  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 2:16
SPEAKER_02: And they looked up how much the tickets were.
• 2:18
SPEAKER_02: And we can, and I don't know if they do it in Chicago, but over here you can do private groups.
• 2:23
  SPEAKER_02: So just saying.
• 2:26
SPEAKER_01: Oh, I get too much here.
• 2:27
SPEAKER_01: I can't leave the family because they depend on me to be the grown-up in the house, which sucks the boss.
• 2:32
  SPEAKER_01: Useless excuses.
• 2:33
  SPEAKER_01: I know.
• 2:34
SPEAKER_01: I remember my daughter was 16, and I'm like, oh, she's gonna be 18 in two years.
• 2:39
SPEAKER_01: Because of um of the attire friend group, I was the first one to have a kid.
• 2:43
SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, I'm gonna be free, I'm gonna travel the world, I'm gonna do all this shit.
• 2:48
SPEAKER_02: I think that's the problem is that you're always the adult, and they don't ever have to be.
• 2:53
SPEAKER_01: Okay, no, actually, the reason until she did 18, honestly, I didn't have the money.
• 2:58
  SPEAKER_01: I'm poor, I'm broke.
• 2:59
SPEAKER_01: Like bills, I'm like, I don't have the money to do shit.
• 3:02
  SPEAKER_01: I don't want to do shit.
• 3:03
  SPEAKER_01: You're always doing everything.
• 3:05
SPEAKER_01: People getting sick, like, and when I do leave out of town, people get sick.
• 3:08
SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, fuck out of me.
• 3:09
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's like well, all right.
• 3:10
  SPEAKER_01: I was like, really?
• 3:13
  SPEAKER_01: I was like, that's it.
• 3:14
SPEAKER_02: You really can't think you're just gonna have to bring your mom with you.
• 3:21
  SPEAKER_02: Come on, Mona's a good time.
• 3:24
SPEAKER_02: I can hang with Mona.
• 3:26
SPEAKER_01: I'm going through a tunnel right now.
• 3:28
  SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna lose service.
• 3:32
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, um, yeah, no.
• 3:35
SPEAKER_01: See, at least if I vacation close to home, I leave them in the house, I lock them up too, you know.
• 3:42
  SPEAKER_00: I leave them.
• 3:42
  SPEAKER_02: I have a good idea.
• 3:44
  SPEAKER_02: I got it.
• 3:45
  SPEAKER_02: What?
• 3:45
SPEAKER_02: We'll get like a really nice little Airbnb, and it'll be near your house so you can get a vacation.
• 3:54
SPEAKER_02: But you can still be close enough, you know, in case of adulting.
• 3:59
  SPEAKER_01: That's a really good plan.
• 4:01
SPEAKER_01: I just hate the adulting part.
• 4:05
  SPEAKER_01: All right.
• 4:06
SPEAKER_02: Um Stranger in a Strange Land.
• 4:09
SPEAKER_02: Anything you want to say before we jump in?
• 4:11
  SPEAKER_01: It's a Jack episode.
• 4:13
SPEAKER_01: Like, what what what can I say?
• 4:17
SPEAKER_01: On the island, I'm mad that they don't say in the jungle anymore.
• 4:23
SPEAKER_02: Like, you want you want me to do a really quick synopsis of the flashback?
• 4:28
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 4:29
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 4:30
SPEAKER_02: In flashback, Jack lives on Thailand for a month.
• 4:34
SPEAKER_02: He meets a girl who slips in and out of his bedroom.
• 4:36
SPEAKER_02: She fucks him and leaves.
• 4:38
SPEAKER_02: He buys sodas from a little kid.
• 4:39
  SPEAKER_02: Mr.
• 4:40
  SPEAKER_02: Jack, Mr.
• 4:40
  SPEAKER_02: Jack.
• 4:43
SPEAKER_01: This is like the best synopsis ever.
• 4:45
  SPEAKER_01: Keep going, keep going.
• 4:46
SPEAKER_02: He gets upset when she doesn't tell him shit.
• 4:49
SPEAKER_02: Mind you, he can't even fly a fucking kite.
• 4:52
SPEAKER_02: Falls into his old ways when he thinks that he needs to know what she does.
• 4:56
SPEAKER_02: Like, you let the bitch slip in and out of your your little what the fuck kind of bitch hut do you have?
• 5:05
SPEAKER_02: And then you worry about who's there?
• 5:06
  SPEAKER_02: Who's their motherfucker?
• 5:07
SPEAKER_02: Your house is made out of logs.
• 5:09
SPEAKER_01: My thing is like, who are you to demand all this information from her?
• 5:13
  SPEAKER_01: It's straight, it's a straight pleasure-based relationship.
• 5:18
  SPEAKER_01: Who gives a fuck?
• 5:19
SPEAKER_01: And I like the fact when he's telling her all this shit about his father.
