- 1:06Speaker 3: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:10Speaker 5: Would you, if you're the Jets offer Garrett Wilson and
- 1:13Speaker 5: Quinnin Williams and a third round pick, you don't give
- 1:16Speaker 5: up a first for the Patriots First, You're not giving
- 1:19Speaker 5: up your first round.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Picky, But I'm giving up to my best players, right,
- 1:22Speaker 1: But they're better than first round, especially Wilson. Now, who's young.
- 1:26Speaker 5: I knew you were going to do that, So think.
- 1:27Speaker 1: About it, though, Why are the Patriots doing this?
- 1:29Speaker 5: Hold on, so ah, so hold on? Now?
- 1:32Speaker 6: You would consider not picking in the first round this year?
- 1:34Speaker 5: Yes, because listen, hear me out, hear me out. I'll
- 1:37Speaker 5: hear you out. I'm getting surefire first round.
- 1:40Speaker 6: Players that neither one play left tackle.
- 1:43Speaker 5: Okay, listen, listen to me. I'm listening to I'm getting
- 1:47Speaker 5: see I would consider it.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Oh my goodness.
- 1:49Speaker 5: So see, I think to me, in what I've seen
- 1:52Speaker 5: of him, and I haven't crushed it like you have.
- 1:55Speaker 5: Wants to know if Deuce is wearing skinny jeans, nouy
- 1:58Speaker 5: wearing skinny jeans. I remember when you bought denim jeans
- 2:01Speaker 5: from Levi's. It took like a month before they were
- 2:03Speaker 5: worked in. Right now, they come already broken in there,
- 2:07Speaker 5: they already got a hole. It's it's not great and
- 2:09Speaker 5: they've given.

- 2:27Speaker 5: at Jillette Stadium.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Happy New Year.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Everybody getting ready for this final game against the Buffalo Bills.
- 2:34Speaker 5: It's going to be an interesting one for a lot
- 2:37Speaker 5: of different reasons, and we're going to get into all
- 2:39Speaker 5: of that. I hope everyone had a good New Year's
- 2:42Speaker 5: Alex Paul, I'm hoping it's a good New Year yeah, Douce,
- 2:46Speaker 5: we'll be here. Evan'll be by later and we'll get
- 2:48Speaker 5: into all that. We gotta hurry because we got to
- 2:50Speaker 5: do picks today. It's a big day. So did we
- 2:56Speaker 5: watch the games yesterday? Two games?
- 2:58Speaker 1: I did. Unfortunately, you know, for more serious reasons, we
- 3:03Speaker 1: didn't get to have all three. But yeah, the first
- 3:06Speaker 1: game I thought was wildly entertaining. The first and only
- 3:09Speaker 1: one of the playoffs that that I would say fit
- 3:12Speaker 1: net that was to State Texas. Game was a lot
- 3:14Speaker 1: of fun.
- 3:15Speaker 5: So I don't care if he's going to be the
- 3:17Speaker 5: equipment manager, but I want this Scibedo guy on my team.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Yeah. So I declared him a back of the envelope.
- 3:25Speaker 5: Oh I know, yeah, I know. He's not your type
- 3:28Speaker 5: of player.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Oh he's a great player, great college.
- 3:31Speaker 5: I thought you wouldn't like him.
- 3:32Speaker 1: He's not going to too hard, No, he's just he's talented,
- 3:36Speaker 1: like he just kind of was constantly overlooked. But he's
- 3:40Speaker 1: you know, he's not Lad McConkey. No, I don't.
- 3:42Speaker 5: I'm not saying he's a first round pick, but I
- 3:44Speaker 5: want him on my team.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Yeah, that's great.
- 3:47Speaker 5: He's one of my Circle the Wagon guys.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Alex is laughing because she knows I have new ins
- 3:52Speaker 1: and outs, and I'm gonna try to see if i
- 3:55Speaker 1: can go at least one day with my new So.
- 3:59Speaker 7: You being out on guys that try too hard, it
- 4:01Speaker 7: is kind.
- 4:02Speaker 5: Of funny, Well, Paul don't like to try hard, Paul.
- 4:06Speaker 1: He doesn't thank you for understanding. Fred sort of makes
- 4:10Speaker 1: it out to be yes, like, if you try, Paul
- 4:13Speaker 1: doesn't like you.
- 4:14Speaker 5: That's you know, if you get if you get there
- 4:19Speaker 5: based on your hustle, he doesn't like you, you know.
- 4:22Speaker 5: He likes guys with talent.
- 4:23Speaker 1: A run through the wall guy who can't play. Okay,
- 4:26Speaker 1: I leave those for other teams.
- 4:28Speaker 7: So that old saying, what is it talent that doesn't
- 4:31Speaker 7: work hard isn't as good as hard work? Yeah, exactly.
- 4:37Speaker 5: That he doesn't believe in that.
- 4:38Speaker 1: No, No, Now, ideally you have guys like Tom Brady
- 4:42Speaker 1: who are very talented and work extremely hard, Like I
- 4:46Speaker 1: don't not want Tom Brady on my team because he
- 4:48Speaker 1: works so hard. He's a try hard like, which is
- 4:51Speaker 1: kind of the way that Fred sort of.
- 4:52Speaker 5: Explained, Well, Paul liked Tom better when he wasn't getting
- 4:55Speaker 5: the employee parking space.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yes, I did. I mean because because we never criticized
- 5:01Speaker 1: him for no longer caring about there.
- 5:02Speaker 5: Andy's the program Andy, and he said he was washed anyway.
- 5:06Speaker 1: But Stataboo's performance in that game yesterday was was unreal.
- 5:10Speaker 5: It was I really enjoyed watching that the night before
- 5:14Speaker 5: Ashton Genty. I have to admit it's the first time
- 5:17Speaker 5: I really had an extended.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Look and same with me.
- 5:20Speaker 5: I think. I think what it showed is when you
- 5:22Speaker 5: go against these Big ten teams or SE team the
- 5:26Speaker 5: better Big ten or SEC teams, the line play is
- 5:29Speaker 5: what makes the difference between these games. And certainly he
- 5:32Speaker 5: ran into a brick wall still at over one hundred yards.
- 5:34Speaker 5: But you notice his helmet's different than everybody else's.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I didn't notice. I was still more of.
- 5:40Speaker 5: A motorcycle helmet, so we still got a grill, but
- 5:43Speaker 5: he's got the piece in the bottom.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Okay as well, I didn't notice that. It's almost watching that.
- 5:48Speaker 5: It's almost like a race car driver helmet.
- 5:51Speaker 7: That's kind of cool.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Yeah, so I've never.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Seen that before.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I but that's good. He's good. He's
- 5:58Speaker 1: a good player, and that game was a little bit
- 6:00Speaker 1: more predictable, and I actually thought it was a little
- 6:02Speaker 1: bit closer than the score indicated it was. You know,
- 6:04Speaker 1: Boyiser gets that touchdown call back, They missed a couple
- 6:07Speaker 1: of field goals. I thought they kind of got in
- 6:09Speaker 1: their own way a little too much.
- 6:11Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, let's first praise Jesus their coach.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Oh, is that what James Franklin s every No?
- 6:17Speaker 5: No, no, that's Penn State's coach, James Franklin. No Boise
- 6:21Speaker 5: States coach before every interview. Please?
- 6:25Speaker 1: So anyway, all wait, the Boise State coach A sorry,
- 6:29Speaker 1: is Jesus guy?
- 6:29Speaker 5: Oh before every every statement? Yeah, but that's fine.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Teach his own all right.
- 6:36Speaker 5: So let's get back to the Patriots coordinators talk today.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Uh Girod talked yesterday, is starting, turning to the head
- 6:45Speaker 5: coach of the offense, Drake may is definitely starting well.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Mayo said yesterday that if he's healthy, he will play right,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and but Van Pelt made it unequivocably clear, well, but
- 6:57Speaker 1: if he's not healthy, he's not gonna be But he
- 6:58Speaker 1: didn't even add that cavea no, but he's going to
- 7:01Speaker 1: play right. I'm trying, Alex, I'm really trying to hold
- 7:05Speaker 1: up out out on my petty arguments with Fred so.
- 7:10Speaker 5: Up until I heard Van Pelt today, because of the
- 7:13Speaker 5: injury to the finger on the playing hand, I thought
- 7:15Speaker 5: there was a possibility he may not. But today Van
- 7:18Speaker 5: Pelt made it clear he's he's definitely starting.
- 7:22Speaker 1: But the information that has changed is that he said
- 7:24Speaker 1: he looked rate and practice yesterday. So with whatever ailments
- 7:30Speaker 1: they put up on he you know, I think Van
- 7:32Speaker 1: Pelt is telling you I had no bearing on his
- 7:34Speaker 1: purpose and that what I just said.
- 7:35Speaker 5: Now that I've heard van Pelt, I said he's starting.
- 7:38Speaker 7: Yeah, you guys usually do say the same thing and
- 7:40Speaker 7: argue by it.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I actually thought Mayo said he was starting yesterday too.
- 7:42Speaker 1: But if that he's.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Healthy, right, But we didn't know that until today.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I knew he was healthy. Okay, you did, I didn't.
- 7:49Speaker 7: I thought Mayo left a little bit absolutely.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I thought he well, thank you. I'm gonna I'm going
- 7:54Speaker 1: to save it for off air because I don't want
- 7:58Speaker 1: to get myself in trouble. But I don't think that
- 8:01Speaker 1: Mayo had I think Mayo's you know what, I'm going
- 8:06Speaker 1: to say it anyway. I think I think I think
- 8:09Speaker 1: Mayo said what he said as a little out in
- 8:12Speaker 1: case someone said to him no no, no, no, he's not
- 8:14Speaker 1: playing like I think the head coach had every intention
- 8:18Speaker 1: starting Drake May, and the offensive coordinator has every intention
- 8:21Speaker 1: of starting Drake May. And the out that was left
- 8:24Speaker 1: yesterday was just in case someone said, could be.
- 8:27Speaker 6: The one we really we really need to play.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Drake could be, you know, so you know, as long
- 8:32Speaker 1: as he gets through the like you didn't say that
- 8:35Speaker 1: every other week, as long as he makes it through
- 8:36Speaker 1: the week. So so that was my take.
- 8:40Speaker 5: So there's been a lot of debate on all the
- 8:42Speaker 5: shows about to win or not to win, to play
- 8:45Speaker 5: to win, to not play to win. I think there's
- 8:48Speaker 5: no doubt whoever's out there, you're playing to win, right,
- 8:51Speaker 5: you know, I don't care if Joe Milton is the
- 8:53Speaker 5: quarterback you're playing. You're playing to win the game. There's
- 8:58Speaker 5: no like telling guys, oh, don't play at one hundred,
- 9:01Speaker 5: but no, you're playing to win.
- 9:02Speaker 1: The question is who's playing. Do you think that May
- 9:04Speaker 1: should play?
- 9:06Speaker 5: You know, I think that I would play Milton, you know,
- 9:10Speaker 5: and not because I'm hooked, not because I want to lose,
- 9:13Speaker 5: but I don't think there's anything to gain at this
- 9:15Speaker 5: point with with May out there.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I think there is.
- 9:17Speaker 7: Something to gain by, especially Buffalo backups.
- 9:20Speaker 5: Yeah, putting Milton. Put Milton out there. Let's see how
- 9:22Speaker 5: he does in a game.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Do we have a backup here? You know, because right
- 9:26Speaker 1: now we don't know.
- 9:27Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know for example. So I think
- 9:30Speaker 5: there is something to gain by putting Milton out there. Plus,
- 9:33Speaker 5: you're giving an atta boy to a guy who you
- 9:36Speaker 5: said all season has been a great teammate, great practice player,
- 9:39Speaker 5: great on the scout team, you know, playing the opposing quarterback.
- 9:43Speaker 5: So give him a bone, give.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Them a game.
- 9:46Speaker 5: So I think there is something to be gained there,
- 9:48Speaker 5: whereas I think there's not much to be gained.
- 9:51Speaker 7: Right, and there's a lot to lose too, you know.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Yeah, And that goes without saying you're right, But I
- 9:56Speaker 5: didn't want to bring that into it.
- 9:58Speaker 7: Yeah, don't put that bad energy out into the world.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Right. So, and this is we talked about this on Tuesday,
- 10:05Speaker 1: and it's not something that I know that like, Evan
- 10:08Speaker 1: is kind of strong, he doesn't think he should play.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I am. This is a rare one for me where
- 10:12Speaker 1: I don't feel hotly strong about any of it. Yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 1: if they play him, I'll be happy to watch him play.
- 10:19Speaker 1: And if they don't, I'll understand why they didn't play him, right,
- 10:21Speaker 1: I'm not really I'm not dying on the hill on this.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I'm not dying on the hill on this one perfectly play.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I do find it a little bit odd though, like
- 10:30Speaker 1: there's not much to be gained for Drake May, which
- 10:33Speaker 1: I kind of agree with, because you're gonna be playing
- 10:35Speaker 1: I think, a glorified preseason game against backups and whatnot.
- 10:39Speaker 1: It's a little bit more than a preseason game because
- 10:41Speaker 1: they are actual NFL players in the preseason. There's a
- 10:43Speaker 1: lot of guys.
- 10:44Speaker 5: He's in fifty fifty four to one hundred.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Yeah, and you've got to play some players because not
- 10:49Speaker 1: every no one has enough players to just sit all
- 10:52Speaker 1: the starters. So you know, there's you know, I agree
- 10:56Speaker 1: there's little to be gained for Drake May. But if
- 10:58Speaker 1: that's the case, then isn't that the same for Joe
- 11:01Speaker 1: Milton the whole find out if he can be your
- 11:03Speaker 1: backup quarterback.
- 11:04Speaker 5: No, but how he runs the game, how he gets
- 11:06Speaker 5: in and out of the huddle, how he looks at things.
- 11:08Speaker 5: You know, like, if he looks terrible, then we've learned something,
- 11:13Speaker 5: I know.
- 11:13Speaker 1: But if he doesn't look terrible. What have you learned
- 11:16Speaker 1: if you can't learn anything about Drake he can do
- 11:19Speaker 1: it at that level.
- 11:20Speaker 5: If he can't do it at that well, we.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Saw him play in the preseason game, so good, but
- 11:24Speaker 1: his performance wasn't good. But getting in and out of
- 11:26Speaker 1: the huddle wasn't it.
- 11:26Speaker 5: But but but let's see if it's performance has improved
- 11:29Speaker 5: since then.
- 11:29Speaker 7: And it's a full season that's gone on since the preseason.
- 11:32Speaker 7: So to judge him based only on what you saw
- 11:34Speaker 7: in a preseason game when he's never taken a regular
- 11:36Speaker 7: season see exactly, it's.
- 11:38Speaker 1: It's a different I think much much of a U
- 11:41Speaker 1: season snap's you know.
- 11:42Speaker 5: I you know, he's now gone through a season of
- 11:45Speaker 5: NFL practices. What has he learned about the offense? What
- 11:49Speaker 5: has he learned about Yeah?
- 11:50Speaker 1: So I think there's you know, I mean I get
- 11:52Speaker 1: all that. I think you guys are right, I mean,
- 11:54Speaker 1: you can you can play that play Joe Milton again,
- 11:57Speaker 1: I'm not going to die on the hill. I just
- 11:59Speaker 1: I would say, I think it's kind of odd that
- 12:01Speaker 1: you're singling out one guy and saying no, no, no, we're
- 12:04Speaker 1: not going to play you. Your too valuable. We don't
- 12:06Speaker 1: want you.
- 12:06Speaker 5: It might be others, but he's the main guy.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Like sends a bad message, like why is he special?
- 12:13Speaker 1: I hear that, you know.
- 12:15Speaker 5: I was just reading just before the show two thousand
- 12:18Speaker 5: and seven when the Patriots in Week sixteen played the
- 12:21Speaker 5: Giants and it was a meaningless game in terms of
- 12:24Speaker 5: standing in everything from both teams, but Coughlin, uh, you
- 12:28Speaker 5: know made the not Coughlin said, you know, we're going
- 12:32Speaker 5: to play.
- 12:32Speaker 1: To win and see a little different.
- 12:34Speaker 5: Well it is.
- 12:35Speaker 1: But afterwards I had this conversation with Mike.
- 12:38Speaker 5: Yeah, after the game, John Madden sent Coughlin a letter
- 12:42Speaker 5: and thanked him for approaching this game the only way
- 12:46Speaker 5: he thought you should approach it.
- 12:48Speaker 1: But I would argue that if the if the Patriots
- 12:50Speaker 1: were you know, twelve and three heading into that game,
- 12:55Speaker 1: Coughlin wouldn't have done what he did.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Well, I don't know, because I The other thing that
- 12:59Speaker 5: I remember from back then is, you know, uh, the
- 13:03Speaker 5: Patriots had beaten them early. Not no, I'm thinking of
- 13:07Speaker 5: something else, but they the Giants had not played well
- 13:12Speaker 5: in that season and they started to turn it on.
- 13:15Speaker 5: And I think for Coughlin, he needed to get his
- 13:17Speaker 5: team ready and what better way to do that to
- 13:19Speaker 5: go up against the team that was going for an
- 13:22Speaker 5: undefeated season. So I think there was a lot to
- 13:24Speaker 5: gain for the Giants by playing well and perhaps winning
- 13:29Speaker 5: that game going into the playoffs.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I think it's one of those things that that's the
- 13:33Speaker 1: way it's You cannot possibly argue that that it didn't
- 13:37Speaker 1: benefit the Giants greatly, But it's one of those deals
- 13:40Speaker 1: that I think the result ended up being that. But
- 13:47Speaker 1: I'm not necessarily sure that's why it happened, do you
- 13:50Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. There's probably it's probably some kind
- 13:55Speaker 1: of a principle that that has a name for that,
- 13:57Speaker 1: you know, like all those different words that you come
- 13:59Speaker 1: up with. But I feel like that's the way it
- 14:02Speaker 1: worked out. But it just as easy, Yeah, Like I
- 14:09Speaker 1: don't necessarily let the result dictate the decision like that,
- 14:13Speaker 1: you know. I don't think it was a bad decision
- 14:15Speaker 1: by the Giants, but it's because the Patriots are going
- 14:18Speaker 1: for perfection, and I think it was important that the
- 14:21Speaker 1: league has an integrity. I think that's what John Madden
- 14:24Speaker 1: was sure was really impressed by, Like the fact that
- 14:27Speaker 1: you took this with such seriousness was impressive, and I
- 14:31Speaker 1: think they should have. I think the Giants did the
- 14:33Speaker 1: right thing. Now, what ended up being unbelievably.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Don't do a Brett Favre fall down for Michael.
- 14:38Speaker 1: It was unbelievably positive for the Giants because it worked
- 14:41Speaker 1: out that they gave the Patriots everything they could handle
- 14:44Speaker 1: and ended up being a great game and the Giants
- 14:46Speaker 1: got a huge boost of confidence they did. I don't
- 14:49Speaker 1: necessarily think that Tom Coughlin went into that game saying
- 14:52Speaker 1: we're going to play this game hard because we're going
- 14:53Speaker 1: to compete with them, and then when we do, we're
- 14:55Speaker 1: going to get a big lift from it. That's what
- 14:57Speaker 1: ended up happening, But I'm not necessarily sure that was
- 14:59Speaker 1: the intention.
- 15:00Speaker 5: No, you're probably right, But I do think there was
- 15:03Speaker 5: the thought that they hadn't played well, they were starting
- 15:06Speaker 5: to gain momentum going into the playoffs, and he needed
- 15:11Speaker 5: to keep his team, you know, rolling, and I think
- 15:15Speaker 5: there wasn't a better opponent to do that with. So like, now,
- 15:18Speaker 5: like you said, what if they had gotten blown out?
- 15:22Speaker 5: Now do you go into the playoffs?
- 15:23Speaker 1: Or worse, what if they you know, lost a player
- 15:25Speaker 1: or two that they needed. Yep, yep, that's the fear.
- 15:29Speaker 1: That's why these teams don't play their guys.
- 15:31Speaker 5: I know, yeah, so it isn't it isn't an apples
- 15:34Speaker 5: to apples comparison. In this case, only one team is
- 15:38Speaker 5: going into the playoffs.
- 15:39Speaker 1: The other one is and we you know, we'll get
- 15:41Speaker 1: into the picks later. And this is as hard a
- 15:45Speaker 1: week as you'll ever have. The last week of the season.
- 15:48Speaker 1: You just have just you just have no idea what
- 15:51Speaker 1: what teams are going to be.
- 15:52Speaker 5: Like yep, yeah, so so there's that who plays in
- 15:57Speaker 5: this game?
