- 0:02Speaker 1: In under a minute, you will be transported to a
- 0:05Speaker 1: bizarre and fantastic new age.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Hi, I'm Malcolm McDowell.
- 0:10Speaker 3: You're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:12Speaker 2: So just keep listening.
- 0:16Speaker 4: Movie Meltdown It's showtime.
- 0:34Speaker 5: This episode is rated M for Misty. Yes, that's right,
- 0:37Speaker 5: this is a Misty episode, so it will be laced
- 0:39Speaker 5: with profanity even more than usual. If you're not comfortable
- 0:42Speaker 5: with this level of profanity, perhaps this isn't the episode
- 0:45Speaker 5: for you. But we have many other episodes to choose
- 0:48Speaker 5: from that do not feature Misty and will probably be
- 0:50Speaker 5: far less offensive. Okay, maybe. With that having been said,
- 0:54Speaker 5: on with the show.
- 0:56Speaker 6: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:26Speaker 1: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian. I'm Misty.
- 1:29Speaker 7: And we are back with another exciting adventure.
- 1:33Speaker 3: We've been on one today and Misty, you live.
- 1:36Speaker 1: An exciting life anyway. What have you been up to lately?
- 1:56Speaker 8: For one, I read a book.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I'm not buying it. Literate you.
- 2:01Speaker 8: I'm chock full of literacy.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Not pop-up.
- 2:03Speaker 8: It was not a pop-up book. There were no pictures.
- 2:06Speaker 8: I read books all the time. Most of them are
- 2:08Speaker 8: like Fear Street books.
- 2:09Speaker 2: You do have your own book review section.
- 2:13Speaker 8: Is there a song?
- 2:14Speaker 2: Should we play it right now? Yes.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I can read. I'm growing up now. I can read.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Look at me. I can read.
- 2:26Speaker 8: I'm really smart now.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I can read.
- 2:29Speaker 8: Misty's reading a book.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Yay!
- 2:32Speaker 2: I can read. I can read.
- 2:34Speaker 8: Anyways, I read a book, and not only did there
- 2:35Speaker 8: was no pictures, no pop-ups, there was actually words, and
- 2:38Speaker 8: lots of them. It stemmed from the whole controversy, like,
- 2:43Speaker 8: I don't know if it was like four or five
- 2:45Speaker 8: months ago. The, God, I just forgot his name. I
- 2:51Speaker 8: know Peter's in there somewhere and so is Gallagher. I
- 2:55Speaker 8: guess I could go in the other room and get them.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Peter Gallagher is a different actor, I believe. Peter Joseph Gallagher.
- 3:01Speaker 8: Yes, Peter Joseph Gallagher. He wrote this book called A
- 3:06Speaker 8: Little White Trip, I guess, semicolon, A Night in the
- 3:10Speaker 8: Pines or whatever. And he was trying to sue Joss
- 3:14Speaker 8: Whedon Saying that Joss Whedon had ripped off the idea
- 3:18Speaker 8: for Cabin in the Woods from his book. Saying that
- 3:22Speaker 8: there was way too many similarities for it to just
- 3:26Speaker 8: be a coincidence. So I don't know whatever happened to
- 3:28Speaker 8: the lawsuit. They just kind of got real big for
- 3:31Speaker 8: a second, then just kind of went away. So I'm
- 3:33Speaker 8: guessing nothing really happened. But I was like, okay, I'll
- 3:36Speaker 8: give this shit a try. And I'm like, as soon
- 3:39Speaker 8: as this whole lawsuit came out of nowhere, it's like
- 3:42Speaker 8: the book went from being like $ 3 on Amazon to
- 3:45Speaker 8: like $ 150 to $ 200 fucking dollars.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Scam.
- 3:49Speaker 8: No shit.
- 3:51Speaker 4: This dude might have just been driving up the price
- 3:53Speaker 4: of his own books. And then he was selling them
- 3:55Speaker 4: because he had like boxes of them in his garage.
- 3:57Speaker 2: This is totally a scam.
- 3:58Speaker 8: No, because he listed... He heard about this, I guess.
- 4:01Speaker 8: I don't know. I'm assuming because he opened up an
- 4:04Speaker 8: Amazon account like right when this happened and was selling
- 4:06Speaker 8: them at... Face value.
- 4:08Speaker 2: To like shut them down.
- 4:09Speaker 8: So he was selling them for like 15 bucks when
- 4:11Speaker 8: everybody else was trying to sell them for like 100,
- 4:12Speaker 8: you know, $ 200. How very Suicide Girls of it. But
- 4:16Speaker 8: you know, he was, you know, they were signed copies
- 4:19Speaker 8: and it's not a bad deal. It's, it's, It's a
- 4:22Speaker 8: good book. I'm not sure that I'd go so far
- 4:24Speaker 8: as to say that Joss Whedon ripped off the entire thing.
- 4:27Speaker 8: Should I describe what happens in the book to see
- 4:33Speaker 8: if it sounds anything like Cabin in the Woods to you?
- 4:35Speaker 4: Do we go enough into a spoilery area to throw
- 4:38Speaker 4: out a general literary spoiler warning?
- 4:41Speaker 8: Yeah, I think I'm going to.
- 4:42Speaker 2: All right.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Spoiler alert.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Get it going.
- 4:44Speaker 8: I guess I could give part of it, and then
- 4:46Speaker 8: when I get to the main end and be like,
- 4:48Speaker 8: major spoiler alert, don't listen if you intend to read,
- 4:51Speaker 8: which who listens to this read?
- 4:54Speaker 2: Who knows how to read?
- 4:56Speaker 8: I know. Anyways, it's five kids that are graduating from
- 4:59Speaker 8: high school.
- 5:01Speaker 2: All right. Five.
- 5:02Speaker 8: And they go to this festival, and they win a
- 5:05Speaker 8: prize that is a trip to this cabin that that
- 5:08Speaker 8: is in the woods in the pines ah see different
- 5:12Speaker 8: altogether whitewater pines exactly well and it's like one of
- 5:17Speaker 8: our main things was the names because in cabin in
- 5:20Speaker 8: the woods one of the jewels and dara are the
- 5:23Speaker 8: girls names.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yes i don't watch them forever.
- 5:27Speaker 8: Anyways in the book it's julie and dura which i'm
- 5:31Speaker 8: sorry dura That's a really bad name. Anyway, so that's
- 5:35Speaker 8: one of their main things, that there's five, that the
- 5:37Speaker 8: number of kids is the same, that some of the
- 5:38Speaker 8: names are kind of the same. Anyway, so the kids
- 5:40Speaker 8: leave for this cabin, and they get this big SUV
- 5:46Speaker 8: to go up there to, and then they get coupons
- 5:49Speaker 8: for this restaurant to go to, and while they're at
- 5:51Speaker 8: this restaurant, one of the waiters is like, oh, you're
- 5:53Speaker 8: going to this place. This cabin has a history. And
- 5:56Speaker 8: he starts telling them about, apparently, several years back, there
- 5:59Speaker 8: was a guy who killed his whole family. But then
- 6:03Speaker 8: he disappeared into the woods.
- 6:05Speaker 2: You kids stay away from that old house.
- 6:08Speaker 8: Pretty much. And they end up taking the wrong directions
- 6:11Speaker 8: and they end up at a house somewhere. And it's
- 6:12Speaker 8: pretty much the same story. Oh, crazy old Mr. I
- 6:16Speaker 8: can't remember the guy's name. Killed his whole family and
- 6:19Speaker 8: anybody who went looking for him got murdered too. And
- 6:22Speaker 8: they never found him. And he's still in the woods
- 6:25Speaker 8: to this day. Or some shit like that. Anyway, so
- 6:29Speaker 8: they get to the cabin and like, Four of them
- 6:32Speaker 8: go skiing because it was the whole point of the
- 6:35Speaker 8: ski trip in the woods is to go skiing.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Did they get stuck on a ski lift?
- 6:39Speaker 5: No.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And then how did they get down and wolves are involved?
- 6:41Speaker 2: That never happened.
- 6:41Speaker 8: Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Don't be silly. That
- 6:44Speaker 8: movie sucked. Let it go. Let it go. Anyway, so
- 6:51Speaker 8: four of them come back and the fifth guy's missing. Oh, no.
- 6:54Speaker 8: Where'd he go? So they go looking for the SUV
- 6:57Speaker 8: because they left the SUV to the one guy to
- 6:58Speaker 8: take a cab. I'm like, sorry, dude, I'm not going
- 7:00Speaker 8: to leave the one vehicle with you and then take
- 7:01Speaker 8: a cab. Anyway, so they find tracks out in the
- 7:04Speaker 8: woods and it's down and the truck is all destroyed
- 7:07Speaker 8: and they get in the truck and oh my God,
- 7:10Speaker 8: it's so bloody and there's an arm. Dun, dun, dun.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Do they do DNA testing to figure out whose arm
- 7:17Speaker 2: it was?
- 7:18Speaker 8: No, they can't make any phone calls because they're out
- 7:19Speaker 8: in the woods. So none of their phones actually work.
- 7:21Speaker 1: No, signal.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Signal. That's unusual these days.
- 7:24Speaker 8: That never happens. Anyway, so they go back to the
- 7:27Speaker 8: house and they're trying to figure out, oh my God,
- 7:29Speaker 8: what are we going to do? And then some guy
- 7:30Speaker 8: shows up and then they think it's the killer. And
- 7:32Speaker 8: then one by one, they all start getting killed horribly.
- 7:36Speaker 2: I'll be right back.
- 7:38Speaker 8: So then two of them, one of them gets killed
- 7:41Speaker 8: and then another one gets killed. And then there's the police,
- 7:44Speaker 8: but then the police are killed. That's how I get
- 7:48Speaker 8: to the main big spoiler.
- 7:49Speaker 2: I've never seen this in any of the movies. Cops
- 7:52Speaker 2: randomly get killed? That's not normal.
- 7:54Speaker 8: Should I get to the spoiler? The big spoiler alert?
- 7:57Speaker 2: Double up super spoiler alert.
- 8:00Speaker 8: The main character, who unlike Cabin in the Woods, is
- 8:03Speaker 8: a dude this time. Because that's a big difference. In
- 8:06Speaker 8: the movie, it was the chick.
- 8:08Speaker 2: I guess this is double spoiler if you also haven't
- 8:11Speaker 2: seen Cabin in the Woods.
- 8:12Speaker 8: The main character is a chick. It's not a big
- 8:14Speaker 8: spoiler alert.
- 8:15Speaker 2: There's chicks. Oh my god.
- 8:19Speaker 8: Anyways, the guy goes out and he's There's the bad
- 8:22Speaker 8: guy and then there's the main good guy and then
- 8:25Speaker 8: he shoots the bad guy. Oh my God. And then
- 8:28Speaker 8: the director comes out of the woods and the whole
- 8:31Speaker 8: thing has been the first live action, real fucking horror
- 8:36Speaker 8: movie and everybody's still alive. It was all fake. Nobody died.
- 8:41Speaker 8: Does this seem more like another movie we saw from
- 8:44Speaker 8: the seventies?
- 8:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:44Speaker 4: I was like, this doesn't turn out like cabin in
- 8:48Speaker 4: the woods as much as several other.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Movies that have kind of, done the same thing before.
- 8:53Speaker 8: I thought it was more of a rip off of
- 8:55Speaker 8: April Fool's Day.
- 8:57Speaker 5: That's 80s.
- 8:58Speaker 2: I thought it was more like 86 I think.
- 9:01Speaker 8: But anyway so it's like the whole thing and it's
- 9:03Speaker 8: like oh well it was all just the first reality
- 9:06Speaker 8: horror movie.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Which again haven't there been ones recently that have done that?
- 9:09Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Like Turning Reality Murder or maybe that's just a lot
- 9:13Speaker 4: of bad reality shows which are probably.
- 9:15Speaker 2: On right now.
- 9:17Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 9:17Speaker 4: It does feel like that is not all that original.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Assuming he wrote that, I mean, what year was it
- 9:23Speaker 4: when he wrote this book? 2010 or something?
- 9:26Speaker 8: It was before Cabin in the Woods.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Yeah, but I'm like, not like, I mean, reality TV
- 9:31Speaker 4: has been a huge thing for the last 20, 25
- 9:34Speaker 4: years now. It's kicked in since 90s, so it's like,
- 9:39Speaker 4: I feel like that angle is not all that original
- 9:42Speaker 4: and pulling the whole spin.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Again, I don't know that But does this all of
- 9:47Speaker 2: the same? Yeah.
