- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been nearly twelve months since I've seen you
- 0:03Speaker 1: guys last and.
- 0:07Speaker 2: The Great Northern you guys did your gig down there?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah we haven't.
- 0:13Speaker 3: We haven't actually been up.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I was just thinking this, we haven't actually done a show.
- 0:16Speaker 3: The last I think showing Queensland was Good Things was
- 0:20Speaker 3: maybe August. Oh that was Billy Corgan.
- 0:25Speaker 2: No remember Monty featured with the Delta Rigs.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Not yes on the bill I understand it was, Yeah, true,
- 0:33Speaker 3: we did have Yeah, so technically it was our last.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Our last outing was December as the band in Queensland
- 0:40Speaker 3: In a minute.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Yeah, because you guys had a pretty busy year last
- 0:43Speaker 2: year too, didn't you? Like?
- 0:45Speaker 3: Yeah we did? We did? We we? Like I I
- 0:49Speaker 3: was mentioned earlier, we all also do a lot of
- 0:51Speaker 3: separate things like yeah, so it's as we come back
- 0:57Speaker 3: to Riggs World, it is kind of like it's like
- 0:59Speaker 3: and then then we did the Billy Corgan thing in
- 1:01Speaker 3: December and we did the Kings With tour in August. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:05Speaker 3: we we. I mean, we're we're much quieter than we
- 1:07Speaker 3: used to be. I guess if that's possible. We used
- 1:10Speaker 3: to play so much. It's just a matter of like
- 1:14Speaker 3: we're kind of rebuilding back into everyone done their thing
- 1:18Speaker 3: and we're pushing.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Yeah, because all he had some favorite you know with
- 1:24Speaker 1: Angus with they did quite a lot, didna.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Yeah, well that was for like four months of the
- 1:29Speaker 3: year this year. Yeah, it's better. You know, it's been
- 1:32Speaker 3: a bit hard in that front to do anything in Riggsland,
- 1:36Speaker 3: but he's all done there, and Alex has been working
- 1:39Speaker 3: with Nick from Jet a lot too.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Yeah, because he put his studio just down here now too.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Yeah, he's in they're in Milan right now and from
- 1:50Speaker 3: Milan to.
- 1:50Speaker 2: The show Oh no wow.
- 1:55Speaker 3: But yeah, so we're all kind of doing awesome stuff
- 1:57Speaker 3: outside of Riggs. But it's also like there's also finished
- 2:00Speaker 3: me know, it's this clear and got a new song.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I've I've seen now about to kick off. Yeah,
- 2:08Speaker 1: I've seen all the snippets of that on your on
- 2:09Speaker 1: your socials. So tell us about the new song. That's
- 2:12Speaker 1: pretty excited because it's been while since you guys are
- 2:14Speaker 1: dropped in new track, hasn't it.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Yeah, we did that the Real Electric Record in twenty
- 2:19Speaker 3: twenty three, I think or something. So yeah, and we're
- 2:22Speaker 3: just kind of working out where we're going to go next.
- 2:24Speaker 3: But we've got this, Yeah, we've we've got a couple
- 2:27Speaker 3: in the can. It's pretty fun to go.
- 2:31Speaker 2: You know.
- 2:31Speaker 3: It's a two and a half minute banger that that
- 2:34Speaker 3: we're going to put out first, I think probably hopefully
- 2:37Speaker 3: this side of the year. Like we just again, everyone's
- 2:40Speaker 3: schedule has been so hectic. You know, Alex needs to
- 2:42Speaker 3: finish the mix, we need to get clips done. Yeah,
- 2:47Speaker 3: so yeah, that's hopefully we'll get kicked off for this
- 2:50Speaker 3: year's it's you know, there's two songs, ones called Gee Whiz,
- 2:53Speaker 3: ones called nine Lives Nine Lives that features Patty from
- 2:58Speaker 3: Sticky Fingers Slash. Oh so yeah and yeah, so we're
- 3:03Speaker 3: gonna we're going to pretty much kick off twenty twenty
- 3:06Speaker 3: seven six sorry, with with some some new rig stuff. Yeah.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Well that's exciting and hopefully it makes intraction and social
- 3:15Speaker 1: media thing pretty damp. Hat you're you're all over that,
- 3:17Speaker 1: which I think guys been in the game long enough
- 3:20Speaker 1: to see that transition of how it used to be
- 3:22Speaker 1: and what.
