- 0:05Speaker 1: This segment is presented by Royal Retros. We'll talk more
- 0:08Speaker 1: about that in a moment. Josh Reddick joining us right
- 0:10Speaker 1: now in a sweet cold forty five UNI.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Actually, Josh, good to see you man. How you been.
- 0:15Speaker 3: I'm doing great, boys, How are we doing? Good to
- 0:17Speaker 3: be on? Good to see everybody.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Life is good, Life is good. Uh.
- 0:22Speaker 1: We'll talk about the jersey in a moment. Let's talk
- 0:23Speaker 1: about the current team. So are they back in the mix?
- 0:27Speaker 1: I mean partially means the Al it's not great, But
- 0:29Speaker 1: how are the astros? You watch most of the games?
- 0:31Speaker 1: What are you seeing?
- 0:32Speaker 4: Man?
- 0:33Speaker 3: Gosh, the AL stinks, doesn't it?
- 0:35Speaker 5: You mean you mean right now they're the Houston yord
- 0:38Speaker 5: On Alvarez is if they're without this guy. This this
- 0:41Speaker 5: man is on a cosmic level right now at the play,
- 0:47Speaker 5: just doing everything right.
- 0:48Speaker 3: It doesn't matter if Jacob.
- 0:49Speaker 5: De Gram's up there or Nolan Ryan's up there. I
- 0:52Speaker 5: don't think you throw him a strikern now. It's probably
- 0:54Speaker 5: gonna leave the yard.
- 0:55Speaker 3: But the thing that I talked about with it with
- 0:57Speaker 3: the boys this morning on our show was you gotta
- 1:00Speaker 3: I kind of look at the pitching.
- 1:00Speaker 5: The pitching is kind of stabilized a little bit at
- 1:03Speaker 5: least kept them in games.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Has it won them any ballgames?
- 1:05Speaker 5: No, but it's kept them in ball games here lately
- 1:08Speaker 5: to where they have a shot to where their lineup
- 1:10Speaker 5: can keep them in ballgames because despite all these injuries,
- 1:13Speaker 5: Christian Walker's having a great bounce back year, which I
- 1:16Speaker 5: felt like he was going to have last year.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Just got comfortable jord On being.
- 1:20Speaker 6: Who he is.
- 1:20Speaker 3: They need guys like cam Smith to turn it around
- 1:22Speaker 3: because he's the guy they're gonna have to lean on
- 1:24Speaker 3: for a long time.
- 1:25Speaker 5: A'll tuve being hurt est sac praise could play a
- 1:27Speaker 5: little bit better. Obviously, losing Korea hurt. But you know
- 1:30Speaker 5: they're putting this team on ord On Alvarez's back and
- 1:32Speaker 5: he's doing everything he can to keep them relevant.
- 1:35Speaker 3: And yeah, though, good.
- 1:36Speaker 5: Thing about that is everybody in the AOS is below
- 1:38Speaker 5: five hundred, so it's really anybody's game in that division,
- 1:42Speaker 5: in that league for that matter, because they're only I
- 1:44Speaker 5: think three and a half out on the wild cards.
- 1:45Speaker 3: So are they out of it? No? Is there a hope,
- 1:48Speaker 3: there's a little bit of sliver. Have they turned it around?
- 1:51Speaker 5: No, but there's a little bit of positive reinforcement. Thinking
- 1:54Speaker 5: for this fan base right now.
- 1:57Speaker 6: I mean, can the offense carry him?
- 1:58Speaker 7: Because this was a team forever you know Erland or
- 2:02Speaker 7: fromber Hunter Brown pitching, pitching back into the bullpen with
- 2:06Speaker 7: Hater and Abrau and for Brian Presley for years when
- 2:10Speaker 7: they were winning these world series. Can this offense continue
- 2:12Speaker 7: to carry them for long enough to get back some
- 2:15Speaker 7: of their pitching, because for me, it's a two man show,
- 2:18Speaker 7: like you said, and I just don't know that at
- 2:21Speaker 7: some point teams are gonna stop pitching the yord on
- 2:23Speaker 7: Alvarez and can the other guys figure it out? And
- 2:26Speaker 7: I yes, Cam Smith, Jeremy Painia, Where are these guys?