- 9:49Speaker 8: No, does Joss ripping this off?
- 9:50Speaker 4: Either way, I'm saying I don't feel like those two
- 9:52Speaker 4: things are all that tied together.
- 9:54Speaker 8: All they were going for was the same amount of people,
- 9:56Speaker 8: a couple of the names are the same, and that
- 9:59Speaker 8: certain aspects. of the story are led to follow certain paths.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Yeah, that's every screenplay.
- 10:04Speaker 8: Well, I mean, in the movie, each character, certain things
- 10:08Speaker 8: are put in place to make them do certain things.
- 10:11Speaker 8: Like we're in Cabin in the Woods, there's like, they
- 10:14Speaker 8: do the gas thing to make them loopy, or they
- 10:18Speaker 8: do the... Certain things that just kind of lead where
- 10:21Speaker 8: the story goes. Whereas in this one, there were other
- 10:23Speaker 8: things in the book. There were certain things that led
- 10:25Speaker 8: the characters in certain directions.
- 10:28Speaker 2: I think they're still kind of pushing it on this one. Yeah,
- 10:31Speaker 2: I'm saying. Is there some similarities? Yeah. Is there enough
- 10:35Speaker 2: to have a whole real legit lawsuit?
- 10:38Speaker 8: That's why I'm not really sure whatever happened with the lawsuit.
- 10:40Speaker 8: Because I'm kind of hoping it just kind of fell
- 10:41Speaker 8: through the cracks. But I mean, it worked because I
- 10:44Speaker 8: would have never heard of this book. I had never
- 10:46Speaker 8: heard of this book. I'd never heard of the guy
- 10:47Speaker 8: who wrote it. I don't know if he's written anything
- 10:50Speaker 8: else from what I understand. For the most part, when
- 10:52Speaker 8: he first started out, he was selling the book on
- 10:55Speaker 8: the boardwalks in Santa Monica or something like that. So,
- 10:59Speaker 8: I mean, it's a good book. I just ruined it
- 11:01Speaker 8: for everybody out there.
- 11:03Speaker 2: They kept listening after the Super Devil spoiler.
- 11:05Speaker 8: Yeah, you brought it on yourself. Anyways, I mean, it's
- 11:08Speaker 8: a really good book. I liked the book.
- 11:11Speaker 2: It's not.
- 11:11Speaker 8: I wouldn't so much say that Cabin in the Woods
- 11:14Speaker 8: ripped it off so much as it ripped off other
- 11:16Speaker 8: elements from other movies.
- 11:19Speaker 2: And, I mean, they're both kind of ripping off Scooby-Doo, right?
- 11:22Speaker 8: Kind of, pretty much.
- 11:22Speaker 2: That's what the entirety of Cabin in the Woods, at
- 11:25Speaker 2: least the whole up until the big reveal, I'm like,
- 11:27Speaker 2: it all just seems like a bad episode of Scooby-Doo.
- 11:29Speaker 8: I mean, in the book, they were all kind of
- 11:31Speaker 8: getting stoned. So, I mean, it's not like there was drugs.
- 11:34Speaker 8: There was a moose head instead of a wolf head.
- 11:36Speaker 8: Was it a wolf head?
- 11:37Speaker 2: That's just evil. That's the moose head is Evil Day.
- 11:40Speaker 8: Oh, there was a moose head that was just kind
- 11:42Speaker 8: of there.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Oh, he didn't start laughing at him or anything?
- 11:45Speaker 8: No, but there were cameras playing all throughout the house,
- 11:47Speaker 8: so they had shots of everything, and the whole winning
- 11:49Speaker 8: the trip was rigged because they wanted that certain group
- 11:53Speaker 8: of people that had the whole, every stereotype, you know.
- 11:56Speaker 8: So they had the athletes, and they had the main stoner.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Kind of going back to what you did last summer, too,
- 12:04Speaker 2: that I brought up recently.
- 12:06Speaker 8: But yeah, so I read a book, motherfuckers.
- 12:10Speaker 2: We're all mighty impressed.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I know.
- 12:12Speaker 2: At your reading comprehension skills.
- 12:14Speaker 8: The book went on a little bit further than it
- 12:15Speaker 8: needed to because it went on to the whole, oh, yeah,
- 12:17Speaker 8: we sued them. We got a lot of money. We
- 12:18Speaker 8: went off to live in the woods. We got a
- 12:20Speaker 8: lot of money and everything. I just ruined it more
- 12:23Speaker 8: for you. They all lived happily ever after.
- 12:26Speaker 5: Dun, dun, dun.
- 12:28Speaker 8: I really did. I just drug that part out way
- 12:30Speaker 8: too long. I'm just like, okay, whatever. Pretty much. By
- 12:34Speaker 8: then I'm like, I wanted some of these people to
- 12:36Speaker 8: be dead.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:38Speaker 8: It's like when we watched April Fool's Day, I'm like,
- 12:40Speaker 8: I was rooting for all them people that have been dead.
- 12:42Speaker 8: And at the very end, I'm like, you fucking movie.
- 12:45Speaker 8: You made me mad.
- 12:47Speaker 2: See, you came after the jump. I told you. I
- 12:51Speaker 2: pinned that down in our monumental groundbreaking.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Episode that I declared that April Fool's Day was the
- 12:58Speaker 4: jump the shark moment in horror movies. And we got
- 13:00Speaker 4: to that point where people were just, no, they all
- 13:04Speaker 4: called bullshit.
- 13:04Speaker 2: They're like, no, no, we're not doing that anymore. And
- 13:07Speaker 2: after that, the slashers kind of died off. And they
- 13:09Speaker 2: didn't really reappear until Scream rebooted it. So, I'm telling you,
- 13:13Speaker 2: that's my theory.
- 13:14Speaker 8: I love slasher movies. Have you seen the trailer for
- 13:15Speaker 8: the Scream TV show?
- 13:17Speaker 5: Yes.
- 13:17Speaker 8: I love Bella Thorne.
- 13:19Speaker 4: I think that's a good move on her part. I
- 13:22Speaker 4: have to say, it's getting a lot of attention. And
- 13:24Speaker 4: it's all kind of focused around her. So, I think
- 13:27Speaker 4: that's a pretty good move.
- 13:27Speaker 8: She's probably going to die then, right?
- 13:29Speaker 2: I think they're all going to die.
- 13:30Speaker 8: They're going to Drew Barrymore her ass, aren't they?
- 13:33Speaker 4: Well, just the way they're building it up is like,
- 13:35Speaker 4: These are great characters. You want to come in every
- 13:37Speaker 4: week and watch them. But really, you just want to
- 13:38Speaker 4: watch them die. So I think they're not going to
- 13:40Speaker 4: have a problem killing off a lot.
- 13:41Speaker 5: Of the regulars.
- 13:42Speaker 8: I'm going to assume you haven't read any books to
- 13:44Speaker 8: talk about Derry and Misty's book hour. No, exactly.
- 13:50Speaker 2: You showed me a Nessie book.
- 13:52Speaker 8: I did. It was pretty exciting. Nessie in my own
- 13:55Speaker 8: story or my own words or some shit like that.
- 13:57Speaker 2: So I looked at the pictures in that book.
- 14:00Speaker 8: That was pretty exciting.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so.
- 14:02Speaker 8: I like that book. It's a good story.
- 14:06Speaker 2: But I have watched some things. I watched Project Almanac.
- 14:11Speaker 8: No idea what that is.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I think you would yell at it a lot if
- 14:15Speaker 2: that helps.
- 14:16Speaker 8: I watch Top Gear.
- 14:19Speaker 2: We can't go to you because you'll just talk about
- 14:20Speaker 2: Top Gear somewhere.
- 14:21Speaker 4: I will.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Project Almanac is what would happen if you gave a
- 14:26Speaker 2: bunch of dorky high school kids the ability to travel
- 14:29Speaker 2: through time.
- 14:29Speaker 8: I had trouble.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I'll go ahead and throw it out there.
- 14:32Speaker 4: I'm assuming you don't care about spoilers because you normally
- 14:35Speaker 4: don't care. But, yeah, spoiler alert on this one, but
- 14:38Speaker 4: really it's just going to be me poking holes in
- 14:42Speaker 4: not even the plot as much as the screenwriting. In
- 14:46Speaker 4: a way, there are moments that I think are kind
- 14:48Speaker 4: of effective, but there's also times like, again, just being
- 14:54Speaker 4: just enough of a sci-fi nerd that I like a
- 14:57Speaker 4: lot of time travel movies. So I'm like, when the
- 14:59Speaker 4: very first thing they do When they go back and
- 15:02Speaker 4: first of all, they spend a hell of a lot
- 15:03Speaker 4: of time trying to build this machine that like his
- 15:06Speaker 4: dad was a scientist before he died. And then like
- 15:09Speaker 4: now they find this stuff in his basement. And then
- 15:11Speaker 4: he was sort of kind of half working for NASA
- 15:14Speaker 4: or something, but they never really figure out what was
- 15:16Speaker 4: going on there. So they they devote like a third
- 15:19Speaker 4: of the movie to them trying to make this thing
- 15:21Speaker 4: work with like the random stuff that they like.
- 15:23Speaker 8: Was there a flux capacitor?
- 15:24Speaker 4: They had to go, like, steal, like, specific stuff that
- 15:28Speaker 4: they needed from school, and then they're borrowing some girl's
- 15:31Speaker 4: car battery. Like, it's so slapped together anyway.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Like, okay, we're totally buying that they built this time machine.
- 15:38Speaker 2: But once they use it, what's the first thing they do?
- 15:41Speaker 2: Go find the other version of one.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Of themselves so they can mess with him. Isn't that
- 15:47Speaker 4: like time travel 101? Don't you like not.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Interact with yourself? You're going to fuck up the time continuum.
- 15:51Speaker 8: You're going to fuck up the time space continuum. The
- 15:52Speaker 8: space time continuum will be fucked. You don't do that.
- 15:55Speaker 2: The very first thing they do. He's like, let's go
- 15:57Speaker 2: to my house. And then he goes and he's like
- 15:59Speaker 2: messing with himself.
- 16:00Speaker 8: I watched enough Doctor Who to know that's a bad idea.
- 16:02Speaker 2: I'm telling you.
- 16:03Speaker 5: That was my.
- 16:03Speaker 2: I was like, guys, right off the bat, you're totally
- 16:05Speaker 2: messing things up. Then it becomes, okay, well, at least
- 16:09Speaker 2: if you're going back, you're traveling through time, you're going
- 16:12Speaker 2: to do something important, right?
- 16:14Speaker 4: Like.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Make that annoying girl at school that made you look
- 16:19Speaker 2: stupid look even more stupid.
- 16:21Speaker 8: If you had a time machine, what would the first
- 16:22Speaker 8: thing you would do go?
- 16:24Speaker 4: Make people look stupid but that's not the point the
- 16:28Speaker 4: point is these dorky kids like they were like i
- 16:31Speaker 4: totally blew my history exam i'm gonna go back in
- 16:34Speaker 4: time and ace that exam stupid and then like they
- 16:36Speaker 4: can't even get it right so they're going back in
- 16:38Speaker 4: time multiple times just to take care of an exam
- 16:43Speaker 4: i don't know i was.
- 16:44Speaker 8: Like i would go back in time and get hitler
- 16:45Speaker 8: a wedgie it's.
- 16:48Speaker 4: Your welcome world the ultimate question has been answered.
- 16:52Speaker 8: An atomic wedgie.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Ooh, that's kind of.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Fitting, I suppose.
- 16:59Speaker 4: But, okay, then this is the thing that kills me
- 17:04Speaker 4: the most. And then I'll have sort of a good
- 17:05Speaker 4: thing to say.
- 17:08Speaker 8: I'd go back in time and tell Corey Haim to
- 17:10Speaker 8: not hang out with Corey Feldman.
- 17:11Speaker 2: That's actually good advice.
- 17:13Speaker 8: He would probably still be alive. We would not have
- 17:15Speaker 8: license to drive, though. And I'm not sure I'd be
- 17:17Speaker 8: okay with that world.
- 17:18Speaker 4: Maybe right after they make licensure, I'd be like, dude,
- 17:21Speaker 4: this guy is really bringing you down.
- 17:22Speaker 2: You might want to ditch him.
- 17:24Speaker 8: Before Last Resort comes out anyways.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Find him some other up-and-coming Hollywood star that's not doing drugs.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Oh, wait, we're in trouble.
- 17:30Speaker 8: Anyway. He could go ahead. I don't know. I can't.