• 5:22
  SPEAKER_01: She's like, I don't give a fuck about the father.
• 5:25
SPEAKER_02: What do you people want?
• 5:27
  SPEAKER_02: Yes.
• 5:28
SPEAKER_02: So he goes and he follows her because he's Jack, and God forbid you don't tell him what he wants to know.
• 5:34
SPEAKER_02: So she f so he follows her, and then somehow he slams her up against the wall in what could have been a really fucking sexy scene if it was like Sawyer.
• 5:46
  SPEAKER_02: Right.
• 5:47
SPEAKER_02: Sawyer made that he would have made that so like that angry smoothly thing.
• 5:51
SPEAKER_02: Take off your pants right now and tattoo me wherever you want.
• 5:54
SPEAKER_02: You want like just like it's Jack, so no.
• 5:58
SPEAKER_02: And then he demands a fucking tattoo.
• 6:02
SPEAKER_02: Somehow she cries because I I don't know, maybe I'm gonna be getting my tattoos at the wrong place.
• 6:08
SPEAKER_02: I've I've I've never found something to cry about.
• 6:12
SPEAKER_01: And if but the whole point is it's just not a tattoo parlor, it's something more, it's spiritual, and this and she said, You are not you're an outside, this isn't and this isn't for you.
• 6:21
SPEAKER_01: So I feel like that's when you say someone's and he's like, fuck you.
• 6:25
SPEAKER_01: He's kind of saying fuck you, fuck your culture, fuck your belief is what I want.
• 6:28
SPEAKER_02: And Jack, and and Jack wants what Jack wants, so Jack has to get.
• 6:33
SPEAKER_02: So he demands she gives him a tattoo, which did any did you find it weird that the tattoo is in Chinese, even though they're in Vietnam?
• 6:42
  SPEAKER_02: Or um in Thailand?
• 6:43
  SPEAKER_01: Thailand.
• 6:44
  SPEAKER_01: Is it in Chinese?
• 6:45
SPEAKER_01: They never said it was in Chinese, did they?
• 6:48
SPEAKER_02: Uh, when the lady, the sheriff, reads a tattoo on the island, she says something about Chinese.
• 6:55
SPEAKER_01: Oh, China, you know what?
• 6:57
  SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
• 6:58
  SPEAKER_01: Good point.
• 6:59
SPEAKER_02: The fuck are you getting a Chinese tattoo in Thailand for?
• 7:03
  SPEAKER_02: Anyway.
• 7:04
SPEAKER_01: Was that a was that like a blooper from the writer's point of view?
• 7:08
  SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
• 7:09
  SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
• 7:09
SPEAKER_02: I guess maybe we'll figure it out as we go through.
• 7:12
SPEAKER_02: And then he gets his tattoo, so he gets what he wants, and then he gets his ass kicked for it.
• 7:17
  SPEAKER_02: Thank God.
• 7:18
SPEAKER_02: And what the fuck is he doing in Thailand for a month?
• 7:21
SPEAKER_01: Okay, did okay, maybe I'm getting my shows confused because I still the fucking kite.
• 7:27
  SPEAKER_01: Sorry, go ahead.
• 7:28
SPEAKER_01: Which show was it that he had to get his father from Thailand every so often?
• 7:32
SPEAKER_01: Was it this show or wasn't something?
• 7:34
SPEAKER_02: Well, it was it was this, but he had to get him from Australia.
• 7:37
SPEAKER_01: No, but I feel like there was a show that I watched that they had to go and get his father from Thailand like once a month.
• 7:44
SPEAKER_01: It might be another show.
• 7:45
SPEAKER_02: No, I don't think it was this one.
• 7:46
  SPEAKER_02: I don't remember that.
• 7:48
  SPEAKER_01: Um that's that's my flashback.
• 7:50
SPEAKER_01: But I was fine, I think it's telling that everyone goes to Thailand, supposedly, and I don't really want to disparage the country.
• 7:58
SPEAKER_01: But I feel Americans go to Thailand to do like for like as one of the countries that you go to to do things that are not above board, yes.
• 8:07
  SPEAKER_01: And I we don't, like I said, I I don't want to disparage the country.
• 8:10
SPEAKER_01: I'm disparaging us Americans, but anyway.
• 8:12
SPEAKER_02: That's a lot of their tourism, you know, their their money.
• 8:15
SPEAKER_00: But I feel like it's like one of those, like I think it's like it's telling that he goes to Thailand.
• 8:21
SPEAKER_01: This straight stick up your ass guy who wants to have control of everything goes to one of the countries with nothing, like there is no judgment, there is no gift, there is no there's no ex you can't control anything, it is what it is, and I find it telling that they have him in Thailand of all countries.
• 8:42
  SPEAKER_01: I just I don't know.
• 8:43
SPEAKER_02: Let's talk about on island.