- 2:30Speaker 7: They need more for me?
- 2:32Speaker 3: Got to learn more.
- 2:33Speaker 5: He's got to understand, like this game is hard and
- 2:35Speaker 5: he's young, so we all know how that is the boys.
- 2:38Speaker 5: You gotta get young, you got to grind through it.
- 2:40Speaker 5: But they get these guys on reinforcement in the next month,
- 2:43Speaker 5: they can obviously take away run away.
- 2:46Speaker 3: But anytime you have Hunter Brown.
- 2:47Speaker 5: On the mound every fifth day, you're feeling pretty sexy
- 2:50Speaker 5: about yourself and winning that ball game. Getting guys like
- 2:53Speaker 5: Hayter back, getting Brian Abrady back to where he is
- 2:56Speaker 5: because they've got some established roles right now. Brian King's
- 2:58Speaker 5: been fantastic for him, say it to coming up making
- 3:01Speaker 5: his debut, that guy is absolutely electric.
- 3:03Speaker 3: He could solidify himself in a bullpen roll.
- 3:06Speaker 5: But right now, that lineup, even when they're doing good
- 3:08Speaker 5: as a whole lineup, it's mostly one through five and
- 3:11Speaker 5: then that six through nine is kind of a coin flip.
- 3:13Speaker 5: Hopefully we get some guys on to help turn that over,
- 3:15Speaker 5: so if they can figure out getting the more complete
- 3:18Speaker 5: lineup to score runs. And I've covered this team for
- 3:21Speaker 5: a couple of years now. Their biggest issue is runners
- 3:23Speaker 5: and scoring position. They get guys on, but it's like
- 3:26Speaker 5: they go blind at the plate when they get runners
- 3:28Speaker 5: in scoring position. Just doing better with guys on base,
- 3:32Speaker 5: driving in runs with two outs, and just not striking
- 3:34Speaker 5: out when you can hit that little easy sack fly,
- 3:37Speaker 5: sneak in that one little run the second that may
- 3:39Speaker 5: help you out when the end of the game rolls around.
- 3:41Speaker 5: Just doing the little things. And I think that's personally,
- 3:44Speaker 5: I think that's one thing all of baseball's missing is
- 3:46Speaker 5: little things. And this is a team that can really
- 3:48Speaker 5: benefit from that. Because at times they are very stagnant
- 3:51Speaker 5: with they're hitting, and then as we've seen in very
- 3:54Speaker 5: horrible on both sides of the baseball with pitching as well.
- 3:56Speaker 5: So just fighting a way to stabilize themselves. But they
- 3:59Speaker 5: just got to do something to switch up that long
- 4:01Speaker 5: ball strikeout stuff.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Isn't going to work for you every night.
- 4:04Speaker 6: All right, Well let's go to the pitching.
- 4:05Speaker 7: Then, in my math, if you have five starters and
- 4:09Speaker 7: only two of them give you a good, good chance
- 4:12Speaker 7: to win in who I think will be Spencer Raghetty,
- 4:15Speaker 7: And when Hunter Brown comes back, you're still losing three games, Like,
- 4:20Speaker 7: how where is this going to? Who is going to
- 4:23Speaker 7: step up? Is Peter Lambert? Can he take a little
- 4:25Speaker 7: bit extra step? I know he's doing well, but you're
- 4:28Speaker 7: talking about a guy to solidify, solidify that and flip
- 4:32Speaker 7: it to three good starting pitchers and then the lineup
- 4:35Speaker 7: battles out the other two starts.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it personally starts with guys like em
- 4:41Speaker 5: am I not being able to figure out what's going
- 4:43Speaker 5: on right now. Yes, the no hit outing was fantastic
- 4:47Speaker 5: to see for this fan base, but this is a
- 4:48Speaker 5: guy who's got to get it and get it fast
- 4:50Speaker 5: because we're paying you all this money.
- 4:52Speaker 3: You're the highest paid player on the team.
- 4:55Speaker 5: They need a guy like you to step You came
- 4:56Speaker 5: over here like, hey, I don't want.
