaker 1: they've totally screwed over, it still probably would have been
- 53:33Speaker 1: a bad movie.
- 53:33Speaker 9: But knowing how good and respected that show is among
- 53:38Speaker 9: geeks that really like that kind of stuff and know
- 53:42Speaker 9: that it's actually kind of well written and has a
- 53:44Speaker 9: good story arc to it and real characters, and they've
- 53:47Speaker 9: totally thrown all that out the window and decided to.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Do this, you know, in-night bullshit. Yeah, I don't know.
- 53:53Speaker 1: It doesn't surprise me at all, so. The worst actor
- 53:57Speaker 1: would be Ashton Kutcher. And I like that they just
- 53:59Speaker 1: give you whatever. They're just like, killers, Valentine's Day, fuck, whatever.
- 54:04Speaker 5: Right.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Demi Moore, whatever Ashton Kutcher was in this year. Whatever,
- 54:07Speaker 1: we'll take it. Whatever he was in.
- 54:10Speaker 5: No, I caught that too. I'm like, ew. Not really, apparently, though. Right.
- 54:15Speaker 1: Oh, Worst Actress is a tie. A four-way tie.
- 54:20Speaker 8: Wow.
- 54:21Speaker 1: Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristen Davis, and Cynthia Nixon.
- 54:25Speaker 1: Take a wild guess what movie. Yeah. Yeah, I think
- 54:28Speaker 1: that's pretty good. I would think that would be the
- 54:32Speaker 1: other worst movie. Well, it was in there. It was
- 54:37Speaker 1: up there for Worst Picture, but... Yeah, then we get
- 54:41Speaker 1: worse supporting actress, which, again, I like that they just
- 54:44Speaker 1: give you the rundown for Jessica Alba. But it's like
- 54:48Speaker 1: for a whole slew. It's The Killer Inside Me, Little Fockers, Machete,
- 54:52Speaker 1: Valentine's Day. They're like, man, I didn't even realize she
- 54:55Speaker 1: worked that much this past year.
- 54:56Speaker 11: Her standing on top of the car, what was the
- 54:59Speaker 11: line that she delivered? We didn't cross the line. No,
- 55:02Speaker 11: we didn't cross the border.
- 55:04Speaker 8: The border.
- 55:04Speaker 1: The border crossed us.
- 55:06Speaker 13: You know.
- 55:07Speaker 1: Yes, it was a cheesy line, but her delivery was horrible.
- 55:10Speaker 1: What's really sad, and I guess more for us, is
- 55:14Speaker 1: that's not really her. And that's not even the writing
- 55:18Speaker 1: on the movie. That is actually a saying. I mean, granted,
- 55:21Speaker 1: they lifted it from a speech, a well-written speech years ago.
- 55:25Speaker 1: But it actually, I think if we looked closer to
- 55:28Speaker 1: the border, maybe we'd be familiar with it. Because when
- 55:30Speaker 1: I went doing research for Machete, I found out they're... Is, like,
- 55:34Speaker 1: this whole group that's, like, really trying to raise awareness
- 55:36Speaker 1: of what's going on with the whole government screwing people
- 55:40Speaker 1: over on the border. Or, again, that depends on how
- 55:43Speaker 1: you look at it, I suppose. But from their perspective,
- 55:45Speaker 1: you know, they're looking into what the government's doing. And
- 55:48Speaker 1: that is, like, their motto? Seriously?
- 55:51Speaker 12: Like, I.
- 55:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I... I mean, they're actually saying it in speeches
- 55:56Speaker 1: like that. They've got it on flyers.
- 55:57Speaker 7: I mean, it.
- 55:59Speaker 1: I thought it was a bad joke, but sadly, I
- 56:03Speaker 1: guess for them, I don't know. It just seems like
- 56:05Speaker 1: not really the way to go if you're trying to
- 56:07Speaker 1: get serious support for a matter. I don't know, that
- 56:11Speaker 1: was kind of silly. Well, her delivery of it was pitiful. Yeah, well,
- 56:15Speaker 1: her delivery a.
- 56:15Speaker 5: Lot of the time is pitiful.
- 56:17Speaker 8: You're right, you're right.
- 56:17Speaker 1: But when you can beat out Cher in burlesque, that's
- 56:20Speaker 1: saying something, Jessica, so good going. We're supporting actor Jackson Rathbone.
- 56:26Speaker 1: from The Last Airbender, and or Twilight Saga Eclipse. Yeah,
- 56:31Speaker 1: nobody likes that guy either.
- 56:32Speaker 13: Right.
- 56:33Speaker 1: I do like their categories. Worst eye-gouging misuse of 3D,
- 56:38Speaker 1: which would be The Last Airbender, which that's saying something.
- 56:42Speaker 1: If it beat out Clash of the Titans, because Clash
- 56:45Speaker 1: of the Titans, from what I hear, was really horrible. Like,
- 56:47Speaker 1: just should not have ever even been attempted to be
- 56:51Speaker 1: considered 3D. Wow.
- 56:53Speaker 19: Yeah.
- 56:54Speaker 1: No, I didn't watch it on purpose. No, maybe. Worst
- 56:58Speaker 1: screen couple slash worst screen ensemble. Take a guess. The
- 57:03Speaker 1: entire cast of Sex and the City 2. It's a sweep,
- 57:07Speaker 1: I'm telling you. Good. Worst director, again, M. Night Shyamalan,
- 57:12Speaker 1: The Last Airbender. Worst screenplay, yep, M. Night Shyamalan.
- 57:18Speaker 11: You know, I don't think that he's necessarily a bad director.
- 57:22Speaker 11: He just has really bad ideas and no one telling
- 57:25Speaker 11: him no.
- 57:26Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 57:26Speaker 1: I mean, that's part of it. I think he's still
- 57:29Speaker 1: a good director.
- 57:30Speaker 11: It's just he doesn't have good advisors.
- 57:34Speaker 5: I think that's what.
- 57:35Speaker 19: It's like one of those.
- 57:36Speaker 1: That's the thing. I heard a whole interview with him
- 57:38Speaker 1: and that's... He was... totally invested in this like he
- 57:42Speaker 1: really thought he was making a great movie with this
- 57:44Speaker 1: yeah i don't think he's a hack i don't think
- 57:46Speaker 1: he's doing stuff just because it's popular just because it's
- 57:49Speaker 1: going to make money right i think he really does
- 57:51Speaker 1: go into all these projects with like you know a
- 57:54Speaker 1: passion behind it he really thinks he's making a great
- 57:56Speaker 1: movie but again i think he's just misguided in his
- 57:59Speaker 1: thinking and and there's not anybody there to keep him
- 58:02Speaker 1: in check of like uh you really want to do
- 58:05Speaker 1: a twist again I won't forgive him for The Happening.
