- 0:08Speaker 3: Good evening and welcome to the Rita Paney Show. Coming
- 0:11Speaker 3: up tonight a massive program. Joining me will be James Morrow,
- 0:15Speaker 3: Josh Hammer and Caroline Marcus, and later in the hour
- 0:19Speaker 3: Stephanie Bastian will have the latest on the John Passeuto
- 0:23Speaker 3: Deeming child. Of course, we never forget left He's losing
- 0:27Speaker 3: it tonight when Wolf stars She's the wife of Kamala
- 0:31Speaker 3: Harris's VP pick Tim Walls. Two days and we are
- 0:37Speaker 3: turned the Bay.
- 0:41Speaker 4: By bye, Donald Trump.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Let's start with the astonishing front page splash from Michael
- 0:47Speaker 3: Warner in today's Harold Son detailing the bomb show claims
- 0:52Speaker 3: from a review of the Daniel and Catherine Andrews car crash,
- 0:56Speaker 3: which has concluded that Victoria police engaged in an overt
- 1:01Speaker 3: cover up to avoid implicating a political figure in a
- 1:05Speaker 3: life threatening incident. This explosive thirty six page assessment by
- 1:11Speaker 3: former police assistant commissioner asserts that the Andrews family suv
- 1:15Speaker 3: was traveling at speed and on the wrong side of
- 1:19Speaker 3: the road when it struck teenage cyclist Ryan Muhlman in
- 1:23Speaker 3: blen Gowery Back in January seven, two thousand and thirteen.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Now we have heard differing accounts of what happened from
- 1:31Speaker 3: those who were there. Dan and Catherine Andrews insisted that
- 1:36Speaker 3: they came to a complete stop and turn right from
- 1:39Speaker 3: a stationery position just moments before being t boned by
- 1:45Speaker 3: the cyclist. T Boned is the expression that was used,
- 1:49Speaker 3: but the pictures of the car showed something entirely different.
- 1:53Speaker 3: And now the expert review conducted by the state's former
- 1:57Speaker 3: Assistant Commissioner for Traffic and Operationations, doctor Raymond Suey, it's
- 2:02Speaker 3: concluded the police investigation, which supported the Andrews version of
- 2:06Speaker 3: events was deeply flawed, unfounded, and contrary to the available evidence.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Dtor Sheuey writes the version as provided by Catherine and
- 2:18Speaker 3: Daniel Andrews is considered improbable and implausible. The propagation of
- 2:26Speaker 3: a lie and striking deception, the report claims, began when
- 2:31Speaker 3: the driver's name was recorded as Katherine Louise Kessick, which
- 2:36Speaker 3: is missus Andrews made a name in a traffic incident
- 2:40Speaker 3: system reports submitted by police in the hours after the crash.
- 2:44Speaker 3: And we'll have more on the police breaches a little
- 2:47Speaker 3: later now, Doctor Schuey's review was commissioned by mister Meulman's
- 2:52Speaker 3: lawyers as part of an ongoing Supreme Court damages proceedings
- 2:57Speaker 3: into the crash. I spoke to Ryan's father, Peter Meulman
- 3:01Speaker 3: back in June, and here was clear that the family
- 3:04Speaker 3: will not stop seeking justice for Ryan.
- 3:07Speaker 5: We're hoping to get justice for Ryan from this. It's
- 3:10Speaker 5: just been such a long road for us. So we'd
- 3:14Speaker 5: really like to get closure on the case. If you've
- 3:16Speaker 5: got nothing to hide, you'd be transparent about all of
- 3:20Speaker 5: those records. So just want that clarity and that closure
- 3:24Speaker 5: and that justice.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Joining me now, Sky you Senior reporter Caroline Marcus. Caroline,
- 3:30Speaker 3: this is an explosive story. Michael Warner has been doggedly
- 3:36Speaker 3: pursuing it while the bulk of the Victorian media looks
- 3:39Speaker 3: the other way. The revelations the claims here are deeply worrying.
- 3:47Speaker 3: What do you make of what you've read today?
- 3:50Speaker 6: Well, it has been extraordinary, Brito, because this review has
- 3:54Speaker 6: been unequivocally scathing of Victoria Police and it's handling of
- 4:00Speaker 6: this crash.
- 4:02Speaker 7: I mean, the review found that there were more than a.
- 4:05Speaker 6: Dozen breaches of standard police operating procedure, and that included
- 4:11Speaker 6: some of the basic things that you'd expect to happen
- 4:15Speaker 6: at a crime scene like this. Well, we didn't know
- 4:17Speaker 6: if it was a crime scene at what had happened,
- 4:19Speaker 6: but it's treated like a crime scene at the beginning
- 4:22Speaker 6: when police turn up to a traffic accident like this.
- 4:25Speaker 6: There was no breath test taken of either Daniel Andrews
- 4:29Speaker 6: or Catherine Andrews. The crime scene was never cordoned off,
- 4:34Speaker 6: They didn't door knock neighboring residents. They allowed mister Andrews
- 4:39Speaker 6: to drive off in the vehicle despite it being unroadworthy
- 4:46Speaker 6: and being a critical piece of evidence to the entire scene. Clearly,
- 4:52Speaker 6: and more than that, they proceeded to it seems lie
- 4:59Speaker 6: in their initial police report that they submitted, So we
- 5:03Speaker 6: just saw an example of how they used Catherine Andrews's
- 5:07Speaker 6: maiden name. They also claimed that they had performed a
- 5:11Speaker 6: breath test, only to later admit that they hadn't done
- 5:15Speaker 6: that because police said that missus Andrews didn't seem to
- 5:21Speaker 6: stink of alcohol, so they didn't feel that they needed to.
- 5:24Speaker 6: I mean, it was quite remarkable, and not only of course,
- 5:29Speaker 6: did Victoria police.
- 5:30Speaker 7: Come off very badly out of this review.
- 5:34Speaker 6: I mean it accuses them of a huge cover up
- 5:38Speaker 6: because then opposition leader was involved. But Daniel Andrews and
- 5:43Speaker 6: his wife don't come off well either, of course, because
- 5:47Speaker 6: their version of events is found to have been improbable
- 5:52Speaker 6: and implausible, and in fact, doctor Shuey leaves it open
- 5:57Speaker 6: as to whether mister andrew was actually driving the vehicle himself,
- 6:02Speaker 6: which of course he has always denied. But police never
- 6:06Speaker 6: even asked Missus Andrews why she would have been driving
- 6:10Speaker 6: his car at the time, They didn't check the.
- 6:13Speaker 7: Position of the driver's.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Seat, and a witness who spoke to them at the
- 6:20Speaker 6: scene told them she saw Missus Andrews sitting in the
- 6:23Speaker 6: passenger scene after the crash.
- 6:25Speaker 7: So there are still lots of questions.