- 4:58Speaker 3: To go to the Dodgers.
- 4:59Speaker 5: I want to beat the dog. And right now I'm
- 5:01Speaker 5: not even sure if this guy would even see the
- 5:02Speaker 5: Dodgers lineup so him. I like the way Burrows is pitching.
- 5:06Speaker 5: He could be a little bit more effective. I know
- 5:08Speaker 5: he ran into some bad luck early on in the month,
- 5:10Speaker 5: but you know, we're almost starting June. That ship is
- 5:12Speaker 5: sailed beyond the good luck bad luck stuff again. His
- 5:16Speaker 5: starting against his out against the Rangers.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Was promising, So it's there.
- 5:19Speaker 5: It's just where they pieces together, and from there on,
- 5:22Speaker 5: I don't know who is going to step up.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Guys like you.
- 5:24Speaker 5: Know, I like aj Blueball, but he just doesn't know
- 5:27Speaker 5: what his role is because there's so many moving parts
- 5:30Speaker 5: right now. He's so good at coming in and giving
- 5:32Speaker 5: three to four when you need him, and then you
- 5:34Speaker 5: throw him in the starter role and it's like it's
- 5:36Speaker 5: a complete different person out there. So I think it
- 5:38Speaker 5: starts with Emi. I think it continues on with guys
- 5:41Speaker 5: like Burris or Burrows and those guys just have to
- 5:44Speaker 5: figure it out, because, like you said, when you're piecing
- 5:46Speaker 5: together three bad starts, not only is it bad for
- 5:48Speaker 5: your starters, you're stretching guys in your bullpen every series,
- 5:52Speaker 5: and that amounts.
- 5:54Speaker 3: To a lot of wear and tear. It come September
- 5:56Speaker 3: in August.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I'm a last minute guy.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Sometimes you're a last minute guy where you all of
- 6:03Speaker 1: a sudden see a night open up and you want
- 6:05Speaker 1: to go grab some tickets, and you hadn't gotten them already,
- 6:08Speaker 1: so you're going to see geek and you're gonna go
- 6:10Speaker 1: look for a green dot and see where the good
- 6:13Speaker 1: seats are and the good value is and have a
- 6:15Speaker 1: little night with the fam.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Right without a doubt, And I'm looking for some of
- 6:19Speaker 4: the best seats. I'm looking for that green dot. When
- 6:21Speaker 4: I get that, it's a simple plug it in, use
- 6:23Speaker 4: your hands, go right on your screen, your phone, whatever
- 6:27Speaker 4: platform you can get it on. And it's so simple.
- 6:30Speaker 4: They make it so easy for you to do. Even
- 6:33Speaker 4: my son can do it if I ask them, Hey, Blakester,
- 6:36Speaker 4: let's go man, get on there for us, find us
- 6:38Speaker 4: a couple of seats so we can watch even that
- 6:40Speaker 4: Subway series that would be fantastic. Seat Geek has it.
- 6:43Speaker 6: All there for you. Yeah, and the code for you.
- 6:46Speaker 2: You should know it.
- 6:46Speaker 6: It's Territory ten.
- 6:47Speaker 1: It just gets you ten percent off your next set
- 6:49Speaker 1: of tickets AT's s Eke ten percent off any tickets
- 6:52Speaker 1: with promo code Territory one zero. Make sure you click
- 6:54Speaker 1: the link in the description, download the app. Then the
- 6:56Speaker 1: code is automatically added to your count sol you can
- 6:58Speaker 1: use it later.
- 7:00Speaker 7: Do you see it from Tatsuyom? You keep bringing up
- 7:02Speaker 7: that he's the guy that maybe needs to be the guy.
- 7:05Speaker 7: He either doesn't walk anybody and it's loud contact, or
- 7:09Speaker 7: he is walking everybody and then the loud contact comes.
- 7:13Speaker 7: So which what do you need to see from him?
- 7:16Speaker 7: And does he even have that in there to say, okay,
- 7:18Speaker 7: he could be a guy that could give us five
- 7:20Speaker 7: innings of three run baseball.