- 58:09Speaker 1: I don't think anybody will. I'll watch Lady in the Water.
- 58:11Speaker 11: I actually own Lady in the Water, and I'll defend
- 58:13Speaker 11: Lady in the Water.
- 58:14Speaker 1: I'll write an essay about it. The Happening is a
- 58:16Speaker 1: piece of fucking trash. See, I'm one of the few
- 58:19Speaker 1: people I know that likes The Village.
- 58:20Speaker 5: I love The Village.
- 58:21Speaker 1: I like The Village.
- 58:22Speaker 5: I mean, I love The Village.
- 58:24Speaker 1: People hate The Village. That's your prerogative. Go for it.
- 58:28Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of good stuff in The Village.
- 58:32Speaker 1: I think the twist is pretty damn clever in both
- 58:35Speaker 1: of them. I mean, truthfully, there's one midway through that
- 58:37Speaker 1: I think is almost more interesting than the one that
- 58:39Speaker 1: comes up at the end. What's the one midway through?
- 58:42Speaker 1: The monster's angle? I mean, the fact that it's a
- 58:46Speaker 1: monster through the first half of it, and then that
- 58:48Speaker 1: part comes up. I thought that part was really cool.
- 58:51Speaker 1: And then you get to the end. And the acting
- 58:54Speaker 1: in it is fantastic. I mean, he's got A-list people
- 58:58Speaker 1: in charge of this thing. So, I mean, it's like, again...
- 59:00Speaker 1: I think up until that point, he was still... Even Signs,
- 59:03Speaker 1: there's a lot of good stuff going on in Signs.
- 59:06Speaker 1: The end is stupid. We all know that.
- 59:08Speaker 27: But I mean up until the village I think he
- 59:10Speaker 27: was still you know it wasn't perfect but he was
- 59:13Speaker 27: coming in with some pretty good projects he had to
- 59:14Speaker 27: still like what he was doing and at least how
- 59:17Speaker 27: much he was bringing to the table each time and
- 59:19Speaker 27: then you know.
- 59:21Speaker 1: Lady of the Water basically nobody saw I think was
- 59:23Speaker 1: half the problem it just went completely under the radar
- 59:26Speaker 1: and then you get to the happening and the airbender
- 59:29Speaker 1: and Yeah, I mean, he's just steadily slaloming downhill now.
- 59:33Speaker 1: So I don't know what he can do to save
- 59:35Speaker 1: his career.
- 59:36Speaker 11: Did anybody see the, I know he only produced it,
- 59:39Speaker 11: but the Devil movie?
- 59:40Speaker 5: I did see that at the drive-ins. It was really terrible.
- 59:44Speaker 1: Again, everything I heard about it was like, it's not
- 59:47Speaker 1: as bad as most of his movies, but it's still
- 59:49Speaker 1: not great.
- 59:50Speaker 5: It was just so far-fetched and stupid. It was just stupid.
- 59:54Speaker 20: Okay.
- 59:57Speaker 11: I just remember when I saw the first preview for
- 59:59Speaker 11: that and it said, from the mind of M. Night
- 1:00:03Speaker 11: Shyamalan and everyone in the theater laughed. That was the
- 1:00:06Speaker 11: part where I was like, you knew he'd jump the.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Shark, but that's really bad when people laugh.
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: When normal people see it, they're going to laugh. Yeah, regular.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Not even like geeks that listen to podcasts, because we
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: make fun of a lot of people. And it's usually
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: those same people over and over again because they keep
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: doing just crap. It's like there's only so many times
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: I can make fun of Nicolas Cage, but you know what?
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: We still laugh every time because he's always doing crap
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: and it's always funny. Except every once in a while
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: when he does a good role, but that's a weird
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: phenomenon really. So, yeah, Dry Vanigree, I'm probably going to
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: go laugh at it. I still sort of want to
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: see it. But it's got... It's got hot chicken in it.
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: Yeah. It has Mandy Lane.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. And, I mean, again, I almost would see it
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: for the 3D, as much as 3D has sucked on
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: everything up until this point. It's made by the director
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: who did My Bloody Valentine, which to me is still
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: possibly the best 3D feature I've seen.
- 1:01:01Speaker 13: Mm-hmm.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: I mean, granted.
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: That was like, there was so much hype with that.
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: I mean, that brought 3D back.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: It really, I mean, and it was the first one, really.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: It was the first one out of the gate. It
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: was out well before Avatar. I mean, to me, and I, granted,
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: everybody loved Avatar. I avoided that one, really. But, I mean,
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: of everything else that I've seen over this time, I
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: still think My Bloody Valentine was the most impressive. So,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: I mean, as far as animated, Coraline still was pretty cool.
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: Yeah, that was great.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I think as far as live-action stuff, My Bloody
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: Valentine was the best. And this is the same guy. So,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: I mean, almost for the 3D technology, I would almost
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: go see it for that. Again, I don't know if
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: I will because I don't have any money.
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: Is that Mandy Moore singing? Who is that?
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: I don't know who that is.
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: It looks like Mandy Moore.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: I think it is. I mean, she's in that movie.
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: What movie?
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Tangle is nominated. Oh, yeah, it's Tangle. That's the dude
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: from Chuck, isn't it?
- 1:01:55Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: I think it's Chuck.
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: I think it is.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: You almost forget that Mandy Moore was a singer.
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: I know, you do.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: She has been acting for quite a while now.
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: I have a lot more respect for Mandy Moore than
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: I do anybody of that time period because maybe she
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: didn't get as popular, but she never became, she never
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: sold out.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: She never became a slut. She was never, yeah, she
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: was never hoary. I mean, they definitely used her sexuality
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: and the fact that she was like 16 that first,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: actually she was 15 that first album. So they, but again,
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: you can tell that first album of hers was nothing
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: but corporate pushed bullshit. Like it was all, songs that
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: they handed her that she had nothing to do with,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: but you go back a couple years later, she wrote everything.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: I mean, that's the other thing I give her credit.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: How much did Britney ever write? And what did sucked
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: was she was actually a decent songwriter by the time
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: she was, you know, 18.
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: I just think that.
- 1:02:52Speaker 10: Uh-huh.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: He's hitting that later. Don't tell her rock star husband.
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: He's her rock star husband.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: And he's writing it.
- 1:02:59Speaker 23: I don't know.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: I think you're right. Fuck that guy. Well, she was
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: dating Wilmer Valderrama. Yeah, I do question it. Anything is
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: a step up from that. The best option was her
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: tennis boy. I don't even remember what his name was,
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: but at least he was sort of, you know, he
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: was your tennis stud. I can give her that one.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: They were sort of along the same lines, but Wilmer,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: what the fuck? That guy's a chump.
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: I think he's like... the joke of Hollywood at this point.