• 8:46
SPEAKER_02: Oh, and and you know it's bad in the flashback when even the little boy, no more Mr.
• 8:50
  SPEAKER_02: Jack, Mr.
• 8:51
SPEAKER_02: Jack, even he is like, nope.
• 8:53
SPEAKER_01: Because he sh he he shitted on their culture, he shitted on who they were.
• 8:59
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, you get your fucking ass beat.
• 9:02
  SPEAKER_01: What?
• 9:03
SPEAKER_01: I said we do it in Brooklyn.
• 9:04
  unknown: Okay.
• 9:06
  SPEAKER_02: Let Mr.
• 9:06
  SPEAKER_02: Jack come to Brooklyn.
• 9:08
SPEAKER_02: Come on, walk down Court Street, you see.
• 9:10
SPEAKER_02: But actually, now it's yeah, well, okay.
• 9:14
SPEAKER_02: Anyway, Tom enters the aquarium in order to move Jack, but Jack accuses him of using it as a euphemism for execution.
• 9:25
SPEAKER_02: Tom asks him what kind of people he thinks the others are, and Jack rattles off a list of their crimes.
• 9:32
SPEAKER_02: Tom asks if Jack wants some stones for his glass house.
• 9:38
SPEAKER_02: You go, Tom, and suggests he cooperate.
• 9:43
SPEAKER_02: Jack acquiesces and is escorted out by Tom and two others.
• 9:47
SPEAKER_01: So about the Chinese tattoo, because it was kind of bugging me.
• 9:51
SPEAKER_01: There is a minority group of Chinese that live in Thailand.
• 9:56
  SPEAKER_02: All right then.
• 9:57
SPEAKER_01: So this particular she may be a Chinese Thai.
• 10:00
SPEAKER_01: Did I say that right?
• 10:01
  SPEAKER_01: I I don't know.
• 10:03
SPEAKER_01: But Okay, but that's it.
• 10:07
SPEAKER_02: As he is let out, he passes Juliet being led into the aquarium with her hands in cups and restrained by a group of the others.
• 10:15
SPEAKER_02: As they pass, Juliet says to Jack, hey.
• 10:18
SPEAKER_02: And Juliet stares at Jack from her cell as Tom confers with the female other.
• 10:23
SPEAKER_02: Like this is like the new USA show, locked up on an island.
• 10:29
SPEAKER_02: Love, love on an island, locked up or something.
• 10:32
  SPEAKER_02: Hey.
• 10:33
SPEAKER_01: I'm so dumb with you.
• 10:37
SPEAKER_02: Listen, this episode is we gotta do something.
• 10:43
SPEAKER_02: Tom brings Jack lunch in the bear cage, and Jack asks who the mysterious other woman was.
• 10:50
SPEAKER_02: Tom refers to her as the figurative sheriff.
• 10:53
SPEAKER_02: Jack asks why they moved Juliet, and Tom tells him she's in trouble.
• 10:57
SPEAKER_02: Jack is told not to start any trouble.
• 11:00
SPEAKER_02: Jack says he knows about the cameras.
• 11:02
SPEAKER_02: He also says that Tom's sandwiches are shit and he liked the way Juliet made them, but I'm sure there's a he has a very valid point there.
• 11:10
SPEAKER_01: Because knowing Tom probably shit to Juliet's sandwich.
• 11:13
  SPEAKER_01: Ew.
• 11:17
  SPEAKER_01: He likes her taco.
• 11:22
SPEAKER_02: More like grilled cheese, but I don't know what that would be.
• 11:25
  SPEAKER_01: I can't do it.
• 11:32
SPEAKER_02: Juliette is escorted to Jack's cage so that she can request that Jack help Ben with an infection around his stitches.
• 11:40
SPEAKER_02: Again, he asks if she wants him to help Ben so she can go home, but she reveals that she is doing it to get out of trouble for killing someone.
• 11:48
  SPEAKER_02: Jack refuses to help.
• 11:49
SPEAKER_02: But Jack doesn't know who she killed.
• 11:52
SPEAKER_02: So do you think Jack thinks that he might have killed like Sawyer or Kate?
• 11:58
  SPEAKER_01: No.
• 11:58
SPEAKER_01: I just think at this point he doesn't give a fuck.
• 12:01
SPEAKER_02: At night, the older woman approaches Jack and speaks Chinese, explaining that she is reading the characters in Jack's tattoo.
• 12:09
SPEAKER_02: She comments that the meaning is ironic and then asks Jack if he knows what it means, since it can be hard to translate.
• 12:18
SPEAKER_02: Jack insists that he does because Jack fucking knows everything.
• 12:21
SPEAKER_01: So wait, does she say do you know what it means?
• 12:23
SPEAKER_01: Or does she say, Do you know what it says?
