- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. Seattle and Denver, the two loudest places.
- 0:21Speaker 3: I would say that that's incorrect.
- 0:23Speaker 1: How are we judging this?
- 0:25Speaker 3: But who's doing the world records?
- 0:28Speaker 1: Okay, it's the bye, nice guys, get the weekend off.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Here we go.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Do you want to know we're going to have Willie
- 0:37Speaker 1: McGuinness is going to be by on Saturday.
- 0:40Speaker 2: I'll be honest. I always thought that he could have been.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Better before we get started. I just want to let
- 0:46Speaker 1: you know my boss, Chubby Paul does not just randomly
- 0:49Speaker 1: take his shot.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Paul, you have to run around in the shower to get.
- 0:51Speaker 3: What Ben Johnson took his shirt off in the postgame
- 0:55Speaker 3: celebration that they would give free hot dogs for the
- 0:58Speaker 3: entire day to everybody.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Nips dog, Robert fairtrade exactly.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I'm again lockstep with Evan for the reasons said I said.
- 1:08Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota
- 1:14Speaker 3: dot Com.
- 1:17Speaker 2: All Right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:22Speaker 2: at Jillette Stadium and we're coming off the bye, so
- 1:26Speaker 2: it's kind of a different show. We've got Evan, Paul, myself, Deuce, Alex,
- 1:31Speaker 2: and Matt in the booth, so we'll talk about, you know,
- 1:34Speaker 2: how we spent our by weekend and what games we
- 1:37Speaker 2: watched and reactions from from those games, and possible competitors
- 1:42Speaker 2: for the Patriots down the stretch in the playoffs. We
- 1:45Speaker 2: got the Bills coming up on Sunday, a hat and
- 1:48Speaker 2: T shirt game. If the Patriots win, they clinch the AFSE,
- 1:52Speaker 2: so it's a huge game. Bills are desperate, They're still
- 1:55Speaker 2: trying to keep their hopes alive. So it's like the
- 1:58Speaker 2: old days, you know, like when the Colts and Peyton
- 2:01Speaker 2: Manning would come. You know this this means something regular season,
- 2:06Speaker 2: two great quarterbacks.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Championship on the line.
- 2:10Speaker 5: Someday, someday the whole seat, but you'll only need the edge.
- 2:14Speaker 4: I mean, this is what it's all about.
- 2:16Speaker 5: I mean everyone's like, wohld you ever thought that they
- 2:19Speaker 5: would win eleven games?
- 2:20Speaker 4: Like screw the record?
- 2:21Speaker 5: Would you have thought that they'd be playing the Bills
- 2:23Speaker 5: for the a FC East here in December.
- 2:25Speaker 2: I mean, it's just first week in December. We have
- 2:27Speaker 2: a chance to clinch the AFC. East's why you.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Lift all them weights. This is it, this is what
- 2:32Speaker 4: it's all about.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Mike is just fired up, fired up.
- 2:35Speaker 5: I'm excited.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I'm nervous. There's some nervous energy. I want to talk
- 2:39Speaker 2: about that because and I understand that I'm anxious to
- 2:43Speaker 2: But are you fearful?
- 2:46Speaker 6: I don't.
- 2:46Speaker 4: I don't fear no man, No, I don't fear any pity.
- 2:49Speaker 5: No, I don't fear anybody. But you're eleven and two.
- 2:51Speaker 5: We were asked last night.
- 2:52Speaker 2: A lot of people the bills. I mean, I know,
- 2:55Speaker 2: I'm not saying they can't lose, but like, no, of
- 2:57Speaker 2: course not.
- 2:58Speaker 1: But you don't really have a lot to lose. Like
- 3:00Speaker 1: you're in total control right now.
- 3:02Speaker 4: H Like you are right now. But I use slippery slope.
- 3:06Speaker 1: But you have to lose to the Jets of the Dolphins.
- 3:08Speaker 1: I'm sorry, that's a choke.
- 3:10Speaker 3: If you lose to I know, but then the pressure
- 3:12Speaker 3: is on.
- 3:12Speaker 2: But I'm talking about just momentum and confidence in terms
- 3:17Speaker 2: of confidence. If the Patriots lose this game, I sense
- 3:20Speaker 2: a lot of Patriots fans are going to lose confidence.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Do you sense the team would know?
- 3:25Speaker 6: Then?
- 3:25Speaker 1: What do you care?
- 3:25Speaker 2: I'm talking about fans because finger that's who our audience is.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Mike Rabel isn't watching right now, Drake may is, and
- 3:32Speaker 2: what I'm talking to our.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Fans, it's totally fair worry about a little nervous about
- 3:37Speaker 3: it because we didn't expect them to be here. So
- 3:39Speaker 3: like it's like, I think all of us are kind
- 3:41Speaker 3: of waiting for the other shoot to drop a little bit.
- 3:43Speaker 3: At least a piece of us is thinking maybe this
- 3:46Speaker 3: is just a little too much ahead of schedule, and
- 3:49Speaker 3: like beating Josh Allen, who's playing other worldly football right now,
- 3:54Speaker 3: twice to win the division. It's I'm not saying they're
- 3:58Speaker 3: gonna lose. I'm just saying I understand I know not.
- 4:00Speaker 2: But here's my suggestion to Patriots fans, though, Okay, don't
- 4:05Speaker 2: go into this game dreading it. Go into this game
- 4:08Speaker 2: with joy. Go into this game with confidence, like, yeah,
- 4:13Speaker 2: we could lose. Of course we could lose to the
- 4:15Speaker 2: Jets and Dolphins like that could happen. But go into
- 4:18Speaker 2: this game thinking we're eleven and two, we're good, you know,
- 4:23Speaker 2: and we beat them the first time.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I don't know who you're trying to psych out or
- 4:27Speaker 1: why oh no, I.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Just I just all these people.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I don't feel like any Patriots fan. I normally, as
- 4:35Speaker 1: you guys know, I'm pretty critical of Patriots fans at times.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I don't sense any of the stuff that Fred's talking
- 4:40Speaker 1: I do. I don't sense apprehension at all.
- 4:42Speaker 2: If we lose this game, then we're going to lose
- 4:44Speaker 2: the momentum, and.
- 4:46Speaker 1: You know.
- 4:48Speaker 4: That would be next week if they were to lose
- 4:50Speaker 4: the game. But I mean, I I'm just excited.
- 4:53Speaker 5: I mean, and it's not fear, it's you know, just
- 4:55Speaker 5: a little nervous anticipation for the game.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:57Speaker 5: You know, Drake May has won me over with just
- 5:00Speaker 5: how he plays and knowing that he's going to have
- 5:02Speaker 5: a chance. But to Evan's point, Josh Allen's playing really
- 5:07Speaker 5: well right now, and you feel like he knows this
- 5:09Speaker 5: is his time to take over. This is when the
- 5:12Speaker 5: real M v P step up and you know, get
- 5:14Speaker 5: their team into the playoffs, streaking into the playoffs. And
- 5:18Speaker 5: we were asked last night at the season ticket holder
- 5:20Speaker 5: event that we spoke at, you know what team scares.
- 5:22Speaker 4: You the most?
- 5:23Speaker 5: I mean, I said Buffalo, I think and of all
- 5:26Speaker 5: the a f C field, that's the best qu the
- 5:29Speaker 5: best quarterback.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Who scares you? But this is what's on their mind?
- 5:32Speaker 5: Well, I mean, am I choosing the wrong word of
- 5:34Speaker 5: scares like? I think is the best team that they was?
- 5:37Speaker 5: Most likely?
- 5:41Speaker 1: The biggest challenge is the question when someone asked you
- 5:44Speaker 1: which team scares you the most, it's who would you
- 5:46Speaker 1: least like to see? Not because you don't think you
- 5:49Speaker 1: can beat up.
- 5:50Speaker 4: I didn't mean to say, you know, we know it's
- 5:56Speaker 4: jumping down my throat.
- 5:57Speaker 1: It's the boss man who is trying to get the
- 6:00Speaker 1: The fans like all.
- 6:01Speaker 4: In a confident and you know they are.
- 6:04Speaker 1: This fan base does not lack for confidence ever. Do
- 6:09Speaker 1: you want to know when you should dread a game.
- 6:11Speaker 1: You don't dread games when you're eleven and two.
- 6:13Speaker 4: You don't want.
- 6:14Speaker 1: You dread games when you're four and eleven and you're
- 6:17Speaker 1: coming out of the by and you can't wait for
- 6:19Speaker 1: the stupid season to be.
- 6:20Speaker 4: Over and you might win and game.
- 6:25Speaker 1: No Patriots fans are dreading this game.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I don't know about that.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I listen again. I am often I have fun with
- 6:33Speaker 1: the verbal back and forth. With my Patriots fans out there, right,
- 6:36Speaker 1: we have some fun with.
- 6:37Speaker 4: My people, my people, I do.
- 6:39Speaker 1: I think more of you than to think that you're
- 6:42Speaker 1: dreading this game, any of you. Not not, No significant
- 6:46Speaker 1: percentage of Patriots fans are dreading a home game to
- 6:49Speaker 1: win the division. I just can't imagine now, is there's
- 6:52Speaker 1: some people that think there's going to be a tough game.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Of course, I think it's going to be a tough
- 6:56Speaker 1: of course, people think it's going to be a tough game.
- 6:58Speaker 3: That's at the end of the year.
- 6:59Speaker 1: What they say, nothing worth accomplishing, you know, isn't worth
- 7:03Speaker 1: working for, you know, like all those cliches. Yeah, I
- 7:05Speaker 1: screwed that up.
- 7:06Speaker 2: But even even during the Brady years, it was not
- 7:10Speaker 2: always easy to beat the same team twice in your division,
- 7:13Speaker 2: even in those days, you know, right, well what not
- 7:17Speaker 2: all the time? You know?
- 7:17Speaker 5: So, but it's the thing, and we have talked about it,
- 7:20Speaker 5: if you very well might play this Bills team a
- 7:22Speaker 5: third time.
- 7:23Speaker 4: So you know, I just look at it.
- 7:25Speaker 5: What makes me anticipate anticipatory And I'm trying to think
- 7:28Speaker 5: I'm not nervous. Uh, it's just the opportunity is there
- 7:31Speaker 5: for you this weekend, don't miss the opportunity, don't get
- 7:34Speaker 5: into Now we're in a race and we got it,
- 7:36Speaker 5: you know, and the pressure builds, and just take advantage
- 7:39Speaker 5: of a home game at home.
- 7:40Speaker 1: That would be against Buffalo, that would be in panic
- 7:47Speaker 1: if they don't know. I just feel like you can't
- 7:52Speaker 1: win every single game. They've won ten in a row.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Like if they lose, then you just got to bounce
- 7:58Speaker 1: back and win the next one.
- 7:59Speaker 5: Yeah, but I'm that sounds great, Paul, but you know
- 8:01Speaker 5: very well, they lose this game, there're gonna be some
- 8:03Speaker 5: spiraling Patriot fans that we weren't even that good and
- 8:05Speaker 5: now they were.
- 8:06Speaker 1: They won't be Patriots fans. They might be people around
- 8:11Speaker 1: the country doing that, yeah, but Patriots fans aren't going
- 8:13Speaker 1: to be done it. Patriots fans will be on Twitter
- 8:15Speaker 1: yelling at those people.
- 8:16Speaker 2: So, dude, you brought up how well Josh Allen is playing,
- 8:19Speaker 2: and there's no doubt about that. So I want to
- 8:21Speaker 2: talk about the game against the Bengals and what we saw.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Neither team could stop the other team, and the only
- 8:28Speaker 2: time the Bill stopped the Bengals towards the end is
- 8:31Speaker 2: when they had those you know, Burrow like, I don't
- 8:34Speaker 2: know what he was thinking. He just got too relaxed
- 8:36Speaker 2: or something. So you do the first one, okay, and
- 8:39Speaker 2: then you do it the second one, second one, like
- 8:41Speaker 2: second one, but he's still like, you got to look
- 8:46Speaker 2: for your legs. You can't just like you know, you
- 8:48Speaker 2: have to be aware of where the pressures coming from.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Housses get batted down the line all the time.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Two consecutive drives and two interceptions. That was weird.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I thought they were going there.
- 9:00Speaker 3: I thought the pick six was just like he like
- 9:02Speaker 3: ducked it like I did.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Think something happened in his hand.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't get that was all that was all on.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I was all borrow.
- 9:10Speaker 3: I don't think that. That was my point being. That
- 9:12Speaker 3: wasn't like I don't know that was kind of like
- 9:14Speaker 3: a fluky interception. If he asked me, that wasn't like
- 9:17Speaker 3: something he wasn't seeing or like wasn't ready for it.
- 9:20Speaker 3: I would agree he saw the blitz coming. He tried
- 9:22Speaker 3: to loft it over the guy's head.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I don't think he had the rip on the ball
- 9:26Speaker 1: and it went through it. It kind of was a
- 9:27Speaker 1: shot put, yeah, and it didn't he didn't throw.
- 9:29Speaker 3: It enough throw bad play, so bad football.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I mean to get one of those, you know, had
- 9:35Speaker 2: that not happened, could very well have won that.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Game, you know, that first one. I mean they're basically
- 9:40Speaker 4: driving to maybe put the game away.
- 9:42Speaker 1: If you score a touchdown, no one, no one, no
- 9:45Speaker 1: one could starve. As you said, Fred, no one could
- 9:47Speaker 1: stop the other. It was only turnovers that were were
- 9:49Speaker 1: preventing points. And you know, unfortunately for the the Bengals,
- 9:55Speaker 1: they they committed the last turnovers.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know, Burrow in the pregame interview says something,
- 10:00Speaker 2: you know, we all know that. But in conditions like that,
- 10:03Speaker 2: the offense does have an advantage because they know where
- 10:05Speaker 2: they're going. The defense has to react.
- 10:08Speaker 3: I am so surprised by how many people get that
- 10:10Speaker 3: wrong and how many people or like think it's good
- 10:15Speaker 3: you have to run the ball, and no, like you can't.
- 10:19Speaker 3: There's no traction. So in the defense is trying to
- 10:21Speaker 3: like mirror what the offense is doing like that. Somebody
- 10:25Speaker 3: has an advantage here. And it's like the passing games
- 10:28Speaker 3: had no problem throwing the football up like up and down.
- 10:32Speaker 1: The field always always keeps track of the winds.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Yeah, will right wind is more of a factor.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Every time you prevent you from throwing it. Now, your
- 10:39Speaker 1: advantages that Evan's talking about are mitigated because you can't
- 10:43Speaker 1: throw the ball where you want to. But as long
- 10:45Speaker 1: as you're able to throw it with a reasonable amount
- 10:48Speaker 1: of accuracy, what Evan just said exactly what happened. Like
- 10:53Speaker 1: how many times did you see like guys cutting across
- 10:55Speaker 1: the middle and they're like chopping their steps so they
- 10:57Speaker 1: don't lose their foot is wide open?
- 11:01Speaker 5: You know, yeah, I mean I don't know if that
- 11:03Speaker 5: had anything to do with played Josh Allen touchdown down.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I mean, he just he it was evident.
- 11:08Speaker 1: You think you think he only he only reached for
- 11:11Speaker 1: his head five times during the course.
- 11:12Speaker 3: At the game, like he was clearly seeing make sure
- 11:14Speaker 3: we changed and he's.
- 11:16Speaker 5: Like the one in the middle, and then he came
- 11:17Speaker 5: back and caught the touchdown, right, I mean, I know,
- 11:19Speaker 5: you know, because it's muscle memory.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Like six passes. It was like this guy's triple right now.
- 11:26Speaker 5: There was another one too where Chase just like I
- 11:28Speaker 5: think it was the third down that he caught a
- 11:29Speaker 5: few yards short of the sticks and you're like, oh,
- 11:31Speaker 5: and he just broke the tack.
- 11:32Speaker 4: I mean those two guys are so good.
- 11:34Speaker 5: But I was going to point out that the two plays,
- 11:36Speaker 5: the Josh Allen long touchdown run where and and then
- 11:39Speaker 5: the third down where he sealed the game, Like, you know,
- 11:41Speaker 5: those are the plays that concerned me this weekend, Like
- 11:44Speaker 5: the Patriots have to have a plan for those.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Josh, he took off the third and fifteen, you know,
- 11:49Speaker 1: and I like, it's at the end of the game,
- 11:51Speaker 1: and I'm looking, I'm like, oh, third and fifteen.
- 11:53Speaker 2: That's it.
- 11:54Speaker 1: He got the first right, that's too far.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, and then the touchdown, nobody even touched him.
- 12:04Speaker 4: I mean, he was just gone. Those are you know.
- 12:07Speaker 5: I do think Buffalo has some holes on defense and
- 12:10Speaker 5: you know, being able to push the ball down the field.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Did you guys do any research any of those guys
- 12:15Speaker 1: coming back?
- 12:16Speaker 7: I have.
- 12:16Speaker 3: They're they're all they're talking about it. Boso, Yeah, they're
- 12:20Speaker 3: they're they're all. They're all on the fence like they're
- 12:23Speaker 3: they're thinking, they're trending in a positive direction. And there's
- 12:27Speaker 3: like five of them, Palmer Bosa, Spencer Brown, they're starting
- 12:30Speaker 3: right tackle. I think to El Bernard, uh, those guys
- 12:36Speaker 3: are gonna all be fifty to fifty and like my
- 12:39Speaker 3: guess is like two of them will play in two
- 12:41Speaker 3: of them won't, or you know something like that.
- 12:42Speaker 2: So keep an eye on the weather. Yeah, because right now. Yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 2: so we're talking mid to low thirties precipitation, wintery mix
- 12:53Speaker 2: and it's gonna be right about noon into the game.
- 12:56Speaker 2: So don't know, you know, like earlier this, you know
- 12:59Speaker 2: the week it was going to miss the game. Now
- 13:02Speaker 2: it's moved up to the game, so we'll see.
- 13:04Speaker 3: You just love that when game is going to be
- 13:07Speaker 3: decided by a monsoon.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Paul doesn't like that.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I hate it.
- 13:11Speaker 3: That's terribly Yeah, me too.
- 13:12Speaker 1: But wasn't that too serious? Are you making fun of me?
- 13:14Speaker 3: No, I'm I'm in agreement with you. If that's what
- 13:17Speaker 3: your take is. Yeah, you don't want the divisions on
- 13:20Speaker 3: the line and you're gonna like be in a monsoon
- 13:22Speaker 3: and we worry about like.
- 13:25Speaker 2: The more fundamentally sound team will win.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean no, probably. I just think it's going
- 13:31Speaker 5: to be what quarterback makes the last play. That's what
- 13:33Speaker 5: I think that It's gonna be that kind of game.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Which guy steps.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Up or which quarter make makes the worst play?
- 13:38Speaker 4: Sure, yeah, sure, but hopefully not that, but it is.
- 13:42Speaker 4: I mean, I do think it's it's worth mentioning that.
