- 0:00Speaker 1: Back with Gino live here at the Hollow Restaurant.
- 0:02Speaker 2: We've got a great crowd here.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I hope you all enjoyed dinner thanks to Todd and
- 0:05Speaker 1: his staff. Todd does a great job here, that's for sure.
- 0:08Speaker 1: There he is, Todd right over there. Todd, thanks for
- 0:10Speaker 1: bringing to the speakers again. Thanks to your DJ friend.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Much appreciated. First bracket reveal came out on Saturday. I
- 0:17Speaker 1: don't know if you pay attention to that stuff. That's
- 0:19Speaker 1: for the fans and the social media folks. Yukon UCLA,
- 0:22Speaker 1: South Carolina Vandy at the time was the fourth number one.
- 0:27Speaker 1: They lost to Georgia on Sunday, so they'll drop. Yeah,
- 0:31Speaker 1: so there was dropping. They'll probably flip flop with Texas.
- 0:34Speaker 3: But if it'll barely beat Tennessee.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Right right, So if the season ended today, in theory,
- 0:40Speaker 1: now a lot's going to change in a month, it
- 0:42Speaker 1: would be Yukon, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma. By the way,
- 0:46Speaker 1: just of the top sixteen reveal, you know, the non
- 0:49Speaker 1: conference schedules worked out pretty good. Michigan, Louisville, Ohio State,
- 0:53Speaker 1: Iowa or all in the top sixteen and you've played
- 0:56Speaker 1: them all. Yeah, so those those games get looked better
- 1:00Speaker 1: and better, I know, with each and every week.
- 1:03Speaker 3: That's how much the game has changed, though a little bit.
- 1:06Speaker 4: In two thousand, we played in the final four in Philadelphia, Okay.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Between our conference schedule and our non conference schedule, when
- 1:20Speaker 4: we got to the regionals, of the sixteen teams in
- 1:26Speaker 4: the regionals that year, I think we have played twelve
- 1:31Speaker 4: or thirteen.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Two thousands, so you played.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Played everybody, and the final four was Rutgers, Penn State, Tennessee,
- 1:41Speaker 4: and US. And I think we have played Tennessee maybe
- 1:43Speaker 4: twice or three times. I don't know twice, at least twice.
- 1:46Speaker 2: That was still the time we Heah played them twice.
- 1:48Speaker 3: We had played Rutgers two or three.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Times, we had played Penn State down in Florida, everybody,
- 1:55Speaker 4: and so by the time we got to the regionals,
- 1:57Speaker 4: it was like we've already played all these guys.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Didn't you play Oklahoma in twenty and sweet sixteen?
- 2:03Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 2:04Speaker 3: That's a good question. I don't know.
- 2:06Speaker 4: I don't remember. In two thousand, No, we played in Richmond.
- 2:11Speaker 4: I think was it two thousand we played in Richmond.
- 2:14Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't remember. All they all run together.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yeah, one of your beat LSU and the Elite eight
- 2:19Speaker 1: that I know, but Philly was backyard.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah, we beat LSU and the elite in Richmond.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Okay, in Richmond, and then you backdoored Tennessee to death
- 2:29Speaker 1: from the black top of Italy that summer that I
- 2:34Speaker 1: remember very well. But you don't worry about that stuff,
- 2:36Speaker 1: do you.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I mean, it's no, no, you can't worry about it.
- 2:39Speaker 4: So when people go, oh my god, you know all
- 2:42Speaker 4: these teams, well, you don't have to beat all of them.
- 2:45Speaker 4: You're only going to have to beat a couple of them,
- 2:47Speaker 4: the ones in your bracket, you know, which is hard
- 2:51Speaker 4: enough as it is. So you're constantly trying to think
- 2:57Speaker 4: about who, if you were to pick, who's gonna kind
- 3:01Speaker 4: of be there, and what are they gonna, what kind
- 3:06Speaker 4: of problems they're gonna are they going to present? And
- 3:09Speaker 4: you try to hopefully do enough things in practice or
- 3:13Speaker 4: doing the during the games to kind of get get
- 3:16Speaker 4: ready for that, you know, but you can't prepare for well,
- 3:20Speaker 4: you can. You can prepare for every everything and expect anything.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Like if you're home around the road and you're watching
- 3:27Speaker 1: another game, mental.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Notes, You scribble little notes down what do you know
- 3:31Speaker 3: or just watching.
- 3:34Speaker 4: I watched a little bit of South Carolina L s
- 3:37Speaker 4: U and I think South Carolina.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Is really good. Yeah.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I think they're really good. They're playing really good too.
- 3:46Speaker 4: I watched a little bit of Vonova Creighton last night.
- 3:52Speaker 4: I've not seen a lot of a lot of the games. Yeah,
- 4:00Speaker 4: because if I watch them, I go, man, they're way
- 4:02Speaker 4: better than us. Then I'm gonna hate my team. And
- 4:04Speaker 4: I don't want to do that, you know, Like you know,
- 4:07Speaker 4: people go, oh, you know, some people think the glass
- 4:10Speaker 4: is half empty. Some people think it's glasses half full.
- 4:14Speaker 4: I'm like, what glass like? I hate them allt I
- 4:19Speaker 4: what would are I don't like. I'd rather not look
- 4:23Speaker 4: at it. I just want to concentrate.
- 4:25Speaker 3: On my team.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Yeah you well, I don't even like watching film of
- 4:28Speaker 4: our game after we win or lose.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Well, if we like, I don't. I hate watching games
- 4:35Speaker 3: that we just played. I do. I really do. I
- 4:39Speaker 3: hate it.
- 4:40Speaker 4: I mean I have to, but I hate it because
- 4:42Speaker 4: when I watch this play during the game, I'm like, man,
- 4:47Speaker 4: it looked really good a bunch of time. Then I
- 4:50Speaker 4: go watch and go back and watch the film of
- 4:53Speaker 4: the game, and I go we are so terrible, it's unbelievable.
- 4:57Speaker 3: So I'd rather not watch. I mean, I have to,
- 5:01Speaker 3: I know, but it's.
- 5:03Speaker 1: So you have a laptop on the plane ready to go.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I mean, I see Tanya and Jamil because it happened,
- 5:08Speaker 1: you know, on the plane they're always having laptops in front.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Are you on the plane?
- 5:11Speaker 3: I'm reading. I'm reading a book that I brought with me.
- 5:14Speaker 3: I am not. I'm not that. I'm not watching that game.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Ready after the game?
- 5:17Speaker 2: Now what are you reading these days? I just finished reading.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Books? Say nothing.
- 5:24Speaker 4: I don't know if anybody sold the series on TV
- 5:27Speaker 4: about the troubles in Northern Ireland, and I thought it
- 5:31Speaker 4: was fascinating book.
- 5:33Speaker 3: I like that kind of stuff.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Uh, choosing something from some of my former players told
- 5:44Speaker 4: me I should.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Read a book called All Fours.
- 5:48Speaker 4: They ready know that book and I asked them why
- 5:51Speaker 4: and they go, because you don't understand. It's a book
- 5:54Speaker 4: about why women think men are stupid, something like that,
- 6:00Speaker 4: which would come from Sue and those guys, you know.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Okay, And on that note, we'll take a break back
- 6:04Speaker 1: with you know what Senior Day is coming up Sunday.
- 6:06Speaker 2: We'll get into that in a minute.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Here.
- 6:08Speaker 1: This is the Ukon of Women's Basketball Coaches show on Learfield.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Back in a minute.
