- 0:00Speaker 1: All right.
- 0:00Speaker 2: Welcome back to ACC football addiction. My buddy, Jeremy's coming
- 0:03Speaker 2: along with us to talk a little Louisville football. We
- 0:05Speaker 2: are presented by prize picks. I'll talk about them later,
- 0:08Speaker 2: but Jeremy, I was talking to you off air and
- 0:11Speaker 2: I don't know why I didn't just hit record there,
- 0:12Speaker 2: but you're going to have to hear me say the
- 0:13Speaker 2: same exact thing again.
- 0:15Speaker 3: To me, this is the biggest.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Game in the ACC in 2026, without a doubt, at
- 0:20Speaker 2: least a conference game, right?
- 0:22Speaker 3: I know Miami plays Notre Dame.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I know there's big out of conference stuff all over
- 0:25Speaker 2: the place. Louisville obviously played Ole Miss to start there.
- 0:27Speaker 2: There's big stuff that's happening there. But conference games, I
- 0:30Speaker 2: think this game is ultimately going to be for second place.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Who goes to Charlotte? Maybe first place. Who goes to
- 0:37Speaker 2: Charlotte and probably sees Miami? Because Miami doesn't play Louisville
- 0:42Speaker 2: or SMU, there won't be a tiebreaker scenario. And if
- 0:44Speaker 2: Louisville was to win this game, it's like they got
- 0:46Speaker 2: to lose two games for SMU to catch them.
- 0:48Speaker 3: You get the tiebreaker and you get the you know,
- 0:50Speaker 3: the one win.
- 0:52Speaker 2: So I think it cannot be understated how massive this
- 0:54Speaker 2: game is for both sides. And I'll tell you what,
- 0:57Speaker 2: I know SMU did not play super well on Labor
- 0:59Speaker 2: Day night.
- 1:00Speaker 3: They bounced back this week.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I know that Louisville lost on Labor Day weekend as well.
- 1:06Speaker 2: They bounced back. I expect them to have a really
- 1:07Speaker 2: good year. I love the quarterback pickup of Keen Holtz.
- 1:10Speaker 2: It looks like Brahms got his guy there. Like, I
- 1:13Speaker 2: think both teams are going to come ready to play,
- 1:15Speaker 2: ready to go. And I think it's going to be
- 1:16Speaker 2: a fantastic game and, you know, better teams go in.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's for.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Sure going to be a shootout because you've got similar
- 1:23Speaker 4: type offenses on both sides. Dual threat quarterbacks, guys that
- 1:28Speaker 4: know how to just hit their guys. I mean, I
- 1:31Speaker 4: know that sounds like it should be easy, but it's not.
- 1:34Speaker 4: You saw whatever team that was that played Alabama the
- 1:39Speaker 4: other day. In the second half, they just couldn't hit any,
- 1:42Speaker 4: they couldn't complete any passes. And that's just what a
- 1:44Speaker 4: quarterback's in there for. But you've got guys like uh
- 1:48Speaker 4: jennings that's his.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Name right from smu yep kevin jennings.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Jennings and keen holes that guys they can hit their
- 1:55Speaker 4: guys at the drop of a dime i mean i
- 1:58Speaker 4: think we saw especially with keen holes his uh his
- 2:03Speaker 4: progression to and i know it's two a two game
- 2:05Speaker 4: season so far anything that you say at this point
- 2:08Speaker 4: is just wishful thinking because you can see I've already
- 2:13Speaker 4: had people on my timeline. Is Keenholz one of the
- 2:16Speaker 4: greatest quarterbacks we've ever had at Louisville? Well, slow down
- 2:18Speaker 4: a little bit. He's played two games. He played really good.
- 2:22Speaker 4: And I'll go as far as to say this. Had
- 2:25Speaker 4: he not started so sluggishly against Ole Miss, Louisville wins
- 2:30Speaker 4: that game. But he hadn't started an organized football game,
- 2:34Speaker 4: I think they said, in four years. So it did
- 2:39Speaker 4: take him a little bit to get used to the
- 2:40Speaker 4: flow of things. I think he's going to have a
- 2:43Speaker 4: big year. I think he has the potential. Now, obviously,
- 2:47Speaker 4: when you think great quarterbacks, the first three people that
- 2:49Speaker 4: come to your head are, from Louisville anyway, Johnny Unitas,
- 2:52Speaker 4: which is where, because he hardly even played quarterback, Lamar Jackson,
- 2:57Speaker 4: which is, that's Lamar Jackson, and Chris Redmond, who, as
- 3:02Speaker 4: much as Lamar Jackson was a dual-threat quarterback, Chris Redmond's
- 3:05Speaker 4: the greatest pure passer in Louisville history. And I'm not
- 3:09Speaker 4: just saying that because he was my teammate at Louisville,
- 3:12Speaker 4: And he coaches the pro football team here in Louisville,
- 3:14Speaker 4: the Kings. And I just was hanging out with him
- 3:17Speaker 4: the other day. I'm not saying that for those reasons.
