Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to the Guitar Jet podcast, where you'll skyrocket your
- 0:03Speaker 1: knowledge of theory, techniques and fundamentals for guitar. Hey, I'm
- 0:09Speaker 1: your tr instructor Miles, and today I'm going to tell
- 0:12Speaker 1: you how guitarists can use scale patterns in improvisation and
- 0:16Speaker 1: oars use scale patterns and improvisation to make it easier
- 0:19Speaker 1: to visualize the fretboard and play over chord changes. And
- 0:22Speaker 1: you need to understand the relationship between chords and scales
- 0:26Speaker 1: in order to use your scale patterns. For example, the
- 0:30Speaker 1: minor pentatonic scale patterns and natural minor scale patterns work
- 0:34Speaker 1: well over dinner chords and minor seventh chords. Major pentatonic
- 0:38Speaker 1: scale patterns and major scale patterns work over major chords
- 0:42Speaker 1: and major seventh chords. And that's just scratching the surface
- 0:46Speaker 1: of chord and scale relationships. And my best tip for
- 0:50Speaker 1: you is to know at least one five note scale
- 0:53Speaker 1: pattern and a seven novail pattern for every chord type
- 0:57Speaker 1: you come across. Examples of five note scale patterns include
- 1:00Speaker 1: minor pentatonic scale, mix, oldeon pentatonic scale.
- 1:04Speaker 2: And cou moi scale. Examples of seven scale patterns include
- 1:08Speaker 2: the major scale, natural minor scale, and harmonic minor scale.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And that's how you can use scale patterns in improvisation
- 1:16Speaker 2: as a guitar player. Thank you so much for listening
- 1:19Speaker 2: to the Guitar deb podcast. Subscribe to the show if
