A 46-year-old man, Bryant Benson, has been arrested after a 15-year cold case was reopened thanks to new DNA evidence linking him to a 2011 rape and aggravated burglary in Butler County. Already familiar with the legal system for other serious crimes including grand theft and assault, Benson now faces fresh charges from 2025 — including rape, violating a protection order, and kidnapping — with prosecutors crediting the DNA breakthrough as the key to solving the decades-old crime.
