Transcript
- 0:00Could AOC be the next president of the United States? Could Stephen A.
- 0:05Smith be the next president?
- 0:07Those are the two names I've been hearing floating out there.
- 0:10That would be a reaction to what we just experienced as a country.
- 0:14A huge reaction. My name is Brandon Fogle. This is Evolution.
- 0:17Let's dive into it. I don't know if you caught the Douglas Murray and Dave Smith
- 0:24debate that happened last week on the Joe Rogan podcast.
- 0:30Usually when you check into Joe Rogan these days, it's not a debate happening.
- 0:35It's more just a conversation.
- 0:37But Douglas Murray, he started it. He right out of the gates when the podcast kicked off,
- 0:44he was just, it felt like he was just ready to roll and ready to just argue
- 0:50something that I don't think when we actually take a look at it was very defensible.
- 0:56Douglas Murray, he comes from a UK position, British position.
- 1:01That's what I got from him. He had that vibe.
- 1:05He has a nice accent, you know, people from Britain, they got a good accent.
- 1:10But his idea was certainly from across the pond.
- 1:14It did not align with what I think is the American thought process in freedom
- 1:20of speech, freedom of thought. And he came at it like.
- 1:24Unless you are an expert in something, you should completely shut up and don't talk about it at all.
- 1:30Dave Smith, on the other hand, I've seen him on a lot of shows.
- 1:34I've seen him on Tim Pool's show like plenty of times. And he was recently on
- 1:39Joe Rogan's podcast, but he was brought back on here for this.
- 1:42I don't know if Joe expected this to break out, but it was certainly crazy.
- 1:47And you should check out the video.
- 1:48I put a link in the description about everything that happened in it.
- 1:52It was really wild beginning to end.
- 1:55It was, it was fire, but I'm going to give you a short clip of what Douglas Murray says.
- 2:00And you can, I'm going to make, if you don't know either one of these people,
- 2:03you might be able to pick up right away who they are just by their accent and
- 2:08who's how they, how they, each of them talk.
- 2:10But Dave Smith, he defended the mayor, the American freedom of speech thing.
- 2:15Like that was what I really drew from it was Douglas Murray is like,
- 2:21unless you go and touch the land of Israel, unless you go to Israel and you step foot in Gaza,
- 2:28the crossing points, you should not be speaking about anything.
- 2:32And Dave Smith challenges them on this and you're going to see,
- 2:36I'm just, I don't want to, I don't want to just spill the beans or just make
- 2:40it, seem like give more of an impression and let you just maybe hear it from
- 2:43yourself and see what you come to the conclusion.
- 2:46Which side are you on? Should somebody, can they not speak about something unless
- 2:50they actually go to that region?
- 2:52I've been plenty of time. There's no deficit? No, there are plenty.
- 2:55No goods were kept out. There are plenty. How many? Have you been to the crossing points? No.
- 3:00When were you last there at all? I've never been. You've never been?
- 3:03Well, I'm not, am I not allowed to talk about it now? I've never been to,
- 3:07have you ever been to Nazi Germany?
- 3:08Are you allowed to have feelings about them? You can't time travel, but you can travel.
- 3:12Okay. But so what? So what's the point? Like, okay. I find that lots of people
- 3:16have been there and agree with me and lots of people have been there and agree with you.
- 3:19So I don't know what the, spend a year and a half talking about a place,
- 3:22you should at least do the courtesy of visiting it. All right.
- 3:25I just think this is a non-argument. You don't think? No, I think it's a non-argument.
- 3:29But if you're an ex- But you have to go and touch the ground?
- 3:31No, I think you have to see, I think it's a good idea to see stuff,
- 3:34particularly if you spend a career talking about something. Yes.
- 3:38I have a journalistic rule of trying never to talk about a country,
- 3:42even in passing, unless I've at least been there.
- 3:44Okay, so I don't know what you took away from that, but in this case,
- 3:48this was, like I said, right when it started,
- 3:51Douglas Murray, who's on the screen right there, he came
- 3:54out just guns blazing and just right away
- 3:57challenging Joe by the people that he is
- 4:00platforming on his podcast and saying
- 4:04that he's not giving the other side of whatever the side that he is on a voice
- 4:10and is if you are not a historian you can't speak about history if you are not
- 4:15if you have not been to Israel or any other place in the world you can't even talk about that place.
- 4:21And I don't want to straw man what he's saying, because there is,
- 4:25I would say, a nugget and a gem of truth in what he is talking about.
- 4:29And when he when Douglas talks about.
- 4:32He he boils it down. There's a point in the in the argument where he says,
- 4:37I go to Twitter and I see all these people that aren't experts on anything just
- 4:42coming into my feed and just giving their opinion and their voice when I don't need to see that.
- 4:48To me he came across very elitist that's
- 4:53that's the impression that i got that like if you
- 4:55you can't even talk about something unless you have
- 4:59you unless you have a degree in whatever it
- 5:02is and dave smith over and over is just like i'm
- 5:04not an expert in this but this is my opinion and like
- 5:08any podcast or anybody that's out there in the world you can't
- 5:11be a a expert at everything you
- 5:15can't not everybody can know a
- 5:18lot everything about everything but you
- 5:21you can get still get good knowledge
- 5:24and you could still have regular just understanding of how to interpret whatever
- 5:29is going on in this world I this is my opinion this is what I'm I'm saying and
- 5:33I think it is from that that side of the pond over in Britain where they are
- 5:38very close minded and unless you are.
