- 0:00Speaker 1: Okay, so what are we going to do today? Last year,
- 0:02Speaker 1: Gloria Grover was in Times Square, and this year she's
- 0:06Speaker 1: going to be here in the studio reminiscing about being
- 0:09Speaker 1: in Times Square, wishing that she was back in New York.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Isn't that right, Gloria? Yes, I'm Gloria Grover. You don't
- 0:16Speaker 1: have to start right now. Well, I'm going to start.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Why did I sit down? You're right. Go ahead. Phil
- 0:22Speaker 1: Hendry Show, Gloria Grover. Thank you, Phil. It was one
- 0:26Speaker 1: year ago this month that I visited everyone in New
- 0:29Speaker 1: York as Phil was just describing the experience of being
- 0:34Speaker 1: in the theater and It was thrilling for me to
- 0:38Speaker 1: watch the you know off-broadway. It's just You want some
- 0:44Speaker 1: you want something do I want what what do I want?
- 0:49Speaker 1: It feel if I keep getting interrupted, but what's the problem?
- 0:52Speaker 1: It sounded like she had a maybe she wanted to
- 0:54Speaker 1: break break wind and No, I didn't want to break wind, Jack.
- 0:59Speaker 1: It's Bud. I know it's Bud. Sorry, Gloria. Well, it's
- 1:04Speaker 1: a little embarrassing. Is this going out right now? We
- 1:07Speaker 1: can stop and roll back. I've heard you guys say
- 1:10Speaker 1: that before. Gloria, we'll stop and roll back. That was embarrassing. Bud,
- 1:14Speaker 1: it sounded like she needed to bust one off. Okay, Bud, just...
- 1:19Speaker 1: What did I do? I'm really curious. Gloria, let's move on. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:24Speaker 1: I'm not. What did I do? I'm curious to know
- 1:26Speaker 1: what I did to make you think I needed to
- 1:28Speaker 1: bust one off. What an embarrassing thing to say, bud.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I'm sorry, ma'am. You went, ah, like that. And you
- 1:36Speaker 1: just thrust your hip forward. So in other words, it
- 1:38Speaker 1: wasn't just that I went, ah. You gave it a
- 1:41Speaker 1: pelvic thrust like I was sitting on someone's face. Gloria,
- 1:46Speaker 1: stop it. Well, I'm the one here. Gloria, please, please. Bud,
- 1:51Speaker 1: why don't you do something else, okay? Yeah, every time
- 1:53Speaker 1: it happens, I get thrown out of the studio. It's
- 1:56Speaker 1: a delicate situation. Gloria, can we get you anything? Do
- 2:01Speaker 1: you have any tangerine juice, anything like that? No, we don't.
- 2:03Speaker 1: We can get some. No, it's all right. I'll take it.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Do you have a Sprite or a Squirt? We do
- 2:12Speaker 1: have a Squirt. The soft drink, Bud, not just something
- 2:16Speaker 1: that squirts. Oh, oh, oh. I don't know. You don't know? Well,
- 2:22Speaker 1: I think we have a sprite. All right. Get her
- 2:25Speaker 1: that sprite, bud. It's in the refrigerator. Here. What do
- 2:30Speaker 1: you want now? I just wanted to warn you. Can
- 2:32Speaker 1: you say squirt on account of the sexual innuendo? I'm
- 2:36Speaker 1: going to kick your ass. All right, sorry. Boy, I
- 2:40Speaker 1: tell you what, Phil. That young man must be worth
- 2:42Speaker 1: a million dollars to you because all he ever does
- 2:45Speaker 1: when he opens his mouth... Nothing but pure airport effluvia
- 2:49Speaker 1: comes right out of his mouth. Yeah, but, you know,
- 2:53Speaker 1: is a little bit uncensored. Okay, so, Gloria, let's roll again.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Gloria Grover reminiscing about being in New York one year ago.
- 3:02Speaker 1: You did the show from Times Square. Yes, I did.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Go ahead, Gloria. What do you mean, go ahead, Gloria?
