- 0:24SPEAKER_00: We did every mature.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Have to be around this episode today to learn more.
- 0:35SPEAKER_02: Hi guys, welcome back to another episode of Skincare Anarchy.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: This is your host, Ecta, and I have an awesome guest again with me today.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: Her name is Giselle Chirinos, and she is the CEO and founder of this amazing skincare brand called Overt Skincare, O-V-E-R-T.
- 0:51SPEAKER_02: And I'm so excited you're here, Giselle.
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: Thank you so much for coming on the show.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Thank you for having me.
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: I'm so excited to be here.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: So why don't you can you tell us a little bit about yourself, your background, like, you know, just everything, your journey and beauty.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: So a little bit about myself.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: I am Peruvian.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: I was actually born in Lima, Peru.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: And I have a background in economics, marketing, and luxury.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: I did my yeah, I did my undergrad.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: I studied economics and I did it here in Lima.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: And after that, I had the opportunity to go to Madrid to pursue my master's degree in marketing.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was while I was in Madrid that I had the opportunity to start working in the luxury sector.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: And that had been a lifelong dream of mine.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: I think that ever since I was a little girl, I fantasized about working in luxury and fashion.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: And it finally came true in Madrid while I was there.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: So wait, what did you work in when you were in Madrid?
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: What what comp did you work for a company or like what how did you do the luxury sector?
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I used to work for a luxury holding group.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: I used to work for Richmond and I was there working in a watch brand.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: Oh, cool.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 2:07unknown: Yeah.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: Continue.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: Sorry.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: I was just saying this.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: No, no, it was a very it was an awesome awesome experience overall.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: And as I said, like it was a lifelong dream of mine.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: So it was very cool to finally accomplish it.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: And while I was there, yeah.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: While I was there, I worked at a watch brand.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: And the brand, the brand I was at was a very small team.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: So I think that that kind of prepared me for the startup world now.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: Because we were very, very few people on the team, and it was very hands-on.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: So basically everyone did what needed to be done at the moment.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: So some days you saw me, I don't know, one running around the company working with a logistics team, and then the next day I was scheduling photo shoots or talking to PR directors or organizing an event.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: It was very everything.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: You got to do everything basically.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was a cool experience.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: That was a cool thing about this experience that because we were a very small team, you could learn and actually do a lot of things.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: Whereas in some jobs, you have your design negative tasks and that's it.
- 3:17unknown: Yeah.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: So it was cool to learn about everything.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: Of course, yeah.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: No, I I can imagine.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, it was very cool.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: It was very dynamic, very fast-paced, and in general, I think it was a very rewarding experience for me because it didn't only teach me about not only the importance of marketing, because we all know it is important to do marketing for your brand, but also how important community building is, and how important it is for a brand to generate this personal connection with your community and with your final consumer, and what the right way is to actually convey your message and what your brand is all about.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: Now I have a question, um, Giselle, because I'm curious the inspiration for your line.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: I think that the inspiration for overt, and in general, my fascination for skincare in general came more from here, from home, from my grandma.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: I think that my grandma has been my biggest inspiration when it comes to skincare.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: Because ever since I was a little girl, I just remember spending a lot of time at my grandmother's house.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: And I'm sure, like as in any in many other cultures, in Peruvian culture, your grandmother is kind of the family caretaker.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: And whatever she says goes.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: Like she's the one that knows what's best for you.
- 4:43SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: So I remember spending tons of time tons of time at her house, and I remember watching her cook and do all these sorts of homemade remedies that were based on different plants or different things different ingredients.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: And whenever you were not feeling 100% or you were feeling a little bit sick, she always knew what to give you so that you felt better.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: Your culture sounds very similar.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: No, seriously, that's exactly how my grandmother was growing up.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, I know exactly what you mean.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like, and whatever she says goes, and also she knows what's best for you, and that also creates, I think, a very nice bond between you and her, or between family and her.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: So I think that that's where it came from because I saw how she made all these homemade remedies, and I remember when I was going through my teenage years that I struggled with really bad acne, hyperpigmentation, texture, scarring.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: And I just remember trying a lot of over-the-counter remedies and medicated solutions, but nothing seemed to work.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: Like it just everything that I put on my face just seemed to make my skin look worse.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Well, it just aggravated the problem.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: And I clearly remember going to her house one day and her sitting me down and saying, I'm just going to put this on your face.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: And it was some sort of like thick homemade lotion plaster almost put on my face.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: But I will never forget how soothing and refreshing it felt.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: What was in it?