- 1:03:29Speaker 8: And he's, that's the thing.
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: I would, I mean, if he's handy Manny, but, but no,
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: that's what kills.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: Me is he, he's also a douche bag. Like at
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: least if he was like kind of cool, but there
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: was somebody, I was heard somebody that was like a,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: like did like a bit role on that 70s show.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: And he was like a jackass to it. I'm like,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: in that crew, you know, if Ashton Kutcher's being cool
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: to people and you're being a douchebag, I mean, think
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: about that. It's like, how the fuck is that? It's like,
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: Mila's going to turn around and turn in a real
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: Oscar-caliber career now. Yeah, you're a joke. And Topher Grace
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: is in that new horrible 80s bullshit. So yeah, to
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: round out the Razzies here, which we got sidetracked on,
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: I have Again, I just love their categories. Worst prequel, remake, rip-off,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: or sequel. Once again, to round it out, Sex and
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: the City 2. Sort of a two-way street. Avatar and
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Sex and the City. Airbender and Sex and the City.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: And Sex and the City made so much money. But
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: everybody hated it. Even people who were fans of the
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: show were like, yeah, this was terrible. But you gave
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: it how much fucking money?
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: Oh, Lord.
- 1:04:46Speaker 11: My wife liking something like that would be grounds for divorce.
- 1:04:48Speaker 11: I would divorce her over almost nothing. There's hardly anything,
- 1:04:52Speaker 11: but that would be... There's some things I just can't
- 1:04:55Speaker 11: look past.
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: I don't understand why Adrian Brody is doing the Stella
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: R12 commercial.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Because they gave him money?
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's not like he's out of work. He's
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: not exactly out of work.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: That's why they want him to. But he's doing Predators
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: and Slither. Or Splice.
- 1:05:10Speaker 18: Splice.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Yeah, not the other one.
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: Sure, I guess. But still.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: Still, think about what that check was.
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: I mean, didn't he win an Oscar once?
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: Yeah. That was years ago. They only last for about
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: a year or two. Yeah, really. He did Devils 2.
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: Right. So true.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: He could be, like, the next big B actor after
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: doing Predators and... Could be.
- 1:05:35Speaker 11: I mean, he'd need one or two more, and he
- 1:05:38Speaker 11: could be a big-budget B-actor.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: I mean, I think Predators was still high-profile enough. I mean,
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Splice just, again, was another one that was totally under
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: the radar. Like, it got a decent opening. I mean,
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: somehow the studio got it into a lot of theaters, but,
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: I mean, it didn't make much money, and people really
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: didn't pay that much attention. I mean, it's just once
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: it hit DVD, people finally started watching it, but... Yeah,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: I don't know. I think he's still just such a
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: recognizable name at this point.
- 1:06:04Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: He's okay for a little while. Well, I mean, I'm
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: saying in a good way. Yeah. He could go to
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: those roles. He does those roles pretty well. He brings
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: a lot more to them.
- 1:06:13Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: I think both of those are good examples. I mean,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: I think he's really good in both of those movies
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: in a role that could have easily gone at least generic,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: if not just really dumb and bad. And I think
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: he brings a lot to them. I really liked Predators.
- 1:06:27Speaker 17: I mean.
- 1:06:28Speaker 11: If you don't expect a whole lot out of it,
- 1:06:30Speaker 11: you really get a lot out of it.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it's a lot of fun. And again,
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: I think he and the main girl, there actually is
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: a decent amount of character in something that you would
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: expect no character in. Right. Yeah, I think they actually
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: do something useful with it. All right, so we've yammered
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: on so much, I don't even want to go into
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: the whole buzz, but I did see this one story,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: and I thought, well, I'd bring it up for two reasons. One,
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: I know, Greg, at least you're a big fan of
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: this guy, and he's been a guest on the show briefly,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: so I thought we'd bring that up. And second, because
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: it means I get to mention Michael Bay. And more importantly,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: it's an excuse for me to play our theme any
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: time we mention it. Michael Bay sucks.
- 1:07:13Speaker 12: Okay, so.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes Production Company, best known for their
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: cheesy horror remakes and all that bullshit we've made fun
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: of a couple of times now, has acquired the rights
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: to the IDW comic book series Zombies vs. Robots.
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: Oh, nice.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: The deal includes a script based on a comic called
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: Inherit the Earth, possibly a working or subtitle, by J.T. Petty,
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: whose previous work we watched the 2008 direct-to-video title The Burrowers.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: and is actually a pretty talented guy. If you go
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: look at his short films and stuff, he's done some
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: good stuff. So I'm definitely a big fan of what
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: he's done so far and want to see where he's going.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: It worries me that he's possibly involved with Michael Bay. Possibly. But,
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: and the story sounds, the comic book is about a
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: young girl who is the last survivor of a zombie
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: apocalypse with a group of robots protecting her from a
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: new pack of zombies that have evolved and are now intelligent.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: this could all be fun in like a B movie
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: kind of way. I mean, if you work it right,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: this could be a hell, especially with him directing. It's like,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: this could be a hell of a movie. Michael Bay
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: worries me, you know, it's like there's, yeah, I don't
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: know what else to do.
- 1:08:25Speaker 11: You know, Gigi Petty, he already took something, the horror
- 1:08:30Speaker 11: movie in the wild west. I'd never seen anything really
- 1:08:34Speaker 11: like that before. And I thought this isn't going to work.
- 1:08:37Speaker 11: And I thought, I even thought the first time I
- 1:08:39Speaker 11: sat down to watch, I was like, This is.
- 1:08:41Speaker 6: Probably going to suck.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: And I was impressed. It was tense. The lighting was taking...
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: The acting was good. The editing was good.
- 1:08:49Speaker 11: You could tell he just cared about that movie. And again,
- 1:08:52Speaker 11: on a very modest budget. And it looks really good
- 1:08:56Speaker 11: for that budget. And it's not going to... to be
- 1:09:00Speaker 11: mass appeal kind of a movie, but it's definitely a
- 1:09:06Speaker 11: good movie.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: And any kind of horror fan should see that movie,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:09:10Speaker 11: And anybody that likes movies, because after your interview with him,
- 1:09:15Speaker 11: you can just, and this is the fan of me
- 1:09:17Speaker 11: talking now, moving now down to You can just tell
- 1:09:20Speaker 11: that he is just the guy that likes to sit
- 1:09:23Speaker 11: down and talk movies.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: And I appreciated that more than anything.
- 1:09:26Speaker 11: And I would love if he was just sitting here
- 1:09:29Speaker 11: and we could just get his take on movies sometimes.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: That's the kind of guy we want, you know, or
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: you'd want on a show like this.