- 17:35Speaker 2: All of them at that.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Point were having a terrible time. So anybody that's made
- 17:39Speaker 4: it through, more power to you.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Congratulations.
- 17:41Speaker 4: So here's my main thing within the plot of our
- 17:45Speaker 4: time travel movie here.
- 17:47Speaker 2: I don't even think this is a spoiler because it's
- 17:49Speaker 2: just ridiculous. So here's what they do. They've got the
- 17:53Speaker 2: power to go back in time. So you know what
- 17:55Speaker 2: they do? They go to Lollapalooza.
- 18:00Speaker 8: Was it the year that the Beastie Boys were there?
- 18:02Speaker 8: Because I could totally see that then.
- 18:03Speaker 2: It doesn't matter. They're not even there to see any.
- 18:05Speaker 2: It's like go back in time and see people at
- 18:08Speaker 2: Woodstock or something. Like they go back to six months
- 18:10Speaker 2: before to go to Lollapalooza.
- 18:13Speaker 8: Well, if it was the year the Beastie Boys were there,
- 18:14Speaker 8: I could totally understand that then.
- 18:15Speaker 2: And they do the same things that you could do
- 18:17Speaker 2: at any. Like you could just go six months from now.
- 18:20Speaker 8: You can't go see the Beastie Boys anymore.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Sure you could. They'll just replace him with somebody.
- 18:25Speaker 8: No.
- 18:26Speaker 2: It'll be Dick Sargent. And he'll come in and he'll
- 18:30Speaker 2: be like, what up?
- 18:33Speaker 4: But so, yeah, they that and they spend it's at
- 18:38Speaker 4: least 15 to 20 minutes of the plot hanging out.
- 18:41Speaker 4: at the concert, doing things that you could normally do
- 18:45Speaker 4: at any large music festival.
- 18:47Speaker 8: I would at least go back to like 86 and
- 18:49Speaker 8: see Guns N' Roses in LA.
- 18:50Speaker 4: I mean, that would be ridiculous and frivolous, but at
- 18:53Speaker 4: least there would be some novelty to it.
- 18:55Speaker 8: I have nothing if not ridiculous and frivolous.
- 18:58Speaker 5: That's true.
- 18:59Speaker 4: But like, it's just, six months ago and they aren't
- 19:02Speaker 4: even paying attention to like anybody in particular. They're just
- 19:05Speaker 4: there to hang out and do all the goofy stuff
- 19:06Speaker 4: you do at a music festival. And I'm like, or
- 19:08Speaker 4: you could wait six months and do it at the
- 19:10Speaker 4: new one.
- 19:11Speaker 2: You don't need a time machine to do this. The
- 19:14Speaker 2: closest thing is they bought backstage passes off of eBay
- 19:18Speaker 2: for nothing afterwards.
- 19:19Speaker 4: I guess that's the big woohoo for going back in
- 19:22Speaker 4: time six months to go to a concert that you missed.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Darn, I missed this concert. Let's use our time. I
- 19:28Speaker 2: don't know. That part annoyed the piss out of me.
- 19:31Speaker 8: This movie sounds stupid. I don't want to see this
- 19:32Speaker 8: movie ever.
- 19:33Speaker 4: Mostly, I just feel like the whole thing was sponsored
- 19:36Speaker 4: by Lollapalooza.
- 19:38Speaker 2: I mean, really. It's a 15 to 20 minute commercial.
- 19:41Speaker 4: It is the most perfect time in their life in
- 19:43Speaker 4: this span of time. like it is so awesome and
- 19:46Speaker 4: they're seeing all these bands and like i was just
- 19:48Speaker 4: like this is just a big check written to you
- 19:50Speaker 4: guys to make this movie which i guess shouldn't be
- 19:53Speaker 4: a surprise because at the very beginning it does tell
- 19:55Speaker 4: you it's an mtv films.
- 19:56Speaker 2: So like i don't think they're above doing that sort
- 19:59Speaker 2: of thing.
- 19:59Speaker 4: So that should have tipped me off oh wait i
- 20:01Speaker 4: already knew that anyway and i still watched it so
- 20:04Speaker 4: you brought it on yourself i did the only thing
- 20:08Speaker 4: i thought was kind of interesting well the main kid's
- 20:11Speaker 4: not bad actually so he's kind of cool and i
- 20:13Speaker 4: could see him almost going on to do other stuff
- 20:15Speaker 4: and the girl that he's into is like the hot
- 20:17Speaker 4: girl in school so she's pretty i'm sure she'll do
- 20:19Speaker 4: more stuff but what i thought was almost kind of
- 20:21Speaker 4: real was the the thing that he does that because
- 20:25Speaker 4: again you're gonna start messing stuff up with time travel
- 20:27Speaker 4: and the thing that it makes him like break his
- 20:29Speaker 4: own rules that he sets and totally start messing up
- 20:34Speaker 4: everything and it's spiraling out of control is the girl It's.
- 20:37Speaker 2: All relationshipy stuff.
- 20:39Speaker 8: Does she die?
- 20:40Speaker 2: No, it's like he had that, again, everything is lightweight
- 20:43Speaker 2: and frivolous.
- 20:43Speaker 4: He had that moment where they got to where it
- 20:46Speaker 4: was the moment and like this would have made their
- 20:48Speaker 4: whole relationship and he blows it. And he realizes that
- 20:52Speaker 4: and he thinks about it and he thinks about it
- 20:53Speaker 4: and he drives himself crazy and he breaks his own
- 20:56Speaker 4: rules to go back in time and change that moment
- 20:58Speaker 4: so that she'll be into him. And I'm like, that
- 21:01Speaker 4: part is kind of real because that's the stuff somebody
- 21:04Speaker 4: would do.
- 21:04Speaker 2: I got that part. I'm like, yep, that would happen.
- 21:07Speaker 4: That's the kind of thing that will unravel the space-time continuum,
- 21:10Speaker 4: just trying to.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Hook up with somebody. That was the part I was
- 21:15Speaker 2: okay with, because that seemed real. That's how human nature works.
- 21:19Speaker 2: All we're trying to do.
- 21:20Speaker 5: Is hook up, man.
- 21:21Speaker 4: We're just trying to find a useful relationship. If we
- 21:24Speaker 4: have to take down time and space to do it,
- 21:26Speaker 4: that's a small price to pay. So, definitely watch Project Omen.
- 21:33Speaker 8: I don't know that I want to. That seems aggravating.
- 21:35Speaker 2: It is kind of aggravating. But actually, the most accurate,
- 21:39Speaker 2: I should have gotten to the very first thing.
- 21:41Speaker 4: It's also found footage verite style, which also annoys me.
- 21:45Speaker 8: Anyways, I didn't watch anything else. I did watch, well,
- 21:48Speaker 8: we did watch some ancient aliens and Esa to West wheels.
- 21:52Speaker 2: That guy's goofy.
- 21:53Speaker 8: That guy's crazy. I could listen to that guy talk
- 21:56Speaker 8: for hours just so I can sit back later and
- 21:58Speaker 8: talk about all the things he said wrong.
- 22:00Speaker 2: And you hung out with him. I did. There's a
- 22:02Speaker 2: picture of you and his crazy, crazy hair.
- 22:04Speaker 8: And a picture of him with his hair. Also wearing
- 22:07Speaker 8: a shirt that then has a picture of him.
- 22:09Speaker 2: And his hair.
- 22:10Speaker 8: On it. I don't know his name. Giorgio.
- 22:14Speaker 5: Giorgio.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Tsoukalos?
- 22:15Speaker 8: Tsoukalos?
- 22:17Speaker 4: I hear someone talk to me about him all the
- 22:19Speaker 4: time and she just calls him Giorgio.
- 22:22Speaker 8: He says, I did have a dream.
- 22:27Speaker 4: All right, that will lead us into our big adventure
- 22:29Speaker 4: of the day because it's sort of, maybe it's a premonition.
- 22:33Speaker 4: Maybe you've already traveled in time and you've gone back
- 22:35Speaker 4: to hang out with celebrities.
- 22:38Speaker 5: Anyway, go ahead.
- 22:39Speaker 8: Anyways, yes, I had a dream the other night. It was,
- 22:41Speaker 8: I was at a convention. I don't particularly know what
- 22:44Speaker 8: convention it was. In my dream, they're all just one
- 22:46Speaker 8: big convention.
- 22:47Speaker 2: In the real world, they've kind of become, with minor exceptions,
- 22:50Speaker 2: a lot of them have become one big convention.
- 22:53Speaker 8: Anyways, I was at this convention, and Greg Schaefer, is
- 22:57Speaker 8: it Schaefer? Schaefer?
- 22:58Speaker 2: Craig Schaefer?
- 23:00Speaker 8: Anyways, the guy from Nightbreed.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Craig Schaefer?
- 23:05Speaker 8: Craig Schaefer? I don't know. Boone from Nightbreed. Has he
- 23:11Speaker 8: said anything else?
- 23:12Speaker 4: Yeah, he's in That Was Then, This Is Now. He
- 23:15Speaker 4: was in One Tree Hill.
- 23:17Speaker 8: He was in Hellraiser 5, I think.
- 23:20Speaker 2: He was in one of my personal favorite films, Some
- 23:24Speaker 2: Kind of Wonderful. He's in a lot of stuff.
- 23:26Speaker 8: What was that one where he sang? It was a musical.
- 23:29Speaker 8: It was horrible. It was an early one. It was fabulous.
- 23:35Speaker 8: Look it up real quick. We'll pause. Hold on a second.
- 23:38Speaker 8: And that guy sent you a video of it. It's
- 23:39Speaker 8: him and he's walking down the halls and in there's
- 23:41Speaker 8: a panther.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Oh, God, you did send that to me. Why did
- 23:43Speaker 2: you send that to me? Haven't I suffered enough? I
- 23:45Speaker 2: had to watch Project Almanac.
- 23:47Speaker 8: Go back to the beginning. Way back in the beginning.
- 23:51Speaker 8: Back in the early, early days.
- 23:52Speaker 2: One life to live. It was one life to... Oh, damn.
- 23:57Speaker 2: The Voyage of the Rock Aliens.
- 23:59Speaker 8: Hells yes. Voyage of the Rock Aliens.
- 24:01Speaker 2: I believe that is his first feature film after a
- 24:04Speaker 2: stint on the Hamptons.
- 24:06Speaker 8: And if you have not seen at least the trailer
- 24:09Speaker 8: or the segments where he sings, you should look it up.
- 24:12Speaker 8: It's pretty epic. But anyways, in my dream, he was
- 24:15Speaker 8: at his table and he was doing arts and crafts.
- 24:18Speaker 8: And I had to help him. He asked for my assistance.
- 24:21Speaker 2: It does seem like he would need help probably. Or
- 24:23Speaker 2: at least supervision.
- 24:24Speaker 7: I did.
- 24:24Speaker 8: I had to help him hold the beads. And then
- 24:26Speaker 8: I had to hold stuff while the glue dried because.
- 24:29Speaker 4: It was beads and not beans, right?
- 24:31Speaker 3: No beads.
- 24:31Speaker 8: It was beads. He was stringing them together.
- 24:33Speaker 2: For going back to grade school, you had a lot
- 24:35Speaker 2: of bean art, too.
- 24:37Speaker 8: No, he was stringing some beads together, and I had
- 24:39Speaker 8: to hold the beads for him. He was gluing. I
- 24:41Speaker 8: think it involved cotton balls or something. It was very
- 24:46Speaker 8: important that I held the cotton balls in specific places
- 24:48Speaker 8: until the glue dried, or the art project was just
- 24:51Speaker 8: not going to go well.
- 24:55Speaker 2: I can see all this happening, kind of, actually.
- 24:58Speaker 8: He was not wearing his fringy jacket, though.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Where's Bandana?
- 25:00Speaker 8: No, where's no Bandana?
- 25:01Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 25:02Speaker 8: I know.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Sadness.
- 25:04Speaker 8: But that was my dream. Ta-da! That's no Marlena moment
- 25:08Speaker 8: or anything. I don't know.
- 25:10Speaker 2: I can see yours happening.
- 25:12Speaker 8: I would totally help him with art projects. Not everybody, though,
- 25:16Speaker 8: because some people would probably piss me off. But I
- 25:18Speaker 8: would help Boone from Nightbreed with arts and crafts.
- 25:22Speaker 4: Would they be like creepy Clive Barker-y kind of arts
- 25:26Speaker 4: and crafts? You'd be done and it'd look like a
- 25:28Speaker 4: Clive Barker painting and you'd be like, ah! How did
- 25:30Speaker 4: we make that?