- 3:07Speaker 1: Count her down, Phil. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Three, two, one.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Thank you, Phil, and welcome. I'm Gloria Grover. And this
- 3:15Speaker 1: is Gloria Grover, unbound, unchained, and roaming wherever. What was
- 3:21Speaker 1: the name of the show? I think it was Unbound
- 3:22Speaker 1: and Unchained. Oh, here's the general shot. What was Gloria's
- 3:27Speaker 1: show called last year? When she was in Times Square. Yes.
- 3:30Speaker 1: It was I'm Gloria Grover, unbound, and fully, I forget
- 3:35Speaker 1: what it was, unbound, and, well, I wanted to say, like,
- 3:40Speaker 1: you weren't wearing clothing? No, it wasn't that. We can
- 3:44Speaker 1: go back and listen to it. Why don't we do that?
- 3:47Speaker 1: All right. This is Gloria Grover, Unbound and Alive. I
- 3:52Speaker 1: thought it was more than that. We are here, ladies
- 3:54Speaker 1: and gentlemen. Gloria Grover, Unbound and Alive. More to the point,
- 3:59Speaker 1: we're in Times Square, New York, for this very first
- 4:04Speaker 1: Gloria Grover, Unbound and Alive. Yes, okay, now you're right.
- 4:09Speaker 1: That was the name of it. All right. Okay, do
- 4:12Speaker 1: we have... Let's get some music, but I guess we
- 4:15Speaker 1: do need you in here. Yeah, yeah, now you do.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Don't give me any shit. All right. Okay, Gloria, I
- 4:22Speaker 1: think we can probably pull up something dramatic, you know, like... Well,
- 4:26Speaker 1: if the show is called Gloria Grover Unbound, I'm unbound,
- 4:30Speaker 1: I'm alive, and I'm free, and I'm roving everywhere. You know,
- 4:37Speaker 1: I want the sense of... I am going all over
- 4:40Speaker 1: the world, but I'm staying in one place. So in
- 4:43Speaker 1: other words, my head, my mind, and the core of
- 4:46Speaker 1: my body stays here, but the rest of me is
- 4:49Speaker 1: flowing out. I don't know. That's pretty weird. You're laughing?
- 4:56Speaker 1: I didn't mean to. Of course you meant to. Phil,
- 4:59Speaker 1: I'm an overlord in Elkhart the Next Step. I see
- 5:02Speaker 1: a lot, okay? Well, Glory, you're not omniscient. Are you? No,
- 5:09Speaker 1: I'm not, but you know... But you think you are. No,
- 5:13Speaker 1: it's just that I don't like... I'm an overlord. When
- 5:16Speaker 1: people say to me, you don't have this power or
- 5:18Speaker 1: that power or that power, I want to tell them,
- 5:21Speaker 1: why don't you shut up before I slap your face? Okay.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I don't mean that literally, but... All right. Let's get
- 5:27Speaker 1: the music ready here for Gloria Grover, Unbound and Alive,
- 5:31Speaker 1: here on the Phil Hendry Show as we reminisce about
- 5:36Speaker 1: Gloria's visit to Times Square one year ago. Now, where
- 5:41Speaker 1: in the hell... A dramatic thing. This is something from
- 5:46Speaker 1: the 60s. This is Judy in disguise with glasses. What
- 5:51Speaker 1: are you trying to pull, Hitman? No, I didn't. You
- 5:54Speaker 1: said you wanted something dramatic. Isn't this dramatic? This is
- 5:57Speaker 1: some goofy... Judy in disguise. Get that out of here.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I swear to almighty God, Henry. Gloria, hold it together. Okay, bud. Yeah,
- 6:08Speaker 1: there it is here. Dramatic music. Dickman, I swear to God,
- 6:12Speaker 1: you're a good kid, but you sound like a real
- 6:15Speaker 1: dim bulb. Welcome to Gloria Grover, Unbound and Alive. Yes,
- 6:24Speaker 1: it was one year ago today. We were in Times Square,
- 6:28Speaker 1: New York, broadcasting from the site of Phil Henry and Friends.
