Transcript
- 0:06Speaker 1: Welcome back and everybody to GM Territory. On today's show,
- 0:10Speaker 1: we're gonna go over some mock trades. The trade deadlines
- 0:13Speaker 1: almost here, Jim and I kind of wanted to pick
- 0:16Speaker 1: your brain and maybe you have a few mock trades
- 0:18Speaker 1: for us.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:19Speaker 3: I think it's always a fun time of year, right,
- 0:21Speaker 3: Fans love trade ideas, trade concepts.
- 0:25Speaker 2: You know, you have every contending team.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Except maybe the Dodgers that have needs, sometimes big needs,
- 0:32Speaker 3: and you got to figure out, okay, how can they
- 0:34Speaker 3: make trades to fill those needs? Now, granted, the trade
- 0:38Speaker 3: deadline isn't until August third, so there's a lot of time.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Remember the Draft is two weeks away, and then you
- 0:44Speaker 3: have the All Star Game. But then after that all
- 0:48Speaker 3: the attention is going.
- 0:49Speaker 2: To go to trade.
- 0:49Speaker 3: So let's come up with some ideas, and we would
- 0:51Speaker 3: tell the fans, Look, you're gonna like some, you're gonna
- 0:54Speaker 3: hate some. If you have your own, No, go ahead
- 0:57Speaker 3: and ex us here at GM Territory and give us
- 1:00Speaker 3: your feedback. But let's get started. I'll give you one
- 1:04Speaker 3: out of the get go. Okay, the Philadelphia Phillies badly
- 1:07Speaker 3: need a corner outfielder, right They've lost odoles Garcia for
- 1:11Speaker 3: the season with an injury. They released Nick Castillis in
- 1:14Speaker 3: spring trading. So now that the Angels have a new
- 1:17Speaker 3: head of baseball ops in John mozloc who replaced Perry
- 1:21Speaker 3: and Manassei in this past week, maybe they'll be more
- 1:25Speaker 3: open to trading their assets. So how about this as
- 1:27Speaker 3: a trade idea, Trey, how about Joe Adell.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Goes from the Angels to the Philadelphia Phillies.
- 1:33Speaker 3: In return, the Angels get minor league gufielder Dante Nori
- 1:37Speaker 3: and right handed pitchers Gabe Craig and Ramon Marquez.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Your thoughts, I really like this deal, you know, Joe
- 1:45Speaker 1: Adele I think needs a change of scenery. The big
- 1:48Speaker 1: thing with the Dell though, is that he's controllable through
- 1:51Speaker 1: twenty twenty seven, So you're not just getting him for
- 1:53Speaker 1: this year, but you're going to add that power back
- 1:56Speaker 1: to that lineup for a few more years to come.
- 1:58Speaker 1: And then, look, the Angels, I think get a lot
- 2:00Speaker 1: of good prospects from this. Dante Nori, he's the Phillies
- 2:04Speaker 1: number six prospect. He's only twenty one years old. You know,
- 2:07Speaker 1: he's currently in Double A and he has like a
- 2:09Speaker 1: contact speed profile. Right he had fifty two stolen bases
- 2:14Speaker 1: last season, a three sixty plus on base percentage in
- 2:17Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, modest power. I can see him making
- 2:20Speaker 1: the big league's twenty twenty seven to twenty twenty eight.
- 2:23Speaker 1: And then Ramon Marquez right handed pitching prospects. He's the
- 2:27Speaker 1: Phillies number nine prospect, and he right now is a
- 2:31Speaker 1: breakout arm for him. You know, he's only twenty years old.
- 2:33Speaker 1: He's in Single LA. He has a one eight six RA,
- 2:37Speaker 1: a forty percent strikeout percentage, a point eighty five whip,
- 2:41Speaker 1: and then he has five no hit innings in his
- 2:44Speaker 1: High A debut. You know, the change up is absolutely nasty.
- 2:49Speaker 1: And then when it comes to Gabe Craig, another prospect
- 2:52Speaker 1: and back end top thirty twenty three to thirty three range.
- 2:56Speaker 1: He's twenty four years old, a reliever, he was just
- 2:59Speaker 1: promoted High A. You know the slider in his slider
- 3:04Speaker 1: is also nasty. So look, I think the Angels and
- 3:07Speaker 1: the Phillies, it's a win win for both sides. And
- 3:10Speaker 1: if you look at a Dell here in the graphics,
- 3:13Speaker 1: look he can have seven about seven more home runs
- 3:16Speaker 1: at Citizens Bank Ballpark and that that ballpark. We all
- 3:20Speaker 1: know it's a hitters park. It truly is. So I
- 3:23Speaker 1: really like this deal. I love this mock trade.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of fun for both sides.