- 13:44Speaker 5: You know, Drake has and he has a need to,
- 13:46Speaker 5: but he's had one game winning drive this year against Buffalo,
- 13:49Speaker 5: so you haven't really seen him in a tight fourth
- 13:52Speaker 5: quarter game, championship on the line, Like this is a
- 13:55Speaker 5: really really big game for him in his development. And yeah,
- 13:58Speaker 5: you know, you just wonder coming out of the buy
- 14:00Speaker 5: everyone's trumpeting, you know, Mike Rabeles seven and oh, I'm
- 14:02Speaker 5: like six. I don't buy any of that, Like that
- 14:04Speaker 5: doesn't matter at all. This is tight against certain teams.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I think it matters just a little bit and does
- 14:10Speaker 2: and here's why. Preparation. It shows that he has his
- 14:14Speaker 2: team in the right mindset coming out of a break.
- 14:17Speaker 2: So you know, like it was two and oh, okay,
- 14:20Speaker 2: what's six? And oh, I mean that's a pattern. I
- 14:22Speaker 2: agree with you.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I don't think it's a you know, it's not a
- 14:27Speaker 1: big deal. I wouldn't say like Buffalo has no chance
- 14:29Speaker 1: Mike rabel six and coming out of the bye. But
- 14:31Speaker 1: I do think it speaks to exactly what Fred said,
- 14:34Speaker 1: his ability to get his team ready and understanding the
- 14:36Speaker 1: different situations that his team needs, and he's had his
- 14:40Speaker 1: team ready to go.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Okay.
- 14:41Speaker 1: You know, I think if you look at you know,
- 14:44Speaker 1: I don't have all of the you know, zero and six.
- 14:45Speaker 4: And said that doesn't mean right. So it was Ryan
- 14:49Speaker 4: Tannehill is.
- 14:50Speaker 1: No, but we'll show you that we can be a
- 14:53Speaker 1: little consistent. I think there was about a month ago
- 14:55Speaker 1: the Patriots went down to Tampa with Tampa coming off
- 14:57Speaker 1: the buy and and they're.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Doddy Bowles's name, Todd Bowles is.
- 15:03Speaker 1: A terrible record coming off the bye, and they lost,
- 15:06Speaker 1: and we said that that was significant, and it turned
- 15:09Speaker 1: out that it was they weren't ready, really ready to play,
- 15:13Speaker 1: you know, for the beginning of that game. I think
- 15:16Speaker 1: if you look at some of the better coaches, most
- 15:19Speaker 1: of them are pretty good coming out of the Andy Reid.
- 15:21Speaker 3: I'm just going to bring up Andy Reid. Yeah, it's
- 15:23Speaker 3: like thirteen fourteen to know, to start his coaching.
- 15:26Speaker 5: I remember Bill getting that same love, and then all
- 15:28Speaker 5: of a sudden he stopped winning after the bye, Like
- 15:31Speaker 5: remember the Seattle game.
- 15:32Speaker 1: It's almost like he was a really good coach for
- 15:34Speaker 1: a long time and then wasn't.
- 15:38Speaker 4: When did that start?
- 15:38Speaker 5: I think there was a streak of like the Seattle game,
- 15:41Speaker 5: the Carolina game, the fans.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Will hate ball Bill snarky.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Taylor.
- 15:47Speaker 2: And I'm not bringing this up to bash Bill, trust me.
- 15:51Speaker 2: But in your one of your shows this morning, they
- 15:54Speaker 2: were talking about the sort of feeling of fas now
- 16:00Speaker 2: compared to when they were winning, you know, in the
- 16:03Speaker 2: yachts and everything like that in Courtney, and I kind
- 16:06Speaker 2: of agreed with her. One of the rare times she
- 16:09Speaker 2: said that she feels she felt and she was young then,
- 16:11Speaker 2: so I don't know, like how relevant, but she feels
- 16:14Speaker 2: there's more joy now than there was then and in thets, yeah,
- 16:18Speaker 2: and no chance. Okay, so hear me out, don't interrupt,
- 16:21Speaker 2: just I just let me finish. And and you know,
- 16:25Speaker 2: and everybody's like jumped down her throat, you know, people
- 16:29Speaker 2: like that were older. Oh no, you're kidding me. Oh seven,
- 16:31Speaker 2: we couldn't beat.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Blah blah blah blah. I was thinking, oh one.
- 16:34Speaker 2: But but but as they were talking about when we
- 16:37Speaker 2: were winning, like oh seven, oh you know all that four.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Yeah, unmatched.
- 16:41Speaker 2: But but I kind of agree with her point in this,
- 16:45Speaker 2: like now it's like kind of almost innocent joy once
- 16:50Speaker 2: we started winning back then there was more. It was
- 16:53Speaker 2: more defiance blah and you know, fighting with people and
- 16:57Speaker 2: and all this stuff.
- 16:59Speaker 1: And fourteen sixteen, seventeen eight, like that's well, I would
- 17:03Speaker 1: agree with Courtney one hundred percent.
- 17:05Speaker 2: But even earlier because and this is where I bring
- 17:08Speaker 2: Belichick in at least, that we were programmed, don't don't
- 17:12Speaker 2: get too high, don't celebrate, you know, don't get caught celebrating,
- 17:16Speaker 2: don't get don't write stuff that's too over the head,
- 17:19Speaker 2: over the top, you know. And that was part of
- 17:22Speaker 2: the coach. The coach kind of set the culture that way,
- 17:25Speaker 2: where it's it's always the next game.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I know, the larger point, you know what I mean.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I just think it's I would script. I would squabble
- 17:32Speaker 1: with the era. I think the one to three was
- 17:36Speaker 1: just unbridled excitement and joy. And when they won the
- 17:39Speaker 1: Super Bowl in one it was like, I can't f
- 17:44Speaker 1: and believe that my team just won the Super Bowl.
- 17:46Speaker 1: That was the mindset for everybody. Now, if you want
- 17:48Speaker 1: to say fourteen sixteen, you know, it's like kind of
- 17:52Speaker 1: the expectations, the entitlement, and didn't really enjoy it as
- 17:55Speaker 1: much as you should have. I would agree with you.
- 17:57Speaker 3: I think it was more about the expectations, like the
- 18:00Speaker 3: pressure on them in the back half of the dynasty.
- 18:03Speaker 3: There's one game of the year that mattered, and it
- 18:05Speaker 3: was the Super Bowl, Like you either wanted or you lost.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I think that started at seven and Mike is right,
- 18:10Speaker 1: it came off of the heels of spine.
- 18:12Speaker 3: But I just think that there was a it was
- 18:14Speaker 3: almost a relief. Winning was a relief relief Yeah, yeah,
- 18:18Speaker 3: because I agree with you versus winning being excited. I had,
- 18:21Speaker 3: oh one was different.
- 18:22Speaker 2: So that way, I kind of agree with her, Like
- 18:24Speaker 2: it's a little it's different now, at least right now
- 18:27Speaker 2: because it's all, you know, new again.
- 18:31Speaker 4: They haven't lost, Like what are you gonna say bad?
- 18:33Speaker 2: We're having unexpected success right now, and it's more innocent
- 18:37Speaker 2: and and so they were jumping down a throat. But
- 18:40Speaker 2: I was kind of siding with her a little.
- 18:42Speaker 5: I mean, I would definitely side with her when it
- 18:44Speaker 5: came to like seventeen eighteen. I mean, all the stuff
- 18:46Speaker 5: that we saw in the documentary and that more relates,
- 18:48Speaker 5: I think to the team and just the yeah, like
- 18:50Speaker 5: the expectation.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Like the first the first part of the Dinosty, I
- 18:53Speaker 1: would jump down the throw too. Oh no, no, this
- 18:55Speaker 1: is not anywhere near as like that.
- 18:57Speaker 5: Again, I stomped the field, in the field, the stands
- 19:01Speaker 5: in San Diego and six, and you will not find
- 19:03Speaker 5: a happier bunch of Patriot fans.
- 19:05Speaker 4: I mean that was there was nothing, And then.
- 19:07Speaker 5: The spygates started to get right, pushed everybody into a
- 19:10Speaker 5: corner and it became defend the wall and they all
- 19:12Speaker 5: hate us, and and it wasn't just Spygate, it was
- 19:15Speaker 5: also what happens to every team when you win a lot,
- 19:17Speaker 5: is yeah, general sentiment is sick of it, and they
- 19:20Speaker 5: don't want to see you win anymore. They want to
- 19:21Speaker 5: see someone else now come to the top. And so
- 19:24Speaker 5: I think that all kind of converged in O seven,
- 19:25Speaker 5: when it's like, all right, this has been going on
- 19:26Speaker 5: for about five years.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Now we're over them.
- 19:29Speaker 5: Plus they're doing this, and now they're and now they're
- 19:31Speaker 5: on an f you mission to everything, running the score up,
- 19:34Speaker 5: and you know, when things just snowball there to the
- 19:36Speaker 5: point where by.
- 19:37Speaker 4: The time you got to eighteen nineteen, and I think
- 19:39Speaker 4: I said it.
- 19:39Speaker 5: A few weeks ago, there was a lot of baggage
- 19:42Speaker 5: hanging over it. And yes, it was still Tom Brady
- 19:44Speaker 5: and we loved him and Bill Belichick and you know
- 19:46Speaker 5: all that he's a genius. But there's something just new
- 19:49Speaker 5: about this that and you know, unfortunately, because they haven't
- 19:52Speaker 5: lost in September, there isn't a lot of bad vibes.
- 19:54Speaker 5: Everybody's just this is amazing, and well Drake May is
- 19:56Speaker 5: the next thing.
- 19:57Speaker 2: And you know that's why to why Belichick part of this.
- 20:01Speaker 2: We'll see if you know, this team ends up winning
- 20:05Speaker 2: a super Bowl, whether it's this year or next year
- 20:08Speaker 2: or whatever, how they treat that, because even in one
- 20:12Speaker 2: in three and oh four, Paul, it was like, okay,
- 20:16Speaker 2: we're on to next year. You know, there wasn't a
- 20:18Speaker 2: lot of extended.
- 20:19Speaker 1: But I think the excitement was.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Now I'm not talking about the fans. Well that's what
- 20:23Speaker 2: we're talking about, I know, but that's right now. I'm
- 20:25Speaker 2: not talking about fans. I'm talking about how Bill wanted
- 20:28Speaker 2: it yeat and how Brady was.
- 20:29Speaker 5: I mean, Brady was that way too after winning the
- 20:31Speaker 5: Super Bowl and saying on the plane ride back like
- 20:33Speaker 5: you know, the one's ever won four?
- 20:35Speaker 4: You know, like, yeah, that that's how they were. Will
- 20:37Speaker 4: they be that team again?
- 20:38Speaker 1: I mean I just looked to me the embodiment of
- 20:41Speaker 1: that whole mentality was Brady putting his hands on his
- 20:45Speaker 1: head with this I can't believe it one.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Yeah, sure, everybody was the same way, like did this
- 20:52Speaker 2: just happen?
- 20:53Speaker 8: Right?
- 20:53Speaker 5: And that's why that one will always be special. I
- 20:55Speaker 5: love forty nine just because to Evan's point, you had
- 20:58Speaker 5: the expectations you already were at this point in it,
- 21:01Speaker 5: and for that game specifically, you had to go through
- 21:03Speaker 5: the ringer again of being like, here we go again,
- 21:05Speaker 5: it's going to be another weird ass play that they
- 21:07Speaker 5: lose on and they just can't get back over the
- 21:10Speaker 5: humps since O four.
- 21:11Speaker 4: You know, that's why four team was so special.
- 21:13Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 21:13Speaker 3: I remember two thousand and one. I was very way
- 21:17Speaker 3: too young to be walking the streets of Bourbon Street
- 21:20Speaker 3: after the Patriots won the Super Bowl. But I just
- 21:22Speaker 3: remember my like the people that we were with, my
- 21:25Speaker 3: uncles and stuff, just screaming we shocked the world. We
- 21:28Speaker 3: shocked the world, like all over and over again, and
- 21:32Speaker 3: like that was that team was similar to this team.
- 21:34Speaker 3: I honestly feel that way, like in terms.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Of just I think there are.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Question you know, because that team didn't lose after losing
- 21:43Speaker 3: to the Rams, right, that team won what ten in
- 21:45Speaker 3: a row, probably to win the Super Bowl. So I
- 21:49Speaker 3: think there are some similarities there. And you know, second
- 21:52Speaker 3: year Brady, second year Drake May, you know, like was
- 21:55Speaker 3: running it all down last Yeah. Yeah, So I think
- 21:58Speaker 3: that's the feeling is pretty between a lot.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Mike and Flores says. I never agree with Paul, but
- 22:04Speaker 2: I don't think fans are worried about this game. We
- 22:06Speaker 2: could win and we could lose, but we're confident. It's
- 22:08Speaker 2: house money, and unless you're under the age of fifteen,
- 22:11Speaker 2: I'm not sure there could be as much excitement as
- 22:14Speaker 2: having never been there before. I think we'll win Sunday.
- 22:17Speaker 2: But the twenty twenty five Patriots can win the Super
- 22:19Speaker 2: Bowl even if we don't. Sure.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Yeah, no, that's I mean, that's true.
- 22:23Speaker 5: It won't be the end of the world if they
- 22:24Speaker 5: if they lose this Buffalo game. But like I said,
- 22:27Speaker 5: now we're going to start to see a new some
- 22:30Speaker 5: new adversity for the Mike Vrabel and Drake May Patriots.
- 22:32Speaker 4: And how do they respond to all?
- 22:34Speaker 5: Right, now you're gonna have to go on the road
- 22:36Speaker 5: and the national audience again night game against Baltimore you
- 22:39Speaker 5: know it's it's tough.
- 22:40Speaker 2: And Justin says I agree with Courtney's take. I have
- 22:43Speaker 2: to agree that there is more joy now. I don't
- 22:45Speaker 2: want to diminish what Bill did, and obviously the run
- 22:47Speaker 2: with Tom and Bill will never be replicated, but the
- 22:49Speaker 2: energy is different. Right now. We have a coach that
- 22:52Speaker 2: brings a lot of energy and love to the Patriots
- 22:55Speaker 2: players and fan base. We have an explosive and fun
- 22:58Speaker 2: quarterback was loved by the public. The vibes right now
- 23:01Speaker 2: are immaculate. I'm twenty five, so these last few years
- 23:04Speaker 2: were the first time I've ever felt negative about watching
- 23:07Speaker 2: my Patriots. But this new regime has turned everything around
- 23:10Speaker 2: for the better.
- 23:10Speaker 1: That's that's great context. He's twenty five.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Right, and that's what they were.
- 23:15Speaker 1: So he's only talking about fourteen sixteen, and I would
- 23:18Speaker 1: agree with him. Yeah, he's right. This is way more
- 23:21Speaker 1: unbridled enthusiasm than you had the second part of the dynasty.
- 23:25Speaker 6: Right.
- 23:25Speaker 1: He wasn't there to experience the first part, right, I
- 23:27Speaker 1: would say that that was more than this. This right
- 23:30Speaker 1: now is kind of what the previous emailer said, like
- 23:33Speaker 1: kind of dealing with house money. This is great. There's
- 23:35Speaker 1: a lot of excitement in Old one. It was like,
- 23:38Speaker 1: are they really doing this? This is unbelievable. And then
- 23:40Speaker 1: they went again, and they went again, like it was
- 23:42Speaker 1: just get on board. It was. It was amazing.
- 23:45Speaker 6: You know.
- 23:46Speaker 1: By the time that they got to like go three,
- 23:49Speaker 1: the excitement for this team was unlike anything I'd ever
- 23:52Speaker 1: seen that. Like, they that team, the Old one, three
- 23:57Speaker 1: and four supplanted the Red Sox and Fred and I
- 24:02Speaker 1: will tell you there was a time that no one
- 24:04Speaker 1: ever thought that would be possible. And at the same time,
- 24:07Speaker 1: the Red Sox were going through it with the Yankees
- 24:09Speaker 1: in the height of the Red Sox Yankees thing. By
- 24:12Speaker 1: by oh five, oh six, the Patriots had supplanted the
- 24:15Speaker 1: Red Sox. Is the number one sheriff in town.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 5: There's an innocence to this team right now too. And
- 24:20Speaker 5: I think it's a lot of it's Drake, but just
- 24:22Speaker 5: you know, a young kid. He's very likable, you know,
- 24:25Speaker 5: not a lot going on. He doesn't have you know,
- 24:27Speaker 5: all kinds of crazy side gigs and commercials. You know,
- 24:31Speaker 5: he's just it's all kind of pretty easy right now,
- 24:33Speaker 5: and it's only going to get more complicated, I feel like,
- 24:35Speaker 5: because that's just the nature of the beast and how
- 24:37Speaker 5: football works, and you know he's going to start to
- 24:39Speaker 5: grow and his star power is going to become a
- 24:41Speaker 5: bigger thing and all that. So I just trying to
- 24:43Speaker 5: enjoy these days where there aren't really expectations right now.
- 24:46Speaker 5: But again, you have an opportunity this weekend that I
- 24:48Speaker 5: just he got to take advantage of these and that
- 24:50Speaker 5: I think should be the message from Mike Rabels that
- 24:53Speaker 5: you had an opportunity, but nothing else is guaranteed after
- 24:55Speaker 5: this opportunity, you know, and opportunities can go by the
- 24:57Speaker 5: wayside if you don't take advantage of them. So just
- 25:00Speaker 5: I would be sick to my stomach to see them,
- 25:02Speaker 5: you know, have this come out of the by with
- 25:04Speaker 5: his opportunity and not see them reach the goals.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Is often the case.
- 25:08Speaker 6: Fred.
- 25:08Speaker 1: I'm going to say you were right and I was wrong,
- 25:11Speaker 1: because there's no bigger Patriots fan than the one sittings
- 25:13Speaker 1: where I left right, and he feels exactly the way.
- 25:16Speaker 2: He's already thinking about like what's he gonna do.
- 25:18Speaker 1: What's gonna happen if it doesn't go like I looked
- 25:21Speaker 1: at it totally the honest You've got a young quarterback
- 25:23Speaker 1: who might win MVP. He ain't going anywhere the same
- 25:26Speaker 1: reason why I tell you that Kansas City and Buffalo
- 25:29Speaker 1: are always going to be threats to win the Super Bowl.
- 25:32Speaker 1: You're a threat to, right, So.
- 25:33Speaker 2: What's set up for the future now?
- 25:34Speaker 5: But you think if Josh, if Josh Allen Wills's team
- 25:37Speaker 5: to victory this weekend, is Drake may still the MVP favorite?
- 25:40Speaker 3: No, maybe not Josh Allen.
- 25:45Speaker 1: I'm not saying that he's the m v P favorite
- 25:47Speaker 1: right now. I don't know that, but I'm saying he's
- 25:49Speaker 1: a candidate. You have one of those guys now, right,
- 25:52Speaker 1: So as long as you have one of those like
- 25:54Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes is not an MVP candidate this year, he
- 25:56Speaker 1: gives Kansas City a chance to win the Super Bowl
- 25:58Speaker 1: every year. It's not gonna well for.