- 6:28Speaker 6: That remain after this review has been handed down, but
- 6:31Speaker 6: I think it is time for the former premier to
- 6:35Speaker 6: answer questions to this family, who, to their credit, have
- 6:38Speaker 6: not been dissuaded by the fact that they're up against
- 6:42Speaker 6: a very powerful political family, but have continued to fight
- 6:46Speaker 6: for justice.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Yes, and the review you highlighted some of the police
- 6:54Speaker 3: breaches there the failure to conduct breath test and as
- 6:58Speaker 3: you said, claiming that they had done it when they hadn't,
- 7:02Speaker 3: and it also found that they did not follow procedure
- 7:07Speaker 3: in so many different respects. For example, they didn't call
- 7:10Speaker 3: in the highway patrol officers or the major collision unit,
- 7:13Speaker 3: which is required by policy. That's what you would expect
- 7:17Speaker 3: them to do, and the police conduct that They were
- 7:21Speaker 3: also concerns about an officer from the Rye Police station
- 7:26Speaker 3: jumping the call, taking charge of the car crash scene
- 7:30Speaker 3: two minutes after it had been allocated to another unit
- 7:34Speaker 3: that was closer to the accident site. The review details
- 7:38Speaker 3: how this senior constable stated that she was closer to
- 7:42Speaker 3: the Blagari Street where the teenager cyclist was struck, but
- 7:47Speaker 3: she was actually at Rye Police Station doing urgent correspondents
- 7:52Speaker 3: and then took six and a half minutes to leave
- 7:55Speaker 3: to go to the site. Doctor Raymond Suey found this
- 7:59Speaker 3: raises critical questions as to why the senior constable whose
- 8:02Speaker 3: name is redacted, wanted to take over the call and
- 8:07Speaker 3: cancel a unit already on route. What external communications via
- 8:11Speaker 3: telephone or radio with the senior constable occurred in the
- 8:15Speaker 3: time from the crash to being on route. Caroline, I'm
- 8:19Speaker 3: not suggesting there was any wrongdoing by the Andrews here.
- 8:24Speaker 3: But for the sake of transparency, should there be immunity
- 8:28Speaker 3: offered to any police officers involved in a deliberate cover
- 8:32Speaker 3: up if one indeed did take place.
- 8:37Speaker 7: Well, look, in my opinion, no, I mean this.
- 8:40Speaker 6: They appear, on the findings of this review to have
- 8:44Speaker 6: failed in their very basic duty of care to members
- 8:49Speaker 6: of the public and their duties to investigate a crime
- 8:53Speaker 6: properly and fully.
- 8:54Speaker 7: You know, the crime scene.
- 8:56Speaker 6: Was not caughting off as I mentioned before, and was
- 9:00Speaker 6: closed by about six pm the same day.
- 9:04Speaker 7: Of the crash.
- 9:05Speaker 6: And that's despite all these questions hanging over it.
- 9:09Speaker 7: I mean, in what case does that tend to happen?
- 9:13Speaker 6: And these people need to be properly questioned over how
- 9:19Speaker 6: this happened.
- 9:20Speaker 7: And it isn't just the.
- 9:21Speaker 6: Police officers who were at the scene, it is the
- 9:24Speaker 6: people who were overseeing their work as well, who did
- 9:28Speaker 6: come unto criticism in this review too, because there were
- 9:31Speaker 6: other facets. To this reader, the family was never provided
- 9:36Speaker 6: a report with who were the other who the other
- 9:40Speaker 6: driver was in order to protect the Andrews family, and
- 9:45Speaker 6: that is a very basic duty that police have.
- 9:48Speaker 7: How did that not happen.
- 9:50Speaker 6: How did the superiors of those officers overlooking it take place?
- 9:57Speaker 3: There have been so many breaches. We've detailed some of them.
- 10:00Speaker 3: We could spend hours on things that were done that
- 10:04Speaker 3: shouldn't have been done. It is bewildering and it's worrying.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Before you go, something a little bit lighter. Gender row
- 10:13Speaker 3: has erupted at Thirteenth Beach Golf Links on Victoria's Bellerine
- 10:18Speaker 3: Pinicsula after a man decided to dress as a woman
- 10:21Speaker 3: to protest the club's discounted rates for female members. Maybe
- 10:26Speaker 3: just wanted to get a discount. Hearing is or should
- 10:29Speaker 3: that be here?
- 10:30Speaker 8: She is here?
- 10:32Speaker 5: Is it?
- 10:32Speaker 2: Yes?
- 10:33Speaker 3: I'm identifying as a female now and I'm just about
- 10:36Speaker 3: to inquire about the new membership, do you. Unfortunately, the
- 10:41Speaker 3: stunt has backfired. He's been suspended and so as the
- 10:47Speaker 3: dude videoing the whole thing. I think it's a little
- 10:49Speaker 3: bit harsh. I think they're just making a point there
- 10:52Speaker 3: and doing it in an amusing manner.
- 10:54Speaker 6: Carrow, and don't we live in a time reader where
- 10:57Speaker 6: if you identify as a woman, you are a woman.
- 11:00Speaker 6: I thought that's the whole point. Clearly they've misgendered him
- 11:06Speaker 6: by refusing to accept that in a weakness skirt. He's
- 11:09Speaker 6: now a woman now, But obviously this was a prank
- 11:11Speaker 6: that he wanted to show up the discrimination I guess
- 11:15Speaker 6: that exists in this club because women are being charged
- 11:20Speaker 6: a discounted fee for memberships compared to men, and the
- 11:23Speaker 6: club saying it's doing it to address historical misrepresentation and
- 11:28Speaker 6: that they have to take a stand. Golf Australia says,
- 11:31Speaker 6: because what this frank did was to have a laugh
- 11:38Speaker 6: at basically the inclusion.
- 11:40Speaker 7: I don't know how it does that. It's in fact.
- 11:43Speaker 6: It's having a go at exclusion because men are excluded
- 11:47Speaker 6: from this discountant right. Look, if I was a female golfer,
- 11:49Speaker 6: I probably wouldn't complain. But therein lies all the hypocrisy
- 11:53Speaker 6: of this.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Caroline Marcus, thanks for your time this evening pleasure. Joining
- 12:00Speaker 3: me now is host of the US Report and co
- 12:03Speaker 3: host of Out Signers, James Morrow. James start with the
- 12:07Speaker 3: Australian Government's Misinformation and Information Bill. It's under attack from
- 12:13Speaker 3: all sorts of corners, Coalition MPs obviously, but Elon mask
- 12:17Speaker 3: and others who value the concept of free speech. This
- 12:21Speaker 3: bill would grant extraordinary powers to the bureaucrats at the
- 12:25Speaker 3: Australian Communication and Media Authority. They could impose massive fines
- 12:31Speaker 3: up to five percent of global revenue on social media
- 12:35Speaker 3: platforms if they fail to adequately crack down on what
- 12:39Speaker 3: these bureaucrats deem to be misinformation and disinformation. Is this
- 12:44Speaker 3: bill going to pass the Senate and what could it
- 12:47Speaker 3: mean for Australia if it passes in its present form?
- 12:51Speaker 2: Well, I really worry that it is going to pass
- 12:54Speaker 2: the Senate reader. I mean, the coalition has said that
- 12:58Speaker 2: they will always stand for free speech each but to
- 13:01Speaker 2: the extent that they've done so, you know, they've said, well,
- 13:03Speaker 2: the bill has problems, but it has issues, but they
- 13:06Speaker 2: haven't said the whole idea of this is a complete
- 13:09Speaker 2: mess and it needs to be thrown out the door.
- 13:12Speaker 2: And I think that's where we are right now. You know,
- 13:14Speaker 2: they're going to have a fight over this. They're going
- 13:15Speaker 2: to make some rhetorical comments towards free speech, but I
- 13:18Speaker 2: think the thing ultimately goes through because you know, it's
- 13:21Speaker 2: considered not cost of living and some of these other things.
- 13:23Speaker 2: But tell you it's deeply important here and one of
- 13:25Speaker 2: the important things here is that the government makes a
- 13:30Speaker 2: big deal of saying, oh, well, you know, it doesn't
- 13:32Speaker 2: target individual users, and what that means is actually what
- 13:36Speaker 2: they're doing is they're outsourcing censorship to the social media platforms.
- 13:40Speaker 2: And we know they're already really really bad at that.