- 3:22Speaker 2: It takes down to make it work.
- 3:24Speaker 1: And yeah, yeah, and it's talking about artists and it's
- 3:28Speaker 1: it's really quite prominent that if it's that's a consistency party.
- 3:32Speaker 2: If you lock in and know what you're going to
- 3:34Speaker 2: do and you get that's get the change.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Yeah, Elliott. Elliott actually is the better of all of us.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Oh, he's hilarious. Isn't entertainer for sure?
- 3:44Speaker 3: He drives the socials more than any of us.
- 3:48Speaker 2: He loves the attention, That's.
- 3:50Speaker 3: What it is. But probably that's where it comes from.
- 3:56Speaker 2: He's not here to defend himself.
- 3:57Speaker 3: We've better be.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I we've been watching these ladys go UK pop up later.
- 4:04Speaker 1: No, so, but I guess that's part of you know,
- 4:06Speaker 1: you guys been in the rigs how longs?
- 4:07Speaker 2: How many he's been now twenty and then speaking in
- 4:11Speaker 2: a long time.
- 4:12Speaker 3: We reallyas our first EP in twenty ten, so it's
- 4:15Speaker 3: pretty ten. Yeah, I'd say that's when we kind of
- 4:18Speaker 3: I mean the kind of the early form of the
- 4:21Speaker 3: band started in like two and seven or something. But
- 4:24Speaker 3: it's been yeah, twenty ten, so it's been fifteen years
- 4:27Speaker 3: nearly we've done. The first record came out in twenty thirteen,
- 4:31Speaker 3: but we had like three EP's prior to that.
- 4:33Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, so then.
- 4:36Speaker 3: You know, we've been doing it a long time. We
- 4:38Speaker 3: know what I guess, you know, we know how to
- 4:41Speaker 3: push each other's partners as well.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It's just good that you can go to come together
- 4:47Speaker 1: and you know, know when to separate and go to
- 4:49Speaker 1: your corners, so to speak. Because you've been pretty much
- 4:53Speaker 1: consistently haven't had a lot of changes, have you.
- 4:55Speaker 2: You've pretty much been.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Like the first few years was there was there was
- 4:59Speaker 3: quite a lot of chan change ups. Yeah, like just
- 5:03Speaker 3: people dropping out and when it started to get a
- 5:05Speaker 3: bit more serious, people just kind of you know, there
- 5:07Speaker 3: was a bit few. But yeah, the last major change
- 5:11Speaker 3: I guess was Jesse came into the band in twenty fourteen. Yeah,
- 5:15Speaker 3: so you know like babe now Yeah, yeah, I remember
- 5:19Speaker 3: his first show was on the It was this huge
- 5:22Speaker 3: show for Channel V when it was Channel VAN. And
- 5:28Speaker 3: then then Simo our Drama left in like twenty nineteen
- 5:32Speaker 3: maybe yeah, from memory, like he left the twenty nineteenth
- 5:36Speaker 3: and then we haven't really replaced him as such as
- 5:38Speaker 3: a member.
- 5:39Speaker 2: So yeah, so I think you've had a few, like
- 5:42Speaker 2: just filling drummers.
- 5:43Speaker 3: We had money and there we've got a young guy
- 5:46Speaker 3: from Melbourn who's awesome.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah is that Oscar?
- 5:48Speaker 3: Yeah? Oscar?
- 5:49Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, I was sitting with you guys like that.
- 5:51Speaker 2: He was great. He's and he's so young, yeah, which
- 5:54Speaker 2: is great.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Well, I mean like as you get older, you cost
- 5:56Speaker 3: more money, so the young, the young guys you can
- 5:59Speaker 3: get him for cheat and they do just as good
- 6:01Speaker 3: as your job.