- 25:31Speaker 8: I don't know. I think it involved clouds because there
- 25:33Speaker 8: was cotton balls.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Maybe it was just 3D clouds.
- 25:36Speaker 8: Fancy.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Jumping off the page at you.
- 25:39Speaker 8: Hand me my watered down beverage, please.
- 25:42Speaker 3: I am thirsty.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Now it's time for a beverage break. You know, there's
- 25:46Speaker 4: not a man, woman, or a child alive who doesn't
- 25:48Speaker 4: enjoy a tasty beverage.
- 25:50Speaker 8: Oh, it's not delicious any longer.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Not brought to you by Her Watered Down Beverage.
- 25:56Speaker 6: For refreshment.
- 25:57Speaker 5: Refreshment.
- 25:59Speaker 6: For your enjoyment, there's hot fresh popcorn, tempting delicious hot dogs,
- 26:05Speaker 6: and so many kinds of ice cream. And of course,
- 26:08Speaker 6: sparkling delicious ice cold Coca-Cola for everybody at the refreshment
- 26:14Speaker 6: counter now. Remember, your favorite snack will taste especially good
- 26:20Speaker 6: with world famous ice cold Coca-Cola.

- 26:56Speaker 2: Everybody knows that the dice are loaded. Everybody rolls with
- 27:02Speaker 2: their fingers crossed.
- 27:05Speaker 5: Think about it. Everything's polluted. The environment, the government, the schools,
- 27:11Speaker 5: you name it.
- 27:13Speaker 3: We're on 92 FM tonight.
- 27:15Speaker 2: It feels like a nice, clean little band.
- 27:17Speaker 3: No one else is using it.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Price is right.
- 27:19Speaker 5: Are you listening to this?
- 27:21Speaker 2: Yeah, of course I'm listening. There's nothing to do anymore.
- 27:25Speaker 5: And all the great.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Themes have been used up, turned into theme parks.
- 27:29Speaker 6: So I don't really find it exactly cheerful to be
- 27:31Speaker 6: living in a totally, like, exhausted decade where there's nothing
- 27:34Speaker 6: to look forward to and no.
- 27:36Speaker 5: One to look up to.
- 27:37Speaker 3: He's got a pirate radio station. Nobody knows who he is.
- 27:41Speaker 7: I could be that anonymous nerd sitting across from you.
- 27:44Speaker 2: And when you turn around, he just looks away.
- 27:49Speaker 5: He never looks back at you again.
- 27:53Speaker 6: This is a song for the 90s.
- 27:55Speaker 8: Welcome to Doreen's Mitchell. May I take your order, please? Yeah.
- 28:02Speaker 8: That was deep. This radio person is the whole problem.
- 28:08Speaker 8: Are we going to allow this guy to be heard
- 28:10Speaker 8: by anyone who can turn a dial? And he's trying
- 28:16Speaker 8: to tell you that there's something wrong with this school.
- 28:19Speaker 3: You're not supposed to be here.
- 28:21Speaker 5: What do you want to slam me? Get off the bus.
- 28:23Speaker 6: Get off!
- 28:25Speaker 2: This is out of control.
- 28:28Speaker 5: Why not do something crazy?
- 28:29Speaker 6: It makes a hell of a lot more sense than blowing.
- 28:31Speaker 8: Your brains out.
- 28:32Speaker 3: FCC, you know what that means?
- 28:35Speaker 6: This phone call has been traced.
- 28:37Speaker 7: This is my life you're screwing around with.
- 28:39Speaker 6: Here, you know? Not anymore, it isn't.
- 28:41Speaker 8: This is everyone's life, Mark.
- 28:42Speaker 3: You can't leave it like this.

- 29:54Speaker 5: answered in the movies.
- 29:57Speaker 8: And now, on with the show.
- 30:02Speaker 7: So speaking of conventions, hey, what did we do?
- 30:05Speaker 8: We went to a convention?
- 30:09Speaker 5: We went to one of those convention type things.
- 30:12Speaker 4: Today?
- 30:12Speaker 5: We just finished.
- 30:15Speaker 2: The road trip back.
- 30:17Speaker 5: We did.
- 30:29Speaker 2: May or may have not gotten Jack in the Box.
- 30:32Speaker 8: We did. We totally did. And then I went to
- 30:34Speaker 8: a bookstore and bought all kinds of books and it
- 30:35Speaker 8: was a good day.
- 30:37Speaker 3: It was entertaining.
- 30:38Speaker 2: But we did a couple of other things.
- 30:39Speaker 8: What did we do?
- 30:41Speaker 2: I guess we should go to yours first.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Oh, gee.
- 30:45Speaker 8: The very first thing I was so excited about this
- 30:47Speaker 8: convention was it was somebody's very first convention appearance from
- 30:51Speaker 8: what I understand. But Jack knows where he was there.
- 30:54Speaker 8: And I was like, oh my God, Jack knows where
- 30:56Speaker 8: he's going to be there. And I was so excited
- 30:57Speaker 8: and everybody else was like, Except for me.
- 31:00Speaker 2: I was like, you mean Dead at 21's Jack Noseworthy?
- 31:03Speaker 8: I know.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Star of the Brady Bunch movie?
- 31:06Speaker 8: Idle Hands?
- 31:07Speaker 4: U571?
- 31:07Speaker 1: UB40?
- 31:08Speaker 8: No, wait.
- 31:11Speaker 2: I kept calling it UB40 earlier. And then he wouldn't
- 31:14Speaker 2: sing hits from UB40.
- 31:15Speaker 8: I wonder why. Actually, you didn't ask him. He might have.
- 31:18Speaker 2: He might have, actually. He was very personable.
- 31:21Speaker 8: He was the nicest. He was so incredibly delightful. I
- 31:23Speaker 8: just wanted to hug him and carry him around. I'd
- 31:25Speaker 8: give him piggyback rides. You might be able to.
- 31:28Speaker 2: He's not like a giant dude. He was about your size.
- 31:31Speaker 8: No, I'm way bigger than him. I probably weigh like
- 31:34Speaker 8: at least 50% of him. Like extra.
- 31:38Speaker 2: I'm not buying any of this. But he was kind
- 31:40Speaker 2: of awesome.
- 31:41Speaker 8: He was incredibly awesome. He was so nice and so friendly.
- 31:44Speaker 8: But then like you mentioned, this was probably his first convention.
- 31:47Speaker 8: So he hasn't had to deal with this shit for
- 31:49Speaker 8: very many years. Give him about like seven or eight years.
- 31:52Speaker 8: He'd be like, fuck all you people.
- 31:53Speaker 2: He hasn't been beaten down yet like we have.
- 31:56Speaker 3: But.
- 31:57Speaker 8: I started off this way.
- 31:59Speaker 2: He was, yeah, he was really excited to be there.
- 32:02Speaker 2: He likes Twitter. He wanted everybody to tweet the pictures.
- 32:04Speaker 8: He was so, yeah, he was so excited about this.
- 32:07Speaker 8: He let me take a selfie because I got like
- 32:09Speaker 8: the regular picture, like straightforward. Then I have like five
- 32:11Speaker 8: chins because I'm fatty. So I'm like, no, we must
- 32:15Speaker 8: do the above head, like the official selfie angle.
- 32:18Speaker 2: I mean, not that everybody's not doing it in their
- 32:20Speaker 2: selfie shots on their pages.
- 32:22Speaker 4: But I like that you at least out it for
- 32:24Speaker 4: the reason because there are a lot of girls out there.
- 32:27Speaker 2: I just see girls on the sites that I'm on.
- 32:29Speaker 2: But I notice a lot of them from that same angle.
- 32:32Speaker 4: And it's funny that nobody owns up to why they're
- 32:35Speaker 4: always conveniently at that angle.
- 32:38Speaker 8: I tell you exactly why. I do it that way
- 32:40Speaker 8: so you don't have all the neck rolls right here.
- 32:42Speaker 8: Because if you get it from here, it's like you're
- 32:44Speaker 8: earthwarming it and shit. And you've got to get it
- 32:46Speaker 8: from up here so that you can't see all of
- 32:48Speaker 8: the chins. It helps everybody. It's a good angle.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Fun facts for you guys. I know.
- 32:55Speaker 8: I'm helping everybody. This is a public service announcement. Upper angle.
- 33:00Speaker 8: Facing down. Good times.
- 33:02Speaker 3: So, yeah.
- 33:03Speaker 8: He was. I'm disappointed that he did not have any
- 33:06Speaker 8: pictures from Idle Hands.
- 33:07Speaker 2: And you told him.
- 33:09Speaker 3: I did.
- 33:10Speaker 8: I was so nervous. I was so afraid to talk
- 33:12Speaker 8: to him. Because he seemed like he was talking to everybody.
- 33:14Speaker 8: And I have anxiety issues. So, I'm like, if I
- 33:16Speaker 8: wait until there's more people, maybe he won't talk to me.
- 33:19Speaker 8: And I feel bad for saying that. Because after talking
- 33:21Speaker 8: to him. He seems so nice, even though I'm pretty
- 33:23Speaker 8: sure he hates me and thinks I'm retarded or something.
- 33:25Speaker 2: That's not true. He liked you all kinds.
- 33:27Speaker 8: Anyways, I'm pretty sure he was making fun of me
- 33:29Speaker 8: because- He was not. He was. Because he was like, yeah,
- 33:33Speaker 8: I don't talk much. And he kept on going about
- 33:36Speaker 8: how he's not a very talkative person. And I'm like,
- 33:38Speaker 8: oh my God, me neither. And he's like, yeah, I'm
- 33:40Speaker 8: totally lying. I'm like, I was there right with you.
- 33:43Speaker 2: You do realize he's a performer, right?
- 33:45Speaker 1: I know.
- 33:45Speaker 2: He's probably kind of got a public.
- 33:47Speaker 8: But he hasn't done anything recently, and he's not really
- 33:49Speaker 8: been a public figure.
- 33:50Speaker 2: He's still like a performer, though. I think most of
- 33:52Speaker 2: the guys who get into theater and film.
- 33:55Speaker 8: He's probably laughing at me right now.
- 33:57Speaker 2: I don't buy that. But I think they're usually kind
- 33:59Speaker 2: of outgoing, at least to the extent of being talkative.
- 34:02Speaker 2: It's not across the board, but I'd say a lot
- 34:04Speaker 2: of them are.
- 34:05Speaker 8: He was so delightful.
- 34:06Speaker 2: He was very delightful.
- 34:07Speaker 4: And.
- 34:08Speaker 2: I already planted the seed. I invited him to come on.
- 34:11Speaker 2: I was like, this is your first one. We'll leave
- 34:13Speaker 2: you alone a little bit. But if he likes telling
- 34:16Speaker 2: his stories.
- 34:16Speaker 8: His assistant mocked my happy dance.
- 34:18Speaker 2: I think she was just impressed that there was a
- 34:20Speaker 2: happy dance.
- 34:20Speaker 8: There was a plethora of happy dances.
- 34:22Speaker 2: There was a lot of happy dances.
- 34:23Speaker 8: I was very happy.
- 34:24Speaker 4: There was a happy dance when he wasn't even at
- 34:25Speaker 4: the table yet. He was just coming back to the
- 34:27Speaker 4: table and you did a happy dance.
- 34:28Speaker 8: I did the happy dance before he even came back
- 34:30Speaker 8: because I could look at the pictures without feeling like
- 34:33Speaker 8: he was there looking at me.
- 34:34Speaker 4: I just thought it was sad that she, like, seemed
- 34:37Speaker 4: impressed that i knew i had immediately id'd dead at
- 34:39Speaker 4: 21 i'm like.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Isn't that what a lot of people know him from like.
- 34:43Speaker 4: I guess maybe not i have no people i have
- 34:45Speaker 4: no idea what the other pictures were from i know
- 34:47Speaker 4: that's why to me that was the main one but
- 34:49Speaker 4: like i don't know she was just like oh you
- 34:51Speaker 4: know that one i'm like yeah.
- 34:53Speaker 2: I was like why would i not know dead at.
- 34:54Speaker 4: 21 come on now exactly mtv films we've already said
- 34:57Speaker 4: the quality things that oh wait.
- 34:59Speaker 8: I asked him Why that shit is not on DVD.
- 35:02Speaker 2: And I told you the answer.
- 35:03Speaker 3: I know.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Music rights. It's always music rights.
- 35:06Speaker 8: He didn't seem to know.
- 35:07Speaker 3: He didn't really.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Yeah. At the beginning, he was like, well, I don't know.