- 13:44Speaker 2: So if you want to see information throttled online, just
- 13:48Speaker 2: past this bill. It's already happening. But the other thing too,
- 13:52Speaker 2: is it creates two tiers of free speech in this country.
- 13:55Speaker 2: So if you're a journalist like oser, you're an academic,
- 13:58Speaker 2: or you know, you're in the government, you have free speech,
- 14:01Speaker 2: you're freer speech, you have more exceptions to this rule
- 14:04Speaker 2: than if you're everybody else. But we know that sources
- 14:07Speaker 2: like x wind up being actually very good with their
- 14:10Speaker 2: citizen journalists who aren't formal journalists, not worrying for NewsCorp
- 14:14Speaker 2: for the ABC able to find out lots of things
- 14:17Speaker 2: that are important. We get thrown on as misinformation reader.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Yes, and we saw that particularly during the COVID era,
- 14:25Speaker 3: but at other points as well. And you've got these
- 14:29Speaker 3: leftist outlets media, Academia, Conversation, Publication, which our taxes support.
- 14:38Speaker 7: They argue that.
- 14:39Speaker 3: This legislation doesn't go far enough, James. They want Sky
- 14:42Speaker 3: and used to also be sensored or suppressed because apparently
- 14:48Speaker 3: we question the merit of mad climate change policies. And
- 14:51Speaker 3: that's dangerous if if you question some of the measures
- 14:55Speaker 3: we're taking that are sending our bills through the roof
- 14:58Speaker 3: and making pension as not being able to afford to
- 15:02Speaker 3: hate their homes, that is dangerous disinformation and it really
- 15:07Speaker 3: is rather sad James. You've got people within the media,
- 15:11Speaker 3: certainly within academia, who are cheering for more censorship.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know it's weird because you know, part
- 15:18Speaker 2: of that is ideological, and part of that is just
- 15:20Speaker 2: that whole sort of funny shift that the left has
- 15:23Speaker 2: made in your lifetime, in my lifetime, you know, where
- 15:25Speaker 2: they went for being really anti censorship and you know,
- 15:28Speaker 2: pro free speech and quite honorably so, to being total
- 15:31Speaker 2: you know, you can't say that and speech needs to
- 15:34Speaker 2: be monitored and policed and enforced and all of that.
- 15:37Speaker 2: I mean, that's part of it. And then also I
- 15:39Speaker 2: think you know, part of it for people like the
- 15:41Speaker 2: academics of the Conversation is it's about power, you know,
- 15:44Speaker 2: because their Marxists everything is about these sort of power
- 15:48Speaker 2: sorts of plays, and so for them it becomes like, well,
- 15:51Speaker 2: we need to make the proletariat, ordinary people less powerful
- 15:55Speaker 2: because the thing is things like X. It's been a
- 15:57Speaker 2: bit like the printing press was, you know, with Gutenberg,
- 15:59Speaker 2: and everyone's terrified of that, you know, And so hundreds
- 16:02Speaker 2: of years ago there were massive free speech fights and
- 16:05Speaker 2: places like England over you know, censorship and all of
- 16:09Speaker 2: this press licenses. There was the exact same arguments that
- 16:12Speaker 2: we're having today. You know, should anybody be allowed to say, published, print,
- 16:16Speaker 2: read whatever they want because there's a new technology that's
- 16:19Speaker 2: disrupting things, that's taking power away from the kings.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Absolutely. Now let's talk about the Business Council of Australia.
- 16:28Speaker 3: They've slammed Labour's industrial relation laws, regulations, taxes, saying it's
- 16:34Speaker 3: strangling Australia's business community. The Business Council's Chief executive, Brand Black,
- 16:39Speaker 3: who represents some of the country's biggest businesses. We're talking
- 16:43Speaker 3: here about the big full Banks, West Farmers, Hancock, Prospecting,
- 16:47Speaker 3: BEHV quantas the list goes on. He said, many chief
- 16:52Speaker 3: executives feel we are losing our way. Jams, I've got
- 16:56Speaker 3: to say I'm glad these big businesses are finally focused
- 16:59Speaker 3: on on the bottom line instead of politics and social engineering.
- 17:06Speaker 3: How do you think the Albanese government is going to
- 17:08Speaker 3: receive mister Black's advice?
- 17:11Speaker 2: Well, I suspect the Prime Minister is quietly spewing about this.
- 17:15Speaker 2: I mean, you know, we all know that he has
- 17:17Speaker 2: a thin skin and does not take well to criticism.
- 17:20Speaker 2: So seeing brand Black's the reports of what he's going
- 17:23Speaker 2: to say tonight at the BCA dinner is one thing.
- 17:25Speaker 2: But you know, also, like you mentioned, a whole bunch
- 17:28Speaker 2: of companies there, and many of those companies, not all
- 17:32Speaker 2: I think we could exclude Hancock Prospecting from this, but
- 17:34Speaker 2: many others, you know, virtually clapped in labor right, and
- 17:39Speaker 2: you know, we're very happy to see THEMB come in
- 17:42Speaker 2: and we were all like, you know, guys, this is
- 17:44Speaker 2: a good idea, and you know, they all got on
- 17:46Speaker 2: board with the voice. So many as X one hundred companies,
- 17:48Speaker 2: Quantus did up its planes, blah blah blah, all of this,
- 17:52Speaker 2: you know, and it's like, guys, you know, these people
- 17:56Speaker 2: aren't your friends. They tell you who they are. They're
- 17:59Speaker 2: very open about it, and so it's just a basic
- 18:02Speaker 2: that's taken two years an ir bill, reregulation of the economy,
- 18:07Speaker 2: and at a serious downturn in the economy for them
- 18:11Speaker 2: to say, you know, many, really we weren't on the
- 18:14Speaker 2: right track. Here was this one.
- 18:18Speaker 7: This is it.
- 18:19Speaker 3: There's been this switch. Wasn't that long ago that you
- 18:22Speaker 3: considered big businesses would be siding with the Conservatives if
- 18:27Speaker 3: they were going to have any sort of political stance.
- 18:29Speaker 3: But that has not been the experience, and the last
- 18:31Speaker 3: few elections, and certainly the last one, they seem to
- 18:35Speaker 3: be lockstep with labor and you know, sillier decisions, sillier outcomes.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Maybe they'll learn their lesson. We'll see. Now let's turn
- 18:44Speaker 3: to the US. The focus has been placed on the
- 18:48Speaker 3: issue of unchecked immigration. We're talking legal and illegal here,
- 18:53Speaker 3: and also the issue of assimilation and values. It was
- 18:56Speaker 3: all sparked by Donald Trump's now infamous about cats and
- 19:01Speaker 3: dogs being eaten in Springfield, Ohio. Tell me about the
- 19:05Speaker 3: fallout of those comments and the debate it's generated. It's
- 19:11Speaker 3: gone in a very different direction than I think many
- 19:14Speaker 3: media commentators expected.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Well, I mean, that's the thing, because this is the
- 19:19Speaker 2: thing about the cats and dogs thing. You know, they're
- 19:22Speaker 2: eating the cats, they're eating the dogs, they're eating the
- 19:24Speaker 2: pets of the people who live there. We've all heard
- 19:26Speaker 2: this line so many times from Donald Trump at the debate,
- 19:30Speaker 2: and of course the media lost them by oh, you know,
- 19:32Speaker 2: that's fake news. But it's the important thing about this is, though,
- 19:37Speaker 2: is that Donald Trump has been trying to talk to
- 19:41Speaker 2: all Americans about the real crisis at the southern border.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Ten million people plus coming in illegally through that southern
- 19:47Speaker 2: border since the Biden administration has been in power. You know,
- 19:52Speaker 2: them being dumped all over the country and towns that
- 19:55Speaker 2: cannot handle that sort of influx, and you know a
- 19:58Speaker 2: lot of crime and other problems going along with it.