- 15:58Speaker 4: Uh?
- 15:59Speaker 5: And then of course the ramifications of a win or loss,
- 16:02Speaker 5: the Patriots can do no worse than four picking in
- 16:05Speaker 5: the draft. But of course if they lose the game,
- 16:07Speaker 5: they could be have the number one overall.
- 16:10Speaker 1: They will have the number one overall they lose. Yeah,
- 16:12Speaker 1: that's locked in.
- 16:13Speaker 5: Yeah, that's locked in if they lose. So you know,
- 16:17Speaker 5: depending on who you want in the draft, you know,
- 16:21Speaker 5: that could be important to you.
- 16:23Speaker 1: So do you listen at all to my shows this morning,
- 16:26Speaker 1: you know with Fred and Hardy?
- 16:28Speaker 5: Yeah? I tried to listen to Fred. I mean, I
- 16:30Speaker 5: don't know why Fred thinks were so interested in his family.
- 16:34Speaker 5: I mean it's one thing like okay, like if you
- 16:37Speaker 5: were really funny and had really funny stories. Maybe it
- 16:41Speaker 5: would become interesting. But I'm not at all interested in
- 16:44Speaker 5: his family school.
- 16:45Speaker 1: See, I kind of agree with it doesn't make them entertaining.
- 16:47Speaker 1: I'm not overly entertained by, you know, the younger people
- 16:52Speaker 1: who do nothing but like are exasperated by their adults,
- 16:55Speaker 1: their parents. Like maybe it's just because I have a
- 16:59Speaker 1: big family oriented person. It's like, you know, my parents
- 17:02Speaker 1: did everything for me. I really don't think it's all
- 17:05Speaker 1: that interesting to like dump all over them, you know,
- 17:08Speaker 1: now that they're older and maybe a little bit crazy.
- 17:12Speaker 1: But the point that he was making about JJ McCarthy
- 17:15Speaker 1: being available in trade.
- 17:16Speaker 5: And that why do you have to trade him? Why
- 17:18Speaker 5: not learn under Donald.
- 17:20Speaker 1: If you wanted to keep Donald for you know, like,
- 17:23Speaker 1: isn't that the perfect insurance policy? Like I don't want
- 17:26Speaker 1: to pull the plug on Sam Donald because he was
- 17:28Speaker 1: so good for us, right, But in the back of
- 17:30Speaker 1: my mind, I'm not quite sure that he hasn't you know,
- 17:35Speaker 1: completely put the seeing ghosts Sam Donald in the in
- 17:38Speaker 1: the rear view mirror. So I'm going to sign him
- 17:41Speaker 1: to a you know, a big deal, but I still
- 17:44Speaker 1: have JJ McCarty in that way of the country. Yeah,
- 17:47Speaker 1: and then if if Donald, then it's the real deal.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Maybe next year you trade him, Like I don't think that, No,
- 17:53Speaker 1: JJ McCarty has to be available this of es.
- 17:56Speaker 5: So Fred Toucher was saying if they signed Donald, they're
- 17:58Speaker 5: going to have to trade McCarthy.
- 18:00Speaker 1: And that he'll be more valuable than Shud or Sanders
- 18:02Speaker 1: or can't which I would agree with that maybe, but
- 18:05Speaker 1: I don't necessarily, even with Fred, I don't think they
- 18:07Speaker 1: have to trade him right now if they wanted to
- 18:09Speaker 1: hold on a Donald, I don't think. Yeah, like JJ
- 18:13Speaker 1: McCarthy costs nothing, is a rookie.
- 18:16Speaker 7: And like you said, Sam, Donald kind of came out
- 18:19Speaker 7: of nowhere this year. Who's to say that continues or
- 18:22Speaker 7: he just reverts back to his mean.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Now, I wouldn't like if if if I were a
- 18:26Speaker 1: Viking fan and they decided to hold on to Donald,
- 18:29Speaker 1: I would say, no, that makes sense. Yeah, I know
- 18:31Speaker 1: why I can win it.
- 18:32Speaker 7: He's earned it. Yeah, he's earned it them both.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Now that also could change in the playoffs, if you know,
- 18:37Speaker 1: he throws three picks and they lose in the playoffs
- 18:39Speaker 1: and everybody's like, oh no, there's the same old Sam
- 18:41Speaker 1: Donald or even Sunday night, you know, against Detroit. I
- 18:46Speaker 1: think he'll play well. I think he's played really well
- 18:48Speaker 1: all year. I just don't understand why, even if you
- 18:51Speaker 1: wanted to re up him for three years, like you
- 18:53Speaker 1: have to get rid of JJ McCarty now you can.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I mean, if you hold on to Donald and he's
- 18:59Speaker 1: your guy, and then eventually you're probably going to have
- 19:01Speaker 1: to move a J. McCarty.
- 19:03Speaker 5: But I don't think you have to do it in
- 19:05Speaker 5: year two. Joe from the Darkness rites in on this
- 19:08Speaker 5: side from the Darkness, That's what he says.
- 19:10Speaker 1: It's got to be another one for those newsletter he says,
- 19:13Speaker 1: I think you can be in the darkness.
- 19:14Speaker 5: I think I think your comparisons between this QB class
- 19:18Speaker 5: and twenty twenty two are off base and overly pessimistic.
- 19:21Speaker 5: Over the last two months, I've seen a growing consensus
- 19:24Speaker 5: among drug draft pundits that these two quarterbacks Ward and
- 19:29Speaker 5: we're talking to Sanders will be top five picks, even
- 19:32Speaker 5: if they are graded lower by those same pundits that
- 19:35Speaker 5: never existed in twenty twenty two. For reference, the mock
- 19:39Speaker 5: Draft database.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Have you been to the site? Can I just stop
- 19:42Speaker 1: for a second, yeah, I don't think anyone in this
- 19:44Speaker 1: show has ever said that these guys are not going
- 19:46Speaker 1: to go in the top five.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Yeah, that's true.
- 19:49Speaker 1: They're just not worthy of being top five picks.
- 19:51Speaker 5: The mock draft database consensus Big Board has Sanders and
- 19:54Speaker 5: Ward as two and three, respectively. That same database ended
- 19:57Speaker 5: twenty twenty two with Malik Willis at ten and pick
- 20:00Speaker 5: It at fifteen and Ritter at thirty one. Additionally, the
- 20:04Speaker 5: comments draft guys have made about these quarterbacks being graded
- 20:08Speaker 5: lower than they will actually be taken are extremely common
- 20:11Speaker 5: for quarterback prospects. Last year, I heard similar comments made
- 20:15Speaker 5: regularly about Daniels, McCarthy, Pennox, and Knicks. Your doomerism about
- 20:20Speaker 5: the quarterbacks at the top of this draft is excessive
- 20:23Speaker 5: and annoying. Sure, they aren't the twenty twenty four to
- 20:26Speaker 5: twenty twenty one classes, but I'm not convinced this is
- 20:30Speaker 5: an extraordinarily weak class.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I feel like it is an extraordinarily talking about two
- 20:36Speaker 1: and I don't That doesn't mean I don't think these
- 20:40Speaker 1: guys are going to go in the top five. I'm
- 20:42Speaker 1: saying I don't think that they're going to be valuable
- 20:44Speaker 1: enough for teams to say, not only I want to
- 20:47Speaker 1: take him in the first round. I'm willing to give
- 20:49Speaker 1: up multiple picks to move up to a spot where
- 20:51Speaker 1: I have to get to take him in the first round.
- 20:54Speaker 1: That's that's all I'm saying, right, I just don't feel
- 20:57Speaker 1: like these guys are thought of the way the top
- 21:01Speaker 1: three were last year. All three of those guys were
- 21:04Speaker 1: worthy of trading for.
- 21:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know.
- 21:05Speaker 1: That's why the Giants were trying so hard to trade
- 21:07Speaker 1: with us to get Drake May. He was the third guy,
- 21:11Speaker 1: and they were clamoring for him. I don't think you
- 21:13Speaker 1: get Listen, maybe I'm wrong, No, but I don't think
- 21:16Speaker 1: the people are going to be clamoring for shit.
- 21:17Speaker 5: And the fact that when we talk about this draft class,
- 21:20Speaker 5: it's only those two guys.
- 21:22Speaker 1: And I don't know why that annoys you. The Patriots
- 21:24Speaker 1: aren't interested in the quarterback.
- 21:25Speaker 7: Market like it's especially if we stay at one.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Like you could still make a trade if you want
- 21:30Speaker 1: tom No, but make a trade.
- 21:32Speaker 5: They're annoyed because they're hoping for the Hall. They're hoping
- 21:35Speaker 5: to get the bag for the first overall pick, you know,
- 21:39Speaker 5: and it's just it may not happen the way it
- 21:41Speaker 5: has in the past, you know, and it's by the.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Way, similar to the way it hasn't happened in the past,
- 21:48Speaker 1: like that year.
- 21:49Speaker 5: It stinks, I know it, but that's just probably the fact.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Yeah, Like you know, Evan, you know, I thought he
- 21:58Speaker 1: recounted in detail about Jacksonville situation. I think it was
- 22:01Speaker 1: the twenty two that he was talking about and ended
- 22:03Speaker 1: up having to say Trayvon Walker because they didn't have
- 22:05Speaker 1: anybody else that was looking to move up and again.
- 22:09Speaker 5: Or at least not for what they were asking.
- 22:11Speaker 1: So Malik Willis was ten, these guys are two and
- 22:13Speaker 1: three like that. Is that that big of a difference?
- 22:16Speaker 5: Well, it is?
- 22:17Speaker 6: Is it really?
- 22:18Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 22:18Speaker 1: Ten to two or yeah, three guys that were supposed
- 22:20Speaker 1: to go in the first round and one of them
- 22:22Speaker 1: was supposed to go ten, who by the way, didn't
- 22:24Speaker 1: go until day two.
- 22:25Speaker 5: No, But I think so, I.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Don't think it's that out of the realm of possibility
- 22:29Speaker 1: that these guys are not as highly sought after as
- 22:32Speaker 1: people think.
- 22:33Speaker 5: I believe that, Yeah, all right. I also talked about
- 22:37Speaker 5: and Matt had it in the in the intro today
- 22:41Speaker 5: about my Jets fantasy trade, you know.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and I just want to stay. I said
- 22:48Speaker 1: to you as we were coming in off there, I
- 22:50Speaker 1: just want to duly noted that you kept saying, listen
- 22:53Speaker 1: to me, listen to me out, hear me out. And
- 22:55Speaker 1: I was listening, and I was hearing you out. I
- 22:57Speaker 1: was not pooing you. That was Evan.
- 23:00Speaker 5: Stephen Westford was also listening. He said, I've made a
- 23:03Speaker 5: lot of fun of Fred over the years, as we
- 23:05Speaker 5: all have. The nut Wizards, soap with a slot, non
- 23:08Speaker 5: tidal river abs the rest have kept us entertaining. But
- 23:12Speaker 5: every once in a while, maybe every four or five years,
- 23:15Speaker 5: Fred's genius shines through.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Four or five years. It's not bad Tuesday. It's a
- 23:20Speaker 1: good run.
- 23:20Speaker 5: It only takes once to be a genius. Tuesday's trade
- 23:23Speaker 5: scenario with the Jets was brilliant, with the Jets keeping
- 23:26Speaker 5: two first round picks. Side note, of course, the Patriots
- 23:28Speaker 5: should want to pick up Wilson and Williams for a
- 23:30Speaker 5: first round pick, and then, as Fred does want to do,
- 23:33Speaker 5: he puked on his own brilliance by asking, by asking,
- 23:37Speaker 5: mere minutes later, why would the Giants ever want to
- 23:40Speaker 5: give up their best receiver for a first round pick?
- 23:43Speaker 1: Never change for it. The difference is I'm going to difference.
- 23:47Speaker 5: Is Garrett Wilson's disgrunt.
- 23:49Speaker 1: That's why that's a huge difference.
- 23:52Speaker 5: That's the thing that sparked why the Jets would even
- 23:55Speaker 5: consider this is because he wants out.
- 23:57Speaker 1: The Jets might feel like they have to trade Gary Alison.
- 24:00Speaker 5: Right.
- 24:01Speaker 1: I don't think the Giants feel like they have to
- 24:03Speaker 1: get rid of name.
- 24:04Speaker 5: Steven Westford. You weren't listening quite as much as you
- 24:07Speaker 5: thought you were.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Fred's genius intact.
- 24:10Speaker 5: Yeah, thank you, Paul.
- 24:12Speaker 1: You're welcome.
- 24:12Speaker 5: Thank you, Paul.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I'm always supportive. It's a new me.
- 24:17Speaker 5: So we've been taking emails.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I've made it twenty five minutes.
- 24:20Speaker 5: Podcast at Patriots dot com is the email address. You
- 24:22Speaker 5: can sign up for the PU newsletter by going to
- 24:25Speaker 5: Patriots dot com slash PU Newsletter sign up. We got
- 24:29Speaker 5: one ready to go tomorrow. Okay, very good. You definitely
- 24:34Speaker 5: want to get that, especially in the off season, you know,
- 24:37Speaker 5: little extra content while the Patriots aren't playing.
- 24:40Speaker 7: So I feel like they're gonna get off the rails
- 24:42Speaker 7: in the off season, the fun.
- 24:43Speaker 5: They might, Yeah, behind the scenes video stuff like that.
- 24:47Speaker 5: In our offices, people don't people don't know where I work.
- 24:51Speaker 5: They don't know where Paul works.
- 24:53Speaker 7: It'd be good to see maybe the pregame show routine,
- 24:56Speaker 7: or there are.
- 24:56Speaker 1: People in the building who don't know where Paul works anymore. Yeah,
- 25:00Speaker 1: some people like, see.
- 25:02Speaker 7: We're all downstairs. I had someone that didn't realize I
- 25:05Speaker 7: even still worked here.
- 25:05Speaker 5: Yeah, well hidden, but guess who's here.
- 25:09Speaker 7: Look who's back from the locker room?
- 25:12Speaker 9: What was the mood where the players friendly to that
- 25:14Speaker 9: none of them look.
- 25:15Speaker 7: Like Devin, Henry Hay, Mike, what was it like.
- 25:20Speaker 4: In the locker room?
- 25:22Speaker 6: Pain Mike?
- 25:23Speaker 4: What was it like?
- 25:27Speaker 5: Hey, Mike, what was it?
- 25:29Speaker 1: Puts a smile on his face.
- 25:31Speaker 7: When you work on your music this off season, this
- 25:33Speaker 7: should be like the first song.
- 25:34Speaker 8: All I can do an acoustic version. I'll actually tell
- 25:37Speaker 8: you what it was like in the locker room with
- 25:38Speaker 8: the musically. Yeah, that's a good idea on that last
- 25:42Speaker 8: one though, Right, this is the last locker Room return
- 25:44Speaker 8: of the year. Fortunately, sadly last last one.
- 25:48Speaker 1: We just play it randomly in the off season.
- 25:51Speaker 5: Clay will be in the locker room on Monday.
- 25:53Speaker 1: No, but we won't be on We won't be on
- 25:55Speaker 1: the air. Yeah, we scheduled to be well as.
- 25:58Speaker 8: Far as we know, imagine, no, but so nice heard
- 26:04Speaker 8: from brendan schooler today and you know, you could tell
- 26:07Speaker 8: it really made a lot, meant a lot to him.
- 26:08Speaker 6: We probably talk about.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Good guys.
- 26:14Speaker 8: He's our pro bowler.
- 26:15Speaker 6: Yeah, congratulations for saving yeah yeah.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:21Speaker 8: But no, he was. He was really excited, you know,
- 26:23Speaker 8: I just see. And these are the moments where he
- 26:25Speaker 8: talked a little bit about being remembering being with his
- 26:27Speaker 8: dad and his brother and watching you know, football games
- 26:31Speaker 8: growing up, and his dad saying, you know, someday maybe
- 26:33Speaker 8: that could be you. And he said, you know, I
- 26:34Speaker 8: just had a really nice, you know phone call with
- 26:36Speaker 8: my family to let them know, and and I was
- 26:38Speaker 8: so you just see, he was, you know, really affected
- 26:40Speaker 8: by it. So it's it's cool, it's the human side
- 26:42Speaker 8: of it. You see. The guy who's you know, obviously
- 26:44Speaker 8: put a ton of work in. I mean, he was
- 26:45Speaker 8: at what two different colleges.
- 26:46Speaker 1: I mean, was he happy for Texas? Were disappointed for Orgon.
- 26:52Speaker 8: Exactly?
- 26:52Speaker 4: No.
- 26:53Speaker 8: They asked him a little bit about that, but he
- 26:55Speaker 8: he was he seemed like he was excited for Texas.
- 26:57Speaker 5: I don't know if we've already posted it, but we have.
- 27:00Speaker 5: When Gerard announced it to the team. So we've got
- 27:03Speaker 5: that shout out to football.
- 27:05Speaker 7: Let us capture that.
- 27:06Speaker 5: Yeah, so that'll be if it isn't already, it's up
- 27:08Speaker 5: on Patriots platforms.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Uh. Yeah.
- 27:11Speaker 7: It was so cool that Slater was in the room
- 27:13Speaker 7: for that, because like Slater or school or story is that,
- 27:17Speaker 7: Like Slater was the guy he modeled his game after him.
- 27:20Speaker 7: And his dad would watch Slater play and say, hey,
- 27:23Speaker 7: this is your path to the NFL, and then by
- 27:25Speaker 7: happenstance they ended up on the same team together.
- 27:27Speaker 5: And just I have to be honest by him. A
- 27:31Speaker 5: few days ago we were told, you know, we've got
- 27:32Speaker 5: one player that made it, and they they wouldn't tell
- 27:35Speaker 5: us who because you.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Know, God forbid we leak it the media.
- 27:38Speaker 5: No first Yeah, but my first my first thing was, oh, Gonzo, Yeah,
- 27:43Speaker 5: you know, use it. And then if not him is Barringer. Yeah,
- 27:46Speaker 5: like like I you know, blame you know, uh not
- 27:51Speaker 5: not good on me, But I forgot about Schooler.
- 27:54Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, now, I uh, you know one of the
- 27:56Speaker 8: things I'd point out too, because we kind of I
- 27:57Speaker 8: think we gave him a little crap last year about
- 27:59Speaker 8: some of his inability to kind of keep his temper
- 28:02Speaker 8: under control.
- 28:03Speaker 6: Definitely.
- 28:04Speaker 1: He definitely cut back on the undisciplined penalty.
- 28:07Speaker 8: And he said that today, he said, you know, he said,
- 28:08Speaker 8: last year, I thought, you know, I took some stupid
- 28:10Speaker 8: penalties and kind of lost control, and I, you know,
- 28:12Speaker 8: really trying to be more of a leader this year.
- 28:14Speaker 8: So uh, you know, not a lot of bright spots
- 28:16Speaker 8: this year.
- 28:16Speaker 1: But but I definite on him, and good on you
- 28:18Speaker 1: bringing it up because we were both of us were
- 28:19Speaker 1: critical in a lot of post games last year of
- 28:22Speaker 1: you know, another unsportsmanlike contract penalty or another late hit,
- 28:25Speaker 1: you know kind of stuff. And I don't think he
- 28:27Speaker 1: had any of those.
- 28:28Speaker 8: No, No, I mean he you know, they asked him
- 28:30Speaker 8: about it, but he brought it up, and yeah, just
- 28:32Speaker 8: a good story, you know. I mean it's just it's
- 28:34Speaker 8: nice to just have a little see it's something positive
- 28:36Speaker 8: come out of this season winner this year.
- 28:39Speaker 5: Yeah, So maybe you want to rest him so he's
- 28:42Speaker 5: ready for the.
- 28:44Speaker 8: Pro Bowl games. He's gonna get in that dodgeball game.
- 28:45Speaker 8: You want to make sure he's nice in the limber.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Seemed like a good dodgeball player thin, So we can
- 28:51Speaker 1: turn sideways hard, you know, it's versatile, might hit the flow,
- 28:56Speaker 1: you'd have to get the replay to hit his hair.
- 28:59Speaker 8: But also uh, in terms of the revs locker room,
- 29:02Speaker 8: heard from Christian Ellis as well as Kendrick Bourne too,
- 29:04Speaker 8: So uh, Bourn kind of interesting thought, Mike, you already
- 29:07Speaker 8: had a good question for him. Uh, listed off all
- 29:10Speaker 8: the different Josh McDaniels, Matt Patricia, Bill O'Brien, Alex Van Pelt.