- 3:19Speaker 4: But Chris Redman was a killer. And he had a
- 3:23Speaker 4: group of receivers. Which at the time, I was like,
- 3:27Speaker 4: I've never seen this before. It doesn't matter who you
- 3:29Speaker 4: put in there, receiver. Chris found them. And then years later,
- 3:34Speaker 4: on a bigger stage, I saw a guy named Tom
- 3:36Speaker 4: Brady that was able to do the exact same thing.
- 3:39Speaker 4: So system quarterback. I think King Hulse could be right
- 3:43Speaker 4: up there with Chris as far as passing. And I
- 3:46Speaker 4: think he adds a new element because Lamar wasn't that
- 3:48Speaker 4: great of a passer in college. He's worked on that.
- 3:53Speaker 4: He's done well at improving on that at.
- 3:56Speaker 1: The pro level.
- 3:56Speaker 4: But as far as college is concerned, I think King
- 3:59Speaker 4: Hulse could be the real deal. I need to see
- 4:01Speaker 4: a little bit more from him before I just don
- 4:04Speaker 4: him the king of quarterbacks. But he's done a fantastic job,
- 4:08Speaker 4: and you're absolutely correct. It is 1,000% the biggest game
- 4:12Speaker 4: left on our schedule because for some reason, when they
- 4:16Speaker 4: did the scheduling, they dealt all the ranked teams away
- 4:19Speaker 4: from us this year. Which you can't help, and they
- 4:23Speaker 4: didn't know that. They didn't know how the teams were
- 4:28Speaker 4: going to play. Obviously, I thought Georgia Tech was going
- 4:30Speaker 4: to be a really good team this year, and they've
- 4:32Speaker 4: not really shown that so far. But yeah, absolutely. As
- 4:37Speaker 4: far as I know, I agree with you, it's the
- 4:39Speaker 4: biggest game left on the ACC schedule.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I was ready to crown Pitt, and then I watched
- 4:44Speaker 2: them sneak by UCF. That quarterback goes out and throws
- 4:48Speaker 2: seven touchdowns against Miami, Ohio, which I understand that's not
- 4:51Speaker 2: a great opponent, but. Heinzel only had 212 yards. He
- 4:55Speaker 2: didn't throw a touchdown. Ferguson got it in on the ground. So, yeah,
- 4:58Speaker 2: I was even looking at that Pitt game at the
- 4:59Speaker 2: end of the year and thinking, man, they could really
- 5:01Speaker 2: build up. And that Pitt-Louisville game the last week, no,
- 5:03Speaker 2: I'm sure it'll still be a good game. I know it's,
- 5:05Speaker 2: you know, teams change throughout the year. I'm not going
- 5:07Speaker 2: to make a week two takeaway that lasts until Thanksgiving. But, yeah, no,
- 5:13Speaker 2: I agree. I think this is the one that, like,
- 5:14Speaker 2: both teams are really geared up for. I'll get right
- 5:17Speaker 2: back to the interview. But first, I want to tell
- 5:19Speaker 2: you about the prize picks. Make sure you are over there.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Games are starting to drop. I know it's early in
- 5:23Speaker 2: the week. There's only one big game on here so far,
- 5:26Speaker 2: and it is LSU Ole Miss. Of course, all new
- 5:29Speaker 2: users on the PrizePix app get $ 150 instantly when they
- 5:33Speaker 2: win their first $ 5 lineup using code HMA if that's
- 5:36Speaker 2: a $ 5 lineup or more. LSU Ole Miss, massive. You
- 5:40Speaker 2: can alter these lines just a little bit. So I'm
- 5:43Speaker 2: taking the sure thing.
- 5:44Speaker 3: It's early in the week.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I'll probably get more risky later as we go. Give
- 5:47Speaker 2: me Trinidad to throw a passing touchdown. Give me Sam Levitt.