- 20:00Speaker 2: And yet you know, that's really been an issue for
- 20:03Speaker 2: core believers. But this issue about the cats and dogs,
- 20:06Speaker 2: you know, because it's almost so goofy, right, like it
- 20:09Speaker 2: gives people space to talk about it. Look at the
- 20:12Speaker 2: numbers to go, hay, why is a town of sixty
- 20:14Speaker 2: thousand like Springfield, Ohio getting twenty thousand Haitians as many
- 20:18Speaker 2: as twenty thousand hations. That doesn't seem right to me.
- 20:20Speaker 2: And so like before it was all you know, sort
- 20:23Speaker 2: of stuff like well, you know, we're talking about the
- 20:25Speaker 2: latest person who was murdered in some horrible, violent way,
- 20:28Speaker 2: and people don't want to hear about it. They don't
- 20:30Speaker 2: want to talk about it. They know intellectually that it's happening,
- 20:32Speaker 2: but like, they don't want talk about it. But this
- 20:34Speaker 2: is sort of so goofy and weird and memeable that
- 20:38Speaker 2: suddenly it creates a whole new frame in which to
- 20:40Speaker 2: discuss migration. And I think, you know, on that level,
- 20:43Speaker 2: I think it's been a huge win for Trump.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Now, a lot has been said about these bomb threats
- 20:51Speaker 3: that happened in Springfield, Ohio, and the Republicans, particularly Trump
- 20:55Speaker 3: and Vance, are being blind. But the governor of Ohio
- 20:59Speaker 3: has real ill today that these bomb threats have all
- 21:02Speaker 3: been hoaxes, all of them, and many of these threats
- 21:06Speaker 3: are coming from overseas, not the narrative that media has
- 21:11Speaker 3: been pushing.
- 21:12Speaker 5: James.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Yeah, no, And of course, you know again it's more
- 21:16Speaker 2: and more fake news because the bomb threat story allowed
- 21:19Speaker 2: the media to do two things. Number one, portray Trump
- 21:23Speaker 2: is dangerous, you know, his dangerous rhetoric is causing danger
- 21:26Speaker 2: and danger and danger. And then on the other hand,
- 21:28Speaker 2: it was also allowing them to say, well, the locals
- 21:30Speaker 2: in Springfield are actually just a bunch of racist roobs
- 21:33Speaker 2: who deserve everything they have coming to them, you know.
- 21:36Speaker 2: And of course now Mike DeWine, the governor of Ohio,
- 21:38Speaker 2: has said, you know, no, well, actually they're all they're
- 21:40Speaker 2: all overseas hoaxes, and you know, it just all seems
- 21:44Speaker 2: so kind of JUSTI smollett to me now at this
- 21:47Speaker 2: point where they're just trying to, you know, come up
- 21:49Speaker 2: with you know, as we always say, read on outsiders,
- 21:51Speaker 2: you do the market for hate crimes. They're so rare
- 21:55Speaker 2: that people are making them up.
- 21:59Speaker 3: There is the America is so inherently racist? Why there's
- 22:03Speaker 3: so many race crime hoaxes? Enough genuine ones to satisfy everybody.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Now I want to ask you about racism a little
- 22:14Speaker 3: bit more because political commentator Matt Walsh has released another documentary.
- 22:19Speaker 3: This one is called Am I Racist? The last one
- 22:22Speaker 3: was all about the trans issue, and it was hilarious.
- 22:25Speaker 3: It did it remarkably well.
- 22:27Speaker 7: This one seems.
- 22:28Speaker 3: To be doing even better business at the box office.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Audiences love it too. It's got a ninety nine percent
- 22:35Speaker 3: audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is astonishing. Let's have
- 22:40Speaker 3: a quick look at a clip of it.
- 22:42Speaker 7: The entire system has to burn. And I'm not going
- 22:45Speaker 7: to even use save this country. This country is not
- 22:46Speaker 7: worth siving. This country is a piece of.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Oh so.
- 22:53Speaker 4: So wait folks, waite.
- 22:56Speaker 7: Supremacy, wait woman, wait boy?
- 22:58Speaker 2: Wait?
- 22:58Speaker 7: Entitlements centering?
- 22:59Speaker 3: Wit?
- 23:00Speaker 9: Is there a black person around here?
- 23:02Speaker 7: Black person right here?
- 23:03Speaker 1: Does he not exist?
- 23:04Speaker 7: But James?
- 23:05Speaker 3: Critics are refusing to review this film, despite the fact
- 23:09Speaker 3: it's in the top five films in the country and
- 23:12Speaker 3: it's got this massive audience score. Matt Walsh invited critics
- 23:17Speaker 3: from Variety Magazine, The New Yorker, the New York Times,
- 23:20Speaker 3: Indie Wire. They were all invited to a preview to
- 23:25Speaker 3: see this and say what they like. They can give
- 23:27Speaker 3: it a zero score, but none of them want to
- 23:29Speaker 3: even acknowledge it exists.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Well, I think they're probably afraid that they're going to
- 23:34Speaker 2: like it, you know, I mean, wouldn't that be horrible
- 23:37Speaker 2: and uncomfortable with if there was it? Oh wow, that
- 23:39Speaker 2: was a pretty good film. I really got to tell
- 23:41Speaker 2: everybody nowhere to can't tell her anybody that about Walsh.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Film was good. Oh you know, we see what's going
- 23:46Speaker 2: on here, And the problem is these people like from Variety,
- 23:50Speaker 2: you know, need are from old school corporate media outlets
- 23:53Speaker 2: in the US, you know, and a lot of them
- 23:55Speaker 2: have found their relevance declining. And what they're doing now
- 23:58Speaker 2: is they're just you know, they're fighting a rearguard action
- 24:00Speaker 2: against change, and it's not going to work for them because,
- 24:03Speaker 2: you know, the more they try and ignore where things
- 24:06Speaker 2: are and what the sort of the leading edge of
- 24:08Speaker 2: film is, including if it's a documentary by about watsh
- 24:11Speaker 2: it's incredibly popular and good, they're just going to serve
- 24:15Speaker 2: to further, you know, make themselves irrelevant and just be
- 24:18Speaker 2: you know, old critics yelling at clouds.
- 24:22Speaker 3: You're so right, and there is such a demand and
- 24:25Speaker 3: the success of this film shows and others we've seen
- 24:28Speaker 3: in the last couple of years that conservatives want content
- 24:33Speaker 3: that isn't insulting to them and their values, and it
- 24:36Speaker 3: doesn't have to be a documentary, can be fictional, but
- 24:40Speaker 3: so much of what Hollywood is churning out has got
- 24:43Speaker 3: this political edge to it that is insulting to about
- 24:47Speaker 3: half the country, and that half of the country spends
- 24:50Speaker 3: money at the cinemas just like the like the lefties do.
- 24:53Speaker 3: James Morrow, thank you so much for your time this evening.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Thanks reader still to come and Lefties Losing It and
- 24:59Speaker 3: Josh with a new report detailing the deep failings of
- 25:04Speaker 3: the Secret Service. You're watching the Reader Panny Show, and
- 25:16Speaker 3: now it's time for Lefty's losing head. Let's check in
- 25:20Speaker 3: with Gwen Walls, the wife of Kamala Harris's VP pick,
- 25:24Speaker 3: Tim Walls. She seems nice and not at all deranged.
- 25:28Speaker 7: You just showed me this.
- 25:30Speaker 5: Turn the page, right, turn the page, and you know
- 25:33Speaker 5: what else? That looks like? Bye bye, bye.
