- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on your bab uh huh, I sure will A
- 0:05Speaker 1: good morning everybody. You are listening to the voice, Oh
- 0:10Speaker 1: come on now, dig me if you will. One and only,
- 0:13Speaker 1: Steve Harvey got a radio show, you know, one of
- 0:17Speaker 1: the things about being successful. And I was sharing this
- 0:21Speaker 1: just the other day with a young man and he
- 0:25Speaker 1: asked me. He said, hey, man, I just don't see
- 0:29Speaker 1: how you get up that early in the morning. I
- 0:33Speaker 1: just don't see how, man, it would kill me to
- 0:35Speaker 1: get up this early in the morning. Well, I sat
- 0:38Speaker 1: down and I'm listening to it because it's just a
- 0:40Speaker 1: thousand times I've heard it, you know, and my life is,
- 0:44Speaker 1: you know, not too different from a lot of people's lives.
- 0:46Speaker 1: There's a lot of people out there that rise early.
- 0:50Speaker 1: And I just sit there, man, because I mean, first
- 0:53Speaker 1: of all, I'm grateful to be able to have a job.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I'm so grateful to be able to do one and
- 0:58Speaker 1: several that I happened to enjoy doing. I mean, you know,
- 1:01Speaker 1: it's work, and it's difficult at times, but I mean,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you know I wanted this. You know you got it.
- 1:06Speaker 1: You know, you can't ask God for nothing any give
- 1:08Speaker 1: it to you and be mad that you got it
- 1:10Speaker 1: don't make no sense. You know. The problem with asking
- 1:13Speaker 1: God for stuff is a lot of times we ask
- 1:16Speaker 1: it for stuff we don't really know what all it encompasses,
- 1:18Speaker 1: what all it really is. And I ask for this.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Now along the way, I've gotten far more than I
- 1:24Speaker 1: asked for. I want you to do. Understand that, and
- 1:28Speaker 1: you know that's His grace at work in my life.
- 1:30Speaker 1: But I get up early and I go to work
- 1:33Speaker 1: because I do understand something that it is not walking
- 1:36Speaker 1: up to you. Nobody walks up to people normally and
- 1:40Speaker 1: just hand them checks all the time, and enough checks
- 1:43Speaker 1: to sustain your life, and not only sustain it, but
- 1:46Speaker 1: to have a life that where you could enjoy and
- 1:49Speaker 1: do some of the things you want to do. I
- 1:51Speaker 1: don't know the person that walks out hands out that
- 1:53Speaker 1: money just to be doing it. And then with a
- 1:56Speaker 1: lifestyle though where you can you know, give your key
- 2:00Speaker 1: is a Christmas you know, take your family on vacation,
- 2:03Speaker 1: you know, a year, once a year. I don't know
- 2:04Speaker 1: nobody passing out to kind of money. So I get
- 2:06Speaker 1: up early in the morning. I get at it. I
- 2:09Speaker 1: was taught to get up early in the morning by
- 2:12Speaker 1: my father because my father says, ain't nothing gonna come
- 2:16Speaker 1: to you while you lay in there, And you know what,
- 2:19Speaker 1: it's just true, man, it's just a little common sense. Look,
- 2:22Speaker 1: old people smart, man, they've been around a long time.
- 2:24Speaker 1: You don't get old. You know some old foods out there,
- 2:27Speaker 1: but you know you don't have to deal with them.
- 2:28Speaker 1: But old people are pretty smart, man. They've learned a
- 2:31Speaker 1: lot along the way. And waking up early and getting
- 2:33Speaker 1: out it is one of them things. And I ask
- 2:35Speaker 1: everybody man to think about this scenario of your life.
- 2:39Speaker 1: If a day has twenty four hours in it, and
- 2:42Speaker 1: let's just say you choose to sleep eight of those
- 2:45Speaker 1: hours because they tell you you need eight hours sleep,
- 2:50Speaker 1: so you sleep eight hours. That's a third of your
- 2:53Speaker 1: life asleep. Already, just a third of your life is
- 2:57Speaker 1: spent a sleep if you're gonna do eight hours today. Now,
- 3:01Speaker 1: let's say you have a job that you work eight hours,
- 3:04Speaker 1: and it is not the job of your dreams. It's
- 3:06Speaker 1: not your dream career, your dream profession. It's just the
- 3:09Speaker 1: one you took, like all of us, to get it started.
- 3:13Speaker 1: And then, like all of us, some of us end
- 3:15Speaker 1: up having to state at because we've created these bills,
- 3:17Speaker 1: because we checked and check, so we can't leave it
- 3:19Speaker 1: because we'll lose what we've worked for. So let's just
- 3:23Speaker 1: say you got a job that you go to work
- 3:24Speaker 1: to for eight hours. That's another third of your life.