- 26:00Speaker 3: The Chiefs extent. I was going to say, except it's.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Not going to happen for the Chiefs this year. But
- 26:04Speaker 1: everan again, I always point back to your nerd stats.
- 26:07Speaker 8: They're not tell you.
- 26:08Speaker 3: The nerd stats keep telling me the Chiefs are going
- 26:10Speaker 3: to turn it around, and.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Happened this year for whatever reason, but it ain't because
- 26:14Speaker 1: of him. They will have a chance next year you
- 26:18Speaker 1: write them off at your peril.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Speaking of former MVP candidates, what's going on with Lamar Jackson.
- 26:24Speaker 1: I think he's just hurt.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, people run.
- 26:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:28Speaker 3: I don't think it's study.
- 26:30Speaker 1: He can't. Yeah, he can on to it's a can'.
- 26:33Speaker 3: There's so many players with Lamar where you're so used
- 26:35Speaker 3: to watching him pull away from the rush and you
- 26:38Speaker 3: scramble or extend the play, and now he goes to
- 26:41Speaker 3: like accelerate and there's just the giddy up isn't there,
- 26:44Speaker 3: and guys are catching him from behind and he's not
- 26:47Speaker 3: getting the sideline like he normally does.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Something last week when we were doing the picks, when
- 26:52Speaker 1: we did the Baltimore game, you said that you had
- 26:55Speaker 1: like breaking new like you didn't practice it. Yeah, and
- 26:58Speaker 1: it was like the third different injury that prevented him
- 27:01Speaker 1: from practicing over the like the last six weeks or
- 27:04Speaker 1: something like that. Like, yeah, it happens.
- 27:07Speaker 3: There's like so many plays. Yeah, Henry's been weird, like
- 27:10Speaker 3: it's like running into the back of his offensive lineman
- 27:13Speaker 3: and like not really like seeing it the way that
- 27:15Speaker 3: he was last year and for that offense. Yeah, but
- 27:19Speaker 3: I think a lot of it they don't do as
- 27:21Speaker 3: much design quarterback around because Lamar's hurt, so that they
- 27:25Speaker 3: did a little bit more last week against Pittsburgh, but
- 27:27Speaker 3: that's fallen by the wayside, just to Tad. And then
- 27:30Speaker 3: I would also say, like when you watch him drop
- 27:32Speaker 3: that pass, like you're so used to Lamar Jackson just
- 27:35Speaker 3: being the fastest guy on the field, and there are
- 27:37Speaker 3: times now where he's not the fastest guy on the field,
- 27:40Speaker 3: and it's I think it's hard for him because he's like,
- 27:43Speaker 3: I normally get away from this dude, and now, you know,
- 27:46Speaker 3: guys like are chasing me down from behind as I'm
- 27:49Speaker 3: trying to extend the play. You know what's kind of
- 27:51Speaker 3: going on.
- 27:51Speaker 4: He those if those questions for the panel.
- 27:53Speaker 5: If those two teams missed the playoffs, which one would
- 27:55Speaker 5: you rather be this offseason to try to rebuild?
- 27:58Speaker 8: Whoo?
- 27:58Speaker 2: Why would you rather the city Baltimore? I'd still rather
- 28:01Speaker 2: be Kansas Baltimore.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I think Baltimore, well, I'd have to do a deeper
- 28:05Speaker 1: dive on the rosters, but I think they're both incredibly
- 28:08Speaker 1: talented teams. I think Baltimore probably has more talent.
- 28:11Speaker 3: I think this is the sneaky issue right now. That
- 28:14Speaker 3: nobody wants to talk about with Kansas City's at Andy
- 28:16Speaker 3: Reid's seventy years old, and I'm not entirely sure. I'm
- 28:22Speaker 3: not entirely sure how much Andy Reid has left in
- 28:24Speaker 3: the tank. And like everybody, I agree for the most
- 28:28Speaker 3: part that as long as Patrick Mahomes is a Kansas
- 28:31Speaker 3: City chief, he's they're going to be a super Bowl favorite.
- 28:34Speaker 3: But what happens when they have to change head coaches?
- 28:36Speaker 3: Because that that's coming. And I think, you know their offense,
- 28:39Speaker 3: watching their offense, they don't put a ton of scheme
- 28:42Speaker 3: out there, like you're not like really looking at this offense, like, wow,
- 28:45Speaker 3: what a well designed you know, this is such a
- 28:49Speaker 3: hard offense to defend it it's not. And I just
- 28:52Speaker 3: wonder how much of that is Andy Reid kind of
- 28:54Speaker 3: running out of steam.
- 28:56Speaker 2: So Houston knocked them off. Kansas City dangerous team, they're
- 29:02Speaker 2: they're like, I don't I don't even know if I
- 29:04Speaker 2: can call them a dark horse because they're playing so well.
- 29:06Speaker 2: But they're a team that if you if you want
- 29:10Speaker 2: to get some better odds and vote and bet on
- 29:13Speaker 2: somebody winning the Super Bowl, I think Texans would be
- 29:15Speaker 2: a good, good value at.
- 29:17Speaker 1: The whole, like, who do you root for when you
- 29:21Speaker 1: know in these out of town games. With that in mind,
- 29:25Speaker 1: if I were a Patriot fan and I was keeping
- 29:28Speaker 1: track of that division, I would want Houston to keep winning,
- 29:31Speaker 1: win the division. Yeah, I don't want to see them
- 29:34Speaker 1: in a wild card game. Like right now, the Patriots
- 29:38Speaker 1: would be the two seed. Houston would be the seventh seed.
- 29:40Speaker 1: That's not ideal. That's not an ideal matchup in wild
- 29:44Speaker 1: card weekend, in the first round playoff game. Whereas if
- 29:47Speaker 1: they can keep winning and keep this momentum, at least
- 29:49Speaker 1: they win the division, you wouldn't have to see them
- 29:51Speaker 1: until a little later on.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Do we have any updates on Philip Rivers tryout with
- 29:56Speaker 2: the Colts.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Went well, well.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Listen, I could see bringing him in, you know, like
- 30:04Speaker 2: he knows. Oh my god, he probably held enough of
- 30:07Speaker 2: life in his head that you don't have to like,
- 30:10Speaker 2: you know, get him up to speed, just put him
- 30:12Speaker 2: out there, let's play football.
- 30:14Speaker 3: It sounds like he's gonna it. Sounds like it would
- 30:17Speaker 3: be a backup, that they would still ll.
- 30:20Speaker 4: Be a backup and reset your Hall of Fame came.
- 30:22Speaker 3: I guess he has like some sort of connection with
- 30:24Speaker 3: Riley Leonard that he's worked with in the past, and
- 30:28Speaker 3: so they feel like that maybe he could be like
- 30:30Speaker 3: a mentor type of influence on him during this whole thing.
- 30:35Speaker 3: I've heard the the Houston thing a lot. Their offense
- 30:38Speaker 3: is not very good.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Yeah, and I get that. You I guest you could
- 30:42Speaker 1: get into with them. I get that they look good
- 30:46Speaker 1: offensively in the first half of that game and then
- 30:48Speaker 1: they do.
- 30:48Speaker 3: Yeah, they've had They've had a lot of issues, offensive
- 30:53Speaker 3: line issues, play calling issues, you know. Yeah, I don't know.
- 30:58Speaker 3: I mean, maybe Stroud gets hot. I could see that
- 31:01Speaker 3: Nico Collins is a great player, but.
- 31:04Speaker 1: See, I think Stroud is significantly better than Bo Nicks.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's why I could see that.
- 31:08Speaker 1: When you talk about those defenses, yeah.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Be careful, right, Well, that's why I would put.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Defense coming back. I mean, he missed that time with
- 31:15Speaker 1: a concussion. I still believe.
- 31:17Speaker 3: I get it. I get I get why people talk
- 31:20Speaker 3: that way about the Texans. I still just really like
- 31:25Speaker 3: the Patriots. In any game where they don't like, I
- 31:27Speaker 3: still feel like the way to beat the Patriots or
- 31:29Speaker 3: the way that they get knocked off is in some
- 31:31Speaker 3: sort of shootout, like a classic Drake May Josh Allen
- 31:35Speaker 3: go twelve rounds and Josh Allen has the ball last,
- 31:38Speaker 3: and it's just one of those types of games. I
- 31:41Speaker 3: don't know if are twenty to seventeen rock fight with
- 31:45Speaker 3: the Texans, you know, is really the way they go down?
- 31:48Speaker 5: To me, it's I think I've said before, like I
- 31:50Speaker 5: view most of the league like is your defense good enough?
- 31:53Speaker 5: But there are a couple of defense I think that
- 31:55Speaker 5: are above that line and can actually dictate a game.
- 31:58Speaker 5: I would put Houston's absolutely those two defenses seem like
- 32:02Speaker 5: they're going to be a you know, tough, tough.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Funny when I when I watch and I admittedly do
- 32:06Speaker 1: not watch those teams on a weekly basis, but when
- 32:08Speaker 1: I watch Houston's defense, it seems to me to be
- 32:11Speaker 1: significantly better than Denvers. When I watch Denver's defense, Yeah,
- 32:15Speaker 1: and I know they're both very good, Yeah, but they
- 32:18Speaker 1: got the pieces.
- 32:18Speaker 4: I mean they both have, you know, good edge players,
- 32:21Speaker 4: good interior.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Me issue I'm looking at like Will Anderson and Deil
- 32:25Speaker 1: Hunter at a different level than I am, like a
- 32:26Speaker 1: Nick Benito.
- 32:27Speaker 4: Yeah, well, they've really been highlighted.
- 32:28Speaker 3: I feel like the last well Will Anderson is Yeah,
- 32:31Speaker 3: Will Anderson is the real deal. Yeah, their metrics are weird.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Their pass rush metrics like aren't as good as you
- 32:36Speaker 3: would expect. And I was like kind of questioning life.
- 32:39Speaker 10: You know.
- 32:40Speaker 5: It's like sometimes in the defense, just like these guys
- 32:42Speaker 5: are controlling the.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Line of st numbers, the Broncos dominate, like the Aussos
- 32:45Speaker 1: might set a record for sacks, but I don't look
- 32:47Speaker 1: at them as being as ferocious as I do Houston.
- 32:50Speaker 2: So I want to open it up to the fans
- 32:52Speaker 2: and listeners. But before we do that, Paul, any referee
- 32:56Speaker 2: moments or time clock management moments that really bothered you.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I'm glad you last because you sort of alluded to
- 33:02Speaker 1: the fact that Joe Burrow was on the take in
- 33:04Speaker 1: the Bengals game.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I never said that. I never said I said right
- 33:10Speaker 2: up to the line and then stopped. So I just
- 33:11Speaker 2: said it was weird that he had two consecutives drive. Weird.
- 33:14Speaker 1: The way that happened was the way you said it.
- 33:16Speaker 2: But nothing nothing to do with you know, your stuff.
- 33:20Speaker 1: There needs to be an investigation on the Steelers officials
- 33:23Speaker 1: in that game that, as Joe Murray would say, that
- 33:27Speaker 1: was smelly, That was smelling.
- 33:30Speaker 3: The Isaiah likely touched all of it.
- 33:32Speaker 1: The Isaiah to call on the on the field goal,
- 33:36Speaker 1: which the NFL has admitted that was the wrong call.
- 33:39Speaker 1: That call in the end zone, which I've never fifty
- 33:42Speaker 1: seven years of watching football, I've never heard the act
- 33:48Speaker 1: needed to make an act come into the game. And
- 33:50Speaker 1: then when asked to define that, it's a football move
- 33:53Speaker 1: common in all the game, that's fine, but an act
- 33:55Speaker 1: comment too the game. When asked to find what that
- 33:57Speaker 1: would be, the answer was a third step. I've never
- 34:01Speaker 1: heard a third step being required for.
- 34:03Speaker 3: It was weird because he took like six steps, but
- 34:07Speaker 3: like they were like in quick succession, and he was
- 34:09Speaker 3: still like he had the ball, but the defender was
- 34:11Speaker 3: starting to try to pry the ball out and so
- 34:13Speaker 3: so it's like when I thought it was a touchdown too,
- 34:17Speaker 3: but I could see if you're watching it full speed
- 34:19Speaker 3: versus watching it frame by frame. When you watch it
- 34:22Speaker 3: frame by frame, Monicalay, they held it the other way around.
- 34:24Speaker 1: They fold speed. They called it a touchdown, and then reverse.
- 34:27Speaker 3: When you saw it frame by frame, You're like, this
- 34:28Speaker 3: guy had the ball for ten minutes.
- 34:30Speaker 4: What are you talking about?
- 34:32Speaker 3: Yeah, But then when you watch it in real time
- 34:34Speaker 3: and it kind of comes out quick quicker.
- 34:36Speaker 1: And then the other one in that same game, Rogers
- 34:39Speaker 1: gets a ball battered at the line and he jumps
- 34:42Speaker 1: up and puts two hands on it, and then the
- 34:44Speaker 1: raven comes in and they're battling over the ball and
- 34:46Speaker 1: Rogers goes to his knee as the guy's ripping out
- 34:50Speaker 1: of his hands, and they claim no third step, calm
- 34:53Speaker 1: and move comm into the game, move necessary. He's down
- 34:57Speaker 1: by contact with the ball in his hands, which if
- 34:59Speaker 1: he he had it in his hands while he was
- 35:01Speaker 1: down by contact, it was for a millisecond, and they
- 35:05Speaker 1: said that that's no no turnover like that game smelled
- 35:09Speaker 1: fred okay, smelly all right, as my buddy Joe Mury
- 35:14Speaker 1: likes to say, okay, okay. Now, I know everybody was
- 35:17Speaker 1: up in arms about the bronco Is Raiders game in
- 35:19Speaker 1: terms of the gambling aspect. That was the Raiders kick
- 35:23Speaker 1: a field goals as time expired. Like, I don't know
- 35:25Speaker 1: what they're supposed to do there.
- 35:28Speaker 3: To cover that spread.
- 35:29Speaker 1: That's a bad beat. That's a bad like my heart
- 35:33Speaker 1: goes out to my gambling brethren. I am not allowed
- 35:36Speaker 1: to do that sort of thing, so I didn't worry
- 35:38Speaker 1: about it, but he's trying to make it so this
- 35:44Speaker 1: he was lobbying for more time on the car. He's
- 35:46Speaker 1: trying to kick the field goal and have the big
- 35:48Speaker 1: time left for a possible miracle.
- 35:51Speaker 3: A touchdown on a nine side kick, right, That's the
- 35:54Speaker 3: only way it would have been able to But it
- 35:55Speaker 3: did make it a one score game, right, which you
- 35:58Speaker 3: know how these coaches are, well, we had eight one
- 36:00Speaker 3: score losses last year.
- 36:01Speaker 1: I'm just saying, like, somehow I think fill a hill
- 36:06Speaker 1: Mary on that. I'm like, you would have felt better
- 36:07Speaker 1: if you lost on a hill, Mary instead of the field, Like,
- 36:09Speaker 1: why would that make you feel better?
- 36:11Speaker 3: I did like that they covered the because it supports
- 36:13Speaker 3: my anti Broncos agenda. I know it was yeah, but
- 36:19Speaker 3: I know, but you know, one score game.
- 36:21Speaker 4: I pictured the Raiders with the spread, So that.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Was like the one that was like the one time
- 36:26Speaker 3: where I was like, you know what, Broncos, good for you.
- 36:28Speaker 3: You played a bad team and you kick their butts.
- 36:31Speaker 3: There's here's some flowers. Good job he did. Didn't win
- 36:35Speaker 3: by one point?
- 36:36Speaker 4: All right?
- 36:36Speaker 2: Eight five five Pats five hundred is the Hotline podcasts
- 36:41Speaker 2: at Patriots dot Com is the email address. That's how
- 36:45Speaker 2: you engage with us during the show.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Did you have any referee things. I didn't really have
- 36:51Speaker 1: any clock management issues this week, none that really stood
- 36:55Speaker 1: out to me.
- 36:55Speaker 2: No.
- 36:56Speaker 1: I thought the Bears did a really nice job. Actually,
- 36:59Speaker 1: they got it very patient. I thought Ben Johnson V's
- 37:02Speaker 1: boy was very patient, stuck with the run. Even in
- 37:06Speaker 1: the last two minutes. They moved and obviously had every
- 37:10Speaker 1: opportunity to tie the game. And Caleb his one bad throw,
- 37:13Speaker 1: he just underthrew it. He had comet in the end zone.
- 37:16Speaker 1: But they didn't run out of time, they didn't run
- 37:18Speaker 1: out of space, they didn't run out of plays. They
- 37:19Speaker 1: just didn't execute the last play. Yeah, that said Fred,
- 37:24Speaker 1: good showing by your Bears at Lambeau. I thought they
- 37:27Speaker 1: were competed. I thought they were in trouble in that
- 37:30Speaker 1: game throughout and just kept finding a way to get
- 37:32Speaker 1: back in the game. And uh yeah, Caleb was kind
- 37:36Speaker 1: of quiet for periods of the game. But man, did
- 37:39Speaker 1: he make some throws on that last stride.
- 37:41Speaker 3: He can rip it, big packers.
- 37:42Speaker 2: He has an amazing arm, but his propensity to like
- 37:46Speaker 2: scramble out and leave himself only half the field and
- 37:50Speaker 2: make the play as he goes to the sideline, that's
- 37:52Speaker 2: gonna wear out. That's a hard way to live. A
- 37:54Speaker 2: lot of his plays come that way.
- 37:55Speaker 3: He has to get better at, you know, in structure
- 37:58Speaker 3: conventional offense. He's got some of the best highlight reel
- 38:02Speaker 3: throws of any quarterback in the NFL. But he's going
- 38:05Speaker 3: to be consistently good. He's going to have to do
- 38:07Speaker 3: some of those.
- 38:08Speaker 1: I think he had two throws on that last drive
- 38:10Speaker 1: that were just like, yeah.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Really agreed, he's quite a time shot maker.
- 38:15Speaker 1: And then he under threw the big one because he
- 38:18Speaker 1: had him he did.
- 38:19Speaker 3: Can we talk a really quickly a little college football
- 38:23Speaker 3: minute here.
- 38:23Speaker 2: For because.
- 38:26Speaker 3: First of all, well, we can get to the playoff
- 38:29Speaker 3: if we want to.
- 38:29Speaker 2: But this is uh talk about in the past.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 38:34Speaker 3: On Saturday night, for Nanda, Mendoza became the number one
- 38:36Speaker 3: pick in the draft, Like that's who that's over the
- 38:41Speaker 3: Indiana's quarterback?
- 38:43Speaker 1: Who was he?
- 38:44Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 38:44Speaker 1: Fred I did he gave me an opportion to I
- 38:47Speaker 1: don't know.
- 38:47Speaker 2: I saw a little bit of that.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Good job, Douce, good job. I'm barring an absolute collapse
- 38:55Speaker 3: in the playoff, He's going to be the number one
- 38:57Speaker 3: overall pick, and I think that there could be multiple
- 39:01Speaker 3: teams trying to get him as the number one overall
- 39:04Speaker 3: pay you.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Know, because people were going to look at it and go, Wow,
- 39:06Speaker 2: what Mary Indiana is so good and it's because of him,
- 39:11Speaker 2: not just so good, like like really good.
