  Speaker 2: a mainstay for Appalachian Championship Wrestling. In fact, she won

  Speaker 2: acw's Newcomer of the Year in twenty twenty four, and

  Speaker 2: was recently featured on the national stage for All Elite Wrestling,

  Speaker 2: facing off against Meghan Baine, which has created all kinds

  Speaker 5: That, Okay, And you're you have an interesting story when

  Speaker 5: it comes to professional wrestling. That is correct, I do

  Speaker 5: what is your earliest memory of professional wrestling? I'm just

  Speaker 5: got going throw that one out there right now.

  Speaker 4: Well, my earliest memory is actually from like twenty eighteen.
• 4:04
  Speaker 4: So my dad, well, at the time, I was playing
• 4:08
  Speaker 4: ball at State and my dad texted me because he
• 4:12
  Speaker 4: grew up watching wrestling him my parents, and my uncle
• 4:16
  Speaker 4: actually watched WWE until like two thousand and three or
• 4:19
  Speaker 4: something like that. So AW was coming to Charleston for
• 4:24
  Speaker 4: the first time, first live wrestling show in like seventeen
• 4:28
  Speaker 4: years or something at that time, I think seven seventeen.
• 4:32
  Speaker 2: Yeah, something like that.
• 4:33
  Speaker 4: Yeah, and he wanted to go, but my mom didn't
• 4:36
  Speaker 4: want to go, my uncle didn't want to go or something.
• 4:39
  Speaker 4: He couldn't find anybody to go with, so he asked me,
• 4:42
  Speaker 4: and I was like, sure, if I get out of
• 4:43
  Speaker 4: practice some time, I'll go. I've never actually watched anything
• 4:46
  Speaker 4: wrestling wise. I didn't know anything about it, but I
• 4:49
  Speaker 4: was like, i'll go. It gives me something to do.
• 4:51
  Speaker 4: So we went and we had okay seats, it was
• 4:56
  Speaker 4: they were all right, and we were there. I think
• 4:59
  Speaker 4: we I got there maybe twenty minutes or something before
• 5:03
  Speaker 4: it went live because they filmed Dark before, so I
• 5:06
  Speaker 4: missed a couple of Dark matches. But we got there
• 5:09
  Speaker 4: and it started and I started watching it, and I
• 5:11
  Speaker 4: was like Wow, this is it's actually fun to watch.

  Speaker 4: It's actually really cool. He described it as like, uh,
• 5:20
  Speaker 4: like a soap operaffer grown men. I was like, I'm
• 5:24
  Speaker 4: in I watched it.

  Speaker 2: It really is, like I've told people, it's so My

  Speaker 2: girlfriend when we got together a couple of years ago,

  Speaker 2: she was like, not familiar with wrestling whatsoever. But when

  Speaker 2: I described him like, it's like it's like theater. That's
• 5:41
  Speaker 2: really what it is. And I've explained I like, the
• 5:43
  Speaker 2: ring is their stage. It's not like a typical stage
• 5:45
  Speaker 2: that you would have. I mean, you you know, it's
• 5:47
  Speaker 2: people are all around it. So once I've described that
• 5:49
  Speaker 2: to her, she's like, oh, so, then it's just started
• 5:52
  Speaker 2: clicking a little bit.
• 5:52
  Speaker 1: And now she's like not into wrestling, but she's like
• 5:56
  Speaker 1: I understand it way more than I did before. And
• 5:58
  Speaker 1: also she saw my color action and everything and everything
• 6:01
  Speaker 1: I posted online.

  Speaker 2: She's like, you do have.
• 6:03
  Speaker 1: A slight obsession with it, and.
• 6:04
  Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm sorry, I'm very sorry for that.

  Speaker 1: I mean, at least your first interaction with your individual

  Speaker 1: was a lot nicer than mine. My wife saw all
• 6:16
  Speaker 1: of my wrestling stuff and she got really scared and
• 6:18
  Speaker 1: thought about leaving. So yeah, but do you remember any
• 6:22
  Speaker 1: of like the your favorite matches from that night at.
• 6:25
  Speaker 4: Age of these it was the Halloween episode, Yes, that one.

  Speaker 2: That one's a bit of a fever dream.

  Speaker 4: That one was crazy. Yeah, I'm pretty sure. One thing

  Speaker 4: I really remember is Cody Rhods and Chris Jericho signed
• 6:39
  Speaker 4: like for the wrestle for the belt, and I right there,

  Speaker 4: I was like, I love Cody Roads.