- 25:39Speaker 7: Bye Donald Trump.
- 25:43Speaker 4: We are turning the bage.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Two days and we are.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Turning the bay Didny day, Bye bye Donald Trump.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Okay, I would have thought so. Turning the page would
- 26:01Speaker 3: involve getting rid of the current lot in power. And
- 26:04Speaker 3: that's the Democrats last I checked. But anyway, talking about Democrats,
- 26:09Speaker 3: she's back. Hillary is back with a wackadoodle MSNBC host
- 26:15Speaker 3: Rachel Maddow and Hillary reckons that the media is too
- 26:20Speaker 3: soft on Donald Trump. And note this interview is after
- 26:24Speaker 3: the second assassination attempt on Trump's life, inspired by the
- 26:29Speaker 3: Dems labeling him a threat to democracy? So why don't
- 26:32Speaker 3: we do that some more?
- 26:33Speaker 9: And I don't understand why it's so difficult for the
- 26:36Speaker 9: press to have a consistent narrative about how dangerous Trump is.
- 26:42Speaker 9: You know, the late great journalist Terry Evans, you know,
- 26:47Speaker 9: one time said that, you know, journalists should, you know,
- 26:52Speaker 9: really try to achieve objectivity, And by that he said,
- 26:55Speaker 9: I mean they should cover the object. Well, the object
- 26:59Speaker 9: in this case is Donald Trump, his demagogery, his danger
- 27:05Speaker 9: to our country and the world, and stick with.
- 27:08Speaker 3: It, stick with it until when they successfully have him assassinated.
- 27:14Speaker 3: And of course Madou did not call out Hillary's ugly,
- 27:18Speaker 3: inflammatory ritrid She just encouraged it.
- 27:21Speaker 1: He's still being taught, especially by the media, that the
- 27:24Speaker 1: more offensive he is, the more he can dominate the
- 27:27Speaker 1: media space entirely. And I feel like you've you've been
- 27:31Speaker 1: a good diagnoser of that.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Now to a lefty who claims the assassination attempts against
- 27:37Speaker 3: Donald Trump are no big.
- 27:39Speaker 4: Deal, correct me if I'm wrong.
- 27:40Speaker 1: But isn't hearing pewpew fire in the red state of
- 27:43Speaker 1: Florida as common as hearing bird saying I'm sure it
- 27:46Speaker 1: wasn't personal. Please don't flatter yourself.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Charming?
- 27:49Speaker 7: Charming?
- 27:50Speaker 3: And here we have a man who claims he was
- 27:53Speaker 3: misgendered at the pharmacy, apparently calling him sir. Damagees masculinity.
- 27:59Speaker 3: See if you can understand what this is about.
- 28:03Speaker 8: So I got surved today at the pharmacy. And I'm
- 28:07Speaker 8: not saying men can't look like this, because please go
- 28:09Speaker 8: off kings, But like, I'm not doing damage to masculinity.
- 28:15Speaker 8: I think y'all are when you serve me, when you
- 28:17Speaker 8: call me a man, right like I'm not a man.
- 28:20Speaker 8: Don't consider me for the pool of men.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Done, dude, whatever you want. And here is Kamala Harris's stepdaughter,
- 28:28Speaker 3: who is a far left activist and a model. She
- 28:31Speaker 3: is a professional model. She posted this to Instagram last week.
- 28:35Speaker 3: It's a collaboration with fashion brand Tory Bircher. They produce
- 28:40Speaker 3: hideously ugly shoes, among other things.
- 28:43Speaker 7: Oh my god, are you lm huh yeah? What song
- 28:46Speaker 7: are you listening to right now?
- 28:47Speaker 8: Well?
- 28:47Speaker 7: I'm wearing a Tory Birch top, a Tory Birch skirt.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Tory Birch shield, loafers, and obviously the Tory Birch care bag.
- 28:53Speaker 7: Thanks have a good one.
- 28:54Speaker 3: What learning more about the second Trump assassination attempt and
- 29:03Speaker 3: the accused gunman, Ryan Wesley Routh and what inspired the
- 29:07Speaker 3: fifty eight year old to target Trump. The suspect has
- 29:10Speaker 3: a history of posting anti Trump rhetoric, much of admirroring
- 29:14Speaker 3: Democrat talking points. The New York Post reports Rawth has
- 29:18Speaker 3: repeatedly railed against Trump on social media and posted about
- 29:22Speaker 3: his alleged threats to democracy and yes, that echoes precisely
- 29:26Speaker 3: what we hear from Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris
- 29:30Speaker 3: and President Joe Biden. The suspect wrote, democracy is on
- 29:35Speaker 3: the ballot and we cannot lose sound familiar word for
- 29:39Speaker 3: word what we hear from Democrat leadership. He also posted,
- 29:43Speaker 3: we cannot afford to fail. The world is counting on
- 29:48Speaker 3: us to show the way. And after the July assassination
- 29:52Speaker 3: attempt at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania, he posted this
- 29:55Speaker 3: to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. He wrote, you should
- 29:59Speaker 3: visit the victims in the hospital of the Trump rally
- 30:03Speaker 3: victims and attend the funeral of the firemen that died.
- 30:06Speaker 3: Trump certainly never would show the world what real leaders do.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Let's cross now to Florida to speak to Newsweek's Senior
- 30:16Speaker 3: editor at Large and Senior Council for the article three
- 30:19Speaker 3: project Josh Hammer, Josh, what more can you tell us
- 30:24Speaker 3: about the suspect and how you managed to come so
- 30:28Speaker 3: close to President Trump with an AK forty seven style rifle?
- 30:34Speaker 4: Read Unfortunately, I do not have any good answers to
- 30:38Speaker 4: the second question. I mean, I mean what I can say,
- 30:42Speaker 4: which I can conclude pretty close to us Palm Beach.
- 30:45Speaker 4: I live about an hour from there, and I'm sure
- 30:48Speaker 4: that you can conclude as well. Living halfway around the world.
- 30:51Speaker 4: The Secret Service clearly has not learned any of the
- 30:53Speaker 4: relevant lessons whatsoever from the near mess the near assassination
- 30:57Speaker 4: of Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania in July thirteen. Now,
- 31:01Speaker 4: I saw some people saying that Donald Trump playing a
- 31:03Speaker 4: round of golf at Trump International West Palm Beach was
- 31:06Speaker 4: an off the record, off the books trip. I'm sorry
- 31:09Speaker 4: that is ludicrous. It doesn't matter whether it was on
- 31:13Speaker 4: the record or off the record. Donald Trump spends the
- 31:15Speaker 4: vast majority of his time in Palm Beach, Florida, and
- 31:18Speaker 4: when he's not in mar A Lago, he's probably and
- 31:20Speaker 4: usually golfing at that very golf club. It's ten minutes
- 31:23Speaker 4: from mar Lago. It's his home club. It is in
- 31:26Speaker 4: x freaking excusable for this to have possibly happened there.
- 31:31Speaker 4: As far as the nature of the suspect himself, I
- 31:33Speaker 4: think the social media track record unfortunately speaks for itself.
- 31:37Speaker 4: You know, this was actually a pretty known guy. The
- 31:39Speaker 4: New York Times and Semaphore, two very well known outlets
- 31:43Speaker 4: in the US, both interviewed him. In fact, last year
- 31:46Speaker 4: he was on fed's radar because he was traveling to
- 31:49Speaker 4: Ukraine trying to recruit Afghan's fleeing the Taliban, trying to
- 31:53Speaker 4: launder them through Iran to get to Ukraine to fight
- 31:55Speaker 4: the Russians. He was extraordinarily zealous and usually so, you
- 31:59Speaker 4: might say, for the Cranian cause. But he was on
- 32:01Speaker 4: the radar of law enforcement because he has two prior
- 32:04Speaker 4: federal convictions as well, including for one gun charge back
- 32:07Speaker 4: in two thousand and two in North Carolina when he
- 32:09Speaker 4: was illegally owning a fully automatic weapon in violation of
- 32:12Speaker 4: a prohibition era statute from the nineteen thirties. To say
- 32:16Speaker 4: this is an excuseable reader, I think would be an understatement.