- 5:51Speaker 2: over 19 and a half rushing yards super easy it's
- 5:54Speaker 2: a guaranteed hit let's go out there and make some
- 5:57Speaker 2: money it's not actually a guaranteed hit but it does
- 5:58Speaker 2: feel like one to me make sure you're on the
- 6:00Speaker 2: prize picks app go find the lines that you like
- 6:03Speaker 2: tell me if you want to make some money we
- 6:05Speaker 2: appreciate prize picks for their support i think it's also
- 6:08Speaker 2: really cool you know you see so many cupcake games
- 6:10Speaker 2: that are played to start seasons and you know both
- 6:13Speaker 2: louisville and smu well smu maybe has played two with
- 6:16Speaker 2: Florida state being one of them, but, but no, they
- 6:21Speaker 2: both have played, you know, different levels, but challenging opponents.
- 6:25Speaker 2: And so you're both kind of in similar spots, man. You, they're,
- 6:28Speaker 2: they're not mirror images of each other by any means,
- 6:32Speaker 2: but there are so many similarities that make this so
- 6:34Speaker 2: fun to me. You've both played good team, Florida state.
- 6:37Speaker 2: You've both played talented teams early in the year, which
- 6:41Speaker 2: a lot of people don't do. So you're both kind
- 6:43Speaker 2: of tested in the same way, which I think is
- 6:45Speaker 2: a big deal. You both have really good offenses. You
- 6:48Speaker 2: both have really good coaches. I think if I'm, if
- 6:51Speaker 2: I'm power ranking ACC coaches, I'm not going to go
- 6:54Speaker 2: through all five right now, but Jeff Brom and Rhett
- 6:56Speaker 2: Lashley are both absolutely in my top five. And there's
- 6:58Speaker 2: not even a question. They're probably both in my top three,
- 7:01Speaker 2: but I need to think and make sure that like I'm,
- 7:04Speaker 2: I'm ranking it properly. Um, They're both really, really good
- 7:06Speaker 2: offensive mind. Like I, I love this coaching matchup. I
- 7:10Speaker 2: love this offense on offense matchup. And like I said,
- 7:13Speaker 2: shootouts are fun. Like I don't want to watch a 12,
- 7:15Speaker 2: seven game. Like I want to watch point. So bring
- 7:19Speaker 2: all of that on for me. And so, you know, I'm,
- 7:22Speaker 2: I'm really excited for this. What are the things you
- 7:24Speaker 2: think Louisville needs to do better in this game than
- 7:27Speaker 2: they did against Ole Miss to have it and not
- 7:30Speaker 2: have a chance to win, but to go get the win.
- 7:32Speaker 4: Well, first off, you got to clean up the penalties.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Too many unnecessary penalties the first week. And the weird
- 7:39Speaker 4: thing about it was last week versus Villanova, we had
- 7:42Speaker 4: a different set of penalties that we focused on. Just
- 7:47Speaker 4: got to clean the procedural stuff. Can't have the delay games.
- 7:52Speaker 4: You can't have the running into the kickers. And I
- 7:56Speaker 4: will say this, and this isn't sour grapes at all,
- 7:59Speaker 4: but Against Ole Miss, that was not a roughing the kicker.
- 8:02Speaker 4: That was a running into the kicker.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree.
- 8:05Speaker 4: And that should have been three. And Louisville would have
- 8:07Speaker 4: won the game if they had kicked a field goal.
- 8:11Speaker 1: There. They missed the field goal on that play.
- 8:14Speaker 4: I've watched the replay a thousand times. I didn't know
- 8:17Speaker 4: you could karate kid kick somebody in the chest and
- 8:20Speaker 4: fall backwards and it's roughing the kicker or running into
- 8:22Speaker 4: the kicker. But I digress. They scored three of that play.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Louisville wins in regulation and we're sitting here talking just
- 8:29Speaker 4: a little bit different. But Got to clean up the penalties.
- 8:31Speaker 4: This past week it was late hits and stuff of
- 8:35Speaker 4: that nature, just behavior unsportsmanlike. So got to clean that up.
- 8:39Speaker 4: And the defense, one thing I've seen so far in
- 8:42Speaker 4: the first two games, and I'm not going to sit
- 8:45Speaker 4: here and be down on them about it because anybody
- 8:48Speaker 4: that's played football knows that if you think that you're
- 8:51Speaker 4: about to jump a route and score a touchdown, you
- 8:54Speaker 4: get excited, you go for it. That's the difference between
- 8:57Speaker 4: good players and great players. In the first game, we
- 9:01Speaker 4: had a DB try to jump the route twice. Long
- 9:04Speaker 4: bombs for touchdowns. Against Nova the other night, the only
- 9:07Speaker 4: touchdown they scored was because our DB just was salivating.