- 7:24Speaker 3: It's it's definitely in there.
- 7:25Speaker 5: And the one thing with him, it's not been like
- 7:27Speaker 5: stuff effectiveness. It's either the nasty backs or I don't
- 7:31Speaker 5: even want to I don't even know what he calls
- 7:32Speaker 5: his slider, the one that drops straight down and backwards.
- 7:34Speaker 3: It's nasty. But it seems like like you say, cratsy
- 7:37Speaker 3: it's either.
- 7:37Speaker 5: Center cut cookie cutter, give me that thing hited out
- 7:40Speaker 5: of the ballpark.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Or it's not even competitive.
- 7:42Speaker 5: So if he can learn to just fill up that
- 7:44Speaker 5: corner part of the strike zone and just move the
- 7:46Speaker 5: ball around, he's just got to stay out of that
- 7:48Speaker 5: middle or nowhere spot. So once he figures that out,
- 7:51Speaker 5: he's fine because the stuff's there, his effectiveness is there,
- 7:54Speaker 5: the pitches have movement, and from one thing we've learned
- 7:57Speaker 5: covering him is he's just got to get comfortable. He
- 7:59Speaker 5: had adjusted to the lifestyle of baseball over here, and yeah, great,
- 8:03Speaker 5: a huge culture change for somebody like that. But they've
- 8:06Speaker 5: given this kid every opportunity to make him feel comfortable.
- 8:09Speaker 5: So he's just got to take that next step forward
- 8:10Speaker 5: and say, Okay, here's my positive start against a pretty
- 8:14Speaker 5: good team and a pretty good lineup. I have to
- 8:15Speaker 5: find out what it did for me moving forward to
- 8:18Speaker 5: get to where I need to be. And I just
- 8:19Speaker 5: think it's throwing more competitive strikes, getting out of the
- 8:22Speaker 5: middle of the zone, and just kind of painting some
- 8:24Speaker 5: corners to let his stuff play. Because once you look
- 8:27Speaker 5: out of plane, that fastball comes out of the same
- 8:29Speaker 5: armsd as that cider does.
- 8:31Speaker 3: It's just a matter of where can I put it?
- 8:34Speaker 3: Where can this pitch go?
- 8:35Speaker 5: Because like you said, we can walk all day and
- 8:37Speaker 5: then just wait for that one to do all the damage.
- 8:39Speaker 3: So he just got to get rid of.
- 8:40Speaker 6: That guy, Josh.
- 8:42Speaker 7: You mentioned all the injuries. Tynter Brown supposed to be
- 8:45Speaker 7: coming back soon, Hater's coming back soon. But Altuve no
- 8:48Speaker 7: rehab games. They're talking about just sending him to Palm
- 8:51Speaker 7: Beach and lining up some inner squad at bats. I
- 8:56Speaker 7: guess what's your thoughts on this, because as much as
- 8:59Speaker 7: a couple of time I had to go on, actually
- 9:01Speaker 7: I only want to rehab twice, two days each time.
- 9:04Speaker 7: I mean, it sucks, but it also was kind of
- 9:06Speaker 7: fun to get down there and hang out with the
- 9:08Speaker 7: young kids again.
- 9:10Speaker 3: I agree.
- 9:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I've spent several stints down there for rehabs, and
- 9:13Speaker 5: I was a firm believer. Take your rehab stint like
- 9:16Speaker 5: and it's early. It's not like you're pushing for a
- 9:18Speaker 5: September playoff spot. We need you to come back early.
- 9:20Speaker 5: This is an oblique injury. This is something you use
- 9:23Speaker 5: every part of your body on that field, swinging, hitting,
- 9:26Speaker 5: go into the bathroom as a pain and that you
- 9:28Speaker 5: know what, just when you pull in other bleak so
- 9:30Speaker 5: at first the thing that pops out is a miraculous
- 9:33Speaker 5: healing factory.
- 9:33Speaker 3: And they said this is a grade two.
- 9:35Speaker 5: I've had both of them grade twos and it was
- 9:37Speaker 5: four to six minimum, So I see no need to
- 9:40Speaker 5: rush go down there, get your at bats if you
- 9:43Speaker 5: need three, grade if he needs six, get as many
- 9:45Speaker 5: as you need.