- 6:33Speaker 1: performing off-Broadway at the Actors' Temple Theater. I'm Gloria Grover,
- 6:39Speaker 1: and I'm alive. Excuse me. What? She had spittle. Cut.
- 6:47Speaker 1: What's the problem now? You did, Gloria. You had spittle
- 6:49Speaker 1: coming down both sides. You see, but here's what you're doing.
- 6:53Speaker 1: You're going, you did, Gloria, but you had spittle. Let's
- 6:57Speaker 1: not laugh about it. I'm simply saying, Gloria, you did.
- 7:00Speaker 1: You had spittle when you said unbound and alive. Spit
- 7:03Speaker 1: came out both sides of your face. It did, Gloria,
- 7:05Speaker 1: and it drooled down. It dribbled and then drooled fully.
- 7:10Speaker 1: All right, let's do it again. Let's do this monkey shit.
- 7:15Speaker 1: What are you laughing at, Phil? I don't know. I'm
- 7:17Speaker 1: probably just tired. All right, Gloria Grover, do you like
- 7:21Speaker 1: the music? Yes, I love it. It's Tchaikovsky. I love Tchaikovsky.
- 7:25Speaker 1: All right, here we go. Is that how you pronounce it?
- 7:27Speaker 1: Because it's spelled T. It looks like it's pronounced T. Kikowski.
- 7:33Speaker 1: But don't worry about it. Okay. It's pronounced Chikowski, Dingleberry.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I'm Gloria Grover, and welcome to Gloria Grover, Unbound and Alive.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Here I am in the studios of Phil Henry in
- 7:50Speaker 1: beautiful Ted Bell Canyon above the beautiful city of Los Angeles,
- 7:54Speaker 1: our home Where I raised Larry, I was married, created
- 7:58Speaker 1: a business, and now I'm an overlord in Elkhart. The
- 8:03Speaker 1: next step. Why'd she do that? Cut. Shut up, bud.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Did you shut up? But I... That's what you do now, right? Yes.
- 8:10Speaker 1: All overlords are required in the, in the, what they
- 8:14Speaker 1: call the mind wipe area. That is when you say
- 8:16Speaker 1: Elkhart and then beat, beat, beat. All right, bud, if
- 8:20Speaker 1: you do jerk off one more time. I'm sorry, sir,
- 8:23Speaker 1: I'm trying to... I wouldn't mind if you not only
- 8:26Speaker 1: kicked him out of the studio, but threw him in
- 8:28Speaker 1: front of traffic, because I know that this is a
- 8:29Speaker 1: good thruway. Aren't there a lot of trucks that come
- 8:31Speaker 1: through here? Gloria, for God's sake. All right. Shut up, bud. Yes, sir. Okay, Gloria,
- 8:38Speaker 1: do this again, okay? Look, I've only got so much
- 8:42Speaker 1: patience for this henhouse shit you... And now it's Gloria Grover,
- 8:50Speaker 1: Unbound and Alive. Thank you very much, Phil, and welcome
- 8:53Speaker 1: to Gloria Grover, Unbound and Alive. We're here in our
- 8:57Speaker 1: home of Los Angeles, California, but do we remember last year,
- 9:02Speaker 1: one year ago, this very month, we were in the
- 9:05Speaker 1: beautiful city of New York as Phil was performing in
- 9:08Speaker 1: the off-Broadway play The Pitch, written by Tom Alper, at
- 9:11Speaker 1: the Actors Temple Theater on 47th Street. And Phil, you
- 9:15Speaker 1: used to make that trip from 51st to 47th every
- 9:18Speaker 1: night with your play in hand and Just like the actor,
- 9:21Speaker 1: like a real live actor, coming out of your abode there,
- 9:25Speaker 1: your verbo, stopping off, getting a coffee, and then walking,
- 9:28Speaker 1: almost as if you know what you're doing. Well, I
- 9:30Speaker 1: shouldn't say that. Gloria. You're not a real theater actor,
- 9:33Speaker 1: are you, Phil? Yeah, I like to think I am. Okay. Anyway,
- 9:38Speaker 1: Phil came out of this, and he went down to
- 9:40Speaker 1: the thing. Well, all of a sudden, you just don't
- 9:42Speaker 1: have any enthusiasm. Well, I... What do you think? You're
- 9:44Speaker 1: Rod Steiger or something? Gloria, I went to New York
- 9:47Speaker 1: to be in that play. Why am I in the
- 9:49Speaker 1: middle of this? Gloria, this is Gloria Grover, Unbound and Unchained. Yes,
- 9:53Speaker 1: it is. You sound like you're jealous. Well, maybe I am, okay?