• 12:26
SPEAKER_01: No, I think she says, Do you know what it says?
• 12:29
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 12:29
SPEAKER_01: And then he goes, I know what it means.
• 12:32
  SPEAKER_01: Aha.
• 12:34
SPEAKER_02: Introducing herself as Isabel, she asks that he come to a room in the hydro so she can ask him some questions.
• 12:41
SPEAKER_02: They pass Alex, whom Isabel Isabel firmly suggests she visit her father.
• 12:46
SPEAKER_02: Isabel faces Jack as Tom and Juliet look on.
• 12:50
SPEAKER_02: Juliet is sitting on a chair with her hands bound.
• 12:53
SPEAKER_02: Isabel asks if Juliet asks that Isabel asks if Juliet asks Jack to kill Ben.
• 13:04
SPEAKER_02: Jack denies it, saying he made it up to gain an advantage.
• 13:10
SPEAKER_02: Isabel asks him why he's lying, and he requests to be returned to his cage.
• 13:15
SPEAKER_01: Not for nothing, these people.
• 13:17
SPEAKER_01: The others have some set of brass balls.
• 13:22
SPEAKER_01: Like the I'm supposed to, you kept me, my friends, captive.
• 13:30
  SPEAKER_01: You've harassed us.
• 13:31
SPEAKER_01: Like we would deserve all like seriously, they would just innocently desert, like crash into this island, not bothering nobody.
• 13:37
SPEAKER_01: And you're over here causing mayhem and chaos and shit.
• 13:41
SPEAKER_01: But I'm supposed to just like be part of your little inquest.
• 13:45
  SPEAKER_01: Suck my dick.
• 13:46
SPEAKER_02: Like, but then he concedes, and and he's like, nope, I made it all up.
• 13:51
SPEAKER_02: Like five minutes ago, you were like, Fuck you, Juliet.
• 13:54
  SPEAKER_02: I'm not helping.
• 13:55
SPEAKER_02: And now you're like, no, no, no, it's all my fault because I'm Jack and I'm the savior and I'm gonna save you.
• 14:02
SPEAKER_01: You know how I feel about him.
• 14:03
  SPEAKER_01: Love him so much.
• 14:04
  SPEAKER_01: My favorite character.
• 14:09
SPEAKER_02: Jack wakes in the morning to a group of others watching him.
• 14:12
SPEAKER_02: A woman approaches and he recognizes her as Cindy, the flight attendant.
• 14:17
SPEAKER_02: Well, hey, Cindy, what's up, girl?
• 14:19
  SPEAKER_02: And he asks her.
• 14:20
  SPEAKER_02: Hey girl, hey.
• 14:21
  SPEAKER_02: She is with them.
• 14:22
SPEAKER_02: Cindy responds that it's not that simple and claims they are here to watch.
• 14:27
  SPEAKER_01: Watch what?
• 14:28
SPEAKER_01: That whole scene had me like, what the fuck?
• 14:31
SPEAKER_01: I'm not high enough, drunk enough, or fucked up enough to pay it to understand this scene.
• 14:36
SPEAKER_02: A young girl unknown to Jack, Emma from the tale section, approaches and has Cindy ask Jack how Anna Lucia is doing.
• 14:45
  SPEAKER_02: Which angers Jack.
• 14:48
SPEAKER_01: This is a goddamn zoo.
• 14:49
  SPEAKER_01: Like what?
• 14:50
SPEAKER_01: Like, how are they just watching him and like, wow, this is interesting?
• 14:53
SPEAKER_01: Like, what the fuck, people?
• 14:56
SPEAKER_02: He yells at Cindy to go.
• 14:58
SPEAKER_02: She and the others leave, including a young boy, Zach, who hands his teddy bear to his sister Emma.
• 15:05
SPEAKER_02: But from that, we realize that Cindy is still alive and you know, she doesn't look like she's hurt or anything, and the kids are, you know, sufficient.
• 15:14
SPEAKER_01: Well, you could tell, like, based on the list, like what whatever season it was, and the people that were worthy, they were kidnapping.
• 15:21
SPEAKER_01: So it's kind of you kind of like could can guess that they weren't gonna be killed.
• 15:25
SPEAKER_01: Because you know what I mean?
• 15:27
  SPEAKER_01: Because they were worthy.
• 15:29
SPEAKER_01: But all of this is just weird.
• 15:31
  SPEAKER_01: Why are you watching?
• 15:32
SPEAKER_01: And why are you okay with watching?
• 15:34
SPEAKER_01: Like, what are you like what Kool-Aid are you drinking?
• 16:05
SPEAKER_02: After the crowd disperses, Alex throws a stone at the security camera outside Jack's cage and breaks it.
• 16:12
SPEAKER_02: Sally slingshot, like Sawyer calls her.
• 16:17
  SPEAKER_01: Very effective.