- 9:46Speaker 3: But yeah, it's not about just going out and.
- 9:48Speaker 5: Getting your timing, taking care of the kids down there,
- 9:50Speaker 5: going there, buying the spread, hanging out, having them come
- 9:52Speaker 5: out to you and ask their questions, give them advice,
- 9:55Speaker 5: just going back and saying, hey, this feels good to
- 9:58Speaker 5: be back with these younger guys. Could you You never
- 10:00Speaker 5: know who's going to be the next big thing, so
- 10:02Speaker 5: to speak. So I'm all for rehab games. Take as
- 10:05Speaker 5: long as you want, especially since we're about to roll
- 10:08Speaker 5: over the calendar month into June. There is absolutely no
- 10:11Speaker 5: need to rush back. Your team is still relatively in
- 10:13Speaker 5: the hunt. Take as much time as you can because
- 10:16Speaker 5: we know injuries in this team in the last two
- 10:19Speaker 5: years has been a huge question mark for recovery time.
- 10:22Speaker 3: There's no need for you to.
- 10:23Speaker 5: Even question this get one hundred percent, take a little
- 10:26Speaker 5: extra if you need to, and come back ready to
- 10:28Speaker 5: go to the end of this season.
- 10:30Speaker 7: Right when guys dominate in big league series, big league seasons, whatever,
- 10:34Speaker 7: it's like, Oh well, Jordan alvarezz he's rehabbing against the
- 10:37Speaker 7: Rangers right now. He makes it look like they're a
- 10:39Speaker 7: minor league team. And to me, I think he's a
- 10:43Speaker 7: top five hitter in the game. We discussed it earlier.
- 10:45Speaker 7: Can he win an MVP being ultimately just a DH.
- 10:52Speaker 5: I think it's absolutely possible. I mean, we've seen pitchers
- 10:54Speaker 5: win it. Why not a designated hit hit or hitter
- 10:57Speaker 5: hit your hitter. So yeah, if he continues at this
- 11:00Speaker 5: pace he's on right now, I think it's a pretty
- 11:02Speaker 5: unanimous vote. I don't think anything anybody comes close to me.
- 11:06Speaker 5: You can put defensive war in there against guys like
- 11:09Speaker 5: you know, the judges, the Bobby wid juniors, all these
- 11:12Speaker 5: guys coming up, but this guy is on a historic pace.
- 11:14Speaker 5: The thing about jord On is, yeah, you can look
- 11:16Speaker 5: at all his slugging numbers, of his power noise, but
- 11:18Speaker 5: people tend to forget how much of a pure hitter
- 11:21Speaker 5: Jordon Alvarez truly is and you don't see it unless
- 11:23Speaker 5: you watch him on a daily basis. This guy will
- 11:27Speaker 5: take your way, pitches the other way for that single,
- 11:29Speaker 5: for the two RBI one run single, if he needs to.
- 11:32Speaker 3: It, he'll be completely fine with it.
- 11:33Speaker 5: He's not gonna chase, he's not gonna get overly big
- 11:36Speaker 5: in his swing. So he controls the zone very well.
- 11:39Speaker 5: He takes his walks, he takes his NOx the other way. Yeah,
- 11:42Speaker 5: he's gonna hit the one hundred and twenty mile hour
- 11:43Speaker 5: homers for you all the time. But when he's locked
- 11:46Speaker 5: in like this, no, there's no way I'm throwing him
- 11:48Speaker 5: a strike. I mean, we looked at him at a
- 11:49Speaker 5: three zero slider on the outer third to dead center
- 11:52Speaker 5: and a line yesterday. It makes you wonder, why aren't
- 11:55Speaker 5: these guys just putting up the four fingers and sending
- 11:57Speaker 5: you right on down to the baseline. At this point,
- 11:58Speaker 5: he's got to get the Barry Bond Street and you
- 12:00Speaker 5: have to respect that. When he's such a great power hitter,
- 12:04Speaker 5: but he's also a very good contact and pure hitters.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Well, I think that's what gets overlooked about your.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Don aj give me a line on blue chew.