- 29:13Speaker 8: You've had four different coordinators here. You know, is it
- 29:16Speaker 8: hard on a player? And he said, yeah, you know,
- 29:18Speaker 8: it's an underrated part of it is, you know, understanding
- 29:20Speaker 8: how the offense is run, what the what this offensive
- 29:22Speaker 8: coordinator is looking for. Uh so he's you know, vote
- 29:25Speaker 8: confidence for avp s that he really likes a VP,
- 29:27Speaker 8: but just a player's perspective, a receiver's perspective on some
- 29:31Speaker 8: of the challenges. And I mean he's had and I'm
- 29:33Speaker 8: sure he had another OC when he's at San Francisco too,
- 29:35Speaker 8: so you know, he's had a bunch of different offenses.
- 29:37Speaker 8: And I mean I think the other thing is like
- 29:39Speaker 8: these guys all seem to understand this is just how
- 29:41Speaker 8: the league works. I mean even the coaches talking today,
- 29:43Speaker 8: it's you know, this is it you win three games,
- 29:46Speaker 8: everybody knows everything's on the table, and you don't know
- 29:48Speaker 8: what's gonna happen next week.
- 29:49Speaker 5: You're talking about Covington and a VP talking.
- 29:51Speaker 8: Yeah AVP, I mean AVP especially. I mean, I just
- 29:54Speaker 8: I think we all, I mean all speak for myself,
- 29:56Speaker 8: but I just I really enjoyed listening to him this
- 29:58Speaker 8: this year. He's very honest, Yeah, coach, willing to admit mistakes, like,
- 30:04Speaker 8: you know, pointing out like I shouldn't have called that
- 30:06Speaker 8: play the other day. I thought, uh, you know, I
- 30:08Speaker 8: mean obviously had a you know, a couple of missteps
- 30:10Speaker 8: this season, but overall, just I just enjoyed listening to him.
- 30:13Speaker 8: I mean that's I'd probably say the same for Josh
- 30:15Speaker 8: back in the day. Like you know, certain coaches you
- 30:17Speaker 8: just enjoy listening to their view on football, and especially
- 30:20Speaker 8: when with a VP, it's not is you don't feel
- 30:22Speaker 8: like it's being editorialized. Really, he's just kind of telling
- 30:25Speaker 8: how he feels, and yeah, I just I appreciated that
- 30:27Speaker 8: from him.
- 30:28Speaker 5: Yeah. So, I mean that's gonna be the big topic
- 30:31Speaker 5: after this game, is who stays, who goes. I know,
- 30:35Speaker 5: there's to me, there's been a little bit of a
- 30:37Speaker 5: ground swell to keep AVP and I think that started
- 30:41Speaker 5: maybe three quarters of the way through the season. I
- 30:45Speaker 5: think Paul you were the one of all the names,
- 30:48Speaker 5: the top names on the team, starting with wolf Down.
- 30:53Speaker 5: Of those guys, it you know, just from appearances, a
- 30:57Speaker 5: VP looks like he's done the best job.
- 30:59Speaker 1: And I think he's had the hardest job.
- 31:01Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, like the offense, forget about the stats,
- 31:06Speaker 5: but just look at the development of Drake May, which
- 31:08Speaker 5: was priority number one for him.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he did a pretty good job with that.
- 31:12Speaker 1: And it's not perfect, and he is. He tells us
- 31:15Speaker 1: every week all these little things, you know, like he's
- 31:17Speaker 1: really hard on himself. He talked about that pitch against
- 31:20Speaker 1: the Chargers that you know resulted in the fumble. He
- 31:24Speaker 1: he put that on him. I put them in a
- 31:26Speaker 1: bad spot. I put our guys in a bad spot.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Those are the ones they keep them up. And again
- 31:31Speaker 1: I'm not trying to give them all this credit, like, well,
- 31:33Speaker 1: maybe stop making bad play calls and you wouldn't be
- 31:36Speaker 1: keeping yourself up. So it's not been perfect. I'm not
- 31:38Speaker 1: trying to say that, but I think out of those
- 31:41Speaker 1: four guys, his job was the most difficult given the
- 31:43Speaker 1: lack of support and the fact that you're dealing with
- 31:47Speaker 1: a rookie quarterback. So if anyone I think has made
- 31:52Speaker 1: a case for himself, I think it's Alex ran Pell.
- 31:54Speaker 8: He's earned the case to give him some talent, like
- 31:56Speaker 8: you know, some of the other you know the other.
- 31:57Speaker 1: How does it look if?
- 31:58Speaker 8: Yeah, players, you could say that about across the roster,
- 32:01Speaker 8: but he's one where you know, he was able to
- 32:04Speaker 8: bring a few things together. I agree.
- 32:06Speaker 5: I mean I was reading something today about his time
- 32:08Speaker 5: in Cleveland and when he got released, and there were
- 32:10Speaker 5: a lot of people that were a little bit baffled
- 32:13Speaker 5: on why they released him, you know, based on the
- 32:16Speaker 5: situation there and the job he was doing.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Yeah, because they had done they had remained productive offensively
- 32:22Speaker 1: with four or five quarterbacks during the course of the year.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Now what a lot of people And I was one
- 32:28Speaker 1: that was very strongly on Van Pelt's side, But I
- 32:31Speaker 1: didn't realize, you know, how little he had to do
- 32:33Speaker 1: with the you know, the play calling and all that stuff.
- 32:35Speaker 1: You know from Afar, you don't know the ins and
- 32:37Speaker 1: outs like that. Stefanski was calling the plays. But yeah,
- 32:40Speaker 1: you're right, a lot of people in Cleveland, were like,
- 32:42Speaker 1: he wasn't the problem. What are we doing?
- 32:44Speaker 5: Right?
- 32:44Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 32:45Speaker 5: Yep. So so he taught Paul and I mentioned a
- 32:49Speaker 5: little bit, you know, he came out definitively and said
- 32:51Speaker 5: that May will be playing. He will start. Yeah, so
- 32:55Speaker 5: that doesn't mean he's going to play the whole game.
- 32:56Speaker 1: But do you think he should play? We had a
- 32:59Speaker 1: we had a quick.
- 33:00Speaker 8: You know, I think if I was doing it, I
- 33:02Speaker 8: would start him. I'd play him a couple series and
- 33:04Speaker 8: then I put Jill Milton in and I just I
- 33:06Speaker 8: want to give him this week of prep. I think
- 33:08Speaker 8: he needs to play. I think the value of going
- 33:09Speaker 8: against Buffalo, even if it's backups again, you know, I
- 33:13Speaker 8: just I just doesn't.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Sound like that it's gonna be like the way they
- 33:15Speaker 1: said that Milton got some reps this week, and.
- 33:17Speaker 8: They asked, you know, they asked, I think inter Callahan
- 33:21Speaker 8: asked did he get any reps? And and Alice confirmed
- 33:24Speaker 8: today that he did. And then Kendrick Bourne was also
- 33:26Speaker 8: asked a little bit about Joe Milton, and you know,
- 33:28Speaker 8: and he kind of seemed to confirm that he got
- 33:30Speaker 8: some reps yesterday and a lot of these I mean,
- 33:32Speaker 8: Kendrick very high on on Milton, just the attitude that
- 33:35Speaker 8: he brings, and you know, he he's obviously been behind
- 33:38Speaker 8: the scenes this year, but I think everybody like to
- 33:40Speaker 8: just I mean, it's kind of fun. Why wasn't that
- 33:42Speaker 8: guy chuck that ball down the field? I wouldn't be
- 33:44Speaker 8: opposed to it.
- 33:44Speaker 5: Oh yeah, anything from Covington that raised your.
- 33:48Speaker 8: Eyebrown Not really and maybe that's that's the bad thing,
- 33:52Speaker 8: but I don't know. Yeah, I mean, it's just it's
- 33:53Speaker 8: kind of, you know, settling in saying the same things
- 33:56Speaker 8: every week of you know, we just got to play better.
- 33:57Speaker 8: I mean, I do think he came out pretty you know,
- 34:00Speaker 8: support for key On White. I surprised talking about you know,
- 34:03Speaker 8: he's been over my house at Christmas, because I mean,
- 34:06Speaker 8: for me, it was hard not to hear some of
- 34:09Speaker 8: what Keon was saying and feel kind of like it
- 34:11Speaker 8: was aimed at how I'm being used and you know,
- 34:13Speaker 8: how what they're making me do. And you know, I
- 34:15Speaker 8: think some of those arguments that Keon might have been
- 34:17Speaker 8: making that we all could have pushed back a little
- 34:19Speaker 8: bit and said, well, key On, maybe you got to
- 34:20Speaker 8: do what's right for the team in this situation. It's
- 34:22Speaker 8: not just about you know, unleashing you and letting you
- 34:24Speaker 8: go get the quarterback. I think that's the growth process
- 34:27Speaker 8: of a young player too. But we'll see, we'll see.
- 34:30Speaker 8: With Covington, I mean, he's been pretty consistent all year.
- 34:32Speaker 8: I think we Paul and I both felt like one
- 34:34Speaker 8: of one of the press conferences he seemed to lack
- 34:36Speaker 8: his swag a little bit. But otherwise he's been He
- 34:38Speaker 8: has been consistent, even though the you know, the well,
- 34:40Speaker 8: I guess the results have been pretty consistent too, in
- 34:42Speaker 8: a bad way. But you know, it's hard, It's it's
- 34:45Speaker 8: just you find yourself sitting there wondering, this is a
- 34:48Speaker 8: first yeer head coach, and you know, we knew there
- 34:50Speaker 8: were going to be some ups and downs, but you're weighing,
- 34:53Speaker 8: you know, how how bad was it really? And is
- 34:54Speaker 8: it going to get it? Do you really believe it
- 34:56Speaker 8: can get better if these guys are giving more opportunities?
- 34:59Speaker 5: Eric and Maryland says this is a true story. I
- 35:01Speaker 5: had to get new tires yesterday and instead of waiting
- 35:03Speaker 5: at the Firestone shop, I decided to walk about a
- 35:06Speaker 5: mile to a nearby food court for lunch. Unfortunately, the
- 35:10Speaker 5: last thing I heard on my car radio before the
- 35:12Speaker 5: walk was that damp jingle from Cars for Kids. That
- 35:15Speaker 5: jingle makes me want to repeatedly beat my skull against
- 35:17Speaker 5: a concrete wall to get that earthworm out of my head. Luckily,
- 35:22Speaker 5: I remembered Mike's song and forced myself to say, in
- 35:25Speaker 5: a matter of moments, Car for Kids was no longer
- 35:28Speaker 5: in my head, replaced by the soothing melodies of Mike's
- 35:31Speaker 5: adventures with Derrick Henry. That song saved my sanity.
- 35:36Speaker 7: It doesn't matter how long you go without hearing the
- 35:39Speaker 7: Cars for Kids jingle, Like if you think of it once,
- 35:41Speaker 7: you're screwed with the kids stuck in your head.
- 35:43Speaker 8: Hey a r S car spreeks. I donated a car
- 35:45Speaker 8: of Cars for Kids, probably because of that jingle, like
- 35:47Speaker 8: my Mike O G Blazer that I wrote I drove
- 35:50Speaker 8: from ninety one to two thousand and four.
- 35:51Speaker 5: That w And they also say donate wrong, they say today.
- 35:59Speaker 8: They do songs back in a lot of people's heads. Now, sorry, yeah, sorry.
- 36:04Speaker 5: All right? A five to five pats five hundred is
- 36:06Speaker 5: the TPX hotline. We got a hurry because we got
- 36:08Speaker 5: picked today. Was it just a preview a good week?
- 36:12Speaker 1: Oh it's another very strong, very strong for Evan.
- 36:15Speaker 8: Did he falter at all?
- 36:17Speaker 1: No, he didn't have the best week though. There was
- 36:20Speaker 1: a three way tied at the top and he was
- 36:21Speaker 1: not among it. When he was like one game back.
- 36:24Speaker 7: He's still going to be not victory.
- 36:26Speaker 8: He's gonna win.
- 36:27Speaker 1: He's gonna win both.
- 36:28Speaker 7: He's gonna come in with like a trophy.
- 36:30Speaker 5: I have a.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Chance to catch him in spread, but I don't.
- 36:33Speaker 5: I don't. Does he have a LinkedIn account? I don't
- 36:35Speaker 5: know if that he wanted to pick up a bad
- 36:39Speaker 5: and will know how much it meant winter the picks
- 36:41Speaker 5: and all of the year. What's up, Fidel?
- 36:50Speaker 9: Hey you guys. Hey, I'm doing great.
- 36:55Speaker 6: Uh?
- 36:55Speaker 9: And she had a funny story. Just came back from Boston.
- 36:58Speaker 9: Had a great time. It was the Chargers game.
- 37:00Speaker 8: It was amazing, really okay.
- 37:04Speaker 9: I have a funny story about what actually happened at
- 37:06Speaker 9: the Stay Beautiful Stadium. By the way, best experience I
- 37:09Speaker 9: ever had an NFL game?
- 37:12Speaker 5: Where'd you set asart from the game part, where'd you say?
- 37:16Speaker 9: In the one around the fifty yard line? I was
- 37:18Speaker 9: like feet away from the Patriots, but not bad?
- 37:21Speaker 8: There you go?
- 37:23Speaker 9: Yeah, but uh, I kind of accidentally found myself in
- 37:29Speaker 9: Girodmeo's family's sleep what.
- 37:34Speaker 4: Yeah, it was.
- 37:35Speaker 9: It was by accident. It was by accident. So I
- 37:39Speaker 9: was taking photography photos, so I brought my camera. It's
- 37:42Speaker 9: like a small camera but as like a zoom lens
- 37:44Speaker 9: kind of thing. So midway to the game, we're getting
- 37:48Speaker 9: blown out, so I'm like, all right, let me just
- 37:50Speaker 9: walk around take photos. So I'm walking up from the
- 37:55Speaker 9: one hundreds and I'm going to the two hundred level
- 37:58Speaker 9: to the three hundred level. And as I'm walking up,
- 38:01Speaker 9: I see there's like a gaze area, but it's not
- 38:03Speaker 9: like secured or like don't get one fired right now,
- 38:07Speaker 9: but it was. There was no one there, but I
- 38:09Speaker 9: saw a cool overlook of the stadium. So I'm like, oh,
- 38:12Speaker 9: so I just walked through because there was no real
- 38:15Speaker 9: like anything there, and I saw people were already there,
- 38:18Speaker 9: so I walked through start taking pictures, and the group
- 38:22Speaker 9: that was there already started walking into this area. I
- 38:26Speaker 9: didn't know where it was leading to. I'm like, oh,
- 38:28Speaker 9: maybe it's another side of the stadium. So I'm walking
- 38:32Speaker 9: with them and I'm going through and I accidentally wound
- 38:36Speaker 9: up in that private suite area that you guys just
- 38:39Speaker 9: built the stadium like last year. I'm like, oh, wow,
- 38:41Speaker 9: this is amazing. So I'm walking through, I grab a
- 38:47Speaker 9: splash of prime rib. I'm watching the game and then
- 38:52Speaker 9: this at this point is when lat McConkie scores a
- 38:55Speaker 9: second touchdown and I'm eating primary, like, no, friends, this
- 38:58Speaker 9: should have been us. It should have gotten lad and
- 39:03Speaker 9: looking through the suite and I'm having a great time,
- 39:07Speaker 9: and I see this on another two three levels. I'm like, oh,
- 39:10Speaker 9: what's up there? So I see a group going down
- 39:13Speaker 9: into the elevator and I just naturally follow them, all.
- 39:17Speaker 6: Right, and anybody working security.
- 39:19Speaker 9: They start talking and stuff, and I'm just falling done
- 39:23Speaker 9: because i have nowhere else to go. And they just
- 39:25Speaker 9: walk into a suite and as I walk in, I
- 39:30Speaker 9: see like, oh, I'm in someone's private sy like a
- 39:32Speaker 9: sponsor or something like that. And I look around and
- 39:36Speaker 9: I start seeing people in Girodmeo's jerseys. And then I
- 39:42Speaker 9: hear someone point out to me, oh, you have a camera,
- 39:46Speaker 9: you take pictures. I go, yeah, I do, and they go, oh,
- 39:49Speaker 9: can you take our pictures?
- 39:52Speaker 5: They don't have phone?
- 39:53Speaker 9: It was his daughter's. No, it was my actual camera.
- 39:56Speaker 5: No, I know, but like, okay, yeah, but everybody's got
- 39:59Speaker 5: a camera now?
- 40:01Speaker 9: Oh yeah, anyone who got the camera?
- 40:03Speaker 7: Now?
- 40:03Speaker 9: So they go in they take photos. I'm like yeah,
- 40:05Speaker 9: And apparently it was his daughter's birthday. So I was
- 40:10Speaker 9: hitting shooncause of the entire family on my camera.
- 40:15Speaker 5: And did you share them with them? And like they
- 40:18Speaker 5: you know, yes, I.
- 40:19Speaker 9: Did, so I grabbed one of the cousins or nephew's
- 40:23Speaker 9: Instagram and I shared, so I have photos of their
- 40:26Speaker 9: entire family.
- 40:27Speaker 1: I'm like, uh wow, said to them.
- 40:29Speaker 9: On Instagram after and halfway through that, Nikovich just shows up.
- 40:36Speaker 5: Is this a dream or did this really happen? Okay,
- 40:41Speaker 5: I don't need Okay, I believe you. Yeah. Is there
- 40:45Speaker 5: a payoff for this?
- 40:51Speaker 1: Okay?
- 40:51Speaker 9: Great experience? And then I ended up going leaving the
- 40:54Speaker 9: stadium a great experience, didn't.
- 40:57Speaker 6: I thank you.
- 41:00Speaker 5: We'll have to opsecurity. Thanks for the thanks for the tip,
- 41:02Speaker 5: and I'm glad you had a good time.
- 41:04Speaker 7: At least the prison admission was worth it.
- 41:06Speaker 5: And that was with the may That is a cool story,
- 41:11Speaker 5: but kind of weird.
- 41:13Speaker 8: Yeah, where's the prime ribat and there's no prime ry.
- 41:16Speaker 1: I look forward to I'll be arriving on Sunday and
- 41:18Speaker 1: if I'm not in the right door when I come in,
- 41:23Speaker 1: and this guy evidently just allowed to.
- 41:27Speaker 7: Fake it till you make it. You know, you look
- 41:29Speaker 7: like you.
- 41:29Speaker 5: Belong because when he started the story, he said he
- 41:32Speaker 5: ended up in the suite, but he was in the
- 41:33Speaker 5: hundred level, and I just I'm thinking to myself, how'd
- 41:36Speaker 5: you get up there? Because there's no direct access for
- 41:39Speaker 5: even if you like go to the three hundred, you
- 41:41Speaker 5: can't just walk into the suite area. But I think
- 41:44Speaker 5: what happened is he was in the GPA rim and
- 41:48Speaker 5: they had those you can get access from there. Yeah,
- 41:51Speaker 5: and I think he hooked up, but he shouldn't even anyway.
- 41:53Speaker 5: Good for him.
- 41:54Speaker 7: Imagine you're just like looking around and you see a
- 41:57Speaker 7: kid and you're like, wow, that young boy has Gmeo's face.
- 42:01Speaker 1: He always got his jerseys too. Jeez.
- 42:03Speaker 8: I wonder what that sweet was like during your birthday.
- 42:04Speaker 8: And I hope they're having fun.
- 42:06Speaker 5: Uh, Patty's an agawam, what's up? Patty?
- 42:10Speaker 9: Hey, good afternoon everyone.
- 42:11Speaker 10: I finally sobered.
- 42:12Speaker 6: Up from the New Year's okay home mind, So I just.
- 42:18Speaker 10: Kind of wanted to get into the whole, the whole
- 42:22Speaker 10: coaching coaching staff and how I felt about how I
- 42:26Speaker 10: felt about it after the bye and I listened to
- 42:29Speaker 10: a Tom Kerr's podcast, No Sense Pready with Brian Hoyer,
- 42:32Speaker 10: and he was kind of making a case of bringing
- 42:34Speaker 10: him back. But I don't know, man, Like, after I
- 42:38Speaker 10: saw what they did in Arizona and just the compete
- 42:42Speaker 10: level that they had that day and from this past week,
- 42:45Speaker 10: I don't know how you bring the guy back. And
- 42:48Speaker 10: it sucks, it's unfortunate, but I think if there's you know,
- 42:51Speaker 10: Rabel's really out there and you got a chance to
- 42:53Speaker 10: get him, I would go and try and get him.
- 42:56Speaker 10: And Freddy's what kind of triggered this for me was
- 42:59Speaker 10: what you said on the postgame show, how Mayo has
- 43:02Speaker 10: no network, Like if we move on from these coordinators,
- 43:05Speaker 10: who the hell are we picking? Like, who's gonna come here?