- 9:57Speaker 1: That's the first thing this kid got right. What are
- 9:59Speaker 1: you jealous of? You got to go to New York
- 10:02Speaker 1: and be in a play, and I'm down here monkeying
- 10:04Speaker 1: about fingering it with Dr. Elcott and that Ringling Brothers
- 10:10Speaker 1: clown I got for a son. Maybe you'd like to
- 10:13Speaker 1: take up the acting profession. Yes, maybe I would. I
- 10:16Speaker 1: think I'd be very good. I've studied I studied Vivian
- 10:20Speaker 1: Leigh when she did Streetcar Named Desire. I studied, oh,
- 10:24Speaker 1: the wonderful, wonderful lady that was in The Hustler and
- 10:29Speaker 1: Piper Laurie. Oh, God almighty. Okay, Gloria, but we're right now. Yeah, anyway, yeah,
- 10:36Speaker 1: it sure was great being in New York. And there
- 10:39Speaker 1: we were having dinner at the Rosie O'Grady's there. We
- 10:42Speaker 1: went uptown to some of the other places or we
- 10:45Speaker 1: stopped off and Had that little party there at Tom
- 10:47Speaker 1: and Christine's place. Phil, your little daughter, came into town
- 10:51Speaker 1: flying in with Alaska Airlines. It was like a big
- 10:54Speaker 1: happy family. In the biddle, in the biddle, I did
- 10:57Speaker 1: the both, I did the both of those. All right,
- 10:59Speaker 1: let's cut. I said to cut, bud. Oh, sorry, I
- 11:02Speaker 1: didn't get the word from, from, from Ms. Grover. Go ahead, Kai, okay.
- 11:06Speaker 1: What's going on, Gloria? I did, got it, that, that, those. He, he, he, he, yeah. Uh,
- 11:16Speaker 1: so there we were, the bed, oh, God. Well, Gloria,
- 11:20Speaker 1: you're going to have to blow the nose, all right?
- 11:22Speaker 1: What are you laughing at? No, it just reminds me
- 11:25Speaker 1: of something that Ed said one night. All right, you
- 11:28Speaker 1: got to, just never mind. Don't worry about it, bud.
- 11:33Speaker 1: In the middle, yeah, I got it, yeah. I'm not
- 11:38Speaker 1: doing that. Well, every time you do that, it sounds
- 11:40Speaker 1: like you need some gas to escape. You know that
- 11:45Speaker 1: that's pissing her off, so stop it. Sir? All right,
- 11:49Speaker 1: let's stick our nose into this bathroom with unflushed toilets
- 11:52Speaker 1: one more time. What's that mean? That's exactly what I'm
- 11:55Speaker 1: saying is, Phil, doing this show from this studio, reminiscing
- 12:02Speaker 1: about New York is like sticking my nose into a
- 12:05Speaker 1: bathroom with three unflushed toilets. I don't think it's that bad. Well,
- 12:09Speaker 1: that's you. All right, one, two, one, one, two, three.