- 1:09:36Speaker 11: So I'd listen to him do interviews all the time.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: That was the thing. He was just relaxed. I mean,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: he's in the middle of his big premiere, really, for
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: this movie and was just kind of hanging out and
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: talking to the guy who co-starred in the movie. He
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: was just really relaxed and really down to earth. And
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: it was, again, it was a really good interview. And
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: I think he just seems like a really good guy. And, again,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: if he's got upcoming projects, I'd like to get a
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: hold of him again. I really would like to talk
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: to him on this one. And just, again, he should
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: just come hang out with us. And just, you know,
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: Petty and Jennifer Lawrence, we're all going to go hang
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: out and get coffee and talk.
- 1:10:13Speaker 12: Movies, you know.
- 1:10:14Speaker 15: And if he.
- 1:10:16Speaker 11: Cares about movies as much as he sounded as though
- 1:10:20Speaker 11: he cares about movies it'll be good either way i
- 1:10:22Speaker 11: think he'll do a good.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Job i think so i mean i think he is
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: really like very level-headed it's like everything he talked about
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: was was really smart but at the same time He's
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: I mean, you look back at some of the stuff
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: he's done and even he kind of looks at it
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: very realistically. Like, I mean, he knew going in, he's like, well,
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: you know, they gave me these options of movies to make.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: You know, I went with what I thought would be
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: the best movie. You know, he's realistic about it, but
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: at the same time, always trying to get the best
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: out of what he's working with. And I think, yeah,
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: he's I just I'm interested in seeing where this goes. So.
- 1:10:54Speaker 5: What does Oprah have to do with the Oscars?
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: She's got a billion dollars. Uma, Oprah. There you go.
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: See, I didn't even have to.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Do it this year. Oh, Lord. That was at your
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: first meet, at your first one.
- 1:11:08Speaker 6: Wasn't it?
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: I think it was just last year, wasn't it? No,
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: I meant at your first... Or the very first was
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: that year, actually.
- 1:11:15Speaker 6: Yes, it was.
- 1:11:16Speaker 11: Because I remember thinking... I thought it was hilarious.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: I love when David and I are.
- 1:11:24Speaker 11: Uma Thurman was sitting over on one side and Oprah
- 1:11:27Speaker 11: Winfrey was sitting on the.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Other side and he kept introducing them. He was going, Uma, Oprah, Oprah, Uma.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: And he did it, I don't know, 15 times. I mean,
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: it's a Letterman joke. I mean, if you watch him,
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: he does that stuff all the time and it was funny. But, like,
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: he's in the middle of the Oscars and the Oscar
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: crowd isn't a Letterman crowd. They don't get it. The
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: producers obviously don't get it. I don't know if they've
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: ever even watched Letterman. So, I mean, it's like.
- 1:11:51Speaker 11: They would cut back from the presentation, and he would just, Oprah.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: And then they were up in a studio somewhere pulling
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: their hair out. He was driving them crazy.
- 1:12:05Speaker 5: And the Oscar goes to.
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: Inside Job Trolls.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Oh, wow. That was that one I heard was one
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: of those that just makes you angry.
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: I mean, but like if Banksy had won, who would
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: have accepted the offer?
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: That's kind of why I was hoping he would win.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: I just wanted to see what would happen. Something would
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: have to happen. Even if he didn't go up there,
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: which we're all pretty sure he did. I still think
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: it would have been funny if he went up there
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: with the monkey mask on. Right. But I doubt that
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: would have happened because that still would put him in
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: danger if in fact it was him.
- 1:12:40Speaker 8: Yeah. Right.
- 1:12:42Speaker 11: Well, I think there's a lot of that crowd that
- 1:12:43Speaker 11: would resent somebody like him.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I can see them not. But it's funny
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: that I think this is still, like, the biggest thing
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: that got, I mean, it got probably more views than
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: anything on that list.
- 1:12:54Speaker 14: Right.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: I think it, you know. I don't know, Inside Job
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: got a lot of press and stuff. And Mr. Brainwash, yes,
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: accepting would have been pretty awesome. Oh, that would have
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: been funny. You could have gone with your mustache. That's right.
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: I bet that would have been who accepted.
- 1:13:09Speaker 19: Probably accepted.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: Did you see the thing that Randy posted on the
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: movie Meltdown page? I didn't watch that, no. Well, it's
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: actually like, I just read through the story, and it's
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: basically like guys that worked at galleries that knew Mr.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: Brainwash as Mr. Brainwash and knew him as a guy
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: back in the day when he was hanging around with
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: all these artists.
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: According to this, again, everything is.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: questionable everything is you know completely like.
- 1:13:40Speaker 5: If we knew anyone who had ever lived in la
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: they could probably validate whether or not.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: It's some but even then i mean so much of
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: this is is doctored you know but so much of
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: it very potentially could be fake it could have been
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: in you know something at play for years people.
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: Would remember the big graffiti art of him him with
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: the camera yeah.
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: Again that stuff comes and goes pretty quickly I mean
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: I don't know there's so much of it that's up
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: in the air and again what's awesome about that movie
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: you know it's just the fact that no matter how
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: many and that's what I said when Randy Posey was
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: like before you guys watch it and I was like
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: well technically we already had that discussion but I was
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: like number one that's kind of interesting number two it
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: just poses more questions really I was like it doesn't
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: change anything we said in fact it kind of makes
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: it even more interesting now so yeah I don't know
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: I thought that was that was interesting.
- 1:14:30Speaker 11: It's fascinating if it's real. It's even more fascinating if
- 1:14:33Speaker 11: it's fake. So I can care less.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: Either way, I mean, it just kind of works regardless.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: I mean, I think, you know, the movie works on
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: its own, and I think all these other layers of
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: questions makes it more interesting, and it's probably why. Like
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: I said, it probably got at least one of the,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: you know, most viewed movies of the year as far
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: as documentaries go.
- 1:14:55Speaker 15: Mm-hmm.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: I think that's why. I think if it didn't have
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: that question around it, not that many people probably would
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: have seen. If it wasn't the Banksy movie, if it
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: didn't have all these controversy of was it real, was
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: it not, is there a Mr. Brainwash, any of that.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: How many people go see documentaries about art? Not that
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: many people. If it didn't have all that, it probably
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: wouldn't have gotten all this attention.
- 1:15:18Speaker 11: On top of that, I'm just pleased that there are
- 1:15:21Speaker 11: that good documentaries out there and that.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: People are paying that much attention to them too.