- 43:08Speaker 10: How many friggin' interviews are we going to have for
- 43:10Speaker 10: each coordinator position?
- 43:11Speaker 5: I know, and while you're doing that, who's thinking about
- 43:15Speaker 5: twenty twenty five right now?
- 43:16Speaker 9: I hear you, you know, so I just I mean,
- 43:20Speaker 9: if I think if he's there and he got a
- 43:22Speaker 9: chance to get him, I would just say, you know,
- 43:24Speaker 9: go through.
- 43:25Speaker 10: The process, do what you didn't do this last cycle.
- 43:28Speaker 10: I'm interview some candidates and I mean, if he's the
- 43:31Speaker 10: one that you want to land on, land on because
- 43:33Speaker 10: I'm sorry, Like I love Gerard as a player. I
- 43:36Speaker 10: was really excited to see what he could do this year.
- 43:38Speaker 10: But after the bye, he just he lost me. And
- 43:41Speaker 10: I'm sure there's a lot of other fans out there
- 43:43Speaker 10: like me.
- 43:43Speaker 5: That's all I got, guys, No thanks, listen. I have
- 43:47Speaker 5: to be honest. I see the emails and usually you know,
- 43:52Speaker 5: we've had these type of debates before, not really getting
- 43:55Speaker 5: rid of coaches. But I think, you know, I think
- 43:57Speaker 5: we might have had Remember we did the polls in
- 44:00Speaker 5: the past. I forget what the subject matter was, but
- 44:02Speaker 5: it was important.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Stuff was yeah, like I don't know if we would
- 44:07Speaker 1: have done something like that.
- 44:08Speaker 5: No, but it was. It was like half and half.
- 44:10Speaker 5: But all the emails I'm getting right.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Now are move on. I mean we talked about the
- 44:18Speaker 1: you know, like the radio station like NBC Sports Boston
- 44:20Speaker 1: had one about a month ago, e I had one
- 44:23Speaker 1: last week. It's like ninety something single digits. I know,
- 44:27Speaker 1: move on, blow it up, you know, whatever however you
- 44:29Speaker 1: want to classify.
- 44:31Speaker 8: It's the hard thing too, is he has, you know,
- 44:32Speaker 8: just no bat previous experience. So I think even with
- 44:34Speaker 8: somebody like Alex van Pelt, you can at least look
- 44:36Speaker 8: to some of the things he's done in the past
- 44:38Speaker 8: and say, you know, there is evidence before that he's
- 44:40Speaker 8: you know, pulled performances out of people, and you know,
- 44:42Speaker 8: so there's just Gerard had a really hard task this
- 44:45Speaker 8: year and like, you know, not only jumping into a
- 44:47Speaker 8: head coaching position, but proving to everybody that he has
- 44:50Speaker 8: some promise as a as a coach in charge of people.
- 44:53Speaker 8: She he's never done before.
- 44:54Speaker 5: You know what what I have a hard time with
- 44:56Speaker 5: is when I get asked the question, and I got
- 44:58Speaker 5: asked this morning by somebody, what would you do? I
- 45:01Speaker 5: have a hard time answering it, you know, factually because
- 45:05Speaker 5: I don't have the facts.
- 45:07Speaker 1: We've talked about this before.
- 45:08Speaker 5: I don't know how good these coaches are really and
- 45:12Speaker 5: we know the product that they're putting out there, but
- 45:15Speaker 5: is it the product of the roster bad coaching? Both
- 45:20Speaker 5: we not have the practices, we're not in the meeting rooms,
- 45:23Speaker 5: we don't know the communication. And I was saying, like
- 45:26Speaker 5: if I was an owner and I know, like people
- 45:29Speaker 5: will laugh at this, but when I'm sitting in my
- 45:32Speaker 5: suite watching the game, I would have like a box
- 45:34Speaker 5: underneath my seat with a wireless connection to a little headset,
- 45:39Speaker 5: and I would listen to everything going on on game day.
- 45:42Speaker 5: I wouldn't be able to talk have any input, but
- 45:45Speaker 5: I'd want to hear all the communication that's happening on
- 45:48Speaker 5: game day because if I'm the ultimate person that's making
- 45:52Speaker 5: this decision as an owner, I need the information. I
- 45:56Speaker 5: can't sit down with Gerard Mayo and say, Gerard do
- 45:58Speaker 5: you think you should stay? I mean, what's he gonna say,
- 46:00Speaker 5: Alex Vanpel do you think you should stay? Elliott Wolf?
- 46:03Speaker 1: Do you think you did a good job?
- 46:05Speaker 5: So I need to get some honest information. I don't
- 46:09Speaker 5: have it, So it's hard for me to say, yeah,
- 46:11Speaker 5: blow it up, you know, like a lot of fans do,
- 46:14Speaker 5: which I don't blame him. I'm not saying that they
- 46:16Speaker 5: don't have a right to say that, But it's just
- 46:19Speaker 5: when you really sit down and you're the person who
- 46:21Speaker 5: has to make that decision, you have to do it
- 46:23Speaker 5: with information, you know. That's all I'm saying. That's why
- 46:28Speaker 5: it's difficult. Plus we're dealing with human beings. I don't
- 46:30Speaker 5: caval literally say fire this guy.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Well, that's that's you know, that's really true. Like, I
- 46:37Speaker 1: don't I've never felt comfortable doing that now. You know,
- 46:40Speaker 1: if you ask me what I think, I'm going to
- 46:41Speaker 1: tell you what I think. But it doesn't you know,
- 46:43Speaker 1: there's a we were talking about this today. There's a
- 46:46Speaker 1: local media member who didn't have his contract. We knew,
- 46:49Speaker 1: and you'd have thought, like based on the comments of
- 46:52Speaker 1: like these fans and whatnot, it was like the fourth
- 46:55Speaker 1: of July, like this is the greatest day ever. This
- 46:57Speaker 1: guy a guy who's out of a job, right, it's
- 47:00Speaker 1: a human being. I don't know why it's such a
- 47:02Speaker 1: cause for celebration, and I think that sometimes we lose
- 47:06Speaker 1: sight of that when we talk, well, this guy's got
- 47:07Speaker 1: to go, that guy should be fired. Yeah, yes, I think.
- 47:10Speaker 1: You know, you can make an argument, like Fred said,
- 47:12Speaker 1: I understand why the fans are thinking what they are,
- 47:14Speaker 1: and there's been a lot of things that I've questioned
- 47:16Speaker 1: during the course of the season. It doesn't necessarily mean
- 47:18Speaker 1: I'm going to revel in, you know, like Bill Belichick
- 47:21Speaker 1: losing his job last year, Like that's not a cause
- 47:24Speaker 1: for a celebration. I thought it was time that that
- 47:26Speaker 1: he should go. We talked about it a lot of
- 47:28Speaker 1: you know, toward the end of last year. I would
- 47:31Speaker 1: have moved on. I think they made the right choice.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Doesn't mean that you have to be excited about it, right.
- 47:35Speaker 5: Right, Let's go to Dave and Tennessee. What's up Dave? Hey, Dave, Yeah, well,
- 47:45Speaker 5: I'm clear.
- 47:46Speaker 11: You know, I just think it was his first time
- 47:49Speaker 11: in this position. He had no one to hold his hand.
- 47:51Speaker 11: He's got to get experienced somehow. And uh, you know
- 47:55Speaker 11: that's what your first year is for. You had no
- 47:57Speaker 11: talent to work with, and it's like, we're just gonna
- 47:59Speaker 11: run this study out of town.
- 48:00Speaker 9: You know. It's like I thought Matt Patricia was going
- 48:04Speaker 9: to be.
- 48:04Speaker 11: A good OC.
- 48:07Speaker 1: I was with you, you were you were a cast
- 48:09Speaker 1: of two, Dave.
- 48:11Speaker 5: I was with you.
- 48:11Speaker 11: Liked stuff out Matt Patricia, and it's like, but Girodo
- 48:17Speaker 11: just gets the past.
- 48:19Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I don't know what that meant. Okay, so
- 48:26Speaker 5: did he did he do a curveball on us at
- 48:28Speaker 5: the end? I don't sounds like we wanted we wanted
- 48:32Speaker 5: to get rid of Patricia.
- 48:34Speaker 1: But yeah, and my thing about Patricia was that I
- 48:37Speaker 1: just never felt like he had any expertise on the
- 48:39Speaker 1: offensive side of the ball. Like, if you wanted to
- 48:41Speaker 1: put him back in a role on defense, fine, but
- 48:45Speaker 1: I didn't. I just didn't understand the move to make
- 48:47Speaker 1: him an offensive coordinators. That makes that a little bit different.
- 48:51Speaker 5: Let's see Jordan is in London.
- 48:54Speaker 6: Hey Jordan, Hello, everybody.
- 48:58Speaker 5: Hello, Yes we can this is the BBC.
- 49:07Speaker 9: I have a very fast guys.
- 49:11Speaker 4: I think every truly quite.
- 49:17Speaker 5: Holmes, Alan, I can hear you, but I don't Okay,
- 49:31Speaker 5: I didn't quite. We didn't quite catch heard all.
- 49:33Speaker 1: The names of the quarterback. That's what it sounds like.
- 49:39Speaker 1: You're driving, you guys, drive on the wrong side over there.
- 49:44Speaker 1: You need to pay attention.
- 49:45Speaker 5: Yeah, are you buy Harrod's? Can you pick me up
- 49:51Speaker 5: some tea? I'm sorry, Joan.
- 49:54Speaker 1: When we're having a hard time understanding you because of
- 49:57Speaker 1: the speaker, Yeah, I think.
- 49:59Speaker 5: You're cutting in and out. I think good to hear
- 50:01Speaker 5: from our friends in London are some of our best
- 50:04Speaker 5: fans ever.
- 50:05Speaker 7: Yeah, when you're not driving, email us what you said.
- 50:08Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, you can do voice voice voice, voice to
- 50:12Speaker 5: voice to text. Scott san Diego writes, in at podcasts
- 50:16Speaker 5: at Patriots dot com. Thanks for the much needed football
- 50:19Speaker 5: therapy this season. I even enjoyed the secuitous Paul Fred
- 50:24Speaker 5: what are we arguing about? Arguments? I see that ESPN's
- 50:28Speaker 5: Bill Barnwell pick Gonzo is one of the top three
- 50:31Speaker 5: cornerbacks in the NFL. That seems right to me. But
- 50:33Speaker 5: he wasn't picked for the Pro Bowl. Do you think
- 50:35Speaker 5: he deserves to be selected?
- 50:37Speaker 1: Absolutely?
- 50:38Speaker 8: Yeah he does. But I mean, I who got selected
- 50:41Speaker 8: from the AFC, Nobody from Miami.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Nobody from the Jets, Marlon Humphrey, Patrick Sirtan, Denzel Ward Ward. Yeah,
- 50:55Speaker 1: that's what I can't think of what the other one
- 50:58Speaker 1: I would have put Gonzales over Marlon Humphrey. Marlin Huffy
- 51:01Speaker 1: is a terrific player, but I don't think he's had
- 51:03Speaker 1: a great year.
- 51:04Speaker 8: It feels like the Pro Bowl usual Stan.
- 51:06Speaker 1: I think is arguably better than Gonzales. Denzel Ward I
- 51:11Speaker 1: think has been hurt too. Like I like him as
- 51:13Speaker 1: a player, he seems like he's in and out of
- 51:14Speaker 1: the one.
- 51:14Speaker 8: With the young players Pro Bowls a year behind, like
- 51:17Speaker 8: you have your breakout year, like kind of almost I
- 51:19Speaker 8: mean almost like schooler last year, you know, like kind
- 51:21Speaker 8: of had that pump block last year, like kind of
- 51:23Speaker 8: made a name for himself a little bit, and you know,
- 51:25Speaker 8: fans get to recognize you and then the rest of
- 51:27Speaker 8: the league two and I'm sure I bet you Conto
- 51:30Speaker 8: makes it next year. He definitely deserves it.
- 51:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I think you're absolutely right. I think it's what
- 51:35Speaker 5: you did the year before. Because the Pro Bowl voting
- 51:37Speaker 5: when did they have it?
- 51:38Speaker 8: Oh yeah, so it starts like middle of the seasons.
- 51:40Speaker 5: Yeah, so it's like, yeah, how much are you paying
- 51:43Speaker 5: attention to like every other player in the league while
- 51:46Speaker 5: the season is going on?
- 51:47Speaker 1: You know.
- 51:48Speaker 5: Anyway, So he'll get in next year along with Travis Hunter. Uh.
- 51:53Speaker 1: Fred Sauce Gardner didn't get in in maybe he bounces
- 51:57Speaker 1: back and it's another guy in your wife.
- 51:59Speaker 5: Yeah, he didn't have he didn't have a good He
- 52:00Speaker 5: didn't have a good true, Fred, which team would you
- 52:03Speaker 5: want to win the Super Bowl? Between the Bengals, Bills,
- 52:06Speaker 5: are Jets? You have to choose one. That's a tough one.
- 52:12Speaker 8: I got those.
- 52:13Speaker 5: That's a tough one. Who would I pick?
- 52:15Speaker 1: It's an easy one for me, Bills.
- 52:18Speaker 5: Mine would be the Jets.
- 52:20Speaker 9: Wow.
- 52:21Speaker 8: Yeah, Well you used to like him.
- 52:22Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, I know, I just can't. I can't stomach Yeah,
- 52:28Speaker 5: I can't stomach the Bengals winning and the Bills, Like
- 52:31Speaker 5: I said, it would be against nature for them to wait.
- 52:34Speaker 8: I get this, since he I do, I do really like.
- 52:36Speaker 5: Yeah, the Jets are such a sorry franchise now.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Is a personal thing. So I get that. But Buffalo,
- 52:41Speaker 1: I think Buffalo be cool like nothing. But people, well
- 52:45Speaker 1: that's the thing.
- 52:46Speaker 5: But now if they win, now they can say, yeah,
- 52:48Speaker 5: we won. Up until now we can say what if
- 52:50Speaker 5: you want?
- 52:51Speaker 1: And I want to be able to keep for people
- 52:54Speaker 1: to get fired.
- 52:54Speaker 5: I need to keep that card in my dead I
- 52:58Speaker 5: need to keep that card in my deck. I can't
- 53:01Speaker 5: lose it.
- 53:01Speaker 1: I keep that card in my boom. Shut up.
- 53:06Speaker 5: Question for the group, who do we like for defensive coordinator?
- 53:09Speaker 5: I'm sure we will move from Covington after the season.
- 53:12Speaker 5: Would you like to see the Crafts bring back Brian Flores?
- 53:15Speaker 8: Well, I mean I don't think that would happen, but sure, yeah,
- 53:19Speaker 8: He's like, I.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Don't ever rule these things out, but Brian Flores is
- 53:23Speaker 1: the defensive coordinator for one of the very best teams
- 53:25Speaker 1: in football. Why would he want to come to be
- 53:28Speaker 1: the defensive coordinator for one of the very worst teams for.
- 53:31Speaker 8: I mean, I think maybody wants to talk about if
- 53:33Speaker 8: Mayor were to go. I mean, it's it's pretty much
- 53:35Speaker 8: what Rabel and the Lions guy, I mean, right like that,
- 53:38Speaker 8: that's it?
- 53:39Speaker 5: Right?
- 53:39Speaker 8: Who else have you heard mentioned? Is like a potential
- 53:42Speaker 8: for a head job for head coach?
- 53:44Speaker 1: Oh, like you know, I start going down the floor.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Is I'm now going to talk about? Now? He wouldn't
- 53:50Speaker 1: be my choice because I don't think he did nearly
- 53:52Speaker 1: as good a job with the Dolphins as people think
- 53:54Speaker 1: he did, and I think he was terrible with a
- 53:56Speaker 1: young quarterback. Now maybe he's learned. Maybe you know, a
- 53:59Speaker 1: lot of guys are much better the second time around.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Maybe he'd have a better relationship with the young quarterback.
- 54:05Speaker 1: But I've heard him, I've heard Rabel, I've heard Ben Johnson.
- 54:08Speaker 8: You know it though, right like there's no one else
- 54:09Speaker 8: that people really know a lot of.
- 54:11Speaker 1: People, Yeah, in terms of clamoring because you want the
- 54:13Speaker 1: offensive guy and right now, you know, would you be
- 54:17Speaker 1: interested in Cliff Kingsbury did a great job in Washington
- 54:21Speaker 1: and year one with a young quarterback with you know,
- 54:23Speaker 1: I think most people didn't feel like he did job
- 54:26Speaker 1: with Arizona.
- 54:28Speaker 5: Brandon in Maine writes in as much as AVP has
- 54:31Speaker 5: struggled at times to develop and improve the Patriots offense, really,
- 54:34Speaker 5: how much better are they than the Matt Patricia year?
- 54:36Speaker 5: I would bring him back for one more year. My
- 54:38Speaker 5: reasoning he has the least amount of talent to work
- 54:41Speaker 5: with in the NFL. We have the worst defensive line
- 54:44Speaker 5: for running or passing by block win rate, I believe,
- 54:47Speaker 5: and the wide receiver room was filled with children, as
- 54:50Speaker 5: evidenced by their continued comments to the social media or
- 54:53Speaker 5: on social media, and Kendrick barn still can't even line
- 54:56Speaker 5: up properly. Drake May has grown and developed, which was
- 54:59Speaker 5: the most important thing to happen for the team in franchise.
- 55:02Speaker 5: He deserves credit for that. Lastly, it feels like he's
- 55:05Speaker 5: the only coach who has truly held himself accountable. His
- 55:09Speaker 5: media sessions actually sound like a professional football coach. Unlike
- 55:12Speaker 5: the other top two coaches on the team. He's the
- 55:15Speaker 5: professional adult in the room where it feels like that
- 55:17Speaker 5: presence has been missing everywhere else. If there is any
- 55:20Speaker 5: one of the three top coaches that I do believe
- 55:23Speaker 5: has the chance to grow and approve next year. It's
- 55:26Speaker 5: him and also deserves the chance to grow and improve
- 55:29Speaker 5: in year two, and that is without considering the improvement
- 55:32Speaker 5: that hopefully takes place with an infusion of talent on
- 55:34Speaker 5: that side of the ball. So there's the yeah, Brandon's
- 55:38Speaker 5: case to keep AVP.
- 55:40Speaker 6: I agree.
- 55:41Speaker 8: I just think that if they make AVP the one
- 55:43Speaker 8: to walk the plank like that is not going to
- 55:45Speaker 8: be received well by a large majority of people.
- 55:49Speaker 7: And it shouldn't be like how if we see him
- 55:53Speaker 7: the one out of everyone to get scapegoated, that gives
- 55:56Speaker 7: me major questions about what's going on.
- 55:58Speaker 1: With I feel like, if you want to make changes,
- 56:01Speaker 1: that makes sense. I don't think that's changes. That's just like,
- 56:04Speaker 1: you know, showing exactly the word that alex Is hues.
- 56:07Speaker 1: It feels like a scapegoat to day.
- 56:08Speaker 7: Yeah, and that point about the receiver room being all children,
- 56:12Speaker 7: I think that's a great point that maybe people haven't looked.
- 56:17Speaker 7: I don't know, I think it's been looked over a little.
- 56:18Speaker 7: But just like the lack of like veteran presence on
- 56:21Speaker 7: the off season, losing David Andrews this season was huge,
- 56:25Speaker 7: the wide receiver room when Kendrick Bourne is your veteran.
- 56:28Speaker 7: We love Kendrick, but like there's just like a little
- 56:32Speaker 7: something missing there and they're so young there, the resolve
- 56:36Speaker 7: just hasn't been there, and those it's really the tight
- 56:39Speaker 7: end room. You have those two guys that are veterans
- 56:42Speaker 7: that have been in the league a long time, and
- 56:44Speaker 7: I think that's why the tight end room is so solid,
- 56:46Speaker 7: and we just didn't have that with the receiver room.
- 56:48Speaker 8: Yeah, Born had to have one today. They were asking me,
- 56:51Speaker 8: you know, what do you want to work on on
- 56:52Speaker 8: the off season, and so in my brain, I'm like,
- 56:53Speaker 8: you know, just being mentally on it. And then when
- 56:55Speaker 8: the playbook and stuff's like catching more deep balls. You know,
- 56:58Speaker 8: it's a little hard to practice in the off season
- 57:00Speaker 8: because you don't have the quarterback, but you know, tracking
- 57:02Speaker 8: the ball, and you know, again that's what he wanted
- 57:04Speaker 8: to work on.
- 57:05Speaker 5: So, yeah, what it was, what did you think of
- 57:07Speaker 5: the Penn State quarterback?