• 16:19
SPEAKER_02: She asks Jack why he would help Ben after what he did to Jack.
• 16:24
SPEAKER_02: Jack demands to know what is going on with Juliet.
• 16:28
  unknown: Jack.
• 16:30
SPEAKER_02: Alex explains that they are reading Juliet's verdict.
• 16:33
SPEAKER_02: They are strict about killing their own, demanding an eye for an eye.
• 16:38
SPEAKER_02: She reveals that Juliet killed Danny to help Sawyer and Kate escape.
• 16:42
SPEAKER_02: In return, Jack tells her that he helped Ben simply because he said that he would.
• 16:47
SPEAKER_02: He asks if Ben is still in charge.
• 16:51
SPEAKER_02: And Jack tells her to get him out of the cage and take him to Ben.
• 16:56
SPEAKER_02: Jack storms into the operating room.
• 17:00
  SPEAKER_02: Me, Jack.
• 17:02
  SPEAKER_02: Me here.
• 17:04
SPEAKER_01: Me hero, me martyr, me piece of shit.
• 17:09
SPEAKER_02: And warns a make-do nurse in the room that they aren't treating Ben properly.
• 17:15
SPEAKER_02: Ben's wounds are seriously infected, and it's possible he might not walk again.
• 17:20
SPEAKER_02: Jack says he'd be more impressed if they had a proper surgeon.
• 17:23
SPEAKER_02: And Ben says they used to have one, Ethan.
• 17:26
  SPEAKER_02: I fucking love Ben.
• 17:27
  SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry.
• 17:28
SPEAKER_01: Like Ben No, I do too.
• 17:31
SPEAKER_01: His character is good, bad, or indifferent.
• 17:34
  SPEAKER_01: His character is interesting.
• 17:36
SPEAKER_01: His little one-liners like I like him too.
• 17:39
  SPEAKER_01: Much better than Jack.
• 17:41
SPEAKER_01: Shit, I like the smoke monster better than Jack.
• 17:47
SPEAKER_02: Um Jack bargains with Ben, offering him proper treatment in return for him commuting Juliet's death sentence.
• 17:55
SPEAKER_02: Ben is like, and what's this gonna cost me?
• 18:00
  SPEAKER_02: Ben warns.
• 18:00
  SPEAKER_02: Jack lied.
• 18:02
  SPEAKER_00: You know.
• 18:02
SPEAKER_02: Ben warns him that whatever Jack thinks Juliet did to help him, she's still one of us.
• 18:07
SPEAKER_02: But Jack presses on and Ben prepares to write down his orders.
• 18:11
SPEAKER_02: Now Jack and Alex storm over to the deliberation room.
• 18:15
  SPEAKER_02: Me, Jack, me here.
• 18:18
SPEAKER_01: Me, Jack, me hero, me martyr, me piece of shit.
• 18:22
SPEAKER_02: Where a group of others are ready to give Juliet's verdict as she looks on.
• 18:26
SPEAKER_02: Tom grabs Jack, but Isabel stops him and takes Ben's orders from Alex.
• 18:31
SPEAKER_02: Ben has commuted Juliet's sentence as the rules don't apply, but also ordered her to be marked.
• 18:39
SPEAKER_02: Later, Juliet, looking gaunt but stoic, brings Jack a grilled sandwich with toothpicks to him in his bear cage.
• 18:48
SPEAKER_02: He asks to see her mark, and she reveals a brand with a small circle and eight radiating lines on her lower back.
• 18:56
SPEAKER_01: Okay, something with the whole toothpick thing.
• 18:58
  SPEAKER_01: I don't know why I noticed it too.
• 19:00
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, what's the like what why?
• 19:04
SPEAKER_01: You trying to make the you're trying to make the grill cheese sandwich fancy?
• 19:08
SPEAKER_01: Like, and what are you holding it together?
• 19:10
SPEAKER_01: Like, what do you try to hold together?
• 19:11
  SPEAKER_01: Cheese and bread.
• 19:12
SPEAKER_01: Not like you have like one of those okay, speaker.
• 19:14
SPEAKER_02: They stick together pretty well on their own.
• 19:16
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 19:17
SPEAKER_02: He points to an aloe bush and gets her to bring him a leaf, which he applies to her raw brand.
• 19:25
SPEAKER_02: She asks why he helped her.
• 19:28
SPEAKER_02: He says he did it so that Ben would keep his word and let both of them leave the island.
• 19:33
SPEAKER_02: She asks how and Jack says together.
• 19:36
  SPEAKER_02: Insert eye roll here.
• 19:38
SPEAKER_02: Juliet informs him that they have to go back to where they live because Jack's friends will come to the island to look for him.
• 19:44
SPEAKER_02: Jack asks where and she says that Ben calls it home.
• 19:49
SPEAKER_02: On the other island, Sawyer sings, well, it's not even on the island.