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: What did she make?
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: Did you know what she did?
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: She tell you what she made?
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: And until now, I have no idea.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: To be honest.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: But she just knew what worked and what was going to come, all this redness and irritation that I had there.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: And I think that that was that stuck in my mind because that was my first encounter with what we now call clean and kind of natural beauty.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: So you know, it's interesting.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: Um, can I call you Gigi actually?
- 6:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, call me Gigi.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: Okay, great.
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: Well, I I was gonna say, um, Gigi, I think it's so in interesting you say that because um, you know, I was talking to some people, like, you know, from the Indian culture, like Ayurveda is this thing, right?
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: Like we we did the same thing.
- 7:08SPEAKER_02: So my grandmother, like I said, you know, very similarly, she would make like a paste or something, right?
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: For our whatever we needed.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: And what's really interesting to me is that we can still not recreate what they did back in the day.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: Like it's so hard to even make that in a lab.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: And I think about that sometimes.
- 7:27SPEAKER_02: Like these women that lived in these different cultures, they knew these remedies, and we're still trying to figure out, you know, how they did it.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: Like, we don't know how they do it.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: And even I think that if they wrote it down and told us exactly, it wouldn't be the same.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: It wouldn't work.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: Nope.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's just like they have this magic know-how, this magic touch of how things work.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: Well, it's love, right?
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: You hear it, you hear with food, like they say, when you make it with love, it tastes completely different.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: It's the same.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so it's the same thing.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but that's awesome.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: That's awesome that you got your inspiration from her.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: I mean, I really love hearing that because it's like you you went to your roots, you know, and I that's amazing.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: You know, I think with with people, they are very um, it's it's hard to stick to your roots.
- 8:15SPEAKER_02: It's hard to stick to your background and say, no, this is what I grew up with, I'm gonna do this.
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: And you know, I really love that.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: So yeah, exactly.
- 8:23SPEAKER_01: And it this was kind of, I think, a learning experience for me because even though I was super young, it kind of made me think about how when you mix and combine the right ingredients together, like how they will make you feel, what difference it will make on your skin and how powerful they are at the same time, which is amazing because there are tons of things that we don't know about, but it's cool to learn about it, I think.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: Of course, what ingredients will work for you.
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: So then how did you go?
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: Uh what was your process when you were coming up with the formulas for overt?
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: Like, how did you like although it was inspired from um you know Peruvian culture, how did you incorporate that into like the lab, you know, the lab setting?
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: I think that taking into account this learning experience and fast-forwarding to when we were in Madrid and I met Rory, that is uh Overt Skinker's other co-founder, we just won, we just knew what we wanted in the sense that we knew what problems we wanted to solve for our community.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: So we knew that we wanted to launch with a collection of five serums, and with these five serums, cover 95% of the most common skin care issues, skin issues, such as hyperpigmentation, dehydration, anti-aging concerns, texture.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: And we knew that we wanted to do that.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: So, in order for us to achieve that, we focused on active ingredients that would solve those issues and complemented them with other botanicals.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: So, for example, when we were talking about dehydration issues, we came up with our hyaluronic acid serum, but it's not only an active ingredient solution.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: We not only like one ingredient.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: So we decided to complement it with vitamin E, aloe vera, and other types of botanicals to make it extra gentler and nourishing on the skin.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: So we worked with a facility that had a team of PhDs, chemical engineers, dermatologists to achieve this, the product that we wanted to create.
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: So did they test it then?
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: Did you do any clinical tests with it?
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: We tested.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: Yes, we the facility tested them and also we tested them on our side because we wanted serums to be compatible and suitable for all types of skin.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: So we went around and gifting them and trying to see what type of reaction they had.
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: I love that you said that you knew exactly what your community needed.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: I really love that because I think you know, um, that kind of a focus is so, so important because everyone wants to cater to everybody, right?
- 11:02SPEAKER_02: But it's like you have to start from somewhere and you have to start with one, you know, uh group of people, especially if you're from a different culture, such as yourself and even myself, you know, you have to focus on what you've seen your whole life as the problems, you know, in in skin health around with your family or your friends or, you know, whoever.
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: I think so many people out there are trying to create these products that are going to work for everybody of all different, you know, ethnicities, but it's very difficult to do that if you don't come from that culture, you know what I mean?
- 11:30SPEAKER_02: Like it's it's hard.