- 57:10Speaker 1: So now this is an interesting one for the previous
- 57:12Speaker 1: email before Mike got here about the class. Yeah, a
- 57:15Speaker 1: lot of people think he would be a top ten pick,
- 57:18Speaker 1: but he has already said he's going back to Penn State. Yeah,
- 57:22Speaker 1: a lot of the quote unquote experts think that they're
- 57:24Speaker 1: still room for him to change his mind. It's not
- 57:27Speaker 1: like it's a binding moment. You know that he can't.
- 57:30Speaker 1: He can't change his mind and make himself eligible for
- 57:34Speaker 1: the draft. I don't love him, but he's got an arm.
- 57:38Speaker 1: Like these guys talk about him like he would be
- 57:41Speaker 1: a top ten picks and that that would help the Patriots.
- 57:43Speaker 1: That would put three guys in the mix. And is
- 57:46Speaker 1: there tight end in the draft. Yeah, he's unbelievable. Yeah,
- 57:50Speaker 1: I mean yeah, yeah, Tyler Warren, Yeah, he's so So
- 57:55Speaker 1: here's a good example, Fred, you can have scatterable in
- 57:57Speaker 1: the back of your envelope. Tyler Warren is considered to
- 58:00Speaker 1: be an excellent player, and he's unbelievably versatil least like
- 58:05Speaker 1: he's played quarterbacks. He's snapped the ball on a touchdown catch,
- 58:10Speaker 1: He's actually snapped the ball on a play. He does
- 58:13Speaker 1: a lot of different things for that team. He's a
- 58:15Speaker 1: good player.
- 58:15Speaker 5: Yeah, Dan and.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Everett, you know Dan, I know some Dan's and effort.
- 58:20Speaker 5: Yeah. In regards to the draft, given all the needs
- 58:23Speaker 5: this team has, my opinion of who I want to
- 58:26Speaker 5: draft probably changes daily today I'm leaning towards edge. My
- 58:31Speaker 5: understanding is that Abdul Carter is the top rated prospect.
- 58:33Speaker 5: Does he have the potential to be a game wrecker
- 58:35Speaker 5: at the position? I love the idea of trying to
- 58:38Speaker 5: get out to early leads to force teams into throwing
- 58:41Speaker 5: more so that the pass rush can tee off.
- 58:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:45Speaker 5: Unfortunately he didn't get a chance to really play this
- 58:47Speaker 5: week yesterday because he got hurt or two days ago.
- 58:51Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, he didn't.
- 58:52Speaker 5: Play the game. But I guess up until the point
- 58:54Speaker 5: he got hurt, he was.
- 58:56Speaker 1: He's a great player.
- 58:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 58:57Speaker 8: I mean, following Evan on Twitter, it seems like Evan's
- 58:58Speaker 8: coming around on him a little bit over the last
- 59:00Speaker 8: couple of days. But I mean, I just you got
- 59:02Speaker 8: to acknowledge the need at edge, and I think you know,
- 59:04Speaker 8: I mean, we talked about it on the show on Tuesday.
- 59:07Speaker 8: It's a huge need. Like I mean, you just you
- 59:08Speaker 8: talk about the key positions. They looks like they got
- 59:11Speaker 8: quarterback in cornerback for now to like kind of start
- 59:13Speaker 8: with left tackle, wide receiver, defensive end, a legit pass rusher,
- 59:17Speaker 8: somebody off the edge. And I mean, I don't know
- 59:19Speaker 8: if he's the three down guy, But he moves like crazy.
- 59:22Speaker 8: I mean, he's just super athlete, super explosive. He's a
- 59:25Speaker 8: problem for anybody, you know, and you just hope is
- 59:28Speaker 8: like a former off the ball guy that you know
- 59:29Speaker 8: he can round his game out and can bring But
- 59:31Speaker 8: I mean, you know, it's the game's one on third down,
- 59:34Speaker 8: So I think there's something definitely to consider with him.
- 59:37Speaker 5: Let's see, who is this ed right sin from Tallahassee.
- 59:42Speaker 5: Where did the Patriots begin to create an identity? Is
- 59:45Speaker 5: it a defensive ID or an offensive ID? The most
- 59:49Speaker 5: ominous thing that happened in twenty twenty four is that
- 59:51Speaker 5: the Patriots D has regressed. We don't challenge either on
- 59:55Speaker 5: the road or at home for twenty twenty five. I
- 59:58Speaker 5: think we first have to lean into building a defense
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: that can compete in the AFC East. And that is
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: as good a reason to draft Travis Hunter number one
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: as any yeah can.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: I've exhausted my thoughts on the defense regression of the D.
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: If you had to rate twenty twenty four biggest surprise
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: with the Patriots, wouldn't the regression of the defense be
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: one of them?
- 1:00:23Speaker 8: I would say more of the collapse of the defense
- 1:00:25Speaker 8: of just or whatever, the bottom of the league. I mean,
- 1:00:27Speaker 8: you know that it was that bad, you know, I'm
- 1:00:29Speaker 8: sure you know. I mean we can debate how good
- 1:00:31Speaker 8: or bad they were. Maybe you say they're middle. Even
- 1:00:33Speaker 8: if you said they were middle of league. They're the
- 1:00:34Speaker 8: worst defense in the league this year, I mean they
- 1:00:35Speaker 8: are bottom.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: Maybe everything, maybe run defense in particular. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: but if you also said that, you know, barb More
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: and Judon are not going to be part of it.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: I think people just sort of overlooked that, Like the
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: best player on defense because he didn't play the last
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: twelve games last year, you know, you trade him. I
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: think it's it's different than losing a guy from injury.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Trading him before the season, I think, and I think
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: it was a good trade. I'm not criticizing the move.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: That's probably the best move Elliot Wolf has made. Is
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: that trade. You're getting a third round pick for a
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: thirty whatever year old edge rusher, I think is a good,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: solid trade.
- 1:01:12Speaker 8: Yep, especially when they losing the two guys you talk
- 1:01:14Speaker 8: are such an important element of the defense. I mean
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: the pass rush. Like you want to talk about, oh
- 1:01:17Speaker 8: we lost you know Godshaw, Let's just say like, yeah, well,
- 1:01:20Speaker 8: figure you hope you can figure out a way to
- 1:01:22Speaker 8: stop the run.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: To Mike's point, going from the middle of the pack
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: to the bottom of the pack. Yeah, that's probably, you know, surprising,
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: like just I have to be honest, Like, to me,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: it's mildly surprising. Okay, they played pretty much all teams
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: that can play this year as opposed to half a scene.
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: So what would you your biggest possibly like.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: The quarterbacks I'm talking about, not necessarily.
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: What would your biggest surprise of twenty twelve.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: I don't know if I was terribly surprised. Maybe the
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: fact that Drake May was able to play the rest
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: of the guy I figured for sure, like young quarterbacks
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: gonna get hit a lot, probably gonna miss time. Maybe that.
- 1:01:57Speaker 8: I mean surprise. I'm not trying to think.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: I mean it sounds terribly negative.
- 1:02:02Speaker 9: Me.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: I'm not overly surprised by anything. And Fred I thought
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: illustrated this in the post game show after the Chargers
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: game when you said, you know, I don't know what
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: people were expecting today.
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I think with the Patriots, other than
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: the defense collapse, I think I was most surprised at
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: the off field performance of girod I like, like, I
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: just like Paul just said, I didn't think the team
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: was gonna be good. Yeah, I like, that doesn't bother me.
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: But I was surprised that off field he was as.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: And how it didn't really change. It never really seemed
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: to improve and get better both on and off the field.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Maybe that part of it, even, you know, like we've
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: talked about Carolina a lot this year, people have talked
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: incessantly about year one of the Dan Campbell era, and
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: in Detroit, we didn't see that here. You know, like
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: most bad teams tend to say, Okay, we're bad, but
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: we're going to get better and we're going to show
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: you some signs that it's not always going to be
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: gloom and doom. We didn't get those.
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: Maybe that's the.
- 1:03:00Speaker 8: Biggest thing too for me, defensively, looking at the coaches
- 1:03:03Speaker 8: they kept and Mayo being a defensive guy and Covington
- 1:03:06Speaker 8: being a guy who's been around, like, you know, I
- 1:03:08Speaker 8: kind of bought into what they told me this summer,
- 1:03:10Speaker 8: which you know, and judea On left and they said, well,
- 1:03:12Speaker 8: you know, we've had years without pass rushers and we've
- 1:03:15Speaker 8: been able to kind of scheme around it and you know,
- 1:03:17Speaker 8: it's probably on me for buying that, but I just
- 1:03:20Speaker 8: didn't see that was the one thing you were kind
- 1:03:22Speaker 8: of hoping and you had to count on, was that
- 1:03:24Speaker 8: you've got some continuity with the defense and that they're
- 1:03:26Speaker 8: going to at least be solid.
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: But we did say in the off season, don't underestimate
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: the loss of Bill Belichick, and see Belichick.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: We did.
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: I mean that there has to be a drop off.
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: I just didn't think it would be so severe.
- 1:03:38Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, that's the thing that surprised everyone. And
- 1:03:40Speaker 7: just like that defensive group had been together for a
- 1:03:43Speaker 7: while with Judaan and then even Lawrence guy who they
- 1:03:47Speaker 7: caught at the end of last year, like who's not
- 1:03:49Speaker 7: a huge piece, but when you put it all.
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: Together, you put it all together, you expected him to
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: come back. But you lose bomb War, you'll lose Bentley
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: up the middle.
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: And then you have this staff that's a lot of
- 1:04:00Speaker 7: Bill guys kind of still remaining. So it's still the
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: you still have those shades of Bill without just that
- 1:04:07Speaker 7: huge gap that you have to make up for in
- 1:04:10Speaker 7: like just institutional knowledge of the NFL, the organization that
- 1:04:14Speaker 7: Steve also accumulated.
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: So this is the part when we talk about who
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: should stay and who should go that you say all
- 1:04:22Speaker 5: these things, Well, they had all these losses and all
- 1:04:26Speaker 5: that stuff. So are we able to fairly judge DeMarcus
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: Covington based on just what we see on Sunday?
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: See, I'm not judging any of the coaches on the
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: actual performance. I'm judging the coaches on the level of preparation,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: the level of adjustments, the level of improvement. And I
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: just didn't see it enough of enough of it on
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: both sides of the ball.
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: No, that's what I'm talking about. Like to your point
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: that we keep getting back to, I think the Vegas
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: over under was four and a half. It was so
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: I don't know how anyone can sit here and be
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: up in arms that they only have three wins.
- 1:05:00Speaker 8: Yeah right, Yeah, But.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: That doesn't necessarily mean that everything was great in terms
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: of the coach. Just because you don't have any talent
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: doesn't mean you can't do things to scheme it up
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: and play better than your talent. And I didn't see that.
- 1:05:14Speaker 8: No, that's totally apt, And you know, I think that's
- 1:05:17Speaker 8: what I said on one of the other shows, was
- 1:05:18Speaker 8: like there is a mental shift for me for thinking like, well,
- 1:05:21Speaker 8: maybe they can win six too. They're winning three, and
- 1:05:23Speaker 8: how did he get to three?
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: I can pretty much identify the time because there were
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: days that that Mike was when you guys were on
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: the road and I'm left to pick up the pieces
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: by myself.
- 1:05:33Speaker 8: Don't do it, Mike, don't do it.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: There are some dark days for Deuce.
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: As one email is said on Tuesday, a lot of sentences,
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: I just feel like I just I just feel like, yeah, yeah, watch.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: You think they've got to do something with the draft
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: eligibility rule there. You know, like you have like Jeremiah
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: Smith and Ryan Williams who will be starting for how
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: many teams? Right if they were eligible?
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: Is that the seventeen year.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Old Yeah, he's at Alabama. Jeremiah Smith just absolutely dominated
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: the game yesterday. He just turned nineteen. But they're not
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: eligible for the drafty they just start, Oh my god,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: they'd start for half the teams.
- 1:06:17Speaker 5: So you know, you talk about that in going back
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: to this Penn State quarterback, maybe when you know the
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: businesses is vision is to declare for the draft because
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: you can say, oh, he's going to stay in because
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: he's going to make a boatload with n I l
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: but if there's a week a year to be the quarterback,
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: this might be the year.
- 1:06:35Speaker 8: Right, you know some of the consider I mean, I've
- 1:06:38Speaker 8: only seen a little bit of him, but it seems like, uh,
- 1:06:40Speaker 8: you know, Paul, you probably watched more of him, But
- 1:06:41Speaker 8: it seems like he's pretty efficient and pretty safe with
- 1:06:44Speaker 8: the ball generally.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: That's let's I think.
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: He's got a great arm.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: I don't like aler at all.
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: Oh I don't.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: I don't I think that now.
- 1:06:54Speaker 8: That's I mean honest, to be honest, That's why I
- 1:06:56Speaker 8: say it, because.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: That's what happens when he plays teams with the post.
- 1:06:59Speaker 8: That's why I said I thought like he doesn't seem.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Like to watch the Ohio State game. Okay, all right,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: all right, I'll trust you.
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: Micking Kirkland in kirk Ireland rights and uh, speaking of
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: which he says, first, Happy New Year. I hope you
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: all enjoyed the holiday season bar a certain Saturday game,
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: Speaking of which I always felt male deserve the second year,
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: as I had fully expected this season to be poor
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: and had not expected a good record similar to you,
- 1:07:28Speaker 5: I felt four to six wins was the best possible. However,
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: this season has turned out to be worse than expected,
- 1:07:35Speaker 5: and I feel that there is no other choice but
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: to move on from Mayo. If Mike Rabel is willing,
- 1:07:40Speaker 5: then let's go. The biggest disappointment is that there has
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: been zero improvement anywhere across the team. Defenses regrets to
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: being no more than a glorified speed bump for good teams,
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: and the offense rarely sustains drives and are easy to defend.
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: I believe a new start is required, and in my opinion,
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: the only thing worse for Drake May's development and getting
- 1:07:59Speaker 5: rid of a coach in its first season is getting
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: rid of a coach in his second season and thus
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: impacting two years of his development.
- 1:08:08Speaker 8: It's been an interesting lesson. Like I think I've said
- 1:08:10Speaker 8: it before in the show, like I always felt like
- 1:08:11Speaker 8: some of the AFC's teams maybe we're a little bit
- 1:08:13Speaker 8: too quick to pull the trigger on some of their
- 1:08:15Speaker 8: coach quarterback combinations. Over the twenty years, the Patriots were
- 1:08:18Speaker 8: just whacking everybody. But now being on this side of it,
- 1:08:21Speaker 8: you realize how hard it is, how hard it is
- 1:08:23Speaker 8: to have a bad season in and then try to
- 1:08:26Speaker 8: sell your fan base and the media on why you're
- 1:08:30Speaker 8: gonna keep the guy around even if you know, even
- 1:08:33Speaker 8: if you are taking a patient approach, it's just you
- 1:08:35Speaker 8: feel the pressure. I've said it a few times, is
- 1:08:37Speaker 8: like every week you lose, it gets harder and worse,
- 1:08:40Speaker 8: and the bad energy just continues to mount. And then
- 1:08:43Speaker 8: you win like that one game and it's like, oh
- 1:08:45Speaker 8: my god, thank god, we want a.
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: Game like for a week.
- 1:08:48Speaker 8: We get a little bit of like you know, reprieve
- 1:08:50Speaker 8: from this, but it's it's really hard, and I think
- 1:08:52Speaker 8: I understand things a little bit better from those other
- 1:08:54Speaker 8: teams perspective on why. It's like, all right, we got
- 1:08:57Speaker 8: to move you know Rex Ryan, Yeah he was got
- 1:08:59Speaker 8: as close for a couple of years, but we can't
- 1:09:00Speaker 8: do this anymore. We got to move on. So I
- 1:09:03Speaker 8: just it's new perspective for sure, being on the side
- 1:09:05Speaker 8: of it.
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: All right, we'll take a break. When we come back,
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: more calls and emails. Evanably back, we'll hear what he
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: has to say from practice, and then we'll get into
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: picks right after this.

- 1:10:19Speaker 14: Before I start, I'll just found out, you know what's
- 1:10:21Speaker 14: going on sit at New Orleans. Just want to make
- 1:10:24Speaker 14: sure that offer condolences to all those that are affected. Obviously,
- 1:10:28Speaker 14: it's a very unfortunate thing that happened. Kind of puts
- 1:10:32Speaker 14: things in perspective, you know, lives being changed like that,
- 1:10:34Speaker 14: and just want them to know that both me, the team,
- 1:10:38Speaker 14: and the organization definitely offer our heartfelt condolences. All right,
- 1:10:43Speaker 14: So you know, this game looks the last game of
- 1:10:46Speaker 14: the season, and you know the guy, you know, my
- 1:10:48Speaker 14: message to the guys was, we want to finish off
- 1:10:50Speaker 14: the season strong, you know, and try to build some
- 1:10:52Speaker 14: momentum going into the offseason. I would say, you know,
- 1:10:57Speaker 14: the guys are they're ready to go, They're ready to go.
- 1:10:59Speaker 14: We'll see how practice goes today. Obviously, I'm sure the
- 1:11:03Speaker 14: question will come up, you know, do you want to
- 1:11:04Speaker 14: see certain players like? Absolutely? And I would say if
- 1:11:07Speaker 14: players are healthy, they'll be ready to go. Now as
- 1:11:09Speaker 14: far as you know how much they play, how much
- 1:11:11Speaker 14: they don't like. I've never been a part of a
- 1:11:14Speaker 14: team as a player or as a coach going into
- 1:11:16Speaker 14: a game not wanting to win, and it's not going
- 1:11:17Speaker 14: to change today. So uh, that's that's my message to
- 1:11:20Speaker 14: the team.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Prob what can you tell us about the conditions Drake?
- 1:11:23Speaker 14: And also you expect him to start on You're going
- 1:11:27Speaker 14: to talk to Drake here in a second. Drake's healthy,
- 1:11:29Speaker 14: He'll be up practice today and we'll see how it
- 1:11:31Speaker 14: goes this week.
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: You're another guy who left the Saturday.
- 1:11:36Speaker 14: He's still in the protocols, so I'm not gonna I
- 1:11:40Speaker 14: don't want to get too far down that line.
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: We'll see how it goes this week.
- 1:11:44Speaker 9: Referring to Drake, what factors will be at play when
- 1:11:48Speaker 9: deciding whether he starts Sunday.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: Yeah, my thing.
- 1:11:51Speaker 14: You know if you talk to Drake, but you will
- 1:11:52Speaker 14: hear soon if he's a competitor, he wants to play,
- 1:11:55Speaker 14: and look, he's still developing, so he'll be ready to go.
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: So if he wants to play, will he start.
- 1:12:01Speaker 14: Drake is our starting quarterback if he's healthy and ready
- 1:12:04Speaker 14: to go as we go through this week of practice,
- 1:12:06Speaker 14: and he'll play.
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: Grog.
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: You said that you want to make sure that you're
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: winning the game, but also mentioned earlier that you want
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: young players to get opportunities. How much of an opportunity
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: is this game to get those guys more chances?
- 1:12:16Speaker 14: Yeah, we'll have to see how the game goes.
- 1:12:19Speaker 4: Yes, yes, we went into that decision trying.
- 1:12:24Speaker 14: To give a veteran player, which you in over you
- 1:12:26Speaker 14: know it's not just Yannick, but give him an opportunity
- 1:12:29Speaker 14: to catch on with the team that will be in
- 1:12:30Speaker 14: the postseason. What about just about He's did a great job.
- 1:12:34Speaker 14: He was great in the meeting rooms, he was you know,
- 1:12:36Speaker 14: great out there in the practice field, a veteran that
- 1:12:39Speaker 14: brought a lot to the table. And wish him nothing
- 1:12:40Speaker 14: but the best.
- 1:12:41Speaker 15: What about Rod For a guy like Drake, you've made
- 1:12:43Speaker 15: it this far in the season, there's one game left.
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: What about the risk of injury now with just.
- 1:12:48Speaker 6: This one game?
- 1:12:49Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean that's that's any position. I know oftentimes
- 1:12:52Speaker 14: we focus on the quarterback spot, but that's part of
- 1:12:54Speaker 14: playing football.
- 1:12:55Speaker 9: That's saying that the team.
- 1:12:58Speaker 16: Because you weren't over here, everyone.
- 1:13:03Speaker 14: Else the team, look the team. Everyone that's healthy will
- 1:13:06Speaker 14: be ready to play and are expected to play.
- 1:13:09Speaker 4: You know, I think it was one of you dress
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: you get Yeah, sure did you getting some time.
- 1:13:17Speaker 15: With him?