- 9:10Speaker 4: He thought he had to pick six. Ran right past them,
- 9:13Speaker 4: and the guy just walked into the end zone. As
- 9:17Speaker 4: much as I think these offenses are similar, I think
- 9:20Speaker 4: Louisville's got the edge on defense as long as they
- 9:23Speaker 4: don't make stupid mistakes again.
- 9:26Speaker 1: That's where I'm at. I by no means....
- 9:31Speaker 4: Think at this point that either team's going to blow
- 9:33Speaker 4: the other team out. I believe it's going to be
- 9:35Speaker 4: a close game. As I've said on our show the
- 9:39Speaker 4: other night, Louisville's defense impressed me so much in game
- 9:43Speaker 4: one because they were on the field almost the entire
- 9:45Speaker 4: second half. And in the fourth quarter, still had enough
- 9:49Speaker 4: gumption to stop them twice down 14 and tie the
- 9:53Speaker 4: game up, help the offense tie the game up. So
- 9:56Speaker 4: I think this defense is a top defense in the country.
- 10:00Speaker 4: I don't have the stats to support that. I haven't
- 10:03Speaker 4: looked the stats up today. I don't know if it
- 10:04Speaker 4: is or not. But I do believe that the defense
- 10:10Speaker 4: is going to be our make or break because the
- 10:12Speaker 4: offense is going to do its thing because not only
- 10:14Speaker 4: do we have Lincoln Keene host, we have Isaac Brown,
- 10:17Speaker 4: we have Kiwan Brown at running back. And we've got
- 10:20Speaker 4: Trey Richardson and some guy that I think y'all may
- 10:23Speaker 4: have heard of. L Mac is what I've been calling them.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 4: What a great pick. You told me, I believed you
- 10:31Speaker 4: a little bit, but after seeing this guy here and
- 10:35Speaker 4: I saw somebody argue with you, let me, let me
- 10:38Speaker 4: pull the curtains back a little bit. I saw somebody
- 10:39Speaker 4: argue a Florida state fan argue with you the other day.
- 10:42Speaker 4: It was like, well, he's not an elite receiver.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Okay.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Well, here's what I'm here to tell you, and I
- 10:47Speaker 4: would say this if he was at Florida State and
- 10:49Speaker 4: I watched him play or here. Anybody that can move
- 10:53Speaker 4: as well and with precision as he does is an
- 10:57Speaker 4: elite receiver. He's a great route runner. I don't know
- 11:00Speaker 4: if you saw his highlight reel versus Villanova the other night,
- 11:04Speaker 4: but he literally ran the letter Z on one play,
- 11:08Speaker 4: got open, and got a touchdown. That's an elite receiver.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Am I saying that he should be a first-round NFL
- 11:15Speaker 4: draft pick? No, because a lot of elite receivers are
- 11:18Speaker 4: overlooked if they're not at your Miamis and Bamas and
- 11:23Speaker 4: Georges and I guess every team in the SEC except
- 11:26Speaker 4: for two.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I'll let you guess which two it is.
- 11:30Speaker 4: But he is an elite receiver, and with Richardson on
- 11:34Speaker 4: the other side, that is why this offense has been.
- 11:38Speaker 4: And a lot of people, not to ramble on, apologize
- 11:41Speaker 4: for that, a lot of people have been Very, very
- 11:43Speaker 4: hard on Isaac Brown because you don't have 2,000 yards
- 11:46Speaker 4: rushing yet this season.
- 11:47Speaker 1: But here's what happens.
- 11:49Speaker 4: When you are an elite running back that busts on
- 11:51Speaker 4: the national scene, teams are going to game plan for you.
- 11:54Speaker 3: For sure.
- 11:55Speaker 4: The reason why our passing offense, I believe, has been
- 11:59Speaker 4: so effective and wide open is because they are double
- 12:02Speaker 4: and triple teaming Isaac. And that's also why the other
- 12:05Speaker 4: running backs have been able to get loose as well
- 12:08Speaker 4: because they're not worried about Key One. They're not worried
- 12:10Speaker 4: about Marquise Davis. They're worried about Isaac Brown. They're doubling him.