- 3:29Speaker 3: And look, the Angels have to make bad trade if
- 3:30Speaker 3: they can, and that's the kind of trade the Angels
- 3:32Speaker 3: have to make to rebuild. That is something they haven't
- 3:35Speaker 3: been doing in the previous administration. So if John Mozela
- 3:39Speaker 3: can make a deal like this, he has to. I
- 3:41Speaker 3: think the Phillies overpaying that trade, but I think they
- 3:44Speaker 3: have to because supply and demand says there's just not
- 3:47Speaker 3: a lot of.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Corner outfielders available.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Okay, let me get to the next trade idea. This
- 3:51Speaker 3: is another fascinating one. How about Jaron Duran going to
- 3:55Speaker 3: the from the Boston Red Sox to the Padres for
- 3:58Speaker 3: cash Mayfield. Look, Duran, Duran brings power, he brings speed.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Combination that the Red Sox, who have done a great
- 4:06Speaker 3: job of building pitching to add Mayfield would allow them
- 4:10Speaker 3: to then turn around and trade Sonny Gray for possibly
- 4:13Speaker 3: a bigger bat.
- 4:14Speaker 2: What is your thought on this trade?
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I love the trade. I think Daran Duran's he's
- 4:20Speaker 1: due for a change of scenery. As well, there's no
- 4:24Speaker 1: question about it. He's having a down year. You know,
- 4:26Speaker 1: he's hitting just below two hundred. He started out the
- 4:29Speaker 1: year pretty hot. And we all know Jaran Duran. We
- 4:32Speaker 1: know he's gonna be able to hit and run and
- 4:34Speaker 1: you know, get you those extra base hits. And look,
- 4:37Speaker 1: Cash Mayfield a left hand hitching prospect. He's the Padre's
- 4:42Speaker 1: number two to four prospect depending on where you look.
- 4:45Speaker 1: But looks he's only twenty one years old. He's in
- 4:48Speaker 1: High A right now. He's leading the level in eer
- 4:51Speaker 1: A and whip. He has a plus plus change up.
- 4:54Speaker 1: You know, he's a first round pick in the twenty
- 4:56Speaker 1: twenty four draft, and you know he can be a
- 4:58Speaker 1: number two, number three starter. So I think this is
- 5:01Speaker 1: something the Red Shock should trade for in a down year.
- 5:04Speaker 1: And Jaron Duran is definitely a hitter that I think
- 5:07Speaker 1: needs a change of scenery.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Okay, let's get to another trade idea.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Let the Dodgers get rich or you want to how
- 5:14Speaker 3: about the Los Angeles Dodgers acquire Trek Scooble from the
- 5:19Speaker 3: Detroit Tigers in exchange for pitchers Emittcan and River Ryan
- 5:24Speaker 3: and outfielders Zira Hope that's a huge package for a rental.
- 5:28Speaker 3: But for the Tigers, they would get two pitchers back
- 5:31Speaker 3: they control to improve their rotation. Zire Hope is a
- 5:35Speaker 3: future All Star outfielder. It's again, this is a This
- 5:38Speaker 3: would be a huge pay. I'm not sure the Dodgers
- 5:41Speaker 3: would even train this much to get Schooble. But if
- 5:44Speaker 3: the Dodgers really want to win their third World Championship,
- 5:47Speaker 3: why not go get yet another star and put Schooble
- 5:50Speaker 3: with shoe a Otani And yes, Saidoba Yamamoto, and then
- 5:54Speaker 3: wait for Tyler Glass that when Blake Snell to get back.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I mean, if that doesn't win a third World Championship,
- 5:59Speaker 3: I don't know what. And if you're the Tigers, you're
- 6:01Speaker 3: not going to get that strong a package from anyone.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Absolutely, you know, if you're the Tigers right now, I
- 6:09Speaker 1: think you have to make an offer like this. You know,
- 6:14Speaker 1: the Tigers are having a down year and the Dodgers
- 6:16Speaker 1: or the Dodgers and they have the prospects. I mean,
- 6:18Speaker 1: ze Er Hope is one that really sticks out to
- 6:20Speaker 1: me here. You know, he's the Dodgers number two prospects.
- 6:23Speaker 1: He's you know, only twenty one years old. Currently in
- 6:27Speaker 1: double A. He has a sixty grade power and look,
- 6:30Speaker 1: he had a really hot April as well. And this
- 6:33Speaker 1: guy can absolutely tear the cover off the ball. So Jim,
- 6:36Speaker 1: I really like this trade.
- 6:39Speaker 4: With over thirty five million downloads, seakeeek is the number
- 6:41Speaker 4: one rated ticketing app and krats. There are many many
- 6:46Speaker 4: baseball games on the inventory to check out all summer long.