- 1:15:26Speaker 11: Because that's what I learned more from good documentaries than
- 1:15:29Speaker 11: just about anything.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: And I think they're finally starting to get a little
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: bit of respect. I think, I mean, people have been
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: making documentaries since film began, but it's like they have been,
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: you know, completely pushed out of the way by super
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: giant Hollywood projects. And I think these last four or
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: five years, it's sort of stepped it up a notch
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: and like people are actually watching the movies that are,
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: you know, nominated for best documentary and they're, getting them
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: out there in a much bigger fashion. They're sending them
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: out as, like, film festivals and stuff. They're really piecing
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: them together and really promoting them once they get to
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: the point of being nominated. So I think it's starting
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: to push its way through, and I think it actually
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: is going to become, maybe not ever get to the
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: level of the, you know, best picture, but I think
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: it's getting close. I think it's getting to be a real,
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: you know, it's always been respected, you know, section of film. Right.
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: It's starting to be taken seriously in that realm that
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: the feature films are. Is this the death part? That's
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: my favorite part of the Oscars. Damn, let's see.
- 1:16:28Speaker 5: Where they elect an old actor to die.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: It's like Logan's run. Sorry, your time's up, buddy.
- 1:16:35Speaker 12: Take off.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: You've got half an hour, and then we're going to
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: all track you down and kill you. Yeah, we don't
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: have enough for this dead actors montage. Can you all
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: kick off for us, please?
- 1:16:42Speaker 15: No.
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: Sacrifice yourself. You just need one human sacrifice. That's all.
- 1:16:49Speaker 20: All they ask.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: It's the Oscars. They're all powerful. Alright, it's time for
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: our announcement.
- 1:16:54Speaker 5: E.T., go to Preston.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: If you're a friend on Facebook or you follow us
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: on Twitter, which you should be both and or either,
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: you've probably already seen this because I keep putting it
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: out there because it's goddamn amazing. We're once again nominated
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: for a Rondo Award. And even more impressive this time
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: in what I consider to be the actual proper category.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: Last year was awesome, but I'd be the first to
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: argue that we didn't belong in that category.
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: What category were we in last year?
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: Last year we were Best Website. Our website's retarded because
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: I'm the one that deals with it, and I don't
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: know what the fuck we're doing. We admit that it's
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: all stolen. Only some of it's stolen. I took the pictures.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: Somebody just needs to sponsor us a website, and then
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: we'll actually have a real website. But for now, we
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: have the makeshift one because nobody's paying for it. I
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: am paying for that one, and that's the most I'm
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: going to put into it right now, because if I'm
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: going to continue the show, I don't really have time
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: to constantly mess with the website, obviously.
- 1:17:53Speaker 11: Well, if somebody's in school to do web design and
- 1:17:58Speaker 11: looking for a project, we're your project. You can make
- 1:18:01Speaker 11: us a website.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: So, this time we are actually nominated for what I
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: feel to be a pretty impressive category. We are up
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: for Best Horror Audio. So that's how awesome our horror
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: discussions are, is that we're nominated up there with pretty
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: big and well-backed, huge operations. So I don't know. I
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: think that's pretty amazing that we're even in the running here.
- 1:18:27Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:18:27Speaker 11: Plus, we're not professionals at the horror genre. So, you know,
- 1:18:33Speaker 11: to be able to do that and help promote the field, you.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: Know, We certainly, and that's why I'm glad we ended
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: up there, because if there's anything we fall into more
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: than anything, it's horror anyway. I mean, we certainly sway
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: in that direction, but, you know, from day one, I
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: didn't want to pin it down. but I think again
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: based on a lot of the people on the show
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: that love horror a lot of the fans love horror
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: so we end up right back at horror about you
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: know 80% of the time but it's good to be
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: able to mix it up here and there but yeah
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: we're definitely very based out of horror obviously so once
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: again If you haven't already, go to rondoaward.com and go
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: to category number 21, Best Horror Audio. Right. Category number 21.
- 1:19:17Speaker 8: I need to vote.
- 1:19:18Speaker 5: I haven't voted.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: All you do is go and you copy the ballot
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: that is on their website and do your email. It's
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: all done by email, so don't go trying to do
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: it some other random way or Facebook them or something.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Because it all has to be directly in an email
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: and sent to David, who actually runs the Rondo Awards.
- 1:19:36Speaker 17: So.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: paste it into an email, and then put a big
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: X on number 21 next to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:19:43Speaker 19: If you want.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: We would certainly appreciate it. And send it over. The
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: deadline on that is March 27th, so if you're not
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: listening to this immediately, it may be time for you
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: to hurry the hell up and do it. So, get
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: on top of it. Send them an email, because I think,
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: you know, if anything, this is, you know, any vote
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: that we get is a show of support for independent podcasts.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: I mean, We're up against at least one, if not
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: a couple, pretty huge operations with major backing and sponsors
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: and a lot of other stuff. So as many votes
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: as we get kind of legitimizes not just us, but
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: every other podcast out there that's kind of, you know,
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: financing themselves out of their pocket and trying to put
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: together a good show. It's just a show of support
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: for everybody that it legitimizes what we're all doing, I think.
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: So if nothing else, you know. Support independent podcasts like us.
- 1:20:34Speaker 5: I think the only reason I knew that we were
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: nominated for a Rondo is because I saw that Eddie
- 1:20:38Speaker 5: posted that on his Facebook page. So thank you, Eddie,
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: for that.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: Once again, yeah, that's another thing you can do is
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: after voting for us, spread the word, post it on
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: your page, post it on anybody else who's willing. I
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: don't want to, like, spam people with it, but if
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: you think People are actually interested in horror or podcasts
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: or any of this stuff. Somebody owes you a favor?
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: That too. Even if the show wasn't nominated for it,
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: I still, for years, well before the show has been around,
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: I've been following the Rondo Awards. I think it's probably
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: one of the most impressive awards that I've seen. There's
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: a lot of them out there, especially on the internet.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Every day there's a new award out there.
- 1:21:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: This one's been around for years now, and it's actually
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: become kind of prestigious. I mean, at least in the
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: horror field. And, you know, it's kind of a big deal.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: So I think if there's anything that's bothering to call
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: attention to stuff that gets overlooked, you know, websites and
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: blogs and stuff that traditional media could give a rat's
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: ass about.
- 1:21:38Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: Magazine covers. Yeah, magazine covers and best audio commentary on
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: a DVD. I mean, this is geek-friendly stuff here. This
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: is knee-deep in the kind of stuff that most people
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: who listen to podcasts are really into anyway. So... I
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: would think if you're not already familiar with it, go
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: and check it out for no other reason, even if
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: you don't vote for us. I think Rondo Awards is
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: kind of something cool and of this new generation, this
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: whole wave of new media that's come through that's just
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: kind of still overlooked by the traditional media. And I
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: think in the next 10 years, a lot of stuff
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: is going to change. And I think this is the
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: kind of place that's already on the crest of that
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: and is kind of– backing the right people, the people
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: that are going to be in charge in 10 years.
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: So I think, you know, go check it out if
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: you've not already been there. RondoAward.com. Okay, kids, get out
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: your decoder pins.