- 35:09Speaker 2: For a while, there was highlights on YouTube. And I
- 35:11Speaker 2: was like, yeah, music rights. I was like, it's always
- 35:13Speaker 2: music rights, especially with early MTV stuff. Because they had
- 35:17Speaker 2: no reason to.
- 35:17Speaker 5: Worry about it.
- 35:18Speaker 8: That's why it took forever for Beavis and Butthead.
- 35:19Speaker 4: And Daria and all that. And they still had to change.
- 35:22Speaker 4: That's why Beavis and Butthead, they're not playing the music videos.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Daria, they changed all the music in the background.
- 35:27Speaker 8: Supernatural on Netflix. Painful.
- 35:31Speaker 2: They did not plan ahead when they did these shows.
- 35:33Speaker 8: Because, I mean, Supernatural, when you watch Supernatural, it's a
- 35:35Speaker 8: whole other tangent. When you watch Supernatural, the music is
- 35:38Speaker 8: almost as much of a character as Sam and Dean.
- 35:41Speaker 8: So when you take out all the actual music and
- 35:43Speaker 8: put generic music in, it just makes the whole thing
- 35:45Speaker 8: feel generic.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Because music licensing is expensive.
- 35:48Speaker 4: And they do not want to do that when they
- 35:50Speaker 4: put it on DVD.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Or stream it sometimes. Now that we've moved into that world, too.
- 35:54Speaker 2: It's the same argument.
- 35:56Speaker 8: But anyways, if anybody ever has the chance to go
- 35:57Speaker 8: see him, he is delightful.
- 35:59Speaker 2: I agree. Jack knows where he was a lot of fun.
- 36:02Speaker 8: I was kind of like, eh, he hasn't done anything lately.
- 36:04Speaker 8: I don't know how he's going to be.
- 36:05Speaker 2: And he might not look good. Oh, but wait.
- 36:08Speaker 8: He was fucking amazingly hot.
- 36:10Speaker 2: He looked good. Dude was pretty hot, I'll give you.
- 36:12Speaker 8: I mean, he looked damn good.
- 36:14Speaker 2: He did. And then we were doing the math and
- 36:15Speaker 2: we're like, wait, how old is he? Damn, he looks good.
- 36:18Speaker 8: We're still not for sure because Wikipedia and IMDB say
- 36:20Speaker 8: two different things.
- 36:21Speaker 4: Eh, you can't trust either of those. So I'm going
- 36:23Speaker 4: with old but not super old. But regardless, looks amazingly
- 36:28Speaker 4: well for either.
- 36:29Speaker 8: Damn good.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 36:31Speaker 8: Almost as good. In my opinion, he looks better than
- 36:33Speaker 8: your favorite, but I'm going to assume that you're not going.
- 36:35Speaker 2: To go with him. We decided it was a tie.
- 36:38Speaker 2: We each get our own. We each went there for
- 36:41Speaker 2: a person. Let's be honest.
- 36:43Speaker 8: Yes, there was one specific reason for me.
- 36:46Speaker 5: And me.
- 36:47Speaker 4: And I was glad to be involved in the Jack Noseworthy.
- 36:50Speaker 4: I talked to him briefly, but I was there for
- 36:53Speaker 4: somebody else.
- 36:53Speaker 8: Your girl looked at me funny. Because you pointed me
- 36:55Speaker 8: out and I was taking stalker pictures. And she looked
- 36:58Speaker 8: at me and there was this look.
- 36:59Speaker 2: I was like that.
- 37:01Speaker 8: Over there. That's me.
- 37:02Speaker 2: She's always hanging around.
- 37:05Speaker 8: I figured you wanted pictures. I was doing you a favor.
- 37:07Speaker 2: And I appreciate those. But my favorite one is her
- 37:09Speaker 2: totally calling you out with that. Hey, stop taking a picture.
- 37:12Speaker 5: Look.
- 37:13Speaker 4: The person we're talking about, of course, is one of
- 37:15Speaker 4: my favorite people on the planet, Samantha Mathis.
- 37:18Speaker 8: She has aged remarkably well.
- 37:20Speaker 2: She also looks amazing.
- 37:21Speaker 8: I'm not saying that she's old or anything. I'm just
- 37:23Speaker 8: saying she's been in films for quite some time.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I can say it. We're about the same age.
- 37:27Speaker 5: She's old.
- 37:28Speaker 2: She's as old as I am, so.
- 37:31Speaker 8: She had tiny feet.
- 37:33Speaker 2: There you go. Most girls would take that as a
- 37:36Speaker 2: high compliment.
- 37:37Speaker 8: She was beautiful. She looked amazing. She was in great shape.
- 37:41Speaker 8: She's actually doing more stuff actively now. I guess more
- 37:45Speaker 8: mainstream stuff because it's stuff that people are actually paying
- 37:47Speaker 8: attention to, I guess.
- 37:49Speaker 2: There was a lot of Under the Dome pictures there.
- 37:51Speaker 2: I know. I'm wondering how many people know specifically from
- 37:56Speaker 2: Under the Dome and Strain and that more.
- 37:58Speaker 4: Recent stuff, but Again, most of the people that we
- 38:01Speaker 4: were there around the time we were there were like
- 38:04Speaker 4: old school dorks like I am. So the guy that
- 38:07Speaker 4: showed up with the giant pump up the volume cardboard
- 38:11Speaker 4: stand up from the video store back in the day,
- 38:13Speaker 4: which I'm bringing up now because we're going to reference
- 38:15Speaker 4: it in a little while. So you'll know when we're
- 38:18Speaker 4: talking about that. Yeah, he showed up with like a
- 38:19Speaker 4: full size.
- 38:20Speaker 8: And I was like, why didn't you bring yours?
- 38:22Speaker 2: Because it's in storage.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Anyway, it's in my cellophane wrapper so that you have
- 38:28Speaker 4: to keep that stuff wrapped up.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 38:31Speaker 8: We know why. Weirdo.
- 38:34Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 38:35Speaker 8: She was ridiculous. She was very nice, very beautiful.
- 38:38Speaker 2: She was very cool. As you're about to find out.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 38:41Speaker 2: Because she was cool enough that she sat down and
- 38:43Speaker 2: talked to me. I think we should go talk to
- 38:46Speaker 2: her right now.
- 38:46Speaker 8: One night in a car.
- 38:54Speaker 7: You're the voice crying out in the wilderness. You're the
- 38:58Speaker 7: voice that makes my brain burn and my guts go gooey. Yeah,
- 39:02Speaker 7: you gut me. My insides spill on your altar and
- 39:06Speaker 7: tell the future. My steaming, gleaming guts spell out your nature.
- 39:12Speaker 2: I know you.
- 39:13Speaker 7: Not your name, but your game. I know the true you.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Samantha, Samantha, dear. I have to become.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Samantha, Samantha, dear.
- 39:27Speaker 4: I love you.
- 39:31Speaker 1: She's left on Well, I've missed a thousand ditches.
- 39:40Speaker 3: But this one tops them all.
- 39:43Speaker 4: Alright, so we're here with Samantha Mathis. I try to
- 39:47Speaker 4: get in early. You are a Brooklyn girl. So how
- 39:50Speaker 4: did you get into acting initially?
- 39:53Speaker 3: Well, there's a misconception I'm a Brooklyn girl. So we'll
- 39:55Speaker 3: start with that. After my parents separated, my dad moved
- 40:00Speaker 3: to Brooklyn. So from.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Two to ten years old, I did spend some time
- 40:07Speaker 3: in Brooklyn when my dad worked at Pratt Institute in
- 40:10Speaker 3: Fort Greene. But I was born in Manhattan at NYU
- 40:13Speaker 3: Medical Center. And I am a third-generation actress. My mother
- 40:18Speaker 3: was B.B. Bush. She was known most for playing Dr.
- 40:22Speaker 3: Carol Marcus in Star Trek II, The Wrath of Khan.
- 40:27Speaker 3: And my grandmother was an actress from Vienna, Austria. She
- 40:31Speaker 3: came to the United States and was in the Diary
- 40:34Speaker 3: of Anne Frank. She played Anne's mother in that and
- 40:38Speaker 3: did other various Broadway. She did that on Broadway and
- 40:42Speaker 3: was in the first production of Dial M for Murder
- 40:44Speaker 3: on Broadway. So I grew up in the business.
- 40:48Speaker 2: You didn't really have a choice, but was mom, mom
- 40:51Speaker 2: didn't like it?
- 40:51Speaker 3: No, I totally had a choice and my parents both
- 40:54Speaker 3: did not want me to become an actress. But try
- 41:00Speaker 3: though they did, they could not dissuade me.
- 41:02Speaker 4: Because most actors I talk to when they have kids
- 41:06Speaker 4: and I ask them, they're like, no, God, no, I
- 41:08Speaker 4: don't want them involved in this business.
- 41:10Speaker 2: So how much of a fight did they put up?
- 41:13Speaker 3: You know, they put up a decent fight. I mean,
- 41:14Speaker 3: I started begging my mom at the age of 12
- 41:17Speaker 3: and she said, absolutely not. And then she began to,
- 41:23Speaker 3: she was very smart and she had me sort of,
- 41:26Speaker 3: start to prove how much I wanted it by taking
- 41:28Speaker 3: me to set at 4.30 in the morning and making
- 41:31Speaker 3: me be there for 16 hours and sit on an
- 41:33Speaker 3: Apple box in the back with the grips and the
- 41:36Speaker 3: electricians to see how glamorous it was. And then I
- 41:40Speaker 3: still wanted to do it. So then she said, you know,
- 41:42Speaker 3: take classes. And then I took professional classes and, you know,
- 41:46Speaker 3: kept sort of proving myself till by the time I
- 41:48Speaker 3: was 16, she said, okay, you know, good luck. Basically.
- 41:54Speaker 3: And then I started auditioning and I got a job
- 41:56Speaker 3: like two months later. And she went, oh, God.
- 41:59Speaker 8: Oh, no.
- 42:00Speaker 5: It started.
- 42:02Speaker 3: And also, it's never going to be this easy. And
- 42:05Speaker 3: she was right. I mean, it is a very challenging
- 42:09Speaker 3: career and business. And I love it. But it has
- 42:16Speaker 3: not been without its challenges.
- 42:18Speaker 2: I mean, it's definitely a different.
- 42:21Speaker 4: job because on the one hand you still have to
- 42:22Speaker 4: treat it as a profession but you're also a performer
- 42:25Speaker 4: so it's a very I mean most people don't have
- 42:28Speaker 4: both sides like that it's true and it's.
- 42:32Speaker 3: It's not like being a musician necessarily where you can
- 42:34Speaker 3: just go on a street corner and sort of start
- 42:36Speaker 3: jamming to pay for money so you're waiting for the
- 42:40Speaker 3: opportunity to do your work I mean you can certainly
- 42:45Speaker 3: you'd probably get arrested if you stood on a street
- 42:47Speaker 3: corner and started doing like a Shakespearean monologue. People would
- 42:49Speaker 3: just think you were crazy. Although in New York, it
- 42:52Speaker 3: depends how good you are really noticed. But, um, you,
- 42:56Speaker 3: you are at the mercy of being given the opportunity
- 43:00Speaker 3: unless you're creating your own work.
- 43:02Speaker 4: Which I mean, now that's what I was thinking at
- 43:04Speaker 4: this point, it's kind of a different world. Is it
- 43:06Speaker 4: something you would, I mean, now at the time you
- 43:09Speaker 4: couldn't have, but now would it be something more that
- 43:11Speaker 4: you would be interested in? initiating your own stuff starting
- 43:14Speaker 4: your own thing all together from scratch um well.
- 43:17Speaker 3: Yes you're absolutely right that it's a different world it's
- 43:19Speaker 3: a completely different world and and when i was a
- 43:22Speaker 3: young actress you really could just be an actress um
- 43:25Speaker 3: now i feel like you have to be a hyphenate
- 43:28Speaker 3: um and um and also there's just more opportunity and
- 43:33Speaker 3: ways to do other things and yes um i've been
- 43:37Speaker 3: uh working on producing the last several years, and I
- 43:41Speaker 3: developed and sold an idea for a TV pilot, which
- 43:46Speaker 3: ultimately wasn't made, but was something that was my baby
- 43:50Speaker 3: that I developed with a group of people for a
- 43:54Speaker 3: couple of years, and I'm in the process of developing
- 43:57Speaker 3: something else right now, which I'm very excited about. Actually,
- 44:01Speaker 3: a couple of things, and I'm also starting to move
- 44:04Speaker 3: into exploring directing.