- 6:02Speaker 2: It's just funny.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Yes, having a laugh with with Alex McConnell, who was
- 6:07Speaker 1: the bass playing with Mother because you know, running joke
- 6:09Speaker 1: with well being with Mother's and he just remembers the
- 6:14Speaker 1: last he's like, I got paid like, you know, a
- 6:17Speaker 1: couple of hundred dollars for whatever massive show it was,
- 6:19Speaker 1: and you know, even Dina from the Doggies and just
- 6:21Speaker 1: like laughing like he's got fifty bucks, so done.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Out and it's just like back when you're young, you know,
- 6:25Speaker 2: any death better.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's funny. But yeah, that much, I know, right,
- 6:33Speaker 1: you can find find me away. You could even get
- 6:34Speaker 1: out a pubkig for that much these days. But I
- 6:37Speaker 1: guess that's the nostalgic part, is to be able to
- 6:40Speaker 1: look back and you know, have a laugh and see
- 6:42Speaker 1: where you've come and you know you're at and I
- 6:44Speaker 1: mean a lot of us are doing it for the
- 6:46Speaker 1: money really these days. Anyway, it's it's the love and definitely,
- 6:50Speaker 1: you know, and that's I guess that's the kind of
- 6:52Speaker 1: the key part, and that's the good part. I mean,
- 6:54Speaker 1: if you can make it living out a bit, great,
- 6:55Speaker 1: but you know, if you can consistently keep doing it
- 6:57Speaker 1: for the right.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Reasons, yeah, you know, like the last fifteen years or whatever,
- 7:03Speaker 3: it's like I've done things that I never would have
- 7:05Speaker 3: dreamed of doing.
- 7:06Speaker 2: So yeah, you.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Know, and that's that's worth more than any currency to me.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I agree, Yeah, absolutely, stuff.
- 7:15Speaker 3: That's that's that we've been able to do or have
- 7:18Speaker 3: been given the opportunity to do just by playing or
- 7:21Speaker 3: by people, you know, like whatever it is, Yeah, Billy
- 7:25Speaker 3: cooling thing or cheering with the food fighters or yeah,
- 7:27Speaker 3: that's pretty cool, all of those kind of weird Kis
- 7:31Speaker 3: moments that happen. You know, I could I couldn't tell
- 7:34Speaker 3: my twenty year old self that hey, you're going to
- 7:36Speaker 3: do all of this in the next fifteen twenty years,
- 7:39Speaker 3: and it's like no, what No, that to me is enough.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Regardless of where this journey goes, and it keeps going,
- 7:46Speaker 3: It's like it's like the journey's been great.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and it is a journey for you guys.
- 7:50Speaker 1: I'd say arguably Deldie Rigs are what australias Its underrated
- 7:55Speaker 1: rock and roll bands, because you guys.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Nix Sess there at two in the morning in Melbourne
- 7:59Speaker 3: last week literally pulled me up to him and he's like,
- 8:04Speaker 3: we're a bit you know, lubrications. He basically said the
- 8:11Speaker 3: same thing to me. He was just like he goes,
- 8:13Speaker 3: you guys are like the best band in Australia, but
- 8:15Speaker 3: no one like what's going on, Like what's the plan?
- 8:17Speaker 3: And like really came at me like like you know,
- 8:20Speaker 3: we're gonna you know, he's you know, he's going to
- 8:23Speaker 3: be not involved, but like sideline involved. I think we're
- 8:26Speaker 3: forcing him into, you know, into some stuff. Whether that's
- 8:31Speaker 3: just like a sounding board or whether we're getting involved
- 8:34Speaker 3: into music, we don't know yet. But him and Alex's
- 8:36Speaker 3: working relationship has been really great, nice and they're just
- 8:40Speaker 3: too you know, he's a beautiful guy with no ego
- 8:42Speaker 3: and spend a lot of good good times with him,
- 8:46Speaker 3: you know, same with Angers with you know, where we're
- 8:48Speaker 3: in amongst all these people that have even our brand,
- 8:52Speaker 3: you know, our man seems to just be like the
- 8:54Speaker 3: one that's like all the musicos love but the you know,
- 8:58Speaker 3: the radio stations in the label and no one wants,
- 9:01Speaker 3: no one wants to give us a go, but we
- 9:03Speaker 3: don't really give a fuck because well all the cool ones,
- 9:07Speaker 3: all the cool people like.
- 9:08Speaker 2: It so absolutely absolutely, And.
- 9:12Speaker 1: You know, you can't sort of predict where your your
- 9:15Speaker 1: marketing train and where that's going to take you. And
- 9:17Speaker 1: I mean in terms of listenership and you know fan base,
- 9:21Speaker 1: I mean, you've definitely it's got strong.