- 12:14Speaker 4: And that's allowing us to get loose offensively, passing the ball. So, Leo,
- 12:19Speaker 4: I know there were some rumors about antics during the
- 12:22Speaker 4: offseason and holding out and not practicing.
- 12:25Speaker 1: That's not true.
- 12:28Speaker 4: Friends with a bunch of the staff, they've told me
- 12:30Speaker 4: that that wasn't true, that they fully believe in him
- 12:33Speaker 4: and his abilities, that this is just other teams that
- 12:36Speaker 4: are ganging up on him. And I believe it, too.
- 12:38Speaker 4: I mean, I played college football. I've seen it happen before.
- 12:42Speaker 4: Nobody ever tried to double team me cause they were
- 12:43Speaker 4: never going to throw me the ball, but I saw
- 12:46Speaker 4: it a lot.
- 12:48Speaker 3: No, he is great.
- 12:49Speaker 2: And you know, Florida state had a crowded wide receiver room.
- 12:52Speaker 2: I would have loved to retain him. Obviously Florida state's
- 12:55Speaker 2: a little bit of a mess right now, just in general.
- 12:57Speaker 2: I'd love to retain him. I, I, and Louisville's really
- 13:00Speaker 2: always done a good job. I was, I was at,
- 13:02Speaker 2: I was down in Miami yesterday and talking with a
- 13:04Speaker 2: guy that's pretty close with the Miami staff and, you know,
- 13:07Speaker 2: we saw Lamar up on the TV and it was like, man,
- 13:10Speaker 2: let that one get away and let that, you know,
- 13:11Speaker 2: let this other one get away. My Louisville's always, it
- 13:14Speaker 2: seemed like they had a pretty good pipeline down there with,
- 13:16Speaker 2: with South Florida. And so, yeah, he had a detour
- 13:18Speaker 2: on his way up to Louisville from South Florida and Tallahassee,
- 13:21Speaker 2: but I mean, he was incredibly talented and just a,
- 13:24Speaker 2: you know, a pretty good kid that just crowded room.
- 13:27Speaker 2: he wanted to have a bigger impact. I would have
- 13:30Speaker 2: loved for Florida state to keep him. He's probably wide
- 13:32Speaker 2: receiver three at Florida state. Got the talent to be
- 13:35Speaker 2: wide receiver too. I'm really high on Deuce Robinson. Obviously
- 13:38Speaker 2: I think he could be a first or second round
- 13:40Speaker 2: pick and I wouldn't put McCoy above him, but they're
- 13:42Speaker 2: different receivers.
- 13:43Speaker 3: They play differently. Um, but yeah, like I, I, I
- 13:46Speaker 3: don't blame him at all for going.
- 13:47Speaker 2: And I knew you'd be happy with him because I
- 13:49Speaker 2: also believe that Brom could utilize him a little bit
- 13:52Speaker 2: better than our offensive staff has been able to utilize.
- 13:55Speaker 3: A lot of our talent.
- 13:57Speaker 2: This game, you did also mention taking care of the ball.
- 13:59Speaker 3: I want to go back to that for just a moment.
- 14:02Speaker 2: SMU obviously looked fine on Saturday against just an absolute
- 14:05Speaker 2: terrible team, but they did not take care of the ball.
- 14:09Speaker 2: If they play anybody but Florida State on the road
- 14:11Speaker 2: and have four turnovers, lose the turnover battle like that,
- 14:14Speaker 2: they're not winning that game. It's the first time, I believe,
- 14:17Speaker 2: it's the first time a team has ever in the
- 14:20Speaker 2: history of football, or at least since stats have been kept.
- 14:22Speaker 2: So like since the eighties, first time in the history
- 14:24Speaker 2: of football that a team missed a field goal, lost
- 14:28Speaker 2: a turnover battle for nothing. There was a turnover on
- 14:31Speaker 2: the last play on kind of like the Hail Mary
- 14:33Speaker 2: type round type thing, but lost a turnover battle for nothing,
- 14:37Speaker 2: missed a field goal, had more penalties. And maybe even
- 14:41Speaker 2: not as much time of possession. I think that was
- 14:43Speaker 2: like the fourth thing. First time in football ever. Like
- 14:45Speaker 2: you lose all four of those. Like, what do we
- 14:47Speaker 2: always say? Well, when the time of possession, don't lose
- 14:50Speaker 2: a turnover battle, be better on special teams.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Don't have penalties. SMU missed all of them. And one
- 14:55Speaker 3: now I will tell you this.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I think Lou, I think SMU plays better on Saturday
- 15:00Speaker 2: than they did against Florida state. Mostly because we've already
- 15:04Speaker 2: seen that trend in football. Michigan plays bad, then plays good.