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: I think that the first step into deciding what you want to create is look at yourself and look at people surrounding you because those are real people though that they're struggling with real skin issues.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: So it's I think it's the best way to gather what you're trying to solve.
- 11:50SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 11:51SPEAKER_02: Now, how about this?
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: Like, did you think about ever going in the makeup direction, or were you always like, you know, this is no, I want to do skincare, that's that's my focus, or how did you approach that?
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: No, I think that we have always thought about overt as a skincare company.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: And we even say that we are a different type of skincare company because we want to transform this the skincare industry.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: And we want to do that through transparency, efficacy, and charity.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: And like any other company, I think that our three pillars make us very important to us because we want to be open about all of our processes, supply chain, ingredient sourcing.
- 12:33SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: We want to focus on scientifically proven formulations that don't have any unnecessary fillers.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: And this ties in with, I think, our experience in trying products that were out there and didn't seem to work for us.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: And at the same time, we want to be charitable, we want to make the world a better place, and we will be doing that by donating 10% of our profits to anti-slavery international.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: That is a charity that resonates well with us because they also want to bring accountability and transparency back into the supply chain.
- 13:06SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: I love that you have a charity linked to your company directly.
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: I think people, you know, sometimes later on in their, you know, in their company's uh lifespan, they they decide, okay, now I want to do charity, but it's really good to see that you know uh you you had that in mind from the beginning and you know you're doing it.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: That's really cool.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think that for us it was important that we didn't only offer a physical product, but we that we generated a positive impact in the world.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: And also to make our community know that they can be game changers.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: So it's not only that every step on our side counts.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: So from choosing a glass bottle that is recyclable, the shipping method, how we source the ingredients, what facility we chose, what is our carbon footprint.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: It's also on their side.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: It's cool for people now to know how the products are made, and that whenever they decide decide to go for a product, they are actually creating an impact, and they can be a game changer and generate a greater impact for a bigger cause.
- 14:12SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 14:13SPEAKER_02: Now, let me ask you, let me ask you this because I think this is important to get this message out there for all the the young women that are growing up in today's world, you know, in terms of beauty and how they see themselves.
- 14:25SPEAKER_02: Um, one thing I learned growing up, and I was very fortunate for this, is my parents let me travel a lot.
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: So I got to see the different cultures and how everybody saw beauty, right, in the world.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: Like it was different everywhere you go.
- 14:37SPEAKER_02: So, in your mind, like what is Peruvian um, but like Peruvian beauty?
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: Like well, I think that in Peru, it's very important for you to because it's such a diverse country, it is very important for you to embrace where you come from, to embrace your heritage.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: Because we have Peruvian people that come from we talk, we're talking about since the Inca Empire, right?
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: But then we were colonized, so it's a mixture of everything.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: It's a mixture of culture, it's a mixture of races.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: So that is what makes up Peruvian culture in general, and Peruvian beauty, I think is just about embracing yourself and embracing it's more about skin and than about makeup, as you said.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: Like it's about making your skin look flawless and feeling comfortable with yourself.
- 15:25SPEAKER_02: Talk about our grandmothers.
- 15:26SPEAKER_02: I mean, they didn't wear makeup, you know what I mean?
- 15:28SPEAKER_02: They were wearing, you know, like I I don't remember a single day my grandmother, you know, she lived to be 98, you know, bless her soul, and she never wore makeup.
- 15:36SPEAKER_02: So it's like I think about beauty, and I'm like, where did makeup even start?
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: You know, it's just like Yeah, I wonder the same.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, exactly.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: No, but I think that as you said, like for us, skincare skin in general is more important than I think that makeup is an additional step that now people are taking.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: But I think that for us it should be at our core to feel comfortable in our skin and embracing, embracing if we have any flaws, embracing if embracing ourselves basically.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 16:09SPEAKER_02: So tell me, okay, so tell me more about the journey with overt.
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: Did you run into any problems like when you were creating your brand or any hurdles, um, anything that was really difficult when you were first starting off?
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: I think that the biggest hurdle we encountered at first was when we were looking for a facility.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: Because it is amazing that even though there are tons of facilities out there, the amount of people or facilities that are willing to work with you and for you not to compromise what you want to achieve or how you want to produce your skincare products, it's very difficult to find one that fits the mold.