- 1:22:28Speaker 5: Dun, dun, dun.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: Oh, well, if you weren't Logie with pork, I might
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: call you out.
- 1:22:34Speaker 19: For you members of the Secret Circle.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: It is time for Moving Up Down the Secret Circle
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: to reveal an upcoming exciting feature.
- 1:22:41Speaker 6: Just one?
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: Possibly.
- 1:22:43Speaker 12: Okay.
- 1:22:44Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: You can still say it if you want. There you go.
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: I figured that was really all you wanted to do. So, uh,
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: we were, uh, we mentioned before we, we are going
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: to be watching the, uh, Toby Hooper's invaders from Mars. That's,
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: that will be coming in the near future. Um, As
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: far as exactly, I mean, we've got this coming out,
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: and we've actually, the next, I'm looking ahead, so we've
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: got another one coming in between then. I'm not 100%
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: sure where we're going with that, if we're going to
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: do a movie one, if we're going to go back
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: and do another Caffeinated Movie Geek. But by the end
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: of the month, to round it out with sort of
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: a two coming up, we're going to be doing our
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: coverage from Horror Hound. So, you've got that in the
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: very near future, too, in the next couple of episodes. So,
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: Get excited for that. We're going to go pester Lisa Marie,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: if nothing else. There you go.
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: Two waters and some crack. Yeah, I'll take some crack.
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: Well, yeah. I remember last year she sang with Hugh
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: Jackman to prove that she could. Who is it again?
- 1:23:57Speaker 8: Anne Hathaway.
- 1:23:59Speaker 5: Every time she changes her outfits, she becomes a new
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: person to change.
- 1:24:02Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: Well, she's wearing a tuxedo now, so I didn't know
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: who it was.
- 1:24:07Speaker 15: Just from now on, it's any chick you don't know
- 1:24:08Speaker 15: who it is, just assume it's Anne Hathaway.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 1:24:12Speaker 5: Who's that?
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: Anne Hathaway. Oh, of course, James Franco is in drag.
- 1:24:19Speaker 20: Sure.
- 1:24:21Speaker 5: I mean, I know everyone hates Russell Brand. I don't
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: hate him, but why is he invited to the Oscars?
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: Because he's a celebrity. He'll invite anybody.
- 1:24:29Speaker 5: Yeah, but why is he doing stuff at the Oscars?
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: Because he's popular. I'm not saying I like him. I'm
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: just saying. Because he's married to Katy Perry. Because he's
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: Katy Perry's boy. We're back with Pastry Crack. Crack. I
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: like crack.
- 1:24:43Speaker 5: Dog Teeth was nominated. You guys saw that.
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: Dog house, dog food.
- 1:24:48Speaker 5: Whatever.
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: It's all about dogs. Beethoven's second. Same thing. Just for that,
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: you eat the foil.
- 1:24:57Speaker 5: Fine, dude. So what is it?
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: Is it like a custard? It's crack. I don't know.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: I handed you two spoons. You set them down. I
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: didn't know I put your spoon on the table.
- 1:25:11Speaker 5: You know that I'm weird.
- 1:25:13Speaker 8: Bye.
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: He was looking at somebody on TV. It might have
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: been Anne Hathaway. I was trying to figure out who
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: that was.
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: That's Anne Hathaway.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: Yep, that's Anne Hathaway. She's looking rough.
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: She really is looking old.
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: Whoa, that thing's huge.
- 1:25:31Speaker 14: See?
- 1:25:31Speaker 11: You know what you're going to want.
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: What is it? It's a thing with crack and crack.
- 1:25:39Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: Holy shit, that's good. If you would, I might tell
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: you what's in it.
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: Is it like a cinnamon-based, sugary croissant with some cream
- 1:25:47Speaker 5: cheese filling in it?
- 1:25:48Speaker 12: Sort of.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: That's what I guess.
- 1:25:51Speaker 5: He's not going to tell us. That's the only way
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: he gets.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: Us to come.
- 1:25:55Speaker 20: Suckers.
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: So, while we chow down on the crack, it's time
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: for feedback.
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: Oh, we got feedback.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Fuck yeah.
- 1:26:02Speaker 23: Do people listen to this damn show?
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: I don't know why.
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: I'm a great cheer now.
- 1:26:06Speaker 11: 50% of your listeners are now on the chat.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: At some point, I'll listen. I'm working on Randy, but
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: he lives far away.
- 1:26:18Speaker 5: He's an honorary member.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: He is an honorary member. Ex officio member. So, speaking
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: of which, we heard from Randy. But, we knew that
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: because it's the other half of last week's message. So,
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: if you listened last week, and you should be, then
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: you heard the other half of this. So, it is
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: time to round it out with the rest of the
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: crew here.
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: Hey, Movie Meltdown, it's Randy.
- 1:26:41Speaker 21: It's been a while, so let me backtrack. First of all, Turkzilla,
- 1:26:45Speaker 21: that was fantastic. I appreciate that. Gobble, gobble, motherfucker, indeed.
- 1:26:50Speaker 21: I don't think there's a better holiday film for how
- 1:26:54Speaker 21: I celebrate the holidays than that one, and I really
- 1:26:56Speaker 21: appreciated your.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: Coverage of same. The Martin episode was fantastic.
- 1:27:00Speaker 21: As usual, you CSI'd the hell out of it, and
- 1:27:03Speaker 21: I appreciated that. Splice, uh, being the dumb shit I am,
- 1:27:07Speaker 21: I took my 22-year-old daughter. We had a Interesting time.
- 1:27:10Speaker 21: That's a wonderful father-daughter bonding moment there. I will say
- 1:27:15Speaker 21: when it got to the pivotal moment of man-hamster love,
- 1:27:20Speaker 21: while watching her, I kind of just turned around to
- 1:27:22Speaker 21: watch the theater to see how many people got up
- 1:27:24Speaker 21: and laughed. It was about four, and I enjoyed that immensely.
- 1:27:28Speaker 6: I have to say the.
- 1:27:29Speaker 21: Movie ruined me just a little bit. I feel odd
- 1:27:31Speaker 21: going into pet stores without looking at pets and thinking,
- 1:27:35Speaker 21: you know, this plus that equals.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: Hmm, awkward.
- 1:27:39Speaker 6: Very... Awkward.
- 1:27:41Speaker 21: I think that movie was made by the pro-furry contingent.
- 1:27:44Speaker 21: I thought the movie had a lot of flaws, but
- 1:27:47Speaker 21: it was certainly a singular watch, so I didn't mind it.
- 1:27:51Speaker 21: I thought when Sarah Polly's Elsa went berserk and suddenly
- 1:27:54Speaker 21: she had a bad childhood, it was like, come on, guys.
- 1:27:58Speaker 21: If your parents ruin you in your childhood, you stay ruined.