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: I know you know what's happening with with Kobe.
- 1:13:19Speaker 9: But.
- 1:13:21Speaker 14: I would say it's still all up in there, all
- 1:13:24Speaker 14: three quarterbacks as we've carried two, and the emergency quarterback
- 1:13:27Speaker 14: will be ready to go.
- 1:13:28Speaker 16: You what have you seen from do since you've gone
- 1:13:31Speaker 16: in the building and here goly mad.
- 1:13:33Speaker 14: To Twitter is Yeah, just you know, I think you know,
- 1:13:36Speaker 14: his ability to read coverages has definitely improved. Look, he
- 1:13:40Speaker 14: has all the physical tools. I would say the commander
- 1:13:42Speaker 14: of the huddle has also improved, and he's done a
- 1:13:44Speaker 14: good job on the show teams throughout the week.
- 1:13:45Speaker 16: So you talk about laying a foundation, which portions of
- 1:13:50Speaker 16: the foundation do you feel our most solidly laid so
- 1:13:55Speaker 16: far in terms of from last January to.
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: A year later.
- 1:14:00Speaker 14: I'm not going to get into, like, you know, the
- 1:14:01Speaker 14: different position groups, but I would think that we offer.
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: I mean cultural room.
- 1:14:07Speaker 14: Yeah, yeah, going back to look, these guys have come
- 1:14:09Speaker 14: in here every week, and I know our record is
- 1:14:10Speaker 14: what it is, but they come in here every single
- 1:14:12Speaker 14: week during the hard season, ready to work, going out
- 1:14:15Speaker 14: there trying to get better, and I think that's huge.
- 1:14:16Speaker 14: That's part of it.
- 1:14:18Speaker 9: What if you've learned about Drake to this point and
- 1:14:22Speaker 9: what more.
- 1:14:23Speaker 14: Could you learn from I feel like we, you know,
- 1:14:26Speaker 14: we talk about this often. I would just say his
- 1:14:28Speaker 14: ability to change the page and learn from his mistakes.
- 1:14:31Speaker 15: Any reflections on this being the last week of the
- 1:14:34Speaker 15: season and just what this journey has been like for
- 1:14:36Speaker 15: you so far.
- 1:14:37Speaker 14: Yeah, I think it's important to remember where you are
- 1:14:39Speaker 14: in the journey and you know, and no one's happy
- 1:14:42Speaker 14: with our record or anything like that. But understanding where
- 1:14:45Speaker 14: you are in the journey is definitely important.
- 1:14:47Speaker 8: Better a coach are you today when you were for
- 1:14:50Speaker 8: a time?
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: Did you do this process for me?
- 1:14:54Speaker 14: Like you know, first year doing anything, they are going
- 1:14:56Speaker 14: to be growing pains and things like that, and you
- 1:14:58Speaker 14: have to you have to learn from those mistakes and
- 1:15:00Speaker 14: move forward and do the things that you did well
- 1:15:02Speaker 14: early in the season and carry them over to the
- 1:15:04Speaker 14: next season.
- 1:15:05Speaker 7: Stan Campbell before when doing something about the blob stays
- 1:15:08Speaker 7: time to see you here first year, what stands out
- 1:15:10Speaker 7: to you about how the people to trainees.
- 1:15:12Speaker 14: Have Well, you know it takes time, but I would say,
- 1:15:14Speaker 14: you know, you look at those guys now both from
- 1:15:16Speaker 14: a roster and a coaching perspective, like from his first
- 1:15:18Speaker 14: year to a second year to his third year, all
- 1:15:20Speaker 14: those things there was change and you know he got
- 1:15:22Speaker 14: it nailed down and those guys are playing well. And
- 1:15:24Speaker 14: you know there are other examp about the you know,
- 1:15:26Speaker 14: other examples, but you know right now, I'm focused on
- 1:15:29Speaker 14: the bills for the most part, and that's what we're
- 1:15:31Speaker 14: going to do.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: What you said earlier that you know a lot to
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: see how the week goes.
- 1:15:34Speaker 15: Pretty making decisions about forty bucks we will have to
- 1:15:37Speaker 15: happen during the week to change anything from what.
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: You've done the past.
- 1:15:41Speaker 14: I mean, it's it's been this way the whole year.
- 1:15:43Speaker 14: You know, you go out there and have a good
- 1:15:44Speaker 14: week of practice. We're always competing and you have an
- 1:15:46Speaker 14: opportunity in the game and it's not about how many
- 1:15:48Speaker 14: snaps you play again, to me, it's the value and
- 1:15:50Speaker 14: the quality of those snaps that are the most important
- 1:15:52Speaker 14: thing as we evaluate.
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: What have you learned about yourself this year?
- 1:15:56Speaker 14: To be a serious this is the same question, you know,
- 1:16:02Speaker 14: just being resilient. You know, just trying to be resilient
- 1:16:04Speaker 14: hasn't gone the way that any of us have wanted
- 1:16:06Speaker 14: to go. And it's a huge, huge, huge piece of it.
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:16:09Speaker 14: Steve Jobs, I think you know, he had a quote
- 1:16:11Speaker 14: where you have winning seasons or winning years and then
- 1:16:14Speaker 14: you have character building years, and this has been one
- 1:16:16Speaker 14: of those character building years that I'll always remember.
- 1:16:20Speaker 16: And you said, I'm sorry that you hear the fans
- 1:16:22Speaker 16: in the chance does that affect you know?
- 1:16:25Speaker 14: For me, it's all about the guys in the locker room.
- 1:16:27Speaker 14: And look, they're they're disappointed in the record. I understand that.
- 1:16:30Speaker 14: And look, even with you guys in the media. I
- 1:16:32Speaker 14: understand what your job is, and that's okay. My thing is,
- 1:16:35Speaker 14: it's always about the team and it's about winning football games.
- 1:16:38Speaker 15: Were you concerned or worried about that this could be
- 1:16:40Speaker 15: your last game on Sundays?
- 1:16:41Speaker 14: For me, it's all about just focusing on the Bills,
- 1:16:43Speaker 14: trying to win that game.
- 1:16:44Speaker 16: How much work if you have to do on the
- 1:16:46Speaker 16: Bills are considering you played them just two weeks ago?
- 1:16:48Speaker 14: Yeah, I mean, look, you always want to prepare as
- 1:16:51Speaker 14: if it's the first time you played them. Look, we
- 1:16:53Speaker 14: know those guys, and you know you go back and
- 1:16:55Speaker 14: look at that game the first half versus the second half,
- 1:16:57Speaker 14: and you know we were in it for quite some
- 1:16:59Speaker 14: time until the second half. It was just it got
- 1:17:01Speaker 14: out of control. So definitely still doing all of our homework.
- 1:17:04Speaker 14: We're still game planning, approaching it like a like a
- 1:17:07Speaker 14: normal week.
- 1:17:08Speaker 11: Last cool leagues have Elliott already went an ownership heavy
- 1:17:11Speaker 11: input on the approach when it comes to who will
- 1:17:14Speaker 11: play Sunday.
- 1:17:16Speaker 14: I'm look, I'm in constant communication with Elliott. I'm in
- 1:17:18Speaker 14: constant communication with ownership. And again, I've never been a
- 1:17:21Speaker 14: part of a team as a player, or a coach
- 1:17:23Speaker 14: where we haven't gone out there and try to win
- 1:17:25Speaker 14: the game. So it's those conversations haven't happened.
- 1:17:33Speaker 8: When you're trying to figure out why these are going wrong?
- 1:17:36Speaker 7: How do you purse through what's the result of coaching,
- 1:17:39Speaker 7: player execution, talent?
- 1:17:41Speaker 14: Yeah, that's that's part of it. Like you have to
- 1:17:43Speaker 14: evaluate everything. You have to evaluate the different processes throughout
- 1:17:46Speaker 14: the week. You have to evaluate the coaches that have
- 1:17:48Speaker 14: to evaluate myself and have others evaluate me. It's everyone's
- 1:17:51Speaker 14: under look. When you have a season like this, you
- 1:17:53Speaker 14: got to evaluate everything, all right, appreciate it happening.
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: To year.
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: And now great moments in.
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: History.
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: And Steve wants to know why, Eric, do you hate emailers?
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: Does hate everybody?
- 1:18:10Speaker 8: I hate bad emailers?
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: See it doesn't like the weather. Ye see it's raining
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: makes Eric boy. I have to admit now the fact
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: that I had to put jeans on this morning really
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: got me mad. It's like August and I'm went long
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: pants staring at the khaki shorts of SoC not today.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: Good thing I warn't too it was cold.
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: And Paul wears mom jeans.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: By the way, my jeans are like school. They're so
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: old yeah, and there's so warm acid washed rip jeans.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: They're not even acid washed. They just look at they're
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: like bottom.
- 1:18:39Speaker 17: You don't have like the like belot shut up.
- 1:18:43Speaker 8: I thought he was gonna wear like tight tape.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: That would be I don't do. I don't do the
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: euro jeans for obvious reasons.
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: That's another great moment from.
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: Mark Chado writes in giving Fred's view on try hard
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: guys and wanting them on the team. How on earth
- 1:19:01Speaker 5: did Eric survive for so long working as party good question.
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: He wouldn't and couldn't run through a tissue paper wall,
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: let alone a real one.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: So that's I just thought.
- 1:19:12Speaker 5: I said, let's get right into it. No, No, somebody's back.
- 1:19:24Speaker 8: Last one last.
- 1:19:33Speaker 6: All right, Eric, you're back, Evan. I'm having some teary
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: eye moments. Do I call you Eric every once a like,
- 1:19:45Speaker 6: like once every three weeks. You need to correct me,
- 1:19:51Speaker 6: you know, I I understand that you know my name. Okay,
- 1:19:57Speaker 6: this is sad. Thanks for making me sad, though, dude said,
- 1:20:00Speaker 6: this is the last time I will return to practice
- 1:20:03Speaker 6: from practice of the year, so that's that's upsetting. Anyways,
- 1:20:07Speaker 6: Kishon Boody returned to practice. He was back today with
- 1:20:11Speaker 6: that illness, so he's, uh, he looks like he will
- 1:20:14Speaker 6: be all right. And Christian Gonzalez, Ben Brown, and Jalen
- 1:20:18Speaker 6: polk remained absent, so polkan is with the shoulder and
- 1:20:22Speaker 6: then Gonzales and Brown are both in concussion protocol. So
- 1:20:25Speaker 6: looking like another cold, strange game. And I would say,
- 1:20:27Speaker 6: looking like no Gonzo the finale.
- 1:20:30Speaker 5: On And was there any noticeable splint rap on Drake
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: May's right throwing hand.
- 1:20:36Speaker 6: There was not, And we got a pretty good look
- 1:20:38Speaker 6: at it based off of where we were at practice,
- 1:20:41Speaker 6: and they were doing a drill trying to throw the
- 1:20:44Speaker 6: ball out quickly to the screen outside on the perimeter,
- 1:20:47Speaker 6: and they they were doing it pretty uh you know,
- 1:20:50Speaker 6: slight of hand type of stuff.
- 1:20:51Speaker 17: And he looked, fine, Okay, is there a hand injury?
- 1:20:53Speaker 17: I missed something that finger injury. It's technically a hand
- 1:20:58Speaker 17: on the injury rap sheet said fingers.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: I mean that was the whole reason why I went
- 1:21:06Speaker 5: into today thinking, well, maybe he won't play. Yeah, you know,
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: let's see what else is going on. There's very windy
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: out there. It was very windy, and do we think
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: it's going to be windy on game day? So was
- 1:21:18Speaker 5: this something that they could, you know, practice in and
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: use to their advantage.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: It's a good point, cool the reason to play Drake May.
- 1:21:26Speaker 6: It was incredibly windy out there, and I just find
- 1:21:31Speaker 6: it to be very windy back there where the practice
- 1:21:34Speaker 6: fields are in general, Like I feel like every once
- 1:21:36Speaker 6: the weather turns to winter, it's always like a wind
- 1:21:39Speaker 6: tunnel back there. And I don't know about the weather
- 1:21:44Speaker 6: on Sunday, did not check, but it was definitely a
- 1:21:47Speaker 6: weather impacted practice there today.
- 1:21:51Speaker 5: Goal post moving.
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it was kind of arguing with you. Yeah, post
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: moving old. That's that's old me. Sorry, that was just
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: a snarky little It's fine, it's fine.
- 1:22:07Speaker 6: What happened when I was gone.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: One of my outs is I'm no longer going to
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: get in petty arguments with Fred.
- 1:22:14Speaker 7: No, that's never We're looking at thirty degrees.
- 1:22:17Speaker 6: Yeah, it looks like it's going to be cold, but
- 1:22:19Speaker 6: not overly at least sunny today.
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: Yeah, so, I mean we've had it was warm and rainy,
- 1:22:24Speaker 5: and then the wind started and it blew in this
- 1:22:27Speaker 5: cold air from the north.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: Yeah, gonna sit here for a while. It's gonna be
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: pretty cold on Sunday.
- 1:22:32Speaker 5: Yeah, but no precipitation.
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: I don't know, is that the word.
- 1:22:35Speaker 5: I don't think.
- 1:22:36Speaker 6: It looks like just cold.
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: I wouldn't mind if we got it like a little snow,
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: as long as it wasn't like we couldn't travel.
- 1:22:41Speaker 5: I started up my snow blower. It started up fine.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: So that means because I was sorry, that's a good point.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: I was talking to Mike about that. Like last year,
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: you know, they were they gave like that snow game
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: even though this had nothing, you know, Patriots, Jet's last
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: game and the year just playing out the string, but
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: the snow kind of gave you a reason. It's always
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: fun to kind of watch a snow game.
- 1:23:03Speaker 8: Yeap, Yeah, is it?
- 1:23:06Speaker 5: You know in theory everybody loves I don't know game.
- 1:23:10Speaker 8: I don't love heard that.
- 1:23:12Speaker 7: I don't like snow games. But we had last week
- 1:23:16Speaker 7: just cold and wet.
- 1:23:17Speaker 6: Yeah, I'd rather it be snow coming.
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: I think last Saturday football. Yeah, so I forty five degrees?
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: What do you want?
- 1:23:24Speaker 5: I was cold, so I assumed maybe.
- 1:23:28Speaker 6: We are definitely we're done with the paths, We're done
- 1:23:31Speaker 6: with pats.
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, and.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: How was the mood.
- 1:23:39Speaker 8: It was?
- 1:23:41Speaker 6: Yeah? You know it was it was typical mood today,
- 1:23:45Speaker 6: typical typical. I think, you know, there's a definitely a
- 1:23:49Speaker 6: sense of last week of school. You know, we're getting
- 1:23:53Speaker 6: to the end all that kind of stuff.
- 1:23:55Speaker 5: But sometimes things break down that last week of school.
- 1:23:58Speaker 5: That's when kids get in trouble, they act up, you know.
- 1:24:02Speaker 5: So I'm thinking mostly of the media. How was the
- 1:24:07Speaker 5: behavior among the scribes?
- 1:24:10Speaker 6: It was, It was pretty normal. Not everybody was there. Again,
- 1:24:13Speaker 6: I think there are some people that still celebrating New
- 1:24:16Speaker 6: Year's out a little bit.
- 1:24:18Speaker 7: I think once you get up there, those hangovers last
- 1:24:20Speaker 7: a couple of days.
- 1:24:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I think we're tapped out a little Okay, a
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: lot of talk about Gone not making the.
- 1:24:25Speaker 6: Pro Bowl a little bit, and you know, he's in
- 1:24:28Speaker 6: concussion protocol so we aren't able to talk to him currently,
- 1:24:32Speaker 6: which is kind of a bummer. But yeah, he a
- 1:24:36Speaker 6: little bit. But I think what the general consensus that
- 1:24:39Speaker 6: we all kind of came to was, you know, the
- 1:24:42Speaker 6: other guys that made it over him have a little
- 1:24:44Speaker 6: bit more brand recognition, have been in the league a
- 1:24:46Speaker 6: little bit longer, so you know, he's gonna have to
- 1:24:50Speaker 6: have some proof of concept here before you're starting to
- 1:24:52Speaker 6: be in the conversations with Pat Sertan and Denzel Ward
- 1:24:56Speaker 6: and you know, guys that have done it for multiple years.
- 1:24:59Speaker 6: So this feels like the foundation has been laid for
- 1:25:02Speaker 6: him to be one of those accolades guys. And now
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: you know next year, if he repeats it, he'll get it.
- 1:25:08Speaker 5: And how many of the ball knowers will be visibly
- 1:25:12Speaker 5: upset if the Patriots win this game?
- 1:25:17Speaker 6: I would say it depends on how far down they
- 1:25:21Speaker 6: go down the draft order. Obviously they can only go
- 1:25:23Speaker 6: down to four, right, but you know, you never know,
- 1:25:25Speaker 6: maybe like the Giants like pull off an upset two
- 1:25:28Speaker 6: or something like that.
- 1:25:29Speaker 5: But let's let's say they end up in like, will
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: they be will there be certain ball knowers very very upset?
- 1:25:34Speaker 6: There'll definitely be certain people very very upset. But the
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: true ball knowers now that in this draft, like it's
- 1:25:40Speaker 6: probably not going to make a major difference. And I
- 1:25:43Speaker 6: understand that we all are hoping and praying that a
- 1:25:46Speaker 6: team is going to send a package for the number
- 1:25:48Speaker 6: one overall pick to draft Shador Sanders or cam Ward,
- 1:25:51Speaker 6: but it just that's not the temperature of the situation
- 1:25:55Speaker 6: right now at the draft, and so you're probably gonna
- 1:25:57Speaker 6: end up drafting the same guy, right, Like, if you're
- 1:26:00Speaker 6: targeting Kelvin Banks, he's you're you're probably gonna end up
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: drafting the met four instead of at one. And at
- 1:26:06Speaker 6: that point, what difference didn't really make.
- 1:26:07Speaker 5: Question for you because we talked about it before you
- 1:26:10Speaker 5: got here. Yeah, this urger No, No, the Penn State
- 1:26:14Speaker 5: quarterback the players, does he go to the top of
- 1:26:18Speaker 5: the heap?
- 1:26:18Speaker 6: No, no, no, No, he's I would say, early day
- 1:26:24Speaker 6: three guy at bet really, so you.
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: Know people are talking about him as being a potential
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: top ten pick. Jesus, I'm not kidding. I heard a
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: guy on yesterday. It was a guy from PFF. It
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: was their college guy who was on EEI, and he
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: said that there's a lot of evaluators that think if
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: he changes his mind, he'd be a top ten pick.
- 1:26:46Speaker 6: That's crazy. If he goes back to school and has
- 1:26:49Speaker 6: a good year next year and really shows improvement, I like,
- 1:26:53Speaker 6: you know that happens like that. I think that there's
- 1:26:55Speaker 6: a skill set there, absolutely, But the way that this
- 1:26:58Speaker 6: draft is being talked about already is driving me crazy. Yeah,
- 1:27:02Speaker 6: just especially for people that you know, it's now unfortunately
- 1:27:08Speaker 6: more interesting to talk about the Patriots draft strategy than
- 1:27:11Speaker 6: it is to talk about the Patriots. So it's just
- 1:27:14Speaker 6: like everybody now needs to be a draft expert because
- 1:27:17Speaker 6: it's the more interesting story to talk about what they're
- 1:27:20Speaker 6: going to do in the draft. And there's been some
- 1:27:23Speaker 6: some questionable takes to say that.
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: And judging from your Twitter account, I'd say you're not
- 1:27:29Speaker 5: a scibedo oh God fan, but.
- 1:27:33Speaker 6: I mean, like it just skivvy. Look, he had a
- 1:27:36Speaker 6: great game yesterday. I thought it was really cool that
- 1:27:38Speaker 6: he won MVP of the game. I thought he was
- 1:27:40Speaker 6: the MVP of the game. So like, good for him.
- 1:27:43Speaker 6: But you know there's some people that didn't even have
- 1:27:46Speaker 6: him in like the top one fifty of this draft,
- 1:27:49Speaker 6: you know a week ago. Now this there will be
- 1:27:52Speaker 6: people that in the league that will love the try,
- 1:27:55Speaker 6: hardness and all that element of it. There will be,
- 1:27:59Speaker 6: but that skill set is tough. I mean, it's one
- 1:28:03Speaker 6: thing to run over a nineteen year old. It's another
- 1:28:04Speaker 6: thing to run over a grun man. You know.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: But he's a big guy, Like he's thick. He's a
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: big guy. He's five eleven, two fifteen, and the thing
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: that I would say about him.
- 1:28:14Speaker 5: Looks bigger than two fifteen.