- 39:14Speaker 3: Their head coach is fantastic.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Defense was unbelievable, but he is.
- 39:18Speaker 3: He's the real deal. I mean some of the throws
- 39:20Speaker 3: that he made down the stretch in that game in
- 39:22Speaker 3: the fourth quarter where he seems smart and that's the
- 39:24Speaker 3: best defense in college football. Yeah, the fade ball at
- 39:27Speaker 3: the end, that's a defense in the nation signet, that's
- 39:33Speaker 3: how you do it. Really good player.
- 39:35Speaker 2: He's like a real cerebral guy too, So.
- 39:37Speaker 4: A battle for him.
- 39:39Speaker 1: I say this only half in jest. Yes, would it
- 39:42Speaker 1: give you any pause to watch his postgame?
- 39:46Speaker 3: Yes, It's exactly what I texted Barth after the game
- 39:50Speaker 3: as I was watching him basically move to tears in
- 39:53Speaker 3: the postgame interview and act like a little bit of
- 39:56Speaker 3: a hard just He's got that little like nervous, like
- 40:00Speaker 3: geek energy, and I like it, but I also am like,
- 40:03Speaker 3: we gotta have a little bit more Joe cool to us.
- 40:06Speaker 1: You know, like I just texted my brother as soon
- 40:08Speaker 1: as it half. I said that interview would scare the
- 40:10Speaker 1: bleep out of me.
- 40:11Speaker 3: He will be asked about that in the draft. In
- 40:15Speaker 3: the draft process.
- 40:17Speaker 1: He was really good.
- 40:18Speaker 3: He's fantastic, He's really good.
- 40:20Speaker 1: I was bummed out. He got lit up on like
- 40:22Speaker 1: his first pass attempt of the game. After we threw it,
- 40:25Speaker 1: he got a hit. It was a clean hit and
- 40:28Speaker 1: he was down and I was like, Oh, you gotta
- 40:30Speaker 1: be kidding this like the game of the year one
- 40:32Speaker 1: versus two and he's going to be out. But he
- 40:35Speaker 1: only missed like one play. His brother came and his.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Brothers the backup.
- 40:39Speaker 4: Did he to come out of nowhere this year? I
- 40:40Speaker 4: don't really remember last year.
- 40:42Speaker 3: No, last year, and I was a college football playoff
- 40:45Speaker 3: team as well, and really good program.
- 40:47Speaker 4: But was he was he getting hyped for first overall
- 40:49Speaker 4: pick yet?
- 40:51Speaker 3: I don't know about first overall pick, but certainly part
- 40:53Speaker 3: of this quarterback class and has really kind of lapped
- 40:57Speaker 3: the field and uh, you know.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Most of those guys had down he did not.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Yeah, and then Tulane and gmu getting in is just
- 41:05Speaker 3: an absolute travesty.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Like I have no issue with Tulane. I have no issue.
- 41:09Speaker 1: If you want to have one of those, just say like,
- 41:11Speaker 1: because you can't just exclude you know, half the country.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Yes you can.
- 41:15Speaker 1: But the rule that they put in that the five
- 41:20Speaker 1: highest rated conference champions are automatic is insane. There's no
- 41:25Speaker 1: And I love JM you your guy. You have your
- 41:27Speaker 1: holy Cross shaired on. Bob Chesney is the James Madison
- 41:31Speaker 1: coach who's now going to be going to UCLA. Good
- 41:33Speaker 1: for them, they had a great year. They don't belong.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Evan's exactly right, they're going to get boat raced, and
- 41:38Speaker 1: now you have two of those teams that are that
- 41:40Speaker 1: are kind of in that situation where they don't really belong.
- 41:44Speaker 1: I don't understand why you set yourself up that way.
- 41:47Speaker 4: No eighteen with eighteen playoff?
- 41:49Speaker 1: No?
- 41:49Speaker 3: Or is that the twelve?
- 41:50Speaker 4: Well, I mean, you know, make all the good games
- 41:52Speaker 4: you want to, you know.
- 41:53Speaker 1: But so again, there's four power conferences and then there's
- 41:56Speaker 1: the group of five. So I understand you don't want
- 41:58Speaker 1: to exclude like Boise State had a representative performance last year,
- 42:02Speaker 1: they didn't get killed, and they were the group of five.
- 42:05Speaker 1: So the best of the rest goes. I don't need
- 42:09Speaker 1: two the two best of the rest.
- 42:11Speaker 3: But Boise if you just had picked the top twelve
- 42:13Speaker 3: teams in Boise State would have been in it last year.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Maybe anyway, I don't think so.
- 42:18Speaker 3: But I mean higher ranked than Tulane and JMU are yes,
- 42:21Speaker 3: and so like maybe they were the sixteenth ranked team
- 42:24Speaker 3: in the country instead of the twelfth. But like, this
- 42:27Speaker 3: is a situation where there's a very real chance that
- 42:29Speaker 3: both those teams lose by like three or four touchdowns,
- 42:32Speaker 3: and they're.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Especially James Madison. Well, at least Tulane played Old Miss
- 42:36Speaker 1: and that game was a little bit closer than the
- 42:38Speaker 1: score indicates. I think they get up like twenty two
- 42:40Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter to make it a real blowout.
- 42:43Speaker 1: They have to play Old Miss again. Who knows what
- 42:45Speaker 1: Ole Miss is going to be?
- 42:46Speaker 5: Like, I will say this though, I mean, you guys
- 42:49Speaker 5: know better than me. I mean, I know, was it
- 42:51Speaker 5: Dan Lanning in Oregon seem pretty hard out, But I've
- 42:54Speaker 5: seen Chesney go into the was it the the FCS
- 42:58Speaker 5: I guess semi finals against South Dakota, who's always awesome.
- 43:01Speaker 4: They were outmatched.
- 43:02Speaker 5: They everyone was saying they're gonna get killed, and he
- 43:05Speaker 5: was just crazy aggressive. I mean and just going for
- 43:09Speaker 5: on site kicks right off the bat. I'm not saying
- 43:10Speaker 5: they're gonna win the game.
- 43:11Speaker 1: I'm just saying, if you're going to watch the game,
- 43:13Speaker 1: I hope you're right.
- 43:13Speaker 5: They caution to the win and they're gonna have double
- 43:15Speaker 5: passes and all kinds of stuff.
- 43:17Speaker 4: They're there for the first catch Dakota. But then they.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Played a couple of teams that were you know, they
- 43:22Speaker 1: played Washington State as an example, who's not exactly a power,
- 43:27Speaker 1: and they were life and death with them. I think
- 43:29Speaker 1: they won on the last second field goal. So I
- 43:32Speaker 1: don't I don't see it, but I'm rooting for it.
- 43:34Speaker 1: I hope it's a close game. I love the playoff.
- 43:37Speaker 1: I love the drama it creates. I was glued to
- 43:39Speaker 1: that that drawing, and I just, you know, one of
- 43:43Speaker 1: these years, Fred, I don't know, maybe maybe the breaks
- 43:46Speaker 1: will go Notre Dame's way on one of these times,
- 43:49Speaker 1: and maybe they'll get a break and they'll get a
- 43:51Speaker 1: playoff bid or something.
- 43:52Speaker 3: I wish it wasn't Notre Dame because I'm very big
- 43:55Speaker 3: on it should be the twelve best teams. Like, I
- 43:57Speaker 3: don't care what conference you're in. I don't care if
- 43:59Speaker 3: he won the Sun Belt, like I'm not, I don't care.
- 44:02Speaker 3: It should just be the top twelve teams. But then
- 44:05Speaker 3: in order to have that take, I have to defend
- 44:07Speaker 3: Notre Dame, which I really hate, but like even BYU,
- 44:10Speaker 3: I think, okay, why it all?
- 44:12Speaker 1: See this is because they do the way they do it,
- 44:15Speaker 1: and they have these rankings come out the four or
- 44:17Speaker 1: five previous weeks, and they had Notre Dame ahead of BYU,
- 44:21Speaker 1: who was ahead of Miami, and for some reason, that
- 44:25Speaker 1: eliminated the possibility of the committee comparing Miami a Notre Dame,
- 44:28Speaker 1: which makes no sense to me. No one's explained that
- 44:31Speaker 1: to me as to why BYU losing in the Big
- 44:33Speaker 1: twelve championship game dropped them behind Miami and put Miami
- 44:37Speaker 1: now next to Notre Dame. So now they said, huh,
- 44:40Speaker 1: those two teams played. They have like the same schedule
- 44:42Speaker 1: all year, and they played each other and Miami beat them.
- 44:45Speaker 1: We're gonna put Miami over. I don't know why that
- 44:47Speaker 1: had to happen before they ever compared those two teams.
- 44:50Speaker 1: But Evan's right. Why BYU only lost Texas Texas twice
- 44:55Speaker 1: to Texas Tech. Why are they out right, that's not
- 44:59Speaker 1: I mean those could take or worse twice. Yeah, you know,
- 45:03Speaker 1: and I listen, I don't think by us all that good.
- 45:05Speaker 1: This is not necessarily would I would make an argument
- 45:08Speaker 1: more for like Vanderbilt or Texas, but I.
- 45:12Speaker 3: Don't get I would love to see Texas, but that
- 45:14Speaker 3: was because.
- 45:15Speaker 1: I think Texas was playing really well at the end
- 45:17Speaker 1: of the year in Tennessee.
- 45:18Speaker 3: And like, I just think it's all like which teams
- 45:21Speaker 3: have a legitimate chance to actually win the national championship?
- 45:24Speaker 1: And I think I can make an argument that Notre
- 45:25Speaker 1: Dame would. Yes, you can make an argument that Vanderbilt
- 45:28Speaker 1: could have made a run. I think you could make
- 45:30Speaker 1: an argument that Texas could have made a run. You
- 45:32Speaker 1: cannot make a run argument an argument for James Madison.
- 45:35Speaker 2: All Right, we said we're going to briefly talk about college.
- 45:37Speaker 2: All right.
- 45:37Speaker 1: I'm sorry, ever, and I like, I'm so sorry that
- 45:41Speaker 1: college football on the bye.
- 45:43Speaker 3: Week that we talked about college.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Say that for catch twenty two.
- 45:48Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sure we will.
- 45:49Speaker 2: All right, let's get to the phones. We'll go to
- 45:51Speaker 2: Sam in Easton. What's up, Sam? Hey, guys, how you
- 45:56Speaker 2: doing good?
- 45:56Speaker 4: Sam?
- 45:58Speaker 7: Yeah? I got a question for all you guys, and
- 46:00Speaker 7: then one for Paul if you let me have time here.
- 46:03Speaker 7: But are you guys all a little bit superstitious with football?
- 46:07Speaker 1: Yeah? Sure, I'm pretty superstitious in general. Yeah, so I
- 46:12Speaker 1: think we're.
- 46:12Speaker 7: On a collision course to play Buffalo in the playoffs.
- 46:15Speaker 7: Do you feel better going into that playoff game having
- 46:18Speaker 7: swept Buffalo or split in the series with a guy
- 46:21Speaker 7: like Josh Allen?
- 46:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a good question.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Now you have to beat him three times?
- 46:24Speaker 1: Beat him?
- 46:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I looked it up.
- 46:26Speaker 7: It's only happened twenty four times this nineteen seventy that
- 46:29Speaker 7: division opponent has swept another DIFFERENTI opponent, and most recently
- 46:34Speaker 7: was Philly beat.
- 46:34Speaker 6: The Giants who stuck.
- 46:35Speaker 2: So twenty four times out of how many opportunities, you
- 46:38Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 46:39Speaker 10: Like, I mean, it's.
- 46:40Speaker 7: Fifty six years though, you got to think it happens
- 46:42Speaker 7: at least one.
- 46:43Speaker 1: But you're saying that they played three times in.
- 46:47Speaker 7: In one season counting a playoff game, right, like sweet?
- 46:50Speaker 1: And it happened twenty four times one team had won
- 46:53Speaker 1: the previous two.
- 46:56Speaker 7: Yes, yeah, only twenty four times that's happened.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Okay, So how many times did it happened where one
- 47:01Speaker 2: team won the previous two to.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Oh, like, so twenty four times one team was two
- 47:05Speaker 1: and zero in the regular season, then they played in
- 47:07Speaker 1: the game and.
- 47:08Speaker 7: Won for this and they won, right, they won? They
- 47:12Speaker 7: guess the opponent three different times in one year.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Yeah, So he's saying twenty four times they won three times,
- 47:17Speaker 2: and I'm saying out of how many.
- 47:18Speaker 3: No, he's saying three of twenty four pulled it off, right,
- 47:22Speaker 3: that's what you're saying.
- 47:23Speaker 7: No, no, no, What I'm saying is to win three
- 47:25Speaker 7: division games. It's only happened twenty four times that a
- 47:28Speaker 7: team has swept their opponent, right, regular season and playoffs, right,
- 47:32Speaker 7: So it parts a lot.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right to me, that's a lot. Twenty four
- 47:36Speaker 1: times a team went three and ozero against the team.
- 47:38Speaker 2: And out of fifty six years, that's a lot.
- 47:42Speaker 1: Yeah, that seems like a lot to I don't think though.
- 47:44Speaker 7: I think there's a lot of division matchups, and especially
- 47:47Speaker 7: with a guy of Josh Allen's caliber, I just don't
- 47:49Speaker 7: see him losing to us uh three times. I just
- 47:52Speaker 7: have a feeling we're going to lose this week and
- 47:54Speaker 7: then we're going to get them in the playoffs.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Okay, that's fine, but I get that.
- 47:57Speaker 1: I mean, that doesn't fall into the superstition part to me.
- 48:01Speaker 1: But I would rather be the team that won twice.
- 48:04Speaker 1: I'd rather Buffalo have a little doubt. Yeah, you know
- 48:07Speaker 1: what I mean. I'd have Buffalo come into that game like,
- 48:09Speaker 1: I think we're the better team, but they.
- 48:10Speaker 5: Beat us twe But remember the Jets, right, you hammered
- 48:14Speaker 5: him here like forty five.
- 48:16Speaker 1: You didn't beat them, but you didn't beat them earlier.
- 48:18Speaker 4: Oh you did, you hammered him and then like four weeks.
- 48:22Speaker 1: So that's what I think he's talking about, Like teams
- 48:24Speaker 1: that played three times. I can't imagine that there's been
- 48:27Speaker 1: twenty four to three and oh's right.
- 48:29Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't know.
- 48:31Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 48:31Speaker 4: He probably did.
- 48:33Speaker 1: If you have a question, Yeah, what.
- 48:40Speaker 7: Why do you always think DJ Stroud is one of
- 48:43Speaker 7: the best TV's. I think he's a good player, but
- 48:45Speaker 7: I think.
- 48:46Speaker 1: One of the best quarterbacks.
- 48:48Speaker 2: Yeah you do.
- 48:49Speaker 1: I've never put him in the homes ally.
- 48:51Speaker 7: An excellent quarterback.
- 48:53Speaker 1: I think he I think he is a very good quarterback,
- 48:55Speaker 1: but I don't put him in the best category with
- 48:57Speaker 1: mahomes about him.
- 48:58Speaker 7: That's that good I mean, I.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Don't think he's I think he's extremely accurate, extremely accurate. Yeah,
- 49:05Speaker 1: I think I think he's really good, Okay, but I don't.
- 49:09Speaker 1: I don't put him in the elite category with with Mahomes,
- 49:12Speaker 1: Alan Burrow, and I would put I'm gonna put me
- 49:16Speaker 1: in there now based on this season.
- 49:18Speaker 7: I would, but.
- 49:22Speaker 1: Stroud did this two years ago, and everybody's forgotten about
- 49:24Speaker 1: Stroud better than Herbert. No, Stroud better than Herbert. No,
- 49:28Speaker 1: I don't put him in Herbert's category either, and people
- 49:30Speaker 1: will tell you Herbert stinks too.
- 49:32Speaker 3: I think there's like three tiers of quarterbacks right now.
- 49:35Speaker 3: There's like my second tiers, Okay, so I don't know
- 49:39Speaker 3: if I like, there's like the S tier, which is Alan, Mahomes,
- 49:43Speaker 3: Lamar Burrow. I think that those four, I mean, Drake's
- 49:47Speaker 3: knocking on the on the club of the door, but
- 49:50Speaker 3: those four are then it's the next tier I think
- 49:53Speaker 3: is Stafford Drake, Like, maybe do you put Stroud in there?
- 49:58Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 49:58Speaker 1: I would put Herbert Herberts, and I would put Stroud
- 50:02Speaker 1: as long as Stroud's healthy. I think that that concussion.
- 50:06Speaker 2: That I don't think Stroud's as good as May.
- 50:09Speaker 1: Uh right, now, he's not right, it's not as mobile as.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Yeah, the two and three tier gets murky because then
- 50:15Speaker 3: you also have to like.
- 50:19Speaker 1: The same player too. I mean, like, I don't I
- 50:22Speaker 1: don't put Stroud in the elite category. I don't put
- 50:24Speaker 1: May there yet either, Right.
- 50:26Speaker 2: No, that's fine. There's only four in that well.
- 50:28Speaker 1: That's yeah, that's the club Danny's and Daytona.
- 50:33Speaker 2: What's up, Danny?
- 50:35Speaker 11: Can you guys hear me?
- 50:36Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 50:38Speaker 11: He so, I had a couple of takes. I know
- 50:41Speaker 11: you guys have been seeing it's been crazy around the
- 50:44Speaker 11: league with all the news. But I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 50:46Speaker 11: get straight to the Patriots. So when I heard a
- 50:50Speaker 11: lot of Paul's guys, a lot of your guys are
- 50:52Speaker 11: talking about some points that you guys talk for the
- 50:54Speaker 11: bye week about.
- 50:57Speaker 10: The run game.
- 50:58Speaker 11: I think the two deficiencies which I brought up last call.
- 51:01Speaker 11: I called you all a week ago with Bearringer that
- 51:04Speaker 11: a lot of people are talking about him though he's
- 51:06Speaker 11: growing some heat. Did you know the that's gonna be
- 51:08Speaker 11: that field of advantage where he's shanking punts. I see
- 51:12Speaker 11: that happening coming again this coming week. He's probably gonna
- 51:15Speaker 11: shank a couple of punts that'll screw us over, and
- 51:18Speaker 11: then the run game it's just uh. I was gonna
- 51:22Speaker 11: bring on a point to Evan's point that I think
- 51:25Speaker 11: that this season they're just gonna have to bandage it
- 51:28Speaker 11: for the rest of the season and going into the playoffs.
- 51:31Speaker 11: They don't have that dynamic line that you know that
- 51:34Speaker 11: we were used to through the Brady you know, the
- 51:37Speaker 11: the latter part of the Dynasty where they had Cannon
- 51:40Speaker 11: and you know, and Andrews and stuff like that. So
- 51:44Speaker 11: they don't have that dynamic fullback. They're just kind of
- 51:47Speaker 11: throwing random guys back there to block. So I think
- 51:50Speaker 11: the run game is gonna be what it is until
- 51:53Speaker 11: we can actually get the full pieces next season. So
- 51:56Speaker 11: I think Mike's just gonna have to Mike and Josh
- 51:58Speaker 11: are just gonna have to glue it and make it work. Yeah,
- 52:01Speaker 11: I just don't see the run game working right.