- 12:13Speaker 7: Well, do you need help with your love life. Scott, Perhaps,

- 13:14Speaker 7: we can we show that graphic again? Can you see
- 13:16Speaker 7: the graphic.
- 13:17Speaker 6: On the screen, the one we just hey, bring it back.
- 13:21Speaker 6: It was the yord On one. Can we can?
- 13:22Speaker 4: We?
- 13:23Speaker 7: I was hoping we could show that again, hold on, yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 7: we can get it up there. Yeah, no, I know
- 13:29Speaker 7: I want to. I want to show you how good
- 13:31Speaker 7: yord On Alvarez is. H what's he hitting? Average?
- 13:33Speaker 2: Wise?
- 13:34Speaker 3: Three twelve?
- 13:35Speaker 6: What's his babbit one?
- 13:39Speaker 7: Damn, he's really good. He's hitting higher with an average
- 13:42Speaker 7: and balls he's putting him play. That's how you know
- 13:43Speaker 7: you're a damn good Josh right there.
- 13:47Speaker 3: When you're hitting better than the balls you put in play.
- 13:49Speaker 7: That that's that's you're getting hits on the strikeouts, and
- 13:52Speaker 7: you're getting hits on strikeouts and walks.
- 13:54Speaker 6: That's how good you are.
- 13:55Speaker 3: That's a hall of famer in my book.
- 13:57Speaker 7: Boys, right, thank you, thank you for that.
- 14:02Speaker 3: That's beautiful.
- 14:03Speaker 6: Oh man. I was like, wait a second. People say
- 14:05Speaker 6: I don't pay attention.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Wait wait yeah, but do you guys know I mean
- 14:10Speaker 1: there's some people, including me, who has to do a
- 14:13Speaker 1: double take for a minute.
- 14:14Speaker 2: You know why that's the case.
- 14:16Speaker 6: I didn't think that was possible.
- 14:20Speaker 2: There's a ball that's not put in play that is
- 14:22Speaker 2: still a hit.
- 14:24Speaker 1: It's called a homer, the one that hit the base runner.
- 14:29Speaker 6: Homers don't count on babbit.
- 14:32Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Hold on did in.
- 14:35Speaker 6: Play for a second?
- 14:36Speaker 2: Batting average on balls in play?
- 14:40Speaker 6: It takes away strike.
- 14:42Speaker 7: Okay, I had a I had an unofficial worst stat
- 14:45Speaker 7: in baseball.
- 14:45Speaker 6: That one just took over.
- 14:46Speaker 7: If that's the case, that that officially wins is the
- 14:48Speaker 7: worst stat in baseball.
- 14:49Speaker 6: If that's the case, and it's the bibot, what what did?
- 14:51Speaker 6: What did she call it?
- 14:53Speaker 3: The bit?
- 14:55Speaker 6: By the way.
- 14:56Speaker 1: A player who hits a lot of homers can have
- 14:58Speaker 1: a higher average than it's a bit.
- 15:02Speaker 2: It's relevant that the real thing, it's a real thing.
- 15:06Speaker 6: But that's not just that's that analytics. I get. That's
- 15:11Speaker 6: that to me just went up because when you hit
- 15:12Speaker 6: a home run.
- 15:13Speaker 7: Your average, I mean it doesn't when.
- 15:18Speaker 5: I look on that jumbo tron at every stadium and
- 15:20Speaker 5: it shows all my stats and I hit a homer,
- 15:22Speaker 5: one plus gets added to that age column every time.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Yeah, But batting average on balls and plays is a
- 15:29Speaker 1: different stat. Like you're not trying to drive up.
- 15:33Speaker 6: It's talking about.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's trying to help them, you know.
- 15:38Speaker 6: Yeah, it's.
- 15:42Speaker 7: That just officially took over as the dumbest stat I've
- 15:44Speaker 7: ever heard of. All right, all right, well, look we'll
- 15:48Speaker 7: get back on pace here. The second best hitter on
- 15:51Speaker 7: the Astros is a guy that was, in my opinion,
- 15:56Speaker 7: this close to getting traded at the beginning of the season. Obviously, everybody,
- 16:01Speaker 7: it's a great problem to have having extra you have paradus.