- 44:06Speaker 4: See, I feel like all of that would be more
- 44:08Speaker 4: fulfilling than just, you know, back in the day when
- 44:11Speaker 4: you just sit around waiting to be handed a job.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Whereas now when you're creating the.
- 44:15Speaker 4: Content from go, like, I don't know, it seems like
- 44:17Speaker 4: it would have to be a little more fulfilling at
- 44:20Speaker 4: the end result.
- 44:22Speaker 3: I mean, I love acting. I really do. And I've
- 44:25Speaker 3: also moved into doing theater, which has been incredibly gratifying.
- 44:29Speaker 3: So I moved to New York six years ago, partly
- 44:32Speaker 3: to start doing more theater. And I did a Broadway
- 44:34Speaker 3: show right before I mean, I was so blessed. I
- 44:37Speaker 3: got a Broadway show three weeks after I moved to
- 44:40Speaker 3: New York and, and, and that is so gratifying. It is,
- 44:45Speaker 3: you've never worked harder as an actor to do eight
- 44:48Speaker 3: shows a week. Um, but I really love, I love
- 44:52Speaker 3: that work so much. That said, yeah, I feel like, uh,
- 44:55Speaker 3: after almost 30 years in the business, I have so much,
- 44:59Speaker 3: I have experience and a really good sense of of
- 45:03Speaker 3: what works and what doesn't and what people are interested in,
- 45:06Speaker 3: I think I have a good sense of material. And
- 45:09Speaker 3: so I feel like I have more to offer than
- 45:13Speaker 3: just being an actress for hire. And it is gratifying
- 45:16Speaker 3: to develop something from the ground up and now exploring directing.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Just having even sat with an actor and helped them
- 45:25Speaker 3: run lines and then started sort of finding myself directing them,
- 45:28Speaker 3: I feel it feels gratifying. And I have something to
- 45:32Speaker 3: offer there. So it's exciting.
- 45:34Speaker 2: It's probably natural at this point.
- 45:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it's happening organically.
- 45:39Speaker 4: Well, then I guess to start off around that point,
- 45:42Speaker 4: I mean, how did you get involved in Pump Up
- 45:44Speaker 4: the Volume? I've said many a time on this show,
- 45:47Speaker 4: there would not be this show without it.
- 45:49Speaker 2: It is weird the impact that movie had from every angle,
- 45:53Speaker 2: I think.
- 45:54Speaker 3: How so?
- 45:54Speaker 2: I think it flipped this. Did you start on a
- 45:58Speaker 2: ham radio? I was looking into it.
- 46:00Speaker 4: At the time and, and I think the FCC thing
- 46:03Speaker 4: was not a, not, not selling me very much on it,
- 46:05Speaker 4: but I do remember it.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Like flip that switch of like, I kind of liked that.
- 46:09Speaker 2: Like I want to do that. And, and I think
- 46:11Speaker 2: I liked the music end of it.
- 46:13Speaker 4: Like he starts off, but he kind of veers into
- 46:15Speaker 4: this talking thing and it, and it becomes, I don't know,
- 46:19Speaker 4: sort of therapeutic for everyone involved.
- 46:21Speaker 2: And then I found that even for myself.
- 46:23Speaker 4: So I think, I think it did sort of plant
- 46:26Speaker 4: that seed and, And it took years till technology caught
- 46:29Speaker 4: up so that I could actually do it and not
- 46:31Speaker 4: get arrested in a giant van. But yeah, so it's
- 46:35Speaker 4: funny how long it took. But I do, yeah, I
- 46:38Speaker 4: credit that it's probably the only reason. So I guess
- 46:42Speaker 4: that was one more reason. It was like I had
- 46:43Speaker 4: to see how you got involved in.
- 46:46Speaker 3: Well, I got involved in it in the normal way.
- 46:49Speaker 3: I mean, the casting director knew me, knew my work.
- 46:53Speaker 3: I had been doing just television up until that point.
- 46:57Speaker 3: But I'd been working for a couple of years and
- 46:59Speaker 3: she knew my work. And I had been backpacking in
- 47:05Speaker 3: Europe and I came back and my agent called and said,
- 47:07Speaker 3: you have an audition tomorrow. I came in, the casting
- 47:09Speaker 3: director looked at me and said, you're so jet lagged.
- 47:13Speaker 3: come back tomorrow and I was like but I'm so
- 47:15Speaker 3: excited to read for this and she was like go
- 47:16Speaker 3: home get a little more sleep and come back tomorrow
- 47:20Speaker 3: and so that's what I did and um I don't
- 47:24Speaker 3: know I mean all I can say is I went
- 47:26Speaker 3: in and I auditioned and I really connected with the
- 47:28Speaker 3: character and I was really excited about the script and
- 47:32Speaker 3: uh the feeling was mutual I went through several auditions
- 47:35Speaker 3: and screen tested with Christian and uh and I got
- 47:38Speaker 3: the job do.
- 47:39Speaker 4: You feel like going into it they had a type
- 47:42Speaker 4: already set i don't.
- 47:44Speaker 3: Know i don't know i mean you you would have
- 47:47Speaker 3: to talk to the creative people involved i was actually
- 47:50Speaker 3: just on the phone with the producer sandy stern who's
- 47:53Speaker 3: still one of my best friends and um we were
- 47:55Speaker 3: very much on the same page when they cast me
- 47:58Speaker 3: but we he was like but her hair has to
- 48:00Speaker 3: be dark and i was like yeah for sure my
- 48:02Speaker 3: hair has to be black and he was like oh
- 48:04Speaker 3: yeah no your hair has to be black so they
- 48:06Speaker 3: had i guess that in their minds that's what i
- 48:09Speaker 3: was on the same page that she was a girl
- 48:12Speaker 3: who would dye her hair, you know? That she had
- 48:19Speaker 3: that aesthetic.
- 48:20Speaker 4: Well, then how much did you kind of add to
- 48:22Speaker 4: the character? Because I think Nora is just such a
- 48:24Speaker 4: likable character on every level. Granted, again, all the guys
- 48:28Speaker 4: kind of did, but my other favorite thing is the
- 48:31Speaker 4: exchange with her and her friend. Like, it's one of
- 48:33Speaker 4: the few times I feel like there's, like, in these
- 48:36Speaker 4: half-second scenes you get these, like, sort of realistic girls
- 48:41Speaker 4: and they're kind of interacting in a realistic way.
- 48:42Speaker 6: I don't remember.
- 48:43Speaker 3: What were we saying to each other?
- 48:45Speaker 2: Horrible things.
- 48:45Speaker 4: But you were just calling each other names.
- 48:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very real.
- 48:49Speaker 3: That was Lala Sloteman. And we hit it off like
- 48:53Speaker 3: gangbusters and were really tight buds for a long time
- 48:56Speaker 3: after that. So all I can say is that that's
- 48:59Speaker 3: where chemistry comes into play. Like you hear, they say
- 49:02Speaker 3: chemistry reads and it's not just chemistry for a romantic thing. But,
- 49:07Speaker 3: you know, people hit it off. So we had a
- 49:10Speaker 3: natural banter. I don't remember exactly, but I can imagine
- 49:14Speaker 3: we were probably like, bitch, fuck you.
- 49:16Speaker 2: There was a lot of that.
- 49:17Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. You know, it was a few years. ago
- 49:20Speaker 3: i don't really remember like to what extent we were
- 49:23Speaker 3: like improvving and stuff but um but in terms of
- 49:28Speaker 3: i i can only say that i uh as an
- 49:32Speaker 3: actor and that was my first movie but i i
- 49:35Speaker 3: had very strong feelings about what she looked like and
- 49:40Speaker 3: have continued to sort of... I build from the outside in,
- 49:43Speaker 3: and I get very strong ideas about clothes, and that
- 49:46Speaker 3: informs how I feel in my body and how I
- 49:49Speaker 3: hold myself, which helps carve out how a person thinks.
- 49:54Speaker 3: It's sort of a backwards way of working, but I
- 49:56Speaker 3: know that I'm not the only person who works that way,
- 49:58Speaker 3: and I did have a lot of input into what
- 50:00Speaker 3: I was wearing in that movie, and that defined my
- 50:04Speaker 3: walk and my talk and my.
- 50:07Speaker 3: Who Nora was to an extent. But Alan Moyle also
- 50:10Speaker 3: wrote a really great script and he had very strong
- 50:12Speaker 3: feelings about who she was too. So it was a collaboration.
- 50:15Speaker 4: Well, I guess I'm trying to hit some of the others.
- 50:19Speaker 4: The one that I'm, again, sometimes I feel like I'm alone.
- 50:21Speaker 2: I love Super Mario Bros.
- 50:25Speaker 4: How did that happen, and what kind of insanity was
- 50:28Speaker 4: going on on that set?
- 50:29Speaker 3: Oh, my God. Well, what's funny is, like, you're probably
- 50:32Speaker 3: the 30th or 40th person in the last 24 hours
- 50:36Speaker 3: who's come up and said, I'm probably the only person
- 50:38Speaker 3: who loves this movie, so I get it.
- 50:40Speaker 2: But that's here.
- 50:41Speaker 3: It's kind of a bit of a train wreck, but...
- 50:44Speaker 3: I disagree.
- 50:46Speaker 1: But.
- 50:47Speaker 3: It was, for the time, a really big movie. It
- 50:51Speaker 3: was the most expensive movie ever made in 1991, knowing
- 50:54Speaker 3: it made a $ 50 million movie. Yes, $ 50 million, yes.
- 50:56Speaker 3: For Mario Brothers, I agree. Yes, yes. I'd played the
- 51:07Speaker 3: video game Donkey Kong with the Mario Brothers when I
- 51:10Speaker 3: was a kid. The script came to me, and I
- 51:14Speaker 3: knew that the directors that were attached to it had
- 51:16Speaker 3: done Max Headroom, which was a really big deal and
- 51:20Speaker 3: creatively so innovative. And I read it, and it wasn't
- 51:27Speaker 3: the strongest script, but I was really interested in what
- 51:30Speaker 3: they were going to do creatively. I don't think I
- 51:33Speaker 3: auditioned for that. I think I was just offered the movie.
- 51:37Speaker 3: And it was a wild ride.
- 51:42Speaker 2: I would think it would have to be. I mean,
- 51:43Speaker 2: just visuals alone are kind of amazing. I think the
- 51:47Speaker 2: most amazing part is that it has so little to
- 51:50Speaker 2: do with that game. Haha!
- 51:52Speaker 4: And that's kind of my, because I was like trying
- 51:54Speaker 4: to make a story fit that game is ridiculous, so
- 51:57Speaker 4: I like that they threw that out the window and
- 51:58Speaker 4: were just.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Like, here's what we're doing. It has some other elements.
- 52:04Speaker 3: I mean, the Mario brothers are there, and Princess Daisy's
- 52:08Speaker 3: in a castle, and there's a dinosaur, and then there's,
- 52:12Speaker 3: you know, the bad guys, and so, and then they
- 52:15Speaker 3: have to save her, and there's this slime, and it's her.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Dad, and Even that cast.
- 52:20Speaker 4: I mean, Dennis Hopper is amazing. Like, any movie he's in. Like,
- 52:24Speaker 4: even King Koopa. Like, he just does not phone it in. Like,
- 52:28Speaker 4: he's always amazing. So, were you, I don't know, on
- 52:31Speaker 4: the set with him much in his insanity?
- 52:35Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. I mean, Dennis was amazing. I was so
- 52:37Speaker 3: intimidated to meet him.
- 52:40Speaker 2: As you kind of should be.
- 52:41Speaker 3: Knowing his work from Blue Velvet and other stuff. And just,
- 52:50Speaker 3: I was scared of him. And I was 20 or 21,
- 52:55Speaker 3: and I was kind of a sweet, I wasn't a prude.
- 53:01Speaker 3: But I was definitely a little daunted by him.
- 53:06Speaker 2: He's lived a crazy life at that point.
- 53:07Speaker 3: He was, he definitely enjoyed playing cat and mouse with me.
- 53:13Speaker 3: But I came to realize he was a real pussycat.
- 53:15Speaker 3: And I have to say, when we were down there
- 53:17Speaker 3: in Wilmington, he really loved Wilmington a lot. That's where
- 53:20Speaker 3: they shopped Blue Velvet. And he took me to see
- 53:22Speaker 3: a couple of buildings he wanted to buy. One was
- 53:24Speaker 3: a house and one was an old Masonic temple. And
- 53:27Speaker 3: he said, I'm going to turn this into an acting
- 53:29Speaker 3: school and have artists lofts and have a theater. And
- 53:36Speaker 3: the building was beautiful but dilapidated. And he did it.