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: But he doesn't. He doesn't make anyone miss correct. So
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: all of his you know yards, it's all broken tackles,
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: which means very short shelf life. I think he's a
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: tremendous college player. I've been talking about this guy for
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: about two months when he played, when he played am
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: I Wrong's guy. I fell in love with him watching
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: him against BYU. I think one one night on SPN,
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: happen to catch another couple of games. I've never seen
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: a guy so consistently make people just like just fall
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: by his wayside, like they just like bounce off of him.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: He twist, he turns, he just gets every yard. I
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: just think that he's racking up all these touches in college.
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: Now he doesn't get any easy yards five years max.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: Like he's going to take so many hits.
- 1:29:07Speaker 6: My guess is that what's there?
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: I'm telling you go watch this, go watch the watch
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: the Big twelve championship game against Iowa State, and again,
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: Evan's point is a thousand percent. It's a thousand percent right.
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: He's bowling over guys that are playing for Eyewa State.
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: You're not going to do that, you know in the NFL.
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: Like it just doesn't work that way. So I love
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: watching him play. He's absolutely a try hard but he
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: has a lot of ability too, And I just don't
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: know how good he'll be in the NFL.
- 1:29:40Speaker 6: My guess is that he sneaks into the top one
- 1:29:43Speaker 6: hundred because of the character and because of the intangibles.
- 1:29:46Speaker 6: Like some Jim Harbaugh somebody like that is going to
- 1:29:49Speaker 6: just be swooning over this guy.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: He's totally a Jim harb. That's a great call.
- 1:29:54Speaker 6: Like, you know, someone like that will be like, well,
- 1:29:56Speaker 6: we could take them. You know, this guy's more maybe
- 1:29:59Speaker 6: physically gifted than Skataboo. But no one's going to run
- 1:30:02Speaker 6: through a brick wall like this kid, is, right, no.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: One's going to yell at his lineman when they miss
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: a block like this kid will.
- 1:30:06Speaker 6: Yeah, so you play him a full back? I mean,
- 1:30:08Speaker 6: could you mean you could? I don't know if he's
- 1:30:10Speaker 6: done any lead blocking, Like I don't have.
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: To be about two thirty though to be a full back.
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: But to your point, he probably, like you say, he
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: looks like that's just what he's listed at im. I
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: have no idea. I know that they again, I'm on
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: the Scataboo thing here, like I heard this whole thing
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: about how last year he was considered a very selfish player,
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: and the coaches were really on him. They said, you
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: know what you want more? You want to want to
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: maximize your bill. You need to lose weight. You're too
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: heavy and you're not fat, You're not quick enough. You
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: need to get in better shape. And he did. So.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: Maybe that's the whole two fifteen thing, but you know,
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: he kind of isn't necessarily two fifteen anymore.
- 1:30:52Speaker 6: I I just.
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: I just love watching the guy play I do.
- 1:30:58Speaker 8: I have to be.
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: Honest, defense, Why not Patrick Ricart.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: He's throwing up in between plays and like throwing throwing bombs,
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: He's catching bombs. It was unbelievable.
- 1:31:11Speaker 6: It was an unbelievable college game.
- 1:31:13Speaker 5: It was.
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: It was unbelievably fun to watch that game, unfortunately the
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: only one.
- 1:31:17Speaker 8: Yeah, he gets so kind of watching these games only
- 1:31:19Speaker 8: through the NFL lens instead of just watching like, here's
- 1:31:21Speaker 8: a great college kid.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: And that way I look at it. I looked at it.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: There's the purity of it. I was just watching. No, seriously,
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: he just Mike just nailed it, like he's a great
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: college player.
- 1:31:34Speaker 6: Who cares if he's sick.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: But who cares if he doesn't end up being a
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: great pro player. He's a great college player. Christian Laighton.
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: There you go.
- 1:31:41Speaker 8: I mean I get the same thing with some of
- 1:31:42Speaker 8: the high school games that I would watch where it's
- 1:31:44Speaker 8: just like there's a kid on the team. You're like,
- 1:31:45Speaker 8: this guy is awesome. You know, I don't know what
- 1:31:47Speaker 8: you think. Yeah, it's big news. He's going to go
- 1:31:49Speaker 8: to end of college is great, amazing to go play
- 1:31:51Speaker 8: college football.
- 1:31:51Speaker 5: But your school had one of the greatest of all times.
- 1:31:54Speaker 8: Right, Cody lockbowm Gordy Lockbomb roasted like.
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: So did you have to watch Gordy Lockbaum the whole time?
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: It's say he's who cares?
- 1:32:03Speaker 8: He's just a great athlete.
- 1:32:04Speaker 6: And I will say, if there's a strength of this draft,
- 1:32:07Speaker 6: it's the running back class. The running back class is
- 1:32:09Speaker 6: absolutely loaded. So I do think that that hurts him
- 1:32:12Speaker 6: a little bit. Like if it was a weaker running
- 1:32:14Speaker 6: back class, we might be talking about him going a
- 1:32:16Speaker 6: little bit higher. But this running back class goes like
- 1:32:19Speaker 6: probably fifteen deep.
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: So that round to Scataboo get taken in fourth listening
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: be objective four, he's objective question for you, and.
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: We gotta hurry Ashton gent Do you notice his helmet
- 1:32:34Speaker 5: is more like a race car driver, it's got the bottom.
- 1:32:38Speaker 6: I did not notice that, but I didn't. The only
- 1:32:40Speaker 6: one that I did notice was that when he played
- 1:32:42Speaker 6: a real team, didn't look as.
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: Good as we only had one hundred and two yards.
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: Carries and two fumbles.
- 1:32:49Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean when I'm sorry when you're not playing
- 1:32:51Speaker 6: you know State, you know he's a good da.
- 1:32:55Speaker 8: He's the one will need.
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: To Yeah, Midgie, State's good and good in hockey.
- 1:32:59Speaker 6: Interesting, it's not East Carolina.
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: He was pretty good against Oregon. He has good moves,
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: so that the good.
- 1:33:07Speaker 6: The Oregon one is the one game that everybody cites
- 1:33:09Speaker 6: with him. But what did he do? He was great
- 1:33:11Speaker 6: against Oregon. Look at how they did against Ohio State.
- 1:33:14Speaker 5: All right, now it's time for real this time, get
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: into our picks. Paul. What happened last week?
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: And it was winning? All right? Another another strong week
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: for the Crew. Three way tie at the top between
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: Alex Fred and Paul fourteen and two.
- 1:33:35Speaker 6: Off my game this week.
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: Mike thirteen and three and Evan twelve and four.
- 1:33:43Speaker 6: Really good, way, I told you it was really I
- 1:33:45Speaker 6: know I have had off weekend.
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: With the spread Paul twelve and four, Evan eleven and five,
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: Fred and Alex nine and seven, and Mike eight and eight.
- 1:33:55Speaker 8: I fell apart with the spread, So overall.
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: Evan I believe it just has a commanding lead that
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: will not be caught one eighty three and seventy three,
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: followed by Alex at one, seventy eight and seventy eight.
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: Paul won seventy five and eighty one, and Mike and
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: Fred Poopamoji won seventy two and eighty four double poop
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: with the spread. This is a little bit more interesting
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: now Evan has a double crown still one forty eight,
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: one oh three and five and only a one game
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: lead over Ball one forty seven, one oh four and five.
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: In our quest to find out what's more important, ball
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: knowing or analytics. Fred one forty two, one O nine
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: and five. That's another one I promised I would eliminate
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: in the new year. Fred one forty two, one O
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: nine and five, Mike won forty one eleven and five,
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: and Alex Poopamoji one thirty five one sixteen and five.
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: Candl a really good record for everybody. The fact that
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: the JOS person is that much over five hundred.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: And I would be remiss if I did not include
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: the folks. This is your lock of the week pick.
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: Fred wins this week he took Tampa and giving seven
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: and a half and one easily over Carolina. You're now
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: three and five in your block of the week. Okay,
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: I can't be perfect? All right?
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: All right? We start for sure, no Thursday night game,
- 1:35:28Speaker 5: so we start on Saturday with a doubleheader. It starts
- 1:35:32Speaker 5: at four point thirty on ESPN, ABC, ESPN plus, ESPN Deportes.
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: It's the three and thirteen Browns against the eleven and
- 1:35:41Speaker 5: five Ravens.
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: Okay, folks, the Ravens by eighteen.
- 1:35:48Speaker 5: Really, oh lord, assuming they have something to play for?
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: What they have to win the division?
- 1:35:54Speaker 11: Right?
- 1:35:54Speaker 8: Yeah, that's a lot of points.
- 1:35:56Speaker 5: Ravens by eighteen.
- 1:35:57Speaker 8: Yeah, divisional game. Oh man, that's a really hard pick.
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: There's a chance I don't know if this has been
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: named yet, but there's a chance that old friend Bailey
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: Zappi Apps will be the Browns quarter Well.
- 1:36:10Speaker 8: Sometimes that's right, but not today now, I don't know. Man,
- 1:36:13Speaker 8: I'm gonna go with Baltimore. I'll lay the eighteen. That
- 1:36:16Speaker 8: seems crazy, but I think they got something to play
- 1:36:19Speaker 8: for and there they'll play hard.
- 1:36:22Speaker 7: Too many points for me, I'll take the Ravens, but.
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: Yeah, take the eighteen.
- 1:36:31Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm gonna do the same thing as Alex. I.
- 1:36:33Speaker 6: Even though the Ravens do have something to play for,
- 1:36:35Speaker 6: they're in the playoffs, like, it's not like it's a
- 1:36:37Speaker 6: real do or die. So I don't think they totally
- 1:36:40Speaker 6: empty the clip on this one.
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: So I I, this is gonna be strange because you know,
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: I don't think a whole lot of Zappy. But if
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Zappy plays, I would take the points. Yeah, dtr, I'd
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: lay the points. I'm going to say that that Baltimore
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: blows them out in this, I'm gonna take Baltimore.
- 1:36:58Speaker 5: Boltways, the question is like, how early does the game
- 1:37:02Speaker 5: declare itself and if it does, how early do the
- 1:37:06Speaker 5: Ravens take their foot off the pedal? Like if they
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: get a fourteen point lead, did they.
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: Oh that's a good point, that's a good point. Once
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: the game is won, maybe they don't cover because they
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: don't have to.
- 1:37:14Speaker 6: That's my point. That was why.
- 1:37:17Speaker 5: So that's why I'm gonna say the Ravens do not cover.
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: It's not a lock. Can I change that's a swaying?
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: Aren't you can to change?
- 1:37:25Speaker 6: This is?
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: This is a movie. Fred, I don't argue with I
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: take his advice. Now, I don't argue with him anymore.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna Fred just suade me. That's a really good
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: point I'm gonna take at.
- 1:37:38Speaker 6: The same point. And he didn't say it was a
- 1:37:39Speaker 6: good take everybody else, No, I just said that I
- 1:37:44Speaker 6: didn't think they were going to empty the cliff to
- 1:37:46Speaker 6: win this game.
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: Yeah, but you are a ball mo wer, all right. Now.
- 1:37:51Speaker 5: We moved to Saturday night at eight o'clock again, the
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: same line up ESPN, ABC, ESPN plus ESPN Deportes eight
- 1:37:59Speaker 5: and eight Bengals at the ten and six Steelers Cincinnati
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: by two.
- 1:38:05Speaker 8: I like this game. I like it, and I think
- 1:38:08Speaker 8: I'm going to go with the Bengals here. I think
- 1:38:10Speaker 8: Joey Burrow feeling like pittsburghs been falling apart a little bit,
- 1:38:15Speaker 8: and I just feel like Cincinnati just lay it all online,
- 1:38:18Speaker 8: go out there, sling it right. Give me Cincy.
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:38:21Speaker 7: I usually like the Steelers at home to at least cover,
- 1:38:24Speaker 7: but a big enough spread for me, Bengals, Bengals.
- 1:38:29Speaker 6: I'm gonna pick the Steelers in this game. I know
- 1:38:30Speaker 6: they've been playing poorly, but I think that they get
- 1:38:34Speaker 6: back in gear this week. And for the Bengals, you
- 1:38:37Speaker 6: need a lot of things to go right to make
- 1:38:39Speaker 6: the playoffs. I just don't really feel like they're already
- 1:38:42Speaker 6: doing press conferences where it sounds like they are kind
- 1:38:44Speaker 6: of turn the page a little bit. So I'm gonna
- 1:38:47Speaker 6: go Pittsburgh.
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but I will say that Pittsburgh is gonna take
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: the field knowing that they can't move because Baltimore is
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: gonna have won, which I find surprising that they allowed
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: that to happen. The NFL, you guys, you know you
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: and you're ilk Fred that are so worried about the
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: competitive balance of these games that they set it up
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: like this. I'm gonna take Cincinnati both ways because I
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: do agree that Pittsburgh needs to play better, but I'm
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: not sure that they'll be emotionally in it.
- 1:39:15Speaker 5: Yeah. Three weeks ago, I had Mike Tomlin as my
- 1:39:18Speaker 5: coach of the Year, but the way the Steelers have
- 1:39:21Speaker 5: kind of fallen off like I didn't, he hasn't gotten
- 1:39:24Speaker 5: these guys playing the way I thought they would down
- 1:39:27Speaker 5: the stretch. Uh So I'm gonna go with my hated
- 1:39:30Speaker 5: Bengals both ways to win this game. Plus Joe Burrow,
- 1:39:36Speaker 5: I think incredible season. Yeah, and if he has, if
- 1:39:39Speaker 5: he finishes with a big, big game, he could have
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: over forty five hundred yards and over forty touchdowns or
- 1:39:44Speaker 5: something like that, and he'd be one of five players
- 1:39:47Speaker 5: to do that or something like that.
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: Ye.
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: Yeah, So I'm gonna go with Bengals both ways. I
- 1:39:52Speaker 5: think they pilot.
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: Already be in the forties, right ye for a touch
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: something like.
- 1:39:56Speaker 5: That, it's forty five and forty five.
- 1:39:57Speaker 6: Maybe spend a very good quarterback here at.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: The top, I mean when Patrick Mahomes is not a
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: pro bowler.
- 1:40:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:40:05Speaker 5: Sunday at one CBS four and twelve, Panthers at the
- 1:40:08Speaker 5: eight and eight Falcons Bowl.
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: Oh yeah, absolutely, Panthers Falcons Atlanta by eight.
- 1:40:16Speaker 8: Boy takes yikes. I'll take it La at home, but
- 1:40:21Speaker 8: I'm gonna take the points for Carolina Division game. Atlanta's
- 1:40:26Speaker 8: still in it, right are they out?
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: They are still in it. They need a Tampa loss
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: at home to New Orlean.
- 1:40:31Speaker 8: Yeah, I'll take Atlanta to win, but I'll take the
- 1:40:32Speaker 8: points for Carolina. It's a close one.
- 1:40:34Speaker 7: I will also split the baby.
- 1:40:36Speaker 6: I've been I liking Carolina, but they got blown out
- 1:40:39Speaker 6: last week by Tampa Bay, so I think that they
- 1:40:41Speaker 6: have let go of the rope. I'm taking Atlanta both ways.
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna take Atlanta both ways too, because I
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: think Michael Pennix has given the offense a you know,
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: a lift. So I think there'll be too many points
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: for Carolina.
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: Yeah. I this is a lock of the week. Falcons cover,
- 1:41:00Speaker 5: Falcons cover.
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: The falcons covering is the lock of the week. Yeah,
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: asterisk is that I got it? Okay, I got it.
- 1:41:09Speaker 5: Fox at one o'clock, eleven and five, Commanders at the
- 1:41:13Speaker 5: seven and nine.
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: Cowboys Washington by four and a half.
- 1:41:21Speaker 8: Does this game mean anything?
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: I do not know if Washington can move seeds. Yeah,
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: and I know that, but I don't know if they can.
- 1:41:31Speaker 8: I'll take Washington to win. I'll take the points for Dallas.
- 1:41:33Speaker 8: I think it's a close one.
- 1:41:37Speaker 7: I'll take Washington. I'll lay the points.
- 1:41:40Speaker 6: So I thought that Dallas was actually playing pretty hard
- 1:41:43Speaker 6: down the stretch here, considering that they've been out of
- 1:41:45Speaker 6: it for a while, and then last week happened. They
- 1:41:48Speaker 6: lose forty one to seven, to a backup quarterback, So
- 1:41:50Speaker 6: I'm taking Washington both ways.
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: Ended up being the third string quarterback.
- 1:41:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean that's an ugly loss.
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna take Washington both ways as well. Even
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: if they can't improve their seed, I think they have
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: more to play for.
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: Obviously, the fact that the Cowboys got blown out last week.
- 1:42:06Speaker 5: I was trying to talk myself into them. They're gonna
- 1:42:08Speaker 5: come back and play hard and cover, but I'm gonna
- 1:42:11Speaker 5: go with the Commanders both ways. I just can't talk
- 1:42:14Speaker 5: myself into taking the Cowboys. All right, one o'clock on Fox,
- 1:42:18Speaker 5: the four and twelve Bears at the eleven and five
- 1:42:21Speaker 5: Packers the.
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: Pack by ten.
- 1:42:25Speaker 8: Oh boy, it's these huge spreads like every game. I'm
- 1:42:30Speaker 8: just tempted to say that they're gonna be closed. Take
- 1:42:32Speaker 8: the favorite, but they're gonna be closed. But uh, you know,
- 1:42:35Speaker 8: green Bay tough loss. I'm gonna I'm gonna take green Bay.
- 1:42:37Speaker 8: I'll lay the points. Bounce back at home against Chicago.
- 1:42:40Speaker 7: I feel the same way.
- 1:42:44Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean green Bay is really locked into where
- 1:42:48Speaker 6: they are, like they can't win the division. Obviously, even
- 1:42:51Speaker 6: playing everybody in this game, I feel like this might
- 1:42:53Speaker 6: be a rest game.
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: I don't know to.
- 1:42:55Speaker 5: Judging by the spread, I think they might be.
- 1:42:56Speaker 6: I'm gonna take green Bay, but I'm gonna take Chicago
- 1:42:59Speaker 6: to cover because i don't know. I don't know if
- 1:43:02Speaker 6: green Bay is playing for anything in this game.
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: Yeah, they're playing a team that is not good. So
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: I'll take green Bay both ways. When they play teams
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: with pulses, they lose. Yeah, Detroit twice, lost in Minnesota, twice,
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: lost in Philadelphia.
- 1:43:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna go with the wisdom of the big houses,
- 1:43:16Speaker 5: and I'll say that the Packers.
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: The big houses too cover.
- 1:43:20Speaker 5: That's you know, the big ones like Caesars.
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: And Yeah, MG, Sid Diamond, I'm with you.
- 1:43:27Speaker 5: I have a Sid Diamond.
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: It's still around. I doubt it.
- 1:43:32Speaker 5: What was he Bally's.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: I don't remember.
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: I think he was Bally's. You might have been not
- 1:43:38Speaker 5: the Tropic. He was one of those old school ones,
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: the Tropic.
- 1:43:42Speaker 15: Uh.
- 1:43:44Speaker 5: Sunday at one on Fox, the four and twelve Jaguars
- 1:43:48Speaker 5: at the seven and nine Colts Indy by five.
- 1:43:53Speaker 8: F yikes, Mac Jones closing it out.
- 1:43:57Speaker 9: Huh.
- 1:43:58Speaker 8: These games are so terrible. Gross loss to for Indy
- 1:44:02Speaker 8: last week. I'm going to take Jacksonville on the road
- 1:44:05Speaker 8: with an upset Go Mac.
- 1:44:08Speaker 5: Colts.
- 1:44:09Speaker 6: Colts, I think we all should be thanking Mac Jones
- 1:44:13Speaker 6: for winning that game last week for the Patriots, and
- 1:44:17Speaker 6: I I'm going to take him again. I really liked
- 1:44:22Speaker 6: what I've seen out of Brian Thomas Junior. I think
- 1:44:24Speaker 6: he is the real deal, and I think he has
- 1:44:27Speaker 6: another big game against the Colts defense that has really
- 1:44:30Speaker 6: struggled here.
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: Yeah, there's been a lot of talk about the quarterback
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: class and how good they've been, and they have been
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: all of them, but the wide receiver class, so some
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: good rookie years for wide receivers like Brian Thomas that
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: that have mentioned. I'll take Jacksonville to US boys, not
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: all of them.
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: If this game was in Jacksonville, I'd be picking the Jaguars.
- 1:44:49Speaker 5: But the Colts win. But they do not cover. They
- 1:44:52Speaker 5: do not cover.
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: So there you go.