- 16:05Speaker 7: How are they gonna find that bats? It's the same
- 16:07Speaker 7: spring training narrative, like we don't know now all of
- 16:09Speaker 7: a sudden, it's like crap, we got to find somebody
- 16:11Speaker 7: else to fill in different spots. But Christian Walker's trade
- 16:16Speaker 7: value is it there in the sense that if the
- 16:20Speaker 7: Astros do not come back, if all the things we
- 16:23Speaker 7: talked about, it's not you know, it's just not happening.
- 16:25Speaker 7: It doesn't come together for the Astros this year. It's
- 16:28Speaker 7: his trade value for the Astros as high as it's
- 16:32Speaker 7: ever been. And do you think they'll get what they
- 16:34Speaker 7: want or do you think they would be able to
- 16:36Speaker 7: run it back with him again next year as a
- 16:38Speaker 7: corner piece, probably all star first baseman.
- 16:42Speaker 6: Oh.
- 16:42Speaker 5: I think his trade value right now is the highest
- 16:44Speaker 5: they'll ever get out of him, unless he continues to
- 16:46Speaker 5: do this for the rest of the Year or something
- 16:49Speaker 5: like that.
- 16:49Speaker 3: But I I they tried.
- 16:51Speaker 5: They tried earlyer this offseason, they tried through spring training,
- 16:54Speaker 5: and nobody wanted this guy and know it right now,
- 16:56Speaker 5: he's short of like, hey, I'm not a forgotten person
- 16:59Speaker 5: in baseball, and he showed that. We've seen what this
- 17:01Speaker 5: Christian Walker can do playing for the Diamondbacks for so long,
- 17:05Speaker 5: and it's great to see this guy cod. But I
- 17:06Speaker 5: think if you're looking at the overall picture and if
- 17:09Speaker 5: they were out of it by ten plus games right now,
- 17:12Speaker 5: they'd probably already having phone.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Conversations with teams about this guy.
- 17:15Speaker 5: But since I think they're so close, I think, knowing
- 17:18Speaker 5: Jim Crane the way he functions, he's not going to
- 17:20Speaker 5: let anything run out until they're completely out of it
- 17:23Speaker 5: because he wants to win.
- 17:25Speaker 3: They're still still technically in.
- 17:26Speaker 5: That hunt, and who knows, once you get your studs back,
- 17:29Speaker 5: this team could take off and run away with this division.
- 17:32Speaker 5: Because I promise you the guys that are up there
- 17:34Speaker 5: right now aren't going to run away with it. Nobody
- 17:37Speaker 5: in this division is going to run away with it.
- 17:38Speaker 5: So we might be looking at teams making moves that
- 17:42Speaker 5: we weren't really anticipating at this time, and luckily for
- 17:45Speaker 5: them they didn't get rid of him because of what's
- 17:47Speaker 5: happening with Korea and getting you know, Jeremy Painia just
- 17:49Speaker 5: now getting back. So it's good to see him have
- 17:53Speaker 5: a bounce back year. But I think his trade value
- 17:55Speaker 5: is through the ceiling right now, and whether he's out
- 17:58Speaker 5: of it out the door or not is yet to
- 17:59Speaker 5: be told. I think the next month will play a
- 18:02Speaker 5: lot in that role. But I mean, who knows. Who
- 18:05Speaker 5: knows the way things are going, in the way this
- 18:07Speaker 5: division in this league is running around, We're looking at
- 18:10Speaker 5: a coin flip situation every day.
- 18:12Speaker 2: That's the thing. It's not even just the division.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Even if the Mariner's just going to tear and win,
- 18:17Speaker 1: you know, eighteen to twenty and start to take over
- 18:19Speaker 1: the division, you can still make a wildcard spot. I mean,
- 18:22Speaker 1: there are not teams running with that anytime soon. I
- 18:25Speaker 1: don't think you're going to see that. There'll be at
- 18:26Speaker 1: least one spot where you're going to look late in
- 18:28Speaker 1: the year and be like, does anyone want this.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Finishing stat here? To end our conversation?