- 32:18Speaker 4: It's disgusting.
- 32:19Speaker 7: I'm a Paul.
- 32:20Speaker 4: Thank god Donald Trump is.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Safe and almost miraculous again. He's been very lucky twice
- 32:28Speaker 3: this time around, just because a Secret Service agent spotted
- 32:33Speaker 3: the rifle. And you would think that would be a
- 32:35Speaker 3: very eagle eyed individual, indeed in a golf course, to
- 32:40Speaker 3: spot that rifle and to take immediate action. Josh, last
- 32:45Speaker 3: night I detailed some of the frankly reprehensible media coverage
- 32:50Speaker 3: seeking to essentially blame Trump for the attempts on his
- 32:53Speaker 3: life that has continued. Have a look at this from
- 32:57Speaker 3: the Atlantic, saying no other president has use an assassination
- 33:01Speaker 3: attempt to inflame American politics the way Donald Trump does.
- 33:05Speaker 3: Tom Nichols really does find new ways to humiliate himself.
- 33:09Speaker 3: And here is Politico's headline focusing on Republicans being outraged
- 33:15Speaker 3: by an assassination attempt and blaming them for partisan finger pointing, well,
- 33:22Speaker 3: there's only one site having its candidate targeted by political
- 33:26Speaker 3: operatives in the justice system, not to mention the two
- 33:30Speaker 3: assassination attempts in as many months.
- 33:32Speaker 4: The rhetoric from the last in this country is absolutely disgusting.
- 33:35Speaker 4: You know Tom Nichols right there, who we were just
- 33:37Speaker 4: seeing his writing in The Atlantic. I mean, he is
- 33:39Speaker 4: the poster child of TDS. Trump de arrangement syndrome. But
- 33:43Speaker 4: unfortunately there are many, many people on both the left
- 33:46Speaker 4: and the controlled opposition full rage, that are speaking right
- 33:49Speaker 4: now very similar language. So you had Jasmine Crockett, who
- 33:53Speaker 4: was a nothing backbencher US congresswoman from the Dallas Fort
- 33:57Speaker 4: Worth area in Texas. She was on MSNBC on Sunday
- 34:00Speaker 4: saying that, you know, to this day, MAGA Republicans, MAGA
- 34:03Speaker 4: extremists pose a unique threat to democracy. You know, King Jeffries,
- 34:08Speaker 4: who is the minority leader of the US House, he
- 34:11Speaker 4: had a two hours after the near assassination again of
- 34:15Speaker 4: Donald Trump, saying that MAGA Republicans are the extreme, unprecedented threat,
- 34:20Speaker 4: taught to twenty twenty five national abortion ban, all this stuff, which,
- 34:23Speaker 4: by the way, not even true. Donald Trump has explicitly
- 34:26Speaker 4: disavowed both of those things. And then ha, King Jeffries
- 34:28Speaker 4: actually doubled down in another post on x on Monday morning.
- 34:32Speaker 4: So these people have no shame whatsoever. But to your
- 34:34Speaker 4: other point, you know, it has not escaped many of us,
- 34:38Speaker 4: that the political violence and the attempts to assassinate political rivals.
- 34:42Speaker 4: You know, it really is disproportionately overwhelmingly I would say
- 34:46Speaker 4: nearly nearly exclusively coming from the political left against the right.
- 34:50Speaker 4: Floyd Lee Corkins back in twenty twelve, who was a
- 34:53Speaker 4: left wing nut job who was ginned up by MSNBC,
- 34:56Speaker 4: tried to assassinate people at the Family Research Council social
- 34:59Speaker 4: conservative Christian in Washington, DC. Five years later, James Hodgkinson
- 35:03Speaker 4: tried to assassinate half of the Republican Congressional baseball team,
- 35:06Speaker 4: almost fatally wounding Steep's lease in the process. In twenty
- 35:09Speaker 4: twenty two, Nicholas Rosky flew from California to Maryland trying
- 35:12Speaker 4: to assassinate Brett Kavanaugh after the Dobbs Abortion League opinion.
- 35:16Speaker 4: Thank god he was arrested at the very last minute.
- 35:18Speaker 5: There.
- 35:19Speaker 4: Audrey hailed the transgender individual who shopped the Covenant School,
- 35:22Speaker 4: the Christian school in Nashville the memo the manifesto was suppressed.
- 35:25Speaker 4: I could go on here and now these two assassination
- 35:27Speaker 4: attempts against Trump, But when would there be any accountability
- 35:31Speaker 4: for what the left is doing in this country to
- 35:33Speaker 4: get people not just to yell at their TVs, but
- 35:35Speaker 4: to actually pick up arms and to try to assassinate
- 35:38Speaker 4: the rivals. It is disgusting stuff.
- 35:42Speaker 3: You are so right. There's been a remarkable lack of
- 35:46Speaker 3: accountability for these Democrats who are spouting the most reckless,
- 35:51Speaker 3: inflammatory retrick. If there were two attempts against Kamala Harris's
- 35:56Speaker 3: life in as many months, every single Republican, even every
- 36:01Speaker 3: single media identity who had been heavily critical of her,
- 36:05Speaker 3: would be under scrutiny. The retoric would be questioned, this
- 36:09Speaker 3: just isn't happening with Trump, and the fact that the
- 36:13Speaker 3: suspects hysterical tweets about Trump mirror what we have seen
- 36:17Speaker 3: from Kamala Harris and many others also in the media
- 36:22Speaker 3: in politics. In some cases some of it is word
- 36:26Speaker 3: for word. And I've got to ask you, Josh, is
- 36:30Speaker 3: another attempt against Donald Trump's life? A matter of when,
- 36:34Speaker 3: not if? How long can Trump play golf have outdoor rallies.
- 36:39Speaker 3: He has been remarkably lucky twice. But as his son
- 36:43Speaker 3: Eric remarked, my father is running out of lives here.
- 36:46Speaker 3: How many more rifles are going to come within assassination
- 36:51Speaker 3: distance of my father? That's what he said, And I'm
- 36:54Speaker 3: sure a lot of people are thinking the same thing.
- 36:59Speaker 5: You know.
- 36:59Speaker 4: I was getting dinner last night with some friends here
- 37:02Speaker 4: in Florida, and the topic of the twenty twenty four
- 37:05Speaker 4: election naturally came up, as it often does these days
- 37:08Speaker 4: here in the US, and one of my friends said
- 37:11Speaker 4: that she thought that Kamala was going to win, and
- 37:14Speaker 4: I said that, no, I actually respectfully disagree. I'm not
- 37:17Speaker 4: confident in this, but I think that if the election
- 37:19Speaker 4: were held tomorrow, I think that Donald Trump would win,
- 37:20Speaker 4: which is at my actual stance. And then my friend
- 37:23Speaker 4: responded and she said, that's assuming that he's alive. I mean,
- 37:26Speaker 4: that's assuming that he is actually on the ballot come
- 37:30Speaker 4: November fifth, and that they have not taken him out.