- 52:05Speaker 3: I'm not as I'm not worried about the run game
- 52:08Speaker 3: outside of situational running, Like when it's third and one,
- 52:11Speaker 3: you got to be able to pick up a yard.
- 52:13Speaker 3: When you're on the goal line, you got to be
- 52:14Speaker 3: able to punch the ball in their passing game is
- 52:16Speaker 3: so good that I don't think they need this like
- 52:18Speaker 3: great running game between the twenties. But situationally, they have
- 52:22Speaker 3: to be better. They have to be better in goal
- 52:23Speaker 3: to go. They have to be better in third and short.
- 52:26Speaker 3: You know, they're almost as good in third and long
- 52:28Speaker 3: as they are in third and short because they're third
- 52:30Speaker 3: and short package. They don't run the ball well. So
- 52:33Speaker 3: they got to figure that out. Hopefully getting Toanga back.
- 52:36Speaker 4: That's what I was going to say yesterday practice. A
- 52:37Speaker 4: couple guys back out there.
- 52:38Speaker 3: Yeah, Tonga was limited, but he was out there, so hopefully,
- 52:42Speaker 3: you know, he comes back. Maybe they run Drake more
- 52:45Speaker 3: once the games get more, the stakes get higher in
- 52:48Speaker 3: some of these bigger games, maybe his legs become a
- 52:51Speaker 3: factor more in some of these short yardage type of situations.
- 52:55Speaker 3: But I'm not too concerned that they can't run it,
- 52:57Speaker 3: you know between the twenties forty times a game, like
- 53:00Speaker 3: they can throw it forty times a game.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Brett writes in he says, if the
- 53:05Speaker 2: Eagles don't make the AFC Conference game, aj Brown is
- 53:07Speaker 2: a Patriot next year, bet love Rabel heartbroken that he
- 53:11Speaker 2: didn't get traded to the drafted by the Patriots. Rabel
- 53:14Speaker 2: didn't approve of trading him to the Titans. Patriots have
- 53:17Speaker 2: a great track record of getting the last best bits
- 53:20Speaker 2: of older wide receivers and Josh F n McDaniels, I
- 53:24Speaker 2: know the contract stuff is a hurtle, but nothing is
- 53:26Speaker 2: impossible when it comes to getting deals done. AJ Brown
- 53:30Speaker 2: reunites with an amazing head coach and an OC that
- 53:32Speaker 2: he wanted to play under coming out of the draft,
- 53:34Speaker 2: and aj gets to leave his stamp on getting the
- 53:37Speaker 2: Patriots their seventh Lombardi next season.
- 53:41Speaker 1: I don't like that talk, right.
- 53:46Speaker 3: Am I wrong to be a little bit worried about
- 53:47Speaker 3: Aj Brown?
- 53:48Speaker 2: He had then he well he had a lot of
- 53:50Speaker 2: your honest but he had a lot of drops last
- 53:52Speaker 2: night too.
- 53:52Speaker 3: He just doesn't look the same.
- 53:54Speaker 1: He runs all that well. But I'd be I'd be
- 53:58Speaker 1: interested in that kind of a I see what Evan's
- 54:02Speaker 1: talking about.
- 54:03Speaker 3: I would be interested in it because it's it's sam
- 54:05Speaker 3: kind of like when they signed Digs. Like, if it
- 54:08Speaker 3: works out, then you're gonna get a great AJ Brown
- 54:11Speaker 3: season and it's worth it. But he's been part of
- 54:15Speaker 3: the problem in Philly. He's been as much a part
- 54:17Speaker 3: of the problem as Jalen Hurts in a lot of ways.
- 54:18Speaker 3: And like last night, Jalen Hurts could not have thrown
- 54:21Speaker 3: that ball any better for that touchdown that would have
- 54:23Speaker 3: won the game at the end of the game, and
- 54:25Speaker 3: he dropped it. He fled out dropping it. Yeah, I
- 54:28Speaker 3: mean he literally put it right on his hands, like,
- 54:29Speaker 3: could not have thrown anybody.
- 54:31Speaker 1: You picked right? Yes, thereafter?
- 54:33Speaker 3: Do you want me to clear up the Division three
- 54:35Speaker 3: time thing? So there's been twenty four total instances of
- 54:40Speaker 3: that happening. Teams that are going for three and zero
- 54:44Speaker 3: are fifteen and nine, which is actually pretty pretty good.
- 54:47Speaker 3: And I thought pretty good.
- 54:48Speaker 1: Okay, because so if you're better, if you've won the
- 54:52Speaker 1: first two, yeah, and chances are you're going to win
- 54:54Speaker 1: all three if you if you're the better team.
- 54:56Speaker 3: We do have breaking news about Grampa Rivers. He he
- 55:00Speaker 3: is indeed signing with the Colts. Okay, forty four year
- 55:03Speaker 3: old Philip Rivers is signing with the Indianapolis Colts to
- 55:07Speaker 3: their practice squad though, so this is designed to be
- 55:10Speaker 3: a backup for now, but the practice squad.
- 55:13Speaker 1: Wow, So that does not reset his Hall of Fame
- 55:15Speaker 1: not yeah, which was everybody was very concerned about But
- 55:18Speaker 1: are we sure Philip Rivers is a Hall of Famer.
- 55:21Speaker 1: I'm not either, and everybody's acting like we're gonna take
- 55:24Speaker 1: them off.
- 55:25Speaker 4: Today's like the Hall of Fame children production.
- 55:29Speaker 2: I would say Jeremiah says, I disagree with Mike. Mike
- 55:33Speaker 2: is a great guy and an all time Boston podcaster,
- 55:36Speaker 2: but he is overreacting a bit about what I don't know.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Drake was able to out Superhero Allen last time, and
- 55:44Speaker 2: he has been playing at an MVP level all season.
- 55:47Speaker 2: The only way Mike Mike's scenario comes to fruition. What's
- 55:51Speaker 2: your scenario that I think Josh gets the MVP probably
- 55:54Speaker 2: is if Drake completely falls on his face, which I'm.
- 55:57Speaker 1: Not banking on. Yeah, no, that's not But that's not true.
- 56:01Speaker 1: The only way the Bills can win is if Drake
- 56:02Speaker 1: falls on his face.
- 56:04Speaker 2: No MVP for Josh Allen.
- 56:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think that's true. Like Drake has toast face.
- 56:11Speaker 2: That's what he said. You don't have to agree with him.
- 56:16Speaker 1: But do you think that, I mean, forget me. Do
- 56:19Speaker 1: you think that he has to.
- 56:20Speaker 2: No, I think has to fall apart right now. I
- 56:23Speaker 2: think at this moment in time, I think Josh Allen
- 56:27Speaker 2: is ahead of him by a helmet because the Bills
- 56:31Speaker 2: aren't that great, their defense isn't playing that well, and
- 56:34Speaker 2: he doesn't have a lot of weapons, not that Drake has,
- 56:37Speaker 2: you know, Randy Mawson, Ron Gronkowski, but I think Josh
- 56:41Speaker 2: Allen's putting that team more on his shoulders than Drake lately.
- 56:46Speaker 2: Now let's see down the stretch.
- 56:47Speaker 3: Yeah, you think Josh Allen's ahead of Drake and the
- 56:50Speaker 3: MVP right now.
- 56:51Speaker 2: At this moment, I don't, oh no, but I.
- 56:54Speaker 3: Think he could be if if he goes four straight
- 56:57Speaker 3: wins and finishes the season like he played on Sunday,
- 57:00Speaker 3: And that's that's different. The level of play weak. But
- 57:03Speaker 3: right now it's a two.
- 57:04Speaker 1: Horse That's when you enter the chat.
- 57:06Speaker 3: Yeah, is a two horse race right now. Stafford and
- 57:10Speaker 3: Drake may like Josh Allen is a Stafford Like when
- 57:12Speaker 3: you look at the betting odds, it's like those two
- 57:14Speaker 3: guys and then like a huge gap to the to
- 57:18Speaker 3: Josh Allen at three. I don't know how much it
- 57:21Speaker 3: moved after Sunday, but I think really the only thing
- 57:24Speaker 3: that that is holding Drake back over Stafford is the touch.
- 57:27Speaker 2: I just said. You know, I think Sunday did tip
- 57:31Speaker 2: the skills a little bit because the only reason the
- 57:33Speaker 2: Bills won was Josh Allen.
- 57:35Speaker 3: Or Christian Benford, Joe Burrow.
- 57:40Speaker 2: You know, I think what he was he was the
- 57:44Speaker 2: X factor. Uh spiing Fresno. Some Evan comparisons, Uh more
- 57:51Speaker 2: of a Homer Fred or Evan. It's more of a
- 57:54Speaker 2: Homer right?
- 57:54Speaker 1: Oh me?
- 57:55Speaker 2: Wow?
- 57:56Speaker 4: Well, I think Evan's dedicated to the game more than
- 57:59Speaker 4: the tough one.
- 58:00Speaker 1: I forgive.
- 58:01Speaker 2: That's some more thoughts, Okay, more petulant and huffey Paul
- 58:04Speaker 2: or Evan.
- 58:05Speaker 3: Well, I don't know.
- 58:06Speaker 4: Usually sometimes.
- 58:10Speaker 3: I don't like. I don't like. I don't like where
- 58:13Speaker 3: this email is gone.
- 58:14Speaker 2: If it's X and it's Evan, if it's Patriots fans, Paul.
- 58:18Speaker 1: I get, but Evan gets petulant.
- 58:21Speaker 2: More of a Haardo Andy or Evan? Oh Andy Andy,
- 58:25Speaker 2: More condescending Eric or Evan Evan again depends on the
- 58:30Speaker 2: subject tonality issue, you do. But I don't think Evan
- 58:36Speaker 2: cares about how edinblow is pronounced. But when it comes
- 58:39Speaker 2: to X.
- 58:40Speaker 4: And he guards football and Drake like it's you know.
- 58:44Speaker 2: More of a ball. No where Evan Orlovsky.
- 58:48Speaker 3: Danielevsky played in the NFL, so I'm going to give
- 58:50Speaker 3: it to Dan.
- 58:51Speaker 1: So you're asking who actually knows more ball?
- 58:55Speaker 4: You know, you can't step out of the end zone.
- 58:57Speaker 2: Who would win one on one basketball, Evan or Barth.
- 59:00Speaker 3: Oh, that's not close. If you are I have, he's
- 59:04Speaker 3: gonna even play high school sports. I think you are
- 59:08Speaker 3: so meany, I think that that is. This is something
- 59:12Speaker 3: that is not even close.
- 59:13Speaker 4: And Evans around saying he could hit an NBA three
- 59:15Speaker 4: right like.
- 59:16Speaker 3: Easily, no doubt.
- 59:18Speaker 1: Have you ever attempted an NBA three?
- 59:20Speaker 4: No, it seems like it's two miles away.
- 59:23Speaker 3: It's not that far.
- 59:24Speaker 1: It's just outside of like the comfortable like Westlake range. Yeah, totally,
- 59:29Speaker 1: but yeah, you can make them.
- 59:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:30Speaker 3: So here's the thing that like, no, no, no, everybody
- 59:34Speaker 3: always everybody always changes this take around and they don't understand.
- 59:38Speaker 4: So we're in an NBA game.
- 59:41Speaker 3: I am telling you that I when I you watched
- 59:45Speaker 3: a lot of Celtics like me. If you have, like
- 59:48Speaker 3: Jalen Brown drives a lane for guys converge on him,
- 59:54Speaker 3: and I'm just standing out on the in the corner.
- 59:57Speaker 3: There's nobody within twenty feet of me. Would I make
- 59:59Speaker 3: every No, of course not. Could I make like one
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: in ten? Yeah, I feel like I could get one
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: to hit the back of the net, like.
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: If I feel like I could get one in ten
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: penalty shots against.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: I actually was in a three point shooting contest at
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: the Garden, yeh TD Garden, and I was asked to
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: go to the next stage, but I couldn't because that
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: day I was going to see UMass in the NCAA
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: semifinals in New Jersey.
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: Oh, was that like Marcus Camby or something?
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I was at that game in New Jersey.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I was sitting right in front of the Governor
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: of New Jersey.
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: Really was that like the Marcus Camby years? Like the nineties?
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: Absolutely?
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I was there. I was there.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Ryan and Quincy eleven and two. I can't believe it.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: I was born in two thousand and can't believe that
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: I've only had to witness five years of poor football.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: The one thing that deserves real acknowledgment is how much
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: credit the Craft should get. Every Patriots fan should thank
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Craft when they wake up, because plenty of owners would
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: have stuck with Mayo and his regime for another year.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: But Robert Craft recognize the mistake in getting Vrabel in
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: the building was the defining moment. We'll look back on
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: years from years from now. Let's go, let's clinch the division.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: In Week fifteen, my prediction is another hard fought game,
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: but more scoring. Patriots come out on top. Thirty one
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: twenty four. Drake throws for three hundred plus yards. Love it, period,
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: just love it all right. It's getting cold. Oh my god,
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: it's free.
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: I couldn't get warm.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: Yan it was fourteen. That was so cool this morning
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: when I was walking the dog. But no snow. But
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: it's coming.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: My dog wanted nothing to do with it.

- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Did you mess us?
- 1:03:55Speaker 6: Yeah? I did. We'll find out in a second.
- 1:04:00Speaker 9: Karen, Mike, you played Buffalo last week five lead and
- 1:04:08Speaker 9: how much has changed since then? Or is that film
- 1:04:11Speaker 9: for that game still viable for you?
- 1:04:14Speaker 6: Well?
- 1:04:14Speaker 14: And I think it's always viable. There's a lot that's changed,
- 1:04:21Speaker 14: but I think you can kind of see some of
- 1:04:22Speaker 14: the you know, play styles, matchups, you know, things that
- 1:04:27Speaker 14: they you know, they may come back to, or things
- 1:04:31Speaker 14: that we need to be more prepared for and then
- 1:04:35Speaker 14: you know kind of use that as a place to
- 1:04:38Speaker 14: kind of go from. And then you know, again some
- 1:04:41Speaker 14: of the things that they've done really well, I'm sure
- 1:04:43Speaker 14: they'll continue to do and add wrinkles, and.
- 1:04:46Speaker 6: You know, it's a great challenge.
- 1:04:48Speaker 8: Like you emphasize with T shirt this week for each
- 1:04:53Speaker 8: I don't use the hatt T shirt like we're just
- 1:04:55Speaker 8: trying to play for the championship that we have available
- 1:04:57Speaker 8: this week, and I think it's.
- 1:04:58Speaker 14: A great a testament to our players that put us
- 1:05:02Speaker 14: in this position to be able to do that. And again,
- 1:05:06Speaker 14: that's not going to be easy. This is a very
- 1:05:08Speaker 14: good football team. There's a reason that they've won this
- 1:05:11Speaker 14: division five years in a row. A lot of respect
- 1:05:14Speaker 14: for him. You know, they're never out of it, never down,
- 1:05:19Speaker 14: and they may be down and just like last week,
- 1:05:22Speaker 14: you know, it's a football team that understands that you know,
- 1:05:25Speaker 14: somebody is going to make a play and then they
- 1:05:29Speaker 14: you know the quarterback is going to give them a
- 1:05:31Speaker 14: chance to the very end.
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: You're six and oho is.
- 1:05:34Speaker 15: A head coach coming off the bat with you understanding
- 1:05:37Speaker 15: that it's different years, different teams, different votes.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: All that are there are any sort of commonalities when
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: it comes to player focus.
- 1:05:44Speaker 14: Well, I think that you know, and these guys have
- 1:05:48Speaker 14: played well, and you know that's the most important thing,
- 1:05:51Speaker 14: is focusing on what we can realistically try to improve
- 1:05:55Speaker 14: and it kind of enhance the stuff that we've been doing.
- 1:05:58Speaker 6: Okay with what we'll try to.
- 1:06:01Speaker 14: Do today and you know, I know these guys got
- 1:06:05Speaker 14: some some rest and much needed rest and you know,
- 1:06:08Speaker 14: but we've got to crank this thing back up.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: It's in the bicycle in the year, do you learn
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: just a little bit about yourself self scaled as the things.
- 1:06:16Speaker 9: That you look back on.
- 1:06:19Speaker 11: This more?
- 1:06:19Speaker 9: Uh?
- 1:06:20Speaker 14: I mean, I think you kind of know by the
- 1:06:22Speaker 14: way that the season is going, but you know, it's
- 1:06:25Speaker 14: always a good time to take a take a look
- 1:06:27Speaker 14: at you know, what you've done and what they're looking
- 1:06:30Speaker 14: at analytically and try to you know, figure some of
- 1:06:36Speaker 14: that out and and or just say, hey, we're we're
- 1:06:40Speaker 14: this is a staple of who we are and this
- 1:06:42Speaker 14: is what we're going to do and you know, try
- 1:06:45Speaker 14: to be good at it.
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: Like you mentioned, sard of Buye that you're expecting some
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: players back after this week.
- 1:06:51Speaker 9: Do you have me injury updates on the SPECI players.
- 1:06:58Speaker 14: Yeah, some of those guys made practice today. I think
- 1:07:00Speaker 14: for sure Wednesday, you know, some of those guys that
- 1:07:03Speaker 14: weren't available, and we'll kind of just see where they're
- 1:07:05Speaker 14: at today. But I think will be okay come Wednesday.
- 1:07:10Speaker 7: My teams line along rookies and ship what grade in
- 1:07:14Speaker 7: the three draft process that you brought.
- 1:07:16Speaker 10: Into solved group?
- 1:07:17Speaker 11: Mm hmmm.
- 1:07:19Speaker 14: I think we'll get into player evaluation and scouting and
- 1:07:24Speaker 14: principles and all that stuff later, you know.
- 1:07:28Speaker 6: I think you just you have to rely on.
- 1:07:32Speaker 14: Uh, you know, young guys at your draft. Hopefully you know,
- 1:07:35Speaker 14: you can develop them and have them ready. You know,
- 1:07:38Speaker 14: some of them have played a larger role than others,
- 1:07:40Speaker 14: and some of them were kind of coming on and
- 1:07:44Speaker 14: you know that they understand their role, that they have
- 1:07:47Speaker 14: confidence and continue to improve.
- 1:07:50Speaker 6: I think buying large group has done that well. We'll need,
- 1:07:54Speaker 6: you know, a lot of.
- 1:07:57Speaker 14: A lot more from them as we move on as
- 1:07:59Speaker 14: we can, especially this week, you know, and then we
- 1:08:04Speaker 14: can talk about, you know, how we target players and
- 1:08:08Speaker 14: things like that later, mirror experience as.
- 1:08:11Speaker 6: That player and the coach red zone offense.