- 12:13Speaker 1: And now, Gloria Grover and Gloria Grover's Unbound and Alive.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Thank you very much, Phil. I'm so happy to be
- 12:21Speaker 1: with you. One year ago, we were in New York,
- 12:25Speaker 1: in the beautiful city of New York, the vibrant city
- 12:27Speaker 1: of New York, and we were there in support of
- 12:30Speaker 1: Phil Henry as he performed in Tom Alper's The Pitch
- 12:33Speaker 1: at the Actors Temple Theater on 47th Street. To be
- 12:36Speaker 1: in New York, to be in that wonderfully vibrant and
- 12:40Speaker 1: exciting city where there is always something going on. And
- 12:43Speaker 1: yet the people are friendly. New York gets a bad rap.
- 12:47Speaker 1: People think they're unfriendly. These are the most friendly people
- 12:50Speaker 1: that you'll want to meet. We were in New York
- 12:52Speaker 1: for a couple of months and then flew back down
- 12:55Speaker 1: to Florida with Phil. And then Ed and I came
- 12:57Speaker 1: back here to Southern California. And landing here in Southern
- 13:01Speaker 1: California and stepping off the plane, it was like 16
- 13:05Speaker 1: unflushed toilets. Well, you don't want to say that, do you? No,
- 13:11Speaker 1: I don't. I have to Cut. Here. I'm sorry, Phil,
- 13:14Speaker 1: I just, uh... Well, you let your feelings come out
- 13:16Speaker 1: about that one, didn't you? Yeah. Boy, you're looking at
- 13:19Speaker 1: me like I'm the biggest turd in the elephant cage. Well,
- 13:21Speaker 1: you're not, Gloria, but... It just came out of me. Okay.
- 13:26Speaker 1: And action. We landed back here in Los Angeles and...
- 13:31Speaker 1: You said Los Angeles. Cut. And take three. We landed
- 13:37Speaker 1: back here in Los Angeles and reminisced about the wonderful
- 13:40Speaker 1: time we had in what I consider to be the
- 13:43Speaker 1: capital of America, the true cultural and poetic capital of America,
- 13:49Speaker 1: the great city of New York. And now here we
- 13:52Speaker 1: are back in California, and it's almost as if I
- 13:56Speaker 1: tried on a beautiful perfume, and then some would say,
- 14:13Speaker 1: oh my god and it was almost like me trying
- 14:17Speaker 1: on a beautiful perfume and then someone comes around the
- 14:20Speaker 1: corner and says by the way Gloria by the way
- 14:24Speaker 1: Gloria you didn't flush it ruins the mood spoils the
- 14:29Speaker 1: entire effect and so that's when you finally realize you've
- 14:34Speaker 1: hit earth you're back on earth you're back with the
- 14:37Speaker 1: regular people you're not in that beautiful wonderful place of
- 14:40Speaker 1: possibility New York City I'm Gloria Grover, unchained and alive. What?
- 14:48Speaker 1: Unbound and alive. Ah, fuck. All right, just keep going.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Dig it up. I'm Gloria Grover, unbound and alive. And
- 14:57Speaker 1: we'll be talking an awful lot about our trip to
- 14:59Speaker 1: New York here on today's edition of Unbound and Alive.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Brought to you by Welke's. A wonderful glass of milk
- 15:05Speaker 1: can change your life. Welke's Dairies, two of them. One
- 15:09Speaker 1: in Hawthorne and the other one in La Pupinente. La Puinente.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Stick to In La Puente. Ah, yes. Tchaikovsky. This is
- 15:21Speaker 1: Gloria Grover, and I am unbound live. And these are
- 15:26Speaker 1: the moments when I feel almost, almost superhuman, but not
- 15:30Speaker 1: quite superhuman. I feel like a mutated human, like the Hulk.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Like I feel powerful, and I feel alive, but if
- 15:38Speaker 1: I would look at myself in a mirror, I would
- 15:41Speaker 1: break down and cry. because I look like some kind
- 15:44Speaker 1: of a freak. Cut. No, don't cut, don't cut. I
- 15:50Speaker 1: want people to know my real feelings here on Unbound
- 15:53Speaker 1: and Alive. And now, my wonderful, wonderful, significant other on
- 15:57Speaker 1: the phone from our home together there in the Ventura Archery,
- 16:02Speaker 1: in the Ventura Redeemery, Dr. Ed Elcott. Dr. Elcott, how
- 16:06Speaker 1: are you? I'm very, very fine, Overlord. Uh, Shuggy, and
- 16:10Speaker 1: thank you for bringing me on your program this evening,
- 16:13Speaker 1: Unbound and Alive. I've written some... Hold on for just
- 16:17Speaker 1: a moment, if you wouldn't mind, Ed, because this is
- 16:19Speaker 1: kind of about me. Okay. Well, all right. But anyway, Dr. Elcott,
- 16:26Speaker 1: you remember when we... When we were in New York? Yes,
- 16:31Speaker 1: do you remember? I certainly do, and I concur 100%, Gloria.