- 37:33Speaker 4: You know, Look, Red, I have not personally. I'm the
- 37:36Speaker 4: shows that I host or on social media gone ahead
- 37:38Speaker 4: and blamed the Secret Service, a FBI, deep state individual
- 37:42Speaker 4: actors of sabotage and trying to put don Trump in
- 37:45Speaker 4: that position. But I've had many friends who have done
- 37:47Speaker 4: that over the past twenty four to forty eight hours,
- 37:49Speaker 4: and I have to say I do not blame them,
- 37:52Speaker 4: because this is really starting to look like a bit
- 37:54Speaker 4: more than a pure coincidence, isn't it. I mean, if
- 37:57Speaker 4: the Secret Service is really bogged down by d I hires,
- 38:00Speaker 4: which I'm having to believe that it is. You would
- 38:03Speaker 4: think that there will be more high profile screw ups
- 38:05Speaker 4: on other people other than Donald J.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Trump.
- 38:08Speaker 4: I mean, there's other data points there. If the problem
- 38:10Speaker 4: is systemic to the Secret Service, he would not be
- 38:12Speaker 4: the only victim of his gross negligence. How many episodes
- 38:16Speaker 4: of gross negligence do we have to see in order
- 38:18Speaker 4: to conclude that there actually is something perhaps a little
- 38:20Speaker 4: bit more perfidious the sinister are going on here on that.
- 38:23Speaker 3: First assassination attempt. We have now more explosive revelations about
- 38:29Speaker 3: the Secret Service. The New York Post is reporting the
- 38:32Speaker 3: agent in charge of the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania,
- 38:37Speaker 3: was known to be incompetent and failed a key examination
- 38:41Speaker 3: during their federal law enforcement training. This is according to
- 38:44Speaker 3: new whistleblower allegations released by Senator Josh Howley.
- 38:49Speaker 5: How can the Secret.
- 38:50Speaker 3: Service be that incompetent? We've also learned this week their
- 38:54Speaker 3: intelligence units were absent from the Butler rally, and even
- 38:58Speaker 3: after the shooting, they made enormous errors and not properly
- 39:02Speaker 3: securing the hospital where President Trump was receiving treatment. You
- 39:07Speaker 3: can understand why people are believe in conspiracy theories. It's
- 39:13Speaker 3: hard sometimes to believe you could have this level of incompetence.
- 39:18Speaker 4: Yeah, it really is. And sometimes, as we've often learned
- 39:21Speaker 4: in America in the past five to ten years, the
- 39:23Speaker 4: line between the conspiracy theory and fact sometimes it's actually
- 39:27Speaker 4: quite blurry. I mean, the Left obviously has dismissed any
- 39:30Speaker 4: number of things as conspiracy theories, whether it's the lab
- 39:32Speaker 4: leak in Wuhan, China, or the Hunter Biden Russian laptop
- 39:35Speaker 4: as Russian disinformation, which obviously it was not. You know,
- 39:38Speaker 4: so the line does get a little blurry sometimes there.
- 39:42Speaker 4: But you know, generally speaking when it comes to the
- 39:44Speaker 4: Secret Service. I mean, one of my first thoughts when
- 39:46Speaker 4: the when I first heard the news on Sunday was
- 39:49Speaker 4: I mean, I think a lot about America's enemies in
- 39:52Speaker 4: the world, about China, Russia, Aron. I mean, what a
- 39:55Speaker 4: clown show we must look like to our enemies all
- 39:58Speaker 4: around the world. At a time when our enemies are
- 40:00Speaker 4: have never been more on the march over the past
- 40:02Speaker 4: twenty five thirty years. They must look at us and
- 40:04Speaker 4: they must just laugh and laugh and laugh. And you
- 40:07Speaker 4: know another thing that I was thinking about, you know,
- 40:10Speaker 4: the new cycle here in the US is so chaotic,
- 40:12Speaker 4: and we're six seven weeks or whatever it is away
- 40:14Speaker 4: from a presidential election, so the new cycle moving this
- 40:16Speaker 4: quickly is somewhat understandable. But we also moved on from
- 40:20Speaker 4: that first assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, very very very quickly,
- 40:24Speaker 4: and we still have this congressional task for us where
- 40:26Speaker 4: waiting for them to produce any find things. But every
- 40:30Speaker 4: time that there is a a near assassination, an assassination
- 40:34Speaker 4: attempts on a high profile individual, let alone a president
- 40:37Speaker 4: of the United States, every time that happens, and the
- 40:40Speaker 4: new cycle just moves on within a few days as
- 40:43Speaker 4: if nothing happened and no one's even talking about it.
- 40:46Speaker 4: You know, every day that that happens, every instance, God
- 40:48Speaker 4: forbid that happens. If it happens again, God forbid. You know,
- 40:51Speaker 4: America just gets closer and closer to being a full
- 40:53Speaker 4: fledged banana republic. I feel.
- 40:58Speaker 7: You are absolutely right.
- 40:59Speaker 3: The way they tried to memory hold that assassination attempt,
- 41:04Speaker 3: and it was so remarkable in so many ways, the
- 41:07Speaker 3: fact that at that last milli second he turned his head,
- 41:11Speaker 3: saving his life, and still it came within a couple
- 41:16Speaker 3: of centimeters of killing him, and so to have that,
- 41:21Speaker 3: have it all captured on video, and then to see
- 41:25Speaker 3: the media just move on like it was nothing when
- 41:28Speaker 3: they're obsessing about January sixth to this day.
- 41:32Speaker 7: It just tells you everything you.
- 41:34Speaker 3: Need to know about why trust in the media is
- 41:37Speaker 3: at historic Low's Josh and the US media, I think
- 41:41Speaker 3: again this week have really disgraced themselves with the way
- 41:46Speaker 3: they're covering this second attempt, almost blaming Trump and his
- 41:50Speaker 3: supporters for being upset about it.
- 41:54Speaker 4: You know, I don't see a whole lot of sadness. Frankly,
- 41:58Speaker 4: I don't see a whole lot of regrets. I don't
- 42:00Speaker 4: see a whole lot of contemplation or introspection or any
- 42:05Speaker 4: kind of just looking in the mirror and asking whether
- 42:08Speaker 4: or not you know any of these individuals, whether it's
- 42:10Speaker 4: Joy Reid and Jensaki on MSNBC or Joy Behar on
- 42:14Speaker 4: The View, or any of these other individuals. You know,
- 42:16Speaker 4: I don't see a whole lot of people asking am
- 42:19Speaker 4: I partially like like in a small way, and like
- 42:22Speaker 4: am I partially to blame from this current noxious atmosphere
- 42:26Speaker 4: in American politics? I mean, surely it is not asking
- 42:30Speaker 4: too much to ask a bare minimum that we not
- 42:33Speaker 4: call for the extermination either literally or proverbially, of the
- 42:38Speaker 4: opposing candidate. You know, I was I was watching a
- 42:40Speaker 4: clip earlier today of Congressman Dan Goldman, who is in
- 42:43Speaker 4: New York City, very left winging Democrat. You know, he
- 42:45Speaker 4: actually called verbatim for the elimination of Donald Trump earlier
- 42:50Speaker 4: this year. He was talking about this, you know, this
- 42:52Speaker 4: Democratic Party propaganda context that Donald Trump is this unmitigative
- 42:56Speaker 4: threat to democracy, and he actually said he has to
- 42:58Speaker 4: be eliminated. Well, what in the world did you guys
- 43:01Speaker 4: think was going to happen? You know, ultimately we are
- 43:04Speaker 4: culpable for our own actions. I'm not saying that anyone
- 43:07Speaker 4: actually pulled the trigger other than Thomas Crooks and Butler Pennsylvania.