- 1:08:15Speaker 13: What are some of the common threads you've seen over
- 1:08:17Speaker 13: the years, that make a successful red zone offense other
- 1:08:21Speaker 13: than obvious scoring touchdowns, like what.
- 1:08:24Speaker 6: Well, you have to have positive plays.
- 1:08:28Speaker 14: You can't go backwards, you can't have penalties that derail drives.
- 1:08:34Speaker 14: Precision is critical, you know precision is critical that you
- 1:08:39Speaker 14: know space is limited. Things happen so much quicker down there,
- 1:08:44Speaker 14: So well, we'll have to score and turn those opportunities
- 1:08:48Speaker 14: into touchdowns, and we'll have to do a better job
- 1:08:52Speaker 14: defensively when they do get down there.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: Mike, when Drake was first draft, there's a lot of
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: comparisons made to Josh Allen.
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: Now it's kind of played out of it.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: Do you see that being more similar or dissimilar in how.
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: They approach the game.
- 1:09:07Speaker 14: I think they're both really good at what they do.
- 1:09:11Speaker 14: You know, Josh probably got a couple of LB's on
- 1:09:13Speaker 14: them and can kind of throw his his shoulder, and
- 1:09:16Speaker 14: they're probably a little bit more that I would rather.
- 1:09:19Speaker 6: Want Drake to But I think they're both great competitors.
- 1:09:24Speaker 14: I think they're uh, you know, a lot of respect
- 1:09:29Speaker 14: for Josh and just his ability to make something out
- 1:09:33Speaker 14: of nothing. I've enjoyed watching Drake's growth here, but I'm
- 1:09:42Speaker 14: not going to say one's certain way and one the other.
- 1:09:45Speaker 14: I just huge challenge going against the quarterback that's under control,
- 1:09:52Speaker 14: he's got command, and just he doesn't look panicked or rattled.
- 1:09:56Speaker 14: And when you rush them or gets them into the
- 1:09:58Speaker 14: right play call and whatever, that be just a excellent
- 1:10:03Speaker 14: you know, obviously MVP quarterbacks like.
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: You guys are playing for a division championship this weekend.
- 1:10:08Speaker 8: I'm curious, though, you refer to your players, both.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: Of us and then with them after the game one day,
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: as champions or you know, you competed like champions champions
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: and are satisfied.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: Why why use that word when referring to your teeth.
- 1:10:22Speaker 6: I think you're probably just reading too much into it.
- 1:10:24Speaker 6: You guys got too much time since the last time
- 1:10:26Speaker 6: we talked. I don't know, I apologize.
- 1:10:28Speaker 14: I could call them something else, but then you guys
- 1:10:31Speaker 14: would yell at me for using that language.
- 1:10:35Speaker 10: Like there's a bit of a weird one.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: But coming out of the by doing something kind of
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: league wide on the trend of teams posting after a
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: win that.
- 1:10:44Speaker 6: Since you first became a lot of pressure.
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: Legit, like, has it changed your mindset at all?
- 1:10:50Speaker 8: Like going in there knowing that fans are going to
- 1:10:52Speaker 8: see everything you do and say.
- 1:10:53Speaker 6: Well, they don't.
- 1:10:54Speaker 14: I mean we I get the final say on it,
- 1:10:56Speaker 14: you know what I mean, Like Stretch can edit that
- 1:10:58Speaker 14: to make it look as good as you want.
- 1:11:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it's Here's what I do.
- 1:11:04Speaker 14: I think that our content team does a fantastic job
- 1:11:08Speaker 14: and the content teams across the league to bring our
- 1:11:12Speaker 14: fans really great access something that's inside the locker room
- 1:11:18Speaker 14: as quickly as they can get that turned around, and.
- 1:11:22Speaker 6: So I appreciate what they do. I think it's fantastic.
- 1:11:28Speaker 14: You know, I don't give it much thought until I
- 1:11:33Speaker 14: need to start thinking about it because I don't want to, you.
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: Know, look ridiculous. I'm glad that they've given me plenty
- 1:11:39Speaker 6: of opportunities.
- 1:11:42Speaker 14: To have some excitement in there that That's what I
- 1:11:45Speaker 14: appreciate the most is from the players giving us an opportunity,
- 1:11:48Speaker 14: and then the content team to continue to deliver really
- 1:11:54Speaker 14: authentic content to our fans.
- 1:11:57Speaker 7: You just do you watch any other coaches and they
- 1:12:00Speaker 7: do it?
- 1:12:01Speaker 14: Uh No, I mean I'm not taking my shirt off.
- 1:12:04Speaker 14: I can promise you that, No, I didn't.
- 1:12:08Speaker 6: I'm not. I'm not practiced in the office.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Coaches might not care if the fans have access to
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: that kind of stuff.
- 1:12:15Speaker 11: Why is it if.
- 1:12:15Speaker 8: Worn't to for the fans to have with the coach.
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: I mean, this is you know, we we're in entertainment business.
- 1:12:22Speaker 14: We we we that's it's a large part of what
- 1:12:26Speaker 14: we do.
- 1:12:29Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:12:29Speaker 14: I think that that's important that our fans have some
- 1:12:31Speaker 14: connection to our team to be able to come out
- 1:12:33Speaker 14: here to training camp starting you know, in July.
- 1:12:37Speaker 6: I think that's important. I think it's important that that
- 1:12:40Speaker 6: our fans can come into the stadium and watch a scrimmage.
- 1:12:43Speaker 6: I think it's important that again they have.
- 1:12:47Speaker 14: Things to cheer about on Sundays and when we play.
- 1:12:51Speaker 14: I think it's important that they see our players in
- 1:12:53Speaker 14: the community that not only as as players, but but
- 1:12:57Speaker 14: men trying to make a difference in trying to make
- 1:12:59Speaker 14: it impact and help. So the more that we can
- 1:13:02Speaker 14: do and the more that we can share with our fans,
- 1:13:04Speaker 14: the better.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: And now great moments in history.
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: I got my tonsils out and I had a back
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: then you stayed over night, but this was planned. I
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: mean back then, I sucked my thumb and I had
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: a blanket and I did. I stopped that last year,
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: but we know who pussy is now. So you're in
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: this crib at night, and of course if you need anything,
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: you had a button to, you know, get the nurse there.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: So I realized my blanket was in my suitcit.
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: Suck it with his So I remember, I remember.
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: Being this little kid, but you know, so I pressed
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: the button and the nurse comes over and she says, well,
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: you know, what do you need. I said, in that suitcase,
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: there's a blanket.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: I need it.
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: And this thing was like tattered because I had literally
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: had it since I'd been born, you know, like where
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: I rubbed it, it was all worn out and everything. So
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: the nurse goes in, she goes this thing, and I
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: remember to I said, just give it to me.
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: I don't need your com.
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: Just give it to me.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: It's funny because I remember that it was my blanket.
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: It was my aunt actually knit it for me when
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: I was born. I had a little rabbit in the middle.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: But by the time this incident happened, there was no
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: nothing was. It was just like just a rag. But
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: I would rub that thing and suck my thumb.
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: That's what mine was. Literally the same story.
- 1:14:29Speaker 6: It was.
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: My parents called it rotten raged. They're like, where's rotten rag?
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: That was what they call my.
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: Little My grandmother threw it in the trash once because
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: she said I was going to pull my teeth out,
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: you know, And I went in the trash and got
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: it out.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: It was a whole thing.
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: My sister is still the same thing.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: Oh yeah, my blanket. I wish I had it now.
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: Jeff and Canada writes in on podcasts at pages dot com.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: I know we're not worried about Sunday, but what if
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: it looks terrible and we lose handily? That would change
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: it for me little There is a strong argument to
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: be made the bills. Look us took us lightly back
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: in September. They won't do that again. Are we prepared
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: for the fallout if we lose by seventeen points and
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: it was never competitive?
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: Oh see, I'm yeah, but that could happen, right, But
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: I'm just saying, like, then, what like what what actually changes?
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: Like?
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: Do you do you like not think Drake may is
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: that good now?
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: But if that happens, If that happens, according to this person,
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: it proves the point that maybe they were taking us
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: lightly and we weren't really that good.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: So what it would tell me is that maybe they
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: are a little bit ahead of schedule, and maybe they're not,
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: Like you know, they're a team that's a that has
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: eleven wins. They're not an eleven win team. That could
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: be true. Maybe maybe they're just they're not quite ready
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: to be a super Bowl contender yet. But I don't
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: care what happens Sunday. I'm not going to change my
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: belief that this team is on the track of being
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: a super.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Bowl And your point is you should be just as
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: excited about this team because they are set up for
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: the future.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: And I would chalk it up personally as one bad game.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: When you've won ten in a row, you doe for
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: a bad game.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: It could happen, But I want the bad game to
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: come against like the Jets.
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: No, Fred, You're right, you do. I'm not dismissing the
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: guy's fears, because if they got manhandled by Buffalo, you
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: could easily make the argument that, well, this is what
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: happens when the other team doesn't turn it over three
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: times and they don't commit eleven penalties, you'll lose. You know,
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: that could happen. I'm not going to dismiss that, but
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: I just okay, so maybe Buffalo is better than you,
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: but what other teams in the AFC have suddenly gotten
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: better than you because Buffalo plays.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: I think fans dread the idea of having to defend
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: their team against your people. If that happens.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: That's and that part I agree with you on, because
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: they care more about that than what's actually important. There's
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: also defending the wall is by far the most important
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: thing for any self respect.
- 1:16:58Speaker 5: Eleven game win streaking you can just sit or ten
- 1:17:00Speaker 5: game was streaking you can sit there, and.
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: That cross right of Paul's keys here.
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: But I think there's always also an element two of
- 1:17:09Speaker 5: these of these games. Generally speaking, you get down who
- 1:17:12Speaker 5: needs it more? Who needs this game more?
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: You know? I think that's a.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: More desperate team.
- 1:17:15Speaker 5: Bills are a little bit more desperate, and that I
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: think gives them, you know, a little bit of I
- 1:17:19Speaker 5: don't say an edge in the game, but it just
- 1:17:20Speaker 5: it gives them some motivation.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: I want to pound them.
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: I don't know if the Bills are more desperate.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: I think they kind of give up the division. I
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: think they're just trying to hear what you win, well,
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: they have to win. Like the last four and they'll
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: be in the playoffs.
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: But yeah, beating Pittsburgh and Cincinnati like they're going to
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: make the playoffs.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: That alleviated some of the pressure there.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: So now it's do they really feel, you know, like
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: they're the I think the more pressure now, the difference
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: between I guess maybe a little bit of Week five
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: and what now, Like the pressure now is on the Patriots,
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: Like the Patriots are the ones that are trying to
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: close it. That's the hardest thing to do, close the deal.
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: It's like when you're up in a in a series
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: three to two and you got to close it out
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: in game six. That's the hardest game to win.
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, press a little little tight like.
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: The Bills right now, I think are kind of like
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: we'll get into the dance. We have Josh Allen com Boston,
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: see what happens.
- 1:18:12Speaker 5: Well that's and that's I was so impressed with how
- 1:18:14Speaker 5: this team came out on Monday Night football against the Giants,
- 1:18:17Speaker 5: just the energy they showed. And if they come out
- 1:18:19Speaker 5: with that kind of energy again and they look sharp
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: out of the gate, then I'm all in on your
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: Rabel gets the team ready to go after the bye
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: week stuff. That would really impress me. You know, just
- 1:18:27Speaker 5: any team coming off of bye you're a little bit weary.
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: Are they going to be a little little sloppy? Bills
- 1:18:31Speaker 5: are coming off of needing their best football down the stretch.
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: So I do feel like there are some trends, you know,
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: other than just the bye week stuff, like the Bills
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: on the road have not been the same team as
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: they have been at home this year and three yeah,
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: they're averaging ten game points a game less on the
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: road than they are at home. I would say the
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: other thing, you know that really supports the Patriots to
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: me in this game, this Bill's defense is not the
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: same Bills defense that it's been really since McDermott got there,
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: they've been a very good defense. Defense right now is
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: a twenty second in Dvoa. Their their middle of the
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: pack to even bottom half of the league defense. They
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: have injuries. You know, Ed Oliver is not going to
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: play in this game. I will see about Joey Bosa
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: to al Bernard probably not gonna play. So I think
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: their defense is about as weak as it's ever been,
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: and I think Allen's weapons are about as weak as
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: they've ever been.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: No question about definitely cook.
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: He cooks great, and Shakers good and Kincaid's good. But
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: they they don't have they don't have the weapons they
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: used to have.
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: The goal line fumbles.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: Yeah, this is his week.
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: The Bills have been in which is why the Patriots
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: are winning the division at the moment, Like this is
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: the week as weak as they've been since Allen has
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: become Jos Deeffert.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: Yeah, this is an opportunity.
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: To Mike's point, Ryan in Vegas subject line hypocritical Evan.
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: Evan just used the same argument to diminish the Broncos
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: win against the Raiders that he was freaking out last
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: week about people using against the Patriots Regarding weak opponents,
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: the ease of the Patriots' schedule is relevant and a
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: concern for when they go against some more talented teams.
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: We should be excited, but we are riding too high
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: and it feels similar to mac Jones's first year. And
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: Fred is right to be concerned about potentially being brought
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: back to reality this weekend. Either way, they've shown a
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: lot to be excited about the future. I'm not concerned
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: about it. I'm concerned that fans are concerned about it.
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: Also, when we were talking about the Broncos and the Raiders.
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: I was joking. I was being facetious for you, as
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: they say the other thing. What was the other thing
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: that he said in the email? I was going to say,
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: and on.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: The schedule has been a factor. So this is you
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: know he said, he said the thing about the twenty
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: one competitors.
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: Oh, that was it. I don't think this is anything
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: like twenty one because I think Drake is so much
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: better than mac Jones that I don't think that this
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: is really comparable to twenty one. There's a lot of
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: roots that are similar around the quarterback in terms of,
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: you know, you hit on a bunch of free agents,
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: you know, have a good draft, you know that sort
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: of thing. But you have one quarterback that was a
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: passenger in twenty twenty one, and you have another that's
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: the favorite to win the.
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: MVP driving the ship.
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: Yeah lord, Yeah, But I.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: Will say nothing is going to change necessarily. Well I
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: shouldn't say nothing. I don't think my view of this
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: team will change much Sunday if they lose. But I
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: reserved the right to change my mind after the following
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: three games, you know, like, you know, the first loss
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: in twenty one wasn't like the end of the world.
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: But when they follow it up with whatever they lost, like,
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: would they lose for to the last six? I think
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: they were they were nine and four.
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: And the finish Buffalo five.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: Yeah, because they were nine and four and they finished
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: ten and seven. Yeah, the last four, the last three
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: and four in the last I mean, I'm sorry, one
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: and three in the last four and then they lost
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: in the player and.
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: Their only one was against the Urban Meyer Jaguars interim
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: coach situation. Uh.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: Colin has an apology for Evan mayu Is King on Twitter.
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: Here Is that a big account? Mayus King?
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I know who.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: I want to personally thank Evan for speaking the truth
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: about bow Knicks and the Broncos last week. I'm sorry
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: for unleashing the Broncos fanhounds on him by posting the
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: clip on Twitter, but it needed to be heard for
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: an actual question. I want to ask if you guys
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: feel the same about the Texans. I don't think CJ.
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: Stroud is good, but they have an even scarier defense
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: and at least they have a road game experience. Paul
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: would disagree. You thinks c J. Stroud is good.
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: I think he's good, And I said he's not a lead.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: So that's exactly the opposite one here. What I would
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: say that, you know, I also think more of bow
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: Knicks than Evan does.
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: How you could take more of bo Nicks than me.
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: I love the guy, but you're gonna get clipped again.
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: Their offenses are not scary in both cases, the Texans
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: and the Broncos. The reason why their defense is, you know,
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: like that's how they play. They they play rock fights.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: So to Evan's point, I like Jerry Drake May's chances
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: in a rock fight because he doesn't have to do
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: something he's never done, is like light it up.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: Bonnix seems like he's got some stones.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: He does. Yeah, I think he went thirty two for
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: thirty eight the other day. But you know they didn't
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: score all that lot. He only scored seventeen points.
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: I said, that was the one time I was like,
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: I'm really spaceything. Yeah, it was one time. I'll give him.
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: They played great. They played well in that game.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: Paul in the colony rights in do you think this
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: is a bad spot for the Bills. We're coming off
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: the bye, they're playing for the eighth straight week, including
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: their third game out of four on the road.
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: No, I don't think it's the best spot for them.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: It's a better spot for the Patriots. Yeah, I would
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: say they're they're a lot healthier, and they arrested coming
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: off a bye, and like Evan said just two seconds ago,
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: like they've had big games, they've you know, they've had
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: to crank it up. So yeah, it's a fast for
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: the Patriots.
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: Their road home road thing is real, and that's one
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: of the few you know, we're talking about homefield of hand.
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: Just I do really think that that playing there is
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: a home field advantage in Buffalo because that fan base
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: is just absolutely insane, and I think that that I
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: for whatever reason, and they're scoring like thirty four game
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: at home, so I I, you know, I think that
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: that's a big part of it. The other thing I
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: wanted to say about the email about the Drake made
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: the Broncos thing, the Patriots being like relevant again in
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: the NFL ether has put this on my map more
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: than maybe before. The amount of bitching that goes on
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: on social media between fan bases and ours included like
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: I'm not we're not crid of this, okay.
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: And I imagine your timeline.
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: It is like you say this every Monday, friend, I
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: say this with all the love in my heart. Please
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: go touch grass, like, go do something else. Evan, tell
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: me the amount of just like back and forth. No,
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: my team's the best. No, my team's the best. No,
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: your quarterback stings. No, your like Jesus Christ. People, that's fair.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: You're hearing it right now. I made the mistake of
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: happened to think a little bit more than most of C. J. Stroud.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: There's been about five different guys that commented on it.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: But that's the beauty, because.
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: That's the beauty of football. You know, one game a week.
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: So during the week, the fans take over and it's
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: back and forth, back and forth, and then your team
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: either goes and proves you right or wrong.
- 1:25:22Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: But this is we're talking about, like the the amount
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: of volume of tweets that come through that are just
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: rage baiting the other another team or an And you know,
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: I said on on Sunday that the Bills survived against
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: the Bengals because they had needed a fourth quarter comeback
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: by double digits to survive. And I'm still getting attacked
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: by Bill's mafia and everybody here thinks that I am
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: a Bills fan. I'm the one that's like getting and
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: then the Broncos fans of the week before. It's like
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: calm down.
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: Of so many of these fan bases.
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: Well, they confused it with Barth because Barth thinks Josh
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: Allen stinks. I'm not.
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: And I'm also not trying to act like Patriots fans
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: are perfect because they're not nervous.
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: I think the windows closed. They think Josh Allen's great,
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: but the windows closed.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: So when this game, when the Patriots win the division
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: this week, I don't want to hear you crowing. Why
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: not because they didn't beat anybody of any value.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: No, you think that's how we gets you. We forced
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: them to stink.
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: We're not supposed to tell him that Mike.