  Speaker 1: I was really disappointed in that though, because I was
• 6:46
  Speaker 1: there with my brother in law who had never watched
• 6:50
  Speaker 1: pro wrestling, and so as all this stuff's going on,

  Speaker 1: I'm you know, I'm seeing the wrestling tropes. I'm seeing
• 6:55
  Speaker 1: all this stuff happen. I'm like, listen, there's going to
• 6:57
  Speaker 1: be a fight. Someone's going to end up through that table.

  Speaker 1: He's like, really, it was like easy one going to happen.

  Speaker 1: Didn't happen, And he judged me the rest of the night.

  Speaker 1: He was like, I thought you knew about this stuff.

  Speaker 1: I was saying it always happens, but it did not
• 7:12
  Speaker 1: that it did not did not. The Jericho did have
• 7:14
  Speaker 1: on his pumpkin coat. See.

  Speaker 2: I mean, like that whole episode is just a complete

  Speaker 2: fever dream. I've seen people online saying like, I barely

  Speaker 2: remember the Rick and Morty episode of aw Dynamite.

  Speaker 1: Yeah, and that was a tag team title, yeah, first

  Speaker 2: So so that right there was sort of the catalyst

  Speaker 2: of you wanting to be in professional wrestling. Correct, you

  Speaker 2: were trained by Shane Storm and Shane Douglas. How did

  Speaker 2: how did you end up with them and getting involved
• 7:48
  Speaker 2: with wrestling after that?
• 7:49
  Speaker 4: So my last two years of college softball, Moose who
• 7:55
  Speaker 4: runs a CW, he was like, he said, why don't
• 7:57
  Speaker 4: you come down here and train after you're done and
• 7:59
  Speaker 4: see if you like it. At that time, the trainer
• 8:01
  Speaker 4: was Chris Cannon, So I started under Chris Cannon and
• 8:05
  Speaker 4: I went and trained for a couple months, and during
• 8:11
  Speaker 4: that time I actually had torn my labor in my shoulder.
• 8:15
  Speaker 4: So I got that fix, took like eight months off,
• 8:18
  Speaker 4: and then came back and then I really started working
• 8:21
  Speaker 4: with Chris Cannon again, and then Shane Storm came and
• 8:24
  Speaker 4: took over from then, and then Shane Douglass has been
• 8:27
  Speaker 4: in and out, but yeah, it was that's really how
• 8:31
  Speaker 4: I got in. Just asked me to come try out,
• 8:33
  Speaker 4: and then I never stopped going.
• 8:35
  Speaker 1: So so what was the trial process?
• 8:37
  Speaker 4: Like trial process just see if you could roll? Pretty much,
• 8:41
  Speaker 4: it was legit, just the first day of training type
• 8:44
  Speaker 4: stuff like bumping and rolling basically see if you can,
• 8:47
  Speaker 4: like not if you're tough enough, but like if you
• 8:51
  Speaker 4: can handle the bumps and the rolls and all that stuff.
• 8:54
  Speaker 1: Yeah. So I'm gonna use a word with you, and
• 8:58
  Speaker 1: I want you to give me your honest reaction.

  Speaker 4: Okay, fake, it's not fake. It's I don't think it's fake.

  Speaker 4: You could say predetermined, scripted, scripted, but it's definitely not
• 9:11
  Speaker 4: fake because that's our bamb I took from Meghan Bain.

  Speaker 4: Was definitely not fair.

  Speaker 1: I tried to explain to people. It's like it's you

  Speaker 1: have this tiniest little bit of padding on the ring

  Speaker 1: and then it's plywood, and then some.

  Speaker 4: Some rings barely have even less than that padding.

  Speaker 1: Fake is not fair.

  Speaker 4: No, it's not fake.

  Speaker 2: No, okay. So, and a lot of people think that

  Speaker 2: when you hit the ropes, like it's you're just bouncing

  Speaker 2: off of them trampoline. Yeah, so, like, what what was

  Speaker 2: that like the first time you start hitting the ropes
• 9:47
  Speaker 2: in the.

  Speaker 4: Ring for the first like I would say, three weeks,

  Speaker 4: I had bruises on my back like you would hit
• 9:53
  Speaker 4: the because I hit the ropes pretty hard. I love
• 9:54
  Speaker 4: running ropes, so when I hit the ropes, I go
• 9:56
  Speaker 4: with a lot of force, and I literally had bruises

  Speaker 4: on my back like rope marks for a while. It's
• 10:03
  Speaker 4: until you get used to it, it doesn't feel great
• 10:06
  Speaker 4: at all.

  Speaker 2: So how long did it take you to get used
• 10:09
  Speaker 2: to it? Because I've heard people talk like it's almost
• 10:12
  Speaker 2: like with the bumps and hitting the ropes and everything,
• 10:14
  Speaker 2: it's almost like.