- 6:50Speaker 4: This is the season now, it is baseball baseball season.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Not many other options for you sports wise. I know
- 6:55Speaker 4: you can go anywhere you want to go with seakeek.
- 6:57Speaker 4: There's so many tickets to choose from, but baseball stage. Now.
- 7:00Speaker 4: For the next couple months, school's out, I'm going to
- 7:04Speaker 4: watch some baseball games, some big league games, all in
- 7:06Speaker 4: my area, and I want to know exactly what it
- 7:09Speaker 4: looks like.
- 7:09Speaker 3: And I also want the best deal, So I'm looking
- 7:11Speaker 3: for the green, not the red.
- 7:13Speaker 2: That's right.
- 7:14Speaker 4: The green hooks you up with the best deals on
- 7:16Speaker 4: the app. Of course, we have the code It's Territory
- 7:19Speaker 4: ten for ten percent off your next set of tickets
- 7:21Speaker 4: at sea gek. That's ten percent off any MLB tickets
- 7:25Speaker 4: with the promo code Territory one zero. Make sure you
- 7:28Speaker 4: click the link in the description of this episode that'll
- 7:32Speaker 4: download the app if you don't have it already, and
- 7:34Speaker 4: you'll have the code automatically added to your account so
- 7:36Speaker 4: that you can use that code later. Thank you, see key.
- 7:39Speaker 3: All right, let's have the Red Sox wheel and deal
- 7:42Speaker 3: again again. This assumes and by the way, the Red
- 7:44Speaker 3: sas only five games out in the Wildcard, so that
- 7:47Speaker 3: doesn't mean they're necessarily going to sell. But if they
- 7:50Speaker 3: do sell, how about if they package starting pitcher Sunny
- 7:53Speaker 3: Gray and their closer a role this Chatman. What if
- 7:57Speaker 3: they package those two guys to the Chicago White Sox
- 8:02Speaker 3: for short stop Billy Carlson right here at pitcher Mason
- 8:05Speaker 3: Adams and outfielder Jaden Fawski. How about that for a
- 8:10Speaker 3: blockbuster deal. The White Sox would get great for the
- 8:13Speaker 3: rotation Chatman to be their closer.
- 8:16Speaker 2: That gives them a legit chance to win the division.
- 8:19Speaker 2: And for the Red Sox.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Wow, you're rebuilding your system very quickly with Carlson, Fowski
- 8:25Speaker 3: and Adams.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Your thoughts, Yeah, I you bring up a great point,
- 8:30Speaker 1: rebuilding the system quickly, right, They're getting a prospect at
- 8:33Speaker 1: each level, They're getting an infielder they're getting an outfielder
- 8:36Speaker 1: and they're going to get a right handed pitching norm.
- 8:38Speaker 1: So for the Red Sox, look, I think it's something
- 8:41Speaker 1: where you have value right now at Sonny Gray and
- 8:44Speaker 1: orald As Chapman, and you can get a lot of
- 8:46Speaker 1: great value in return at every level infield, outfield and pitching.
- 8:51Speaker 1: You know, Billy Carlson, he's only nineteen years old, but
- 8:53Speaker 1: he's elite. You know, he's got an MLB ready glove
- 8:57Speaker 1: and a plus arm, and I think the bat is
- 8:59Speaker 1: still developed. And then with Fawski, you get someone in
- 9:02Speaker 1: the outfield that he's only a nineteen year old kid, right,
- 9:05Speaker 1: So you're getting all these young guys back in return.
- 9:08Speaker 1: You know. The only downside Adams is he's rehabbing from
- 9:11Speaker 1: that Tommy John a year ago. But look, if you're
- 9:14Speaker 1: the Red Sox, you're making a deal like this, And
- 9:16Speaker 1: if you're the White Sox, how are you not going
- 9:18Speaker 1: to try to go and get a closer and an
- 9:21Speaker 1: elite arm in your rotation when you're making a run
- 9:24Speaker 1: at it? So yeah, I really like this mock trade.
- 9:27Speaker 3: All right, let's have the Yankees upgrade third base, how
- 9:30Speaker 3: about it? For this mock trade? What if they acquire
- 9:32Speaker 3: Matt Chatman from the Giants. Giants also pay down Chatman's
- 9:36Speaker 3: contract to make it work for the Yankees. In return,
- 9:39Speaker 3: they get Ryan McMahon, which lessens their financial exposure, and
- 9:44Speaker 3: they get pitching prospect Ben Hess, So they get a
- 9:46Speaker 3: pitching prospect that helps them. McMahon can fill in it
- 9:49Speaker 3: third base, but the Yankees upgrade third base with Chatman.