- 53:40Speaker 3: And I went back to shoot Under the Dome and
- 53:44Speaker 3: I went to that building and it's beautiful. And there
- 53:49Speaker 3: are artist lofts and an acting school and a theater
- 53:53Speaker 3: that is gorgeous and a rooftop bar. and I went
- 53:58Speaker 3: to the roof and I had a drink and I
- 54:00Speaker 3: toasted him because he did what he said he wanted
- 54:03Speaker 3: to do, and I thought that was really impressive.
- 54:05Speaker 4: I mean, he was always impressive even when he was young,
- 54:07Speaker 4: but he was so crazy that I feel like when
- 54:09Speaker 4: he turned his life around and kind of hit that point,
- 54:13Speaker 4: Everything he did. He got so into art. He was
- 54:16Speaker 4: an artist. He bought so much art. He was a photographer.
- 54:20Speaker 4: I remember seeing a whole series that he shot. He
- 54:23Speaker 4: was so in love with that stuff. I have to
- 54:27Speaker 4: give him credit. He changed his whole life. Good to
- 54:30Speaker 4: know he's building this thing to help all these other
- 54:32Speaker 4: people too.
- 54:34Speaker 3: He was very supportive of artists in his life.
- 54:38Speaker 2: Bob Hoskins too. He's pretty amazing.
- 54:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, what a loss. What a loss. He
- 54:47Speaker 3: was a sweetheart of a man. I have such fond
- 54:51Speaker 3: memories particularly of going on the press tour to Japan
- 54:55Speaker 3: with Bob and John and being in Kyoto and staying
- 55:04Speaker 3: in an old Japanese hotel and all of us coming
- 55:08Speaker 3: to dinner in our Japanese robes and sitting down and
- 55:11Speaker 3: kind of quiet And then Bob said, all right, so
- 55:14Speaker 3: who's got their underwear on and who doesn't? And we
- 55:18Speaker 3: just started laughing. And then all of our counterparts from
- 55:22Speaker 3: the production distribution company came in in their suits and ties.
- 55:26Speaker 3: And we're like, why are we the assholes in the
- 55:28Speaker 3: robes on the floor and you guys have your clothes on?
- 55:31Speaker 3: Is this a prank?
- 55:33Speaker 2: The gig got punked.
- 55:34Speaker 3: Yeah, we got a little Japanese punked. But he was
- 55:37Speaker 3: a sweet man and such a fine actor.
- 55:42Speaker 2: But you got stuck with this Amo the whole time.
- 55:45Speaker 8: I did.
- 55:46Speaker 3: Yeah, no slouch himself.
- 55:49Speaker 2: He's pulled in some really good performances. It's funny how
- 55:52Speaker 2: all over the map he is.
- 55:53Speaker 5: As an actor.
- 55:54Speaker 3: His theater is really phenomenal. Have you had a chance
- 55:56Speaker 3: to see any of his one-man shows? Yeah. He's a
- 56:00Speaker 3: very talented, talented guy. The last thing I saw him
- 56:05Speaker 3: in was Chef, which I really liked that movie. I
- 56:07Speaker 3: thought that was a sweet movie.
- 56:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, to move ahead a little, again, I was
- 56:13Speaker 2: really on board with Thing Called Love.
- 56:15Speaker 4: And I think because it was, I think it had
- 56:19Speaker 4: issues getting out there because it was almost ahead of
- 56:22Speaker 4: its time in the music end of it. Because it
- 56:24Speaker 4: sat so Nashville and, at the time, standard country music.
- 56:28Speaker 4: And I feel like none of what any of you
- 56:30Speaker 4: were doing was standard country music for that time.
- 56:33Speaker 2: It all became what.
- 56:34Speaker 4: Eventually was alt country and all these weird offshoot singer-songwriter
- 56:37Speaker 4: things that, like, I think for country fans, it was
- 56:41Speaker 4: probably hard to watch because it didn't fit the mold
- 56:46Speaker 4: that they expected. And then other people probably were afraid
- 56:48Speaker 4: it was going to be another McCountry, so they didn't
- 56:50Speaker 4: want to watch it. So I feel like that was
- 56:52Speaker 4: such a strike against it. Once you get into it,
- 56:55Speaker 4: it's such a great story and such great characters. And
- 56:59Speaker 4: the whole cast. It's like you guys were kind of amazing,
- 57:02Speaker 4: but I don't know.
- 57:03Speaker 2: What was it like? I mean, little Sandy Bullock hanging
- 57:07Speaker 2: out there.
- 57:08Speaker 3: Unknown Sandy Bullock at that time, yeah. You couldn't be
- 57:12Speaker 3: more spot on in terms of your assessment of why
- 57:15Speaker 3: the movie fell through the cracks. I mean, at that time,
- 57:19Speaker 3: no disrespect to the gentleman, but Billy Ray Cyrus' song
- 57:21Speaker 3: Achy Breaky Heart had come out and all we kept
- 57:24Speaker 3: saying on set was we are not making Achy Breaky Heart.
- 57:27Speaker 3: Peter Bogdanovich is an artist and a tourer and he
- 57:31Speaker 3: had a vision that did not fit Paramount Studios' vision
- 57:35Speaker 3: of what a country music movie would be. They wanted
- 57:37Speaker 3: us to you know, wear red cowboy boots and do
- 57:41Speaker 3: line dances and, and, and make a country music pop movie.
- 57:44Speaker 3: And that was not what we were interested in doing.
- 57:46Speaker 3: And that's not the movie that we made, um, much
- 57:48Speaker 3: to their dismay. Um, and, um, we were incredibly blessed. Uh,
- 57:55Speaker 3: River had a really strong relationship with T-Bone Burnett, who
- 57:59Speaker 3: ended up being our music supervisor and introduced us to, um,
- 58:04Speaker 3: true country music. Uh, Again, no disrespect to anybody else,
- 58:08Speaker 3: but the roots of country music.
- 58:11Speaker 2: It's really all... Blues.
- 58:12Speaker 3: And even gospel. And the roots of Americana. And he
- 58:20Speaker 3: was my tour guide into the world of country music,
- 58:25Speaker 3: which I knew virtually nothing about. I didn't really know
- 58:28Speaker 3: about Johnny Cash. I didn't really know about... I knew
- 58:32Speaker 3: Patsy Cline. Classic. But, so, you know, T-Bone has grown
- 58:40Speaker 3: to become, like, the go-to guy for authentic music of
- 58:43Speaker 3: any kind of Americana genre of music. But he put
- 58:48Speaker 3: a real stamp on the movie. And I think that's
- 58:50Speaker 3: what makes the movie good. But it wasn't the movie
- 58:52Speaker 3: that Paramount wanted. So, they didn't know what to do
- 58:56Speaker 3: with it.
- 58:57Speaker 2: How was he to work as the director? Oh, he
- 58:59Speaker 2: was amazing.
- 59:00Speaker 5: I mean.
- 59:03Speaker 3: He is a sweetheart of a man. This just reminds me,
- 59:09Speaker 3: I had a dream and him. Sweetheart of a man,
- 59:14Speaker 3: loves actors, knows exactly what he wants, shoots that way,
- 59:19Speaker 3: because he knows how he's going to edit while he's shooting.
- 59:23Speaker 3: So he'd literally come in for a close-up, but then
- 59:25Speaker 3: he'd cut, and I'd be like, we didn't finish, and
- 59:27Speaker 3: he's like, I know, I'm going to be out of
- 59:29Speaker 3: it by then. And is a treasure trove of film history,
- 59:37Speaker 3: which anyone who knows about movies knows. But, I mean,
- 59:40Speaker 3: my God, to sit and listen to him talk about
- 59:42Speaker 3: Howard Hawks and John Ford and Orson Welles and John Cassavetes,
- 59:48Speaker 3: like my hero, was just amazing. I mean, the first
- 59:52Speaker 3: AD had a challenging job because he'd be like, Peter, Peter,
- 59:55Speaker 3: we've got to get back to it. And River and
- 59:57Speaker 3: I were just like, tell us another one, Peter. But
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: it was amazing. It was a really, really beautiful experience.
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: It is interesting.
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: I just sat down with Monty Hellman, who directed Tulane Blacktop,
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: and worked with Corman in the early days. And he
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: was like that. He would just launch off into this
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: side story. And then I'm like, wait, you were supposed
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: to direct Reservoir Dogs?
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: And he just... I'd never heard that before, and he
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: just kind of goes into these different little side stories,
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: and I'm like, wait, this was your life? And he's just, like,
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: immersed in film history.
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: So it is interesting listening to these guys that have
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: been around and logged in so much time in the
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: business over the years.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: Someone should be making a documentary about Mr. Bogdanovich before
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: it's too late. With him goes away so much history
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: about cinema. And he's also an incredible mimic. I mean,
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: his impersonations of all these people are spot on.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: They definitely need to be recording all of that.
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: Well, of other big names in the industry, we did
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: mention the American president. That felt like it was funny
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: how much that, like, the movie itself did relatively well,
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: but I feel like.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: It created so much more than the movie.
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: Like, that has to be the reason the West Wing
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: came about, because Sorkin wrote American president, but then also, like,
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: is that not why Spin City came about? Like, it's
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: almost Spin City is Michael J. Fox kind of doing
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: the exact same job, only on a New York mayor level.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: So, I don't know.
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: How did that shoot go and the Sorkin words being
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: thrown at people?
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: Yes, the Sorkin words. And you live by the Sorkin word.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: You know, he wasn't directing, so he didn't have the same...
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: control in that regard that he did on the West
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: Wing but I know that on the West Wing it
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: was no it's not the it's a and and and
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: and you know what he I never was on the
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: West Wing but I would say he was probably right
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: like almost 100% of the time because the man has
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: a masterful grasp of the English language and coming from
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: being a theater playwright I don't know like I can't
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: say whether spin city really spun out of that but
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: i think you know it's possible it definitely opened up
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: an interest in political the political realm again um it
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: was just a blueprint like you know someone a politician
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: sexy again um but uh i was in awe of
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: being a part of that movie it was certainly the
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: biggest movie i'd ever made at that point um with
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: this most star-studded cast i was super starstruck and intimidated
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: by everyone, which actually lent itself to my character. I mean,
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: just Rob Reiner alone. I'm sitting on set with Meathead.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: And he's an incredible director and a big bear of
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: a man. I mean, I was nervous most of the time.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: And then I'm with Michael J. Fox and Martin Sheen
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: and Michael Douglas and Annette Bening and Anna Deavere Smith.
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: And every time you turned around, it was just someone...
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: That I knew. It was a great movie to be
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: a part of. Probably one of my better experiences in
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: getting to do research because they sent me to the
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: Clinton White House and I followed Clinton for a day.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: From 6.30 in the morning to 6 o'clock at night.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: And that was an amazing life experience. One of those
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: things as an actor you get to do. That was
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: not the tour that anyone else gets to take.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: And Rob has those connections. He called up the White House.
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: Oh let's see i get the one of the other
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: big just broken arrow working with john woo how again
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: a man who seems like he probably almost killed many
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: of his leads over the years so i did anything
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: uh out of the ordinary going on that.
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: One you know i mean i pulled a lessel in
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: my leg once there was a scene when christian and
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: i were running away from a helicopter and they'd in a,
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: in a, in a, like a ravine and sand. And
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: they'd set up like, you know, a hundred feet of
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: squibs to go off onto the left and the right
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: to make it look like we were being shot at
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: while the helicopter was going over us. And then we
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: had to haul ass and we were running in sand.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: And I took a step and, and then I just
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: started limping. And then I fell to the ground as
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: soon as they said cut. And, you know, medics all
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: like descended upon me and, um, uh, you know, put
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: all various sorts of ointments and wraps on my thigh.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: But other than that, I've got to say it was
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: a really safe set. It was like being an outward bound.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: And as a girl, to be the only female in
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: the cast, that was a lot of fun for me.
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: To be playing with the boys and the toys. To
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: be strapped to the side of a moving train. To
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: be driving a Humvee. I really liked... I really liked...
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: that experience of being kind.
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: Of a badass.
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: How precise was he in directing? I mean, how laid
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: out did he have everything as far as action and stuff?
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: Very precise. Extremely precise. And I'd never seen anyone use
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: so many cameras. We did one shot in particular with
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: seven cameras. One was cranked to be fast. One was
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: under cranked. One, you know, was a Dutch angle. It
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: was all different. And it was really impressive. I wish
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: I could go back and have that experience again because...