- 3:29Speaker 1: That's two thirds of your life. Feel how you want
- 3:31Speaker 1: to feel about your two thirds? Well, I like sleep. Okay, cool,
- 3:34Speaker 1: there's a scripture about that too. But now you spent
- 3:37Speaker 1: two thirds of your life one on a job you
- 3:39Speaker 1: don't care for if you're not happy that it, or
- 3:41Speaker 1: one that just pays the bills and it's not your
- 3:43Speaker 1: dream job or career. Another third of your life is sleep.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Oh now, let's hold on. Let's talk about the one
- 3:48Speaker 1: hour of preparation that it may take to get to
- 3:51Speaker 1: the job. That's seventeen hours. Let's say your drive time,
- 3:55Speaker 1: let's say getting to your job for the average person
- 3:59Speaker 1: is anywhere between thirty to an hour. That's an average
- 4:02Speaker 1: of what it takes to average person. Now, some people
- 4:04Speaker 1: out there hustling way harder than that. But let's just
- 4:06Speaker 1: say your average is an hour getting to work. You
- 4:10Speaker 1: add another hour to that going to work. You've now
- 4:13Speaker 1: spent eighteen hours out of the twenty four doing something
- 4:20Speaker 1: that's either nonproductive, you're not happy with, you're not pleased about.
- 4:23Speaker 1: It is not your dream job, it's not your dream profession.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And rest of the time you sleep eighteen hours. Now
- 4:29Speaker 1: you got to come from the job, so let's just
- 4:31Speaker 1: say it's another hour to get back home. That's nineteen hours.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Nineteen hours out of a twenty four hour day. You
- 4:36Speaker 1: now have five hours left in your day. Oh, you
- 4:40Speaker 1: watch TV two hours a day. Okay, excuse me. Let's
- 4:43Speaker 1: put now you put two hours of TV on that
- 4:45Speaker 1: you've just spent twenty one. You now have three hours
- 4:49Speaker 1: in the day to do something super productive for the
- 4:53Speaker 1: development of yourself and the future of your family, and
- 4:57Speaker 1: your future as a person and what you can for
- 5:00Speaker 1: your family. Uh oh, I need to chill. I need
- 5:05Speaker 1: to smoke one. Uh Oh, I needed some time at Happy.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I'll seem like all I do is dry to work
- 5:12Speaker 1: and go to work. I'm gonna go out with the
- 5:14Speaker 1: fellas drink one. Okay, let's say you spend two hours
- 5:19Speaker 1: at Happy. I don't know nobody go to a Happy Hours
- 5:21Speaker 1: yet for a hour. Let's say you spend two hours
- 5:24Speaker 1: at Happy, I'll all smoke in all some video games.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Let's throw that in there two hours of smoking, chilling
- 5:29Speaker 1: video games. That's twenty three hours of your day gone.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Don't you see how your day slips away from you?
- 5:36Speaker 1: So why would you get up early? You get up
- 5:39Speaker 1: early to get a jump. You get up early to produce,
- 5:43Speaker 1: to plan, to become productive. You get up early in
- 5:47Speaker 1: the morning to care about every single minute of your day.
- 5:51Speaker 1: You wake up early in the morning because you have
- 5:53Speaker 1: a plan, a mission, You have something you want to accomplish.
- 5:57Speaker 1: The earlier you get up, the more time you have
- 5:59Speaker 1: just for you to devote to your plan. You map
- 6:02Speaker 1: it out, you make them, send some emails, whatever it
- 6:05Speaker 1: is you need to do to get your dream under way.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Then you go get ready. Then you get in your
- 6:12Speaker 1: car and go to work. Then you go to your job.
- 6:14Speaker 1: But on your job, instead of sitting at your lunch
- 6:16Speaker 1: break messing around with a bunch of people laughing and
- 6:19Speaker 1: talking about nothing, playing dominoes, why don't you take that
- 6:22Speaker 1: hour to do some more research, to send out some
- 6:25Speaker 1: more emails, to put some feelings out there, to see
- 6:28Speaker 1: what can get you in the place that you want
- 6:30Speaker 1: to be. Then when you get off, instead of driving
- 6:33Speaker 1: straight home, why don't you go somewhere in a meeting,
- 6:36Speaker 1: you take in a session with some people in a
- 6:38Speaker 1: positive mental state, group of people that get together. Network
- 6:41Speaker 1: for business, not drink at happy hour. I set network
- 6:45Speaker 1: for business. So after you've done that eight that you
- 6:48Speaker 1: don't really care for on a job, you spend some
- 6:50Speaker 1: more time pursuing, looking into researching, working towards, sending out
- 6:55Speaker 1: some more applications, putting in some more time to build
- 6:59Speaker 1: your new app, discussing some more networking ideas. Okay, that's
- 7:03Speaker 1: your happy hour. Then when you go home, instead of chilling,
- 7:07Speaker 1: drinking one, having a cold, one, smoking one, playing a
- 7:11Speaker 1: video game, why don't you take that two hours and
- 7:13Speaker 1: devote that to that business idea. You got to that
- 7:17Speaker 1: family that you talk about, you really want spend some
- 7:20Speaker 1: time with your children, put something into them, Do something. Man,
- 7:24Speaker 1: with all these precious hours that God gives all of
- 7:27Speaker 1: us in the course of a day, take advantage of
- 7:30Speaker 1: every minute of that. No human being has more than
- 7:33Speaker 1: twenty four hours a day, including myself. But if you
- 7:37Speaker 1: care about every single minute of that day, you'll be
- 7:41Speaker 1: amazed at how much you could get accomplished in a
- 7:44Speaker 1: twenty four hour day. But you can't get none of
- 7:47Speaker 1: that happening because you sleep, and you chilling and you smoking. Okay,
- 7:54Speaker 1: what has that done for you, your family, or your future?
- 7:57Speaker 1: Care about every minute of your day listening to The
- 8:00Speaker 1: Steve Harvey Morning Show