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: Thought about Darius and Louisville. This is a PSA to
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: all callers. Please know what you're going to say before
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: you call. Like, come on, guys, Fred makes you wait
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: thirty forty five minutes at least, that's plenty of time
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: to get your words together and come up with a question. Anyway,
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: I think Josh Allen will try to put on a
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: Superman cape take over the game. Hopefully we have a
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: legit plan to stop him without Milton Williams.
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree with that.
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: I mean those, like I said, those plays where he
- 1:26:52Speaker 5: just takes it into his own hands and does He's
- 1:26:55Speaker 5: hard to get down.
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: He's a big dude. He's not afraid the lower shoulder
- 1:26:58Speaker 4: and barrel over. Yet that's such a big part of
- 1:27:01Speaker 4: the game.
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: I feel like figuring out how not to get burned
- 1:27:03Speaker 5: by him on third down where he just.
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: I'm cautiously optimistic that they will have a good plan
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: against him because when you watch their offense, it's very predictable.
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: They ran like the same five plays over and over again,
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: and I just when you have this much time to
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: prepare for an opponent, you have a really good coaching
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: staff with Vrabel and Josh McDaniels. I just have a
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: lot of faith in them saying we're not going to
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: get run on forty five times like Pittsburgh did. And
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: when it's third down, we know they're going to run Mesh,
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: So we're just gonna have something ready for that, and
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: we're gonna have a spy on Allen because him extending
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: to play on third down deuce is really what separates him.
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: You know that a Cleo Sekurit touchdown last week was
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: just ridiculous. So like those types of plays you can't
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: have happened. But you know, like they they run the
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: you know, they ran that tight end pop pass like
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: four or five times against the Bengals for chunk chunk,
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: chunk chunk, and it's like the guard is its clearly
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: not pulling up field and the Bengals linebackers are just
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: flying downhill like it's a run play. I just I
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: think there's a couple of ten in sies and things.
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: I really like the Patriots corners against the Bills receivers.
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: I think there's a chance that the Patriots cornerback trio
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: could actually really limit this bangalo, this Bills receiving group.
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: I mean, like I don't really know. I think you
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: can even get creative in some ways about how you
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: defend them, because like it's gonna be like Keon Coleman
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: or Shievers or Gabe Davis, Like you're gonna need to
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: put Gonzo on one of those guys, right, Like you know,
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: maybe you put Carlon Davis finally covers a tight end,
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: maybe like does he get kincaid in this game on
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: third down. You know, Shakira's the guy in the slot,
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: but like it just it feels like an offense that
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: is basically just like James Cook or Josh Allen doing
- 1:28:50Speaker 3: something unbelievable.
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you know, the tight ends. Like you said,
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: that's it.
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: Let's get to the phones. Eight five to five pats
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: five hundred. Mychael is in Vermont. What's up, Michael?
- 1:29:03Speaker 10: Well? Two questions. One, the coach were able to watch
- 1:29:06Speaker 10: the game Sunday to take notes?
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: He said, he watched a little bit, yeah.
- 1:29:12Speaker 10: And two will they go back and watch the game
- 1:29:16Speaker 10: from this past summer to take notes and see what
- 1:29:19Speaker 10: they need to work on?
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: I hope.
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: So you mean the week five game? Yes, yeah, yeah,
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: sure he.
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: Said that too. He said, you know, things do change
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: between now and then, but you know he'll look at
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: what they were doing and what kind of matchups they
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: were looking for, and you know, also acknowledging that things
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: are going to be different. You know, they'll put twists
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: on what they did.
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: Sure. Yeah, I think the biggest thing, you know, from
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: an offense standpoint, Patriots offense for some reason that no
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: one's really been able to explain, the Bills just started
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: blitzing like crazy in the second half and week five,
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: and Drake may just tore him apart. So I don't know,
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: if if I had a guess, I think they go
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: the total opposite direct and it's a lot of like
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: seven and eight man coverages and try to make him
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: sit there and read it out and that sort of thing.
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: They started heating him up in the game in Week
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: five and he just torched them.
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: I think that they will start that way and then
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: if the Patriots have success offensively, that's what they can
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: expect to see later in the game. That's the Bills
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: pattern is when we get desperate, we're just gonna come
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: after you. Yeah, And then they got to hope that
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: Drake isn't perfect like he was in that second half.
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: Right, Francisco, the Great Francisco is in North Carolina. What's up, Francisco?
- 1:30:31Speaker 16: Hey, what's going on?
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: Guys? Hey?
- 1:30:34Speaker 15: So, I mean it's been a little bit, you know
- 1:30:36Speaker 15: where just can't be pretty busy and everyone, you know,
- 1:30:40Speaker 15: everyone seems like they're email and calling in nervous. I'm
- 1:30:43Speaker 15: excited for this league. I mean, we're finally I think
- 1:30:46Speaker 15: this is it's not necessarily the first time we're gonna be.
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: Able to see it.
- 1:30:48Speaker 15: But this is this is like a meaningful, meaningful game.
- 1:30:52Speaker 16: This is gonna be their first opportunity to go and
- 1:30:54Speaker 16: place the division early, you know, and it's gonna be
- 1:30:57Speaker 16: the first like to show if they can do it
- 1:30:59Speaker 16: and or if they could just do it their first.
- 1:31:01Speaker 15: Time being able to sure and then you know, second off,
- 1:31:05Speaker 15: I want.
- 1:31:06Speaker 16: To just go ahead and say, you know, last.
- 1:31:07Speaker 15: Time we talked, I was talking about how, you know,
- 1:31:10Speaker 15: like me seeing the Chiefs you know, fall, and it's.
- 1:31:13Speaker 16: Not because I'm scared of them or nothing. I'm having
- 1:31:15Speaker 16: a great time in life right now.
- 1:31:16Speaker 15: Just seeing them lose, I.
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: Just sure I might not let Yeah, seeing who the
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: Bills lose the Chiefs. Oh yeah, I mean I'm really
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: enjoying because last couple of weeks we've been able to
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: watch some football Sundays and stuff they hate watching is
- 1:31:32Speaker 3: just that fun.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: Day they fell so far I didn't even watch because
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: they're just so boring.
- 1:31:37Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: By the way, a week from this Sunday we'll be
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: able to watch a little Sunday football too, because the
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: Patriots have been flexed into a primetime game from one o'clock.
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: So the Ravens game will now be Sunday Night Football.
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: Correct last year were being flexed out of uh primetime games.
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: I get a kick out of the Eagles losing to
- 1:31:56Speaker 5: you and their fan base.
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: It turns on them so hard, like it's getting up.
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: Nobody hates I heard that that locker room must be
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: you were talking about that the radio they have the rabbit,
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: the positivity rabbit.
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: That was not a that was real.
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: You know. It's like they were talking about like the
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: fan bases. Well, that's all fan bases know. The Eagles.
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: Fans hate their team.
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: Yeah, they make it a streets fans hate everybody else. Yeah,
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: they're there. It's almost comical now, a caricature.
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: It's so weird because they that Like that game last
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: night was weird, Like they ran the ball for once,
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: which they haven't really been able to do.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: I thought when Barkley broke that touchdown the game was.
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: They they they pressured Herbert like crazy. It was under pressure,
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: like over sixty percent. Yeah, and that's like their formula
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: and they still lost the game.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: Beginning of the game, it was kind of reading and
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: like kind of listening and every time it was like
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: how many turnovers did they have in the first half
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: both teams.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: There's three three each in the first half.
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: Yeah, the doubles.
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: There was there was three on one play a fumble
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: another was crazy.
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: There was five total fumbles in an indoor game. Like
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: it's not like there was rain or snow or they
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: fumbled the ball five times in a don't.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: And that Eagles guy he flirted with it that the return.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: Yeah Covey there, yeah, oh yeah, yeah he had he
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: had one flat fumble and then he bobbled one as
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: he was running. You got face masks on that play. Yeah,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: But more officiating at its highest level.
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: The hate watching is is a lot of fun. Yeah,
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: And I was watching Bill's Bengals and you're just chilling
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: him for the Bengals and like it. And then you're
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: watching you know, Raiders Broncos, and I just obviously that
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: was easy for me to hate watch that one. And
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: then yeah, the Raiders the Chiefs at night and it
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: was just like all of it is just love it,
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: great good stuff. Uh.
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: Nick is writing in I got to help him. We
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: all have to help out Nick. He's going to the
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: game on Sunday, He's driving up from Ohio. First of all,
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: need a place to take the wife for crab cakes
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: in Foxborough. Crabcakes is a Maryland thing. You know, you
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: watch if you want good fish, Okay, but don't go
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: looking for crab cakes. You're not going to find them
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: in Foxborough.
- 1:34:03Speaker 5: Now, probably get those illegal seafood though, if you want
- 1:34:06Speaker 5: to find illegal.
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: I don't even know if they serve crab cakes. Honestly,
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: I really don't think so. But if you're looking, particularly
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: in Foxborough for fish, I mean, Davio's is a steak place,
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: but they have good high you know, really good fish dishes,
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: skip jobs stuff No longer that's closed up. So if
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: you're looking for that, go to Davio's and Patriot Place,
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: you know. Yeah.
- 1:34:30Speaker 4: So there's a legal seafood in Tetum so.
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's not too far.
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: You go there.
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: Legal seafood is really good.
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: If you like clam chowder, they've got excellent clam chowder. Yeah. Second,
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: do you like that wildcut cat stuff we saw last game?
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: The trickery.
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: I love that we're known for being a team who
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: was great at fundamentals, but I would like to see
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: the trick plays open up as we need them to.
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: Prediction Harold Landry two sacks Patriots thirty two, twenty eight
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: not a practice.
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: Oh you want me to comment on the wildcat.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: I figured that would be an opportunity. Evan didn't care
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: for that.
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: I don't care for any of it. Why do you
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: think they just trying something different. They tried to unbalanced
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: line too worked once, didn't work the other time. They
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: flipped Vederian Lowe played tight end next to Morgan Moses,
- 1:35:18Speaker 3: and they put Austin Hooper at left tackle on balance line.
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: Move it over. They're trying to find something that they
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: can run the ball in short yardage. That that's obvious.
- 1:35:27Speaker 3: I just the reason why I don't personally like the
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: wildcat is because I think every single time the ball
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: is out of ten's hands, it's bad. Like anytime Drake
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: may is not involved in the play offensively, that is
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: a bad play to the offense.
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: That used to be the whole thing with Brady. Why
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: would you do that?
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: I get it like every once in a while, but
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: like what the pressure that he puts on the defense,
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: even if he's just standing there and handing the ball off,
- 1:35:50Speaker 3: is still more than directly snapping the football to the
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: running back.
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: So just Brendan and Edmonton Evan telling people to touch
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: grass is hilarious considered, he's no remotelawn in his life exactly.
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: That's how bad it's fine in the streets, the Twitter,
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: the social media streets. The Broncos fans versus the Patriots
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: fans versus the Bills fans is it's literally like the
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: scene and uh An Anchorman where they all like do
- 1:36:16Speaker 3: the you get the fight and Brick stabs the guy
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: with the trident. That is what is happening. But with
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: all these fans and we're all arriving and we're like
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: the news teams here and then we're fighting each other,
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: but we're fighting each other on keyboards like it just.
- 1:36:29Speaker 4: Like none of that exists for social media.
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: Like when you guys are covering this team in the nineties,
- 1:36:33Speaker 5: like how did you interact with other teams fans.
- 1:36:36Speaker 4: Although they had went to the game and.
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: Got yelled at them, they had forums, so through the media,
- 1:36:41Speaker 5: somebody said something to the press like, but you weren't
- 1:36:43Speaker 5: going at other fans directly unless you were physically at
- 1:36:46Speaker 5: a game.
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: And those three fan bases Bills, Patriots, Broncos. Right now,
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: you got to be careful out there, like you say
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: anything that's even remotely negative about the Bills or the
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: Broncos right now, typical Patriots fan everybody.
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: Else but days not even just negative about a team
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: if you say something positive about a different team.
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: Than the Patriots. Looked out below.
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: After Jordan calls himself the most boring Patriots fan in
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: the world.
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: I think it's gonna say, I've listened.
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: To the show for a few years and I'm the
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: biggest fan, although I think over this season, Mike has
- 1:37:22Speaker 2: assumed the role of the Debbie Downer snarky character in
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: place of Paul, who has been overly positive this season
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: and able to recognize the team is heading in a
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: positive direction. I don't know what happened to the happy, jolly,
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: Hollywood Mike we've all come to know and love. Maybe
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: he's spending too much time with Paul on the postgame
- 1:37:41Speaker 2: show and Paul snark has rubbed off on him. Either way,
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: this podcast is the only is only big enough for
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: one Debbie Downer. Uh, time for an old timey Western showdown,
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: Time for your punctuation. Jordan is absolutely terrible. Okay. I
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: don't know if you're doing that on purpose or but
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: it's horrible. The fact that I got through the email
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: the way I did is a credit to me.
- 1:38:06Speaker 3: Fred's a very good copy editor, so it's a credit.
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: To me as Fred. I would just like to say,
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: Mike is what Fred is talking about at the top
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: of the show. Mike is a Patriot fan that Fred
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: is talking about. You're always a little bit, very little worried. Yeah,
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: worry that it's not going to be this good. It's
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: not always going to be this good. That's kind of
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: why you didn't like the twelve and four pages, right,
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: because you were always waiting for it to end at
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: some point in the recesses of your mind.
- 1:38:35Speaker 5: It was different then I but hey, I I think
- 1:38:38Speaker 5: I opened the show was saying how excited I was
- 1:38:40Speaker 5: for this game and that it's amazing that they.
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: Have ant and you went into the show by saying
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: if they lose, you're going to jump off a cliff.
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: I just wanted to make sure your pants are still on.
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: I was looking to lose.
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: Josh Ana will be the MVP and the Patriots will
- 1:38:52Speaker 5: make the playoffs, and I'm gonna go cry into my
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: big pillow at home.
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: And I do get like my reputation being a Debbie Downer.
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: I understand why people say that and think that, but
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: I don't feel like I've been overly positive this year.
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: I'm telling you what is happening. Yeah, And the last
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: couple of years I've been taken as Debbie Downer, but
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: I was also telling you what was happening. So when
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: they're going out there and you're telling me about all
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: these one score losses the last three years, I'm not
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: here for that. Like I'm not trying to put lipstick
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: on it because it wasn't there. And this year they
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: have a bunch of one score wins and I'm not
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: telling you this is a fluke. When you're eleven and two,
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: I don't need the yeah butt like tell you everything,
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: just trying to tell you what I think is happening.
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: I think the interesting thing to me, Paul, having worked
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: with you for a little while now, is that is
- 1:39:45Speaker 5: that you you see the vibes are high with this team,
- 1:39:48Speaker 5: and that's not usually your thing, And you're more than
- 1:39:50Speaker 5: willing to acknowledge that there's something good in the locker
- 1:39:53Speaker 5: right now. And I'm not saying it's completely unique to
- 1:39:55Speaker 5: the Patriots. Other teams have good vibes too, But that's
- 1:39:58Speaker 5: just something that I think is is not always. You know,
- 1:40:01Speaker 5: we make fun of it. We talk about Santa Claus
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: and building a team, and I like making.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: Fun of it. If Mac Jones was still the quarterback
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: and they weren't doing anything offensively.
- 1:40:10Speaker 4: But everybody likes each other.
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: You know, if Jacoby Brissett was the quarterback and everybody
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: loved each other, I wouldn't be talented talking to you
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: about the vibes. But when you have a quarterback who's
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: leading the way, playing at an exceptionally high level, and
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: then you have great vibes, that's when you become dangerous.
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: I would say the opposite's going on right now in Baltimore.
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: You have an MVP caliber quarterback who's not healthy, and
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: the team appears to me to be kind of disinterested
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: when you watch them play, like those are bad vibes
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: and you can see it. That's how a really talented
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: team is six and seven.
- 1:40:46Speaker 2: Travis and West Virginia has a little James Cook fun fact.
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: A Bill Week fun fact from your funniest emailer. James
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: Cook's full name is James Dalvin Cook and his brother's
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: name is Dalvin James Cook.
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: I think I knew that and tj Okay.
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: I think James Cook's better than Dalvin Cooking and Dalvin
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: Cook and it was good. He's good for a while
- 1:41:06Speaker 3: for a while in Minnesota. But I think James Cook.
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: Is running poor.
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: Delvin Cook's career ended when he went to the Jets.
- 1:41:12Speaker 3: Yeah, James Cook's good player.
- 1:41:14Speaker 4: I remember being concerned about that, not afraid, but concerned.
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: And I'm like, you were definitely afraid of their run game.
- 1:41:20Speaker 3: That's how that that's going to be the Bills down
- 1:41:22Speaker 3: the stretch. There can be under center. They're to run
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: the play action, move the pocket, third down, Let Josh
- 1:41:28Speaker 3: Allen be Josh all Yeah.
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: Fourth down if necessary, that's it.
- 1:41:34Speaker 2: Jacking and Abba. More than once, Evan is opined that
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: only Boston has really good fish restaurants.
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: I didn't say that.
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: You didn't.
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: No, it doesn't seem like you.
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: Notwithstanding that Evan is a fish snob, I can see
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: that Boston has superb seafood. Nevertheless, there are good fish
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: restaurants in other parts of the country, including Michigan. Michigan
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: has fresh caught steelhead, trout and walleye, which are served
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: in local restaurants within one day of being caught.
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: Yeah, if you're landlocked.
- 1:42:04Speaker 4: No seafood.
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, trout is good if it's made right.
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: But that's a tricky fish to eat, you know. It's
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: it's really bony and everything.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: A Great Lakes fact Michigan.
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: That yeah, I know you don't connect to an ocean.
- 1:42:19Speaker 2: Yeah, technically they are land They're pretty big.
- 1:42:22Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: No.
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: I actually every year when we go down to Mobile, Alabama,
- 1:42:27Speaker 3: we go to the Senior Bowl. Great fish down there,
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: all the cold stuff, right, Yeah, I love the stuff
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: down there.
- 1:42:33Speaker 5: I'm weird because like I like fish and chips in
- 1:42:35Speaker 5: a restaurant, but I will not eat fish at home.
- 1:42:37Speaker 4: Like we'll like cook salmon at home, and I'm.
- 1:42:39Speaker 5: Like really like, I'll go to a restaurant and I'll
- 1:42:42Speaker 5: have some salmon.
- 1:42:43Speaker 2: I'll have that's your favorite? No fish, yeah, oh, I
- 1:42:47Speaker 2: guess fish fish. My favorite is sword fish.
- 1:42:52Speaker 4: Cooking yourself, like I don't I don't like cooking myself.
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: Go to this because I have the seafood market right
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: down the street. You get the big filet that are
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: like together, you cut them in half, butter big filets.
- 1:43:04Speaker 2: You put them on the grill. Frustace caught my meal
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: maybe once in my life.
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: I figured that you've done that all I'm shucking.
- 1:43:16Speaker 3: You never shocked shuckings hoot an oyster guy. It's fun.
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: I see that. That's more of my like oysters, shrimp, scallops,
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: that type of shell muscles.
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I love shellfish too.