- 9:23Speaker 2: On the day, you wouldn't be, you know, doing the
- 9:24Speaker 2: things that you did if you didn't.
- 9:25Speaker 1: It's just that, you know, it's kind of like, you know,
- 9:29Speaker 1: you get almost like lost behind you know, something else
- 9:32Speaker 1: that's incredible happening at the same time, and it's it's timing.
- 9:36Speaker 2: And maybe twenty twenty six is the rigs.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Year year, the year of the rig, like the year
- 9:41Speaker 3: of the rig.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, put in the pipe will manifested for you guys,
- 9:47Speaker 1: but no, and you guys are so entertaining to watch
- 9:49Speaker 1: and and like you say, you know, they're no ego
- 9:52Speaker 1: and I think that's the really cool thing about you know,
- 9:54Speaker 1: especially a lot of the artists that that I meant
- 9:56Speaker 1: no one involved with any selves as well, that it's
- 9:59Speaker 1: there's non of that, and it's the really cool part
- 10:01Speaker 1: about being involved with just these beautiful people who've got
- 10:04Speaker 1: amazing talent and don't and don't you know, overrate themselves
- 10:09Speaker 1: and take it too seriously.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you've got to rate yourself to a point,
- 10:12Speaker 3: but you've got to do that, yeah, for sure. Don't
- 10:16Speaker 3: take yourself too seriously.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely fun.
- 10:20Speaker 3: There's always a going if it looks like someone's got
- 10:23Speaker 3: the ego, well it's just a bit yeah, was it.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Stage presence as well. You've got to have it.
- 10:28Speaker 3: You've got to have a character. You've got to have
- 10:30Speaker 3: you know, you don't want to No one wants to
- 10:31Speaker 3: go up and see a bunch of wet blankets stand
- 10:34Speaker 3: on stuff.
- 10:35Speaker 1: I've watched a very very prominent, very well known Australian
- 10:38Speaker 1: band who I love, love their music performance stage and
- 10:44Speaker 1: they were just so boring to watch and it was
- 10:47Speaker 1: a real shame because I have seen them previous to
- 10:50Speaker 1: that really send it and it was like just going on,
- 10:53Speaker 1: you know, it was like it was a Sunday afternoon.
- 10:55Speaker 1: It was like I get it, but like it was
- 10:57Speaker 1: really yeah, it was not. It was a bit of
- 10:59Speaker 1: an Angie Climax.
- 11:00Speaker 3: But yeah, yeah, so we always try to.
- 11:03Speaker 2: You know, yeah, La, it's everything.
- 11:06Speaker 3: It's as much as a visual experience.
- 11:08Speaker 2: As it really is. And that's not without the you know,
- 11:11Speaker 2: the fancy lights and all that as well. That's just
- 11:14Speaker 2: literally you guys.
- 11:14Speaker 1: On stage in that energy and it's it's a really
- 11:18Speaker 1: cool mix and you gel really well, it's it's definitely across.
- 11:22Speaker 3: It's so I'm really pumped to play the show because
- 11:25Speaker 3: we haven't.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Played so have you guys played it most before? You haven't,
- 11:28Speaker 2: have you. It's a really cool venue. It's really it's
- 11:33Speaker 2: it's an industrial state. It's so it's very it's pretty cool.
- 11:37Speaker 2: It's very cool. I'm a regular. It's that has a
- 11:42Speaker 2: great pains come through.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I mean, they we've just had I just did live
- 11:45Speaker 1: reviews the Poor I'm not sure you know those guys.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Didn't Freddy Krab just play there too, Yeah, yeah, so.
- 11:53Speaker 2: The Civic just played a soaker punch that's trap it
- 11:57Speaker 2: down if you know.
- 11:58Speaker 3: That guys there, those guys they're also they.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Played with your iron what I'm talking about?
- 12:02Speaker 1: Yeah, so they did. They're actually about to do their
- 12:04Speaker 1: single release party there too, So I think Ray and
- 12:10Speaker 1: Richie from the Box they did that much show.
- 12:13Speaker 2: They're a little while back as well.
- 12:14Speaker 1: So you know, they get a few people come have
- 12:17Speaker 1: like you know, band aids and like you know, you
- 12:19Speaker 1: have a few bands that will be on and whatnot.
