In Hebrew the word for peace is "shalom" which can mean "wholeness, delight, universal flourishing". Most of us would agree that this world needs peace at every level.
The second week of Advent is traditionally known as the week of Peace. The "peace" candle is lit, and at the same time the lectionary scripture readings can come from various "prophets", ranging from Isaiah to John the Baptist...and though the scriptures are full of prophetic words about 'peace' and 'coming peace' and the 'Prince of Peace'…