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: Yeah, like you an impost or something myself shucking them off. Yeah,
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: you never shocked before.
- 1:43:34Speaker 2: They're shocked.
- 1:43:36Speaker 5: My mom and Dawn shucked during Thanksgiving and they're always like,
- 1:43:39Speaker 5: you're gonna have some oysters, right, and I'm like, no,
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: I'm good, and they seem so excited that there's more oysters.
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: Oyster shucking is you got to sneak up on them really, yeah,
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: so you know you.
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: Don't want to.
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: Charge, they'll tighten up, so you got to kind of
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: be a little bit. It's kind of like under and
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: then get that knife.
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: And this cigar category for you know guys, like I
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: watch guys golfing all the time and they all have
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: the cigars going like there just looks like such a
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: great that's a great vibe. And I don't do clam bake. No,
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: that to me is right there too, like that seems awesome.
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: I just don't really like seafood that seems like an
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: awesome time, like a clam bake.
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: So good.
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: I'm with you.
- 1:44:22Speaker 5: I love the smell of cigars, Like my dad would
- 1:44:24Speaker 5: always smoke a star when we go to high school
- 1:44:25Speaker 5: football agains when I was a kid. So the smell
- 1:44:27Speaker 5: of cigars smoked to me is like football.
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: But I can't smoke cigars like they just can't.
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: I don't know how I like them, but I haven't.
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: I've kind of dropped off smoking them. Yeah, I used
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: to have like a humidor and all that, and of
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: course you did, Yeah, but I I the taste afterwards
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: in your mouth.
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: It tastes like it smells to me, like I just
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: love like honestly.
- 1:44:51Speaker 5: Like one of my favorite things is when I'm making
- 1:44:53Speaker 5: the trudge from out and Spooky World in for a
- 1:44:56Speaker 5: game and there's tailgating going on, and I just get
- 1:44:58Speaker 5: a whiff of grill and cigar smoke and that, and
- 1:45:01Speaker 5: I'm like tailgate like.
- 1:45:03Speaker 3: I got an You guys, you want the Patriots clinching
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: scenarios this weekend? Oh yes, sure, okay, this is a
- 1:45:11Speaker 3: playoff spot yep or division win. That's the only way
- 1:45:16Speaker 3: they can clinch the division. Beat the Bills, you clinch
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: the division. They can clinch a playoff. Berth six different ways.
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: I don't care, six different ways different, so uh, they can. Actually,
- 1:45:28Speaker 3: it's probably the easiest way to clean clinch is to
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: win or tie. If they tie, and uh, the Chargers lose,
- 1:45:36Speaker 3: or the Texans lose, or the Colts lose, or the
- 1:45:39Speaker 3: Jaguars lose and the Patriots tie the Bills, they would
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: also clinch a playoff birth, not the division, but a birth.
- 1:45:46Speaker 4: Are all those games still going on in the one pan?
- 1:45:48Speaker 2: Are there any scenarios where they can lose and clinch?
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: He said tie.
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: I believe Houston loss or tie plus Indie loss or tie,
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: as long as both games don't end in a tie.
- 1:46:03Speaker 2: That's why I don't care. Popsicle Head, you asked the question, Well,
- 1:46:08Speaker 2: but I agree with Fred.
- 1:46:08Speaker 5: Now, are all those games in the one PM hours?
- 1:46:11Speaker 5: That's a good question we get in the postgame show
- 1:46:13Speaker 5: chance that we you know, I don't know the answer
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: to that question.
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: We were so negative loss. The post game show is
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: going to be a hat and T shirt show. Fred's
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: going to bring them back, comes down to joint.
- 1:46:24Speaker 2: That's a good idea.
- 1:46:24Speaker 4: If I can do it, I will rape, He'll do
- 1:46:27Speaker 4: it for us.
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: I'm not gonna see this is gonna be another one
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: of those examples he's asking for.
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: That's a great idea, I remember, you know, for when
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: you're winning seventeen of these in a nineteen year span,
- 1:46:40Speaker 3: buy the a f C East stuff like.
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: Fred and I have worked with for many, many years,
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: Carol Hardy, she buys everyone. Yeah, but now now it's
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: different every step of the way.
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: Now it's I didn't even buy the AFC Championship stuff,
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: so so here I thought it was a jan This
- 1:46:58Speaker 3: this goes back to.
- 1:46:59Speaker 2: One when they won the AFC Championship and you know,
- 1:47:04Speaker 2: it'd been a while and our pro shop was just
- 1:47:06Speaker 2: not ready, you know, like they just couldn't take the orders.
- 1:47:11Speaker 2: And I said, you know, I've got people calling and
- 1:47:14Speaker 2: they want this stuff, Like why can't we get it
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: to them? We don't have enough computers. I said, let's
- 1:47:20Speaker 2: rent computers. So literally we went and rented computers, put
- 1:47:24Speaker 2: the software on it, got part time people to sit
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: at the computers and take the orders.
- 1:47:29Speaker 5: Those are super Bowl swag, Like after they won, there
- 1:47:30Speaker 5: was an AFC Championship chap.
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: So my point is super Bowl wasn't even consider like
- 1:47:36Speaker 2: people were so just happy to get the AC championship.
- 1:47:40Speaker 2: Like that gear flew. They flew. Now you know, fast
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: forward to like seven, you know it wouldn't because oh,
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: we've got our site set on the super Bowl. I'm
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: saving my money until that stuff comes out. But back
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: in one, that AFC championship gear was hot.
- 1:47:57Speaker 3: Oh well, it was really cool as leather, like a
- 1:48:00Speaker 3: leather brim one, you know, one, and it was like
- 1:48:03Speaker 3: it was like white and red, a FC red, and
- 1:48:05Speaker 3: then the brim was like leather, and the like front
- 1:48:09Speaker 3: of the hat was leather too, like, so it was
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: like kind of like a like a two toned hat.
- 1:48:14Speaker 2: I don't remember that. That's incorrect. I remember the Super Bowl,
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: that's correct, you, Evan. I have the hat a FC championship.
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: Two thousand and one, a FC title game, Yeah, championship hat.
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: I don't have it, so I don't have it. I
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: don't think I remember the blue hat for the Super Bowl.
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: I had look that up.
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: I don't know if it's pleather.
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: I don't know the let was in the equation.
- 1:48:37Speaker 4: I thought it was your white pony.
- 1:48:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought it was the white hat.
- 1:48:42Speaker 3: Yeah. I just said white white bass hat read obviously
- 1:48:45Speaker 3: for the a FC title game. And then the brim
- 1:48:48Speaker 3: and the brim of the hat is different material might
- 1:48:50Speaker 3: have been right.
- 1:48:50Speaker 2: Maybe maybe the brim yeah, okay maybe yes, you two
- 1:48:54Speaker 2: kids could. Yeah, it's been a while.
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: It was like seven year old Evan over there, hundred
- 1:49:00Speaker 4: like I had a pick career.
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: I got a little Super Bowl thirty six pin on
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: my Super Bowl thirty six champions hat. And it was
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: a little thirty six pin that I got at the
- 1:49:11Speaker 3: game itself.
- 1:49:12Speaker 4: Some people, I never bought any of this championships.
- 1:49:14Speaker 5: So the onlies champion thing I ever went out and
- 1:49:16Speaker 5: got was a Bruins Stanley Cup Remember those Stanley Cup hats.
- 1:49:19Speaker 4: I had to get that.
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: A white hat, yes, yeah, yeah, that was it.
- 1:49:23Speaker 5: So that front was leathery, leathery, leathery that like leather
- 1:49:29Speaker 5: with Jason's Okay, leathery like that on TV.
- 1:49:32Speaker 2: Yeah, some of the hats that they came out with
- 1:49:34Speaker 2: really were terrible.
- 1:49:36Speaker 3: That hat was nice, but when I thought it was
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: nicer than the Super Bowl hat, honestly, I agree, I.
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: Think you may have gotten I agreed, huh, I think
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: we may have gotten those. I don't remember.
- 1:49:44Speaker 4: I'll bring them in, but.
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: We rented computers and put part time people in front
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: of them just to keep up with the orders.
- 1:49:50Speaker 5: I want Fred walk in, a bunch of hats on
- 1:49:54Speaker 5: his hand, doughnut in the other hand, plops down there.
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: Let's go, chance.
- 1:50:01Speaker 3: I wanted. This is the first time, maybe since so one,
- 1:50:04Speaker 3: that I actually care about. I kind of want it.
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: I want the hat. I want to win. I want
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: to shake it up.
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: The gogles. You go over on your side, side chest
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: bomb over here.
- 1:50:20Speaker 4: What's going on?
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 1:50:21Speaker 2: I'm sorry, he's getting himself all worked up.
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: I'm ready.
- 1:50:27Speaker 5: I'm ready, baby, I'm gonna be all hopped up on
- 1:50:29Speaker 5: diet Cokes and Mountain de Let's go back.
- 1:50:33Speaker 2: To the phones. Eight five five pets, five hundred Boston Cream.
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: What's up.
- 1:50:39Speaker 10: All the fans out there that don't believe in the Patriots?
- 1:50:42Speaker 15: Your record is yo, you are who your record.
- 1:50:45Speaker 6: Says you are.
- 1:50:45Speaker 7: Wow, I butchered that.
- 1:50:49Speaker 10: Uh. And then just one thing, Christian in l A.
- 1:50:52Speaker 15: If you got all the money that you say you do,
- 1:50:56Speaker 15: let's take out a billboard near Highmark Stadium.
- 1:50:59Speaker 7: After we get our hats and T shirts, and let's
- 1:51:01Speaker 7: rub it in their face.
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: I like it.
- 1:51:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I want to wait until afterwards,
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: but yeah, okay, thanks.
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: I mean after you actually win the division.
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: No, until we actually win the super Bowl.
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: But they do it just for winning the division.
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: I know, because they on super Bowls.
- 1:51:19Speaker 3: They don't know anything about winning again.
- 1:51:21Speaker 2: We might still have to play them in the playoffs,
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: so let's run. Yeah, let's wait until we beat them
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: in the playoffs.
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: But then you know, they see we'll think it from
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: the fear thing that he's telling everybody not to do,
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: like I don't want to do that. They might beat
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: it from the playoffs.
- 1:51:38Speaker 4: That wasn't for that billboard.
- 1:51:41Speaker 2: I don't want to give the bulletin board material literally, right, Uh,
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: Sean's and Vancouver, what's up, Sean?
- 1:51:49Speaker 17: I agree with Francisco about Kansas City, and I'm sticking
- 1:51:52Speaker 17: with my check. I feel even stronger than what I
- 1:51:54Speaker 17: said last month that the Chiefs could miss the playoffs,
- 1:51:58Speaker 17: and I think Houston Paul is going to win that division,
- 1:52:01Speaker 17: so we'll be good there. And in terms of the billboard,
- 1:52:04Speaker 17: I'd love it when the Patriots win their next Super
- 1:52:07Speaker 17: Bowl if we could put up a billboard near Hammark
- 1:52:09Speaker 17: Stadium or whatever. Then you want will be called the
- 1:52:12Speaker 17: super Bowl ring and it says this is what.
- 1:52:14Speaker 7: It looks like.
- 1:52:15Speaker 17: We got five more, and.
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: Yeah, something like that, we have six more. Okay. I
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: like the one that someone suggested last week. I think
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: is the billboard should say we'll take it from that.
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: I thought somebody else made that.
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: I thought that's good too.
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll take it from here.
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: Is this the.
- 1:52:31Speaker 3: Biggest Patriots home game since? If we're being nice, I
- 1:52:36Speaker 3: think that.
- 1:52:36Speaker 2: I think Brady Tampa Bay when he came back.
- 1:52:39Speaker 4: Okay, that's pretty good.
- 1:52:40Speaker 3: But that's a good one.
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: But for like superficial reasons, like.
- 1:52:43Speaker 3: Twenty twenty one, they hosted Buffalo in Week sixteen, and
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: they technically.
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: It's probably the biggest game since then.
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: We're in play to win the division. But yeah, the
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: Brady one, I didn't even think of that one, because
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: it's that's different question I thought about justin Herbert, do
- 1:52:58Speaker 3: you think that? I mean, I know he's really banged up.
- 1:53:00Speaker 5: Was under durest last night, but we talked a lot
- 1:53:02Speaker 5: about Drake having opportunity this year without maybe Lamar or
- 1:53:05Speaker 5: Joe Burrow, et cetera. Mahomes, do you think maybe this
- 1:53:08Speaker 5: is Herbert's time to shine or are they two banged up?
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: I just don't think that they look like a very
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: good team.
- 1:53:15Speaker 3: Their defense played really well, and their defense has played
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: pretty well, and.
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: I mean they have talent. I think that's a I
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: think that's a formidable team if they're relatively healthy. But
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: I'm sorry, you can't survive with one hand and getting
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: comedy sixty one sixty something sixty's right. That game was scary.
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: I mean, you they let's face it, I give them
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: all the credit in the world for finding a way
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: to win the game. The other team turned it over
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: five times, like let's not make any mistakes as to how.
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: You one of them went like multiple went like right
- 1:53:47Speaker 3: off guys hands and to the other team.
- 1:53:49Speaker 5: I would just feel the same way I feel right
- 1:53:51Speaker 5: now if I'm a Chargers fan of like, there might
- 1:53:53Speaker 5: be an opportunity here this year, and this is you know,
- 1:53:55Speaker 5: Herbert's kind of been waiting in the wings, just slightly
- 1:53:57Speaker 5: behind those guys. I mean, at early point in his
- 1:53:59Speaker 5: career was almost in flirting with that conversation.
- 1:54:02Speaker 4: But I mean, you guys are right, it's it's.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: Did you see him running last night? And then as
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: he would be getting tackled. He'd have the ball in
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: his in his right hand, him his right hand and
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: he would go down like this, like with his like
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: he was deathly afraid of having that hit. He had
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: surgery Monday.
- 1:54:21Speaker 3: The fumble that when he was stripsacked was because he
- 1:54:24Speaker 3: could only carry the ball in one hand, right, so
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: the guy came in and he couldn't put the other
- 1:54:28Speaker 3: hand on the ball, just his hand.
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: Yeah, that was totally intentional. Yeah, I mean, you know,
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: I know it's gamesmanship and all that, but I also worry,
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: literally they would be better if they protected themselves each other, Yeah,
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: protected each other, the players.
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: I do worry a little bit about Jim Harbaugh too,
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: very conservative, like and I understand that was the kind
- 1:54:48Speaker 3: of game it was last night, and maybe you know,
- 1:54:50Speaker 3: your defense was probably playing a little bit better than
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: your offense, but like, do you win in the playoffs
- 1:54:55Speaker 3: like that, like just.
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: Five for five on field goals? Yeah, like it just
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: and he was very fortunate to win the game.
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: And he's one of those guys like he just he
- 1:55:03Speaker 3: doesn't really have a very many aggressive bones in.
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: Herbert and Harbaugh a lot of credit for still being
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: in it, because I would have thought about a month ago.
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: You know, they went to Jacksonville and looked like they
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: didn't even belong in the field with the Jaguars. The Jaguars,
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: who I think are okay, I think they're good, but
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: I don't certainly put the Jaguars in this conversation with
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: teams that you're looking to avoid. You know, the Jaguars
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: are good, they didn't even belong in the field with
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: them that day, and that's because of all the personnel
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: they're missing. Let's call it like it is. I mean,
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: I give I give them credit for keeping it together,
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: and they're going to make the playoffs and they'll have
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: a shot. That's the game last night. I think that
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: eliminated the Chiefs. Yeah it was the Chargers.
- 1:55:45Speaker 4: Yeah, the division. That division is interesting to me. Just
- 1:55:47Speaker 4: how's it going to go down with those teams? AC Western?
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: You just have to collapse, I think for the Chiefs
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: to make a.
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: Alec in Berlin via the South Shore US Mareen, thank
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: you for the service anything, Matt. Ever, since I teased
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: Evan about misusing NFL stats to pick his games as
- 1:56:06Speaker 2: one possibility for your offul record, he's been a tick
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: better with his picks. Not fred level, of course, but
- 1:56:12Speaker 2: better a workshop.
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: On quantitative Thursday.
- 1:56:15Speaker 2: Uh oh, a workshop on quantitative methodology and methods would
- 1:56:19Speaker 2: still do him a world of good. Don't let yourself
- 1:56:21Speaker 2: proclaimed poor math skills hold you back. I look forward
- 1:56:25Speaker 2: to hearing either an Andy esque pissed off responsor and
- 1:56:28Speaker 2: Eric like Winge.
- 1:56:30Speaker 4: Why don't you help me? Why are you helping him?
- 1:56:32Speaker 2: Come dear Mike, stop second and third guessing yourself. Be
- 1:56:36Speaker 2: confident with your picks. You've chalked up your about the
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: picks as a third three legged chair. Turn that into
- 1:56:43Speaker 2: a three legged.
- 1:56:44Speaker 4: Stool of self confidence.
- 1:56:46Speaker 2: Yeah, Matt Morrell, thanks for the T shirt, the shirt
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: offer I've sent in my address here in Germany. Thanks
- 1:56:51Speaker 2: a lot, simplified.
- 1:56:53Speaker 3: I feel like I probably don't. I'd go too much
- 1:56:56Speaker 3: with my gut on the picks and not enough with
- 1:56:59Speaker 3: the numbers. If we're being honest, I have too many.
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: I'm becoming friend, I have too many, Like you know,
- 1:57:05Speaker 3: teams I hate, and so I just like hate. Picking
- 1:57:07Speaker 3: them comes complicated. Yeah, it's too I don't think it's
- 1:57:11Speaker 3: the numbers at all. Honestly, I don't think I put
- 1:57:14Speaker 3: that much the fun schemes, hatred hatreds up there.
- 1:57:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it flowing.
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: Uh okay, all right, you little John.
- 1:57:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it.
- 1:57:29Speaker 9: That's it.
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: We got three Okay, now I'm.
- 1:57:31Speaker 2: Gonna I'm gonna call it. I'm gonna call it. So
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: we're back tomorrow at noon catch twenty.
- 1:57:37Speaker 3: Two tomorrow ten two hours of college football.
- 1:57:41Speaker 2: I'm just I wouldn't be advertising that.
- 1:57:43Speaker 3: I'm just kidding, you kidding want people to listen. Alex
- 1:57:47Speaker 3: is on the opposite side of this argument, though, because
- 1:57:49Speaker 3: he wants the most deserving teams.
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I would agree with that.
- 1:57:53Speaker 3: Because you know, why play the season if we're just
- 1:57:56Speaker 3: gonna But.
- 1:57:57Speaker 2: His definition of deserving is probably different than you.
- 1:58:00Speaker 3: He's very happy that.
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: No, I don't think James Madison belongs in right.
- 1:58:03Speaker 6: He thinks.
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: He's saying James Madison belongs.
- 1:58:07Speaker 3: Yeah, they deserve.
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: Oh they that's foolish.
- 1:58:10Speaker 4: Summarily dismissed.
- 1:58:12Speaker 2: All right, thanks for listening. We'll see you tomorrow.