• 19:54
SPEAKER_02: Sawyer sings to himself while he and Kate row back to the main island in the canoe with an unconscious Carl.
• 20:01
SPEAKER_02: Kate tries to convince Sawyer to turn around so they can rescue Jack, but Sawyer, incredulous, says it's too dangerous, and a semi- semi-lucid Carl agrees that the others would kill them.
• 20:13
SPEAKER_02: Carl mutters a phrase from the room 23 video and falls back asleep.
• 20:17
SPEAKER_02: He says, What does he say?
• 20:19
  SPEAKER_02: Jacob?
• 20:20
SPEAKER_02: He he loves you just as Jacob?
• 20:22
  SPEAKER_02: Something like that.
• 20:23
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 20:25
SPEAKER_02: Sawyer and Kate continue to bicker on the canoe.
• 20:28
SPEAKER_02: Sawyer is rowing towards the nearest part of the shoreline, but Kate wants to row all the way to the main camp to get help from Locke and Said.
• 20:36
SPEAKER_02: Sawyer becomes angry and points out that they have no food, no water, and no map, and that he can't steer in the dark.
• 20:44
SPEAKER_02: He tells her if she wants to contribute, she can gather firewood, and without waiting for her reply, snaps, glad we agree.
• 20:52
SPEAKER_02: Kate gives him an angry look as they continue to shore.
• 20:58
SPEAKER_02: Over a campfire, while it's still light out, Sawyer offers Kate fruit, which she refuses.
• 21:05
SPEAKER_02: Carl tells them they shouldn't fight because they are lucky to be alive.
• 21:10
SPEAKER_02: Kate asks Carl about the others.
• 21:12
SPEAKER_02: He reveals that they live on the island, the main island, and only work on projects on the smaller island.
• 21:21
  SPEAKER_02: I like Sawyer's response here.
• 21:23
  SPEAKER_00: He's like, backyards?
• 21:25
SPEAKER_02: No, no, but he's like, he's like, well, what?
• 21:27
SPEAKER_02: Like steal the kid off the raft project?
• 21:29
SPEAKER_02: Oh, that one too, yeah.
• 21:31
SPEAKER_02: Um, as for the children that were kidnapped, they gave them a better life.
• 21:36
SPEAKER_02: And when Kate asks, better than what, he says, better than yours.
• 21:39
SPEAKER_02: And that was like, what the fuck to me?
• 21:42
SPEAKER_00: Like everything, like, I like what the hell are the others doing?
• 21:46
  SPEAKER_00: What is their purpose?
• 21:47
SPEAKER_00: What is the what is going on?
• 21:49
SPEAKER_00: This is like the island version of Waco.
• 21:52
  SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
• 21:52
SPEAKER_00: None of it makes sense to me.
• 21:54
SPEAKER_02: He predicts that there won't be a moon that night and says that when he and Alex were younger, they used to lie out at night in their backyards and make up their own name for constellations.
• 22:05
  SPEAKER_02: Kate wakes up.
• 22:07
SPEAKER_02: Well, and and and now is Sawyer's like perplexed.
• 22:10
SPEAKER_00: He's like, Because he didn't see what we saw and the initial, like when the plane first hit.
• 22:20
SPEAKER_02: That they're actually kind of civilized and just quote unquote.
• 22:25
SPEAKER_01: Like regular people in their regular people who some reason live on their own community in the island doing some kind of shady experiments.
• 22:34
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 22:36
SPEAKER_02: And stealing kids off wraps.
• 22:38
SPEAKER_02: But yeah, totally totally normal.
• 22:40
  SPEAKER_02: Totally.
• 22:41
SPEAKER_02: Kate wakes up and sees that Carl has disappeared.
• 22:44
SPEAKER_02: She shakes Sawyer awake and they begin to search for him.
• 22:47
SPEAKER_02: But they hear Carl nearby crying, and Sawyer tells him he will deal with him, boys only.
• 22:55
SPEAKER_02: Sawyer punches Carl in the shoulder and tells him to cowboy up.
• 23:00
SPEAKER_02: Sawyer comforts him and suggests he go back for Alex, though Carl says they would kill him this time.
• 23:07
SPEAKER_02: Sawyer suggests that for a girl he would name dumb stars with, it might be worth it.
• 23:16
SPEAKER_02: Kate argues with Sawyer about letting Carl go.
• 23:18
SPEAKER_02: She complains about him ordering her around.
• 23:21
SPEAKER_02: Sawyer says she's just angry because she feels guilty, not about leaving Jack, but for having sex with Sawyer.
• 23:27
SPEAKER_01: That made me sad because this scene made me realize like he's like, this is not gonna work.
• 23:33
SPEAKER_01: Like he is you can see he's hurt.
• 23:35
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's just like this is it.