- 12:22Speaker 1: But they the numbers and it's fun. It's it's great,
- 12:24Speaker 1: venue's good vibe, really goodvice is that you kiddy cat?
- 12:29Speaker 1: I had have bus very cute, very cute.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Look at she's just at her mouth open. She's the
- 12:40Speaker 2: reasoning icon indeed.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Indeed.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Yeah, well I'm absolutely excited to see you guys on
- 12:47Speaker 1: Saturday night.
- 12:49Speaker 2: So and who else is playing with you guys?
- 12:51Speaker 3: Who else in the line side there? Losc I think
- 12:57Speaker 3: we called or something and I don't know. I never
- 13:00Speaker 3: had to say their name.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Suave Sweve, Yeah, I think it's I know, there's a
- 13:08Speaker 1: few that I'm like that.
- 13:10Speaker 2: But then I realized that, you know, my own artist
- 13:12Speaker 2: name can be a bit chricky. Sometimes it's like it's
- 13:15Speaker 2: just it looks So.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Yeah, then there's the Test Eagles happening on Thursday.
- 13:23Speaker 2: That's correct, that's there are us.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Crocodilers are playing.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Which day are they going again?
- 13:32Speaker 3: You know they were playing? That's crazy because I just
- 13:35Speaker 3: played drums with the guy from I mean the drammer
- 13:38Speaker 3: from Crocodiler's and I just did a Sabbath tribute gig.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Oh nice.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Yeah, so I might just text him now, Selve, sorry,
- 13:44Speaker 3: not suave Selve. They're pretty good and no, Crocodileers aren't playing.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Them, are not. Yeah, they're pretty cool.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Anyway. There's that Seaside band there from Byron. They're really cool.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Yeah, nice Sea Bends is it the Sea Bends side
- 14:03Speaker 1: the side?
- 14:03Speaker 3: Okay, sea Side?
- 14:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:06Speaker 3: That's it. Yeah, there's there's conflicting posters, some say Crocodileers
- 14:09Speaker 3: and some Sea Side I think, oh.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Okay, okay, so I know there's there has been a
- 14:15Speaker 1: few minor changes.
- 14:16Speaker 3: But yeah, but a bit of fun. Hopefully it's going
- 14:19Speaker 3: to be great. I think people turn up.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I'm I'm pretty sure that it will be.
- 14:24Speaker 2: They're probably a good crowd.
- 14:25Speaker 1: It's you know, they've got a nice strong following and
- 14:28Speaker 1: just people, you know, great.
- 14:30Speaker 3: I feel like it's going to be one of those
- 14:31Speaker 3: people just turn up thing on the day.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Yeah. A lot of the time it is, and it's
- 14:36Speaker 2: kind of good like that.
- 14:36Speaker 1: But then sometimes you know, it gets too much, you
- 14:38Speaker 1: know that the you know, it's sold out venue. Like
- 14:42Speaker 1: I've been in like the Beach Hotel bar and sold
- 14:45Speaker 1: out and it's just.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought I was going to die just walking.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Through like one size stage or the other. Was like, yeah,
- 14:51Speaker 1: it was insane. So you know, sometimes there's you know,
- 14:54Speaker 1: big too far.
- 14:56Speaker 3: How many do you know how many people play songs?
- 14:58Speaker 2: I honestly, I don't know.
- 15:00Speaker 1: It's it's not a huge venue, but they are, they'll
- 15:04Speaker 1: be able to pack a few in that.
- 15:06Speaker 2: It's yeah, I'd say, it's really hard to say. It's
- 15:11Speaker 2: kind of now I reckon might be on part with
- 15:14Speaker 2: maybe the back room maybe maybe just slightly.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Smaller cool, but the back room, it's it's it's it's interesting,
- 15:21Speaker 1: isn't it like that in the Northern Yeah, it's nothing's changed.
- 15:25Speaker 2: It sounds great with you there, but if you're recording
- 15:27Speaker 2: like your audio, it sounds terrible. Yeah, it's but you
- 15:31Speaker 2: know it's a good but.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Need to play a lot of nostalgia there for a
- 15:34Speaker 1: lot of people to So, yeah, you guys, have you
- 15:40Speaker 1: in that place? Yeah, down every little mark on the ceiling,
- 15:46Speaker 1: it's yeah, you do your you're in house service there