- 15:08Speaker 2: This team plays bad, then plays good. That is typical.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Even Florida State, who I didn't think was great in
- 15:12Speaker 2: that SMU game, I thought they played better.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Than they did against New Mexico State.
- 15:15Speaker 2: So teams do adjust and learn and rebound and get
- 15:18Speaker 2: better as time goes on. But you talk about Louisville
- 15:21Speaker 2: needing to take care of things and not be sloppy. Again,
- 15:25Speaker 2: not mirror images, but there are so many similarities. SMU's
- 15:28Speaker 2: got to do the same thing. And Kevin Jennings has
- 15:30Speaker 2: not been great on the road.
- 15:31Speaker 3: I'll say that.
- 15:32Speaker 2: They are not a great road team, and they try
- 15:34Speaker 2: their very best to lose. Despite dominating Florida State, they
- 15:37Speaker 2: try their very best to lose on the road in Tallahassee, too.
- 15:40Speaker 2: And so that is a big question for me is
- 15:43Speaker 2: which team is cleaner. Cause I do feel like one
- 15:45Speaker 2: of these teams, they're just, there are mistakes to be
- 15:49Speaker 2: made when you're playing this sport. I mean, you know,
- 15:51Speaker 2: as well as anybody who who's making that crucial mistake,
- 15:53Speaker 2: is it Louisville making a mistake? Is it a big
- 15:56Speaker 2: penalty that brings back a big run? Or is it,
- 15:58Speaker 2: you know, Kevin Jennings throwing another stupid pass that, ends
- 16:01Speaker 2: up being picked off. Are they muffing a punt or
- 16:03Speaker 2: what's going on? Like that's kind of, there's a mistake
- 16:06Speaker 2: out there we made. There might be several, but who's
- 16:08Speaker 2: making that when it's most crucial. And that'll, I mean,
- 16:11Speaker 2: certainly we'll tell you if the other team capitalizes, which
- 16:13Speaker 2: Florida state didn't on their four turnovers only having seven points.
- 16:17Speaker 3: That's, that's a big part of this as well.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Yeah. And Louisville's turn has turned the ball, has made
- 16:23Speaker 4: the other teams turn the ball over multiple times each game.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I'll tell you this.
- 16:28Speaker 4: You're always looking for a big headline to put out
- 16:30Speaker 4: with these videos. Louisville Insider says something crazy. I don't
- 16:36Speaker 4: think this is too crazy, though. If they play against–
- 16:38Speaker 4: I'm putting it.
- 16:40Speaker 1: I know you are. I knew it.
- 16:42Speaker 4: If they turn the ball over four times to us,
- 16:45Speaker 4: we're winning by 21 points or more. That's not going
- 16:48Speaker 4: to happen. I'll tell you another thing. The thing that
- 16:50Speaker 4: I did see in the Florida State-SMU game, I think
- 16:54Speaker 4: our linebacking core is exponentially better than Florida State's linebacking core.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Our guys have good hands. Those passes that were falling
- 17:03Speaker 4: that could have been, I mean, they did get a
- 17:06Speaker 4: lot of them. You all did get a lot of them.
- 17:09Speaker 4: But our linebacking core is so good. They're going to
- 17:14Speaker 4: make them. If Jennings does like he did the first,
- 17:19Speaker 4: there's no doubt about this. They've had our number the
- 17:20Speaker 4: last couple of years with him there. But if he
- 17:23Speaker 4: plays that way against us, we are going to make
- 17:26Speaker 4: him pay and we are going to win that game handily.