- 5:43Unless you have a history degree in whatever it is you're talking about,
- 5:47I'm not even going to listen to you.
- 5:49Dave Smith, he repeatedly gave the argument that, man, am I not allowed to say what I think?
- 5:55Am I not allowed to just give my opinion on whatever it is, the whole,
- 6:00it's that why maybe we separated from Britain,
- 6:04you know, maybe that's why we got away from that neck of the woods,
- 6:08because we wanted to be our own people.
- 6:11We don't want to be just under the thumb of other people. We want to have freedom
- 6:16of thought, freedom of speech, and that's a huge deal.
- 6:19This kind of feeds into the whole, should everybody be getting on board with AOC or Stephen A.
- 6:27Smith coming into the argument of next president of the United States?
- 6:31And I know Stephen A. Smith, he's not just right out there and up front.
- 6:34He's kind of just, if I have to step in, I'll do it.
- 6:39But it's very countercultural to where we're at.
- 6:43And if we go in that direction, I mean, Stephen A.
- 6:46Smith, he would almost be a neutral person in the argument, in the whole debate
- 6:52structure of the president.
- 6:53But AOC, there's a lot of things about her that, I mean, could people actually
- 6:59get on board with her representing our country?
- 7:02And I think if people do not have a voice, if people do not have opinion to
- 7:07say what they think, and just continue just to put it out there,
- 7:10then people are gonna be closed-minded and not know all the facts.
- 7:14If we are only just fed one narrative by who are so-called experts.
- 7:20That's all we are going to, we are going to be one-sided. We got to be put on
- 7:25our big boy pants and our big girl pants and be able to look at both sides of
- 7:33whatever it is and discern.
- 7:35And so I get what Douglas was saying repeatedly over in his argument,
- 7:41but it's kind of feeding into the direction.
- 7:44Could this kind of spark something that we go in a AOC wild run of presidential campaign?
- 7:54That would be absolutely crazy to me if we do go that direction.
- 8:00Stephen A. Smith would be more middle of the road, and I could see that actually happen.
- 8:04But AOC becoming a candidate, because I think she is going to step in there.
- 8:09And I do not see her actually becoming president next run, but I,
- 8:14mark my words, I bet she will be president someday.
- 8:18Maybe not the next term, but maybe the one after that.
- 8:21She is just, she comes across as a valley girl, a person that just is just social
- 8:28media on steroids and able to just garner attention and garner views.
- 8:33She just put herself in Congress. I don't know how she got there besides her
- 8:37doing it herself, which I mean, that's that go-getter attitude,
- 8:40which is good, but she does put out there a lot of just very extreme views, very extreme views.
- 8:48I do believe she will be president someday.
- 8:51And do you think that that might be insane to even think about to even put like,
- 8:57if, if you're wanting just to be milquetoast and you're wanting just to get
- 9:02along, go along to get along.
- 9:03I think that ship has sailed. It is now, who is going to do the craziest thing?
- 9:11This is what social media and YouTube and everything has done to us.
- 9:16It has made us go crazy unless we are.
- 9:20We're seeing the most crazy thing happening. And AOC has very,
- 9:24she has garnered that ability to go out there and get the views,
- 9:29get people to look at her and say some crazy things. So could AOC be president?
- 9:34Anything's possible. I think she will be president eventually.
- 9:38Stephen A. Smith, he's going to float his name in there. But that seems more
- 9:41just a way to get some attention, a way to bring some light to the political,
- 9:48swinging back in the political direction that he is wanting us to go.
- 9:53So, but this, this whole debate between Douglas Murray and Dave Smith was absolutely
- 9:59insane. It was different than the normal show that Joe Rogan has on there because
- 10:04it was really back and forth.
- 10:06It was, it got heated at times. And I saw each person's position clearly.
- 10:10I saw what Dave Smith was arguing and he is all about, you have freedom of thought,
- 10:15freedom of speech, and you're not going to take that away from me.
- 10:18You're not going to take that away from us.
- 10:20And Douglas Murray was just more, man, I don't want to hear anybody unless you
- 10:25have a master's degree in that subject.
- 10:29And then over and over it is like, well, then are you giving your opinion about something?
- 10:34And he's like, yeah, I do. I talk about a lot of things, but I try not to.
- 10:39I try not to, unless I know it.
- 10:41I try to go to the people that are the experts and it's, that is a dangerous path to go on.
- 10:47And I think, I think Americans should be aware of it's out there, but like be able to see,
- 10:54see it for what it is, because man, that, that is just every,
- 10:58if people like that have power that are willing to say you either tote the party line or you shut up,
- 11:06then that is a terrible direction, I think, for our country.
- 11:09But I mean, like I said, the pendulum will always swing back and forth.
- 11:14And right now it's on the right side. So it's going to eventually go back to the left.
- 11:19And I think AOC has a very strong possibility of being president,
- 11:23maybe not in the next four years, but the one after that.
- 11:27I think she's going to be someday, just her ability to just get people to jump
- 11:33on her bandwagon and jump on her point of view. So, all right, we'll leave it at that.