• 23:37
SPEAKER_01: Oh my yeah, I'm sad.
• 23:40
  SPEAKER_01: That broke my heart.
• 23:41
SPEAKER_02: He says she only did it because she thought he was going to die.
• 23:45
SPEAKER_02: A speechless and hurt Kate simply tries to brush off the common and the two move on.
• 23:51
SPEAKER_02: Later that night, Sawyer looks sadly after Kate as she leads the way as they head back towards their camp.
• 23:58
SPEAKER_02: Elsewhere, Carl sits by a fire and looks up at the stars.
• 24:03
SPEAKER_02: Back with the others, they're gathered around a boat, and Isabel tells Jack his tattoo reads, He walks amongst us, but he is not one of us.
• 24:13
SPEAKER_02: Jack says the Chinese letters may say that, but that isn't what they mean.
• 24:28
SPEAKER_02: Later, Alex looks up sadly at the same night sky that Carl looks at at the same time as he sits in his camp on the island.
• 24:39
SPEAKER_02: That reminds me of um Fivel, an American tale, the little mouse.
• 24:43
  SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
• 24:44
SPEAKER_02: They should have just stayed like somewhere out there.
• 24:47
  SPEAKER_01: I love that song.
• 24:49
SPEAKER_02: Juliet looks back at Jack as they and the others travel through the night on the larger boat.
• 24:58
SPEAKER_01: And that's the end of the episode.
• 25:01
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 25:02
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 25:02
SPEAKER_01: I have nothing to say about the episode, and nothing.
• 25:05
SPEAKER_01: There were scenes where I'm like, what the fuck is this shit?
• 25:08
SPEAKER_01: And then I forgot about it.
• 25:11
  SPEAKER_01: Like and moved on.
• 25:12
SPEAKER_01: So I have no comments on this episode.
• 25:14
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 25:14
  SPEAKER_02: Let's do trivia.
• 25:16
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 25:17
SPEAKER_02: This is the last Jack-centric flashback episode ever that is centric solely to Jack.
• 25:27
SPEAKER_02: So this is the last one.
• 25:30
  SPEAKER_02: Ooh.
• 25:32
  SPEAKER_02: Um.
• 25:35
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 25:35
SPEAKER_02: Jack's tattoo does not literally translate to he walks amongst us, but he is not one of us, as Isabel explains.
• 25:43
SPEAKER_02: It translates correctly in Chinese to Eagle's High Cleaving Sky.
• 25:50
SPEAKER_02: The tattoo is a real one owned by the actor Matthew Fox, in addition to the one to one on his forearm.
• 25:58
SPEAKER_02: In the flashback, just as Achara is about to tattoo him and he is shirtless, the tattoo appears to be either covered or perhaps with a seam, horizontally flipped in editing.
• 26:11
  SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
• 26:23
SPEAKER_02: Like Ben and Tom in A Tale of Two Cities, Isabel, when talking to Jack, does a subtle version of the Namaste Bao.
• 26:31
SPEAKER_02: This is the first Jack flashback episode where his father, Christian Shepard, does not appear.
• 26:39
SPEAKER_01: Because not everything is not these Shepherd men.
• 26:42
SPEAKER_01: Funny how Derek Shepard on Gray's Anatomy.
• 26:46
SPEAKER_01: Okay, when you're watching the show, like sometimes every once in a blue moon, I'll binge watch from the beginning.
• 26:52
SPEAKER_01: And when you're watching it straight through, like a crackhead that I am, Derek, even if you didn't watch it, Derek is such a narcissist.
• 26:59
SPEAKER_01: Like I did funny how both these shepherds want to shepherd the people around them into their lives, into little spots and little spaces.
• 27:07
SPEAKER_01: Ha look up ha names, shepherding.
• 27:11
  SPEAKER_01: Yep.
• 27:12
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 27:12
SPEAKER_01: My brain is done working for the week.
• 27:15
  SPEAKER_01: Catching next week, people.
• 27:18
SPEAKER_02: As far as the title goes, um, I I think that the on-island connection is that in the in the acute meaning is is literally Jack is with the others, you know, a stranger.
• 27:40
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 27:41
SPEAKER_02: Um, but the bigger island meaning is could go either way, you know, as far as the survivors go, they're in a strange land.
• 27:51
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 27:52
SPEAKER_02: And and the others can think like, you know, they're the stranger.
• 27:58
SPEAKER_02: And the off-island, I think that's pretty obvious, you know.
• 28:02
  SPEAKER_02: But yeah.
• 28:04
  SPEAKER_02: What else?
• 28:06
SPEAKER_02: Oh, on okay, on day seven, Jack playfully refused to tell Kate where and how he got his tattoos.
• 28:14
  SPEAKER_02: Right.
• 28:15
SPEAKER_02: On day 61, Jack told Sawyer he learned to play poker in Phuket.