- 1:44:56Speaker 5: Sunday at one CBS, the three and thirteen Giants at
- 1:45:00Speaker 5: the thirteen and three Eagles.
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: Uh the Eagles by three. Evidently no Saquon no anybody? Yeah?
- 1:45:09Speaker 8: No, can he Piickett? Who is the quarterback number three?
- 1:45:14Speaker 8: H gosh, I'm not sure. I'll take Philly at home
- 1:45:20Speaker 8: it's just hard with it. You don't know who's playing
- 1:45:22Speaker 8: or yeah, I'm just I play for.
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: Philly.
- 1:45:30Speaker 6: I'm taking Philly both ways. I just it's a culture
- 1:45:33Speaker 6: win for the Eagles. I just think that the Giants
- 1:45:35Speaker 6: culture is broken and that Tanne McKee can kind of sling.
- 1:45:38Speaker 8: It Philly Giants that are like, we gotta beat them.
- 1:45:41Speaker 3: They took from us.
- 1:45:43Speaker 8: We gotta show them.
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: Just I'm gonna take Philly both ways. But the way
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: the Giants played last week, that you know, they probably
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: feeling pretty good about themselves.
- 1:45:58Speaker 8: Neighbors.
- 1:45:58Speaker 5: So did any of you guys hear this rumor that
- 1:46:00Speaker 5: the Giants already had a what if deal with the Patriots?
- 1:46:04Speaker 5: What what like?
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: What if? What like?
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: Wherever we like, we'll have a you'll you'll talk to
- 1:46:10Speaker 5: us about trading trading one pick this year, like depending
- 1:46:16Speaker 5: on where we end up. They have scenarios for No.
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: I haven't where was this eminating? I I just asked
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: you if you've heard that. I have not neither of
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: I but he's challenging me. I can't even make it
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: through a whole show.
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: I got I got you there, Huh, what are talking?
- 1:46:42Speaker 5: I'm gonna go with the Giants winning and the football
- 1:46:46Speaker 5: God saying she serves the Eagles. Right, Yeah, giants win
- 1:46:51Speaker 5: the game, would because you played to win. I told
- 1:46:56Speaker 5: the story about John Maddens sent Tom Coughlin a letter
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: after that seven game where the Giants played to win
- 1:47:03Speaker 5: the last game of the season, saying, thank you for
- 1:47:06Speaker 5: playing football the way it's supposed to be played. Play
- 1:47:09Speaker 5: to win every game.
- 1:47:11Speaker 6: That's fair.
- 1:47:11Speaker 5: He said, I'm almost a little emotional writing this letter
- 1:47:14Speaker 5: to you.
- 1:47:15Speaker 6: I just will never forget. Wes Welker tearing his.
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: A c L Week seventeen in Houston.
- 1:47:21Speaker 6: Woll do you have to be out there they We're
- 1:47:25Speaker 6: gonna get them out quick.
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: They lost, They lost the game that you insisted they won,
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: and they lost their best.
- 1:47:32Speaker 6: Player and they lost in the million.
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: Yeah, before anybody jumps on me, non Brady category.
- 1:47:38Speaker 5: Yeah, one o'clock on Fox, the five and eleven Saints
- 1:47:44Speaker 5: are at the nine and seven Buccaneers.
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: Bucks Winker Bacon and they win the division. They're favored
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: by thirteen and a half to do so well.
- 1:47:53Speaker 8: Definitely taking Tampa. I'm gonna go Tampa all the way.
- 1:47:55Speaker 8: I think they they come out and blow doors get
- 1:47:58Speaker 8: in the playoffs.
- 1:47:59Speaker 7: Tampa, Tampa.
- 1:48:02Speaker 6: I'm gonna take Tampa, but I'm gonna take the Saints
- 1:48:04Speaker 6: to cover because I just feel like Tampa's got a
- 1:48:06Speaker 6: little bit of that, you know. They just get a
- 1:48:09Speaker 6: little choking them sometimes and like just a little tight button,
- 1:48:13Speaker 6: you know. And I just think that they Yeah, I
- 1:48:16Speaker 6: think they win, but I think it's a little closer
- 1:48:18Speaker 6: than they want to.
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna lay the points Tampa both ways. I
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: think they blow doors.
- 1:48:24Speaker 5: Yeah, I just think they score too many points. And
- 1:48:27Speaker 5: if there's one way you can kind of lay down
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: in a game, it's defensively, you know, and.
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: Especially if you don't have any offense to sort of
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: get in a fight.
- 1:48:35Speaker 5: Yep. So Buccaneers cover one o'clock on CBS nine and seven.
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: Texans at the three and thirteen Titans.
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: Evidently Houston is laying down in this game because the
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: Titans are favored by one and a half.
- 1:48:49Speaker 8: Say what, that's weird. I don't believe them. I'm going
- 1:48:55Speaker 8: with Houston.
- 1:48:59Speaker 6: Me too, Me too. I think all these games where
- 1:49:03Speaker 6: guy teams are resting people, I don't think it outweighs
- 1:49:06Speaker 6: the fact that they're winning teams and they actually have
- 1:49:09Speaker 6: a winning culture and people actually want to be playing
- 1:49:12Speaker 6: for their times.
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: So it's a good way of putting it.
- 1:49:14Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm gonna go Houston.
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna take the Texans both ways, me too.
- 1:49:19Speaker 5: All right, now we move to the second half because
- 1:49:22Speaker 5: we're skipping over the Patriots. At one o'clock, we go
- 1:49:26Speaker 5: to four to twenty five, No. Four or five games
- 1:49:29Speaker 5: on Fox, the six and ten forty nine Ers at
- 1:49:32Speaker 5: the seven to nine Cardinals Evans Cardinals.
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: Yes, Arizona by four, he said, Mark, I thank Do
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: you have it the other way?
- 1:49:43Speaker 8: I don't have it actually right now?
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: Okay, that is what they have. No brock party, Arizona
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: by four. Yes, no brock party.
- 1:49:50Speaker 8: They echo, Arizona at home. Then with that one, is.
- 1:49:53Speaker 5: It because he's hurt?
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: Yeah, you got hurt.
- 1:49:56Speaker 4: Later in the game.
- 1:49:57Speaker 6: You might have a tennis elbow. Really yeah, I know
- 1:50:01Speaker 6: something about that.
- 1:50:02Speaker 5: A little straps on it, strap it on, Brett, that's
- 1:50:09Speaker 5: it can be. Yeah, I had it. You couldn't even
- 1:50:11Speaker 5: lift a can of coke.
- 1:50:13Speaker 6: That's why I asked you about it.
- 1:50:15Speaker 5: Or pepsi.
- 1:50:17Speaker 7: Zona Zona.
- 1:50:20Speaker 6: Uh. I am going to go with the forty nine
- 1:50:23Speaker 6: ers in this game. I feel like I like how
- 1:50:25Speaker 6: they've played, even though they didn't beat Detroit. I thought
- 1:50:28Speaker 6: they were they tried, they were competitive.
- 1:50:30Speaker 8: Just trying to save Kyle she and his job as well.
- 1:50:33Speaker 6: They already said he's coming back, That's what they said.
- 1:50:35Speaker 6: The fact that we even had to ask the question
- 1:50:37Speaker 6: is ridiculous.
- 1:50:38Speaker 5: So who's throwing for the forty nine ers?
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: Brandon Allen maybe sounds he played the other game that
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: party couldn't play any good. Yeah. Yeah, I'm taking Arizona
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: both ways.
- 1:50:52Speaker 5: Yeah, me too, Josh Dobbs, Sorry, Josh Dobbs.
- 1:50:56Speaker 6: I came into the game last week.
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: I'll double down in Arizona.
- 1:51:00Speaker 5: Four cbs, the fifteen and one Chiefs at the nine
- 1:51:05Speaker 5: and seven Bronco Huge game.
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: This is the big game in the AFC that affects
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: a lot of other teams. Denver by ten and a half.
- 1:51:13Speaker 5: Geez, yeah, that's a lot.
- 1:51:16Speaker 8: I like Denver to win. I'm gonna take the points.
- 1:51:18Speaker 8: So I just I even you said everybody in Kansas City,
- 1:51:22Speaker 8: I still see him keeping it close in the division.
- 1:51:23Speaker 8: So I'll take Kansas City the points.
- 1:51:27Speaker 6: Same is Pat playing, No he's not. But I'm gonna
- 1:51:32Speaker 6: do the same thing because I'm sticking with my culture
- 1:51:33Speaker 6: theme here. I think Kansas City has got enough fight
- 1:51:36Speaker 6: in them to keep it competitive. Good defense, but I'm
- 1:51:40Speaker 6: gonna take Broncos to win.
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: I'm gonna take your culture thing a step further. I'll
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: take Kansas City to win the game.
- 1:51:44Speaker 6: I like that.
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: That's a no no, no, no no no. That's just just
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: an upset that I think they might be a little
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: little choke going on with with Denver. I thought they
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: were playing for a tie last week. I didn't care
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: for that, even though the tie got them in the playoffs.
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: They did they then he admitted it. Peyton admitted it
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: after the game. Then, Yeah, we knew what tie would
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: get us in the playoffs.
- 1:52:09Speaker 5: Defense does travel, and when you're playing the Broncos, you
- 1:52:11Speaker 5: always have to travel.
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:52:14Speaker 5: So the Chiefs cover. They don't win, but uh but
- 1:52:19Speaker 5: they do cover.
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: So everybody likes the points. Anyway.
- 1:52:23Speaker 5: Yep, Bronco was nine and seven. That mirrors their home schedule.
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: Uh, quit on the first one. That's much better.
- 1:52:35Speaker 5: I couldn't follow through with that and fox the nine
- 1:52:39Speaker 5: and seven Seahawks at the ten and six Rams.
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: Uh the Jimmy Garoppolo. Yeah, ROMs Seattle by six and
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: a half. I'm sorry all the way around, Rams by
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: six and a.
- 1:52:52Speaker 6: Half because I have Seattle is Stafford her? Maybe you
- 1:52:56Speaker 6: had that Stafford her.
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: Stafford's not playing, he's resting.
- 1:52:59Speaker 5: So Rams are locked in.
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: Yes, Oh, I haven't sure because I have it as
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: Seattle because I wrote plus six and a half. Oh
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: wait a minute, no, yeah, yes, it's Seattle's favorite. I
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: have it written right, I just read it wrong. Gotcha,
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: Seattle by six and a half. This game is at
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: galar uh.
- 1:53:17Speaker 8: I'm gonna keep going weird with splitting the baby. I
- 1:53:19Speaker 8: would take the Rams to win, but I'll take the
- 1:53:21Speaker 8: points for Seattle.
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: What no, see that's favored by that's my fault. I
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: read it. Oh my sorry, Seattle's favored by six and
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: a half.
- 1:53:30Speaker 8: I got you. I'll take Seattle out right then?
- 1:53:32Speaker 6: Yeah, me too, So Seattle's eliminated.
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: Yes, strength of victory.
- 1:53:37Speaker 8: Where's the program?
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: Now?
- 1:53:40Speaker 8: I'm gonna who's got the better program?
- 1:53:43Speaker 6: You're so right, you're so right, And I'm gonna go
- 1:53:46Speaker 6: with the Rams because you know I'm sticking with the pants.
- 1:53:49Speaker 6: Are Rams to win?
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: I'm with I'm with that. Jimme go up. Yeah, I
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: mean I think Garoppolo is you know, he's a competent quarterback.
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: They should be able to move the ball and put
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: some points on the board. I'll take the Rams to
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: win at home. I am too.
- 1:54:02Speaker 5: I think Garoppolo still thinks he can start in this
- 1:54:04Speaker 5: league and it's a good day to prove it. So
- 1:54:07Speaker 5: Rams win four to twenty five, CBS ten and six.
- 1:54:10Speaker 5: Chargers coming off a huge win against the four and
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: twelve Raiders.
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: Yeah, the Lack by four and a half.
- 1:54:18Speaker 6: Oh, they're predicting that they're gonna rest and they're in.
- 1:54:20Speaker 8: They're definitely arrest some people. But you know what, it's
- 1:54:23Speaker 8: another culture game division. I'm gonna take the lack, Lack
- 1:54:27Speaker 8: and lay the Chargers. Okay, lack and lay.
- 1:54:31Speaker 6: I'm doing the same thing. I'm sticking to my guns
- 1:54:33Speaker 6: on this one. I think the Raiders are they might
- 1:54:37Speaker 6: be firing a coach come Monday morning. I think that
- 1:54:39Speaker 6: that team is in for an overhaul again.
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: One two in a row.
- 1:54:43Speaker 6: Chargers frisky.
- 1:54:44Speaker 8: They're playing hard for him.
- 1:54:46Speaker 5: There are a certain part owner is gonna walk in
- 1:54:49Speaker 5: on Monday.
- 1:54:49Speaker 7: See you're fired, You're fired.
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Lack. Also, I don't know why,
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: but I'll take.
- 1:55:01Speaker 8: The last respectful to the goat.
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: If I'm watching Mike.
- 1:55:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna go with the Chargers as well, both ways.
- 1:55:11Speaker 5: Four to twenty five Fox eight and eight Dolphins at
- 1:55:14Speaker 5: the four and twelve Jets.
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: Another game with implications. The Dolphins by one.
- 1:55:20Speaker 6: Dolphins can still make Denver loses.
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: Miami's in with a win, and I believe I'll take
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: believe no Tua again.
- 1:55:28Speaker 6: Yeah, that's still crazy. It's gonna be Scooper.
- 1:55:30Speaker 8: I can't. I want to take Miami. I'll take Miami's Snoop,
- 1:55:33Speaker 8: isn't it. Give me, give me the gim me, give me,
- 1:55:36Speaker 8: give me the.
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: Dolphins, give me, give me, gimme the Dolphins.
- 1:55:39Speaker 7: Yeah, I guess me too.
- 1:55:42Speaker 6: So these are two teams that have zero Pro bowlers,
- 1:55:44Speaker 6: the Patriots one Pro.
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: Bowler by the way. By the way, add in the
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: number two seed Buffalo Bills have two. Yeah, so three
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: Pro bowlers in the division.
- 1:55:57Speaker 6: So if Gonzo gets named an alternate, then we're tied
- 1:56:01Speaker 6: with the Bills. So basically we are just.
- 1:56:03Speaker 8: As talent talent.
- 1:56:05Speaker 6: Anyways, I'm gonna go with the Dolphins in this game
- 1:56:08Speaker 6: against the Jets. The Jets are I don't know about
- 1:56:11Speaker 6: those Jets. They're Aaron Rodgers maybe out. I don't know.
- 1:56:14Speaker 5: They're gearing up for the trade in the off season
- 1:56:15Speaker 5: with the Patriots.
- 1:56:17Speaker 6: The Force trade.
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: Yeah, well I'll take the Jets. I don't believe in
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: Tyler Huntley. I thought he played reasonably well last week.
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: I don't think he'll do it again.
- 1:56:27Speaker 5: It's a tough one. Do the Jets come out wanting
- 1:56:32Speaker 5: to play? That's the question, like I would, is there
- 1:56:34Speaker 5: a reason for them to? Is there a reason for
- 1:56:38Speaker 5: them to come out and put up a good performance
- 1:56:41Speaker 5: that final game? I say yes, I think they do
- 1:56:43Speaker 5: win this game eight twenty on NBC Universo, Telexitos and Peacock.
- 1:56:53Speaker 5: This is the game of the week. The fourteen and
- 1:56:55Speaker 5: two Vikings at the fourteen and two Lions.
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: Winner take all Lions by two and a half.
- 1:57:03Speaker 8: Wow, love it just I mean, two of the feel
- 1:57:04Speaker 8: good stories of the year.
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: Right, fourteen and three and get in the fifth seat.
- 1:57:08Speaker 8: That's crazy. That shot though, of Kevin O'Connell watching Sam
- 1:57:12Speaker 8: Donold get like lifted up, I mean, was that Connor
- 1:57:15Speaker 8: standing there right on his face?
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: It was kind of cool.
- 1:57:19Speaker 6: Yeah, that was incredible.
- 1:57:20Speaker 8: I'm really tempted to take Minnesota on this one, and
- 1:57:23Speaker 8: you know what, I'm gonna do it. I think they
- 1:57:25Speaker 8: upset Detroit at home, just injuries catching up with Detroit
- 1:57:29Speaker 8: at the end, and Minnesota just seems like they're peaking
- 1:57:31Speaker 8: right now. So I gotta go to Minnesota.
- 1:57:33Speaker 7: I'm gonna go to the Lions.
- 1:57:36Speaker 6: This is your coach of the year by a landslide,
- 1:57:39Speaker 6: I think at this point with yeah, Kevin o'ca, I mean,
- 1:57:41Speaker 6: fourteen and two with Sam Darnold like that, that's pretty incredible.
- 1:57:45Speaker 6: And I'm gonna take the Vikings to win this game.
- 1:57:48Speaker 6: The Lions defense cannot stop anybody, and I worry really
- 1:57:52Speaker 6: about their whole longevity in the playoffs too with that defense.
- 1:57:55Speaker 6: I mean, the forty nine ers move the ball at
- 1:57:57Speaker 6: will in that game last week. So I'm taking the Vikings.
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: I really thought I was going to be alone on this.
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: I'm taking the Vikings also. I just feel like their
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: defense will at least get a stopper too and make
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: life a little bit more difficult. That's how Detroit's trying
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: to win games now is they're just saying, we need
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: to score every time. We're going to go for fourth
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: down every time because we know we have to protect
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: our defense, and Minnesota's defense should be able to get
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: a stop or too and keep it, you know, around thirty.
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: And if that happens, I think the Vikings win the game.
- 1:58:28Speaker 5: I think you're all speaking my language. I think the
- 1:58:30Speaker 5: Vikings win this game. The battle for the NFC, I
- 1:58:34Speaker 5: think it's the Vikings all right. Now we move back
- 1:58:37Speaker 5: to one o'clock on CBS. It's the game of our week.
- 1:58:41Speaker 5: The thirteen and three Bills at the three and thirteen Patriots.
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: Buffalo by TWOFOWO what thirteen?
- 1:58:53Speaker 6: Every other team that's resting starters is not favored in.
- 1:59:00Speaker 8: I just feel like the way things have been going
- 1:59:02Speaker 8: this year, this feels like a Patriots win to me.
- 1:59:04Speaker 8: It feels like this is the game. They pull it
- 1:59:06Speaker 8: together and they play right, and they knock off the
- 1:59:08Speaker 8: backups and maybe Joe Milton throws a touchdown or something.
- 1:59:10Speaker 8: But I got New England winning. I'll say twenty to sixteen.
- 1:59:20Speaker 7: I don't feel that way. I'm gonna say Bills those
- 1:59:26Speaker 7: twenty eight Patriots fourteen.
- 1:59:31Speaker 6: I feel the same way as Deuce. I mean, how
- 1:59:34Speaker 6: other way could you finish the season like this? By winning?
- 1:59:36Speaker 6: To lose the number one pick. It's just extremely fitting
- 1:59:40Speaker 6: for how this is all gone, is that this would
- 1:59:43Speaker 6: be the game that they kind of put it together
- 1:59:44Speaker 6: and have a decent game when they don't want to
- 1:59:46Speaker 6: win the game. Yeah. So I'm going to go Patriots
- 1:59:49Speaker 6: twenty seven to twenty over the Buffalo Bills. And I
- 1:59:53Speaker 6: think Drake May plays for the majority of not the entire.
- 1:59:56Speaker 8: Game, And you're pulling your hair out from start to finish.
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: I really have nothing, no idea what you expect this game.
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: I'm going to take Buffalo because I think their backups
- 2:00:07Speaker 1: are going to play, and I think they're going to
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: play hard. I would give the Patriots a better chance
- 2:00:11Speaker 1: if there was a smattering yeah, you know, and they
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: were like kind of played the whole game like they
- 2:00:16Speaker 1: did the first half in Buffalo, like with no intensity.
- 2:00:19Speaker 1: But Mitch Trubisky, he's like he's a backup for a reason,
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: but he will go out and play hard. I think
- 2:00:27Speaker 1: it'll I think they'll be hard pressed.
- 2:00:28Speaker 6: He's terrible.
- 2:00:29Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty three to twenty Buffalo.
- 2:00:31Speaker 5: It's gonna be apropos for this season for the Patriots
- 2:00:34Speaker 5: to win this game, exactly right, and they will eleven to.
- 2:00:38Speaker 1: Three, eleven to three, is just beautiful.
- 2:00:47Speaker 6: Get into eleven.
- 2:00:52Speaker 5: Some weird rule.
- 2:00:55Speaker 6: Score, it's like.
- 2:00:57Speaker 7: Three field goals in a safety or that's.