- 17:28Speaker 4: I just don't think he's going to make, because you
- 17:31Speaker 4: know just as well as I do when it comes
- 17:34Speaker 4: to this, big time players play big in big time situations.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Maybe you underestimate Florida State so you don't play as well.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Maybe you underestimate Villanova so you don't tighten up in
- 17:45Speaker 4: the first quarter like you should. You're playing a top
- 17:48Speaker 4: 25 team. Both teams are going to be ready for
- 17:50Speaker 4: this game. Louisville hasn't Knock on wood, I know we're
- 17:54Speaker 4: going to this game just because I said that. Hasn't
- 17:56Speaker 4: thrown an interception this year yet in two games. I
- 18:00Speaker 4: believe we've only lost one fumble. So we are taking
- 18:05Speaker 4: care of the ball well. It's the penalties that continue
- 18:09Speaker 4: to concern me. But it's like you've got to pick
- 18:12Speaker 4: your battles. And the most important thing here is that
- 18:18Speaker 4: the defense steps up Like I said, the linebacking corps,
- 18:21Speaker 4: it's one of the best linebacking trios we've had since
- 18:25Speaker 4: I've been alive at Louisville that I've ever seen. So
- 18:30Speaker 4: I just think that we have to, again, this cliche,
- 18:34Speaker 4: win the turnover battle, take care of the ball, win
- 18:36Speaker 4: the time of possession. I think we're capable of doing that.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Will we make stupid mistakes? Yeah, because sometimes you just
- 18:46Speaker 4: have to get a penalty. Like I hate to go
- 18:48Speaker 4: back to game one again, But there was a play
- 18:53Speaker 4: on the last drive of the game where we had
- 18:57Speaker 4: already put out their starting halfback, had already put out
- 19:00Speaker 4: their starting wide receiver, and their quarterback wasn't as good
- 19:05Speaker 4: as he was touted. If it wasn't for those two
- 19:08Speaker 4: big plays, I don't think everybody's talking about him the
- 19:11Speaker 4: way that they are. You can't take those back, so
- 19:13Speaker 4: they still count, obviously. But he's running towards out of bounds,
- 19:17Speaker 4: and our guy– goes to hit him before he goes
- 19:19Speaker 4: out of bounds, doesn't make contact until he's out of bounds,
- 19:24Speaker 4: they call the unnecessary roughness or late hit out of bounds.
- 19:29Speaker 4: I'm okay with a hit like that because if you've
- 19:31Speaker 4: already hit the other guys hard enough to knock out
- 19:33Speaker 4: their starting running back and wide receiver, why not try
- 19:36Speaker 4: to knock out, I mean, I don't want him to
- 19:38Speaker 4: be hurt forever, but why not try to knock out
- 19:41Speaker 4: the guy that's the difference maker? So as long as
- 19:44Speaker 4: we have, I know this doesn't sound make a lot
- 19:47Speaker 4: of sense i'm okay with smart penalties i'm not okay
- 19:50Speaker 4: with delays of games i'm not okay with uh roughing
- 19:56Speaker 4: uh hitting the kicker after their pun or whatever those
- 19:59Speaker 4: are stupid mistakes you you know either you're close enough
- 20:02Speaker 4: to block a kick or not just pull back so
- 20:05Speaker 4: um that's what grounds my gears that's what i'm hoping um,
- 20:09Speaker 4: not to see again, Jeff Brahms teams have always played
- 20:14Speaker 4: with a lot of passion and reckless abandonment. So I
- 20:17Speaker 4: don't know that we, we don't, I don't know what
- 20:20Speaker 4: was going on. We had like five delay games in
- 20:22Speaker 4: game one and coach talked about the communications not working right. So, uh, the,
- 20:27Speaker 4: the headset stuff wasn't working right. So maybe that's why, uh,
- 20:30Speaker 4: we didn't have any of those last game. So as
- 20:32Speaker 4: long as we don't have stupid penalties, I feel really
- 20:35Speaker 4: good about this game. I, uh, Think this is going
- 20:39Speaker 4: to be, again, I think it's going to be the
- 20:40Speaker 4: most fun game in the ACC this year.
- 20:43Speaker 2: I think it's the biggest game in the ACC this year.
- 20:45Speaker 2: I am going to, I think I'm going to lean
- 20:49Speaker 2: with Louisville here.
- 20:50Speaker 3: I'll tell you this.
- 20:51Speaker 2: If this was, I mean, you know this, and I'm
- 20:53Speaker 2: not trying to bring up sore memories, but Louisville is
- 20:56Speaker 2: 0-4 against SMU. I like them to break that streak.
- 21:00Speaker 2: If this was in Dallas, I'd probably lean the other way.
- 21:04Speaker 2: I think they play a little bit better at home.
- 21:07Speaker 2: And I think these teams are that close to where
- 21:09Speaker 2: home field is going to matter. I've been to, it
- 21:12Speaker 2: was a Friday night game, but I've been to Louisville,
- 21:14Speaker 2: great atmosphere, great environment, great time before the game.
- 21:18Speaker 3: I think their fans understand.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I mean, you have a better read on this than
- 21:21Speaker 2: I do, but I think their fans understand how big
- 21:24Speaker 2: this game is.