• 28:21
SPEAKER_02: Sawyer also asks if that's where he got his tattoos, but Jack doesn't answer him.
• 28:25
SPEAKER_01: He didn't want any memories of him get his ass beat.
• 28:29
SPEAKER_01: And I'm sure in his mind he felt like he was the wrong one.
• 28:33
SPEAKER_01: Come on, give me trivia that's gonna cheat me.
• 28:37
SPEAKER_01: That's that's gonna tell me something about the the future of the show.
• 28:40
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there there really isn't.
• 28:42
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 28:43
  SPEAKER_02: That's that's it.
• 28:46
SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's pretty much it, right?
• 28:50
  SPEAKER_02: For the episode.
• 28:51
  SPEAKER_02: I mean, I believe so.
• 28:54
SPEAKER_01: I think I gave this episode more attention than it deserved.
• 28:57
SPEAKER_02: This this episode is widely regarded in Lost Land as the worst episode of the entire series.
• 29:06
  SPEAKER_01: Really?
• 29:07
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 29:09
SPEAKER_02: And like the thing is that I I can kind of see where they were going.
• 29:15
SPEAKER_02: Like with the whole tattoo thing, you know, he walk he walks amongst us, but he's not one of us, like okay.
• 29:21
SPEAKER_02: But you made it out to be so much more than more, like it wasn't that big of a deal.
• 29:31
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, just whatever.
• 29:34
SPEAKER_02: Um the next episode is Trisha Tanaka is dead, and this is a Hurley episode.
• 29:44
SPEAKER_02: We haven't had a Hurley episode in a while.
• 29:47
  SPEAKER_02: Yay, I love Hurley.
• 29:49
SPEAKER_02: So I am excited about that because hurly episodes are usually pretty good.
• 29:55
SPEAKER_02: Um, yes, you know, pretty you are you try because you said they're usually pretty good.
• 30:00
SPEAKER_02: Are you trying to like I'm trying to not comment?
• 30:04
SPEAKER_02: No, I'm just trying to like not comment my own wow, blank too sober.
• 30:13
  SPEAKER_02: That's a problem.
• 30:15
SPEAKER_02: My own idea, my own opinion.
• 30:20
  SPEAKER_02: That's the word.
• 30:20
SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to not put my own opinion on the episode through the course of the show.
• 30:27
SPEAKER_02: We agree that hurly episodes are good.
• 30:31
SPEAKER_01: You could you could honestly give me your opinion on the episode because whether you liked it or not really doesn't make a difference.
• 30:36
  SPEAKER_01: Not that I don't care.
• 30:38
  SPEAKER_01: It doesn't really affect.
• 30:40
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 30:41
SPEAKER_01: Now if you want to tell me like all the secrets for the whole series, I won't mind either.
• 30:46
SPEAKER_02: Um I will say this, right?
• 30:50
SPEAKER_02: After Trisha Tanaka is dead, the next one, I think that one that one gives us a little like, what?
• 31:00
  SPEAKER_02: Ooh.
• 31:01
SPEAKER_02: Trisha Tanaka, I don't re I don't from my memory, I don't remember it doing any like having those moments.
• 31:09
SPEAKER_02: I I remember being just like a good hurly episode, but enter 7-7 is like what the fuck?
• 31:17
  SPEAKER_02: What?
• 31:18
SPEAKER_02: So yeah, that commercial cracks me up.
• 31:23
SPEAKER_01: The shingles commercial, shingles, what okay?
• 31:31
SPEAKER_02: On that note, please join us here next time for Trisha Tanaka is dead.
• 31:38
SPEAKER_02: But in the meantime, so is my spirit.
• 31:43
SPEAKER_02: In the meantime, please stay tuned.

• 32:24
  SPEAKER_02: I didn't mean it in a bad way.
• 32:26
SPEAKER_02: You know, just stand on the street and tell people to listen.
• 32:30
SPEAKER_01: Because for half a second, I thought you were channeling me.
• 32:33
SPEAKER_01: Like you're just gonna be bothered fucking.
• 32:35
SPEAKER_02: Well, I mean, if the shoe fits, but kidding.

• 32:52
SPEAKER_02: And as always, do not drink and drive, drink responsibly.
• 32:56
  SPEAKER_02: Drink in bed.
• 33:00
SPEAKER_02: That's the best place to drink.
• 33:03
  SPEAKER_01: Seriously, I should know.
• 33:05
SPEAKER_01: That's all we do is drink in bed.
• 33:07
SPEAKER_01: No, but sometimes I do drink on the couch because I drink in my backyard, you know.
• 33:12
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, change the scenery.
• 33:13
  SPEAKER_02: Yes, there you go.
• 33:15
SPEAKER_02: And until next time, I'm Lisa.
• 33:19
SPEAKER_02: And I'm Agnes, and we are out of here.