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: I knew what I was doing and what I was seeing,
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: but I would have an even greater appreciation for it now.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: I was still enough of a kid to be like, wow,
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: it's John Woo. This is really cool. But now I'd
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: be like, why are you doing it that way? What
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: does that mean? What, how will you edit it?
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: You know, that does seem like somebody planning on editing
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: a lot later that many different things running. But, um,
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: I guess just wrap up. Uh, I did just want
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: to say thank you for all the stuff that you've done.
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: I mean, I, I, I usually out myself with my weird...
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: There's only been a handful of crushes.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: And Misty outed me herself as I.
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: As we saw you were coming here, she was like,
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: didn't the whole back of your door used to be that... Actually,
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: the guy showed up here earlier with that giant pump
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: of the vibe.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: I didn't have that one. I had the thing called
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: Love One. The one that was just you walking down
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: the road. And that was the back of my door.
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: So I.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I out myself for being a geek because I
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: was suckered in. I probably should have. I think I
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: still have it. I won't lie.
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: I've got it.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: It's in a box with the rest of my toys
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: at this point.
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: Thank you for being honest. I appreciate that.
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: I said don't tell her that part.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: Well, thank you. I appreciate that. I appreciate that a lot.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: Yeah, again, especially at that point, the whole Nora thing,
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: I think it all kind of attached itself to me
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: really early. I used to play.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: Some really strong, fun, sexy, smart characters when I was
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: in my early 20s, and so it's certainly flattering to
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: know that some gentlemen had a crush on me from
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: all that.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Well, that's, I mean, I usually.
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: In all earnestness, actually, that's great, because I was playing
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: someone who was intelligent, and I wasn't a ditz, and
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: I had strength, and that's great that that made an
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: impression on young men. We need more strong, independent female characters.
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: Especially at that point in, you know, 80s movies weren't
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: really known for smart female characters. So, yeah, the fact
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: that she was as well-written and as much... of an
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: equal as, you know, Christian Slater that like, I think
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: it really did.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: Kind of, you know, make an impact on it. So, uh, well, okay.
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: Aside from my outing myself here, um, you, you've also
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: got new stuff. Is there stuff you want to tell
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: people about? You've got, you showed up on under the dome.
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: We may or may not spoil that.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: I did show up on under the dome. Uh, but
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: we won't talk too much about that if you haven't
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: seen it, but I, I was on, I was on
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: it for a bit and I may be back. You
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: never know.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: It's a strange show. You could be that.
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: The dome works in mysterious ways. Um, but, uh, yeah, uh, uh,
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: people should check out the second season of the strain.
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: It starts on FX on July 12th and I've joined
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: the show starting in the second episode playing, um, a
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: really tough council woman from, uh, Staten Island named Justine Ferraldo,
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: who has a really strong relationship with the fire department
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: and the police department. And, uh, she starts to figure
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: out how to sort of uh cleanse uh staten island
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: from from the vampires and so the mayor of new
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: york reaches out to her and uh wants to work
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: together with her and uh that will grow over the season.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: Yeah and how involved is guillermo on this.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: I think he was more involved in the first season
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: i know creatively he's involved in the show but he's
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: in and out because he's doing so many things so
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: he was even on set and i literally i'd walk
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: in and and they'd be like ah wasn't that nice
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: to see guillermo and i was like nobody told me
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: again you guys i haven't met him yet so i
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: actually realized he was on set my last day we
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: looked at each other and i was like is that
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: And then they were like, we're ready, and I went
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: to set, and I was like, goddammit, when is someone
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: going to introduce me to the man?
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: He's dodging you.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: So, he probably has a crush on me, and he's
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: too intimidated to say hi.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: There's probably a thing called love, big cardboard stand-up in
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: his room.
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: Uh-huh, there you go. But I'm hoping season three is
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: going to happen, and then I'm going to be like, okay,
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: I demand. I will not come to set until I
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: meet Guillermo.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: I have writers.
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: It's mostly just hanging out with Guillermo.
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: It's his show. It's his vision.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: He created a show. He then co-wrote these books. And
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: then they went and sold the show. And it's all
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: from the mind of Guillermo. And the template that he
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: sets is very strong. So it's his show. All right.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: Well, thank you for talking with us, man. It's been great.
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: This was really fun.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:10:09Speaker 5: I love you.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: Samantha And my love.
- 1:10:51Speaker 8: I was that creepy person lurking off to the side.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: You are a creeper. I am. We were like, damn it, Misty,
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: leave us alone. We're trying to have an important conversation.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: And maybe not spoil certain seasons of Under the Dome. So, yes.
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: Thank you once again to Samantha for sitting there and
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: talking to us and putting up with me.
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: And for putting up with me. I once again outed
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: myself for being sappily in love with her. So, what
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: are you going to do? I don't think I'm alone, though.
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: At least there were a few other weird guys out there.
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: I'm sure a few listening right now were also sappily
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: devoted to her.
- 1:11:27Speaker 8: I'm just thinking about how adorable she was. I'm just lost. Sorry.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: She was pretty good.
- 1:11:32Speaker 8: Anything else about the convention that we went to? They
- 1:11:35Speaker 8: need to have it at a place that is not
- 1:11:36Speaker 8: disabled or water fountains.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: Okay, that was funny. Misty's wandering around looking for a
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: water fountain. Oh, we found them. We found about three.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: None of them worked.
- 1:11:46Speaker 8: One of them made a sound. The other two didn't
- 1:11:49Speaker 8: even have elements that would make sounds anymore.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: Yeah, they took out the buttons. There's no knobs. They
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: were just sort of a reservoir in the wall.
- 1:11:56Speaker 8: Like, if they had water fountains, this is where it
- 1:11:59Speaker 8: would be. But you know what? You're going to Starbucks because...
- 1:12:02Speaker 8: We're not giving you free water.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a disabled water fountain a few feet
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: from a really long line at the Starbucks. You do
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: the math, people.
- 1:12:10Speaker 8: I was about ready to go stick my head under
- 1:12:11Speaker 8: a faucet in the bathroom. And that's gross.
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I've seen people. That's probably not a good idea.
- 1:12:20Speaker 8: I talked to a stranger about Corey Haim. That was
- 1:12:22Speaker 8: pretty exciting.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: That doesn't always happen, you talking to people.
- 1:12:26Speaker 8: I know, but I do like talking about Corey Haim.
- 1:12:28Speaker 8: Because they noticed my Corey tattoo. And they were like,
- 1:12:31Speaker 8: did you get to meet him? And I'm like, yeah,
- 1:12:32Speaker 8: he was at the Horror Hound in India a couple
- 1:12:34Speaker 8: years before. It was like a year before he died
- 1:12:37Speaker 8: or something. And he had lost a lot of weight
- 1:12:39Speaker 8: and he was looking really good. And then he died.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: He was back on track. He was doing good. He
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: was staying away from Feldman. And then, look what happened.
- 1:12:49Speaker 8: So they were very impressed that I had... Got to
- 1:12:52Speaker 8: meet Corey Haim and got my picture taken with him.
- 1:12:54Speaker 8: I brought it up on Facebook. I'm like, see? I'm
- 1:12:56Speaker 8: not making it up. He's right here. So, yay. I
- 1:13:00Speaker 8: impressed people. Because they didn't get to meet Corey Haim. Neener.
- 1:13:05Speaker 8: If you have a chance to go see Angus Grimm,
- 1:13:07Speaker 8: you best do it soon.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: He's not the youngest man in the world.
- 1:13:13Speaker 8: I thought when we saw him a couple years ago,
- 1:13:15Speaker 8: he was looking a bit up there.
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: That's what I was saying. I was like, he didn't
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: look so bad last time. And I started doing the math.
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: I was like, oh, what was that, like seven years
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: ago or something?
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: That's, I guess, a long time.
- 1:13:25Speaker 8: He's an amazing guy. He had an amazing career. But
- 1:13:28Speaker 8: he is getting up there. So if you get a chance,
- 1:13:30Speaker 8: I'm not saying it, but you best go. I'm not
- 1:13:33Speaker 8: wishing ill upon him.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: Definitely not. He's your fake grandpa.
- 1:13:37Speaker 8: I would totally adopt him as my grandpa. He is
- 1:13:39Speaker 8: a wonderful person and a very kind man. I'm just saying.
- 1:13:43Speaker 8: You best go see him. Visit my grandpa, for God's sakes.
- 1:13:46Speaker 8: What's wrong with you people?
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: Too much to ask. Just visit your grandpa every once
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: in a while.
- 1:13:52Speaker 8: I'm just giving everybody a warning. I want you to
- 1:13:54Speaker 8: be like, oh, I thought I had plenty of time.
- 1:13:56Speaker 8: You best go.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: That's true with anything. You never know with anybody, really,
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: as we just said.
- 1:14:02Speaker 8: I hope he lives a continually long life and lives
- 1:14:04Speaker 8: forever and ever and ever. But he was not looking
- 1:14:08Speaker 8: so good.
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 1:14:11Speaker 8: I wish people would quit bringing dead animals in jars
- 1:14:14Speaker 8: and considering that's something to sell at conventions. I don't know.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: It has been a major movement in recent years.
- 1:14:19Speaker 8: Bringing animal bits. I'm like, it's just gross. I like animals.
- 1:14:23Speaker 8: And I'm not like, I don't know. I just think
- 1:14:26Speaker 8: it's weird. I like them all that weird shit, but.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: There's a lot of weird stuff there, but it is
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: funny how much of it in the last few years
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: has become dead animals. Dead animal parts.
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: I guess it's because they can't bring human parts or
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: they get arrested.
- 1:14:40Speaker 8: That one guy said that all of his human parts
- 1:14:42Speaker 8: were real.
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: That's true. No, he had mostly human blood that he
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: said had been disinfected. Is that what he said? I
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: don't know.
- 1:14:48Speaker 8: He had a real human skull.
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: And then he had a human skull and some other
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: random bones. And I'm like, are you just a grave robber, dude?
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: Because I don't know if that's legal.
- 1:14:57Speaker 8: Talk about Jack Noseworthy and how delightful he is. Samantha
- 1:15:01Speaker 8: Mathis and how beautiful she is.
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: She's super awesome.
- 1:15:04Speaker 8: Meredith Salinger was pretty hot, but we didn't talk to her.
- 1:15:06Speaker 8: Ric Flair looks old. But Mosey's awesome. Talk about everybody
- 1:15:10Speaker 8: who was there. Just randomly starts batting off people. Misty
- 1:15:12Speaker 8: Monday was there. What's her name? What's her name? What's
- 1:15:15Speaker 8: her name? Come on, say it.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: Misty Mundane?
- 1:15:16Speaker 8: Yeah, exactly. Actually, she's labeled herself as a real name now.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: Oh, that's not her birth name?
- 1:15:23Speaker 8: Erin Brown is nowhere near as awesome.
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: That's not quite so memorable, is it?
- 1:15:28Speaker 8: Playmate of the Apes. Is that the one she was in?
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the one I was... Handed a copy and went, Here,
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: you need to watch this.
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: And I kept watching... the story parts. I was watching
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: Porn Wrong, people.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: I was scanning.
- 1:15:42Speaker 8: Through the bad, the.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: Bad, like, R-rated girl-on-girl action, because it's really, at best,
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: all there was.
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: But the ship made out of PVC pipe was the
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: funniest thing I'd ever seen. I was so thrilled with
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: how bad the spaceship was, and then the sets in general,
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: and that stellar acting.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: Overall with the whole cast.
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: Yeah, it was an interesting most-watched some scenes.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: Watched let's put it that way yeah i was doing
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: it wrong but there were a huge amount of vhs
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: tapes there there were several people that had like massive
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: amounts so as i told carl that other recent episode
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: when he was just like there's.
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: Not anybody that likes vhs out there like me it
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: was like i was surprised i was like.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: No there's some out there they're making a comeback you
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: just gotta find the right people so yes write in
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: if you're a vhs tape head and we'll Pass the
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: word along to Carl to let him know those people
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: are still out there. Otherwise, I think that's about all
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: we saw.
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: Once again, thank you to Jack Noseworthy for dealing with
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: you and your happy dance and all your craziness.
- 1:16:49Speaker 8: There was a whole bunch of happy dance.
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: Thank you once again to Samantha for putting up with
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: my sappy revelations of teenage love and devotion. Anyway, yeah,
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: she's awesome. So definitely support her in all that she
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: does from here on out. And thank you for talking
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: with us. So I'm sure we'll.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: Be back in the near future at another one of
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: those conventions or with other random misty activities and fabulous