- 43:11Speaker 4: But you also cannot overlook the actual broader context. Those
- 43:15Speaker 4: two things have happened to be both true at the
- 43:17Speaker 4: same time.
- 43:18Speaker 3: I feel, and we're seeing them trying to hold Republicans
- 43:24Speaker 3: responsible for these supposed bomb threats in Springfield, Ohio. But
- 43:30Speaker 3: you can't hold Democrats responsible for characterizing Trump as a hitler,
- 43:36Speaker 3: as a threat to democracy, and then having these acts
- 43:39Speaker 3: of violence perpetuated against him.
- 43:42Speaker 7: It's bizarre.
- 43:43Speaker 3: It's sadly what we've become used to in twenty twenty four.
- 43:47Speaker 3: Josh Hammah, thank you so much for your time this evening.
- 43:51Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 43:51Speaker 7: Reata still to come.
- 43:53Speaker 3: The latest on the more A Deeming defamation case against
- 43:56Speaker 3: John Pursuitter on what we found out from the seventeen
- 44:00Speaker 3: recording played in court today. Welcome back Today, a recording
- 44:13Speaker 3: taken by deputy Victorian Liberal leader David Southwick was played
- 44:16Speaker 3: in the More Redeeming defamation case against John Pursuito.
- 44:21Speaker 10: The court heard.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Senior Victorian liberals confronting more Deeming about attending a woman's
- 44:26Speaker 3: rights rally which was gate crash by cosplaying neo Nazis.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Missus Deming's barrister, Sukrisanthu told the court that her client
- 44:35Speaker 3: was subjected to a shocking and prolonged attack. She said,
- 44:39Speaker 3: it's a form of what young people call gas lighting.
- 44:43Speaker 3: They bullied her.
- 44:44Speaker 8: Now.
- 44:44Speaker 3: This seventy minute recording was captured the day after the protest.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Miss Deeming was told by John Pursuito, either you resigned
- 44:52Speaker 3: from the Parliamentary party or he would look at a
- 44:55Speaker 3: process under the parliamentary rules joining me now is the
- 44:59Speaker 3: head of Advocacy at Women's Forum Australia, Stephanie Bastian, Stephanie,
- 45:05Speaker 3: This case is underway and we're not making any conclusions
- 45:09Speaker 3: or predictions about its outcome, but what can you tell
- 45:13Speaker 3: me about what we learned today and how Mura was
- 45:16Speaker 3: treated during that process? What we found out from that recording.
- 45:24Speaker 10: Well, good evening, Rita and yes, an extraordinary morning in
- 45:28Speaker 10: the courtroom. Obviously we haven't heard the defense respond to
- 45:33Speaker 10: anything yet, but just on faith value, what you can
- 45:37Speaker 10: really see is the bully boy culture that is apparent
- 45:40Speaker 10: in the Liberal Party and this is playing out in
- 45:42Speaker 10: the Federal Court. And whether it's more Deeming Renee Hea
- 45:46Speaker 10: It Cynthia Watson, it really goes to show just how
- 45:49Speaker 10: far these people will go to bludgeon their political opponents out.
- 45:54Speaker 10: If they don't agree with what their views are, they
- 45:56Speaker 10: will try and get rid of them, and they use
- 45:59Speaker 10: the press to do so. That's very obvious with this
- 46:02Speaker 10: recording and the way that they go about it, and
- 46:05Speaker 10: I think that it's good it's being ed because the
- 46:07Speaker 10: Liberal Party needs to have a cleanup. Everyone can see
- 46:10Speaker 10: this going on. We see these anonymous Liberal sources going
- 46:15Speaker 10: through the press raising their concerns. It's very clear, and
- 46:19Speaker 10: I think the Liberal Party needs to meet. Perhaps even
- 46:21Speaker 10: there needs to be a federal intervention, such as in
- 46:24Speaker 10: New South Wales. But what is happening to these female
- 46:27Speaker 10: conservative candidates and MPs is very concerning and it needs
- 46:30Speaker 10: to change.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Well, the Liberal Party, certainly in Victoria, has a problem
- 46:36Speaker 3: with conservative women. You've named just a few there, and
- 46:41Speaker 3: it's not just the bully boys' tactics, because there's plenty
- 46:46Speaker 3: of smaller liberal females within the party who haven't exactly
- 46:50Speaker 3: been supportive of more deeming and other conservative women who've
- 46:54Speaker 3: at different times found themselves under attack. Now, this decision
- 46:58Speaker 3: to go to war with more a Deemis has been
- 47:01Speaker 3: extremely costly for John Pursuto, for the Victorian Libs, for
- 47:05Speaker 3: the Federal Libs. You could argue it's been a distraction.
- 47:09Speaker 3: Are we going to see it at the conclusion of
- 47:11Speaker 3: this case, perhaps a change in policy. Will this be
- 47:14Speaker 3: a bit of an awakening that this is actually an
- 47:17Speaker 3: issue in the community and they've been on the wrong
- 47:19Speaker 3: side of history with it. They've allowed Labor and the
- 47:23Speaker 3: Greens to set the agenda without challenge.
- 47:29Speaker 10: Well, I certainly hope so, and I think This really
- 47:31Speaker 10: shows the issues when you have a leadership team within
- 47:34Speaker 10: five kilometers of each other in.
- 47:35Speaker 7: The tram tracks.
- 47:37Speaker 10: Kamoira's views are supported within the community, particularly in the
- 47:41Speaker 10: Western suburbs. I mean, you go to the last statelection,
- 47:44Speaker 10: the biggest swings to the Liberal Party were in the
- 47:46Speaker 10: Western suburbs where twenty percent labor strongholds went to ten
- 47:51Speaker 10: percent or five percent. The biggest swings were in these
- 47:54Speaker 10: multicultural communities that are being ignored by labor And in
- 47:58Speaker 10: terms of women's forum, Australia imported councils dealing with issues
- 48:02Speaker 10: such as private spaces like change rooms and bathrooms in
- 48:05Speaker 10: the community and this impacts multiculturals and ethnic minority groups
- 48:09Speaker 10: who have very strict rules on privacy in the way
- 48:12Speaker 10: that men and women interact in those private spaces. I
- 48:15Speaker 10: mean even in terms of your private school scenarios. Mums
- 48:19Speaker 10: are very concerned about the fact that their daughters are
- 48:21Speaker 10: sharing dormitories and bathrooms with teenage boys who are identifying
- 48:25Speaker 10: as girls. This is a widespread issue and there are
- 48:28Speaker 10: plenty of women across the political spectrum who now feel
- 48:31Speaker 10: homeless because of the lack of representation, and so this
- 48:34Speaker 10: should be an opportunity for the Liberal party to fill
- 48:37Speaker 10: that void, and instead they're running for cover, they're hiding.
- 48:40Speaker 10: It's political cowardice, and that really played out in the
- 48:43Speaker 10: recording that we heard this morning as well.
- 48:47Speaker 3: Absolutely, it's cowardice, but it's also stupidity. It's not recognizing
- 48:53Speaker 3: that there is enormous interest in this issue and the
- 48:57Speaker 3: overwhelming majority of the people feel unrepresented because you've got
- 49:01Speaker 3: every major political party with the radical transactivists as opposed
- 49:07Speaker 3: to the mainstream opinion that wants to protect women's only spaces.
- 49:12Speaker 3: And that's what that rally was about. It was about
- 49:15Speaker 3: women's rights. Stephanie Bastian, thank you so much for your
- 49:18Speaker 3: time this evening.
- 49:19Speaker 7: That's it from me.
- 49:20Speaker 3: I'll see you at eleven tomorrow and I don't go anywhere.
- 49:23Speaker 3: Newsnight is up next