- 16:50SPEAKER_01: So we looked everywhere for a facility from Europe, the US, South America, uh, Asia.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: And it was very difficult for us to find a facility that was willing to work with us and that was willing to source ingredients the right way, that was willing to work with us in terms of formulation and what we wanted to achieve.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: And also, I think that the second hurdle would be I mean, for everyone, this year has just been crazy.
- 17:18SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: Oh, the 2020 is literally needs to end.
- 17:24SPEAKER_02: Like it needs to end at this point.
- 17:26SPEAKER_02: I mean, come on, you know, I I agree, it's just been the most ridiculous year, but wow.
- 17:31SPEAKER_02: So, okay, so let me ask you that's very intriguing.
- 17:33SPEAKER_02: You said that about the facilities.
- 17:35SPEAKER_02: Because so, what is the what do you mean when you say um finding the right way to source ingredients?
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: Like, um, what was your vision and you know, well, how were you looking to source them?
- 17:45SPEAKER_02: Uh, can you explain that a little bit more?
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, we wanted we knew what ingredients we wanted, and we knew that our for me we didn't want our formulations to have any unnecessary fillers or any ingredients that would irritate your skin or would do nothing for your skin.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: So when we were looking for a facility, we told them about what we wanted to achieve and what products we wanted to create.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: And some of them just didn't seem to understand what we were going for, didn't seem to understand that we didn't want certain types of ingredients in our formulation, that we wanted ingredients to be sourced the right way.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: Because as partners of Anti-Slavery International, sourcing is a key issue.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: Ingredients need to be sourced the right way, they need to fulfill the due diligence of being sourced ethically, and that was very difficult for us to find a facility that uh checked all the boxes.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: That's really good that you shopped around and you didn't just settle for the you know first one.
- 18:42SPEAKER_02: That's really, really good.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so I mean, in terms of just overt, what's your demographic?
- 18:48SPEAKER_02: Like, who's your um target audience with your brand?
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: Initially, we sold out for the demographic to be a young professional that appreciated good skinker, that knew about skinker, and that was kind of looking for value for money, right?
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: Because that's what we are all looking for.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: We're young professionals and we don't have tons of money to splurge.
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: There are brands that we simply cannot afford.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: But at the end of the day, I think that we want our serums to be suitable for everyone.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: We want to be an inclusive brand.
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: That's why we put special attention into being gender neutral, to having a certain aesthetic that would appeal to everyone.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: And also our serums are suitable for all skin types because we believe that we all deserve to have beautiful skin.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: Like beautiful skin is not only segmented to a certain target, right?
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: We all deserve to feel comfortable in our skin and just to find products that work for us.
- 19:54SPEAKER_02: Well, also the availability of those products, too, I think is important.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: You know, I think um, you know, when we were growing up, I don't think there was nearly enough options.
- 20:02SPEAKER_02: And now I think I look at the industry and I think, wow, you know, there's something for everybody at this point.
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: So it's it's so nice to see that.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: It's so nice to see that there are, you know, if you're 15, 18 years old, you can go out there and say, you know, I want this, this is my problem, and this is the product that's gonna solve it.
- 20:20SPEAKER_02: So I I love that.
- 20:21SPEAKER_02: I love that your companies like yourself are making these versatile products.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: Yes, and also we wanted to simplify the skincare routine because for some people, the 10 or 15 skincare routine would 10 to 15 step skincare routine would work, but some people are more on the go.
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: And we wanted to simplify this process also, but not only giving you products that you will actually need and that will actually make a difference on your skin, but at the same time make it simple.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: So if we are offering, for example, our vitamin C serum that is the brightener, we make it simple.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: So the orange line is going to be for brightening, and we even explain we list the pro the core ingredients on the side of the box so that you know what you're putting on your skin, and at the same time, on the bottle we put glow placidin.
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: So even if you don't know what vitamin C does for you, as soon as you read the box, you understand, cool, this bottle, this product will help my skin be glowing and even out my skin tone.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: Because we are under the assumption that everyone knows what they need, and that's not always the case.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: I think that there is a ton of misinformation in the skincare industry, and also buying skincare can be a very confusing and overwhelming process for many people because many people don't know what they need, yeah, what product will do will do will solve their problem, and what benefit is this product bringing to them.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: So by simplifying this and giving them all the information straight up, I think it's a way nicer process.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: In which you actually understand what you're putting on your skin.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: Right now, we launch with a collection of five serums.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: We have five colors, as we say.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: So our yellow line is peptides.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: So that's more geared towards collagen production, um building up again your skin barrier.