  Speaker 1: Your body builds like a giant callous.
• 10:17
  Speaker 2: Yeah, like it's a giant callous at that point, like
• 10:19
  Speaker 2: you're just kind of used to it. So how long
• 10:20
  Speaker 2: did it take to get used to it?
• 10:23
  Speaker 4: I think it took me a couple months, Like I
• 10:25
  Speaker 4: would say probably two months. It wasn't that long, but
• 10:29
  Speaker 4: it wasn't It definitely wasn't that short either, Like it
• 10:32
  Speaker 4: took me some time to really get used to bumping
• 10:35
  Speaker 4: and hitting the ropes, but it didn't take that long
• 10:38
  Speaker 4: at all.

  Speaker 1: So was there any any kind of like misconceptions you had,
• 10:42
  Speaker 1: Like you saw it and you were like, Okay, that's
• 10:44
  Speaker 1: what I want to do, and then the first time
• 10:46
  Speaker 1: you stepped in the ring. You were like, Okay, that
• 10:49
  Speaker 1: is not what I thought it was going to feel.
• 10:50
  Speaker 4: Like, well, you see all these people like jumping off
• 10:53
  Speaker 4: ropes and doing moon salts. I'm like, oh. And then
• 10:56
  Speaker 4: I went to training and they were like roll and
• 10:59
  Speaker 4: I getting off the ground and trying to do like
• 11:02
  Speaker 4: front bumps and like stuff like that. I realized I'm
• 11:06
  Speaker 4: not the not the one to get off the ground
• 11:09
  Speaker 4: very easy. So that took me a while to work on,
• 11:13
  Speaker 4: you know, just getting off the ground jumping. Because I
• 11:16
  Speaker 4: was softball. I was a pitcher and played for a
• 11:18
  Speaker 4: space so I didn't have to leave the ground. I didn't.
• 11:21
  Speaker 4: I never played anything except basketball growing up where you
• 11:23
  Speaker 4: had to jump, So getting off the ground was definitely
• 11:27
  Speaker 4: a misconception of how easy I thought it was going
• 11:30
  Speaker 4: to be. But I'm still struggling today.

  Speaker 1: I mean, my uncle was a high school softball coach,
• 11:36
  Speaker 1: so I spent a lot of time around softball, and
• 11:38
  Speaker 1: I don't remember anyone ever having to do a moon salt,
• 11:41
  Speaker 1: no insult.
• 11:42
  Speaker 4: I never had not.
• 11:43
  Speaker 1: I'm not positive though.
• 11:45
  Speaker 2: So was there anything with like your collegiate career with softball,
• 11:50
  Speaker 2: did anything help with that? With the transition over to wrestling.

  Speaker 4: Lifting. Definitely, the lifting and the work ethic part of it.
• 11:56
  Speaker 4: We'd be up at like I think we had five
• 11:59
  Speaker 4: am workouts for five years when I played, and uh,
• 12:03
  Speaker 4: just lifting heavy things. So when I got to wrestling,
• 12:05
  Speaker 4: they were like, you have to lift, you have to
• 12:07
  Speaker 4: stay in shape, and I'm like, well, this already did
• 12:09
  Speaker 4: this for the last five years, So that was pretty easy.
• 12:12
  Speaker 4: That was an easy transition going from lifting and still
• 12:14
  Speaker 4: having to be in shape. Imagine cardios helping them, yes, definitely, definitely,
• 12:21
  Speaker 4: but really they just just about us staying in shape
• 12:24
  Speaker 4: and like lifting, and I'm like, I already do this.
• 12:27
  Speaker 4: So that was a really easy transition for me going
• 12:29
  Speaker 4: from college softball to wrestling.

  Speaker 1: It's also really funny at times, like you if you
• 12:35
  Speaker 1: look back the late eighties and nineties and you see
• 12:37
  Speaker 1: people like Earthquake John Tinta, and you see just these
• 12:41
  Speaker 1: like really what looked like fat guys in wrestling balls
• 12:44
  Speaker 1: with legs, yes, but they're just running ropes and it
• 12:48
  Speaker 1: looks like they're not even winded it. I mean, people
• 12:51
  Speaker 1: who do it are athletes.
• 12:55
  Speaker 2: Like, there's no way I'm doing it.
• 12:56
  Speaker 1: Absolutely No, that's not fair. That's not fair. I mean

  Speaker 1: I'm not disagreeing.

  Speaker 4: With you, but if you trained, you can definitely if

  Speaker 4: you Yeah, he doesn't.

  Speaker 1: Love the work ethic.