- 16:36Speaker 1: As we walked down 8th Avenue, I remember coming from
- 16:38Speaker 1: the theater at night. Hold on for a minute there, Sunshine,
- 16:42Speaker 1: because this is about me. Okay. I'm sorry. I stole
- 16:46Speaker 1: a little bit of your thunder there. Go ahead. We
- 16:48Speaker 1: were walking down 8th Avenue on the way home from
- 16:51Speaker 1: the theater. Yes, we're going back to Phil's place to
- 16:53Speaker 1: have a cocktail. And walking down 8th Avenue, looking at
- 16:58Speaker 1: the lights, seeing the people, and then we walked by
- 17:01Speaker 1: this shop. You had said, and I'm going to say
- 17:04Speaker 1: this in Elkhart speaking, You had said when you sat down,
- 17:08Speaker 1: you were in a hardware store with lots of nail guns.
- 17:12Speaker 1: That's Elkhart for I had hemorrhoids. Yes. And so we
- 17:17Speaker 1: stopped into a cannabis shop, and I was going to
- 17:19Speaker 1: buy you some gummies and some smokables to get rid
- 17:23Speaker 1: of the pain, and you said, you know, you didn't
- 17:25Speaker 1: want to be in there. And did you have to
- 17:27Speaker 1: bring that up? All right, I'm sorry. Let's cut all
- 17:29Speaker 1: this shit out, okay? Hey, Gloria. Okay, thank you very much, Dr. Elkhart. Yes,
- 17:35Speaker 1: as we strolled down 8th Avenue in New York on
- 17:37Speaker 1: the way back, and I was alive, unbound and alive. Me,
- 17:44Speaker 1: Gloria Grover. I want to bring on my host. He
- 17:48Speaker 1: was our host last year, and he's our host this
- 17:51Speaker 1: year here. Last year in New York, this year in
- 17:55Speaker 1: Los Angeles, both sides of the great continent of America,
- 17:58Speaker 1: Phil Hendry. Thank you, Gloria. The name is, oh, baby.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Thank you, Overlord Shuggy. You're welcome, Phil. So, Phil, what
- 18:07Speaker 1: do you take from the play experience as opposed to
- 18:11Speaker 1: working as you did last week in front of cameras? Well,
- 18:14Speaker 1: as I was saying to the pre-show audience... Wait, wait, wait.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Let's cut that. Cut it. Cut, cut. Cut that garbage,
- 18:21Speaker 1: will you? That's a Tchaikovsky. I know, but... What's the problem, Glenn?
- 18:26Speaker 1: I want him to... Don't say, as I was saying,
- 18:29Speaker 1: this is my show, so he hasn't said anything to anybody...
- 18:33Speaker 1: before he says it to me. That's true, Phil. That
- 18:36Speaker 1: was great. You went, that's a visit, true, Phil. You did, well,
- 18:39Speaker 1: never mind. Get to it, will you? Sorry. As, yes, Gloria,
- 18:47Speaker 1: one of the things about New York that I found
- 18:48Speaker 1: to be very true is that it is a city
- 18:50Speaker 1: filled with, as they say in Buddhism, bodhisattvas, angels. There's
- 18:55Speaker 1: so many angels. There's so many people that are there
- 18:58Speaker 1: that just, show you where to go, give you directions,
- 19:01Speaker 1: we'll give you, you know, what's the best restaurant. You