- 18:36Speaker 1: The formula for babbit just because we got into it,
- 18:38Speaker 1: so I'll actually get you guys. The formula ready hits
- 18:42Speaker 1: minus home runs divided by at bats minus strikeouts minus
- 18:48Speaker 1: home runs plus sacrifices.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Comes up with these algorithms of stats.
- 18:54Speaker 5: That was I thought I got out of school in
- 18:56Speaker 5: math class.
- 18:59Speaker 2: That's it.
- 19:00Speaker 6: Here's my thing.
- 19:02Speaker 7: Shouldn't babbit ball batting average on balls in play? So
- 19:06Speaker 7: every time you hit a ball and it goes in
- 19:08Speaker 7: fair territory, including a home run, because that is in
- 19:11Speaker 7: fair territory, shouldn't that count towards your bat again?
- 19:16Speaker 5: Learned today, I agree in because even even a lot
- 19:21Speaker 5: of homers can be caught rounds.
- 19:24Speaker 7: It's it's definitely just a luck stat. That's the only don't.
- 19:27Speaker 7: Don't put it up on a pedestal like whoa his
- 19:30Speaker 7: batpeb was so high he should be the m v P.
- 19:33Speaker 7: It's a luckstack. It's a luckstack because people who don't
- 19:36Speaker 7: know the game can't watch.
- 19:37Speaker 6: But if you had homers to it, it ain't yeah runs
- 19:41Speaker 6: say lucky love homers.
- 19:44Speaker 1: But but you're but again, you're not trying to be
- 19:46Speaker 1: like the best babbit p in baseball. That the stat
- 19:49Speaker 1: was created to measure what happens after the defense has
- 19:52Speaker 1: a chance to turn a battit ball into an out.
- 19:56Speaker 7: Okay, homers, they can rob homers. Though, if you hit
- 20:00Speaker 7: a home run and the guy jumps over the fence
- 20:01Speaker 7: and catches it, that hurts your babbitt.
- 20:03Speaker 6: Even though would have been all.
- 20:07Speaker 7: And also let me asking this question. This is also
- 20:09Speaker 7: another question. Listen, I wanted a high babbit because that
- 20:12Speaker 7: means I was getting a lot of hits.
- 20:14Speaker 6: I was.
- 20:14Speaker 7: I mean, I don't care, you know whatever, but true. Anyways, Anyways,
- 20:20Speaker 7: the people are going to say we hate analytics, which
- 20:22Speaker 7: is not true. But that's just fascinating the way they
- 20:25Speaker 7: can manipulate the.
- 20:27Speaker 6: Way they want to make them.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Can I say it, You could say I hate analytics.
- 20:33Speaker 7: Brandon marsha is getting hated on. Brandon marsh is almost
- 20:36Speaker 7: leading the league and hitting, and he's getting hated on
- 20:38Speaker 7: because he has the highest the BIP in like baseball
- 20:42Speaker 7: history right now, and I'm like, he's leading the league.
- 20:45Speaker 7: He could get a trophy for leading the league and hitting.
- 20:48Speaker 7: And hitting in the big leagues is so hard to do.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Anymore, super easy. It's so easy from behind a keyboard.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Too easy.
- 20:57Speaker 7: It's I have a keyboard right here, and it's not easy.
- 21:02Speaker 7: It wasn't easy when I had a bat in my
- 21:03Speaker 7: hand either, Sure was.
- 21:05Speaker 2: It only thing easy in this combo?
- 21:08Speaker 1: Is like I promised at the top, can you just
- 21:10Speaker 1: maybe go right above the fold there so we can
- 21:12Speaker 1: see the cold forty five shirt on the way out
- 21:14Speaker 1: here for the newest sponsor on the show.
- 21:18Speaker 2: There it is. That's nice. That's Royal Retros.
- 21:21Speaker 1: So before the Killer Bees, before the Astrodome, there were
- 21:26Speaker 1: the forty five.
- 21:27Speaker 2: So kids, look it up.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Josh is wont to rock in one of the retro