- 9:53Speaker 3: They take a little bit of a salary, but the
- 9:55Speaker 3: Giants pay it down. What are your thoughts on that
- 9:57Speaker 3: deal also gives the Yankees a right hand hit or
- 10:00Speaker 3: that I think they desperately.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Need, And that's where I was going there. The Yankees
- 10:04Speaker 1: need a right hand hitter in that lineup, and Matt Chapman,
- 10:07Speaker 1: who we all know is having a down year this season,
- 10:10Speaker 1: it might actually benefit for playing in a lot smaller
- 10:13Speaker 1: park than he is in San Francisco. Look, I think
- 10:17Speaker 1: both sides makes a lot of sense to me. Ryan McMillan,
- 10:20Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of his left handed hitter. How
- 10:23Speaker 1: can I not be He can be a really good
- 10:27Speaker 1: added locker room guy in San Francisco with the young
- 10:29Speaker 1: team and a young head coach. That's kind of why
- 10:32Speaker 1: I like Ryan McMillan going to San Francisco, and then
- 10:35Speaker 1: for Matt Chatman. You know, he he is a guy
- 10:38Speaker 1: that absolutely can tear the cover off the ball when
- 10:41Speaker 1: he's seeing the ball well, and he just has not
- 10:43Speaker 1: been whatsoever. If we look at this graphic here, you know,
- 10:47Speaker 1: we can see against right hand pitching, left hand pitching
- 10:50Speaker 1: this season. Look, he's hitting, he hits the ball well
- 10:53Speaker 1: against left handers, there's no doubt about it. But man,
- 10:57Speaker 1: the fastballs he's getting and just not delivered on this
- 11:01Speaker 1: year is kind of a disappointment. But look, I think
- 11:04Speaker 1: you change the scenery for this guy. We all know
- 11:06Speaker 1: what kind of elite player he can be, and you
- 11:09Speaker 1: put him at Yankee Stadium. I bet I'm willing to
- 11:11Speaker 1: bet he's gonna have a couple more bombs there.
- 11:14Speaker 3: All right, I've golt one more mock trade, and this
- 11:16Speaker 3: is my favorite one of all.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Are you ready to put your seatbelt on? Here you go.
- 11:20Speaker 3: The Minnesota Twins trade Joe Ryan to the Atlanta Braves
- 11:23Speaker 3: for left hand pitcher Ken Kim Kimmanetti and Jr. Richie
- 11:28Speaker 3: for the Twins building long term. You've got two elite
- 11:31Speaker 3: pitching prospects and Cammin Eddy and Richie Keim Eddy of
- 11:34Speaker 3: course a former number one pick, and Joe Ryan goes
- 11:37Speaker 3: to the Braves. That gives them the best chance of
- 11:40Speaker 3: getting back to the World Series. That's my favorite of
- 11:42Speaker 3: all these mock trades. I think it's really fair for
- 11:45Speaker 3: both sides. I think both sides should do it. Your
- 11:48Speaker 3: thoughts on this.
- 11:48Speaker 1: One, Oh, I love Joe Ryan, not just because of
- 11:51Speaker 1: the flow and the sick mustache, but he's pitching at
- 11:55Speaker 1: an elite level and I want him to have a
- 11:56Speaker 1: chance at a playoffs. Get him out of Minnesota, get
- 11:59Speaker 1: him to Atlanta, and then you're right. I mean the
- 12:01Speaker 1: Twins receiving Cam Kaminetti, the left hand pitching prospect. Look,
- 12:05Speaker 1: he is a guy that can absolutely wheel undeal and
- 12:08Speaker 1: then you're also getting another pitching prospect and returnment JR.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Ritchie.
- 12:12Speaker 1: We saw him make his MLB debut earlier this season.
- 12:15Speaker 1: But by the way, in TRIPAA he is a three
- 12:17Speaker 1: to one record, He has lower than a two VR.
- 12:20Speaker 1: He has thirty one ks in every thirty third, thirty
- 12:24Speaker 1: three innings pitch. You know he can be a solid
- 12:27Speaker 1: number three, number four arm in that rotation. I just
- 12:30Speaker 1: get so excited when it comes to Joe Ryan because
- 12:33Speaker 1: I really want to see this guy pitch on a
- 12:36Speaker 1: team that is playoff ready, going to the playoffs. I
- 12:39Speaker 1: think he's built for the moment.
- 12:41Speaker 3: I love that we're doing these mock trades. Trade season
- 12:44Speaker 3: is so much fun. We really want the input of
- 12:46Speaker 3: our viewers, So let us know, give us some trade
- 12:49Speaker 3: ideas of your own and we can discuss that next week.
- 12:52Speaker 2: In the meantime sit I want to lax everybody. We
- 12:55Speaker 2: going