- 1:28:01Speaker 21: It doesn't, like, wait for your kid to spear your
- 1:28:05Speaker 21: cat with her tail, I think. I would like to
- 1:28:08Speaker 21: point out, I think one of the best aspects of
- 1:28:10Speaker 21: what you've got going is Jay's outrage at what's wrong
- 1:28:12Speaker 21: with the goddamn world.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: I think you should make that a regular segment. That's
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: all for now. Misty's awesome! And I'll talk to you
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: guys later.
- 1:28:21Speaker 21: Take care.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: So I figured you guys had to be here for
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: the last half.
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: Okay, cool.
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: Thank you, Randy. I got a lot of outrage.
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: I got a lot of rage.
- 1:28:30Speaker 20: I know.
- 1:28:31Speaker 8: I've got to hear it all the time.
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: She's got to hear about me bitching at everything.
- 1:28:34Speaker 5: I've got a lot of rage, too. It's lovely to
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: work so good together. Yeah. We hate a lot of
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: the same things.
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: Yeah, we do.
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: We have a lot of hate in common.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: And I hear you're awesome.
- 1:28:44Speaker 8: I'm pretty fucking awesome.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: You are going to call 911 when I pass out, right?
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: We'll see. Some of the things I've eaten tonight. I know,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: I've been working at this thing thinking I don't think
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: I can eat it.
- 1:29:00Speaker 5: I have a fat roll that I did not come
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: here with.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: Mission accomplished.
- 1:29:08Speaker 5: I'm going to run like 8 miles tomorrow.
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: Oh hell, Christian Bale. No, he's got a beard. Winning
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: himself a fancy Oscar.
- 1:29:16Speaker 5: Still doesn't do it for me. I'm sorry. I like beards,
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: but not Christian.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: You like skinny dudes. What's that one? Machinist.
- 1:29:23Speaker 5: Machinist.
- 1:29:24Speaker 9: Part two.
- 1:29:24Speaker 12: Creepy.
- 1:29:25Speaker 5: I love that movie.
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: That was a creepy movie. It's such a great movie.
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: I've never seen it.
- 1:29:29Speaker 8: I'm always creeped out when guys' fucking beards do not
- 1:29:32Speaker 8: match the hair on their head.
- 1:29:33Speaker 5: A lot of guys' beards are red. I know, and
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: it's fucking creepy.
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: Sometimes I have some red beards. Is that what they
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: mean when the jerks don't match the cartoon?
- 1:29:42Speaker 14: No.
- 1:29:42Speaker 8: Okay, good.
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: I mean, like, that's... Like most guys who grow beards,
- 1:29:48Speaker 5: their beards come out red for whatever reason. Weird. He's
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: got a couple orange hairs. That's why I keep wanting
- 1:29:53Speaker 5: to ask.
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: I've got gray and brown and black and red all
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: in there.
- 1:29:57Speaker 5: He's got a story to keep covered.
- 1:29:59Speaker 8: Magical.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: She holds me down and, like, tweezers my face. It's
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: not enjoyable.
- 1:30:06Speaker 5: Well, then fucking shave that shit more often.
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: I try to remember.
- 1:30:10Speaker 15: Well, you'd think me squeezing would be a fucking constant
- 1:30:12Speaker 15: reminder to keep your ass in check.
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: You don't want fucking brains damaged. You do have a
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: lot of bank. Oh, Lord. So, thank you, Randy. Thank you, Randy.
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: You're my favorite listener. You don't count. You're cast now.
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:30:31Speaker 5: You don't count.
- 1:30:32Speaker 14: So.
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: I don't know. I still think Spice was pretty impressive
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: the way it was put together just character-wise. I actually
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: think it was... Again, going back, I was listening to
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: other people talk about it, and I think as time
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: goes on, I gain a little more respect for it.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: I think it's pretty... you know, well pieced together as
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: far as the characters go, but at the same time,
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: I think it knows how schlocky it is, and it totally, like,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: makes use of all that stuff and takes it over
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: the top when it needs to take it over the top.
- 1:31:02Speaker 11: You know, they promoted it like it was Inception, and
- 1:31:05Speaker 11: it should have been promoted like it was a B-movie.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it was badly marketed. I think I would have
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: liked it a lot more had they done that.
- 1:31:13Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:31:14Speaker 23: Also, so what you're saying, Randy, is this would be
- 1:31:17Speaker 23: a great movie to take my 11-year-old daughter.
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: Because we need a good bonding. Yeah, that's father-daughter bonding
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: right there. Then we're going to go home and dance.
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: Do you lock your daughter up in the barn? No.
- 1:31:32Speaker 13: It's okay.
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: She's got a place to swim. That makes it fine.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:31:36Speaker 13: I don't know.
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: I think some of the parenting issues can lay sort
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: of dormant. I think, you know, maybe not that she
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: went like totally crazy all of a sudden, but I
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: think some of that parenting stuff, like, I don't think
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: you use that. It's like those muscles you don't use
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: until you have to. It's like some of that stuff
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: may not come into play until it's too late and
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: you realize, oh shit, I'm a horrible parent.
- 1:31:56Speaker 19: Right.
- 1:31:57Speaker 11: Well, you know, there are things that I've found myself
- 1:32:00Speaker 11: all of a sudden saying, and I'm like, that's exactly
- 1:32:03Speaker 11: what my parents said. And it's this revelation that oh shit,
- 1:32:06Speaker 11: there is a part of me that's just like that.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: I didn't have bad parents, but everybody has things. But
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: you end up turning out. Yeah, you're like, I'm not
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: going to be like that when I have kids. And
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: then all of a sudden, you know, it pops up
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: on you.
- 1:32:19Speaker 11: You're like, oh shit, I just did the starving kids
- 1:32:22Speaker 11: in Africa to get her to eat her sandwich.
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: You know, that really, you know, I can't believe that
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: came out of my mouth. Wow. She did the thing
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: the other day. She was like, God, you sound just
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: like your dad. And I was like, wait a minute,
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: maybe I do.
- 1:32:39Speaker 5: Is this another train crash movie?
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: How many train crash movies are there? It's J.J.
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: Abrams, though.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: This does look really good. This is the one that
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: the cast didn't even know what they were making, right? Yeah.
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: I mean, again, unless they massively screw things up, everything
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: about it looks good.
- 1:32:55Speaker 5: What is this?
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: Everybody involved, Super 8. I mean, it's J.J. Abrams, it's
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: Steven Spielberg, so it's like, If you screw this up,
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: you know, it's your own fault. If it's aliens in Peru,
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: they are going.
- 1:33:05Speaker 6: To screw it up.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: Well, we'll see. Peruvian aliens? Right. So we also heard from...
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: We also heard from Demise.
- 1:33:14Speaker 15: Oh, wow.
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: We have two of those. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:33:17Speaker 26: Hi, Demise.