- 22:21SPEAKER_01: It's about anti-aging concerns, also.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: Then we have our retinal line that is red, and that is also towards uh accelerating the skin turnover process and anti-aging.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: We have brightening, the brightener that is our vitamin C.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: And that's also geared towards evening out your skin skin tone and hyperpigmentation.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: Then hydration issues is provided we will be solved by our hyaluronic acid serum, the hydrator.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: And we nurture we also put there some aloe veras and thelaciatica to make it an extra complex formulation that will even soothe any irritation that you might have there.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: And finally, we have our most innovative formulation that is EGF, epidermal growth factor, and that is plant-based.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: And this serum will help you with any type of texture, scarring, hyperpigmentation, because what it does is that it rebuilds from within.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: So by applying this serum, it communicates with your skin cells, and whatever they need to do, what they are lacking, this serum will help you do.
- 23:36SPEAKER_01: So if you need to heal, you heal.
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: If you need to regenerate, it regenerates.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: So that's the cool thing about it.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: You regenerate everything from within.
- 23:46SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 23:46SPEAKER_02: And I think it's interesting.
- 23:48SPEAKER_02: EGF is actually an epidermal growth factor, like you said, um, and it's also found on the skin's surface.
- 23:56SPEAKER_02: I think that's what people need to also understand is that EGF is not a um, you don't need EGF to go deep down.
- 24:02SPEAKER_02: It is something that's a surface, um, you know, it has affinity for surface molecules in your skin.
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: And, you know, it it it basically it activates other protein kinases that go on and stimulate this, like growth, what you're talking about.
- 24:16SPEAKER_02: So I just want to I want to say that because I think the audience sometimes they want to know the science, you know what I mean, especially with something like something like a growth factor.
- 24:23SPEAKER_02: So yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 24:24SPEAKER_02: How do you um how do you keep it stable, the EGF?
- 24:27SPEAKER_02: Like how do you what do you um uh suspend it in?
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: Uh right now it was the we knew that was a concern, and that's why we also we went with plant-based.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: And the lab helped us find a good balance for the formulation because that was a concern of ours to keep all of our formulations stable, especially EGF and vitamin C.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: So everything, for example, for the vitamin C, we worked with a water-soluble solution, derivative, because we knew that would make it more stable and more suitable for even the most sensitive skin types.
- 25:03SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: That's really cool.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: I like that.
- 25:06SPEAKER_02: I know um vitamin C a lot of times it's mixed in oil, and um people claim that that's better, but I don't know.
- 25:11SPEAKER_02: I've I've always enjoyed the formulas for vitamin C that are more water-based, to be honest.
- 25:16SPEAKER_02: The oil ones, I don't feel like I get that same glow.
- 25:19SPEAKER_02: Have you had that experience?
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: Yes, I've always also been more I've leaned more toward the water-soluble ones because I feel that they make your skin feel glowier, and at the same time, I don't see any like um I don't I don't remember how we say like bad effects on it.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like I don't see vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin.
- 25:42SPEAKER_02: That's what I think people need to under see.
- 25:44SPEAKER_02: This is my problem, right?
- 25:46SPEAKER_02: GG, it's like people are not understanding the science.
- 25:49SPEAKER_02: And I I think like what you're doing is absolutely correct in terms of like the theory of the science, because vitamin C is a water-soluble um vitamin, vitamin K, for example, is lipid soluble.
- 26:00SPEAKER_02: So, you know what I mean?
- 26:01SPEAKER_02: Seeing vitamin K in an oil is more, it makes more sense than seeing that in a water-soluble uh formula, right?
- 26:08SPEAKER_02: So, vitamin C in the in the um, you know, in the formula you're describing, in my mind, just based on the theory, right?
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: I don't know any of the dermatology research out there on this, so please no one attack me.
- 26:20SPEAKER_02: But you know, vitamin C is water soluble.
- 26:22SPEAKER_02: So that's really cool that you made it a water water um formula.
- 26:26SPEAKER_02: I like that.
- 26:26SPEAKER_02: That's really cool.
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we just we wanted it to be stable, we wanted it to be suitable for everyone to to use it.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: And I mean, as far as the feedback that we've gotten, it's one of the favorites, our right in our solution.
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: That's awesome.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: Well, your line sounds really, really cool.
- 26:46SPEAKER_02: I'm really excited for people to discover it because it sounds amazing, and I love that you're a serum-based line because I'm obsessed with serums.
