- Lucas: Velkommen back to Learn Danish with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 46, can you believe it? Lucas: I know, right? Time flies when you're learning Danish. Luna: For sure. And I feel like I'm getting somewhere. Lucas: You are! Today we're going to add two very important verbs to your toolkit. Luna: Oh, I'm ready. What are they? Lucas: They are 'at spise' and 'at drikke'. 'At spise' means 'to eat', and 'at drikke' means 'to drink'. Luna: At spise. At drikke. Okay. Lucas: Good. Now, these are verbs, so we need to conjugate them. In Danish, the present tense is simple: you just add '-er' to the stem. So 'at spise' becomes 'jeg spiser' — I eat. Luna: Jeg spiser. Lucas: Exactly! And 'at drikke' becomes 'jeg drikker' — I drink. Luna: Jeg drikker. Lucas: Perfect. Let's practice with some nouns we know. Remember 'brød'? Luna: Yes, bread! From the breakfast episode. Lucas: Right. So you can say 'jeg spiser brød' — I eat bread. Luna: Jeg spiser brød. Lucas: Excellent. And 'vand'? Luna: Water! So 'jeg drikker vand'. Lucas: Yes! 'Jeg drikker vand'. You're a natural. Luna: Aww, thanks. Let me try a sentence. 'Jeg spiser brød og drikker vand.' Lucas: Wow, you combined them! 'Jeg spiser brød og drikker vand.' That is a great sentence. Luna: I love how easy that was. So it's just 'jeg' plus the verb with -er. Lucas: Exactly. For now, that's all you need. Let's imagine a little scene. You're at a café. You want to say you're eating a pastry and drinking coffee. Luna: Oh, I remember 'kaffe' from the café episode! Lucas: Yes! And a pastry is 'en wienerbrød'. Luna: Wienerbrød. Okay. So 'jeg spiser wienerbrød og drikker kaffe'. Lucas: Perfect! 'Jeg spiser wienerbrød og drikker kaffe.' You just ordered like a Dane. Luna: I'll take that compliment. Lucas: Let's go through the target phrases one more time. First, 'at spise'. Luna: At spise. Lucas: Good. 'Jeg spiser'. Luna: Jeg spiser. Lucas: Next, 'at drikke'. Luna: At drikke. Lucas: And 'jeg drikker'. Luna: Jeg drikker. Lucas: Now let's put them together with food and drink. 'Jeg spiser brød'. Luna: Jeg spiser brød. Lucas: And 'jeg drikker vand'. Luna: Jeg drikker vand. Lucas: Wonderful. You've got two new verbs in your pocket. Practice saying what you eat and drink throughout your day. Luna: I will! Thanks, Lucas. This was so helpful. Lucas: You're welcome, Luna. And thank you, listeners, for joining us on Fexingo. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time. Luna: Hej hej! Lucas: Hej hej!