- 1:33:18Speaker 5: I really don't have any real secrets.
- 1:33:20Speaker 22: I was just listening to your holiday extravaganza. So I
- 1:33:23Speaker 22: called in to say howdy.
- 1:33:25Speaker 15: So.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: Keep up the great work.
- 1:33:27Speaker 12: I still love your guys' show.
- 1:33:28Speaker 20: I'm just always on catch-up.
- 1:33:30Speaker 22: I think I'm trying to tie a metal mic to
- 1:33:32Speaker 22: you on the catch-up routine.
- 1:33:32Speaker 5: Talk to you later.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: Bye. Wait, it's a two-for-one special. Hi, this is Mize.
- 1:33:37Speaker 22: This is going to be one of those times where
- 1:33:39Speaker 22: I call it a million times and I'm talking really
- 1:33:40Speaker 22: fast because I think I'm going to lose connection here
- 1:33:42Speaker 22: in a second. But I think since so many of
- 1:33:45Speaker 22: you have yet to see Children of Men, that you
- 1:33:46Speaker 22: should definitely.
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: Make that an episode.
- 1:33:48Speaker 22: I would love to hear your guys' playback on that.
- 1:33:51Speaker 22: It's just a great story. Hearing you guys bring it
- 1:33:53Speaker 22: up again makes me think that I really need to
- 1:33:55Speaker 22: get the book or the audiobook or something because I'd
- 1:33:57Speaker 22: like to know the full story that it was done on.
- 1:34:00Speaker 22: I went into it knowing nothing, and that just made
- 1:34:02Speaker 22: it wonderful for me. The other thing is I'm so
- 1:34:05Speaker 22: excited that you're going to do Summer School. That was
- 1:34:08Speaker 22: one of my all-time favorite summer goopy movies. I had
- 1:34:11Speaker 22: such a major crush on James Shaw. I adored him.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: I adored the actor.
- 1:34:17Speaker 22: I wanted to hang out with those two. I used
- 1:34:18Speaker 22: to kind of try and make my... It's such a
- 1:34:21Speaker 22: geeky thing, but, you know, we all have our things,
- 1:34:24Speaker 22: and I sometimes was called Psycho while other friends were
- 1:34:27Speaker 22: called different nicknames. I got called Psycho because I like
- 1:34:29Speaker 22: horror movies so much.
- 1:34:30Speaker 19: I just wanted to.
- 1:34:31Speaker 22: Be Chainsaw or his buddy and be like that. That
- 1:34:35Speaker 22: was my goal in life, to be that kind of person.
- 1:34:37Speaker 12: So, anyways, that's all.
- 1:34:41Speaker 22: I'll probably call back again.
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: Bye. Part three. Why is always call from her car?
- 1:34:46Speaker 15: I think.
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: She's out walking the dog. Yeah, walking the dog. Oh,
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: is that what it is? I thought she was in
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: a car or something. I think maybe she was. I
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: don't know. We get a lot of mobile calls from everybody.
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: I know there's been a couple more we get where
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: people are... We get calls, whatever. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: I have no complaints. Oh, I'm not complaining. She just
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: always sounds like she's really busy. She's got a lot
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: of crazy life.
- 1:35:06Speaker 5: It's like on the move.
- 1:35:08Speaker 11: Hey, I'm in free out, but I'm going to make
- 1:35:09Speaker 11: another message.
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: That would be awesome if somebody would do that. Or better, post-op,
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: if you're still kind of coming out of the drugs
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: and you're calling us, that's awesome. Please do that. That's
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: a show. That's true. Right. So, yeah, if you made
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: it to the summer school episode, you'll know that I
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: fall right into that category. And a little... It's frightening
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: how much of a similar geek to Chainsaw I was. So... Yeah,
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: it was a hell of an episode to record. I
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: thoroughly enjoyed the process. Didn't like the editing process, as
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: it was ravaged by fucking Skype, but anyway, whatever. Yeah, otherwise,
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: I thoroughly enjoyed the whole discussion with Katie, and I
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: think it's still a good episode. I did a lot
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: of fighting to edit it together, but, you know, yep,
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: it's a hell of a movie. I'm still sold on
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: that one for life, I'm sorry. All right, that is
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: it for the feedback. Do you guys need to get
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: that one out? No, we need to go. Okay, there
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: you go.
- 1:36:08Speaker 12: We gotta go.
- 1:36:09Speaker 5: We gotta be able to like... Ted Hathaway!
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: Hey, that one is Andy. Good job. All right. It's
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: time to celebrate. You can go on, so you better
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: get the hell out while you're ahead before you point
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: to James Franco and say, We gotta go. I gotta
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: go to work. I gotta burn some shit. Make those
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: tacos and whatnot. Taco J.
- 1:36:33Speaker 8: All right.
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: Well, I want to thank you guys for joining us
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: for another pork-tastic edition of Oscar Meltdown. Barring one or
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: several heart attacks, we will return next year with our
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: continuing Oscar coverage, if you want to call this coverage. Otherwise,
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: that about does it. We will return next week. Same
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: geek time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening. Bye-bye.
- 1:36:53Speaker 12: Bye.
- 1:36:53Speaker 8: Bye.
- 1:36:54Speaker 27: Especially an American girl.
- 1:36:55Speaker 25: You can tell she's been raised on promises.
- 1:37:25Speaker 7: Well, she was an American girl.
- 1:37:33Speaker 12: Raised on promises She couldn't help thinking That there was
- 1:37:40Speaker 12: a little.
- 1:37:41Speaker 7: More to life Somewhere else After all, it was.
- 1:37:47Speaker 12: A great big world With lots of places to run to.
- 1:37:53Speaker 7: Yeah, she had to die to try and she had
- 1:37:58Speaker 7: one little promise she was gonna keep.
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: Oh yeah, all right.
- 1:38:06Speaker 12: Take it easy, baby.
- 1:38:08Speaker 7: Make it last all night. She was an American girl.
- 1:38:19Speaker 12: Well, it was kind of cold that night.
- 1:38:22Speaker 7: She stood alone on a balcony.
- 1:38:27Speaker 12: Yeah, she could hear the cars roll.
- 1:38:30Speaker 7: By at all 441 like waves crashing down the beach
- 1:38:35Speaker 7: desperate moment there he crept back.
- 1:38:45Speaker 12: Oh, yeah.
- 1:38:46Speaker 7: All right. Take it easy, baby. Make it last all night.
- 1:38:57Speaker 12: She was an American.
- 1:39:01Speaker 8: Girl.
- 1:39:02Speaker 12: Oh, yeah.
- 1:39:24Speaker 6: So You may now remove your 3D glasses. Thank you.
- 1:40:21Speaker 19: Look, Coppola, you can just put your Oscars where the