  Speaker 2: I'll be completely honest. The first time I'm in there,

  Speaker 2: I'm sucking wind. I already know that that's gonna happen.

  Speaker 1: to drive you down to the ring.

  Speaker 2: I'm glad you think so highly of me.

  Speaker 2: So, so you got back into wrestling in twenty nineteen.

  Speaker 2: Between then and now and you're a professional wrestler, what

  Speaker 2: are some type of what are inspirations from wrestling that

  Speaker 2: help you in the ring? Like form your character?

  Speaker 4: See my character I'm so working on. I really like

  Speaker 4: Chris stat Lander how she's like big and tough, and honestly,
• 13:50
  Speaker 4: after watching Megan Bain for a little bit, I really
• 13:53
  Speaker 4: like her character just being big and strong, and I
• 13:55
  Speaker 4: think that's really what I want to go for.

  Speaker 1: Well, you got a very up close interaction.

  Speaker 2: I did, very very.

  Speaker 4: But yeah, my character is still something I'm working on.

  Speaker 4: But I want to go for like big and strong,

  Speaker 4: but like not like mean big and strong ish type

  Speaker 1: So, uh so you still want to do things fairly.

  Speaker 4: Yes, exactly, you don't want to take.

  Speaker 1: The low road correct, which at times could be the

  Speaker 1: fun road. That's my opinion. Do what you do to win,

  Speaker 1: but hey, it's not for everyone.

  Speaker 4: I think I think eventually being a bad guy would

  Speaker 4: be really, really fun, but I don't right now. I

  Speaker 4: don't know if I have the the character or the

  Speaker 4: personality to like switch on and off.

  Speaker 1: I'll tell you, for some people that comes super easy.

  Speaker 2: No, I mean it, I've heard now, granted I'm a fan,

  Speaker 2: plan on getting the ring. I've alway has heard that

  Speaker 2: being a heel, though, is a lot easier than being

  Speaker 2: a face. It's it's a lot easier to get people

  Speaker 2: to hate you than it is to get people to

  Speaker 2: like you. So but I do that in real life.

  Speaker 2: So so you you mentioned a w Chris stat Lander.

  Speaker 3: Then fun fact, Josh, Yeah, I was going to try

  Speaker 3: to say stuff, kept going sorry, well we're good at this. Yeah,

  Speaker 3: uh so you mentioned Chris Statler. Fun fact, you are

  Speaker 3: a second person we've interviewed who've worked with a W,

  Speaker 3: because we actually interviewed Chris Statlander last year. Really yeah,

  Speaker 3: and uh, speaking of a W, walk us through the
• 15:36
  Speaker 3: contract of a W contacting you for that match on collision.

  Speaker 4: So we there was a Jerry Lynn seminar I went
• 15:47
  Speaker 4: to and he works at AW. And after that, like
• 15:53
  Speaker 4: somebody asked the question like, how do you want like
• 15:56
  Speaker 4: be an extra or whatever enhancement talent, and he said,
• 15:58
  Speaker 4: send out emails. So so later that night I sent
• 16:01
  Speaker 4: out an email to AW and I sent one out
• 16:04
  Speaker 4: to WW and I heard back from both. But I
• 16:08
  Speaker 4: was at the beach. Actually it was like midnight and
• 16:10
  Speaker 4: I got the email about AW bean picked for the
• 16:14
  Speaker 4: Roanoke show. So I went in like not knowing what
• 16:17
  Speaker 4: I was doing, and they just said dress business casual
• 16:20
  Speaker 4: and show up and see what happened. So I went in,
• 16:25
  Speaker 4: got there that day and we got promo picks done.
• 16:30
  Speaker 4: Because if you're new it never worked for AW, you
• 16:31
  Speaker 4: have to get promo picks done. So I think there
• 16:35
  Speaker 4: was like three of us that hadn't worked there. So
• 16:36
  Speaker 4: we got our pick. Son went back changed into my
• 16:39
  Speaker 4: regular clothes and just hung out and then it was
• 16:44
  Speaker 4: like the show started at eight, and about like seven fifteen,
• 16:48
  Speaker 4: seven twenty, a guy came and got me and he said,
• 16:50
  Speaker 4: you have a match at eight o'clock pretty much against
• 16:52
  Speaker 4: Megan Bain. Go talk to her and figure it out.

  Speaker 4: So I had to change and get ready and then
• 16:56
  Speaker 4: go talk to her. But that whole process it was
• 16:59
  Speaker 4: just an email. Honestly, I went in not knowing what

  Speaker 4: I was doing. I thought I was just gonna be

  Speaker 4: like hanging out all day.

  Speaker 1: But shot, I'm sorry. They come in, they tell you, hey,