- 21:24Speaker 3: And with a schedule that doesn't have a.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Ton of marquee games on it, I think that place
- 21:29Speaker 2: is absolutely shaking on Friday night or on Saturday.
- 21:33Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Like it was on the Friday that I went. I
- 21:36Speaker 2: like Louisville to pull this off close. I think it
- 21:39Speaker 2: is high scoring. Give me 38-31 Louisville.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Okay, well, first off, I need to correct you on something.
- 21:49Speaker 4: We are not 0-4. We are 0-4 with an asterisk
- 21:54Speaker 4: because that last time we played them here and we
- 21:56Speaker 4: were driving down to start kneeling the ball, our running
- 21:59Speaker 4: back was down 10. and they stripped the ball and
- 22:03Speaker 4: ran it back, and they won the game with that drive.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Oh, I remember being– I mean, I wasn't as heartbroken
- 22:07Speaker 3: as you guys were, but I remember it.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Oh, I wasn't heartbroken. I was angry. I was like,
- 22:14Speaker 4: you expect that when you're playing away. You don't expect
- 22:16Speaker 4: the other team to get home cooking when they're at
- 22:19Speaker 4: the oven. That's for sure, or that's what it used
- 22:22Speaker 4: to be called. But, yeah, the fans– you nailed that.
- 22:29Speaker 4: Here's the thing about little fans– And I was talking
- 22:31Speaker 4: about this, not trying to name drop or anything, but
- 22:35Speaker 4: I was on the Bobby Bones show a couple weeks ago.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Nice, nice.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Talking about, you know, no big deal.
- 22:43Speaker 4: Talking about college football and stuff and talking about how
- 22:47Speaker 4: he was asking about underrated college football environments.
- 22:53Speaker 1: And I threw a.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Bone to Cincinnati because I think Cincinnati Stadium is very,
- 22:57Speaker 4: very unique. It looks like it's Literally looks like it's
- 23:00Speaker 4: a toilet bowl. That may be a reason for that.
- 23:04Speaker 4: But I said on a mid-major level, I'd say Cincinnati's
- 23:07Speaker 4: got a really nice setup. But I said a slept-on environment,
- 23:12Speaker 4: and I said I'm not just saying this because I
- 23:13Speaker 4: cover the team. It's the University of Louisville. And for
- 23:16Speaker 4: any other game, our fans would still be in the
- 23:19Speaker 4: parking lot, passed out from all the alcohol they drank
- 23:22Speaker 4: about halfway into the first quarter. For games like this,
- 23:25Speaker 4: they know, hey, we need to stop drinking about an
- 23:28Speaker 4: hour before kickoff. Get to our seats and cheer it on.
- 23:33Speaker 4: It's electric. Like you said, it was rocking. It's electric
- 23:36Speaker 4: in there when we have a– I wish we would
- 23:40Speaker 4: be more like that when it's not a top 25 team.
- 23:42Speaker 4: But I digress. We always show up for the top
- 23:47Speaker 4: 25 matchups. If you don't think so, go back and
- 23:51Speaker 4: watch the West Virginia-Louisville three versus five matchup from a
- 23:55Speaker 4: decade ago, 2004, 2005 or– Or watch Lamar in number
- 24:00Speaker 4: 10 Louisville face off versus number three.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Who was that? Oh, it was Florida State, wasn't it?
- 24:06Speaker 3: I don't remember that. Let's not talk about that one.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:09Speaker 4: I think it was like 62 to 21, something like that.
- 24:12Speaker 4: It was amazing for us. And I promise I didn't
- 24:15Speaker 4: do that on purpose. I have lots of love and
- 24:17Speaker 4: respect for you. I was like, yeah, and we beat
- 24:19Speaker 4: a top five opponent at home. Oh, crap, it's Florida State.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Let me see if I can divert from this. But,
- 24:26Speaker 4: The crowd, watch those games. Listen to the crowd.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Watch them.
- 24:29Speaker 4: You're absolutely correct. They will show up. They will be
- 24:33Speaker 4: the difference. You've changed my mind a little bit throughout
- 24:37Speaker 4: the show. I was initially going to go 38-35 Louisville.
- 24:41Speaker 4: I think our defense shows up to play. I think
- 24:43Speaker 4: it's going to be 38-24 Louisville.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Let's go. I like it.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Jeremy, what do you guys got coming this week? Where
